- 0:12Speaker 1: Y'all?
- 0:12Speaker 1: It's your man, dr Kyle.
- 0:13Speaker 1: So this is an interesting thing.
- 0:16Speaker 1: I saw this recently Actually, no, I took it back.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I saw this a couple of years ago.
- 0:20Speaker 1: That I really like.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Building a list of 20 strengths, I think, is really helpful.
- 0:28Speaker 1: All right, so we always, if you're a driven individual and ambitious and you have goals and you want to do stuff, the things we always look at is what do I need to improve?
- 0:37Speaker 1: What am I bad at?
- 0:39Speaker 1: What areas of improvement are there?
- 0:41Speaker 1: And you write out negative things, which is I mean you need to do that.
- 0:45Speaker 1: You need to take a filter off and have an unfiltered look with no lens.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Pure look at, like, what you need to get better at.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Otherwise you're going to be stifled and stagnant.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Where you're at, totally understandable.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Where are my areas of improvement?
- 0:59Speaker 1: Cool.
- 1:00Speaker 1: But if we're always focusing on that, it's almost like a negative self-talk.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Sometimes, if it's too aggressive or consistently unchecked, that's the only thing we're feeding ourself.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I also like positively reinforcing things that we're good at, as in like building a list of 20 strengths, which is kind of a long list, 20 things that you're good at and that you're solid at that you think you have the knack for that's a long list.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I feel kind of weird writing it, but I like looking back at it.
- 1:35Speaker 1: I just thrive I know for me personally I know a lot of people with similar but very similar to me, but I thrive off of positive reinforcement.
- 1:44Speaker 1: I like tell me what I'm doing good at and I'll double down on that.
- 1:48Speaker 1: It just reinforces the things that we're good at and it makes us feel more confident and it makes us feel like we have more agency and more wherewithal and a feeling, ultimately, and self-esteem and a feeling that I can do this.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I could do this.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Okay, here's my areas of improvement.
- 2:07Speaker 1: This isn't for the rationale of like building, inflating someone's ego and be like I'm amazing.
- 2:12Speaker 1: It's more of balancing out the areas of improvement list and the areas of I am good at this list too, but also be realistic.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Right, like I'm really good at being a charismatic superhero.
- 2:24Speaker 1: It's like all right, dial it back.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Specific things that you're good at right.
- 2:28Speaker 1: It's relax Things that you think you're good at right.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Hey, I'm good at reading something and analyzing the main points Okay, what else are you good at?
- 2:38Speaker 1: I'm good at talking with people and getting a good rapport right Pretty quickly Cool Stuff like that.
- 2:46Speaker 1: What else are you good at?
- 2:47Speaker 1: I'm good at staying consistent with going to bed on time, that I set my, that I want to go to bed on time at right.
- 2:53Speaker 1: I'm also good at this.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I'm just saying, like, these are examples that you can take with you, and then things that there's improvement.
- 2:59Speaker 1: That would be like I need to improve my consistency with watching Instagram less, scrolling less.
- 3:07Speaker 1: That's an area of improvement, but I am good at not watching TV.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Okay, that's good, that balances it out.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I'm good at oh man, there's a lot of things you could write down that you're good at Seeing the best in people, recognizing when somebody has a need, like empathy, right Stuff that I can help make people feel I can make people laugh, right, if you're witty and have a good sense of humor.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Have a good sense of humor, let's say those were on the list for a person for the 20 strengths, all right, that just helps with positively reinforcing things that you feel you're good at.
- 3:44Speaker 1: You could double down on those and then lean into them.
- 3:46Speaker 1: I think it's okay to lean into it If somebody's like I have great.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Another thing I'm good at is just let's say this is not me personally.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Let's say somebody is enthusiastic, actually, okay, I take it back, this is me All right.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I'm good at having high energy and enthusiasm.
- 4:02Speaker 1: I've been told by multiple people that I get very passionate about what I believe in and what I want to do.
- 4:06Speaker 1: If I like something, I'm into it, I'm knowledgeable on it and I think I can help people with it.
- 4:12Speaker 1: I'm very passionate.
- 4:14Speaker 1: I'm good at being enthusiastic and passionate about a topic that I'm into and I've been told by people sometimes if it's sports or other stuff, like, yeah, you know, calm down a little bit.
- 4:27Speaker 1: And then I've been.
- 4:28Speaker 1: I'm like no, I've been told by some people otherwise, but like, oh, lean into that, double down on that, double down on the passion and enthusiasm.
- 4:39Speaker 1: And if somebody says it's too much, then the response could be then find somebody else, I'm not bothered, I don't care, I'm not hurt by that.
- 4:48Speaker 1: That's totally fine, dude, do you?
- 4:50Speaker 1: I'm not going to live my life and tailor it towards somebody else's needs.
- 4:54Speaker 1: I'm going to double down and lean into the things I'm good at.
- 4:58Speaker 1: If it's a productive, healthy thing for what you want and what you're doing in your life, I'm okay with.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Lean into that.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Double down on the enthusiasm and the passion You're going to attract people that are like-minded and are into that.
- 5:11Speaker 1: And if somebody's not into it, like it's okay, then find somebody else.
- 5:16Speaker 1: I'm not for you, then that's okay.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I'm not bad at you, but not everybody's for everybody.
- 5:21Speaker 1: That's why I don't care, it's okay.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Right, maybe I can point you in a direction.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Maybe somebody is a little bit dialed back on certain topics and passion, that's okay.
- 5:30Speaker 1: But anyway, I think writing could be a cool little exercise for a person to write out a list of 20 strengths that they're good at, that they have the knack for, that they've been told that they are positive attributes about yourself.
- 5:42Speaker 1: It just helps with confidence and reinforcing momentum and self-esteem and agency to then carry on the things for the goals you have and also the stuff that you need to improve, versus always just negative self-talk or just it could be perceived that way.
- 6:00Speaker 1: It just helps with positive reinforcement and you can tackle things maybe better and you carry yourself with better and more confidently.
- 6:05Speaker 1: It's like I can do this.
- 6:08Speaker 1: It's been really helpful, and I have all my team members do that too when they get onboarded.
- 6:12Speaker 1: It's just been an interesting thing.
- 6:14Speaker 1: And then going over it with them, it's just.
