- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Because if you don't have the drive, no amount of coaching, no amount of money ain't gonna cut it.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_01]: One is the drive.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but two, you gotta be able to do something.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, 100%, no question about it.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_01]: If you're gonna be all in, I gotta go all in.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: Nothing happens by business plan.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: How could your business plan predicted COVID?
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: You can't.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: What are we looking for in the business plan that makes it investing?
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: Is it an unmet need?
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: And is that a value that you offer?
- 0:23[SPEAKER_01]: So you produce a movie called Shrap City.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: Shrap City.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: And who was all in that movie?
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, we have your own Atlanta.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: GZ.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: GZ is in there.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: Now it became a number one trending movie on stars.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to another edition of the social proof podcast.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: We find high level entrepreneurs.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: They're doing high level things.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: And I actually use this podcast as a way to get free coaching from people that are way more successful than I am.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_01]: And today, we have, there is no different, man.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_01]: I met this gentleman actually.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_01]: I was surprised.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: Chaza de Fredio, he called me like, eh, I got this guy in town and he's interviewing people.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: They said, y'all, I think you'd be a good person.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: Interview, I said, interview.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, do you want me to interview him or him interview me?
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: He said, no, you want an interview to you.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_01]: And then it turned out to like kind of me interviewing you anyway, because I just am curious about what you got going.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: We had just a great conversation.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I was just so impressed.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, man, we got to bring this to my platform.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: So, I need y'all to welcome a gentleman here about to get so much value from just going to get your notebooks out right now.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_01]: More by the tell, how are you?
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: Excellent, David.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'd like to join here.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, thanks for coming, man.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: In your backyard.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: In the studio, I had to get you here.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: It was such a great conversation because you are a wealth of knowledge.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: And I want to start out by you are a man of many talents.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: How do you typically introduce yourself to a random person?
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a serial entrepreneur and a film producer.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: And then this film producer kind of part of serial entrepreneur, but then, you know, I kind of combine both.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: So I should, you know, in both worlds.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_01]: So you produce a movie called
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, we have your own Atlanta, uh, GZ.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: GZ is in there.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: And then a traffic thunder, fame, uh, Brandon T. Jackson is a Detroiter, uh, Clifton Powell.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: And, uh, Omar Gooding.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_01]: Omar, man.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's a, that's a star that it lineup.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: It is.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, was that your first movie?
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: That's fifth movie, but that's a creative first movie as a writer director producer that is the first movie got Oh, so you wrote it.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, directed it and produced it.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: All yourself.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yes All right Don't for somebody that is a serial entrepreneur you've done well for yourself Why would you write it directed and produce it yourself while I went to you find someone?
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it ended up that way, okay.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't go there to do that, but as you know David in entrepreneurship, you just do whatever it takes to get it done.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: Did I get started like that?
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: No, I went there like an executive producer and then from there one led to another and led to another and then eventually I became the writer director producer.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: Gotcha.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: There was a original team that was working on it and the original team has to move on to something else than I picked it up and then I took it to the finish line.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: What do you mean I got to do something else?
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: You mean some of the project?
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: No, I did, but then life changes, right?
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of things happen in life.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: And this is not the first time I'm facing that.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: I already faced these kind of issues in the past, especially in the indie film industry, these things happen daily.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: This is not like a major paramount or Warner or Universal, right?
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: These issues happen.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: But your primary, your primary lot in life in terms of business is you're a serial entrepreneur?
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: And what is the company that you, what is, I guess, what is your most successful company?
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even have a few others.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: So the main company is Kaiba.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's a tech company.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's IT, automotive engineering, services, product company.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: And that's really, you know, from an automotive engineer to a tech entrepreneur is what I did.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: And then from there, I branched up into films, music, beauty, and so on and so forth.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about this tech company for a second.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_01]: When did you start it?
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: I started while I was working on the part time, but really I got in 2005.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: So 2005, I really, you know, went into full-time.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: I quit my job at Chrysler, and then went full-time doing that.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: How much money did you have to put into this business?
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: Um, whatever I had David, like, for example, in the best on the situation, right?
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: So initially I took all my credit line out, right?
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: And then I took my 401k out, and then I took the home equity line out.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: Aside note, I was taught I had some French, I was looking back on some hardly initiated.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: They took me to this restaurant, see this restaurant, when you say that it just triggered something.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: The wings were incredible here, I'm like, this is beautiful, and the lady owns it happened to be there, and they bring her over and they know them because they're always there.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: And she said, man, this lady has an amazing restaurant, I'm like, oh, this is awesome, congratulations.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: She walks away.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: They say, oh, she's about to lose this, just about to go out of business.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: And a few days later, and they say, yep, Fridays the last day.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: And what they told me was she actually, she put up her house to start this business.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: And he was like, yo, she's about to lose her house.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: And I eventually felt something, I'm like, man, you encourage entrepreneurship to, entrepreneurs to do something like this, man.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: If you're gonna be all in, I gotta go all in.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: And when you put up your house and you're extracting everything you got for this idea, what does that feel like if you can describe it?
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, obviously, to me, you have to go all in, that's true, and the boat is burnt, so do whatever it takes to make it happen.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: So, to me, that is a classic entrepreneur.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: Tell me about the business.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: What is it that you were actually working on?
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: So what we were actually working on is providing services to Chrysler.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: Chrysler was my employer, so I developed a tool for Chrysler software tool.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: And then also provided services like, you know, people, we are providing all engineers.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: and then we are also developing projects.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: So from Chrysler, it got into healthcare, it got into life sciences, it got into insurance, it kept growing.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: And then from Chrysler, GM4, Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, etc., etc.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_01]: So you created a software for your current employer,
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: at current at that at Chrysler I came out and developed you left so you saw the gap that they need yes before you left though where you like doing some research and kind of talking to people like hey man why don't we have this software
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I didn't go and talk like that because as an employee, as a bigger corporation, you don't do that.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: They don't encourage you to do that.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: To go and do these kind of commercial activity because it's all siloed right, they were in a bigger corporation.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: IT guys supposed to be an IT.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: Finance guys supposed to be in finance.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: HR guys supposed to be in, you know, and then there is somebody who is supposed to put them together, but they rarely come together.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not like a startup, you know, you grab the bull by the horn and make it happen.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: That is why the startups, they really solve a lot of problems.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: And bigger companies is very hard for them to solve problems.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: When was the last time you heard these guys, you know, creating highly innovative car lines?
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, all right.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing innovative about the industry.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I'm saying.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's the same thing.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: What was the problem that you were solving this software?
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: So the problem of a solving is that the main problem we are trying to solve is to when you have a high levels of absentism in an assembly plan or in any manufacturing company, how do we put the right person on the right job in real time?
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: I don't understand.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like you have 2,000 people right David, in a 2,000 person operation, 10% of the people won't show up to work.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: So imagine you have this set up studio set up, and you need five six people to run efficiently.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: All in a sudden, you're engineer mixing engineer is not here.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody's gonna, what are you gonna do?
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: You're gonna grab somebody else to put them on a job.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: How would you turn this podcast into?
