- 0:00Speaker 1: What to do. We're back again The ground Is Show,
- 0:04Speaker 1: episode one five. You're doing a little different layout today,
- 0:09Speaker 1: you know, just some a little more chill some, a
- 0:11Speaker 1: little more more comfortable and personable. The Little Thrones we
- 0:15Speaker 1: was on before it was a little too much, so
- 0:17Speaker 1: we'll try and switch it up. Man, ll y'all let
- 0:19Speaker 1: us know if this is the vibe or not. But
- 0:22Speaker 1: I'm excited today we got Mari on. She was actually
- 0:26Speaker 1: here in the last episode with Sean, just like behind
- 0:28Speaker 1: the scenes vibing and helping out and stuff and during
- 0:32Speaker 1: the week, so let me let me bring it back
- 0:34Speaker 1: a little more. So I booked a session with Ian
- 0:37Speaker 1: that's the engineer I usually be working with poly math man,
- 0:41Speaker 1: and he called me up, like, yo, we got a
- 0:44Speaker 1: new engineer. You want to pull up, you know, just
- 0:47Speaker 1: to kind of see the vibe and everything. So pulled up.
- 0:49Speaker 1: It was Mari super dope. If like, if you do music,
- 0:53Speaker 1: or even if you're like a fan of music, the
- 0:56Speaker 1: engineer thing is like a funny thing because they're like
- 0:59Speaker 1: very crucial to like what you're doing creatively. It makes
- 1:03Speaker 1: a difference as far as like your vibe, you know,
- 1:06Speaker 1: like you got to find an engineer that that kind
- 1:08Speaker 1: of works with your pace and optimizes your pace so
- 1:12Speaker 1: that you're doing good stuff. Like it's like anything else
- 1:14Speaker 1: like and it kind of taps into the whole concept
- 1:16Speaker 1: of like what we're going to talk about on this
- 1:18Speaker 1: pot but like anything else, like the engineer got to
- 1:20Speaker 1: be on point, like anybody on your team, which is
- 1:23Speaker 1: like the end of mixing, engineer, recording, engineer, producers, whoever
- 1:27Speaker 1: you got that you're working with. Everybody got to be
- 1:29Speaker 1: on point. If not, it's not gonna work, you know
- 1:31Speaker 1: what I mean. So that immediately jumped out to me like, Okay,
- 1:36Speaker 1: she's dope to work with in the studio. That's already
- 1:39Speaker 1: like like a win, you know what I mean. And
- 1:42Speaker 1: then after that, you know, you start you're working at Polymath.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Now you're there permanently. And then Ao shout out to
- 1:49Speaker 1: Ao Popn't say a video that you know, I didn't
- 1:52Speaker 1: know about. So the video was basically Ao talking about
- 1:56Speaker 1: like the full circle moment of he met Mario at
- 1:59Speaker 1: Full Sale, like as a student years ago, they took
- 2:03Speaker 1: a sefie together, and now she's working at the studio.
- 2:07Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, She's part of the teams.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Absolutely insane because like when I met Ao, I was
- 2:14Speaker 2: like wow, Like when I met him, it put my
- 2:18Speaker 2: mind in perspective of, like what you were saying, how
- 2:20Speaker 2: it was like way more people to the team than
- 2:22Speaker 2: what regular people know. Because when I met Ao, I
- 2:26Speaker 2: wouldn't say I didn't know anything about music, but I
- 2:28Speaker 2: didn't know half, not even probably like twenty five percent
- 2:31Speaker 2: of what I know now. So when he told us
- 2:34Speaker 2: the story of like how the whole situation with Lawayne,
- 2:38Speaker 2: y'all got to he told the story multiple times, y'all
- 2:40Speaker 2: gotta like go look him up on YouTube. When he
- 2:43Speaker 2: told us that story, it just put in perspective of,
- 2:47Speaker 2: like it take a whole village for real to raise
- 2:52Speaker 2: a rapper or a singer or an artist. You know,
- 2:56Speaker 2: it's not just them, you know, And a lot of
- 2:58Speaker 2: people would think that it's just them because you know,
- 3:01Speaker 2: we don't really know much about music.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, we just know we like this person.
- 3:05Speaker 1: It's funny you say that because I always think about
- 3:08Speaker 1: a specific friend of mine that, like I dropped the
- 3:10Speaker 1: video one time and he sent me a Justin Bieber video, like, bro,
- 3:13Speaker 1: you gotta do something like this, And I'm like it
- 3:17Speaker 1: don't work. Like you know what I'm saying, Like this,
- 3:20Speaker 1: I pulled up the budget of the video, send it
- 3:22Speaker 1: to him and like, yo, this is how much they
- 3:24Speaker 1: spent on the video. This is who they got on
- 3:25Speaker 1: the video. Like, bro, this this is a whole you
- 3:28Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. You do what you can when
- 3:30Speaker 1: you're coming up, and you try to do the best
- 3:31Speaker 1: with what you what you can do. But at the
- 3:34Speaker 1: end of the day, you know, if somebody type of
- 3:36Speaker 1: productions take, if somebody's pulling a million dollars and the
- 3:39Speaker 1: best minds into something, it's gonna be a little different
- 3:41Speaker 1: than you and a couple of people with limited resources.
- 3:45Speaker 1: But but yeah, like to go back to where you
- 3:47Speaker 1: were saying, Oh, and.
- 3:49Speaker 2: So he told us a story and like we I
- 3:51Speaker 2: had just stayed after. I let him talk to all
- 3:53Speaker 2: the other students and I stayed after and I just
- 3:56Speaker 2: like kind of had a wonder woman him and like,
- 4:00Speaker 2: you know, just to get deeper into the story, because
- 4:02Speaker 2: I just had a lot of questions.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Like part of the schooling, Like was it in the
- 4:06Speaker 1: classroom or like an after event?
- 4:08Speaker 3: No, it was like one of them events.
