- 0:09Speaker 1: My wife sent me something on Instagram the other day
- 0:12Speaker 1: and all, you know, this just goes to show how
- 0:14Speaker 1: exciting my life is. My Instagram and social media now
- 0:17Speaker 1: is just flooded with pet stuff and basically parenting new
- 0:22Speaker 1: baby stuff.
- 0:23Speaker 2: That is exciting. That part is exciting. Yeah, you're right,
- 0:26Speaker 2: that part is exciting.
- 0:28Speaker 1: And now at our house, there is just something about
- 0:31Speaker 1: our cats. You know, we have just a gaggle of
- 0:33Speaker 1: cats around our house and they, you know, they just
- 0:35Speaker 1: they just love Dad. They're male caregiver. They're Papa, okay,
- 0:40Speaker 1: all right. They like sitting by me, snuggling up. Maybe
- 0:43Speaker 1: because I give off so much body heat and they're
- 0:46Speaker 1: just trying to be warm. I don't know, but the
- 0:48Speaker 1: cats are just very, very loving towards Den.
- 0:50Speaker 3: They're drawn to you, GiB that's right.
- 0:53Speaker 1: And Corey sent me this yesterday on Instagram. I want
- 0:56Speaker 1: you to listen to this and tell me what you think.
- 0:58Speaker 4: Here a new study planes why certain cats may greet
- 1:01Speaker 4: male owners louder than women. The data was gathered after
- 1:05Speaker 4: cat owners were given body cameras to wear at home,
- 1:08Speaker 4: and researchers say the cats me out more frequent when
- 1:11Speaker 4: saying hello to their male caregivers and animal experts suggests
- 1:16Speaker 4: cats are or more vocal because men don't always listen.
- 1:20Speaker 5: Yeah, so when I get home and the cats they
- 1:25Speaker 5: seem all excited and you know, me ow and away,
- 1:28Speaker 5: and when they go up to mom, you know, the
- 1:30Speaker 5: big joke is like.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Oh Dad's home, they're all excited. Yeah, YadA YadA.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Corey sends me that is she trying to tell me
- 1:36Speaker 1: I need to be a better listener.
- 1:39Speaker 2: There's one hundred that's.
- 1:41Speaker 3: What she's saying.
- 1:42Speaker 6: And I feel like there have been studies with humans
- 1:44Speaker 6: about this of like having to speak up more and
- 1:47Speaker 6: louder because guys don't listen and you just tune us out.
- 1:52Speaker 3: And apparently you're tuning the cats out.
- 1:54Speaker 6: Too, so you need to be a better listener, Gabe,
- 1:57Speaker 6: She's absolutely correct.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Sorry, what did you say? I hate you.
- 2:05Speaker 7: Celebrating life's little victories every morning we practice gratitude on
- 2:10Speaker 7: Big ninety eight point seven.
- 2:12Speaker 1: If I could, I would keep this feeling in a
- 2:14Speaker 1: plastic job busted out when it was someone's acting hard.
- 2:18Speaker 7: Sure your little victories with us at seven oh one
- 2:21Speaker 7: two and Oho one ninety eight seven, kids.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I also needed to win that day, all right, Angie,
- 2:27Speaker 1: I think we have to start off with Melissa's little
- 2:29Speaker 1: victory today.
- 2:30Speaker 2: This is great.
- 2:31Speaker 1: She said, I was sick of asking people for help,
- 2:34Speaker 1: so I moved this couch into an apartment by myself.
- 2:38Speaker 1: It's a six foot vintage couch, and she moved it
- 2:41Speaker 1: into her apartment solo.
- 2:42Speaker 6: All right, Batty, Yeah, not only by yourself, buddy, In
- 2:47Speaker 6: these weather conditions, you deserve a metal girl.
- 2:51Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Disgusting. I wouldn't think of a worse time.
- 2:53Speaker 3: To try to do that, but nobody wanted to help exactly.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Congratulations to you, Angie. Do you have a victory today?
- 3:01Speaker 3: I do so.
