- 0:00Speaker 1: Do you just want to say one more thing before
- 0:02Speaker 1: we close out. Jordan who we talked about, Uh, Jordan
- 0:07Speaker 1: Mason with sin A Links. He has a charity program
- 0:13Speaker 1: called Real Outreach where he sends underprivileged kids, mostly in
- 0:18Speaker 1: group homes, to the movies. But he does a holiday
- 0:25Speaker 1: fundraiser every year for movie themed gift baskets for kids
- 0:29Speaker 1: in hospitals. And they've already raised Uh it's thirty five
- 0:34Speaker 1: dollars per gift basket and they've already raised enough money
- 0:38Speaker 1: for forty gift baskets and that's the most that they've
- 0:41Speaker 1: ever had out of this fundraiser for the holiday season.
- 0:46Speaker 1: So if you guys are open to that. The Twitter
- 0:50Speaker 1: account is Real Outreach and it's real like a movie reel.
- 0:53Speaker 1: So our E E L Outreach is the user name,
- 0:59Speaker 1: and so you can go find that GoFundMe. But it's
- 1:03Speaker 1: a really good thing that he does, bringing a little
- 1:06Speaker 1: bit of holiday cheer, a little bit of the movies
- 1:09Speaker 1: that we love and appreciate so much. If you guys
- 1:14Speaker 1: don't mind donating, that would be great. But another good
- 1:17Speaker 1: opportunity is Geek Versus Extra Life charity fundraiser for the
- 1:22Speaker 1: hospitals in I don't know which part of Canada, but
- 1:26Speaker 1: it's Canada that fund their charity. Stream is this Saturday
- 1:33Speaker 1: for our stream, and I don't care what. I can't
- 1:38Speaker 1: say what play is doing, but I'm on team Taylor.
- 1:41Speaker 2: So oh, yeah, you didn't hear anything. Actually, I don't
- 1:46Speaker 2: think it's been announced yet.
- 1:47Speaker 1: So yeah, it's not announced yet.
- 1:49Speaker 2: No anything. I'm quiet, not saying anything. Don't want the
- 1:55Speaker 2: geek first snipers to come after me. I didn't say anything.
- 1:58Speaker 2: It was Katie anyway, But that is The trivia.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Is at four pm Eastern Standard time on Saturday, and
- 2:07Speaker 1: it's on the first YouTube channel, which if you're here
- 2:09Speaker 1: on YouTube with us, that is where you can find us.
- 2:14Speaker 1: So yeah, come back on Saturday.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Yeah, it's gonna be always a blast. It's it's always
- 2:21Speaker 2: a blast. I will say. The last four years, holy crap,
- 2:29Speaker 2: it has been a very quick four years.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I have.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I have gotten the chance to watch a majority of
- 2:40Speaker 2: their stream, hang out with them. They like, we are
- 2:44Speaker 2: a family, like. They have been so great to us.
- 2:47Speaker 2: They give they gave us this opportunity, uh to be
- 2:50Speaker 2: on their channel with the show. And we're all nerds,
- 2:54Speaker 2: we all love each other, we all love these ipsu
- 2:58Speaker 2: and it's gonna be a lot of fun. So you know,
- 3:02Speaker 2: just I'm just gonna say, be on the lookout for
- 3:07Speaker 2: what for what I have in store for.
- 3:10Speaker 3: The Force will be with you always.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Hello, everyone, Welcome back to another episode of Star Wars Lines,
- 3:33Speaker 4: your home on the geek Ultimate Lines podcast Hotwork for
- 3:36Speaker 4: any and all things Star Wars. I'm your host as always,
- 3:40Speaker 4: It's Katie and Clays with me is always as well.
- 3:44Speaker 1: We were a little late because we had parenting duties.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Yes we did. Abby went out for a small dry
- 3:52Speaker 2: I just hit my mic. I apologize. Abby went out
- 3:56Speaker 2: to do like a couple uh Aaron, and I was like, okay,
- 4:01Speaker 2: remember I recorded seven. She's like, oh yeah, plenty of time.
- 4:05Speaker 2: And it was like six thirty five and I was like, hey,
- 4:09Speaker 2: I recorded seven. And I didn't get a response. But
- 4:14Speaker 2: I did a quick check on location and she was
- 4:19Speaker 2: already heading this way, so I'm like, okay, cool, And
- 4:22Speaker 2: then like ten minutes past, I'm like, she should already
- 4:24Speaker 2: be here, and like sometimes when I look at the location,
- 4:28Speaker 2: she's like right at the front door. So I'm like,
- 4:30Speaker 2: I don't know why I look, but I looked anyway,
- 4:33Speaker 2: and she had only moved like what looked like a block,
- 4:36Speaker 2: and I was like, oh crap, there must be a
- 4:38Speaker 2: lot of traffic, and there was. So that's that. And
- 4:42Speaker 2: also I survived my wisdom teeth pulling, even after Katie
- 4:50Speaker 2: tried to scare me to death and get me paranoid
- 4:55Speaker 2: and scared of the dittist.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I just need everybody just that. He sent me a
- 5:01Speaker 1: gift on Saturday and was like, the pain medication is
- 5:04Speaker 1: wearing off.
- 5:05Speaker 2: You were right, Oh, it was the worst thing ever.
- 5:09Speaker 2: So when it happened, Uh, I know this is a
- 5:13Speaker 2: side tangent. Being awake during that whole experience was wild
- 5:21Speaker 2: because it's not like they like keep you awake, but
- 5:25Speaker 2: you're a little loopy. No, you're awake and everything's just numb.
- 5:30Speaker 2: So that was wild. I like I did feel it
- 5:36Speaker 2: when they were pulling the second one, the bottom one,
- 5:39Speaker 2: so they actually had to continuously give me some more
- 5:42Speaker 2: numbing agent.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Uh.
- 5:43Speaker 2: They actually had to crack the bottom one in half
- 5:47Speaker 2: like old school like chisel and like just hammer it
- 5:51Speaker 2: down and then like snap it. That was wild. But yeah,
- 5:57Speaker 2: we we had that going going on, and then I
- 6:02Speaker 2: was numb, like for four hours after the procedure, and
- 6:04Speaker 2: I'm like, Katie was totally wrong. I don't feel anything.
- 6:10Speaker 2: It's and then I slowly started to feel from my
- 6:15Speaker 2: chin all the way down to like my ear lobe,
- 6:19Speaker 2: and I was like, oh my god, this is the
- 6:23Speaker 2: worst feeling I have ever felt in my entire life.
- 6:28Speaker 2: And then I got some really nice pain meds and
- 6:31Speaker 2: everything was better. So today is my first day without them.
- 6:37Speaker 2: I didn't feel the need to have pain meds, and
- 6:41Speaker 2: my procedure was done on Saturdays, so I'm actually, uh,
- 6:46Speaker 2: pretty proud of myself that like, because everyone's like, oh,
- 6:49Speaker 2: you know, like this is the stuff that you can
- 6:51Speaker 2: get addicted on, and da da da. I'm like, okay,
- 6:54Speaker 2: I'm gonna slow down on these pain meds. Then I am.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I feel great. I feel good. It feels a little weird,
- 7:03Speaker 2: like knowing that I don't have any teeth there and
- 7:06Speaker 2: so I continuously like have my tongue just like whoa,
- 7:10Speaker 2: you know, But yeah, I'm fine. We have normal news
- 7:19Speaker 2: as far as Star Wars go. Do have a special
- 7:22Speaker 2: announcement that I do want to go ahead and say
- 7:26Speaker 2: prior to our review today, because of course today is
- 7:30Speaker 2: going this week is going to be a book review.
- 7:33Speaker 2: But I want everybody to know about this big thing
- 7:37Speaker 2: that me and Katie have been planning for a little bit.
- 7:41Speaker 2: So is it okay if I go ahead and say
- 7:42Speaker 2: it or do you want to wait for it? All right?
- 7:45Speaker 2: So guys joining us live on November thirteenth, mark your
- 7:55Speaker 2: calendar's people, Okay, Stephen Barnes is going to be joining
- 8:03Speaker 2: us for a questionnaire on glass of this and of
- 8:10Speaker 2: course just his time with Lucasfilm and his writing process.
- 8:15Speaker 2: It's going to be so much fun. Katie and I
- 8:18Speaker 2: have had the opportunity to speak with him and we
- 8:24Speaker 2: gave him a couple of dates and we're like, okay,
- 8:26Speaker 2: you know, we can do a regular recording and it
- 8:28Speaker 2: can drop at a later date. And he was like, actually,
- 8:32Speaker 2: I've actually done a couple lives before, so I'm used
- 8:36Speaker 2: to that. Let's do that one that makes me more comfortable.
- 8:38Speaker 2: And I was like, cool, let's do it. So he's
- 8:41Speaker 2: going to be joining us November thirteenth for the Star
- 8:46Speaker 2: Wars Alliance Live show, So mark the calendars, seven pm
- 8:50Speaker 2: Eastern Standard Time, like always, It's going to be so
- 8:55Speaker 2: much fun.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Yes, very excited for this. So if you have any questions,
- 9:02Speaker 1: that you'd like clan and I to ask, oh, yeah,
- 9:06Speaker 1: you know, if you have any questions you might get
- 9:09Speaker 1: an answer.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Yeah, about his prior book, which I am going to
- 9:13Speaker 2: attempt to speed read in the next it is oh
- 9:21Speaker 2: shoot you sent it to me? Yes, yes, cess this deception.
