- 0:00As part of Ferrari Fridays, William Ross from the Exotic Car Marketplace
- 0:04will be discussing all things Ferrari and interviewing people that live
- 0:07and breathe The Ferrari brand.
- 0:09Topics range from road cars to racing drivers to owners, as well
- 0:13as auctions, private sales and trends in the collector market.
- 0:20Never, never.
- 0:28Hello everyone.
- 0:29Welcome back to the Ferrari Marketplace Podcast.
- 0:31I'm your host, William Ross.
- 0:32I want to say hello and thank Chris Neely from Ping Horse of Nashville
- 0:36for coming on, being part of this, and Sam Murtaugh from Mecu.
- 0:40Welcome gentlemen.
- 0:41How are you?
- 0:41Thanks.
- 0:42Good to be here.
- 0:42We did our first episode on John Shirley's.
- 0:45Ferrari two 50 GTO.
- 0:47If you're not familiar with it, I highly recommend hitting up Mecca's website.
- 0:50We are continuing our conversation here for the Mecu Kissame auction because
- 0:54the second half of this chat that we are having with Mr. Mely from Prancing Horse
- 0:58of Nashville and Sam Murtaugh from Mecu is the Bachman collection, which is just
- 1:03an incredible, incredible collection of cars of Ferrari specifically.
- 1:08These are some of the lowest mileage collector blue chip cars.
- 1:11The JLo is a very, very favorite color of the Bachman family for sure.
- 1:16But Chris is the one who knows these cars very, very well.
- 1:19He was the one that was instrumental in getting this all together and
- 1:22getting mecu all set up, I guess you could say, with all these cars.
- 1:26The other cool thing is it's not just these higher end ones too.
- 1:29I mean, he's.
- 1:29Started his love affair with Ferrari.
- 1:31Started with 3 0 8, correct.
- 1:33The very first carb was the 19 84 3 0 8 GTS.
- 1:36So obviously he has that soft spot for him.
- 1:38Yeah, there's no doubt how many Three.
- 1:40There's like three Oh eights.
- 1:41The three 20 eights and he is got the Quattro valves like, and you don't wanna
- 1:44say in every man's Ferrari and stuff, but Yeah, it's, you know, you have something
- 1:47price point wise, I guess you could say.
- 1:49It can fill any spot for somebody.
- 1:51You know, you have a car that's gonna be in the low six figure range, but
- 1:54you're gonna have stuff that's gonna be.
- 1:55Seven figures easily.
- 1:57F 41, 850 miles.
- 1:59Everyone's got 459 miles, an F 50 with under a thousand miles.
- 2:03Is that gonna break some records?
- 2:04Who knows?
- 2:05Oh yeah.
- 2:06And they have very low mileage.
- 2:07You know, I would assume that they service these things regularly.
- 2:11'cause a lot of these have super low miles.
- 2:12Yeah, they did.
- 2:13Actually.
- 2:13We were fortunate enough to service some of the cars.
- 2:16We opened the dealership in 2022.
- 2:18We started doing some of the service work because it was just
- 2:20logistically closer to them.
- 2:22And obviously I had a relationship back in the past with Phil and Martha, but
- 2:26as you know, the years before that, they had maintenance that was done on the
- 2:29cars that the authorized Ferrari dealers that they picked, and sometimes it was in
- 2:33Georgia and sometimes it was in Florida.
- 2:35But the cars were always maintained at an authorized factory store.
- 2:39The dealership itself servicing the cars.
- 2:41Is there a line older than this or do you guys have.
- 2:44Obviously your techs get certified and do a lot of, lot of training.
- 2:48I mean, do you have like someone special that handles the older cars?
- 2:51Yeah, we have a classic K technician and that's all he does right now.
- 2:54Um, he's actually doing the certification on Dana's four 10 s,
- 2:58so that was the old Carol Shelby race car from the late fifties.
- 3:02And, uh, we're actually doing the certification on that.
- 3:04So we have cars all the way up to modern day cars that we do certifications on.
- 3:08I mean right up until, you know, the very early cars of, you
- 3:11know, what, what Dana's doing.
- 3:12And then obviously all the way up until, I think the one that we just did through
- 3:15the shop was, uh, F 12 TDF at 2017.
- 3:18We just put through, you know, one of the big things, Chris, in regards to these
- 3:21cars is the Classifi case certification.
- 3:23What can you tell us about that whole process?
- 3:25The Ferrari Classifi K certification process is a pretty basic process.
- 3:29The vehicle has to be at least 20 years old or has to be a limited series model,
- 3:34be fully functioning and have all the original OEM parts, and then it passes
- 3:38through a pretty rigorous multi-point inspection by a Ferrari classic K expert.
- 3:43Then they go ahead and they send the package off to the factory.
- 3:45The factory approves it, and then by the time it gets approved, you get what they
- 3:49always refer to as the red book gets sent back to the owner of the vehicle.
- 3:53That's something that you guys are praising horse of Nashville, correct?
- 3:56Yeah, we actually do it.
- 3:57So like I said, for the vehicle to be eligible has to be 20 years old or a
- 4:00limited series, and then our technician goes through the car and he checks
- 4:03condition, originality and then, you know, depending on what type of car it
- 4:07is, whether it's a road car, formula one car, a limited series car, and
- 4:11that marks it off if it's eligible.
- 4:12The certification process itself is pretty simple.
- 4:15It's, uh, inspection.
- 4:17Like I said, it's a multi-point inspection.
- 4:19They check all the components.
- 4:20They check the chassis, the engine, the gearbox, the suspension and
- 4:23brakes to make sure that it's original to that actual serial number.
- 4:27If any parts have to be replaced or if they're damaged, they go
- 4:30ahead and they get parts that match the original specification.
- 4:33Even if they have to remanufacture 'em, they will.
- 4:36If it's a car that's obviously quite old.
- 4:38And then the certification is upon passing all of this, the inspection, you go
- 4:42ahead and go through the certification process At the factory, they have a
- 4:45committee that sits together and they have a pretty comprehensive dossier of
- 4:49the history and specifications of the car.
- 4:52And once it's approved, obviously you get certified and you get
- 4:55that certified stamp and you get the book that gets sent to you.
- 4:58And that's like then for the rest of the life of the car, is it
- 5:00something you have to be done every 10 years say, or something like that?
- 5:03You know, they, they recommend that you do it every so many years.
- 5:06They say three years, because here's what's happening.
- 5:09A lot of times the car gets sold and resold.
- 5:11My rule of thumb is this.
- 5:13If the car is with the same owner and the car obviously is lightly used, it's okay.
- 5:17I mean, if the car obviously gets sold, then you're gonna wanna recert
- 5:21that certification for the new owner.
- 5:23He's gonna wanna have an updated certification.
- 5:26In my way of looking at it.
- 5:27It's very similar to having an appraisal letter.
- 5:29If you go ahead and you have a home, you get a new appraisal, new owner,
- 5:33even though the house was done, you're gonna go ahead and have it set up for
- 5:35your insurance company or whatever it may be, and it really helps provide,
- 5:38God forbid there is ever a loss, it's fully documented what the car was.
