- 0:04Speaker 1: Hey, welcome back to another week of the Mic Drop
- 0:15Speaker 1: podcast of San Diego Version.
- 0:18Speaker 2: But we have some new news coming through.
- 0:21Speaker 1: We are going to be taking this into the clubs
- 0:25Speaker 1: from now on. This will probably be the last one
- 0:27Speaker 1: for San Diego that's remote like this. And we're going
- 0:30Speaker 1: to have a host locally do it from the green
- 0:35Speaker 1: room of the Mic Drop podcast. And I'm so excited
- 0:37Speaker 1: to announce that the person that we have chosen to
- 0:40Speaker 1: take over the duties for the San Diego podcast, your
- 0:43Speaker 1: new host is going to be Lucy Love.
- 0:48Speaker 3: I'm excited.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Like put little clapping sounds in there or something.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Yeah. A little applause and shit like that.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00Speaker 1: But, um, so you're, you're, you're originally from San Diego
- 1:03Speaker 1: all the way through.
- 1:04Speaker 3: All the way through born and raised San Diego. Yeah. Can't,
- 1:08Speaker 3: can't leave. Every time I tried to, something pulls me back.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Did you, um, you, uh, uh, your school, uh, did
- 1:15Speaker 1: you go to one school, like the whole consistently, like,
- 1:17Speaker 1: or did you do a lot of moving around in
- 1:19Speaker 1: San Diego?
- 1:20Speaker 3: No, San Diego.
- 1:21Speaker 4: I've been consistent kind of in the same area, central
- 1:24Speaker 4: San Diego for the most part, but I went to
- 1:26Speaker 4: middle school in like, it's Sarah Mesa, but most people
- 1:31Speaker 4: like know it as like the mission Valley area. And then, um,
- 1:35Speaker 4: I went to high school. I went to an all
- 1:36Speaker 4: girl Catholic high school that's been around in North Park.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 1:42Speaker 4: Did a little bit of college at the community college.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. That's awesome. And then, uh, you just, uh,
- 1:50Speaker 2: started venturing out into doing standup, correct?
- 1:53Speaker 3: Like four years ago.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:54Speaker 4: So about four years ago when you and I first met,
- 1:56Speaker 4: I was like a, newbie dude very very new to
- 2:00Speaker 4: the scene um but in February this last like a
- 2:04Speaker 4: couple weeks ago I hit my four-year mark.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Oh uh that's a that's uh interesting too like you
- 2:10Speaker 1: said when me and you first met like that was
- 2:11Speaker 1: you were just fresh in describe that like that uh
- 2:16Speaker 1: occurrence that that uh that coming to think like how
- 2:18Speaker 1: did you get to the the mic drop and that
- 2:22Speaker 1: day and all that stuff.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, so comedy has always been, I've always
- 2:26Speaker 4: been a huge fan. Like I would watch it, I
- 2:28Speaker 4: would stay up at like late nights and watch like
- 2:30Speaker 4: Comic View on TV or like the Comedy Central Presents
- 2:34Speaker 4: and stuff. And then I was always like holding court
- 2:38Speaker 4: at like the family gatherings. I'd be at the dinner
- 2:40Speaker 4: table and making my grandma and grandpa laugh and stuff
- 2:43Speaker 4: like that. And it was like, you know, coming up
- 2:45Speaker 4: in like a Mexican family, you're not a lot, it's
- 2:47Speaker 4: like you're not allowed to talk back, you know? So
- 2:50Speaker 4: I was always like, it was my loophole because I
- 2:52Speaker 4: could like talk my shit and then not get in
- 2:54Speaker 4: trouble because everyone was like giggling so from there I
- 2:59Speaker 4: never thought of doing stand-up comedy like it wasn't something
- 3:02Speaker 4: that I was like this is what I want to
- 3:03Speaker 4: do or I'd see people and think like I was
- 3:05Speaker 4: able to do something like that but one day my
- 3:09Speaker 4: grandpa was we had company over and then my grandma
- 3:14Speaker 4: was like oh Amanda's gonna come tell us a story
- 3:16Speaker 4: right and I was like okay and then I like
- 3:18Speaker 4: walk over and they're like They're from Mexico. So when
- 3:23Speaker 4: they were saying, like, I'm funny, they were thinking I
- 3:26Speaker 4: was going to do, like, bits, right? Because in Mexico,
- 3:28Speaker 4: there wasn't stand-up comedy then. They would just come out
- 3:30Speaker 4: and do, like, a scene from a comedy show. And
- 3:34Speaker 4: my grandpa was the first one that was like, oh,
- 3:37Speaker 4: it's more like stand-up comedy. That's the first time I
- 3:40Speaker 4: heard someone say it. And even then, I wasn't like,
- 3:43Speaker 4: that's what I do.
