- 1:42Speaker 3: Howie Roseman, Welcome to Busting with the Boys. It is
- 1:45Speaker 3: an absolute pleasure having you on.
- 1:47Speaker 4: Thanks for having me.
- 1:48Speaker 3: For first story we had, we sat down with Marcus
- 1:52Speaker 3: Mariota and Oregon and he was kind of talking about
- 1:54Speaker 3: his entire career in his journey his highs and lows.
- 1:57Speaker 3: But you were a staple in one of his lows
- 1:59Speaker 3: where he was having a really tough time in camp
- 2:02Speaker 3: and he talked about he was doing a scrimmage in
- 2:03Speaker 3: the stadium and he was like putting balls in the
- 2:05Speaker 3: ground and there was a moment to where you pulled
- 2:08Speaker 3: him aside and helped connect him with was it a
- 2:11Speaker 3: sports psychologist.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:12Speaker 5: You.
- 2:13Speaker 2: The way Marcus superphrases is that you went up to
- 2:15Speaker 2: him and say, hey, we can obviously something mentally is
- 2:17Speaker 2: going on. This is not a physical issue. Let's get
- 2:19Speaker 2: you a Therapist's get you somebody that can help you
- 2:21Speaker 2: off the field so you can succeed on the field.
- 2:23Speaker 2: And he was very compliment to view, basically say you
- 2:27Speaker 2: you saved Like it was.
- 2:28Speaker 3: A moment that, yeah, that helped give him more life
- 2:30Speaker 3: in his career.
- 2:32Speaker 5: Saw him.
- 2:32Speaker 4: I mean, I think for us, yeah, put up a
- 2:35Speaker 4: little bit closer to your I think it's easy for
- 2:37Speaker 4: like really like we're just studying movement, Like that's what
- 2:40Speaker 4: we do because a lot of times when we're scouting players,
- 2:42Speaker 4: like we don't know what they're being told, we don't
- 2:44Speaker 4: know what the scheme is. So we got a study movement.
- 2:47Speaker 4: And when you saw Marcus, you saw he could still
- 2:50Speaker 4: throw the ball. You saw that he was still an
- 2:52Speaker 4: explosive runner, but there was something bothering him, you know,
- 2:55Speaker 4: like and so for us, all we're trying to do
- 2:58Speaker 4: is develop our players on and off the field and
- 3:00Speaker 4: try to get the best out of him. And when
- 3:02Speaker 4: you see a guy still has ability, but there's something
- 3:04Speaker 4: going on, you got to figure out is it physical,
- 3:07Speaker 4: isn't mental? And I mean that that to me, the
- 3:10Speaker 4: best thing we can do for our players, like see
- 3:12Speaker 4: them have success like that is an unbelievable tribute. And
- 3:15Speaker 4: so unfortunately he's in Washington, but most guys to have success,
- 3:19Speaker 4: you know, certainly the guys that are here. And so
- 3:21Speaker 4: when you see those guys, whether it's you know you
- 3:24Speaker 4: Lane or Jordan, you're just with those guys and think
- 3:26Speaker 4: about the you know, Lane juco quarterback comes to Philadelphia
- 3:30Speaker 4: fourth picking the draft and now, like you know, his
- 3:33Speaker 4: whole life's in Philadelphia. He'll go to the Hall of
- 3:35Speaker 4: Fame playing for one team. And then Jordan, that story
- 3:38Speaker 4: and just the way that kind of we took him
- 3:41Speaker 4: and basically said for two years, we don't care how
- 3:44Speaker 4: he looks we're gonna develop him over a three year period.
- 3:46Speaker 4: He's on the roster, we're never gonna cut him, and
- 3:48Speaker 4: we'll see where we are year three, and lo and behold,
- 3:51Speaker 4: year three, we go to Pittsburgh in the COVID year
- 3:54Speaker 4: and all of a sudden, you know, he's forced into
- 3:56Speaker 4: action and playing lights out and really hasn't been off
- 3:59Speaker 4: the field since. And you also see those guys off
- 4:01Speaker 4: the field, you know, Lane three kids, you know, Jordan married,
- 4:05Speaker 4: you know, and you see those guys. It's pretty cool.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Yeah, but you talk about like Jordan, you draft a guy,
- 4:10Speaker 2: you say, we're gonna give you two years. We don't
- 4:12Speaker 2: care about that, We just care about developing you. To
- 4:14Speaker 2: be able to do as a franchise, you have to
- 4:16Speaker 2: put yourself in a position to afford having that fifty third,
- 4:19Speaker 2: fifty second guy be like, we know he's not going
- 4:21Speaker 2: to play, we just need him. You guys are doing
- 4:22Speaker 2: such a great job in the draft. What are you
- 4:24Speaker 2: think some things about you that have set you apart
- 4:26Speaker 2: other than literally being here for twenty five years?
- 4:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know. You know, fortunate to be surrounded
- 4:31Speaker 4: by really great coaches, great players, and great people throughout
- 4:35Speaker 4: the building, and kind of all kind of knowing what
- 4:38Speaker 4: we're looking for and if we can find talented guys
- 4:41Speaker 4: who love football who want to be developed, because this
- 4:45Speaker 4: is like the only I've only done this. I've never
- 4:47Speaker 4: done anything else for a living. But I imagine you
- 4:49Speaker 4: go to different areas and they're not expecting twenty two
- 4:52Speaker 4: to twenty three year old guys to be the best
- 4:54Speaker 4: at what they're doing. And sometimes we put so much
- 4:56Speaker 4: pressure on young players to be at the top of
- 4:59Speaker 4: their game, and we got to understand, like they're coming
- 5:01Speaker 4: to a new city, they're coming into a new league,
- 5:03Speaker 4: like we got to develop them. And I think for
- 5:06Speaker 4: us that's a huge part. It's like an understanding that
- 5:10Speaker 4: the best is yet to come for a lot of
- 5:12Speaker 4: these guys and giving the patience to know that if
- 5:15Speaker 4: we can get their best football out of them, even
- 5:17Speaker 4: if it's your three, even if it's your five, we're
- 5:20Speaker 4: still getting the best out of them. And that's really good.
- 5:22Speaker 4: I mean, listen, we love when they played well as rookies.
- 5:24Speaker 4: You know, our guys. Last year's rookies played really well,
- 5:26Speaker 4: which is huge, but they are everyone's different and timing
- 5:30Speaker 4: for everyone's different. So I think that that's really for
- 5:33Speaker 4: us is understanding also what our coaches are looking for,
- 5:36Speaker 4: because I could love a player, but if he doesn't
- 5:38Speaker 4: fit what we're doing offensively or defensively, and we're not
- 5:41Speaker 4: going to see him in positions to have success, he's
- 5:43Speaker 4: not gonna look very good. So I think for us,
- 5:46Speaker 4: those are all the key things that we're looking for
- 5:48Speaker 4: to try to be successful.
- 5:50Speaker 3: It's brutaled only have you for fifteen minutes, because I
- 5:52Speaker 3: know you've been here a long time, and I think
- 5:54Speaker 3: it's sick that we get to sit down with the
- 5:56Speaker 3: GM and that you've had so much success here, a
- 5:58Speaker 3: lot of highs, a lot of low definitely, And I'm
- 6:01Speaker 3: super curious about you personally. What you felt like you
- 6:04Speaker 3: learned about yourself during the whole Carson WENTZ where you
- 6:08Speaker 3: pay a massive extension, you end up drafting Jalen Hurts,
- 6:11Speaker 3: which was a huge that came with a lot of controversy,
- 6:14Speaker 3: a lot of question marks. You're taking a shot? Are
- 6:16Speaker 3: you taking a shot? And then you go on to
- 6:19Speaker 3: trade Carson? What do you feel like you learned about
- 6:21Speaker 3: yourself during that era, during that time now that's now
- 6:24Speaker 3: that it's in the past, Yeah.
- 6:25Speaker 4: I think it goes back to really starting with coach
- 6:27Speaker 4: Red and we had an unbelievable staff. I think eight
- 6:30Speaker 4: of his assistants ended up being head coaches. So you
- 6:33Speaker 4: had the experience of working with all these guys, you know, Harbaugh, Spags, Schirmer,
- 6:38Speaker 4: you know, just naming a few, Childress, all these guys
- 6:41Speaker 4: who were kind of learning from him and kind of
- 6:44Speaker 4: growing together. And then the same in the front office,
- 6:46Speaker 4: you know, Jason Light, John Spytech now Ryan Grigson, Matt Russell,
- 6:53Speaker 4: Tom Hecker, all these guys that we were I'm sure
- 6:56Speaker 4: I'm forgetting a few that we were together through that
- 6:58Speaker 4: part and we were really like just picking each other's
- 7:02Speaker 4: brains and really trying to learn and develop together. And
- 7:06Speaker 4: we had a lot of success, but we really never
- 7:07Speaker 4: got over the hump. And so we had lost five
- 7:11Speaker 4: championship games during that period of time, which was hard,
- 7:13Speaker 4: you know, and really only a four championship games in
- 7:15Speaker 4: the Super Bowl, And so there was a lot of
- 7:17Speaker 4: adversity and just watching how coach re dealt with it
- 7:20Speaker 4: and how he dealt with everything that was going on
- 7:23Speaker 4: and always just keeping fighting and keeping getting back to
- 7:27Speaker 4: work and continue to prioritize what he thought were the
- 7:30Speaker 4: main things in building the football team, and then you know,
- 7:34Speaker 4: when he left, having myself have an adversity because I
- 7:37Speaker 4: was very fortunate, we were winning and I was with
- 7:39Speaker 4: people that I knew for a long time, and then
- 7:41Speaker 4: you know, I had a public adversity, and you know,
- 7:44Speaker 4: I got my legs kind of cut out from me
- 7:45Speaker 4: and having a chance to reset and learn a lot
- 7:49Speaker 4: about myself and understand that when I had the job,
- 7:52Speaker 4: I got it really young. Was I doing the things
- 7:54Speaker 4: that I really believed in my vision for building a
- 7:56Speaker 4: football team, my vision just around myself with the right people,
- 7:59Speaker 4: And I looked at it and I realized quickly that
- 8:02Speaker 4: I wasn't. And I just really spent the year going
- 8:04Speaker 4: on a journey meeting a lot of people, a lot
- 8:07Speaker 4: of people in sports, a lot of gms in sports,
- 8:09Speaker 4: great gms in sports in football and basketball and baseball.
- 8:12Speaker 4: I went to Europe and then also business leaders and
- 8:15Speaker 4: just I think that perspective was huge for me and
- 8:19Speaker 4: understanding that every single person who's had success has tremendous
- 8:23Speaker 4: adversity that they have to face, and you can't really
- 8:25Speaker 4: have tremendous success unless you face tremendous adversity and it sucks,
- 8:30Speaker 4: you know, it's not fun, but it's the price of
- 8:32Speaker 4: being successful. And so you know, then we come back
- 8:35Speaker 4: and I come back in sixteen, and all of a sudden,
- 8:38Speaker 4: we win the Super Bowl in seventeen, and you know,
- 8:40Speaker 4: eighteen and nineteen are pretty good, and then we get
- 8:42Speaker 4: our as kicked again in twenty you know, and with
- 8:45Speaker 4: that was the decision where we drafted Jalen Because quarterbacks
- 8:50Speaker 4: most important position in sports. And unfortunately for us, we
- 8:54Speaker 4: have been in seven playoff games and I think Carson
- 8:57Speaker 4: had played nine snaps, you know, and our back quarterback
- 9:00Speaker 4: are playing in playoff games, are back and quarterbacks you're
- 9:01Speaker 4: playing in the Super Bowl, you know, And so for us,
- 9:04Speaker 4: we need to make sure that position was right because
- 9:07Speaker 4: we had a good team and you know what we
- 9:10Speaker 4: went through that year. I think it really helped build
- 9:13Speaker 4: this next version of our team that had success and
- 9:17Speaker 4: going in twenty two and losing in the Super Bowl,
- 9:20Speaker 4: heartbreaking loss in the Super Bowl, I mean heartbreaking loss
- 9:22Speaker 4: in the Super Bowl for all of us. And I
- 9:27Speaker 4: thought it was I think that was a whole you know,
- 9:32Speaker 4: it don't matter.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Yeah, there we go.
- 9:33Speaker 4: I beat myself off, Yeah yeah, I mean, I didn't
- 9:39Speaker 4: think it was catchable pass, but it is what it is. Yeah, yeah,
- 9:45Speaker 4: what is Well. I think about it every day for
- 9:46Speaker 4: the rest of my life. I will. But it's okay,
- 9:48Speaker 4: it's okay. It'll keep me going a little bit. But
- 9:51Speaker 4: I think all of that really helped us rather on
- 9:54Speaker 4: twenty twenty three. You know the ship we went through
- 9:56Speaker 4: in twenty twenty three as a team, the ship Nick
- 9:59Speaker 4: went through and he you had to go through publicly.
- 10:01Speaker 4: And I think it it's good for you. It's good
- 10:04Speaker 4: for you. It's good for you to be humbled. This
- 10:06Speaker 4: game is a humbling game, and every time you think
- 10:09Speaker 4: you got something figured out, you get your ass kick.
- 10:11Speaker 4: And so you know, that's always the humility in this game.
- 10:15Speaker 4: I think it keeps you working really hard.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Yeah, you listen, hear about all the time, how players,
- 10:20Speaker 2: the coaches say it. Up top says it. You know,
- 10:22Speaker 2: it's like, ignore the noise, ignore the noise. It seems like,
- 10:25Speaker 2: and I mean this in the most positive way possible,
- 10:27Speaker 2: Philadelphia might be the noisiest fan base of all times
- 10:30Speaker 2: and the good times and in the bad times. For you,
- 10:33Speaker 2: how do you when things are not going away? You
- 10:35Speaker 2: refer to the twenty twenty twenty season. Shit's not going
- 10:38Speaker 2: the way you want to go. I'm sure this fan
- 10:40Speaker 2: base is losing their damn minds in a lot of ways.