- 5:42How many of these cars have classic K on them?
- 5:44On the Bachman collection?
- 5:45I believe there was 17 binders, if I'm not correct.
- 5:48Sam, is that correct?
- 5:49It was 17 or 20.
- 5:50It might have been 17 red and three yellow.
- 5:52Is that right?
- 5:53Or three yellow I believe.
- 5:54Yeah.
- 5:55Alright.
- 5:55What's, what's the yellow?
- 5:56It would be anything that was a limited series model.
- 5:58So you would have, obviously the La Ferrari.
- 6:00The La Ferrari Perin in the F 12 TDF.
- 6:02They would've been the cars that would've been eligible.
- 6:04I don't think a lot of people realize that then that, you know, everyone
- 6:07thinks Red Book, but there's also the yellow book that's something new.
- 6:10Yeah, there's actually a, there's a red book with a white stripe,
- 6:13which is for the competition cars, and then there's obviously what
- 6:16they call like a tailor made car.
- 6:18There's actually a gray book as well, so there's four
- 6:20different books to be official.
- 6:22They used to have a white book, but they replaced it with a different book.
- 6:25So there's four books now.
- 6:26Wow.
- 6:26That's spectacular.
- 6:27It really is.
- 6:28At least you know exactly that.
- 6:30You have something that's authentic adds to the provenance of the car.
- 6:33That's good to know.
- 6:33Appreciate that information, Chris.
- 6:35Good stuff.
- 6:35But I wanna jump right in.
- 6:36We're gonna just hammer into this one.
- 6:38I wanna start out with though, is that one six.
- 6:40Six mm. Because that's just an incredible car.
- 6:42You know, I'm a big lover and aficionado of the earlier era stuff.
- 6:46What's really cool about this car, and correct me if I'm wrong,
- 6:49Chris, that car is originally delivered to the United States?
- 6:51I believe so.
- 6:52Yeah.
- 6:52I believe it was a California gentleman that had the car originally.
- 6:55He did quite a bit of racing with it, you know, he had a lot of fun with it, and
- 6:58that's what people did back in that era.
- 6:59You know, there was a lot of road racing and there were tons of events at that
- 7:02point in time in the US You hit all the good ones, I guess you could say back.
- 7:06It was cool to see that.
- 7:07And I was a bit surprised.
- 7:08'cause I mean, back then that was kind of a rare thing.
- 7:10I mean, you had to have some deep pockets to bring a Ferrari over.
- 7:12'cause I mean, what did, um, Chinetti start being like the importer Like was
- 7:16that in the early fifties, sixties?
- 7:18He raced obviously for many, many years.
- 7:21He's a two time Lamont winner.
- 7:22Won it back to back at a close relationship, obviously with Enzo Ferrari.
- 7:25And then he came to the States and he was the distributor and the exact year,
- 7:29I'd have to look up, but he was at it for just many, many, many, many, many years.
- 7:33You know, he was obviously the go-to guy in New York City.
- 7:35He was the man, that's for sure.
- 7:37The next one's a very special car, 'cause a 2 75 GTB four cam is probably
- 7:41one of my all-time favorite Ferraris.
- 7:43But what makes this car very special?
- 7:44It's an alloy bodied car.
- 7:46I'm not sure the total build amount of four cams.
- 7:48I know it wasn't that many.
- 7:49How many were alloy bodied cars?
- 7:5116. 16? That's it.
- 7:53And that was just for lightness?
- 7:54Just for racing?
- 7:54Yeah.
- 7:55Obviously, yeah.
- 7:56The lighter it was, obviously the quicker you'll go.
- 7:58Was that something when you would order the car, I guess you'd say specified it
- 8:02or just kind of like they built it and then you were, you're lucky to get one?
- 8:05No, absolutely 100%.
- 8:07It was something that was ordered specifically and it took more time
- 8:10obviously than a steel body car, but there was quite the weight
- 8:13savings and you know, the lighter the weight, the quicker the car would be.
- 8:16Uh, it wasn't something that they just put off the assembly line.
- 8:18A lot of the cars were alloy cars earlier on.
- 8:21You know, as the years went on and their production increased, making the
- 8:24alloy cars was tougher and tougher.
- 8:25'cause it is old fashioned metal beating, you know, and they would pound it out.
- 8:29Did that car leave the factory in that yellow?
- 8:31Yes, it did.
- 8:31It is.
- 8:32Did that is an original, yeah, it is an original yellow black car.
- 8:35Wow.
- 8:35I mean, I, I'm a big fan of the yellow Ferrara.
- 8:36I mean, that's thing stunning.
- 8:38Four cams obviously are the ones that get compared to two cam.
- 8:41What kind of premium does that add?
- 8:42Alli body?
- 8:43I mean, gotta be like 30%.
- 8:45No, no, no.
- 8:45It's definitely, it's more than that.
- 8:46More than that.
- 8:47Okay.
- 8:47Oh yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 8:48Because a perfect steel body car, the first number, I'll start with a
- 8:52three, 3.6, 3.7 million, depending on the provenance on the vehicle,
- 8:56who did the restoration on it.
- 8:58And then on the flip side is.
- 8:59You know, you have one of the 16 alloy body cars and you know, the cars were
- 9:03driven and they were raced back then.
- 9:04So, you know, they, some of them got a little banged up.
- 9:06I mean, obviously they're straight now and the cars have all been restored, but this
- 9:10particular car does not have any of that.
- 9:12When Emiliano Torquer did the inspection on it, he's the former Ferrari class
- 9:16CK employee as well as Marco or Rigi.
- 9:19Both of them were Ferrari Classic K employees.
- 9:21Both of them will tell you that the car is probably the finest
- 9:25example that they've ever seen.
- 9:27For Mecu itself, I mean, what would you guys do, you know, when someone's
- 9:30got such low mileage cars like that, an abundance of several cars, do you have any
- 9:34requirements or prerequisite saying get service or do something like that before
- 9:38you guys will have across the block?
- 9:39Or is there anything you guys want 'em to do special for the cars?
- 9:42Not necessarily.
- 9:42I mean, obviously at an auction, typically, you know,
- 9:44the cars are sold as is.
- 9:46As we do help buyers with as much as we can from inspection process and help them
- 9:50be able to, you know, look around the car.
- 9:52Determine what, where they're at, obviously with whatever records there may
- 9:55be, you know, whether it's a bachman car, any car on the auction for that matter,
- 9:59just what's there for them to look at and, and make their own assessment of
- 10:01what they think they're getting into, whether that's gonna require some service
- 10:04after the fact, or whether it's been serviced or whatever the case might be.
- 10:07So there's no requirements.
- 10:09A car can be sold or offered no matter it's quote unquote condition.
- 10:13Helping to give as much information to that buyer to be able to do
- 10:15their due diligence ahead of time.