- 3:02Speaker 6: When I was gone on my trip a few weeks ago,
- 3:07Speaker 6: Mikey was with the kids and he was in charge
- 3:09Speaker 6: obviously of keeping them alive, but he was making their
- 3:12Speaker 6: meals all week, and I kept getting texts about how
- 3:15Speaker 6: everything Mike makes is so delicious blah blah blah.
- 3:19Speaker 3: And they don't do that to me.
- 3:21Speaker 6: They're like, oh this again, Like they're not super fans
- 3:26Speaker 6: of my cooking.
- 3:27Speaker 3: They're also really stopping now. They're really SnO because they
- 3:30Speaker 3: don't like leftovers. I'm like, you better.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Learn, Yeah, you better leftover.
- 3:35Speaker 6: Family, Yes, And so last night I made these tofu
- 3:41Speaker 6: rice bowls and the kids gobbled them up and loved them.
- 3:47Speaker 6: And then I don't know if you watched The Great
- 3:48Speaker 6: British Baking Show, but Paul Hollywood, when someone makes a
- 3:52Speaker 6: really great baked good, he gives them a handshake.
- 3:56Speaker 3: And Liam gave me a handshake.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Wow, that's your younger one. Yes, you don't.
- 4:01Speaker 6: I'm the nine year old or the eight year old. Wow, No,
- 4:04Speaker 6: his age, Angie. He is a harsher critic than my
- 4:08Speaker 6: older son. And so for him to give me the
- 4:10Speaker 6: handshake and tell me I did a good job with dinner,
- 4:13Speaker 6: that meant everything to me.
- 4:14Speaker 3: It's the little things in life, Gabe.
- 4:17Speaker 2: That is wonderful.
- 4:18Speaker 1: My little victory for you here this morning was yesterday
- 4:22Speaker 1: I got to be champion hubby of the moment.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:25Speaker 1: We were at Unhinged obviously for big happy hours. Yes,
- 4:28Speaker 1: it was a great time. It's always fun on Thursdays
- 4:31Speaker 1: A when you stop by and visit us and and B.
- 4:34Speaker 1: I get to hang out with Angie and Mikey normally
- 4:36Speaker 1: on those days. But yesterday I left to go to Unhinged. Now,
- 4:41Speaker 1: normally my wife Corey will go with. You know, she
- 4:43Speaker 1: has no problem going, but it was one of those
- 4:46Speaker 1: scenarios where I had to go and she kind of
- 4:48Speaker 1: wasn't getting off work on time to ride to ride
- 4:50Speaker 1: with me, so she had decided, well ride by my
- 4:54Speaker 1: drive myself to Unhinge.
- 4:55Speaker 6: Absolutely not, I get it, queen, I don't drive myself anyway.
- 4:59Speaker 1: He des to stay home, which is perfectly fine, of course,
- 5:02Speaker 1: but your boy got to walk in thanks to Unhinged,
- 5:07Speaker 1: who made it the children's pizza, just a nice little
- 5:11Speaker 1: personal pizza for her. And when I got home, I
- 5:14Speaker 1: was the food hero of the day and all of
- 5:17Speaker 1: the credit goes to Unhinged Sports Bar in West Fargo.
- 5:20Speaker 1: So I was hubby of the century yesterday because I
- 5:23Speaker 1: showed up with food.
- 5:24Speaker 6: Oh my gosh, especially now that she's pregnant like that.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Wow, Gabe.
- 5:30Speaker 6: Let me now.
- 5:35Speaker 1: There was this dad who went viral on social media,
- 5:39Speaker 1: of course, because he turned kind of mundane, frankly, kind
- 5:44Speaker 1: of icky task into just an enjoyable moment for him
- 5:48Speaker 1: and his new baby.
- 5:49Speaker 8: Right.
- 5:49Speaker 1: That is all that my wife and I see on
- 5:51Speaker 1: social media nowadays. For both of us, it's like dog
- 5:53Speaker 1: videos and baby slash parenting videos and what have you.
- 5:57Speaker 6: Oh my gosh, that's my algorithm to no, because I
- 6:00Speaker 6: hang out so much.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Your phone is listening. Yeah, and he passes.