- 4:10Speaker 2: You show up if you want to see a lot
- 4:13Speaker 2: of people, they just do the bare minimum. They go
- 4:15Speaker 2: to class, they do the homework, and they expect great
- 4:18Speaker 2: things to happen. But you gotta do the extra curricular,
- 4:22Speaker 2: like you have to go out and do your own
- 4:25Speaker 2: type of networking. Like when they say network, I'm telling
- 4:28Speaker 2: you that's like the most important thing ever, because like
- 4:31Speaker 2: you can get in a position without knowing as much
- 4:34Speaker 2: just from who you know.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Yeah. I remember, I took the tour of food Cell
- 4:38Speaker 1: a long time ago, and the guy that led the tour,
- 4:42Speaker 1: he said it in the tour at the beginning, He's like,
- 4:44Speaker 1: if you spend the money to come here and you
- 4:46Speaker 1: don network, you're wasting your money.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Yeah, straight up.
- 4:48Speaker 2: And a lot of people do that like they expect,
- 4:51Speaker 2: oh I graduate, something great supposed to happen. No, like
- 4:54Speaker 2: you gotta do that extra feetwork to meet the right
- 4:57Speaker 2: people and know the right people. And when I may him,
- 5:00Speaker 2: I never thought that I want to be working with
- 5:03Speaker 2: Ao at his studio, Like I didn't even have the
- 5:07Speaker 2: correct skill set for me to even approach him in
- 5:10Speaker 2: that type of way, because like I'm realistic. I'm not
- 5:13Speaker 2: I'm not the type person that think, oh, like oh
- 5:15Speaker 2: I'm gonna just take this way, which ain't nothing wrong
- 5:18Speaker 2: with that, but I knew if I did get the opportunity,
- 5:21Speaker 2: I was gonna drop the ball because I wasn't ready
- 5:23Speaker 2: for that type of For.
- 5:24Speaker 1: The people that aren't aware of who we're talking about,
- 5:26Speaker 1: we're talking about Aos the producer, one half of Ao
- 5:29Speaker 1: and Keys credits with you, Cardi B and Meg Thee, Stallion,
- 5:34Speaker 1: the WAP Joint, Bryson tilor Lil Wayne John, you know
- 5:39Speaker 1: what I mean. Like we're talking about music and songs
- 5:43Speaker 1: and things that you know that you've heard that you
- 5:45Speaker 1: might have not have known it was him, But this
- 5:47Speaker 1: is a dude that came out of Orlando, really built
- 5:50Speaker 1: it from the ground up. Him and Ian put together
- 5:52Speaker 1: a crazy studio downtown Orlando. Like when after I left,
- 5:57Speaker 1: remember because I took my son at that last session, Yeah,
- 6:00Speaker 1: he left. He was like, dangn man, that studio in there.
- 6:03Speaker 1: It felt like I was like in like Spider Man
- 6:05Speaker 1: in New York City, you know what I mean. Like
- 6:07Speaker 1: he thought that inside kind of looked like the buildings
- 6:10Speaker 1: and look. Yeah, I was like, damn, Yeah, it does
- 6:13Speaker 1: kind of give you that vibe, like just because it's
- 6:15Speaker 1: so modern, you know what I mean? But yeah, like
- 6:18Speaker 1: that's why you're saying, like you can't imagine, you couldn't
- 6:21Speaker 1: have imagined this is where it would have taken you,
- 6:22Speaker 1: because like this is a dude, that's where you want
- 6:25Speaker 1: to be, you know what I mean, like to the
- 6:26Speaker 1: highest level.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Yeah, and then if you actually meet him in person,
- 6:30Speaker 2: like he is so freaking cool, like so humble and
- 6:34Speaker 2: like he's not one of them type of people, like
- 6:36Speaker 2: type of people that's like oh yeah I made it
- 6:39Speaker 2: or like yeah I'm successful. Like he's more like you know, welcomeing,
- 6:43Speaker 2: like oh, you know the people who around me like you,
- 6:46Speaker 2: so I like you, you know, Like he's kind of
- 6:49Speaker 2: like that, like he I didn't feel any type of
- 6:52Speaker 2: distance or you know, like oh you ain't at a
- 6:57Speaker 2: status to talk to me when I met him, Like
- 6:59Speaker 2: it was like I met him and.
- 7:00Speaker 3: He was like hey, what's up? Like he said hey
- 7:02Speaker 3: to me like he already knew me.
- 7:04Speaker 2: So it made me even more comfortable at the studio
- 7:07Speaker 2: because I'm like, Okay, I'm around good people like Ian
- 7:11Speaker 2: is a great person, like shell nice guy, like I can't.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Any probly already and you probably knew like if she's
- 7:17Speaker 1: already at this point she's the person that needs to
- 7:20Speaker 1: be here. So he's giving you the energy that you
- 7:23Speaker 1: need to receive, you know what I mean. Because at
- 7:25Speaker 1: the end of the day, like we were saying, it's
- 7:26Speaker 1: a teamwork and you got to build that up, you know.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Too, shout out fact.
- 7:34Speaker 1: So you know, you meet him, you talk to him,
- 7:37Speaker 1: y'all take that picture. And then what was like the
- 7:40Speaker 1: first studio you started working at after that?
- 7:42Speaker 3: Like, so the very.
- 7:43Speaker 2: First studio I started working at was actually Criteria in Miami.
