- 0:11Hello friends, it's Sean. Here it is Wednesday, it's the
- 0:169th of July and it's so good to have your company as we are
- 0:19continuing reading through the book of Song of Songs slash Song
- 0:25of Solomon, depending on the mood or the day or which version
- 0:28of the Bible you're reading. But today, today is a
- 0:31fascinating day. Not so much because of the
- 0:33reading. Well, it is because the reading
- 0:35is fascinating. But did you know on this day in
- 0:381962, something truly bizarre happened. the US Defence Force
- 0:43decided that it would be a good idea to test detonating a
- 0:47nuclear bomb in space. So this bomb, this, this mission
- 0:52called Starfish Prime, they sent up and detonated a nuclear
- 0:57weapon at high altitude and it created this Aurora right
- 1:01visible from Hawaii, which has never since or, or before ever
- 1:05seen an Aurora from the, the, the tropics.
- 1:11And it knocked out a bunch of satellites as well.
- 1:13Boy, what a crazy, crazy thing. We've come a long way since the
- 1:1760s. Thankfully, we're not blowing up
- 1:19bombs in space just to see what they do, but we are blowing up
- 1:24bombs of passion. Is that a strange segue?
- 1:28Yeah, that's a strange segue. I won't say that.
- 1:31We are reading emotionally charged.
- 1:34How's that? That's much better Emotionally
- 1:36charged poetry between a young man and a young woman as we
- 1:40continue reading Song of Solomon Chapter 7.
- 1:55How beautiful are your sandalled feet, O queenly maiden?
- 2:00Your rounded thighs are like jewels, the work of a skilled
- 2:04Craftsman. Your navel is perfectly formed,
- 2:08like a goblet filled with mixed wine.
- 2:11Between your thighs lies a mound of wheat bordered with lilies.
- 2:15Your breasts are like 2 fawns, twin fawns of a gazelle.
- 2:20Your neck is as beautiful as an ivory tower.
- 2:24Your eyes are like the sparkling pools in Heshbon by the gate of
- 2:29Bath Rabin. Your nose is as fine as the
- 2:33tower of Lebanon overlooking Damascus.
- 2:37Your head is as majestic as Mount Carmel, and the Sheen of
- 2:41your hair radiates royalty. The king is held captive by its
- 2:46tresses. Oh, how beautiful you are.
- 2:50How pleasing, my love, how full of delights.
- 2:54You are slender like a palm tree, and your breasts are like
- 2:57its clusters of fruit. I said I will climb the palm
- 3:02tree and take hold of its fruit. May your breasts be like grape
- 3:06clusters and the fragrance of your breath like apples.
- 3:10May your kisses be as exciting as the best wine.
- 3:16Yes, wine that goes down smoothly for my lover, flowing
- 3:20gently over lips and teeth. I am my lovers, and he claims me
- 3:25as his own. Come, my love, let us go out to
- 3:29the fields and spend the night among the wildflowers.
- 3:33Let us get up early and go to the vineyards to see if the
- 3:36grape vines have budded, if the blossoms have opened, and if the
- 3:41pomegranates have bloomed. There.
- 3:44I will give you my love there. The mandrakes give off their
- 3:47fragrance and the finest fruits are at our door.
- 3:51New delights as well as old which I have saved for you, my
- 3:55lover. Lord, be with us this day as we
- 4:07go about our days. Thank You that we have been able
- 4:11to come before you in this way that we hear Your word, as
- 4:16confusing as it is in how it fits into the grand scheme of of
- 4:23your biblical narrative. Here it is, Lord, for our
- 4:26enjoyment and edification. Lord, may the rhythm of your
- 4:31words, may the beat of your heart be with us today as we go
- 4:37about our day. May we see through your eyes and
- 4:40hear through your ears and love with your heart and be your
- 4:44presence being your love poetry to the world around us.
- 4:49We love you and we are grateful for your extravagant love for us
- 4:55and we thank you and we pray all of this in Jesus precious loving
- 4:58name, Amen.
