- 0:07Speaker 1: This is Edgar Delgado. Just seconds ago he fatally shot
- 0:12an innocent man.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Were you with what happened?
- 0:17Speaker 3: I don't know who is the man who's shot. Can
- 0:21you tell me the name so I know if it's him?
- 0:22Speaker 4: And I don't know.
- 0:24Speaker 5: I was with Omar and the one that was shooting.
- 0:27Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 0:31Speaker 5: He has beard, his light skinned. He's a Mexican.
- 0:35Speaker 7: What was he wearing last night?
- 0:37Speaker 5: I don't know the shirt, but he's were shut when
- 0:44we were save reports of a shooting at Hard Rock.
- 0:46Speaker 8: Catino and at Lake Tahoe.
- 0:48Speaker 5: One is reported and the shooter is.
- 0:50Speaker 8: Ard and size the building. Jenny Allienon miss received an essay.
- 1:10Speaker 7: He got some informations in the stiff that constantly less
- 1:13in a white putt a forerunner with an histenic atal
- 1:16adult about Senegal.
- 1:21Speaker 4: Did you know that guy?
- 1:23Speaker 9: Did?
- 1:24Speaker 4: I just remember? We're talking for like a while, you know,
- 1:26and then that's it.
- 1:27Speaker 1: At two am on March twenty fifth, twenty twenty three,
- 1:31Edgar Delgado enters Hard Rock Casino and meets thirty two
- 1:34year old Omar Garcia, where they spend the next six
- 1:37hours together drinking and having a good time. But by
- 1:42eight am, something begins to anger Edgar. The tension rises,
- 1:47an argument bursts out, and Edgar grabs Garcia. Worst of all,
- 1:51he pulls out a pistol and points it directly at
- 1:54Garcia's head multiple times, but Garcia resists, knowing his life
- 1:59could end at any time, and physical altercations ensue. Then,
- 2:03for one last time, Edgar grabs Garcia by the neck
- 2:06and whispers something in his ear to the extent that
- 2:10Garcia stops resisting. Desperately. Garcia tries to disengage, knowing that
- 2:15this fight is not worth his life, but Edgar sees
- 2:18his chance and pulls out his gun before Garcia even
- 2:21has a moment to react, and seconds later, a single
- 2:27gunshot rings throughout the Hard Rock Casino. Garcia had little
- 2:31to no chance of survival. He was shot directly in
- 2:34the temple, and every passing second meant a step closer
- 2:38to death. Soon after, panic erupted in the hotel, Employees
- 2:42and residents scrambled to get a hold of authorities as
- 2:44dozens of nine to one one calls began pouring in. Immediately,
- 2:49a team of one hundred officers was put together from
- 2:52multiple police departments and sent to the Hard Rock casino
- 2:55and hotel.
- 2:57Speaker 5: Okay, going to South Sera.
- 3:00Speaker 10: Let's go go if we were heading this.
- 3:02Speaker 5: Fluck there well.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Now important to note is the facts that officers have
- 3:14almost no information on the situation itself. All I know
- 3:18is that there was a shooting and now there is
- 3:20a man lying dead in front of the bar. They
- 3:22also know that the Hard Rock Casino is a massive
- 3:25complex with over six hundred and seventy rooms, and that
- 3:28gunman could be hiding anywhere. Cool for me, it's no
- 3:34ony man.
- 3:41Speaker 11: Keen.
- 3:43Speaker 10: Brian's gonna take a second floor because the stairwells on
- 3:45the outside.
- 3:46Speaker 7: Brian's taking us right in her second floor.
- 3:48Speaker 5: We'll hit our stairwells up to.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Bryan and inactive shooting officers always need to establish control
- 4:01over the situation the moment they arrive on the scene.
- 4:04That's why this team immediately moves in to secure the
- 4:07stairwells because they lack security and connect to several parts
- 4:10of the building, which provides an easy escape route for
- 4:13the shooter. With that said, the shooter's identity is still
- 4:16unknown and the officers need to treat everyone they encounter
- 4:19as a potential threat until confirmed. Otherwise, where after quickly
- 4:48confirming that these are innocent civilians and not the shooter.
- 4:51Officers can now move towards evacuating them.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Up there, Hey guys to coming out, to coming out,
- 5:06keep your hands up all the way down.
- 5:10Speaker 7: All the way down.
- 5:11Speaker 2: That's up.
- 5:13Speaker 10: Thanks for someone.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Well.
- 5:21Speaker 1: This team is clearing this part of the stairwells. Another
- 5:24team on the casino floor works on securing the crime
- 5:26scene and providing life saving assistance to the victim.
- 5:31Speaker 7: No, I'm not, I ended up.
- 5:37Speaker 12: Yeah, you want to see all The emergency services were
- 5:45quick to respond and Garcia was transported out quickly.
- 5:48Speaker 1: It was far too late to save him. He was
- 5:51pronounced dead within minutes. The worst of all, the killer
- 5:55was still on the loose, and every second wasted meant
- 5:57that officers were further away from catching him and more
- 6:00innocent lives were in danger. That is why the team
- 6:03on the casino floor immediately starts gathering witness statements to
- 6:06try and figure out exactly what happened. The first was
- 6:09someone who was able to get a closer look at
- 6:11the crime scene immediately after Garcia was shot.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Was that the only.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Showcasing you found that was spent, No spend one right
- 6:18here next to this.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Like that that's the only spent. So the word was
- 6:27that they were struggling.