- 7:47Speaker 2: So I left or like I left Orlando, like they
- 7:50Speaker 2: called me so last minute. It was like, oh, come
- 7:53Speaker 2: if you can come in like three days, you got
- 7:55Speaker 2: the job. And I literally just drop everything and just
- 7:58Speaker 2: left and went, you know, and like shout out Trinity,
- 8:01Speaker 2: my homegirl, Trinity actually got.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Me the job.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Like that's where that goes back to like networking, because
- 8:07Speaker 2: I'm at Trinity when I was like working at doing
- 8:11Speaker 2: a little student stuff at Full Sale, and she came
- 8:13Speaker 2: for a grad panel and I just started talking to her,
- 8:16Speaker 2: like telling her, like, you know, the stuff you do
- 8:18Speaker 2: is cool, you know, like that stuff is fire, and
- 8:21Speaker 2: just asking her a bunch of questions and stuff. I
- 8:23Speaker 2: got her Instagram and she's a dope person. She's like
- 8:26Speaker 2: another one of AO. She's not one of them type
- 8:29Speaker 2: people that stand offish. So when I hit her up
- 8:32Speaker 2: on Instagram, she responded like it's like nothing, like she
- 8:35Speaker 2: wasn't you know, Oh I don't really know you like that,
- 8:38Speaker 2: so you not know Hollywood stuff. Yeah, So and now
- 8:42Speaker 2: we started talking and then she told me to get
- 8:46Speaker 2: my pro tool certification and stuff. And I did that
- 8:49Speaker 2: and then I told her I got it. She was
- 8:51Speaker 2: happy for me. And then and then as soon as
- 8:54Speaker 2: I graduated, she told me they was looking for people
- 8:56Speaker 2: and so like she helped me get my resume together
- 8:59Speaker 2: and everything, Like he really took time to help me.
- 9:01Speaker 2: So I really appreciate her for that. Like that's genuinely and.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Even that just somebody who just met from networking.
- 9:08Speaker 2: From networking, from just doing little extracurricular stuff and ran
- 9:13Speaker 2: into her and stayed in contact, you know, because some
- 9:16Speaker 2: people will reach out, but they they scared to keep
- 9:19Speaker 2: reaching out. You know, these people that you're reaching out
- 9:21Speaker 2: to is busy. You're not the only person reaching out
- 9:24Speaker 2: to them. So like somebody will reach out and then just.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Say that's That's one thing I definitely noticed about people
- 9:30Speaker 1: that kind of don't really do stuff. They just kind
- 9:35Speaker 1: of talk about it. They'll reach out to somebody one
- 9:38Speaker 1: time and very impersonal even like a text or a
- 9:42Speaker 1: DM or something about something that they want to do,
- 9:45Speaker 1: and they don't ever follow up, and they feel a
- 9:47Speaker 1: certain type of way about that person. Oh man, Like,
- 9:51Speaker 1: it's exactly what you said. People moving around, people busy,
- 9:54Speaker 1: they might have seen your message. But if you're doing
- 9:56Speaker 1: different stuff and they don't know you like that exactly,
- 9:59Speaker 1: and you might even just seen it and got busy,
- 10:01Speaker 1: Like it might not even have been no bad intention,
- 10:02Speaker 1: but it's like, if it's something you want to do,
- 10:05Speaker 1: you got to pursue it even like you know, me
- 10:07Speaker 1: and Joe recently did the event at the winery spot
- 10:11Speaker 1: the Vineyard and it went super dope. We literally did
- 10:14Speaker 1: like ten times what they usually do on those days.
- 10:16Speaker 1: So yo, man, it went and went so so well.
- 10:19Speaker 1: The owner, Clint was super happy with how it went.
- 10:21Speaker 1: But even with Clint, when I reached out to him,
- 10:25Speaker 1: I had to follow up, you know what I'm saying,
- 10:27Speaker 1: because one he's busy, and two he gets a lot
- 10:30Speaker 1: of inquiries.
- 10:30Speaker 3: From a lot of people running the whole business.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Exactly a lot of people hitting you up all the
- 10:35Speaker 1: time with BS. Yeah I got I gotta be persistent
- 10:39Speaker 1: and let him know, like, yo, I'm serious.
- 10:40Speaker 2: You know that's what I had to do, Like to
- 10:42Speaker 2: get that opportunity, I had to straight up put everything aside,
- 10:45Speaker 2: like I straight up told you, and like I'll clean
- 10:48Speaker 2: the whole studio from top to bottom. You can eat
- 10:50Speaker 2: off the flow, Like that's how serious I am about this,
- 10:53Speaker 2: Like I'm not playing, Like I don't care about my pride,
- 10:56Speaker 2: ain't too ain't bigger than a toilet.
- 10:58Speaker 3: I don't care if I go to clean.
- 11:00Speaker 2: This toilet to be around these people, who's gonna teach
- 11:02Speaker 2: me how to get from here to here?
- 11:04Speaker 3: I'm an clean that toil every day.
- 11:06Speaker 2: In fact, I'm not tripping, like I'm not an egotistical
- 11:09Speaker 2: person who feel like, well I done, I did this,
- 11:12Speaker 2: and I work with this person. I've been in this studio,
- 11:14Speaker 2: So I'm not starting from the bottom to you know,
- 11:17Speaker 2: I'm not working my way back up again, Like none
- 11:20Speaker 2: of that matters to me. What matters to me is
- 11:23Speaker 2: knowledge growing, being progress, like.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Being AJ was talking about earlier, Like how can we
- 11:30Speaker 1: put together something like for like local artists, that's actually
- 11:33Speaker 1: dope that people will want to pull up to, and
- 11:36Speaker 1: AJ was like, man, one of the problems with that
- 11:38Speaker 1: is the ego that most artists bring, you know. And
- 11:42Speaker 1: it's one of those things like not even just artists,
- 11:44Speaker 1: just people in general, Like a lot of people just
- 11:46Speaker 1: feel like they're too good for certain things when they
- 11:48Speaker 1: haven't even done an entry level version of it, right,
- 11:51Speaker 1: and a lot.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Of these people that they look up to like making
- 11:54Speaker 2: this staying. I've seen her documentary. She was saying she
- 11:57Speaker 2: was performing at venues that nobody was there facts, you
- 12:00Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, And she still was still showing
- 12:02Speaker 2: up a lot of people. Oh nobody came, so I quit,
- 12:05Speaker 2: like or like they tried me, Like I know I'm
- 12:08Speaker 2: better than that, Like yeah, that's why you gotta keep
- 12:10Speaker 2: going and keep showing people like hey, yes, I'm better
- 12:12Speaker 2: than that.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Yeah, and then not get stuck in that little cycle
- 12:15Speaker 1: of like I'm just trying to make these ten people
- 12:18Speaker 1: around me feel like I'm the dopest person, right, Like, Bro,
- 12:21Speaker 1: there's a whole world out there, a whole fan base
- 12:24Speaker 1: that's looking for you, but you're not finding them because
- 12:27Speaker 1: you're mad that your friend from third grade is not
- 12:29Speaker 1: your biggest fan, Like it don't make no sense.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Yeah, And then it's been times like I recorded people
- 12:36Speaker 2: who is like very well known and I didn't know
- 12:39Speaker 2: who they was. Like I'm talking about I had sessions
- 12:42Speaker 2: with people who on TV shows. I didn't even know
- 12:46Speaker 2: who they was when they walked in, Like I'm just like, okay,
- 12:48Speaker 2: another person.