- 10:18That's why, you know, we very much recommend that you come inspect these
- 10:20cars in advance and, and do your due diligence ahead of time and get a good
- 10:24idea what you think you might expect to have to do after you buy it, if anything.
- 10:27So that's definitely just part of the process, right?
- 10:29When you're buying any car auction anywhere, we were just speaking about
- 10:33the uh, 2 75 GT four four cam alloy body.
- 10:36I'm always curious 'cause that's such a special car, but being an alloy
- 10:39buddy, that's a very delicate car.
- 10:41How do you guys go about preparing whoever's going to be
- 10:45handling that car at the auction?
- 10:46I mean, is there some sort of special people for that or, yeah,
- 10:49so we've got a designated crew, we call it the collections team,
- 10:52their role within the organization.
- 10:53That role is, you know, we've got our management team within that collections
- 10:56team, a group of mechanics, detailers drivers that are dedicated to collections
- 11:01like this, like the Bauchman collections.
- 11:03So it'll be handled by them.
- 11:04By our collections team.
- 11:05The display will be in such a way where, you know, people aren't gonna just
- 11:08be able to glom all over these cars.
- 11:10They'll be quarantined off, so to speak.
- 11:11They'll be visible, but then it's the only people they'll be able to access and get
- 11:15up close and personal will be registered bidders and they will be, you know,
- 11:18hosted by team members to be able to kind of guide them through and look at that.
- 11:21So it's not just.
- 11:22Open season, so to speak, where we're just gonna leave a car like that for everybody.
- 11:26You know?
- 11:26We'll have over a hundred thousand people come through the gates at Kissimmee
- 11:29over the course of the entire auction.
- 11:30So, you know, that's a lot of people, that's a lot of kids,
- 11:32that's a lot of families.
- 11:33So, I mean, we have to make sure that we display them and present them
- 11:35in such a way that that also at the same time, you know, allows them to
- 11:38be seed and viewed and appreciated.
- 11:40Yeah, but also cool thing about Amica Auctions events and really high level car
- 11:44events and car shows for the most part.
- 11:46Car enthusiast understand the unwritten rules of respect about other
- 11:50people's cars and property, but you get that many people coming through.
- 11:53We have to make sure we take the right precautions to, to protect cars like that.
- 11:56Exactly.
- 11:57I dunno, maybe I'm a just don't realize it, but of a small minority of a big fan
- 12:01of the 400 Eyes and the four 12 eyes.
- 12:04You are.
- 12:04I love those cars.
- 12:05Why?
- 12:06I don't know.
- 12:06Just something about it.
- 12:07I like the shape, everything to it.
- 12:08There's one crossing the block that's in this group that looks like from the photos
- 12:13that cars needs a little more TLC to it.
- 12:15'cause it looks like it's missed some panels or is that all gonna be
- 12:18put back together for the auction?
- 12:19I think it's gonna be basically sold as is.
- 12:22I know that we discussed that we were gonna try to go ahead and
- 12:24get it put back together prior to.
- 12:25But I just don't think that it, uh, as I say, worked out in the, in the deck.
- 12:29It doesn't need much.
- 12:30I can tell you that right now.
- 12:31For instance, one of our technicians could have the whole car snap
- 12:35back together in seven days time.
- 12:37Oh, really?
- 12:37Okay.
- 12:37Seven actual working days.
- 12:38It's not like it needs something.
- 12:40And that's, again, that's not him on high rush.
- 12:42If I put two guys on it, they could probably have the car put back
- 12:45together in just a couple days.
- 12:47But the gentleman that was working on it, I think that's the same time when
- 12:51Phil was getting quite sick, Martha was sick and then the gentleman just
- 12:54stopped working on the car at that time.
- 12:56She got quite ill in 2023 and uh, she passed obviously in early 24.
- 13:01Yeah, sad to hear that.
- 13:02The one other cool thing about that car is the manual.
- 13:06Yeah, I know.
- 13:06It's a very low percentage of those cars were made with the manual.
- 13:09The automatics I always thought was interesting.
- 13:11It's got a GM three speed in it, but the small amount of those that were
- 13:15built in manual makes that much better.
- 13:16I'm the odd bird.
- 13:19Yeah.
- 13:19It's one of five that were produced in that color combination with a manual
- 13:22gearbox, and it was one of 388 produced with a manual transmission out of the
- 13:281000 294 400 eyes that were produced.
- 13:32So when you really look at it, it's quite a small amount that did have a
- 13:35manual gearbox, and like I said, one of 11 produced in that color combination.
- 13:39So out of the 1294 total, one of 11.
- 13:43It is a really special car.
- 13:44And for somebody that's looking just to go ahead and have a little side project,
- 13:47it'll be a great, great, great great car and, and the car, honestly, I love the
- 13:52car because of the color combination, because normally you would see those cars,
- 13:57traditionally they're in grays and blues.
- 13:58Yeah.
- 13:58And every, occasionally you'll see 'em in a black.
- 14:01You don't really even see 'em in red, you know, even in the earth
- 14:03tones, you know, you would see 'em in a green, you would see 'em in a
- 14:05brown, but not really ever in red.
- 14:08So that makes that car really special.
- 14:09Yeah.
- 14:10I think stands out.
- 14:10It is the last one produced in that color combination with a manual transmission.
- 14:16Wow.
- 14:16All right.
- 14:17In its own way, it's, Sam was saying it's another one of
- 14:20these last ones that comes up.
- 14:21That car in particular, it's, it's an opportunity car, right?
- 14:24So I mean, it's crossing the block.
- 14:25The car's there, but it, you know, obviously needs a little bit of finish
- 14:27work to get everything put back together, but that creates that opportunity, right?
- 14:30So I mean, like you said, you know, that car really trips your trigger,
- 14:33the 400 eye and like, but then you see it's like, well, but it's not done.
- 14:36But then it's that opportunity of, well hey, maybe I can get a great deal
- 14:38on this thing because it's not done.
- 14:39Typically, it's gonna bring quite a few folks like yourself
- 14:42that see that opportunity.
- 14:43Yeah.
- 14:43The final price tag of that car will probably surprise you even in
- 14:46the condition that it's in because of it's gonna create so much of
- 14:48that opportunity desire that, hey, maybe I can get that deal.
- 14:51And it's obviously.
- 14:52What we love about the auction process is he brings those people
- 14:54together in one place and then bid against each other for the car.
- 14:57But every once in a while I see a car like that where, hey, it's all there.
- 15:00But if Chris said it needs, you know, seven, 10 days worth of work by a
- 15:02couple of texts, you know, having that opportunity and some people
- 15:05like that to be able to say that they finished off, they put their DNA on
- 15:09it, they completed the car themselves, it makes it even more theirs when
- 15:12they do get that finished product.
- 15:13And it's kind of fun to see sometimes when cars like that do cross the block.
- 15:16Cool.
- 15:17Important car, but not quite finished, but the opportunity is there, which is cool.
- 15:20To your point, I think that's gonna surprise a lot of people in regards
- 15:23to, I think what that hammer's at.