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: You won't have a podcast, so you won't have a car line, but that is what they do.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: They hire more people.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: we call in temporary part time and then that is not enough they also higher flotters.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: So the flotters will be floating around to replace the temporary part time and they will be replacing the full time.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, so in the plant, let's say, there's a person that's supposed to do a job.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: If that person doesn't do the job, there's somebody that they're paying, that's there, simply just in case somebody doesn't show up.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_00]: And making sure that person can do that specific job.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: For example, somebody here should be able to, you know, do the mixing over there.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody's supposed to know recording.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: What if the person doesn't have to push the recording?
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: What are you going to do?
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: So you just train more people and then ask if that is not enough.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: You have floaters floating around.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: So that happens in most of the American manufacturing companies because it's not like they don't want to do the job.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: It is it is that they they have make more money.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: They work for the others extras over time.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: So they don't want to show up.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: Mmm, did they make good money in that industry?
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: They used to, but I think with all the latest things, you know, back in the days, they used to make a lot of money, couple homes, couple boards, vacation home, you know, as an assembly plant worker and you work seven days a week, four days, forty after forty over everything, time and a half, Saturday, Sunday, double time.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: So I guess the problem is, in that scenario, if someone's making good money, they're not as motivated.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's a common work today.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: And then also, as a company, you wanted to encourage them because you don't want to hire more people and pay them for health care insurance, et cetera, because you're adding more overhead.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: God.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's more effective to pay extra money to your people already on staff.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: Are you able to talk about these XOR footage you built?
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: So it's called map over utilization improvement system.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: The system is to really find out, first of all, it creates a database of who are all trained to do the job.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: And then it classifies based on A, B, C, D, A.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: The guy can read this, theoretically, you can do B.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: You can do the job.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: See in the time that you can do D is a master.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: Not only can you do a job, you can also train others.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: So you have that database.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: Then you have another database where people go and log into the computer, we know the guy has taken the job.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: Then we have a gatering system as soon as he swipes in, you know who is inside the plan.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: So then you filter that in real time dynamically through a database and then okay, that station is empty, Bob is available, but Bob is working in another station, but is D level.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: So I swap the guy here and put the flutter over there.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: So you kind of do that in dynamically and then making sure everybody is constantly trained and then you have a lot of attrition going on.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's a very hard for a supervisor running a line.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want him to, you know, have a start of last week, meaning if you don't start the plant on time, you lose ten minutes is a lot of money.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's millions and millions of dollars because the line has to keep going.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: it does that, it grabs all the training information, station information and the attendance information and the get-ring information and so in real-time it can make those kind of moves for them and then they have the sheet and it's more like a decision making tool in real-time.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_01]: Well, here did you create that?
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: I would say 2000.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: Well, let me ask this question.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: When did you sold it to them?
- 13:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's a licensing, yeah.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: They used it at, yeah.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_01]: What year did you get their first big licensing?
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: I would say around 2007 or so.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_01]: Around 2007.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: When did you leave the job?
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: 2005.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: 2005.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: And you started working on it while you were working there.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yes?
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: No, after.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_00]: How long did it take you to build it?
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's like a year and a half, two years, the building.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: And how much did it cost you to build about?
- 13:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's a million dollar.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: A million dollar.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's why you had to take all your resources.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_00]: And then also, we also did services.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_00]: So we also made most of the money on the services by putting people into certain positions and doing Fick's Cos Project.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_00]: And so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_01]: How many of you are licensing it today?
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: So it's it's Or do you know that are you still?
- 14:02[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I we that's all right.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: We gave it to them and then, you know So on then from there one thing led to another.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: You sold it to them.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
- 14:12[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but it gave you the, the social proof, yes, no pun intended, right?
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: Because it's not so much about money.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_00]: It's about you are a new guy, new kid on the block coming out of you're starting from ground zero.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_00]: And once Chrysler or any major company puts us, it's a cosine.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so you don't go and ask for more money on a course and all you need is a course and and from there you start building and and start providing more and more services.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: I see you sell it to Chrysler, but you still have the right to go sell it to Mercedes.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_01]: So, okay.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_01]: I see what you're saying.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm just super curious and you only have to answer that if you don't want to.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: But what was the, how did you value the company when you first started to Chrysler?
- 15:01[SPEAKER_00]: No, you don't value the company, you just value the value that they will receive.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: And then also look at what would be the right price point that will not make a prolonged decision-making process.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: I still make my off of that.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_00]: Little bit, isn't there?
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: But then mostly it's more than three to services.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_00]: And then technology changes right David.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_00]: So then you got to put a lot of smart things to do.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: Now tablers, this and that, nobody uses computer.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_00]: They do, but they walk around.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: So, all those things, you know, I'd been in not followed through and then, you know, it was implemented at that time and then the management came so it's a different manufacturing processes so now you got to spend a lot more money to get to the new level.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_01]: Just this company not including all the other stuff.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: What do you value this company if you were going to sell it and walk away?
- 15:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, if I were to value this company right now, I would say if somebody were to,
- 16:01[SPEAKER_00]: I would say close to $100 million.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_00]: $100 million?
- 16:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 16:05[UNKNOWN]: Cali.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: You don't want to walk away, though.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't want to walk away.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, do some more.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_00]: And then continue to increase the enterprise value and then exit.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_01]: So, you are thinking still?
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, yes, yes, I'm thinking nothing, okay.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: So, just what I'm currently working on, now that I have all of the adventures I got in, so I'm trying to see what I can do to exit here and then I can really start working on creating one of the companies of that value of much higher in value.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: Got it.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: So, all the other companies, you are an investor.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_01]: How do you look at a company that you want to invest in?
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: But I got a company that I want to share with you, right?
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like that.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: The right now, the one other key thing that I'm looking at is is more like a drive.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_00]: So in my case, I'm not only an investor, I'm also an operator.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm not putting, you know, dumb money, I'm putting smart money into the company.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: What's the difference?
- 17:02[SPEAKER_00]: the the the smart money where the money money along with the connections and the network also added to the money right so I may I may have a lot of money right David but I don't know how to run your business I have no knowledge so all I can offer you is the money
- 17:19[SPEAKER_00]: But if I give you the money and I have the connections, I have the know-how, and I can open the doors, I can get you the customers, imagine my money plus all of them, the velocity of that would be a lot more higher, right?
- 17:33[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 17:34[SPEAKER_00]: And it'll go a lot farther, not only in terms of your ROI, but also in terms of the growth of the company itself, and mentor the founder and help them go to the next level.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, right.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: So someone comes to you with an idea.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: How do you start to evaluate that?
- 17:53[SPEAKER_00]: So first thing I look for is that I look at the founder.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_00]: I look at the entrepreneur.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_00]: Does this person has the drive?
- 18:03[SPEAKER_00]: Because if you don't have the drive, no amount of coaching, no amount of money you're going to cut it.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_00]: Either you have it or you don't.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_00]: It's such a burning desire that the person has to have.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: How do you tell though?
