- 0:06Speaker 1: Okay, do you want to tell everyone what you got
- 0:09Speaker 1: up to over the weekend because they wouldn't believe it?
- 0:12Speaker 2: Oh that thing, Yes, I went to the Formula one.
- 0:15Speaker 3: See, I wouldn't know that. I didn't know.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Did you happen to get into the Mercedes Benz.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Marque as well?
- 0:24Speaker 2: It's called the Star Lounge?
- 0:25Speaker 1: Oh right, yeah, yeah, you let everyone on bloody socials
- 0:28Speaker 1: know that, didn't you.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Hey, guys, not the humble brag. But here's where I'm at.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Where are you losers? You're commoners?
- 0:38Speaker 2: Yeah. I did have to actually go through the common
- 0:41Speaker 2: area to get to the Paddock Club, and it was
- 0:43Speaker 2: quite dusty and dirty. I did, actually on the buggy
- 0:48Speaker 2: because of the road that you go on is really dusty.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Ended up with sort of dust on the shoes and
- 0:52Speaker 2: stuff like that.
- 0:53Speaker 3: So not those Swave River's shoes that you always were.
- 0:56Speaker 2: I've got a second pair that look the same, so
- 0:58Speaker 2: dusted those off and for the next day.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Yeah, you did give me that text, going, God, I'm
- 1:03Speaker 1: going through a Bogan soup right now.
- 1:05Speaker 4: Now.
- 1:05Speaker 3: I know how you feel common enough.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I asked you what GA stands for because I
- 1:11Speaker 2: saw it a lot when we went.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Then you ask me what VIP stands for. I'm like
- 1:16Speaker 1: see it all the time in the Pokey's room. I've
- 1:19Speaker 1: got a picture of Paul. Can we put that picture up.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Let's have a look at Paul. Oh wow, showing off
- 1:24Speaker 1: the F one. I'm at the F one. Guys, let's
- 1:27Speaker 1: read this. Had an awesome time at the F one today.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Can confidently say it's the best race I've been to.
- 1:35Speaker 1: You are in terms of atmosphere and absolutely loving it.
- 1:39Speaker 1: The weather was perfect.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Great.
- 1:41Speaker 1: That is the sort of update I require from now on.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Paul and his double chins and he's lanyar.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Oh jesus. Well, anyway, I just wanted to give a
- 1:54Speaker 2: quick shout out to Mercedes Bens for putting on drinks
- 1:58Speaker 2: and food. The Star Lounge was amazing, So the Star Lounge.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I want to give a quick shout out to Mercedes
- 2:04Speaker 1: ben S thanks for the invite touts. Thanks to that,
- 2:06Speaker 1: guys really appreciated. Apparently it is because I urinated my
- 2:11Speaker 1: name on the wall last time. I told you last
- 2:13Speaker 1: time that could have been any bodies.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Well, there were plants there, so you were just watering
- 2:17Speaker 2: the plants. Yeah exactly, but yeah, it was it was
- 2:20Speaker 2: an awesome experience and it was interesting in in the paddock.
- 2:25Speaker 2: I tried to get some photos with some of the
- 2:27Speaker 2: F one drivers but pretty much none of them were
- 2:29Speaker 2: interested in talking to me.
- 2:31Speaker 3: No, everyone snubbed you.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Yeah they were like this guy doing so. But in
- 2:36Speaker 2: all seriousness, the F one this year was fantastic. The
- 2:39Speaker 2: weather was really good. There was a huge turnout and
- 2:42Speaker 2: I think it was still capped, like the government still
- 2:45Speaker 2: capped it somehow.
- 2:46Speaker 3: That doesn't sound like Daniel Lander's work at all, but
- 2:50Speaker 3: yeah it was.
- 2:51Speaker 2: It was a wicked event and actually a pretty good race.
- 2:53Speaker 2: With the changes they made to the track, it made
- 2:55Speaker 2: for an actually interesting race and not just a boring
- 2:57Speaker 2: thing where Lewis Hamilton just one of the high time.
- 3:00Speaker 2: How weird is the bouncing thing with the arrow I
- 3:04Speaker 2: like that, Yeah, it's strange. The cars were just literally
- 3:08Speaker 2: pounding along at like three hundred k's an hour, looking
- 3:10Speaker 2: like they were getting ready to hop and skip over
- 3:14Speaker 2: you know, the fence into Albert Park Lake. So yeah,
- 3:17Speaker 2: bloody strange, but a very good event and can't wait
- 3:20Speaker 2: to get back there next year.
- 3:21Speaker 1: It looked like it just looked like a stunning event,
- 3:24Speaker 1: Like what a day. I feel like Melbourne deserved that,
- 3:27Speaker 1: Like after everything everyone's gone through, a proper f and
- 3:30Speaker 1: the way they canceled it last year. Robbie Williams is
- 3:33Speaker 1: still pissed off. But it really just the with the
- 3:38Speaker 1: with the weather and just that there really was a
- 3:40Speaker 1: buzz in the air. It was a brilliant It was
- 3:42Speaker 1: a brilliant.
- 3:43Speaker 3: F one too.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Yeah, it was good. You know. The interesting thing because
- 3:46Speaker 2: I lived just around the corner from there. Each year
- 3:48Speaker 2: I'd be used to the FA teen flying over and
- 3:51Speaker 2: scaring the shit out of everyone. The F one has
- 3:54Speaker 2: actually banned military displays globally, so that's why there was
- 3:59Speaker 2: no Fat team there this year. They had like a
- 4:01Speaker 2: pretty tame display over the weekend. It wasn't really all
- 4:04Speaker 2: that interesting. So yeah, a little bit disappointing that we
- 4:08Speaker 2: can't have that jet that scares children when it's still
- 4:11Speaker 2: like fifty kilometers away.
