Latest / Outspoken the Podcast / Mikaela Testa & Emilee Hembrow Clash at the Outback Steakhouse
Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:05Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:09Speaker 1: Kate Torber and coming up on today's show. The beef
- 0:12Speaker 1: between Michaela Tester and Emily Hembrough boils over at the
- 0:15Speaker 1: Outback Steakhouse.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Georgia Riches contemplates.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Quitting social media and Sarah's Day's injured thumb. But first,
- 0:23Speaker 1: Molly May has broken the internet after strutting her stuff
- 0:26Speaker 1: at the L'Oreal Paris Fashion Week Amy, I felt like
- 0:29Speaker 1: a proud mum when I clicked on her Instagram story
- 0:31Speaker 1: and saw that she actually made it to the runway
- 0:33Speaker 1: this time. Yeah, because she famously turned down the opportunity
- 0:36Speaker 1: just last year to walk in the same show. And
- 0:39Speaker 1: this was featured in her documentary. Let's have a listen
- 0:42Speaker 1: to what Molly said at the time.
- 0:44Speaker 3: I couldn't relate more to what Molly said about being
- 0:46Speaker 3: postpartum and when do you stop counting yourself out as
- 0:50Speaker 3: being postpartum?
- 0:50Speaker 2: Because I'm 15 months and I'm.
- 0:52Speaker 4: Like, But still, it just seems like such a big
- 1:09Speaker 4: life change. I'm getting used to it.
- 1:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Well, she did what every postpartum mum normally does and
- 1:13Speaker 1: she's gone the chop. So that was the other thing
- 1:15Speaker 1: that shocked people. She strutted on the runway with this
- 1:18Speaker 1: amazing bob. Oh, it looked so good. How many people
- 1:21Speaker 1: are going to be copying that hairstyle? I've got to
- 1:23Speaker 1: put it out there. I think Sophie may copy it. Oh,
- 1:25Speaker 1: that's what I was going to say. Like when is
- 1:26Speaker 1: Sophie booking into the hairdresser to get that bob? It
- 1:29Speaker 1: was this beautiful like flick at the end. And I thought,
- 1:32Speaker 1: is that her real hair or is that a wig?
- 1:35Speaker 1: But her hairstylist, Jack Luckhurst, has confirmed. So he was
- 1:38Speaker 1: interviewed and he said, we cut the bob because we
- 1:42Speaker 1: wanted a wow factor moment and also fancied a change
- 1:45Speaker 1: with day-to-day styling. This is easy for Molly to manage
- 1:47Speaker 1: herself at home, but also give such a new image
- 1:50Speaker 1: for her and me when creating new looks. I'm going
- 1:52Speaker 1: to call it. I don't think Molly will keep it
- 1:54Speaker 1: for that long. I think she'll have extensions back in
- 1:56Speaker 1: maybe like a month. Yeah, and everyone should remember that
- 1:58Speaker 1: who's thinking of copying Molly because she's got the coin
- 2:01Speaker 1: to actually chuck those extensions back in.
- 2:03Speaker 2: I wonder if she was inspired by her.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Sister Zoe's big change because she recently went brunette and
- 2:08Speaker 1: looks absolutely incredible.
- 2:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:10Speaker 1: I think this is more about marking a big identity change,
- 2:13Speaker 1: particularly because we know that this scene is going to
- 2:15Speaker 1: feature on her doco.
- 2:16Speaker 2: I think this will be.
- 2:17Speaker 1: The closing scene where they're like, wow, In the last
- 2:19Speaker 1: two years, we've been following Molly around and look at that.
- 2:22Speaker 1: She's now up on the stage. She sees herself as
- 2:24Speaker 1: the person that all the audience sees her as, as
- 2:26Speaker 1: this glamorous, successful woman. Well, I bet L'Oreal are wrapped
- 2:29Speaker 1: because Molly is an ambassador for them and apparently her
- 2:32Speaker 1: contract is worth seven figures. So they must be extremely
- 2:36Speaker 1: happy that this has made worldwide news. Now, before we
- 2:39Speaker 1: get into this story, we want to issue a trigger
- 2:41Speaker 1: warning as we touch on issues surrounding domestic violence.
- 2:45Speaker 5: I would like to deeply apologise to the Outback Steakhouse
- 2:47Speaker 5: for the disturbance that happened last Thursday night. We had
- 2:50Speaker 5: no idea this was going to happen and me and
- 2:52Speaker 5: my partner absolutely love your restaurant and we are so
- 2:55Speaker 5: deeply embarrassed by what happened.
- 2:57Speaker 1: A dispute between Michaela Tester and Emily Hembrough has broken
- 3:01Speaker 1: out at Outback Steakhouse on the Gold Coast. The incident
- 3:04Speaker 1: comes off the back of the influencers publicly feuding online
- 3:07Speaker 1: earlier in the year. Now, the Outback Steakhouse seems like
- 3:10Speaker 1: a pretty good place for the influencers to have beef,
- 3:13Speaker 1: pun intended. Before we get into the more serious nature
- 3:16Speaker 1: of this story though, we need to talk about the
- 3:18Speaker 1: fact that this happened at the Outback Steakhouse. So after
- 3:22Speaker 1: everyone got over the initial shock of the incident, people
- 3:24Speaker 1: were like, what the hell were Michaela Tester and Emily
- 3:27Speaker 1: Hembrough doing at the Outback Steakhouse?
