- 0:56on the planet for sports betters. And yeah, we
- 1:02are officially in the offseason. Yeah, I don't
- 1:07know, I don't really know how to kick this one
- 1:09off. We're in a weird spot in the sports calendar.
- 1:13But we have we do have some things to talk about.
- 1:15But before we get into that, let me let me throw
- 1:18it to to Chris, how are you doing today? Doing
- 1:22good. Yeah, it's kind of that weird limbo. period
- 1:26where it's, it's summertime, you know, the birds
- 1:29are chirping and all that shit, but I don't care
- 1:31about that. I just want to bet on ball. Um, got
- 1:35a few good trend center bets going right now,
- 1:37uh, brewers up by four, um, Rangers kicking the
- 1:40shit out of the red Sox up six, nothing. So those
- 1:42are good. Um, shout out trend center. Hopefully
- 1:45those will hang on and I didn't just jinx the
- 1:47shit out of it, but yeah, nothing, not a whole
- 1:51lot to report from. from over on my neck of the
- 1:55woods. Yeah, just kind of rocking and just kind
- 1:59of rocking and rolling, you know. How are the
- 2:02fellas doing? Sean? Yeah, doing okay. I've been
- 2:09taking a bit of a sabbatical, I guess you could
- 2:14call it from betting. Baseball been kicking me
- 2:19in the ass. Not gonna lie to y 'all. Yeah, just
- 2:25We'll get back into it, but it has not been kind
- 2:31If you want to put it like that I guess But I'm
- 2:38just I'm just kind of ready to talk sports and
- 2:42what's going on around the the leagues With the
- 2:48boys, but will are you the same boat as me or
- 2:53are you in the same boat as Chris? More with
- 2:57you Sean. I've gotten two new jobs in the past
- 3:02couple of weeks so my mental bandwidth has been
- 3:07lacking on the sports side of it. I'll watch
- 3:14I've been watching some college not college hockey.
- 3:16I've been watching some NHL whenever I get the
- 3:19chance, but Things have been kind of crazy in
- 3:23my life, but that's okay crazy for the better
- 3:25and And yeah, so I mean let's just like hop right
- 3:31into it So the I mean, I guess the newest thing
- 3:35that sort of happened we can just we can discuss
- 3:37this at the end or Or or right now, but the the
- 3:43NHL draft lottery happened and Oh, we're talking
- 3:47about that right now. We're talking about there
- 3:48right now. Okay. Yeah, we're doing it so What
- 3:53what I was on the way home from work and I had
- 3:57to listen to it on the radio because well, I'm
- 4:02normally not the one paying attention to the
- 4:04NHL draft lottery, but Seeing as the Predators
- 4:08were absolute ass this year, I was like, huh,
- 4:12we have a pretty decent shot at the first overall
- 4:14pick. Predators third worst record in the league.
- 4:21And I think we had like an 11 and a half percent
- 4:23chance to get the first overall pick. We didn't.
- 4:29Not a backbreaker, though. Because this year's
- 4:32draft there's no real generational talent, so
- 4:35it's it's kind of okay like the the top four
- 4:39to five guys are all like Like nobody's mock
- 4:43draft is going to be correct like it might just
- 4:46be a Word this is a draft based on need Because
- 4:52like all the kind of guys are sort of like neck
- 4:54-and -neck at their perspective positions but
- 4:59so it's it's okay you know kind of bummed out
- 5:03we had the third worst record but ended up with
- 5:06the fifth pick I guess I mean I'll get into it
- 5:11so I was listening to her on the radio and what
- 5:16ended up happening was you know I I mean I was
- 5:19mentally just like all right if we stay at three
- 5:23then it's fine you know it's fine And even if
- 5:26we drop down to five, not great, but it's fine.
- 5:30So. What ended up happening was, I don't know,
- 5:35this is one of the biggest jumps in perhaps draft
- 5:40lottery history, not just NHL, but NBA as well,
- 5:43because they have a draft lottery. But the Islanders
- 5:47with the 10th worst record in the league jumped
- 5:50up to number one, which they could you can only.
- 5:54in the nhl draft you can only jump up nine spots
- 5:58um and then you can't jump up 10 so they went
- 6:04from 10 to 1 and they ended up winning the draft
- 6:06lottery and you know a lot of people don't like
- 6:10the draft lottery which is fine um i kind of
- 6:13like it because it's just another way to make
- 6:16each sport kind of different um and it's uh You
- 6:22know, the NHL draft is more of a crapshoot than
- 6:26most other drafts, I would say, just because,
- 6:29you know, most players take, you know, two, three,
- 6:34four, five, sometimes six years in order to fully
- 6:38develop. It just kind of depends. So it's okay,
- 6:42you know. That's my sort of mentality. Do I wish
- 6:47that didn't happen? Yes. And I was listening
- 6:51to all the rate when I was listening to it on
- 6:52the radio and they announced the islanders had
- 6:54the first pick so I was like, okay More than
- 6:57likely we're going we're we're not well, we're
- 7:00pretty much guaranteed not to get the third pick
- 7:04Just because of where we finished but then when
- 7:08they were pulling the numbers for the second
- 7:11pick overall The combination that came up was
- 7:16the Utah Hockey Club, but They had the 14th,
- 7:21uh worst record and they could only go up nine
- 7:24spots So they went up to nine not nine. They
- 7:28went up to uh, four four. Yeah, right. So That
- 7:34kind of pretty much It didn't really cement us
- 7:37in the five spot because they still did a a lottery
- 7:40for the the second and third but it essentially
- 7:44guaranteed us that we would not be where we Were
- 7:50slotted to be so that we that we would either
- 7:52stay the same or move down yes move down either
- 7:57or we're picking three or five and You know for
- 8:02a draft lottery, you know, it's still kind of
- 8:04still pretty good and you know, they were talking
- 8:07on the radio about you know you don't You like
- 8:11the draft lottery because it kind of forces teams
- 8:14not to tank because I mean shit like like yesterday
- 8:20happened like you have an Islanders team that
- 8:25you know they weren't almost they didn't almost
- 8:28make the playoffs but they didn't they weren't
- 8:30good but they they I mean they get they went
- 8:35against the odds and uh and got the first overall
- 8:38pick so uh hope to be them one day but but yeah
- 8:42Sean do you have anything to add well I was just
- 8:46uh gonna put this into perspective for more,
- 8:50like, NFL fans. Like, imagine if the Bears, who
- 8:57were slotted at 10 for this year's NFL draft,
- 9:02moved up to the first overall pick. That's essentially
- 9:06what happened with the New York Islanders. And
- 9:11then the Indianapolis Colts, who are the Utah
- 9:16Jazz moved up to fourth. Like both of those teams
- 9:21moved up nine slots. But they moved they really
- 9:28moved up like 10 positions, but they moved up
- 9:32nine slots. You know what I'm saying? Like, yes.
- 9:36So the San Jose Sharks are the Tennessee Titans.
