  Speaker 1: Good morning, Mafia!
• 0:08
Speaker 2: It's Victory Friday, September 18th. Welcome back to The Morning Charge,
• 0:13
Speaker 2: your daily 10-minute or less Buffalo Bills news hit. I'm
• 0:16
Speaker 2: Aaron Quinn, here with Colin Ritchie, bringing you everything you
• 0:19
Speaker 2: need to know to start your day. Let's get right
• 0:22
Speaker 2: into it. If you are just waking up and getting
• 0:26
Speaker 2: into your commute, The Buffalo Bills officially christened the new
• 0:29
Speaker 2: Highmark Stadium with a statement win knocking off the Detroit
• 0:33
Speaker 2: Lions 41-31 on Thursday night football to advance to 2-0.
• 0:38
Speaker 2: Let's quickly lay out how the game went before Colin
• 0:40
Speaker 2: drops some incredible historical stats on what we witnessed last night.
• 0:45
Speaker 2: Joe Brady's offense came out firing, scoring touchdowns on the
• 0:48
Speaker 2: first three drives to jump out to a 21-0 lead
• 0:50
Speaker 2: early in the second quarter. Josh Allen accounted for five
• 0:54
Speaker 2: touchdowns on the night, throwing three scores and punching in
• 0:57
Speaker 2: two on the ground, including a historic first-ever touchdown in
• 1:00
Speaker 2: the new building. James Cook anchored the backfield, keeping Detroit's
• 1:04
Speaker 2: defensive front off balance while the offensive line gave Allen
• 1:07
Speaker 2: a clean pocket and wiped out the linebackers in the
• 1:09
Speaker 2: run game. Give credit to Detroit. Jared Goff threw four touchdowns,
• 1:14
Speaker 2: and Amon Ross St. Brown went off for 142 yards
• 1:17
Speaker 2: and two scores. But Jim Leonard's defense made critical stops
• 1:20
Speaker 2: late to close the door on a comeback. At the
• 1:23
Speaker 2: end of the day, 41 points on the board, 0
• 1:26
Speaker 2: turnovers lost, and a 2-0 start for the Buffalo Bills.
• 1:30
  Speaker 2: Josh Allen was 20 for 31, 248 passing yards, 3
• 1:35
Speaker 2: passing touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 2 rushing touchdowns, equaling 5 total
• 1:40
Speaker 2: touchdowns on the day. James Cook added 21 carries for
• 1:43
Speaker 2: 135 yards and 1 rushing touchdown, giving him 6.5 yards
• 1:47
Speaker 2: per carry. Don Kincaid had another great game with 7 catches,
• 1:51
Speaker 2: 95 yards, and a touchdown. Greg Rousseau off to a
• 1:54
Speaker 2: big start this year, recorded two more sacks on the year,
• 1:57
Speaker 2: pushing his early season total to four, and added two
• 2:00
Speaker 2: more tackles for a loss. Time of possession was dominated
• 2:04
Speaker 2: by Buffalo. They held the ball for 33 minutes and
• 2:07
  Speaker 2: 45 seconds versus Detroit's 26 minutes and 15 seconds. Buffalo
• 2:12
Speaker 2: was able to put up 446 total yards, giving them 6.5
• 2:14
Speaker 2: yards per play. Now, the one major cloud hanging over
• 2:21
Speaker 2: last night's win, and the thing every Bills fan is
• 2:23
Speaker 2: going to be refreshing their feeds for all weekend, is
• 2:25
Speaker 2: the health of wide receiver DJ Moore. Late in the
• 2:28
Speaker 2: second quarter, DJ went down hard on his left shoulder,
• 2:31
Speaker 2: attempting to make a diving catch in the end zone.
• 2:33
Speaker 2: He stayed down on the turf for a couple minutes
• 2:35
Speaker 2: before walking off under zone power with trainers and heading
• 2:38
Speaker 2: straight back for x-rays. The official team designation was a
• 2:41
Speaker 2: shoulder injury and a stinger, and he was eventually ruled
• 2:44
Speaker 2: out for the rest of the night. Joe Brady didn't
• 2:47
Speaker 2: have any comments after the game, and so we're waiting
• 2:49
Speaker 2: on this. For a more in-depth breakdown of the game,
• 2:52
Speaker 2: make sure you head over to the Cover One YouTube
• 2:54
Speaker 2: channel and watch Greg and I's breakdown on the Cover
• 2:56
Speaker 2: One Buffalo postgame show. We went live immediately after the game,
• 3:00
Speaker 2: giving you our reactions.
