- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hello everyone and welcome back into another episode of the Live Wild Podcast.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: I am so excited because today we are breaking down why you are bloated all the time.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: And guys, I still see women struggling with bloating.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: Ladies, we should not be bloated all the time.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: I mean, ideally never, but I understand.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: It happens once in a while.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: But if it's happening every day, if it's stopping you from living your life, if you feel uncomfortable in your clothing, or you feel uncomfortable naked, guys, we gotta solve this bloated problem.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna break down the reasons why you're bloated in this episode to give you some insights so you can start fixing that now.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: Um, in terms of updates from me, I mean it's so cold here in Toronto.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: I'm really waiting for the summer weather.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: I bought a patio set, I have sat on it like twice.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: I am ready to sit at least on my patio, given the fact that in Toronto we cannot sit on restaurant patios right now.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: I want to I'll just take even sitting on my patio, even like, oh, you know, like a warm cup of coffee in the morning, sitting on the patio, gonna be a little nip in the air.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Like, mmm.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm all about that.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Um Nakasha, I feel like I always have a Nakasha updating these podcasts.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: I really need to do just a full dedicated aspect of like thing but puppy life update why we're just I might do one of those online, but um, yeah, we're still not sleeping through the night, guys.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: It's it's an issue.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: We're we're healing it.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Um, I am looking into a holistic vet.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: So if you guys know of anyone in the Toronto area who's like a naturopath for vet or for like animals, um definitely send them my way.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Um, because like yeah, we're we're we're trying all the things here to get her to start sleeping through the night.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: It's so crazy.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: She's at daycare all day, you know, she comes home when she's still up at night.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: So, like, there's there's a little bit of a struggle buzz, which is also why I am drinking my green juice right now.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: I've been obsessed with drinking or like making green juice.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: I know you can buy it out, but honestly, I've been making my own at home because I have a breath juicer, it works really well.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: I do cucumber cilantro's to help my liver detox.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Um, the cucumber is really hydrating, and I do lemon for like gut health.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: I'll do some ginger also for inflammation and gut health, but also I add in cucumber.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Oh, I also do some celery.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: I basically do fruit-free and like greens.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Um, sometimes I'll do parsley, but I really like cilantro and it's just it just wakes me up.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: It gets me all my nutrients in.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: It's a vibe.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: We are feeling it.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Oh, also wanted to mention that I am opening up some one-on-one spots.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: So I know my one-on-one has been closed for a while because I'm well, I've had too many, I was completely bugged.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: I couldn't take any more on.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: However, we have some wonderful ladies finishing, so I will be opening up a few spots right now.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: So if you're hearing this at the beginning of May and you've been like, Live, I want to balance my hormones, I want to stop feeling PMS, I want to either lose weight or fix my gut health and just feel better in life.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: I want to, you know, have the best health.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Send me a DM, we can chat, tell me what you're struggling with.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: I can tell you if one-on-one is good for you, and we can go from there.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: If you're listening to this like after May and it's like months down the line, still reach out.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: Just feel free to send me a DM anytime if you feel like you want to work together, and we can always get you on the wait list for the next time a spot opens up so that you can be notified before I even announce it, either on Instagram or my podcast.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Um, we had like someone already sign up before I even like announced this because she was waiting for a spot, so we can definitely do that for you as well.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: So, do I have any other updates?