- 6:05Speaker 1: The time changing a diaper by just he just makes
- 6:07Speaker 1: up songs and it's turned into kind of this fun
- 6:09Speaker 1: little thing he does for social media. And wait for
- 6:12Speaker 1: him to ay get through changing this diaper and me
- 6:15Speaker 1: it's just kind of some bonding moment for him and
- 6:18Speaker 1: to set a baby. Now, maybe that'll be something I
- 6:21Speaker 1: do when said baby arrives. But how do you get
- 6:25Speaker 1: through mundane tasks? Like when you have some dishes to do?
- 6:29Speaker 1: You know they take five to ten minutes, but you
- 6:31Speaker 1: gotta do them. Yeah, what do you do to kind
- 6:33Speaker 1: of pass the time and you're doing little light chores
- 6:36Speaker 1: like that?
- 6:36Speaker 6: Specifically with the dishes. Actually, I have the kid, Like,
- 6:40Speaker 6: the kids will be in the living room and so
- 6:42Speaker 6: will Mikey, and then I have to be stuck in
- 6:44Speaker 6: the kitchen doing dishes because they treat.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Me like trash. No, I'm kidding.
- 6:47Speaker 6: I have a very specific way that I like the
- 6:49Speaker 6: dishes done, so I'm like, no, no, just let me
- 6:51Speaker 6: do them. But it's not fun for me. So we
- 6:54Speaker 6: play a game of twenty questions. Oh sure, yeah, But
- 6:57Speaker 6: because I'm the one watching the dishes. I get to
- 6:59Speaker 6: always be the one that picks the thing that I'm
- 7:02Speaker 6: like looking at, and then they have to ask the
- 7:04Speaker 6: twenty questions and.
- 7:06Speaker 3: It does myself fast. It's really fun and I think
- 7:09Speaker 3: very wholesome.
- 7:10Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Seven oh one two eight zero one, nine eight seven.
- 7:13Speaker 1: That's very cute. I think a lot of people could.
- 7:15Speaker 1: That's kind of a fun way to interact with your
- 7:16Speaker 1: family a little bit too. Yeah it is seven oh
- 7:19Speaker 1: one two eight zero one nine eight seven. How do
- 7:21Speaker 1: you make mundane tasks go by? What about you, Julie?
- 7:25Speaker 8: I turned running into a competition against my own bad habits.
- 7:29Speaker 8: I only let myself listen to my favorite podcast if
- 7:32Speaker 8: I'm jogging, and now I'm mad if I don't run
- 7:35Speaker 8: because I need to know what happens next. I just
- 7:38Speaker 8: totally tricks my own brain.
- 7:39Speaker 2: That's mad.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Smart Mark take away something you like unless you're doing
- 7:43Speaker 1: something you'd maybe maybe you enjoy, but don't love.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, oh gosh, I couldn't jogging. I would
- 7:50Speaker 3: never hear the podcast.
- 7:52Speaker 1: One of my favorite things. If I have to do
- 7:54Speaker 1: the dishes or you know, do cooking or whatever, Yeah,
- 7:58Speaker 1: is I will whatever team with sports team that I
- 8:02Speaker 1: had just watched the night before. I will listen to,
- 8:06Speaker 1: you know people, it's like a podcast, but I'll listen
- 8:08Speaker 1: to people talk about that team, right, So I'll listen
- 8:10Speaker 1: to you know, like the vit the hot Vikings takes
- 8:14Speaker 1: of the week, and I never and these are like
- 8:16Speaker 1: forty five minute long things, and I never get anywhere
- 8:19Speaker 1: close to the end. I get maybe eight minutes in
- 8:22Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh, yeah, I should pause that.
- 8:23Speaker 2: I'll listen to that later.
- 8:25Speaker 6: Never I've never finished until the next MONDAYE.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Right, Richard, what about you? How do you pass mundane
- 8:32Speaker 1: task time?
- 8:33Speaker 7: Music definitely helps with most tasks. Whenever I have to
- 8:37Speaker 7: clean something that's gonna take me a while, I just
- 8:39Speaker 7: flash the music and the time seems to fly right by.
- 8:42Speaker 2: That's wonderful. You're welcome. Yeah.
- 8:44Speaker 6: He clearly has the Big ninety eight points of an
- 8:46Speaker 6: app downloaded onto his phone and playing through his speaker.
- 8:52Speaker 2: This is am I the problem.