- 15:24And plus, you're gonna have some people out there probably think,
- 15:26Hey, I can just do that myself.
- 15:27Right?
- 15:27Tweak their own.
- 15:28Right.
- 15:28That's right.
- 15:29Now we're gonna start jumping into the heavy hitters.
- 15:31What's cool with this collection is especially Fab Five or whatever you
- 15:34want to call it, having that serious Ferrari collection, it always starts
- 15:37with what everyone considers the first Ferrari supercars, A 2 8 8 GTO.
- 15:41Now, this one's spectacular, but the biggest thing is it says
- 15:44it's got 2007 kilometers, which is just a hair over 1200 miles.
- 15:48It's one of the lowest, it's not the lowest.
- 15:50I know of a few others, obviously, but, and this is the other thing that's
- 15:53very, very important, this car, it's a single owner car, whereas a lot
- 15:57of the other ones that you see that are floating around, they've had 5,
- 16:006, 7 owners and they bounce between.
- 16:02Especially the European cars went from Belgium To France.
- 16:05Yeah.
- 16:05To Germany, back to Italy or what have you.
- 16:07Not that I'm questioning it, but every time that they fill out those odometer
- 16:10statements in other places, way back in the day, there was a little bit
- 16:14of a penmanship that went into it.
- 16:16This one, it's the original car, original owner.
- 16:19To find an original owner, one really, really, really makes it more
- 16:22of a unicorn than anything else.
- 16:24It makes it to me, one of the most special ones that I've ever seen.
- 16:26What options does that have on it?
- 16:28Because there weren't that many you could get on that car, but I know
- 16:30there's a few that are pretty rare.
- 16:32So that car has three of the options out of the four that were offered.
- 16:36The leather seats were one of them.
- 16:37A lot of people look for the desired inserts.
- 16:40This car did not have the inserts.
- 16:42It has power windows and it has the ac.
- 16:46Well, not that many had air conditioning either.
- 16:48Radio, delete, that's what it has.
- 16:50The radio delete.
- 16:50It was usually a lot of people went ahead and the radio was an option.
- 16:54This the car with that special luggage too, isn't it, Chris?
- 16:57Yeah.
- 16:57So that car in particular, there was only four or five cars that
- 17:02were produced with a secondary bag.
- 17:04So originally Kel Reto, who was a former farmer, one driver
- 17:07for Ferrari, he came to Edon.
- 17:10He was looking for a very small bag to fit in the car, just to put, you know,
- 17:14an overnight pair of slacks or shirt or something, but something to carry in a
- 17:18hotel and not walk in with a plastic bag.
- 17:20So they created this one bag, this called the secondary smaller luggage bag.
- 17:24They only made it for four or five people.
- 17:26And this particular car has it.
- 17:28I've never seen the bag ever.
- 17:31Other than one other car, which I saw at Catalina a few years ago, but
- 17:35I've never seen it with anyone else.
- 17:36And the bag alone is super, super, super special.
- 17:39Oh God, yeah.
- 17:40Tacular.
- 17:40Mm-hmm.
- 17:40Getting like that just adds to the provenance in that car rarity alone, but
- 17:44just the options and not having that bag with it just makes it stand up from Molly,
- 17:48I guess You say all the other ones and.
- 17:49To your point, I think there was only the one I was aware
- 17:51of too that had lower miles.
- 17:52But I mean, it's just one owner that kind of kicks off.
- 17:55Jumping into the super hypercar basically has the same engine as the F 40.
- 18:00Very similar.
- 18:00Now there's not one, there's two two F Fortys in this collection.
- 18:05They're gonna be going across the block.
- 18:06They're super unique.
- 18:07One's got 850 some miles.
- 18:09It always got 459 miles.
- 18:11So in 1992 for the US market, Ferrari made 60 cars.
- 18:14And then out of the 60, a lot of people say which cars were made in calendar
- 18:19year 1992, and that was the final 24.
- 18:22So there really isn't many that were made.
- 18:24One of these cars was produced in calendar year 1992, and the other
- 18:28one was produced in late 91, but they're both 1992 at forties.
- 18:32Like I said, there was 60 produced.
- 18:33The one that has 456 miles.
- 18:36That car was a factory delivery.
- 18:38It has the EE plates on it.
- 18:40You know, as Phil went ahead and received the car, and that car actually has
- 18:43the original per LEP zero tires that were, um, most of the European cars.
- 18:49His US model actually has those on it.
- 18:51The other car has.
- 18:52The Goodyear Gs A, which were super, super rare and you know,
- 18:57you can't find them today.
- 18:58So these cars, for guys that are looking to show the car as original
- 19:02Belli stopped producing this version of the tire years ago, as did Goodyear.
- 19:05Goodyear stopped producing them.
- 19:07So when people see them at shows and they say, look, this car's original for
- 19:10the guys that really know, they know because all the F forties look pretty
- 19:13much the same, obviously they're all red.
- 19:15Yeah.
- 19:16And they're all red interior.
- 19:17Exactly.
- 19:17You know, you have the original tires like that on there.
- 19:19What would you do to maintain those tires to be able to utilize them?
- 19:22I mean, obviously you're climate control and that stuff, but what else can you
- 19:25do with those tires so you can roll it around on 'em so they don't deteriorate?
- 19:29So what Phil and Martha did, you know, a lot of times, like when you put tire
- 19:32conditioners and different products like that, a lot of times they'll dry up the
- 19:36rubber on the car and they knew that.
- 19:37So that's why when you would see the cars, the cars would not have any tire shine.
- 19:41I'm sure, Sam, you noticed that when we were there?
- 19:43Mm-hmm.
- 19:43The cars weren't all dazzled up with all that super shiny stuff on 'em because they
- 19:47knew that that eventually would get into the rubber and start to break it down.
- 19:51And if a tire was gonna go outta production, I know we're gonna be bringing
- 19:54the tires and wheels to the auction.
- 19:56They went ahead and they would say, Hey, this tire's gonna go outta production.
- 19:59Let's go buy an extra set or two.
- 20:01And sure enough, they have, you know, the extra rubber that, oh wow, they bought for
- 20:04some of these cars, which is non-existent.
- 20:07You know, you just really can't find that stuff.
- 20:08I mean, that's incredible.
- 20:10I mentioned earlier that the whole collection's going bang, bang, bang,
- 20:13bang across the block, one after other.
- 20:15Was there any conversation of like maybe separating those two just
- 20:19because of the low mileage and that Chris was involved with that as well?
- 20:23I mean, it's, you know, no easy feat.
- 20:24We had multiple conversations with Chris and Dana and everyone that was
- 20:27to set these 48 cars in order and you know, what order do you put 'em in?
- 20:30Obviously there's no handbook to that.
- 20:32Right.
- 20:32And how do you space that out and make sure that, whether it's
- 20:35guys after specific cars, you wanna make sure that they have.
- 20:37Time in between what they're after.
- 20:38And you gotta take all these different things into consideration
- 20:40when you're setting an order.