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: I feel like one-on-one, Akasha, we're gonna get into this.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: Ooh, I don't know.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: I feel like that's all the updates I have.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: Anyways, that being oh no, I do have one more update, guys.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: I knew I knew I had one more update.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: I was like, I was forgetting something.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: Um, thank you guys to all of you who've been sending in your podcast reviews.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: If you guys missed it, if you send in a five-star rating in review, you will be entered to win either an energy healing from me or an initial health consult.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: Um, energy healing self-explanatory or the initial health consult with basically you tell me what you're struggling with, whether it's PMS, Dev Health, etc., and I will tell you what I see going on and like what I would do to help you.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: So if you submit a rating, make sure to take a screenshot before clicking the submit button either on Spotify or Apple iTunes, um, because otherwise, once you click submit, you won't be able to screenshot your own review.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: So send it, um, take a screenshot, submit it to live at kepupwithlive.com, and you will be entered to win one of those.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: And I'll be pulling probably like I don't know, anywhere from three to four different winners per month.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: So there is like a high chance, and every time um you you will be entered like the same time every week, it's gonna be like the same list that I'm pulling from.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: So even if you submit like this week, you'll still be entered for like every time I pull one.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: So getting it in sooner also means that your you know your reviews being pulled from like less of a bank of reviews, if that makes sense.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: So this week's winner is Carolyn.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Um, your Instagram is SPIG0613.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: So thank you so much for the review, and I will read it.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Uh, I love Live, I really enjoy this podcast.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: Live is real and gives great information.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: I have learned so many wonderful tools to help with my health.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: She understands that healing comes from the inside out and that you must heal and love your soul to achieve complete wellness.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much, Carolyn, for that wonderful heartwarming review.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: Feel free to either email me um or send me a DM on Instagram and we will let me know which you prefer, whether it's the energy healing or the initial health consult, and we will get you set up with that.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: So, with that being said, let's go ahead and jump into the episode.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Live Well Podcast.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: This podcast is designed to help you live well, body, mind, and soul.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Liv, a natural health and wellness expert, and each week you will walk away with the insights, tools, and tips to truly live your best life.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: If you are looking to live well, you are in the right place.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: A new episode starts now.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: Okay, everyone, welcome back to another episode, and today I am breaking down why you are bloated all the time.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: So, occasional bloating, you know, after a stressful day, or maybe getting takeout is normal, but that does not mean that you know getting bloated every single day after every single meal is normal.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: It should not be happening often.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: It should only be happening, let's say, for example, you eat french fries out and you get bloated, okay, that you know can happen.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: But if you're getting bloated after every single meal, every single day, even with healthy food, this is definitely not normal.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: Your gut should be this it should be full but not bloated after every single meal.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: So it can be hard to differentiate what is full and what is bloated.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Bloated feels like pressure.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: So if it feels like there's a balloon in your stomach, this is bloated.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: This is not normal.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: It is normal to feel full after a meal, but you don't want this full to feel like a balloon, right?
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: Because your gut bacteria can produce gas when they're digesting food, and you know that turns into energy.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: However, it should not feel like a balloon.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: So that's the best way to differentiate feeling full versus balloon.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: Full will feel dense, it won't feel like air expanding.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: If it is bloating, it will feel yeah, like a balloon.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: I think I've said balloon five times.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: But just know that this is not normal.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: I think unfortunately, it is getting like made to seem that bloating is normal.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: Unfortunately, it's not, it's just unfortunate that a lot of women struggle with bloating because, well, A, they're doing the things that I'm mentioning this episode.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: B, basically everyone's hormones are messed up, they're eating the wrong things, they're stressed out, and just because something is just because a lot of people suffer from it does not make it normal.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: For example, you know, I think the rating that has like over 50% of people in the US are obese, that does not make it normal or okay, just because most people have it.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: Does that make sense?
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: So I really want to make sure you understand that bloating is a symptom that something is off with your digestion.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: When something is off with your digestion, chances are you're feeling tired, you are not getting energized after meals, maybe you're feeling really, really exhausted after meals, or you rely on caffeine, you know, you're feeling uncomfortable in your body, your hormones are off, so you're suffering from PMS, you know, there's it does signal that something is going on.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: You could also be getting joint pain, anxiety, depression.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: When your gut health does off, your your whole health is basically off.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: So it's important to know that that is not fully normal.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Okay, so like I said, if you are chronically bloated, that is a sign that there is something more going on.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: Luckily, my job as a naturopath, medical intuitive, all around, I'm honestly gonna call myself magical because my clients call me magical, um, is to act as a detective to uncover like the root cause of your health issues, right?
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: So after hobbling honestly, hundreds of women now with their bloating, I have found that it's normally caused by the following things that I'm gonna mention in this episode.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: So, number one, biggest cause, I mean, this also goes for men, but like mainly women listen to myself and I help mainly women.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: Oh, I do take male clients on.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: I didn't say that at the beginning of this episode, um, but I have been taking on some male clients.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: So if you've worked with me in the past and you want your husband or boyfriend or partner too, or your brother, whatever, um, I have started seeing male patients.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: So it's not just women, I do see men as well.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: Um, throwing that out there.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: Anyways, so number one problem you're eating gluten.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: So, why is this bad?
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna break it down, but also go back and listen to the gluten episode because I had to do a whole episode on gluten.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: But what happens is when you eat gluten, it causes an increase in zonnulin.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: Zonulin is what makes your gut leaky.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: So, gluten has a protein called gliadin, which causes zonulin to increase in all individuals.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: What does this mean?
