- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the topic of today's show is are the Jaguar's Super Bowl contenders.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna talk about that.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: Five weeks in, almost a third of the season, right?
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there's 17 games now, so if five games, I mean, you know, it's basically a third of the season.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: After six games, you'll be over a third of the season complete.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: Six games is a big one.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: See, I'll see you all coming into town.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to preview that game tomorrow, normally the game preview for the upcoming game comes out on Thursday.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: With everything that has happened this week, it's getting pushed to tomorrow morning, Friday morning.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a whirlwind, it's been a blur, it's been a marathon and a sprint so far, but it's been a lot of fun.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: Appreciate y'all being here.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: So are the Jaguar Super Bowl contenders?
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: is we are five games in.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: There is a long, long, long way to go.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if the rest of the regular season, 12 games, if you make the playoffs, either have to win four or three games, depending on how you finish the regular season.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a long road, it's a difficult road.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: It is a,
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's like passing through the eye of a needle for for most teams.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: Not all teams, all right.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: Eagles, chiefs, they've made a habit of getting there as of late, especially the chiefs.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: But for pretty much anybody else to make it, especially from the AFC lately, it's literally like threading the eye of a needle.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: It is difficult to do.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: And there's a long way to go.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: So everything that we talk about today needs to be put into the context of there are still 12 regular season games left.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: There's still a lot of football to be played.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot that can change from now to the end of the regular season and from the end of the regular season to the Super Bowl.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: So it is a long way to go.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: But yes, I think that the Jack Wars are legitimate contenders in the AFC right now.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to get into the reasons why.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: If you all enjoy the content here, you want to support the channel for whether you want to look good while doing it, go check out jingjag.com, lot of fun, do-volg here.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: So it starts with coaching and my, I mean, everything matters, right?
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: But when I think about coaching, you have to be a well-coached team to win the Super Bowl, to make it to the Super Bowl.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: you just have to, you've seen, I mean, the Eagles are a great example in my opinion, they needed better coaching to get to the Super Bowl and to win the Super Bowl despite being a very talented roster.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: You saw it last year.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: They got Vic Fangeo in there.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: And they got our boy Kellen Moore, who's now at the Saints.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: They got professional coaching on offense, and they got a mastermind on defense.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: And they got a lot of talent too.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: But you have to have both the chiefs.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously Patrick Mahomes is an unbelievable player, and they've had a lot of really good players there for a long time, but without Andy Reed without Steve Spagnolo, those Superbowls aren't happening.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: you have to have great coaching.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: I believe the Jaguars have great coaching.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: I believe so strongly in Liam Cohen, Anthony Campanylee, Heath Farwell, the assistants and on the staff.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they, first of all, connect with their players.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: they connect with them on a personal level.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: Second of all, they know how to teach what they want from the scheme.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: They know how to teach players to understand the whole picture without being bogged down too much.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: They have, I mean, Campanile and Cohen both have two of the most complex systems on offense and defense respectively in the NFL right now.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: The fact that the Jack Wars are executing the way they have, which has been up and down at times, right?
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: On both sides, mostly up on defense.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: It's been really impressive in my opinion.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: And yes, the offense has had pre-snapsed off again and incredibly complicated pre-snap offense.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: There is so much operational things that you have to be aware of and cognizant of in this offense.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that they can continue to grow within the offense, the entire group of players on offense can continue to grow within the offense and within the scheme.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: But you have to be able to connect, teach,
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: and then you have to be able to dial it up X's and those Y's and I think both of these guys can do that in an extremely high level.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: So it starts with coaching.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguar has have the coaching.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: I also believe they have upper level talent in a lot of spots.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: Why do you see Ver?
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: You're gonna see that.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: You're starting to see it.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: Quarterback, you're starting to see it.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: Running back, you've been seeing it a lot this whole year.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: Offensive line has been excellent.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: They don't have maybe any superstars on the offensive line.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: Anton Harrison's been battling through an elbow the last couple weeks, but he's a damn good player.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: Robert Hainesy is a damn good player.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: Walker Little is pretty good as well.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: I left tackle.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: He's had some ups and downs, but he's a good player as a Cleveland's a good player.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: Patrick McCary, they've got depth as well.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: That offensive line, offensive line, a lot of people talk about it's a weakling system.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: What is the weakling in the offensive line right now?
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think there really is one.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that has played out throughout the five weeks we've seen so far.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: The jaguars have gone up against some really good defensive fronts.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: And they have allowed some of the lowest pressurates in football and they've consistently created space for the running backs.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: Edge, obviously, you know what you have in Josh Hinesown and Trablem Walker, and I think you have good depth.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: Interior, defense of line is pretty good.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: Like Devon Hamilton is a really good run stuffer.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: Eric Rarmstedt has mostly been pretty effective as a past rusher you're starting to see Mason Smith through a little bit Austin Johnson's a good depth player, right?
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: Linebacker to me is great.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: Devon Lloyd's playing at an MVP level, defensive MVP level, foil,
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: a leader, safety is good.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think corner back is better than it was.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not afraid to say that I think Greg Newsom's a better player than Tyson Campbell does that mean he's gonna come here and be an all-pro?
