- 0:00Speaker 1: Jack, Jagged Trump, Jagged Trump.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Jagger, Maroon five and moves like Jaggar. As I said
- 0:26Speaker 2: earlier on, we've got young Charlie Prescott in the hot
- 0:30Speaker 2: seat today as my special guest once again. Good morning, Charlie,
- 0:35Speaker 2: Good morning. How are we doing in there? We got
- 0:38Speaker 2: to what we're going to talk about today, then we
- 0:40Speaker 2: normally we normally black it, so let's uh, let's not
- 0:45Speaker 2: spoil anything we're coming on. But yeah, I mean we've
- 0:50Speaker 2: been doing Seasiders Radio now for what probably the second season, yeah,
- 0:55Speaker 2: about eighteen months. You come to the fall when I
- 1:00Speaker 2: got canceled last year and you took over from me
- 1:04Speaker 2: completely for the best part of six months, I believe.
- 1:07Speaker 2: And what was it like? Doing it on your own?
- 1:11Speaker 2: A lot worse than doing it with someone else. It
- 1:14Speaker 2: is weird, isn't it When you when you're you know,
- 1:17Speaker 2: you're actually you know, have to talk for ninety minutes
- 1:21Speaker 2: plus the halftime and the build up and in you know,
- 1:25Speaker 2: the after show is well, it is very difficult at least, well,
- 1:28Speaker 2: you know, when you've got somebody there, you've got somebody
- 1:30Speaker 2: to actually talk to, and you get a different perspective
- 1:33Speaker 2: as well of the game.
- 1:34Speaker 3: I think a lot of people forget about sort of
- 1:36Speaker 3: age based discrimination as well, as I said many times
- 1:39Speaker 3: on air, and I don't like to talk about it
- 1:42Speaker 3: too much, but sort of that infield town game.
- 1:44Speaker 2: I know you know where I'm going, yes, but.
- 1:48Speaker 3: I'll run through the store. We got to the ground,
- 1:50Speaker 3: of course, Aids he said, was ill. So it's just
- 1:52Speaker 3: myself and we got up towards the sort of the
- 1:55Speaker 3: press area, and they said, sorry, we've got we've not
- 1:58Speaker 3: got enough room in the press areas. I said, that's fine,
- 2:00Speaker 3: all right, I'll made myself up the other end and
- 2:02Speaker 3: just sort of sit on the chairs at the front
- 2:04Speaker 3: there and I'll do my commentary.
- 2:06Speaker 2: It must have been about.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Twenty twenty minutes in, twenty five minutes in and he
- 2:10Speaker 3: comes over and goes, sorry, you're annoying our directors. You
- 2:12Speaker 3: can't sit here. And I was like, okay, so where
- 2:15Speaker 3: do you want me to sit? And he goes away again.
- 2:17Speaker 3: And of course obviously there's still action going on here
- 2:18Speaker 3: which we want to be commentating on. So I've walked
- 2:20Speaker 3: up to the press area. I said, look, I've been
- 2:22Speaker 3: told I can't sit up there. I need to sit
- 2:23Speaker 3: in the press area. Gone there's no seats in the
- 2:26Speaker 3: press area. So I come back and by this time
- 2:28Speaker 3: I think Tom Dairy scored and we missed that, and
- 2:32Speaker 3: we sat back down and the director comes over again
- 2:34Speaker 3: and he goes, you can't sit here, and I think
- 2:36Speaker 3: I said, jump me to magic a seat up in
- 2:37Speaker 3: the press in the press area, but I can't sit there,
- 2:41Speaker 3: and he just I think I ended up sitting on
- 2:42Speaker 3: a cold step at the back of the ground on
- 2:44Speaker 3: a freezing cold day.
- 2:46Speaker 2: And it's just one of those things. I think you
- 2:49Speaker 2: were saying how nice they were, so you were. Yeah,
- 2:51Speaker 2: I was very surprised actually, because in Enfield Turn, I've
- 2:54Speaker 2: been nothing but accommodating it every time I've been there.
- 2:58Speaker 2: I mean I've done a commentary there twice before, and
- 3:02Speaker 2: I think we've even had a cup of tea given
- 3:03Speaker 2: to me before, which is very rare when we go
- 3:06Speaker 2: to away grounds. But yeah, I mean I think that,
- 3:10Speaker 2: you know, that was a bit much.
- 3:13Speaker 3: It's just so sure, wh we're doing it out of
- 3:16Speaker 3: our own time as well, and we're not there to
- 3:18Speaker 3: annoy people and really intrued if you're getting annoyed by
- 3:21Speaker 3: a bit of matchday commentary, surely football isn't isn't isn't
- 3:24Speaker 3: for you?
- 3:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I think the worst one I had
- 3:27Speaker 2: was I think it was Chess Hunt, very very similar
- 3:30Speaker 2: to what you said. You know that their directors didn't
- 3:34Speaker 2: like commentating people commentating whether they were trying to watch
- 3:39Speaker 2: the game, and you know, yeah, it was I had
- 3:43Speaker 2: to move away and I had you know, there was
- 3:47Speaker 2: no electric there, so I had to rustle something up quickly,
- 3:52Speaker 2: and you know, you just get through it the best
- 3:55Speaker 2: way you can, and thankfully I didn't miss a goal.
- 3:58Speaker 2: But yeah, it does happen occasionally, and it is a
- 4:03Speaker 2: bit sad. But you know, we are talking non league,
- 4:06Speaker 2: and some grounds are getting better. I mean, up until
- 4:10Speaker 2: this season we didn't have electricity in our press area,
- 4:13Speaker 2: but now they seem to be accommodated a little bit
- 4:17Speaker 2: better in there, and they gave us what we wanted there.
- 4:21Speaker 3: I think there's a lot of clubs as well who
- 4:23Speaker 3: are sort of at the foreground of non league, sort
- 4:26Speaker 3: of becoming this more professional environment as well, with matchday
- 4:29Speaker 3: commentaries and things like that. And unfortunately, I don't know
- 4:33Speaker 3: how to word this. It tends not to be the
- 4:36Speaker 3: elder statesman of YSHMIA League, if that makes sense. Your
- 4:38Speaker 3: chest hunts, your end fields, and these teams who have
- 4:41Speaker 3: been around for a lot longer. But you look at
- 4:43Speaker 3: your bit of rickeys and people like that, who are
- 4:45Speaker 3: suddenly really accommodated and looking to run it, run it
- 4:47Speaker 3: like a proper football class.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Hashtag United comes to mind there. Well, they are a
- 4:53Speaker 2: internet team, aren't they. Really, There's no such place as
- 4:56Speaker 2: a hashtag. They formed a team many years not that
- 5:00Speaker 2: many years ago, and they've come up the league, seen
- 5:03Speaker 2: leaps and bounds, and they're actually in the obviously in
- 5:06Speaker 2: the Esbian Premier League, the same as folks in Victor.