- 4:13Speaker 5: As an engineer, did that just break your little engineering hot?
- 4:17Speaker 1: Oh?
- 4:18Speaker 2: Good?
- 4:19Speaker 3: One sixty three all.
- 4:23Speaker 2: You really are a bit y.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Wow.
- 4:29Speaker 1: So there you are with your little lanyard and your
- 4:32Speaker 1: box seats and now moving into the ventures of NFTs.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I say, oh, right there, come with Danny lo musk
- 4:41Speaker 1: Let's go to that one.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Hang on, is this.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Whole episode going to be reading back my By the
- 4:46Speaker 2: way I'm putting this on the screen, Do I have
- 4:48Speaker 2: to pay you for this? I should charge your royalty.
- 4:51Speaker 2: That's actually not a bad idea.
- 4:53Speaker 5: I share some I've just acquired an NARF two that
- 4:56Speaker 5: I've collected Lush Lucks. Lush Socks is one of my
- 4:59Speaker 5: favorites us.
- 5:00Speaker 1: All right, that's Paul trying to be cool, but really
- 5:03Speaker 1: he's just expanding his investmentfolio. Yeah, we should talk cars,
- 5:08Speaker 1: that's what we should do. Toyota have been issued with
- 5:11Speaker 1: a bit of a fine, just a bit, just in
- 5:14Speaker 1: the billions. It's to do with diesel filters.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Yes, so just so we don't get sued as well
- 5:21Speaker 2: for the billions. They haven't been issued to find just yet,
- 5:24Speaker 2: the Federal court has ruled that yes, Toyota DPF filters
- 5:29Speaker 2: on a set number of vehicles were indeed faulty, and
- 5:31Speaker 2: they are the high lux Prato and Fortuna. So they're
- 5:34Speaker 2: saying over two hundred and sixty thousand of these vehicles
- 5:39Speaker 2: that were sold in Australia were fitted with faulty diesel
- 5:41Speaker 2: particulate filters and just as a bit of background. What
- 5:44Speaker 2: a diesel particulate filter does is as the particulates go
- 5:48Speaker 2: through the exhaust system, it captures them and then at
- 5:51Speaker 2: certain intervals it increases exhaust temperature and burns all of
- 5:56Speaker 2: these particulates off. And the particulate filter is designed to
- 5:59Speaker 2: do that on its own. What a lot of people
- 6:02Speaker 2: were doing because they wanted to buy a high lux
- 6:04Speaker 2: to be cool, they were basically driving it around and
- 6:07Speaker 2: not driving it for long enough to initiate this burn
- 6:10Speaker 2: and as a result of that, the filter became clogged.
- 6:13Speaker 2: And if you see a high Luck Soprieto or a
- 6:15Speaker 2: Fortuna out on the road that is pumping out white
- 6:18Speaker 2: smoke that smells incredibly bad, that is one of these
- 6:21Speaker 2: vehicles with a faulty DPF. So there is a class
- 6:24Speaker 2: action happening at the moment, and we're seeing here the
- 6:28Speaker 2: case summary. It was trying to quantify the damages and
- 6:32Speaker 2: they reckon the average is seven thousand dollars per car. Now,
- 6:35Speaker 2: if you do the sums on that, it could be
- 6:38Speaker 2: an award of more than two billion dollars if they're successful.
- 6:42Speaker 2: So it's highly unlikely that it will go that far.
- 6:45Speaker 2: But when you think about this and the people's lives
- 6:47Speaker 2: that were affected. If you drive a high lux and
- 6:49Speaker 2: use it as a work vehicle, I mean, who knows
- 6:52Speaker 2: how many thousands of dollars worth of damages you've had
- 6:55Speaker 2: as a result of this vehicle being faulty. And also pedestrians,
- 6:59Speaker 2: if you're driving passed in one of these with a
- 7:01Speaker 2: shagged DPF, you're basically pumping these carcinogens out into the
- 7:08Speaker 2: air that should otherwise have been filtered. So I think
- 7:11Speaker 2: just everyone here needs to get compensated something for this.
- 7:14Speaker 2: In my opinion, would this.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Be something that would have been covered under warranty.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Yeah, look, it is covered under warranty, But from what
- 7:22Speaker 2: we've heard from some owners, Toyota was making them go
- 7:25Speaker 2: back two or three times before they actually deemed the
- 7:27Speaker 2: particular filter to be faulty. Particular filters are incredibly expensive
- 7:31Speaker 2: because they have precious metals inside and they're hard to make.
- 7:34Speaker 2: They're very expensive to maintain if they do break, but
- 7:39Speaker 2: when they work, they work fine. Now what Toyota has
- 7:41Speaker 2: done they've fitted a manual burn switched to these vehicles,
- 7:44Speaker 2: and also basically they've made the burn process happen a
- 7:48Speaker 2: whole lot more often so now when we drive any
- 7:50Speaker 2: of these Toyota cars every fifty one hundred k's or so,
- 7:54Speaker 2: it's initiating a burn. And you can't just stop at
- 7:56Speaker 2: mid burn. You've got to let it finish.
