Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Right now, we're going to Mitch McCann, who's our US correspondent, Mitch.
- 0:04Speaker 1: So obviously there's a big whistle stop tour going on
- 0:06Speaker 1: Karmala Harris and her new running mate and Waltz, and
- 0:12Speaker 1: you know the base loves this. What are those swing
- 0:14Speaker 1: voters thinking about them?
- 0:16Speaker 2: Well, they are managing to pull in more voters from
- 0:19Speaker 2: across the country because their rallies are huge at the moment.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Tim Wilts and Kamala Harris after Wisconsin this afternoon, Ryan,
- 0:26Speaker 2: where are reported eight thousand people are expecting to hear
- 0:29Speaker 2: from them. I'm told the queue to get a car
- 0:31Speaker 2: park is three kilometers long, and then they're off to Michigan.
- 0:34Speaker 2: It feels like Democrats have this renewed sense of momentum
- 0:38Speaker 2: and energy. Last night you would have seen thousands packed
- 0:41Speaker 2: out this auditorium in Philadelphia to hear from them, both
- 0:45Speaker 2: for the first time as running mates. They both gain
- 0:47Speaker 2: fiery speeches. People in the crowd described the atmosphere as electric.
- 0:51Speaker 2: People compared it to when Barack Obama was running first
- 0:54Speaker 2: in two thousand and eight. Now let's talk about how
- 0:57Speaker 2: this has gone down with the Republicans and Donald Trump. Now,
- 1:01Speaker 2: it was on Fox News this morning, and he said
- 1:03Speaker 2: he was shocked that Kamala Harris chose Waltz, but that
- 1:06Speaker 2: he was thrilled, and he said that Harris didn't choose
- 1:09Speaker 2: the Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro because of his Jewish faith.
- 1:13Speaker 2: And Republicans are testing out a number of new attacks
- 1:16Speaker 2: against the peer, but nothing has really landed yet. They're
- 1:19Speaker 2: calling Tim Walls a far left lunatic or a left
- 1:22Speaker 2: wing radical Ryan.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Yeah, take your pick. Thank you for that, Mitch McKenna,
- 1:26Speaker 1: US correspondent. Things are getting very interesting there.