- 10:43Speaker 4: I think I have a dead baked potato still in
- 10:45Speaker 4: my office from someone who told me to take the
- 10:48Speaker 4: potato and leave. I didn't really understand that, but I
- 10:52Speaker 4: figured i'd keep it a little bit. Yeah, to dead
- 10:54Speaker 4: baked potato in my office.
- 10:55Speaker 2: But it's your frame, it you little three D glass
- 10:57Speaker 2: boxes or something like that. Yeah, but do you how
- 11:00Speaker 2: important is it for GM? And how do you ignore
- 11:03Speaker 2: the noise when maybe you're part of one of the
- 11:05Speaker 2: loudest fan bases that are trying to tell you how
- 11:07Speaker 2: to do your job.
- 11:08Speaker 4: Well, you know, quite honestly, Like, I want to fight,
- 11:11Speaker 4: you know, And I wish I was as big as
- 11:12Speaker 4: you guys, and I could fight everyone because when I
- 11:15Speaker 4: get mad, but I can't so I can't read it.
- 11:17Speaker 4: I can't see it because if I do, I'm going
- 11:20Speaker 4: to want to react to it. So I mean, these
- 11:22Speaker 4: guys know, like, I'll tell them, just tell me what
- 11:25Speaker 4: I need to know, And they refer to my whispering
- 11:28Speaker 4: crew of people come to me and say, hey, did
- 11:29Speaker 4: you see this. I wrote this because it's hard not
- 11:33Speaker 4: to get mad. It's hard not to be defensive, it's
- 11:35Speaker 4: hard not to you know, try to fight back. So
- 11:37Speaker 4: I just I just ignore it, you know. I won't
- 11:40Speaker 4: listen to anything locally. I won't read anything locally unless
- 11:43Speaker 4: I'm told about it. Because I do, I get emotional
- 11:48Speaker 4: about it. So I just stay away from it. And
- 11:50Speaker 4: I think that allows me to do what I think
- 11:53Speaker 4: is right all the time. And at the end of
- 11:56Speaker 4: the day, we win or we lose.
- 11:57Speaker 1: You know.
- 11:58Speaker 4: And at the end, that's the greatest thing about this game,
- 12:01Speaker 4: about this sport, is the scoreboard matters, and so we'll
- 12:05Speaker 4: be judged by what our record is, how we finish
- 12:07Speaker 4: our seasons, and nothing else matters. I think that's the
- 12:11Speaker 4: most important thing. Is we we got to understand, you know,
- 12:13Speaker 4: if we don't win and we want to debate about
- 12:16Speaker 4: the moves we made, it's not gonna matter because they're
- 12:18Speaker 4: not good enough, you know. And if we win, you
- 12:21Speaker 4: know that at the end of the day that that's
- 12:23Speaker 4: really the most talent sign.
- 12:25Speaker 3: You seem really personable with with the players, like you're
- 12:29Speaker 3: you're out on off lane Johnson and his kids, Jordan
- 12:32Speaker 3: being married, Uh for you, how much of an emotional
- 12:36Speaker 3: process is it when you have to make a hard decision?
- 12:39Speaker 3: Like an example that comes to mind is when Malcolm
- 12:42Speaker 3: Jenkins was let go knowing what he means. How hard
- 12:45Speaker 3: is it to weigh what a guy means tangibly and
- 12:47Speaker 3: tangibly to a team versus also the business sense of
- 12:50Speaker 3: cap space and everything else. And you have to make
- 12:52Speaker 3: those hard calls being the GM because that's a it's
- 12:55Speaker 3: like a spot that nobody really en these because you
- 12:58Speaker 3: have to have those hard conversations.
- 13:00Speaker 4: I feel a little bit like in the Godfather movies.
- 13:02Speaker 4: Would you rather be liked or respected? You know, you
- 13:04Speaker 4: want to be both, But at the end of the day,
- 13:05Speaker 4: my job, I'm not always going to be liked. You know.
- 13:08Speaker 4: The first thing we do before we start a season
- 13:10Speaker 4: is we we're cutting thirty seven guys, you know, so
- 13:13Speaker 4: we're basically telling guys they're fired. So I think the
- 13:16Speaker 4: most important thing we do is be honest with our
- 13:18Speaker 4: players and tell them kind of where we stand at
- 13:20Speaker 4: all times, and we can get close to them. I
- 13:23Speaker 4: like getting close to them. I like caring about our players,
- 13:25Speaker 4: you know. I feel like their fingers on my hand
- 13:27Speaker 4: because at the end of the day, anyone who walks
- 13:29Speaker 4: through here I'm responsible for, you know. And so if
- 13:32Speaker 4: they do something good, I'm incredibly proud. If they're going
- 13:35Speaker 4: through something I feel part of that. That doesn't mean
- 13:37Speaker 4: they're gonna be here forever, because at the end of
- 13:39Speaker 4: the day, we got to win and I got to
- 13:41Speaker 4: make some tough decisions. But if we do it with respect,
- 13:44Speaker 4: if we do it with honesty and integrity, we could
- 13:46Speaker 4: do those things. I mean, we had a trade a
- 13:48Speaker 4: player last night, you know, who was part of our
- 13:50Speaker 4: Super Bowl team and like being here, and you know,
- 13:54Speaker 4: I just tell him why we did it, and I
- 13:57Speaker 4: don't have to agree with it. Doesn't mean we don't
- 13:58Speaker 4: like you. But sometimes to get something good, you got
- 14:01Speaker 4: to give up something good. And I can't tell you
- 14:04Speaker 4: that every time the player walks out and there's hugs
- 14:07Speaker 4: and you know, respect, I'm sure they're upset. But if
- 14:12Speaker 4: we can do that and be honest with them and
- 14:14Speaker 4: tell them, and I say all the time, you know,
- 14:15Speaker 4: I wish I could plain in this league. I can't,
- 14:17Speaker 4: but I've watched it for a long time and this
- 14:19Speaker 4: is what I see, and this is what I'm thinking,
- 14:21Speaker 4: and this is the reason we're doing it. And I
- 14:24Speaker 4: think if you do that enough, it may take time.
- 14:27Speaker 4: It may take a year, and may take two years,
- 14:29Speaker 4: but eventually they'll appreciate the honesty.
- 14:32Speaker 3: I love that. How in the hell did the A. J.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Brown trade when you got that fall for yeah, Howard?
- 14:38Speaker 4: Well, you know, at the time, I'm not sure everyone
- 14:40Speaker 4: felt that way. You know, I think AJ one incredible player,
- 14:44Speaker 4: and he was a guy that really we had spent
- 14:47Speaker 4: so much time on going into the draft and really
- 14:50Speaker 4: fucked it up by not taking him in the first round.
- 14:53Speaker 4: We should have And then you get an opportunity to
- 14:56Speaker 4: bring him here and in the city, and how he's
- 15:01Speaker 4: fit in and the kind of player that he is,
- 15:03Speaker 4: and just a different kind of receiver, you know, like
- 15:08Speaker 4: some guys they hate to be tackled. You know, some
- 15:10Speaker 4: guys they're really hard to cover. When you put those
- 15:13Speaker 4: two together, it's freak show city, you know. And that's
- 15:17Speaker 4: the kind of player he is, and the person he is,
- 15:20Speaker 4: how he's fit in, and the things that he's done
- 15:23Speaker 4: to fit into this community. Him as a teammate being
- 15:26Speaker 4: named captain here, I mean, incredibly proud to see that.
- 15:29Speaker 4: And so, you know, a lot of times you're bringing
- 15:32Speaker 4: guys and a free agency's hard because you're bringing them
- 15:35Speaker 4: into your culture. They're veteran guys. It's different when there's
- 15:38Speaker 4: rookie rookies and you can raise them from the beginning.
- 15:40Speaker 4: But I mean seamlessly fit in. Obviously had had a
- 15:43Speaker 4: relationship with Jalen before that, but having him and Davante
- 15:47Speaker 4: and their relationship and seeing two guys who are selfless,
- 15:51Speaker 4: they just want to win, and I think you see that.
- 15:52Speaker 4: You know, if aj has a great game, DeVante is
- 15:55Speaker 4: the first one congratulating him. When Davante has a big game,
- 15:57Speaker 4: AG is the first one congratulating him. So it's a
- 16:00Speaker 4: beautiful thing.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Take me into, if you can, the war room as
- 16:04Speaker 2: those kinds of trades are going down. You're sitting in
- 16:06Speaker 2: the first round. Who's calling who first? Do you call
- 16:08Speaker 2: it Titans first? Titans call you first?
- 16:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean in that situation, John Robinson, heck of GM.
- 16:13Speaker 4: You know, I feel like still should be a GM
- 16:15Speaker 4: in the National Football League. You know, I understood where
- 16:18Speaker 4: he was and financially what he was trying to do
- 16:21Speaker 4: and really trying to figure out a way to make
- 16:24Speaker 4: a win win situation because we had a quarterback at
- 16:26Speaker 4: the time on a rookie deal. That the interesting thing
- 16:30Speaker 4: was that we had the trade done, the terms agreed
- 16:32Speaker 4: to in the morning, we had to get a contract
- 16:34Speaker 4: done with him and so, and at the time we
- 16:38Speaker 4: had we started with three first round picks in that draft.
- 16:40Speaker 4: We traded one for a future pick with New Orleans,
- 16:43Speaker 4: we still had two and basically I said John, like,
- 16:46Speaker 4: if we can't get a contract done, like we can't
- 16:48Speaker 4: do this trade, Like we can't trade you a one
- 16:50Speaker 4: and a three for one year of a player. You know,
- 16:52Speaker 4: we got to get a contract done first. And so
- 16:55Speaker 4: we trade up and we get Jordan Davis. Our contracts
- 16:57Speaker 4: still not done, and John's like, what are we doing?
- 16:59Speaker 4: You know what's going on here? And so after we
- 17:02Speaker 4: picked Jordan twelve, I think the pick we ended up
- 17:05Speaker 4: trading was eighteenth. Between twelve and eighteen, I'm trying to
- 17:10Speaker 4: finish the contract and so nobody knew except a couple
- 17:14Speaker 4: of people that we were even doing it, because I said,
- 17:16Speaker 4: imagine this falls apart, like I'm gonna be the GM
- 17:18Speaker 4: who can't get a deal done with aj. And so
- 17:21Speaker 4: at that point when we finished it, it was about pick
- 17:23Speaker 4: fourteen and the deal was done, and I turned to
- 17:26Speaker 4: Jeffrey and Nick and I said, we're gonna we're gonna
- 17:28Speaker 4: surprise our room when we're on the clock. They don't
- 17:30Speaker 4: know anything about it, and so you know, when we
- 17:33Speaker 4: get ready to pick, I'm just gonna say, hey, guys,
- 17:36Speaker 4: you know, we're we're picking aj Brown, And they're all
- 17:38Speaker 4: gonna look at me like what the fuck's going on?
- 17:40Speaker 4: But they're gonna be excited as shit. And so it
- 17:42Speaker 4: was really fun. It was great energy. It was really like,
- 17:45Speaker 4: I can't even get to five on the amount of
- 17:47Speaker 4: people who knew in our building because of the contract situation.
- 17:50Speaker 4: It was cool, that a hell of a story that it
- 17:52Speaker 4: was cool.
- 17:53Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Not so much fun when you know we're trading up
- 17:55Speaker 4: againting Jordan Davis and we're still a few million dollars apart,
- 17:58Speaker 4: but congratulated.
- 18:00Speaker 2: And what is that big of crunch time? Are you
- 18:02Speaker 2: just basically get on the phone with the agent and
- 18:04Speaker 2: agent like a three way call'd be like, okay, we
- 18:06Speaker 2: got to move here.
- 18:07Speaker 4: Yeah, it's basically like you can't mess around. I think
- 18:11Speaker 4: the longer I'm doing it, the more important it is
- 18:14Speaker 4: to just be upfront, you know, and just basically, you know,
- 18:17Speaker 4: this high low game, it doesn't really work. You got
- 18:20Speaker 4: to really tell people where you're coming from. And so
- 18:22Speaker 4: there really shouldn't be a lot of time where you're
- 18:25Speaker 4: going back and forth. You're starting high, you're going low,
- 18:27Speaker 4: like it doesn't make any sense. Like, here's what we
- 18:29Speaker 4: think is good for the player, here's what we think
- 18:31Speaker 4: is good for us. Let's do something that's win win,
- 18:34Speaker 4: you know, And that's what we're really trying to do
- 18:36Speaker 4: in every trade that we're doing, every contract we're doing.
- 18:40Speaker 4: You know, I like it when teams, when we make trades,
- 18:42Speaker 4: and teams get what they want out of it too,
- 18:45Speaker 4: because you know, it's a fraternity. There's only there's not
- 18:48Speaker 4: even thirty two gms because some owners are gms. But
- 18:51Speaker 4: you look at it and you want those guys. You
- 18:53Speaker 4: want them to do well, just not at the expense
- 18:55Speaker 4: of us.
- 18:56Speaker 3: My last question, what is your favorite? Yeah you heard that, so.
- 19:03Speaker 4: You know what, I'm okay because I got ship to
- 19:06Speaker 4: do after this, so I can't send a thirty minute
- 19:08Speaker 4: teammate it right now, so I'm don't tell. I'll tell neck.
- 19:11Speaker 3: But yeah, your favorite because that story was awesome. Your
- 19:14Speaker 3: favorite negotiating your favorite negotiation win story that you look
- 19:20Speaker 3: back on and you're like, man, I'm proud of this,
- 19:22Speaker 3: I'm proud of this one.