- 12:49Speaker 3: You know, everybody were chains.
- 12:50Speaker 2: And stuff now, so it's hard to tell who actually
- 12:52Speaker 2: got money or who don't you know, so it's like, okay,
- 12:55Speaker 2: another person would have chained on who probably fit the rap.
- 12:58Speaker 3: Let's go. It's another session.
- 13:01Speaker 2: And then next thing, you know, like I always network,
- 13:04Speaker 2: so you know, I start talking to there, we got
- 13:06Speaker 2: close or whatever, and we're like, oh, give me your Instagram,
- 13:08Speaker 2: and then I follow the Instagram.
- 13:09Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, you on a whole TV show.
- 13:12Speaker 2: I'm treating you like regular and you on the whole
- 13:16Speaker 2: TV show.
- 13:16Speaker 3: But that still ain't changed nothing.
- 13:18Speaker 2: I still treated them the way I was treating them,
- 13:20Speaker 2: but it was just like wow, like you don't know
- 13:22Speaker 2: who you in front of. That's why you treat every
- 13:26Speaker 2: session the same. It's not because oh this person a
- 13:30Speaker 2: huge superstar. So now I'm finna try to add like
- 13:32Speaker 2: I'm you know, I'm put on my professional pants today.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Like no, I treat every session the same, whether it's
- 13:38Speaker 2: a regular smeglative.
- 13:39Speaker 3: You got two followers.
- 13:40Speaker 2: If this show sung and you care about it, I'm
- 13:42Speaker 2: finna care about it with you, like I don't care
- 13:44Speaker 2: if you got That's how.
- 13:46Speaker 1: You get to that position by approaching everything with the
- 13:50Speaker 1: same level of work and commitment and integrity.
- 13:53Speaker 3: You gotta have integrity.
- 13:54Speaker 1: It's like something we were talking about before we started
- 13:56Speaker 1: recording is like there's so many similarities in being successful
- 14:00Speaker 1: in anything, like you as an engineer, you know, somebody
- 14:05Speaker 1: as a business owner, somebody running a TV show, ao
- 14:08Speaker 1: running the studio. You know, everything has the same principles
- 14:12Speaker 1: as far as like you got to be consistent, you
- 14:15Speaker 1: gotta be reliable, you got to show up every day,
- 14:17Speaker 1: you gotta work hard, learn new things. Always know that
- 14:20Speaker 1: you can learn, you know what I mean, And all
- 14:23Speaker 1: those like details and all those things are what make
- 14:26Speaker 1: you successful. And that's why, like people could kind of
- 14:29Speaker 1: sit around that aren't really like in the same kind
- 14:32Speaker 1: of field or like the same kind of job or whatever,
- 14:35Speaker 1: and you could still like chop it up and feel
- 14:38Speaker 1: where each other's coming from if hard.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Workers you know what I mean and completely understand exactly
- 14:46Speaker 2: and feel exactly what that person's saying to y'all end
- 14:48Speaker 2: completely different fields, but it just goes hand in hand
- 14:51Speaker 2: with like you said, just being persistent and hardworking, like
- 14:54Speaker 2: no matter what you're doing.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Yeah, something like I messed up on when I was
- 14:58Speaker 1: younger that I took way too long to learn was
- 15:03Speaker 1: you're not disloyal for leaving the group of people that
- 15:07Speaker 1: you grew up with to do things if they don't
- 15:09Speaker 1: have the same vision or if they're not working the
- 15:12Speaker 1: same as you, like you get like at least I
- 15:15Speaker 1: don't know about you, but like for me, like a
- 15:18Speaker 1: low income neighborhood, like we was all broke, so like
- 15:21Speaker 1: you have this mentality like, oh, you can't win without
- 15:24Speaker 1: your homies because that's messed up like when you're younger,
- 15:27Speaker 1: you know, and then you realize like, yeah, but this
- 15:30Speaker 1: person don't this person hasn't done anything this last year,
- 15:34Speaker 1: or this person wants to be a civil engineer, or
- 15:39Speaker 1: this person wants to do like flooring or something like
- 15:42Speaker 1: why why are y'all trying to all alione do the same?
- 15:44Speaker 2: Oh?
- 15:44Speaker 1: I gotta come up with you bro.
- 15:46Speaker 2: So then when you end up doing something that your
- 15:49Speaker 2: homeboy doing because he doing.
- 15:51Speaker 3: Good at it, but that's not your route.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Just because your homeboy doing good at it, that don't
- 15:55Speaker 2: mean you finna hop in there and do good at it.
- 15:58Speaker 2: You don't have the same ambition or that as your homeboil, homegirl, whoever.
- 16:02Speaker 1: You grew up with exactly.