- 7:58Speaker 1: So it sounds like half of these trades the bond
- 8:00Speaker 1: during smoke O. Anyway, got my Monster Energy drink can here,
- 8:08Speaker 1: might initiate my own little burn. I'm extremely jealous of
- 8:15Speaker 1: you because one you got to leave the house and
- 8:19Speaker 1: you also got to hang out with a whole bunch
- 8:22Speaker 1: of the Ford Raptor Rangers or Ford Ranger Raptors. I
- 8:26Speaker 1: should say some big pricing has been released for this.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Yes, I have the chance to head to a place
- 8:30Speaker 2: called Loveday in South Australia. Not a whole lot goes
- 8:33Speaker 2: on there except at the Loveday four by four Park. Yeah,
- 8:37Speaker 2: and this is basically a place where Ford Endurance tests
- 8:41Speaker 2: the Raptor and they do things like jump it. They
- 8:45Speaker 2: basically have a seven kilometer circuit where they go flat
- 8:47Speaker 2: out ten tenths in these cars with roll cages to
- 8:50Speaker 2: performance tune them. And they also use a place in
- 8:54Speaker 2: Alice Springs as well to do the same. So it
- 8:56Speaker 2: was a good experience to be able to go there
- 8:57Speaker 2: and experience the car and get a sort of look
- 9:00Speaker 2: and feel for it. And I enjoyed it so much
- 9:02Speaker 2: that I've decided I'm going to buy one because they
- 9:04Speaker 2: are absolutely unreal. So I've got a dealer helping me
- 9:07Speaker 2: out with getting me one in the first allocation. So
- 9:10Speaker 2: we'll do more content on that once it comes around.
- 9:12Speaker 2: But Ford has announced pricing for the entire Ranger range.
- 9:17Speaker 2: It kicks off from thirty five nine hundred and thirty
- 9:20Speaker 2: and that's for the four x two single cab chassis,
- 9:22Speaker 2: so it's up about a grand. But the interesting thing
- 9:24Speaker 2: is that it rolls all the way through to the Raptor,
- 9:26Speaker 2: which is eighty five four ninety. I genuinely thought it
- 9:29Speaker 2: was going to be another ten grand on top of this.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought it was going to be a little
- 9:33Speaker 3: bit more too.
- 9:34Speaker 1: I've thought it was sort of going to be like
- 9:36Speaker 1: load of mid nine's, and I thought they've done pretty
- 9:39Speaker 1: well with it, to be honest.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's only about five grand more than
- 9:42Speaker 2: the current top spec Raptor, which is called the Raptor X,
- 9:45Speaker 2: and that's a two letered diesel and nothing on this
- 9:48Speaker 2: in comparison to tech and all that sort of stuff.
- 9:51Speaker 2: But the other fascinating thing as well, the premium for
- 9:53Speaker 2: the V six diesel was only around three grand, so
- 9:56Speaker 2: it's pretty exciting to me that customers are going to
- 9:59Speaker 2: be able to head out there buy two LAD diesel
- 10:01Speaker 2: if they want, or just drop another three grand from
- 10:03Speaker 2: XLT upwards and get a V six d SEL that'll
- 10:05Speaker 2: be class leading, so that the pricing is really sharp.
- 10:09Speaker 2: And if you're looking down the lower end of the
- 10:10Speaker 2: range with the XLT, which is their volume at the moment,
- 10:14Speaker 2: and the one that a lot of people are buying,
- 10:16Speaker 2: it's only up seven hundred bucks and you're getting a
- 10:18Speaker 2: whole lot more technology inside the cabin there. So yeah, look,
- 10:22Speaker 2: it is exciting stuff and I really am looking forward
- 10:25Speaker 2: to having a proper drive of these and seeing them
- 10:27Speaker 2: on the road. They'll go on sale from June this
- 10:29Speaker 2: year for the Ranger and July for the Ranger Raptor.
- 10:32Speaker 1: And Paul will be definitely driving one before they even
- 10:35Speaker 1: go on sound, no doubt, thanks to this shonky little
- 10:37Speaker 1: deal you've got with your quote dealer. Let me guess,
- 10:41Speaker 1: was he your plus one in the Marquee?
- 10:47Speaker 3: No comment? Right, moving on, look I agree. I think
- 10:53Speaker 3: it's really well priced.
- 10:54Speaker 1: I'm glad they're priced it like that, exactly what you said,
- 10:57Speaker 1: given the amount of tech and given the jump in
- 10:59Speaker 1: tech and what these cars are generally loaded with. Look,
- 11:03Speaker 1: it's a good deal. They're going to be popular, no doubt.
- 11:05Speaker 1: I wonder how long the weight is on these Well.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Yeah, So what I've heard now from a stock controller
- 11:12Speaker 2: at one of the biggest four dealers in the country
- 11:14Speaker 2: is that with the Raptor, for example, they're getting eight vehicles,
- 11:18Speaker 2: so I know at least ten people that have orders
- 11:23Speaker 2: on one. So I think that these things are going
- 11:26Speaker 2: to be sold out pretty much immediately. And I think
- 11:29Speaker 2: that if you do genuinely want a new Ranger or
- 11:31Speaker 2: a Raptor, you've got to be in there right now
- 11:34Speaker 2: and putting your money down, because if you leave it
- 11:36Speaker 2: any later than this, you could be up for something
- 11:38Speaker 2: like a six or twelve month weight. So yes, get
- 11:40Speaker 2: on to it sooner rather than later.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Hey, should we check out some cars, Yes, let's do it.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Let's go.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Let's start with the Toyota gr Corolla. Photo's got le
- 11:48Speaker 1: or not leaked, but I guess released this week. Looks good.
- 11:52Speaker 1: One point six leter turbo charged, or we'll drive. I
- 11:56Speaker 1: think on this one big breaks. You can see on
- 11:57Speaker 1: the pitchers. They're three hundred horse power two and twenty
- 12:01Speaker 1: killer waits three seventy meters of talked.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Look, it's a beast of a car.
- 12:05Speaker 2: I don't love the way that it looks. I think
- 12:07Speaker 2: it just looks like someone's gone to super cheap Audo
- 12:11Speaker 2: and gone, hey, can I just have every spoiler you
- 12:13Speaker 2: sell and then just put it on this Corolla for me?