- 19:25Speaker 4: I don't know, you know. I feel like at the
- 19:27Speaker 4: end of the day, like anytime you get deals done
- 19:30Speaker 4: and your players are happy and they're excited about the
- 19:34Speaker 4: deals and they feel good about them, I feel like
- 19:35Speaker 4: that's when you know it's never good. We're never looking
- 19:39Speaker 4: to do a deal where players feel like they're mistreated
- 19:42Speaker 4: or misrepresented or disrespected. There's no win in that. You know,
- 19:46Speaker 4: at the end of the day, you're then creating culture
- 19:48Speaker 4: where people don't feel appreciated and respected. So if you
- 19:51Speaker 4: look at a lot of our deals on our players,
- 19:54Speaker 4: they're at the top of the market. I mean, you
- 19:56Speaker 4: go through our team and whether you're talking about Lane
- 20:00Speaker 4: or Jalen or you know, AJ, these guys are the
- 20:04Speaker 4: top of the market. You know when we're doing them
- 20:06Speaker 4: earned you know, they earned the right to be that.
- 20:08Speaker 4: So I think from my perspective, it's never good when
- 20:12Speaker 4: when you're in a situation where people feel like they
- 20:15Speaker 4: were taking advantage of certainly not the players that you're
- 20:17Speaker 4: counting on to win games, to be part of your franchise.
- 20:22Speaker 4: So I don't know. I feel like anytime we complete
- 20:25Speaker 4: something and when we get a smile from our player
- 20:29Speaker 4: or they feel appreciated, I mean, I think those are
- 20:32Speaker 4: the best wins. And I'm really not bullshit here. I'm
- 20:34Speaker 4: telling you, like to me, you know, you have happy players,
- 20:37Speaker 4: you have players that feel connected to this team, this organization,
- 20:41Speaker 4: and it gives your best chance to win.
- 20:45Speaker 2: You've done some incredible things here in your tenure, but
- 20:47Speaker 2: one of the most incredible things you've done is put
- 20:51Speaker 2: two white dbs in your backfield on defense.
- 20:53Speaker 3: The exciting, more.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Incredible, incredible. Now I know read blanking Ship is in
- 20:57Speaker 2: the last year of his contract. What does it mean
- 21:00Speaker 2: to the city of Philadelphia to have those two back
- 21:02Speaker 2: together again? Geez, you know we're gonna have the.
- 21:08Speaker 6: Spot.
- 21:09Speaker 4: I mean shit. You think about how dumb I am
- 21:14Speaker 4: that I actually let Red become a free agent. The
- 21:18Speaker 4: guy had four hundred and twelve tackles at Middle Tennessee State.
- 21:21Speaker 4: I mean four hundred and twelve. Think about that. I
- 21:24Speaker 4: mean that is unbelievable. And you talk about a position
- 21:27Speaker 4: that relies on instincts and ability to make plays, and
- 21:31Speaker 4: we risk not getting him in the draft. Uh, and
- 21:33Speaker 4: then Coop, you know, another one where it's like, you know,
- 21:36Speaker 4: we're sitting there and we're thinking when we're picking twenty
- 21:39Speaker 4: two last year that he's probably gonna be our pick.
- 21:41Speaker 4: We didn't think that Q would be there at twenty second.
- 21:43Speaker 4: Felt very fortunate, and then we just started trying to
- 21:46Speaker 4: trade up and again those two guys and you know,
- 21:50Speaker 4: the amazing thing, unbelievable athletes, you know, unbelievable players, but
- 21:53Speaker 4: even better people. And uh, you know, you look at
- 21:56Speaker 4: our secondary and obviously we took some losses in our secondary,
- 21:59Speaker 4: some veteran players who have been played a incredible ball
- 22:02Speaker 4: for us, and we're gonna miss those guys. But seeing
- 22:05Speaker 4: how those guys work, how those guys lead, the chemistry
- 22:08Speaker 4: those guys have as well as Q, and you know,
- 22:12Speaker 4: our young guys in the secondary. I think now we
- 22:15Speaker 4: started training camp before we sign Agba, and now we
- 22:20Speaker 4: just made a trade for guy who's gonna be twenty five.
- 22:22Speaker 4: I think we have three guys over twenty five on
- 22:24Speaker 4: our defense. And you look at our super Bowl team
- 22:28Speaker 4: in twenty twenty two, zero of the eleven starters are
- 22:32Speaker 4: on our team. That's crazy to me, that's crazy, you know,
- 22:35Speaker 4: thinking about twenty twenty two and playing in the Super Bowl,
- 22:38Speaker 4: and here we are starting the twenty twenty five season
- 22:40Speaker 4: and we have zero of them. Now we have won
- 22:42Speaker 4: a game, so that doesn't mean it's worked out or
- 22:45Speaker 4: it's good, But even just thinking about how quickly this
- 22:48Speaker 4: league moves in that situation, it's just mind blowing. But
- 22:53Speaker 4: having those guys, having a bunch of these guys who
- 22:56Speaker 4: played together at Georgia, the chemistry that they have, the
- 22:59Speaker 4: defensive energy unbelievable. Obviously, Bevic's a heck of a coach,
- 23:02Speaker 4: and I'm just really excited to see those guys play
- 23:05Speaker 4: and get attaction. Can you believe football seasons here?
- 23:07Speaker 2: It's been talking about it all.
- 23:09Speaker 4: It's unbelievable, unbelievable.
- 23:10Speaker 3: Have you gotten to enjoy the celebrating the Super Bowl
- 23:13Speaker 3: long enough? Are you ready for the season to start?
- 23:16Speaker 4: You know, it's funny, you know you talk about Philly
- 23:19Speaker 4: and I got four kids, three boys, and my youngest
- 23:24Speaker 4: about a week after the Super Bowl was playing a
- 23:26Speaker 4: travel basketball game about thirty minutes away, and you know,
- 23:28Speaker 4: his names on back of his jersey, and I came
- 23:31Speaker 4: a little late, like you know, we were doing free
- 23:33Speaker 4: agency meetings and and my wife kind of looks at
- 23:36Speaker 4: me and she goes, uh, yeah, Carter had a little incident.
- 23:39Speaker 4: And I said, what happened? And so she goes ask
- 23:42Speaker 4: him so after the game, and I don't know what happens,
- 23:45Speaker 4: and you know, he kind of played out of his
- 23:47Speaker 4: mind for him. So I was I was proud of
- 23:49Speaker 4: him because I'm a little hard on him, and I said,
- 23:51Speaker 4: what happened? He goes dad. Like I get on the
- 23:52Speaker 4: court and some adult yells at me, hey, Roseman, tell
- 23:56Speaker 4: your dad to get to work and stop dismantling the
- 23:59Speaker 4: super Bowl old team. And I'm like, hey, buddy, you
- 24:03Speaker 4: tell them we just want our second super Bowl? And
- 24:05Speaker 4: she what are you telling this eleven year old to see?
- 24:10Speaker 4: I get mad? I was so mad about it. So,
- 24:12Speaker 4: you know, I think from from our perspective, like it's
- 24:17Speaker 4: it's hard to not continue to want to put your
- 24:21Speaker 4: head down work hard. At some point, you know you'll
- 24:24Speaker 4: be sitting on a doc somewhere and you'll think about
- 24:26Speaker 4: all these moments. But in this league, when you're in it,
- 24:30Speaker 4: you want to maximize every moment because you know, you
- 24:33Speaker 4: got everyone's got an expiration date in this league, whether
- 24:35Speaker 4: it's players, whether it's coaches, whether it's general managers, and
- 24:39Speaker 4: so you got to have that urgency. And the minute
- 24:41Speaker 4: I lose that urgency, you know, someone else should take
- 24:43Speaker 4: my seat.
- 24:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I love that. You got another one.
- 24:47Speaker 6: I do.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Before we hit the butt light question because I did,
- 24:50Speaker 2: you brought a gift. They were saying that this is
- 24:52Speaker 2: your mescal tequila company.
- 24:54Speaker 4: Yeah, what made you?
- 24:55Speaker 2: What made you want to start a mescal? Tell me
- 24:57Speaker 2: about the process of doing it, because I'm trying to
- 24:59Speaker 2: know only you publicity, but also say thank you for
- 25:01Speaker 2: the gift.
- 25:02Speaker 4: Yeah, you know what. I love mescal and I would
- 25:05Speaker 4: go into bars and restaurants and I couldn't find one
- 25:09Speaker 4: I really liked, you know. And I could go into
- 25:11Speaker 4: a bar and order ten to fifteen to kill as
- 25:13Speaker 4: I really liked, but I couldn't find a really great
- 25:16Speaker 4: tasting one. And partner with Jim Kramer, who's a huge
- 25:20Speaker 4: Eagles fan who had Mexican restaurants in Brooklyn, and another
- 25:25Speaker 4: guy's a liquor industry really superstar, Tom Moss, and we
- 25:30Speaker 4: have great GM Chuck Huggins, and we brought this mescal
- 25:34Speaker 4: here and it is unbelievably tasting. We got three different
- 25:37Speaker 4: flavors and can't wait for you guys to try it
- 25:39Speaker 4: and tell me what you think. And it's it's it's fun.
- 25:43Speaker 4: I mean, I can't tell you I'm doing a lot
- 25:44Speaker 4: day to day with it, except when we have hard
- 25:47Speaker 4: days and drinking it a little bit.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Just the big best thing about tequila, man, is it's
- 25:52Speaker 2: hard days and good days. It's all enjoyable.
- 25:54Speaker 3: You've seen Deep Philly Lord the social media game last
- 25:59Speaker 3: night the trade happens and you reminded me of because
- 26:02Speaker 3: you said fleeced earlier. But are you aware of the
- 26:05Speaker 3: video that goes around with the mini men Howie clips
- 26:08Speaker 3: with your Eagles. Fans are like back backing you and
- 26:10Speaker 3: they're like, how he does it again? And they got
- 26:12Speaker 3: this video that goes around. It's just a highlight reel
- 26:16Speaker 3: of you with many men.
- 26:17Speaker 4: That looks like that picture two thousand and five. I've
- 26:21Speaker 4: seen the one with the binoculars.
- 26:22Speaker 3: You know, Howie Roseman does it again getting away with this, which.
- 26:25Speaker 4: Is really funny because I was talking to I was
- 26:27Speaker 4: talking to Nick and we're we're talking about, like, you know,
- 26:31Speaker 4: some of the biggest cons and it's like it's like
- 26:33Speaker 4: when they flashed to me during preseason game with binoculars.
- 26:37Speaker 4: You know, it's like like there he is. He's like
- 26:39Speaker 4: scouting the other team, and I'm probably like looking to
- 26:42Speaker 4: see who's ass Nick is ripping on the sidelong or
- 26:44Speaker 4: something like that, and I'm like, yeah, yeah, scouting, Yeah, yeah.
- 26:48Speaker 3: I love that the fans back their GM like that,
- 26:51Speaker 3: that they have a go to video that they put
- 26:52Speaker 3: out there times something and.
- 26:57Speaker 4: Then we have then we have the other time. You know,
- 26:59Speaker 4: I'll be walking around around and I'll see, you know,
- 27:02Speaker 4: little kids going why did you make a trade? Why
- 27:05Speaker 4: don't you get this guy? Or you know, we'll hear
- 27:08Speaker 4: you know, I get a little fucking howie. You know,
- 27:10Speaker 4: is he gonna do this fucking how You know, there's
- 27:15Speaker 4: no honeymoon, but you know what it may. It makes
- 27:17Speaker 4: you really have to have your gay game all the time.
- 27:19Speaker 3: Is there ever a move back since you've been here
- 27:22Speaker 3: to where you're like the fans were right, I was wrong.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:26Speaker 4: I think there's one that's pretty obvious. You know, one
- 27:30Speaker 4: guy who would in drafts going to the Hall of
- 27:32Speaker 4: Fame and.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Oh justin Jefferson.
- 27:34Speaker 4: I'll talk about players on other teams, but you know
- 27:37Speaker 4: what you know, you know at the end of the
- 27:40Speaker 4: day that that's what I'm saying, Like the mistakes kill me.
- 27:43Speaker 4: Like I think about the picks that we have and
- 27:46Speaker 4: who we could have gotten, and you know, the things
- 27:48Speaker 4: that we did wrong, and it helps me get better.
- 27:51Speaker 4: And you know, I feel like I'm constantly trying to
- 27:53Speaker 4: learn and be better and figure out why, you know,
- 27:57Speaker 4: why you make mistakes and why you're picking guys that
- 28:01Speaker 4: you should have picked other guys, and so, you know,
- 28:03Speaker 4: I feel like when you make a mistake, and they're
- 28:07Speaker 4: big mistakes, you know, the worst thing that happen is
- 28:09Speaker 4: you don't learn from it. And so I really feel like,
- 28:12Speaker 4: you know, if you don't make mistakes like that, we
- 28:15Speaker 4: probably don't come back and playing two super Bowls in
- 28:18Speaker 4: the last three years because it really helped me understand
- 28:23Speaker 4: like sometimes you overthink things. Sometimes, you know, you're looking
- 28:27Speaker 4: to fit. It's hard to fill needs in this league.
- 28:29Speaker 4: It's hard to find good players in this league. And
- 28:31Speaker 4: so when you're staring at good players, you just take them,
- 28:34Speaker 4: you know, And the nature of this league you can
- 28:37Speaker 4: never have too many good players. I mean, we're trying
- 28:39Speaker 4: to play at a minimum twenty games. We played twenty
- 28:42Speaker 4: one games twenty one regular season games. That twenty regular
- 28:44Speaker 4: season twenty one games including the playoffs last year. That's
- 28:47Speaker 4: a lot of fucking games, you know. And depth really
- 28:50Speaker 4: matters in this league. And so when you have depth,
- 28:53Speaker 4: that key positions and guys are able to keep going
- 28:56Speaker 4: and may be the difference between a first round by
- 28:57Speaker 4: and playing in the wild card round, which we all
- 28:59Speaker 4: know is hue huge. And so every move we make,
- 29:01Speaker 4: we're kind of going, all right, how can we tack on?
