Latest / Kenny Wallace Media / New Hampshire: Denny Spins Ty & "Here Come The Yellow Cars" | Charlie Marlow Show
Transcript
- 0:00All right, we are live. What's up, everybody?
- 0:02Charlie Marlow here on a Tuesday talking about Loudon, talking
- 0:07about New Hampshire. Let's break it all down.
- 0:11First of all, just want to say I really, really enjoyed this race
- 0:16and we'll start like this. I may be in the minority, but I
- 0:21liked Loudon better than Bristol.
- 0:25And I think it's funny too how in the NASCAR world, we we rate
- 0:29every race. I know Jeff Glock kind of
- 0:31started that and give him credit with his was it a good race
- 0:35poll. But I want to bring this up
- 0:38first because it it kind of spins into something else with
- 0:42some NASCAR news. I don't know if you saw that
- 0:45NASCAR is hiring this ad agency, another creative agency.
- 0:50Remember, month or so ago it was announced that they're hiring
- 0:55this agency, what is it called, 72 and Sunny out of LA to help
- 1:01them get back to their roots, maybe get some of the old school
- 1:03fans back. Well, now, this is from Adam
- 1:06Stern. Adam Stern does a great job
- 1:10covering Motorsports. And this is a tweet.
- 1:13I didn't actually read the article, not going to lie.
- 1:16But in his tweet, he says NASCAR has hired a marketing agency
- 1:19called Night Advisory Quote to understand this new world of the
- 1:24Internet and how NASCAR could start reaching a younger
- 1:27audience. This agency was responsible for
- 1:30bringing the Rizzler. Do you know who the Rizzler is?
- 1:34The Rizzler to the Daytona 500? I think the Rizzler's like 9
- 1:38years old. And what him and his family
- 1:41don't. They do the Costco stuff.
- 1:43You guys would know better than me.
- 1:44Let me know in the comments. But I think he's a funny social
- 1:47media kid. And they do little skits and
- 1:49whatnot. I just think it's funny.
- 1:51First of all, how many ad agencies is NASCAR going to
- 1:54hire? But but hey, they're trying,
- 1:59right? They're trying to get back some
- 2:00old folks. They're trying to grow the sport
- 2:03with some new folks, with some younger folks.
- 2:06So the reason I I started with the fact that I like Loudon
- 2:10better than Bristol, and maybe I'm in the minority.
- 2:13I think it all works into what NASCAR is trying to do with a
- 2:17younger audience. My biggest issue with Bristol
- 2:21and some people were saying I was being too negative.
- 2:24I read that in the comments and I don't think I am, but I want
- 2:27to give you my perspective. I didn't grow up a hardcore
- 2:31racing fan because of what I do now.
- 2:34I watch every single race and I have and I enjoy it over the
- 2:38last four years. But I think it's fair to say I
- 2:42still watch NASCAR races with the lens from the lens of that
- 2:47casual sports fan. And that's why my biggest issue
- 2:51with Bristol, we're going back a couple weeks was it was
- 2:54something like 55% of the race. I'm talking about the time, if
- 2:58it was the three hour and 45 minute race, whatever it was
- 3:01over 2 hours was under caution. The reason I thought that was
- 3:05such a big issue, I think it speaks right to what NASCAR is
- 3:09trying to do with this ad agency and bringing in the Rizzler and
- 3:12and whoever else. Put yourself in the shoes of a
- 3:17casual sports fan. I know a lot of you people
- 3:20watching right now on Kenny Wallace YouTube, a lot of people
- 3:23listening on Kenny Wallace Media.
- 3:24You are die hard race fans, you're die hard NASCAR fans and
- 3:29we love you for that. We love it.
- 3:31So you probably loved old school Bristol beaten and banging.
- 3:34I totally get that perspective. I think you need to put yourself
- 3:38in the shoes though, of a casual sports fan.
- 3:40Think about it like this and I'm going back again.
- 3:43I'm going back to Bristol Saturday night race.
- 3:45I believe that night you had a great football game on Notre
- 3:48Dame versus Texas A&M. So think about it like this.
- 3:51Let's say you kind of like NASCAR.
- 3:54You know, it's the NASCAR playoffs.