- 3:44Speaker 3: But it planted a seed in my head.
- 3:47Speaker 4: And then years later, I was like, you know, I
- 3:50Speaker 4: went through college, I did all the like public speaking things.
- 3:53Speaker 4: And then at some point I was like, I still
- 3:55Speaker 4: want to do this, but what, what are, how, like
- 4:00Speaker 4: what options do I have?
- 4:01Speaker 3: And standup kind of came to mind.
- 4:04Speaker 4: So I started hitting the clubs to go to the
- 4:05Speaker 4: open mic and every freaking week, I'd be like, I'm
- 4:07Speaker 4: going to sign up for.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Two years, two years. I'm going to sign up this week.
- 4:10Speaker 3: I'm going to sign up this week. Never would do it. Never.
- 4:14Speaker 3: COVID hit. And then there was like a, a.
- 4:17Speaker 4: Thing in my neighborhood, some flyer or something saying there
- 4:20Speaker 4: was like a standup comedy, um, class that you could
- 4:24Speaker 4: take at like a local.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Um, comedy club.
- 4:28Speaker 4: So I took it and then I was like, Oh,
- 4:30Speaker 4: that's just easy. I was like, I'll just, I was
- 4:32Speaker 4: just nervous about like the stage and what that looks like.
- 4:35Speaker 4: And am I going to run the three minutes? Like
- 4:37Speaker 4: there's so many things to overthink, you know? So when
- 4:39Speaker 4: I took the class and I, I realized how stages
- 4:42Speaker 4: were set up and all that stuff, I was like, Oh,
- 4:44Speaker 4: this is, this is easy.
- 4:45Speaker 3: And I just started to do it. Which then, I
- 4:49Speaker 3: like learning stuff.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Today, this morning, I took myself fishing for the first time.
- 4:54Speaker 4: I went to Walmart last night. I bought a bunch
- 4:55Speaker 4: of fishing equipment. And then I was like, I'm going
- 4:57Speaker 4: to go learn how to fish today.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Yeah. That's why I look crazy. I'm like, I rushed home.
- 5:02Speaker 4: I thought I was going to have more time to
- 5:03Speaker 4: get ready. But I was out there and I was like, dude,
- 5:07Speaker 4: this is actually cool. I'm really enjoying this. So I
- 5:10Speaker 4: took myself out to learn how to fish. I always
- 5:12Speaker 4: like to learn new things. And I'm very much a student.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Yeah. When I saw Mic Drop was offering classes, there
- 5:19Speaker 3: had been a few that they had offered. And I
- 5:25Speaker 3: think you were presenting one about writing.
- 5:27Speaker 4: And I was like, I really– that's something I need
- 5:29Speaker 4: to work on, like a writer's workshop or something like that.
- 5:32Speaker 3: And that was something I was really, really interested in.
- 5:34Speaker 3: So I made sure to be there. And then I
- 5:37Speaker 3: just felt like you and me vibed.
- 5:38Speaker 4: It was just like I– There was a couple of
- 5:40Speaker 4: people in the class that said a couple of things
- 5:41Speaker 4: and I saw us like do like the office pan
- 5:43Speaker 4: camera look. So, yeah, there was just like moments. And then,
- 5:49Speaker 4: I mean, you and I connected from that point. And
- 5:52Speaker 4: I mean, like I told you on the phone the
- 5:54Speaker 4: other day, I think you've been probably one of the
- 5:55Speaker 4: more instrumental people in like my my short comedy career
- 5:58Speaker 4: that I've had so far.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Yeah. I, it's so funny too, cause you were complimenting
- 6:03Speaker 2: me and like, I don't know how to take compliments.
- 6:04Speaker 3: I'm like, yeah, I know. I figured it out.
- 6:07Speaker 4: You were like, oh, I was like, okay.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Cause I'm not, cause I didn't grow up getting them.
- 6:12Speaker 1: So it's like, when I get them, I'm like, what
- 6:14Speaker 1: do I do? How do I respond to that? I
- 6:17Speaker 1: was like, I don't know.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Um, and I was like, uh, uh, I was like, yeah, no.
- 6:22Speaker 1: But then on top of that too, it's like, I
- 6:23Speaker 1: don't know, like, I feel like if you're just being
- 6:25Speaker 1: a good person, you're supposed to be a good person.
- 6:27Speaker 3: And Yeah, yeah, I get that.
- 6:29Speaker 2: I'm similar. Yeah, like you said, the whole Mexican– growing
- 6:32Speaker 2: up Mexican is like we don't– they don't give you compliments.
- 6:37Speaker 2: They shit talk you, and that's the compliment. Like, oh,
- 6:41Speaker 2: you think you're bad?
- 6:43Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Very much that. It's like, I mean, everyone.