- 6:29Speaker 13: Yeah, I had been holding an army app and then
- 6:31I guess got to bring out one shot.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Where do you wy? I think the guys don't like it.
- 6:36Speaker 7: Where was he hit in the stomach?
- 6:39Speaker 8: Was in the head.
- 6:42Speaker 1: The next witness was a girl that Omar was on
- 6:44a date with just hours before the murder.
- 6:47Speaker 4: Hello, were you with?
- 6:49Speaker 6: What happened?
- 6:49Speaker 3: I don't know who is the man who's shot? Can
- 6:53you tell me the name so I know if it's
- 6:54him or not?
- 6:55Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 6:55Speaker 5: Okay, I was with Omar and Omar the one that
- 6:59was shooting. What happened? What happened was I came in
- 7:03here after my word was a man named Omar?
- 7:15Speaker 4: What's up?
- 7:17Speaker 5: I just met him last week, two weeks ago. I
- 7:21just met him. But I know he's like close contact
- 7:23with a lot of people in town. I know that
- 7:25he's very important in town as a as a person,
- 7:29you know what I mean? Like everyone loves him. He
- 7:33has beard, he's light skinned, he's Mexican.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Was he?
- 7:38Speaker 5: I don't know this shirt, but he's wearing a hat,
- 7:41a backwards hat or black.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Even though this girl was praying that it wasn't who
- 7:48she thought, she does not know yet that it was
- 7:51in fact Omar who was shot and has even passed away.
- 7:55Although tragic officers cannot spend any time on grievances, they
- 8:00have no clue what the killer looks like, what his
- 8:03escape plan is, and who he could possibly harm. Next,
- 8:06this is where they begin executing the last step of
- 8:09their response, chasing the shooter down, which begins with multiple
- 8:13SWAT teams initiating a wide search of the entire building,
- 8:16checking every hall and every corner.
- 8:22Speaker 14: All right, okay, keep pushing.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Chooser too. We will be on the fortnight.
- 8:49Speaker 6: Doc.
- 8:51Speaker 2: I'm going ahead, show your head.
- 8:53Speaker 5: Cry.
- 8:55Speaker 2: I've been crying.
- 8:56Speaker 5: Around hispanic guy beard, gray shirt.
- 9:00Speaker 7: Right there, Thank god here call you step over here, okay,
- 9:07step behind. That's the other where that happened when I ran.
- 9:13Speaker 4: In the saw guy on the floor.
- 9:14Speaker 7: Okay, God, hey, listen to me. Hey, both you He's
- 9:20in a hotel somewhere one of the time.
- 9:22Speaker 2: That's why restate.
- 9:22Speaker 7: Okay, you guys need to get into the stairwell.
- 9:24Speaker 11: Okay, let's stay.
- 9:27Speaker 6: Shriff's August come out now? Is your hands come out?
- 9:34We thought it was our kids. Our kids are in
- 9:36a couple of rooms sunless.
- 9:38Speaker 7: I mean, you guys need to stay in this room.
- 9:39Speaker 5: Don't come out for any reason. Okay, okay, keep do
- 9:43not come out.
- 9:45Speaker 7: There's an active shooter right now.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Stay in the room.
- 9:48Speaker 1: At this point in time, officers do not have access
- 9:50to any of the CCTV footage, and it is difficult
- 9:52for them to find out who exactly the man is,
- 9:55let alone where he went. But getting their hands on
- 9:58this footage should only be a question of time.
- 10:00Speaker 6: Time.
- 10:00Speaker 1: The security of casinos are often incredibly high, designed to
- 10:03quickly de escalate dangerous situations like this, as we will
- 10:07come to see later in this video. The reason for
- 10:09this is part because of a shooting that happened back
- 10:12in Las Vegas in twenty seventeen. Due to the failure
- 10:15of that casino hotel security, they were forced to pay
- 10:18out over eight hundred million to the victims of the shooting,
- 10:21ensuring that security would be increased on all casino hotels
- 10:25much like this one. Actually, it's very common for hotels, casinos,
- 10:29or other companies to be forced to pay out settlements
- 10:32like this. That's why I partnered with Morgan and Morgan
- 10:35the company that fought for many of the victims of
- 10:37the twenty seventeen shooting, helping them win over eight hundred
- 10:40million dollars. You're seriously hurt, your injury could be worth millions.
- 10:44With over one thousand attorneys, Morgan and Morgan will fight
- 10:47to give you the best results, and unless you win,
- 10:50they do it all for free. In just the past
- 10:52few months, Morgan and Morgan has helped hundreds of people.
- 10:55One car crash victim in Florida one a verdict worth
- 10:58twelve million dollars, another in Philadelphia twenty six million dollars
- 11:03that was forty times more than their insurance offered. So
- 11:06if you ever get seriously injured, your case could be
- 11:08worth millions and it takes only a few minutes to
- 11:11see if you have a case. You can start your
- 11:13claim with Morgan and Morgan by visiting www. Dot for
- 11:16the people dot com slash insanity found in the description
- 11:21with that said. Police at hard Rock Cafe received intel
- 11:24that the suspect likely fled into one of the five
- 11:26apartments nearby on the first and second floor. Fortunately, this
- 11:29team you've just saw cleared out the stairs and hallways,
- 11:32meaning more teams can rush into these apartments and look
- 11:35for the suspect.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Your's office over the door, show your hands he brands
- 11:40up there, we had a shooting downstairs. And make sure
- 11:43who's in here and who's not? Okay, good, step right here,
- 11:46brands up?
