- 0:24Speaker 2: on the Global Credit Union Crack and Audio Network. Mike

- 0:29Speaker 2: is going to TV Land here for tonight. I'll be
- 0:32Speaker 2: with you and al Kiniski as well, along with andrews
- 0:34Speaker 2: hurstback at Network Central.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Coming up, we will.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Have more here from the Krack and their reaction from
- 0:40Speaker 2: two nights ago in a lost to Chicago and how
- 0:42Speaker 2: they can get this rope bat together with seven games
- 0:45Speaker 2: left in the regular season.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Everest conversation with me coming.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Up in just a bit against Chicago, they were down
- 0:52Speaker 2: two nothing until the bloodgates nearly opened in.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Period three eight.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Schwartz of the Corner and Fuck Bertley cat right on down,
- 1:00Speaker 4: rebound Taco score Coppo Cocko, right place, right time, The
- 1:11Speaker 4: Krack and.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Back down one five forty two.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Left in regulation.
- 1:16Speaker 4: All the best opportunities come below the dots on the
- 1:18Speaker 4: offensive end of the ice.
- 1:19Speaker 3: That's where this one starts.
- 1:21Speaker 4: Montor in the corner feet.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Catting with a great spot pass out to the top
- 1:25Speaker 3: of the circles.
- 1:26Speaker 5: He gets a shot on net and uh and Coco's
- 1:30Speaker 5: there to pick up the rebound.
- 1:31Speaker 3: He goes blocker side unto the bar.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Three two Chicago dowten, close but not close enough the
- 1:36Speaker 2: crack and fallow Chicago forward two the Crack and taking
- 1:40Speaker 2: two out of three meetings against the Blackhawks this season,
- 1:42Speaker 2: and yet see this climb up hill get a bit
- 1:45Speaker 2: steeper as they are six points out with seven games
- 1:49Speaker 2: to play in this regular season. Reaction here from after
- 1:51Speaker 2: the game with crackhet head coach Lane Lamber before we
- 1:54Speaker 2: get to ever.
- 1:54Speaker 5: Apitz not enough desperation. Uh didn't start the game well,
- 2:00Speaker 5: and our goaltender played fantastic for us. Too many quality
- 2:08Speaker 5: chances from them, and power play didn't give us anything,
- 2:17Speaker 5: and our penalty kill got scored on. So really not
- 2:23Speaker 5: a really really great assessment of the game, you know,
- 2:27Speaker 5: in a game that we needed, just wasn't good enough.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Brandon Montour used the word flat to describe kind of
- 2:36Speaker 2: how the team looked and felt.
- 2:37Speaker 3: I mean, how do you wrap your head around that.
- 2:42Speaker 5: I can't.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I can't.
- 2:48Speaker 5: A game of that magnitude to come out flat. Clearly,
- 2:53Speaker 5: the there's you know, there's something that has to change.
- 3:03Speaker 6: Even with the context of them just kind of coming
- 3:05Speaker 6: out flat. Why do you think it's been such a
- 3:07Speaker 6: struggle offensively for so many of the guys. Is it
- 3:10Speaker 6: a hesitation thing, Is it like a commitment thing? Like
- 3:13Speaker 6: what do you kind of see that.
- 3:14Speaker 5: I don't think there's a lot of confidence right now
- 3:16Speaker 5: in them, And so you know the old adages squeezing
- 3:20Speaker 5: your stick not really feeling it. Sometimes. I think it's
- 3:26Speaker 5: a situation where we're maybe trying too hard, you know.
- 3:32Speaker 5: But at the same time, I thought there was sometimes
- 3:34Speaker 5: tonight when we could have used a break here or there.
- 3:38Speaker 5: We had some opportunities we're just not getting. We're not
- 3:43Speaker 5: getting the timely goals right now to sort of turn
- 3:46Speaker 5: things around for us. But I just don't think it's
- 3:50Speaker 5: a lot of confidence with our hockey team right now. Obviously,
- 3:52Speaker 5: when you lose all these games, and certainly you know
- 3:55Speaker 5: it's inexcusable to lose all these games at home.
- 3:59Speaker 6: Obviously the players need to take some ownership of this,
- 4:02Speaker 6: and I think that they have. But how like, what
- 4:05Speaker 6: can be done to change that, to change that shift,
- 4:08Speaker 6: whether that's.
- 4:08Speaker 5: In the room or something else, You just got to
- 4:11Speaker 5: keep just got to keep harping on the right message.