- 6:47Speaker 4: Has that joke where it's just like the nickname is
- 6:49Speaker 4: always an insult. It's like very loving. Like even like
- 6:52Speaker 4: my grandma, her loving– little nickname for all the like
- 6:55Speaker 4: women is pendeja which means like dumbass where you're just
- 6:57Speaker 4: like hi pendeja and you're like oh okay like you
- 7:00Speaker 4: just grow up thinking like insults are.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Love yeah they're like uh yeah so when someone does
- 7:06Speaker 1: tell you a compliment it's like what do you want
- 7:08Speaker 1: you know why are you what type of shit it's
- 7:10Speaker 1: like what would oh you're gonna be mean to me
- 7:12Speaker 1: now now you want to really be mean is it
- 7:14Speaker 1: right so yeah no i'm very tough with that but
- 7:16Speaker 1: thank you though i appreciate that i'm trying to learn
- 7:18Speaker 1: how to be a better person to accept compliments um
- 7:22Speaker 1: yeah And it's funny because you're talking about how you
- 7:26Speaker 1: went fishing today.
- 7:27Speaker 2: I've never caught a fish in my life.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Dude, I'm like determined.
- 7:32Speaker 4: I'm like low-key about to go tomorrow morning.
- 7:37Speaker 3: And to say it's exciting is wrong because it's not exciting.
- 7:40Speaker 4: You're just like, but something about just being out there
- 7:43Speaker 4: and it's cold and you're just like, is it going
- 7:45Speaker 4: to happen?
- 7:45Speaker 3: Is it not going to happen?
- 7:46Speaker 4: And there's other people there, but I was really intimidated
- 7:51Speaker 4: when I first got out there.
- 7:51Speaker 3: Cause I just saw a bunch of men around. I
- 7:53Speaker 3: was like, Oh, I didn't think anyone was going to
- 7:55Speaker 3: be able to see me, you know?
- 7:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:58Speaker 4: So, and then like the first three times I cast
- 8:01Speaker 4: my line out, I hooked it in a tree. I
- 8:03Speaker 4: like hook it to the side in the grass. I
- 8:05Speaker 4: was like, Oh my God, this is so embarrassing. And
- 8:07Speaker 4: then finally when I got the hang of it, I
- 8:09Speaker 4: was like, Oh, okay, this is cool.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Like this is fun. So, and then I was like,
- 8:13Speaker 3: I get to.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Just be outside and be doing kind of a thing,
- 8:16Speaker 4: but not really a thing.
- 8:17Speaker 2: So yeah.
- 8:18Speaker 3: I don't know. I think it'll be my new hobby.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:23Speaker 1: And what else are you saying too about like, oh,
- 8:25Speaker 1: what was it? It was, it was about all the writing,
- 8:28Speaker 1: the writing stuff.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:30Speaker 1: It was interesting because like, I was really finding out
- 8:33Speaker 1: that like a lot of people didn't know what premises
- 8:35Speaker 1: were or like, you know, like, like that's, they would,
- 8:38Speaker 1: like you said, that one dude just, one of the
- 8:40Speaker 1: guys was just like, he blurted out his joke and
- 8:43Speaker 1: I'm like, that's just a premise.
- 8:45Speaker 2: You need, Yeah. There needs to be a joke. That's
- 8:47Speaker 2: an idea. That's a thought. And then he was like, oh, well,
- 8:50Speaker 2: there's more to it. And it's like, let's hear it.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Well, then he told you, he basically was like, yeah,
- 8:55Speaker 4: the joke is that I think he was like, I'm
- 8:57Speaker 4: Asian and I'm not smart.
- 8:59Speaker 3: And we're like, all right.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:01Speaker 3: From this guy.
- 9:02Speaker 2: What a twist. Yeah.
- 9:04Speaker 3: What?
- 9:06Speaker 2: Yeah. And then, but yeah, no.
- 9:08Speaker 1: And then, cause you see me, you were like, you
- 9:10Speaker 1: were like generally interested too in like the whole process
- 9:13Speaker 1: of it too.
- 9:13Speaker 2: And like wanting to get better and wanting to be better.
- 9:15Speaker 1: And then, um, then we did a round robin to, uh,
- 9:18Speaker 1: you know, teaching, you know, cause I was like, not,
- 9:21Speaker 1: not only, you know, to do it here with me,
- 9:24Speaker 1: but you want to start doing it together as a community.
- 9:28Speaker 1: So I was like, this is how you guys can
- 9:29Speaker 1: get together.
- 9:30Speaker 2: And do a round robin.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Everyone, you know, has a turn and you guys all
- 9:33Speaker 1: give each other your thought processes on that particular subject.
- 9:37Speaker 2: And then you can also see different avenues and yada, yada, yada.