- 8:55Speaker 3: It's me, HI the problem, it's me.
- 9:00Speaker 7: We'll hear one side of the story and with your
- 9:02Speaker 7: help probably decide if it's right or if maybe you're
- 9:07Speaker 7: the problem.
- 9:08Speaker 3: That's right, I am the problem.
- 9:10Speaker 2: On Big ninety eight point seven.
- 9:14Speaker 6: Maggie wrote into us, Hey guys, this is Maggie, and
- 9:17Speaker 6: I think I'm never gonna be invited to a playdate
- 9:20Speaker 6: ever again. Wow Wow, what a hot start, Meg. My
- 9:25Speaker 6: four year old son made a friend at daycare and
- 9:27Speaker 6: the mom invited us to grab lunch at West Acres
- 9:30Speaker 6: and then walk around. Lunch was great, but when we
- 9:33Speaker 6: headed out into the mall, she busted out the harness
- 9:36Speaker 6: and leash for her kid.
- 9:38Speaker 3: I just held my son's hand.
- 9:40Speaker 6: I might have mentioned I would never put my kid
- 9:42Speaker 6: on the leash, maybe with more umph in my voice
- 9:45Speaker 6: than I expected to come out. I walked it back immediately,
- 9:49Speaker 6: but it was obviously awkward. She explained her kid as
- 9:51Speaker 6: a bit of a wild child, and I told her
- 9:53Speaker 6: I totally understand, but I think the damage is done.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Huh do you.
- 10:00Speaker 6: Think it was okay for her to be like, oh,
- 10:03Speaker 6: the leash?
- 10:04Speaker 2: I will tell you right now. Okay.
- 10:06Speaker 1: I have a couple buddies, all right, one of them
- 10:08Speaker 1: we might call Seysar. Okay, my buddy, Saysar, whom I
- 10:12Speaker 1: loved to death. I was in his wedding this past summer.
- 10:15Speaker 1: That's my guy, no matter what. Okay, but Saysar, is
- 10:18Speaker 1: a little bit of a liability when you are out
- 10:21Speaker 1: and about with him. Okay, you never exactly know what
- 10:24Speaker 1: this man is going to get into, what he's going
- 10:27Speaker 1: to say or do or what have you. There are
- 10:29Speaker 1: multiple instances of Seysar just being an idiot and potentially
- 10:35Speaker 1: getting kicked out of certain places where it's like, well,
- 10:38Speaker 1: we gotta go with Seysar and that is my boy, okay.
- 10:41Speaker 2: And you know what we do. We ride or die
- 10:44Speaker 2: with our boy.
- 10:45Speaker 1: If you have a kid and they have a friend
- 10:49Speaker 1: who is a leash kid, you know what, you just
- 10:51Speaker 1: shut up and you keep it pushing.
- 10:52Speaker 2: That is a ride or die moment. You just shut up.
- 10:56Speaker 3: I like that.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I understand that it might be like, oh, man, like
- 11:00Speaker 1: I gotta do deal with this today? Is this kid
- 11:03Speaker 1: gonna do? What are people gonna think? Who cares that?
- 11:07Speaker 1: If that's your boy, you stand ten toes down for
- 11:10Speaker 1: your boy. And in this case it's your son's friend, Okay,
- 11:13Speaker 1: you are supposed to be there to support him and
- 11:16Speaker 1: you just hope to God all goes well. That's kind
- 11:18Speaker 1: of like when I hang out with my buddy, says
- 11:19Speaker 1: are we just go out and pray it ends great.
- 11:22Speaker 6: I love this energy. Seven oh one Toto one nine
- 11:25Speaker 6: eight seven. Do you think it was wrong for Maggie
- 11:28Speaker 6: to be a little bit of judge?
- 11:30Speaker 3: What g was a bear with this new.
- 11:33Speaker 6: Mom friend that she has because the mom put her
- 11:36Speaker 6: kid in one of those harness harness leash things. I
- 11:39Speaker 6: have some thoughts on this, but I need to collect them.
- 11:42Speaker 6: We also want to hear from you. Seven oh one
- 11:44Speaker 6: toto one, nine eighty seven.