- 4:14Speaker 5: There's a message there, it's a it's not the wrong message.
- 4:19Speaker 5: And you know, we've we've tried a few different things
- 4:23Speaker 5: to get our team going here, and you know, at
- 4:28Speaker 5: some point the message has to resonate completely. We're making
- 4:30Speaker 5: mistakes that we we shouldn't make. We're not moving pucks
- 4:35Speaker 5: quick enough right now, certainly not through the neutral zone anyway,
- 4:39Speaker 5: and then it doesn't allow us to establish our fuor check.
- 4:42Speaker 5: So you know, from a coaching standpoint, I got to
- 4:47Speaker 5: be better.
- 4:48Speaker 7: I'm solorius do it lane. From an excellent and O standpoint,
- 4:53Speaker 7: this late in the season, what what can you change
- 4:55Speaker 7: in order to try and generate some confidence and trying
- 4:59Speaker 7: to turn us around this time?
- 5:00Speaker 5: I think for me right now, it's not even about
- 5:02Speaker 5: x's and o's. It's about winning buck battles. We get
- 5:05Speaker 5: into the corner with teams and there's a scrum and
- 5:08Speaker 5: we're not the ones coming out with Buck, and it
- 5:10Speaker 5: happens over and over again. So I don't think it's
- 5:13Speaker 5: an x's and ose things thing. Necessarily. We are making
- 5:16Speaker 5: some mistakes, we're having some breakdowns, there's no question about it.
- 5:19Speaker 5: So you call that x's and o's, But I think
- 5:22Speaker 5: there's you know, there's a level of commitment and a
- 5:26Speaker 5: level of battle that we have to you know, we
- 5:30Speaker 5: have to we have to think about here and and
- 5:32Speaker 5: talk about moving forward.
- 5:34Speaker 7: Are you knowing the circumstances of what, especially these last
- 5:37Speaker 7: two games meant. Are you surprised by that lack of
- 5:45Speaker 7: fire or juice or or battle. I would just use
- 5:49Speaker 7: one word, I'm disappointed.
- 5:51Speaker 3: All right.
- 5:51Speaker 2: So here we are seven games to go in the
- 5:54Speaker 2: regular season, and it's back on the road as we
- 5:57Speaker 2: are in the Great White North.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Evera joins me once again, Fitch, you're ready for TV land.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Oh yeah, TV's always fun. It's I'll miss you guys
- 6:05Speaker 4: over on radio, but it's it's a different challenge, but
- 6:09Speaker 4: just hoping that I can hold down the fort. It's
- 6:11Speaker 4: kind of a rarity because you're on radio. I'm on
- 6:15Speaker 4: KHN and then Johnny is over right next door doing
- 6:19Speaker 4: the Amazon game. So it's a cracking broadcast.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Takeover broadcasting that as three of a kinder. It's gonna
- 6:24Speaker 2: be a fun one here. But matters are getting more
- 6:26Speaker 2: serious for this hockey team with seven games to play
- 6:29Speaker 2: after losing to Chicago four two and a bit of
- 6:31Speaker 2: a different feel, I think. And Andrews and I talked
- 6:34Speaker 2: about this as compared to Thursday night where the Cracking
- 6:38Speaker 2: geared it up early and then just slipped way off
- 6:40Speaker 2: the tracks against Utah. But it just took them way
- 6:43Speaker 2: too long to get it going before the third period.
- 6:46Speaker 2: You saw signs of light, but unfortunately too little and
- 6:48Speaker 2: too late.
- 6:49Speaker 4: Yeah, we talked about that during the game too, Alan
- 6:51Speaker 4: I did, and I feel like I've said this quite
- 6:54Speaker 4: a bit on the air. In the last handful of games,
- 6:57Speaker 4: the Kracking they had something, but it just wasn't enough.
- 7:00Speaker 4: In the last couple of weeks for this hockey team.
- 7:03Speaker 4: It just hasn't been enough enough execution, enough shot volume,
- 7:08Speaker 4: enough offense enough from your goaltenders. Right there just hasn't
- 7:13Speaker 4: been enough consistently. And I mean, you know, I go
- 7:17Speaker 4: back to a couple of weeks ago, Brandon Montour, I
- 7:21Speaker 4: think it was the Tampa game, the Tampa game here
- 7:23Speaker 4: at home where he said the other team just wanted
- 7:25Speaker 4: it more than we did, and there was there's been
- 7:28Speaker 4: a lot of that over the last couple of weeks.
