- 0:44Speaker 4: I'm downdo, I'm god. I never knew that though, it
- 0:47Speaker 4: was just called Smoke on the water.
- 0:48Speaker 1: It's the chord progression I think zero three five zero
- 0:52Speaker 1: three something something seven five. It's the first one you
- 0:55Speaker 1: lose when you're at loan, when you're stop playing guitar.
- 0:58Speaker 4: I imagine it would be that or Stairway to help.

- 1:07Speaker 1: song was Knocking on Heaven's Door, the intron knocking the
- 1:10Speaker 1: Heaven's Door, the Do Do Do Do Do? And Blackbird
- 1:13Speaker 1: by Beatles by the Beatles. Yes, And it was the
- 1:15Speaker 1: first time I sort of played and went, that's not

- 1:25Speaker 1: Really okay, yes, and that's just a bubby's dismay.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Yeah, it was a shame, you know, I got disowned.
- 1:31Speaker 4: But what are you going to do?
- 1:32Speaker 1: It's it's crazy, though. Elliott's got my ball skills and
- 1:35Speaker 1: Holly's got Nichola's hand eye coordination. So she's dropping things,
- 1:37Speaker 1: she's walking into walls and like that has always been there.
- 1:40Speaker 1: You've lived here for four years now, I can relate.
- 1:44Speaker 1: But Ali is just good at all kinds of sports.
- 1:45Speaker 1: I've always been able to sort of pick up a
- 1:47Speaker 1: ball and just learn the basics of a sport. It's
- 1:49Speaker 1: been good at that. But I've never been elite or
- 1:51Speaker 1: anything like that at a sport. I'm not elite at anything.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Pretty elite no, no, no, but you know what we
- 1:56Speaker 1: are elite act getting older. We are masters at the Yes,

- 2:09Speaker 1: present sweat.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Have you ever done it before?
- 2:11Speaker 1: Yeah, the last two years I think at least. Yeah.

- 2:19Speaker 1: I'm not sure whether you have.
- 2:21Speaker 4: I would have transferred some money and do your account.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I think. I think sometimes you're like your presence in

- 2:38Speaker 4: What is very what is very sweet is the Dando
- 2:40Speaker 4: has wrapped this, but he's also wrapped it in Christmas.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Yeah, birthday, I was I love. It's always Christmas in
- 2:46Speaker 1: the Dande house.
- 2:47Speaker 4: That is true. That is true. It was love with
- 2:48Speaker 4: Louise's birth long ago, and I got her a present,
- 2:51Speaker 4: but I was looking around for wrapping paper. I've got
- 2:53Speaker 4: his Christmas wrapping paper.
- 2:54Speaker 1: It doesn't matter. It's just a thrill of opening up
- 2:57Speaker 1: a present.
- 2:57Speaker 4: That is true.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I didn't get you a card, because who gets I
- 3:00Speaker 1: don't even fu back cards. I know you like cards,
- 3:02Speaker 1: but I just didn't.
- 3:03Speaker 4: That is true, And I'm glad you mentioned that because
- 3:05Speaker 4: I was on my way over here, and I'm like,
- 3:07Speaker 4: Dane will be there between nine forty five and ten. Yeah,
- 3:09Speaker 4: at which point, Dan, I says, be here at nine
- 3:10Speaker 4: forty five.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Nicols like you to be done at this time, right,
- 3:14Speaker 1: like yest which one?
- 3:16Speaker 4: I'm thinking we're in a room. We're not going to be,
- 3:18Speaker 4: you know, sort of like playing musical. We're going to
- 3:20Speaker 4: be recording a podcast, and it's going to be that disruptive.
- 3:23Speaker 4: I'm going to open the pressure.
- 3:24Speaker 1: She has a meeting between I'm gonna watch Holly. Oh yeah,
- 3:27Speaker 1: that's doing the parents swap. You're doing the parent tree
- 3:30Speaker 1: kids swap. Yes, yeah, okay, but yeah, this is very sweet.
- 3:32Speaker 4: Now, while I'm doing this, I should say that Daniel
- 3:35Speaker 4: has a present. It's down there. Yes, it's not wrapped up,
- 3:38Speaker 4: and it's in the US. Yeah. But the whole nine
- 3:41Speaker 4: forty five to ten thing, I was like, I've got
- 3:43Speaker 4: until ten. I'll stop off at the newsagent on the
- 3:45Speaker 4: way and picked down to a card. He said, be
- 3:47Speaker 4: here at nine forty five.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Save your mate, So I'm no car, save your money.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Let's see what we've got here.
- 3:52Speaker 1: You probably already have this. I'll be surprised if you
- 3:53Speaker 1: didn't have it.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Oh my goodness, do you have it? I do not
- 3:58Speaker 4: have beautiful. This is Sybil and Bruce moonlighting madgic. This
- 4:04Speaker 4: is uh. The cover of this paperback says it is sexy, sizzling, sensational,
- 4:10Speaker 4: all of which have exclamation marks, the private lives of
- 4:12Speaker 4: TV's Hottest couple and the show that skyrocketed on the top. Dan, No,
- 4:15Speaker 4: that's very sweet.
- 4:16Speaker 1: And Bruce left your president in the front cover as well.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Holy do you this is this is one of the
- 4:27Speaker 4: and what you say, this is one of more than three.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Holy Molly, this is great.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I'm not. I appreciate the effort you put in to
- 4:35Speaker 1: help keep them for for your discant thing going, so
- 4:36Speaker 1: I thought i'd spoil you a bit.
- 4:37Speaker 4: Well, I thank you very much. This is lovely And.
- 4:40Speaker 1: This is the thing I was telling about. I'm like,
- 4:41Speaker 1: if I didn't buy it, only then mother can tell
- 4:43Speaker 1: them apart. I saw it and I was like, if
- 4:45Speaker 1: I don't buy it now, I have a financy end.
- 4:47Speaker 1: So I just bought it.
- 4:48Speaker 4: It was just online.
- 4:49Speaker 1: It was online, yeah, and someone that's popped up and
- 4:53Speaker 1: I was like, ah, well, I didn't pay as much
- 4:55Speaker 1: as that.
- 4:55Speaker 4: So, by the way, when I said only a mother
- 4:58Speaker 4: can tell them apart video, people will se that I'm
- 5:00Speaker 4: holding up the cover of me and Bruce Willis, who
- 5:02Speaker 4: are basically twins. Yes, yes, so no.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I remember you tell me once about a book that
- 5:10Speaker 1: was made on set of a show or a movie
- 5:12Speaker 1: or something in your I thought maybe it was this one.
- 5:14Speaker 1: You're like, they're making like a documentary series or something,
- 5:17Speaker 1: and then there was turmoil on set and they turned
- 5:18Speaker 1: it into a book and you said you'd read it.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Oh that was actually the movie The Bonvar of the Vanity.
- 5:23Speaker 1: It's the one. Yes, yes, yes, I'm like like that one.
- 5:27Speaker 1: I'll take the chance anyway. Okay, this is going to mess.
- 5:30Speaker 4: With the flow a little bit because I only have
- 5:33Speaker 4: one present to give Daniel, and that's gonna be two
- 5:35Speaker 4: for me, so it's gonna be all over the shop.
- 5:37Speaker 4: But oh wonderful. And look, I'm not going to reveal
- 5:39Speaker 4: the secret present, but let me just goes. We're talking
- 5:47Speaker 4: about things that you may already have. The cameras on Dano.
- 5:49Speaker 4: You'll see behind that so much, vinyl, vinyl, so much.
- 5:53Speaker 4: And then we're gonna add one more to them. And
- 5:55Speaker 4: you may already have.
- 5:56Speaker 1: This, but I do. It doesn't matter.
- 5:57Speaker 4: I can just swap it for something else. And I
- 5:59Speaker 4: threw out the receipt. I still have the receipt.
- 6:02Speaker 1: I've managed to return a vinyl once without a receipt
- 6:05Speaker 1: because I was I was able to prove when it
- 6:07Speaker 1: was purchased, and they looked up in their system like
- 6:09Speaker 1: what time of the day and what date, and they're like, yeah,
- 6:11Speaker 1: this okay, it's two precise.
- 6:12Speaker 4: I will be able to do this. Yeah with this
- 6:14Speaker 4: as well, because we were all leaving digital footprints all
- 6:17Speaker 4: over the place. And also you can just.

- 6:33Speaker 4: We're very friendly people, and I think we put our
- 6:35Speaker 4: quality product, quality content. I take the piss all the
- 6:38Speaker 4: time saying someone's a friend of the pod.
- 6:40Speaker 1: We would genuinely want you to be friends of our pod.
- 6:43Speaker 4: I think this pod can make more friends, and I
- 6:44Speaker 4: think this pod would be a good friend to have.

- 7:22Speaker 4: It's fantastic. Then my uncle.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Darren, he's the one who got me into it. He's
- 7:25Speaker 1: got this because he's got the original record right when
- 7:29Speaker 1: it was the first release and you sent away or
- 7:31Speaker 1: something and he had a poster. I told you about
- 7:32Speaker 1: that that I did that and I never got it.
- 7:34Speaker 1: He got it, and he's got framed in his hallway
- 7:36Speaker 1: the poster.
- 7:37Speaker 4: It's dope.
- 7:39Speaker 1: This is the poster? Is this opened up?
- 7:41Speaker 4: Yeah?

- 7:49Speaker 4: Much, so you're very well. Thank you for my lovely present.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Yours are kind of corner compeed to that one. I'll
- 7:54Speaker 1: give you both of yours, now give you both. So
- 7:56Speaker 1: this one's just more of a fun one.
- 8:01Speaker 4: Let's do a wacky one. I really, let's do a
- 8:04Speaker 4: wacky one. O Thiss magazine. Yes, hey, oh gone wild
- 8:09Speaker 4: with the Bruce.
- 8:10Speaker 1: It's a nineteen ninety Bruce Willis expose as Bruce All
- 8:14Speaker 1: the Time, Bruce nineteen ninety.
- 8:18Speaker 4: Deadline, Bruce Willis's Revenge on the Hacks. Here's the I
- 8:22Speaker 4: probably actually bought this when it first came out.
- 8:25Speaker 1: I thought you might have. Yeah, yes, because look at
- 8:28Speaker 1: that man's face.
- 8:28Speaker 4: So that man's face, Oh fantastic. That's there's gonna be
- 8:32Speaker 4: a wonderful throwback to nineteen ninety one. Just look at this.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Look at the ads inside of it. Yeah, smells like
- 8:37Speaker 1: nineteen ninety. Oh I think Bruce is on page fifty two.
- 8:41Speaker 1: I remember I had a little skim through.
- 8:43Speaker 4: Oh my goodness, this is making for great audio, me
- 8:46Speaker 4: flicking through the magazine and it's the Oh my god,
- 8:51Speaker 4: the great thing abou Vanity Fair is. You know, it's
- 8:54Speaker 4: a very much sort of a culture magazine. That's what
- 8:55Speaker 4: we are. What's happening in the zardgeist and popular culture
- 8:57Speaker 4: and all that. And but they have this little sect
- 9:00Speaker 4: stuff front with who's hot right now? And guess who's
- 9:02Speaker 4: hot right now? Vanilla eyes. Let me just read this
- 9:07Speaker 4: thing like the King of rock and roll, who he
- 9:09Speaker 4: resembles raps. Vanilla Ice is a white crooner who's made
- 9:12Speaker 4: it in a black medium. But there's a twenty two
- 9:14Speaker 4: year old survivor's men street streets rapping his color blab.