- 3:55You're watching a football game, you're flipping through the
- 3:58channels and let's say you flip through 10 times the NASCAR and
- 4:03five or six of those times they're running under yellow.
- 4:07That was my whole issue. You're not going to get the
- 4:10young sports fan doing that. You're not going to get the
- 4:14casual sports fan doing that. And I get it.
- 4:17When they were actually racing under green, it was great.
- 4:21At Bristol, there wasn't enough green.
- 4:23And that's why I actually thought as I'm watching, I
- 4:27thought New Hampshire Loudon was a more enjoyable viewing
- 4:31experience for the three hours as I'm watching.
- 4:36Look, passing was was pretty decent and and passing is never
- 4:42going to be great with the next Gen. car.
- 4:44And I've been very consistent on that.
- 4:46Passing is not going to be great.
- 4:48I saw some passing in that race. It was just an interesting watch
- 4:53for the three hours. You had some high profile
- 4:56wrecks, right? You had Brad Keselowski trying
- 4:59to make it, what was it, 4 wide, 5 wide, whatever he was trying
- 5:03to do into the apron causing a wreck.
- 5:05But then the big story, I probably should have started
- 5:07with this, Ty Gibbs versus Denny Hamlin or Denny Hamlin versus Ty
- 5:13Gibbs. That was super interesting.
- 5:15When you saw that happen early on in the race, didn't you want
- 5:19to? First of all, you wanted to
- 5:20wait. You're glad that Ty Gibbs was OK
- 5:24in Field Care Center. You wanted to hear his
- 5:26interview. He didn't say anything and
- 5:29credit to Kim Kuhn for asking the questions, but Ty Gibbs
- 5:33didn't say anything and that's probably a good thing.
- 5:36And by the way, I say this with love.
- 5:38I'm not trying to be mean, but like, has Ty Gibbs ever said
- 5:40anything interesting? I can't remember anything since
- 5:43I've really been following NASCAR in the last four years.
- 5:46I can't remember Ty Gibbs ever saying anything interesting.
- 5:49And that's fine. He's just he's not a dynamic
- 5:51personality. I do Remember, Remember when he
- 5:54he wrecked his teammate couple years ago in Xfinity and kept
- 5:58his teammate. Was it Brandon?
- 6:00Was it Brandon Jones, correct me if I'm wrong, kept him out of
- 6:04the final four and then he apologized for that and his
- 6:07actions. I remember that being a a moment
- 6:09where I'm like, oh, Ty Gibbs is being honest.
- 6:11He he feels bad, he's saying something interesting.
- 6:14Ty Gibbs just isn't somebody, whoever says anything
- 6:16interesting. And you know what, in that spot,
- 6:20is there anything to gain? First of all, Ty Gibbs, we know
- 6:24he's the grandson of Joe Gibbs. We know Joe Gibbs Racing.
- 6:27He runs the show, but it's Denny Hamlin.
- 6:31Ty Gibbs is what, 22? I think Denny Hamlin is 44.
- 6:35Correct me if I'm wrong. He's literally double his age.
- 6:39Denny Hamlin is a first ballot NASCAR Hall of Famer.
- 6:43Ty Gibbs is young and has yet to win a NASCAR Cup race.
- 6:48And then the biggest part of this, Ty Gibbs is not racing for
- 6:51a championship. Denny Hamlin is racing for a
- 6:54championship. Oh, oh, by the way, they're
- 6:56teammates. They're teammates.
- 6:59And if you listen, I didn't listen to all of actions
- 7:02detrimental, but I saw some of the clips on Dirty MO Media and
- 7:06Denny's saying, look, my teammate, I'm racing for a
- 7:11championship. Should he be the hardest one to
- 7:13pass, the hardest one in the whole field?
- 7:16And Denny just said straight up, this is the time of year where
- 7:18teammates give up spots. And look, we all know Denny spun
- 7:23Ty Gibbs. We all know that was
- 7:25intentional. We all know is intentional.
- 7:28Denny was frustrated. Hey, it worked out for Denny.
- 7:33It could have been really bad because Christopher Bell just
- 7:37missed that wreck. That could have been horrible
- 7:40for Joe Gibbs Racing. Think about the own goal.
- 7:43What if when Denny spun Ty Gibbs, it went real S where
- 7:47Denny could erect himself? Ty and Christopher Bell and two
- 7:52dudes racing for a championship were both knocked out.