- 16:04Speaker 2: You know how many people I started doing music with
- 16:06Speaker 2: who I probably don't even really talk at them like that,
- 16:09Speaker 2: but when I see them, it's still all love and
- 16:12Speaker 2: it's still ay. I see what you're doing, you turning up,
- 16:15Speaker 2: you're putting on whatever.
- 16:16Speaker 3: It's never bad vibes.
- 16:18Speaker 2: But I also have those people where and I can't
- 16:22Speaker 2: stand these type of people. The first ones watch every
- 16:25Speaker 2: story like you know, see every post, but never react
- 16:29Speaker 2: to it.
- 16:29Speaker 3: You never show love or whatever.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Or then people like that have never like you said,
- 16:35Speaker 1: they've never shown you any love, like you wouldn't even
- 16:38Speaker 1: know that they're tapped in. But then when you see
- 16:40Speaker 1: them in person, they know stuff.
- 16:42Speaker 3: They know more stuff about you than you.
- 16:43Speaker 1: They're locked in there. You're like damn, Like they mentioned
- 16:46Speaker 1: something from a random story or something, You're like, dang,
- 16:48Speaker 1: you remember, like you was tapped in like that that
- 16:50Speaker 1: the story I posted three weeks ago you're talking to
- 16:53Speaker 1: me about, you know what I mean, Like but it
- 16:55Speaker 1: be that man like And there's another funny thing about
- 16:58Speaker 1: that too that we've talked about before, or like sometimes
- 17:01Speaker 1: it don't even just it don't even be like a
- 17:02Speaker 1: bad intention. Some people just don't be Like I've caught
- 17:05Speaker 1: myself scrolling and seeing something and thinking it's dope, and
- 17:09Speaker 1: I might tell three people and forget to even like it,
- 17:13Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like I might pull it
- 17:14Speaker 1: up and be like, damn, you see what Mari's doing. Yo,
- 17:17Speaker 1: She's this is super dope. Oh yo, I met Marie
- 17:20Speaker 1: da da da da day, And then by the end,
- 17:22Speaker 1: I might even just scroll, keep scrolling or whatever, you know,
- 17:25Speaker 1: because I'm just not like my brain is. I'm trying
- 17:27Speaker 1: to be better about it, but my brain isn't like
- 17:29Speaker 1: that because I'm like a little older, so I'm not
- 17:31Speaker 1: really like one of those like online, you know what
- 17:34Speaker 1: I mean. So like I've had to adjust that, you
- 17:37Speaker 1: know what i mean.
- 17:38Speaker 3: That's real.
- 17:39Speaker 1: But yeah, and even like it kind of like we're
- 17:43Speaker 1: talking about, like you see the support and sometimes you
- 17:47Speaker 1: feel like it's not there but people be tapped in
- 17:50Speaker 1: and even sometimes it just be like even for me,
- 17:53Speaker 1: like sometimes I just had to realize like I just
- 17:56Speaker 1: wasn't good enough at that time, you know what I mean.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Like you sometimes get mad like damn, man, they didn't
- 18:01Speaker 1: do this, they didn't do that. But it's like I'm
- 18:03Speaker 1: just starting, you know what I mean, They don't they're
- 18:05Speaker 1: not trying to be listening or supporting some wax stuff
- 18:09Speaker 1: like we were talking about Justin Bieber's out there yeah, yeah,
- 18:12Speaker 1: doing a million dollar video and I'm trying to force
- 18:15Speaker 1: you to watch my two hundred dollars video. Like I
- 18:18Speaker 1: can't get mad that you're rocking with that unless I'm
- 18:20Speaker 1: bringing something that is like undeniably like nah, you got
- 18:24Speaker 1: to tap into this, you know what I mean. And
- 18:25Speaker 1: it takes so long to even get to that point,
- 18:27Speaker 1: like cause like for example, like me as an artist,
- 18:31Speaker 1: before I was singing, I was rapping, you know what
- 18:33Speaker 1: I mean, because you know the neighborhood thing, everybody twenty
- 18:36Speaker 1: people in the closet, it goes down and down and down,
- 18:39Speaker 1: and yep, eventually it's just two or three and they're
- 18:42Speaker 1: the only ones that keep doing it, you know what
- 18:44Speaker 1: I mean. Like and then like when I switched to
- 18:47Speaker 1: the singing, it's like I'm coming up on like ten
- 18:49Speaker 1: years of it, so like I'm getting to that point
- 18:52Speaker 1: now where like with the singing, like with the rap,
- 18:54Speaker 1: I was in my mind I had that downpack, you
- 18:56Speaker 1: know what I mean, Like I was already I had
- 18:58Speaker 1: been rapping so long that I was ready on it,
- 19:00Speaker 1: you know what I mean. But like with the singing,
- 19:02Speaker 1: you like have to readjust so for me, it's like
- 19:05Speaker 1: I have already been through it with the rapper, I know,
- 19:08Speaker 1: like all right, I gotta I gotta create this sound
- 19:10Speaker 1: first and then and then people will rock with it,
- 19:13Speaker 1: you know what I mean. And it's like as an artist,
- 19:16Speaker 1: like kind of like AJ was saying with the ego thing,
- 19:18Speaker 1: like it's hard for some artists because they just feel
- 19:21Speaker 1: like I'm doing this, you should support me because I
- 19:25Speaker 1: decided I'm gonna do it, And it's like it don't
- 19:27Speaker 1: work like that, you know, you got you gotta people
- 19:30Speaker 1: support what they want to support exactly. And it even
- 19:32Speaker 1: like something we're talking about before too, is like some
- 19:36Speaker 1: maybe that's not even the type of content that they
- 19:38Speaker 1: like period, Like if you're a rapper and they don't
- 19:41Speaker 1: listen to rap? Why are they gonna support you just
- 19:45Speaker 1: because you're the friend, you know what I mean?
