But today, let's talk about school subjects. These words are super useful. Luna: Oh, like math, science, that kind of thing? In French? Lucas: Exactly. The first one is les mathématiques. That means math. Let's say it together: les mathématiques. Luna: les mathématiques. Lucas: Perfect. Now, if you want to say 'I like math', you say: J'aime les mathématiques. Try that. Luna: J'aime les mathématiques. Lucas: Great. Next, le français. That's French, the language we're learning. Luna: le français. Lucas: And 'I like French' is J'aime le français. Go ahead. Luna: J'aime le français. Lucas: Awesome. Next, l'anglais. That's English. Notice it starts with a vowel, so it's l'anglais. Luna: l'anglais. Lucas: Say 'I like English': J'aime l'anglais. Luna: J'aime l'anglais. Lucas: Good. Now, l'histoire – history. Luna: l'histoire. Lucas: J'aime l'histoire. Luna: J'aime l'histoire. Lucas: And finally, les sciences – science. It's plural, les sciences. Luna: les sciences. Lucas: J'aime les sciences. Luna: J'aime les sciences. Lucas: You're doing so well. Now, let's practice a tiny conversation. Luna, if I ask you 'Quelle est ta matière préférée?' – what's your favorite subject? – how would you answer? Luna: Hmm, I think I'd say 'J'aime les mathématiques.' But maybe I want to say 'I prefer history.' How would I say that? Lucas: Good question. You can say 'Je préfère l'histoire.' Let's hear you. Luna: Je préfère l'histoire. Lucas: Perfect. So today we learned: les mathématiques, le français, l'anglais, l'histoire, and les sciences. Luna: That's five subjects. I feel like I can talk about school now.