- 5:08Speaker 2: It was quite daunting.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Actually, I'm going back again because the first game I
- 5:12Speaker 3: did without you was Hashtag United away and sort of
- 5:17Speaker 3: as someone who had been watching Hashtag United from a
- 5:20Speaker 3: young age, suddenly I sat there commentating for the first
- 5:22Speaker 3: time without you, next to next to sort of Spencer
- 5:25Speaker 3: and said, for of course, if you don't know how,
- 5:27Speaker 3: the chairman and sort of founders and media stars of
- 5:31Speaker 3: Hashtag United do all of it.
- 5:33Speaker 2: And so they are this whether people like it or not.
- 5:37Speaker 3: They are the biggest team in the ISHMA League undoubtedly,
- 5:40Speaker 3: and you look at their social media following, how many
- 5:43Speaker 3: people they have across their different channels.
- 5:45Speaker 2: They are the biggest team in the league. Yeah, they
- 5:50Speaker 2: might not be the best team, but yeah, I mean
- 5:53Speaker 2: supporters wise throughout the world, they're the Manchester United of
- 5:57Speaker 2: the Espian Premier League, aren't they really?
- 5:58Speaker 3: Their attendances I think they are for one hundred and
- 6:00Speaker 3: eighty four, but when you take into perspective, they average
- 6:04Speaker 3: I think about eighty thousand views on their match day
- 6:06Speaker 3: highlights each week and I don't even think that's doing addressice.
- 6:09Speaker 3: I think it may be more than that, but it's
- 6:12Speaker 3: is on it.
- 6:13Speaker 2: I don't.
- 6:14Speaker 3: It's mental to understand how this club in step seven
- 6:18Speaker 3: seven eight of the non league can have almost as
- 6:22Speaker 3: many social media views on highlights as Premier League clubs do.
- 6:25Speaker 2: It is crazy, and you know, I think they'll only
- 6:30Speaker 2: go forward. They've sort of hit a bit of a
- 6:32Speaker 2: stumbling block now because they've been going through the leagues,
- 6:36Speaker 2: as I say, quite quite rapidly, and now they've come
- 6:38Speaker 2: to quite a good level, as we know, and it's
- 6:42Speaker 2: just me and Premier League and they're struggling a bit
- 6:45Speaker 2: this season, but I'm sure they'll chuck some money out
- 6:49Speaker 2: it and start doing well soon. We're going to put
- 6:51Speaker 2: another song and then when we come back me and
- 6:54Speaker 2: trying going to tell you about when we went to Wembley. Wembley,
- 7:00Speaker 2: that was a good day anyway. This one is what
- 7:02Speaker 2: we got. We got a Christmas one. This is Chris
- 7:04Speaker 2: Rea is driving home for Christmas and also the sponsorship.
- 7:10Speaker 4: One oh five point nine Radio Folkston.
- 7:13Speaker 3: This song has been adopted by the DJB Furniture Emporium
- 7:17Speaker 3: and we would like to take this opportunity to wish
- 7:19Speaker 3: all of our customers are very merry Christmas, are a
- 7:22Speaker 3: happy New Year.
- 7:23Speaker 5: Folkstone's radio station, Radio Focuston made in Folkeston Radio Focuston.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Just before that, we were saying that we did Wembley
- 7:39Speaker 2: last year. Yeah, that was quite surreal, wasn't it. I
- 7:43Speaker 2: mean we put it into perspective. We go down to
- 7:46Speaker 2: a place like Whitehawk, which is basic to say the least,
- 7:51Speaker 2: and then the following week we're at Wembley Stadium. It
- 7:58Speaker 2: was very surreal, wasn't it. We were just to let
- 8:00Speaker 2: you the listener know that we did the Non League
- 8:04Speaker 2: finals day which was the f A Trophy and the
- 8:06Speaker 2: FA VARs which is played at Wembley Stadium on the
- 8:09Speaker 2: same day. Tell us a little bit how how we
- 8:15Speaker 2: we finally got to actually.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Do that, or to start with, I think that last
- 8:21Speaker 3: week two weeks of the season was probably my favorite
- 8:24Speaker 3: favorite spell of Seasiders Radio last year, as much as
- 8:27Speaker 3: I love following folks and doing was it Ramsgate Chichester?
- 8:31Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 8:31Speaker 2: We did the playoff semi final that long, didn't we?
- 8:33Speaker 2: That was I think that was one of the semi
- 8:36Speaker 2: finals and I think that was probably it was. It
- 8:39Speaker 2: was the best few figures of this season. And then
- 8:41Speaker 2: we did Chatham Horsham. Did we do the following week? No,
- 8:45Speaker 2: because we've tried to do the final but there they
- 8:48Speaker 2: were literally burst into capacity and they couldn't accommodate us
- 8:52Speaker 2: a semi final, didn't we We did the semi final
- 8:54Speaker 2: against Horsham?
- 8:56Speaker 3: Yeah, and then we went after that we said, I
- 8:58Speaker 3: think we said should we try and get into to
- 9:00Speaker 3: non league finals day? And a bit of back and
- 9:04Speaker 3: forth female with the f A and I think they're
- 9:08Speaker 3: The main concern was who had the rights to it?
- 9:10Speaker 2: And I think the answer in the end was no one.
- 9:14Speaker 2: The email. You got the email and it came back
- 9:16Speaker 2: and I remember seeing it.
- 9:16Speaker 3: You sent it over and I was sort of like, whoa,
- 9:19Speaker 3: we're going to commentate, got we're off to Wembley and
- 9:22Speaker 3: the surreal things. We could have got into the National
- 9:25Speaker 3: League playoff final as well, couldn't we if we have email.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Yeah, we were a little bit late for that one,
- 9:28Speaker 2: weren't we unfortunately, But we will do that this year.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Which hopefully, yeah, hopefully we can get into this year.
- 9:33Speaker 3: But as you said, doing your Whitehawks and people like
- 9:38Speaker 3: that who don't have I don't have these four stand
- 9:42Speaker 3: grounds call them that ones that feel like proper football grounds.
- 9:46Speaker 3: And to go and commentate at the home of football
- 9:48Speaker 3: was just, yeah, surreal and I don't think people realize
- 9:51Speaker 3: how nice the press get it in professional environment.
- 9:55Speaker 2: It was a bit of an eye open, wasn't it. Yeah.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I mean we got our lanyards and our own entrance
- 10:01Speaker 2: and we went up there and there's a massive, great,
- 10:03Speaker 2: big computer area and everything, the media area, help yourself
- 10:10Speaker 2: to food, drink and the view stunning view.
- 10:16Speaker 3: One of the best views of the pitch. Yeah you
- 10:19Speaker 3: get rid of the gantry, probably second best.
- 10:21Speaker 2: And it was just was fantastic. I mean, what was it?
- 10:26Speaker 2: Took great wake in rovers and was it Roger? I
- 10:30Speaker 2: can see it Romford and then we did Sony hold
- 10:36Speaker 2: Moor's versus gatesheads. I mean only the week before they'd
- 10:42Speaker 2: lost at Wembley in the playoff final to Bromley on penalties,
- 10:49Speaker 2: and then of course he Fight Trophy went to penalties
- 10:52Speaker 2: as well and they lost on penalties again. And it
- 10:55Speaker 2: was the same people that missed the penalties the week before.