- 9:20Speaker 4: But if you're not from the streets, forget it because
- 9:22Speaker 4: it won't come out right. A national motocross champions as
- 9:25Speaker 4: he was fifteen, he almost lost the use of his
- 9:27Speaker 4: legs and accents. Then he died in a straight fight. Jesus,
- 9:30Speaker 4: I think he just got the ship kicked out of him.
- 9:32Speaker 4: Get out of here, white boy. Now he's hypnotic. Hit.
- 9:35Speaker 4: I SI's Baby is the first rap song to top
- 9:37Speaker 4: the pop charts and offers to sing an actor pouring in.
- 9:40Speaker 4: It's a real reversal fortune. Yeah, he made cool of
- 9:43Speaker 4: Ice and then he vanished. Fantastic. This is a wonderful gift.
- 9:49Speaker 4: You've put the evidence you've got. You know, you've scared
- 9:51Speaker 4: the internet and eBay and all this kind of stuff,
- 9:53Speaker 4: finding stuff that guy likes. I imagine this is going
- 9:55Speaker 4: to be a copy of the Return of Bruno, was
- 9:58Speaker 4: a solo album. This is very, very sweet.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Man.
- 10:02Speaker 4: I feel bad that I've sort of just got you
- 10:04Speaker 4: the one get you've already had.
- 10:06Speaker 1: No, I don't have this one though.
- 10:07Speaker 4: That's true.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I've been wanting to get this one.
- 10:09Speaker 4: It's a limited variant. But see what we got here
- 10:12Speaker 4: feels vinyl. It's a vinyl Dan loves given out vinyl.
- 10:18Speaker 4: I recognize those legs. It's moon Lighting. It's the soundtrack
- 10:23Speaker 4: album Pull of Great Jams. I mean, it's got the
- 10:27Speaker 4: moon Lighting theme by l Jiro. It's got good love
- 10:30Speaker 4: and perform both Bruce Willis. It's got limbo rock.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Which.
- 10:34Speaker 4: It's got Sibil Shepherd seeing Blue Moon's when a man
- 10:37Speaker 4: Loves a woman. A lot of great stuff. And look
- 10:39Speaker 4: at this great cover, because it is fantastic. What a
- 10:42Speaker 4: wonderful what a wonderful birthday this has turned out to be. Oh,
- 10:46Speaker 4: thank you very much, Brendan Dano. What a guy.
- 10:49Speaker 1: The thing clearly Bruce I got more the Bruce is loose.
- 10:55Speaker 1: I got up to the brim with Bruce juice. There's
- 10:59Speaker 1: a Bruce Willer's book coming out, and I was going
- 11:01Speaker 1: to get it for enough that it is probably alread
- 11:02Speaker 1: order away, was getting for free or whatever, because you
- 11:04Speaker 1: know you say you always get yet, yeah, I try
- 11:06Speaker 1: to get stuff. You've seen the Bruce the book that's
- 11:08Speaker 1: coming out, I have not. It come out in August,
- 11:10Speaker 1: so it's available now. I could have got avoid. I thought, Ah,
- 11:12Speaker 1: he'll probably already got it.
- 11:14Speaker 4: I'll take care of that. It's a wonderful gift.
- 11:16Speaker 1: We use the money to buy that book, then that's good.
- 11:18Speaker 4: Hoddy or keep a river made. Keep this is wonderful.
- 11:25Speaker 4: Thank you very much. Happy birthday to us.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Yes, happy birthday to everyone out there. Yes, indeed, and
- 11:30Speaker 1: if you'd like to wish us happy birthday everyone.
- 11:34Speaker 4: Now, I guess we should probably talk about Smoke on
- 11:36Speaker 4: the Daughter.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Yes, smoke on the Daughter. I didn't mind this episode.
- 11:39Speaker 4: I did not like this.
- 11:40Speaker 1: I didn't like it for what reasons.
- 11:41Speaker 4: It felt unfocused and again, the sort of assembled.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Cigarette second hand smoke clearly focused. That's true. The bug
- 11:50Speaker 1: is that brought me was the I thought you would
- 11:51Speaker 1: have enjoyed the idea of just the cigarettes being perceived
- 11:55Speaker 1: as like needy a necessity in life.
- 11:58Speaker 4: I've been off them for so long, but I got
- 11:59Speaker 4: to say one of my notes here is smoking ruled.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Smoking was so great. I've always I've always had it.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Did it rule more before everyone realized it's not good
- 12:08Speaker 1: for you? Oh no, we always knew it was bad
- 12:09Speaker 1: for it is okay, but not to the level or
- 12:11Speaker 1: you just didn't give a shit.
- 12:12Speaker 4: We just didn't give a ship.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I was young as reckless because everyone's well, we watch
- 12:16Speaker 1: a Madman and I'm like, how many cigarettes must this
- 12:18Speaker 1: show have gone through? They can't be real cigarettes. They
- 12:20Speaker 1: couldn't have made that.
- 12:21Speaker 4: I imagine that's got to be clob or Herbal cigarets.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Yes, they couldn't have made the cask smoke as often
- 12:25Speaker 1: as they did, because it's this constant smoking and instant
- 12:27Speaker 1: drinking Nicholas like drinking apple juice, and I'm like, it's
- 12:30Speaker 1: definitely not really like who.
- 12:33Speaker 4: When I was working as an extra on movies and
- 12:36Speaker 4: TV shows, there was one particular project where they needed
- 12:39Speaker 4: like an insert shot of someone butting a lit cigarette
- 12:43Speaker 4: and it had to be like a particular length of
- 12:46Speaker 4: cigarette for continuity.
- 12:48Speaker 5: Oh yeah, and yeah, I was like, yeah, I smoke,
- 12:53Speaker 5: just give them to being an old buy one up smokes,
- 12:55Speaker 5: I smoke but out and I ended up having to
- 12:58Speaker 5: smoke like five or six really in the space of
- 13:00Speaker 5: like a relatively sure periods.
- 13:03Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna sound so silly asking this, and
- 13:06Speaker 1: I don't care. If you light a cigarette right and
- 13:08Speaker 1: just leave it, will it go down or do you
- 13:10Speaker 1: have to actually puff it for it to go down.
- 13:12Speaker 4: No, it will go down, It'll go down slow.
- 13:14Speaker 1: That is what they need it done.
- 13:16Speaker 4: Now. Well, yeah, time is money.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Did they at least pay you for the secrets or
- 13:20Speaker 1: at least give you the free secretes? H?
- 13:22Speaker 4: No, I think I was just being a team player.
- 13:24Speaker 4: I was like, yeah, I'll do it. I want you
- 13:26Speaker 4: and I always do a shit for free. We really are,
- 13:29Speaker 4: we really are. But you got to take one for
- 13:34Speaker 4: the team something. Yes, Yeah, we got to smoke one
- 13:35Speaker 4: for the team at time. Yep. Look, I didn't dislike this,
- 13:39Speaker 4: but I was thinking about why I didn't. When I
- 13:42Speaker 4: said I didn't dislike I didn't hate this episode. It's
- 13:44Speaker 4: not Simpson Safari, but I was thinking about why didn't
- 13:47Speaker 4: this work for me? And it's like it's I think
- 13:50Speaker 4: it's got the problem that a lot of recent episode
- 13:52Speaker 4: Simpsons episodes have for me at least in that it's
- 13:55Speaker 4: got solid ideas and ideas that could either be explore
- 14:00Speaker 4: and the emotionality of them could be drawn out and
- 14:05Speaker 4: actually means something, or they.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Could they rarely get sort of an emotional payoff now
- 14:08Speaker 1: to yeah, or they could be made funny or both
- 14:11Speaker 1: in a perfect world.
- 14:13Speaker 4: We're seeing so much of Marge and like, ah, I
- 14:16Speaker 4: had so many dreams.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Yeah, once you got together shadow, it was like it
- 14:19Speaker 1: was almost like a making a mockery. If that wasn't
- 14:21Speaker 1: the shadow dreams and the disappointment closet.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Yeah, the shattered dreams and the disappointment closet. It's like,
- 14:25Speaker 4: oh man, yeah, you're right, it is making fun I
- 14:27Speaker 4: was like, maybe I was just feeling particularly sensitive this morning.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Too, I had dreams. It's also, you know, that's kind
- 14:33Speaker 1: of on you as well. You probably still could have
- 14:35Speaker 1: pursued this if you really wanted to. I understand you're
- 14:38Speaker 1: keeping the house together, yeah, but you still could have
- 14:41Speaker 1: tried at least. I know she's probably been broken down
- 14:44Speaker 1: over the years, but yeah, always fallen back in the
- 14:46Speaker 1: I had dreams once.
- 14:48Speaker 4: But even the central idea of one parent pushing their
- 14:53Speaker 4: dreams onto their child.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I like that story.
- 14:55Speaker 4: I like that idea and the other parent recognizing this
- 14:59Speaker 4: is not good the parent or the child.
- 15:01Speaker 1: But I wasn't over doing that with the Lisa and
- 15:03Speaker 1: the singing, and then she fired him as the coach.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Remember I remember that episode in the Idle episode. Yeah, certainly.
- 15:09Speaker 4: I just think that's a really interesting idea for the core,
- 15:11Speaker 4: and I think it's something you could make funny, but
- 15:14Speaker 4: I think it's also something that could buy the end
- 15:16Speaker 4: have a bit of emotional punch to it, because you know,
- 15:18Speaker 4: Home's got to realize. I want Marge to be happy
- 15:22Speaker 4: living her dream vicariously through Lisa is making. She's making
- 15:26Speaker 4: all these lovely cakes and all this kind of business.
- 15:28Speaker 4: At the same time, it's not healthy. It's not healthy
- 15:29Speaker 4: for her. It's not healthy for Lisa. But also I
- 15:33Speaker 4: want to do right by my daughter as well. It's
- 15:34Speaker 4: a bit of a conflict.
- 15:35Speaker 1: It was nice seeing Homer being the one in the
- 15:37Speaker 1: middle of the being the voice of reason or me
- 15:39Speaker 1: being notly he's the idiot.
- 15:41Speaker 4: Yeah, except they didn't really give him enough to do
- 15:43Speaker 4: to be the voice of reason.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Just besides him just catching her doing it essentially, So
- 15:50Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 15:50Speaker 4: I just felt like this episode had much like Marge yourself,
- 15:54Speaker 4: unfulfilled potential.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Yeah, well it's going to get that. I yes.
- 15:57Speaker 4: And also just the I guess up the Homer and
- 16:01Speaker 4: bart b plot.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Didn't like. Raccoons just didn't really add anything to mine. Okay,
- 16:06Speaker 1: I like the way it had one good gag. I
- 16:08Speaker 1: like the way it managed to intertwine into the two.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I feel like the whole raccoon breaking in and do
- 16:12Speaker 1: it still in the Cecarets and stuff would have been
- 16:15Speaker 1: a more memorable bit had it been like a season
- 16:17Speaker 1: eight episode, more people talking about with the time home
- 16:19Speaker 1: set the raccoons in to get the stuff. Although it
- 16:21Speaker 1: didn't really end all that funny.
