- C0702: Well, you just got trained to do a second job, but nobody said a word about a second paycheck. Well, my name is Sean and welcome back to Prayer Before Work. Somebody shared this with me and I I could hear how tired he was in every line. He already has a a fast-paced, demanding job. I mean, the kind where you're glued to your screen from the moment you sit down. And then he got pulled into a training session to learn a coworker's role. Because she's the only one who knows how to do it and she has no backup when she's out. And he gets why they want the coverage. that part makes total sense. But nobody's mentioned a raise or any change to his own workload. People he trusts told him to wait. Learn it, prove you can do it, and maybe the raise will come. And if it doesn't speak up then. But meanwhile, money's already tight. Not like I'd like a nicer car tight, but more like Can I cover the basics tight? And it feels like being run through the grinder for the bare minimum. So if that's where you are today, let's start with your with your heart on this before we get into the practical stuff. So let's go to Psalm 55, 22, where it says, Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you. Now that word cast, it's a throwing burden. word. You don't set something down gently, you heave it off your shoulders because it's too heavy to keep holding. So the man who wrote that psalm was worn out and hurting. But you can be that honest too. Tell God you're tired. Tell him you're scared about money. He can handle that. Now the practical part, waiting can be wise, but waiting and staying silent are two different things. You don't have to ask for a raise today. You can ask questions today and calmly without bitterness, like when she's out, which of my normal tasks can be set aside? Or how often do you expect me to cover for her? or maybe even will this be part of my next review? Is is that role going to be part of this? Anybody would need those answers to do the job well. And asking now puts your extra responsibility on the record. So you're not scrambling to try to prove it later. But while you're in that training, learn it well. Do it for yourself, not just the company, because every new skill you pick up, it goes with you wherever you go, whether you stay there or move on someday. And hear this you're not lazy for being tired, and you're not greedy for wanting enough to live on. Those are normal human things to want. So let's pray. God, we're tired. Sometimes it feels like we keep getting asked for more while the paycheck stays the same. We're throwing that weight on you because we can't carry it by ourselves. Sustain us today. Give us the right words and the right timing to ask for what we need. And Lord, provide for us in the places we're worried about. And remind us that our worth is not just measured by how much extra work we can take on. In Jesus' name, Amen. I go make today count.