- 9:40Speaker 1: And then it was another thing too, was, uh, Um,
- 9:43Speaker 1: that I always say about when you write, um, people
- 9:47Speaker 1: will write, I go, everything we'll do right here and
- 9:49Speaker 1: you'll love it. And everything's, everyone's all jazzed up and
- 9:51Speaker 1: oh yeah, we've got some work done. And I go,
- 9:53Speaker 1: but that's not even the hard part or the part
- 9:56Speaker 1: that like, this is easy. It's the going and doing
- 9:59Speaker 1: it now.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Like, oh, I don't, I like, I've had writing sessions
- 10:03Speaker 1: like that. And then we go to do the mics
- 10:05Speaker 1: and they just go and do their set.
- 10:06Speaker 2: They already did. And I was like, what happened to
- 10:08Speaker 2: all the stuff we worked on today? Like you didn't
- 10:10Speaker 2: do any of that. And then there's, I'm just doing,
- 10:13Speaker 2: I'm not ready yet for it. And it's like, no,
- 10:14Speaker 2: that's the point of this.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Just got to do it.
- 10:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:17Speaker 2: You got it. Yeah. So all that, all that shit.
- 10:20Speaker 2: but no, it was interesting. And then, um, yeah.
- 10:22Speaker 1: And I brought you on the road and I was like, yeah.
- 10:23Speaker 1: And then you did really well at laughs and, and you're,
- 10:26Speaker 1: you've been doing really well.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Yeah. And you connected with, um, uh, uh, uh, uh, wow. Yeah. Yeah. Wow. Wow.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Yeah. That's funny.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:37Speaker 4: I connected with Rafi out there and then I did his, um,
- 10:40Speaker 4: his show out here in San Diego at the mic drop.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:45Speaker 1: And then, um, And then I had you at the
- 10:48Speaker 1: mic drop too with me and Rui.
- 10:51Speaker 2: And then, yeah, no.
- 10:52Speaker 1: And then it's been good. And we've been running around
- 10:54Speaker 1: and talking shit. And also, that's why when we were like, oh,
- 10:58Speaker 1: we would like to get somebody in studio. And I
- 10:59Speaker 1: was like, fucking Lucy's out there. And she's fucking funny.
- 11:02Speaker 1: And she's personable.
- 11:03Speaker 2: And like, yeah. I'll give you compliments.
- 11:06Speaker 3: That's how you take compliments, Carlos. Thank you.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Oh, that's how it is?
- 11:10Speaker 3: Same way, yeah. Well, that's all you have to do.
- 11:12Speaker 3: It's that easy. No, I used to be exactly like you.
- 11:15Speaker 3: And then one day.
- 11:17Speaker 4: someone noticed the same way like I had kind of
- 11:19Speaker 4: noticed with you and and she told me she's like
- 11:21Speaker 4: you know when you when you don't accept a compliment
- 11:23Speaker 4: from someone you're like you're disregarding their reality like you're
- 11:28Speaker 4: telling them like oh what you think of me isn't
- 11:30Speaker 4: true and I was like oh shit like it like
- 11:32Speaker 4: hit me in a weird way where I was like
- 11:33Speaker 4: oh I don't want to do that so now if
- 11:35Speaker 4: someone says I just say thank I'm just like okay
- 11:36Speaker 4: thank you like if that's your reality and I'm not
- 11:38Speaker 4: I'm not here to tell you it's.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Not you know oh shit well that now I know
- 11:42Speaker 1: I know it almost sounds like I'm like damn I
- 11:44Speaker 1: was like maybe that was maybe I offended Maybe I've
- 11:47Speaker 1: offended people when they give me compliments.
- 11:49Speaker 3: That's what I started to think.
- 11:50Speaker 4: I was like, oh, well, now you're speaking to a
- 11:52Speaker 4: different part of my brain that will allow me to
- 11:55Speaker 4: take the compliment, you know?
- 11:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:57Speaker 1: But I was like, you'd be perfect for a podcast. Because,
- 12:00Speaker 1: I mean, when you tell stories or how you go
- 12:03Speaker 1: into things, it's interesting. And it's like, okay, I want
- 12:06Speaker 1: to know more of your thought process on that. That's
- 12:08Speaker 1: why I thought you were also going to be a
- 12:10Speaker 1: good comedian, too. I was like, you're not just saying random.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I'm not saying random, but just like the typical– you know,
- 12:16Speaker 1: first year, two year comic or even girl comic type
- 12:19Speaker 1: of shit. It was like, no, I get to understand
- 12:21Speaker 1: her thought process on how she came to that conclusion that,
- 12:24Speaker 1: that is silly, you know?
- 12:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:27Speaker 3: I think, thank you. I appreciate that.