• 3:02
Speaker 1: Folks, I've got a lot of Josh Allen stats for you,
• 3:05
Speaker 1: so let's get right into it. First, Allen is now
• 3:09
Speaker 1: up to 83 career rushing touchdowns, which ties him for
• 3:13
Speaker 1: 18th in NFL history. Per QB Gami, Josh Allen is
• 3:18
Speaker 1: the first player with three plus passing and three plus
• 3:21
Speaker 1: rushing touchdowns in a team's first two games of the
• 3:24
Speaker 1: season since George Blanda did it for the 1960 Houston
• 3:29
Speaker 1: Oilers in their inaugural season in the AFL. Josh Allen
• 3:33
Speaker 1: is the first player in NFL history to record two
• 3:35
Speaker 1: plus passing and two plus rushing touchdowns in double digit games.
• 3:40
Speaker 1: No one else has done it more than four times.
• 3:44
Speaker 1: Allen is the only player in the league to record
• 3:46
Speaker 1: four-plus passing and four-plus rushing touchdowns in the first two
• 3:50
Speaker 1: games of the season. He's also the first player with
• 3:53
Speaker 1: five-plus passing and three-plus rushing touchdowns through two games of
• 3:57
Speaker 1: a season in NFL history. Allen is the third player
• 4:01
Speaker 1: all-time with nine or more total touchdowns and no turnovers
• 4:05
Speaker 1: to start a season in the first two games, joining
• 4:08
Speaker 1: 2018 Patrick Mahomes and 2013 Peyton Manning. Both players finished
• 4:13
Speaker 1: the year with over 5,000 passing yards and 50-plus touchdowns
• 4:17
Speaker 1: on their way to winning MVP. Per Ben Solak of ESPN,
• 4:22
Speaker 1: players in NFL history to have 5-plus passing and 4-plus
• 4:25
Speaker 1: rushing touchdowns in a two-game span. Eric Hipple did it
• 4:29
Speaker 1: in 1981, Josh Allen did it twice in 2024, and
• 4:33
Speaker 1: now Josh Allen did it in the first two games
• 4:35
Speaker 1: of 2026. Per Greg Harvey of games in NFL history
• 4:40
Speaker 1: with three passing touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns, no picks, and
• 4:43
Speaker 1: 60 or more rushing yards. Josh Allen has two now
• 4:47
Speaker 1: in his career, last night and against the Rams in 2024.
• 4:51
Speaker 1: Everyone else ever has won. Michael Vick did it back
• 4:55
  Speaker 1: in 2010. Allen's 25.4 total EPA ranks 99th percentile for
• 5:01
Speaker 1: a single game since 2010. According to Sumer Sports, Josh
• 5:06
Speaker 1: Allen's 32.31 total EPA through two weeks ranks second among
• 5:11
Speaker 1: all QBs to open the season since 2022, trailing only
• 5:15
Speaker 1: Josh Allen in his first two games back in 2022.
• 5:19
Speaker 1: My favorite, Josh Allen sat to come out of the evening.
• 5:22
Speaker 1: Since Allen was drafted in 2018, only Patrick Mahomes has
• 5:27
Speaker 1: more games with two-plus passing touchdowns. Mahomes has 81, Allen
• 5:30
Speaker 1: has 74. And only Derek Henry has more games with
• 5:34
Speaker 1: two-plus rushing touchdowns. Henry has 32. Allen has 18. Now
• 5:40
Speaker 1: for some non-Josh Allen Bill stats. With 135 rushing yards,
• 5:45
Speaker 1: James Cook moves into fifth in franchise history in rushing yards.
• 5:49
Speaker 1: He passed Joe Cribs and now trails only Josh Allen,
• 5:53
Speaker 1: Fred Jackson, OJ Simpson, and Thurman Thomas. Cook is about
• 5:57
Speaker 1: 200 yards behind Josh, so he'll move into the top
• 6:00
Speaker 1: four pretty soon. And he needs about 1,200 yards to
• 6:03
Speaker 1: pass Fred Jackson and move into the top three. Dalton
• 6:06
Speaker 1: Kincaid's 225 receiving yards over the first two weeks of
• 6:10
Speaker 1: the season is the highest total for any tight end
• 6:13
Speaker 1: since Jared Cook had 229 through the first two games
• 6:17
Speaker 1: of 2018. Other than Jared Cook, no tight end has
• 6:21
Speaker 1: reached Kincaid's 225-yard mark since at least 2000. Greg Rousseau
• 6:27
Speaker 1: now has at least half a sack in five straight
• 6:30
Speaker 1: regular season games. The last Buffalo Bill to do that
• 6:33
Speaker 1: was Lorenzo Alexander back in 2016. Joe Brady is the
• 6:38
Speaker 1: first head coach in team history to begin his coaching
• 6:41
Speaker 1: career 2-0. Through two games under Joe Brady, the Bills
• 6:45
Speaker 1: have scored 77 points, the fourth most in a head
• 6:48
Speaker 1: coach's first two games in the Super Bowl era. In
• 6:52
Speaker 1: the first half against Detroit, the Bills had plus. 64
• 6:57
Speaker 1: EPA per dropback, which is 94th percentile, and plus. 41
• 7:02
Speaker 1: EPA per designed run, which is 96th percentile. That's only
• 7:06
Speaker 1: the fifth time since 2022 that both have happened for
• 7:10
Speaker 1: an offense in the first half of the game. The
• 7:13
Speaker 1: Bills are also the only team to start 2-0 each
• 7:16
Speaker 1: of the past three seasons. They've also won 32 consecutive
• 7:20
Speaker 1: games in which they've held a lead at any point
• 7:22
Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter. Finally, the Bills and Lions scored
• 7:27
Speaker 1: 30 plus and allowed 30 plus in each of their
• 7:30
Speaker 1: first two games this season. Only four other teams in
• 7:33
Speaker 1: NFL history have done that. and two of them were
• 7:35
Speaker 1: also Bills teams, 2002 and 1991.