- 3:30Speaker 2: Michaela even referenced.
- 3:31Speaker 1: It in her video as her favorite restaurant on the
- 3:34Speaker 1: Gold Coast. Now, isn't your typical influence a hotspot? No,
- 3:37Speaker 1: I think there'd be like a brawl at Tottie's or
- 3:39Speaker 1: somewhere like that. I know that Gold Coast doesn't have
- 3:41Speaker 1: a Tottie's, but The Outback Steakhouse, this is like TGI
- 3:45Speaker 1: Fridays or something. I wouldn't expect either of them to
- 3:47Speaker 1: be seen dead there. Yeah, for full transparency, we actually
- 3:49Speaker 1: don't have an Outback Steakhouse in Adelaide. Take a shot
- 3:52Speaker 1: every time we say that restaurant's name. So for anyone
- 3:54Speaker 1: not familiar with it, it's an American chain of restaurants
- 3:57Speaker 1: that serves American cuisine in an Australian-themed atmosphere. Funnily enough,
- 4:01Speaker 1: it was created by Americans who were inspired by the
- 4:04Speaker 1: Crocodile Dundee movie. There's around 1,000 of these restaurants across
- 4:08Speaker 1: 23 countries. And as you said, it kind of gives
- 4:11Speaker 1: me TJF Friday vibes. That's the sort of meals you
- 4:14Speaker 1: get there, like big steaks. I'm still even more confused
- 4:18Speaker 1: finding out more about this restaurant that they would be there.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I know, it's bizarre.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Now, aside from the jokes made about the location of
- 4:24Speaker 1: the incident, the argument was far from funny because it
- 4:27Speaker 1: actually stems from a very serious matter involving the Hembrough's half-brother,
- 4:31Speaker 1: Honre Tyne. Yeah, so Honre was arrested in July of
- 4:35Speaker 1: 2024 and after assaulting his then-girlfriend Charlotte Chant. And while
- 4:40Speaker 1: the matter was before the courts, a number of online
- 4:42Speaker 1: creators came out in support of Charlotte and condemned the
- 4:46Speaker 1: Hembros for allegedly standing by their brother. So Michaela Testa
- 4:50Speaker 1: was one of the online creators who accused the Hembros
- 4:53Speaker 1: of allegedly bailing Honre out of jail. So she went
- 4:57Speaker 1: on to claim that they enabled his behavior.
- 4:59Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 5:00Speaker 1: And after sharing that TikTok, Michaela claimed that she was
- 5:03Speaker 1: sleeping with a knife and baseball bat next to her
- 5:06Speaker 1: bed as she was scared of Emily Hembrough's husband, which
- 5:09Speaker 1: were pretty bold claims to make at the time. Off
- 5:12Speaker 1: the back of those claims. Emily spoke cryptically about how
- 5:16Speaker 1: she had been in discussions with her lawyer. So people
- 5:18Speaker 1: put two and two together and were like, she must
- 5:20Speaker 1: be serving her with defamation papers. Yeah, and at the time,
- 5:23Speaker 1: Tammy was forced to publicly distance herself from Honre. So
- 5:27Speaker 1: she released a TikTok video saying, I have no contact
- 5:29Speaker 1: with my brother. I haven't seen my brother. I'm not
- 5:32Speaker 1: involved at all in no way. So I wanted to
- 5:35Speaker 1: make that clear. Now, following the online drama, in June
- 5:38Speaker 1: this year, Honre pleaded guilty to a number of domestic
- 5:41Speaker 1: violence offences, including common assault, stalking and two counts of strangulation.
- 5:46Speaker 1: He was sentenced to three years' imprisonment, with parole commencing
- 5:49Speaker 1: the day of the sentencing, as he had been held
- 5:51Speaker 1: in custody for almost a year already. Now, fast forward
- 5:55Speaker 1: to this week, and Michaela issued a public apology to
- 5:57Speaker 1: the Outback Steakhouse after what she called a disturbance took
- 6:01Speaker 1: place involving her and Emily Hembroke. She took to TikTok
- 6:05Speaker 1: to share that she was deeply embarrassed about what took place.
- 6:08Speaker 1: So from her account, it seems like things escalated to
- 6:11Speaker 1: the point where other diners were getting involved and shouting.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I'm surprised it's the first that we've actually heard online
- 6:17Speaker 1: about it, considering it had been five days since the
- 6:19Speaker 1: incident took place.
- 6:20Speaker 2: If I was there, I would have whipped.
- 6:21Speaker 1: My phone out so quickly to film this argument. But
- 6:24Speaker 1: maybe the people there were just like families who had
- 6:26Speaker 1: no idea who these people were.
- 6:28Speaker 2: People that were arguing.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Michaela did extend the apology to the families who were there.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Michaela's video has gone absolutely viral and at the time
- 6:36Speaker 1: of recording has over 4.8 million views. In terms of
- 6:40Speaker 1: what happened, Michaela said that she was lining up to
- 6:43Speaker 1: order her food with her fiancé Max when she was
- 6:46Speaker 1: approached by Emily Hembrough and her husband. Michaela alleges that
- 6:50Speaker 1: Emily accused her of spreading lies about her family and
- 6:53Speaker 1: labelled Honre's victim Charlotte Chant a liar. Michaela also claimed
- 6:57Speaker 1: Emily threatened to serve her with legal papers for defamation,
- 7:00Speaker 1: but when she called her bluff, Emily apparently backtracked and
- 7:04Speaker 1: said that she didn't have them with her. To be fair,
- 7:06Speaker 1: it's not like you're carrying legal documents around with you.