- 20:41And we took our time and, and thought it through and, you know, the order
- 20:44that they'll end up being, which we have is done in such a way where we think
- 20:47it gives everybody the opportunity to be able to focus on certain things.
- 20:51And there's no super magic sauce to how it's done other than the fact that, you
- 20:54know, taking, like you said, I mean, do you put these two cars back to back?
- 20:57Probably doesn't make much sense.
- 20:58You're gonna spread 'em out just a little bit so that if, if there is
- 21:00somebody that wants to try and come after both of them, that gives them
- 21:03an opportunity to sort of reset and.
- 21:05Go after 'em.
- 21:05That's a good point.
- 21:06I could see one buyer going after both of them potentially.
- 21:09Yeah, absolutely.
- 21:10To mention too, I, you know, we talked about with the 2 88 GTO,
- 21:13but both these F forties again ordered new by Phil and Martha.
- 21:17Yeah.
- 21:17One owner F 42 of them.
- 21:18So, I mean, you're kind of three in a row with, you know, these cars.
- 21:21It's, to me that's mind blowing.
- 21:22I mean, you know, just like we said with the 2 88 to find one with one
- 21:25owner, most of 'em have six, seven, bounced around all over the place.
- 21:28Same with these cars.
- 21:29Yeah, same thing.
- 21:30The fact that one would be incredible to have two in the same with, you
- 21:32know, the same owner, one owner.
- 21:34It's kind of mind boggling.
- 21:35I don't think we'll see it again.
- 21:36In all honestly, it's an incredible opportunity.
- 21:38Bill was so hell bent on wanting to make sure he got one.
- 21:41I think he was working, correct me if I'm wrong, Chris, but he was
- 21:44kind of working two angles at the same time to ensure that he got one.
- 21:47Then they both kind of came to fruition.
- 21:48Then he just decided, well, I guess I'm gonna have two, and
- 21:51decided not to give one up.
- 21:52They kept both allocations and got 'em both done and put 'em both in the garage
- 21:56was, you know, to me that story was, I just never heard anything like that.
- 21:59That was pretty awesome.
- 21:59Best story, honestly, is, uh, the one that he really wanted initially was the F 50.
- 22:05Yeah.
- 22:05The story.
- 22:06Phil went to the factory and got in town a little bit early.
- 22:08So usually when he would travel, he would travel, you know, t-shirt,
- 22:11jeans, you know, just good old boy from eastern Tennessee.
- 22:14And it was the summertime and he went out there, he took a flight and he got there.
- 22:18And he got there a little bit early and he was checking in the hotel
- 22:21right down the road and he was driving by the factory and he saw somebody.
- 22:25And you know, they said, well, why don't you just come on in?
- 22:27And he was like, ah, you know, I just got here.
- 22:29And they said, yeah, don't worry about it.
- 22:30Come on in.
- 22:31Somebody else apparently walked in the room.
- 22:32They saw him and they made a comment.
- 22:34They said, you know, next time you come here.
- 22:36You better make sure that you have a sport jacket on and a suit and tie.
- 22:39And he was always buttoned up.
- 22:40He was really tight.
- 22:41Phil was, you know, if you look at all the photos and the videos,
- 22:43he was always looking super sharp.
- 22:45So Simone said, uh, that set him off and he said, that's it, I'm done.
- 22:50So he had a little bit of a war with him and you could see when it was.
- 22:54'cause it was the F 50 and 95.
- 22:56It was the F five 12 M, and 95, and he didn't get another car
- 23:00until 99 with the 3 55 fiorano.
- 23:03So there was a few years that he basically didn't purchase
- 23:07any cars new at that point.
- 23:08Eventually he went back out and he found those cars because people always
- 23:11said, well, why is this one not yellow?
- 23:13Or, why did the yellow F five 12 M have 5,000 miles on it?
- 23:16I said, that's because he picked up that car secondary.
- 23:19But the one that sold this past summer at Pebble.
- 23:21That would've been his car, the final one.
- 23:23Number 75.
- 23:24Outta 75.
- 23:25Really?
- 23:25That would've been his car.
- 23:27Yeah, because he was always getting, you know, the last ones at that point,
- 23:30you know, and then it, it kind of took like a shape of its own, you know, he
- 23:33started, you know, after that you could see it with every other car after that,
- 23:36the Fiorano, the five 50 Barta, it was the last one for the us, you know, and
- 23:40you could just start to see the pattern on how we started to get the cars.
- 23:43So it, uh, actually opened something new up after that.
- 23:48Now you, you mentioned F 50, that's the next one I wanna get into.
- 23:51I know this is of interest for everybody.
- 23:53'cause other than Ralph Lauren's that just went, this one with only
- 23:57251 miles on it is incredible.
- 23:59Yeah, it really is for what's going on in the market with those cars.
- 24:03I mean, those things have just gone through the roof, so to speak in the past.
- 24:07Would you say 24 months they have shot up?
- 24:09Incredibly.
- 24:10Yeah.
- 24:10Really natural aspirated manual V 12.
- 24:12I mean, it just checks all the boxes.
- 24:14I mean, it's just incredible.
- 24:15You know, only 251 miles.
- 24:16One owner.
- 24:17Yeah.
- 24:17This one's actually multiple owners.
- 24:19Oh, it is?
- 24:19Because he purchased this car from me, Ian Poulter, and Ian
- 24:22was the second owner of the car.
- 24:23Nonetheless.
- 24:24Usually what happens is, you know, obviously Ferrari announced the
- 24:27F 80, which is the next car in the sequence of the supercars.
- 24:30Usually what happens is every time that they announce one of those cars,
- 24:33and it's generally speaking, every 10 years, you had 85 with the GTO and then,
- 24:38and it was, uh, obviously 87 is when they announced the F 40, and then it
- 24:42went to 95 and then it went to 2013.
- 24:45As time went on, it's usually about every 10 years.
- 24:48Then the LA Ferrari and so on and so forth.
- 24:50So here we are, the F eighty's out when that happens.
- 24:53Generally speaking, a lot of these people, the big collectors guys that
- 24:56are new to it, they say, well, you know, you called it the Fab Five earlier.
- 25:00Guys say, I want to get all of them.
- 25:02Sure enough.
- 25:02They want to jump on and they say, okay, I want to get all, all the cars.
- 25:06And then they start to find, I want the best ones.
- 25:08And that's why this Bachman collection is really unique because
- 25:12what Sam said is exactly the deal.
- 25:14You're gonna see two F fifties or two f forties in a sale maybe.
- 25:18But to see 'em from the original owner with that kind of mileage, I, I
- 25:22don't think it's gonna happen again.
- 25:23I really don't.
- 25:23I mean, and, and I've been doing this a pretty long time.
- 25:26I've never seen these kind of cars with this type of mileage.
- 25:30And then the uniqueness of the colors.
- 25:32The uniqueness of the options, obviously the cars were meticulously maintained.
- 25:37Uh, I don't think you're ever gonna see it again.
- 25:38I really don't.