- 9:29Speaker 2: I will attempt to get that read. If not at
- 9:34Speaker 2: least So, Katie, where do you want to go with?
- 9:39Speaker 2: First with the regular weekly news, So.
- 9:44Speaker 1: We have another update on the new Jedi order a
- 9:49Speaker 1: ka the Red the Ray Skywalker film. We have changed
- 9:55Speaker 1: writers again. Now, of course this is a process in Hollywood.
- 10:02Speaker 1: We've talked about it before with the last couple writer drops.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Obviously you don't like seeing this many writer changes, and
- 10:11Speaker 1: it's not something that's very typical like you probably see
- 10:14Speaker 1: like four or five script renditions before, like getting like
- 10:20Speaker 1: a confirmed one. Yeah, it's more publicized because it's Star Wars.
- 10:25Speaker 1: We repeat this every time one's big news because it's
- 10:28Speaker 1: an ip mm hmm.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Yeah, we see. It doesn't look good, it doesn't, it doesn't.
- 10:36Speaker 2: We had a small discussion about this me you and
- 10:39Speaker 2: of course Travis Snell in our Star Wars Alliance chat
- 10:43Speaker 2: in regards to like, is this a sign of doom
- 10:49Speaker 2: for this film, and you know, I was saying, like, oh,
- 10:54Speaker 2: you know the announcement, because we are going to talk
- 10:57Speaker 2: about this. Apparently Risley was like teasing some stuff like oh,
- 11:03Speaker 2: but there's good news on the rise. But it was
- 11:06Speaker 2: kind of like after and before this news had hit,
- 11:12Speaker 2: so people are like, well, this can't be the news,
- 11:15Speaker 2: Like she couldn't be teasing bad news. That's weird. So
- 11:19Speaker 2: there has to be something good out there. But I
- 11:24Speaker 2: looked at it in a different light, and I don't
- 11:26Speaker 2: know if I necessarily will say this is my actual
- 11:29Speaker 2: opinion on the quote unquote success of Star Wars, But
- 11:34Speaker 2: I said, here's one thing you can technically look at
- 11:37Speaker 2: when you look at the success of Star Wars. Look
- 11:40Speaker 2: at the space between episodes six and one, one and
- 11:45Speaker 2: three and seven. What that I can't even read my
- 11:49Speaker 2: own typing between six and one and three and seven.
- 11:54Speaker 2: So basically, look in between the time the amount of
- 11:58Speaker 2: time that it took between each trilogy. Each trilogy in
- 12:04Speaker 2: its own right, was successful, regardless of what your opinions
- 12:09Speaker 2: on are on each film. It gathered so much success
- 12:15Speaker 2: to want to continue forward, correct. So when looking at
- 12:20Speaker 2: it that way, I even said, I would hate for
- 12:25Speaker 2: Lucasfilm to look at at this this way, but it's
- 12:28Speaker 2: how I have to rationalize until they get their shit together,
- 12:34Speaker 2: that's basically what I'll do. I'll be like, Okay, well,
- 12:37Speaker 2: you know, first trilogy was successful, and they didn't start
- 12:40Speaker 2: making more Star Wars films until the nineteen nineties, and
- 12:44Speaker 2: then that was successful enough to the point where we
- 12:48Speaker 2: didn't get new films until twenty fourteen or twenty sixteen,
- 12:52Speaker 2: I can't remember, but like, there was huge gaps in
- 12:57Speaker 2: between these trilogies, and so in retrospect, you can't be like, oh,
- 13:03Speaker 2: Star Wars is such like a failure and it's never
- 13:07Speaker 2: gonna come back and all of these other things, because
- 13:11Speaker 2: history has proven that's not true. Right, So it's.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Really not like you can't say that Disney's failing Star
- 13:20Speaker 1: Wars when they have just as many, if not more
- 13:25Speaker 1: books publishing yearly than Lucasfilm did, and these film these books.
- 13:31Speaker 1: You can say all you want that these books are
- 13:33Speaker 1: not canon and that Disney doesn't respect it. Disney's brought
- 13:37Speaker 1: plenty of these book characters into play, so they're more
- 13:43Speaker 1: respected than the legends ever was really as a as
- 13:48Speaker 1: canon material and they've still put out almost as many
- 13:55Speaker 1: movies as Lucasfilm did without Disney, and more TVs shows. Yeah,
- 14:03Speaker 1: a less amount of time. We just had the tenth
- 14:07Speaker 1: anniversary of Disney buying Lucasfilm, Like I think it was
- 14:12Speaker 1: literally two days ago. Yeah, like ten years. We've had
- 14:17Speaker 1: a bunch of books. We've had five movies, and we've
- 14:21Speaker 1: had one, two, three for five, six TV shows.
- 14:28Speaker 2: And you have to think about like freaking Young Jedi
- 14:35Speaker 2: Adventures has multiple seasons, Resistance had Clone Wars Revival, like
- 14:42Speaker 2: all of these, like it has been a success. Again,
- 14:46Speaker 2: regardless of one's own opinion. You look at the numbers,
- 14:51Speaker 2: you look at the dollar signs, it has been successful.
- 14:57Speaker 2: But what I do want to ask you is, we
- 15:01Speaker 2: saw this post from John Roca. He had a source
- 15:11Speaker 2: that pretty much told him this about the writer Stephen
- 15:16Speaker 2: Knight a while back, so far back to it being
- 15:21Speaker 2: August twenty third is the date that he mentioned in
- 15:25Speaker 2: his tweet. And this individual, again not being named, and
- 15:29Speaker 2: it is not even named in his post, said a
- 15:33Speaker 2: couple of things, And I want to know your opinion
- 15:37Speaker 2: on if this means that, like, oh, you have to
- 15:41Speaker 2: get it right. As far as the Race Skywalker movie
- 15:45Speaker 2: or is there too many hands in the cookie jar here?
- 15:49Speaker 2: So this is the message that Roca showed on his
- 15:53Speaker 2: post of this Scooper telling him what's going on. Steven
- 15:57Speaker 2: Knight has passed in at least four versions of the
- 16:01Speaker 2: Race Star Wars movie script. He may have passed in
- 16:04Speaker 2: even more. Lucasfilm found issues with all of them, and
- 16:08Speaker 2: I've heard he's just about done with the whole project,
- 16:12Speaker 2: and I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves NonStop notes
- 16:15Speaker 2: and issues with where the story goes from the higher ups.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's that's the thing, right, Is the entirety
- 16:30Speaker 1: of the Lucasfolma zagboard diving into this process or is
- 16:35Speaker 1: it just filony? Like that would be a question that
- 16:40Speaker 1: I would have because Rocha source uses higher ups. But
- 16:47Speaker 1: I mean we only we know that there's one, there's
- 16:50Speaker 1: the story group, but then there's Dave Filoni.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Yeah, so.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I would be cheerious. Obviously, we're not ever gonna know.
- 17:01Speaker 1: It's not gonna happen. Obviously, if you have this many
- 17:05Speaker 1: writer changes, and especially with this, it doesn't look good
- 17:11Speaker 1: for Lucasfilm. But is it also a question of Hey,
- 17:16Speaker 1: Lucasfilm has just put out like average, so people are going, okay,
- 17:22Speaker 1: we can just give you average, but Lucasfilm is looking
- 17:24Speaker 1: for like a very high quality script, Like you could
- 17:27Speaker 1: go both ways with this feel.
- 17:31Speaker 2: This is why, like I'm this is what makes me
- 17:34Speaker 2: a little worried though, to be completely honest, when it
- 17:38Speaker 2: comes to Star Wars, and me and Travis Snell have
- 17:43Speaker 2: argued about this so many times when it comes to
- 17:47Speaker 2: things like Batman. But in regards to Star Wars, you
- 17:53Speaker 2: have this ideal. I guess what would the right phrasing be.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Look at what Star Wars could be, right, it is
- 18:06Speaker 2: space ships, lightsabers, some sort of clone trooper stormtrooper type
- 18:15Speaker 2: of ordeal Sith and Jedi and Light versus Dark, and
- 18:23Speaker 2: you have like all of the small pieces of Star Wars,
- 18:29Speaker 2: and you just make a Star Wars film. But there's
- 18:33Speaker 2: some people that are going into Star Wars looking for
- 18:39Speaker 2: an Oscar worthy script. Yeah, in my mind, I don't
- 18:46Speaker 2: think that can happen, you know, And it's I know
- 18:51Speaker 2: that like people will be like, oh, well, that's just
- 18:54Speaker 2: that that's not true. It can totally happen, And I
- 18:57Speaker 2: guess you're right, but I'm not why.
- 18:59Speaker 1: I did, And I'm gonna tell you why, Ryan Johnson
- 19:04Speaker 1: last Jedi. That is that is the peak Star Wars
- 19:08Speaker 1: script right there.
- 19:11Speaker 2: I would say yes, but a lot of any awards.
- 19:17Speaker 1: But yes, I think this is going into the whole
- 19:21Speaker 1: debacle with the hey, we need fan approval, we need
- 19:26Speaker 1: to have the fan voting board.