- 11:50Speaker 1: But Chili, I think we probably just it's gonna be cold.
- 11:53Speaker 1: It's gonna be cold, Maggie.
- 11:54Speaker 2: He's like fifteen, that'll.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Be Monday, hopefully.
- 11:58Speaker 6: So Maggie went on a play date with a mom
- 12:02Speaker 6: who invited her and her kid and they went to
- 12:05Speaker 6: walk around West Acres and the mom busted out the
- 12:09Speaker 6: harness and the leash for her kid. Maggie's kid doesn't
- 12:13Speaker 6: have one of those, and Maggie said, oh, I would
- 12:16Speaker 6: never put my kid on a leash and didn't realize
- 12:19Speaker 6: maybe I said that a little harsh and she tried
- 12:20Speaker 6: to walk back.
- 12:21Speaker 3: But she thinks the damage is done. Was she the problem?
- 12:25Speaker 6: I'm gonna tell you this, Maggie. It must be nice
- 12:29Speaker 6: to have a kid where you don't have to worry
- 12:32Speaker 6: about them. Running off on a whim. Sure, but some
- 12:38Speaker 6: of us don't have that kid. Now. I have Liam
- 12:41Speaker 6: is eight, but when he was younger, in that age,
- 12:44Speaker 6: they were four years old.
- 12:45Speaker 3: As her kid, he was quite the flight risk. Okay.
- 12:50Speaker 6: In fact, in kindergarten, this this boy ran out of
- 12:55Speaker 6: the school twice and they had to put out like
- 12:58Speaker 6: an APB, like we've got a kid on the loose.
- 13:00Speaker 6: And he literally ran out of the school, out of
- 13:03Speaker 6: the campus, completely across the street.
- 13:06Speaker 3: He was trying to run home.
- 13:07Speaker 6: Like this kid, I should put him in track. This
- 13:10Speaker 6: kid was a runner.
- 13:12Speaker 1: He would have been real good in The Great Escape,
- 13:14Speaker 1: that movie exactly.
- 13:16Speaker 6: So I never put him on a leash harness situation
- 13:21Speaker 6: because I was one of those people who would judge
- 13:24Speaker 6: moms that would do that until I had a kid
- 13:27Speaker 6: of my own, Yeah, who.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Was a flight risk, and it was like ugh.
- 13:30Speaker 6: And the reason that I never put him on there
- 13:32Speaker 6: was because I was worried what other moms would think
- 13:36Speaker 6: and if they would be judging me. Sometimes a kid
- 13:39Speaker 6: need a leash, okay, And when that happens, you just
- 13:42Speaker 6: avert your eyes, okay, don't.
- 13:43Speaker 3: Say anything about it.
- 13:45Speaker 6: We all go through our struggles as parents we try
- 13:48Speaker 6: not to. I think it's important to try not to
- 13:50Speaker 6: judge each other unless the kid is being put in
- 13:53Speaker 6: harm's way. I think we all just gotta let everybody
- 13:56Speaker 6: do their parenting the way they're gonna do it.
- 13:58Speaker 2: And just keep it moving.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Yes, and just keep it moving.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Carla, she said, Obviously she's been judged two before, so
- 14:07Speaker 1: if she's interested, she'll reach out to you or vice versa.
- 14:11Speaker 1: In the meantime, people, instead of judging the mom that
- 14:15Speaker 1: might have her kid on a harness or the leash,
- 14:17Speaker 1: think of all the moms you've seen where the kid
- 14:20Speaker 1: is not being controlled and the mom couldn't give a
- 14:23Speaker 1: rats you know what about what people think at least
- 14:26Speaker 1: she is trying. Parenting is tough, and that is true,
- 14:29Speaker 1: and I can only equate this to things I know.
- 14:32Speaker 1: All right, there is nothing worse, and a lot of
- 14:35Speaker 1: people actually probably can't experience this. But have you ever
- 14:37Speaker 1: been to the park and there is just a dog
- 14:40Speaker 1: there that is not on a leash, that really needs
- 14:43Speaker 1: to be.