- 7:09Speaker 1: In terms of the defamation claims, this is what Michaela
- 7:12Speaker 1: said in her video.
- 7:13Speaker 7: Of course, I only speak truth and only speak things
- 7:16Speaker 7: that are truly coming from my heart. I have not
- 7:18Speaker 7: been sued for defamation by Emily Hanbrough as Her husband
- 7:21Speaker 7: even admitted to me that night that they cannot sue
- 7:23Speaker 7: me for defamation as I have not lied about them.
- 7:27Speaker 7: Everything that I've posted about Henri Thine or Henri Hembrough,
- 7:30Speaker 7: Emily Hembrough's brother, is completely factual. Things that you can
- 7:33Speaker 7: find on the internet, legal documents and court dates.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Now, Michaela described the incident as a short screaming match
- 7:41Speaker 1: and teased that Emily may release footage from the incident
- 7:44Speaker 1: as she filmed the encounter. When I heard this part
- 7:47Speaker 1: of the story, I was like, okay, So Michaela wants
- 7:50Speaker 1: to get on the front foot. This footage must not
- 7:52Speaker 1: be very flattering of her.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Release the vision. Release the vision.
- 7:56Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I mean, Michaela did admit that she got quite agitated
- 7:59Speaker 1: and was yelling back at Emily.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Well, it's unfair sometimes.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Like if you're the person that's filming, of course, you're
- 8:05Speaker 1: going to be a bit more subdued because you know
- 8:07Speaker 1: that this is.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Going to be recorded.
- 8:09Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 8:09Speaker 1: And also Emily was the one that approached Michaela and
- 8:12Speaker 1: kind of startled her. Michaela mentioned that she really wasn't
- 8:15Speaker 1: in a good headspace at the time because one she
- 8:17Speaker 1: said she found out some really horrible news and two
- 8:19Speaker 1: she said she had just got her face lasered I've
- 8:21Speaker 1: had my face lasered before and there is no way
- 8:24Speaker 1: I would want to be filmed or and also yelled
- 8:26Speaker 1: at this is giving me awful flashbacks to when we
- 8:28Speaker 1: saw Sarah's Day's husband Kurt Tills at a restaurant this
- 8:31Speaker 1: is of course after we've spoken about them on the
- 8:33Speaker 1: podcast for years and also reading between the lines he
- 8:35Speaker 1: threatened to sue us for yeah the deep dive that
- 8:38Speaker 1: we put out what about that bit To be fair though,
- 8:40Speaker 1: this is how I thought it would play out but
- 8:42Speaker 1: it didn't. No one actually said anything and everyone just– Well,
- 8:44Speaker 1: that's the funny thing about social media. Like Michaela Tester
- 8:48Speaker 1: and Emily, they're both very confident online. Like Michaela's put
- 8:51Speaker 1: all of these videos out having a go at the Hembros.
- 8:54Speaker 1: But then when you actually see the person in real life–
- 8:57Speaker 1: It's very different. It's very awkward seeing someone and actually
- 9:00Speaker 1: confronting them in person. Well, following the encounter, Michaela labelled
- 9:04Speaker 1: Emily as rude, mean and horrible. And she went on
- 9:07Speaker 1: to accuse Emily of enabling her younger brother and suggested
- 9:10Speaker 1: Emily was trying to believe in her brother's innocence as
- 9:13Speaker 1: a way to cope with the fact that he was, quote,
- 9:15Speaker 1: a horrible person. Now, after this outburst, Michaela said Emily
- 9:19Speaker 1: returned to the table with her family, but her husband
- 9:22Speaker 1: stayed and spoke to her and Mac. I was pretty
- 9:24Speaker 1: surprised because it was at this point that Michaela did
- 9:26Speaker 1: a complete backflip about Emily's husband and she admitted that
- 9:29Speaker 1: he was really kind and Emily's husband explained to Michaela
- 9:33Speaker 1: that Emily was just trying to protect her family and
- 9:36Speaker 1: he revealed that she would do anything for them. Michaela
- 9:40Speaker 1: also claimed Emily's husband confirmed that there were no legal
- 9:43Speaker 1: papers waiting for her and she said she ended up
- 9:46Speaker 1: apologizing to him about what she originally said online about
- 9:50Speaker 1: him and shook his hand. and she confirmed that he
- 9:52Speaker 1: was the only one to condemn Honre's actions. It was
- 9:55Speaker 1: pretty apparent that she wanted to put it on the
- 9:58Speaker 1: record to the public that there was no beef between
- 10:00Speaker 1: them anymore.
- 10:01Speaker 2: I found that really interesting.
- 10:03Speaker 1: And I wondered if that was an agreement that they
- 10:06Speaker 1: came to, that she had to publicly apologize to him
- 10:09Speaker 1: in order to not get served by the legal document.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Because while Michaela is adamant that she hasn't said anything
- 10:15Speaker 1: defamatory around Honre's case, and she has got the truth
- 10:19Speaker 1: defense with the sentencing documents and all of the receipts
- 10:22Speaker 1: that Charlotte Chant has provided online in terms of what
- 10:26Speaker 1: she alleged about Emily Hembrough's husband I do think the
- 10:29Speaker 1: Hembrough's had a leg to stand on that it was
- 10:31Speaker 1: defamatory my other thought perhaps is Emily said look we'll
- 10:35Speaker 1: release this vision that doesn't make you look too good
- 10:37Speaker 1: unless you actually go on the record and and take
- 10:40Speaker 1: away those comments that you said Well, off the back
- 10:43Speaker 1: of Michaela's TikTok, Charlotte Chant shared her own video hitting
- 10:47Speaker 1: back at the alleged claims that she was a liar.