- 18:15[SPEAKER_00]: Because they're gonna come excited with the I got this idea and this is people love it and things that I nature how do you tell I mean by tell by telling them okay By by by by by beginning out whether they have the drive or not How do you figure that out I will just say okay.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not interested
- 18:32[SPEAKER_00]: So they are getting they come back, I said, I'm not interested, get lost, again they come back and whatever objection you provide to them and if they are able to come back with a very compelling value proposition then you know, this person is not a quitter.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_00]: Most of the people quit as soon as you say it's not working in that moment based on what I saw is not working.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't mean this product won't work at this company won't take off.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_00]: So two months, three months later, conditions change, the person will come back and say, hey, you said this.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_00]: You said that based on this forecast is not working, but look, I got the first customer.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_00]: You see, I have the proof of concept.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: I have a paying customer.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_00]: Would you consider looking at it?
- 19:21[SPEAKER_00]: I know that is a drive.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_00]: And then I'm looking at it and say, no, you get lost.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's still not working.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's just bullshit.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_00]: Again, six months later, he comes back and does the same thing.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_00]: Then you know you have the person has a drive.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: Give me an example of somebody who invested in that that paints that picture for me.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_00]: I mean,
- 19:41[SPEAKER_00]: Like, like, I would say one person constantly kept on coming, coming, coming for almost over a year.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_01]: Mm.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_01]: Those are business.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, it's an entertainment business.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, multiple ways and multiple things and multiple pathways.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_00]: And so what I understood is that no matter what this person has the pathway to make it happen.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't screen distracted, though, to you.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: Which one?
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, okay, I'm coming you with this idea.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: I can make my this way.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_01]: And this way, I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna do that.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_01]: You don't look at that person and say, yeah, you're confused.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying it's confused because David, in any business plan that you have, nothing happens by business plan.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_00]: It only happens by pivoting.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_00]: So I see as a sign of pivoting, meaning the person is adaptable and flexible based on changing market conditions, the person is willing to change and adapt.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's not married to the original business plan.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_00]: He put him on paper, which most of the time don't happen.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_00]: right how could how could your business plan predicted COVID you can't.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_00]: Can you predict Trump will come come back?
- 20:52[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_00]: Can you predict all these things?
- 20:55[SPEAKER_00]: No, that is never in anybody's business plan.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_00]: How about all this tariff?
- 20:59[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think you would up?
- 20:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he did say that, but but it's there.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_00]: So you need to adapt and pivot and change the business and that's what I'm looking for.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_00]: A person with a drive more often than not will find a way to make it happen.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: How much was the person asking you for?
- 21:16[SPEAKER_00]: A couple million dollars.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_01]: Did you invest in it?
- 21:21[SPEAKER_00]: I did.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_00]: Eventually I did.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's right now we are working on a few pivoting and the moving around.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think probably early next year it will start to break even.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_00]: Once it does, it will start to go.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_01]: They can't ask you for a couple million dollars.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's not only kept, kept on asking.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's all about also coming up with a different strategy that will make it happen that is convincing that the business plan, the business model will indeed produce revenue or a long period of time.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, let's just say, this person has to drive, you see it, they got that dog in it.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: What are we looking for in the business plan that makes it investing?
- 22:03[SPEAKER_00]: Is it an unmet need?
- 22:05[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_00]: And is there a value that you offer?
- 22:09[SPEAKER_00]: Is there a product market fit?
- 22:11[SPEAKER_00]: You may have the best service, there is no market for it.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 22:16[SPEAKER_00]: Is it a growing business, are not growing business?
- 22:18[SPEAKER_00]: And you look for a product market fit and the fit of the entrepreneur.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_00]: They all have to come together.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_00]: the fit of the entrepreneur what do you mean into the business whether this person A has the experience as the domain knowledge and can and can and work the product market fit.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: I see this product has to have some sort of value in the marketplace today.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, he's a solveny.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but also that that person has to have a specific skill set that you're
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: So, one is the drive, but two, you got to be able to do something.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, hundred percent.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_00]: No question about it.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_00]: What I'm saying is that all the other boxes have to be checked right there.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_00]: You have to check all the boxes.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_00]: On top of the box, the key trade got to be the drive.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_00]: Because if the drive is there, even if you don't have all the boxes checked, you will check the boxes in new times.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_00]: This is good because you're going to find the way and that's what I kept saying because in business you have to find those ways because a lot of things in paper don't turn into reality.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_00]: You look at any business plan David I mean I'll tell you the right if you go to any business school you're all this business professors they put out thousands of business plan
- 23:36[SPEAKER_00]: But they cannot create a business, but they at teach business plan.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_00]: But they cannot teach create business.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_00]: Why is that?
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: They don't have the draw.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_00]: You got it.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_00]: They have the knowledge that teach thousands and thousands of students.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_00]: They come from a lot of top schools.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_00]: But if you ask them to create businesses, they can't.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_00]: So the me, to me, the missing ingredient is the dry and plus the knowledge.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe the guy with the dry can take the knowledge from these guys and create the business.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_00]: And that is where a lot of the entrepreneurs you would see, they were all dropouts.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: except for Elon Musk, most of the guys even Bill Gates, he was a drop-out, right?
- 24:21[SPEAKER_00]: Steve Jobs was a drop-out.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying don't go to college or anything.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_00]: Of course.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_00]: What I'm saying is you still have to go to the college.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_00]: Even if you go to the college, that theoretical knowledge I call them paper tigers.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_00]: You look so appetizing.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_00]: You look so tough on paper.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: As soon as I put them in the real world, you bleed like a hemophilia.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 24:49[SPEAKER_01]: Not as good, bro.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_00]: Because you don't know how to do in a real world.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's good.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, for someone, let's just say it out.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think you said, I think you answered it because you're like, you, the average don't.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: For someone that maybe doesn't have that natural drive, is there a way to develop it?
- 25:11[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard unless you go through a lot of setbacks.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_00]: You have to go through setbacks.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_00]: You have to go through the ringer, otherwise you won't have that.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_00]: You have to have a high tolerance for pain.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_00]: And only when you have a pain, you love a gain.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_00]: And if you don't have a pain, it won't come.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_00]: Man, that is why the first time entrepreneurs are more tenacious, more intense than the future generations.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_00]: Because it gets diluted.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 25:44[SPEAKER_00]: You study the history.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_00]: You run to believe what I say.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: Look at the history.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_00]: the guy the four-handed four has so much in there but his grandchildren don't have the same thing as he invented it but what did the grandchildren do mean nothing against the you know future generation but it's just not there they can manage what he created can they create innovate and disrupt the answer is no
- 26:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think the staff was that they're 80% of all millionaires of first generation, which means wealth doesn't really travel well, meaning you can't really just give it to yourself.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's not a thing Chick-fil-A is so incredible, because to what Kathy started to Chick-fil-A, then Dan Kathy grew it, billion dollar company.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_01]: He just passed it to Andrew, his son, which is like an anomaly, to go to have
- 26:34[SPEAKER_01]: a child that can carry the swords.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: Why do you think that is?
- 26:39[SPEAKER_00]: I think to me, I see the same thing in immigrants too right David, the reason is the burning desire, the fire and the belly starts coming down over generations.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_00]: Because they never went through the same journey, they never went through the same pain, they never went through the same setbacks, and probably they never flipped, you know, woppers and burgers, and they never swept the floor, so they don't know that.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_00]: Right, so they are starting with something, it's, you know, given on a platter, and that's all they know.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_00]: And so they will not go to the extent of the first time entrepreneurs did.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_00]: Right, I mean, think about it.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_01]: No, absolutely.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_01]: How do you change that in your side?