- 9:41They finished last in the league and they moved
- 9:44down a spot. At the second overall pick and the
- 9:50God the I guess where the Giants of the league
- 9:56third overall like Like if if like the NHL was
- 10:01I think Giants Giants picked third, I think Giants
- 10:05pick third. Okay, so the Giants would have moved
- 10:08down to fifth for the Nashville Predators Just
- 10:14putting it in perspective Yeah for people but
- 10:18like I was hearing them when I was hearing them
- 10:20talk on the radio. It was like You know, I've
- 10:24never I've never really watched the the NHL draft
- 10:27lottery. I've never been Interested. Well, actually
- 10:31that kovat year when they did the bubble we were
- 10:36like we had like a 3 % chance to get the first
- 10:40overall pick because we were knocked out of the
- 10:43Play in tight, but also so did 16 other teams
- 10:49Or 10 other teams or something or like some double
- 10:54digit number like so they had to do a separate
- 10:58lottery For the first overall pick That bubble
- 11:04year. Yeah, because like, you know the the season
- 11:08was fucked up. Yeah and that draft was fucked
- 11:13up yeah and the the rangers who barely missed
- 11:19the playoff scott the first overall pick um and
- 11:22they got alexi lafreniere so but uh but yeah
- 11:28whatever that's um that's kind of the uh the
- 11:32the skinny i don't know do you have anything
- 11:34to say chris or or nah or i mean operators are
- 11:38cursed but i mean that's just a given because
- 11:41We root for him, so nothing good will ever happen
- 11:43to him. Probably the San Jose Sharks. I feel
- 11:48like they've just been at the bottom of like
- 11:50they've been getting a top three pick for the
- 11:54last five years. It feels like. Are they going
- 11:57to be a wagon? Soon. They should be a wagon soon.
- 12:03I mean, here's five years from now they'll be
- 12:06a wagon. See, yeah, that's what I because I feel
- 12:09like every time. Like, like I said, like the
- 12:12draft lottery rolls around, the sharks are always
- 12:14right there towards the top. And I'm like, I
- 12:17wish I could take a feature out on the sharks
- 12:19just to win a cup in the next five to six, seven
- 12:21years. Cause I don't know. I feel like that'd
- 12:25be, that'd be worth holding onto, holding onto
- 12:28a ticket for it. I don't know. I just, it feels
- 12:30like every year I hear, I may not every year,
- 12:33but for a while now I've heard about, Oh, they
- 12:35got this young kid who's like tearing it up either
- 12:38in college or some. junior hockey or junior level.
- 12:42And I'm like, shit, they're going to be pretty
- 12:44good soon, but I mean, they, they were still
- 12:48the third worst team in the league this year.
- 12:50So maybe not, but I don't know. I just feel like
- 12:53that's just what caught my eyes. The sharks again
- 12:56are getting a top three, five pick. Well, that's
- 13:00Smith. Yeah. What's he doing these days? Is he,
- 13:04is he good? He is good. Hopefully switch that
- 13:09pregame song. That's weak. I stand by that. That's
- 13:18some white boy. That is some white boy shit.
- 13:20It's not even a good white boy hype up song.
- 13:23It isn't. I stand by my original take. That's
- 13:26like the, that is, that is the ultimate white
- 13:30boy shit. Yeah. I weak ass song, but I mean,
- 13:37Yeah, that's just what caught my eye with other
- 13:39than that the Preds are cursed so Correct. I
- 13:44it's kind of like until this year Sit when Ottawa
- 13:49made the playoffs. I mean like they were they
- 13:51were picking top top five picks for a long time
- 13:57and they finally made the playoffs and Of course
- 14:03they lost but you know, this is the first time
- 14:04they made the playoffs and since 2017 so or 2018
- 14:09something like it somewhere I Think it was 17
- 14:13wasn't that was when we almost played them in
- 14:15the cup final. Yeah. Yeah and And so like they
- 14:22hadn't made the playoffs since then so it I Had
- 14:25been kind of saying that the the Senators would
- 14:28be good eventually, you know Exactly what you're
- 14:32saying like, you know, this team will be good
- 14:34in five years It took a little bit longer, but
- 14:38it seems that it finally happening. But I do
- 14:42think objectively that the sharks are in a better
- 14:46spot because we made that trade with them to
- 14:50get Askarov. So it's like now they have the goalie
- 14:52of the future. You know, it's they have something
- 14:54they have the most important position kind of
- 14:59locked down for the future. You know, I don't
- 15:01know if he's allegedly. It may not work out.
- 15:05you know um so be it he he didn't want to be
- 15:09a uh backup in the nhl or he didn't want to be
- 15:14sitting down and then we traded him and then
- 15:18immediately got sent down so yeah i think he
- 15:22was a he ended up becoming just a backup this
- 15:24year he signed a two million dollar deal and
- 15:27then got sent down like early in the season and
- 15:31then didn't really hear from him Throughout the
- 15:35whole season Yeah, I think he ended up becoming
- 15:40the backup, okay, I think I'm not totally sure
- 15:45but But yeah, you know the it seems like they're
- 15:49kind of in a in a better spot and I mean the
- 15:53like Ottawa never Had the first overall pick,
- 15:57you know, they they never got a player like Macklin
- 16:00celebrini They got some decent players, but not
- 16:05a Hobie Baker winner. But yeah, I mean, that's
- 16:13kind of it. But I am also glad that Chicago dropped
- 16:18a spot, at least, because fuck them. That's why.
- 16:26Yeah, that's all you need. Yeah, that's worth
- 16:30more than than us picking above, I mean, five,
- 16:35I guess, whatever. But yeah, I mean, that's that's
- 16:41kind of the the newest thing on the radar. But
- 16:46when I was listening to it on the radio, like
- 16:48it just seemed like the the whole process of
- 16:52them. Take picking the the lottery ball numbers,
- 16:57I'm like, this sounds really confusing because
- 17:00like they they do four drawings uh for the first
- 17:05pick and then like depending on what combination
- 17:12of numbers they are that that that uh that team
- 17:17gets it but like if it was a team higher than
- 17:19the islanders then they would have moved up nine
- 17:22spots or yeah so Okay, see, that's also what
- 17:28I was wondering was like, how does the lottery
- 17:30work? Because I could be very wrong on this.
- 17:33But I believe in the NBA, it's like, the lower
- 17:36you finish, it's like you get a certain amount
- 17:38of balls in the raffle machine, which the fact
- 17:43that they decide, like, the future of a franchise
- 17:47on that, it's insane. But I love it so much.
- 17:50It's awesome. Oh, yeah, it's incredible. It's
- 17:53awesome. It's like you're a common man waiting
- 17:57for your lottery numbers to be selected by this
- 18:02random machine built of ping pong balls and air.
- 18:10That's all it is. But you're like, I could get
- 18:13the first overall pick. This could change our
- 18:15franchise. Let's go. It's such a gambling aspect.
- 18:21I do love it. So oh, yeah, no or it I just didn't
- 18:26know like does the NHL have the same system where
- 18:29it's like whoever finished last gets Yeah, let's
- 18:33say 10. Okay, okay I didn't know they did this
- 18:35whole combination thing and maybe the NBA does
- 18:37too I've only watched the draft lottery in the
- 18:39NBA like once or twice ever so yeah I still remember
- 18:43the New York Islanders logo coming up on this
- 18:46ping -pong ball during like they're during the
- 18:49bubble year The draft like where that was the
- 18:53Rangers? What'd I say? I'm sorry. I've got this
- 18:58year's pick on my brain The Rangers ball coming
- 19:01up on the first overall during the bubble Yeah,
- 19:05you know that was like that But now it's like
- 19:11like like the Sharks percentage to win the first
- 19:14overall pick was higher than everyone else's
- 19:16but it was 18 and a half percent so and then
- 19:21like Chicago's was like 15 and Nashville's was
- 19:2811 and a half so like I'm not quite sure how
- 19:33they factor in the half percents But but yeah,
- 19:42so Going into it I think we had a 30 30 % chance
- 19:52from to move up Two spots, but we had a 70 %
- 19:58chance to move down Up to two spots. Damn. I
- 20:02don't like those numbers. Yeah so But yeah that
- 20:10was and it's like such a weird spot but again,
- 20:14I mean this year's draft lottery is this year's
- 20:17draft class is a It's it's like the top five
- 20:22ish players are all kind of interchangeable At
- 20:26least that's what it seems like right now and
- 20:30you know it there's like a great defenseman Matthew
- 20:33Schaeffer who is A great fucking player. I saw
- 20:40some highlights of him, and I'm like this guy's
- 20:42great and then Next guy's Michael Mesa. I think
- 20:46he's a Think he's a winger. He might be a center.