- 10:49Speaker 1: So she explained she received a FaceTime call from Michaela
- 10:52Speaker 1: about the incident, which left her shaking and angry. She
- 10:56Speaker 1: went on to show further receipts, which included the sentencing
- 10:58Speaker 1: papers and disturbing text messages that she alleged were sent
- 11:02Speaker 1: to her from Honrej. Charlotte made a point not to
- 11:05Speaker 1: name Emily because she said she didn't want to be sued. Now,
- 11:08Speaker 1: at the time of recording, Emily Hembrough is yet to
- 11:11Speaker 1: release an official statement or share the footage from the incident,
- 11:15Speaker 1: but she has been defending herself in the comments section
- 11:17Speaker 1: of random TikTok accounts. So a TikToker called Kayla Bruno's
- 11:21Speaker 1: comment section blew up after she released a video mocking
- 11:24Speaker 1: the location of the fight.
- 11:27Speaker 8: Just woken up from a what year is it nap
- 11:29Speaker 8: and I've just seen that Michaela Tester is punching on
- 11:30Speaker 8: with the Hembrough sisters yet again. That's not the part
- 11:33Speaker 8: I'm concerned about. I quite like the drama. What I
- 11:34Speaker 8: need to know is what the fuck is Outback Steakhouse?
- 11:38Speaker 8: Are we talking like a Bloomin' Onion American chain Outback Steakhouse?
- 11:43Speaker 8: What the fuck is Emily Hembrough doing there to begin with?
- 11:46Speaker 8: I'm telling you, the more I hear about the Gold Coast,
- 11:48Speaker 8: the more I fucking don't understand it.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Now someone commented under the video, send the papers, to
- 11:54Speaker 1: which Emily responded, She left the country when I had
- 11:57Speaker 1: them ready and now she has apologized about my husband
- 12:00Speaker 1: to myself and him and online publicly. So there is
- 12:03Speaker 1: no need.
- 12:04Speaker 2: That's what I was mad about. Nothing else.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Michaela then joined the comment section and claimed that Emily
- 12:09Speaker 1: had blocked her so she can't see her comments.
- 12:12Speaker 2: She went on to.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Say that she never apologized about making up lies about
- 12:16Speaker 1: Emily's husband. She said she apologized to Emily's husband for
- 12:19Speaker 1: saying that she was scared of him online and that
- 12:22Speaker 1: he seemed like a pretty reasonable guy in person. She
- 12:25Speaker 1: went on to say, I even clarified that I thought
- 12:27Speaker 1: her brother was XYZ and that I'm not apologising for
- 12:30Speaker 1: anything else. She said she then walked out of the
- 12:33Speaker 1: restaurant and told her to serve her the papers. She
- 12:35Speaker 1: went on to write, let's hope she posts the video
- 12:37Speaker 1: in full and I'll go and get CCTV footage as well.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Is it terrible that I really hope that happens?
- 12:42Speaker 1: Like, I would love... to see this vision? I think
- 12:46Speaker 1: the Outback Steakhouse needs to jump on this publicity and
- 12:49Speaker 1: release the CCTV vision.
- 12:51Speaker 2: I mean, they're already getting a lot of free publicity.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Why not milk it.
- 12:54Speaker 1: For what it's worth? Kate, you haven't had a steak
- 12:56Speaker 1: for what? Like what, 30 years? I can't remember ever
- 12:59Speaker 1: eating a steak. Would you have a steak in order
- 13:02Speaker 1: to get this vision?
- 13:03Speaker 2: Yes, I would. And do you know what?
- 13:04Speaker 1: I say that and I've actually lost this bet before
- 13:07Speaker 1: because I've been vegetarian since I was 14 and And
- 13:10Speaker 1: back when I was working with another job, I ended
- 13:12Speaker 1: up having.
- 13:12Speaker 2: To eat a Big Mac after losing a bet. And
- 13:14Speaker 2: I did it.
- 13:15Speaker 1: So I will do it.
- 13:16Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 13:16Speaker 1: So if you've got that vision, Outback Steakhouse, and you
- 13:19Speaker 1: want Kate to eat a steak in order to get it,
- 13:21Speaker 1: contact us. Hit us up at Outspoken underscore the underscore podcast.
- 13:25Speaker 1: You can find me at the Gold Coast too to
- 13:26Speaker 1: eat it.
- 13:26Speaker 2: That'd be nice. Because we don't have one here in Adelaide.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Now, in a subsequent video Kayla Bruno posted about the incident,
- 13:34Speaker 1: Emily replied to another comment that accused her of calling
- 13:37Speaker 1: Charlotte a liar. She wrote, she also said in person
- 13:40Speaker 1: with many witnesses that Charlotte said she had met my husband,
- 13:43Speaker 1: which is false and a lie. That's what I was
- 13:45Speaker 1: referring to. Obviously not my brother. We all know he
- 13:48Speaker 1: was guilty and went to jail. That's common sense. And
- 13:50Speaker 1: like I've said numerous times, I don't condone or support violence.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I also don't condone or support liars and online bullies.