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: This means I don't care if you are Joe, Fred, Sally, Amy, Sandra, I don't know, I was about to say Gucci because I wasn't at my Gucci back.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: Gucci, it does the same thing.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: Meaning, if you are quote-unquote celiac intolerant, or if you think it's always so funny when people tell me like gluten doesn't affect me, and then I list off like all the symptoms of leaky gut, and they're like, oh yeah, I have that.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: I'm like, yes, exactly.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: This happens in all individuals.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: Zonyulin increases in all individuals, it does not matter who you are.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: Okay, this is like basic human physiology.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: This is important to understand so that you understand that it's not just celiac.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: Time and time again, this is shown to happen to everyone.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: So as zonnulin levels increase, remember, we eat gluten, zonnulin increases, and then those tight junctions and the seal in your gut diminishes, right?
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: So it basically is like the security guard is out to lunch.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: Zonulin comes like, hey, and it basically lures the security guard away, and then anything can kind of walk through the door, right?
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: These particles get in, and this is bacteria, food.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: So, like, not only are you know bacteria and toxins getting in, but particles of food that are not meant to be in your bloodstream and then leaving your intestine, so avocado and things that are innocuous.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: And basically, what happens is that this triggers the immune system that is adjacent to the GI tract called your GULT or your gut-associated lymphoid tissue to react.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: Now, because the immune system thinks that there are foreign invaders, it basically mounts a war against these particles, and this leads to bloating.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: So, weak gluten, zonulin increases, it lures away the security guards, and your gut becomes leaky.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: So you got all these like open doors that all these things can now pass through.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: This activates your immune system.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: When this activates your immune system, this leads to damaged intestinal cells, the gut gets inflamed, then it gets more permeable, and we get bloated.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: And as the damage continues, also the microvilli that absorb nutrients get damaged, and this leads to nutrient deficiencies, which in turn contributes to more bloating.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: Okay, so that's just number one.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: Number two is the gut bacteria in your small intestine.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: So this is an overgrowth of the harmful organisms like bacteria and yeast, and this is compounded by having a leaky gut.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: So we have the gluten causing the leaky gut, but then we also have this dysbiosis because of this overgrowth of harmful organisms that have happened because of the leaky gut.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: So this allows toxins in, and these toxins are called lipopolysaccharides into your blood.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: This triggers systemic inflammation.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: It also reduces pancreatic enzymes and gastric activity, which means if we do not have enough pancreatic enzymes, and if we reduce gastric activity, plus the fact that we're leaky, we already got like four or five things going on that I've already mentioned just by eating gluten, then we already got more bloating.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: Okay, so we have the reduced pancreatic enzymes, the reduced gastric activity, we have the dysbiosis, you know, leading to the lipopolysaccharides causing inflammation.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: We have the food particles getting into our blood, we have the immune system being activated.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: Okay, these are just this is just gluten alone.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: Guys, we're only on number one of the things that are making you bloat, but we can see how like just this one little thing, and this is every time you eat it.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: This is when people say, Oh, I just have a bite, no, no.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: This happens with a bite.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: This does not happen whether it's a bowl of pasta or a bite of pasta, the same thing happens, right?
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: Okay, so this is number one, you need to be aware of this.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: Number two, you are eating way too fast.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: If you sit down and eat like you are changing tires at a Formula 500 race, is it called Formula 500?
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: I think it's called Formula One.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: Formula One?