- 29:03Speaker 4: How can we add more talent? How can we add
- 29:05Speaker 4: more depth? You know, if we have two games where
- 29:07Speaker 4: this guy is not playing, can this guy play at
- 29:09Speaker 4: a high level? So maybe that's the difference between having
- 29:11Speaker 4: to buy and not, And that's how we have to
- 29:13Speaker 4: think of every move. There's never a situation where you're going,
- 29:16Speaker 4: we're good. You know, we're good. The fucking paranoid survive.
- 29:22Speaker 4: I'm gonna write that in my office, right.
- 29:27Speaker 2: I see your eyes like that.
- 29:28Speaker 4: And for me, you know, you go through training camp
- 29:30Speaker 4: and our scouts asked me that they go, what are
- 29:32Speaker 4: you thinking about? I go, My worst nightmare is that
- 29:34Speaker 4: we let a player go and we don't know how
- 29:37Speaker 4: good he is. My worst nightmare. You know is that
- 29:40Speaker 4: a guy plays five plays in the preseason, someone claims
- 29:43Speaker 4: him and he goes and has this great career. Like,
- 29:45Speaker 4: we better know our team. Forget about everyone else in
- 29:48Speaker 4: the league right now. We better know our own team,
- 29:50Speaker 4: and we better know it in a way that it's
- 29:53Speaker 4: the most important decisions that we make is who's here
- 29:57Speaker 4: and understanding the strengths and weaknesses.
- 30:00Speaker 2: This is my last question. We'll let you get out
- 30:01Speaker 2: of here. With all the success you're having, two super
- 30:05Speaker 2: Bowls in three years, we walk outside of practice and
- 30:07Speaker 2: it's like the depth that you guys have everywhere, Like
- 30:09Speaker 2: you've assembled a hell of a team. How difficult is
- 30:12Speaker 2: it for you to keep your scouting department, your OC's
- 30:15Speaker 2: r DC's Like, what are those types of conversations when
- 30:17Speaker 2: you're trying to keep a guy who is as interested
- 30:19Speaker 2: in a level of their life become a GM, become
- 30:21Speaker 2: a head coach when they come in your office saying, hey,
- 30:24Speaker 2: I might have this opportunity when your whole goal is
- 30:26Speaker 2: right to keep this band that you've kept together the
- 30:28Speaker 2: whole time, Like, what's your selling points to them?
- 30:30Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I've had to trick my mind a
- 30:32Speaker 4: little bit on this because I used to get mad
- 30:34Speaker 4: about all the people were leave in and now it's
- 30:36Speaker 4: like it's part of legacy, you know. And when you
- 30:38Speaker 4: have people around the league that consider Philly an important
- 30:41Speaker 4: place in their journey and feel like it helped them
- 30:44Speaker 4: get to where they're wanting to go, it's pretty special,
- 30:46Speaker 4: you know. And to see guys that you care about
- 30:50Speaker 4: be able to take care of their families and feel like,
- 30:54Speaker 4: you know what, I learned something in Philly, and then
- 30:57Speaker 4: you see them in the league meetings or you see
- 30:58Speaker 4: them at the combine, it's pretty special, you know. And
- 31:01Speaker 4: I don't want to lose good people. So when we
- 31:04Speaker 4: get to bring back like Joe Douglas, you know, it's
- 31:05Speaker 4: a beautiful thing, you know. But I think from my
- 31:09Speaker 4: perspective at this point, it's a great compliment, you know,
- 31:12Speaker 4: that that people feel like maybe we're doing something right
- 31:15Speaker 4: that they want to take people that have been here
- 31:18Speaker 4: in positions to help us win, and you know, so
- 31:21Speaker 4: I'm proud of that. You know, we've lost we lost
- 31:24Speaker 4: a bunch of people again this off season on the
- 31:27Speaker 4: coaching staff. Obviously with coach More. I lost one of
- 31:29Speaker 4: our scouts who have been with me since two thousand
- 31:32Speaker 4: and one, I mean two thousand and one and that
- 31:35Speaker 4: guy you talk about being life, deaths, births, marriages. So
- 31:40Speaker 4: it's crazy, you know, but at some point, you know,
- 31:43Speaker 4: it's it's like your kids. You got to let them go,
- 31:45Speaker 4: you know, if they have better opportunities to help themselves
- 31:47Speaker 4: and their family.
- 31:48Speaker 5: And so.
- 31:50Speaker 4: I hate bringing in new people because it means we
- 31:52Speaker 4: lost good people. But at the end of the day,
- 31:55Speaker 4: you're changing people's lives too. Yeah, it's pretty cool.
- 31:58Speaker 3: The last question on every interview that we do is
- 32:00Speaker 3: brought to us by bud Light. And you know that
- 32:02Speaker 3: anybody would do anything, how anybody would do anything for
- 32:06Speaker 3: a cold bud Light. What would Howie Rose.
- 32:10Speaker 4: Right now do anything for.
- 32:13Speaker 6: Kids?
- 32:14Speaker 2: Say family can't super Bowl?
- 32:19Speaker 4: I know, I mean that that that's an easy But
- 32:23Speaker 4: I don't want to trade draft picks. I don't want
- 32:24Speaker 4: to give up like our draft picks, you know, Like I.
- 32:27Speaker 2: Don't want to do that.
- 32:28Speaker 4: Like I feel like you guys are trying to get
- 32:30Speaker 4: over on me on a trade. I feel like this
- 32:32Speaker 4: is spiteful, to be honest, I feel like you're trying
- 32:34Speaker 4: to prove a point that you can do a better
- 32:36Speaker 4: deal with me. You know, at the end of the day,
- 32:38Speaker 4: I can I please just have a fucking beer?
- 32:41Speaker 6: Is that is that?
- 32:42Speaker 4: Is that so hard to give something about bud Light?
- 32:45Speaker 4: I mean, do I do I have to give up something?
- 32:47Speaker 4: Because I like everything we got going on, you know,
- 32:49Speaker 4: I like our picks, I want to win games. I
- 32:51Speaker 4: don't want to give any of that up.
- 32:53Speaker 2: I love it. And also dyl Earnhart was on our
- 32:55Speaker 2: podcast and he goes, I'm good. I have everything I
- 32:57Speaker 2: want to achieved, everything I want like, I don't need anything,
- 33:00Speaker 2: which is a ge is the most genuine guy of
- 33:03Speaker 2: all time.
- 33:03Speaker 4: That's like, drop the mic, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:06Speaker 2: So yeah, you've earned it, man, you get to keep
- 33:08Speaker 2: everything we'll give you. But Light, I want more.
- 33:09Speaker 4: I want more, And I can't wait to see you
- 33:11Speaker 4: guys again next summer, be back here hopefully well make
- 33:14Speaker 4: you proud during this season. Thanks for having me, absolute pleasure.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Thank you, Thank you so much, seriously appreciate you.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Yeah all right, that last interview you just saw was
- 33:25Speaker 2: brought to you by bud Light. These next two you're

- 34:10Speaker 2: The gene de gene Is it French?
- 34:12Speaker 3: No, I don't believe it's I think it is French.
- 34:15Speaker 5: I don't believe it's French.
- 34:18Speaker 2: I think that means of jeans.
- 34:20Speaker 3: You've done it twenty three and meters. No, you probably
- 34:22Speaker 3: shouldn't go in there in the government.
- 34:24Speaker 2: You're saying, let me ask you, I've heard let me
- 34:25Speaker 2: ask you this question you've had I mean, you've resurrected
- 34:30Speaker 2: a position that was extinct, the white cornerback. You're draft
- 34:34Speaker 2: in the second round, you make the top one hundred,
- 34:36Speaker 2: you win a Super Bowl? What else made the all
- 34:39Speaker 2: white team? You've achieved so much in your short NFL career,
- 34:44Speaker 2: do you ever think to yourself, maybe I should have
- 34:45Speaker 2: it down here on purpose expectations.
- 34:48Speaker 5: I don't think to myself that, no, No, I'd rather
- 34:52Speaker 5: just you know, just try to keep it rolling, you know,
- 34:56Speaker 5: try to go chase another another champion, ship, continue to uh,
- 35:03Speaker 5: you know, be a spark plug for our defense in
- 35:06Speaker 5: any way that I can be, you know, being being
- 35:09Speaker 5: young and in the league. I feel like we got
- 35:13Speaker 5: a lot of young guys in our locker room, which
- 35:14Speaker 5: makes our our defense fun to play.
- 35:17Speaker 6: For, you know.
- 35:19Speaker 5: But I'm just gonna just gonna try and keep it going.
- 35:22Speaker 2: At what point in your life did you look around
- 35:25Speaker 2: the secondary and be like, Okay, I belong here.
- 35:29Speaker 3: You know.
- 35:29Speaker 5: I think, uh, it started at the at the University
- 35:33Speaker 5: of Iowa. I mean, we had we had like a
- 35:39Speaker 5: couple of white dbs that that started for Riley Moss.
- 35:42Speaker 6: We had some.
- 35:45Speaker 5: Shout out Jack Kerner, Quinn SHOLTI those guys played safety
- 35:47Speaker 5: for us. You know, so I've never I've never really
- 35:52Speaker 5: you know, felt like I didn't belong, you know, in
- 35:55Speaker 5: in the defensive backfield, which is good.
- 35:59Speaker 6: You know, I was.
- 36:01Speaker 5: Riley Moss came before me. You know, he taught me
- 36:03Speaker 5: a lot about the position. He got drafted in the
- 36:06Speaker 5: third round, started last year, you know, so he he
- 36:11Speaker 5: led the way from me.
- 36:13Speaker 3: I feel like you're in your correct me if I'm wrong,
- 36:16Speaker 3: because I feel like you know this answer. But where
- 36:19Speaker 3: is your jersey ranking? Sales on the team? Are you
- 36:22Speaker 3: number one?
- 36:23Speaker 5: I do not know the answer to that. I don't
- 36:25Speaker 5: think I'm number one now number one? The answer no,
- 36:29Speaker 5: it wouldn't surprise me.
- 36:30Speaker 2: It's number one?
- 36:30Speaker 1: Brother?
- 36:31Speaker 3: Is it number one?
- 36:32Speaker 2: Big Dom said that, Yeah, big Dom goes. I feel
- 36:35Speaker 2: like I feel like it is safe to say no
- 36:38Speaker 2: what Big Dom said.
- 36:40Speaker 3: I feel like it is safe to say that you
- 36:42Speaker 3: are too young white. DB's what Caitlin Clark is in
- 36:47Speaker 3: basketball with the w n B A both from Iowa too.
- 36:51Speaker 3: And what a compliment that you just got.
- 36:53Speaker 5: That's sick.
- 36:53Speaker 3: Something I do want to ask, and you can be
- 36:56Speaker 3: honest with us, do you get high when your basketball
- 37:02Speaker 3: footage gets released and goes viral on the internet, especially
- 37:04Speaker 3: in the locker room.
- 37:07Speaker 5: The boys always they always bring it up whenever it
- 37:10Speaker 5: gets it seems like it goes away for a little
- 37:12Speaker 5: bit and then it always pops back up at some
- 37:14Speaker 5: point at the right time. But it's pretty cool to
- 37:17Speaker 5: see it again.
- 37:18Speaker 3: Accounts that I rip on social media.
- 37:21Speaker 2: A couple burn there's just one account that just post that. Well,
- 37:26Speaker 2: you might retweet it. Well, how's that. How's the podcast
- 37:29Speaker 2: like been for you?
- 37:30Speaker 5: It's good, It's it's a it's a different challenge. You know,
- 37:34Speaker 5: my life's been been all sports and you know, so
- 37:38Speaker 5: now I'm starting to get into like the media side
- 37:41Speaker 5: of it with the podcast. I think it's been fun
- 37:43Speaker 5: because we can have our we can have our teammates on.
- 37:47Speaker 5: You know, we've had other people around Philadelphia on and
- 37:50Speaker 5: just kind of get to know them outside of football
- 37:53Speaker 5: and kind of give the people in Philadelphia like a
- 37:57Speaker 5: chance to to get to know them outside of football,
- 37:59Speaker 5: because you know, a lot of people just know him
- 38:01Speaker 5: us know us as football players around the city. So
- 38:04Speaker 5: it's good to you know, be able to have that
- 38:08Speaker 5: platform to to push out that that content outside of
- 38:12Speaker 5: outside of football.
- 38:13Speaker 2: Or you for you that somebody approached you and was like, hey,
- 38:16Speaker 2: you should start this exciting whit it's exciting mix, that'd
- 38:18Speaker 2: be awesome. Or did you see like Jason Kelcey he's
- 38:21Speaker 2: running a practice and maybe you know, ask him a
- 38:23Speaker 2: couple of questions about that, or who showed interest first,
- 38:26Speaker 2: the public or you?
- 38:27Speaker 5: I think it was kind of it was kind of
- 38:29Speaker 5: my idea that I brought to that brought to read.
- 38:32Speaker 5: Obviously Kelsey's got his podcast with him and Travis, you know,
- 38:38Speaker 5: but I felt like it'd be cool for for a
- 38:41Speaker 5: cool opportunity for me and Reid, you know, us being
- 38:44Speaker 5: in such a such a passionate sports city, you know,
- 38:48Speaker 5: and everybody wants to know everything about Eagles football around
- 38:51Speaker 5: around the city for us to you know, just kind
- 38:54Speaker 5: of give some give some insight to to that and
- 38:57Speaker 5: into who we are at players on and off the field,
- 39:02Speaker 5: which has been cool.