- 19:29Speaker 2: I forgot about that. It still makes me icky, like
- 19:36Speaker 2: just thinking about the fan board and and how all
- 19:41Speaker 2: that's gonna I hope that is dissolved. I hope that
- 19:44Speaker 2: is silently dissolved. Also, I just want to give a
- 19:47Speaker 2: shout out to Andrew. In the chat, he is saying, hey,
- 19:51Speaker 2: I bought this trilogy earlier this year thanks to a
- 19:54Speaker 2: recommendation from Katie. Did I give you that recommendation?
- 19:59Speaker 1: I don't know if I get that recommendation, Andrew, but
- 20:01Speaker 1: I will. I will take the credit I might have said.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I might have said that this was the first Cannon books,
- 20:16Speaker 1: so that might be a reason to.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Pick it up. Oh okay, okay, okay, I don't know.
- 20:20Speaker 1: I've not recommended this to anyone.
- 20:23Speaker 2: We we've we've had a couple strong opinions on this trilogy.
- 20:29Speaker 2: But Andrew also says I love The Last Jedi, and
- 20:32Speaker 2: I'm not afraid to say it that's good. I am
- 20:35Speaker 2: proud of anybody who is not afraid to say that
- 20:38Speaker 2: The Last Jedi is a good movie because it is
- 20:41Speaker 2: a good movie. Yes, But in regards to that, like,
- 20:45Speaker 2: I'm not looking for an A twenty four script for
- 20:49Speaker 2: Star Wars, you know. Yeah, it's it's it's just it's
- 20:52Speaker 2: it's not there. It's not what the genre is, it's
- 20:56Speaker 2: not what the IP is. And if we.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Talked about it, we talked about it with Book Boa
- 21:07Speaker 1: fet not everything has to be good or not everything
- 21:12Speaker 1: has to be great.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it doesn't need to be great because if
- 21:17Speaker 2: you always have fantastic things.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Then you will never appreciate the singular parts.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Like and and you will be spoiled to the point
- 21:31Speaker 2: of when there is just a good show or a
- 21:34Speaker 2: good movie, you'll think it's crap. And I don't appreciate that.
- 21:39Speaker 2: I don't think that's that's great for uh TV, film
- 21:44Speaker 2: anything like it's it's somewhat happening to video games also,
- 21:48Speaker 2: like there's there's moments where you can be like, oh,
- 21:51Speaker 2: this is a good game, but because it doesn't have
- 21:54Speaker 2: all the bells and whistles of Triple A games and
- 21:57Speaker 2: everything else. People think it's bad, and I don't think
- 22:00Speaker 2: that's true at all.
- 22:03Speaker 5: But I.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Hope that in this light of finding out that you know,
- 22:14Speaker 2: Night decided to walk away because of so many you know,
- 22:19Speaker 2: notes on his script. I almost want to say, like,
- 22:26Speaker 2: why don't you go with somebody that you've already worked with?
- 22:31Speaker 2: It a broat, don't fix it, you know?
- 22:36Speaker 1: And I think I think Ryan Johnson really understood the
- 22:41Speaker 1: process for the Jedi in interpreting everything appropriately. Yeah, the
- 22:50Speaker 1: problem was the fan reaction, Uh not fan reaction, because
- 22:53Speaker 1: I'm not saying it was fan reaction, the loudmouse haters
- 23:01Speaker 1: who can't appreciate a decent romance. Oh yeah, this book
- 23:10Speaker 1: trilogy is decent, not great, but not horrible either. He said. Also,
- 23:14Speaker 1: it's the anniversary of Disney Bank Serros. Yeah, I talked
- 23:16Speaker 1: about that.
- 23:17Speaker 2: We mentioned that literally, I think, right before you jumped
- 23:21Speaker 2: into the chest actually, but yeah. So in regards to
- 23:30Speaker 2: the Ray movie, Daisy originally discussed the New Jedi Order
- 23:36Speaker 2: movie and hints that it will be the first in
- 23:40Speaker 2: a series.
- 23:42Speaker 1: So yes, So this makes me think because she also
- 23:46Speaker 1: talks about how she was excited about the changes that
- 23:48Speaker 1: were coming and everything with what she's seen for the
- 23:54Speaker 1: movie and everything, and so this makes me think that
- 23:57Speaker 1: maybe Roches is.
- 23:58Speaker 2: It Rocha Roka.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Roca Roca's Broca's tweet. He may have been right on
- 24:07Speaker 1: the timing, and so Lucasfohm had kind of already gone
- 24:13Speaker 1: in another direction, but then it's just now coming out.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Yeah, kind of it's just now leaking.
- 24:19Speaker 1: So uh, Like, I don't think she's gonna be excited
- 24:25Speaker 1: about a writer leaving a movie unless he was just awful,
- 24:28Speaker 1: like and was like, because I mean there really is,
- 24:32Speaker 1: Like people want to see a female writer right ray
- 24:36Speaker 1: just to kind of see what can happen. I mean,
- 24:39Speaker 1: we kind of got like because we know Carrie Fisher
- 24:43Speaker 1: edited the Last Jedi, Like she and Ryan Johnson were
- 24:46Speaker 1: constantly doing edits on the movie, so like, but we
- 24:51Speaker 1: want to see a female's take on him because there's
- 24:54Speaker 1: so much at stake with her taking on an iconic
- 24:59Speaker 1: name for the universe of Star Wars, so to kind
- 25:05Speaker 1: of have somebody that can handle that pressure. But right
- 25:09Speaker 1: the female geze on that I think will be super important.
- 25:12Speaker 1: So I hope that that's somebody who's being ripped in.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Even though the names that we've heard taking over the
- 25:19Speaker 1: writer spots for this movie are very iconic writers. I
- 25:24Speaker 1: do think it's important to get a female look at this,
- 25:28Speaker 1: knowing our main character is the first main female.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Jedi one hundred, I would be decently like. I think
- 25:43Speaker 2: I would be more intrigued. She had some hits, some misses,
- 25:51Speaker 2: but over it WB.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Christine, Yeah that girl flash.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Uh.
- 26:06Speaker 2: I don't know what her name was, Hudson. Christina Hudson
- 26:12Speaker 2: is her name. She apparently had some like from what
- 26:17Speaker 2: I had seen in her filmography. Again, some misses, some hits.
- 26:23Speaker 2: A lot of people loved Birds of Prey. I thought
- 26:28Speaker 2: it was okay. I love Bumblebee. She did Bumblebee like,
- 26:32Speaker 2: so I think that there is potential there. I would
- 26:37Speaker 2: love to see her on ray. But also one thing
- 26:41Speaker 2: that I would also really be interested in, I don't know.
- 26:47Speaker 2: I mean, DC is doing it with their writer's room
- 26:52Speaker 2: and bringing in comic book writers. I would love to
- 26:57Speaker 2: see Alyssa Wong mm hmm get into Hollywood and jump
- 27:03Speaker 2: on that. That would be amazing.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a really good idea. Sorry, y'all, I'm lunching.
- 27:13Speaker 2: I am super jealous because although I feel up to
- 27:18Speaker 2: probably eating anything. My gums are still kind of raw,
- 27:22Speaker 2: and I can't eat anything crunchy or sharp or spicy.
- 27:27Speaker 1: So this is my ask. I need Perfect Bar to
- 27:29Speaker 1: sponsor me because these are like the best protein bars
- 27:34Speaker 1: and they're so soft. Now I think technically they're a
- 27:37Speaker 1: meal replacement because they're like three hundred and thirty calories,
- 27:42Speaker 1: But like when I have a six month old who
- 27:44Speaker 1: is very clingy at the moment, like a bar is
- 27:47Speaker 1: something that you need. So yeah, yes, Perfect Bar, please
- 27:51Speaker 1: sponsor the podcast because I eat these like every other podcast.
- 27:59Speaker 2: So I going back to the uh to the idea
- 28:04Speaker 2: of this being a trilogy or I didn't even it
- 28:07Speaker 2: didn't say trilogy, but it said first in a series.
- 28:11Speaker 2: We can almost assume a trilogy just because it's Star Wars.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Do you think the first movie is a passing of
- 28:19Speaker 2: the torch?
- 28:22Speaker 1: I mean, right now, it's supposed to be fifteen years
- 28:24Speaker 1: after Rise of Skywalker, so it could legitimately be. I
- 28:30Speaker 1: don't know how you don't take advantage of Ridley, who
- 28:35Speaker 1: absolutely wants to be involved in the franchise right now.
- 28:38Speaker 1: I mean she came out and you didn't even have
- 28:40Speaker 1: a script like That's something Snell talked about is like
- 28:43Speaker 1: you put Daisy Ridley on stage, you didn't even have
- 28:46Speaker 1: a script.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Like yeah, yeah, so that's it's it's unheard of in
- 28:54Speaker 2: almost any other franchise and or just any movie.
- 29:00Speaker 1: These actors. My point is, though, is these actors want
- 29:04Speaker 1: to be here. Yeah, Like, yes, you could easily go
- 29:10Speaker 1: with Okay, we're gonna pass the torch, We're gonna go
- 29:12Speaker 1: ahead and move on to the next generation. But why
- 29:16Speaker 1: would you do that when Daisy wants to be here?