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: I don't know, whatever.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: If you sit down and eat like you're changing tires at a Formula One race, there's a good chance you're gonna end up bloated after meals.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: This is not only because you don't start the diet digestion process in the mouth through chewing, but you also swallow more air when you rush.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: So if you tend to scarf down your food, you need to start scheduling in time in your calendar for at least a 30-minute lunch.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: Or if you really don't have time for three meals a day, try intermittent fasting because you only have to make time for like a couple.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: So, so far, a gluten.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: Two, eating way too fast.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: Number three, you are a grazer.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: There are one of the simplest fixes for why you are bloated all the time is because you're snacking all the time.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: Intermittent fasting, if you haven't listened to that episode, I think it's one one or two episodes ago, go back and listen to that.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: I don't know where the snacking culture came from, but when you are constantly eating, you are constantly triggering this huge time and energy intensive process that is digestion.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: Your bodies have to release stomach acid, digestive enzymes, and basically go through this whole mechanical process of breaking down foob, food, food, and absorbing nutrients.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: You guys know what I mean.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: This isn't something that we should be doing a little bit throughout the day all the time.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: So I know it was like a few things like oh, eat five meals a day and keep snacking.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: No, no.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: Eat more, less frequently to minimize bloating, and also take your time and also make sure that the thing you're eating is not gluten.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: Okay, so we need one, two, and number three.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: Let's go into number four.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: Um, let me take a sip of my green juice.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: Number four, you are sleeping and eating at weird times.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: So there are bugs in your gut, like your gut microbiome has its own circadian rhythm.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: So they are constantly cycling between different colonies throughout the day.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: So when you are sleeping, there are certain populations of bacteria that increase that are different from the ones when you are awake and eating.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: So some flourish at night, some flourish in the day.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: So this normal microbiome circadian cycle repeats every day.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: But when we are eating and sleeping at strange times, and you're not maintaining a consistent sleep schedule, this can really impact bloating because you're not being consistent and you're eating and sleeping at weird times that your circadian rhythm shouldn't be having.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: So, for example, like not eating two or three hours before bed, very good idea.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: That's like a perfect example.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: Um eating yeah, sleep.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: I would say like any time that like your body should be like sleeping, you should not be eating if that makes sense.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: So, like the 2 a.m.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: blah blah blah makes sense.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: Your microbiome is meant to sleep and eat at certain times.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: Number five, eating when you are stressed.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: Guys, there's a connection between the gut and the brain.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: You guys know this.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: This is not new information for you.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: If you've been pulling away information, you know the gut and the brain are super connected.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: This means that if your gut is a mess with dysbiosis or leaky gut, there's a good chance you're feeling the effects in your mood, your energy levels, your cognition, but also your bloating.
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: It also means that if you are eating during a work meeting on the go or right after something stressful, you're probably gonna balloon out.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: I know this even happens to me if I'm really stressed out and I don't take the time or I'm trying to like work and eat lunch at the same time, my digestion like goes up.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: It's fairly it's kind of crazy how far it goes out the window that quickly.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: So, why does this happen?
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: Because the way your nervous system is designed, you actually send blood away from the digestive system and towards your extremities when you're stressed.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: So this means that your body is basically abandoning the digestive process when you are stressed out.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: So if this sounds like, you know, this might be you that's causing your broat, you're broat.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: This is causing your bloat, you're gonna want to do breath work and calm your nervous system down before you eat.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: So whether this is like taking five minutes, taking a few deep breaths, even if you were really stressed out, I would suggest like waiting to eat, calming your system down so that you're not super stressed out.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: Oh never, never eat stress.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: And if you are stressed all the time, we have to work on stress.
- 17:41SPEAKER_00: Like you have to either get into one-on-one or get into well-nourished when it opens next month.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: But you cannot be living your body in a stressed-out state because A, you will be blurred all the time.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: That's also gonna mess with your hormones, that's also gonna mess with your sleep, it's gonna mess with everything.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: So if you are really stressed out and you need help, definitely get into either one-on-one or well-nourished.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: We can solve this.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: Um, but start like doing even something like breath work five, ten minutes before you eat, it's going to be huge.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: Okay, the next one, you're going sugar-free.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: So I say this all the time: people are loading up on the sugar-free vanilla syrups at Starbucks or sugar-free this or sugar-free that.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: But the sugar substitutes are sabotaging not only like your blood sugar health, but these fake sugars like the Splendas and the sugar-free this actually perpetuate bloating as they are really hard for the body to digest.
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: Not to mention the fact that these artificial sweeteners make you crave more sugar and like are cancerous-causing, but they actually are really hard for your body to digest.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: So if you're a bloater all the time, check the labels on the food that you're eating and try cutting out like these sugar substitutes for a week or so and see how you feel.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: Okay, the next one is that you actually need more good gut bugs.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: So your gut is an incredibly complex ecosystem filled with all types of microbes, you know, thousands to be honest.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: Um, and they play an important role in digestion.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: Unfortunately, antibiotic use, other medications such as birth control.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: If you guys have not listened to the birth control episode, please, please, please go back and listen to that.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: If you have been on it or on it or know any female in your life, like it is a very like every female needs to know this information.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: So go back and listen to that episode.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: Um but stress, alcohol, environmental toxins, all of these things can reduce the population of good bacteria in your gut and leave you vulnerable to bloating.