- 7:56So I don't fault Denny. It worked out in a sense where
- 8:01he was able to still run good. Christopher Bell got out of the
- 8:04way. But I'm totally on the side of
- 8:07of Team Denny here. And, and look, you may not like
- 8:10it if Ty Gibbs was racing for a championship.
- 8:13Different story if Ty Gibbs wasn't Denny Hamlin's teammate.
- 8:18I think you still race him hard eventually if it's a playoff
- 8:20driver. You know, I don't think you try
- 8:22to wreck a dude in that spot when you're not racing for a
- 8:24championship. But really interesting.
- 8:28That's what I'm saying. That's another reason why I
- 8:30thought Loudon was so was so interesting.
- 8:33Just that storyline dominated. You wanted to hear from Ty
- 8:37Gibbs, even though you knew he wasn't going to say anything.
- 8:39He didn't. After the race, you wanted to
- 8:42hear from Denny Hamlin. Denny Hamlin pretty much
- 8:46straight up. I mean, look, he's not going to
- 8:48get himself fined. He's not going to say that he
- 8:52spun him. We all know he spun him on
- 8:55purpose. We all know that he said, hey, I
- 8:58was trying to pass him. I got into him.
- 9:00We all know the story. It's like Dale Senior back in
- 9:03the day. I didn't, I didn't try to wreck
- 9:05him. I just wanted to rattle his
- 9:07cage. Well, yeah, you did want to
- 9:08wreck him. You did wreck him.
- 9:09That's exactly what you're doing, by the way.
- 9:11Why can't they just say that? I feel like we're at a point
- 9:15like, why can't you just say that?
- 9:16I know you're going to get fined or whatever, but isn't that
- 9:20dumb? Isn't that stupid?
- 9:22When you know, when you 100% know somebody wrecks somebody
- 9:25else? Danny knows, Ty knows, Joe Gibbs
- 9:29Racing knows, NASCAR knows. Why do we have to lie about it?
- 9:33Why do we have to lie about it? It's fine.
- 9:35It's it's what people like about NASCAR, the wrecks sometimes
- 9:40drivers getting into it, drivers fighting, whether it's with
- 9:43words or with fists, embrace it, right.
- 9:48So that was a great storyline. And another thing with Ryan
- 9:53Blaney winning. And here I'll, I'll give you the
- 9:57quick results. Top ten Blaney wins.
- 10:00So the Fords are back, baby Blaney wins, Josh Berry second,
- 10:04William Byron third, Joey Logano, another Penske car in
- 10:08fourth. Remember Joey Logano LED 147
- 10:12laps. Joy Logano led the most laps of
- 10:15anybody. Ryan Blaney second with 116.
- 10:18You can tell from that race Ryan Blaney had the best long run
- 10:22car, best car 1. Chase Elliott finishes 5th.
- 10:26Christopher Bell. He gets out of the way of that
- 10:29wreck when Denny Hamlin spins Ty Gibbs.
- 10:31C Bell finishes 6th, Kyle Larson 7th, Michael McDowell 8th, Ross
- 10:35Chastain 9th and Chase Briscoe 10th.
- 10:39Denny Hamlin finished 12th, but Matt Weaver who contributes here
- 10:44on the YouTube channel, he interviewed Denny and you can
- 10:48check that out. It's here on the channel.
- 10:50Very interesting. He also, and I put it on the
- 10:51same video, he interviewed Chris Gabehart, who is Joe Gibbs
- 10:55Racing's competition director. And Chris Gabehart was,
- 11:00remember, he was Denny Hamlin's old, old crew chief.
- 11:04Look, I mean, he tapped dance around it, but he was also
- 11:06pretty honest with the sense of, hey, Ty Gibbs doesn't want to
- 11:09just lay down Denny's racing for a championship.
- 11:13We'll work it out on Monday. I'm sure that was a interesting
- 11:17competition meeting on Monday at Joe Gibbs Racing.
- 11:21But Chris Gabbard also said, look, he had a great quote.
- 11:24Matt Weaver got the quote. Here come the yellow cars.
- 11:27And I just think this is fascinating because they always
- 11:31say in baseball, momentum doesn't exist.