- 25:39Sam, I'm sure the scuttlebutt you guys have been receiving has been that
- 25:43one person trying to go after a lot of these cars at one crack is you're
- 25:48not gonna get this opportunity again.
- 25:49But this gets you the best of the best.
- 25:52You guys have had to have some inquiries about, Hey, I think one person's
- 25:54gonna just wrap these things up.
- 25:56I, I mean, yeah, the interest has been incredible, as you might imagine.
- 25:59I mean, as soon as we announced it, I mean, the, the emails and phone calls
- 26:02coming into folks getting registered to make sure that they don't miss.
- 26:05The chance to be a part of it and, and get their hands on things has been
- 26:08from day one when we first made the announcement and, and just steady through.
- 26:11I mean, it's, it's been great.
- 26:13I mean, obviously I think Ferrari collectors, collectors in general just
- 26:16are realizing the uniqueness of this opportunity and the, and the fact that
- 26:20opportunities like this to Chris's point, are probably not gonna present
- 26:23themselves anytime soon, if ever again, especially with some of these cars.
- 26:26I mean, a one owner F forties, the one owner, two 80 HETO,
- 26:29I mean that this could be it.
- 26:30I mean, and to have this many incredible cars and this, these types of
- 26:33conditions in one place to be able to.
- 26:34Come take your pick.
- 26:35I mean, it's, it's, the other great thing is if you look on the website, these are
- 26:40all going off one right after another.
- 26:42Yeah.
- 26:42So that's gonna be an incredible three hours, maybe four hours of just blue chip,
- 26:47blue chip, blue chip went after there.
- 26:48So I mean, I mean, that's gonna be some exciting times in a room For sure.
- 26:51And there's really no lead up.
- 26:52It's gonna be a heck of a week.
- 26:54Yeah.
- 26:54I mean, whoever is gonna be up running the show with the hammer's
- 26:57gonna have a heck of a time.
- 26:58That's a career moment.
- 26:59I mean, oh, that's all these in a row.
- 27:00I mean, that person's just gotta be ecstatic because that's
- 27:03just gonna be unbelievable.
- 27:04No, it's fun.
- 27:04I mean, and you know, our auctioneer team is to that point, I mean, these guys
- 27:08absolutely 120000000% love what they do.
- 27:11And, and they get so jazzed and energized by proud enthusiasm and bidding enthusiasm
- 27:15and seeing, you know, what they're doing in their craft and, and, and help these
- 27:18folks get their hands on these cars and helping be a part of that process.
- 27:21Is really what drives these guys, and they're talking to them about what's
- 27:24coming up in Kissimmee for everything we've got going on between, you know, with
- 27:27the two 50 GTO, the Bachman cars here, and this is probably one of the, one of,
- 27:31if not the greatest lineup of vehicles that we've ever had in Kissimmee, Florida
- 27:35by far to see it all coming together is.
- 27:37Pretty special.
- 27:38It's already a special moment in the moment.
- 27:39It has even happened yet, so I can't even imagine what it's gonna be like in the
- 27:42moment live and when it's all unfolding, it's gonna be pretty incredible.
- 27:45You're gonna have all those emotions, excitement, anxiety,
- 27:48everything, all of it.
- 27:49'cause it's just gonna be all, I mean, it's just gonna be incredible.
- 27:51You know?
- 27:51I, and I've been telling people, if you got a way to get there, you need to go
- 27:54to kiss me in January to be part of this.
- 27:57'cause it's just gonna be incredible.
- 27:58I mean, just the atmosphere, everything, the energy is gonna be unbelievable.
- 28:02Yeah.
- 28:02I mean, I can't wait.
- 28:03It's gonna be exciting.
- 28:03Yeah.
- 28:04Getting into rarity.
- 28:05We're gonna talk about the Enzo.
- 28:07I would have to gather.
- 28:08That's the only one made with that color combo.
- 28:10No, it actually isn't.
- 28:11Really?
- 28:12Yeah.
- 28:12There was another one that was made, but this car was originally left.
- 28:15The factory came off the assembly line with black interior.
- 28:17Phil wanted this other style, red Daytona seats, so they were
- 28:22installed at the factory and there's photos of the car coming off the
- 28:25assembly line with the black seats.
- 28:27The car comes with both sets of seats in the delivery room with the
- 28:30red seats, so they swap them out.
- 28:32So that was for homologation purposes.
- 28:34But this car has some really unique features that no other Enzo I've
- 28:38ever seen that has, it has the engine brace struts in the engine bay.
- 28:42They're both polished.
- 28:43The lower body color, usually on the very bottom of all the cars.
- 28:46They had like a black trim.
- 28:48Yeah.
- 28:48That went all the way around.
- 28:49The lower trim and the, the rear diffuser panel, it has the
- 28:52Enzo Ferrari signature badge.
- 28:53I've only seen about five or six cars that have that.
- 28:56It's really a unique one.
- 28:57In Jello for the US there were 11, there was 36 cars produced
- 29:02globally, but 11 for the us.
- 29:04That's incredible.
- 29:05I mean, I mentioned before, I, I love the Jalo.
- 29:07I mean, the yellow is fantastic, but having that red interior, I mean,
- 29:10that just really makes that pop.
- 29:11And again, one owner, 645 miles, again, that's just, you don't see it.
- 29:17And again, to your point, you know, usually a lot of these
- 29:19have multiple owners, right?
- 29:20Yeah.
- 29:20The opportunity there for one owner that's.
- 29:22Magnificent in itself and just the demand for that's gonna be incredible.
- 29:26I mean, it's just insane.
- 29:27Phil was at the factory and actually got, they suited him up in, on
- 29:30the production line for this car.
- 29:31This is the one, didn't it, Chris?
- 29:32Where they, yeah.
- 29:33Got to kind of turn a wrench on the final stages of the build for the car.
- 29:36So they got, there's a picture of him with a, wearing a full suit in the factory,
- 29:39putting a bolt in the bottom of the car.
- 29:41It was, it's pretty cool.
- 29:42I think he's probably the only one that's ever had a chance to do that.
- 29:45Yeah, I'd imagine.
- 29:46Yeah.
- 29:46You know, you mentioned the photo with him wrenching outta the line stuff.
- 29:48Is there some cool items that are coming along with these cars?
- 29:51Like for the next caretaker?
- 29:53Yeah.
- 29:53Well there was a book that on the lot of the later cars that Phil picked
- 29:56up and he did a European delivery, there was what they call a photo book.
- 29:59So the delivery sales department, they would go ahead and provide a
- 30:02book and it was manufactured from sed.
- 30:05Everyone got it.
- 30:06And they probably did at that point in time, I don't know,
- 30:08maybe like 30 deliveries a month.
- 30:10And people would go to the factory, pick up their car, they would get a beautiful
- 30:13book, they would take the photos, they would have a professional photographer
- 30:16there, and they'd give this book to you.
- 30:18So remember years ago, back then, the digital photos that we see
- 30:21today, you know, they weren't really what they are today.