- 16:23Speaker 4: No, and they sort of didn't build up enough. They
- 16:25Speaker 4: didn't build up enough of a relationship between Homer and
- 16:28Speaker 4: the raccoons. It needed one more scene or two more
- 16:30Speaker 4: well it needed to need.
- 16:31Speaker 1: To get because they stole of Homer's food, right, yes,
- 16:34Speaker 1: and then he tried to trap them and he trapped
- 16:36Speaker 1: himself by accident. I feel like I feel like he
- 16:39Speaker 1: needed they needed one more moment of them screwing him
- 16:41Speaker 1: over kind of thing.
- 16:42Speaker 4: That's exactly right. Yes, they needed.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Again, while we're about it, we had the yated road
- 16:48Speaker 1: Runner couch Gate. It should have been like that.
- 16:50Speaker 4: You should have been like that. And then you know,
- 16:51Speaker 4: you know what, we've got more in common than with it.
- 16:54Speaker 4: You and I are a lot more alike than we think. Look,
- 16:58Speaker 4: it's certainly full of stuff that some of it works,
- 17:03Speaker 4: some of it is on the verge of working, and
- 17:05Speaker 4: some of it's like, well, you just didn't do enough
- 17:06Speaker 4: with this. That's how I felt about it, anyway.
- 17:08Speaker 1: And I think that's sort of the mentality for a
- 17:10Speaker 1: lot of the recent episodes of The Simpsons as for
- 17:14Speaker 1: modern standards for what we've been reviewing. I like this
- 17:17Speaker 1: a lot, but if you're gonna compared to the divisionals,
- 17:19Speaker 1: clearly not as much time as been put into this. Yeah,
- 17:21Speaker 1: look it could well be and me problem in terms
- 17:24Speaker 1: of like I'm looking at this through everything should be
- 17:28Speaker 1: vintage golden era Simpson and it's just not. And it's
- 17:31Speaker 1: not even a Matt Someone said, he goes bye even
- 17:33Speaker 1: by this point I was talking to him, and this
- 17:34Speaker 1: made me not's the record, I don't know, but he's
- 17:36Speaker 1: like even by this time we knew the show wasn't
- 17:38Speaker 1: the show that it once was. We knew people weren't
- 17:40Speaker 1: watching the shows like they used to. We still loved
- 17:42Speaker 1: making the show and did it almost like as an
- 17:44Speaker 1: out of passion as opposed to you knowing that people
- 17:46Speaker 1: gave a shit.
- 17:47Speaker 4: You know, it's good that Matt says that I'm good.
- 17:51Speaker 4: I don't doubt that he felt it. But I don't
- 17:53Speaker 4: know that passion doesn't come through For some reason, it
- 17:56Speaker 4: doesn't feel like they've got this sense of wilder bandlike, well,
- 17:59Speaker 4: if no one's if people aren't watching it as much
- 18:02Speaker 4: as they used to, we can kind of run wild.
- 18:04Speaker 4: We've kind of got carte blanche. We're the Simpsons. We
- 18:06Speaker 4: can do what we please, and even if people don't
- 18:09Speaker 4: like it, we might attract people who are like, wow,
- 18:11Speaker 4: I didn't think they'd do that, or that's unusual, or
- 18:14Speaker 4: whereas this kind of feels it feels like a cover version.
- 18:18Speaker 4: It feels like we're playing the hits.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Well, I w either they didn't just make this an
- 18:21Speaker 1: anti smoking campaign either, Because you think she's about to
- 18:24Speaker 1: then she says, ballet the issue here, Like, ah, I
- 18:27Speaker 1: like that because if you have to just go on
- 18:28Speaker 1: smoking is bad, it's making his baby would have gone,
- 18:30Speaker 1: you're preaching Jimmy here.
- 18:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I get the film. For a second,
- 18:34Speaker 4: I thought, are they going to do that?
- 18:36Speaker 1: And they didn't, which is good. And they didn't because
- 18:38Speaker 1: they did it purely by Homo reacting in the way
- 18:39Speaker 1: which nine out of ten parents would react the same
- 18:42Speaker 1: way when she's eight. Of course, any parents sho should
- 18:45Speaker 1: be Not every parent would though, but every parent should
- 18:47Speaker 1: be reacting. You see, you eight, You're not trying to smoke?
- 18:49Speaker 4: What are you doing? Although if you're seeing smoking, it's like, well,
- 18:52Speaker 4: at least you're not vaping.
- 18:53Speaker 1: That's true. But also the issue of peat pressure as well.
- 18:57Speaker 1: It's not just smoking, it's just you know, there's there's
- 19:00Speaker 1: actually a lot of themes in this. There's the desire
- 19:03Speaker 1: to want to succeed and the lengths you'll go to
- 19:06Speaker 1: do so, so smoking whatnot, even if you know it's
- 19:08Speaker 1: bad for you. The pressures of having to make your
- 19:12Speaker 1: mom proud. So she's doing this also because she wants
- 19:14Speaker 1: to make March proud, even though Marge, you know, I
- 19:18Speaker 1: don't know. It's March's the villain here in this story.
- 19:20Speaker 1: She's kind of the villain, but not meaning to be
- 19:23Speaker 1: she's the reason of this story.
- 19:24Speaker 4: I imagine if you watched any episode of Dance Moms
- 19:27Speaker 4: or none of the dance moms are going to be thinking, well, no,
- 19:31Speaker 4: I just want my little old to succeed. I share,
- 19:34Speaker 4: I want my I want my daughter to be met
- 19:36Speaker 4: Naddie Ziegler or who else with Martha Somebody, wasn't it
- 19:40Speaker 4: Jojo Siwa? She want like a Dance Moms. I don't know,
- 19:43Speaker 4: you know that little girl who thinks that she's the
- 19:44Speaker 4: next Miley Cyrus.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Okay, I don't know. The hippen and the hop and
- 19:49Speaker 1: in the popping, I'm not into.
- 19:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think she would view herself with the villain.
- 19:54Speaker 4: I think she views herself as just a proud and
- 19:56Speaker 4: happy mother who has helped her daughter find her passion
- 20:00Speaker 4: in her direction, which is actually her own passion and direction. Yeah.
- 20:05Speaker 1: I also didn't mind the opening at with the book
- 20:08Speaker 1: launch right because I was like, I remember when this
- 20:10Speaker 1: was a thing. When he goes and you line up
- 20:11Speaker 1: and you'd be like, all fans are the same theme,
- 20:14Speaker 1: whether it be like a Star Wars launch or something.
- 20:16Speaker 1: It's like we don't know each other, but we all
- 20:18Speaker 1: connect because of this medium. It felt very of its time. Yeah,
- 20:22Speaker 1: I'm trying to recall the last time anything was that
- 20:24Speaker 1: sort of popular. I well, I last time I experienced
- 20:28Speaker 1: this would have been Force Awakens premiere because it was
- 20:32Speaker 1: first real felt like the first real Star Wars post.
- 20:35Speaker 1: So it's because it's going to have Mark Hamill and
- 20:37Speaker 1: or in it. Even he's in it flight ten seconds
- 20:39Speaker 1: Harrison fort Millenium will also pump rawlineing. I'll line up
- 20:42Speaker 1: for six hours to get my seat because it was
- 20:43Speaker 1: first in best dressed. That's the last time I remember
- 20:46Speaker 1: being at a gathering of a launch? Can you ever
- 20:48Speaker 1: last me into a launch? Not really a launch? I
- 20:51Speaker 1: mean I remember the feeling of going to see Avengers Endgame. Yeah,
- 20:55Speaker 1: I saw a you know, sort of a previous screening
- 20:57Speaker 1: of that at the Imax jam Hacked. Everyone's like, oh,
- 21:02Speaker 1: I was a huge but I still I could. I
- 21:04Speaker 1: can appreciate the excitement that was you knew it was
- 21:06Speaker 1: a culmination and there was a there were two feelings
- 21:10Speaker 1: that was like, oh looking forward to this and oh
- 21:12Speaker 1: I hope they pull it off. And when you get
- 21:14Speaker 1: to that final thing, particularly, this is the thing that
- 21:16Speaker 1: comes up on people replay this on Twitter and social
- 21:19Speaker 1: media all the time. Just the scene where spoilers for
- 21:24Speaker 1: endgame the click right, No, no, it's thoughts hammer flying
- 21:30Speaker 1: past theanos, who's holy.
- 21:33Speaker 4: Captain America's holding whatever I thought? I only thought, and
- 21:35Speaker 4: hold that he's got it and many he says Avengers Assembled,
- 21:37Speaker 4: which the whole thing's been leading up to, because I
- 21:39Speaker 4: think it was an age of ultron or civil War
- 21:41Speaker 4: or something ending with Captain America saying Avengers and he's like,
- 21:43Speaker 4: you got to say no, we're cutting the credits. Oh
- 21:45Speaker 4: come on. When all that happened, I mean, I'm a
- 21:49Speaker 4: jaded old fuck, and I was like, that's pretty cool.
- 21:52Speaker 4: I was like, yeah, man, you did it well done.
- 21:55Speaker 1: It was like it was fancy but also done in
- 21:57Speaker 1: a way that felt naturally. Yeah.
- 21:58Speaker 4: Oh yeah yeah.
- 21:58Speaker 1: I mean there's they tuned for hour of you guys
- 22:01Speaker 1: review of Avengures end games. Well, these half hearted fans, yes,
- 22:05Speaker 1: and there's like we know you guys have been we
- 22:08Speaker 1: know you've been waiting for this.
- 22:10Speaker 4: We we really want to do this right. And they
- 22:12Speaker 4: really did do it right. I mean, the Russo Brothers
- 22:14Speaker 4: catch a lot of flak, but when they get it right,
- 22:16Speaker 4: they get it right.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Yeah. But this year was so I remember also being
- 22:20Speaker 1: dragged to the launch of it would have been the
- 22:22Speaker 1: PlayStation three. Maybe they would have been the three. My
- 22:26Speaker 1: mate he lived in town. We would have been seventeen
- 22:28Speaker 1: is eighteen, So I stayed his place after school and
- 22:30Speaker 1: we went to the midnight launch of the new PlayStation
- 22:33Speaker 1: and there was just fucking people everywhere. That's great, I meant,
- 22:40Speaker 1: being like Westfield. No, no, it was it was market
- 22:42Speaker 1: Square because eb Games used to be in there, remember
- 22:44Speaker 1: I do. And the line was like out the door,
- 22:46Speaker 1: and I'm like, we' written market squares?
- 22:47Speaker 4: What I am the last time that Market Square had
- 22:50Speaker 4: a life? And yeah, I mean you see that nowadays
- 22:55Speaker 4: with people like lining up for the latest iPhone or
- 22:57Speaker 4: something like that. I must have been. I can't make
- 22:59Speaker 4: that cane in my brain's like really for.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Me, it's like, I guess, play stations technology, it's the
- 23:04Speaker 1: same thing. I guess.
- 23:05Speaker 4: It's like, well, yeah, but it's what it enables you
- 23:07Speaker 4: to do. And I guess, you know, I can say
- 23:08Speaker 4: the same thing about the phone, although what does it
- 23:10Speaker 4: enable you other than send text, make the tic TACs?
- 23:14Speaker 4: And you know, what's the other thing? Take fun as yourself?