- 11:48Speaker 11: Did you do that for me?
- 11:56Speaker 8: Y cler?
- 11:56Speaker 7: Need to stands out?
- 11:58Speaker 4: Clear?
- 12:00Speaker 5: Well?
- 12:00Speaker 7: I got this one him shriff off as everybody get
- 12:02in here? How many people for? Are y'all here?
- 12:06Speaker 4: Okay?
- 12:06Speaker 5: Can we just check make sure every he's okay, nobody's hid?
- 12:08Speaker 7: Awesome, Thank you ladies, what a day?
- 12:12Speaker 15: Huh?
- 12:12Speaker 11: Thank you guys.
- 12:18Speaker 6: All right, unlocky.
- 12:26Speaker 7: Yeah, unlock the door, open it slowly with your hands up.
- 12:31Speaker 2: There.
- 12:31Speaker 7: Youre no clothes alright, So where do you take him on?
- 12:35Speaker 11: Just coming out?
- 12:37Speaker 6: Some pants?
- 12:37Speaker 8: Okay?
- 12:38Speaker 7: Anybody else in.
- 12:41Speaker 2: The stand and I asked that's going on?
- 12:49Speaker 10: Holy am I okay to check out?
- 13:00Speaker 2: Just go on the ruin head and tire.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Although the Fourth Amendment bars officers from warrantless searches under
- 13:04most circumstances, this scenario is an exception, as it is
- 13:08classified as an exigent circumstance. Exigent circumstances exist in situations
- 13:13where people are in imminent danger, where evidence faces imminent
- 13:16destruction or prior to us suspects imminent escape, much like
- 13:20in this active shooting. But even with this privilege, officers
- 13:23need to pick up their pays because only two of
- 13:26the five apartments on this floor have been searched, and
- 13:28the killer could be in any one of them.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Serriff's office, he's your hands.
- 13:38Speaker 4: Anyone else in there with you or no? Just you?
- 13:41Is anybody hurting hurt?
- 13:42Speaker 16: Now?
- 13:42Speaker 11: No?
- 13:43Speaker 4: Ok we got walk and stay in your room. We've
- 13:48got to make sure that we're gonna make sure everybody's hurt.
- 13:50Speaker 2: It here, all right, Thank you, yours alt us.
- 14:02Speaker 5: Open the door.
- 14:05Speaker 17: Okay, we'll see your hands. Open the door on your hands,
- 14:12thank you, open door, Oh ship, Who else is inside?
- 14:16Speaker 15: My son.
- 14:19Speaker 4: Claire?
- 14:20Speaker 2: We had a shooting incident at the host mission her
- 14:26hands up?
- 14:29Speaker 8: You guys all right?
- 14:31Speaker 4: How many are in here?
- 14:32Speaker 11: Just two of you?
- 14:33Speaker 9: Just okay?
- 14:34Speaker 4: Everybody's accounted for, yes, sir.
- 14:38Speaker 11: Moving.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Even with such extensive man power, SWAT is having a
- 14:42difficult time tracking down the killer. But they had one
- 14:44more apartment left, and the individual that came face to
- 14:47face with was someone who could very well be the killer.
- 14:52Speaker 7: Sir, open the door, Open the door.
- 14:57Speaker 18: I'm gonna break the door down the Okay, we're on
- 15:00a shooting or checking for people, So.
- 15:02Speaker 7: Please open the door.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Sense in the shower right now? Okay, open the door.
- 15:06Speaker 4: You're not going in the shower.
- 15:09Speaker 7: Going to open the door, please?
- 15:11Speaker 2: What do you want to do.
- 15:14Speaker 19: To make sure everyone is okay? Okay, yes, yes, it's on.
- 15:20Speaker 10: It's on.
- 15:21Speaker 19: So I need you to open the door, sir. But
- 15:23if you're coming with walk here like I've been sleeping.
- 15:27Speaker 7: Okay, my god, it's down man, it folstered.
- 15:29Speaker 5: Okay.
- 15:29Speaker 18: I just need to open the door so I could
- 15:30talk to your hair and I make sure everyone's okay.
- 15:32That's inside of the room. Okay, we had an active
- 15:34shooter on the casino floor.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Everyone's okay in here, okay.
- 15:37Speaker 7: I need you to open the door so we can
- 15:39make sure.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Are you looking for somebody?
- 15:43Speaker 11: Sir?
- 15:43Speaker 7: I'm really trying not to make it difficult.
- 15:44Speaker 4: I'm not trying to make it.
- 15:46Speaker 7: You are making it difficult. All he needs you to
- 15:47open the door right here.
- 15:48Speaker 2: You're not going to break down that.
- 15:49Speaker 7: I'm not gonna break down the door. I just need
- 15:51you to open this door.
- 15:52Speaker 4: You're not You're not going in there when you make
- 15:53it to the shower.
- 15:54Speaker 7: I'm not going in the shower.
- 15:55Speaker 2: I just need to open this door.
- 15:56Speaker 4: Why do you need to open this door?
- 15:58Speaker 2: You're not telling me much you have. We don't know.
- 16:03Speaker 7: We had an active shooter on the floor, so we
- 16:05don't know.