- 10:58Speaker 3: I remember we were saying this. They stepped up, were saying,
- 11:00Speaker 3: do you stick to you twist? And I think we
- 11:02Speaker 3: were split, weren't we? You think one of us said?
- 11:04Speaker 3: One of the said if if they back themselves, let
- 11:06Speaker 3: them take it again, and everyone said I wouldn't touch it.
- 11:09Speaker 2: And they were at the end, weren't they. They weren't. No,
- 11:13Speaker 2: And yeah they say like you don't sort strike twice.
- 11:17Speaker 2: I'm actually wondering if they're actually at some of our
- 11:20Speaker 2: mores this season after missing the penalties in two, you know,
- 11:25Speaker 2: two massive games for them. But yeah, I mean that
- 11:27Speaker 2: Wembley was a bit of the icing on the cake
- 11:29Speaker 2: for us. I was just having to look through before
- 11:32Speaker 2: we come on here. And do you know how many
- 11:34Speaker 2: listeners we've had since I started this?
- 11:38Speaker 5: What is it?
- 11:39Speaker 2: What were we in twenty twenty four. I think I'm
- 11:42Speaker 2: starting in about twenty twenty one, halfway through the season.
- 11:46Speaker 2: I think I started.
- 11:47Speaker 3: I know we were around twenty thousand. I've be intruders
- 11:51Speaker 3: to what we've added over the last season or so well.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Up to and including Saturday. After Saturday's listening figures, we
- 11:58Speaker 2: have had total listening so far of thirty seven thousand,
- 12:02Speaker 2: one hundred and fifty six.
- 12:04Speaker 3: That means we must have added at least seven to
- 12:07Speaker 3: ten thousand over the course of last season.
- 12:10Speaker 2: It's unbelievable. I mean our viewing figures. I mean I
- 12:13Speaker 2: started off and it was like twenty two I think
- 12:16Speaker 2: twenty three people when I first started, and you know,
- 12:20Speaker 2: it's rapidly grown and we get over you know, one
- 12:23Speaker 2: hundred play pool quite regularly. And I mean the classic
- 12:27Speaker 2: example is today we're playing Where You Go. We were
- 12:31Speaker 2: playing Wing Gat in fintionally this afternoon. It was earlier
- 12:34Speaker 2: on in the season. We drew three to three of them.
- 12:36Speaker 2: It was a little bit of a controversial enter the
- 12:38Speaker 2: game where it was abandoned because of an injury to
- 12:41Speaker 2: their goal gup and I think the attendance was like
- 12:47Speaker 2: one hundred and ten at the actual ground and our
- 12:50Speaker 2: listening figures were one hundred and forty two, so we
- 12:53Speaker 2: had more listeners on Seasiders Radio than they had people
- 12:57Speaker 2: coming through the gate. But yeah, that was a bit
- 13:00Speaker 2: of a That was a very nice, very nice day.
- 13:03Speaker 5: Really.
- 13:04Speaker 2: They started off very quite a nice press area for
- 13:08Speaker 2: us to go into. That was fine. And we have
- 13:12Speaker 2: this little sea side this radio banner which we normally
- 13:15Speaker 2: put up near us so you know, other people could
- 13:18Speaker 2: see that we are focusing in Victor and we are
- 13:21Speaker 2: doing the commentary for the game, and it's important we
- 13:23Speaker 2: put it near us. Yeah, as far as close to
- 13:26Speaker 2: us as possible. And of course where we were at
- 13:30Speaker 2: when get officially, there was no real nowhere to really
- 13:34Speaker 2: hang it. So I just hang it just to the
- 13:36Speaker 2: left of us, didn't I. It was like over their tunnel.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Go on, tell the listener what ever?
- 13:42Speaker 5: Was he?
- 13:42Speaker 3: The chairman of the director was one of the one
- 13:45Speaker 3: of He came up and said, you're not putting that there? Well,
- 13:48Speaker 3: it wasn't even that. He was running around before, going
- 13:51Speaker 3: who's banner is that? And I've sort of sat there
- 13:53Speaker 3: looking at you and I was like, I think that's
- 13:55Speaker 3: our banner, isn't it? And he came up and he said,
- 13:58Speaker 3: you can't put that there. He was it was very
- 14:00Speaker 3: nice about it.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Either. If you did just come up and said can
- 14:03Speaker 2: you please move that, I think we'd have gone. Yeah, right,
- 14:05Speaker 2: no problem. Quite quite confronting. He came.
- 14:08Speaker 3: He came over and you can't put that there. We
- 14:11Speaker 3: wouldn't put it over your tunnel. And I don't think
- 14:13Speaker 3: it was over the tunnel. It was over the front
- 14:14Speaker 3: of our press.
- 14:15Speaker 5: Bit.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just a left of us.
- 14:18Speaker 3: You can't put it that. You can't put it up,
- 14:20Speaker 3: So we took it down. This is part one of
- 14:22Speaker 3: Vashnanigan's with our friends that the directors. I'm sure we'll
- 14:26Speaker 3: talk about it later, but we I think we ended.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Up moving it, didn't you.
- 14:30Speaker 3: You ended up putting over the opposite side of the camera.
- 14:32Speaker 3: So on all the highlights you can now see the
- 14:34Speaker 3: Seasiders radio band, which I think works out even better. Yeah,
- 14:39Speaker 3: but yeah, that was the first thing, wasn't it. And
- 14:41Speaker 3: then the game itself, because you know, we've been done
- 14:45Speaker 3: very well over the last few see I think it
- 14:47Speaker 3: was four one four one, I think the previous seasons,
- 14:50Speaker 3: and yeah, well put two point it was three to
- 14:55Speaker 3: three going into the last ten minutes, wasn't it?
- 14:57Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 14:58Speaker 3: And it was a great game of football as well,
- 14:59Speaker 3: to be I think they scored really early.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Then we equalized.
- 15:02Speaker 3: I remember the first equal the first equalised, the hoitis
- 15:05Speaker 3: pull from the right and Tom Derry doing Tom dairy
- 15:08Speaker 3: things and put it head on it into the Botom
- 15:10Speaker 3: corner and sort of continued that patterned, didn't It was
- 15:14Speaker 3: very open in the midfield.
- 15:15Speaker 4: It was.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Yeah, we were the makings of our own downfall. But
- 15:18Speaker 3: suddenly we went in, went in free one down, didn't
- 15:21Speaker 3: we are half time? And we came back out and
- 15:23Speaker 3: we scored two, and as she said, we're going into
- 15:25Speaker 3: the last ten minutes, I think we both sent the
- 15:27Speaker 3: time we're going to win this game.
- 15:29Speaker 2: You could. You get these feelings, don't you when you're
- 15:31Speaker 2: watching games sometimes? And we were really on top and
- 15:34Speaker 2: they they just had a player sent off as well,
- 15:36Speaker 2: hadn't they? It was and we prot the kitchen sync.
- 15:41Speaker 3: We talked about red cards and the officiating, and I'm
- 15:45Speaker 3: sure that's another whole concoction itself, another show. But he
- 15:50Speaker 3: the first one was a stonewall yellow, if I remember,
- 15:52Speaker 3: it was denying a clear and obvious counter attack or whatever.
