- 1:17All right, guys.
- 1:18So the master topic for this whole week
- 1:20for our show 15 is how to rise
- 1:24into what's next into your life.
- 1:28And I know that can sound a little
- 1:29daunting.
- 1:30OK, definitely can sound a little daunting.
- 1:33I realize that.
- 1:34So I'm John C.
- 1:35Morley.
- 1:36I'm a serial entrepreneur, I'm an engineer, I'm
- 1:38a marketing specialist, video producer, podcast host, coach,
- 1:42keynote speaker, graduate student, a passionate lifelong learner,
- 1:45and soon to be a published author.
- 1:48And I think a lot of times people,
- 1:52you know, they get they get confused about,
- 1:56you know, what's happening in their life or
- 1:57or why things are happening a certain way.
- 2:00I think that's a I think that's an
- 2:02important thing that most people like this.
- 2:04They just don't realize they don't realize that
- 2:07whole concept.
- 2:08They don't realize, you know, what it means
- 2:11to people and how it can affect their
- 2:13lives.
- 2:14And I think a lot of things like
- 2:16that.
- 2:16So I think that's something that, you know,
- 2:18we definitely want to focus on and get
- 2:20everyone to be familiar with.
- 2:23But I want to tell you that, you
- 2:26know, it's important to understand, you know, like
- 2:30I said, what's going on in your life,
- 2:32because a lot of times people, you know,
- 2:37they just don't get it.
- 2:41But it's something you can easily understand.
- 2:46And so what I want to share with
- 2:48you is, is that sometimes it's just looking
- 2:52around the corner, right?
- 2:54It's looking around the corner to just being
- 2:56a little bit further, you know, than you
- 2:59were before.
- 3:00And I think that's a hard thing for
- 3:01a lot of people, you know, to understand.
- 3:05They misalign things, they don't get why things
- 3:09are working a certain way or, or why
- 3:11they're not working a certain way.
- 3:13But the good news, guys, is that you
- 3:15can actually change this stuff in your life.
- 3:18Yeah, you can change this stuff.
- 3:20So as I said, we're all about how
- 3:21to rise into what's next in your life.
- 3:23And, you know, that's a very important thing
- 3:28to understand.
- 3:30And I think when we hear these things,
- 3:34we sometimes, I don't know, we get a
- 3:36little bit, let's say, perplexed about what can
- 3:41go on and you know, what should go
- 3:43on.
- 3:44But I want to tell you guys that
- 3:46it's all about choices in your life.
- 3:49Okay?
- 3:49It's about choices, because without these choices, guys,
- 3:54you really can't go anywhere.
- 3:57You can't do the things that you want
- 3:59to do.
- 4:00And that may sound hard for a lot
- 4:04of people.
- 4:05Okay.
- 4:07And so I know a lot of you're
- 4:09saying to me, John, you know, this doesn't
- 4:10make sense to me.
- 4:12I understand it doesn't make sense to you.
- 4:14I get it.
- 4:16But what I want to tell you is
- 4:17that there is a lot you don't understand.
- 4:22And what you don't understand is that change
- 4:25can happen, well, basically, immediately.
- 4:29But if you're not ready for this change,
- 4:32then how is it ever going to affect
- 4:33you?
- 4:34Okay?
- 4:35That's the big thing I want to say.
- 4:40I think sometimes, you know, we look for
- 4:42the answers in other people, but the real
- 4:44answers have to be found in ourselves.
- 4:47They have to be found in ourselves.
- 4:50And when we can find these answers in
- 4:52ourselves, we're like, well, you know what, this
- 4:54makes sense.
- 4:54I get where this is coming from.
- 4:56I know what I'm doing now.
- 4:57And I understand my purpose.
- 4:59Right?
- 5:00And I think that can be hard for
- 5:01a lot of people to, you know, to
- 5:03really understand that.
- 5:06So tonight's brain was, you've been chasing the
- 5:11wrong things entire life.
- 5:13Sorry to say that, guys.
- 5:14Wake up call.
- 5:15You've been chasing the wrong things your entire
- 5:18life.
- 5:18So run toward what is real.
- 5:22And I think when you realize that, you'll
- 5:24be like, I think there's real probability in
- 5:28my life that I can do something.
- 5:29You're not stuck, guys.
- 5:31You've been chasing what isn't real.
- 5:33The moment you turn toward truth, everything begins
- 5:38to change.
- 5:40Sometimes it doesn't change all at once.
- 5:42It changes slowly.