- 13:56Speaker 1: There's a pattern with her content. It's pretty clear. It's
- 13:59Speaker 1: going to be interesting to see how this plays out
- 14:01Speaker 1: online because we all know Michaela Testa is definitely not
- 14:03Speaker 1: one to back down. Yeah, I am very interested to
- 14:06Speaker 1: see if Emily Hembrough puts out anything officially. I think
- 14:09Speaker 1: she won't. I think she'll be hoping that this blows over.
- 14:12Speaker 3: I have been experiencing the worst vlogging fear. I am
- 14:17Speaker 3: terrified to pick up my camera most days. Terrified sounds
- 14:20Speaker 3: dramatic and honestly it is.
- 14:21Speaker 9: But.
- 14:23Speaker 3: It's how I feel.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Gold Coast YouTuber Georgia Richards has revealed she contemplated deleting
- 14:28Speaker 1: her social media accounts and never going on the internet
- 14:31Speaker 1: again after struggling to cope with judgment online. Amy, before
- 14:35Speaker 1: we get into it, can you give us some background
- 14:37Speaker 1: on who.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Georgia Richards is?
- 14:38Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I mentioned last week that Georgia was one
- 14:40Speaker 1: of my favorite comfort YouTubers. So she's been sharing content
- 14:44Speaker 1: on YouTube for the last seven years.
- 14:46Speaker 2: She's 27 years old.
- 14:47Speaker 1: She's got around 100,000 followers on YouTube and 71,000 on Instagram.
- 14:52Speaker 1: When I first came across Georgia's channel, I was hooked
- 14:54Speaker 1: because she was just a regular girl sharing her life.
- 14:57Speaker 1: She worked at a coffee shop. She shared about the
- 15:00Speaker 1: catching up with friends. There was also the interesting element
- 15:02Speaker 1: of her being involved in the church. So she used
- 15:04Speaker 1: to start her days doing Bible verses. And now I
- 15:07Speaker 1: feel like I've been along the whole journey with her
- 15:09Speaker 1: because I Over the last couple of years, she opened
- 15:11Speaker 1: up about the fact that she is gay and she
- 15:14Speaker 1: actually left the church, which was such a big step
- 15:17Speaker 1: for her. Yeah, and she's been really open sharing her
- 15:19Speaker 1: sexuality online. She's spoken about going on many dates and
- 15:23Speaker 1: also about her first girlfriend, which she got around the
- 15:26Speaker 1: end of last year. It was really brave of her
- 15:29Speaker 1: considering what a taboo topic it would have been for her. Yeah,
- 15:31Speaker 1: and at the start of this year, she got really
- 15:33Speaker 1: candid about her breakup. So this was with her first
- 15:36Speaker 1: ever girlfriend. And I really love the honesty from Georgia.
- 15:40Speaker 1: I was glued and I really enjoyed vicariously living through, well,
- 15:44Speaker 1: not just the breakup, but her whole dating experiences. Well,
- 15:47Speaker 1: I think there's something about a first breakup that majority
- 15:49Speaker 1: of people can relate to. And you just, I just
- 15:52Speaker 1: felt so sorry for her watching it because you know
- 15:54Speaker 1: that the only thing that's going to heal that type
- 15:56Speaker 1: of pain is time.
- 15:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 15:57Speaker 1: And the thing with Georgia is she never actually shared
- 15:59Speaker 1: the full identity of her girlfriend. It was always like
- 16:02Speaker 1: the back of her head in vlogs or her arm,
- 16:04Speaker 1: like them hand in hand walking.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Well, she never even said her name.
- 16:06Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 16:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:07Speaker 1: And so this week, Georgia revealed in a YouTube video
- 16:10Speaker 1: that she was really struggling with the judgment of others.
- 16:13Speaker 1: And she said that at the start of this year,
- 16:16Speaker 1: she shared so much about her life. And now she
- 16:19Speaker 1: was having a lot of intrusive thoughts about shit. I
- 16:22Speaker 1: actually need to take my life offline because I can't
- 16:24Speaker 1: deal with people's judgment. Let's have a listen to what
- 16:26Speaker 1: she said.
- 16:28Speaker 3: My favorite part of being on the internet is just
- 16:31Speaker 3: feeling connected to people. However, in order to feel connected
- 16:33Speaker 3: to people, you have to be vulnerable and that just
- 16:36Speaker 3: opens you up to so much hate and the wrong
- 16:38Speaker 3: kind of people seeing your stuff and people not understanding
- 16:41Speaker 3: you and people perceiving you in a way that is
- 16:43Speaker 3: either not accurate or just like, people perceiving me in
- 16:46Speaker 3: general just makes me extremely uncomfortable. I've talked about it
- 16:48Speaker 3: in therapy so much, like in relationships, in deep friendships,
- 16:51Speaker 3: but I've just felt so like almost frozen in fear.
- 16:54Speaker 3: I just am so scared to do, say, post- literally anything,
- 16:59Speaker 3: which I know, I know, I know, I know, I know,
- 17:00Speaker 3: I know it's so silly. I've been trying so hard
- 17:02Speaker 3: to shake it because like I work one of the
- 17:05Speaker 3: coolest jobs ever. Like I am so lucky and I
- 17:08Speaker 3: count my blessings every single day because of all of
- 17:10Speaker 3: the incredible opportunities and freedom that this platform has given me.
