- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Real Talk with Mike D. All right. Welcome
- 0:06Speaker 1: back to Real Talk with Mike D. I am Mike D.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Happy Wednesday. Good morning. Yeah, I said it. Good morning.
- 0:18Speaker 1: And you know what? Sometimes those two words can mean
- 0:21Speaker 1: a whole lot more than we realize. Welcome back to
- 0:24Speaker 1: Real Talk with Mike D, where we say what we
- 0:26Speaker 1: mean and mean what we say. Today we're talking about
- 0:30Speaker 1: something incredibly simple, saying good morning. Now you might be thinking, Mike, seriously?
- 0:36Speaker 1: A whole podcast about saying good morning? Absolutely. Because sometimes
- 0:41Speaker 1: the smallest things we do can make the biggest difference
- 0:44Speaker 1: in someone else's day. Think about it. You woke up.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Maybe you didn't sleep well. Maybe you're tired. Maybe you're
- 0:52Speaker 1: stressed about money. Maybe you've got work waiting for you.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Maybe you're dealing with family problems. Or maybe you're just
- 1:00Speaker 1: not feeling it today. And then somebody walks into the
- 1:03Speaker 1: room and says, good morning. Not because everything is perfect.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Not because life suddenly got easier. But because they're choosing
- 1:11Speaker 1: to acknowledge you. They're saying, I see you. And sometimes
- 1:16Speaker 1: that's enough to get the day started. Now there's something
- 1:20Speaker 1: about a genuine good morning. Not the automatic half-asleep, yeah, morning.
- 1:27Speaker 1: I'm talking about actually looking at somebody and saying, good morning,
- 1:30Speaker 1: how are you doing? That's different. That's a connection. And
- 1:36Speaker 1: in a world where everybody seems to be staring at
- 1:38Speaker 1: their phones, rushing from one thing to another, and worrying
- 1:42Speaker 1: about what's coming next, taking five seconds to acknowledge another
- 1:46Speaker 1: human being matters. You never know what somebody is going through,
- 1:50Speaker 1: the person at the gas station, the cashier at the store,
- 1:55Speaker 1: your coworker, your neighbor, your spouse, or your friend. Maybe
- 2:01Speaker 1: that person woke up having the worst morning of their life.
- 2:05Speaker 1: And then you say, good morning. You might not fix
- 2:08Speaker 1: their problem, but maybe you gave them one positive moment.
- 2:13Speaker 1: And sometimes one positive moment is all somebody needs. Now,
- 2:19Speaker 1: let's be real. Not every morning is good. Sometimes you
- 2:23Speaker 1: wake up and think, I don't want to deal with
- 2:25Speaker 1: anybody today. You know those mornings, your alarm goes off,
- 2:29Speaker 1: you hit snooze, it goes off again, you hit snooze again,
- 2:33Speaker 1: and eventually you're looking at the clock thinking, oh, you've
- 2:37Speaker 1: got to be kidding me. Then you get out of bed,
- 2:41Speaker 1: get your first cup of coffee, take a shower, listen
- 2:45Speaker 1: to the news, get ready for work, pay the bills,
- 2:48Speaker 1: you know, responsibilities. And somewhere along the way, you're thinking,
- 2:54Speaker 1: I just want to shut everything off. That's where our
- 2:58Speaker 1: musical reference for today's show comes in. The Ramones had
- 3:02Speaker 1: a famous song, I Want to Be Sedated. And if
- 3:05Speaker 1: you've ever had one of those crazy overwhelming days, you
- 3:08Speaker 1: probably understand that feeling behind that title. Sometimes life gets
- 3:14Speaker 1: so loud that you just want everything to stop for
- 3:16Speaker 1: a minute. But here's the thing. Maybe instead of trying
- 3:20Speaker 1: to escape the entire day, we just need to take
- 3:23Speaker 1: the day one moment at a time. One cup of coffee...
- 3:28Speaker 1: One conversation, one breath, and one good morning. All right. Well,
- 3:36Speaker 1: I hope that inspired you this morning. I hope that
- 3:39Speaker 1: made you feel good. And lastly, I hope you have
- 3:42Speaker 1: a wonderful Wednesday. We're halfway through the week. The holiday
- 3:45Speaker 1: weekend is coming up, and it's time to P-A-R-T-Y, party! Anyhow,
- 3:53Speaker 1: thank you for listening. Thank you for being here, and
- 3:55Speaker 1: I greatly appreciate it. And I hope you all have
- 3:58Speaker 1: a wonderful day. Peace.