- 5:44Number one, guys, truth deserves urgency.
- 5:47What is real will not wait forever for
- 5:51you to notice it.
- 5:52It might just pass you by.
- 5:55And that hurts a lot of people, right?
- 5:57Number two, stop strolling past your purpose.
- 6:00Hesitation quietly steals your future.
- 6:04So be mindful of that.
- 6:06Number three, guys, run toward clarity.
- 6:09Confusion disappears the moment you take action.
- 6:13The moment.
- 6:15Number four, curiosity changes outcomes.
- 6:20Better questions unlock better lives.
- 6:23Better questions, better answers, better lives.
- 6:28Success.
- 6:30Number five, verify before you assume.
- 6:34Assumptions keep you stuck in false realities.
- 6:38They really do.
- 6:40So don't assume anything.
- 6:42Number six, guys, fast honesty beats slow denial.
- 6:49Truth moves you forward immediately.
- 6:53There's no waiting.
- 6:54You just are there.
- 6:58Some people aren't ready for the truth.
- 7:00Number seven, guys, go see for yourself.
- 7:05Real understanding requires direct experience.
- 7:11Number eight, reality rewards attention.
- 7:15What you focus on shapes your direction.
- 7:19Chase what matters, not the noise.
- 7:22Number nine, distractions are designed to derail you.
- 7:26Yep, they sure are.
- 7:29And when they derail you, it's like, oh
- 7:30my gosh, what am I going to do
- 7:31now?
- 7:31I don't know where I'm going, what I'm
- 7:33doing, or what I was even trying to
- 7:36accomplish.
- 7:37Number 10, guys, seek facts over fantasy.
- 7:44Seek facts over fantasy.
- 7:48I think that's hard for a lot of
- 7:50people to realize, but it's the truth.
- 7:56Okay.
- 7:57When we get that, then we're able to
- 8:00move forward.
- 8:01And not before that point, guys.
- 8:04Not before that point.
- 8:07So seek facts over fantasy.
- 8:09Truth builds results.
- 8:11Illusion builds regret.
- 8:13Number 10, have you ever watched a magician
- 8:16or an illusionist and you actually learn how
- 8:21the trick is done?
- 8:23The illusion just sort of dissipates, like having
- 8:27no more value, because now you know the
- 8:30truth.
- 8:32Number 11, guys, real answers require movement.
- 8:36Clarity is earned.
- 8:37It's never handed to you.
- 8:38Even though I know people want to hand
- 8:40it to us, it's never handed to us.
- 8:41And I think that's an important thing to
- 8:43understand.
- 8:45Number 12, guys, stop waiting for secondhand certainty.
- 8:49Your life demands firsthand action.
- 8:51So why are you waiting for secondhand certainty?
- 8:54It's never going to come.
- 8:56And by you waiting, you know what you're
- 8:57going to do?
- 8:57You're going to cause something called procrastination.
- 9:03Procrastination can be a challenge to some people,
- 9:08but it keeps us stuck.
- 9:11When we realize we're procrastinating, we could do
- 9:14something about it.
- 9:14We could change it and we can actually
- 9:16stop procrastinating.
- 9:17We could stop delaying.
- 9:19We can make the decision.
- 9:20We could take the action today.
- 9:23Number 13, run toward the evidence.
- 9:27Truth always leaves clues for those willing to
- 9:31look.
- 9:33Now, some people aren't willing to look.
- 9:35Some people don't want to know the truth.
- 9:38And for those, well, there's a difference, a
- 9:42difference that I think a lot of people
- 9:44don't realize.
- 9:46The truth will always set you free.
- 9:48Number 14, guys, discovery belongs to the engaged.
- 9:53Passive people stay exactly where they are, lost,
- 9:58behind, stopped, or even going backwards.
- 10:07Number 15, guys, empty stories collapse under truth.
- 10:12Reality always exposes what is false.
- 10:16It might not happen today.
- 10:17It might not happen tomorrow.
- 10:19It might not happen this week or even
- 10:20this month or even this year.
- 10:22But when we know the truth, okay, reality
- 10:30changes and shows us what is false.
- 10:38And you might be saying to me, John,
- 10:39well, I know this is true.
- 10:41Well, if you know what's true, then why
- 10:43wouldn't you investigate it if you were unsure?
- 10:51Number 16, look closer before deciding.
- 10:58Depth reveals what surface hides.
- 11:00Let's talk about the, let's say the icebergs.
- 11:06The icebergs start at the top, right?