- 29:22Speaker 2: I I agree, I agree, And like there's there's talks
- 29:27Speaker 2: right now of like them making another tomb Raider and
- 29:30Speaker 2: other people are in line of it, and somebody, I
- 29:34Speaker 2: don't know if it was Daniel Rpka or somebody else,
- 29:39Speaker 2: but I saw somebody say Daisy should have that role
- 29:44Speaker 2: as tomb Raider Laura Croft, and I was like, that's
- 29:46Speaker 2: that would be amazing, Like I think she would really
- 29:51Speaker 2: hit it off in more if she was headlining action
- 29:56Speaker 2: films like The Star Wars and like tomb Rais and
- 30:00Speaker 2: stuff like that. But like, why not just have a
- 30:07Speaker 2: ray movie? You know? And again I'm not going to
- 30:11Speaker 2: say because I totally want their you know, the whole
- 30:16Speaker 2: idea of two people of color are also going to
- 30:20Speaker 2: be leads in this film. I don't want to cut
- 30:22Speaker 2: them out, like I don't want to cut them out
- 30:24Speaker 2: of this deal of like possibly having the torch past.
- 30:29Speaker 2: But if this is the route that they're going, I
- 30:34Speaker 2: would be if I was Daisy's agent, I'd be saying, hey,
- 30:43Speaker 2: Ray Skywalker, Disney Plus series in between nine and this
- 30:50Speaker 2: new film, just to see how she got there, you know,
- 30:57Speaker 2: give her the limelight.
- 30:58Speaker 6: All right, y'all, we're going to our first ad break
- 31:01Speaker 6: and we will be right back in three two one.
- 31:05Speaker 1: I think the best bet for that, honestly, is to
- 31:08Speaker 1: go animated, because that gives you a lot of opportunities
- 31:12Speaker 1: to bring other people in. Because Daisy, as much as
- 31:15Speaker 1: she wants to be with Star Wars right now, she's
- 31:17Speaker 1: also doing a lot of a twenty four type films
- 31:22Speaker 1: that Magnpie.
- 31:24Speaker 2: She recently had something hit Disney Plus or was it Hulu?
- 31:29Speaker 1: It was I think it was The Woman Who Who
- 31:31Speaker 1: Swam Across the Sea, the story of the first woman
- 31:33Speaker 1: who swam the English.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:38Speaker 1: So, and I've heard very good things about that. I've
- 31:40Speaker 1: heard very good things about Magpie. So she's doing a
- 31:44Speaker 1: lot of good work there, and I know she's already
- 31:46Speaker 1: got like two other films that she's supposed to be
- 31:49Speaker 1: filming next year. So I think if you go animated series,
- 31:55Speaker 1: you could still bring Daisy in potentially to Lace. But
- 32:00Speaker 1: I cause I think this is going to be a
- 32:04Speaker 1: like true, hey, let's set up the Jedi Order kind
- 32:09Speaker 1: of thing or the New Jedi Order. So you need
- 32:14Speaker 1: an animated series means that they're you don't need as
- 32:19Speaker 1: many high risk things to catch people's attention.
- 32:25Speaker 2: Mm hm.
- 32:27Speaker 1: So I think movie kind of you're leaning towards like
- 32:32Speaker 1: we're gonna talk about this, but like Palpatine feels like
- 32:35Speaker 1: there's a darkness in the Unknown Regions, so you don't
- 32:39Speaker 1: even have to bring the Sith back for that. You
- 32:40Speaker 1: can bring back to use on Vong like out of
- 32:44Speaker 1: Legends or something like like talk about Paridia like what
- 32:49Speaker 1: comes out of another galaxy like so which I think
- 32:53Speaker 1: Ahsoka is going to tackle that, but like that's just
- 32:55Speaker 1: another example.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Well like and also I've been thinking, like I don't
- 33:00Speaker 2: like when other franchises do this because it feels like, oh, well,
- 33:03Speaker 2: there was so much timeline between this project and this
- 33:07Speaker 2: project and that didn't happen, but we know it's because
- 33:10Speaker 2: these are the most relevant things right now. Like I
- 33:14Speaker 2: was even thinking, like, are they going to bring the
- 33:17Speaker 2: Nameless into like or the dread Gear into this ray story? Right?
- 33:28Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 33:29Speaker 2: Yeah, And like in our minds we're like, oh, yeah,
- 33:33Speaker 2: that's so cool because it's high Republican is something that
- 33:35Speaker 2: we really enjoy. But it is something that I'm like, oh, well,
- 33:40Speaker 2: why didn't Luke deal with any of this stuff? Or
- 33:43Speaker 2: why didn't you know anybody from you know, the the
- 33:50Speaker 2: prequel trilogy, And we're learning more about that, you know,
- 33:53Speaker 2: with each going step and how that is resolving. So
- 33:57Speaker 2: the more closer we get to the end of that,
- 34:00Speaker 2: and plus the prequel trilogy, it makes sense why it's
- 34:04Speaker 2: very dormant and not.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Yeah, because it was like it was spread out anyways.
- 34:08Speaker 1: So you have like one hundred fifty years before Phase one,
- 34:12Speaker 1: then you have one hundred and fifty years, and so
- 34:14Speaker 1: like it kind of makes sense if you're spreading it out,
- 34:17Speaker 1: like I mean, as everything says, if you don't learn
- 34:21Speaker 1: from history, you're always doomed to repeat it. And so
- 34:23Speaker 1: with the Jedi Order being wiped out and there's no
- 34:26Speaker 1: data on the Nameless anymore, not that we know they're
- 34:30Speaker 1: going to keep data on the Nameless. Yeah, but and
- 34:34Speaker 1: with the idea of, okay, maybe we're going to explore
- 34:37Speaker 1: the unknown regions, so.
- 34:43Speaker 2: I would enjoy it.
- 34:45Speaker 1: But speaking of SQL trilogy things happening, we have another
- 34:52Speaker 1: Darth Vader comic coming.
- 34:54Speaker 2: I mean yeah, excuse me, yeah, no, like it's I
- 34:59Speaker 2: love that. I love the art, by the way, Like, yeah,
- 35:03Speaker 2: I think this the cover for the announcement, in my mind,
- 35:11Speaker 2: is probably the best Kylo Wrenn has been drawn. Yeah,
- 35:16Speaker 2: since his appearance in Force Awakens. Like, I've seen him
- 35:24Speaker 2: drawn in coloring books, I've seen him in the adaptation
- 35:29Speaker 2: comics for all all the other sequel trilogy books. This
- 35:37Speaker 2: is by far the best looking Kylo Wrinn And it
- 35:42Speaker 2: looks so ominous, and it's just like, oh, I want it,
- 35:45Speaker 2: I want it, And you're not wrong. It is a
- 35:49Speaker 2: Vader comic. It is titled The Legacy of Vader.
- 35:54Speaker 1: I just somebody tweeted about it. Oh, I think it
- 35:58Speaker 1: was Jordan's with CINALNX. He tweeted. He was like, so
- 36:04Speaker 1: we really can't go like a main run era without
- 36:11Speaker 1: having Darth Vader in a title like we just can't.
- 36:14Speaker 2: No, it's it's the Batman effect. If you if you
- 36:17Speaker 2: look at.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Anything in DC.
- 36:21Speaker 2: When they want something to sell, they put Batman on
- 36:27Speaker 2: the cover, and not just the character. They will put
- 36:32Speaker 2: his name on the cover. Even if it's an Action
- 36:36Speaker 2: comics book or a Green Lantern book or a Blue
- 36:39Speaker 2: Beetle book or a Supergirl book. If there is a
- 36:43Speaker 2: Batman character that is going to be featured, they make
- 36:48Speaker 2: his name, his or her name in big prints on
- 36:53Speaker 2: the cover. It's the Batman effect. It sells. And we
- 36:58Speaker 2: know that there has never been in a Bad Vader run.
- 37:03Speaker 2: M I genuinely believe Darth Vader for Marvel is their
- 37:11Speaker 2: Batman book. So if you're going to sell books in
- 37:15Speaker 2: the Star Wars like print imprint of Marvel Comics, you
- 37:21Speaker 2: put Darth Vader's name on it. Boom.
- 37:23Speaker 1: So when they go to do when they go to
- 37:27Speaker 1: tackle Anakin in the prequels, because we know at some point,
- 37:32Speaker 1: or I say, we know that there's gonna be some
- 37:35Speaker 1: point where they do a main run of Obi Wan
- 37:40Speaker 1: training Anakin and like their adventures over the ten year
- 37:43Speaker 1: span between Phantom Menace and Attack the Clones, is it
- 37:48Speaker 1: going to be the Rise of Darth Vader.
- 37:53Speaker 2: I think because again, like they've had obi Wan runs,
- 37:58Speaker 2: but I don't know how well they sold. So I
- 38:01Speaker 2: could see it being it's the main title obi Wan
- 38:07Speaker 2: and then the subtitle Rise of Vader. Yeah, I could.
- 38:13Speaker 2: I could definitely see that being an actual title at Marvel.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Yeah. So this comic, uh, the Legacy of Darth Vader,
- 38:24Speaker 1: like Charles Soul said at New York Comic Cow, which
- 38:26Speaker 1: we talked about last week, because we theorize on this
- 38:29Speaker 1: and you said Darth Vader. I was like, you can't
- 38:32Speaker 1: go forward with Darth Vader. I mean, like he's dead.