- 14:43Speaker 2: On one right, yes, of out of control and what
- 14:46Speaker 2: have you.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Now, there's a little bit of a difference between a
- 14:48Speaker 1: dog and a kid, but there is nothing worse than
- 14:52Speaker 1: your dog acting up in a park and that person
- 14:55Speaker 1: doesn't have a leash.
- 14:55Speaker 2: It's like, ah's your dog on a leag what are
- 14:57Speaker 2: you doing. I'm gonna tell you this one now looks.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Yes, but you have so you're gonna have a kid soon.
- 15:05Speaker 6: For those first handful of years, babies and dogs are
- 15:09Speaker 6: very similar. I saw this survey and I thought what And.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Then I thought whoa?
- 15:22Speaker 6: And you know that meme where the girl takes a
- 15:24Speaker 6: swig of the kombucha and she's like ew, but then
- 15:27Speaker 6: she's like whoa.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Yeah, okay.
- 15:31Speaker 6: So there's a new survey that says that like two
- 15:35Speaker 6: thirds of parents don't care if their children cuss or
- 15:40Speaker 6: swear or curse, whatever you want to call it. That
- 15:44Speaker 6: parents are like, yeah, that's fine these days. And that
- 15:47Speaker 6: was surprising to me. However, as a mother to a teenager,
- 15:53Speaker 6: will because my okay, So the rule in my house
- 15:57Speaker 6: seven oh one two eight A one nine eight said,
- 16:00Speaker 6: and do you let your kids swear?
- 16:02Speaker 3: Why or why not? Let us know? I have this
- 16:04Speaker 3: up on the big ninety eight points I have on
- 16:06Speaker 3: Facebook page.
- 16:07Speaker 6: Also, my kid, I know that he swears, aiden I
- 16:11Speaker 6: know he swears, he does not do it in front
- 16:13Speaker 6: of me. But I just know because one time I
- 16:15Speaker 6: heard him on his headset playing video games a couple
- 16:18Speaker 6: of years ago, and I heard him say the F bomb, and.
- 16:22Speaker 3: I was so shocked.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Yeah under the bus there, goodness.
- 16:29Speaker 6: But we had a conversation and I was like, listen,
- 16:32Speaker 6: I can't stop you swear.
- 16:34Speaker 2: There's nothing you can do. And he's at the park.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:36Speaker 6: When I was in the fourth grade, I was swearing
- 16:38Speaker 6: my little heart away. Okay, so I can't stop him.
- 16:42Speaker 6: So the rules for swearing.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Do not swear in front of me, and do not
- 16:47Speaker 3: swear in front of your friend's parents. Basically in front
- 16:50Speaker 3: of adults. You don't be swearing whatever else you do,
- 16:53Speaker 3: like I.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Guess because I don't want you embarrassing me. I don't
- 16:57Speaker 1: care about your language.
- 16:58Speaker 2: No, I'm just yeah, well kind of.
- 17:00Speaker 3: And then but there was one time where we were
- 17:03Speaker 3: we were it was on his birthday, actually his fourteenth birthday,
- 17:07Speaker 3: and it was just me and him. We'd gone to
- 17:08Speaker 3: the movies and he said, hey, do you want to
- 17:11Speaker 3: hear me say the F word just one time to
- 17:14Speaker 3: hear what it sounds like.
- 17:16Speaker 6: Well, yeah, but also clearly this kid knows me, because
- 17:19Speaker 6: I was like, yeah, wow.
- 17:22Speaker 3: So he said it.
- 17:24Speaker 6: And let me tell you, I told this kid, you
- 17:26Speaker 6: sound like a loser like that.
- 17:28Speaker 3: He does not sound good swearing.
- 17:30Speaker 2: My god, it shouldn't.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Be swearing anyway.
- 17:33Speaker 6: I did get some great responses on Facebook. Katie, Christina
- 17:38Speaker 6: and Jared just gave a flat out no, nothing wrong
- 17:41Speaker 6: with that. Yeah, no features on I don't swear in
- 17:44Speaker 6: front of my mom. That was like a big no no.
- 17:46Speaker 6: And I've carried that my entire life. In fact, that's
- 17:48Speaker 6: how I stopped myself from swearing on air. I just
- 17:50Speaker 6: picture my mom is in the room.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's a good way to do it.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Yeah, Sarah said.