- 19:47Speaker 3: And they listen to rock music.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Exactly exactly, So it's always I always like, I always
- 19:55Speaker 1: think it's funny and I like to kind of look
- 19:57Speaker 1: at both sides with that, because you know, as a
- 20:01Speaker 1: content creator and as an artist and stuff like, you
- 20:04Speaker 1: want to have that thought of like, man, like, why
- 20:07Speaker 1: why isn't more people that know me rocking with or
- 20:10Speaker 1: this and that, like or even with like the event
- 20:12Speaker 1: that we did. When me and Joe were talking about
- 20:14Speaker 1: it beforehand, we were like expressing some like concerns about
- 20:21Speaker 1: like the distance of the venue compared to like people
- 20:24Speaker 1: that we know. So it's like, dang, Like do we
- 20:27Speaker 1: want to do it at a place that's forty minutes
- 20:29Speaker 1: away from people that made people that we rock with? Yeah,
- 20:32Speaker 1: And then I was like, man like, at the end
- 20:34Speaker 1: of the day, exactly, at the end of the day,
- 20:37Speaker 1: if we get randoms there, we believe in this concept,
- 20:40Speaker 1: so we'll feel it. It might not be our friends,
- 20:43Speaker 1: but we'll feel it. And lo and behold, the day came.
- 20:46Speaker 1: It was probably like fifteen percent people we knew and
- 20:48Speaker 1: eighty five percent randoms just from like the promo that
- 20:51Speaker 1: we did behind it, you know what i mean. And
- 20:54Speaker 1: it's like then the people that we rock with are
- 20:57Speaker 1: going to come after, but you.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Also get more respect from people that you don't know.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Yeah, it's that like the same thing that happens when
- 21:04Speaker 1: you like go out of town for something, Like when
- 21:07Speaker 1: you go out of town for music and you rubbing
- 21:09Speaker 1: shoulders with people, the vibes be so good because they
- 21:11Speaker 1: don't know you, so it's like they don't know you,
- 21:14Speaker 1: you don't know them, so you're like all energetic happy.
- 21:17Speaker 1: They're doing the same thing that the people in your
- 21:18Speaker 1: town are doing. You just feel differently about it because
- 21:21Speaker 1: you're out of town, you know what i mean. And
- 21:23Speaker 1: it just be so funny how that works, like with
- 21:26Speaker 1: you know, like with with Ao and Ian, like they're
- 21:30Speaker 1: super tapped in the people they work with. The stuff
- 21:32Speaker 1: that they do is like super high level and stuff,
- 21:35Speaker 1: and so many people around Orlando feel like you got
- 21:39Speaker 1: to go everywhere else, you know what i mean, And
- 21:41Speaker 1: it's like you don't have to go somewhere else. You
- 21:43Speaker 1: just have to bring that out of town energy here,
- 21:46Speaker 1: you know what i mean, The same energy you leave
- 21:48Speaker 1: in this city with you got to bring that here
- 21:51Speaker 1: and understand that it's a different game here that it
- 21:54Speaker 1: isn't like in other cities. You know, like there's no
- 21:56Speaker 1: record labels out here, Like there's no you know, the
- 21:59Speaker 1: music scene. It's kind of dry out here. So like
- 22:01Speaker 1: you got to figure out how to get it where
- 22:03Speaker 1: you fit in, you know, or.
- 22:05Speaker 2: How to bring the music scene or you know, bring
- 22:08Speaker 2: it back, because all them cities did. Wherever city that's
- 22:12Speaker 2: popping with the music scene, they just brought the music
- 22:14Speaker 2: scene to their city. It ain't like, oh, out of nowhere,
- 22:18Speaker 2: now this is the music scene. No, Like they brought
- 22:20Speaker 2: that to their.
- 22:21Speaker 1: City with the culture sound.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Yeah, so you just got to do the same where
- 22:28Speaker 3: you are.
- 22:28Speaker 2: There's a lot of people told me, oh, you got
- 22:30Speaker 2: to leave Orlando, you know, if you want to do stuff,
- 22:33Speaker 2: like if you want to do cool stuff, you got
- 22:36Speaker 2: to leave Orlando.
- 22:37Speaker 1: And like I'm like, nah, But it's also because you're
- 22:42Speaker 1: a hard worker and you know that you can make
- 22:44Speaker 1: it happen, you know what I'm saying. Like a lot
- 22:45Speaker 1: of people they always need that thing to look forward
- 22:50Speaker 1: to to believe that they can make something happen. Like oh,
- 22:53Speaker 1: if only I get this next job, then I'll finally this.
- 22:56Speaker 1: If only I get you know, moved to this place
- 22:58Speaker 1: or whatever. It's like the lace or the whatever you're
- 23:01Speaker 1: looking at is not gonna fix it. You need you
- 23:03Speaker 1: need to feel whatever you feel and get to that
- 23:06Speaker 1: point yourself where you'll make it happen. You know what
- 23:10Speaker 1: I mean? Because so many people think something is gonna
- 23:12Speaker 1: like cure cure things for them, and it's like man like,
- 23:16Speaker 1: until you attack like the bad habits you got and
- 23:19Speaker 1: really just start addressing that, that's when that's when the
- 23:23Speaker 1: stuff gets real.
- 23:24Speaker 3: That's what it's gonna change. You're gonna see the change.
- 23:26Speaker 2: And that's what I noticed too, like just being more
- 23:29Speaker 2: disciplined and like like you said, like happens and stuff
- 23:32Speaker 2: instead of just doing random stuff or watching random stuff.
- 23:37Speaker 2: That's just like brain rot watch stuff that benefits me.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Like I'm always watching how to mix this or how
- 23:44Speaker 2: to use this plug in or what you.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Know, like stuff like that.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Like if I'm gonna watch something random, it's gonna be
- 23:50Speaker 2: random like that, like how to who who was involved
- 23:55Speaker 2: in this song or whatever.
- 23:56Speaker 3: It's always some something.
- 23:58Speaker 2: To do with music, and a lot of people who
- 24:00Speaker 2: I know who is successful mixers and stuff like that.
