- 0:02The vital envelope sends us signals if we are able to
- 0:05perceive them. Sometimes we begin to feel run
- 0:08down, tired, exhausted, or stressed out.
- 0:13We may begin to feel a little feverish or feel the beginning
- 0:18of what we might call a cold or sore throat occurring.
- 0:21This is prior to the full expression of an illness and may
- 0:25just be the feeling or sense the individual receives.
- 0:30This is an early warning signal that something is trying to
- 0:33breakthrough the first line of defence of the body and manifest
- 0:37an illness. Recently it was reported that an
- 0:41individual started feeling specific, intense itching along
- 0:44a band of the trunk of the body which corresponded to the
- 0:48appearance of shingles. No rash had broken out, but the
- 0:53symptomology followed that of the outbreak of shingles and the
- 0:57individual confirmed both that he had had a case of chicken pox
- 1:01as a child precursor with the same virus that stays in the
- 1:05body, and that he had contacted A physician who reviewed the
- 1:09case and confirmed that it was a case of shingles.
- 1:13And he should expect the rash to appear within three to four days
- 1:16of that time. The interesting part of the
- 1:20story is that the physician prescribed a dietary supplement
- 1:24that he indicated had an antiviral action and within a
- 1:29few days not only were the initial symptoms relieved, but
- 1:34the entire outbreak of the full blown case of shingles was
- 1:38avoided. The physician noted that the
- 1:41individual caught the symptoms early enough that apparently the
- 1:45disease condition was thrown out.
- 1:49We see several things here. First, the observation, at a
- 1:53subtle level, of symptoms that foreshadow an attack upon the
- 1:57physical body. Second, the exercise of the will
- 2:01of rejection. Third, the use of a dietary
- 2:06supplement to support the mental vital and physical belief in the
- 2:10rejection. 4th The power of belief to influence the course
- 2:15of disease under various circumstances.
- 2:19This last is actually supportive of the known placebo effect,
- 2:23where an individual is given a substance he believes to be
- 2:26effective, even if it is purely inert.
- 2:30And this belief effectuates a cure or remission in over 30% of
- 2:35the cases without use of any actual medicine, whether one
- 2:40calls the mechanism the placebo effect or faith healing or auto
- 2:46suggestion. One way or the other, if the
- 2:49mind and the will can bring a force directly to the body, and
- 2:53the body accepts this force, it can overcome or throw off the
- 2:58advent of disease. Additional means of rejection
- 3:03include the use of hypnotic suggestion, or in the case of
- 3:07those who have strong devotion and openness and receptivity to
- 3:11the force of the deity, guru or guide, who then can enhance the
- 3:17individual's own force with their support.
- 3:20Sri Aurobindo writes quote Attacks of illness are attacks
- 3:25of the lower nature or of adverse forces taking advantage
- 3:29of some weakness, opening, or response in the nature.
- 3:34Like all other things that come and have got to be thrown away,
- 3:38they come from outside. If one can feel them so coming
- 3:43and get the strength and the habit to throw them away before
- 3:46they can enter the body, then one can remain free from illness
- 3:52even when the attack seems to rise from within.
- 3:55That means only that it has not been detected before it entered
- 3:59the subconscient. Once in the subconscient, the
- 4:03force that brought it rouses it from there sooner or later, and
- 4:07it invades the system. When you feel it just after it
- 4:11has entered it is because though it came direct and not through
- 4:16the subconscious, yet you could not detect it while it was still
- 4:20outside. Very often it arrives like that
- 4:23frontally or more often tangentially from the side
- 4:27direct, forcing its way through the subtle vital envelope which
- 4:32was our main armor of defence. But it can be stopped there in
- 4:37the envelope itself, before it penetrates the material body.
- 4:42Then one may feel some effect, for example feverishness or a
- 4:47tendency to cold, but there is not the full invasion of the
- 4:51malady. If it can be stopped earlier, or
- 4:55if the vital envelope of itself resists and remains strong,
- 5:00vigorous and intact, then there is no illness.
- 5:05The attack produces no physical effect and leaves no traces.