- 16:06Speaker 20: We're checking every single room right so far out of
- 16:09all the casinos, out of every room.
- 16:11Speaker 7: Guess that we've meant to You're the only one that's
- 16:12not opening the door.
- 16:13Speaker 2: You have a problem with God's that coming in.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Refusing to cooperate in an active shooter situation is one
- 16:19of the worst decisions this man could have taken. To
- 16:22make things worse, he mentions the presence of someone else
- 16:25in the apartment. This is why officers have to be
- 16:27incredibly careful in dealing with the situation, because, for all
- 16:30they know, behind this door could be someone ready to
- 16:33shoot at them.
- 16:35Speaker 20: Oh wait, if you only wait, tre sung inside the
- 16:37shower so I could talk to him, Thank you, sir.
- 16:43Speaker 4: You're not coming in though, and breaking down the door
- 16:46to get going.
- 16:46Speaker 7: I'm not going to break down the door to go
- 16:48into the shower.
- 16:48Speaker 4: Yeah, my kid, he's in the shower.
- 16:50Speaker 2: There's no reason for it. I've told you four times
- 16:52we're just checking the room to make sure no one's
- 16:54in the.
- 16:54Speaker 5: Other the gun.
- 16:55Speaker 7: Just let him through.
- 16:55Speaker 2: This guy's got a gun. Yeah, and case there's another
- 16:58guy in the room with one. Please put the gun down.
- 17:01It's down, sir. Okay, it was quitted at me. It's
- 17:04not down. Okay. Do you have ID sir? I do
- 17:09have idea?
- 17:09Speaker 8: I don't.
- 17:12Speaker 7: Okay, who else besides you and your son? Who else
- 17:15is here?
- 17:15Speaker 2: Nobody's here?
- 17:17Speaker 11: Okay?
- 17:18Speaker 7: Can I come in and look on the other side
- 17:19of that bad over there?
- 17:20Speaker 2: Yes, you can come in.
- 17:21Speaker 9: Look.
- 17:22Speaker 11: Thank you.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Fortunately, the apartment seemed relatively safe for officers to enter,
- 17:27but the suspect's behavior causes them to think that he
- 17:29might have been in contact with the shooter and need
- 17:32to interview both him and his son.
- 17:34Speaker 7: And you are the only two that are in the room.
- 17:36Speaker 2: We already all get two that are in the room.
- 17:37I'll want to wait right here.
- 17:38Speaker 20: Can you ask your son to maybe your soft shower
- 17:41put on twas stick his head out. It's like a
- 17:42verified he's okay, Yeah, hi doing sir, good good. I'm
- 17:48starting to stircle the Sheriff's office. Sorry for the rude awakening.
- 17:52We had an act shooter on the casino force or
- 17:54we're going run the room. Make sure everyone's okay. No
- 17:55one I'm shot is no one has tried to come in.
- 17:57Get in your room, okay, Hostly, you just saw.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Heavy Heavy apprehended the suspect that I do not know yet,
- 18:09So now you'll leave it or not.
- 18:11Speaker 7: So we're asking people to shelter in place right now.
- 18:14Speaker 20: We're fairly pretty close to being done, so I say,
- 18:16give about a half hour call down to front desk
- 18:18and ask it's okay to come on out.
- 18:20Speaker 1: A Shelter in place is an emergency protocol deployed to
- 18:23protect citizens in case of an emergency. By staying put
- 18:26in safe places like their apartments, any threats are deterred
- 18:29from being able to harm individuals for now. Though, this
- 18:32man showed no proof of being affiliated with the shooting,
- 18:35so officers decide to move on. But even with the
- 18:38five apartments searched, there was no sign of the killer.
- 18:41The only option officers had left was to begin searching
- 18:44even more rooms on the higher floors, but this would
- 18:47cost them precious time, time that they did not have.
- 18:50This is why they turned to the hotel. CCTV footage
- 18:52in hopes of getting a lead on who the man
- 18:54is and most importantly, where he ran off.
- 18:57Speaker 6: Took upstairs. I'm taking her upstairs to look at the carrol.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Fortunately, this proves to be a big breakthrough in the case,
- 19:08as officers soon find footage of the man running off
- 19:11from the crime scene. Officers had finally had an image
- 19:14of what the suspect looked like, and it was soon
- 19:16sent to every single team in the hotel, and not
- 19:19even minutes later, officers get a lead a man in
- 19:22the lobby who matches the image exactly.
- 19:34Speaker 7: Put your hand up, you mean you mean, you mean.
- 19:43Speaker 6: Away?
- 19:44Speaker 2: You got him? Where do you come from? What room?
- 20:03Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 20:03Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't know. Oh here covered down.
- 20:08Speaker 6: Look at this.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Yeh, cop.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Cross referencing the image to the suspects. The two are
- 20:26almost an exact match. However, officers are still not entirely
- 20:30certain and need to have a closer look before taking
- 20:33the next step and arresting him.
- 20:35Speaker 5: Sure, and take off.
- 20:39Speaker 6: He take his cap off, took his right and Lucy's
- 21:07running out.
- 21:14Speaker 2: What we're looking for?
- 21:14Speaker 6: Buddy dude's got similar.
- 21:17Speaker 4: So that's why.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Unfortunately this turned out to be a dead end. This
- 21:25was not the man that the officers were looking for,
- 21:28and the frustration clearly began to grow.