- 11:08The tip of the iceberg.
- 11:10The very bottom is the real crest of
- 11:12the iceberg.
- 11:13The heart of it.
- 11:15But most people don't see that.
- 11:17They just see the tip of the iceberg.
- 11:20The depth shows us the real surface to
- 11:23what is seeming to be hidden from just
- 11:29a surface layer.
- 11:30Number 17, what is real can handle scrutiny.
- 11:36Truth does not break under pressure.
- 11:38Nope.
- 11:40When you know the truth and you're sure
- 11:45that's true, it will guide you and hold
- 11:50you all the way through.
- 11:52But if your foundation is shaky or there
- 11:55is a possibility or probability that this might
- 11:58not be factual, it's going to blow up
- 12:01in your face later on, unfortunately.
- 12:04So we always want to operate on truth,
- 12:06guys.
- 12:07That is the moral here.
- 12:08Always operate on truth.
- 12:10Truth is sometimes harder.
- 12:12Sometimes truth is not always what we want
- 12:16to hear.
- 12:17But if we know the truth going forward,
- 12:20then we won't have surprises to something that
- 12:23we thought was real.
- 12:25Number 18, guys, questions are not weakness.
- 12:29They are the beginning of our power, our
- 12:33evolution for knowledge.
- 12:36A wise person once said to me, John,
- 12:38you know, ask good questions, you'll get great
- 12:41answers.
- 12:43Ask bad questions, you'll get bad answers.
- 12:47Now, whenever you go to a seminar, most
- 12:48people always say there's no bad or stupid
- 12:52questions.
- 12:52When I do keynotes, they always tell me
- 12:54there's no bad questions, there's no bad things
- 12:57they can ask me.
- 12:58But in reality, if you ask me something
- 13:01that doesn't align to what I'm talking about,
- 13:04it's probably not going to help you understand
- 13:07where I'm going.
- 13:07It's not going to help you get further
- 13:10on your path, either.
- 13:12Number 19, guys, direct experience changes belief.
- 13:18Seeing transforms everything.
- 13:21When we see something, we transform from one
- 13:27thing to another.
- 13:27And you might say to me, John, you
- 13:28know, that sounds easy, but I don't know
- 13:33if it makes sense to me.
- 13:35I don't know if that really can happen
- 13:37or not.
- 13:40So direct experience changes our belief.
- 13:44Seeing, experiencing transforms everything.
- 13:49Besides our belief, it changes our whole mental
- 13:54outlook.
- 13:55It changes our perceptions.
- 13:58Our perceptions become our reality.
- 14:03Number 20, guys, stop guessing and go learn.
- 14:09Action replaces doubt with certainty.
- 14:12Stop guessing.
- 14:14Go learn and understand that that choice and
- 14:20making that action will replace any doubt you
- 14:22have with true certainty.
- 14:26I think the reason some people don't want
- 14:28to go learn, I don't want to say
- 14:29they're lazy, but they feel comfortable not having
- 14:34to tax their brain.
- 14:35But taxing our brain is fun.
- 14:38It actually gets us to be more involved.
- 14:44And it creates an experience that so many
- 14:50will never even get the chance to even
- 14:52ponder, let alone be part of.
- 14:56Number 21, guys, truth turns panic into power.
- 15:01Clarity creates control.
- 15:04So truth turns panic into power.
- 15:08Clarity creates control.
- 15:10When we know the truth about something, all
- 15:13the worry, all the fear, all those doubts,
- 15:16they get squashed.
- 15:19And we get that quiet power of clarity,
- 15:24which gives us a sense of control, relief,
- 15:29understanding.
- 15:33Some people don't want the truth because they
- 15:36know that if they hear the truth, it's
- 15:38not what they want to hear.
- 15:41And if you're trying to stay away from
- 15:43truth because it's not something you want to
- 15:44hear, you're going to be disappointed.
- 15:49Maybe not today, but down the road.
- 15:52And that could backfire in your face.
- 15:56And you're like, well, where did this come
- 15:57from?
- 15:58It came from the fact that you wanted
- 16:00to stick it under a rug to hide
- 16:09it.
- 16:12Number 22, guys, speed matters.
- 16:15When clarity calls our name, delay distorts what
- 16:19is real.
- 16:19When we get that inspiration to take that
- 16:22action, if we delay taking the action, we
- 16:34mutilate what is real.
- 16:38We change a perception that was real into
- 16:41something that isn't even close to what's true.