- 27:25[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm only, you know, provide the knowledge and the access.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm asking him to go through the same journey that I did.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_00]: start from wherever you can start, learn your way because even if you have all the money right David, money, you know, access, I can only get him inside the door, but only the talent, the knowledge, the intensity keeps him inside and keep the longevity.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_00]: There's other ways we'll be out.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_00]: But I can go there and say, okay, God, do all that.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_00]: You see what I'm saying.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_00]: So, so that access and money alone is not that is why it kept saying, smart money, dumb money and dumb money can only go so far.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_01]: Did you deny your son certain privileges growing up that you were thinking like intentionally or did you intentionally some might think I'm I'm not done fully, but intentionally I want him to go through those at backs.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_00]: I want him to experience that because to me that's how you're going to have the longevity Because otherwise you will not have the same Drive because you lose the drive once you lose the drive game over
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: Man, I think we were talking about some sort of formula that you like when you take a business There's a formula that you have that grows these businesses.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go through that So
- 28:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like when I look at it is that what is that one thing that I can add that other people cannot add and what is that one thing I can keep on scaling that other people cannot do and that's what I look at it.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_00]: So what is the value that I and I only can add based on the given circumstances if that is there then I get involved if that is not there I cannot do it.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_01]: In the business you're saying it needs to be something that will be extremely difficult to do.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, except it duplicate or I can add the value effortlessly.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_00]: So that is why I got into multiple other businesses because it became effortless.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: What the humor for this?
- 29:27[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, me adding value, et cetera, because I've already had the ecosystem.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_00]: I've already have the infrastructure, right?
- 29:34[SPEAKER_00]: So now you have this whole podcast setup.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_00]: You can do five more podcasts here.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't cost you anything.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_00]: So I already built the infrastructure.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_00]: Fire plug, you come in tomorrow, you come in.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_00]: And it's the same fixed cost structure that I have.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_00]: I just run some repeat.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_00]: Not all of them is going to work, but the idea there is to, you're not going broke by doing that.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_01]: Got it.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, making sense?
- 30:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_01]: I want to get a real example of maybe a company that you invested in that has, has that thing.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, oh, this is, this is the mode.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_01]: This is the special key.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, like, I'm getting into the music business because of my son.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't have any understanding about music.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_00]: And then from there, tech, I got into film business.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_00]: Then from the film business, I dealt with a lot of celebrities influence, et cetera.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_00]: Then so I got comfortable dealing with them.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_00]: So then I, when I got into music business, it's the same thing.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_00]: Celebrities influence, it's a common thread in the music business.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_00]: And then from there, I said, wow, I can do this.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_00]: I can add the business knowledge, an entrepreneurial operating system to the music business.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_00]: And so it became effortless to me.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_00]: Initially, I have, there was some struggle, but once I understood how the game, being played, so now I'm adding all the pieces, all on a set of, I'm adding the tech piece to the business.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_00]: So the distribution side, the studio side, the label side,
- 31:03[SPEAKER_00]: and then the likeness and the music video film, I'm bringing them together.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_00]: So now I'm working on it, still not put together, you know, in the way that I want, but I think it's starting to come together.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_01]: But give me an example of a company that maybe you're involved in, where this is the, maybe you don't add it, but the business itself has a very specific thing that is hard to duplicate or as a proprietary or just in that business.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it's the entrepreneur has the thing.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_01]: What is, just give me an example for the people that are watching.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like my business that I did.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_01]: You business that you're involved in that you said, I come to you and I said, I want you to invest in my business.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: And you say, whoa, there's a piece here that David only you can provide.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_01]: I like that.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_01]: Commit an example of something that you actually invested in because there was a unique piece.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like, I mean, I did invest in the film, right?
- 32:00[SPEAKER_00]: I went there as an investor where I felt was more about where I can add value to the business.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_00]: So that's how we got in.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_00]: Because when I saw the, you know, indie filmmaking industry, I felt like,
- 32:11[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't have the whole business part taken care of.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_00]: They're a bunch of guys trying to make a film, but they don't know much about business, nothing about marketing, nothing about distribution, nothing about, you know, you just have a bunch of cameras and script and this and that.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_00]: So then I add bolted on to the business part, then all on a sudden it became a...
- 32:32[SPEAKER_00]: somewhat of viable business and then I kept doing it over time, so on full number five on the trap city, now it became a number one trending movie on stars.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_00]: So from not knowing anything, so we kept doing it, right?
- 32:47[SPEAKER_00]: First film, I was just a money guy.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't do anything.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_00]: I was just watching from the sidelines.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: Damani.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: Damani.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_00]: Hi, and then second one, third one, Bob then I start to understand and then I work with four or five guys for different directors and I got the knowledge from four of those guys.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_00]: One guy was very good in location scouting, another guy good in marketing, another guy good in project management, another guy is an amazing scriptwriter,
- 33:16[SPEAKER_00]: When you work with four, you got the knowledge from them, it's like a reverse osmosis, much like your big hand here, so I just take everything from there and then all of a sudden that becomes my knowledge.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_00]: Then in moving number five, I'm a lot more knowledgeable now, now I'm at a point right there, but what I'm trying to say to you, I'm not going to invest anymore of my money.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_00]: I have so much of operational knowledge that I can take all these things and add some value to a new film where some other film investor who wants to do.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_00]: Now I bring in the operational knowledge, plus my financial knowledge, then the next movie that I'm going to do that's going to be much more elevated.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_00]: It has a high likelihood of you having the return on investment.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_01]: What's your relationship with money?
- 34:00[SPEAKER_01]: How did you describe your relationship with money?
- 34:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think I need a lot more, much like a lot of entrepreneurs, the financial literacy has to be there for me.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I wouldn't say I'm there, probably I'm only there 60%.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_01]: Let me say there, what do you mean?
- 34:19[SPEAKER_00]: Meaning, attract the money.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm not doing enough to attract.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just doing a lot more projects.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_00]: So I need to focus on a lot of financial and fiscal discipline.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_01]: Because it's not your best too much.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_00]: Invest too much, probably I've taken too many projects so probably I shouldn't be doing all that so I should cut down and It's not so much how much money you make it's how much you keep really Give you the large a very so the keeping part.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not good at it.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's what I meant I'm making money, but I'm not keeping more money coming, but more money leaving is Leaving because of expenses or leaving because you're just as I'm speaking taking too many swings too many swings
- 35:01[SPEAKER_01]: But sometimes all those swings, you hit one, you're like, ah, I know, it works.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's why I'm chasing, right?
- 35:08[SPEAKER_00]: It's not so much about money, David.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_00]: It's more about the thrill of the chase, right?
- 35:14[SPEAKER_00]: You look at a problem, like you asked me, right?