- 15:55Speaker 2: The terminology of it. He's pulled him down, didn't he.
- 15:57Speaker 3: And then he tapped the ball about four or four
- 16:01Speaker 3: yards and he sent him off for which I thought
- 16:06Speaker 3: was harsh, But then it happened to Marvel like Peteta.
- 16:10Speaker 2: A couple of days later.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Yeah, so didn't fit the sorry for him anymore. But yeah,
- 16:15Speaker 3: they're down to ten and then I'll hand back over
- 16:18Speaker 3: to you. With the moment which unfortunately summed up the afternoon.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Well, I think it was a corner, wasn't it. Was
- 16:27Speaker 2: it a corner across? It came in. Tom Derry folks
- 16:31Speaker 2: Is number nine, went up for the ball, had every
- 16:35Speaker 2: right to go for the ball. Goalkeeper went up there
- 16:36Speaker 2: with him. They both clashed. So we say, I don't
- 16:41Speaker 2: believe Tom hurt him or you know, it definitely wasn't intentional.
- 16:46Speaker 2: If he did hurt him, I just think it was
- 16:48Speaker 2: the way the goalkeeper fell.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Uh.
- 16:50Speaker 2: And he was he was sparko and he was complete.
- 16:53Speaker 2: He was out cold the goalkeeper. There was a little
- 16:56Speaker 2: bit of a concern in there. The renownblance was called
- 16:59Speaker 2: and then we're sort of sitting in the press box
- 17:01Speaker 2: and that lovely gentleman two of them, wasn't it? This
- 17:05Speaker 2: is where Yeah, that's right. There was two of them
- 17:07Speaker 2: when they come down, and one of them, our friend.
- 17:09Speaker 3: From earlier was one of them, and then the chair
- 17:12Speaker 3: it was the director at Casus earlier, and then the
- 17:14Speaker 3: chairman with his friend that came down with.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Him, and his words were exactly if he if our
- 17:22Speaker 2: goalkeeper dies, Tom Derry should be charged with murder.
- 17:26Speaker 3: And I think as he walked down, I was in
- 17:28Speaker 3: the middle of summing up and I think I said,
- 17:30Speaker 3: this happens up and down in the country every week,
- 17:33Speaker 3: and it's fine because it is.
- 17:34Speaker 2: It's a fifty to fifty between keeper and don't in football.
- 17:38Speaker 2: I mean, you go up for the ball and you unfortunately,
- 17:41Speaker 2: it's normally the way you land.
- 17:43Speaker 3: And he came down he said, I'm not going to
- 17:45Speaker 3: repeat exactly what he said because he used some colorful
- 17:47Speaker 3: language the area, but it was along the lines of
- 17:51Speaker 3: if you're not going to commentate properly, don't commentate at all.
- 17:54Speaker 3: And I sort of sat there thinking, well, we are
- 17:57Speaker 3: We've summed that up with something that up perfectly, and
- 18:01Speaker 3: unfortunately it summed him up as a person because he
- 18:04Speaker 3: then felt it was his right to go on to
- 18:06Speaker 3: the pitch and express his views towards the folks of
- 18:09Speaker 3: officials and the referee.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think, well, we don't know for sure,
- 18:13Speaker 2: but we reckon. That was the reason why the game
- 18:15Speaker 2: was abandoned. As soon as the ambulance game took him
- 18:19Speaker 2: away obviously made sure that he was okay. The referee
- 18:23Speaker 2: then decided to call the game.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Off, which was I think was a whole other saga
- 18:28Speaker 3: in itself, because as soon as the ambulance got there,
- 18:30Speaker 3: it's felt like he called it off, which to put
- 18:32Speaker 3: into perspective, I think, was it worthing played that same
- 18:36Speaker 3: day and as approached, Yeah, there was, Yeah, that was
- 18:39Speaker 3: it was a bad, bad day all around that and
- 18:41Speaker 3: they waited, they restarted afterwards, and you just you just
- 18:46Speaker 3: feel maybe for referee on the day was a little
- 18:49Speaker 3: bit I don't want to say stronger, but I feel
- 18:51Speaker 3: like that is probably the word, if he'd just sort
- 18:54Speaker 3: of held his nerve.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Both teams were ready to play on yeah, I mean
- 18:57Speaker 2: remember them to Toby Barron of finished, he'd actually put
- 19:02Speaker 2: the goalkeeper shirt on, ready to go into goal.
- 19:05Speaker 3: They were both warming up, and as soon as the
- 19:07Speaker 3: ambulance got there, it's sort of abandoned and Unfortunately, if
- 19:11Speaker 3: he'd just waited fifteen minutes, Prince I can't remember his
- 19:14Speaker 3: second name, that he was in the ambulance and it
- 19:17Speaker 3: drove off to the hospital with fifteen minutes later. So
- 19:21Speaker 3: it would have saved a lot of controversy if he's
- 19:25Speaker 3: just waited and we'd have finished a game.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Yeah, And what didn't help is then the Isami League
- 19:30Speaker 2: Premier League decided, not straight away what the result would be.
- 19:35Speaker 2: It took him what three weeks here something close to that,
- 19:38Speaker 2: wasn't he Yeah, it took him three weeks to decide
- 19:40Speaker 2: that the game was abandoned and the three three draw stood.
- 19:46Speaker 2: But like you said, we were sort of well on
- 19:49Speaker 2: top and we really thought that we would get three
- 19:52Speaker 2: points there after we have won that.
- 19:54Speaker 3: I'm almost certain we'd have won that game. But what's
- 19:56Speaker 3: interesting now for people who don't follow the Ishma League
- 19:59Speaker 3: religious there was a sort of similar situation in the
- 20:02Speaker 3: Lewis game.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Never weeit wasn't there with a Cray Valley.
- 20:06Speaker 3: There was a player sent off for a challenge and
- 20:08Speaker 3: someone broke their leg and that was abandoned with Lewis
- 20:10Speaker 3: tunel up. So it'll be interesting to see if they
- 20:12Speaker 3: stick to their guns now and they yeah, results.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Yeah, but we all know what the ESPAN Premier League
- 20:19Speaker 2: are like. I mean we could go on about it
- 20:22Speaker 2: for ever a bit. We've just had Boxing Day and normally,
- 20:26Speaker 2: if you're a football fan boxing day fixtures, especially non league,
- 20:30Speaker 2: you don't want to be traveling too far on boxing day.
- 20:33Speaker 2: You just want to go around the corner and see
- 20:35Speaker 2: your local team, or if you have to travel maybe
- 20:38Speaker 2: half hour three cours, an hour to an hour up
- 20:40Speaker 2: the road, which is he's doable. But no, the Espen
- 20:44Speaker 2: Premier League decided that all the other fixtures apart from
- 20:48Speaker 2: two we're going to be local derbies. And of course
- 20:51Speaker 2: then don't for Athletic out to travel to Hastings not
- 20:55Speaker 2: too far for them, but you know, far enough on
- 20:57Speaker 2: boxing day and they stick us all the way down
- 20:59Speaker 2: to Lewis. I mean Lewis is not the easiest place
- 21:02Speaker 2: to get to. It's further than Brighton on a boxing day.