- 23:18Speaker 1: What's the other thing you do with your phone.
- 23:21Speaker 4: I remember you just make calls on it anyway.
- 23:24Speaker 1: But yes, this is obviously your take off of the
- 23:26Speaker 1: Harry Potter books here. Oh definitely, jelic Button and jelackin
- 23:29Speaker 1: Button has almost become an yeah, because that's it was. Actually,
- 23:33Speaker 1: they're the books that Homer was red and he didn't
- 23:35Speaker 1: want to blow the engine. A lovely story. It was good.
- 23:38Speaker 4: I really liked that one.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Yeah, changed the ending to make her not feel sad.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Yeah. I do like when the Simpsons creates stuff that's
- 23:44Speaker 4: in canon, yeah, or not in cannon, but that has
- 23:47Speaker 4: a bit of continu yeah, and it becomes part of
- 23:49Speaker 4: the universe that is, like, we know this is Harry Potter,
- 23:52Speaker 4: but it's their version of it, and yeah, it makes
- 23:54Speaker 4: recurring appearances like that, like it's itching scratchy.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Yep.
- 23:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's great. I really like when, Yeah,
- 23:59Speaker 4: the Simpsons creates something that is part of the Springfield universe.
- 24:02Speaker 1: I thought this might have been a taken the mickey
- 24:04Speaker 1: of when it finished the book series Harry Potter, but no,
- 24:07Speaker 1: Harry Potter. Apparently the last one came out in two
- 24:08Speaker 1: thousand and seven. This is two thousand and four. Oh okay,
- 24:11Speaker 1: so they Oh, hey, when was when was this episode?
- 24:14Speaker 1: When did it come out?
- 24:14Speaker 3: Two?
- 24:15Speaker 1: Oh? Wait? Maybe it was?
- 24:16Speaker 4: Then someone wrote, I say, I felt like I feel
- 24:20Speaker 4: like we're in the mid to later two thousand.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Oh yeah, okay, no, but so I read it here.
- 24:26Speaker 1: The opening Angelica Button segment is a parody of the
- 24:28Speaker 1: fan fest Friend of Harry Potter series. It stated this
- 24:29Speaker 1: is the final Angelica Button book, whereas the final book
- 24:32Speaker 1: Harry Potter was released in two thousand and seven. I
- 24:34Speaker 1: thought that was implying it hadn't happened yet. It already happened. So, yeah,
- 24:37Speaker 1: it wasn't the mickey taken mickey of the final Book
- 24:39Speaker 1: of Harry Potter.
- 24:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:40Speaker 1: I never got caught up in the Harry Potter fanfare,
- 24:44Speaker 1: but I remember it being huge news and when that
- 24:48Speaker 1: it wasn't the last book. But when I won't spoil
- 24:51Speaker 1: it because you know whatever, But when that, I go
- 24:54Speaker 1: spoiler the endgame, when that death happens. Right, I remember
- 24:58Speaker 1: we had a couple of friends who were obsessed, sive
- 25:01Speaker 1: fans of Harry Potter, and a kid came to school
- 25:03Speaker 1: like read it before like school that day brought at
- 25:05Speaker 1: midnight read it overnight, came to school the next day
- 25:08Speaker 1: and walked into the classroom and just yelled at what happens,
- 25:10Speaker 1: and people cried, like people were genuinely crying. That was
- 25:14Speaker 1: so sad. Were people crying because spoiled? Yeah it was spoiled,
- 25:17Speaker 1: Yeah it would be. Yeah, they were like, it's heartbreaking.
- 25:21Speaker 1: I mean, and I got it. I thought that's a
- 25:25Speaker 1: terrible thing to do.
- 25:25Speaker 4: Yeah. Look, I'm prone to spoilers, as you will know.
- 25:28Speaker 4: When I tend to explain things, I tend to go
- 25:29Speaker 4: a little more in depth than I should. But I
- 25:32Speaker 4: don't think I've ever done anything that agreedious.
- 25:34Speaker 1: But he did it delivered to just and a geelong
- 25:36Speaker 1: DJ actually lost his job by saying it on the
- 25:39Speaker 1: radio as a passing comment. I should driving in the
- 25:44Speaker 1: car with mum and she was like dropping home from
- 25:45Speaker 1: my friend's place or whatever. And the guy was just like,
- 25:48Speaker 1: so what do you think about someone so dying? And
- 25:50Speaker 1: it just hits clickic we're weird technical difficulties to be
- 25:58Speaker 1: right back after this fascination.
- 26:00Speaker 4: Oh did yeah, just the worst kind of fan with
- 26:03Speaker 4: comic book guys saying oh, you've got this wrong and this.
- 26:05Speaker 1: One and he was wrong, which I like, and I
- 26:08Speaker 1: based it off of the books, not the movie.
- 26:10Speaker 4: Get Out of Here on your Broomstick my favorite.
- 26:14Speaker 1: What were your favorite moments from the episode?
- 26:16Speaker 4: All for smoking. I like Quimby. I like the late
- 26:20Speaker 4: appearance of Quimby.
- 26:21Speaker 1: That next gag was pretty that was a little yeah,
- 26:24Speaker 1: a little dark dark. I'm also been bury in keeping
- 26:28Speaker 1: Oh yeah. As soon as the cag you're like, oh okay.
- 26:31Speaker 1: As a kid, you wouldn't get that joke. As an
- 26:32Speaker 1: adult you're like, oh bye, yeah.
- 26:34Speaker 4: And for the generation X times, it's a nice shout
- 26:36Speaker 4: out to. I think it's Animal House, is it? There's
- 26:40Speaker 4: a bit in the last bit of National Lampoon's Animal House,
- 26:42Speaker 4: where you've got this twelve year old kid. I think
- 26:44Speaker 4: he's reading, like he's reading a girly maker some kind
- 26:46Speaker 4: maybe Playboy. Yeah, and there's all mayhem at the homecoming
- 26:50Speaker 4: float or whatever, and a cheerleader or a major atte
- 26:53Speaker 4: that sort of flung through the air and crashes through.
- 26:55Speaker 4: He's doing their lands on his bed and he looks
- 26:57Speaker 4: and says thank you God, which you know, back in
- 27:01Speaker 4: seventy nine we thought was hilarious. So yeah, I like that.
- 27:05Speaker 4: I mean, I was, yeah, I was happy to see Quimby.
- 27:09Speaker 1: I like Chaz Young. It reminded me of spirit Fingers
- 27:11Speaker 1: Guy from I know he's based on all that jazz,
- 27:13Speaker 1: but his Spirit Fingers Guy from bringing on sparky paletry
- 27:18Speaker 1: or sparky something. Yeah. Yeah, just I think everyone can.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Just when you when you bring it up, you think
- 27:24Speaker 1: of spirit fingers, Right, That's the thing you think of,
- 27:26Speaker 1: isn't it. I always remember just that opening I'm curted
- 27:30Speaker 1: every word to. It's just ingrained in my brain because
- 27:31Speaker 1: it was one of those movies that you just put
- 27:33Speaker 1: on all the time, and it was never released on
- 27:34Speaker 1: physical media. Here at that bog in my mind. I
- 27:36Speaker 1: had to get my mate to bring it over from
- 27:38Speaker 1: the States. When he came over, shout out to Matthew Blam.
- 27:40Speaker 1: But he's also he's recently bringing he coming back next week.
- 27:43Speaker 1: He's bringing the box set of the Shield, the box
- 27:45Speaker 1: set of the Office, and few the Little Good. It's
- 27:48Speaker 1: it too late for me to play an order, because
- 27:49Speaker 1: he was saying this, at least tomorrow, go to Walnut
- 27:53Speaker 1: get me this. Yeah, next time he comes twice a year,
- 27:56Speaker 1: so oh yes, I must have been.
- 27:58Speaker 4: I was looking on my Amazon wish list, which I
- 28:00Speaker 4: put in the show notes if anyone wants to get
- 28:01Speaker 4: us birthday pres Yeah, like.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Is this too much?
- 28:06Speaker 4: Look? Can I get this myself? Don't worry about it?
- 28:08Speaker 4: But that's very nice. At Matt's getting all this, I'm
- 28:10Speaker 4: pretty sure that he get bring it on DVD here.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Sorry not blue ray?
- 28:15Speaker 4: Really?
- 28:15Speaker 1: Yes, yes we had on DVD.
- 28:16Speaker 4: Yes, hello, mister fancy, that's so.
- 28:20Speaker 1: But you think bring it on. That's popular enough to
- 28:22Speaker 1: have a Bluetoo release.
- 28:23Speaker 4: You would think so when was released two thousand, two thousand,
- 28:26Speaker 4: so I know, maybe they're coming up with like a
- 28:28Speaker 4: twenty fifth anniversary settle.
- 28:30Speaker 1: So maybe, but a border of it. And Holly loves
- 28:32Speaker 1: it and then now she watches it the case you
- 28:34Speaker 1: can watch bigger and I'm like, yeah, sure, it's cheer
- 28:36Speaker 1: it is a bit of fun, and it's occasional like
- 28:38Speaker 1: they use the fag word, they use whore, bitch and
- 28:41Speaker 1: shit and I was like, huh, I don't remember all
- 28:44Speaker 1: these words in this movie.
- 28:46Speaker 4: Two thousands at different time, when a movie for I know,
- 28:49Speaker 4: not kids but young adults. Yeah, traffic and those kinds
- 28:53Speaker 4: of that kind of language. What an opening song though,
- 28:56Speaker 4: it's fantastic.
- 28:56Speaker 1: And whenever it's whenever Nichol says it's cold in here,
- 28:59Speaker 1: we both go they must be some tourists in the atmosphere.
- 29:02Speaker 4: It's lovely to have these private gags. I did like
- 29:05Speaker 4: Chaz Busby as well as he mentions a shout out
- 29:07Speaker 4: to all that Jazz. It's Chazz Roy Scheider playing Joe Gideon, based.
- 29:11Speaker 1: On who many fans may know, Roy Scheider as as
- 29:14Speaker 1: the sheep Brody from Jaws, which you know, we'd always
- 29:17Speaker 1: be Chief Brady.
- 29:18Speaker 4: We may be talking about that in some form or
- 29:20Speaker 4: another in the near future.
- 29:21Speaker 1: Or maybe doing your pilot based on that. Anyway, we
- 29:23Speaker 1: may be, we may be, who knows, we're not. Maybe
- 29:27Speaker 1: drinking our malts and Milo's.
- 29:33Speaker 4: Got no poker face. Yeah yeah, based on based on
- 29:39Speaker 4: The Light Well, written and directed by Bob Fossey, the
- 29:41Speaker 4: noted dancer and choreographer you see at the very end
- 29:44Speaker 4: of the Yeah.
- 29:46Speaker 1: I always remember, I've never seen All that Jazz the film,
- 29:49Speaker 1: but when they seen the start of All that Jazz
- 29:51Speaker 1: in Chicago, I was just mesmerized. I was like, you're
- 29:53Speaker 1: a pretty lady.
- 29:58Speaker 4: She certainly.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Legs are going for dad, legs that go all the wet,
- 30:02Speaker 1: like two thousand and three, you reckon. I think two
- 30:05Speaker 1: thousand and two was early tens, and I was like,
- 30:07Speaker 1: oh my, is a great movie. It's the music that
- 30:11Speaker 1: is unbelievable.