- 24:03Speaker 3: All they say is, oh, I just listen to stuff.
- 24:06Speaker 2: I just always listen to stuff, like even if it's
- 24:09Speaker 2: an auto like audio book instead of reading a book,
- 24:12Speaker 2: they'll listen to the book. And it's like that's when
- 24:16Speaker 2: you start realizing those smaller nuances and like different stuff
- 24:20Speaker 2: that regular listens listeners won't hear.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 24:25Speaker 1: And it's like one of those things with being on
- 24:28Speaker 1: point and being disciplined and everything is like I get
- 24:33Speaker 1: so many people that will hit me up, like people
- 24:36Speaker 1: I know from before, people I meet or whatever that
- 24:38Speaker 1: like want me to put them on with something like
- 24:41Speaker 1: put them on with the venue for the event, put
- 24:44Speaker 1: them on with doing something at the studio, put them whatever,
- 24:47Speaker 1: whatever it is, just because they see that I'm doing.
- 24:49Speaker 1: It's like, bro, like it's not about putting you on.
- 24:52Speaker 1: It's like you got to show up in these spaces and.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Working you benefit instead of exactly you're not really being
- 25:00Speaker 2: but where can you as where can you add value?
- 25:04Speaker 3: Rather than what can we do for you?
- 25:08Speaker 2: And that's what like, because a lot of people been
- 25:10Speaker 2: hit me up to like that I was in school with.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Once they seen like Ao post Me or whatever, and
- 25:15Speaker 2: like they was asking me questions and stuff, and.
- 25:18Speaker 3: It was like.
- 25:20Speaker 2: People approach a lot of studios and stuff at like
- 25:23Speaker 2: telling the studio what the studio can do for them,
- 25:26Speaker 2: but they never go to the studio and tell the
- 25:27Speaker 2: studio what they can do for the studio, like we
- 25:30Speaker 2: know why you want to be here, Why do we
- 25:33Speaker 2: need you here? Like it's no reason that we need
- 25:36Speaker 2: you here if you just here because you just want
- 25:37Speaker 2: to be here yep.
- 25:38Speaker 1: And it kind of goes back to the habits thing too.
- 25:40Speaker 1: It's like people don't want to attack that they have
- 25:43Speaker 1: to change certain habits to be successful, and they keep
- 25:46Speaker 1: thinking it's going to be this or that or you
- 25:48Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. You always think there's like a
- 25:50Speaker 1: little secret you always think when you're in that position.
- 25:54Speaker 1: I notice people always think that, Like people that are
- 25:56Speaker 1: being successful are like trying to like like you're gonna
- 26:01Speaker 1: come and say, like I remember a long time ago,
- 26:03Speaker 1: I had somebody hit me like once they seen like
- 26:05Speaker 1: my music starting to gain traction and stuff, Yo, I
- 26:11Speaker 1: got this song I'm releasing. I want to do kind
- 26:14Speaker 1: of like what you're doing. But I wanted to be
- 26:16Speaker 1: legit and I'm like.
- 26:20Speaker 3: That's a bank.
- 26:21Speaker 1: I was like. I was like, Bro, what I'm doing
- 26:24Speaker 1: is legit. It's the result of all this music I've
- 26:28Speaker 1: been putting out all these weekly at the studio like
- 26:32Speaker 1: X Y and Z. I don't have a secret for you, bro,
- 26:35Speaker 1: there's no secret. I'm running ads on the music, seeing
- 26:38Speaker 1: what works, the ones that are converting, well, I keep
- 26:41Speaker 1: running ads on those. I'm doing content weekly, I'm doing
- 26:46Speaker 1: songs weekly. I'm not there's not I can't tell you anything, bro.
- 26:50Speaker 1: And the person kind of was like salty with my answer,
- 26:54Speaker 1: because again he thought I had some kind of secret
- 26:57Speaker 1: I was holding back from him. And it's like, Bro,
- 27:00Speaker 1: it don't work like that. It's work consistency. You can't
- 27:03Speaker 1: escape it. It's like the thing I always say. He's like,
- 27:06Speaker 1: because I ain't go to school, but I still had
- 27:10Speaker 1: to pay that bluff sweam in tears. Somehow, you have
- 27:13Speaker 1: to pay that blusd sweat and tears. Somehow. People don't
- 27:16Speaker 1: want to do it. They try to avoid it as
- 27:18Speaker 1: much as they can. But until you hit that ground
- 27:23Speaker 1: and really put in the work, it ain't gonna happen.
- 27:26Speaker 1: It's not gonna happen.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Like he said, like he said he begged to go
- 27:31Speaker 2: to to like intern that plush and he said he
- 27:34Speaker 2: was on the way to Tempa with his girl.
- 27:36Speaker 3: He begged. I mean, he promised his girl a trump to.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Busch Gardens and got the call and was like, hey,
- 27:42Speaker 2: if you show up right.
- 27:43Speaker 3: Now, you got the job. And he literally looked at
- 27:45Speaker 3: this girl was like, damn. Sorry.
- 27:50Speaker 2: So it's like it's gonna be a lot of that
- 27:53Speaker 2: when you go on where you're trying to go.
- 27:55Speaker 1: I love him. He ain't got a lot of good
- 27:58Speaker 1: like determination stories, and that's why I want to get
- 28:01Speaker 1: him on here. I talked to I talked to him
- 28:03Speaker 1: and he said, he's down. I think I might have
- 28:05Speaker 1: to bring it to him. I think we might have
- 28:06Speaker 1: to do it over there.