- 20:51He's a forward But he's I'm like this guy's pretty
- 20:54good as well. You know there but like you can't
- 20:58there's not really a I don't know kind of a a
- 21:03differentiating sort of generational talent type
- 21:06Factor when you just like look at him although.
- 21:09I'm not an NHL scout whatever so but next year's
- 21:14draft Gavin McKenna will be the first overall
- 21:17pick and he is a generational player. So Bred's
- 21:20might be bad again You know what that's that
- 21:25that's okay, you know if we if we can get Gavin
- 21:28McKenna everything changes Everything changes.
- 21:33Yeah, that'd be sick All right, so Moving on
- 21:39what else? But like we could talk about hockey
- 21:43we could talk about NBA Okay, what do you want
- 21:48Chris? This kind of covers both. It's been choke
- 21:53city in both playoffs the last few days. We've
- 21:57seen a few monumental collapses. And I love it.
- 22:03That abs collapse was beautiful. Yeah, that was
- 22:08fantastic. I was like, whoa, not good for my
- 22:12pick. Not good for, yeah. But whatever. I mean,
- 22:18yeah, we had that the Celtics blew a 20 point
- 22:21lead in the third quarter on Monday to the Knicks
- 22:24lost in overtime. Was that a game seven? No,
- 22:28it's game one. But I mean, just in terms of yet,
- 22:31not all of them are like the series is over.
- 22:34But I mean, one that was I mean, the Blues just.
- 22:38That was up by two minutes left. Yeah, that was
- 22:43awesome. That was I mean Winnipeg such a tough
- 22:48place to play in the playoffs like it's awful
- 22:51and I didn't I didn't watch the the overtime
- 22:56goal I went to bed, but I saw it afterwards and
- 23:00I'm like damn That's that's fucking crazy But
- 23:06I did see them tie it up Well, I get two goals
- 23:09in the last three minutes and I'm like this is
- 23:12this is peak. I would say that's, that's peak
- 23:17playoff hockey. And I saw a video of some blues
- 23:20fan. It was like, by his TV being like, something
- 23:24good is finally gonna happen to me. I'm so excited.
- 23:28And then he was counting down, he was like, six,
- 23:31five, and I was like, oh, there you score two
- 23:32seconds left. So I was waiting for it. And then
- 23:35he was like, he had like a meltdown. And then
- 23:37the person was recording was furious to and that
- 23:40just cut off. I was like, damn. I want to know
- 23:42what happened in that household. Did they get
- 23:45in a fight? So I saw a stat from the NHL that
- 23:53said that there have only been two third period
- 23:59multi -combat games in game sevens, and they
- 24:03both happened within 24 hours. Wow. That's pretty
- 24:09fucking insane. Like go we are We are kind of
- 24:16in the prime of NHL Like to be out we are in
- 24:20the golden age of the NHL right now Yeah, and
- 24:24feels like people have to realize that like hockey
- 24:27is going to be a I mean it grows every year but
- 24:34People have to actually realize that This is
- 24:40a very hot take. The NHL playoffs. Are better
- 24:45than the NBA playoffs and they play at the exact
- 24:48same time. I don't think that's a hot take at
- 24:50all. I don't. I think it is. I think I think
- 24:53to the populace it is. Between us it's not, but
- 24:58to the populace I think it is a very hot take.
- 25:02I think to real ball knowers and puck is ball
- 25:04real ball knowers know the NHL playoffs are vastly
- 25:08superior. Because the NBA playoffs I mean just
- 25:10look at the last This entire first round other
- 25:14than the Clippers other than the Clippers nuggets
- 25:16But then but then you but then you have a day
- 25:20where all the underdogs of like like weren't
- 25:24weren't all the underdogs last night like plus
- 25:26300 or something to win and they all won like
- 25:29it's like some shit like that it's like And it's
- 25:34like okay. Well You bought yourself another week,
- 25:38I guess, like, yeah, I would say maybe game by
- 25:42game. Even that, I don't know if it's drugs,
- 25:44the game by game. Maybe the NBA might, might
- 25:46have like a slight edge, but even there, I don't
- 25:48know if that's true. But as like just round by
- 25:53round, I mean, you see far more upsets and hockey
- 25:56and just more entertaining series overall. I,
- 26:00I mean, I've had this argument since like high
- 26:03school. And I remember having this argument with
- 26:06this, this girl in high school that was a huge
- 26:08NBA fan. And I was just like to NHL playoffs,
- 26:12superior to the NBA. And she was like, no way.
- 26:16And I was like, you're out of your fucking mind,
- 26:20but, um, whatever. Just a dumb boy who's never
- 26:23watched hockey before. She knew, she knew, she
- 26:28knew, uh, basketball for sure. I will say that
- 26:32she did. Uh, but I can't speak on the NHL. So,
- 26:39but I, that is a personal opinion. Uh, I won't
- 26:45solidify that as fact, but I do, I do think that
- 26:50is a hot take for the populace of America. I
- 26:55think it's fact. It's vastly mourned. People
- 27:00who watch both. or have experience watching both
- 27:04know that they they all know that the NHL playoffs
- 27:08is better because i mean like yeah you know the
- 27:11points if you if you if you grabbed a boston
- 27:14fan right now well obviously i get oh the brooms
- 27:18aren't in the playoffs but if you grabbed a boston
- 27:21fan and you said what is better NBA playoffs
- 27:26or NHL playoffs Bruins, Celtics, which one are
- 27:30you going to? I got tickets to both. Which one
- 27:33are they going to? I mean, it's Celtics, 100
- 27:37times out of 100. Yeah. I mean, like, if you
- 27:44have a city that has both like that and has such
- 27:47a rich history, like with both franchises, the
- 27:52Bruins are an original six team. Celtics have
- 27:56a Obviously, rich fucking history. I mean, don't
- 27:59they have the all time? That's title championships.
- 28:04Yeah. They're taking the Celtics every fucking
- 28:07time. So I for that reason, I think it is a hot
- 28:13take. But what happened, Chris? Hurricanes just
- 28:19scored to. Okay. Another, um, choke job that
- 28:29it happened last week. We didn't talk about it,
- 28:33um, on last week's pod because we were on a time
- 28:36crunch. Uh, the Pacers, um, bounce the bucks
- 28:41from the playoffs and just miraculous fashion.
- 28:44Uh, the bucks were up by seven with 40 seconds
- 28:47to go and overtime in game six and the Pacers
- 28:51won. Incredible. My dad sent me a text after
- 28:55the game. He said, before tonight, teams trailing
- 28:59by seven or more in the final 40 seconds over
- 29:01the last 20 years were 0 and 1176 in the playoffs.
- 29:09Yeah. Well, we'll see people, NBA, NBA fans will
- 29:13throw that stat at you and be like, you know
- 29:16what I mean? Like, but you're right. I am right.