- 16:48And all these things sound very daunting to
- 16:54people because when you hear about something and
- 16:59the floor is going to fall out, you're
- 17:03like, well, now what do I do?
- 17:05I had all that trust in that person.
- 17:07I had all that trust in that concept.
- 17:08And now the floor just fell out, right?
- 17:12What happens if you'd be dealing with, I'll
- 17:15use the example of a stockbroker, for example.
- 17:17And all of a sudden, you go to
- 17:20that stockbroker and they're not there anymore.
- 17:28What happened?
- 17:31Now they're part of a large firm.
- 17:32Maybe they moved you to another person.
- 17:33But if it wasn't a large firm and
- 17:36they invested your money and now they're not
- 17:37around, that's a big problem.
- 17:43We always have to do our due diligence
- 17:45before we do certain things like investing, et
- 17:47cetera.
- 17:48It's not to panic us.
- 17:50It's to make sure that we're involved in
- 17:53truth and not perception of it.
- 17:57I think that's an important thing to understand.
- 18:01Number 23, guys, urgency is useful when it's
- 18:04aimed well.
- 18:07Focused action creates momentum.
- 18:09Let me say that again.
- 18:10Our focused action, like a laser beam, creates
- 18:14momentum.
- 18:16Not taking a beam and just kind of
- 18:18waving it all over the place, that's going
- 18:22to do nothing.
- 18:26If it's a real laser beam, it's going
- 18:27to create a whole bunch of holes.
- 18:32If it's a light beam, it's not going
- 18:33to do too much.
- 18:35So urgency is useful when it's aimed well.
- 18:40Focused action creates momentum.
- 18:43What does this mean?
- 18:44The more we focus, the further we will
- 18:48go without even putting more effort in.
- 18:50It's just the fact that we have chosen
- 18:52to focus consistently.
- 18:55You know what this reminds me of?
- 18:56Have you ever gone to the boardwalk?
- 18:58They have these clowns, and they put these
- 19:03balloons on the top of the clown's head,
- 19:06and you take the water gun and you
- 19:08aim it in the clown's mouth.
- 19:09If you're aiming consistently and keeping that water
- 19:14gun in the center of the clown's mouth,
- 19:18you're going to get the most water in
- 19:20the clown and get your balloon to pop
- 19:22before anyone else's.
- 19:24But if you're missing the clown and you're
- 19:25not getting quite in the mouth all the
- 19:27time, well, then you're going to miss and
- 19:30someone else's balloon is going to pop before
- 19:31yours does.
- 19:32I'm sure you've been familiar with that.
- 19:35Number 24, guys.
- 19:37Let evidence lead emotion.
- 19:41Facts stabilize your direction.
- 19:44When we have clear facts, we can make
- 19:47a choice.
- 19:49Do we go left?
- 19:50Do we go right?
- 19:52Do we invest?
- 19:53Do we not invest?
- 19:55Do we trust this person?
- 19:56Do we not trust this person?
- 20:00Evidence is key.
- 20:05Let evidence lead emotion.
- 20:10Facts stabilize your decision.
- 20:11So never make your decision on emotion.
- 20:17Allow the facts, the data, the quantum to
- 20:21spearhead the direction that you choose to take.
- 20:26Number 25, guys.
- 20:27Move toward what can be known.
- 20:30Certainty grows through pursuit and action that we
- 20:34take.
- 20:36It doesn't happen by sitting on the couch.
- 20:38It doesn't happen by being passive.
- 20:41It doesn't happen by just thinking.
- 20:44No, we have to take that inspired action
- 20:48to create change in our life.
- 20:53Number 26, guys.
- 20:56Investigation sharpens our wisdom.
- 20:59Searching builds our strengths.
- 21:02So when we investigate something, we become more
- 21:06intelligent about that situation.
- 21:10And the searching builds our fortress.
- 21:15It builds our foundation on that topic.
- 21:19But so many people just want to flap
- 21:21their mouth about things, and they don't want
- 21:24to research.
- 21:26Because it takes time.
- 21:28It takes effort.
- 21:29And a lot of people are lazy, unfortunately.
- 21:33Number 27, guys.
- 21:35The search changes the seeker.
- 21:40You will evolve through the truth you discover.
- 21:46So the process of searching changes the one,
- 21:53quote unquote, the seeker.
- 21:55You evolve through the truth that you discover.
- 22:01And even though the truth might be completely
- 22:03different than what someone else is saying, when
- 22:05you discover it firsthand, first person, you believe
- 22:12it.