- 12:16Speaker 3: Mate? What do you think the bloody audiences? All right?
- 12:18Speaker 3: What do you think the audience is?
- 12:21Speaker 2: Well? What do you think about the three exhausts?
- 12:23Speaker 3: Love?
- 12:23Speaker 1: It should have been more, should have been six, Bring
- 12:28Speaker 1: it on. I love the fact that two of them
- 12:30Speaker 1: are different and they're just like, let's put another different
- 12:32Speaker 1: looking one in the middle.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, Civic Type R has three exhausts as well,
- 12:36Speaker 2: and there's a technical reason for it. So I'm hoping
- 12:37Speaker 2: this is the same all will drive though one point
- 12:40Speaker 2: six later I thought maybe a little bit more than
- 12:43Speaker 2: the one point six just because you know, the Corolla
- 12:46Speaker 2: is a significantly bigger car than the Yarras j Yarras,
- 12:49Speaker 2: and you know the power outputs are not too bad.
- 12:52Speaker 2: But yeah, I just wonder whether this will be as
- 12:54Speaker 2: engaging as the Arras is to drive. Hopefully the seating
- 12:57Speaker 2: positions better. With the arras, you basically sit on top
- 12:59Speaker 2: of the roof because the seed is just so high
- 13:02Speaker 2: off the floor. So yeah, I'll be keen to see
- 13:05Speaker 2: how it goes. We actually had Chris Akinson, former World
- 13:09Speaker 2: Rally Championship driver. He did a GR Yaris up against
- 13:13Speaker 2: a w r X st I at the track for
- 13:16Speaker 2: US and the GI Yaris did surprisingly well compared to
- 13:19Speaker 2: the REXI.
- 13:20Speaker 1: So well, you know me with this WRX, this latest
- 13:24Speaker 1: one just doesn't impress at all.
- 13:26Speaker 2: No, it's not impressive. It's an impressor.
- 13:32Speaker 1: You know what, every time you say something stupid. From
- 13:34Speaker 1: now on, I'm just going to throw up that photo
- 13:35Speaker 1: of you holding the lanyard.
- 13:39Speaker 2: They just leave the jukes to me.
- 13:40Speaker 3: Can we put that up? Thank you? Where should we
- 13:45Speaker 3: go to?
- 13:45Speaker 2: Now?
- 13:45Speaker 1: What should we look at next? Let's roll up another
- 13:47Speaker 1: one bmw X seven.
- 13:49Speaker 2: So you know how sometimes people say that you have
- 13:52Speaker 2: a face for radio.
- 13:54Speaker 3: No, no one's ever that's radio.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Yeah, so the BMWX seven they've kind of gone. Okay,
- 14:05Speaker 2: So normal cars have two sets of headlights. What we'll
- 14:07Speaker 2: do is multiply that by two and then we'll separate them.
- 14:10Speaker 2: It seems to be a trend now for some reason
- 14:13Speaker 2: with car brands where they're just trying to make stuff
- 14:17Speaker 2: look very strange, and the X seven falls into that category.
- 14:21Speaker 2: I think with the right color, it actually doesn't look terrible.
- 14:23Speaker 3: What do you think terrible?
- 14:27Speaker 1: Even in the blue, even in the blue, even in
- 14:29Speaker 1: the black and the charcoal gray, and even white.
- 14:34Speaker 3: I think they all look terrible to me, you know how.
- 14:37Speaker 1: You know, for instance, you get say some of the
- 14:39Speaker 1: Chinese or Korean car brands, and they will try and
- 14:43Speaker 1: take elements of European cars and put them in this.
- 14:46Speaker 3: I feel like this is a European car.
- 14:48Speaker 1: That's like, well, we're going to do the same back
- 14:50Speaker 1: back to you and incorporate a whole bunch of odd
- 14:53Speaker 1: sort of Asian market features on our car.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:57Speaker 1: I feel like they've kind of done that with this car.
- 14:59Speaker 1: It just there's no cohesion about it.
- 15:04Speaker 2: It just okay, hold on, let me throw this at you.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Would you prefer the seventy headlights that it's got or
- 15:10Speaker 2: the giant grill from the M three and M four,
- 15:13Speaker 2: Like if you had to pick one of those because
- 15:15Speaker 2: this has a normal sized grill.
- 15:16Speaker 1: I'm going to say giant grill. I think it would
- 15:20Speaker 1: be hilarious to make this car look even shitter.
- 15:25Speaker 3: So that's where I stand on that.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, look, I don't know. I need to see
- 15:29Speaker 2: it in person. I have a feeling based on the
- 15:31Speaker 2: spy shots we've seen that the seven series is going
- 15:34Speaker 2: to look exactly like this as well, which is highly
- 15:37Speaker 2: disappointing because the seventh series always had a classy look
- 15:40Speaker 2: to it. It was never something they were daring or
- 15:43Speaker 2: outrageous when it came to styling. So yeah, hopefully it
- 15:47Speaker 2: looks better in person, and I hope they slow down
- 15:50Speaker 2: with all the wacky stuff that they're doing at the moment.
- 15:52Speaker 3: All right, last one? Where should we go with this one?
- 15:55Speaker 2: Okay? Last one? I've sent you a link. I want
- 15:58Speaker 2: you to click on the click on the link. I
- 16:01Speaker 2: promise it's work safe.
- 16:02Speaker 1: And I'm just reading the link now. Paul Marrick slash
- 16:06Speaker 1: noodles of doodles what.
- 16:09Speaker 3: He's sending me? We can't send this stuff anymore?
- 16:13Speaker 2: All right?
- 16:16Speaker 3: Whoa is that not the most What is that a ram?