- 29:23It was like this is why the NBA is better, but
- 29:26whatever I think we do need to go over LeBron's
- 29:32legacy Okay, and It's a it's a Lakers legacy
- 29:39because You know what it hasn't been good I Mean,
- 29:45oh, it's been it's been pretty fucking awful.
- 29:48It's been bad so In 2019, when he arrived, missed
- 29:55the playoffs. 2020, Asterix Championship. Bubble.
- 30:01Mickey Mouse. Yeah. 2021, eliminated in first
- 30:06round. 2022, missed playoffs. 2023, swept in
- 30:10Western Conference Finals. 2024, eliminated in
- 30:14first round. 2025, eliminated in first round.
- 30:21That's not good. One would argue it's bad. I'll
- 30:26just say it. It's, it's, it's not good. Nope.
- 30:30And I mean, Hey, you can't get mad at him this
- 30:34year. I mean, he had a sprained MCL in the final
- 30:38eight minutes of the game. Um, yeah, we didn't
- 30:41miss the Met Gala dude because he had to miss
- 30:44the Met Gala, didn't miss the final eight minutes
- 30:46of that game, but he missed the Met Gala. Did
- 30:50he really have a sprained MCO? I don't believe
- 30:53it. I think it's, I think it's a work. I think
- 30:57it's just another one of his things to be like,
- 30:59well, hey guys, I was hurt. So, I mean, can't
- 31:04really blame us for losing. I mean, they have,
- 31:07he's like, he can't take all the blame now. No,
- 31:10but I mean, that was just, that was prime LeBron
- 31:12or excuse LeBron. Like just when you think he
- 31:16doesn't have anymore, he puts one. hundred miles
- 31:19an hour right on the black like he he's still
- 31:21got it lebron what's your favorite quote in that
- 31:26malcolm x book uh you know i just i didn't make
- 31:30it that's the first page no i i his real quote
- 31:34was like no i just uh i like all of it bro has
- 31:43been stuck on the first page forever If we want
- 31:47to talk about LeBron legacy, I mean, that might
- 31:50be his real legacy. I think he's still in his
- 31:52prime when it comes to that. About lying about
- 31:56shit. About just making shit up so he doesn't
- 31:59look as bad. He's an alcoholic. That's true.
- 32:09Allegedly. Well, he was drinking going into like...
- 32:13He was carrying an open container going into
- 32:15work. Multiple times. When was this? I forget
- 32:21what year, but yeah, he would come when he was
- 32:23hurt. He would like come to games with like just
- 32:26a glass of wine. Well, he was hurt. Come on,
- 32:29you tell me you wouldn't do the same thing. Yeah,
- 32:31and then I would get fired if I had walked into
- 32:34my place of business with a glass of wine. I
- 32:40don't okay like a glass like an actual glass.
- 32:43Yeah Yeah, do you not remember that? I don't
- 32:47remember. I never heard of that not like a not
- 32:51like in like a like a Stanley or Like a coffee
- 32:55cup or yeah, like that's that's odd to not hide
- 32:58it like a water bottle if you're If you're a
- 33:02true alcoholic you would hide That stuff I think
- 33:09Like especially if you're as famous as LeBron
- 33:12James like you're the all -time leader and points
- 33:15like you would kind of hide those things in a
- 33:20a thermos of some kind I think Sending a picture
- 33:25to the group chat. Am I wrong? I'm sure they
- 33:33make they still make sure I haven't seen a thermos
- 33:37since since 2003. Who is this guy? Well, Chris,
- 33:46this could be anything. It could be anything.
- 33:52He was hurt. You're saying he's hurt the caption.
- 33:55Hold on the caption of this. The Braun James
- 33:57brings glass of wine to Lakers Clippers game.
- 34:00OK, well, that was when he was hurt, but still.
- 34:06Like it's still your job man. So like this this
- 34:10photo is him walking out of his car or out of
- 34:14his ride into the facility Into the locker room
- 34:19like he is he is showing up to the game. I Send
- 34:23another one of him on he's got a bottle with
- 34:26a he's got a lot of his seat. Yeah That's not
- 34:31a good look That's kind of a low key alcoholic
- 34:37move. That is a low key. To drink at work? Yeah,
- 34:42that's pretty high key. That's one of the top
- 34:45few signs of like, hey, is your alcohol dependency
- 34:49affecting your job? I think I would respect him
- 34:54more if he had it in like a thermos or a... I
- 35:00mean, that was more of just probably like a fuck
- 35:01you move, honestly. Like, hey, what are you gonna
- 35:03do? I'm Lebron James. I drink at work. Honestly,
- 35:13goals. I mean, yeah, I mean, like, are we really
- 35:18are we really about to ostracize this guy for
- 35:21like having the ability to drink at work? Like,
- 35:24are we about to do that? Because I'm going to
- 35:26be really upset if we're about to do that. I'm
- 35:28not going to sit here and pretend that I wouldn't
- 35:30trade places with the bra. Lebron in a fucking
- 35:32second. If I wasn't given the opportunity, what
- 35:35I'm saying, like we can't really, we can't really
- 35:39knock this guy for doing this because he is hurt.
- 35:43He's trying to have a good time. He is just enjoying
- 35:48a glass of carb or a cab. Excuse me. Uh, and
- 35:53he's just trying to watch his bro's ball out.
- 35:56Like, I mean, I'm not a Lebron Dick rider, but
- 35:59I will. I will defend him on this. I will actually
- 36:05like kind of go to kind of go to war for this.
- 36:08Like still this is not. It's not a big deal.
- 36:13Still work for him, like even if he's not playing,
- 36:16what do you do? You still have a role on the
- 36:19team like you still have to like, I don't know,
- 36:22like when that's that's like a whole thing like
- 36:24when he's sitting on the sideline in street clothes,
- 36:26that's like a whole thing when like a team leader
- 36:28is hurt. they're still supposed to be like a,
- 36:31like a focal point of the team. You're still
- 36:33supposed to be like part of like the huddle and
- 36:35shit and like help guys out. I remember. Okay.
- 36:40Hold on. No, no, no. Hold on. I gotta, I gotta
- 36:43do this quick first. We're about to run out of
- 36:45time on our thing. You're telling me that one
- 36:49of your friends have never come up to you plaster
- 36:52and just given you the best advice you've ever
- 36:55been given. About what you're doing or like how
- 37:00the fuck you should be doing it You're telling
- 37:03me that they alcohol up LeBron wouldn't be like
- 37:07Yo, you got to get that shit to the fucking net
- 37:10bro. Like you you know what I mean? Like You
- 37:13know a little tipsy LeBron like just fucking
- 37:16I Mean, I'm not sitting like I'm not saying he
- 37:21didn't do a good job of that, but I'm saying
- 37:23it's also like It's your job. Look, it's not
- 37:28a good. It's not a good. It's not a good example
- 37:31of yourself. He's also a role model. He is a
- 37:34role model. Yes, I will give you that. But also.
- 37:41You don't think he gave those guys like some
- 37:43drive like you've never given. You've never heard
- 37:46like a drunken pep talk from anybody. I have
- 37:50to go back and look at the box score of that
- 37:51game to see, OK? We do need to look into that.
- 37:56If he was in the huddle, like really hyped the
- 37:58boys up. I mean, that was years ago. I don't
- 38:00remember for sure. But if he was more power to
- 38:03him, I'll take back what I said. But if not.
- 38:06That's what I'm saying. That's all I'm saying.