- 19:30SPEAKER_00: So not only does all of these things destroy the good bacteria, but it also gives the bad bacteria a chance to thrive, become leaky, etc.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: Um, so you're gonna want to repopulate the gut with good bacteria, but of course, you guys know you have to find the right one for you.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: You cannot take a generic probiotic unless you know what specific strains are needed for you.
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: And if you guys need help with this, again, this is something I do in one-on-one, because you if you were to give yourself, let's take bifidobacterium, for example.
- 19:59SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, let's take bifidobacterium longus.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: Just one of the pod uh not one of the population of bacteria that are commensal in your gut, which means most people have this.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: Let's say you are low, amazing.
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: Your gut would feel better if you were to take a probiotic that's on that.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: But let's say you're actually high in that and you go and take one of these generic probiotics that has a high level of this and you add on more.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: That can actually make you feel worse and throw your gut out of balance.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: You need to have an exact straight um strain breakdown, and the only way to do this is for by measuring your stool.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: So do not take a genetic probiotic, but also you might need more good probiotics if you've been on antibiotics, birth control, high stress, alcohol, um, and all of that.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: So, moving on to number eight, SIBO, which basically stands for small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: And this can be a very like sneaky cause of chronic bloating because in a well-functioning gut, when you are not eating something called the well, sorry, let me go back.
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: When you are not eating the MMC, which is your migrating motor complex, basically pushes gut bacteria down into the large intestines.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: But sometimes this process can fail.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: And in cases of the like a decreased function of the MMC, bacteria that are meant to migrate go up to the small intestine where it doesn't belong.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: And this will affect what you eat, but also the fermenting of food in the wrong area.
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: Now, when this food ferments in the wrong place, this causes gas swelling and contributes to more SIBO.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: So, again, you might want to get this checked out by either someone like me or like a functional medicine doctor.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: So, moving on to number nine food sensitivities, and this is going to include things like beyond gluten.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: So, you guys know that like nobody should be having gluten, okay?
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: But there might be other things that you are sensitive to, like eggs, tomatoes, um, dairy, that can cause that can be hard to digest for you and lead to gas, bloating, stomach pain, fatigue, headache.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Headaches, even sinus congestion, depression, anxiety, all of these things are actually tied to your gut.
- 22:05SPEAKER_00: So you're gonna want to work with someone to figure out what these things are and how to basically eliminate them from your diet and then see what is triggering it so you know you know for a fact.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: If it's tomatoes and you've been eating tomatoes, you had no idea.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: Tomatoes are fairly innocuous for most people, but maybe not for you.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: And so you need to be looking for things that you may not think are like the not beyond just like the gluten, the dairy, and all that kind of stuff.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: There might be more hidden things that are innocuous that you may not know.
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: Does that make sense?
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: Moving on to number 10.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: Um, so let me just do a summary before I get to number 10.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: Um, I think I said there was gonna be 10 things, but I think I have, oh, I have more.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: Maybe I have closer to 15.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: Anyways, so number one, you're eating gluten.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: Number two, eating way too fast.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: Number three, you're a grazer.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: Number four, you're sleeping and eating at weird times.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: Number five, you're eating on your chest.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: Number six, you're eating sugar-free, aspartame garbage.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: Number seven, you need more gut bugs.
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: Eight, you have SIBO.
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: Nine, you have food sensitivity.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: And number ten is fructose.
- 23:09SPEAKER_00: So fructose is high not only in things like high fructose corn syrup, but there are a lot of fruits that are high in fructose.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: This includes bananas, mangoes, all of your high sugar fruits.
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: And what happens is fructose damages the liver by directly increasing blood levels of LPS toxins.
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: This causes fatty liver, um hepatic insulin resistance, but also inflammation inflammation.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: Inflammation, guys.
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: And so this is why high fructose can not only lead to bloating or to weight gains, because it is too much fructose for the body to digest.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: So you are not meant to eat like when I see people putting in like a whole banana on top of like their oatmeal or a whole banana and mango into their smoothie, that is so much sugar, that is so much fructose, that it's going to bloat you like crazy, plus cause insulin resistance, plus lead to weight gain, plus lead to you know fatty liver, etc.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: So you need to be aware of your sugars.
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: Okay, the next one is hormones.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: So PMS is known to cause a bloated stomach and digestive issues.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: It can make you more prone to constipation, bloat retention, especially if your period is especially before your cycle, you have high estrogen.