- 12:29Speaker 2: You're so good at it.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Keep telling me about myself.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Yeah. She's like, she's like, I get a lot of compliments,
- 12:36Speaker 2: so I'm really good at accepting them now.
- 12:37Speaker 3: And I'm actually used to it by now.
- 12:41Speaker 2: That's so funny.
- 12:42Speaker 1: But yeah, so this is what we're going to be
- 12:44Speaker 1: doing this. You're going to be taking over this.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Yeah. So this is week six, but we're going to
- 12:49Speaker 2: do like.
- 12:51Speaker 1: The trivia questions. You're going to go through them. So
- 12:53Speaker 1: are you ready for week six trivia?
- 12:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm ready.
- 12:56Speaker 2: We'll see. Okay. Okay. Let me, let me get the
- 12:59Speaker 2: scoreboard out.
- 13:00Speaker 3: It's about fishing. I'm ready. I've been watching. I'm ready.
- 13:04Speaker 4: Like there's a few subjects that I feel confident about
- 13:07Speaker 4: other stuff.
- 13:08Speaker 3: I'm like, let's see.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Let's see. Boom, got the scoreboard coming in. All right,
- 13:13Speaker 2: so here we go.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Okay, so this is just, we're pitting you against the
- 13:18Speaker 1: other comics from the other shows. And we're in week six,
- 13:24Speaker 1: and so they're all over the place.
- 13:27Speaker 2: So it goes like this. Okay, week six. First question is,
- 13:31Speaker 2: the Liberty Bell is located where?
- 13:35Speaker 3: Washington, D.C.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Oh, so sorry. So sorry.
- 13:39Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 13:39Speaker 2: It's in Philadelphia.
- 13:42Speaker 4: If my friend Christy watches this podcast, she's going to
- 13:45Speaker 4: get pissed. She's going to be like, she's a very
- 13:46Speaker 4: much Go Birds girl, and she's going to be upset.
- 13:49Speaker 2: She's like, fuck, girl.
- 13:50Speaker 4: She's going to be like, what the fuck?
- 13:53Speaker 2: It's your history, girl. Like, what the fuck?
- 13:55Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Okay. This is a movie question. This is entertainment. Okay. what, uh,
- 14:03Speaker 2: what was it? What was it?
- 14:03Speaker 1: Uh, saving private Ryan lost best picture Oscar to what movie?
- 14:08Speaker 4: I have no, I have no idea. Um, I'm trying
- 14:14Speaker 4: to think of what else came out around that time.
- 14:18Speaker 1: It's like, it's like such a tragedy too.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Cause I mean, same time around such a good rewatchable movie.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Yeah, it really is.
- 14:24Speaker 1: And this one that they want it is, it isn't,
- 14:26Speaker 1: it's like, why it's, it's just not a good, I mean,
- 14:28Speaker 1: I don't think it's good. It's, I've seen it once,
- 14:31Speaker 1: and I was like, okay, that's enough of that.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Yeah. I have no idea. I mean, it's a Muppets movie.
- 14:40Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 14:42Speaker 3: That actually is a good rewatch.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Love the guest. Yeah, that's a movie. Wouldn't be mad
- 14:47Speaker 2: at that. No, it's Shakespeare in Love.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Oh, you know what? I do love that movie, but
- 14:55Speaker 3: I would not have guessed that at all. I didn't even, yeah.
- 14:59Speaker 3: I would not have guessed that.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Yeah i've seen it once and i was like all
- 15:01Speaker 1: right and then when it won best oscar over saving
- 15:04Speaker 1: private ryan i was like man fuck this movie now
- 15:06Speaker 1: for sure yeah.
- 15:08Speaker 4: I i've seen both and i would have assumed that
- 15:12Speaker 4: private ryan was a little more oscar worthy the other
- 15:14Speaker 4: one like i think you could just watch it on
- 15:15Speaker 4: tubi now or something like i'm like.
- 15:17Speaker 1: I don't know yeah for real uh or on basic
- 15:21Speaker 1: basic cable um That's still around.
- 15:23Speaker 2: I don't even know.
- 15:24Speaker 3: That's a flipping through the channels movie right there, dude.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Like a Saturday at noon. Yeah.
- 15:29Speaker 4: I'm cleaning the house and something's got to be on.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Okay.
- 15:34Speaker 1: So the question number three is who was the first
- 15:39Speaker 1: comedian to sell out Madison Square Garden?
- 15:44Speaker 3: Andrew Dice Clay.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Boom. What a fucking good.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 15:48Speaker 2: There you go. Got a point on the got on
- 15:50Speaker 2: the board. Fuck. Yeah. All right, cool, cool, cool. All right,
- 15:53Speaker 2: on to the next one. It's a sports question. And
- 15:57Speaker 2: so it says, name a team that hasn't won the
- 15:59Speaker 2: Super Bowl. Ooh, the Bills. Yep, yep, right on. Yeah,
- 16:03Speaker 2: you got it. Boom.