- 38:09I'm just saying like Lebron, like, you know,
- 38:13a little liquored up. Could be like the ultimate
- 38:17hype man. Like, I mean, he probably is. Don't
- 38:21get me wrong. Like, I think like, yeah. Lickered
- 38:25up LeBron would probably be in a social setting
- 38:28an excellent hype man sure Yeah, maybe a game
- 38:34of pickup basketball Is that be funk that be
- 38:39fun? That would be fun All right moving on from
- 38:43LeBron James and his legacy I mean, did you did
- 38:49you want to yell more about that Sean? No, I
- 38:52mean, I think we I think we covered everything
- 38:55I guess but It sounded like you wanted to yell
- 39:00a little bit more. No, it's just Lebron on the
- 39:03Lakers has sucked He hasn't he hasn't produced
- 39:09at all like yeah, you have an asterix championship,
- 39:13sorry Lakers fans, but You do have an asterix
- 39:18championship There's a Good chance. The Lakers
- 39:24era. LeBron is done. Cause he's got a player.
- 39:28He's got a player option for this year. But I
- 39:30mean, who knows if he's gonna take that. I mean,
- 39:34Luca. Oh, I'm not saying the team isn't good
- 39:38enough, but like, he just kind of does whatever
- 39:41he wants. So like if he wants to end his career
- 39:44back in Cleveland, like who's going to stop him.
- 39:47He, if he like the tweet that uh shams or shams
- 39:51excuse me had um was that he wants to play for
- 39:54at least another year because he has another
- 39:56kid coming up stop me if you've heard this before
- 39:59and another one 26 draft i believe who's actually
- 40:03i believe supposed to be like qualified to play
- 40:06professional basketball so he might want to go
- 40:10where like i don't know what he's gonna i mean
- 40:12nobody knows what he's gonna do but he could
- 40:15fuck off and go somewhere else like after this
- 40:19season. And I think that's a decent chance. Just
- 40:22given his track record of like, I don't really
- 40:23want to be here anymore. I'm like, that's, that's
- 40:27Bryce. Yeah. Bryce James, I believe. Yeah. And
- 40:32he's supposed to be like really good. And I'm
- 40:34not like shitting on Brawny. I know he's had
- 40:35like health issues and whatever, but he had a
- 40:39heart attack on the court, Chris, but I was saying
- 40:42like, it's long been like, I don't want to say
- 40:44long, but it's been established as Bryce is like
- 40:46the better basketball player. Yeah. But maybe
- 40:51he wants to play with his other kid. You got
- 40:53to get in with the first born, though. I mean,
- 40:58but see, what does this do for Brawny if LeBron
- 41:01leaves L .A.? Who cares? Well, I mean, I don't
- 41:05care. I don't give a shit. But that would be
- 41:08like it would be hilarious if like Brian's like,
- 41:11I'm going to go back to Cleveland and Brian either.
- 41:14A gets traded to Cleveland or B is just like,
- 41:17just immediately cut. That would be low -key
- 41:23hilarious. Like if it's like Chomps tweets, LeBron
- 41:28signing whatever deal with the Cavaliers. The
- 41:31next tweet, the Lakers are parting ways with
- 41:34Brian James. Not trading, just cut. You're gone,
- 41:40bro. See ya. No. That. I mean, I just think the
- 41:46LeBron's LeBron's stint in L .A. is not what
- 41:52they wanted it to be. You know, I and. Didn't
- 41:58he win that championship like after Kobe died,
- 42:01too? Like it was almost like it was almost fixed.
- 42:06It was almost fixed to be like the Lakers should
- 42:10win. I don't. Tin foil hat obviously. I mean
- 42:14he died in 20 20 19. Was it 19 or no? No, it
- 42:19was it was 20. It was February. It was early
- 42:2220. Yes February. Yeah. So yeah, that was the
- 42:26first championship because that was like September
- 42:28or whatever of 20 when they won Or when they
- 42:31did the bubble. So yeah Yeah No, it was that
- 42:36year. No, that's what I'm saying. I mean if he
- 42:39died in February of 20 That was the next champ
- 42:42that was the next NBA finals was yeah, but it
- 42:46was But that was when the pandemic was happening
- 42:50so like that was like Wasn't that like almost
- 42:54like the all -star break? I Mean of when the
- 42:59pandemic like happened and they were like they
- 43:01had to like all these the NHL and the MLB in
- 43:05the NBA like had to shift into this like bubble
- 43:10territory. That's why like all the, weren't there
- 43:14like 20 NHL teams that like got into the bubble?
- 43:18Yeah. Yeah. And they re I think there were also
- 43:21like 20 NBA teams and then the Lakers ended up,
- 43:25you know, winning the whole thing. Yeah. I don't
- 43:29remember. I'm just going to be, I know it was
- 43:32so long ago. The Lakers won the next title, but
- 43:38I don't remember exactly how the bubble format
- 43:41began, like what the initial field was. If it
- 43:47was like the NHL where it was like, it was like
- 43:50a play in to the playoffs. If it was just like,
- 43:53no, no, fuck it. This is the playoffs. Yeah.
- 43:56Yeah. I mean, Kobe died and then the Lakers won
- 43:58the championship. Yes. That's how it happened.
- 44:02Yes. That is how it happened. So Sean's saying
- 44:06it was rigged. A little bit. Just a little tinfoil
- 44:10hat. I mean, the NBA's never been rigged for
- 44:13the Lakers, ever. No, but like, also... Not once.
- 44:18What else have they done since then? They've
- 44:21been dogshit! That's what I'm saying. Like, in...
- 44:27I don't know. And they've got the best... player
- 44:31in the league apparently or the best of all time
- 44:34and it nothing to show for it like that's why
- 44:42i put an asterisk on like you should always put
- 44:45didn't the dallas stars win that the bubble that
- 44:49year that was the lightning there's a lightning
- 44:51that was the lightning that was their first of
- 44:53their three p wasn't it or the second i i think
- 44:58it was there I thought it was their second, because
- 45:04I thought they won one before that one. It might
- 45:06be their second. And then the other, like, you
- 45:10could technically put an asterisk on that one
- 45:12because the conferences were all fucked up. They
- 45:17won one legit. Yes, they did. But that's another
- 45:21thing. They won two legit. Right? I thought,
- 45:26well, I guess we could just look at that. Yeah,
- 45:28we just looked this up. Think they I think the
- 45:31other one the year that the conferences were
- 45:33all fucked up Which that I mean it was them in
- 45:39the stars, right? In the bubble. Yes, and then
- 45:42they won Or was it the stars I thought it was
- 45:48the stars in the Canadians in the final the Canadian
- 45:50the Canadians were involved in some way because
- 45:53it was like How the hell is this here? Yeah that
- 45:59was the year where the conferences were fucked
- 46:02up because the Canadians, the Canadians conference,
- 46:07it was all the Canadian teams. Okay. That's who
- 46:10they played in the playoffs. Okay. Okay. Okay.
- 46:12They beat all the Canadian teams to, you know,
- 46:17make it to the final and Tampa beat every, everyone
- 46:21they had to beat. And it was, I remember it.
- 46:25So Tampa only won two. Yeah. Okay. They won 1920
- 46:30and 2021, and they went to the final in 21 -22.
- 46:36Yeah, they went to three straight finals. And
- 46:38two of them appeared to have. So 2019 -20, that's
- 46:45bubble, correct? Yes. They lost to the Stars
- 46:49then? No, they won that one. The stars didn't
- 46:52win a Stanley Cup. I remember the stars in the
- 46:57Stanley Cup final for some fucking reason because
- 46:59they were in the Stanley Cup final. Okay. They
- 47:02didn't win. They didn't win. Okay. Good. Okay.