- 35:16[SPEAKER_00]: So you conceive something that other people don't know, but you visualize and you make it happen.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_00]: And that chase is what keeps me going.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, without the chase, I mean, you may keep more, but you may not be as happy.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_01]: You didn't like happiness, you love swinging at bad.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_00]: It is, and that's why the keeping is not there.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_00]: You see what I'm saying?
- 35:45[SPEAKER_00]: As I said, okay, it's becoming, so a lot of people say, man, you get so many coming in, but so many go and out because of the swings I take.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_00]: And then I tell myself, it's one life, and you have to enjoy the life.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_00]: And but how many people would have these kind of opportunity to do these kind of thing?
- 36:04[SPEAKER_00]: And I was just an employee at one time and look at how many people that I employed and look at how many opportunities I'm taking as swing, tech, film, music, beauty, fashion, wellness, pretty much whatever I want to do, I am taking it right and that to me is a height of American dream and that's what I enjoy the most.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_00]: How could a guy coming out of India from a very humble middle-class background can pursue these kind of opportunities in the land of opportunities on my own call.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_00]: And that is what gives me excitement.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's so much about the money of course is important, but it's more about that sense of fulfillment and purpose is what keeps me going.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_01]: when you first started getting money and it seems like you may have had the money for a while because while you were working your job it wasn't like you weren't your broke
- 37:00[SPEAKER_00]: No, I mean, I had, yeah, I mean, yeah, you have a six-figure income, you have a free car, you get a 401k, you have a golden handcuff, I mean, you know, I could go there, I can have a regular vacation two, three weeks of, you know, year, much like everybody else, but of course, now with an entrepreneurship, you don't have a vacation because all days are you're working, and you're more money, but you're working more, for sure, right, you're non-stop, only for
- 37:30[SPEAKER_01]: Do you invest in just companies?
- 37:32[SPEAKER_01]: Do you invest in assets in a way like real estate?
- 37:34[SPEAKER_00]: A little bit of real estate, but mostly I invest only in companies.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_01]: Really?
- 37:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because I never I don't have the time to go and do with the stock market this and that because I'm more focused on the companies that I'm involved in.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: Right, but I mean it seems like it's a lot of time.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, some in human beings in a company, so you've got to invest in the company, you've got to make sure your investment is secure I mean, you trust the odds of renewable, but not all the way.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_01]: Or they wouldn't have to come to you for more.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly, well said.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_00]: Well said and why is that the investment strategy I guess what's that why is that your investment strategy like I'll just consider investing these companies seems like it's so much time because it's also my company right it's not like I'm it's so I'm also the owner of the company so they aren't the entrepreneur gets a piece of the company I'm also getting it so so I could be a hands-up but that's the journey that I've chosen because I'm also creating a lot of entrepreneurs so I create a empower entrepreneurs
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: this is true.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_01]: Let me ask you this question.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_01]: So I get a chance to do this publicly as a lesson, but I have an event called podcast on it.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_01]: There's 1500 people came last year.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_01]: We just went through the agreement.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_01]: This one is going to be about 2,200 that we're looking for.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_01]: I am blind in what I don't
- 39:03[SPEAKER_01]: However, I'm now looking for a partner who can invest, we don't lose much money, okay?
- 39:13[SPEAKER_01]: We do lose a little money, but I think if I didn't have to worry about
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: production, systems, branding, and ticket sales.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_01]: And making sure that I don't lose all my investment, I think we could be more profitable every single year and I think these how these other companies do.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_01]: There's two other companies that are in the space and ages has some sort of partnership or acquisition.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm coming to you to say, okay, let's say, for instance, we like each other.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, and I want to position my company in a way that you would say, this is an opportunity and we're going to own an industry, how would I have to approach you?
- 39:59[SPEAKER_00]: How do you have to approach you, you know, me is very simple, right?
- 40:03[SPEAKER_00]: Are you in a industry or is this product service is in a growing industry?
- 40:08[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_00]: How much growth can be anticipate and where are you in the growth?
- 40:14[SPEAKER_00]: Have you captured 1% to 3%.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously, look at your traction, right?
- 40:21[SPEAKER_00]: How much traction have you gotten?
- 40:24[SPEAKER_00]: And how long will it take?
- 40:25[SPEAKER_00]: And what is the investment?
- 40:27[SPEAKER_00]: How long will it take to recruit the investment?
- 40:29[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, break even, when are you going to be profitable?
- 40:32[SPEAKER_00]: If you are already profitable, that's already addressed.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_00]: And look at at a very basic, you know, level.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_00]: And then if the basic passes, then you do a complete due diligence.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_00]: who's your demo, what are their behaviors, et cetera, both the demographics and the psychographics and you go through that.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_00]: And then what would be the advertisers look like and will they have the appetite?
- 40:57[SPEAKER_00]: What do they have to gain?
- 40:58[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously, that is in your data, right?
- 41:00[SPEAKER_00]: That is in your audience.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_00]: So then you take a deeper look at it.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wow.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_00]: So if we do this this much of advertising revenue we can get this much A sponsorship we can get.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wow.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_00]: So I can on a on a you know, I can forecast that this will make you know Let's say $50 million
- 41:19[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I'm gonna adjust that make your worst case scenario.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm only gonna give him 25% of his projections At worst case scenario, what are you gonna do and then really build those scenarios and then go from there?
- 41:31[SPEAKER_00]: worst case scenario, you know, Okay scenario and the best case scenario.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_00]: Got it.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_00]: I talk realistic scenario if you will.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah
- 41:38[SPEAKER_01]: Got you.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_01]: I talked to this company that they had, it's a podcast distribution platform and I want to say they have like a hundred thousand piecasters and what I do was, I said, you know, let's do a partnership.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like I,
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like I need money to do this because like today we were talking about the down payment on the venue, down payment is $10,000.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_01]: I have the $10,000.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to put it down payment down, take a couple of thousand dollars, get a website and all that kind of stuff, and we're going to make some money up front.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_01]: No problem.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_01]: but I pitch this company, I'm like, bro, I don't need you to give me $200,000.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_01]: Just put some money in.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_01]: You put up half, I put up half.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_01]: I do to work if you have some sort of the other platform of piecasters is a good connection.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_01]: You don't lose any money because we don't lose that much money.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, but maybe I didn't position it correctly or maybe I just need to take that pitch to other people but what I need is
- 42:43[SPEAKER_01]: In order, I need connections or a partnership with a platform that can benefit from their brand being the one producing this.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_00]: Well, 100%.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_00]: And that product market fit as to be there, right?
- 42:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_00]: And whatever they are doing and whatever you are offering has to match.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_00]: And if they see more value adding your services to top of what they have,
- 43:06[SPEAKER_00]: And they can make some extra bucks, then that's where the value is.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_00]: Otherwise, it'll be a one-sided value, right?
- 43:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's more about you trying to, you know, then it becomes a dumb money as we discuss.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_00]: So we need to figure out, is it a smart money and smart opportunity for those guys as well?
- 43:22[SPEAKER_01]: Do you have any connection with like Spotify or Apple Firecast or something like that?