- 11:34I don't think that's 100% true. But they say momentum is your
- 11:37next day's starting pitcher. And just think about how quickly
- 11:41the momentum has now shifted from Joe Gibbs Racing to Penske
- 11:47just from a from a narrative standpoint.
- 11:50OK, Think about the first round of the playoffs.
- 11:53Joe Gibbs Racing sweeps the first round of the playoffs.
- 11:56Three different drivers. That's pretty freaking
- 11:58impressive. Round of 16, Briscoe wins.
- 12:01Darlington, Denny Hamlin wins our race here in Saint Louis.
- 12:05C Bell then goes ahead and wins Bristol.
- 12:10OK, now we're in the round of 12 and, and by the way, all season
- 12:14long in the last three years, this is now year for the Next
- 12:17Gen. car. It's the most obvious storyline
- 12:21there is. Everybody's saying it.
- 12:22You don't have to be a NASCAR expert to realize that.
- 12:24Penske has the cheat code at Phoenix.
- 12:28Penske has the setup at Phoenix. Logano's won two championships
- 12:33next genera, Blaney's won a championship next genero.
- 12:38All the races have obviously finished at Phoenix.
- 12:40We know that's not going to be the case moving forward next
- 12:43year at Miami, but this year it is going to be at Phoenix.
- 12:47So if you're thinking, OK, maybe Joe Gibbs Racing has all the
- 12:50momentum in the world and they still have momentum, that's not
- 12:53what I'm saying. But Chris Gabhart said, look, we
- 12:56slept on him and nobody really slept on him.
- 12:58But he goes, here come the yellow cars, Here come the
- 13:01yellow cars on essentially A1 mile track.
- 13:04New Hampshire's a little over a mile.
- 13:05It's very much like Phoenix, very much like Phoenix, where
- 13:11Penske's already won all three Next Gen. championships and look
- 13:16similar track, mileage track. And which cars freaking dominate
- 13:22the yellow cars? Ryan Blaney, Joey Logano.
- 13:26So all of a sudden, if you're thinking, if you're thinking,
- 13:30and I think this was fair, Chris Gebhardt said this in his
- 13:33meeting. I saw the clip on social media.
- 13:34He goes, hey, the champion is going to come from this room and
- 13:38he's talking Briscoe, he's talking Hamlin, he's talking
- 13:41Seabel. Chris Gebhardt said a couple
- 13:43weeks ago, whenever it was the Cup champion is coming out of
- 13:47this room, Joe Gibbs Racing. And it's still very well may.
- 13:52However, one quick race, a race very much like Phoenix, Penske
- 13:57freaking dominated. They've always dominated
- 14:00Phoenix. And now if you're a betting
- 14:02person, you got to say if Blaney or Logano Syndrich didn't run
- 14:08that great. And obviously remember, Josh
- 14:10Berry has the the Penske partnership, even though he's
- 14:14wood Brothers, but Austin Syndrich not terrible.
- 14:17Austin Syndrich was 17th. But look, if Blaney or Logano
- 14:22get to the final four, you got to think one of them will a very
- 14:27good chance of one of them will. They got to be their favorite.
- 14:30They got to be the favorite until you take it from
- 14:33especially at Phoenix. I might not say that next year
- 14:36at Miami, but as long as the championship races at Phoenix
- 14:40and they just dominated Loudon and there's a Penske driver in
- 14:43the final four, you got to give you got to give Blaney or Logano
- 14:48the the edge in terms of being the favorite.
- 14:53So here come the yellow cars. I just thought that was a great
- 14:56quote from Matt Weaver. Matt Weaver getting that quote
- 14:59from Chris Gabehart. Thank you guys for watching 15
- 15:02minutes in. We got 50 of you watching live
- 15:05on YouTube. I will repost this on the Kenny
- 15:08Wallace Media podcast, which remembers different than Herman
- 15:13Schrader and Kenny conversations that shows up on The Dirty MO
- 15:17Media podcast feed. Kenny Wallace Media is different
- 15:22by the way. Look out later tonight.
- 15:25Great story we have of this, this young girl who
- 15:30unfortunately passed away from a rare form of cancer years ago
- 15:34and her dad speaks to Kenny. It's just a really inspiring
- 15:38story. The website is called Megan's
- 15:40Mission. It's a Megan Bug is the girl's
- 15:43name and Kent Bug is her father who does the interview with
- 15:47Kenny Walls. It's about 30 minutes.