- 39:03Speaker 3: Is that something you guys are going to continue to
- 39:05Speaker 3: do during the season.
- 39:07Speaker 5: I am not sure yet. We we might, We haven't.
- 39:12Speaker 5: We haven't talked that far yet. I know we got
- 39:17Speaker 5: we've got another episode coming out. What's the day Wednesday
- 39:22Speaker 5: to today's Tuesday? We got one more episode coming out Thursday,
- 39:27Speaker 5: and then then we'll see. We'll see what happens during
- 39:31Speaker 5: the season. We might we might get one in before
- 39:34Speaker 5: before the season goes well, we'll see. I'd like to
- 39:38Speaker 5: do it during the season. I think it I think
- 39:40Speaker 5: it'd be fun, but obviously you don't want it to
- 39:43Speaker 5: get in the way of football.
- 39:44Speaker 2: Kind Of scary though, right, because you know, what's the
- 39:46Speaker 2: biggest fear if you if you sit there, Like every
- 39:48Speaker 2: player gets paid, every player has investments outside of obviously
- 39:53Speaker 2: just playing the game of football, trying to make passive income,
- 39:55Speaker 2: whether it's real estate. Guys like to play video games,
- 39:57Speaker 2: but like to be out there in the football season,
- 39:59Speaker 2: which we to deal with when we first started. Yeah,
- 40:01Speaker 2: and sitting there and being in front of people's faces
- 40:04Speaker 2: talking about stuff. All this things is going on, and
- 40:07Speaker 2: I would love for you to dive into like the
- 40:08Speaker 2: fan base of Philly. But are they as crazy as
- 40:11Speaker 2: people make them out to be in a good way? Obviously?
- 40:14Speaker 5: Oh yeah, they're They're They're definitely crazy in a good way.
- 40:18Speaker 5: You know, they definitely hold you accountable, you know, you
- 40:22Speaker 5: hear it. I remember my first I wasn't playing yet.
- 40:26Speaker 5: This was week too. This was the Monday night football
- 40:29Speaker 5: game and against the Falcons, and Saquon had he dropped
- 40:34Speaker 5: that pass on fourth down, and I remember hearing people
- 40:37Speaker 5: scream from the stands like they wanted to they wanted
- 40:40Speaker 5: to send him back to back to New York after
- 40:42Speaker 5: after you dropped that pass, it was and it was
- 40:45Speaker 5: it was weak too. That's when I kind of that's
- 40:48Speaker 5: when I kind of realized, like, you know, these these
- 40:51Speaker 5: fans really are invested, you know, into into Eagles football.
- 40:56Speaker 5: And then Sequon goes on to rush for two thousand
- 40:58Speaker 5: and you know, now he's a He's a legend in
- 41:01Speaker 5: the city.
- 41:03Speaker 2: You can just tell they eat it up. This morning
- 41:05Speaker 2: we were at We're gonna have a hotel. Some guy's
- 41:07Speaker 2: like half drunk.
- 41:08Speaker 3: It's like it's Philly.
- 41:10Speaker 6: That's what we do in there.
- 41:14Speaker 3: Yeah, it looks well, just give the.
- 41:17Speaker 2: Holy ship, dude. Dude, when you're obviously, when you're coming
- 41:21Speaker 2: out of Iowa, everyone's excited about you. It's like, holy ship.
- 41:23Speaker 2: There might be a starting corner in the NFL. And
- 41:26Speaker 2: then people were talking about a first round pick, first white,
- 41:30Speaker 2: first round pick. Don't mean to make this all about race,
- 41:32Speaker 2: by the way, try to play, but when you're when
- 41:36Speaker 2: you're in the draft process, Like, what was it like
- 41:38Speaker 2: when the first round went by for you? Obviously it
- 41:40Speaker 2: was difficult, but you have types of conversations like Tom
- 41:42Speaker 2: Brady talks about following the six round, He's like crying
- 41:44Speaker 2: with his mom and dad holding a baseball bat, thinking
- 41:47Speaker 2: maybe I should have played baseball. Yeah, Like, was there ever?
- 41:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I was just the way the first
- 41:53Speaker 5: like the first round went for me, like I had
- 41:58Speaker 5: this was this is what I was about. I had
- 42:00Speaker 5: all these people over to this place in in my hometown,
- 42:04Speaker 5: and to not go in the first round, you know,
- 42:07Speaker 5: That's that's kind of why I was disappointed, just because
- 42:11Speaker 5: I felt like I'd let them down. But that wasn't
- 42:14Speaker 5: that wasn't really the case. You know, I was getting
- 42:17Speaker 5: all these prank calls and stuff during the first round,
- 42:19Speaker 5: which made it even even tougher, you know. But then
- 42:24Speaker 5: I was disappointed for a little bit after the first round.
- 42:27Speaker 5: But then you know that that next day came, and
- 42:30Speaker 5: you know, I knew I was going to go on
- 42:32Speaker 5: that day at some point, you know, So I was
- 42:35Speaker 5: just I just looked at it as you know, being
- 42:38Speaker 5: excited for an opportunity to to continue to play ball,
- 42:42Speaker 5: you know, and I think it was a blessing in disguise.
- 42:45Speaker 5: You know, ended up here in Philadelphia.
- 42:47Speaker 3: You had a hell of a rookie year. What does
- 42:49Speaker 3: it mean to you to get ranked in the top
- 42:51Speaker 3: one hundred.
- 42:53Speaker 5: Yes, the players, it's it's pretty cool.
- 42:56Speaker 3: I mean in the sixties, I told you, yeah, it
- 42:59Speaker 3: could be a.
- 42:59Speaker 5: Little Yeah, I don't know, I don't know. No, it's
- 43:05Speaker 5: it's pretty cool.
- 43:08Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 43:08Speaker 5: I guess I never really paid too much attention to
- 43:11Speaker 5: the top one hundred when I was in just watching
- 43:13Speaker 5: the NFL, So I don't. I mean, I guess some
- 43:17Speaker 5: people like take it really seriously, Like I've seen people
- 43:21Speaker 5: on Twitter and all over the place, you know, they
- 43:24Speaker 5: seem to take it pretty serious. But I mean I
- 43:26Speaker 5: think it's it's pretty cool. It's a cool honor.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it's all I mean, you're ranked. Those are players,
- 43:32Speaker 2: So you sat there in December and they're all handed
- 43:34Speaker 2: out the sheets. Yeah, in the offensive line, they all
- 43:36Speaker 2: just do the same person for twenty.
- 43:39Speaker 5: I's gonna say. I don't. I don't know, because like
- 43:44Speaker 5: usually you just do your teammates, don't you. I feel
- 43:46Speaker 5: like that's how it is.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of guys do but as like Ben
- 43:49Speaker 2: like Ben Jones are center. He would always get We
- 43:51Speaker 2: would sit there in a room and be like, hey,
- 43:53Speaker 2: who do we think the top twenty guys are in
- 43:54Speaker 2: the NFL, And we'd rattle them off, and then we
- 43:56Speaker 2: take like where there's nine guys in the room. We
- 43:59Speaker 2: would take that that one sheet and topy it eight
- 44:01Speaker 2: times and then that that would be all.
- 44:03Speaker 6: Of our really.
- 44:04Speaker 5: See, I think I think we just did it in
- 44:06Speaker 5: like the the locker room, and I think everybody just
- 44:09Speaker 5: put each other down, so we didn't take it as
- 44:12Speaker 5: serious as as you guys.
- 44:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess what was your favorite play of the
- 44:17Speaker 3: year last year?
- 44:19Speaker 5: Favorite play of the year. I mean it's gotta be
- 44:22Speaker 5: the like by me that I made. Probably the touchdown
- 44:27Speaker 5: in the Super Bowl?
- 44:27Speaker 3: Probably, Yeah, you did have a great form tackle. Who
- 44:32Speaker 3: is that on?
- 44:32Speaker 6: I think that was?
- 44:33Speaker 3: That was it?
- 44:37Speaker 5: Isn't that you guys? A boy that's our boy was
- 44:41Speaker 5: ship He's biggest.
- 44:42Speaker 3: Was that him?
- 44:44Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 44:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean did you apologize sorry, mister Henry?
- 44:49Speaker 6: No, I did.
- 44:50Speaker 5: I did not happen to talk to him after.
- 44:54Speaker 3: He's a good dude, man.
- 44:55Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what I've heard. That's what I've heard.
- 44:57Speaker 3: I don't want to get lateral with him when he's
- 44:58Speaker 3: got that stiff arm ready. Yeah, you got practice it
- 45:01Speaker 3: all week, which I'm sure he did chopping the arm down.
- 45:04Speaker 5: I did get him before he before he got gone,
- 45:07Speaker 5: which is good.
- 45:07Speaker 2: I mean he was a rare ketch out of the backfield.
- 45:10Speaker 6: Yeah, he.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Got it, he got his ass. Who was a player
- 45:13Speaker 2: like this, like this past year you went on the
- 45:15Speaker 2: field and you're like, holy ship, that's.
- 45:17Speaker 6: So and so.
- 45:21Speaker 5: Probably tomor Chase, tomar Chase watching him in college and
- 45:26Speaker 5: Joe Burrow. I mean really when I when I got here,
- 45:28Speaker 5: like lining up against a J. Brown, it was was
- 45:30Speaker 5: pretty cool. I was a big I was a Minnesota
- 45:36Speaker 5: Vikings fan growing up, so and Adam Deeling was was
- 45:41Speaker 5: a guy I like to watch growing up because he
- 45:44Speaker 5: played for the Vikings when I was younger and I
- 45:47Speaker 5: got to line up against him. He gave me some
- 45:49Speaker 5: good work.
- 45:50Speaker 2: That's say we were talking about after practice. Yeah, you said,
- 45:53Speaker 2: Adam Feeling kind of gave you were welcome welcome the
- 45:55Speaker 2: NFL MO. Yeah what happened, You're just like look at us?
- 45:59Speaker 5: Yeah, he just w worked me. He worked me get paralyzed. Yeah, like,
- 46:05Speaker 5: holy ship, this is this is like my childhood idol
- 46:09Speaker 5: who I grew up watching now.
- 46:11Speaker 6: But it was h yeah, it was.
- 46:14Speaker 5: It was a rough game for for the kid there.
- 46:16Speaker 6: What was that.
- 46:19Speaker 5: Shoot? I don't even know, to be honest, it was
- 46:21Speaker 5: probably halfway through the season.
- 46:24Speaker 3: You're starting get in the groove.
- 46:25Speaker 2: You're starting to figure stuff. You're like, oh, I can
- 46:27Speaker 2: play in the NFL.
- 46:27Speaker 5: Yeah, and then uh I got humbled real quick.
- 46:30Speaker 2: And it's crazy.
- 46:32Speaker 5: Just a savvy vet you know, another white team player.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 46:40Speaker 2: When you look at your defense, dude, like your your
- 46:42Speaker 2: defensive lines insane. You You we walk in the field
- 46:45Speaker 2: and you see so many specimens guys that have either
- 46:47Speaker 2: come from other teams. You see the second team guys,
- 46:49Speaker 2: you're like, oh, that guy was a starter at X,
- 46:51Speaker 2: Y and Z, Like, do you realize the kind of
- 46:54Speaker 2: team you guys have for this year? Again, it seems
- 46:56Speaker 2: like your depth is just wild.
- 46:58Speaker 5: Yeah, I think, uh, you know how he did a
- 47:00Speaker 5: great job of, you know, bringing guys in who you
- 47:03Speaker 5: know at the positions that that we lost, you know,
- 47:07Speaker 5: guys that are looking to prove something and guys that
- 47:09Speaker 5: are coming back, you know, even hungrier. You know, we
- 47:12Speaker 5: got a lot of a lot of young guys on
- 47:14Speaker 5: our defense. I think we might have the youngest defense
- 47:17Speaker 5: in the league one of them. You know, which is
- 47:21Speaker 5: which is good? It keeps energy up. You know, everybody's hungry,
- 47:26Speaker 5: you know, to to be out there. But you guys
- 47:28Speaker 5: guys like Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Zach Bond who came
- 47:34Speaker 5: on last year, the Kobe Dean Trot, everybody, and we
- 47:39Speaker 5: got so much, so much depth and and so much
- 47:42Speaker 5: young young talent on our defense. You know, it's it
- 47:45Speaker 5: makes it fun when you're when you're out there on
- 47:46Speaker 5: the field.
- 47:47Speaker 2: Is there a guy on that defense? You just heard
- 47:49Speaker 2: a couple of things heard Jalen Carter is a dog. Yeah,
- 47:52Speaker 2: And like he's not one of those guys you really
- 47:54Speaker 2: want to mess with. No, No, is that the number
- 47:56Speaker 2: one guy on the team. You're like, yeah, if he's
- 47:57Speaker 2: in a bad mood'mstay away from him.
- 47:58Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, definitely never, definitely stay away from talk about Mitchell.
- 48:05Speaker 3: He had a hell of a year last year as
- 48:06Speaker 3: a rookie too, and uh, talking with some of the staff,
- 48:09Speaker 3: they talk about what a pro he is, Yeah, but
- 48:12Speaker 3: what makes him? Uh, what makes him such a pro?
- 48:15Speaker 3: What's his routine, what's his mentality, Like.
- 48:18Speaker 5: I think, you know, he's the same person every day,
- 48:21Speaker 5: comes in, you know, and just just does his work.
- 48:25Speaker 5: He doesn't doesn't say a whole lot. You can get
- 48:28Speaker 5: him out of a shell a little bit. He's he's
- 48:30Speaker 5: funny when you when you can get him out of this,
- 48:31Speaker 5: out of his shell. But if you guys, if you
- 48:34Speaker 5: guys listen to his interviews, like he's I don't think
- 48:37Speaker 5: he's a fun fun guy to like listen doing his
- 48:40Speaker 5: interview because he says the same things over and over again,
- 48:44Speaker 5: just because I don't I don't think he really cares
- 48:46Speaker 5: for that stuff. He's uh, he's just focused on on football.