- 38:38Speaker 1: So this is a look back as some characters that
- 38:41Speaker 1: Charles Soul has done, and a look forward at some
- 38:45Speaker 1: characters that Charles Soul has done because Kylo rid Yeah,
- 38:50Speaker 1: you know, I'm excited about this because I trust Soul
- 38:54Speaker 1: with all my heart, and so this is going to
- 38:58Speaker 1: tackle Kylo Wrinn learning more about Darth Vader and his
- 39:03Speaker 1: rise and fall as a Sith Lord. He's going to
- 39:07Speaker 1: be going to Mustafart and presumably I would imagine we're
- 39:11Speaker 1: going to figure out how he gets to know about
- 39:16Speaker 1: Exagal and the Holocron map thing that's on Mustafar because
- 39:23Speaker 1: that's where he's at at the beginning of Rise of Skywalker.
- 39:25Speaker 2: So that's gonna be so fun in all honesty, when
- 39:29Speaker 2: you're looking at the idea of him going into the
- 39:37Speaker 2: idea of like, okay, I am I'm doing this, like
- 39:40Speaker 2: if if I'm gonna go and do this, I have
- 39:43Speaker 2: to go you know, all the way and being manipulated
- 39:48Speaker 2: by Sidious and like all of this stuff, like it's
- 39:52Speaker 2: gonna be so demented and oh, it's gonna be so good.
- 39:56Speaker 2: I can't wait until he goes to most so far
- 40:01Speaker 2: and he has one of those like weird Sith visions
- 40:06Speaker 2: that Darth Vader had.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Moments mass from Soul's run.
- 40:19Speaker 2: I could see it put like having a small little
- 40:21Speaker 2: cameo in there, like you know, just just having it there.
- 40:26Speaker 2: But I could definitely see Soul like mirroring that moment
- 40:31Speaker 2: with uh with that Sith vision and telling the history
- 40:37Speaker 2: of of Anakin. I can see that kind of mirroring
- 40:41Speaker 2: with Kylo and and like kind of manipulating him to
- 40:45Speaker 2: be like, oh, You're destined for all this greatness and
- 40:48Speaker 2: you know, uh, So I think that'll be really really
- 40:51Speaker 2: fun and we.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Will have to talk tackle Soul's Darth Vader run and
- 40:58Speaker 1: the rise of Kyle Rin next year to kind of
- 41:02Speaker 1: lead up to that. So make sure let us know
- 41:06Speaker 1: when you guys want us to put that into the scheduling.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Because this comic, the first issue will be out in February,
- 41:15Speaker 1: so that's that's important to mention.
- 41:21Speaker 2: As far as other news, one thing that we did
- 41:25Speaker 2: skip when it came to like movie stuff. We see
- 41:30Speaker 2: that Mandalorian and gro Goop has wrapped filming and is
- 41:36Speaker 2: still on track to release on May twenty second, twenty
- 41:42Speaker 2: twenty six, and it's and they say still on track
- 41:46Speaker 2: because it was around that same time we got a
- 41:52Speaker 2: massive hit of like what all is releasing in that
- 41:57Speaker 2: same bubble, We're still seeing Avengers. We're still seeing Avengers
- 42:03Speaker 2: and is it? Well no, no, no, what else is? Supergirl
- 42:09Speaker 2: is there as well? And there is one other one
- 42:13Speaker 2: that is I can't remember what other ip it was,
- 42:17Speaker 2: but there is a It is going to be a
- 42:19Speaker 2: very congested summer. So I am going to say it
- 42:27Speaker 2: move move to your normal December Star Wars month. That's
- 42:34Speaker 2: what I say.
- 42:35Speaker 1: I think the issue though with December twenty twenty six
- 42:40Speaker 1: is Avatar three, really is it Avatar? When does the
- 42:48Speaker 1: Avatar three supposed to cup? And that might have been
- 42:50Speaker 1: twenty twenty seven.
- 42:53Speaker 2: I know at one point, which I again I am
- 42:57Speaker 2: forever going to be remind did that. I owe Travis
- 43:02Speaker 2: a pizza after making that stupid bet that Sonic three
- 43:07Speaker 2: was gonna make more money than Avatar three, and then
- 43:10Speaker 2: Avatar two made a billion freaking dollars. Just bet.
- 43:19Speaker 1: So it's actually because I remember this now. We talked
- 43:22Speaker 1: about Mando and Grogu moving up to December twenty twenty five,
- 43:28Speaker 1: but Avatar three is December twenty twenty five.
- 43:32Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, okay, so yeah, so December twenty six is available. Yeah,
- 43:41Speaker 2: I think, like I uh, because correct me if I'm wrong.
- 43:45Speaker 2: The original schedule had the two Star Wars films in
- 43:52Speaker 2: twenty twenty six, and you know, I I'm not gonna
- 43:57Speaker 2: say that, like, oh, you know, clearly Man golds And
- 44:02Speaker 2: and Race Skywalker movie is gonna not make that who knows,
- 44:09Speaker 2: But there's an open slot right there. Just move it.
- 44:11Speaker 2: Be safer about it, you know. I even if this
- 44:17Speaker 2: is going to be a recap, which I still hope
- 44:20Speaker 2: it's not, you still want it to be successful because I.
- 44:24Speaker 1: Don't think it's gonna be Yes, you wouldn't be sucessful.
- 44:26Speaker 1: I don't think it's gonna be re recap anymore.
- 44:31Speaker 2: But even the Mandalorin technically, when you look at the schedule,
- 44:37Speaker 2: Mandalorian Grogu is the first Star Wars film back in theaters.
- 44:43Speaker 2: It needs a large pop, so like, don't squander and
- 44:49Speaker 2: and and just let it die in the midst of
- 44:52Speaker 2: all these other hit blockbusters that you know are coming out.
- 44:56Speaker 1: Yeah, by the way, because I'm seeing that on my
- 45:00Speaker 1: Twitter feed. We forgot about this too. Midlorian season three
- 45:04Speaker 1: and Ahsoka season one will be out on four K
- 45:06Speaker 1: steel book December three.
- 45:09Speaker 2: Yes, those steel books look so clean, by the way,
- 45:13Speaker 2: they look great.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Yes they do. I'm going to be waiting for them
- 45:17Speaker 1: to go on sale because I do want to make
- 45:19Speaker 1: sure that I get these because I like having the
- 45:24Speaker 1: hard copies of things. But I'm waiting for them to
- 45:28Speaker 1: go so. I don't need a steal book, that's the thing.
- 45:32Speaker 1: I just need a regular Blu ray or like whatever,
- 45:36Speaker 1: four K Like, I don't need a steal book. I'm
- 45:39Speaker 1: fine without a steal book. Just give me the physical
- 45:42Speaker 1: piece please, Hey.
- 45:43Speaker 2: I mean we're lucky that we're getting these to begin with,
- 45:47Speaker 2: considering those streaming shows, and you know, it's very unpopular
- 45:54Speaker 2: for some reason to not put streaming shows on physical media.
- 45:58Speaker 2: It's weird. But uh, is that everything? As far as
- 46:04Speaker 2: that is everything, all right, well, if that is everything,
- 46:08Speaker 2: we're going to go ahead and jump into this aftermath
- 46:15Speaker 2: Empire's End review. Kay I told you at the beginning, well,
- 46:23Speaker 2: even before we started recording, I made a boo boo
- 46:28Speaker 2: and didn't finish the book, but I read the last
- 46:34Speaker 2: part of the Wikipedia. I was able to catch up
- 46:37Speaker 2: where I was as far as the audio book, and
- 46:40Speaker 2: I read the rest. Of course, the dramatic effect of
- 46:45Speaker 2: the audio version is not there, but.
- 46:49Speaker 1: We'll finish it later. So he's going to finish it.
- 46:53Speaker 2: It's thirty minutes. I'm probably gonna finish it like before
- 46:56Speaker 2: I even start editing, Like you know, that's probably what
- 47:00Speaker 2: I'll do tonight. But geddy you said, because you're hilarious.
- 47:08Speaker 2: I nearly spit out my drink at your posts the
- 47:13Speaker 2: other day because I just yeah, I just see this
- 47:21Speaker 2: this notification on my phone. I'm like, what's going on here?
- 47:24Speaker 2: And Katie's like, oh, you want to know how bad.
- 47:31Speaker 2: We think this trilogy is so bad that we forgot
- 47:36Speaker 2: we were reviewing it, and uh, I mean she's not wrong,
- 47:41Speaker 2: because we had a small text exchange that was, hey,
- 47:48Speaker 2: don't forget we have to do this. Crap. I forgot
- 47:52Speaker 2: we had to do this. Okay, well just reminding you,
- 47:56Speaker 2: this is how much I forgot. And we're showing each
- 47:59Speaker 2: other downloading the episode or downloading the audiobook onto our phones.
- 48:04Speaker 2: Katie already had hers automatically downloaded. Uh. It was. It
- 48:10Speaker 2: was a whole thing. And then I'm like okay, and.
- 48:12Speaker 1: Like typically I'm very excited, like I know, I've got
- 48:15Speaker 1: mom brain and so like part of that was the mom.
- 48:18Speaker 1: Part of this was the mom brain. Part of this
- 48:21Speaker 1: was the man, I really don't want to finish this.
- 48:24Speaker 7: Yeah, it's because we've we've talked about these characters seemed
- 48:31Speaker 7: interesting in writing as far as like if you take
- 48:36Speaker 7: the character Bio and you see this character, you're like, oh,
- 48:40Speaker 7: that character could probably be pretty interesting in a Star
- 48:44Speaker 7: Wars story, And then they put them in a Star
- 48:47Speaker 7: Wars story and.