- 15:49It's really good. We're going to put it on YouTube
- 15:51later tonight and then we'll put it on Kenny Wallace media
- 15:55podcast probably much later tonight, maybe early in the
- 15:57morning, but it's very good. So thank you guys for watching
- 16:01here and please give us a like if you haven't already and
- 16:04please subscribe if you have not.
- 16:07And tell you what that's kind of that's kind of everything that I
- 16:11wanted to touch on. So I'll go to your I'll go to
- 16:14your comments here. But just to reiterate what I
- 16:17said at the beginning, because I think it does tie in, even if I
- 16:20didn't do a great job tying it in, is I like loud and better
- 16:26than Bristol from a racy race ability standpoint.
- 16:30Quick, quick, interesting cautions right back to green.
- 16:33That was the problem to me at Bristol.
- 16:36Too many laps, too much time under caution.
- 16:38I don't think I'm being negative.
- 16:39And again, I'm looking at this through the lens of a casual
- 16:42sports fan, which NASCAR, they're trying to get that
- 16:45person. That's why they've hired yet
- 16:47another ad agency now to try to get younger folks, people that
- 16:52watch the rizzler, the rizzler think about the the ADDI say
- 16:57this with love ADDADHD generation of young kids.
- 17:02They're obsessed with their phones.
- 17:03It's bad, but it's just true. They have no attention span.
- 17:07You should see the analytics I can see on like a TikTok, like a
- 17:10TikTok video versus even a YouTube reel or an Instagram
- 17:13reel or a Twitter reel. The freaking attention span of
- 17:17kids these days is nothing. Nothing.
- 17:20NASCAR is trying to get to those kids.
- 17:23I'm repeating myself, but kids ain't going to want to watch a
- 17:26race. I'm sorry.
- 17:27Casual sports fans are not going to want to watch a race where
- 17:30it's folks running yellow, non interesting, non competitive
- 17:34laps for more than 50% of the time.
- 17:36That's why I thought Loudon was really entertaining to me.
- 17:40And look, I'm in the minority on Bristol.
- 17:44If you look at the Jeff Glockpole, Bristol was higher
- 17:46than Loudon. I didn't think Bristol was
- 17:49horrible race. I just thought Loudon was
- 17:51better. I just thought it was racier and
- 17:53it was more interesting. And some of that too is is the
- 17:56Ty Gibbs versus Denny Hamlin. And it wasn't a great finish,
- 18:00right? Best car one, which is fine.
- 18:02Bristol had a great finish, though obviously that final
- 18:04restart, Christopher Bell, Bristol did have a better
- 18:07finish. All right, 18 minutes in, let's
- 18:10go to the chat. Ken Ruggles says don't have a
- 18:16problem with what Denny did. Earnhardt would do it and it was
- 18:20racing. Then he barely touched him.
- 18:22Considering how ticked he was. Ty needs a reality check.
- 18:25Well then he knew what he was doing.
- 18:27Let's be honest. But I'm fine with it.
- 18:30Let's see Jeremy Gilly. NASCAR is simply just far better
- 18:34in person than on a screen. It's going to be hard to win
- 18:36over new fans over the Internet TV.
- 18:38Get them in the stands and get them hooked.
- 18:41That's the marketing they need. I agree, totally different
- 18:45viewing experience. In person on TVI talked about
- 18:49that the last couple weeks. I went to the Saint Louis race.
- 18:52I was there. It's the sounds, it's the
- 18:54energy, it's the vibe, it's the smells, it's the pyro, it's the
- 18:58crowd, it's the music. You look at it from a totally
- 19:01different perspective. And again, I'm not a fan of the
- 19:04next Gen. car. Most races I go, Is this racy?
- 19:08Is their passing, Am I interested?
- 19:10You don't think about that as much when you're there.
- 19:14But look, fans at the track matter.
- 19:17But for the for the bottom line, the TV numbers matter more.
- 19:21So I agree with you, Jeremy Gilley.
- 19:23I think with the young kids, though, you got to get them on
- 19:26the apps, though, you got to get them on social media first.