- 16:22Speaker 2: Yes? So beneath the skin. The as Non Palladium is
- 16:25Speaker 2: a one point five million dollar Italian made hyper luxury suv.
- 16:34Speaker 2: It is the most bizarre thing I've ever seen. So
- 16:36Speaker 2: my mate Damien Reid, he's a journalist based in Dubai,
- 16:39Speaker 2: he went to this reveal event and the first sale
- 16:42Speaker 2: has gone to a chic yeah, businessman. So it's based
- 16:48Speaker 2: on the RAM fifteen hundred Limited. They then strip it
- 16:51Speaker 2: all down and then make it into a luxury four
- 16:54Speaker 2: seater off road saloon. And the best bit is with
- 16:58Speaker 2: the engine. What they've done. They've taken the RAM fifteen
- 17:01Speaker 2: hundred out, replace the five point seven liter V eight
- 17:04Speaker 2: and put in an engine from the TRX, So it's
- 17:08Speaker 2: it's then beefed up to six point four liters with
- 17:11Speaker 2: a pair of turbochargers. That is even though the TRX
- 17:15Speaker 2: engine is already supercharged.
- 17:17Speaker 3: I love it.
- 17:20Speaker 2: It's insane.
- 17:21Speaker 3: I love this car.
- 17:24Speaker 2: It is insane. And have a look at the interior.
- 17:26Speaker 2: It is just the most remarkable thing I've ever seen.
- 17:30Speaker 2: It's it is truly comical. So yeah, I would love
- 17:34Speaker 2: to drive this. I don't know where. I think you
- 17:37Speaker 2: could only drive it in the UAE because anywhere else
- 17:39Speaker 2: it would cost you an incredible amount of money to
- 17:42Speaker 2: fuel it.
- 17:42Speaker 3: But wow, look at that, Look at those seats. Yeah,
- 17:47Speaker 3: we killed several crocodile. Don't make this for real.
- 17:54Speaker 2: So yeah, please head to car expert dot com today
- 17:56Speaker 2: you and just look up as non palladium to have
- 17:59Speaker 2: a look at what looking at now it is. It
- 18:02Speaker 2: is truly a remarkable thing.
- 18:03Speaker 1: So I don't know about the back seats though. That
- 18:06Speaker 1: looks like a bloody couch and a cheap hotel. Actually
- 18:09Speaker 1: it looks very familiar. It looks like a casting couch
- 18:12Speaker 1: I've seen somewhere.
- 18:14Speaker 2: The travel lodge. Yeah, it is weird how the seats
- 18:17Speaker 2: are like right next to each other. Normally in these
- 18:18Speaker 2: uber luxury cars there's like a giant divider between the
- 18:21Speaker 2: rear passengers. But this is like you're basically up against
- 18:25Speaker 2: whoever is next to you, which I guess depends who's
- 18:28Speaker 2: next to you. But it may not be such a
- 18:29Speaker 2: good thing.
- 18:30Speaker 1: I have a feeling you don't like to be hugged,
- 18:33Speaker 1: not by you. No, come on a little bit of
- 18:36Speaker 1: a tickle every now and then. You love a BELLI
- 18:39Speaker 1: rub It's the only thing that calms you down. You
- 18:48Speaker 1: called me up and be like, oh, I've had another
- 18:49Speaker 1: fight with my missus camire Yes, Scully wag and then
- 18:53Speaker 1: you do a pool on.
- 18:54Speaker 3: The carpet and it's very awkward. Um, should we talk
- 18:58Speaker 3: here at EB six Yes? Oh there's your famous yes.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Roll it sexy voiceover lady from New Zealand.
- 19:07Speaker 6: The twenty twenty two Kia EV six six not six six.
- 19:16Speaker 6: I'm still working on it. Prices start from just over
- 19:20Speaker 6: sixty seven thousand dollars for the base rear wheel drive,
- 19:23Speaker 6: or the one we reviewed, which was.
- 19:26Speaker 1: All will drive GT line round about eighty two thousand dollars.
- 19:30Speaker 1: This is the sibling to the Yundai Ionic five. You
- 19:34Speaker 1: know what's weird? Before we talk about this, I saw
- 19:37Speaker 1: another car journo compare this obviously to the Ionic five
- 19:41Speaker 1: and saying that how similar they are.
- 19:43Speaker 3: They basically share the same tech.
- 19:45Speaker 1: To me, like, we kind of savage the Ionic five
- 19:49Speaker 1: quite a bit.
- 19:51Speaker 2: I couldn't.
- 19:52Speaker 1: I honestly think you couldn't get these cars further apart.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I completely agree. I mean that, yes, they share
- 19:58Speaker 2: a lot of technology, but it's all beneath the skin
- 20:00Speaker 2: because they look completely different. Inside, they're completely different, And
- 20:06Speaker 2: I found to drive that they really weren't that similar either.
- 20:09Speaker 2: So yeah, I understand the logic of it being comparable,
- 20:14Speaker 2: but ultimately the key of very much stands on its own.
- 20:17Speaker 3: I agree. I look, I was. I was really impressed
- 20:20Speaker 3: with this car. I love it.
- 20:22Speaker 1: I genuinely love it, to the point I actually asked
- 20:24Speaker 1: the car I asked her if I could buy the
- 20:26Speaker 1: Press car.
- 20:27Speaker 3: I loved it.
- 20:28Speaker 2: I really go for you.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Well, here's the deal, here's my reasons for doing so.
- 20:33Speaker 1: How long do you think you're going to have to
- 20:34Speaker 1: wait for one of these cars?