- 17:54Speaker 6: When kiddo's hit middle school, we are a lot more
- 17:57Speaker 6: lenient with it. As us parents often swear. We always
- 18:00Speaker 6: discussed proper usage though, time, place, et cetera.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Number one rule is you're swearing cannot be about a person.
- 18:07Speaker 3: Oh I like that.
- 18:08Speaker 6: You can swear when you stub your toe or see
- 18:10Speaker 6: something crazy on TV, but you don't call people B
- 18:14Speaker 6: word or F.
- 18:15Speaker 3: Word or etc.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Sure that was what I was always kind of taught,
- 18:20Speaker 2: you know.
- 18:21Speaker 1: And me and Grandpa and Uncle Steve and my brother
- 18:25Speaker 1: and dad were sitting in the duck blind you know,
- 18:28Speaker 1: it's just the fellas. He didn't really he was pretty
- 18:30Speaker 1: leaning about that, but the second you know, Grandma or
- 18:34Speaker 1: mom was around, that was a no go. My mother
- 18:38Speaker 1: to this day, I'm thirty five years old, okay, I
- 18:40Speaker 1: am like halfway to seventy. My mother still does not
- 18:45Speaker 1: like when any she hears any my older brother or
- 18:48Speaker 1: younger sister, all in our thirties, yeah, swear.
- 18:51Speaker 2: She would just prefer we never did it.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Now some of us are a lot better about abiding
- 18:57Speaker 1: by that rule than others. But even at thirty five,
- 19:00Speaker 1: my mom's still not a fan.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Dad.
- 19:01Speaker 1: I mean, he's got like hearing aids. If he doesn't
- 19:04Speaker 1: have one in, he doesn't hear you anyway, So it
- 19:06Speaker 1: doesn't really matter.
- 19:07Speaker 6: I think for me as a parent, I think if
- 19:10Speaker 6: the worst issue I'm facing is that my kid is swearing,
- 19:13Speaker 6: then things are fine.
- 19:15Speaker 1: And times are different now in twenty twenty six, they're
- 19:18Speaker 1: a lot more lenient with like, hey, maybe songs you
- 19:21Speaker 1: hear on the radio, or be the language they use
- 19:24Speaker 1: on TV shows that are on just basic cable.
- 19:26Speaker 3: Oh I still don't.
- 19:27Speaker 6: I've actually become more strict than my parents were with
- 19:31Speaker 6: what we watch on TV. Amber said, This is my
- 19:35Speaker 6: favorite rules of the house. Once you get a job
- 19:37Speaker 6: and start paying taxes, that's when you can start cussing.
- 19:40Speaker 2: A fair point right there, because.
- 19:44Speaker 3: You had a bad one.
- 19:47Speaker 1: My wife texted me, I don't know forty five or
- 19:49Speaker 1: so a minutes ago. Our dog threw up this morning.
- 19:52Speaker 1: She cleaned it, but when I get back, you know
- 19:54Speaker 1: it might need another scrub.
- 19:55Speaker 3: Okay, and misser sounds terrible. I'm not gonna lie.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Misery loves misery, okay, and your misery just loves company.
- 20:02Speaker 1: I want to have you be the judge or the jury,
- 20:05Speaker 1: or if you're riding along in your car listening at work,
- 20:07Speaker 1: I want you to be the judge and the jury
- 20:09Speaker 1: as well. Are these problems worse than mine? I found
- 20:12Speaker 1: these on a website called fml. Okay, okay, you know
- 20:16Speaker 1: what that means, right, okay, all right? Is my dog
- 20:20Speaker 1: throwing up this morning worse than this today? My boyfriend
- 20:24Speaker 1: told me he thinks brushing his teeth and doing anything
- 20:26Speaker 1: basically hygienic is unnecessary now because we're all going to
- 20:30Speaker 1: die out around twenty fifty anyway.
- 20:34Speaker 6: Wow, well, I mean her life is worse than that.
- 20:39Speaker 6: She clearly doesn't have a boyfriend now.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Like she's got a hick on the curb.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Yeah, one hundred percent. Yeah, I what would I'd say?
