- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Well, it's actually good afternoon.
- 0:32Actually, it's good evening. If I'm accurate beyond measure,
- 0:37the girls are being tucked in right now and very noisy because
- 0:40they're all trying to find their ideal spot and I am shooting in
- 0:44the evening. That way it can be up and bright
- 0:47and early ready for everybody. So today we are talking about
- 0:51the snooze button on your alarm. This snooze button.
- 0:55OK, so I don't wake up with an alarm.
- 0:57Full disclosure, I just wake up. And I know that's weird, but
- 1:00there are those of us out here who don't need an alarm, and I'm
- 1:03one of those people. I have an alarm.
- 1:05I own an alarm. I put it beside the bed.
- 1:08However, I don't use it because I just set my internal alarm
- 1:11that says, hey, wake up here and boom, I wake up now the alarm,
- 1:16we're talking about waking up because so many people are
- 1:20looking for extra time right now to say I need quiet time to get
- 1:24this done and I never have the time.
- 1:26Well, my opinion is you make time for what you want.
- 1:30And when I was going, you know, just this past summer when I was
- 1:34writing the book, you know, the emotional dilemma of leadership,
- 1:37I was adamant that I was going to get that book done.
- 1:40And I was up every single day early.
- 1:42And when I say early, I was up at 4:00 AM and I would just wake
- 1:46up at like 355 three, you know, 54 O five.
- 1:53I was waking up at 4:00 AM every single day.
- 1:55And that gave me roughly 2 hours of time before I had to start
- 2:00getting everything else ready in my world.
- 2:03And it was magical. And I had actually transformed.
- 2:06I was normally waking up early anyway.
- 2:08I would normally wake up at like 550, but this was like adding
- 2:11that extra hour was making a tremendous difference and I
- 2:14actually couldn't believe what a difference it was making.
- 2:17So I, I just incorporated it into my life now pretty much
- 2:23every day I wake up anywhere from 4:00 to 4:30 and I'm up and
- 2:27I'm out early and I'm, you know, doing whatever I'm working on
- 2:32for writing, for blogs, for content, making plans for what
- 2:37we're, we have coming up in the business, working on the farm,
- 2:40planning the garden. That's something I'm currently
- 2:43doing, sketching out the layout of the garden and all of that
- 2:46stuff. So the point of talking about
- 2:49this getting up early is how do you gain that time?
- 2:52But really, I want to point something out to everybody.
- 2:55We all have the same 24 hours to work.
- 2:58We've all agreed upon this concept of time and they're the
- 3:0124 hours in it. Now, here's what's tricky.
- 3:03That's that alarm. That alarm clock comes with a
- 3:06snooze button. And when you hit that snooze
- 3:09button, what is actually happening?
- 3:11Like when you stop and think about it for a second, what are
- 3:14you doing when you hit the snooze button?
- 3:17You are. You are basically delaying the
- 3:19inevitable. All you're doing is delaying
- 3:21getting up and getting going. And you are ensuring you are
- 3:26ensuring that you 90% of the time are going to stress
- 3:30yourself out because you slept in past when you wanted to.
- 3:33Because here's the trick. If you set the alarm at a
- 3:35certain time when you were in your right way of thinking, in
- 3:39your right mind, in your abundant mind, in your moving
- 3:41forward mind, you were saying I have to get up at this time in
- 3:46order to make this happen. And you set a time, you picked
- 3:48it and you put it out there. And then the alarm goes off and
- 3:51you're like, Oh no, Oh no, I'm just going to shut that down.
- 3:56And before you know it, you're back to sleep and you're not
- 3:59doing what you intended to do. You're acting into what you
- 4:02decided to do in a moment when you were not in the right mind.
- 4:05You are now in the sleepyhead and you're letting the wrong
- 4:08emotion choose what you're doing next.
- 4:11And that simple act of pushing that button says so much.
- 4:16My friends, I cannot, I cannot stress to you how much it says
- 4:20about where your mind is and what is happening so and where
- 4:24your emotions are. So how do you break this cycle?
- 4:27Well, first and foremost, when you set the clock, are you
- 4:32setting your clock for a time that says, hey, I'm setting this
- 4:36and I know without question, I know without question that I am
- 4:42needing to get up at this time. I want to get up at this time
- 4:45and I'm going to commit to getting up at this time.
- 4:49So if you're not committing to it, then why do it?
- 4:53Why not? Why not just say screw it, I'm
- 4:56not even going to set the clock. So if you set the clock, commit
- 5:00to it in your head. Say this is what's happening,
- 5:03I'm doing this, set the clock. And then before you fall asleep,
- 5:07remind yourself, I do not lie to myself.
- 5:10I tell myself the truth. If I want other people to tell
- 5:14me the truth, then I therefore have to tell myself the truth.
- 5:17Because if I'm not telling myself the truth, then guess
- 5:20what? Other people have permission to
- 5:22lie to me as well. So you can see how this works.
- 5:26If you're telling a lie to yourself, this is what will show
- 5:29up. So give it a try, see if that
- 5:32helps you get up early and buy some some time for yourself.
- 5:36That is truly time for you, time you can get out there and do the
- 5:39things you want to do and no lying to yourself.
- 5:43Be truthful about it, set the intention and do it.
- 5:45And it's life changing, I promise.
- 5:48All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I
- 5:50will see you tomorrow. Bye.