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: So this is why your bloating can come at like just a certain part of your cycle and not other parts.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: So when it comes to modulating your hormones, you're gonna want to work with someone who A knows what they're doing with hormones, and basically support your liver's enzymatic process in a way that can allow the estrogen to be metabolized out.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: So you also want to avoid xenoestrogens that are in like conventionally raised um produce, meats, um, so always looking for grass-fed beef, always looking for pasteurized chicken, always doing um wild salmon, you know, eliminating plastics, also checking your cleaning supplies, making sure there's no hormone disruptors in there.
- 24:55SPEAKER_00: Go back and listen to the Balancing Hormones podcast, and I give um kind of a lot more tips about how to make sure you're not having anything in your life that's disrupting your hormones more than like is unavoidable.
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: But there are so many things that, like, if you're using, you know, dove or pantene or putting ole on your face, like where those are gonna disrupt your hormones and cause you to be bloated, basically.
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: So if you are struggling with bloating or PMS, I would really suggest having your hormones looked at.
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: Um, get into one-on-one if you need to, or get into well-nourished because you have a one-on-one session with me where we can fix your hormones.
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: Um, but if you are not metabolizing your hormones properly, if you are not eliminating your hormones, you're gonna reabsorb them, especially if you're constipated, if you're reabsorbing estrogen, it's gonna lead to more bloating.
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: And because you're already bloated, then you're constipated, which means you're again not eliminating it, and it basically turns into this vicious cycle.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: So if you find that your bloating gets worse or is only there a couple weeks the month, that means it's probably hormone related, and we need to go in and balance your hormones.
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: Okay, the next one is depression.
- 25:59SPEAKER_00: So I know I talked about this in terms of like when your gut is leaky, then you are more prone to like mental health stuff.
- 26:06SPEAKER_00: I'm just gonna take a sip of my green juice.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: But depression specifically, not only is there a link between low serotonin levels in the gut and depression, which can lead to constipation and bloating, but bloating is also a common side effect of many of the drugs used to treat it.
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: So if you were on an antidepressant, this could actually contribute to your bloating, apart from the fact that also low serotonin levels in the gut can lead to constipation and bloating.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: So it's kind of like a double botany.
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: We're gonna want to solve this, we're gonna want to heal the gut, we're gonna want to raise the serotonin naturally to get the bloating under control.
- 26:43SPEAKER_00: But unfortunately, again, this is another example of the vicious cycle, how like your serotonin's low, which is making you constipated, which is making you bloated, but it's also a side effect of the drug you're using.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: But also, as you the more you are bloated and constipated, you're also reabsorbing, you know, hormones, and it's just one vicious, vicious cycle.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: So you're gonna want to deal with that.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: The next one, what are we on?
- 27:06SPEAKER_00: Figure out uh 10, 11, 12, 13.
- 27:09SPEAKER_00: So reason 13 why you are always bloated is you have not released emotional trauma.
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: I cannot tell you how many times people have come to me where they're like, I'm eating paleo, I don't eat gluten, I don't eat dairy, my diet's clean, I work out, I'm managing stress, whatever, but I'm still bloated all the time.
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: And that's because they're holding on to a lot of emotion stuff.
- 27:29SPEAKER_00: So if you engage in people pleasing and you're bloated, it's a we need to be really sad.
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: If you have trouble setting boundaries and you're bloated, we need to fix that.
- 27:38SPEAKER_00: If you aren't feeling like safe, if you have post like trauma, if you feel unworthy, all of this is stored in your gut.
- 27:46SPEAKER_00: Guilt is stored in your gut, shame is stored in your gut.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: All of these emotions and traumas are stored in your gut and can make you chronically bloated.
- 27:53SPEAKER_00: You can eat the cleanest diet, you can take all the supplements.
- 27:57SPEAKER_00: If you do not heal the emotional stuff, you will never have impeccable gut health and you will always be slightly bloated because that stuff is still manifesting in your body.
- 28:06SPEAKER_00: I cannot tell you how true this is, because I have been there and the supplements in the diet only took me so far.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: It was when I released the emotional stuff that it actually released fully for the first time in my life.
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: Because another thing I'll say is like talk therapy, while it can be great for some, it doesn't actually solve the problem because talk therapy doesn't release it somatically from your body, like you need to somatically release it so that you release the guilt, you release the shame, you release the emotions, you stop the people pleasing, um, you stop, like you start setting boundaries, all of this stuff you need to start doing if you want to actually get rid of the bloating for good.
