Tel Aviv light rail launch draws protests over Sabbath shut down
Protests are planned in Tel Aviv on Friday, when the first line in the Tel Aviv metropolitan light rail system is due to begin operations, over the decision not to let it operate on the Sabbath. The Red Line route runs between Bat Yam and Petach Tikva, via the greater Tel Aviv area. Tel Aviv Deputy Mayor Meital Lahavi spoke to KAN's Mark Weiss.