- 47:07So it goes, according to Wikipedia, the lightning
- 47:11cups is 2019 20 and that's cope. That's bubble.
- 47:14I believe. Correct. That was the bubble. Yes.
- 47:16And then they won it again in 2021, which is
- 47:19when the conferences were jumbled, which they
- 47:23did. But they ended up playing everyone. Yeah,
- 47:27but oh, I'm not saying it. Yeah, like they played
- 47:30everyone had to play in like a normal format,
- 47:32but also like if the conferences were normal,
- 47:35who knows? Would you say that one is more legit?
- 47:40I'd say that one's more legit. It's not 100 %
- 47:43legit, but it's definitely I would say it's half
- 47:46to possibly a quarter asterisk if you're going
- 47:48to put an asterisk at all. Half asterisks. Half
- 47:52asterisks. Or a quarter asterisks. See, this
- 47:54is what we're doing. This is what no football
- 47:56does. We're just using the legitimacy of the
- 48:01Lightning's Stanley Cups. Yeah. Are we done with
- 48:09LeBron's legacy? Or not? Yeah, I guess. Or did
- 48:13you have anything to add, Chris? No, I'm done
- 48:17with it. I have no further comment for LeBron
- 48:20James. Okay. It seems like Sean's a little sad,
- 48:24but I think it's time to move on. I do have something
- 48:27I want to move on to, though. Oh, what is it?
- 48:30Okay, what is it? You go first, Sean. I was just
- 48:35wondering if y 'all heard about the enhanced
- 48:38games that's supposedly supposed to start this
- 48:43year. Oh, the steroid Olympics? Yeah. I thought
- 48:46that was a bit. No. I did too if I'm being honest.
- 48:53Some comedian did that bit. It's founded by some
- 48:59Australian businessman that just wants to use
- 49:04athletes that use performance enhancing substances
- 49:09throughout the entire multi -sport event. So
- 49:18so I I I want to say right now that is a hilarious
- 49:27idea that I am here for that being said Something
- 49:34bad is going to happen Someone will get a heart
- 49:38attack either during before or like right after
- 49:43their event Maybe even just leading up to the
- 49:49day of the event. Someone's just gonna have a
- 49:51heart attack. That's what's gonna happen, more
- 49:53likely. And then it'll be canned. But yeah, right
- 50:00now, not an issue. I have some questions. Is
- 50:04this televised? It is yet to be determined. I
- 50:10don't see any type of sponsorship. from ABC,
- 50:15NBC, CBS box. Don't see any of that. I don't
- 50:19know if any of those are going, are going to
- 50:21get them. I was thinking maybe, man, I wish spike
- 50:24TV was like TV. I was just about to say like
- 50:26spike TV. Um, I mean, yeah, if it's somewhere
- 50:31where my, my device won't get a deadly virus
- 50:35from watching it, I'll check it out. Can we,
- 50:38if can we bet on it is the, what's my second
- 50:42question? Well, probably not. Well, it hasn't
- 50:47been like determined yet if this is taking place
- 50:51because it says it is it is meant to take place
- 50:56in 2025 or 2026. So either this year or next
- 51:02year. But do you guys support this type of athleticism?
- 51:12Because I do yes. Yes. No. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. Yes
- 51:16and no I think I think me and will be awesome
- 51:19boat where yes, it would be incredibly entertaining
- 51:22and it's hilarious just at its core and It's
- 51:26it's interesting to see What? Like, you know
- 51:30with with all the enhancements what the human
- 51:34body is capable of Like that part is you know,
- 51:39that's that part's low -key fascinating to me.
- 51:43Yeah, like take away like the the the ridiculousness
- 51:47of it all. That is legitimate. I kind of want
- 51:50to see how exactly Yeah, what world what I mean,
- 51:54obviously, these won't be legitimate records,
- 51:56if someone does anything, but like, how much
- 51:59they would just shatter a world record on steroids.
- 52:03I Yeah, sorry. No, I was good. That being said,
- 52:06someone will probably die. Yeah, someone's gonna
- 52:10die. Like someone's nuts. Relax, guys. It's not
- 52:16like they're fucking shooting up like. I don't
- 52:20know, like I don't think it's the best. I don't
- 52:23know how it works either, but I don't think any
- 52:25when I read this, I'm like someone's going to
- 52:28die. That's not my first instinct. I'm like,
- 52:31oh, it's just some fucking super soldiers just
- 52:34going out there, just fucking. Chuckling chucking
- 52:38javelins like that sounds awesome like it it
- 52:42does sound awesome until like some Like Eastern
- 52:46European guy is like oh shit like I need I have
- 52:50to win this thing I'm gonna shoot up like right
- 52:53before we go out there and he has a heart attack
- 52:55when he's doing like a 10 ,000 pound deadlift
- 52:59Yeah, like like I think what I heard some bodybuilder
- 53:07say this one time, but he was like dude like
- 53:12bodybuilders who are like three 300 pounds like
- 53:17just massive dudes like You are still 300 pounds
- 53:23Your your risk for a heart attack is still highly
- 53:29highly increased like fat or muscle Doesn't matter
- 53:34you you are at such a higher risk than everyone
- 53:37else at a normal weight. So I mean that in itself,
- 53:43gonna have a heart attack. Yeah, but yeah, the
- 53:46dying part. That's not my, my third first thought.
- 53:49That's like my maybe third or fourth thought.
- 53:54First thought being like, well, that's crazy.
- 53:56It's interesting, because you said someone's
- 53:58gonna die as like your first thought. Yeah, because
- 54:04I've thought that was literally the first thing
- 54:06out of your mouth was like someone's gonna die.
- 54:10I've thought about this before because I well,
- 54:12I mean, I thought it was just like some comedians
- 54:15bit about about this whole thing. But now that
- 54:18it's legit, you know, I've already sort of processed.
- 54:22It's not legit. Like, it's it's in talk. I want
- 54:27it to be legit, because that'd be fucking awesome.
- 54:30It'd be crazy. It'd be very entertaining. I would
- 54:32watch because well like you have to think also
- 54:35that these These people are athletes Like after
- 54:40core like they do not want to die They don't
- 54:47want to die like they don't want to die doing
- 54:51what they love They probably die trying if they
- 54:57I mean, maybe, but that's not their goal. They're
- 55:04not going to shoot up more than they have to.
- 55:10They're going to have medical doctors and physicians
- 55:15around them taking care. Hopefully. Hopefully.
- 55:20If you're a serious athlete, you would have those
- 55:24type of people around you. To get the proper
- 55:29doses that you need to perform at your maximum
- 55:32strength on these perform enhancing drugs I Would
- 55:36know that's that's my thought I mean no doctor
- 55:38would recommend performance enhancing drugs But
- 55:43if you were to do it though, but if you were
- 55:46to do it you would have And it's just like okay
- 55:51you can take this much like yeah from an alley,
- 55:55okay Jesus fucking Christ. I would say that,
- 56:00um, if you're a legit, I think y 'all are bromance
- 56:02out of proportion. All right. I'm, I'm not saying
- 56:05like it's okay. I was more just being tugging
- 56:09cheek. If someone, God forbid, if someone were
- 56:13to keel over, I'm not saying it's going to happen
- 56:15during an event before or after. If this event
- 56:20does take place, I would not be shocked whatsoever.