- 20:36Speaker 2: Well, it's like over a year, one to two years.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I called up two dealers. One was a drug dealer,
- 20:42Speaker 1: the other one was just a local. And I can't
- 20:46Speaker 1: play this for legal reasons. Unfortunately, our lawyers really sort
- 20:49Speaker 1: of told me not to. But I literally said, if
- 20:53Speaker 1: I put down a deposit today, how long am I
- 20:55Speaker 1: going to wait for this car? He said, two to
- 20:57Speaker 1: three years, twenty two model in twenty twenty five. Where
- 21:04Speaker 1: tech's gonna change, stuff's gonna move on. Yeah, just insane.
- 21:09Speaker 1: There's the weird thing is about this is there's such
- 21:13Speaker 1: popularity for it, such a demand for it. Why have
- 21:16Speaker 1: they taken it to market? If they're putting a curfew
- 21:18Speaker 1: on numbers.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Look, the problem is that it's a curfew that's kind
- 21:24Speaker 2: of put in place overseas because at the moment they
- 21:27Speaker 2: have all these laws around emissions in Europe and they're
- 21:30Speaker 2: directing all of their stock to Europe in the US,
- 21:32Speaker 2: so there's plenty of cars there. Australia is so low
- 21:35Speaker 2: on the pecking order in terms of emissions requirements that
- 21:38Speaker 2: Kia simply says, well, why would I send any more
- 21:40Speaker 2: of the stock that I'm selling lots of to Europe
- 21:42Speaker 2: where I have to sell it to Australia where I
- 21:44Speaker 2: don't have to sell it and they can just have
- 21:46Speaker 2: a little bit. So unfortunately, geographically and with our emissions laws,
- 21:51Speaker 2: we're kind of getting screwed at the moment in terms
- 21:52Speaker 2: of allocations. But in saying that Tesla has no issue
- 21:57Speaker 2: sending us, you know, thousands of cars a month, So that's.
- 22:01Speaker 1: A record for you. It took us to sort of
- 22:03Speaker 1: three quarters of the show for you to mention it.
- 22:06Speaker 2: But yeah, in all seriousness, it is simply the car
- 22:08Speaker 2: companies just not really putting their best foot forward. One
- 22:12Speaker 2: of the things I like with the EV six over
- 22:14Speaker 2: the Ionic five is that you actually have. It has
- 22:17Speaker 2: the same vehicle to load systems. You can power things
- 22:19Speaker 2: from the outlet, but with the key you actually have
- 22:22Speaker 2: a power point inside the car between the two rear
- 22:24Speaker 2: passenger seats, whereas with the key under you have to
- 22:26Speaker 2: plug it in outside.
- 22:28Speaker 1: So it's like an adapter that you put in well,
- 22:31Speaker 1: I guess where you charge it. It's a what do
- 22:34Speaker 1: they call powder load. It's kind of a different adapter, right,
- 22:37Speaker 1: great car. In terms of size, it's similar to the
- 22:39Speaker 1: It's similar I guess to the Ionic five, where it
- 22:42Speaker 1: looks a whole lot smaller than it actually is. I'm
- 22:46Speaker 1: trying to think of size comparison. This would be very
- 22:49Speaker 1: similar to maybe a Keia Sorrento flat wide, very similar
- 22:54Speaker 1: looking to Paul in that respects.
- 22:56Speaker 2: I was just about to say, it looks like you
- 22:58Speaker 2: damn it all.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Right, Chod, come on twenty inch wheels. I just think
- 23:03Speaker 1: the front looks badass. I absolutely love it. I love
- 23:06Speaker 1: the flush door handles on it. How they I mean,
- 23:08Speaker 1: I know that's a common thing, but it does look cool.
- 23:11Speaker 1: It looks really great. The interior is brilliant. It's I
- 23:15Speaker 1: think parts of it are made from plastic bottles and stuff.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Like that, like they did with the Ionic five.
- 23:20Speaker 1: It's a bit of a who gives a shit, but
- 23:22Speaker 1: I think they're kind of doing it as a nice
- 23:23Speaker 1: pr move.
- 23:25Speaker 3: The back looks really cool. To be honest, this entire car.
- 23:29Speaker 1: When I saw it, like let's say, six months ago,
- 23:32Speaker 1: I wasn't convinced at all at first sighting photos, I
- 23:35Speaker 1: was like, nah, but damn, when you're in front of it,
- 23:38Speaker 1: it's got presence.
- 23:39Speaker 3: It's got serious presence. The back of it.
- 23:42Speaker 1: I remember thinking, God, the back looks ugly as hell,
- 23:44Speaker 1: but when you're there, it's really cool. It's got that
- 23:47Speaker 1: kind of DBX vibe about it. The I don't know
- 23:50Speaker 1: how to describe this, like the kind of rear three
- 23:54Speaker 1: D diamond things on the back.
- 23:56Speaker 3: It's kind of you know where the indicators are, do
- 23:58Speaker 3: you know what I mean?
- 23:59Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 24:00Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I mean that looks cool.
- 24:02Speaker 1: At first glance, you think it's just kind of part
- 24:04Speaker 1: of the plastic and stuff like that, but it's actually functional,
- 24:08Speaker 1: so there you go, the kind of duct tail swoop
- 24:10Speaker 1: at the back.
- 24:11Speaker 3: I just think it looks really cool.
- 24:13Speaker 1: It's just got a presence about it that no other
- 24:16Speaker 1: car has got going for it. Right now and wise
- 24:21Speaker 1: it's look. I loved it. I genuinely love the drive.