- 30:23You would actually get an old fashioned photo book.
- 30:26And Phil has a photo book for lots of the cars.
- 30:28And if you look at all the photos, you'll see the same thing.
- 30:30You see PB growing.
- 30:32Their son 'cause he was getting smaller and growing, growing, growing.
- 30:35See Phil and Martha, and then you see Simone, he was in all the photos.
- 30:39So when you go through it, it's kind of unique.
- 30:40So you get that and then you know, every car comes with its original stuff, what
- 30:45I call all the tchotchke stuff, the little instruction pamphlets and all
- 30:48these little things, which as time goes on, people take 'em and they're like,
- 30:52ah, I don't need this little brochure, I don't need this little pamphlet.
- 30:55And they toss it.
- 30:56Phil and Martha saved everything.
- 30:58When I tell you.
- 30:58Everything, everything.
- 30:59So there's just so much stuff.
- 31:02I mean, that's what I'm gonna call it, is stuff.
- 31:03There's just so much stuff that comes with every car.
- 31:06It's amazing.
- 31:07It's, you know, and it brings back memories.
- 31:08Even for me, there was these little static stickers that I would stick on
- 31:12onto the windshield about a missions.
- 31:13People would peel those right off.
- 31:15You know when you get in your new car?
- 31:16Yeah.
- 31:16There's like a, a sticker about an airbag or whatever it may
- 31:19be, and people pull that off.
- 31:20They don't save it.
- 31:21They throw it in the trash.
- 31:22He saved it.
- 31:23He has everything.
- 31:24You name it, they have it.
- 31:25That's what makes this collection really unique.
- 31:28And obviously, you know, we mentioned it multiple, multiple times, but it's
- 31:31a car that has an original owner.
- 31:33So to have an original owner on cars going away back to 84, even if he started
- 31:37buying cars when he was 30 years old, you know, obviously he do the math.
- 31:41I mean, he'd be in his seventies today.
- 31:42So Phil was pretty successful and he started buying cars quite early.
- 31:46He saved everything.
- 31:47And since he was a car dealer, he knew to save a lot of that
- 31:50stuff, whereas most people didn't.
- 31:52And then as the years went on, as they started to show the cars and
- 31:55take 'em to Concor events, they'd break out that stuff and people would
- 31:58be just amazed that they had every little pamphlet, every little sticker.
- 32:02You name it, he would peel off the sticker that was, you know, on the adhesive.
- 32:06He put it on like a nice little backer and save it and he'd say, look, here's
- 32:09all the original stickers that came on the airbag or came here or came there.
- 32:13He has everything.
- 32:14That's incredible, Sam, that had to been kind of, I mean, you guys have
- 32:17archivists and everything like that too, 'cause you guys also deal in roia.
- 32:21However you pronounce the word.
- 32:22That had been kind of interesting for you guys as well to whoever's going through
- 32:25it all to see all this material like that.
- 32:27'cause you don't ever see that.
- 32:29So it was a big task.
- 32:29It's still ongoing a little bit right now, but just making sure that we make
- 32:32sure that we've got everything that belongs to the car, goes with the car.
- 32:35So to make sure that new owner gets that stuff.
- 32:36But also in addition to all the cars and, and all the things he saved, as Chris was
- 32:40mentioned, he also was, would collect.
- 32:42Stuff, tchotchkes, Ferrari related memorabilia, things like that.
- 32:45So his garage was full of that stuff.
- 32:47So, you know, going through and making sure we determine, you know,
- 32:49okay this award belongs to this car or this piece goes with this car.
- 32:53But then also to figure out what was just general collected merchandise
- 32:57to make sure that we have that.
- 32:58Inventory properly.
- 32:59'cause we'll also be selling that stuff off the following day.
- 33:01On Sunday, we'll sell the memorabilia that was the decor that was in his
- 33:05garage, you know, Ferrari light up signs and you know, flags and banners,
- 33:08posters, things like that that were just there as you know, as any car guy
- 33:11would decorate his his garage with.
- 33:13So we'll have some of that as well.
- 33:14So having to go through carefully and calculatedly to, to make sure
- 33:17that we've got everything sorted correctly and what belongs to a
- 33:19card that needs to go along with it.
- 33:20And all that.
- 33:21So yeah, it's been some work to do, but those are always fun projects to
- 33:24be able to, you know, the discovery, you're kind of like an archeologist
- 33:26in that regard and you know, looking and discovering new things.
- 33:29And Chris and I were there last month and Chris kind of blew my mind
- 33:32with just his photographic memory of all things in tchotchke Ferrari.
- 33:36And I might drive by this little medallion and not think anything of it, but then.
- 33:40Chris will gimme this backstory about how unique this little pin is.
- 33:44And for me as a, as a, as a car enthusiast myself, you know, I see
- 33:47thousands of cars all year long at all these different events we do.
- 33:50And, you know, it's, it's, it's work and it's a job.
- 33:52And if some of it becomes numb, but then every once in a while you, you
- 33:54learn something new And it really trips my trigger and reminds me of
- 33:57how much of a car enthusiast I am.
- 33:59Cool.
- 34:00Some of these stories are that a little two inch by two inch
- 34:02medallion that's got a backstory can be a really fun thing to learn.
- 34:05As kind of nerdy as that sounds, there's, there's so much of that going on in inside
- 34:09the Bachman's garage was pretty amazing.
- 34:11Amazing stuff wasn't like these things were mass produced.
- 34:14Keeping all that stuff or collecting it and finding it, it's just huge in itself.
- 34:18Yeah.
- 34:18I'm looking forward to seeing that as well.
- 34:20You know, what was his intent buying these cars?
- 34:22I mean.
- 34:22Obviously he didn't drive them or maybe he drove them half a mile a year.
- 34:26Was it more just a passion?
- 34:27'cause they're just gorgeous cars?
- 34:29What was the thinking behind, Hey, I wanna buy this, but then
- 34:31I'm gonna keep the mileage low?
- 34:33When I would speak to PB about it, you know, he understood, you
- 34:36know, and obviously he had quite a number of cars as the years
- 34:38went on, so he can spread it out.
- 34:40If he wanted to drive his Ferrari, he had 46 of them in
- 34:42the drive at one point in time.
- 34:43But you know, he understood what it meant from an authenticity standpoint.
- 34:48You know, Phil got into doing the Corvette stuff.
- 34:50He did the Bloomington Gold stuff, and he understood that a car that
- 34:53was dead original and had super low miles, the value was gonna be even
- 34:58that much more so as a car dealer.
- 35:00He said, Hey look, we have to exercise the cars.
- 35:02We have to go ahead and use them somewhat.
- 35:04We just can't let 'em sit.
- 35:06So they weren't maintained properly and they were used from time to time, hence.
- 35:09How did this car get four or five, 600 miles over the years, but 20 plus years.
- 35:13And even if you take the car out for a mile or two a month, 25 miles a year,
- 35:17over 10 years, it's 250 miles over.
- 35:20You know, it just adds up.