- 48:49Speaker 2: It wasn't interesting that Like it it's just kind of
- 48:54Speaker 2: it's like, uh, why, Like yeah, why do this? Yes,
- 49:02Speaker 2: I will say, I still enjoy Oh shoot, I always
- 49:09Speaker 2: forget his name Mark Thompson. No, no, no, uh uh, the
- 49:14Speaker 2: actual sin Jiar. Surprisingly, I still really like that character.
- 49:21Speaker 1: I love Seer.
- 49:23Speaker 2: He grew a lot from the from the very first
- 49:27Speaker 2: page that he was, you know, introduced to the Last Guys.
- 49:32Speaker 2: Small spoiler alert. There's a moment where he is shot
- 49:37Speaker 2: in the head, and like, I was like, oh my god, yeah,
- 49:43Speaker 2: I cheered up.
- 49:43Speaker 1: I was like I knew he made it through, but
- 49:46Speaker 1: it was still the idea of like, wait, was he
- 49:48Speaker 1: about to die?
- 49:49Speaker 2: So here's here's the thing, Katie, my ADHD brain and
- 49:53Speaker 2: having to listen to everything at times to speed just
- 49:58Speaker 2: to keep up with my brain. I hear it at
- 50:03Speaker 2: a normal pace, but I know I can also still
- 50:06Speaker 2: hear it sped up. So it was like and I'm like, wait,
- 50:11Speaker 2: hold on. I pressed the thirty second, rewind twice, and
- 50:16Speaker 2: listened to it again, and I was like, Okay, I
- 50:18Speaker 2: wasn't imagining things. He got shot in the head, What's
- 50:22Speaker 2: going on? And then like he was still running around
- 50:26Speaker 2: and throwing fruit and stuff. And then it finally explained
- 50:29Speaker 2: how it like like freaking, uh, what's the phrasing? I'm
- 50:34Speaker 2: looking for the blaster like seared itself, like basically yeah,
- 50:40Speaker 2: and he was able to survive. But still like I'll
- 50:45Speaker 2: give I'll give a I even forgot the writer of this, Chuck. Yeah,
- 50:52Speaker 2: I'll give Chuck credit for that. Like he got me
- 50:56Speaker 2: attached to a character, one singular character. I'll say that enough,
- 51:00Speaker 2: be like, holy crap, like I care if this person
- 51:02Speaker 2: lives or dies by the end of his book. So yeah,
- 51:08Speaker 2: for me.
- 51:09Speaker 1: This one was a lot better than the other two.
- 51:13Speaker 1: That's not saying much because I still couldn't get attached
- 51:17Speaker 1: to Nora. Norah pissed me off so much. Nora, I
- 51:22Speaker 1: feel like I don't feel like that's the intent of
- 51:25Speaker 1: her character either is to piss you off.
- 51:27Speaker 2: But no, no, it's not to piss you off. But there
- 51:31Speaker 2: is also like there's not a whole lot there to
- 51:36Speaker 2: get me to be like really invested in her, though
- 51:42Speaker 2: you know, it felt very stereotypical as far as the
- 51:47Speaker 2: love story goes with her husband and the uh, the constant, like, oh, well,
- 51:55Speaker 2: I can't tell my son what I'm doing because then
- 51:58Speaker 2: the Empire will know what I doing.
- 52:01Speaker 1: And like, I almost if we had been reviewing this
- 52:06Speaker 1: or for the show when she takes off in the
- 52:09Speaker 1: escape pod without telling anybody what she's doing, and she's like,
- 52:15Speaker 1: fly the ship, Timman, like fly it into a bunch
- 52:19Speaker 1: of blockade, like an imperial blockade of the planet, and
- 52:25Speaker 1: let like you take over. I'm gonna go get an
- 52:29Speaker 1: escape pod. Now, if we had not been reviewing this,
- 52:32Speaker 1: I would have dnf't it right there, because that's not
- 52:35Speaker 1: something like a mom would do for their kid. The
- 52:40Speaker 1: mom goes, no, I'm the best pilot on this ship.
- 52:46Speaker 1: I need to get us out of here.
- 52:47Speaker 2: Yeah, especially when there was moments in both other books
- 52:52Speaker 2: where like she did take the rings and was like Okay,
- 52:57Speaker 2: I'm gonna get us out of here, or hey, I
- 52:59Speaker 2: need to do this and showed her skill, and she does.
- 53:05Speaker 1: She does like she thinks of her son first. Later
- 53:09Speaker 1: because she takes off with Bones and Bones is like, oh,
- 53:12Speaker 1: Master Timman is nearby, can I go help him? And
- 53:16Speaker 1: Norah's like, well, if he leaves, I'm in danger. But
- 53:19Speaker 1: Timman's my priority, So like, why wasn't that her priority earlier? Yeah,
- 53:26Speaker 1: and you can't tell me that. It's like, oh, well,
- 53:29Speaker 1: she's that obsessed with Sloane, but like, but.
- 53:32Speaker 2: That's exactly I was literally about to bring it up.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Uh.
- 53:35Speaker 2: There is this thing in D and D where you
- 53:42Speaker 2: can write a character's weakness, the one like crux in
- 53:48Speaker 2: your character. And Sloan was that for for her the
- 53:57Speaker 2: entire book. Like she was on this like revenge tour
- 54:01Speaker 2: and was like, I'm gonna kill her. I'm gonna kill her.
- 54:04Speaker 2: She did this to my husband. Yeah, and she's ruined
- 54:06Speaker 2: our lives and da da da dah. And I'm just like,
- 54:12Speaker 2: there's because there was a point where her and who
- 54:17Speaker 2: rescued her, uh, Jazz Jazz. Yes, her and Jazz were like, Okay,
- 54:24Speaker 2: I saved you. We're good to go. But also Sloan's
- 54:29Speaker 2: here like I I almost went up to it, just
- 54:32Speaker 2: punched Jazz in the freaking face, like why did you
- 54:34Speaker 2: say anything? Like just get out of there, you know,
- 54:38Speaker 2: And then she was just like, well, I hate Sloan.
- 54:43Speaker 2: I'm we have to we have to finish this. I'm like,
- 54:46Speaker 2: not right now, you don't like like you were like
- 54:50Speaker 2: they're tortured in and like you could have just gotten out,
- 54:54Speaker 2: like yeah, plan ahead, get your head on straight. Nope,
- 54:58Speaker 2: couldn't be.
- 55:00Speaker 1: And I don't I don't know if this is because
- 55:02Speaker 1: newro Star Wars books haven't really talked about this, but
- 55:06Speaker 1: the passage of time I think is like the biggest
- 55:12Speaker 1: issue with these books. Like we're talking like a full
- 55:17Speaker 1: like they talked are like months have passed since Liberation
- 55:22Speaker 1: Day like okay, but then like we speed through these
- 55:28Speaker 1: little things and like I get like we've talked about
- 55:31Speaker 1: it before, like okay, Like this doesn't make that much
- 55:34Speaker 1: sense that Vernestra and Wreath were like doing this, so
- 55:39Speaker 1: like some passage of time happened. But I feel like
- 55:44Speaker 1: the explicitness of oh yeah, months have passed, oh weeks
- 55:48Speaker 1: have passed, okay, but.
- 55:51Speaker 2: Like you lose track, Yeah it doesn't. It feels like
- 55:57Speaker 2: the passage of time is shown just to tell you, hey,
- 56:02Speaker 2: time has passed, instead of it being significance to the story.
- 56:07Speaker 1: Yeah. It's like, hey, we know Legends didn't really tell
- 56:11Speaker 1: you about the passage of time, so we're gonna tell you, yea,
- 56:15Speaker 1: the time is passing. Like that's what it feels like. Almost.
- 56:22Speaker 1: I really thought the writing was a lot better in
- 56:26Speaker 1: this book, but I also think it's because they were done,
- 56:29Speaker 1: Like Wyndeg was done building the story, yeah, and so
- 56:33Speaker 1: he could finish it. I don't think he did well
- 56:38Speaker 1: at building stories. He did much better at finishing them.
- 56:43Speaker 2: I could agree with that. I could agree with that.
- 56:46Speaker 1: Yeah, so I and I know that he got Lego
- 56:50Speaker 1: from writing for LUCASLM. But I would be curious to
- 56:54Speaker 1: see him handle like a singular book and see how
- 56:58Speaker 1: he wrote in that regard versus a trilogy.
- 57:02Speaker 7: Well.
- 57:03Speaker 2: Again, Also, I would really be interested because Chuck wen
- 57:07Speaker 2: digg uh has I've read comics from Chuck and so yeah,
- 57:13Speaker 2: I think that he's done some excellent work in comics,
- 57:19Speaker 2: but those characters are pre established, they are well known characters.
- 57:24Speaker 2: I would almost say, hey, give him a book that
- 57:29Speaker 2: is with a already established character, yeah, and have him
- 57:35Speaker 2: deal with that and see how that goes, you know.
- 57:39Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, I would be curious. I don't think it's
- 57:42Speaker 1: ever going to happen because I think, especially after he
- 57:45Speaker 1: got Lego from what he said, I don't think he'd
- 57:47Speaker 1: ever want to come back.
- 57:49Speaker 2: So that's true.