- 21:06Speaker 2: And if you're listening to any supporters that went down
- 21:10Speaker 2: to Lewis, fair play to you because that was a
- 21:13Speaker 2: trek and a half for again, it was a nil
- 21:18Speaker 2: Neil draw.
- 21:19Speaker 3: Our media man Handt summed it up really nicely with
- 21:22Speaker 3: his study, did his research and there was only one
- 21:25Speaker 3: game in the National League which supporters and players had
- 21:28Speaker 3: to travel further than we did. And in the National League,
- 21:31Speaker 3: of course, that's across the whole country and the EISHMA
- 21:34Speaker 3: League regionalized, which is insane.
- 21:37Speaker 2: You know, I've said it before. You know, Isthmian League
- 21:41Speaker 2: really needs to take a good look at themselves and
- 21:44Speaker 2: sort it out because that shouldn't happen again. Whether or
- 21:47Speaker 2: we should have played over Athletic is another matter, but
- 21:51Speaker 2: you know, it should have been localized a little bit more.
- 21:54Speaker 3: I think the kicker with Dover was well, it's done already,
- 21:57Speaker 3: it's done by it was done by November, and you
- 22:01Speaker 3: don't want fixtures like that to be done in the
- 22:04Speaker 3: first quarter of the season, really, wasn't it.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 22:07Speaker 3: I mean some times you hadn't even played and it
- 22:10Speaker 3: was the same for everyone that. I think the official
- 22:12Speaker 3: reasoning was on those Tuesday nights. I don't know if
- 22:15Speaker 3: it was official, but the murmurings from people around grounds
- 22:19Speaker 3: was that the Ishma League didn't want teams traveling too
- 22:22Speaker 3: far on a Tuesday night, which is which is stupid
- 22:25Speaker 3: in itself because games get canceled and you end up
- 22:28Speaker 3: traveling traveled up to Horshes on a Tuesday night because
- 22:31Speaker 3: of their their cut run and it just feels I mean,
- 22:34Speaker 3: what's the difference. Yeah, it really, what is the difference?
- 22:37Speaker 3: It just feels so and I'm sure Doaver felt the same.
- 22:40Speaker 3: But having them today kick off by was it forty
- 22:43Speaker 3: minutes and you could I think you could have just
- 22:47Speaker 3: got so many more people into that ground if it
- 22:49Speaker 3: was on a Saturday, which is so sad.
- 22:53Speaker 2: I mean, we sold out. Our official capacity at children
- 22:58Speaker 2: Road the Airkline Stadium is four thousand, but because it's
- 23:00Speaker 2: an evening game, obviously the capacity has to be lower.
- 23:03Speaker 2: So we got we have three thousand people in there
- 23:06Speaker 2: for that game against over Athletic and you say it's Saturday.
- 23:11Speaker 2: We we could put the sellout sounds up again being
- 23:14Speaker 2: four thousand people because a lot more people would have
- 23:16Speaker 2: been able to come if it was a Saturday. Then midweek.
- 23:19Speaker 2: I there were lots of people turned away. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 23:23Speaker 2: and that was we're not talking seven forty five. We're
- 23:27Speaker 2: talking just after seven o'clock, you know, so you can
- 23:30Speaker 2: imagine it was it was maham. But yeah, we're talking
- 23:34Speaker 2: more again in a very few months. We're going to
- 23:36Speaker 2: play this one by ub forty. This one's called rat
- 23:39Speaker 2: in the Kitchen and this goes out to me because
- 23:41Speaker 2: I've got a rat in my kitchen and I can't
- 23:44Speaker 2: get the thing. If you if you know how to
- 23:46Speaker 2: kill a rat, let me know, because I'll tell you what.
- 23:49Speaker 2: I am getting really fed up. I've got put two
- 23:51Speaker 2: lots of poisoned down. It's taken the poison and it's
- 23:55Speaker 2: taking the mickey because it's still alive. If you're giving
- 23:58Speaker 2: it a name though, that's the important thing. I called
- 24:00Speaker 2: it you before I called because of this song is
- 24:05Speaker 2: ritt in the Kitchen. We'll be back after this you
- 24:20Speaker 2: before then Rat. Anyway, back to Seasiders Radio and we
- 24:24Speaker 2: we commentate, if you didn't know, every home game, every
- 24:28Speaker 2: away game. We cover folks in the Victor Football Club
- 24:31Speaker 2: and we obviously like to bring an unbiased commentary, not
- 24:38Speaker 2: that the David chairman would think.
- 24:39Speaker 3: That has a good clip that if you haven't seen it,
- 24:42Speaker 3: go and look at that one. It's the first first
- 24:44Speaker 3: interview he does, isn't it this season? The David chairman, Yeah,
- 24:47Speaker 3: it was.
- 24:48Speaker 2: It was so funny. I thought it was a good commentary.
- 24:51Speaker 2: I thought I did well there. I thought I was
- 24:53Speaker 2: restrained until we scored.
- 24:54Speaker 3: I listened, took it back and like the any time,
- 24:55Speaker 3: you can tell it's the folks and commentaries when we score,
- 24:58Speaker 3: which is natural.
- 24:58Speaker 2: I think of every country down the country, we try
- 25:03Speaker 2: to be as independent as we possibly can. I mean,
- 25:05Speaker 2: I know Saturday Dartford, you know city, you know how
- 25:10Speaker 2: unbiased and how great it was. That was all down
- 25:13Speaker 2: to you. Obviously because I wasn't there on the Saturday,
- 25:15Speaker 2: that's probably why. But no, we try to give you
- 25:22Speaker 2: outlook at the game. We can say what we see
- 25:24Speaker 2: and we if we're playing rubbish, we'll tell you we're
- 25:27Speaker 2: playing rubbish. And if we've done well and we've scored
- 25:29Speaker 2: a good goal or good play set of play, we'll
- 25:33Speaker 2: tell you.
- 25:33Speaker 3: I was looking on the folks and Rick to fans
- 25:35Speaker 3: for them, which is a whole whole don't even go
- 25:40Speaker 3: there two hour episodes of that. But I was looking
- 25:43Speaker 3: on there on the match Fred of Lewis, and of
- 25:46Speaker 3: course there's a lot of people on there who listen
- 25:47Speaker 3: to our commentary and didn't go. And I think what's
- 25:50Speaker 3: fascinating about commentary is how different people can take different opinions.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Of the game from what they've heard.
- 25:55Speaker 3: Someone was on there saying we played wayfully according to
- 25:57Speaker 3: the commentary, and someone's on there saying we played well
- 25:59Speaker 3: when the goalkeeper has kept us in it, which I
- 26:02Speaker 3: thought was my summary of the game.
- 26:04Speaker 2: And yeah, considering Lewis gave their man as a match
- 26:09Speaker 2: to their goalkeeper, and you know we give a man
- 26:12Speaker 2: and a match as well when we gave it to
- 26:13Speaker 2: our goalkeeper.