- 7:30Speaker 4: And to hear, you know, your vets and your players
- 7:33Speaker 4: say the other team wanted it more than we did
- 7:36Speaker 4: at game seventy at game seventy five, you know, you
- 7:41Speaker 4: commend the guys I think for ownership and for taking
- 7:44Speaker 4: that over and saying, hey, we need to be better,
- 7:47Speaker 4: but you can't be having, you know, a need for
- 7:51Speaker 4: more this late in the season if you want to
- 7:53Speaker 4: be a playoff team.
- 7:54Speaker 2: And well, also I think goes along with that is
- 7:57Speaker 2: that Lane Lambert was the first among the first two
- 8:00Speaker 2: take accountability under his own umbrella after two nights ago,
- 8:03Speaker 2: where he said, as a coach, I've got to be better.
- 8:06Speaker 2: But also essentially he is setting an example.
- 8:08Speaker 4: He really is, And I think, you know, this is
- 8:11Speaker 4: one of those things where you look at Lane Lambert,
- 8:12Speaker 4: the coaching isn't the issue. You know. A couple of
- 8:15Speaker 4: weeks ago, I remember Lane told talk to us in
- 8:17Speaker 4: our one on one and he said, we need to
- 8:19Speaker 4: be better at the team, at the things that don't
- 8:22Speaker 4: require talent, It doesn't require talent to work hard. It
- 8:26Speaker 4: doesn't require talent to win puck battles, to not be
- 8:29Speaker 4: slow through the neutral zone, to win a battle along
- 8:33Speaker 4: the wall in the corners. Those are things that I
- 8:35Speaker 4: think the Crack can have been beat to a lot,
- 8:38Speaker 4: and Layl Lambert even alluded to as much. You know,
- 8:40Speaker 4: I think it was Darren Brown who asked him, you know,
- 8:42Speaker 4: how do you reconcile this game? What you know, how
- 8:46Speaker 4: do you you go back and look at this game?
- 8:48Speaker 4: And he goes, I can't, like I have I got nothing,
- 8:51Speaker 4: I'm out you know what I mean, and that it's
- 8:54Speaker 4: that frustration because the way this team played from three
- 8:59Speaker 4: points out of a first place spot in the specific
- 9:02Speaker 4: division fifteen games ago. Sixteen games ago, you're three points
- 9:06Speaker 4: out to now with a point eight percent chance to
- 9:09Speaker 4: make the playoffs. Yes, mathematically you're not out of it,
- 9:12Speaker 4: but I mean, this has been a very disappointing stretch
- 9:15Speaker 4: and everyone's owning it, from the coach all the way
- 9:18Speaker 4: down to you know, the extra skaters. But this is
- 9:23Speaker 4: something that you know, it needs to be studied. You
- 9:27Speaker 4: know what led to this collapse here in the last
- 9:30Speaker 4: three weeks of the season.
- 9:31Speaker 2: We'll see how the lines shake out here for today
- 9:33Speaker 2: in this final matchup against the Jets. But one thing's
- 9:35Speaker 2: for certain this matchup. Favorite Copocaco, playing some great hockey,
- 9:39Speaker 2: five goals away from a career high, has got to
- 9:41Speaker 2: make a massive push to get to eighteen I think
- 9:43Speaker 2: here for this last part of the season, but nine
- 9:45Speaker 2: points also in the last nine row games.
- 9:47Speaker 3: That's topster for the cracking and road scoring.
- 9:49Speaker 4: Yeah it is. And I think a guy like Coppocaco
- 9:52Speaker 4: you're seeing. You know what the Kraken got from the Rangers.
- 9:57Speaker 4: You know when they traded wilborgan uh To to New
- 10:00Speaker 4: York for Coco last season, you were hoping that he
- 10:03Speaker 4: was going to find that first round pick for him,
- 10:05Speaker 4: and I think by all intents and purposes he has.
- 10:07Speaker 4: He's signed to an extension, so he's going to be
- 10:10Speaker 4: a part of this core for a very long time.