- 21:30Speaker 4: Did you were you out? We were at the restaurant.
- 21:36Speaker 7: I didn't want to say to the are surveillans?
- 21:37Speaker 6: Guys did not know any about this?
- 21:39Speaker 7: When I went up there for zero, I gave.
- 21:41Speaker 6: Them a picture when I went up there the south
- 21:43side was.
- 21:44Speaker 8: The guy right now?
- 21:46Speaker 4: That's what.
- 21:48Speaker 11: That was.
- 21:48Speaker 6: That was ten fifteen ago.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Yeah, okay.
- 22:01Speaker 1: It is around this time that officers make a crucial
- 22:04breakthrough in the case. By digging deeper into CCTV and
- 22:07tracking back the shooter's movements, they discovered that their man
- 22:10is not a visitor, but a tenant named Edgar Julian Delgado,
- 22:14who checked into the hotel the day before with his girlfriend,
- 22:18Savannah Tatapalle. Right after the murder, Edgar is seen rushing
- 22:22to his room and coming out with a handful of bags.
- 22:25Savannah soon joins him and the exit the hotel. Edgar,
- 22:28along with his girlfriend, were now on the run. Despite
- 22:32the fast response from police, Edgar was able to escape
- 22:36because no one had a description of the suspect yet,
- 22:39and as we would later see, he even had a
- 22:41close call with an officer before he escaped. Immediately after
- 22:45finding out Edgar had escaped, all roads and highways in
- 22:48the state were placed under heavy monitoring. They were not
- 22:51going to let a murderer escape, and while they waited
- 22:53for Edgar to fall into their hands, they began interviewing
- 22:56hotel employees to understand the motives behind this murder. Star
- 23:00with a security guard who was present at the time
- 23:02of the murder, Robert Bells, and as he and.
- 23:05Speaker 21: I were finishing the cigarettes, were heard a loud boom
- 23:09like a shot. Within ten seconds, the dispatcher, who was
- 23:13Santos Nunaz, said someone has been shot at Center Bar.
- 23:17Speaker 7: Did he read that information over the radio? We laid
- 23:19that information over the radio. I heard the information.
- 23:24Speaker 21: I stepped into the center hallway and proceeded down towards
- 23:29the Center bar.
- 23:32Speaker 4: When I saw.
- 23:35Speaker 7: Rather large man about six foot six' one walking in my.
- 23:40Speaker 21: Direction my thought was that this is a guy who
- 23:44just shot someone at the, bar because he seemed a
- 23:47little agitated, walking.
- 23:49Speaker 4: SO i immediately turned.
- 23:50Speaker 21: AROUND i stayed far away enough till he exited to the,
- 23:55left going towards security.
- 23:57Speaker 7: Podium that's WHEN i walked. OUT i had overheard earlier
- 24:01the traffic that a.
- 24:03Speaker 21: Gunshot somebody had been shot at the, bar and that's
- 24:05WHEN i walked over AND i saw.
- 24:09Speaker 7: A man laying there in a pool of blood at the.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Bar from What roberts, says the killing itself was quite
- 24:14a big scene at The center, Bar yet the response
- 24:17was so slow That edgar was not only given the
- 24:19time to, escape but pack his belongings before doing. So
- 24:22to make matters, Worse edgar actually walked in front of
- 24:25the security, podium the point at which the entirety of
- 24:28the casino security cameras were managed by. Guards security likely
- 24:32decided that pursuing an armed, suspect especially one responsible for a,
- 24:36shooting was not a wise decision to, make and rather
- 24:39opted to keep tabs on his. Whereabouts, regardless it is
- 24:42unfortunate That edgar was given enough time to escape. Comfortably
- 24:46at this. Point officers move on to the next, Employee,
- 24:49noble who gives more insight into what the two were
- 24:51talking about Before edgar pulled a.
- 24:53Speaker 22: Gun did were you able to hear what kind of
- 24:55conversations they were? Having what they were talking? About not,
- 24:59EXACT i wasn't really. Processing it was still kind of
- 25:02early for me as kind of background noise to.
- 25:04Speaker 23: Me but, okay you, know, now, well as they're being,
- 25:09loud was it a loud? Argument were they just being loud, laughing?
- 25:13Joking it seemed.
- 25:15Speaker 2: More like just kind of tough buddy. STUFF i guess.
- 25:20Speaker 11: More.
- 25:21Speaker 2: JOKING i would think.
- 25:23Speaker 7: In what way would describe it that stuff like they
- 25:26did Mention they weren't starting it, like, oh, joking LIKE
- 25:29i could take your.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Ass, no you you, KNOW i know you can't type. Thing,
- 25:32Okay and that's when, yeah they you, know they started
- 25:38just scruffling up a little.
- 25:39Speaker 4: Bit do you remember if who told? Who who initiated
- 25:42that type of?
- 25:42Speaker 22: Conversation?
- 25:43Speaker 11: Uh, NO i can say for.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Sure friendly banter turning into a murder is something highly.
- 25:50Unusual there is a crucial piece of the, puzzle but
- 25:53detectives are missing out on and the only person who
- 25:56can give it to them Is edgar. Himself in order
- 26:00to catch, him officers have to be. Patient they already
- 26:03know what his car looks like from THE cctv, footage
- 26:06and checkpoints have been set up on all roads leading
- 26:08to The Hard Rock. Casino this meant that it was
- 26:11only a matter of time Before edgar fell into their,
- 26:14hands and sure, enough hours, Later edgar's vehicle would approach
- 26:18one of these checkpoints Near highway. Fifty there was no escaping,
- 26:22anymore and officers could finally get the answers they've been
- 26:26so desperately searching.