- 43:27[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have direct connection, but I can look them up, you know, because, you know, in this day and age, it's all about, you know, who we need to target and from there, we open a portal or dax, and I may not know somebody, but somebody I know will know somebody and reach out to them.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_00]: Because to me, David is very simple.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_00]: As long as the value is there, we can always find the people.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_01]: We have the value.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_00]: Any of the people.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so my point is, my focus is so divided.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't know how to add a conversation with an investor, maybe I haven't had enough conversations with investors.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe I'm approaching it wrong and undervaluing myself, because maybe somebody should just give me $150,000.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_01]: to like for all the the hard work I've done over the last years and then we give you your percentage but I feel like I'm approaching it from a partnership perspective when at that level I'm under valuing myself.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 44:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, yes, and probably you're true right David because a lot of the entrepreneurs people like yourself You know, we are so focused on running the businesses and all that we may not have the financial chargons that are required To whisper into an investor with that kind of a language, right?
- 44:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's almost like you got to speech.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_00]: Let's say French.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_00]: See guys somebody speaks French would go and whisper into their ear and Then use them as a consultant and then you bridge it
- 44:50[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you don't necessarily need to have those kind of talk and then, you know, investment talk.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_00]: And then you add your entrepreneurial slash business information to them.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_00]: They convey, then the guy with the money would say yes.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_00]: Otherwise, you know, they may not understand.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_00]: So, people have a lot of money, but they may not have the right understanding of what we are getting into.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_00]: And if somebody can translate that in the language that they understand, I think that's how I have done some instances where I send some visperers.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_00]: Because I don't go and say, I send the visperer, they go and visperer.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_00]: I said, God damn it, I'm saying the same thing.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_00]: You say, yeah.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think that sounds like cheesy, yeah.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's it.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's just on the bread and bread and bread.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 45:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I've been saying the same thing I speak English, okay?
- 45:45[SPEAKER_00]: And the guys speak English, but that's not what they want.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_00]: They want something that they understand.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_01]: Man, I think you just hit the nail on the head, bro.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_01]: So I go to these like, it's podcasting events, and I talk to this, the one I was talking about, the podcast distribution platform.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_01]: I talk to a lot of people, and I don't know if I'm painting the picture correctly, because everybody, well, you take my email, take my email, take my email, take my email, I'm like, all right, cool, no problem.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_01]: Send an email, I'll definitely follow up.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_01]: My name is Brandon Boy, it's just like the Brandon.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_01]: Um, he starts, he goes sort of, and he's also a couple of people and comes back with the contact like, hey, they're super interested set up a call.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, all right, cool.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm sitting at email.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_01]: We set up a call.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_01]: While we're on a call, I think I'm doing a good job.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_01]: But they know, they didn't reply back.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I, so I'm not the right whisper.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so that's what I'm saying.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_00]: We have to do that.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, look at our politics, look at all the major deals right David.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_00]: They're all done by some lobbyists.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_00]: They're not by done by the real people, real operators.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_00]: Because the lobbyists like a glue, they go and make it happen, they say certain things.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what they do, I don't want to say what they do, but they do something, they'll build gets past, you get a major deal.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_00]: Whereas if I go on pitch, it's just not landing, maybe, you know, that there's something going on.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_00]: And so we need to address that.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying as we take that from that playbook and as an entrepreneur, we got to know how the deals happen, how to negotiate, how to pitch.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_00]: These are all part of the toolkit.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_01]: I think it just changed again.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_00]: I'm either, I'm realizing now that I'm either one terrible at pitching and I need to get better or I need to find somebody who has that natural connection and then be the bridge for them and then watch one or two deals and then you get it reverse osmosis you already drink a lot of water so keep the water
- 47:37[SPEAKER_00]: Then you just grab whatever they have and then you empty their knowledge and that becomes your knowledge and then you know Because a lot of things David as you know in entrepreneurship or any business is not in the knowing it's actually in the doing
- 47:51[SPEAKER_00]: Right, so because in the knowing it's out there in the Google it's out there in YouTube so much knowledge is out there It's free, but that knowledge doesn't translate into the doing that can be only done by People are done the movie scene the movie.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's why column paper tigers right because it's now good just to be tough from paper We have to take that and go with the guys who are battle tested and knows what to say how to say when to say
- 48:18[SPEAKER_00]: and more importantly those guys listen right because they've been doing this deal over and over because he would have done certain deals that they have gotten the returns.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_00]: He's comfortable only with those guys.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_00]: By the time we go and explain all that time runs away and those guys most of the guys don't do the deal.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_00]: actually same thing with me right some people that I know they come on this but tell you got again and while I said why this is this is okay got it and then by the time you read this plan understand and doing meetings and meetings it takes so much of time and effort right because you know it takes so much time for us to click yes or no you tell me that's good bro
- 48:56[SPEAKER_00]: right because he has to read about what this business is he may not even know what part casting business is how are you going to educate the guy who's going to give the money wow and it makes me think about like Steve Jobs and Steve Wazniak right Wazniak he knows how to do the stuff yes but he didn't ever build Apple no he doesn't have to communicate and and and jobs at the charisma he can sell anything
- 49:22[SPEAKER_00]: is a great marketer.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_00]: Did he invent anything on his own?
- 49:25[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_00]: He took from everybody else.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_00]: But he put them together in a way that we understood.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_00]: So he became a genius.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know what's incredible?
- 49:39[SPEAKER_00]: That is also genius.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think I know how to communicate in certain avenues, but this avenue, I want to not even that comfortable, just yet, but until I do, I need to find someone that has that natural thing.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think absolutely right David, because we think we know everything actually, we don't know how loud as you keep going in the journey, the more you start doing the more you know, actually you realize the less you know.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_00]: And then you need to have the right guys to add certain things.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_00]: And then keep on building your repertoire and over time you keep adding more and more.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_00]: Then you realize, wow, if this guy goes the same thing I do, that makes a difference.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_00]: So when we're getting hung up on, I have to do everything by myself.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't like to go and drink.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_00]: But I have to send somebody else to go and play golf with these guys.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_00]: because the deal is getting done in the golf course right and if you don't play golf and you don't hang out with these guys you don't get the deal are you go to some strip club and that's where you see the deal and if you don't go there you miss the deal are very few things happen in the boardroom.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_01]: So he sends some people to the stroke lab.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm just saying, you got depending on your customer base.
- 50:53[SPEAKER_00]: But they behavior, you have to adjust your strategy.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_00]: You can't just say, I'm only going to do this.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's not going to happen.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_00]: At some places, you got to send a lobbyist.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_01]: Got to send a lobbyist.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_01]: I need a lobbyist.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you go.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_01]: Because I'm good at the idea of vision.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_01]: But it's
- 51:11[SPEAKER_01]: And I think I'm good at rallying the people.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_01]: Like people, but when I start having these conversations about like investment, things that I need to brush, it's just a different animal altogether, right?
- 51:23[SPEAKER_00]: Because now you're communicating value to them, return on investment, payback, period, this and that, all kinds of stuff.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_00]: So we got to speak to the language that they understand and then they say yes.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_00]: This is so much.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_00]: Otherwise it's far into them.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_01]: Do you still invest in movies?
- 51:43[SPEAKER_00]: I do, but no, I'm not putting my own money anymore.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_00]: I only invest my time, I invest my knowledge, I invest my energy, I stop putting money on my own because I've already meant to school, meaning, there's a money come from.