- 26:14Speaker 3: So you know, I just found it interesting how people
- 26:18Speaker 3: can get such different opins of the game from the
- 26:21Speaker 3: same commentary.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a bit of a nothing game, really,
- 26:24Speaker 2: wasn't it. And it wasn't the most exciting game. Both
- 26:29Speaker 2: teams were happy with the point. I think from midway onwards.
- 26:33Speaker 3: I think, yeah, I think we'd have gone in not
- 26:35Speaker 3: looking for a point, but I think we'd have been
- 26:37Speaker 3: happy coming away over point, whereas at the start of
- 26:39Speaker 3: the game Lewis probably would have wanted free. But yeah,
- 26:42Speaker 3: as the game continued, we had some great chances, don't
- 26:46Speaker 3: Yeah name mistake about that.
- 26:48Speaker 2: He's a team could have won, couldn't they. I mean
- 26:49Speaker 2: with the chances they had and the goalkeepers were the
- 26:51Speaker 2: best players on the pitch. Toby ball for Lewis fair player.
- 26:55Speaker 3: I don't know if he's had another world like that
- 26:56Speaker 3: this season, but that save with his dominant hand they
- 27:00Speaker 3: the top of his head out the top corner.
- 27:01Speaker 2: That was that was going in, wasn't it. That was?
- 27:04Speaker 2: That was absolutely fantastic shot.
- 27:06Speaker 3: And that was just one of the five or six
- 27:09Speaker 3: excellent saves he pulled out to keep it. And of
- 27:13Speaker 3: course Johnny Henley for Folks and we were a couple
- 27:15Speaker 3: of really good one on one saves as well.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Yeah, he did, and he kept us in the game.
- 27:20Speaker 2: As we say, it could have been if he went
- 27:22Speaker 2: for the goalkeepers won.
- 27:24Speaker 3: And Jerry keeps saying we've got the best goalkeeper in
- 27:26Speaker 3: the league, and I don't think Johnny's done anything to
- 27:29Speaker 3: prove him wrong.
- 27:30Speaker 2: So no, I just don't think we score enough goals
- 27:32Speaker 2: at the moment.
- 27:33Speaker 5: No.
- 27:33Speaker 3: And it's sort of frustrating, isn't it, Because I think
- 27:37Speaker 3: we were saying all over the form on the start
- 27:39Speaker 3: of the season there was going to be a team
- 27:41Speaker 3: on the end of the battering, and then that came
- 27:44Speaker 3: against and we thought, well, hey, here we go the
- 27:49Speaker 3: kickstart we needed, and then it's sort of just there's
- 27:52Speaker 3: goals in the team. You're looking at Dan Smith, Mattias
- 27:55Speaker 3: Fanamo and these players, but are scoring goals in other
- 27:59Speaker 3: leagues and well last season as well.
- 28:01Speaker 2: But I don't know what's missing. Yeah, it's I think
- 28:07Speaker 2: injuries and suspensions have killed as the early part of
- 28:10Speaker 2: the season. It's no no secret that disciplined was very,
- 28:17Speaker 2: very poor at the start of the season. We've we're
- 28:21Speaker 2: saying referees weren't the best and they could have probably
- 28:25Speaker 2: keep their cards in their pocket for a little bit.
- 28:28Speaker 2: But you know, if you're a you're not professional, you're
- 28:33Speaker 2: semi professional. You've got to stay on the pitch.
- 28:37Speaker 3: Yeah, And it's a fine line, isn't it, between ill
- 28:41Speaker 3: disciplined and being unlucky. I think the only sending off
- 28:46Speaker 3: I can think of the top of my head, which
- 28:49Speaker 3: we looked at and both said sending off was at
- 28:55Speaker 3: Apart from that, I think players could have counted themselves
- 28:58Speaker 3: a little bit unlucky. But then on the other hand,
- 29:01Speaker 3: they all knew how referees were refereeing it from game
- 29:04Speaker 3: one and two this season of how harsh it was.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Classic example we're talking about, obviously was seaside this radio
- 29:14Speaker 2: doing that we sponsor a player, we sponsor Tom Derry
- 29:16Speaker 2: Tinder's number one, Tinder's number one, the sexiest sexiest footballer
- 29:20Speaker 2: in the Samian Premier League or if not the football league.
- 29:22Speaker 2: That's true.
- 29:23Speaker 3: By the way, there's an article he was number one,
- 29:25Speaker 3: number one swiped on Tinder Tom Derry a couple of
- 29:28Speaker 3: years ago. So that's not just our opinion, that's that
- 29:30Speaker 3: is the world's opinion.
- 29:31Speaker 2: In fact, he got sent off earlier for playing Piggy
- 29:34Speaker 2: in the middle. I mean, how stupid was that?
- 29:38Speaker 3: That was our friend Kane Dens today, wasn't it. And
- 29:40Speaker 3: I love Kane honestly I do. He is my favorite
- 29:44Speaker 3: referee because if the games are nothing game, you are
- 29:48Speaker 3: going to get some entertay from it.
- 29:49Speaker 2: You really are like ishm referees.
- 29:53Speaker 3: They like to have make the game about themselves, don't they.
- 29:56Speaker 3: I love referees, I absolutely love it, and I know
- 30:00Speaker 3: managers don't. But if it needs a spark, you're always
- 30:04Speaker 3: going to get you are always going to get it.
- 30:06Speaker 2: But yeah, it was interesting, wasn't it.
- 30:08Speaker 3: I remember talking to Tom I think game into his
- 30:11Speaker 3: suspension again when when we were at Chichester and he
- 30:15Speaker 3: was just he was saying one of his friends was
- 30:17Speaker 3: the guy who was playing it over his head and
- 30:20Speaker 3: they were just keeping the ball one touch and Tom
- 30:23Speaker 3: went to get the ball because they wanted to obviously
- 30:26Speaker 3: restart the game and a free kick and the goalkeeper
- 30:28Speaker 3: kicked it over his head, and then of course he
- 30:30Speaker 3: turns around to his friends and he said he was thinking,
- 30:34Speaker 3: surely he's not going to kick it over my head again,
- 30:36Speaker 3: and he went over and of course the ball goes
- 30:38Speaker 3: back over Tom's head. So he's gone turn around again
- 30:41Speaker 3: trying and go to the goalkeeper and try and take
- 30:43Speaker 3: the ball off him.
- 30:44Speaker 2: And I don't think he touches him. I have to
- 30:48Speaker 2: say their opinion and it went, It did go, but
- 30:54Speaker 2: it did go very very viral, he did. Yeah, it
- 30:56Speaker 2: was on media channels and everything wasn't it was talk
- 31:00Speaker 2: sport as well. Yeah, yeah, but good publicity full of
- 31:04Speaker 2: club as well.
- 31:05Speaker 3: Yeah maybe as a saying, isn't there any publicity is good?
- 31:09Speaker 3: But yeah, I did feel sorry for him, but and
- 31:13Speaker 3: it's his first of a red card in his career
- 31:15Speaker 3: as well. Talking to tit family as well, which it
- 31:19Speaker 3: must have been frustrating because you can see what he
- 31:22Speaker 3: was trying to do, just didn't quite get it right.