- 30:12Speaker 4: So I enjoyed that very much.
- 30:13Speaker 1: What did you enjoy So you touched on a couple
- 30:16Speaker 1: of mind But I also really enjoyed that. I can't
- 30:18Speaker 1: believe how easy it is in this country to get cigarettes. Yes, yes, anyway,
- 30:24Speaker 1: lets let's we're gonna move on because tis Nicol has
- 30:26Speaker 1: a meeting very very soon. That's true, and you've got
- 30:28Speaker 1: daddy duties to next question. You there eating the Beast.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Trivia time, Trivia time three. Guess how many questions over
- 30:36Speaker 1: two three feet you made your first one? Okay, the Angelica.
- 30:40Speaker 1: But button book that Lisa is holding up before they
- 30:43Speaker 1: go to the thing.
- 30:44Speaker 4: What's it's called?
- 30:46Speaker 1: Don't know what is it? It's the tea Cup of Terror,
- 30:48Speaker 1: tea cup of Terror. What are the first words of
- 30:50Speaker 1: the last book? Martin reads it?
- 30:52Speaker 4: Oh, something to do with the troll.
- 30:54Speaker 1: The dark Lord has summoned, you said, the wizard troll.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Well done you Well, we're speaking books. Flanders has a
- 31:01Speaker 1: hardy boys mystery that he is crushing all the goshes
- 31:03Speaker 1: and there falls out of It's the Hardy Boys and
- 31:06Speaker 1: the mystery of the Watts. I don't know the odd
- 31:08Speaker 1: shaped rock. Okay, well, my next question is in that
- 31:10Speaker 1: moment as well, because Homer says, I ate all your
- 31:12Speaker 1: what earthquake supplies? What will be an earth earthquake supply?
- 31:16Speaker 4: Just tin dude, bottled water and tin food. Imagine which
- 31:21Speaker 4: and which we all need for the upcoming climbate emergency. Yes,
- 31:24Speaker 4: which we're currently experiencing here in Jeelng. It's very windy.
- 31:27Speaker 1: It's like category three cyclumb which New Americans probably just
- 31:31Speaker 1: laugh at, but that's extreme for us.
- 31:33Speaker 4: I wrote about it on Facebook saying, oh, it woke
- 31:35Speaker 4: me up in the middle of that. I I was
- 31:37Speaker 4: scared that a brand the Wizard of O music plan
- 31:40Speaker 4: friends saying you've seen the movie Twister. I literally live
- 31:43Speaker 4: in Tornado Alley. Yes, sorry, guy, wakes up.
- 31:47Speaker 1: I'm not in Jela anymore.
- 31:52Speaker 4: I'm not in her nearly.
- 31:54Speaker 1: I'm having a stroke. Did you ask me super earthquake supply?
- 32:00Speaker 1: You did?
- 32:00Speaker 4: Indeed, Well, let me ask you one last question then,
- 32:02Speaker 4: what is Bart's luchador name?
- 32:05Speaker 1: Oh? Al Guabo? Yes? And my final question is what
- 32:10Speaker 1: is on Marge's T shirt as she's driving Lisa, and
- 32:14Speaker 1: she's clearly at a.
- 32:16Speaker 4: Was it ballet mom or proud balet Ballet mom? Ballet mom? Yea, yes,
- 32:20Speaker 4: she got the bumper stickers and everything.
- 32:21Speaker 1: I really said. I'm like when she's when's driving there,

- 34:50Speaker 1: the cymbals.
- 34:52Speaker 4: I like Billy Kimble on the keys.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Billy Kimble and the keys.
- 34:55Speaker 4: Isn't that a great way to be introducing in the band.
- 34:57Speaker 4: Got Billy Kimble on the keys?
- 35:01Speaker 1: No, just kid you, I'm jeep Billy Kimball and the
- 35:08Speaker 1: cash gag was the Wally Curtain, which I thought was
- 35:10Speaker 1: quite that.
- 35:10Speaker 4: Wasn't too man and appropriate for this this episode, as
- 35:14Speaker 4: you pointed out.
- 35:15Speaker 1: So kicked off of Homer and Lisa waking up Bart
- 35:17Speaker 1: for the launch of the Angelica Button book, the final
- 35:19Speaker 1: book in the series, The.
- 35:22Speaker 4: Denemon of Doom or something.
- 35:25Speaker 1: I'm not sure, I can't remember. Anyway, It's the book launch,
- 35:28Speaker 1: middle of the night, and I'm like, this is cool.
- 35:29Speaker 1: This takes me back and Butt said he's not going
- 35:31Speaker 1: to go with it. Of course he does. They dragging
- 35:33Speaker 1: him there and all the people.
- 35:34Speaker 4: Are dressed up and wearing his magic Isn't real t shirt?
- 35:37Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, just been that guy. It's the frame of
- 35:40Speaker 1: fo I wonder what happens.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Maybe Sandrux is an arcallops, I've read a rumored Spider
- 35:45Speaker 2: Man's in it.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Shut up, shut up. This is a spoiler free zone.
- 35:50Speaker 3: Angelica Button costume, Lisa, Oh, the griffin on your coat
- 35:54Speaker 3: of arms is fishing left, not right and f yi,
- 35:57Speaker 3: Angelica wears two tortoiseshell brets Troy them.
- 36:01Speaker 6: I based my costume on the book Snacked the movies.
- 36:05Speaker 1: I'm totally spoiler free zone. I would panic going to
- 36:10Speaker 1: a book launch knowing there's always that one girl. I
- 36:13Speaker 1: think guy that's at my school. Who just wants to
- 36:14Speaker 1: ruin someone's day and it's like home with the AMPI
- 36:17Speaker 1: strike back. But he didn't do it deliberately, they did.
- 36:19Speaker 4: He Oh no, no, he wondered.
- 36:23Speaker 1: I can't believe it. He was just so stunned by
- 36:26Speaker 1: the By the point, do you remember the feeling when
- 36:28Speaker 1: you first saw that? Were you stunned that that reveal
- 36:32Speaker 1: of Darth Vader?
- 36:34Speaker 4: It's pretty wild? Yeah, yeah, I remember. I think I've
- 36:37Speaker 4: told the story that you know. It was around my
- 36:39Speaker 4: birthday and the dad drove me and my best mate
- 36:42Speaker 4: j Peter Melbourne. We were the only people in the cinema.
- 36:45Speaker 4: It was like the first screening of the first day.
- 36:48Speaker 1: I thought cinemas were just always packed on first day
- 36:50Speaker 1: back then.
- 36:51Speaker 4: Well, this was movies in Australia open on Thursday, so
- 36:54Speaker 4: reputable people at work and this was sort of pre
- 36:57Speaker 4: the pre fanboy age strikes.
- 37:00Speaker 1: I think I was fan boys worth thing by that point.
- 37:02Speaker 4: Well, but they were probably like, I can wait till
- 37:03Speaker 4: Saturday night.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Okay, fair enough. Yeah, and it's not going to be
- 37:06Speaker 1: spoiled because there's no social media.
- 37:07Speaker 4: That's true, yea, yeah, you listen to that ten year
- 37:09Speaker 4: old boys that are running around, go it's dead. Imprisoned
- 37:16Speaker 4: that child? Uh, yeah, that was It was quite a thing. Yes,
- 37:21Speaker 4: I bought I told you, I bought a little action
- 37:24Speaker 4: figure and lost it in the side.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Tried to find that to buy a few years ago.
- 37:31Speaker 4: That brain always working.
- 37:33Speaker 1: But I have a vivid one more vivid memory before
- 37:36Speaker 1: we get into the review of first day screenings, And
- 37:39Speaker 1: it was the re release of ET the twentyth anniversary.
- 37:42Speaker 4: And I know why, but I was just like, I
- 37:44Speaker 4: think that movie is called ET the Extraterrestrial.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Yeah, the Extraterrestrial. Yes, that joke didn't really land. Sorry,
- 37:51Speaker 1: but I love because NaN's no longer here. But I
- 37:55Speaker 1: was just so excited to see it on to go
- 37:56Speaker 1: to the first release, the first screening, blah blah blah,
- 37:59Speaker 1: ten am. We got my ticket stub in my DVD
- 38:01Speaker 1: cover of it when it first came out the ten
- 38:04Speaker 1: am on the Thursday. And Nan, she did never ever drive,
- 38:07Speaker 1: never had a driver's license ever in her life. She
- 38:08Speaker 1: never drove.
- 38:09Speaker 4: But she came down, she drove it.
- 38:11Speaker 1: She came out. I took the day off school and
- 38:13Speaker 1: I was lent that day off school for it, and
- 38:15Speaker 1: Nan came down and we caught the bus into town
- 38:17Speaker 1: and we went and had some like we went and
- 38:18Speaker 1: got a drink somewhere, like a coffee or she had.
- 38:21Speaker 1: I think she got a coffee. I got a hot
- 38:22Speaker 1: chocolate whatever. Went to the movie ten am screening. We
- 38:24Speaker 1: were the only people in there. It was just like amazing.
- 38:28Speaker 1: I said, there's a great memory of just like gone
- 38:30Speaker 1: to see the et screen, the only ones there. I've said,
- 38:33Speaker 1: I'm the first person this stray to see it. And
- 38:36Speaker 1: it's yeah, there's nice memory. It was being on the
- 38:37Speaker 1: bus with Nan Sweet anyway, Sweet Combo guy points out
- 38:40Speaker 1: that the issues with Lisa's costume, as we said, but
- 38:42Speaker 1: she's based on the book, not the movies. And then
- 38:45Speaker 1: we've got the either working here. It comes out side there.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Everyone has to use a color bracelet. This ship would
- 38:49Speaker 1: never work.
- 38:49Speaker 4: Oh no, just let me in.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Yeah, reminds me of Jingle all the way with the
- 38:53Speaker 1: ball remember that the Keno balls wherever they are. And yeah,
- 38:57Speaker 1: not having that Nelson, it makes Martin read the the
- 39:00Speaker 1: book to him. In the particular voices on the way home,
- 39:02Speaker 1: Lisa's just skimming through the book. So didn't even read
- 39:04Speaker 1: the book. She just skimmed through it. Yeah, just not
- 39:07Speaker 1: really interested in the I think I just need to
- 39:09Speaker 1: note is everything all as well? Ah, that's it.
- 39:11Speaker 4: This, of course, is a Harry Potter kind of thing.
- 39:15Speaker 4: I get the feeling a lot of people aren't necessarily
- 39:17Speaker 4: reading the Harry Potter books. Even at that stage for
- 39:19Speaker 4: the Wonderful Prose thing was like, what happens, what happens
- 39:22Speaker 4: when it happens, what happens?
- 39:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I need to know so I can.
- 39:24Speaker 4: Yeah, if you can get the cliff notes or the
- 39:26Speaker 4: spark notes, as opposed to actually reading the whole book,
- 39:28Speaker 4: which were pretty thick by the end. I just want
- 39:30Speaker 4: to know what happens.
- 39:31Speaker 1: I sometimes do that with wrestling. Now, the wrestling's on,
- 39:33Speaker 1: I was like, skip Ski Skip he won, cool, skips Skip,
- 39:36Speaker 1: she went okay, cool. And then I'll go back and
- 39:38Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, that match was good. I'll go back
- 39:40Speaker 1: and movies and it later on. But I just I
- 39:41Speaker 1: just need to know who wins.