- 17:13Speaker 3: But oh my God, the internet has been so scary
- 17:16Speaker 3: to me.
- 17:17Speaker 1: God, I felt so sorry for Georgia when I watched
- 17:19Speaker 1: this because I think when you do put yourself out
- 17:21Speaker 1: there online, whether it's as an influencer or a podcaster,
- 17:24Speaker 1: you do get a little bit of a oversharing hangover.
- 17:27Speaker 1: You're like, oh my God, I've put that out on
- 17:29Speaker 1: the internet forever. Especially when people are being assholes and
- 17:32Speaker 1: going and writing on Reddit or.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Tattelife and judging them about it.
- 17:34Speaker 1: And that's the shame with the rise in popularity of
- 17:36Speaker 1: sites like this. We've spoken about it before on the podcast,
- 17:39Speaker 1: but there are a number of threads which exist about
- 17:42Speaker 1: Georgia on Reddit. And I had a look at them
- 17:44Speaker 1: and they were just mean. And I think what you
- 17:46Speaker 1: realize as you grow up a bit is that these
- 17:49Speaker 1: haters who are in the threads, there's only a handful
- 17:52Speaker 1: of them. Like Georgia would look at those and go,
- 17:54Speaker 1: oh my God, there's hundreds and hundreds of people who
- 17:56Speaker 1: hate me. Actually, it's probably just three very sad people
- 18:00Speaker 1: who have the time to comment on the Reddit thread.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Like there'd be so many people who love watching her life,
- 18:05Speaker 1: including me. And it's sad that that's spoiling it for
- 18:09Speaker 1: so many people because she's not sharing as much as
- 18:11Speaker 1: she would. Unfortunately, it really is part and parcel of
- 18:14Speaker 1: the influencer space. And I think Most content creators go
- 18:17Speaker 1: through it where they discover these threads about themselves. And unfortunately,
- 18:22Speaker 1: the only way you can really push forward is just
- 18:24Speaker 1: to not look at the stuff as hard as that is.
- 18:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:28Speaker 1: And I think for a number of creators, this kind
- 18:30Speaker 1: of hate, it often kicks off once you reach around
- 18:34Speaker 1: 100,000 subscribers. And that's what's happened to Georgia. She's got
- 18:37Speaker 1: 100,000 subscribers now on YouTube. Her following is just increasing.
- 18:41Speaker 1: And sadly, it is just part and parcel. But let's
- 18:44Speaker 1: have a listen to what Georgia said because she spoke
- 18:46Speaker 1: very honestly about how she feels about these haters.
- 18:49Speaker 3: It honestly annoys me because the mean, scary people of
- 18:52Speaker 3: the internet who are actually just like really sad, lonely
- 18:55Speaker 3: people behind a screen, they're the ones that are ruining
- 18:57Speaker 3: it for the good people and like for me. And
- 18:59Speaker 3: I'm like, you shouldn't hold that power. You shouldn't like
- 19:02Speaker 3: get to have that in you because like, A, I
- 19:04Speaker 3: literally don't know you and B, you're just awful people.
- 19:08Speaker 1: I just really hope Georgia continues to share her life
- 19:10Speaker 1: online because while there may be a small corner of
- 19:13Speaker 1: the internet that are being judgmental, I think that she
- 19:16Speaker 1: would have helped so many other people that have been
- 19:18Speaker 1: going through similar things in their life. Yeah, and she
- 19:20Speaker 1: noted in this YouTube video that that was one of
- 19:23Speaker 1: the main reasons why she started to share her life
- 19:25Speaker 1: on YouTube was because she didn't see people like herself
- 19:28Speaker 1: being represented. And it's a real shame that this is
- 19:31Speaker 1: potentially stopping other people from being able to watch someone
- 19:35Speaker 1: like Georgia, like someone at home who might not feel
- 19:37Speaker 1: represented can actually align themselves with her. But hopefully she
- 19:41Speaker 1: will continue her content because I'm living for it at
- 19:42Speaker 1: the moment.
- 19:43Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 19:44Speaker 1: You always complain to me like, can you believe she
- 19:46Speaker 1: hasn't released a vlog for two weeks now? I'm like,
- 19:48Speaker 1: I didn't actually know.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Well, now I see why.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Because of the fucking nasty people.
- 19:52Speaker 9: I just tore the ligaments in my thumb and I'm
- 19:54Speaker 9: meant to be launching my biggest 60-day workout challenge in
- 19:57Speaker 9: 10 days.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Sarah's day has been thrown an obstacle just 10 days
- 20:01Speaker 1: out from the launch of her fitness challenge. On Monday,
- 20:04Speaker 1: the fitness influencer announced she's torn the ligaments in her
- 20:07Speaker 1: thumb and will have to wear a splint for six
- 20:10Speaker 1: to nine weeks.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Now, Sarah shared the.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Story in a pretty dramatic fashion on her Instagram. So
- 20:15Speaker 1: on Monday morning, she revealed to her one million followers
- 20:17Speaker 1: that she was waiting to get an x-ray on her thumb.
- 20:20Speaker 1: So at seven that morning, she hyperextended her thumb all
- 20:23Speaker 1: the way back, causing suspected ligament damage. She said as
- 20:27Speaker 1: soon as she heard the sickening crunch and felt the pain,
- 20:29Speaker 1: she knew there was something wrong. She was really coy, though,
- 20:32Speaker 1: about how she actually hyper-extended her thumb. She said it
- 20:34Speaker 1: was really embarrassing and teased that she would tell the
- 20:37Speaker 1: story later.