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: And this is what we do in one-on-one.
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: So if you need help with this, get in, like I said, because it can be difficult to do this alone because you need to get to the root.
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: Okay, okay, why am I engaging people pleasing?
- 28:52SPEAKER_00: Probably fear of rejection, fear of abandonment.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: Okay, why are you feeling rejecting abandonment?
- 28:56SPEAKER_00: Is it childhood thing?
- 28:56SPEAKER_00: Is something to do with your parents?
- 28:57SPEAKER_00: In our child women, so we need to do all this work because, like I said, you can eat the cleanest diet, take all the supplements.
- 29:03SPEAKER_00: If you don't deal with what is going on in your head and your heart, it is never going to stick.
- 29:08SPEAKER_00: So make sure whether it's me or someone else who does um emotional release like me, make sure you are getting rid of these emotions.
- 29:15SPEAKER_00: You're having emotional releases, you're working through all this stuff, okay.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: Number, what is it, 14.
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: You are popping lots of advil and NZ basically.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: So if you pop in Advil to avoid feeling sore, um, or you're popping lots of Advil or aspirin or myol or Tylenol for that time of the month, they are super toxic to the GI tract.
- 29:35SPEAKER_00: Okay, there's like I don't even keep Advil in my house.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: Like, please, after this episode, just take the take the Advil, take all that Tylenol, go take the mydol, throw it out.
- 29:46SPEAKER_00: Because there's so much marketing of those drugs, you know, there's this perception that they're benign.
- 29:50SPEAKER_00: They are not, they are super toxic and are gonna make you bloated, destroy your gut health.
- 29:54SPEAKER_00: No, no.
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: You want to opt for holistic options.
- 29:57SPEAKER_00: Um, and again, like depending on what you are taking them for, work with someone to find you know a natural option that targets, you know, whether it's um whether you're taking it for like cramping for PMS, we can prescribe one thing for that.
- 30:08SPEAKER_00: If you're taking it for sore muscles, we can prescribe something else for that.
- 30:12SPEAKER_00: That does not have side effects, and that's not gonna destroy not only your gut, but it this also influences your liver.
- 30:18SPEAKER_00: And if your liver is overburdened with something like you know, NSAIDs, plus you're on birth control, plus you know, you're reabsorbing estrogen, you can see how like your liver is getting overburdened by like four different things that I mentioned this episode, and no wonder you're bloated, right?
- 30:31SPEAKER_00: Okay, so ditch the NSAIDs.
- 30:34SPEAKER_00: And then the last thing I want to mention are sitting all day.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: So sitting all day can be a major cause of bloating since it causes your GI to basically move at a glacial pace.
- 30:43SPEAKER_00: So a lot of people I see, you know, you might be sitting at your desk for 12, 14 hours in a row, five days a week, um, and then even sitting even more in the evening, and that's horrible for the gut because you are meant to move.
- 30:55SPEAKER_00: So, you know, taking five, ten minutes, you know, every hour to just move, maybe move and then get a glass of water, or you know, to take a block, you know, take a walk around the block, or call a friend and take a walk, you know, adding in little bits of movement, even stretching and getting up and just moving your body slightly every hour is going to help versus you just sitting there so many hours a day.
- 31:15SPEAKER_00: You know, even now a lot of us are working from home, you don't even have the commute to move you move you.
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: So if you were walking to work or whatever you were doing to work, you're not only having that now.
- 31:22SPEAKER_00: So sitting all day is going to be horrible for your digestion.
- 31:25SPEAKER_00: You need to get it moving.
- 31:26SPEAKER_00: You know, that's why you know people tend to take walks after dinner, right?
- 31:30SPEAKER_00: Because it helps digestion.
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: Same type of thing.
- 31:32SPEAKER_00: Um, you want to wait like 20 minutes after you eat to do the walk, but either way, that's you know one of the reasons why it's so helpful is because when you are sitting, it can really slow digestion.
- 31:53SPEAKER_00: Okay, guys.
- 31:55SPEAKER_00: I hope you enjoyed this episode of the podcast and hope you get it gave you some insight as to why you are below it all the time.
- 32:02SPEAKER_00: Like I said, if you need help or you want to like release your emotional stuff and all that, get into one-on-one or get into well-nourished when it opens in May.