- 16:05Speaker 3: That one's personal to me.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Oh, really? Are you a Bills fan?
- 16:09Speaker 3: No, no, no, no.
- 16:10Speaker 4: I have a good friend who's a Bills fan, but
- 16:13Speaker 4: we'll argue a lot. He's like a brother, and I'm like, dude,
- 16:15Speaker 4: I hate your guts sometimes. And if we're in a
- 16:18Speaker 4: bad fight, I told him that I watch the Bills with, like,
- 16:22Speaker 4: hate so they'll lose. And right now we're not talking
- 16:26Speaker 4: because I'm mad at him. And when they were in
- 16:28Speaker 4: their last game, I hadn't watched any of the Bills season.
- 16:30Speaker 4: I watched the last game.
- 16:31Speaker 3: And they lost. And I was like, yeah, bro.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:33Speaker 3: And that's the only reason I know they haven't won anything.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Oh, my God. That probably broke his heart, too.
- 16:36Speaker 3: I feel like I'm doing brokady off the Bills.
- 16:38Speaker 2: I'm sure I'm not. He is. I mean, because that
- 16:42Speaker 2: was a bad. That sucked. That was a terrible loss.
- 16:45Speaker 3: I know.
- 16:46Speaker 2: They lost on some bullshit ass wins.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Interception.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 16:50Speaker 1: And they've been going to that, trying to get over
- 16:54Speaker 1: that hump, and they had such an easy road to get.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I don't think he'll talk to you anymore. You said
- 17:00Speaker 1: you're mad at him.
- 17:03Speaker 3: Don't talk to me. No, I think they deserve it.
- 17:07Speaker 4: I feel bad for the Bills, and their fans are
- 17:08Speaker 4: so diehard, and they'll stand out in that freaking cold
- 17:12Speaker 4: and the snow, and they'll go shovel out the stadium.
- 17:15Speaker 4: They deserve a good win, but I know they haven't
- 17:17Speaker 4: got one.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I used to be all the time at Oakland Coliseum
- 17:21Speaker 1: because I'm a Raider fan, and it would start to
- 17:25Speaker 1: rain in the third quarter.
- 17:26Speaker 2: I was like, all right, man, it's time to go.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I know.
- 17:28Speaker 2: We're going to get too wet by fourth quarter, bro.
- 17:30Speaker 2: I got to go. I know. Or we'll watch it
- 17:33Speaker 2: underneath the veiling.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Yeah, you're just watching it in the background creeping.
- 17:37Speaker 1: All the teams that haven't won are the Detroit Lions,
- 17:40Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Bengals, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans,
- 17:52Speaker 1: and the Los Angeles Chargers.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Do you have a team?
- 17:56Speaker 3: I don't.
- 17:58Speaker 4: My family was all big Chargers fans. Obviously, San Diego
- 18:03Speaker 4: growing up, they're not anymore because we're bitter about it.
- 18:08Speaker 4: And then my grandpa was a big Niners fan just
- 18:11Speaker 4: because he liked the colors and stuff.
- 18:13Speaker 3: So I grew up a Niners fan because I was
- 18:14Speaker 3: like a grandpa's girl.
- 18:16Speaker 4: And then when Jerry Rice went to the Raiders, I
- 18:19Speaker 4: started following the Raiders.
- 18:20Speaker 3: Pretty tough. But then, I don't know, in the last
- 18:22Speaker 3: few years, like, football just, I don't know, it hasn't
- 18:24Speaker 3: done anything for me. I'm really taking on, like, loving baseball.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Oh, that's right. That's right. We should have talked. Oh,
- 18:30Speaker 2: you'll talk about that, too, when you take over the
- 18:32Speaker 2: podcast and what you're doing and stuff like that. And
- 18:33Speaker 2: that's so interesting and so cool.
- 18:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm excited.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 18:37Speaker 1: But, you know, well, I I'm going to claim you
- 18:41Speaker 1: as a Raiders fan.
- 18:42Speaker 4: I was going to say you could take me as
- 18:44Speaker 4: the Raiders fan. I came I left as a Raiders fan.
- 18:47Speaker 4: I'll stay a Raiders fan.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Yeah, you're a Raiders fan. All right. Good, good, good.
- 18:51Speaker 1: So and you know, what's funny is it's a really
- 18:53Speaker 1: good time to be a Raiders fan because we just
- 18:54Speaker 1: got rid of Max Crosby yesterday. And I saw that
- 18:57Speaker 1: we're getting we're getting a ton younger. So it's we're
- 19:00Speaker 1: getting new players. We're getting we got a new coach.
- 19:02Speaker 1: It's a fresh start, so this is the ground-building era
- 19:06Speaker 1: right now.