• 7:41
Speaker 2: Now that the Bills won and wrapped up their Week 2,
• 7:43
Speaker 2: Bills fans get to sit back and enjoy a full
• 7:45
Speaker 2: slate of games this weekend. Here are some games to
• 7:48
Speaker 2: keep an eye on in the AFC. The Cincinnati Bengals
• 7:51
Speaker 2: head to the Houston Texans for a 1 o'clock CBS game.
• 7:55
Speaker 2: Houston is coming off a wild 36-31 Week 1 loss
• 7:58
Speaker 2: to Buffalo, and meanwhile Cincinnati picked up a win Week
• 8:01
Speaker 2: 1 against Tampa Bay. This is a crucial early head-to-head
• 8:05
Speaker 2: AFC playoff tiebreaker game. Bills already hold a head-to-head tiebreaker
• 8:09
Speaker 2: over Houston, so tracking how C.J. Stroud vs. Joe Burrow
• 8:12
Speaker 2: battle will tell us a lot about the top tier
• 8:14
Speaker 2: of the AFC. The Green Bay Packers head to New
• 8:18
Speaker 2: York Jets, also a 1 o'clock game on Fox. The
• 8:21
Speaker 2: Jets captured a Week 1 win over the Tennessee Titans,
• 8:24
Speaker 2: and now host Green Bay at MetLife. The Jets' defense
• 8:26
Speaker 2: is a primary engine keeping this team in games. A
• 8:29
Speaker 2: Packers victory slows New York's early momentum and gives Buffalo
• 8:33
Speaker 2: sole possession of first place in the division heading into
• 8:35
  Speaker 2: Week 3. This is a 1 o'clock CBS game. New
• 8:40
Speaker 2: England drops back into Gillette Stadium after losing their Week
• 8:43
Speaker 2: 1 opener to the Seattle Seahawks 13-10, while Pittsburgh comes
• 8:47
Speaker 2: in 1-0 after taking down Atlanta. Drake May struggled with
• 8:50
Speaker 2: turnovers Week 1 with three interceptions and now faces T.J.
• 8:54
Speaker 2: Watt in an opportunistic Steelers defense. The Pittsburgh win puts
• 8:58
Speaker 2: New England at an early 0-2 hole at the bottom
• 9:00
Speaker 2: of the AFC East, giving Buffalo even more breathing room
• 9:03
Speaker 2: in the division early in the season. The Jacksonville Jaguars
• 9:07
Speaker 2: head to Denver Broncos for a 4 o'clock CBS game.
• 9:11
Speaker 2: Jacksonville comes off a statement Week 1 blowout over Cleveland, 34-10.
• 9:14
Speaker 2: Trevor Lawrence and the Jags enter Denver riding a 9-game
• 9:17
Speaker 2: regular season winning streak. Denver is looking to recover from
• 9:21
Speaker 2: a tough loss to Kansas City to open their season
• 9:23
Speaker 2: with a divisional The Indianapolis Colts head over to Kansas
• 9:28
Speaker 2: City to play the Chiefs on Sunday night football at
• 9:30
Speaker 2: 820 on NBC. Kansas City pulled off a 31-10 divisional
• 9:35
Speaker 2: win in Denver on week one and hosts Indianapolis in primetime.
• 9:39
Speaker 2: Anytime the Kansas City Chiefs are on primetime, Bill's Mafia
• 9:42
Speaker 2: is tuning in for conference seating implications. The Colts drop
• 9:45
Speaker 2: their opener to Baltimore and are fighting to avoid an
• 9:47
Speaker 2: 0-2 start, while Kansas City looks to keep pace with
• 9:50
Speaker 2: Buffalo at 2-0. That's going to do it for today's
• 9:53
Speaker 2: edition of the Morning Charge. Make sure you hit that