- 56:23is mainly what I'm saying. I don't, I'm not rooting
- 56:27for it by any stretch. I'm not even saying I
- 56:30think it will happen. I'm just saying if it does,
- 56:33I'm not going to be like, Oh my God, how could
- 56:35this happen? Someone who's probably been doing
- 56:37steroids for a while. If we're being honest,
- 56:39if you're in this, like, let's be honest, this
- 56:42is the steroid Olympics. If you're in this, you've
- 56:47been doing, you've been juicing for a while.
- 56:49Yeah, sure. So I'm just saying this could be
- 56:54the thing that maybe pushes your body over the
- 56:57edge. Exactly. That's, that's my mentality as
- 57:02well. I think it could, but I think it'd be extremely
- 57:05unlikely. Yeah. Like again, I don't, I'm not
- 57:08saying like it will happen and it probably wouldn't
- 57:11even happen, but if it were to happen, I would
- 57:14just, I think, yeah. I think it'd be, I think
- 57:17it'd be more up to the lead up. like, you know,
- 57:20like the in the training process, like, oh, this,
- 57:24this person, this person died leading up into
- 57:28the enhanced Olympics, you know, like, I think
- 57:31it'd be more like, like some guy who's lifting
- 57:34could that have been some guy who's dead, some
- 57:37guy who's dead lifting 900 pounds is just like
- 57:40gonna keel over like on live TV. That's not gonna
- 57:44happen. That dude is gonna die in like, His private
- 57:50like quarters like training like you know what
- 57:53I mean like later. Yes He will have a heart attack
- 57:56before or after but he will not have a heart
- 58:00attack in the middle of the games so so I'm for
- 58:07it like if you decide to do like it's your body
- 58:11your choice if you want to if you want to put
- 58:13in enhancing drugs into you that is your choice
- 58:19That's awesome if you want to be super strong
- 58:22if you want to gouge a man's eye out in the middle
- 58:25like just If you want to have that strength to
- 58:28rip a man's skull apart more power to you. You
- 58:33know what I mean? Like I Know exactly what you
- 58:36mean. Yeah, but I don't think that they will
- 58:40have They will not have a death televised during
- 58:45the enhanced Olympics I hope not. Is what I'm
- 58:48saying. I think it will either happen before
- 58:52or after. Because you're always wanting to get
- 58:57stronger and leading up to it, you might want
- 59:01to take a little bit more, like leading up to
- 59:04it. Exactly. But it won't be shown. So these
- 59:10enhanced athletes will keel over in their basement
- 59:16or whatever. I don't know if they'll, when I
- 59:20think about it, I don't know if they'll put that
- 59:22on TV, because I don't think they want - They
- 59:25shouldn't. They 100 % will not put any - if this
- 59:28even happens, this will be on some sort of sketchy
- 59:32stream. This is not going to be on television.
- 59:34They shouldn't. Because they - Let's be honest,
- 59:40this probably isn't going to happen. This probably
- 59:42isn't going to happen. I want it to. Don't get
- 59:44me wrong. It won't. Well, I want it. I want this
- 59:48to happen so fucking bad because I want this.
- 59:51I want to see what the human body is capable
- 59:53of. Yes, I want. I want people to be limitless.
- 1:00:00I want to create fucking super soldiers in this
- 1:00:03in this in the time that I'm living in. Like,
- 1:00:07I don't know if I want. I want a man to lift
- 1:00:09a car. Like, why is that so hard? I don't know
- 1:00:13if I want super soldiers to be bred from this
- 1:00:15because. Let's be honest the Eastern Europeans
- 1:00:18are going to take this way more seriously and
- 1:00:20I don't want them because they're the bad guys
- 1:00:24They're technically our allies so we can relax
- 1:00:30so They're technically our allies. Yes All right.
- 1:00:36Well, we can move on from this Chris, what did
- 1:00:40you what did you want to discuss? Okay. Well
- 1:00:42before we get into what I wanted to discuss We
- 1:00:44got another Choke City Pacers completed a 20
- 1:00:48-point cutback to take game two over the Cleveland
- 1:00:50Cavaliers. Pacers up two -nothing. Team of Destiny.
- 1:00:54They're winning the whole goddamn thing. Not
- 1:00:56a big deal. But yeah, my dad texted me while
- 1:01:01we were recording, so I just wanted to get that
- 1:01:03in there. I got the group checks from our friend
- 1:01:07who had Pacers' Moneyline, apparently. or spread
- 1:01:11or something. I think you had both. You had both?
- 1:01:15Okay. Well, if you're going to take one, take
- 1:01:17the other. Damn. Wish I would have taken that
- 1:01:19out. All right. What I was going to talk about
- 1:01:23this whole players wearing retired numbers thing
- 1:01:27or wanting to retire to this shit. I started
- 1:01:32out with, cause it started with Ken Ward getting
- 1:01:35permission from Warren Mood to wear one. And
- 1:01:36I was like, you know what? He asked, it was a
- 1:01:39whole thing. That's cool. Whatever. Abdul Carter
- 1:01:42has lost his damn mind. I don't know if you've
- 1:01:44seen this. That's a little wild. That's silly.
- 1:01:48I don't think this man has had an original thought
- 1:01:50when it comes to picking a number. There are
- 1:01:51so many numbers. And he wanted to wear, initially
- 1:01:57wanted to wear Lawrence Taylor's number, which
- 1:01:59asking Lawrence Taylor to wear his number has
- 1:02:02to be the craziest thing you could possibly do
- 1:02:04as a rookie. That's a wild ass move. And then
- 1:02:07Lawrence Taylor, Rightfully so. Like said, no,
- 1:02:10it's retired for a reason. Make your own legacy,
- 1:02:13kid. Okay, cool. I wore 11 in college. I'm gonna
- 1:02:16ask Phil Sims if I can wear his retired number.
- 1:02:18He said no. Again, kind of rightfully so. What
- 1:02:23are we doing, Abdulkar? The Warren Moon thing
- 1:02:29is different because, I mean, he was like, hey,
- 1:02:34you can have my number, you know? And, uh, and
- 1:02:37you know, I mean, you can get into weeds with
- 1:02:39like, technically it's retired as a, as an oiler
- 1:02:42and Titans franchise. I'm not doing this. I'm
- 1:02:45not doing this. Titans franchise. We've had this
- 1:02:49debate. So just with the jerseys in general,
- 1:02:52Titans franchise. Yeah. Yep. You're right. So,
- 1:02:55um, but yeah, no, but this is Lawrence Taylor,
- 1:03:01the, the greatest defender of all time. And also
- 1:03:06a psychopath. Respectful. Love him like he is.
- 1:03:11He was like you said, one of the greatest friends
- 1:03:13of football players of all time, if not the greatest.
- 1:03:16Psychopath. You know what? You know what he did
- 1:03:20on his draft night? Crack. I think I think he
- 1:03:24just had 28 cores light. No, then yes, but and
- 1:03:28then crack. This is not like defamation. He's
- 1:03:34been publicly he's made that his crack usage
- 1:03:38public Yes, he was I Did see that that story
- 1:03:45where um, he was like, what did you do your job?
- 1:03:47I drank like 28 course lights or something. Yeah
- 1:03:52Smokes crack guys. I mean guys a legend but then
- 1:03:56to go from like one retired player to another
- 1:03:59especially a quarterback when you're a edge rusher
- 1:04:02like What are we doing? Also, at Penn, like he
- 1:04:07wore 11 at Penn State. The reason he wore 11
- 1:04:10at Penn State is because that's like, it's like
- 1:04:13an honor to wear that number. It's like you were
- 1:04:15selected to wear that number. So when was the
- 1:04:21last time where he chose his jersey number? Because
- 1:04:24it's been at least three years, I think. Your
- 1:04:27question. Yeah, probably high school. High school,
- 1:04:30yeah. And like, Again, there are so many numbers.