- 31:25Speaker 2: No, but you know that that sort of thing, that's
- 31:29Speaker 2: what's happened to us all season, and that we've been
- 31:31Speaker 2: of course another suspension and they don't get eight minutes
- 31:36Speaker 2: on the pitch and subsequently our results have been indifferent.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Share we say, but we I mean, we look where
- 31:43Speaker 2: we are at the moment. We're fifteenth in the league.
- 31:46Speaker 2: We're just four points behind the playoffs. But then again,
- 31:49Speaker 2: if you look on the other hand, I think it's
- 31:51Speaker 2: seven points for relegation, so we're sort of like in
- 31:55Speaker 2: the middle. Now. We really need to kick on now,
- 31:58Speaker 2: starting from today. I think we were looking at it
- 32:00Speaker 2: at the Boxy Do Well. We was looking at the
- 32:03Speaker 2: fixtures coming up and these are four or five games
- 32:06Speaker 2: that we can definitely win, all winnable games. I'm just
- 32:12Speaker 2: getting it up now.
- 32:13Speaker 3: But I think people have to have to remember that
- 32:17Speaker 3: we've had a tough run of injuries and suspensions and
- 32:20Speaker 3: I think it was very very harsh.
- 32:22Speaker 2: People call him for the sacond of the manager. I
- 32:24Speaker 2: really do.
- 32:25Speaker 3: And he's assembled a really good squad and it's it's
- 32:30Speaker 3: just about now. It is cunch time for him now
- 32:33Speaker 3: and he's got to go on a run of games.
- 32:35Speaker 3: You're just saying wing Gate today and then after that
- 32:37Speaker 3: suddenly we're playing teams at the bottom end of the table. Hastings,
- 32:40Speaker 3: it's going to be a tough game, or be at
- 32:41Speaker 3: a local derby. But after that you're going away to
- 32:44Speaker 3: Boos who are in the relegation zone, chess Hunt who
- 32:46Speaker 3: in the relegation zone. Dullitt, you haven't kicked on Canvy
- 32:49Speaker 3: who are bottom end of the table. That's the run
- 32:51Speaker 3: of games. But really to be getting good now if we're.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Going to get into the playoffs this year, because I
- 32:57Speaker 2: don't think winning the league now he's going to be
- 32:59Speaker 2: is beyond. But if we can get into the playoffs,
- 33:04Speaker 2: these are those are the four or five games we
- 33:06Speaker 2: really need to be winning or not losing. You know.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Definitely win the home games and maybe may drop a
- 33:12Speaker 2: point here or there away from home, which is to
- 33:14Speaker 2: be expected. But yeah, I think now, especially starting today,
- 33:19Speaker 2: especially with the game that we had against wing Gate
- 33:21Speaker 2: and Finchley earlier in the season when it all ended
- 33:23Speaker 2: in a little bit of a farce, Yeah, we need
- 33:26Speaker 2: to we need to kick on today and get some
- 33:29Speaker 2: get the points. I don't think Andy Drude is a
- 33:31Speaker 2: team talk today. I think I don't think so either.
- 33:33Speaker 2: I think you know, that's that's team talk enough.
- 33:37Speaker 3: I think the only problem for folks now the playoffs
- 33:40Speaker 3: is it's that fifth playoff spot, isn't it.
- 33:42Speaker 2: The top four? Top four seem to be pulling away,
- 33:45Speaker 2: don't they.
- 33:47Speaker 3: There's five or six teams are all looking at that
- 33:49Speaker 3: that fifth fifth places.
- 33:52Speaker 2: It's going to be tough, but we've we have got
- 33:55Speaker 2: the players to do it.
- 33:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 33:56Speaker 3: Yeah, And that's what I think people are forgetting where
- 34:00Speaker 3: some of the performances haven't been great. Jack Jebb's a
- 34:03Speaker 3: big missed in the middle of the park, but he
- 34:05Speaker 3: was He was back Boxing day, wasn't he. So hopefully
- 34:07Speaker 3: he's back now for the rest of the year. Hopefully
- 34:09Speaker 3: he won't get injured again. When he seems to get injured.
- 34:12Speaker 3: We don't We're not. We're not the same team without him.
- 34:16Speaker 3: And the other thing with Jack Joe coming back in
- 34:20Speaker 3: looking at that bench on Saturday, I think that's the
- 34:22Speaker 3: strongest bench I've seen from a focusing team for a
- 34:24Speaker 3: long time, and that includes nil Ugly era.
- 34:27Speaker 2: Even with the quality and caliber of the players on there. Yeah,
- 34:31Speaker 2: I mean, you look at all the players they even
- 34:34Speaker 2: like you say, even the substitutes they could come on
- 34:36Speaker 2: and they were probably starting most other teams, so but
- 34:40Speaker 2: you were, especially at home, we've we've really disappointed our
- 34:45Speaker 2: own fans at home of this season, I think, and.
- 34:48Speaker 3: I think the big thing about it is the pitch
- 34:51Speaker 3: still and unfortunately it is still a talking point. Obviously
- 34:55Speaker 3: there's that application and scheming to get the free GI pitch,
- 34:58Speaker 3: which would be massive for the club and as well
- 35:00Speaker 3: as the first team, but you can't play the football
- 35:03Speaker 3: that I think Andy Drury wants to play on our
- 35:07Speaker 3: pitch at the moment.
- 35:09Speaker 2: No, it's but you know, we looked at Lewis's pitch.
- 35:13Speaker 2: That's a grass pitch on boxing day. Fantastic surface. I know,
- 35:17Speaker 2: it's sort of like free G grass hybrid. That's it.
- 35:22Speaker 2: That's the word I was looking for. So you know,
- 35:26Speaker 2: it can be done without going the full length with
- 35:30Speaker 2: the four G pitch. But yeah, I think that's the
- 35:34Speaker 2: way forward in most of these teams now, especially non
- 35:37Speaker 2: league to obviously, you know, bring the extre incomeing and
- 35:40Speaker 2: other people using the pitcher to times when the first
- 35:44Speaker 2: team aren't. Lewis's problem though, it's a fascinating one.
- 35:47Speaker 3: They play really good football, don't they they do play
- 35:49Speaker 3: some really good possession football. They haven't won away in
- 35:52Speaker 3: three months really, which is incredible because their their surface
- 35:57Speaker 3: and you can see it. Someone the pitched in Ishmaig
- 36:00Speaker 3: White Hawk for example.
- 36:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a bit like the Palo ground when it's
- 36:05Speaker 2: when it's rained, it's at the cobbmar Wasn't it lazy?
- 36:08Speaker 2: You haven't been to Whitehawk, which I'm assuming a lot
- 36:09Speaker 2: of people have. Yeah, I wouldn't recommend it.
- 36:12Speaker 3: It's literally a slope from one end of the pitch
- 36:15Speaker 3: to the other, and it's literally two games of football,
- 36:17Speaker 3: two halves of football.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely kicking yeah, and that well, it really amazes
- 36:24Speaker 2: me with Whitehawk. I don't sorry to single Whitehawk out,
- 36:27Speaker 2: but they were in the National League South not so
- 36:30Speaker 2: long ago and you look at their ground and you're thinking,
- 36:32Speaker 2: how the hell did they get into the National self
- 36:35Speaker 2: with that ground? I mean, surely, my aunt, if you're
- 36:38Speaker 2: listening to Shirley good Morning, Good morning, she had to
- 36:43Speaker 2: be lifted in by two burly Whitehawk supporters into the
- 36:48Speaker 2: toilet because she can get a wheelchair into the disabled
- 36:52Speaker 2: toilet because it had a step going up into it.