- 48:49Speaker 5: Like he he literally you don't you don't ever see him,
- 48:53Speaker 5: you know, outside the building. You rarely ever see him
- 48:56Speaker 5: like out anywhere like getting food or just anything. He
- 49:01Speaker 5: just sit goes home, chills, keeps to himself. But he's
- 49:06Speaker 5: he's definitely an interesting cat.
- 49:08Speaker 3: Not somebody on exciting mics.
- 49:09Speaker 5: Oh, we already had him on. We already had him on.
- 49:11Speaker 5: We got him experien We got him. We got him
- 49:15Speaker 5: out of the shell a little bit, which was which
- 49:17Speaker 5: was good. I think the people needed needed to hear that.
- 49:21Speaker 2: See a little bit if you could have one guest
- 49:24Speaker 2: on exciting mics, who's your white buffalo?
- 49:26Speaker 3: I can't say us.
- 49:30Speaker 5: Probably Lebron, James Lebron, I'm Lebron being Lebron guy. Or
- 49:34Speaker 5: Tom Cruise, Tom Solid Top Guns, like my my favorite movie,
- 49:40Speaker 5: the second one. See that's tough. I think I think
- 49:44Speaker 5: the second one has has a little more thrill, you know,
- 49:49Speaker 5: but they're they're close, they're close. I'd drank him one
- 49:53Speaker 5: and two for for my movies movies. Yeah, I love
- 49:57Speaker 5: Top Gun. I went and watched the New Top Gun
- 50:00Speaker 5: like five times in the movie theater. Yeah, in the theater,
- 50:04Speaker 5: in the theater.
- 50:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I respect to see that many times.
- 50:08Speaker 5: The Man The Dark Knight is a great movie.
- 50:10Speaker 2: Also, phenomenal movie.
- 50:11Speaker 5: Dark Knight rises also number three for you, Yeah, The
- 50:14Speaker 5: Dark Knight four.
- 50:15Speaker 2: We'll just keep this. Let's just keep this training on
- 50:17Speaker 2: you a comedy guy. You just see just like these
- 50:19Speaker 2: serious suspense movies.
- 50:21Speaker 5: I like the suspense. I like the like the military
- 50:27Speaker 5: style movies too, like Thieves. Have you ever seen n
- 50:31Speaker 5: F Thieves?
- 50:32Speaker 3: Good movie?
- 50:33Speaker 5: Good movie.
- 50:34Speaker 3: Didn't they just make a second one?
- 50:36Speaker 5: I don't know, there might be three now, Actually I
- 50:41Speaker 5: don't know. I like the military style movies, The Action
- 50:46Speaker 5: The Top Guns by far.
- 50:47Speaker 6: My my favorite.
- 50:48Speaker 2: Have you seen The Patriot?
- 50:50Speaker 5: No, I'm not, buddy, I'm not a huge like I'm
- 50:54Speaker 5: not a crazy movie guy.
- 50:56Speaker 2: Souair fair. But it's like I guess, like the earliest
- 50:59Speaker 2: form with military movies. And if you doubt, I'll check
- 51:05Speaker 2: it out America the best. You'll watch it. But yeah,
- 51:07Speaker 2: we actually check that. We're awesome. Oh yeah, go ahead.
- 51:13Speaker 2: I was getting excited about The Patriot. That's my bad.
- 51:16Speaker 2: You go ahead.
- 51:16Speaker 3: Coach Siriani. Your favorite thing about him and a pet
- 51:21Speaker 3: peeve you have with him.
- 51:22Speaker 5: Oh no, I don't know if I can do that
- 51:24Speaker 5: pet peeve.
- 51:24Speaker 3: You have to.
- 51:27Speaker 1: You have to.
- 51:30Speaker 5: Favorite thing about him. He loves winning, loves winning, hates losing.
- 51:35Speaker 5: Very passionate, very detailed, very detailed in the way he coaches.
- 51:44Speaker 5: You know, sometimes he's like extra detailed, extra extra detailed,
- 51:49Speaker 5: like in the team meetings. You know, he calls he
- 51:52Speaker 5: calls everybody out on on everything. You know that that
- 51:56Speaker 5: either you did wrong or or you need to do better,
- 52:00Speaker 5: which which is good. I love that, you know, and
- 52:04Speaker 5: he also points out the good too, which which is
- 52:07Speaker 5: which is awesome. You know, But I think he's a
- 52:10Speaker 5: great coach. You know, he loves to talk. His talk,
- 52:15Speaker 5: which is something that gives you, gives you confidence as
- 52:18Speaker 5: a player. I think, how about that question, let's get
- 52:24Speaker 5: to be the pet peeve.
- 52:27Speaker 2: What's it pet? So? Yeah, Rabel, he's a Matt Collins
- 52:35Speaker 2: gotten a little soft.
- 52:36Speaker 3: Yeah, you can tell he wants to lose it and
- 52:38Speaker 3: he kind of hardests it in and he wants him like, hey,
- 52:40Speaker 3: let it go.
- 52:41Speaker 2: Was the s Pacification of America has?
- 52:44Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 52:44Speaker 2: Yeah, because it's so it's so new, but everyone's got
- 52:48Speaker 2: like you know, you in the locker room, a head
- 52:49Speaker 2: coach does something and then you guys all walk in
- 52:51Speaker 2: the locker room and they use someone's mimicking or joking
- 52:53Speaker 2: about whatever the team keys or some sort of thing.
- 52:56Speaker 3: He always says, I think with Green Bay lafleurs, like
- 52:59Speaker 3: sometimes with this.
- 53:00Speaker 2: Yeah he's got some interesting speeches. Yeah, how is here
- 53:04Speaker 2: on in with his speeches?
- 53:06Speaker 5: He really to be honest, he really doesn't like give
- 53:09Speaker 5: crazy speeches like he like every time in the locker room,
- 53:14Speaker 5: like before games, he'll just he'll walk in. He'll usually
- 53:18Speaker 5: say like the keys. Sometimes a lot of times he'll
- 53:22Speaker 5: say the same tough detail together, break that down a
- 53:26Speaker 5: little bit, and then it'll be on the players to
- 53:28Speaker 5: to bring it up and and and say something.
- 53:31Speaker 3: It seems like you.
- 53:32Speaker 2: Guys are really like a player led team in a
- 53:35Speaker 2: lot of ways. Who are some guys besides yourself that
- 53:37Speaker 2: stand out quite a bit to you from a leadership standpoint.
- 53:39Speaker 5: I mean, Hearts obviously, the quarterback. You know, he's he's
- 53:44Speaker 5: a good leader.
- 53:45Speaker 2: A J.
- 53:46Speaker 5: Saquon. Saquon is probably one of the best teammates I've
- 53:49Speaker 5: I've been around, you know, my time playing playing football.
- 53:53Speaker 5: Just a just a down to earth dude on the field,
- 53:58Speaker 5: and he's he's a lot of fun to play against
- 54:01Speaker 5: off the field. He's he's just really really fun to
- 54:04Speaker 5: talk to. He always has some interesting conversations. I don't
- 54:07Speaker 5: know if you guys are talking to him today, but
- 54:10Speaker 5: he'll get he can get into some some crazy stuff,
- 54:13Speaker 5: you know, which is which is always fun, especially during camp,
- 54:16Speaker 5: you know, to kind of kind of break up the
- 54:17Speaker 5: football stuff. You kind of just talk about random ship,
- 54:21Speaker 5: you know in the training room, which is which is fun.
- 54:24Speaker 5: So he's he's that guy read obviously has been a
- 54:29Speaker 5: great leader, not only for our defense but for me,
- 54:32Speaker 5: you know, since I got here, he kind of took
- 54:34Speaker 5: me in there his wing, you know which, which is
- 54:37Speaker 5: pretty cool.
- 54:38Speaker 3: It's good to know that you have no pet peeves
- 54:41Speaker 3: of Sirianni. Yeah, it seems like a pretty So it's okay.
- 54:46Speaker 3: I feel like that's enough. It's enough of a resume,
- 54:48Speaker 3: good enough sample size your own pet peeve.
- 54:51Speaker 2: Yeah, we know we're at right now. We're in training camp.
- 54:54Speaker 2: We're locked in and he's thinking. He's thinking right out
- 54:57Speaker 2: of himself. Like when the media sees this, I can't
- 54:59Speaker 2: let him have it.
- 55:00Speaker 3: Yeah, he probably wouldn't listen to this part and have
- 55:03Speaker 3: a good chuckle or a good laugh.
- 55:05Speaker 2: He does seem like he seems like a guy's guy,
- 55:07Speaker 2: a little bit guy's guy.
- 55:08Speaker 5: Yeh what I yeah, I don't know if I can
- 55:13Speaker 5: say this.
- 55:15Speaker 2: Yeah, we don't want to do anything that's oh, probably
- 55:17Speaker 2: not he was.
- 55:19Speaker 5: It was after the super Bowl.
- 55:21Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, okay, Well you got.
- 55:23Speaker 3: Everybody enjoyed a beer together anywhere during that Super Bowl.
- 55:25Speaker 2: Yeah, the super everyone gets one beer, twelve ounces bud Light,
- 55:29Speaker 2: call it a day.
- 55:30Speaker 5: Yeah, we were in a good time after the super Bowl, though,
- 55:33Speaker 5: I can't imagine postgame party.
- 55:35Speaker 2: Have you physically seen the City of Philadelphia, Grease the Poles.
- 55:38Speaker 6: No, I have not.
- 55:39Speaker 5: Actually I've seen I've seen videos, but I've never.
- 55:41Speaker 6: Like waiting in it.
- 55:43Speaker 2: You know, how often are you going into the city yourself?
- 55:45Speaker 2: I feel like you can't get around.
- 55:47Speaker 5: I mean I live in the city, so I I mean,
- 55:50Speaker 5: I feel like I blend in pretty well. I usually
- 55:53Speaker 5: just throw on a hat and uh, you know, I'm
- 55:56Speaker 5: just like a regular dude walking down.
- 55:58Speaker 3: You've been to the Rocky Rock Statue?
- 56:00Speaker 5: Yeah, right with it? We Uh that's where the that's
- 56:04Speaker 5: where the parade ended, the Rocky Steps and statue.
- 56:07Speaker 1: You guys.
- 56:09Speaker 5: Yeah, that was like one of the first things I
- 56:11Speaker 5: did when I when I got here and toured the city,
- 56:13Speaker 5: was run up the Rocky Steps and I put the
- 56:15Speaker 5: put the theme music behind it. It's pretty cool.
- 56:18Speaker 2: You should make that part of your game day routine.
- 56:20Speaker 5: I know, Oh my, that might be sick. Yeah, the
- 56:24Speaker 5: day before the game or the day.
- 56:25Speaker 3: Of whatever works in your schedule.
- 56:28Speaker 2: And also take your legs too. I've never really walked
- 56:30Speaker 2: up those steps, so I wouldn't.
- 56:31Speaker 5: Know how much of it's not. I mean, it's not
- 56:33Speaker 5: a whole lot on the legs. Yeah, maybe get up
- 56:36Speaker 5: at six yeah, just get get a little Yeah, it
- 56:39Speaker 5: might be good to to warm warm the legs up
- 56:41Speaker 5: a little.
- 56:41Speaker 2: Bit, you know, visualize, look around, look at Rocky, think
- 56:44Speaker 2: of all the things he's accomplished in his life.
- 56:46Speaker 5: See the city of Philadelphia.
- 56:48Speaker 2: This is what I'm trying to do, is what I'm
- 56:49Speaker 2: trying to get that. Do you have any like superstitions
- 56:52Speaker 2: on game day?
- 56:54Speaker 5: I usually, like, I usually get one, like I do.
- 56:59Speaker 5: I got the same routine the whole the whole year,
- 57:02Speaker 5: and if we lose, then I gotta I gotta switch
- 57:05Speaker 5: something up in my routine. But I try to do
- 57:07Speaker 5: the same thing. It's almost too much sometimes, but I
- 57:11Speaker 5: try to do the same thing, you know, each and
- 57:13Speaker 5: every each and every game day. Like I'll get there.
- 57:17Speaker 5: I have to eat exactly at four hours before the game,
- 57:22Speaker 5: go out on the field, two hours before. I do
- 57:25Speaker 5: my stretches and stuff before that, handshakes at at a
- 57:30Speaker 5: certain moment, you know. So I I feel like I
- 57:35Speaker 5: got it down to I know science. Obviously every year
- 57:38Speaker 5: is different, So this year I'll have to figure out
- 57:41Speaker 5: a different different routine.
- 57:42Speaker 2: For take away a little something every game.
- 57:46Speaker 5: Yes, well, yes, I try to. It depends depends what
- 57:51Speaker 5: we're wearing on like jerseys and what they're wearing, you know,
- 57:55Speaker 5: because that's a defensive guy. You gotta wear you know,
- 57:57Speaker 5: you gotta make sure you got the right gloves on,
- 58:00Speaker 5: you know, things like.
- 58:01Speaker 2: That, that jersey a little yeah, right, So it's a
- 58:04Speaker 2: savvy move, never know, savvy move.
- 58:06Speaker 3: We we appreciate your time, appreciate you coming on, don't
- 58:10Speaker 3: We can't dive into too much because we got to
- 58:11Speaker 3: have them on the bus. Yeah yeah, that'll have the
- 58:14Speaker 3: next offseason. But good luck this year, stay healthy.
- 58:16Speaker 5: Appreciate it.
- 58:18Speaker 3: Best cheese steak in Philly? Is your last question?