- 51:57[SPEAKER_01]: Where's the money come from?
- 51:59[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever money that I made in other ventures, I put in there.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_00]: Money comes from other investors, packaged them in such a way, the studio will pick it up, so I start packaging those films.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_01]: So I know a guy, actually, my man Benton, he was, he was like supposed to be here today.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_01]: He showed me this short film, it might have been 30 minutes or so.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_01]: One of the most incredible short films I've ever seen in my life.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_01]: He sent it to me, I'm watching it and I'm driving.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm watching it because he told me.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, I told him, I'd watch it.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm watching it driving, looking at it, and eventually I'm like,
- 52:34[SPEAKER_01]: This is, it grabs my attention.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_01]: And they're going around the country and they're, they're doing these live viewings and you know, are selling out, everybody loves it, Ray reviews, right?
- 52:46[SPEAKER_01]: I think as an artist, he has something special gold.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, okay, I don't even know how to make money from movies.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_01]: And he says, well, the objective is to find someone who likes the project and wants to turn to a full feature.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_01]: I said, well, I don't know that space, but I love this movie, I don't know how I can help.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not involved in the movie at all, but I just thought it was dope.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_01]: Um, what do you suggest him do?
- 53:09[SPEAKER_01]: Because I'm going to send him this like, but you need to watch this episode.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_01]: What should he do?
- 53:12[SPEAKER_01]: He already has this, the social proof, people let the screen and he just did one in Detroit or something like that, sold out there, everywhere they go.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_01]: 200 people, short film.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_01]: If you were on the board, what's the next step?
- 53:28[SPEAKER_00]: If there is a proof of concept, it depends on the genre of the film, right, it's short film.
- 53:33[SPEAKER_00]: If there is some traction, if there is social proof, audience proof, whatever you want to call, then I would say, okay, let me find, first of all, I have to ask the filmmaker.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_00]: whether, you know, he's okay to give it to a major studio who may even change the script.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 53:54[SPEAKER_00]: Are you okay with that?
- 53:55[SPEAKER_00]: If he says no.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_00]: Then you go into a sort of like, you know, loosely put together small-time investors and then you cobbled them up and you maintain the creative control.
- 54:10[SPEAKER_01]: Got it, right, but that doesn't take away the interest from your perspective saying all right, well, you're just stubborn on this project Yeah, like like for the major players, they would not do that, right?
- 54:21[SPEAKER_00]: So if I am Paramount if I'm a new or so I'll get my guys involved
- 54:27[SPEAKER_00]: Because in my mind, I have a big ecosystem, you are a small-time player, yeah, you got this proof of concept, and some of me running around, and very fine, you already tested the market.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_00]: So there is some value to it, but you just don't know how to release a phone, you don't got the experience, you don't know the market, you don't know the audience, but I do.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_00]: So I will decide when I will do it, what I will do, what I will change, et cetera, et cetera.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_00]: and then sometimes I'm not even release the movie because I may have other projects come in and I may release in Christmas 2020-28 and I'll put you on a close door which happens.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_00]: But if you don't want to go through that struggle but you're so want to get the creative then you need to really start pitching it to
- 55:09[SPEAKER_00]: Investors are some some small-time investors and cobble up Depends on the size of the ticket right if it is a couple million dollars is one thing If it is half a million depends on you know, whether this is what kind of a genre Whether we need top talent or not or this is just a first time in default depending on that You come up with the different strategies right David so depending on
- 55:33[SPEAKER_00]: Where that is if it is 2.5 million dollars is one way to look at it if it is 5 this one way 10 million upwards it's a different ball game if it is only you know less than a million is a different ball game So get a couple of friends and family 250,000 a piece you got a million and you go and do it
- 55:52[SPEAKER_01]: Let's say he approaches you and you're like, I'm not putting my own money up.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_01]: However, I may be the person that can put bring the pieces together.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_01]: You will get involved in the life.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_00]: I will do that because it's too risky, right?
- 56:06[SPEAKER_00]: Because film business is a very risky business.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_00]: After being in the business, I realized that you should have a lot of extra money for that.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_00]: I spoke you up.
- 56:16[SPEAKER_00]: That's it.
- 56:16[SPEAKER_00]: That should have extra a lot of money sitting in there.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_00]: And even if you lose everything that you put in, it should not make even a small dent into your life.
- 56:27[SPEAKER_00]: If it does, you are already taken away too much risk.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_00]: You see what I'm saying?
- 56:32[SPEAKER_01]: What business is the if you're most comfortable investing in today?
- 56:36[SPEAKER_00]: So right now the way I look at it is is that the one that doesn't require a lot of investment but the value is way up is what I look at it because you know because money by itself is not the fact that it's about adding value as we discussed earlier I may give you a million dollar but if you just don't know how to use the million dollar what good is it to you?
- 57:00[SPEAKER_00]: But if I give the same million dollars to a seasoned operator that has done multiple businesses, a lot of connections, huge roll of decks, that person has a high likelihood of taking that one million tournament to a five million.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_00]: The other person with a million, he will make it zero.
- 57:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yes or no?
- 57:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because he doesn't know where to put in.
- 57:22[SPEAKER_00]: So he may go and hire a high-flying CEO for $200,000.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_00]: And then have an amazing secretary for $100,000.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_00]: And do some publicity for $200,000.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_00]: So 500,000 is gone.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_00]: instead of going to the basics, okay, how am I going to add value?
- 57:39[SPEAKER_00]: Where is my value coming in?
- 57:41[SPEAKER_00]: What is my product?
- 57:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to hire anybody.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to use my all my connections to make sure there is a product market fit, or a product, or a service market fit, and figure that out before hire anybody.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_00]: And then I use my connections like we talked about lobbyists, whisperers and the whisper whisper whisper and the put them together, voila, I got something that's has the traction.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_00]: Then get the right cars in there, put a little bit of money here and then add the value, then bring the other cars.
- 58:13[SPEAKER_01]: I gotta find a lobbyist.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_01]: Last question, last, because this is, this is, I didn't come yet to say, you hired a lobbyist David, but that's what I got.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what I needed.
- 58:23[SPEAKER_01]: Because I feel like I'm talented, right?
- 58:27[SPEAKER_01]: But I think this is a sobering moment for me to say,
- 58:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm talented in certain areas, but I'm not going to be able to pull out like I'd be seeing stuff, you know what I mean?
- 58:39[SPEAKER_01]: But I may not be the person to execute it, you know what I mean?
- 58:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like, our money, best editor ever, and he'll put together a work of art and I just see small things.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_01]: I could never do his job.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_01]: 100% I could never, ever.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_01]: He makes it easy for me to say, oh well, what about that part?
- 58:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I know yeah, you're right.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_01]: And we just work really, really well together.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_00]: We can only critic, we cannot create.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_00]: 100% and people get confused between critic and creating.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_00]: And a lot of people, I see that in several instances, just because I go and watch a movie and critic the movie, doesn't mean that I can be Steven Spielberg, but a lot of people out of that ego, they think they're Steven Spielberg.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_00]: I said, guys, you just criticise a goddamn movie.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_00]: You're not a creator.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_00]: Shut up for a cup of big quiet.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 59:28[SPEAKER_00]: Be quiet on the set, and then be quiet.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 59:33[SPEAKER_00]: So, we deal with a lot of the soul.
