Transcript
- 0:13- Welcome to the divine five fifteen
- 0:16- podcast. Here is this week's devotional.
- 0:21- Hello, and welcome to daily prayers with Valerie
- 0:23- Rocha.
- 0:25- We are continuing our letting go series
- 0:29- by addressing what to do when God is
- 0:31- asking you to move on.
- 0:34- Scripture text comes from forty three eighteen
- 0:37- through 19 and says, forget the former things.
- 0:40- Do not dwell on the past.
- 0:42- See,
- 0:43- I am doing a new thing.
- 0:46- Well, we're gonna start this conversation today by
- 0:49- saying that sometimes we're asking God to restore
- 0:51- something
- 0:52- he's asking us to release.
- 0:56- Sometimes it's a relationship
- 0:58- or an opportunity,
- 1:00- an old version of ourselves,
- 1:02- a plan we were certain would work,
- 1:05- or even a season that was once good.
- 1:09- And because it mattered to us, moving forward,
- 1:12- can feel like we're dishonoring what was.
- 1:17- And
- 1:18- because of it, familiarity
- 1:20- doesn't necessarily
- 1:21- mean fruitful.
- 1:23- We're creatures of habit, so we hold on
- 1:25- to old seasons because we know them.
- 1:29- And the next season requires faith because we
- 1:32- don't know what it will look like yet.
- 1:36- But
- 1:37- we can become so focused on what God
- 1:39- did then
- 1:41- that we fail to recognize what he's doing
- 1:45- now.
- 1:46- Now I'd like to also add here that
- 1:50- God is always moving
- 1:53- and he's always doing something
- 1:56- behind the scenes.
- 1:58- That's where the faith comes in. And because
- 2:01- we're part of him, we should be moving
- 2:04- to
- 2:06- The key is we wanna be sure that
- 2:08- we're moving in the right direction.
- 2:11- Now
- 2:12- prayer allows us to honor what was while
- 2:15- surrendering what is over, and this can be
- 2:18- kind of grievous.
- 2:19- I mean, let's face it.
- 2:22- We can get
- 2:24- so comfortable
- 2:25- that letting go can be quite painful,
- 2:29- but we can thank God for the people,
- 2:32- the opportunities,
- 2:34- lessons, and experiences of previous season
- 2:38- as how trying to live there permanently.
- 2:42- Sometimes our prayer needs to change from God,
- 2:45- bring it back to
- 2:48- father, help me recognize what you're doing. And
- 2:50- now
- 2:53- now letting go doesn't erase the past.
- 2:57- It simply stops the past from determining the
- 3:00- future.
- 3:02- That being said,
- 3:04- let's pray.
- 3:06- Heavenly father, thank you for every season you've
- 3:10- used to shape us.
- 3:12- Give us discernment
- 3:13- to recognize
- 3:15- when something has ended
- 3:17- and courage to move forward without fear.
- 3:21- Father, help us release what was and remain
- 3:24- attentive
- 3:25- to what you are doing now,
- 3:27- and we will bless you in Jesus' name.
- 3:31- This week's challenge is
- 3:34- to present God with the question of, am
- 3:36- I holding onto something you've already asked me
- 3:39- to release?
- 3:41- Now it's easy
- 3:43- to do
- 3:45- if you apply it
- 3:48- with intentionality,
- 3:49- or maybe it won't be easy
- 3:52- because it sounds easier to say than it
- 3:54- is to do, but do it anyway.
- 3:57- Don't rush the answer
- 3:59- and don't
- 4:01- walk through seasons of transition alone.
- 4:04- The inner chamber community provides a place for
- 4:07- prayer,
- 4:08- encouragement, and connection
- 4:10- with others who are growing in their walk
- 4:12- with God just like you.
- 4:15- We'd like to invite you to join us

- 4:19- forward slash free.
- 4:21- And if you know someone navigating
- 4:23- transition,
- 4:25- share this episode with them.
- 4:27- Sometimes moving forward begins with knowing we're not
- 4:30- alone.
- 4:31- And until next time,
- 4:34- release yesterday
- 4:35- and stay open to what God is doing
- 4:38- today.