- 58:20Speaker 5: Angelo's Angelo's cheese Steaks?
- 58:24Speaker 3: Mad suw?
- 58:24Speaker 2: Do you feel about that? Never been?
- 58:26Speaker 5: Are you from Philly? Where at riading? Okay? Dallas Sandro's,
- 58:36Speaker 5: I'm not sure if I had it, I've had del Rossi's.
- 58:40Speaker 5: You ever had del Rossi's a couple of Philly guys.
- 58:42Speaker 5: I don't think I've had Dellas.
- 58:45Speaker 3: No, but check out check out exciting Mike's. You see
- 58:49Speaker 3: the exciting whites of the field this year.
- 58:50Speaker 5: But good luck, absolutely appreciate it.
- 58:52Speaker 3: Thank you.

- 1:00:13Speaker 2: love you to death. Your story, Jordan, is unbelievable. Being
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: in Australia playing rugby. You went and trained at IMG.
- 1:00:20Speaker 7: Yeah, the International Play Apotheit program was run out of IMG.
- 1:00:24Speaker 7: So yeah, that's where. Well it's for about three or
- 1:00:26Speaker 7: four months and uh, halfway through that process said that
- 1:00:29Speaker 7: was draft eligible. It's like cool, what's that? They explained
- 1:00:33Speaker 7: it to me, and that's crazy. Team took a chance
- 1:00:36Speaker 7: on me. So it was the seventh round, seventh round.
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: Seventh round. Took a chance on you. What for you?
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: Was like, Oh, I'm playing this game rugby in Australia.
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: No one really cares about football. I'm assuming you go
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: and take a show at this sport that you've never
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: played before.
- 1:00:49Speaker 6: Man, I was young.
- 1:00:50Speaker 7: I was twenty years old and I decided, you know,
- 1:00:52Speaker 7: I didn't even attend to twenty one when I joined
- 1:00:54Speaker 7: the program, and.
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: Look, okay, yeah, yeah, how old are you right now?
- 1:01:00Speaker 6: Twenty eight?
- 1:01:01Speaker 7: So yeah, just turn twenty one when I got drafted.
- 1:01:04Speaker 7: I know, I look, look forty eight youself, well, I.
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: Mean, what was like for you when you see Jordan
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: come in? Obviously, this big athletic bastard walks in the
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: door Jurassic Park, Jurassic Yeah.
- 1:01:18Speaker 6: Jason Peters, this dude. But I was like, I couldn't
- 1:01:21Speaker 6: believe how well he can move at the side at
- 1:01:23Speaker 6: his size. So now like even now, like like you
- 1:01:27Speaker 6: see how lean he is. It's like, hey, that's why
- 1:01:30Speaker 6: we got to pay tarriffs on great Aleta.
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: You're put together, man.
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I was kind of watching your sets out there.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Christy sets. You get some Christy sets. How
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: long did it take you to understand the techniques of
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: pass setting, angles, hand punching, run fits man double teams scheme.
- 1:01:52Speaker 7: I'd say probably last year is probably honestly like the
- 1:01:55Speaker 7: culmination of everything.
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: Yeah, you start off yeah one, it was.
- 1:02:01Speaker 6: Now I feel like I was I started off hot
- 1:02:03Speaker 6: year one.
- 1:02:03Speaker 7: Sorry, I feel like, you know, I'm more comfortable now
- 1:02:07Speaker 7: in my set, my technique now. But I think it's
- 1:02:11Speaker 7: just culmination of what he is adding up and getting
- 1:02:13Speaker 7: to a point where you understand, you know, the QB
- 1:02:17Speaker 7: dropped depth and knowing how many you know, kicks to
- 1:02:20Speaker 7: go and just kind of get comfortable over time. And
- 1:02:23Speaker 7: I think it was kind of last year just as
- 1:02:25Speaker 7: just it all come together.
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: Hell yeah, man, laying for you with with Jordan, what
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: was a couple early behaviors or things that he did
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: to where you're just thinking like, uh, what the fuck
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: are you doing? He's like what we do in Australia.
- 1:02:42Speaker 6: The pretty big is that we got on here. The
- 1:02:46Speaker 6: F word is pretty big in America, but the sea
- 1:02:50Speaker 6: word in Australia is that for it. So that was, uh,
- 1:02:53Speaker 6: probably the biggest change that I learned from.
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: He was eating his little slurpy and he's like, I'm
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: a big ol' cunt.
- 1:02:57Speaker 6: Yeah exactly. I didn't say that this guy man, he's
- 1:03:05Speaker 6: you're a silly cunt. Broh. I didn't. I didn't know.
- 1:03:10Speaker 7: Yeah, that was a big shock for me coming here
- 1:03:13Speaker 7: using the using that wood and everyone was like what
- 1:03:17Speaker 7: did I say wrong? Yeah, And they had to educate
- 1:03:20Speaker 7: me and after that, I was like, all right, cool
- 1:03:23Speaker 7: concert anymore.
- 1:03:24Speaker 6: But no, he was. He was a good time Charlie
- 1:03:26Speaker 6: from the very beginning. Really yeah. I mean he had
- 1:03:29Speaker 6: to learn the ins and outs and like he had
- 1:03:31Speaker 6: his growing pains, but there was like, uh like it
- 1:03:34Speaker 6: was a preseason game here at home where he had
- 1:03:36Speaker 6: you just played lights out and the sets were fucking
- 1:03:39Speaker 6: you know, getting out of there, and I was like,
- 1:03:41Speaker 6: damn dude, Yeah.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: Because when you got here, obviously Jason was here, you
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: were who was Who are the rest of the guys.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: It feels like the Eagles have their guys for ten
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: years plus all the time.
- 1:03:50Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't know if Kelly was already gone. I
- 1:03:52Speaker 6: think Kelly already left. Uh d k, Jason Peters is here,
- 1:03:56Speaker 6: Big B was here. Tackle just think tackle wise Dennis
- 1:04:05Speaker 6: Kelly how much? Oh he was my favorite. He was
- 1:04:09Speaker 6: the ultimate equalizer because we had just a lot of
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: different personalities in the room. But he was like the
- 1:04:14Speaker 6: guy that came in. He was like, this man's the
- 1:04:17Speaker 6: this man's our judge.
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: Yeah, he's everybody could be having a conversation and then
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: he will come in with the perfect devil's advocate. He's
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: like I'm not saying I disagree with you guys, but
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: what about this and then restores up the conversation perfectly.
- 1:04:30Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, and he's been like that, just he lights
- 1:04:33Speaker 6: out every time.
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: Yeah, no doubt with Lane for you coming in, you
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: have Jason Peters Kelsey and then you're what you're fourth overall,
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: third overall, fourth, fourth overall. You're in a position where
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: you're being around these guys, these Hall of Fame cats
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: the leadership, and now you find yourself and you're you're
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: thirteen now the leader of the Room ninety nine club, Like,
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: how is that transition? How big of a help were
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: those two and developing you from a leadership stay point.
- 1:05:01Speaker 6: Yeah, it's just it's a lot of fun when you're
- 1:05:02Speaker 6: around like guys that are super high intensity like you are.
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: Like there's like lots of different personalities, but like Kelse's one. J. P.
- 1:05:11Speaker 6: Brooks was, uh, you know, Brooks was a very serious guy.
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: So he was a different cat.
- 1:05:16Speaker 6: Yeah he was. Uh you remember, like he's kind of
- 1:05:18Speaker 6: built like sapphole just uh, you know, just you're around
- 1:05:21Speaker 6: even like you're not from this planet. Yeah, yeah, different,
- 1:05:24Speaker 6: but uh, their work ethic, uh, their drive for the game,
- 1:05:28Speaker 6: you know, and I think JP as soon as I
- 1:05:30Speaker 6: came in the league. You know, he could have been
- 1:05:31Speaker 6: asked asked to me as seeing as somebody was trying
- 1:05:34Speaker 6: to take a spot, but I got stuck at right tackle,
- 1:05:36Speaker 6: and pretty much you know, he was my mentor, you know,
- 1:05:39Speaker 6: far as like sets and how he played his style
- 1:05:42Speaker 6: and uh yeah, just like we had lots of good examples,
- 1:05:46Speaker 6: you know, Jason Peters, Sean Andrews. We just have Evan Mathis,
- 1:05:50Speaker 6: Todd Harriman's We just we've always been pretty pretty loaded
- 1:05:54Speaker 6: and had good teachers.
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: I see you got the you got the toast spaces
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: on you going into year twelve thirteen, you're going into
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: year eight. What are a couple of camp necessities in
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: training camp that are muss?
- 1:06:08Speaker 6: Dude? Yeah, dude wipes element salt packets. Yeah, that's one
- 1:06:18Speaker 6: we edit. U We edited one this year. It was
- 1:06:20Speaker 6: a camelback. Camelback for the backpacks. We got one hundred
- 1:06:25Speaker 6: animals coloring books from CBS. Lanning bought three of those.
- 1:06:29Speaker 6: So uh, I'll actually I'll tech you all some pictures
- 1:06:32Speaker 6: later that we've done, will put it. Yeah, I'm not bullshitting,
- 1:06:35Speaker 6: so I'm pretty proud. Of mine. So so we've been
- 1:06:38Speaker 6: doing that in meetings sometimes when it gets stagnant. Uh,
- 1:06:41Speaker 6: but no, man, it's we've been having fun. But no,
- 1:06:44Speaker 6: it's been it's been kind of a grind this. Uh,
- 1:06:46Speaker 6: you know, hopefully no super Bowl hangover. Hell, we're you know,
- 1:06:49Speaker 6: we're getting the dog piss be out of us. So, yeah,
- 1:06:51Speaker 6: it's been good.
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: Who's the personality to break up the monotonia camp in
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: the oly room?
- 1:06:55Speaker 6: Landing, I'd say it's landing then, like I've had I've
- 1:07:01Speaker 6: had my I feel like I've had my days in
- 1:07:02Speaker 6: the sun in landing and if yeah, if landing, I
- 1:07:06Speaker 6: don't know. I'm trying to describe the guy. Uh, this
- 1:07:11Speaker 6: is a different cat.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: Huh.
- 1:07:12Speaker 6: He has like the Chris Farley, he has the John
- 1:07:14Speaker 6: Candy and him.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: And he also has the Billy Bob from Varsity Blues
- 1:07:18Speaker 6: and him.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: So we want to come. That's an interesting cocktail. So
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: it's almost as interesting as Lane Johnson being Philadelphia. You're
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: one of the most country cats of all.
- 1:07:29Speaker 6: Oklahoma.
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: Yeah, Nebraska, How crazy of a transition was it for
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: you when you first got here?
- 1:07:35Speaker 6: Yeah? It was, Uh, I mean football's you know, obviously
- 1:07:38Speaker 6: very serious in Texas. But I just feel like here
- 1:07:40Speaker 6: the spaces are tighter and so, you know, traffic when
- 1:07:44Speaker 6: you get home, there's like kind of no hiding. So
- 1:07:46Speaker 6: you know, I remember coming home from some games a
- 1:07:48Speaker 6: few times people spot you in the car, fucking run
- 1:07:53Speaker 6: up on you. You remember Gruden telling you, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:07:56Speaker 6: sometimes you get in those traffic jams and hey, but
- 1:07:59Speaker 6: I know it like it comes from a place like
- 1:08:01Speaker 6: they love football. They want to see us do well,
- 1:08:03Speaker 6: and they'll let you know if it's not. You know, yeah,
- 1:08:05Speaker 6: up the part when.
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: You got to the NFL, what was your what was
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: your rookie hazing? Like, what did you have to do?
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: What Lane put you through?
- 1:08:14Speaker 7: It's actually great that then they didn't put me through much.
- 1:08:18Speaker 7: Just get the Chick fil A and Pope eyes for
- 1:08:21Speaker 7: every game, every away game, I had to get JP's
- 1:08:24Speaker 7: apple pie. Missed it one time, found that real quick. Yeah,
- 1:08:29Speaker 7: how did that go? One of the worst scoldings I
- 1:08:31Speaker 7: ever got from I felt like I was getting scolded
- 1:08:33Speaker 7: from a dad.
- 1:08:34Speaker 6: Oh, he was getting a scolded.
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: Man.
- 1:08:37Speaker 7: I should I should have drive to the one five
- 1:08:39Speaker 7: miles away. That's something that's something that he.
- 1:08:42Speaker 6: Looked forward to the whole.
- 1:08:47Speaker 7: Upset, But they didn't do much. Man, just make sure
- 1:08:50Speaker 7: that there were snacks in the room. What the hell
- 1:08:52Speaker 7: you're gonna tell him to do? Look at him, big boy?
- 1:08:56Speaker 7: So like like whenever I first got here, like Chip
- 1:08:59Speaker 7: wasn't about that. Didn't have much of the you know,
- 1:09:01Speaker 7: even the Rookie Talent Show.
- 1:09:02Speaker 6: We don't that. So you have the Rookie get Raiders
- 1:09:07Speaker 6: the end of training cat practice.
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: Do you do anything as a vet to the rookies
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: that come in?
- 1:09:12Speaker 6: I do the same thing that I was put through.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: What's your what's your what was your tasty treat? What's
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: your what's your number one?
- 1:09:21Speaker 6: Number one? For yesterday? You like this?
- 1:09:25Speaker 7: Which one put to dinner? Chicken fried steak, some noki? Yeah,
- 1:09:31Speaker 7: we've we've been doing We've.
- 1:09:32Speaker 6: Been doing mashed potatoes. Uh what have we been doing?
- 1:09:35Speaker 6: All grotten potatoes? Potatoes and then just some we mixed
- 1:09:38Speaker 6: it up. But I know he's never had chicken fried
- 1:09:39Speaker 6: steak till like last year. So he was like, this
- 1:09:41Speaker 6: was like, dude, this is amazing. Don't need to have
- 1:09:44Speaker 6: a meal. You'll be hey. You won't be doing you
- 1:09:46Speaker 6: won't be doing good, but you'll be feeling good.