- 19:07Speaker 4: I have my fingers crossed for you guys. If you win,
- 19:10Speaker 4: I'll come back. I'll be like, oh, yeah, I've always
- 19:11Speaker 4: been here.
- 19:12Speaker 2: You mean for us. Yeah, for us.
- 19:14Speaker 3: It's a great.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Time for us.
- 19:17Speaker 1: That's why I'm back. Okay, so question five. Name two
- 19:21Speaker 1: countries that are involved in the Louisiana Purchase. A little
- 19:23Speaker 1: history question.
- 19:26Speaker 3: France, right?
- 19:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:30Speaker 3: I know France. Well, and I'm assuming the United States.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Boom. Fuck yeah.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Yeah. I'm like, yes.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Um, who, uh, that's that Lewis and Clark, uh, expedition too, right? They, they,
- 19:45Speaker 1: they cross it all trying to map it out for us. Um, right,
- 19:50Speaker 1: so question number six. What does the RICO Act stand for?
- 19:55Speaker 2: Oh.
- 19:59Speaker 4: This is going to drive me insane because I do know,
- 20:01Speaker 4: but then it's just one of those things where you're
- 20:03Speaker 4: just like, I....
- 20:05Speaker 2: It's on every mob movie. I always hear about it.
- 20:07Speaker 3: I know.
- 20:09Speaker 4: Like literally the Nipsey, not the Nipsey Hussle, the other
- 20:12Speaker 4: one that he's on, the song's playing in my head
- 20:14Speaker 4: where I could just hear like, Rico.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Like I'm just like, all right. I don't even, I don't.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Relations in contraband operations. I don't know.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Racketeer influenced and corrupt organizations.
- 20:31Speaker 4: Boom.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, gotta get you.
- 20:33Speaker 3: Actually, that was my second guess.
- 20:38Speaker 2: I was just fucking with you. Um, and then, okay.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Number seven, question number seven, who is the current host
- 20:43Speaker 1: of the wheel of fortune?
- 20:47Speaker 3: Ryan Seacrest.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Yeah. Fuck it. That's awesome. I would've never got that.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Cause I didn't know that. I didn't even know that
- 20:53Speaker 2: he was, uh, I was.
- 20:54Speaker 3: Like, I know it's gone.
- 20:55Speaker 2: I was, yeah, I know everybody's gone. Uh, that I
- 20:59Speaker 2: remember growing up. Oh, uh, Alex Trebek is no longer Jeopardy.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Pat Sajan is no longer Wheel of Fortune. And Bob
- 21:07Speaker 1: Barker is no longer Price is Right.
- 21:09Speaker 4: Dude. Bob Barker wouldn't really like her. I thought, like,
- 21:12Speaker 4: I was going to make it there before he passed.
- 21:14Speaker 3: And I was like, no.
- 21:16Speaker 4: Why?
- 21:16Speaker 2: Yeah. It was kind of cool seeing Terry, though. Yeah.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Now he's, like, definitely fit the bill. Because it's been
- 21:24Speaker 1: a while. Actually, I didn't realize, but it's been a
- 21:27Speaker 1: long time now that he's been doing it.
- 21:28Speaker 2: It's been a long time.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:30Speaker 2: I can still hear Bob.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Question eight. Another history question. What was the first state
- 21:37Speaker 1: to cede the United States and be the Confederacy?
- 21:42Speaker 3: Cede the United States? Like be the first Confederate state?
- 21:46Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, that would cede.
- 21:55Speaker 3: I'm between two of them, but I'm going to go.
- 22:00Speaker 4: Oh, I'm going to go with South Carolina.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Boom. Fuck yeah.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Yes.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Like a champ.
- 22:08Speaker 3: I knew it.
- 22:09Speaker 4: I was like, I'm proud of myself because I'm like,
- 22:13Speaker 4: I was like, oh, it's got to be one of
- 22:15Speaker 4: these two.
- 22:15Speaker 3: And I'm happy I picked the right one.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:18Speaker 1: OK, so here's a here's a music question. And it goes,
- 22:21Speaker 1: name the song Eric Clapton wrote for his son that
- 22:24Speaker 1: passed away.
- 22:26Speaker 3: This is going to piss me off. This is going
- 22:28Speaker 3: to piss me off.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Fuck.
- 22:33Speaker 4: I don't, I'm, I'm like literally like, I can see
- 22:37Speaker 4: my like Spotify playlist and I'm like, where, which one
- 22:40Speaker 4: is it?
- 22:44Speaker 3: God damn it. I don't know. Forever. I'll just say forever.
- 22:48Speaker 2: He goes, would you know my name if.
- 22:53Speaker 3: I saw you in heaven?