- 57:50Speaker 1: Yeah, let's see. Yeah, Nora, I don't feel like she
- 57:59Speaker 1: grews character all, maybe snapped it a little bit because
- 58:04Speaker 1: he handled his dad passing rather decently, I feel like,
- 58:10Speaker 1: and the same thing with Bones. I was really sad
- 58:12Speaker 1: about Bones. I did not know. That was probably one
- 58:15Speaker 1: thing I didn't know about this book was that Bones
- 58:19Speaker 1: gets disintegrated.
- 58:21Speaker 2: Yeah, and I was.
- 58:23Speaker 1: Not happy about that. I wanted to see mister Bones
- 58:25Speaker 1: continue to live.
- 58:28Speaker 2: And I think it's with this. I think it's a
- 58:33Speaker 2: story of like, hey, you can have like somewhat of
- 58:36Speaker 2: a happy ending, but you're in the midst of war,
- 58:40Speaker 2: so there is casualties to that, and so like, do
- 58:45Speaker 2: you really want to kill off your humanoid characters or
- 58:51Speaker 2: you can just as easily kill off a side droid
- 58:56Speaker 2: character that you know people have been attached to, you know.
- 59:00Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think that makes sense. But like when
- 59:05Speaker 1: you know, like because mister Bones is one of the
- 59:08Speaker 1: characters that was at like is a character pa was it? Words?
- 59:14Speaker 1: He was in one of the DLC packs for like
- 59:19Speaker 1: a Scott Walker sec. Yeah, so the character is well
- 59:24Speaker 1: known and he's loved, so I think he I think
- 59:31Speaker 1: it was a really cool edition.
- 59:35Speaker 2: Yeah. I I really liked mister Bones. I think that
- 59:40Speaker 2: he I liked him more than I thought I would. Again,
- 59:45Speaker 2: when he is first introduced in that first book, he
- 59:50Speaker 2: is absolutely psychotic, and of course.
- 59:54Speaker 1: I got to do violent.
- 59:57Speaker 2: Yeah, but like over time. I'm of course, you can't
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: just always keep that up, and I feel like Chuck
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: had that in mind. He's just like, okay, like I
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: can only do so much with this character if he
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: stays that way, so kind of let him kind of
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: evolve in his own way. He still has his moments
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: and I and I think he is what all droids
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: tend to be when it comes to these stories, loyal
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: to their people, and he showed that loyalty throughout the
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: entire trilogy. So yeah, mister Bones will be missed. I
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: actually would like to see if did they ever release
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: a actual lego set with Mister Bones?
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: Wow?
- 1:00:50Speaker 6: Did they Maybe we're gonna go into our second ad
- 1:00:55Speaker 6: break and we'll be right.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: Back, because I think that would be actually pretty dope
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: to kind of just have at my desk. Is a
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: Mister Bones lego piece?
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: It doesn't look like it.
- 1:01:12Speaker 5: Let's see, here's the Wikipedia behind the scenes.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: Hey I kicked there.
- 1:01:26Speaker 5: You go.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: Oh it looks like people have done their own like
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: custom mister Bones blacks. Yeah, that would that would sell.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: I think if if a lot of people wouldn't get
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: the context of it, but I think that it would
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: still have like some significant sales. It looks cool. I
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: think that would be fun. But going back to the book,
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: how did you feel about considering how the other the
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: last novel, which was Life Debt. What'd you think of
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: the Han solo Leia story that was kind of mixed
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: in with this?
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: So I thought it was kind of cool getting her
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: last little bit of pregnancy in this. And now yeah,
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: now I find all the jokes weird a little bit.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: When the Princess and the Scoundrel got announced and it
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: was announced that Han and Leah had their honeymoon on
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: the Galactic Star Cruiser, like that was like a shameless
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: plug for that hotel, and people were like, well, now
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: we know where Ben was conceived. No, Ben was conceived
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: in and like the Night the Rebellion Blew of the
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: Test Star pretty much yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: Well go ahead, go ahead.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: I still feel a little weird with Hot and Leya
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: in this, Like I feel like they just didn't know
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: where it was gonna go. I know this came out
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: this book in particular, came out after the Force Awakens,
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: but it also feels just like, Okay, we need there
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: to be some awkwardness with Han and Leya because they
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: don't make it basically m Yeah, so I didn't really
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: like that, Like, I feel like, you just got married. Yes,
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: things have been a little chaotic, but you should still
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: like each other because I feel like, especially the moments
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: where he talked where Wyndig talks about Han missing Chewie,
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: like I know he missus chewy but it just felt
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: like that was a little more prevalent to me than.
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, it was one of the things that I
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: picked up on very like much. So I was like,
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: it feels weird that this lingers. But the Han and
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: Leya stuff, it's just like it's nothing's really sticking for
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: me there.
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: But another side of this story, uh is the politics side.
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: Of course, with mon Mathma, there was a very slimy
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: mon Mothma in this book. Uh, and more so for
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: the greater good, you know, is the whole idea because
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: there's a there's a moment where she's you know, talking
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: like giving an announcement or whatever. I forgot exactly in
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: what contexts, But she's like, I know I shouldn't say this.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: I know I shouldn't say this. I know I shouldn't
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: say this, And she's like, you either do this or
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: you're you're a what was the phrasing, uh.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: You're just as I think it was like something along
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: lines like you're just as bad as the rebellion basically
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: the empire with the empire basically, And she even says like, I.
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: Feel like a dictator. I feel like Palpatine right now,
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: Like this feels gross. I can't believe I'm saying this,
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: But we are so desperate in this time. I kind
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: of like that because it shows more that, like in
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: the midst of word, you are desperate, and I'm very curious,
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: you know. It's it's it's very ironic that we read
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: this book in lights of you know, the books that
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: are about come out uh next year?
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: Uh yeah?
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: Will we see this type of man mathma there?
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: I I think we could maybe not as much of
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: like the machinations that like the public machinations. I guess
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: I can definitely see her doing the back end dealings.
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: You know, I didn't even think of this. Are we
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: going to get Mamma's husband and daughter?
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: Oh that's true. Yeah, that would be interesting.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: Because it's just it's just kind of curious thinking about it.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: But I can definitely see like the on her own
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: frustrations and like back room dealings, but nothing like this public. Yeah,
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: what did you think about like some of like not
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: really the space battles with space battles because I don't
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: really feel like there's a lot of space battles.
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: In this there wasn't.
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: I feel like the ship descriptions and like the space
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: scenes were described.
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I enjoy especially since I haven't really gotten
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: like really necked deep into like the Alphabet Squadron and
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: all of those books. I think this is a small
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: taste of that and just kind of being like, hey,
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: you know, if you want more of this, there's all
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: these books out there in the Star Wars universe, so
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: I really dig those. I always like like even in Legend,
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: you know, uh, I still have the Yeah, Jedi Academy
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: had some really fun uh space battle stuff. I Jedi
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: especially did, like I really like. And and that's more
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: so just because the main character is like a part
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: of oh shoot, what squadron? Was he a part of
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: Rogue Squadron? Yeah, he was a part of Rogue Squadron.
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: Uh so yeah it was. It was just like so
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: so fun there and so here, Like I said, it
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: gives you a small taste. I don't by no means
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: do I think, like, hey, if you want to see
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: some space battles, you better go run and get after Math,
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: you know, Like I'm I'm not gonna tell everybody that,
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: but it's just like, hey, if if you want a
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: good battle scene in space, after Math has it? You know? Yeah,
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: for sure, I'm trying to think of anything else. Uh,
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: we do get Palpatine in here for a small tidbit
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: kind of alluding to the future. Nothing too hardcore there,
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: what about I was gonna ask you about this, Okay.
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: So.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: I unfortunately again adhd brain here. Yes, I will listen
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: to a book and I'll get in the zone and
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: then all of a sudden you hear jarjar out of nowhere,
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: and I'm like, hold on, wait a second, back up, rewind, replay.
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: This is way past the original Trillo. Gee, why am
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: I hearing jarge r here? It stopped to be dead
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: in my tracks. I was walking through the warehouse at
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: work and I just stopped in the middle of one
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: of the hallways of the warehouse and I was like, whoa,
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: what what what's going on here?
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: The interludes. I've not been a huge fan of it,
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: feels just like.
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: And maybe feels like a hard stop.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: Yeah it, but it also feels like okay, especially like
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: the cop vance stuff and like the what it's like
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: the Sith people, it just feels like, Okay, we could
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: branch off and but like here's a snippet into this
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: character that like, if we really like this, then we
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: could potentially do another book on them in the future,
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: which the the Sith One and is expanded on in
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: Shadows of the Sith. Uh. They're pulled from the interludes here. Uh,
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: but the Charger Binks one in particular is just something
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: that I appreciated because like Wyndck basically interprets jar Jar
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: to be how he was supposed to be interpreted, which
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: was for kids in the prequel trilogy, and designing him
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: as that clown element, Like obviously, like I don't like
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: the feeling knowing what Jorgar meant to me that he
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: ends up as a clown, but tying in like the Okay,
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: jar Jar was like banished because he's the one who
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: gave Palpatine. He was the one who called the vote
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: for Palpatine to get extra powers and ades, and so
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: punishing for that, Like even though that really wasn't his fault,
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: like that makes sense, but like him bonding with the
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: kid and like just being like, you know, like I'll
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: be whatever I want to be, Like my whole goal
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: is to entertain right now. And then Mapo going, well,
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: will you teach me how to be a clown because
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: he's got like the damaged face and everything like and
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: he's like, so maybe I can hide behind that mask,
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: and like they just get to go off together. And
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: that's always what Jartar was meant to be, was like
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: for the kids and like taking care of that age
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: group and Star Wars. So I really I really felt
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: like that was just like a that was a good
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: moment that I appreciated.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: I appreciated it as well. Again, like I said, uh,
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: it definitely caught my attention for anybody who is an
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: audio listening, uh for the book. And I think that
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: like when you really think about it, though, you look
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: at the life of jar Jar, you know, basically about
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: to get punished by his people in episode one, not
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: knowing what his fate probably could have been, Qui gon
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: Jin saving his life, him getting able to be a
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: part of Correscance politics and make a difference in the
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: galaxy for as little as he could, and then having
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: it all crumble because of the unfortunate manipulation of of
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: course the Sith Lord, and then him like having to
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: be a clown. Like it's a sad story, but in
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: the end there's still like a weird happy ending for him.