- 39:43Speaker 4: This is the year twenty twenty four. This is the
- 39:45Speaker 4: world that we've created for ourselves.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Yeah, so they get home and that's our book for
- 39:48Speaker 1: the year. Now it's time for TV.
- 39:50Speaker 4: I think we've earned some TV, some TV. Yes, this
- 39:53Speaker 4: is a nice thing to hear from you, from your
- 39:55Speaker 4: parent or authority figure. It's like we've earned it.
- 39:57Speaker 1: Yes, they're watching, I'm assuming CUSI with Caruso. Yeah right,
- 40:03Speaker 1: but but no, no you said yeah, I mean yeah,
- 40:07Speaker 1: but again playing up the spoilers. So Bart spoils his
- 40:09Speaker 1: for them. He trained his dog to do it. And
- 40:11Speaker 1: then there's entertainment tonight. Wink wink. The people have waking up.
- 40:19Speaker 1: What are you talking about? It'll all makes sense, it
- 40:21Speaker 1: will all makes sense. Lisa Kudro is the one who
- 40:24Speaker 1: is speaking out against adult literacy, and then stop saying things.
- 40:27Speaker 1: But that's TV's job. Then we got the news report
- 40:30Speaker 1: and the first lady is going to sit on the
- 40:31Speaker 1: egg until the hatches, and we get the ad for
- 40:33Speaker 1: Chaz Busby's Ballet Academy. Correct and reminds me of you know,
- 40:38Speaker 1: when I had dreams and whatever, and takes Lisa see
- 40:42Speaker 1: her shaded dreams box in the disappointment closet. She wanted
- 40:44Speaker 1: to be a doctor, a save cracker, and a steposcope.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Sound like I thought that was pretty good. Oh, that's
- 40:49Speaker 1: a good game. That felt vincage, didn't it.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Yeah, Ever since I was little it was a ballerina.
- 40:55Speaker 2: So it happened my bosoms came in and ruined my balance.
- 40:59Speaker 2: Really how it came in one at a time? Oh,
- 41:03Speaker 2: do you think mine at I'm pretty sure you'll have
- 41:06Speaker 2: your dance bulbs.
- 41:07Speaker 6: Huh, mom, it's not too late to unshadow your dream.
- 41:13Speaker 6: Mirtha Graham danced well into her seventies.
- 41:16Speaker 2: You mean she danced well into her seventies, or she
- 41:19Speaker 2: danced well into her seventies.
- 41:21Speaker 6: Well, she danced into her seventies.
- 41:23Speaker 2: I think you've got a point, Hollie. I'm gonna be
- 41:26Speaker 2: a dancer.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Go go, we're boring, boring? Oh Art this that Martha Graham?
- 41:33Speaker 1: Was it well into the seventies, well.
- 41:35Speaker 4: Well into she dance well into a seventies. English, it's a.
- 41:40Speaker 1: She danced into a seventies.
- 41:41Speaker 4: It's a fun language, full of complication.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Ali's just obviously starting to learn the English language, and
- 41:46Speaker 1: he goes, so, why is this one spelt like this?
- 41:48Speaker 1: And this one's spelt like this? But they're the same
- 41:49Speaker 1: way about different meanings. And I'm white kid, It doesn't
- 41:51Speaker 1: make any sense.
- 41:52Speaker 4: Did I invent the language? Yeah?
- 41:53Speaker 1: That just doesn't make sense.
- 41:55Speaker 4: When something like that happens, You've just got to pull
- 41:56Speaker 4: a Carl Res and say I didn't build the fuck anything.
- 41:58Speaker 1: He goes, what is what does C and K sound
- 42:01Speaker 1: the same? I'm like, kid, I just don't. I don't
- 42:03Speaker 1: get it.
- 42:03Speaker 4: Crare the alphabet, I just use it.
- 42:06Speaker 1: So they arrive at the Ballet Academy. It's next to
- 42:08Speaker 1: the Opera Academy, which is nice that has the music.
- 42:10Speaker 4: Yes and yes. There's a gag that we probably can't
- 42:13Speaker 4: say the three words that are on the window. We
- 42:15Speaker 4: could say it. I'm gonna say it, no fair.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Checks, Yes, do I endorse this?
- 42:19Speaker 5: No.
- 42:20Speaker 1: It reminds me of the song from The Simpsons color
- 42:23Speaker 1: Fagialistic no Fat Chicks, which.
- 42:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm sorry, that's an imperially funny gag, but it's
- 42:31Speaker 4: a home speak. He's a terrible person. We did a
- 42:35Speaker 4: TV launch boy the other day.
- 42:36Speaker 1: On the o C oh Yes and welcome to the
- 42:39Speaker 1: OLC bitch.
- 42:40Speaker 4: Yeah. The character who says that line, Luke. He's the
- 42:43Speaker 4: architect of Jock, bad Boyfriend, bad dude in general. He's
- 42:47Speaker 4: the one who's saying things like, you know, welcome to
- 42:49Speaker 4: the o CE, bitch and suck it queer to Seth
- 42:50Speaker 4: Cohen that won't stand like, I'm sure we're going to
- 42:54Speaker 4: have cocky blue not since you were saying, do you sure?
- 42:57Speaker 4: Say some things we tell the bad guy's saying the
- 43:00Speaker 4: person you.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Heal face.
- 43:05Speaker 4: Learn the difference a hell and a baby face. Pretty simple. Anyway,
- 43:10Speaker 4: That's enough of me saying there should be no and.
- 43:13Speaker 1: Then turns out the heels the one that's saving less
- 43:14Speaker 1: from doing the heel ship by smoking correct.
- 43:21Speaker 4: Maybe shouldn't have started this line of a line of thought.
- 43:25Speaker 1: Check out TV lunch Pot launch Pot. We talked about
- 43:28Speaker 1: the OC By the time you listen to this, the
- 43:29Speaker 1: O C will be out maybe either last week or tomorrow,
- 43:31Speaker 1: depending on this.
- 43:32Speaker 4: We've talked about some great shows. We're going to continue
- 43:34Speaker 4: to talk about other grades.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Cheers Fraser with the last reason ones we did and
- 43:38Speaker 1: really good Yes. Check it out TV launch Pot linked
- 43:40Speaker 1: in the description of this of this podcast. So yes,
- 43:42Speaker 1: So they've arrived at the at the Ballerina.
- 43:45Speaker 3: I haven't seen dancing like that since my Broadway show
- 43:47Speaker 3: Dancing like that closed to the week. Too smart for
- 43:50Speaker 3: the cord door crowd, too dumb for the Blagel Budge.
- 43:52Speaker 4: Keep it up, kid, you got something.
- 43:55Speaker 1: They did this Jake gag quite a bit. Now, is
- 43:57Speaker 1: this something from all that jazz? I don't think it
- 43:59Speaker 1: is that since that play that is like.
- 44:01Speaker 4: That which had a great line that I really would
- 44:06Speaker 4: just closing five days. Too smart for the corn dog crowd,
- 44:09Speaker 4: too dumb for the bagel bunch. It really is hard
- 44:12Speaker 4: to sort of strike that nice middle bounce. It's like,
- 44:15Speaker 4: I don't get it. We're like, no, I get it.
- 44:18Speaker 4: I don't like it.
- 44:19Speaker 1: So Homer shows but because they're both at home his
- 44:22Speaker 1: secret area. You know what I'm doing here? Gay out
- 44:27Speaker 1: a gay Joe. There's your quota. But no, he's he's
- 44:30Speaker 1: marinetting beef in here, beef jerky, so gay stuff. Yes,
- 44:33Speaker 1: he's doing beefjer The queen of all jerkys is beef jerky. Yes,
- 44:37Speaker 1: and bar It's like, oh my god, I can't believe this.
- 44:40Speaker 1: He's like he's looking up to home and now Marge's
- 44:42Speaker 1: leg she's dancing as well.
- 44:45Speaker 4: Do you enjoy jerky?
- 44:46Speaker 1: I don't think I've ever eaten jerky in my life.
- 44:48Speaker 4: I don't mind it.
- 44:48Speaker 1: Okay, it's just really chewy, right, Yeah, it just smoked beef,
- 44:52Speaker 1: right it is. Yeah, I was Schumer.
- 44:53Speaker 4: I'd like it.
- 44:54Speaker 1: I think I did taste it once and I thought
- 44:57Speaker 1: it's fine. But yeah, it can be a text. I
- 44:59Speaker 1: prefer a tender falling off the bellm beef.
- 45:02Speaker 4: That's true.
- 45:03Speaker 1: Who does not but Marge's leg. She's dancing because Lisa's
- 45:06Speaker 1: not dancing yet it's Marge. Her leg won't go down,
- 45:08Speaker 1: so she gets sent home. But Lisa, meanwhile, she has
- 45:10Speaker 1: perfect posture stance. This is how I always stand when
- 45:13Speaker 1: I'm angry at somebody. And she gets invited and Marge
- 45:15Speaker 1: accepts for her, which is setting up the story. Indeed,
- 45:18Speaker 1: so Marge is going to live vicariously through Lisa. Lisa
- 45:21Speaker 1: then falls over. She know she's not very good. I'm
- 45:24Speaker 1: just confused. You can't be confused until you want six tone.
- 45:26Speaker 1: He's gone to rehab, marriage of plastic surgeon, retired, unretired,
- 45:28Speaker 1: and then done a special little show called Woman of
- 45:31Speaker 1: the Year. So what it is that sounds about right,
- 45:33Speaker 1: something like that. But he sends them all out to
- 45:37Speaker 1: take a break, and this is where Lisa comes across
- 45:39Speaker 1: all the girls smoking yes yes to stay skinny in focused.
- 45:42Speaker 4: This sounds like it's very much an homage or a
- 45:45Speaker 4: tribute to Center Stage, which apparently is very big among
- 45:48Speaker 4: young millennial women. Do you know that movie is Center Stage?
- 45:50Speaker 6: No?
- 45:51Speaker 4: No, it's about young ballet dancers in New York, Zoe Soldana.
- 45:55Speaker 4: Isn't it from the aforementioned Avengers?
- 45:57Speaker 1: Is it the modern day Bring It On?
- 46:01Speaker 4: I don't know. I was around the same.
- 46:02Speaker 1: Bring It On was massive when it came out. It
- 46:04Speaker 1: was massive.
- 46:04Speaker 4: Yeah, it had It had many sequels, which is none
- 46:08Speaker 4: of us saw. Not really. No, I don't think Center
- 46:12Speaker 4: Stage is. They're different movies, of course, but I think
- 46:15Speaker 4: they appeal to a similar audience. You've got a lot
- 46:18Speaker 4: of young women who are now sort of older women,
- 46:20Speaker 4: like it was a good movie in a stage and
- 46:22Speaker 4: all the ballet dancers are out smoking.
- 46:24Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and yeah. That's basically they're saying here, is
- 46:26Speaker 1: that in order to there's the expectation that they have
- 46:28Speaker 1: to live up to. In order to do that, they
- 46:30Speaker 1: have to smoke. That's their that's their vice. If God
- 46:33Speaker 1: didn't want us to smoke, and then how came I
- 46:34Speaker 1: can do with this? And she uses her toes to
- 46:36Speaker 1: open up the cigarettes and has a has a smoke.