- 19:28You got to have really good again, TikTok reels super
- 19:31interesting, fast, short, like it or not, Look, I'm an old
- 19:35school guy. I'm an old school landscape.
- 19:38I'll sit there and watch the phone on the on the side.
- 19:42That ain't young kids. If you want young kids, teens,
- 19:4520s to watch, you got to do the reels, you got to do them
- 19:48vertical, you got to do them up, up and down short.
- 19:52You got to caption them. People are always watching.
- 19:54Sometimes people aren't even listening.
- 19:56They're in the doctor's office, right?
- 19:58They have the volume down. They're reading the captions
- 20:01while they watch. Just quick, quick, quick, quick,
- 20:03quick, action, action, action. There's a reason baseball went
- 20:06to the pitch clock. There's a reason that the
- 20:09football tries to keep it interesting with more offense.
- 20:12Like it or not, I don't love it, but we live in an ADDADHD world
- 20:16and to get those kids, you got to keep it moving, you got to
- 20:19keep it fast, you got to keep it interesting.
- 20:21And I'll repeat myself for the 40th time, 2 hours of caution
- 20:24lapse doesn't get it done straight up.
- 20:27And I get it if you're an old school race fan, but that's not
- 20:30how you're going to get young fans.
- 20:32Let's see DC322JG Rs dominance in the play offs all but vanish
- 20:38at New Hampshire. Yeah, they had they had a what?
- 20:41A well, it was an average mid pack day, right?
- 20:46Seabel finishes 6th, Briscoe 10th, Hamlin 12th.
- 20:52So not terrible. I mean that's pretty good in
- 20:54terms of playoff cards, that's pretty Dang good.
- 20:58Obviously Penske had a good day and Hendrick had a good day and
- 21:03that's how it goes, man. I mean, JGR, they had it in the
- 21:07first round and now you're seeing a shift to Penske and
- 21:09Hendrick a little bit here in the first race.
- 21:11We'll see what happens in the next two races of the of the
- 21:17playoffs, which is of course Kansas and the Rover.
- 21:23All right, back to the chat. DC322TY.
- 21:26Gibbs should have moved over for Hamlin and Bell instead of
- 21:28racing with Hamlin. I agree and I said that earlier.
- 21:31I agree. Yep, good time says we need more
- 21:35drivers that can speak up. We all know they can't.
- 21:37So instead NASCAR needs to bring an outside personalities to get
- 21:40fans Miss the old days. Yeah, you're talking about like
- 21:43Rizler and Drewski and all that. Ken Ruggles, Talladega's coming.
- 21:48That will mess everyone up for sure.
- 21:51Ken, don't forget the Charlotte Robo.
- 21:53Yep, DC 322 Phoenix is Ford country.
- 21:58Yes, it is Penske country for sure, although you know what?
- 22:02Sometimes that changes year to year.
- 22:05Remember, everybody thought Saint Louis was a Penske track
- 22:08in the last couple years, and Denny Hamlin wins it.
- 22:13Jeremy Gilley Bristle took so long under yellow because they
- 22:17had to run the vacuum cleaners all around the corners to clean
- 22:19up the tires in an effort to prevent more rubber fires.
- 22:22Yeah, no, I get it. I get it, man.
- 22:24Like, I'm not a hater on NASCAR. It's just not interesting.
- 22:27And again, I don't try to, I think I'm pretty fair.
- 22:32A couple people said I was being too negative.
- 22:34And I get that. Maybe I'm slightly negative, but
- 22:37I'm I'm also, I was sitting there watching the race and I
- 22:40was flipping over. I think I said this.
- 22:41I was, I was, I was working on a dumpster couple weeks ago.
- 22:45I'm moving stuff out of a dumpster.
- 22:47If every time I go to the TV, 6 out of 10 * 5 out of 10 times
- 22:51they're under yellow. That ain't interesting folks.
- 22:54I'm sorry. When they were racing, it was
- 22:56great, but that's what and the the TV ratings weren't good for
- 23:00Bristol. Remember, we'll see the TV
- 23:02ratings on New Hampshire. But that's another part of it.
- 23:05People aren't going to stay and watch yellows.
- 23:07They'll watch for a little bit. That's why Loudon was great.
- 23:10Interesting. Rex.
- 23:11Boom, quick yellows. Back to green, back to racing.