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: I do think he's certainly much more aggressive and attacking the football.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think he is more confident in his coverage skills.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think he can track the ball down the field and at the very least get an eye on it, get his head around and locate the damn thing.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: And this is not to slam Tyson Campbell, you know, if he goes to Cleveland and Jim Schwartz is able to get the most out of him, which is what I hope happens.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: I really do.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: If they can get like somewhere close to the 2022 Tyson Campbell that we all saw, that would be fantastic for his career.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: And then it can be potentially a win-win for both sides, right?
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I think that, you know, every, every, you go down the list with the Jaguar's personnel.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: It looks pretty damn good everywhere.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: Special teams look like it's turning a corner as well.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: Logan Cook, extremely talented, Cam Little, extremely talented, Ross Mattis, a very talented a lot of good coverage players, and you're starting to see the return game a little bit too.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe more than a little bit.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, James Gladstone.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: You gotta have a good GM as well, and I don't think the Jaguars are done trading for players right now.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: According to ESPN's Mike Duraco, we can pull it up right now.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: The exact quote that Mike Duraco provided in DRock does just such a fantastic job cover in this football team for ESPN.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguars fans are lucky that DRock is the guy for ESPN in my opinion.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: We'll go to what he had here.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: The Jack Wars have not had any discussions with Newsom or his agent regarding a contract extension, but emphasized this trade was not a rental.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: An extension is not out of the realm of possibility, but it's not part of the act of equation of the trade right now.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: Gladstone also said that he, that this may not be the last trade, the team makes between now and the trade deadline to win the AFC South.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: We are trying to win football games and part of this trade is that we think Greg Newsom helps us do that.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: We will be aggressive to make us the best possible team this year.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: James Gladstone.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: He's not done improving this football team.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: My next question for you is, who is better than the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC right now?
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: Who is it?
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: Is it the Colts?
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they got a pretty darn complete team.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: They're well-coached on both sides.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: Do I believe the Colts are a better team than the Jaguars?
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: I don't.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna find out.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's the great thing about that one.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: We'll find out.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: Down the stretch, Colton Jaguars have two late-season games.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: That's good, that's that's fun.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm still not a huge believer in Daniel Jones.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe he'll prove me wrong, maybe not.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: Are the chiefs better?
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: Are they?
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: They could be at the end of the season, maybe.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: You know, get your she rise back.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I think you could make the argument, but the Jacks just beat them.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: despite getting absolutely hosed on some calls.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: Are the bills better?
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think so.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, look, I love Josh Allen, hell of a player.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: They've got some good offensive weapons, good offensive line, all that stuff.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think their defense is worth much right now.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's not a good defense.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: They need help.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: And they're injured, right?
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: They are, but they need some help on the defensive side.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: are the Steelers better?
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that is even a real question, but because of their record, we have to bring up that name.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: Are the Chargers better?
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: With that offensive line, I don't think so.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_00]: I really don't.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think they have some deficiency as well.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: We'll get to see the Jacks take them on and Jacksonville.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: Are the Broncos better?
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think so.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I think the Jag Wars when you look at the Jag Wars compared to these other teams, each one of these teams is like, oh, they have a great strength, but they have a weakness.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: What is the Jag Wars true weakness right now?
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see one, are the Texans better?
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: Are there two and three now?
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: No, I don't think they're better.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think right now, the Jag Wars are the best team in the AFC.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, you don't win the Super Bowl in week six, though.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't happen until February.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: So a lot has to happen and a lot needs to improve.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: For the Jaguars to be there at the end in the AFC.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: Now the NFC, if you talk about actually making it to the Super Bowl, the NFC kind of scares me still.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: Like there's not a single team in the AFC that if the Jaguars line up against them right now, I'd be scared of.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: I would be
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: a little worried about playing the Lions, Eagles, Packers.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't really be scared of the bucks or 49ers, respect them, but not like truly fearful of them.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_00]: Seahawks, they gotta get healthy on defense before we can really start to talk about that.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_00]: And we'll see them this weekend.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_00]: Commanders, I'm not really scared of, I mean, Jaden Daniels is a great player, but they're not scaring me right now.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_00]: This team, you know, they've got the attitude, I love it.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: I love even adding more attitude with Greg Newsom.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: I love the work ethic.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Liam Cohen's talking about, he doesn't want to say that they're the most pissed off for in one team in the league or ever or whatever, but they're kind of pissed off because they have not played anywhere close to the level that they can play, and that brings me to my final point, the ceiling on this team, I think, is through the roof.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_00]: They're just starting to scratch the surface with that passing game, Trevor Lawrence and Travis Hunter and Brian Thomas Jr.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: They have a really good running game.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_00]: The run defense needs to take a step back in the right direction after having a really strong first four weeks of the season.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think again, you now have a better cover corner than you had yesterday at this time.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_00]: And Travis Hunter's starting to play great football, Jordan Lewis is a great football player.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_00]: Travel Walker coming back, hopefully this week, but definitely soon.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think the jackwares are in a great spot.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_00]: And I do think that they are AFC title contenders right now.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_00]: But long way to go.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_00]: Long way to go.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: And it's gonna fly by.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: It is, but there's a long way to go.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_00]: and a lot of improvement that can be made and that needs to be made if they want to be that team because it gets a lot harder in January because a lot harder once it's winter, go home.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars know that, Liam Cohen knows that, but they've got some work to do.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_00]: So does everybody else in the league.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all being here.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all have a good one.