- 46:38Speaker 1: Lisa them breathe in the fresh air, which is all
- 46:40Speaker 1: the secondhand smoke, and she realizes, Oh, now she's getting
- 46:43Speaker 1: better at dancing as a result. I'm not sure is
- 46:45Speaker 1: that just helping her focus? Is that what it is?
- 46:46Speaker 1: Is that what they're trying to say.
- 46:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I've got no idea. I mean, I think you know,
- 46:49Speaker 4: dancers smoke because it's an appetite suppressant. Yes, I don't
- 46:53Speaker 4: think it's got anything to do with focus. No, I
- 46:54Speaker 4: think they wanted focus.
- 46:56Speaker 1: That's the joke here. Yes, yeah, that they're just brainwashing
- 46:58Speaker 1: into thinking that they cause them to sticks, and an't
- 47:00Speaker 1: they cancer sticks? So now Homer is showing a poo
- 47:04Speaker 1: He's jecatorium, which didn't really go anywhere. This not really
- 47:07Speaker 1: just as excuse to bring up poo in that and
- 47:10Speaker 1: to sort of I guess, because you could have just
- 47:12Speaker 1: had Hamer and butt walking and it's all gone. I
- 47:13Speaker 1: didn't have to be showing anybody did. And then you
- 47:15Speaker 1: could have another scene that the the ballet school. You
- 47:18Speaker 1: could have some more Chaz Busby. Instead, you got a
- 47:20Speaker 1: little time in the jerkatorium. You could have made this going.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Homer blame his bart because I'd never showed anybody this.
- 47:26Speaker 1: I show you and now it's missing. What have you
- 47:28Speaker 1: done with my Joki and then Bart realized it's the raccoons.
- 47:31Speaker 1: It's the raccoons. I tell you, the raccoons.
- 47:33Speaker 4: You fix it down.
- 47:36Speaker 1: But he's made a very powerless enemy. They tried to
- 47:38Speaker 1: show them PowerPoint presentation. He does not thank them, and
- 47:41Speaker 1: he will not come again. Maybe that's the only reason
- 47:43Speaker 1: they wanted to do it, to make that gag. I
- 47:44Speaker 1: think that's I will not come again anyway, So they
- 47:48Speaker 1: realized that the dude, the dude, the door has been
- 47:50Speaker 1: chewed and there's poor prints everywhere. So he immediately blames Slanders,
- 47:53Speaker 1: who's actually been spending the morning blocking out Gusha's and
- 47:55Speaker 1: Dance and the Hardy Boy books. And then Bart notices
- 47:58Speaker 1: it's raccoons. Raccoons. Meanwhile, Lisa's having the dream here about
- 48:03Speaker 1: her future self and smoking in all of her feminist heroes,
- 48:06Speaker 1: they're all smokers as well.
- 48:10Speaker 6: Lisa, Lisa Simpson, time for a smoke. Look, everyone knows
- 48:18Speaker 6: his cigarettes are where Flavor lives in a cool choice
- 48:20Speaker 6: for a hot night. But therefore, losers, losers, you mean
- 48:25Speaker 6: losers life, Simone de Beauvoir, Margaret Mead, Queen Elizabeth the
- 48:30Speaker 6: First Lauren bcall.
- 48:32Speaker 4: My feminist heroes don't forget me, Lillian Hellman. Smoking gave
- 48:38Speaker 4: me the energy I needed to write plays and invent mayonnaise.
- 48:41Speaker 4: Bring out the Helmans and bring out the best with us,
- 48:47Speaker 4: with us.
- 48:51Speaker 1: Meanwhile, Button Homer trying to track the raccoons. Unfortunately he's
- 48:55Speaker 1: He thought he'd cover them in slipping pills the jerky,
- 48:58Speaker 1: but he covered his own ones some pills. He starts,
- 49:01Speaker 1: he gets it the best weapon to operate whilst your drug,
- 49:03Speaker 1: which is a crossbow and nothing really doesn't really go anywhere.
- 49:07Speaker 1: The only shoots a crossbow, but it doesn't hit anything.
- 49:10Speaker 1: He just shoots into the air and then the target
- 49:11Speaker 1: truck crashes. Yes, the only reason they have this was
- 49:14Speaker 1: to have the various things aim at.
- 49:16Speaker 4: Yeah, but really just the archery target truck go by. Yeah,
- 49:20Speaker 4: I think that's the only reason he had it.
- 49:21Speaker 1: Yeah. Margin is then driving Lisa to class. She clearly buzzed.
- 49:25Speaker 1: You know, she's got the stickers like dance in the Wings. Yeah, yep, clearly,
- 49:29Speaker 1: margines she's obsessed now, and she's even referring to Lisa
- 49:32Speaker 1: as herself Lisa the March Girl, the dancing March Girl.
- 49:36Speaker 1: But meanwhile says, you know, because home is going to
- 49:38Speaker 1: start a war with these records. You always lose these
- 49:41Speaker 1: war with animals. Remember that War of the Worms. It
- 49:43Speaker 1: was a phase withdraw and they made him build the
- 49:46Speaker 1: build the statue.
- 49:47Speaker 4: Worms are better than you.
- 49:48Speaker 1: Yes, parably. A video game franchise called like Worms or
- 49:52Speaker 1: like a War of the Worms or something like where
- 49:54Speaker 1: you shoot worms. I never played it, but probably there's
- 49:56Speaker 1: like a million versions of it.
- 49:58Speaker 4: It's not Earthworm Gym.
- 50:00Speaker 1: I know that's a TV show. No, okay, So it's
- 50:02Speaker 1: like worms video game war. Yeah, well it's just called worms.
- 50:10Speaker 1: It's just like worms and Worms, Battlegrounds, Worms, Ultimate Mayhem, Worms,
- 50:15Speaker 1: Rumble Worms, Clan Wars. Worms. Again, it's dating all the
- 50:18Speaker 1: way back to the nineties.
- 50:19Speaker 4: Just keeps saying worms.
- 50:20Speaker 1: Worms. The first Worms game came out in nineteen twenty five,
- 50:23Speaker 1: So Worms one more time. Worms. Thanks Worms, Worms. It's
- 50:26Speaker 1: just what would be funny killing each other? Worms apparent
- 50:30Speaker 1: there's a big success, many many games. Who would have thought,
- 50:33Speaker 1: but not me?
- 50:34Speaker 5: No.
- 50:35Speaker 1: So this is where Homer finds the raccoons and realizes
- 50:38Speaker 1: that they share his ideas on parenting and they're all
- 50:40Speaker 1: like his family. Ah, that's so different you and I. Yes,
- 50:44Speaker 1: time for the next ballet class. Is it the ballet class.
- 50:48Speaker 4: Yere or is it Yeah, it's a rehearsal or yeah,
- 50:51Speaker 4: not the grosser, just a class. Yes. And Lisa is
- 50:54Speaker 4: out and can't get in a secondhand smoke, like she's
- 50:57Speaker 4: gonna have to have try first.
- 50:58Speaker 1: I says that the break is when the big cigarette's nine,
- 51:01Speaker 1: So the cigarettes in the brain, that's what I'm like.
- 51:03Speaker 1: My second Sea says, next ballet break, big cigarette hits nine.
- 51:06Speaker 1: I'm like, that doesn't make sense. Brendan.
- 51:09Speaker 4: You can't make your notes too cryptic for yourself. You're
- 51:13Speaker 4: the one on the drivers.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Yeah, but Lisa's trying to secondsmoke, as he said, but
- 51:16Speaker 1: it's two windy. She can't get it. And then she
- 51:18Speaker 1: notices the.
- 51:18Speaker 4: One on the ground, so she's gonna have to go
- 51:19Speaker 4: for the first tance.
- 51:21Speaker 1: Yes, and herma catches her and shoots it, and thank
- 51:23Speaker 1: god it's it can't be how easy it is to
- 51:25Speaker 1: get a cigarette. And in this country. We come back
- 51:28Speaker 1: from commercial and they arrive home. Marge's making a cake.
- 51:30Speaker 1: She's so fulfilled as a mother and as a fan
- 51:32Speaker 1: of ballet, and it's a big ass cake, it is. Yeah,
- 51:35Speaker 1: Homer's torn though he goes, do I have to stop
- 51:36Speaker 1: my daughter from smoking, which will make my wife sad?
- 51:39Speaker 1: What do I do here? He doesn't really know what
- 51:40Speaker 1: to do. Motherhood hurts my brain, and you won't help. Bart,
- 51:44Speaker 1: who's being struggled by Maggie, then says to Lisa, you
- 51:47Speaker 1: must stop smoking. You know you can't keep doing It's
- 51:49Speaker 1: not good for your health. She says it's gonna be
- 51:51Speaker 1: hard before I recital, and he says, I'm gonna get
- 51:53Speaker 1: Bart to watch over. You thought you would have liked
- 51:55Speaker 1: this moment coming out with Bart coming out of the Oh.
- 51:57Speaker 4: Yeah, the apocalypse. Now, yeah, tribute out of the water.
- 52:00Speaker 1: We'll get that in a second. So it's dressed rehearsal
- 52:02Speaker 1: time for Sleeping Beauty. That's what they're doing. I thought
- 52:04Speaker 1: it would have come up with like a clever name,
- 52:05Speaker 1: but it's not. It's just it's just sleeping beauty.
- 52:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:08Speaker 1: Anyway, So she hits the guy's nose. You know, I
- 52:11Speaker 1: haven't fully paid for it yet, and last of my
- 52:13Speaker 1: checked that it's just Oh, I actually like this. Last
- 52:15Speaker 1: time I checked, it's not World wid wrestling, and I
- 52:17Speaker 1: checked five minutes ago. So at least of here, she's
- 52:21Speaker 1: trying to avoid this the smoke because they're all outside smoke.
- 52:23Speaker 1: And she's like, I promised Dad, I wouldn't do it.
- 52:25Speaker 1: What can I do? And then they say they say
- 52:28Speaker 1: to her like the guilt trip. If you don't take this,
- 52:30Speaker 1: it might go into a baby. And this is where
- 52:32Speaker 1: q Bart comes out of the dirty leg warmers, much
- 52:35Speaker 1: like much like Apocalypse. Now, yeah, who does it in
- 52:38Speaker 1: the fild it's Martin Machine, I believe, out of the
- 52:40Speaker 1: water to kill the colonel, to kill Kendl Kurtz.
- 52:43Speaker 4: Yes, terminating with extreme prejudice while you hear the strains
- 52:47Speaker 4: of the end by the doors.
- 52:48Speaker 1: And that's the same scene where you see a buffalo
- 52:52Speaker 1: be slaughtered, right you do? Yeah, yeah, I was not
- 52:55Speaker 1: impressed with that.
- 52:56Speaker 4: I was just like.
- 52:58Speaker 1: I just started. I was like, oh, that things being
- 53:00Speaker 1: massacred to death. Yeah, it's just real footage.
- 53:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 53:04Speaker 1: Do you know that that is filmed a tribe doing it.
- 53:06Speaker 4: I'm aware. Yeah, they did things differently in the nineteen seventies. Yeah,
- 53:09Speaker 4: I was, which I mean for real, I don't think
- 53:12Speaker 4: you could do that now? Oh no, absolutely not. Can't
- 53:14Speaker 4: do anything.