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: I love the bonding over food a couple of line hogs.
- 1:09:55Speaker 7: What you kind of sad because we're sitting in there
- 1:09:57Speaker 7: without chicken fried steak and everyone's looking at us.
- 1:10:00Speaker 6: Yeah, Landing is one of those guys that gets up
- 1:10:02Speaker 6: early in that sauna. You know for way in days
- 1:10:06Speaker 6: you may have to lose five you know, Yeah, it's
- 1:10:08Speaker 6: kind of good.
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: To But we had the Titans that would be like
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: sixteen over like two in the morning, and the head coach,
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: Malarkey would pull up the security footage of someone going
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: in at two in the morning just to getting the sauna,
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: and like, yeah, he put up like team meeting. He
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: put up a team meaning, but who's this right here?
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: Let's say this guy really loves ball and be spinded
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: showing the security camera walking into the sauna and it'll
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: be like two thirty five in the morning.
- 1:10:35Speaker 6: Michael Bennet would do some ship like that. Here.
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: Michael Bennett was a different.
- 1:10:38Speaker 6: Michael Bennett would be you know, dom say two minutes.
- 1:10:40Speaker 6: Everbody's got the shoulder pads on, you know, somebody maybe
- 1:10:43Speaker 6: taking a piss. Michael Bennett being there in the absence
- 1:10:45Speaker 6: saltus none of his ship on. He might come out
- 1:10:47Speaker 6: there the fucking second series of the game.
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: I'm like this, this dude here, different cats entertaining a
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: great player did not have that anxiety being like I
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: got him.
- 1:10:57Speaker 6: Being around people that didn't have the anxiety that we had.
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: Any I didn't care. I'd be like, how the fuck
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: do I get more like that? Because I felt like
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: I always have it. Yeah, groups, they're going to figure
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: it out, They're going to be, they to be. It
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: just seems like they're never going to get this crazy. Yeah,
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: it's crazy. What was the biggest difference between Australia and
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: America for you, like the biggest culture shocks besides the
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: word cunt.
- 1:11:22Speaker 7: I don't know if there is a Probably the fandom
- 1:11:26Speaker 7: in sports. I thought, you know, rugby fans or just
- 1:11:30Speaker 7: sports fans in Australia were pretty die hard. But I
- 1:11:33Speaker 7: think across America it's just like a different level, just
- 1:11:37Speaker 7: a different level.
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: Is a different bird.
- 1:11:40Speaker 7: Yeah, maybe that's probably why I feel that way, but yeah,
- 1:11:44Speaker 7: just the fandom across the whole country is so different.
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: Before you found football, was your goal to play for
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: all blacks.
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: No.
- 1:11:52Speaker 7: I was born race in Australia, so it would have
- 1:11:54Speaker 7: been the Wallabies the Wall. Yeah, the Blacks, the reminion
- 1:11:59Speaker 7: team for New Yelland. But everyone everyone thinks, yeah, New Zealand,
- 1:12:03Speaker 7: Australia the same thing. That's why I say, like Canada
- 1:12:05Speaker 7: and America.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: I would say the same thing to the boys they
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: were talking about news guys. It's not the same, the same.
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: So I'm glad you were able to culture them.
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: Man we esked. We asked this to Cooper pet peeve
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: of coach Sirianni one thing you love about him and
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: a pet peeve you have with him.
- 1:12:21Speaker 6: I love he does like a lot of insightful stuff,
- 1:12:24Speaker 6: like speeches, like we hear like from a lot of
- 1:12:26Speaker 6: different We had Michael Johnson coming here in the off season.
- 1:12:28Speaker 6: But sometimes we get too many quotes from basketball guys.
- 1:12:32Speaker 6: I'm like, hey, some bitches, we're out there shooting those
- 1:12:35Speaker 6: threes and duck in because they didn't want to go
- 1:12:37Speaker 6: across that middle. Hey you've been there. Hey, motherfucker, I'm
- 1:12:46Speaker 6: not dribbling no ball.
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: But it's a different mentality. It is a different mentality.
- 1:12:52Speaker 6: I remember Charles Barkley saying he went a few practices
- 1:12:54Speaker 6: they tried to get him out of Auburn, or when
- 1:12:57Speaker 6: he's in high school and he was like, man, funk
- 1:12:58Speaker 6: this yeah out there and one time going across the middle,
- 1:13:03Speaker 6: It's like, hey, okay, you gotta make that choice. Don't
- 1:13:06Speaker 6: want to stay with this or don't wanna Yeah, no
- 1:13:08Speaker 6: doubt go basketball. You make a lot more money, is guaranteed.
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: Much better, longer, Yes, more longevity.
- 1:13:17Speaker 6: Pet pee for you, na, I probably say the same.
- 1:13:20Speaker 7: There's not much that about Nick that kind of pisses
- 1:13:23Speaker 7: me off. I think we see eye on a lot
- 1:13:26Speaker 7: of things. And I was like struggling to think of
- 1:13:29Speaker 7: a pet peeve. I was like, and then when he
- 1:13:32Speaker 7: said that, I was like, Yeah, actually that does piss
- 1:13:33Speaker 7: me off. Yeah, that does piss me off. Seeing basketball
- 1:13:38Speaker 7: plays up there, tolking be tougher.
- 1:13:43Speaker 6: I'm not about to run up on a Ben Wallace
- 1:13:45Speaker 6: back in the day or or Rashid Wallace. Yeah you
- 1:13:47Speaker 6: know what I'm saying. Those guys are big. So do
- 1:13:50Speaker 6: you understanding?
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: Talk to me about big domm security guard domb. He
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: had us in the corner, telling us the biggest war stories.
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: I think I've ever heard a good power to the
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: point where I'm thinking to myself, they ain't know way
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: half this stuff is true. But he seems like he's Yeah,
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: he might be connected.
- 1:14:08Speaker 6: Yeah, he kind of. He has a Joey Diaz kind
- 1:14:10Speaker 6: of or to him to me, Yeah, yeah he does
- 1:14:13Speaker 6: has his storytelling is like really, you know, you get
- 1:14:17Speaker 6: into it. It's super funny. But uh, yeah, no, he's
- 1:14:22Speaker 6: been here for twenty something years, eight years. He's dealt
- 1:14:27Speaker 6: with a lot of a lot of personalities on the team. Yeah,
- 1:14:31Speaker 6: but he's pretty damn busy. He is what he is

- 1:15:16Speaker 6: And then but that dress.
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: Did my life as I was seventeen, though it was
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: kind of a bummer, kind of on that one.
- 1:15:24Speaker 7: I kind of just I tried to wing it. Yeah,
- 1:15:26Speaker 7: I didn't fail. I failed the first time, just gonna
- 1:15:28Speaker 7: try to wing it. And I was like, Okay, I
- 1:15:30Speaker 7: guess I'll study the book.
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: You get that little last book.
- 1:15:32Speaker 7: Yeah, oh my god, it's just ridiculous reading every page
- 1:15:36Speaker 7: every night, and this is tough.
- 1:15:40Speaker 6: And then possibly the second time I think I was
- 1:15:41Speaker 6: with it.
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: Yeah, when was the first time that everybody knew you
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: could sing?
- 1:15:46Speaker 6: Uh? Probably the rookie telling show.
- 1:15:48Speaker 5: Yeah they do.
- 1:15:50Speaker 6: You was just sitting there and all, yeah, he needs
- 1:15:54Speaker 6: a uh, he needs a promoter. Hey, we gotta, we gotta. Yeah,
- 1:15:57Speaker 6: what he did last night should have been I guess
- 1:15:59Speaker 6: they got recorded there. But yeah, that was very impressive.
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: Bro had We had a rookie one year in like
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: twenty and fifteen or sixteen, and he started singing John Legend,
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: playing on the guitar, singing John Legend. Dude started team
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: shut the lights off, phones came out, lights up. It's
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: incredible when somebody's out there and they got some They
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: got some real vocals.
- 1:16:18Speaker 6: That's what happened, You know how it's like real playful
- 1:16:20Speaker 6: in the beginning. As soon as you start singing, everybody
- 1:16:22Speaker 6: get real quiet.
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it breaks throughout camp. We'd be in the hotel
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: and he'd just be around playing the guitar, singing songs.
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: The boys got you doing that?
- 1:16:32Speaker 7: Yeah, lotok, guitar, locker room guitar, community guitar in the
- 1:16:37Speaker 7: locker room.
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: Yeah, you can play a little bit.
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: We just have a karaoke a little bit karaoke.
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: What was it like filming that Christmas album before you
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: answer that question? Two years before you guys came out
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: with that. I went to Will and I was like,
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: we should do a Christmas album.
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: He can't get up. It's true.
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: I was like, we should do a Christmas album.
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: We're in Nashville.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: We should get a bunch of people and do a
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: Christmas It'd be unbelievable, it was, you know, yeah, we'll
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: looking do it.
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: Hard to get everybody to come to Nashville record a song.
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: And we were in the earlier stage. We weren't we
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: weren't operating.
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: But wouldn't you know, build Off Eagles come out with
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: an album and I was punching air. Happy for you guys,
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: Happy for you guys.
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: I was so sick, So we should do that, And Buddy,
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: I don't. I don't know what you want me to do?
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: Do it next time?
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: Too late to do it, No, it's too late. We're
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: gonna have to do something different now. I got to
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: figure out a way to be original. But what was
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: that experience? Who came up with the idea of Jason?
- 1:17:28Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean we obviously he can sing. Jason loved
- 1:17:31Speaker 6: to sing. I love the bullshit and sing.
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: You can sing a little bit now, don't see by
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: yourself with that voice.
- 1:17:36Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm mid, I'm very mid. But the anxiety level
- 1:17:41Speaker 6: was like worse than like before a game, because at
- 1:17:43Speaker 6: least I've had some practice, like you know, you have
- 1:17:45Speaker 6: what you have. But the first time we did after
- 1:17:48Speaker 6: after a couple of shots, we actually felt kind of fun.
- 1:17:51Speaker 6: You kind of lost track of the camera stuff. But uh, Charlie,
- 1:17:55Speaker 6: just I felt like they're they had like a good chemistry.
- 1:17:58Speaker 6: Just getting the set and you know, the how the
- 1:18:01Speaker 6: albums look, just all that that came with it. It
- 1:18:04Speaker 6: was hard getting us all together before I mean, all happened.
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: And George's out there he's going nationally.
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: See is it Charlie the gray hair guy.
- 1:18:14Speaker 6: It's like, yes, yes, just feeling it. Yes, he was there.
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: Holy, he was there.
- 1:18:20Speaker 6: It was very like theastrical he's he was He made
- 1:18:23Speaker 6: the whole project.
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: Were you so fired up to just show out?
- 1:18:27Speaker 5: Now?
- 1:18:27Speaker 6: Man? I was just thinking, this is my comfort zone
- 1:18:29Speaker 6: for me. It was just I think they. I think
- 1:18:31Speaker 6: Charlie heard. You know, I don't know. They've been here
- 1:18:33Speaker 6: to listen to what he didn't here. But whenever he
- 1:18:35Speaker 6: started singing, They're like, holy.
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: Yeah, is that something you might want to do after
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: the ball is over.
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: We'll see, man, we'll see what do you I was
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: gonna say, how much longer? How much longer you having
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: the tank? How long do you want to play?
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: You got to make twenty?
- 1:18:51Speaker 6: We win it all this year? Hey, I could be
- 1:18:52Speaker 6: done this year. That's how I feel.
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: But it's on the horizon a little bit, the mortality
- 1:18:59Speaker 3: of yourself.
- 1:18:59Speaker 6: Yes, yeah, just just because there's obviously football, the career
- 1:19:04Speaker 6: is done. But you know you're getting to live or
- 1:19:07Speaker 6: you know life, that's you know, everything you work for
- 1:19:09Speaker 6: you're getting to enjoy now. But like whenever you're in it,
- 1:19:12Speaker 6: you remember what it's like. Just you're constantly working and
- 1:19:15Speaker 6: you know, and that's how I feel when I'm in it.
- 1:19:17Speaker 6: But no, I'm definitely looking you know, next, next couple
- 1:19:20Speaker 6: of years. I signed for two, so really this and
- 1:19:22Speaker 6: next and really evaluate it. But yeah, if we win
- 1:19:26Speaker 6: it all this year, it could be you know, last ever. Know,
- 1:19:28Speaker 6: you never know.
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: But yeah, but you operating a high level exactly.
- 1:19:32Speaker 6: Hey, but yeah, where do you go from there? I mean,
- 1:19:35Speaker 6: do you guess?
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: You know?
- 1:19:37Speaker 6: Yeah, just go back to being a guy.
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, how long do you want to play?
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: If you had a crystal ball microphone in your hand.
- 1:19:46Speaker 6: I'm good with ten, man, I'm good with ten right now?
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: I want to Well, so you guys are drawing lines
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: in the sand right now.
- 1:19:53Speaker 7: We'll see. Man, I just want to get through this,
- 1:19:56Speaker 7: uh this contract. I think like three to four years left. Yeah,
- 1:20:00Speaker 7: from there, finish out this one and.
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: When you get done, when you move back to Australia.
- 1:20:04Speaker 6: Yeah. My wife's American, so hell yeah, fuck the game.
- 1:20:08Speaker 6: Like when when you want to retire, kind of like
- 1:20:10Speaker 6: in in the off season, you kind of like, hey,
- 1:20:12Speaker 6: I'll play to twenty more years. And then when you
- 1:20:13Speaker 6: have a few days of camp. You're like, fuck this, man,
- 1:20:15Speaker 6: I got fucking yeah.
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: Somebody hell they want to play.