- 24:24Speaker 1: I do have a question though, Yeah go on, I
- 24:27Speaker 1: am really looking forward to the GT version of this
- 24:29Speaker 1: because that's going to be insane. But one thing I
- 24:32Speaker 1: did notice is the way evs accelerate. How it's so
- 24:37Speaker 1: smooth and generally has one gear. What's your take on
- 24:42Speaker 1: the power that these things have. One thing I noticed
- 24:45Speaker 1: when I jumped in this after a week or two
- 24:50Speaker 1: to drive in my Stinger, you realize how well how
- 24:55Speaker 1: much intuition you get generally from a traditional car. Yep, sound,
- 25:02Speaker 1: feel everything, you can gauge speed, you can feel speed.
- 25:06Speaker 1: This apart from, like you know, the sort of pinning back,
- 25:10Speaker 1: I guess definitely holds a point because you don't realize
- 25:12Speaker 1: how fast you're going in these.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's part of the problem. Like you said,
- 25:17Speaker 2: normal cars you have noise, you can kind of get
- 25:19Speaker 2: an idea of what's going on, but here you don't
- 25:21Speaker 2: have any of that. And I think that if you
- 25:23Speaker 2: remove the speedo, you would not realize how quick you're
- 25:27Speaker 2: actually going in comparison to an internal combustion car, So
- 25:31Speaker 2: it'll become a problem down the track. Because if you
- 25:34Speaker 2: have a think about something like a Tesla Model three
- 25:37Speaker 2: Performance and how quick that is. If you basically go
- 25:41Speaker 2: ten or fifteen years down the track where a teenager
- 25:44Speaker 2: is going to buy this like they would buy a
- 25:46Speaker 2: Commodore now or something like that, you can end up
- 25:49Speaker 2: with some very quick cars on the market that young
- 25:52Speaker 2: people have access to. And it's going to be a
- 25:55Speaker 2: very different landscape because the speed you can get now
- 25:57Speaker 2: in some of these high end cars was reserved for
- 26:00Speaker 2: supercars and hypercars, and we're now going to be handing
- 26:02Speaker 2: these down to a young generation. I'm just curious to
- 26:05Speaker 2: see how that's going to play out in terms of
- 26:07Speaker 2: the road toll and how people end up driving in
- 26:10Speaker 2: the future when these things are so quick.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Avoid shortlist by what do you stand?
- 26:18Speaker 2: Okay, so it depends on the weight. If you could
- 26:20Speaker 2: get one tomorrow or had to wait a maximum if
- 26:23Speaker 2: let's say six or twelve months, I would buy one
- 26:25Speaker 2: because I think they're a really good car. They have
- 26:28Speaker 2: great technology inside. The charging speed is fantastic. It's capable
- 26:32Speaker 2: of doing like two hundred and thirty kilowats of charging
- 26:35Speaker 2: or something so and.
- 26:35Speaker 1: This stage too, the range is really good as well.
- 26:39Speaker 1: I think it depends on the model, but roughly between
- 26:42Speaker 1: four hundred and eighty and say five hundred and twenty
- 26:44Speaker 1: kilometers you'll get depending on the model.
- 26:47Speaker 3: The range is really good.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean from that side of things, it's good.
- 26:50Speaker 2: But yeah, I don't know that i'd wait three years
- 26:52Speaker 2: for one, because you know, like you said, by the
- 26:55Speaker 2: time this rolls around, technology will have this segment. Technology
- 26:59Speaker 2: is volting so quickly that it's just impossible to really
- 27:04Speaker 2: know where we're going to go. So yeah, I think
- 27:06Speaker 2: it just depends on the wait time. If one pops up,
- 27:09Speaker 2: they're definitely worth the money, But yeah, would you wait
- 27:12Speaker 2: that long for one? I just don't know.
- 27:14Speaker 1: The same again, and I think we kind of have
- 27:16Speaker 1: to take their stance on the car for what it
- 27:19Speaker 1: is right here, right now. The wait time is unfortunate
- 27:22Speaker 1: and it seems to be affecting everyone.
- 27:24Speaker 3: Two to three years.
- 27:25Speaker 1: In my view when I heard that is just it's
- 27:29Speaker 1: kind of unacceptable.
- 27:30Speaker 2: I mean, hold, who's the second you call up a
- 27:33Speaker 2: dealer and they go, okay, it's a two to three
- 27:34Speaker 2: year wait, Who in their right mind goes, oh, excellent,
- 27:36Speaker 2: Well just pop my name down here as a deposit
- 27:39Speaker 2: and I'll see you in two or three years.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Say they get an allocation of six hundred per year.
- 27:44Speaker 1: They've got an allocation of six hundred per year that
- 27:47Speaker 1: has exceeded significantly to the point where it's they've taken
- 27:51Speaker 1: deposits as it stands for eighteen hundred cars. So he's
- 27:55Speaker 1: saying three years in theory, given that they've got an
- 28:00Speaker 1: allocation of six hundred per year. So yeah, three years.
- 28:04Speaker 1: But who knows. Things could change somehow, somehow they could
- 28:09Speaker 1: get a whole shitload of sevconductors or an extra factory
- 28:13Speaker 1: or whatever.
- 28:14Speaker 2: But also, there's one hundred Kia dealers in Australia or thereabouts,
- 28:17Speaker 2: so you have to divide the stuff that's coming in
- 28:20Speaker 2: by one hundred dealers. There's got a lot of stock
- 28:23Speaker 2: to go around, you know what I mean.
- 28:24Speaker 1: No, absolutely, Look, I think as it stands by this car,
- 28:28Speaker 1: I loved it. It deserves all the accolades it's getting. Obviously,
- 28:32Speaker 1: Europe and the US scat to see these cars and
- 28:35Speaker 1: get to review these cars before we do. And there
- 28:38Speaker 1: was a lot of good talk about this, and so
- 28:42Speaker 1: I was weary because I saw that with the.
- 28:45Speaker 3: Five and then I jumped in. I was like, oh,
- 28:47Speaker 3: what is this?