- 22:55Speaker 2: Yeah, Tears in Heaven.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Damn.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:59Speaker 3: What's the name?
- 22:59Speaker 2: What's the title? Tears in Heaven.
- 23:01Speaker 3: Tears in heaven there yeah yeah.
- 23:03Speaker 1: It's uh it's such a it's such a sad song
- 23:05Speaker 1: because and then it's like um because the story behind
- 23:08Speaker 1: it is i think his son fell off the like
- 23:11Speaker 1: a like a like the two-story or something balcony and
- 23:14Speaker 1: i was like oh that's so sad um all right
- 23:17Speaker 1: so let's end on a high note yeah.
- 23:20Speaker 4: Oh yeah that was the last question imagine like okay
- 23:23Speaker 4: well that was nice that.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Was fun uh the um So we got Final Jeopardy here.
- 23:30Speaker 2: You can wager. Oh, I got to put the. You
- 23:32Speaker 2: can wager your points. You got five.
- 23:34Speaker 1: You have five right now. You can wager it. And
- 23:38Speaker 1: the topic is sports again. And I'll even throw some
- 23:43Speaker 1: extra shit on here. It's Raider type of history.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Oh, it's Raider related?
- 23:50Speaker 2: It's Raider history.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Okay.
- 23:53Speaker 2: So you can tell how many points you want to wager. Oh, wagers?
- 23:58Speaker 3: I'll wager three. I'm willing to do three. Keeps me
- 24:01Speaker 3: on the board if you lose, but you know.
- 24:04Speaker 1: So he goes, who was the first Latino NFL head
- 24:08Speaker 1: coach and quarterback to win two Super.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Bowls? He was a coach and a quarterback.
- 24:18Speaker 2: No, no. The coach was Latino and the quarterback was Latino.
- 24:21Speaker 3: And they won two Super Bowls.
- 24:30Speaker 2: It's funny because i i accidentally gave you i go
- 24:32Speaker 2: it's raider history so it's like i gave you the
- 24:34Speaker 2: team that it was yeah yeah i'm just i'm.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Looking for the uh the name the names of the
- 24:39Speaker 1: of the of the coach and the quarterback.
- 24:44Speaker 4: How i thought when i i'm gonna i'm just gonna
- 24:46Speaker 4: take the hit on it i'm assuming one of.
- 24:48Speaker 3: Them's a mendoza.
- 24:51Speaker 2: No, Mendoza is the new quarterback that we're supposed to.
- 24:53Speaker 3: I know that.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:54Speaker 3: I'm like the new one. But I was like, he
- 24:56Speaker 3: hasn't won any court, any of them yet.
- 24:58Speaker 2: No, no. The coach was the coach. The coach's name is.
- 25:03Speaker 3: El coche.
- 25:05Speaker 2: It's Tom Flores. It was the coach. And then the quarterback,
- 25:11Speaker 2: his name was Jim Plunkett.
- 25:12Speaker 4: And.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Yes. Yeah.
- 25:15Speaker 1: They won two Super Bowls together and both Latino quarterbacks.
- 25:18Speaker 1: and um and they weren't in the hall of fame
- 25:20Speaker 1: for the longest time like tom floor has just recently
- 25:22Speaker 1: gotten to the hall of fame but jim plunkett's still
- 25:24Speaker 1: not in the hall of fame but it took him
- 25:25Speaker 1: a long time to finally get into it but yeah
- 25:28Speaker 1: so yeah no they're there so that's that's kind of
- 25:30Speaker 1: like the gist of it and uh and you guys
- 25:32Speaker 1: are gonna enjoy lucy she's gonna bring on a lot
- 25:34Speaker 1: of uh guests and be in studio and talking shit
- 25:37Speaker 1: you're gonna get to know her a lot more uh
- 25:39Speaker 1: and and definitely gonna talk a lot of shit yeah
- 25:42Speaker 1: i'll talk a lot of a lot of cool stories
- 25:45Speaker 1: um So, yeah, and then are you going to– oh,
- 25:47Speaker 1: you're going to be with me. You're going to be
- 25:48Speaker 1: with me April 7th at the Mic Drop too as well.
- 25:51Speaker 3: April 7th.
- 25:52Speaker 2: I think it's 7th.
- 25:53Speaker 4: I'll be over there. I have a lot of little
- 25:56Speaker 4: shows coming out local. Yeah, all this month. Next month
- 25:59Speaker 4: is getting pretty booked up at this point, but they're
- 26:02Speaker 4: always just around.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely. Okay, cool. Well, thanks for coming on, and
- 26:10Speaker 2: I'll see you soon.
- 26:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll see you in April.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, for sure. All right. Check out later. Let
- 26:15Speaker 2: me just do this thing. Oh, that's right. I got
- 26:18Speaker 2: to go here.