- 26:27Speaker 10: For turn around from The.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Edgar no towards, Me.
- 26:36Speaker 6: Edgar my name Is Steve.
- 26:37Speaker 7: Schultz, yeah it's nice to meet.
- 26:39Speaker 4: You what's your last? Name edgardo Del? Gado Diado Gayardo.
- 26:44Speaker 7: Yadda is my maiden.
- 26:46Speaker 4: Name So i'll go by a bit.
- 26:47Speaker 13: Too, much so you go By Edgar, delado got, It.
- 26:51Edgar i'm gonna want to talk to you back here
- 26:54in the town Of South.
- 26:55Speaker 4: Lake, okay that's.
- 26:56Speaker 13: Fun so The sheriff's department here is going to bring
- 27:01you back so that we might be able to talk to.

- 27:14Speaker 13: SAVANNAH i, Understand, okay So i'd like to meet with.
- 27:17You i'm just going to have my partner take a
- 27:19couple of photographs of.
- 27:20Speaker 2: You where did?
- 27:22Speaker 24: Burger?
- 27:24Speaker 4: Burger isn't a matter CONFUTION i.
- 27:26Speaker 7: Am A nevada.
- 27:26Speaker 13: Detective So i'm from the state Of nevada where the casinos. Are,
- 27:30yeah you're being held In california by The california by
- 27:36The Eldorado County Sheriff's.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Office even Though edgar was arrested In, california he'll still
- 27:40be charged Under nevada law because that's where the crime took.
- 27:43Place in, Fact california police will need to Send edgar
- 27:47back To nevada through a process called. Extradition this is
- 27:50required by The Extradition clause In article four of THE Us,
- 27:54constitution which states that if someone commits a crime in
- 27:57one state and flees to, another they must be returned
- 27:59to the date where the crime occouraged to face. Trial
- 28:02this ensures That edgar has tried based on laws of
- 28:05the state where the crime, happened and In, nevada first
- 28:08degree murder results in either life without parole or fifty
- 28:12years with the possibility of parole after Twenty, NOW.

- 28:34Speaker 7: Right y, Okay i'm, good all, Right i'm good for.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Enough it is chilling to See edgar act so nonchalant
- 28:40after taking the life of someone who wished to be
- 28:42friends with, him but this explains several Of edgar's, mannerisms
- 28:48the slurred, speech the lack of, understanding his stumbling while
- 28:51escaping from the, casino and most, importantly his sudden impulse
- 28:56to Shoot. Garcia although aggression to this extent stems from
- 29:00an individual's personal, decisions alcohol can often act as a.
- 29:04Catalyst according to THE nih AND, who alcohol is the
- 29:08most commonly associated drug with aggression compared to others that
- 29:12affect body. Function this means That garcia was murdered at
- 29:16the whims of a twisted, drunkard And edgar needs to
- 29:20give them. Answers but before an interview proceeds with, him
- 29:23detectives decide to interrogate his, Girlfriend savannah in order to
- 29:27Understand edgar as a, person possibly giving them invaluable evidence
- 29:31to charge.
- 29:32Speaker 4: Him with.
- 29:33Speaker 5: Murder, Hi, savannah.
- 29:36Speaker 10: My name Is Lady jenkins is my last. Name nice
- 29:39to meet you as. Well i'm a detective With Lucia
- 29:43Sheriff's office on The novata. SIDE i would like to
- 29:46talk to.
- 29:47Speaker 15: You about what happened over at the Hard rock that
- 29:50kind of led up to you be in contacted By
- 29:53Alorado County Sheriff's, office and the time that you arrived
- 29:56In tahoe until the time you Left, tahoe and tell
- 29:58me everything that happened from the beginning to the middle
- 30:00to the end in as much detail as you.
- 30:02Speaker 10: Can so we got, here we went straight to the.
- 30:04Speaker 16: Hartroom we, parked and the time we walked in checked in.
- 30:10Speaker 10: Moved but after we checked, in we went and we
- 30:13parked in the.
- 30:13Speaker 16: Parking, garage and then we went to our. Hotel we
- 30:17went up to the hotel, room and then.
- 30:20Speaker 9: We went down to the casino area and we had
- 30:23a few, drinks and THEN i was not feeling, well
- 30:26so we went back up to the room AND i was,
- 30:28peaking and then he. Left he said he was gonna
- 30:32be back in thirty, minutes and THEN i fell asleep
- 30:34on the back of.
- 30:35Speaker 10: Fork, okay.
- 30:37Speaker 11: And THEN i woke up to him calling me, saying let's,
- 30:41go we need to, leave AND i kept asking him what,
- 30:44happened and he just he just kept saying let's. GO
- 30:49i was getting.
- 30:51Speaker 16: FRUSTRATED i was like. Why i'm, Like i'm hung, Over
- 30:53i'm want to say what's going?