- 20:38Speaker 2: As soon as I heard that, I was like, I
- 20:39Speaker 2: must know. Like, what were you doing?
- 20:41Speaker 1: I mean, she's got a baby, so I was like,
- 20:43Speaker 1: did it have something to do with him?
- 20:46Speaker 2: I don't know. How could you possibly do it?
- 20:48Speaker 1: Well, thinking back to when you dislocated your knee, that
- 20:51Speaker 1: was kind of an embarrassing injury because you were leaning
- 20:53Speaker 1: to get wrapping paper from behind a TV. It wasn't
- 20:56Speaker 1: some kind of dramatic injury. So maybe it's something like that.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Could it be a sex injury?
- 21:00Speaker 2: Oh, God. I hope not. Doing this with her thumb. Well,
- 21:07Speaker 2: she's been talking.
- 21:08Speaker 1: About how she's had these pregnancy scares.
- 21:10Speaker 7: Oh, gosh.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I feel like she probably wouldn't tell that story if
- 21:15Speaker 1: that was the case.
- 21:15Speaker 4: That's what I mean.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Like imagine doing it in some really embarrassing way and
- 21:18Speaker 1: you're like, how do you hyperextend your thumb?
- 21:19Speaker 2: Why are we kept to cancel the challenge?
- 21:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Anyway, moving on, in a true.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Feat for our public health system, Sarah said that she
- 21:28Speaker 1: managed to see the GP get an X-ray and meet
- 21:31Speaker 1: with a hand specialist.
- 21:32Speaker 2: All within an hour and a half. What the hell?
- 21:34Speaker 1: How's that even possible?
- 21:35Speaker 2: What's a hand specialist?
- 21:37Speaker 1: Well, the hand specialist is the one that said, look,
- 21:39Speaker 1: I have to wait for the swelling to go down
- 21:42Speaker 1: to tell the severity of the damage. But according to Sarah,
- 21:45Speaker 1: the doctor was positive that she has done ligament damage.
- 21:48Speaker 2: They're not sure.
- 21:49Speaker 1: See, I had an incident with a tennis ball machine.
- 21:52Speaker 1: So I was doing– Was it embarrassing? Well, it was
- 21:55Speaker 1: kind of embarrassing because I was having a hit with
- 21:58Speaker 1: my tennis ball machine named Maurice and I was volleying
- 22:01Speaker 1: at the net and I saw this tennis ball flying
- 22:04Speaker 1: towards my head and I stupidly put my hand out
- 22:06Speaker 1: to catch it but it was on like the hardest level. Anyway,
- 22:12Speaker 1: I was convinced I'd broken my finger and done ligament
- 22:14Speaker 1: damage so was the doctor. Turns out, no. Well, I
- 22:17Speaker 1: broke my finger. This was back in 2000. It was
- 22:22Speaker 1: the night of the Olympic Games in Sydney. I have
- 22:26Speaker 1: no recollection of this.
- 22:27Speaker 2: We were playing netball.
- 22:28Speaker 7: Oh, okay, yeah.
- 22:29Speaker 2: A ball bounced into my finger. I broke it. Still
- 22:31Speaker 2: carried on.
- 22:32Speaker 1: We went to McDonald's and I got a cup of
- 22:33Speaker 1: ice and put it in there. Did you go to
- 22:35Speaker 1: a hand specialist the next day?
- 22:36Speaker 2: No, mum and dad did not pay for me to
- 22:37Speaker 2: go to a hand specialist.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Anyway, jokes aside, I'm pretty shocked considering the strain that
- 22:42Speaker 1: is on our healthcare system in Australia that she managed
- 22:45Speaker 1: to get all those appointments done between 8.30 and 11 a.m.
- 22:47Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 22:48Speaker 2: That's incredible. That's incredible.
- 22:50Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 22:50Speaker 1: I mean, most specialists would have a massive waiting list,
- 22:52Speaker 1: but I do feel really sorry for her because apparently
- 22:56Speaker 1: she hasn't even been able to change her son's nappies. Well,
- 22:59Speaker 1: I mean, I feel sorry for her, but it's a
- 23:00Speaker 1: good way to get out of it as well. I mean,
- 23:02Speaker 1: it does sound very painful, but I couldn't help but
- 23:04Speaker 1: laugh at how much she was actually using her injured
- 23:06Speaker 1: hand in the video.
- 23:07Speaker 6: Yes.
- 23:08Speaker 1: So for those who haven't seen it, it's literally like
- 23:10Speaker 1: when someone gets engaged and suddenly they want to do
- 23:12Speaker 1: everything with their left hand to show off the ring.
- 23:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Cause she's got this hot pink splint on her hand
- 23:18Speaker 1: and she's known already for being really emotive with her
- 23:20Speaker 1: hands so when she was speaking on camera like she
- 23:23Speaker 1: was literally over exaggerating everything with the bandage hand it
- 23:27Speaker 1: was so distracting i did like the color pink though
- 23:30Speaker 1: of the bandage i thought Has she got shares in
- 23:33Speaker 1: this plaster company or something? Like, is this the new Hyro? Actually,
- 23:37Speaker 1: someone did ask her where she got the bandage from.