- 28:48Speaker 1: Yeah, look, I believe it deserves everything that's getting. I
- 28:50Speaker 1: genuinely love this car. I think it's great. If you
- 28:54Speaker 1: can buy it the GT line, the all wheel drive,
- 28:57Speaker 1: you're just going to get the boot. You're not going
- 28:59Speaker 1: to get really in the front because of that second engine.
- 29:02Speaker 2: It's twenty seven leaders.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, well you'll get the charging cable in the front.
- 29:07Speaker 3: But that's about it. I love it.
- 29:08Speaker 1: I love it when it's specked up and they've thrown
- 29:10Speaker 1: everything at it. So yeah, great car. Let's just hope
- 29:14Speaker 1: they can get one. Let's just hope they can get
- 29:16Speaker 1: these on the road.
- 29:17Speaker 2: The only problem, Hey, by.
- 29:19Speaker 1: The way, do you like constantly walk around with that
- 29:24Speaker 1: lanyard on.
- 29:27Speaker 3: Like or do you alternate?
- 29:28Speaker 1: Do you sometimes go like the F one Paddock Pass
- 29:32Speaker 1: and then other days you go like the AMG.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Like I said before, you are a bitch. Well, can
- 29:44Speaker 2: we talk about some some reviews that have been left
- 29:48Speaker 2: for us?
- 29:49Speaker 3: We do fan mail at the end of each episode.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Lately, No, but these are good then, okay, because it
- 29:56Speaker 1: always like it always puts me in a bad mood,
- 29:58Speaker 1: especially when last time, I.
- 30:00Speaker 4: Don't bloody care for his humor of that Gordon character Genant.
- 30:04Speaker 4: I don't care for his smutty yum jo. I'm here
- 30:08Speaker 4: for the automobiles. No friggin' locker boys, Hume.
- 30:14Speaker 2: So thankfully, none of none of that accurate feedback. But
- 30:19Speaker 2: we had one here from goose Oz, who wrote best
- 30:23Speaker 2: car podcast in Australia. That's all I got to say about.
- 30:26Speaker 3: It, Giesse.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Goose guess us little legend, true facts.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Another one here from says Ann who wrote my new
- 30:38Speaker 2: favorite podcast. My husband and I stumbled across this podcast
- 30:42Speaker 2: on a road trip and it's brilliant, informative yet hilariously
- 30:46Speaker 2: funny too. Can't wait for more. I assume she's talking
- 30:49Speaker 2: about me. Yeah, so excellent. Keep the feedback coming. So
- 30:54Speaker 2: if you listen to us on a platform somewhere and
- 30:56Speaker 2: there's a button there that says leave a rating, click
- 30:59Speaker 2: that and then five stars as long as it's out
- 31:01Speaker 2: of five, and leave a witty comment for us to
- 31:05Speaker 2: read out later on. And you can also email us
- 31:07Speaker 2: at contact at the Drive Show dot com. Today we
- 31:09Speaker 2: both see those.
- 31:09Speaker 3: I got an.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Awesome email from a listener and I reckon, I'm not
- 31:14Speaker 1: going to read it out. I promised him would I'd
- 31:17Speaker 1: read it out this app, but I'm going to save
- 31:19Speaker 1: it for the next one because he brings so much
- 31:23Speaker 1: to the tables, so many amazing questions, and yeah, we'll
- 31:26Speaker 1: go through it.
- 31:27Speaker 3: We'll go through it.
- 31:28Speaker 1: I forget his name, but I promised him i'd go
- 31:31Speaker 1: through this email this app, and I'm sorry we're not,
- 31:33Speaker 1: but we'll definitely do it the next one.
- 31:35Speaker 2: We actually got an email from Peter who was asking
- 31:38Speaker 2: about by D because we spoke about that the last
- 31:40Speaker 2: episode where he went to the launch and there was
- 31:42Speaker 2: the lady with the dog. He said he saw one
- 31:45Speaker 2: on the road a couple of days ago in Melbourne
- 31:47Speaker 2: and said it looks pretty good in the flesh. He
- 31:50Speaker 2: said he's looking forward to ower review, but he had
- 31:52Speaker 2: some questions here. He wrote, it all works through my
- 31:55Speaker 2: car and even then only a select few stores. Sounds
- 31:57Speaker 2: a bit suss, I reckon. They have actually signed on
- 32:01Speaker 2: ap Egers though, which is Australia's biggest dealer groups. I
- 32:04Speaker 2: suspect there will be some integration into dealership somewhere, but yeah,
- 32:08Speaker 2: the whole my car thing's weird. He also wrote there's
- 32:11Speaker 2: no prefusion to trade in your existing car, which is
- 32:14Speaker 2: a really good point, and then he wrote, will the
- 32:16Speaker 2: local variant have a spare wheel? Now that's an interesting
- 32:20Speaker 2: question because a lot of the time we publish reviews,
- 32:23Speaker 2: people go, oh, does it have a spear wheel? If
- 32:25Speaker 2: you live in the country, it's probably something you want
- 32:26Speaker 2: to know about. And a space saver, I can tell
- 32:29Speaker 2: you they're a pain in the ass if you're in
- 32:31Speaker 2: the middle of nowhere and you stick it on the
- 32:32Speaker 2: car and you can only do eighty k's an hour
- 32:34Speaker 2: until you get to your nearest my car to have
- 32:36Speaker 2: it fixed and buy your BYD.
- 32:38Speaker 3: So you know what I did.
- 32:39Speaker 1: That was one of the things when I was opening
- 32:41Speaker 1: the boot and the old woman with the dog was like,
- 32:43Speaker 1: oh fu, and I said, stop looking at my bottom, lady.