- 59:34[SPEAKER_00]: You are absolutely right just because you are able to identify these things doesn't mean you can go and edit.
- 59:40[SPEAKER_00]: If I ask you to edit, you don't know how to even log into that.
- 59:43[SPEAKER_00]: For example, Pewder, how would you go and do something?
- 59:46[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_00]: And now I'm going to ask you what is the timeline?
- 59:48[SPEAKER_00]: You don't know what time you're not
- 59:56[SPEAKER_00]: People are like that they bullshit all day long and as an investor, you ask a excellent question, we as an entrepreneur, as an investor should be able to spot whether the guys and actual editor are who is criticizing the editor, right, and you should not get confused and twisted by a guy who is critiquing to be the real guy who is editing.
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's good.
- 1:00:18[SPEAKER_00]: You see what I'm saying and that is where we get as an entrepreneur, we get cheated because of these cats floating around and we need to sniff them very early on and not go with them and base your money.
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_00]: And that is one other thing that I waste a lot of money early on and most of the entrepreneurs fail because of these cats.
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_01]: in all your will wrap up in a second in your companies do you have somebody that you send into every company to do a specific role or a specific job or is it kind of you evaluated I evaluated and then and then I tried to figure it out like I told you about the lobby right so if I need to go into government contracts
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_00]: number one thing I got to have a lobby is, right?
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_00]: If I need to go to commercial, so I need a guy who can go to the bars and take him winding and dining those kind of guys.
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_01]: You're not good, you're not a good minor in diner.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I do that.
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_00]: I go and shake hands and do that, but I don't go and drink and I don't get drunk.
- 1:01:16[SPEAKER_00]: I don't do those.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_00]: I don't go to the strip club.
- 1:01:18[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm not the right guy to do that.
- 1:01:22[SPEAKER_00]: So just not use to it.
- 1:01:23[SPEAKER_01]: If they invite you to use sense of worry, I sense somebody.
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_00]: I just make an appearance and I get out.
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_00]: So I still show that I am a team player.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not play, but I show to them that I care.
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_00]: And I play the sport with them.
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_00]: because it it creates bonding with them right because you know you're a part of it and they may drink whatever they want I just drink hot water I come back so nobody knows that I'm drinkin' ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't give up, I won't give up.
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't know how to give up.
- 1:02:16[SPEAKER_00]: So I keep going at it until it works.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_00]: Second, naturally, I'm connected to people.
- 1:02:24[SPEAKER_00]: I may, I can cut through genders, I can cut through races, I can cut through countries, I can cut through anybody.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even need to speak the language, I can communicate with them.
- 1:02:36[SPEAKER_00]: those two things is what I have that I see that very rare and other people and I put that to work all the time.
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_01]: Was it natural you developed it?
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_00]: It's already there.
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_00]: I just developed it because many people will give up.
- 1:02:49[SPEAKER_00]: I said, why this guy?
- 1:02:50[SPEAKER_00]: Because a lot of the guys gave up on Trapsity but I didn't.
- 1:02:54[SPEAKER_00]: I kept going and going and going.
- 1:02:56[SPEAKER_00]: After several years now it became number one movie.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_00]: If I quit I would not have seen that.
- 1:03:01[SPEAKER_00]: I did not know it's going to be a number one movie on stars.
- 1:03:05[SPEAKER_00]: And that is my first urban movie and I'm not from the culture.
- 1:03:10[SPEAKER_00]: Right, I don't know.
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not from the street.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know the state, but it's the street movie.
- 1:03:19[SPEAKER_00]: But I kept on going to with the curiosity.
- 1:03:23[SPEAKER_00]: So I would say the combination of curiosity and not giving up would be my unique thing given by God.
- 1:03:30[SPEAKER_00]: Because I'm always curious, the curiosity because I keep looking, as soon as I saw, as of wow, you got all this iconic emphasis of all time right here, and so that's what I was looking, I was looking at your setup.
- 1:03:46[SPEAKER_00]: So like this, I'm naturally curious and I just don't give up.
- 1:03:49[SPEAKER_01]: Man, thank you so much, man.
- 1:03:52[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate this conversation was a real gem for me because the biggest thing I got is, man, David, you're not Superman.
- 1:04:03[SPEAKER_01]: You need to find someone who has a natural gift that you don't have instead of forcing it.
- 1:04:08[SPEAKER_01]: 100%.
- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_00]: And I'd a place to me and a place to most of the successful entrepreneurs.
- 1:04:13[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_01]: So, thank you so much.
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_01]: Do we miss anything?
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_01]: Is there anything you wanted to get off your chest before you even got here that you was like, I got a share list that I didn't ask?
- 1:04:21[SPEAKER_00]: No, I think it's one thing.
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_00]: Life is so short and everybody's bond with the gift and we just need to find what that gift is and move with purpose and the purpose of life is to be happy.
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you know, you can go to college, get married, kids, etc., but if you keep on asking question, what is the mother of all goals and you keep on asking, eventually you end up with happiness.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_00]: And that is why in our declaration of independence, life, liberty and happiness is there.
- 1:04:54[SPEAKER_00]: Mmm, that's good, man.
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_00]: Right, and it's just, you cannot go and seek happiness.
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_00]: You can go to public store, a croaker to buy happiness.
- 1:05:04[SPEAKER_00]: You have to be on the inside.
- 1:05:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:05:07[SPEAKER_00]: And what is inside comes out?
- 1:05:09[SPEAKER_00]: And I think if you don't do that, then why do we work so hard?
- 1:05:13[SPEAKER_00]: And what are we doing this for?
- 1:05:14[SPEAKER_00]: Because that's really for our soul.
- 1:05:17[SPEAKER_01]: Well said.
- 1:05:17[SPEAKER_01]: Well said.
- 1:05:18[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you so much, my brother.
- 1:05:20[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for coming.
- 1:05:21[SPEAKER_01]: I really enjoyed this conversation.
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for other people did too.
- 1:05:25[SPEAKER_01]: If you can, let everybody know how to find you, how to connect with you, all that stuff.

- 1:05:46[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna blow up.

- 1:05:48[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely, and make sure you all go follow right now.
- 1:05:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to spell it out for those that are just listening.

- 1:06:12[SPEAKER_01]: Your payback is just to go say thank you.
- 1:06:16[SPEAKER_01]: I mean may or may not respond, but he's a very busy man But I think for your own For your own gratitude, go say thank you.
- 1:06:25[SPEAKER_01]: So And go follow Moinservant to some and do your stuff with favor go follow my brother tell and then Also go get you some social proof go build something build it
- 1:06:34[SPEAKER_01]: really, really big, become really, really successful.
- 1:06:37[SPEAKER_01]: But then come back to your community and teach them how you did it.
- 1:06:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's the only way our community grows.
- 1:06:42[SPEAKER_01]: We're out.
- 1:06:43[SPEAKER_01]: Peace.