- 35:21People don't think it's much, but that's how it starts to add up.
- 35:24He really didn't drive 'em much, but he did take 'em out from time to
- 35:27time and that's why some cars have a little bit more miles than others.
- 35:30But I think the real big deal was the FXX when he had the FX.
- 35:34That was like his chance to really get out there and really run some miles.
- 35:38And he ran 'em and he went to all the events, has all the stickers of all the
- 35:42events that he participated in, and he really had a blast and he enjoyed it.
- 35:45Unfortunately, Phil got sick and had a stroke in early 2011.
- 35:48That was his first stroke, and then he had another one after that, so
- 35:51he wasn't able to compete anymore.
- 35:53But when the program came out in, oh.
- 35:55And all the way through.
- 35:56I think he was super active through oh nine.
- 35:58He was doing a lot of the events, I mean a real lot of the events
- 36:01and he was really enjoying life.
- 36:03Good for him.
- 36:03That's great to hear.
- 36:04I mean that those FX X are just insane cars.
- 36:07It's cool that he exercised 'em, utilized what it was made for.
- 36:09Really awesome to see.
- 36:10And what about like the challenge cars and stuff as well?
- 36:13I mean, did those ones just kind of a sip more?
- 36:15Was the FX X the only one?
- 36:16He really kind of went out and I guess they had some fun with
- 36:18the Hena Race Ferrari Challenge.
- 36:20So Challenge Rad is a road version of the Challenge Car.
- 36:23He had two different ones.
- 36:24There's a green one in the collection and obviously the yellow one.
- 36:27He put a little bit of miles on those cars, but again, not many.
- 36:29Very, very few.
- 36:30We talk about the LA Ferraris, the Parata, and the coop again in unique colors.
- 36:35How rare are the colors on build numbers for those cars?
- 36:39They're both specked out spectacularly.
- 36:41They're both really, really unique.
- 36:42The two most unique cars, in my opinion, in the collection are
- 36:45obviously the 5 9 9 SA apta.
- 36:48The 5 9 9 GTO.
- 36:49But to your point, you know the car that you pointed out
- 36:51plus the 4 58 Fish Alley Upta.
- 36:54But towards the end, you know, like I said, I mentioned it
- 36:56when we were doing the video.
- 36:58He was kind of the pioneer on a lot of this stuff that went on.
- 37:01It was just really, really neat stuff that he did.
- 37:03The exact number of the Jalo, tri Strato, which is a triple layer paint,
- 37:08which is on the La Ferrari apta.
- 37:09They made 210 of those cars, that car's got the black interior.
- 37:13Obviously on the other car, on the La Ferrari, it was one of approximately
- 37:17500 produced, and they, uh, produced about 150 for the us But it's a
- 37:24super, super, super unique car.
- 37:26Really, really, really unique car.
- 37:28I mean they both are.
- 37:29To kind of wrap this up a little bit, you touched on the Ali apta
- 37:34and uh, the 16 M as well in value.
- 37:37Been crazy the past couple years just because the last natural aspect of
- 37:40V eight Sam, you guys have probably seen a lot of interest, I wanna
- 37:43say from a younger generation.
- 37:45You know, you're gonna have a lot more youthful interest in regards to
- 37:48these cars coming towards the end just because of how, you know, what they are.
- 37:52You guys anticipate, I don't wanna say younger, but different demographic
- 37:55going after maybe those cars.
- 37:57Yeah, a hundred percent.
- 37:58I mean, we're already seeing it too.
- 37:59And if the inquiries that we're having, obviously, you know, collecting
- 38:01cars is a, is a generational hobby.
- 38:03And you know, the folks, they're after nostalgia.
- 38:05What they remembered when they were young.
- 38:07When I mean young meaning when you started driving cars and you started getting into
- 38:10it and what you aspired to acquire, right?
- 38:12Or what you wish you could have, but you had no money.
- 38:14At the time, there's a lot of that going on.
- 38:17So definitely young in the down and, and by young, I mean, that could be,
- 38:19you know, thirties and forties young.
- 38:21I mean, there's not a lot of 18 year olds coming out of the
- 38:23woodwork for the cars, per se.
- 38:25Yeah, well there could be certainly with how the world works today.
- 38:28But yeah, definitely younger generations, you know, coming after these cars.
- 38:31I mean, myself personally, you know, I'm 47 or I don't think I'm 48 now.
- 38:35You know, the, the F forties, the two 80 GTO, you know, in high school, those
- 38:39were the ones I was drooling over.
- 38:40That's the, you know, I had a picture of a two 80 GTO on my wall
- 38:43in my room, you know, growing up.
- 38:44So.
- 38:44Don't do the trophy cards from my era.
- 38:46Right.
- 38:46So like, you know, guys in their, in their forties are coming at those
- 38:49things hard where, you know, even you get into the later model stuff
- 38:52and it just keeps getting younger.
- 38:53But in, you know, the one thing about Ferrari, whether it's the two 80 GTO
- 38:56or the 2019 TDF, whatever, anything in between, I mean, those cars really
- 39:00just transcend across all generations.
- 39:02Period.
- 39:02End of story.
- 39:03All the way back to, you know, even going back to that 67 alloy car I,
- 39:06the Ferrari brand is appreciated so much deeper than most that, and
- 39:10that's really interesting to me that.
- 39:11You know, the appreciation, whether you're 75 years old or 25 years old,
- 39:15I think it really runs the gamut.
- 39:17But to answer your question directly, we are absolutely seeing an influx of
- 39:20a slightly younger demographic coming in, getting ready to, to bid on these
- 39:23cars and to, like we were talking about earlier, I think it's gonna be a bit
- 39:26of a frenzy in the room and, and at the time, and, you know, whether, if
- 39:29you're not interested in buying them or you can't afford one just yet.
- 39:31To be there on site and watch this whole thing unfold is gonna
- 39:34be a spectacular spectacle.
- 39:35I agree.
- 39:36And on that note, we could talk for hours 'cause there's so many special
- 39:39cars in this collection, you know, not just the one we kind of went in depth on.
- 39:43I mean, it just, it's an unbelievable collection and you know, you don't have
- 39:46to be a purchaser or a buyer to enjoy this and especially be part of the action.
- 39:51You got the wherewithal you can get to me, kiss me in January.
- 39:54I think you definitely need to be there because.
- 39:57You're gonna have several hours of just Ferrari love going across that block
- 40:01and you're gonna see some great action.
- 40:03It's gonna be spectacular.
- 40:05I can't wait.
- 40:06I'm very, very excited for that.
- 40:07So I wanna thank you guys for coming on.
- 40:09I really appreciate that.
- 40:10We'll see you guys down and kiss me.
- 40:12I'm sure.
- 40:12Chris, you know we mentioned before he's gonna have a special guest potentially
- 40:15coming down there too, so we'll see.
- 40:17Bye guys.
- 40:17Thank you so much.
- 40:18I appreciate it.
- 40:19Thank you.
- 40:19Thank you.
- 40:20Take care.