- 1:04:34There are dozens of numbers. How can you just,
- 1:04:38I'm going to pick the best, arguably the best
- 1:04:42player in franchise history. Ask him first. He
- 1:04:46said, no, okay. I'll ask the second best player
- 1:04:49in franchise history. I'm, I'm tired of this
- 1:04:53whole like, it seems to be like we're trending
- 1:04:55in a direction where like rookies are going to
- 1:04:59be asking this from Not just this year, but possibly
- 1:05:03years in the future. I'm very, I'm taking a stance
- 1:05:06after cam ward, not biased at all. I'm anti wearing
- 1:05:11retired numbers. It's, it's ridiculous. Yeah.
- 1:05:14If, uh, if a Titans player comes after Eddie's
- 1:05:19number or Steve's number, I'm like, I mean, sir,
- 1:05:26someone, I forget who off the top of my head,
- 1:05:27I'll look it up. Someone's wearing CJ's. That's
- 1:05:31fine We haven't retired him have we we haven't
- 1:05:34retired, but it's still like Yeah, I think didn't
- 1:05:39Jeremy McNichols where CJ did it did oh I think
- 1:05:43he did I think it did I mean it was like It's
- 1:05:48not it's not a big deal. Like it's not a it's
- 1:05:51not it's it Yeah, it's just the only reason it's
- 1:05:53getting talked about is because cam is wearing
- 1:05:55warm warm insumber. Yeah, well he Could you say
- 1:06:01that cam set a precedent for these rookies? Unfortunately,
- 1:06:06yes, you could definitely say that you could
- 1:06:08I think you could say that but I also I think
- 1:06:12we're also getting into the the era and You know,
- 1:06:16you've seen it in shows like I mean Futurama
- 1:06:21comes to mind where you know They go to a like
- 1:06:26that that show takes place in the year 3000 So
- 1:06:30like they go to the Yankees game and all their
- 1:06:33player numbers are like Fractions You know cuz
- 1:06:39like all of their like numbers are retired so
- 1:06:43like for nobody nobody has a number anymore,
- 1:06:48so we're Kind of like I don't want to say we're
- 1:06:53getting into that era, but we are kind of stepping
- 1:06:57into that era where it's like this is this is
- 1:07:00the number that I've worn throughout my entire
- 1:07:03career I want to wear this number may I have
- 1:07:07your permission and that player that had that
- 1:07:11number says no and you're just like okay I guess
- 1:07:18yeah like I mean there's really only a couple
- 1:07:22of franchises where or that's You know, yeah,
- 1:07:26it's starting to become an issue like yeah, I
- 1:07:28mean you just think of the really old teams like
- 1:07:32the Yankees are like the the Canadians are the
- 1:07:34Leafs like they have so many Retired numbers
- 1:07:38Celtics are like that too. Yeah. Yeah, so it
- 1:07:41is you know, I won't say it's slowly becoming
- 1:07:44that but For everyone so it kind of I I don't
- 1:07:51think it's I don't think it's like it an epidemic
- 1:07:55Whatsoever, you know, but I know but I think
- 1:07:59we're We're teetering we're teetering for sure
- 1:08:05Also, I think You're setting yourself up to either
- 1:08:10be you either have to be fucking incredible or
- 1:08:16This is a huge mistake. Yeah, because I mean
- 1:08:20there's a chance like Ken Ward just doesn't work
- 1:08:23out There's probably a pretty good chance that
- 1:08:25happens. There's probably a pretty good chance.
- 1:08:27What? Like, or also sitting there like, hey,
- 1:08:30fucking thanks a lot, kid, for discussing my
- 1:08:33number. I mean, that this will never happen.
- 1:08:35Like, I think we're one like Titans like this
- 1:08:40will happen to Kim Ward. We're like a monumental
- 1:08:43bust away, like wearing a retired number away
- 1:08:47from this never happening again, because just
- 1:08:49like who wants to do that? So. I really hope
- 1:08:54that doesn't happen with us, but I think that's
- 1:08:56what it would have to take for this to permanently
- 1:08:58just stop. And I could just be overreacting because
- 1:09:02it's only happened, I guess, three times, granted,
- 1:09:05for two players that I know of at least. So I
- 1:09:09could be overreacting, but I saw Abdulkar ask
- 1:09:12two guys, and they both said no. And I was like,
- 1:09:15what are we doing here? Yeah. I mean, I think
- 1:09:20it does show a lot that a player who is still
- 1:09:26alive, you know, that has a jersey number retired
- 1:09:31in your franchise, comes out and hands you their
- 1:09:36number. I think that does show a lot. That shows
- 1:09:39a lot of faith in that player. And God, God,
- 1:09:48Cam Ward, you are, you are, please save us. Please
- 1:09:53save us, Kam Lord. Please save us, Kam Lord.
- 1:09:56Please save us, Kam Lord. I think that shows
- 1:10:00a lot of faith. And there's something to that
- 1:10:04where a player doesn't want to give up their
- 1:10:09number at the same time. You know what I mean?
- 1:10:13Like, it's like, no, like, make your own legacy
- 1:10:19also, but... Also like you can also build off
- 1:10:25of this number I Get I get both schools of thought
- 1:10:30honestly Yeah, like I just don't want this to
- 1:10:32be a thing is what I yeah, I get that yeah. Yeah
- 1:10:36Yeah, it doesn't need it. It doesn't need to
- 1:10:39be a regular thing, but it does show faith in
- 1:10:42the franchise to hand off your number like I
- 1:10:47do like that like Warren Moon handing off his
- 1:10:51number to Cam Ward was cool. Like it was, it
- 1:10:56was sick. Like let's not, let's not like. What's
- 1:11:03the word Will? Get it twisted. Let's not get
- 1:11:06it twisted. Yep. It was cool. But yeah. It was.
- 1:11:15I just. He needs to be the last one to do it.
- 1:11:19Granted, we only have two others, but he needs
- 1:11:22to be the last one to do it forever. With us,
- 1:11:27at least. Eddie and Steve should be untouchable
- 1:11:31forever. But Warren Moon was in the 60s. I guess
- 1:11:43we can give it a pass, I guess. But yeah, like
- 1:11:47Lawrence Taylor, like, wasn't he like? Like late
- 1:11:5180s, like 80s, late 80s into the early 90s. Yeah,
- 1:11:55like. It's it's early enough to where you can't
- 1:12:01really ask for it also. And like not disrespecting
- 1:12:07Warren Moon whatsoever, he's a phenomenal player.
- 1:12:09Yeah, Lawrence Taylor is objectively the best
- 1:12:12player in his position, like. I would say definitely,
- 1:12:17but he's top three. I would say argument. I mean,
- 1:12:22he might be a top 10 player all time. Yeah. So
- 1:12:26again, like not to disrespect one move, but I
- 1:12:29mean, Lawrence Taylor is, that's another level.
- 1:12:33If we're being perfectly honest. Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:12:37Um, hurricanes, uh, one and over time. Just wanted
- 1:12:40to throw that out there. All right, I'm gonna
- 1:12:42go, uh, rest in a bathtub. Jesus H. I'm joking.
- 1:12:48Relax. Relax, you relax. Yeah, that was really
- 1:12:52dark, sorry. Jesus. I've been, I've been ice
- 1:12:58cold, bro. It's been bad. I've been ice cold.