- 28:07Speaker 3: He showed the cameras too.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, because man, like I'm not even gonna tell
- 28:12Speaker 1: it because I would want him to tell it. But
- 28:14Speaker 1: even like a story he told me about how he
- 28:16Speaker 1: ended up mixing some music like and it was like
- 28:18Speaker 1: a two it was like a two year thing that
- 28:21Speaker 1: he was determined that basically they was like no, and
- 28:26Speaker 1: he ended after two years. He ended up Like I said,
- 28:29Speaker 1: I don't want to tell it because he obviously is
- 28:31Speaker 1: history and it's way better if you don't. Man. Like,
- 28:35Speaker 1: that's the kind of stuff that gets me going when
- 28:37Speaker 1: I hear people say stuff like that, like it just
- 28:40Speaker 1: lets me know, Like even like I was saying with
- 28:42Speaker 1: the event thing like that's just like when you when
- 28:45Speaker 1: you get something from like hard working determination and then
- 28:48Speaker 1: you see it happen, you're like that that just puts
- 28:51Speaker 1: an extra battery in your back of like I got it.
- 28:55Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a difference.
- 28:56Speaker 1: I worked hard enough and I'm working hard enough, and
- 28:59Speaker 1: I got to the work ethic and the determination that
- 29:02Speaker 1: I know if I make if I want to line
- 29:04Speaker 1: something up, it'll get lined up. Right.
- 29:07Speaker 2: It's a different feeling when you realize like, Okay, I
- 29:11Speaker 2: did this facts. It's not like oh this was handed
- 29:14Speaker 2: to me or I got a short cut, Like nah,
- 29:17Speaker 2: like I did this like everything all the like you said,
- 29:22Speaker 2: the long nights, the seeing what works, seeing what doesn't.
- 29:27Speaker 2: You know, it's a different feeling. It's just it's so
- 29:33Speaker 2: it's so fulfilling to see like you was determined to
- 29:36Speaker 2: do something and actually got the results from it that
- 29:40Speaker 2: you actually wanted.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Yeah, and kind of like to start winding down me
- 29:46Speaker 1: that's like a thing with uh with skateboarding, like me
- 29:48Speaker 1: and Ajs. He've been skateboarding longer than me and he's
- 29:51Speaker 1: super dope. But I've gotten back into it in like
- 29:54Speaker 1: the last like six months or so because there's a
- 29:57Speaker 1: dope skate park close to here, and I've been so
- 30:00Speaker 1: like determined to stick with it because I love that
- 30:03Speaker 1: part of skateboarding where it's like you have to let
- 30:06Speaker 1: go of the fear and you have to be consistent
- 30:10Speaker 1: to finally get these things done. And it's like one
- 30:12Speaker 1: of those things that I love it as a hobby
- 30:14Speaker 1: because one is super fun and two like it keeps
- 30:18Speaker 1: that in the forefront of my mind all the time,
- 30:21Speaker 1: that like what you can and can't do is determined
- 30:24Speaker 1: by how hard you're gonna work and if you're willing
- 30:27Speaker 1: to take the resk, you know what I mean.
- 30:29Speaker 2: I've seen a meme and it was like, fear kills
- 30:33Speaker 2: more dreams than failure ever can facts and that really
- 30:37Speaker 2: stuck with me, Like so anytime, like how I was
- 30:40Speaker 2: scared to hit up in in about trying to get
- 30:41Speaker 2: in probably mapp.
- 30:42Speaker 3: I was scared.
- 30:43Speaker 2: I was like, I'm not f in Texas, man. But
- 30:45Speaker 2: then when I seen that post, I was like, nah,
- 30:48Speaker 2: I'm not finna be that person like that. Let fear
- 30:52Speaker 2: take away an opportunity for me. And it's crazy how
- 30:55Speaker 2: it actually worked out.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Yeah, sometime, I'm reading a book a long time ago,
- 30:59Speaker 1: and I believe it was the rich that poort. That
- 31:01Speaker 1: book was the only way to double your success is
- 31:05Speaker 1: to double your failures. And when I heard, I was like,
- 31:08Speaker 1: that clicked in my head. I'm like, it's like baseball,
- 31:12Speaker 1: like a great a great slugger in baseball hits the
- 31:16Speaker 1: ball three out of ten times and they're legendary if
- 31:20Speaker 1: they hit three out of ten times. Like when you
- 31:23Speaker 1: think about that, and even basketball, like a good field
- 31:26Speaker 1: goal percentage is fifty percent. That means you hitting five
- 31:29Speaker 1: out of ten times, and you're great if you can
- 31:31Speaker 1: hit five out of ten times. And that's like the
- 31:34Speaker 1: thing people need to apply.
- 31:35Speaker 3: A lot of people don't even try once exactly.
- 31:38Speaker 2: That's why I make you great because a lot of
- 31:40Speaker 2: people once they feel that first and second time, they like,
- 31:43Speaker 2: you know what, they throw the basketball.
- 31:44Speaker 3: They don't even care about it no more.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Yep.
- 31:46Speaker 2: So that's what makes that's what makes the line between
- 31:51Speaker 2: people who just do average stuff and then people who
- 31:54Speaker 2: actually do more than you know, do more with what
- 31:58Speaker 2: they're doing, because a lot of people just quit for real, Like.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Yep, Yeah, I definitely appreciate you coming on today. You
- 32:07Speaker 1: came out as a last minute replacement, but I definitely
- 32:10Speaker 1: had you like on my mind to be on the
- 32:12Speaker 1: show talk about this, because that was super dope. Do
- 32:16Speaker 1: you have anything in particular you want to leave people
- 32:19Speaker 1: with or anything where I'm gonna have your socials on
- 32:21Speaker 1: the episode and everything. So aside from that, you got
- 32:24Speaker 1: anything else, any projects you're working on?
- 32:27Speaker 2: Oh yeah, be on the lookout for Smoking Mirrors by Corey.
- 32:33Speaker 2: She's getting ready to drop that. I just finished mixing
- 32:35Speaker 2: that today actually, and yeah, that's pretty much like that's
- 32:41Speaker 2: been my main focus so far. And don't let failure
- 32:45Speaker 2: cure your dreams, man, Facts, straight up facts,