- 36:54Speaker 2: I mean, that's just crazy. In this day and age.
- 36:59Speaker 2: It's the only thing there's no there's no roofs, understand.
- 37:06Speaker 3: It's literally I'm sure people have seen the temporary stand
- 37:10Speaker 3: in quotation marks. It's four of them, pretty much, apart
- 37:13Speaker 3: from maybe the media stand, but apart from then, the
- 37:16Speaker 3: two other stands.
- 37:17Speaker 2: Are it's it's all scaffolding you. And they obviously had
- 37:20Speaker 2: to have them in because they have to have a
- 37:22Speaker 2: certain number of seats to get into the But that's
- 37:26Speaker 2: another story, and we don't we don't want to kick
- 37:27Speaker 2: going on about white Walk. We've hours nearly up, Charlie,
- 37:31Speaker 2: We've only got seven minutes left. I'm about have to
- 37:34Speaker 2: play another quick one because this is a Christmas one.
- 37:37Speaker 2: This one is well where are we? This one's Darling
- 37:40Speaker 2: Love and All Alone on Christmas.
- 37:44Speaker 4: One oh five point nine Radio Folkston.
- 37:47Speaker 3: This a dr Christmas song is brought to you by
- 37:51Speaker 3: Home Instead, who would like to wish all of their
- 37:54Speaker 3: customers are very merry Christmas, unhappy.
- 37:56Speaker 4: New Year, Focuston's radio station, folks.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Then we're going Darling Love All Alone on Christmas. Okay,
- 38:28Speaker 2: we're quickly coming towards that eleven o'clock hour, so we
- 38:34Speaker 2: just have to go sum up. Now, Charlie, we're getting
- 38:38Speaker 2: finished it at home. What are you hoping for? M hmm,
- 38:42Speaker 2: hoping for a win, But you're tough game will be
- 38:46Speaker 2: a tough game.
- 38:47Speaker 4: They are.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Just to point out, they are in the playoffs at
- 38:49Speaker 2: the moment, sponsor, and we're in fifteenth place. So yeah,
- 38:53Speaker 2: lots happened in the times since we played them. Yeah,
- 38:58Speaker 2: I say we we're there every single home and away game.
- 39:02Speaker 2: We're starting today obviously three o'clock. We start at two o'clock,
- 39:06Speaker 2: two point fifty, we start. Excuse me, We obviously like
- 39:10Speaker 2: to bring it to you. And what's the website or
- 39:15Speaker 2: the app? Is it with.
- 39:16Speaker 3: Www dot c sizes Radio dot com is the website
- 39:20Speaker 3: and you can find a link to the commentary on
- 39:23Speaker 3: the homepage of the website.
- 39:24Speaker 2: There you go. See, I didn't even know that I've
- 39:26Speaker 2: I've got on my phone and that's about it. Just
- 39:29Speaker 2: let you know. Charlie's definitely the technical expert with us.
- 39:33Speaker 2: When I started, I used to just have me iPhone
- 39:35Speaker 2: and I used to just talk into that. Now we've
- 39:38Speaker 2: we've we've progressed a little bit more than that. If
- 39:40Speaker 2: if we've got electric, you've got your laptop we've got
- 39:42Speaker 2: a mixing desk which supports club gratefully paid for for sure.
- 39:47Speaker 2: We thank them for that. And yeah, we we bring
- 39:51Speaker 2: you all the commentary and we enjoyed.
- 39:54Speaker 3: It's good fun and we look professional now of the
- 39:57Speaker 3: microphones as well when people people give you two looks
- 40:00Speaker 3: when you said.
- 40:00Speaker 2: There have a microphone instead of a fine definitely. Yeah,
- 40:05Speaker 2: it's all about image as well with it, and you know,
- 40:08Speaker 2: we we love doing it. It's a bit a bit
- 40:11Speaker 2: of a match on Boxing Dome. We have to go
- 40:13Speaker 2: way down to Lewis and like you saying earlier on Tuesday,
- 40:16Speaker 2: we have to go away down to Horsham. But these
- 40:19Speaker 2: you know, these things happen. We we know what league
- 40:21Speaker 2: we're in and we know we have to do it
- 40:22Speaker 2: home in a way, so we do. We do that
- 40:26Speaker 2: for the viewers and listeners of Folks them.
- 40:29Speaker 3: We did really well this season. We haven't missed one
- 40:31Speaker 3: and I think partly and we haven't talked about them.
- 40:34Speaker 3: Josh and Charlie from Folks.
- 40:35Speaker 2: To they've been fantastic and they I mean they they've
- 40:40Speaker 2: supported us in every week, you know they Josh especially
- 40:43Speaker 2: he said that you know anything you need, just let
- 40:45Speaker 2: us know and we will. We'll see if we can
- 40:47Speaker 2: get it for you. You know, there are a few
- 40:50Speaker 2: little bits and pieces we've got in the pipeline that
- 40:51Speaker 2: we might like to have. But yeah, yeah, they have
- 40:55Speaker 2: been very very forthcoming, and we haven't had sponsor as well,
- 41:00Speaker 2: which has been good for them. MN and a match
- 41:02Speaker 2: and supporters club you know obviously paid out for the
- 41:06Speaker 2: mixing desk as well, and they pay for the airtime
- 41:09Speaker 2: that we have to pay for as well. So you know,
- 41:12Speaker 2: it is it's not just us too, that it is
- 41:14Speaker 2: a team effort.
- 41:15Speaker 3: It's a team effort from everyone. And the big thing
- 41:18Speaker 3: with Josh and Charlie's and say took over is we're
- 41:20Speaker 3: now doing home games which just brings a completely different
- 41:23Speaker 3: audience in as well, that these people who love folks
- 41:27Speaker 3: and love following folks in but don't necessarily live in
- 41:30Speaker 3: folksing as well.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Exactly. We've got people, for instance, in Malta, Eachan's in
- 41:35Speaker 2: every game and you know it's not just him, it's
- 41:39Speaker 2: you know, people from all over the world. We get
- 41:41Speaker 2: them from. Oh anyway, last twenty odd seconds, Thank you
- 41:45Speaker 2: very much Charlie for coming in this morning. Thank you
- 41:47Speaker 2: for having me. No it's been a pleasure. I'm sorry.
- 41:49Speaker 2: We haven't really talked about anything else today, but it's
- 41:52Speaker 2: sort of run away with us today. Yeah, and to
- 41:55Speaker 2: be how it goes and seasiders, right. Yeah, we have
- 41:58Speaker 2: a plan and then it never comes together. Okay, final
- 42:01Speaker 2: ten seconds in and say thank you very much to
- 42:04Speaker 2: Charlie for coming in this morning, and now I will
- 42:08Speaker 2: see you again next Saturday.