- 10:12Speaker 4: And I think he is one of the guys that
- 10:15Speaker 4: you're looking to step up and lead offensively. And Laye
- 10:18Speaker 4: Lambert has said it multiple times. You know the fourth
- 10:21Speaker 4: line has been playing so well, but we need more
- 10:23Speaker 4: from our top nine to forward group. There was a
- 10:25Speaker 4: stretch where that top line the McCann everly Benier's line
- 10:28Speaker 4: had been playing so well. I need more from my
- 10:31Speaker 4: middle six forward groups. And I think now you're seeing
- 10:34Speaker 4: Coppocaco finding the offense, but you're also looking elsewhere to
- 10:38Speaker 4: pick up the offense as well. So for Copocaco, this
- 10:40Speaker 4: has been a great end of the season for him,
- 10:43Speaker 4: and I think, you know, if the Kraken can't make
- 10:45Speaker 4: the playoffs, this is going to be a really good
- 10:48Speaker 4: springboard for him into his summer and then to start
- 10:52Speaker 4: next season hitting the ground running.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Winnepegas fought their way back into this playoff that's coming
- 10:57Speaker 2: off a win over Columbus, and it seems like whenever
- 10:59Speaker 2: we talk about these guys and play by play calls,
- 11:02Speaker 2: it's going to be basically a lot of Kyle o'
- 11:04Speaker 2: connor and Mark Steifelee out of our mouths. They have
- 11:07Speaker 2: combined to be on the score sheets sixty times this season.
- 11:10Speaker 2: No other duo has done that in the NHL this year.
- 11:13Speaker 4: Yeah, this game is always one of my favorites of
- 11:16Speaker 4: the season. I love the way that Winnipeg plays. I
- 11:19Speaker 4: like watching them, I like calling them. They're an exciting team.
- 11:23Speaker 4: I like coming to Winnipeg because the building staff is
- 11:26Speaker 4: just so darn nice as well. This is a very
- 11:28Speaker 4: nice city. But you know, I think, you know, I
- 11:31Speaker 4: go back to the game the Cracking played here earlier
- 11:33Speaker 4: in the season where they had that three nothing shut
- 11:35Speaker 4: out and it was one nothing going into the final
- 11:38Speaker 4: what two and a half minutes of the game, the
- 11:40Speaker 4: Crack and got a couple of empty netters. These team,
- 11:43Speaker 4: these games against the Winnipeg Jets have always been a battle,
- 11:46Speaker 4: and I think if you're the Kracking, We've said this
- 11:48Speaker 4: a lot. You needed to beat Chicago didn't happen, You
- 11:50Speaker 4: needed to beat you know, other teams didn't happen. But
- 11:53Speaker 4: I think for the Crack, and I mean, if you
- 11:55Speaker 4: want to keep that slim playoff window the least bit cracked,
- 11:59Speaker 4: if you want this room to stay a little bit
- 12:02Speaker 4: more drafty, you gotta win this game against Winnipeg here today.
- 12:06Speaker 4: And I mean there's no excuses, and you can't afford
- 12:08Speaker 4: to come out flat. I mean against the Chicago team
- 12:11Speaker 4: that was eliminated from the playoff, has been eliminated from
- 12:13Speaker 4: playoff contention, You came into that game the other night
- 12:17Speaker 4: a little bit flat. You know that Alan and I
- 12:19Speaker 4: were talking that you needed to exercise some Demons that
- 12:23Speaker 4: needed to be the Vancouver game from a couple of
- 12:25Speaker 4: weeks ago. That needed to be a statement win, and
- 12:28Speaker 4: the Kraken didn't get that. So tonight against a team
- 12:31Speaker 4: that year, you're gonna have to leap frog, you know.
- 12:34Speaker 4: The Cracketer now in play and pray territory where they
- 12:37Speaker 4: got to play their game and then they got to
- 12:39Speaker 4: pray for help above them. And that's the worst position
- 12:42Speaker 4: to be in. Coaches and players love to say, we
- 12:44Speaker 4: can only control what we can control, but now the
- 12:47Speaker 4: cracket are having to depend on other teams. But if
- 12:50Speaker 4: you don't win this game, I mean, then you're you're
- 12:53Speaker 4: out of it.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Okay, port of seeing get after it.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Winter is on and Slash stand here in Winnipeg fitzme
- 12:58Speaker 2: or booth b war Oh.
- 12:59Speaker 3: I can't wait, everet fits you joining us.
- 13:01Speaker 2: This is all the time we got here once again,
- 13:03Speaker 2: face offs at four thirty airtime ZIP four. Talk to
- 13:06Speaker 2: you later on today Big banking it Everet fits you.
- 13:09Speaker 2: I'm Mike Betting for Kracking this morning. Enjoy the game.