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: So yeah, so just to confirm he's a is the
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: main villain of Shadow of the say, so she makes
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: an appearance here and I actually forgot she was in
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: life deab.
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: So yeah, oh that's right.
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, So the interludes are just weird, but they
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: do feel like an opening for other stories, so good thing,
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: bad thing.
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: Yeah, for me, the interludes, like again I said, they
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: do feel like a hard stop because it's and it's
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: more so for me. I've said this numerous times on
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: multiple podcasts. I am not a huge fan of non
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: linear storytelling. It's just I'm not a fan of it
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: for me. If you could, like the worst part of
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: like the worst type of non linear storytelling is showing
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: a scene and then immediately after that scene saying twenty
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: seconds ago and then showing the build up to what
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: you just saw. It's like you could have just put
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: that literally in front of the scene that I just
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: read or watched, you know, so that's why it just
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: it just kind of irks me a little bit. Of course.
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: I know it's a style choice, it's whatever, but it'll
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: always get to me. It's just that one little thing
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: that's always gonna be like, hey, you chose to do this,
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: so I'm gonna have to choose, unfortunately to not like it.
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: But yeah, is there anything else that you want to
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: touch up on here?
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: I think that's about it in regards to this book,
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: I'm happy to put it away and probably never pick
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: it up again.
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: Well. With that in though, I do have to ask
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: this trilogy as a trilogy with where we have I
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: guess have we like have me? And you talked a
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: lot about books that I mean, I guess the only
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: one would be uh oh, is Katie gone? Or am
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: I gone?
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: No?
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: Sorry, there's a little gnat that has been flying around
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: my monitors all day.
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: Sorry, Uh okay, Like if you are not watching the
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: YouTube channel, Katie literally had her hands up and her
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: whole head was going back and forth as if like
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: her screens were about to implode, like there was some
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: sort of like countdown to destruction. Here.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: Sorry, I'm like tracking you back. I'm trying to kill it.
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: But what I was gonna say is, I don't think
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: outside of Shadows of the Sith, I don't know if
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: we've really touched on a lot of books that are
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: kind of in this realm of the timeline.
- 1:17:16Speaker 6: And we're about to jump into our third ad y'all,
- 1:17:20Speaker 6: we promise we'll be right back.
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: We promise. Oh distracted adhes Oh she got it?
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, sorry. So probably Shadow of the Sith
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: is my favorite out of this era. A close second
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: would be Lost Stars by Claudia.
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: Gray, and that's one that you've recommended to me. We
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: haven't had a chance to put it in the schedule
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: for us, which is normally when I'm like, okay, I'm
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: reading this book. But it has been on my radar,
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: of course, because it's also been one of those titles
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: that weirdly enough, and we haven't heard a damn thing
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: about it since. Uh but Lucasfilm announced well I don't
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: even know if it was Lucasfilm directly, people were about
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: of it. Yeah, So we'll see how that works, and
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: I'm I don't know if it could continue as far
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: as development considering the two ends of the spectrum of
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: where we're making movies right now, literally at the end
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: of the timeline and literally at the beginning of the timeline.
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: So does it really make a whole lot of Oh well,
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: that's true. Hey, I think that would actually make a
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: whole lot of sense if we go Mando to end
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: that and move forward with that book adaptation. Well, now, movie.
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: At it, you would be going backwards?
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: Would it be going backwards? This is gonna be the
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: next thing.
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: Okay, So Lost Stars takes place. I think it's like
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: Empire Strikes back to the end of Empire e end.
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: Oh okay, so it's basically like a Romeo Juliette love story, okay,
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: the whole time.
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: So it takes place in this timeframe. Mando is four
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: years after the return of the Jedi.
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: Okay, okay, so uh yeah, never mind, I mean it. Well,
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: the one thing that I will always have a problem with,
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: but Lucasfilms seems to somehow find ways to do it.
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: They're always finding ways to stay within the Skywalker saga, right,
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: so if this is one more thing that they can
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: do to stay within the Star Wars saga, it's probably
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: gonna happen, so who knows. But with that, guys, that
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: is do.
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: You just want to say one more thing before we
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: close out? Jordan who we talked about, Jordan Mason with
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: sin A Links.
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: Yes, he has a charity program called Real Outreach where
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: he sends underprivileged kids, mostly in group homes, to the movies.
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: But he does a holiday fundraiser every year for movie
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: themed gift baskets for kids in hospitals and they've already
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: raised uh it's thirty five dollars per gift basket and
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: they've already raised enough money for forty gift baskets and
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: that's the most that they've ever had out of this
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: fundraiser for the holiday season. So if you guys are
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: open to that, the Twitter account is Real Outreach and
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: it's real like a movie reel. So our E E
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: L Outreach is the user name, and so you can
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: go find that GoFundMe. But it's a really good thing
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: that he does, bringing a little bit of holiday cheer,
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: a little bit of the movies that we love and
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: appreciate so much. If you guys don't mind donating, that
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: would be great. But another good opportunity is Geek Versus
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: Extra Life charity fundraiser for the hospitals in I don't
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: know which part of Canada, but it's Canada that fund
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: Their charity stream is this Saturday for our stream, and uh,
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: I don't care what. I can't say what play is doing,
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: but I'm on team Taylor.
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: So oh yeah, I I you didn't hear anything. Actually,
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: I don't think it's been announced yet.
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: So yeah, it's not been announced yet.
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: I'm quiet not saying anything. UH don't want the geek
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: First snipers to come after me. I didn't say anything.
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: It was Katie anyway, But that is.
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: The trivia is at four pm Eastern Standard time on Saturday,
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: and it's on the key First YouTube channel, which if
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: you're here on YouTube with us, that is where you
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: can find us. So yeah, come back on Saturday.
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it's gonna be always a blast. It's it's always
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: a blast. I will say. The last four years, holy crap,
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: it has been a very quick four years. I have
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: I have gotten the chance to watch a majority of
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: their stream, hang out with them. They like, we are
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: a family, like they have been so great to us.
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: They give they gave us this opportunity, uh to be
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: on their channel with the show, and we're all nerds.
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: We all love each other, we all love these ips,
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: and it's gonna be a lot of fun. So you know,
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: just I'm just gonna say, be on the lookout for
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: what for what I have in store for.
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: U. And I'm just happy it's not during my football game.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: We have broken the streak of like five years during
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: my football game.
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: Because he's always end up coming like either late or
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: did you show up to the first one?
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: I think I had a wedding. The no, I was
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: a part of it the first one, and then the
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: second year I had a wedding.
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: That's right, but it was still during my football game.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: And then the past two years I've hosted Star Wars,
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: and I think I was like, this is so Snell
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: didn't tell me when I was going, and so I'm
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: like sitting around for like forty minutes waiting for Marvel
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: and DC Definision, Like I could be watching by football
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: game right now, but instead I don't.
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: Know what I'm going on. See, this is why you
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: should have some sort of live TV on your phone
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: and you should just be watching it while you're hosting.
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: The problem was and I did have that the first
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: The first year is I had my iPad and then
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: I had my laptop. But then last year everybody was
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: so pissed off with me from my first year question.
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: Oh yeah, because you decided, hey, I'm going to try
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: to make this as difficult as possible, trying to be freaging.
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: Ostar Wars dot Com trivia.
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: I didn't go watch the movies and go let me
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: pull this random backed out of my butt. No, I
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: pulled it off the Star Wars dot Com trubut.
- 1:25:05Speaker 5: I it.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: I gave it to Mat, and Matt got seven out
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: of twenty questions right that year. I was like, okay,
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: seven out of twenty for Mat, like this should be fine.
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: No one person got a question right that year, So
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: I was nervous. I was so nervous. The second year,
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: I was like, wait, you want me back? So I
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: was so nervous, Like I was literally shaken the whole
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: time I was asking questions because I was like, are
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: they going to be bad at me?
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: Are they going to be bad at me?
- 1:25:37Speaker 5: Again?
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: Very very nice? Well, finally with that, I'm over here
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: like getting sleep out of my eyes, like trying to
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: stay awake. You can always find me at fanboy Clay
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: on Twitter, and just like Katie, I think I might
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: have to put my account on private. If you do
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: follow me or attempt to, I will thoroughly investigate your
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: account to make sure you are real not a bot,

- 1:26:18Speaker 2: Marvel Snap content on Twitter because I do not want
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: my images and my content used for AI, so I
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: have stopped doing that unfortunately, but it's still something that

- 1:26:58Speaker 2: a Ranger Alliance, just in a couple of days actually,

- 1:27:09Speaker 2: Jake have something in store for everybody, and I think