- 53:16Speaker 1: Even talk about that. That's offensive now offen the people
- 53:20Speaker 1: talk about that.
- 53:22Speaker 4: You make a friend of his picture cans with that guy, David?

- 53:56Speaker 1: a description of this podcast. Bark calls Homer and he says,
- 54:02Speaker 1: meet me in the place that that be planned five
- 54:04Speaker 1: minutes until the recital starts.
- 54:05Speaker 4: What is that wrong number?
- 54:07Speaker 1: Yes, it's time for Operation Crazy Plan, which is putting
- 54:10Speaker 1: the raccoon into still the cegarets. But first of all,
- 54:12Speaker 1: he puts the mask on.
- 54:13Speaker 4: That's a good gag. That's pretty funny. That's some good stuff.
- 54:16Speaker 1: And feel that I feel bad that I sort of
- 54:18Speaker 1: sledge it. You know what I liked about it too?
- 54:21Speaker 1: They didn't have Barko Dad. It's just they just left it.
- 54:25Speaker 1: It's like, that's the joke.
- 54:26Speaker 4: Yeah, don't explain everything to it.
- 54:28Speaker 1: We get that, we get the joke.
- 54:29Speaker 4: We're not smart people, but sometimes we're we're not dumb people.
- 54:32Speaker 1: The joke for those who may have watched the episode
- 54:34Speaker 1: is that Homer puts on a mask too so he
- 54:36Speaker 1: can't be seen by security cameras, and it's just black
- 54:38Speaker 1: like a raccoon.
- 54:39Speaker 4: Yeah you can't.
- 54:39Speaker 1: It's no different except he's a little thing around his head,
- 54:43Speaker 1: which I thought was kind of cute. But he's still
- 54:45Speaker 1: the cigarettes, not the keys, and gets out the money. Yes,
- 54:48Speaker 1: that's what I mean, a nice fat a cash that
- 54:51Speaker 1: was yeah. Yeah, and then he throws all the secrets
- 54:53Speaker 1: to Quimby and thank god, and she says, I can't
- 54:57Speaker 1: I'm pregnant because in bed with his mistress, and he
- 55:00Speaker 1: says one more favor, one more favor, gad. I was like,
- 55:02Speaker 1: oh shit, first act is now over. Lenny and Carla
- 55:07Speaker 1: very impressed. Lenny says the hope sleeping Beauty never wakes up,
- 55:09Speaker 1: and the girls realize that all their cigarettes to go,
- 55:11Speaker 1: and they're all panicking and they're just trying to one smokes.
- 55:14Speaker 4: Finger get they're fixed anyway.
- 55:16Speaker 1: They yeah, and they're no good at dancing now, and
- 55:18Speaker 1: they're fighting that there's there's no smoking. Someone in the
- 55:21Speaker 1: wall strives to smoke that they freak out because their
- 55:24Speaker 1: appetite is coming back, Oh my god. And that's you're saying.
- 55:26Speaker 1: That's what that's where it stems from smoking to replace food.
- 55:29Speaker 1: And it's just as they've been brainwashed to think, I
- 55:31Speaker 1: can only dance good if I don't if I smoke.
- 55:34Speaker 4: That's the anytime. Yeah, basically, anytime anyone quits smoking, it's
- 55:37Speaker 4: when they start to pilot on a little bit. Yeah,
- 55:40Speaker 4: that's what happened to me.
- 55:42Speaker 1: Happen to Matthew Perry, right, I imagine so, yeah, because
- 55:47Speaker 1: it's like, hey, it's skinny Chandler, it's unhealthy Chandler, it's
- 55:50Speaker 1: fat Chandler.
- 55:52Speaker 4: Yeah. It's like, if I've got to go to that
- 55:53Speaker 4: means I've I've put on a bit of weight, which
- 55:55Speaker 4: means I've been drinking. If I'm if I don't, if
- 55:57Speaker 4: you go to you, it means I'm on pills, which
- 55:58Speaker 4: means I'm skinny. A lot of things happened to Matthew Perry.
- 56:01Speaker 4: Rip Matthew, I haven't seen crap like this. This is
- 56:05Speaker 4: my Broadway show. Crap like this, right for five years.
- 56:08Speaker 1: Listen than rants about the ballet. You think she gotta
- 56:10Speaker 1: rand about smoking, but no, she's ranking about the ballet.
- 56:12Speaker 1: It's unnatural and it's unfair to women. I'll smoke to that,
- 56:15Speaker 1: as Patty and Selmer say, Then Chaz leaves. Now is
- 56:18Speaker 1: the dance he's doing, It's spiritfingus dance.
- 56:20Speaker 4: But is that is that basically the Fossy move? It's
- 56:23Speaker 4: the Bob Fossy move.
- 56:24Speaker 1: Okay, that's all kind of very with the music. He's
- 56:27Speaker 1: dancing onto the bus and he leaves. The family all
- 56:29Speaker 1: aating ice cream after one of their favorite times, which
- 56:31Speaker 1: is well, this is one of their favorite pastimes eating

- 56:58Speaker 1: ligitors just doing big moves. No, no, yeah, no, soap
- 57:01Speaker 1: opera sort of story. They pretty much like I mean,
- 57:03Speaker 1: all wrestling's all the same. They all sort of set
- 57:05Speaker 1: each other up for the next move whatever they get
- 57:06Speaker 1: to the right spot. But it's very much Mexican wrestling.
- 57:09Speaker 1: I'll just stand here and go. It's like acrobatics.
- 57:13Speaker 4: Yes, this big gentleman in the mask is going to

- 57:36Speaker 4: end going nextally not bad. Sometimes you've just got to
- 57:39Speaker 4: sit down with your pal Dando and go through it
- 57:41Speaker 4: and realize, hmmm, maybe not the some of its parts,
- 57:44Speaker 4: but the parts just.

- 58:28Speaker 4: before we do that, miss Davis, what do you learn
- 58:30Speaker 4: from the episode? What did I learn from the episode
- 58:32Speaker 4: that I think I've learned some TV?
- 58:35Speaker 1: Yes, how good it is coming home? No one else
- 58:38Speaker 1: in the house and it's putting on your program?
- 58:40Speaker 4: What did I watch?
- 58:41Speaker 3: This?
- 58:41Speaker 4: Kind of like a soap opera?
- 58:43Speaker 1: More kids, We used to watch the show called Passions
- 58:45Speaker 1: had or Tommy or whatever, I'll tell you what.
- 58:49Speaker 4: And it actually was designed as a soap proper in
- 58:51Speaker 4: a lot of ways that will be in a weird
- 58:52Speaker 4: and fucked up one. But twin Peaks, oh yeah, yeah.
- 58:56Speaker 4: I mean that's got a very soap opera kind of
- 58:58Speaker 4: field to it. But it's also just dark and distance.
- 58:59Speaker 1: It's a hipsters soap opera. It is a little bit
- 59:02Speaker 1: and that was me absolute tes Today I learned that
- 59:04Speaker 1: there's a shipload of worms games, but never I've never
- 59:07Speaker 1: played worms, but I want to play worms now. I
- 59:09Speaker 1: want worms. You've got word jet's like you what something?
- 59:14Speaker 4: I got them to burn.
- 59:17Speaker 1: Forward? Your names will be all right? Is the guy
- 59:20Speaker 1: Davis New Name Championship. The current leaderboard stands at this
- 59:24Speaker 1: mister Davis. In first position, we have Jared Hornby on
- 59:28Speaker 1: nineteen points. We have Adam Moorehouse in second position on
- 59:31Speaker 1: fourteen points, and Phil Hawkins on eleven points in third position.
- 59:34Speaker 4: Take it away, Take it away. One point goes to
- 59:37Speaker 4: Smokey and the ballet.
- 59:39Speaker 1: Now there was two actually there were well ballet bandits
- 59:43Speaker 1: yeah not that one. No, no, just smoking the back.
- 59:45Speaker 1: Oh so apologies Melissa and listen is that they go
- 59:47Speaker 1: damn you Davis, damn you, Melissa in return, So the
- 59:52Speaker 1: one who just said so, the not that one not
- 59:54Speaker 1: smoking the ballet band just smoking in the ballet that
- 59:57Speaker 1: is ballet sounds enough like bandit to make the joke
- 59:59Speaker 1: work as far as I'm concerned. Fergus, Jeff's what on?
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: Fergus with the one point there that puts you now
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: in fourth position? On six points? What with car?
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: Oh?
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: Okay?
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: Then two points go to par de do do always works?
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Jet Gurdon with the first points of the season. So
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: two points to Jet, what on, you're the second best Jet?
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: We know, Jet, Jet, You're coming second with a dog,
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: but yeah.
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: Don't feel bad about it, Jet, It's a pretty good dog.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: Three points goes to ash Dance always good. Oh, Chared Hornby, Oh,
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: I don't know, Jared Howny is going to beaten now.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: That puts him eight points clear in the first position.
- 1:00:41Speaker 4: Well, this was episode fifteen and there are five left,
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: and there are twenty episodes.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: This sea, so there's still fifteen points worth of three
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: point is to the thing is, though, you're going to
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: get points and he's going to get none. And as
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: we always say, Guy Davis goes in blind. So to everything.
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: Pretty much everyone says. Many people are just like everybody.
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: We'll go at people on the highway.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Yes, so okay, So Jared's now in twenty two, Adam
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: Moorehouse second on fourteen, Phil Hawkins eleven. So it's going
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: to take some absolute pearls from Adam Moorehouse or Phil
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: Hoggens to get up there. But it can be done.
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: I have faith in both those gentlemen. I have faith
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: in everyone who takes part in the Guy Davis New
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: Name Challenge.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: So Clever Kyle and Fergus can't win now because they
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: are except Clever car because they are sixteen points behind,
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: and there's any I know, there's only fifteen points possible,
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: like if you get five three pointers, so they can't win.
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: I don't think, Yeah, you'd have to be who shoots
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: three pointers? Kobe, I'm not in your.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: Jordan. Just say almost this go by for Jordan.
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: Scotty.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: Don't try and think Scotty Pippen.
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: I just like saying the name is Scotty Pippen, great name,
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: great name. Anyway, you'd have to, yeah, shoot three pointers
- 1:01:55Speaker 4: on the level of Michael Jordan. You'd have to take
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: it personally. Yes, So good luck that.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: And I've decided and I'm going to ratcon this to
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: previous people who have won it. If you win the
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: Guy Davis New Name Championship, yeah, you get a top
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: tier patronage support for the next season. Wow, that's that's
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: pretty good. Yeah, I mean that's a pretty good prime.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: So Phil Hawkins, you've got one coming your way as well.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: I'm going to look at the previous winners. Everyone, they're
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: gonna get a free.
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: Oh you're going to apply them recroactively. Yeah, well, good
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: for you.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: It's not fair to just not give it to just
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: give it to someone now and not give it to
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: the previous ones.
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: You're handing out participation ribbons. Winners be winners.
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: Yes, maybe the last two oneever's most fini. So whoever
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: wins gets the season next season, the season twenty will
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: be a top tier supporter and they get them on
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: every episode regardless of whether they are supporters or not. Please,
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: I cantie find that.
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: The downside is I'm going to read it out in.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: This foolish all right anyway, guys, well that is the
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: Guy Davis New Name Championship. As I said, Joe hold
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: me eight points clip but still send any new names