- 30:54Speaker 11: On and he just kept, saying over and, over let's,
- 30:59go let's, go let's. Go AND i assumed that he
- 31:01had been gambling and he lost money and he was,
- 31:04mad and so we grabbed our stuff and when we
- 31:10walked to the, car and that's when we saw cops pulling,
- 31:13up and the cops told us is that there's someone
- 31:16with a gun or someone got. Shot and then he turned,
- 31:19around faced, them put his hands up AND i looked at.
- 31:23Speaker 6: HIM i was, like what are you?
- 31:23Speaker 11: Doing and THEN i just, said, babe let's. Go they
- 31:27just said someone has a, gun let's, go and so
- 31:30we went to the.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Car it is likely That savannah genuinely did not know
- 31:33why she was being rushed to leave in the heat
- 31:35of the. Moment, unfortunately due To edgar's horrible, decisions she
- 31:39is now an accomplice in her boyfriend's, Escape so either
- 31:43she tries to defend him and risk being charged as
- 31:46an accomplice in, murder or fess up and answer every question,
- 31:50honestly especially the ones about his.
- 31:53Speaker 6: Past how did you Meet?
- 31:54Speaker 10: Edgar how do you?
- 31:55Speaker 24: Know we went to high school, together but we didn't
- 31:59we were never really talk to high. School and then
- 32:01HE'S i started working of our and he is my.
- 32:06Speaker 15: Boss, okay it's your.
- 32:07Speaker 9: Boss.
- 32:08Speaker 10: Okay what do you know about him and his history
- 32:10before meeting?
- 32:11Speaker 11: You?
- 32:13Speaker 10: Nothing, OKAY i don'itely know anything that we went to
- 32:15school to.
- 32:16Speaker 11: Do?
- 32:16Speaker 10: Okay do you know anything About?
- 32:18Speaker 15: Edgar his, wife things he may or may not have
- 32:20done in between when you knew him in high school
- 32:22and then when you knew him as your.
- 32:23Speaker 10: Boss at the Red.
- 32:24Speaker 24: Room?
- 32:25Speaker 10: Okay have you guys had you? Know some couples don't
- 32:28really have the this is my history?
- 32:31Speaker 21: Talk some do you have not had that?
- 32:34Speaker 1: Talk okay for, Now the detective believes That savannah isn't
- 32:38comfortable enough to reveal details and decides to take an
- 32:42alternative Approach by explaining the trouble she's in and mounting some,
- 32:45pressure there is a chance that crucial information can be
- 32:49squeezed out of.
- 32:50Speaker 10: Her you have to understand that.
- 32:53Speaker 15: When you know somebody has done something illegal or or
- 32:57have a suspicion of. It where they are you that,
- 33:00hint and then if you help them, escape that's a.
- 33:03Crime so ify driving him away from the.
- 33:05Speaker 10: Scene you put yourself in a really bad. Spot, okay
- 33:08help me help, you, RIGHT i need to know. Everything
- 33:11i'm gonna be blunt with. You he shot that. GUY
- 33:14i have a video of. IT i watched it with
- 33:16my own. Eyes, okay because you got yourself wrapped up
- 33:18into a. Mess so let's go. Back he calls you
- 33:22at some. Point take me from the.
- 33:24Speaker 15: Time he called you and Police, savannah be as detailed
- 33:26as you can about what he said to, you BECAUSE
- 33:27i can see him calling you on the surveillance.
- 33:29Speaker 10: VIDEO i can see him on the. Phone so what
- 33:32did he say to?
- 33:32Speaker 11: You he, said grabbed the, bags let's you and he just.
- 33:36Speaker 10: Say repeating that Over, Okay so then he gets up
- 33:41to the. Room be super.
- 33:43Speaker 15: Specific what is everything that happened from the time he
- 33:46walked into that room until the time you guys walked
- 33:49out of the.
- 33:49Speaker 10: Room tell me.
- 33:49Speaker 24: Everything he just, said let's, go we need to, go
- 33:53AND i ended up asking why what's going?
- 33:56Speaker 5: On and he see you upset he just kept.
- 33:59Speaker 10: Says he also, said so he, said.
- 34:03Speaker 6: We need to go To.
- 34:04Speaker 10: Mexico we need to go To.
- 34:05Speaker 8: Mexico.
- 34:06Speaker 10: Okay so he said we need to go To.
- 34:07Speaker 6: Mexico.
- 34:08Speaker 10: Okay the time that he walked into the. Room all,
- 34:11right so you guys get your stuff. Together, boom he,
- 34:14says we need to go To. Mexico keeps telling you
- 34:16we gott to fucking. Go you guys, Leave you walk
- 34:19out to the parking structure and you're contacted by the.
- 34:22Speaker 15: POLICE i heard you say that the police approached and
- 34:26he put his hands up and turned and you started to.
- 34:29Speaker 10: Tell me what he said to, you and then you.
- 34:31STOPPED i don't. REMEMBER i don't need perbade him give
- 34:35me the gist of what it was that he said to.
- 34:36Speaker 16: YOU i.
- 34:39Speaker 6: Had just woken up, everything.
- 34:43Speaker 10: AND i genuinely don't.
- 34:45Speaker 15: Remember, Okay So i'm picturing it in my head BECAUSE
- 34:49i wasn't. There BUT i don't want to get it.
- 34:51Wrong so when you, say, like can you give me
- 34:53a demonstration of what he did when the police, Approached
- 34:57like what did he do body language?
- 34:58Speaker 10: Wise what did he do well that He i'm pretty
- 35:03sure he dropped his having a.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Ground and he just put his hands.
