- 2:20Speaker 3: We will be meditating on James 119 from the King
- 2:23Speaker 3: James Version. The scripture says, Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let
- 2:30Speaker 3: every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and
- 2:36Speaker 3: slow to wrath, slow to anger. Take a moment to
- 2:42Speaker 3: pour out your adoration to God for his guidance. God,
- 2:47Speaker 3: I thank you that you are real and that you
- 2:50Speaker 3: hear me. That you have given me the ability of self-control. God,
- 2:59Speaker 3: that you love me and have concern for and over me.
- 3:06Speaker 3: I praise you for giving me wisdom and guidance, for
- 3:12Speaker 3: molding my character, for calling me to greater things and
- 3:18Speaker 3: for a higher purpose. I thank you that through Christ
- 3:23Speaker 3: who strengthens me, I can do all things. The Bible
- 3:30Speaker 3: teaches us to be willing to listen, to be careful
- 3:33Speaker 3: with our words, and to control our emotions. This can
- 3:40Speaker 3: be tough, as life, as you know, is unpredictable. People
- 3:47Speaker 3: say and do a lot that provokes, that aggravates, that hurts,
- 3:53Speaker 3: that grieves us.
- 3:56Speaker 4: Maybe it ticks us off.
- 3:58Speaker 3: The harsh words spoken in anger can destroy close bonds
- 4:02Speaker 3: and deprive you of an amazing relationship. Sometimes we just
- 4:10Speaker 3: mess it up. You're struggling with this because you are
- 4:15Speaker 3: relying on yourself when you should be relying on the.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Spirit of God to guide you.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Lift up to God those emotions that seem to always
- 4:26Speaker 3: get the best of you.
- 4:28Speaker 4: Be honest with yourself and with God in prayer.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Confess to Him the areas that you're struggling with. Think
- 4:41Speaker 3: for a minute on all the times God.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Helped you to exercise self-control.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Those moments where God gave you the compassion to listen.
- 4:55Speaker 4: The knowledge to speak wisdom and not folly.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Situations where anger threatened to overwhelm you, but the Holy
- 5:06Speaker 3: Spirit taught you control. Thank God for all those past
- 5:13Speaker 3: relationships where you helped, where you were a blessing to others.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Now think of all the areas you want to improve in,
- 5:26Speaker 3: and thank God for the growth to come. I believe
- 5:32Speaker 3: God is present and that he's listening to you. Having
- 5:39Speaker 3: control is not effortless, but it is obtainable. God never
- 5:46Speaker 3: said that you wouldn't feel anger. He said, in your anger,
- 5:52Speaker 3: don't sin. So rather, he gave you the ability to
- 5:56Speaker 3: manage it, to control it. The Holy Spirit is on
- 6:00Speaker 3: your side. And He wants to help you.
- 6:02Speaker 4: So be bold and ask Him.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Ask the Spirit of God to help control your emotions
- 6:12Speaker 3: and behavior. Ask Him for compassion and interest when others
- 6:17Speaker 3: are sharing. Ask Him to help you consider your words
- 6:20Speaker 3: before you speak them. Ask Him to help you to
- 6:25Speaker 3: not let the actions of others control you. or consume you.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Ask the Holy Spirit to bear His fruit in your life. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,
- 6:50Speaker 3: and of course, self-control. Remember, you should always be willing
- 6:57Speaker 3: to listen, You should think things through before you say them.
- 7:02Speaker 4: And you should not.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Easily become angered or mad. Apply these same principles in
- 7:12Speaker 3: your life and your relationships will flourish. Trust God and
- 7:19Speaker 3: in the power and promise of his word, don't forget.
- 7:25Speaker 4: God is with you. He's in your corner. And He's
- 7:29Speaker 4: cheering for you.