- 23:15Let's see. Why won't Kenny talk about Denny
- 23:18and Ty? Is he scared?
- 23:21Well, you know what? So I'm no longer producing
- 23:24Herman Trader. You guys will know that this is
- 23:26the first week where I'm not producing Herman Trader.
- 23:28So I actually didn't listen to the show.
- 23:32I promise you. Kenny Wallace and Ken Trader
- 23:35covered the whole Tie and Denny deal for sure.
- 23:39Although that's a good point for numbers for money.
- 23:42We should have had Kenny Wallace address tie and Denny in a
- 23:46coffee with Kenny. We'll get on him for that.
- 23:50NASCAR 25 will help. Is that the video game?
- 23:54I'm not a video game person, so I'm not sure, but I think that's
- 23:57what it is. All right, well, hey, those are
- 24:00my thoughts. Let's I already showed you the
- 24:04results. Let's just look at the playoff
- 24:05standings real quick and I'll wrap up.
- 24:08So obviously Ryan Blaney wins the race.
- 24:10He's in the first spot right now.
- 24:12William Byron is in second. Kyle Larson is in 3rd C Bell is
- 24:17in fourth. So if it ended today, the top 4
- 24:21would be Blaney, Byron, Larson, Bell.
- 24:23Of course it's not ending. We have a bunch more races.
- 24:26How many more races we got before Phoenix?
- 24:28We have 5 left, right, 5 left before Phoenix.
- 24:33Denny Hamlin in the five spot, Joey Logano 6, Chase Elliott
- 24:377th, Chase Briscoe 8th. And then here's the cut line.
- 24:429th place, Ross Chastain 10th Austin Sindrick, Tyler Reddick
- 24:4611th Bubba Wallace 12th Not a good day at all for 2311 racing
- 24:51with Tyler Reddick and Bubba Wallace both finishing in the
- 24:5320s and Ross Chastain in the ninth spot right now.
- 24:57So he's 12 points back and I know I'm I keep going back to
- 25:01Bristol. That was another thing.
- 25:02There wasn't a lot of cut line drama at all for the cut off
- 25:05race at at Bristol. Hopefully in a couple weeks at
- 25:10the Oval we'll have some some cut line drama.
- 25:13And that's also the Rovel's weird.
- 25:16We all know that. So could you have first of all,
- 25:19non playoff driver win an SVG? Sure.
- 25:24Could somebody who's kind of far back, Tyler Reddick is a good
- 25:27Rd. course racer. I know it's not a true Rd.
- 25:29course, but could Tyler Reddick be a guy who's back in the
- 25:33standings, 2030 points back, whatever it is, and all of a
- 25:36sudden win the Rovel and make it really interesting?
- 25:38That's why I like the playoffs big picture.
- 25:41I'm not with Mark Martin, although I love Mark Martin, but
- 25:43I don't want a full 36 race championship.
- 25:47I would like them to tweak the playoffs.
- 25:49I think it should be 3 or 4 races.
- 25:51I think it should be harder for the worst drivers to pass the
- 25:54guys who've been really good earlier in the season.
- 25:57I like some form of the playoffs for sure.
- 25:59Make it a three or four race championship.
- 26:03But I just think again, it gets back to the short attention span
- 26:06theater of people these days. People want playoffs, they want
- 26:09some sort of playoff. I get it if you want the old
- 26:12school Winston Cup standings. I just don't think that that
- 26:16works in 2025. I just think the NASCAR playoffs
- 26:19do bring a lot of eyeballs, interest and drama.
- 26:22But they they need to make it more fair.
- 26:25They need to make it more legitimate.
- 26:27Let's see. Good time says bring back
- 26:30practice and make it more on track time for the fans.
- 26:33There you go. Especially if you're travelling
- 26:35to as a race fan. That's a great point.
- 26:37More time in the track, seeing more laps, qualifying practice,
- 26:42get some autographs. I love it.
- 26:44There you go. Thank you.
- 26:45Good time, and hopefully everybody had a good time
- 26:47watching this stream. All right, I'm going to shut her
- 26:49down for about 27 minutes. Appreciate you all.
- 26:52Thank you so much. Charlie Marlowe signing off.
- 26:56Thanks again for watching and jumping in the chat and stream.