- 35:06Speaker 10: Up what is his backpack look?
- 35:08Speaker 11: LIKE i think it's A jordan.
- 35:10Speaker 10: Blackpack it's.
- 35:11Speaker 16: Black the only other things in the car were my,
- 35:14bag which is, green and he had another black double.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Bag the bag That savannah mentions contains several Of edgar's,
- 35:22item's including the weapon he used to Kill garcia.
- 35:29Speaker 10: Girls and then it looks like the mag and the
- 35:31gun are. Separated it is, open, okay and there's a
- 35:36magazine with.
- 35:36Speaker 2: It, okay, Okay so let's watch for three seven barrel.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Six this information is what the detective uses to not
- 35:54only make sure That savannah is telling the, truth but
- 35:56to find out whether this murder was premeditated or?
- 35:59Speaker 10: Not do you Know edgar to carry a firearm on
- 36:02a regular? Basis did you know he was carrying a
- 36:05FIRE i knew that he had it with, Him. OKAY
- 36:09i didn't know that he had it when we were
- 36:11like in the. Casino, okay so you were not aware of?
- 36:14Speaker 11: That?
- 36:14Speaker 10: No does he generally carry it on in this person
- 36:16when you guys go?
- 36:17Speaker 11: Out?
- 36:18Speaker 10: No HAD i Guess i'm trying to wrap my mind.
- 36:22Around you, know sometimes people like for, me for, instance law,
- 36:25ENFORCEMENT i carried EVERYWHERE i go nature of the.
- 36:27Speaker 5: Job.
- 36:27Speaker 15: Right some people only carry it sometimes if they feel
- 36:31like there might be a, problem or they feel, threatened.
- 36:33Speaker 10: Or it's a bad environment or something like. That and
- 36:36other people carry it all the time just just in. Case.
- 36:39RIGHT i know for a fact he doesn't have it
- 36:40on him all the. Time, Okay so he doesn't have
- 36:42it on it all the. Time M do you have
- 36:43any idea what would have prompted him to carry it?
- 36:46Today not when he came back to the, room did
- 36:49you see the gun in his? Possession?
- 36:51Speaker 5: NO i saw it when we were leaving the hotel.
- 36:54Speaker 10: Room about value of the car and where did you see?
- 36:56Speaker 2: That?
- 36:57Speaker 11: HE i think he put it in his. BOX i
- 37:04don't know if it's like a gun case or one Of.
- 37:08Speaker 15: Okay i'm, sorry say that from here one more. Time
- 37:10you saw when you were leaving the room and from
- 37:15the room to the, Car, Okay so he stopped.
- 37:17Speaker 11: It he'd put it in a.
- 37:19Speaker 10: BOX i think it's his gun.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Case under normal, circumstances it would not have been odd
- 37:24For edgar to carry a. Weapon this is because he
- 37:27worked as a security guard In Santa, cruz and due
- 37:30to the nature of his, job one would expect him
- 37:32to be safety. Oriented if this were the, case detectives
- 37:35likely would not think that the murder was. Premeditated, however
- 37:38the reality was that carrying a weapon was unlike, him
- 37:42as his girlfriend. Testifies if, anything this has dug an
- 37:46even deeper grave For, edgar since there are grounds to
- 37:48charge him with first degree. Murder But edgar somehow makes
- 37:52this situation even worse for himself with the interview he
- 37:55gives one of the officers who arrests. Him this would
- 37:58also be where we finally See edgar's mental state during
- 38:01and after the.
- 38:02Speaker 13: Murder it's important for you to be able to tell
- 38:04your side of the story about what happened back, there
- 38:06AND i want to listen to. IT i didn't necessarily
- 38:09want to do it here in the back of a police,
- 38:10car but since you mentioned that you have a gun
- 38:13and that it's in the, CAR i.
- 38:15Speaker 4: Think it's important that we have the conversation so, that,
- 38:19like you, know why don't you be kountable to me
- 38:21because you didn't tell me that, before you, know But
- 38:26i'll tell you, that, like why don't you tell me
- 38:29your side of?
- 38:30Speaker 2: This how did this? Happen long?
- 38:32Speaker 4: Run and she knows too Like i'm. Not she's been
- 38:38wanting to do it for a. While she's wanted to
- 38:40become like a police, officer you.
- 38:43Speaker 25: Know, Okay so we're we're okay. Talking, yes you're willing
- 38:47to talk to me a little, Bit, okay a little.
- 38:49Bit and LIKE i, said anytime you.
- 38:51Speaker 4: Want IF i, don't IF i don't want to talk to,
- 38:53you you can say anytime during this, conversation you can, say, Hey,
- 38:56steve Like i've, Had i've had rather remembers that are game,
- 39:00members you, know and LIKE i know the way it.
- 39:02Speaker 2: IS i get it in the.
- 39:03Speaker 25: Street so AND i understand that that you had a, life,
- 39:07RIGHT i get, That and it's it's important for you
- 39:14to get your side of this. Out what, happened why it,
- 39:16Happened And i'm willing to listen to.
- 39:18Speaker 1: That, immediately the detective sets up a safe space For
- 39:22edgar to, talk considering the facts that he has. Drunk
- 39:25these sort of questioning tactics have an instant effect on
- 39:27him as he begins to open, up did you.
- 39:30Speaker 4: Know that guy didn't?