- 20:46Speaker 1: I'd argue that would be worse as well, because my
- 20:48Speaker 1: little dog problem, you know, essentially is gonna go away
- 20:51Speaker 1: by today's You got to deal with this well the
- 20:54Speaker 1: next whatever the math is twenty four.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Years Okay, what about this? Today?
- 20:58Speaker 1: My cat came through the window holding a dead rat
- 21:01Speaker 1: in her mouth. That dropped it in my pile of clothes.
- 21:03Speaker 1: I then asked my husband if he could get the
- 21:05Speaker 1: dead rat out of the room. After looking for an hour,
- 21:08Speaker 1: he couldn't find it. I guess the rat wasn't dead
- 21:10Speaker 1: after all. This sounds like my worst nightmare. Uh No,
- 21:14Speaker 1: that's way worse, way worse.
- 21:15Speaker 6: Wait where you should feel real great about your problems
- 21:18Speaker 6: right now, because iw no.
- 21:20Speaker 1: That would be a nightmare. I have two more of
- 21:22Speaker 1: these for you here, Angie. Today, the father of my
- 21:26Speaker 1: unborn child that told me he isn't sure he'll be
- 21:29Speaker 1: able to make the birth since there's not since there's
- 21:32Speaker 1: no guarantee of what it will happen, so we can't
- 21:35Speaker 1: schedule time off. This would be understandable if he actually
- 21:39Speaker 1: had a job.
- 21:41Speaker 6: There's no way mall you about to be a single
- 21:45Speaker 6: mom girl, and that is horrible FML for her.
- 21:49Speaker 3: You're living a pretty nice life right now, Gabe.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like I've got it pretty good.
- 21:53Speaker 1: And then my last one here today after I got
- 21:56Speaker 1: the birth control implant, waited a week like my doctor
- 22:00Speaker 1: told me, my fiance is too still excuse me, my
- 22:03Speaker 1: fiance is still too scared that I'll get pregnant.
- 22:07Speaker 2: It's been two months.
- 22:09Speaker 6: Wow, that's I mean, yeah, FML for her.
- 22:14Speaker 2: That's worse. Hey, you know what gave you?
- 22:18Speaker 7: Do?
- 22:18Speaker 3: You feel great now? You're gonna be smiling when you're
- 22:21Speaker 3: at home scrubbing dog. Vombit now.
- 22:28Speaker 7: Starting off the day with something good. This is Gabe's
- 22:32Speaker 7: good News on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 22:35Speaker 2: This is such a cute story.
- 22:37Speaker 1: It's about a one hundred year old man who recently
- 22:40Speaker 1: helped celebrate the one hundredth day of school with his
- 22:45Speaker 1: great granddaughter's kindergarten class. Sunny, who was born in nineteen
- 22:51Speaker 1: twenty five, was in the US Navy, and he attended
- 22:54Speaker 1: this milestone event as part of a show and tell.
- 22:57Speaker 1: The students dressed up as a centenarians, which I believe.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Is how you say it?
- 23:02Speaker 3: One hundred year olds?
- 23:03Speaker 1: One hundred year olds, And they got to ask Sonny
- 23:07Speaker 1: questions about how his life has changed over the decades,
- 23:10Speaker 1: including transportation, grocery shopping, and this great grandpa shared stories
- 23:15Speaker 1: from his life and said faith and family are what
- 23:17Speaker 1: have sustained him for one hundred years. I always used
- 23:21Speaker 1: to love I remember in like first grade when either
- 23:24Speaker 1: my dad or mom or whoever or someone else's mom
- 23:28Speaker 1: or dad would come and have lunch with the kids
- 23:30Speaker 1: for I always thought that was the coolest thing. That's
- 23:33Speaker 1: one thing I'm looking forward to about being a parent.
- 23:35Speaker 1: If they want me there, it's shown up one day
- 23:37Speaker 1: just for lunch.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Even if they don't want you there, you go.
- 23:41Speaker 2: That's true, but very very cool.
- 23:43Speaker 1: What a fun day for those kids too, because to them,
- 23:46Speaker 1: I mean, one hundred years old is so far away
- 23:50Speaker 1: when you're in kindergarten. Yeah, the world is full of
- 23:52Speaker 1: nice people. If you can't find one, you gotta be one.