- 22:13When somebody else tells you something, maybe they're
- 22:16a trusted person, and you believe them.
- 22:18But maybe in this situation, you don't think
- 22:22it's true.
- 22:23So you have a little bit of doubt.
- 22:26So maybe I should do this experiment.
- 22:27Maybe I should research it myself.
- 22:29And then when that discovery turns out to
- 22:32be the opposite of what the other person
- 22:35was saying, you lose confidence and trust in
- 22:39that person.
- 22:43That's important.
- 22:45So the search changes the seeker.
- 22:48And you always evolve through truth.
- 22:51Now, it might not be a once and
- 22:54done.
- 22:54It might take you time to build up
- 22:57to what the truth really is, because it
- 23:00might take a little time.
- 23:02It's just the way it is.
- 23:03Number 28, guys.
- 23:05Honest pursuit uncovers new life.
- 23:09Truth expands your possibilities.
- 23:15Truth allows us to speak on a topic
- 23:20or to be part of something that is
- 23:25the way it's said and it's expected.
- 23:29If we jump at something because of the
- 23:32Joneses or other bandwagon people and techniques, we're
- 23:38going to hope it's right.
- 23:39But then if it's not, we're going to
- 23:40get egg on our face.
- 23:44And then we're going to be apologizing because
- 23:46we thought that it was the truth.
- 23:54When we learn it wasn't the truth, it's
- 23:56like, oh my gosh, I was wrong.
- 24:00I believe this person and they were wrong.
- 24:04Forget what they said.
- 24:06You were all concerned because of what you
- 24:08told people because of the belief.
- 24:09So that's why it's important when the stakes
- 24:11are higher that you actually do the research
- 24:14yourself and not rely on someone else.
- 24:19Number 29, guys.
- 24:21Real things hold up in the daylight.
- 24:24What matters survives exposure.
- 24:30Real things hold up in daylight.
- 24:33What matters survives exposure.
- 24:35I'm going to say that one more time.
- 24:36Real things hold up in daylight.
- 24:40What matters survives exposure.
- 24:44So we see something at night and we're
- 24:46not sure what it is.
- 24:47We see the same thing in the daytime
- 24:48and now we can see because the sun's
- 24:51beautiful light what it actually is.
- 24:55It's exposed for its truth.
- 24:59And if that's different than our perception we
- 25:01saw or felt that night before, we're now
- 25:05going to probably say, you know what, I
- 25:07don't think I should make any more decisions
- 25:08unless I see something in the daylight.
- 25:09I'm just giving you an example, right?
- 25:11I think those are important things for us
- 25:13to realize is that exposure is about us
- 25:19learning the origin, where something comes from, why
- 25:25it comes from there, and even how is
- 25:28that truthful.
- 25:30You know, I like to think about this
- 25:31in science, we call it a hypothesis.
- 25:36Hypothesis is when we make basically a statement
- 25:42that something is true.
- 25:46For example, I'm going to make a hypothesis
- 25:48that if I take a battery with a
- 25:52positive and negative, two wires, and I connect
- 25:55them to a socket with a bulb in
- 25:56it, that the light's going to light up.
- 26:03That's true.
- 26:04I'm also making another hypothesis that if I
- 26:07take an LED and I hook it directly
- 26:09up to a battery without a resistor, I
- 26:13am going to pop or fry that LED.
- 26:20And you can test these things.
- 26:22And they're like, wow, we
- 26:38didn't suppose the fact that it was going
- 26:40to burn out and now you're doing it
- 26:41again.
- 26:41Like, well, what happened?
- 26:42Well, it went bright, but we burned it
- 26:44out.
- 27:07We're back again.
- 27:10Whenever there's bad weather, this one provider that
- 27:14we're with, unfortunately, does not give great service.
- 27:17And that's not actually OneStream's problem.
- 27:22I'm not going to blame them.
- 27:23It's not Altice's problem.
- 27:25It's actually BlueStream Fiber who, unfortunately, whenever there's
- 27:28bad weather, they're supposed to have fiber and
- 27:30they're supposed to have great service.
- 27:31But I don't know.
- 27:32They just seem to have problems.
- 27:33So the conclusion here, guys, is that when
- 27:37I make a statement, we determine if the
- 27:40hypothesis is true or it's false.
- 27:44If this message spoke to you, stop chasing
- 27:47what looks good and start moving toward what
- 27:50is real.
- 27:51The shift is simple, guys, but it changes
- 27:53everything.