- 23:38Speaker 2: She's like, from the hand specialist.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Oh, okay. Now, off the back of Sarah's update, a
- 23:42Speaker 1: lot of her followers questioned why she got an x-ray
- 23:45Speaker 1: rather than an MRI. And she explained on her Instagram
- 23:48Speaker 1: story that she couldn't get an appointment for an MRI
- 23:50Speaker 1: for another two weeks.
- 23:51Speaker 2: So the x-ray was to rule out a break.
- 23:54Speaker 1: So Sarah conceded, though, that the hand specialist wasn't too
- 23:57Speaker 1: concerned about the MRI as she will be able to
- 23:59Speaker 1: tell what's going on with it once the swelling subsides. Now,
- 24:04Speaker 1: as for Sarah's mindset, she said she's just focusing on
- 24:06Speaker 1: keeping her mindset positive and getting creative with this injury
- 24:10Speaker 1: and juggling three kids, including a baby who wants mommy
- 24:13Speaker 1: to hold him 24 seven. That would be so difficult.
- 24:15Speaker 1: And Kurt's had to take time off to stay home
- 24:18Speaker 1: with the kids.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Well, fair enough.
- 24:19Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I mean, yeah, but I was only
- 24:22Speaker 1: able to use one hand and look after my son. God,
- 24:26Speaker 1: All I could think about, though, when I saw Sarah's
- 24:28Speaker 1: update is what's going to happen to the 560 challenge?
- 24:30Speaker 1: Because on Monday, Soph and I were speaking about how
- 24:33Speaker 1: we think Sarah is already cutting it fine by announcing
- 24:35Speaker 1: a launch date when she hasn't actually completed.
- 24:38Speaker 2: All of the work for the project.
- 24:39Speaker 1: So it turns out she's yet to film the workout
- 24:42Speaker 1: videos that go.
- 24:43Speaker 2: With the challenge.
- 24:45Speaker 1: And Sarah was quick to confirm on Monday that the
- 24:47Speaker 1: challenge would still be launching on the 9th of October,
- 24:49Speaker 1: but she would just have to moderate her workouts. Here's
- 24:52Speaker 1: some of what she said.
- 24:53Speaker 9: Hand specialist has told me I can get back into
- 24:56Speaker 9: training in five days. She wants me to take five
- 24:58Speaker 9: days off to like not swell it up. But I'm
- 25:00Speaker 9: definitely going to have to get creative. But like this,
- 25:02Speaker 9: I'm not going to let this derail me. I'm going
- 25:04Speaker 9: to show you guys that even if you have a
- 25:07Speaker 9: torn ligament, you can still commit to the 60 days.
- 25:09Speaker 9: I guess I just won't be doing any dumbbell work
- 25:11Speaker 9: on my left hand or like planks on my hands.
- 25:14Speaker 9: I just need to get a little bit creative.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Not to laugh because it's horrible that she has hurt
- 25:19Speaker 1: her thumb, but It cracked me up because a lot
- 25:22Speaker 1: of people have been saying that every time Sarah tells
- 25:25Speaker 1: her community that they're going to do one of the
- 25:27Speaker 1: workout guides together or do a fitness challenge together, that
- 25:30Speaker 1: she always comes up with an excuse not to do it.
- 25:32Speaker 1: So I remember before she announced her pregnancy with Malachi,
- 25:36Speaker 1: she was like, oh yeah, we're all going to do
- 25:37Speaker 1: the fitness challenge together.
- 25:38Speaker 2: And then she's like, oh, I can't because I'm pregnant.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Well, it'd be interesting to see if she does the
- 25:42Speaker 1: full 60 days.
- 25:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Well, she ended up sharing another vlog talking about her
- 25:46Speaker 1: thumb and she started the video by saying, hi, it's
- 25:48Speaker 1: your favorite.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Damaged ligament girl.
- 25:50Speaker 1: And it took me back to I think it was
- 25:53Speaker 1: like 2017 when she had a staph infection and she
- 25:56Speaker 1: kept calling herself staph girl. Like she really manages to
- 25:59Speaker 1: milk the content out of these types of injuries.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Well, I'm living for the content.
- 26:04Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 26:04Speaker 2: It's actually hilarious.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Well, in the vlog, she said that she was choosing
- 26:08Speaker 1: to adapt and not quit. So she said the 560
- 26:11Speaker 1: program is going ahead in nine days and nothing will
- 26:14Speaker 1: stop me, not even torn ligaments. And it turns out
- 26:17Speaker 1: that the day after she hurt her thumb, she had
- 26:20Speaker 1: a filming day locked in for the fitness challenge. So
- 26:23Speaker 1: she went and got her hair washed and blow dried because.
- 26:26Speaker 2: She couldn't actually do it herself.
- 26:28Speaker 1: It's unclear if the videos are just going to be
- 26:30Speaker 1: pieces to cameras or she's going to do the workout
- 26:34Speaker 1: and that would be against her doctor's advice because they said, well,
- 26:36Speaker 1: don't work out for five days. It always sounds like
- 26:38Speaker 1: someone's got this voodoo doll of her just putting the
- 26:40Speaker 1: pins in her thumb or something.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Yeah, you will not get your challenge done.
- 26:44Speaker 1: It was interesting because someone in the comments of this
- 26:46Speaker 1: blog wrote, girl, you think a hand injury is tough?
- 26:49Speaker 1: Try having a whole body that refuses to cooperate. Ha ha.
- 26:52Speaker 1: And then Sarah responded, I didn't realize it was a competition.
- 26:56Speaker 1: And then the person replied, it's so awkward. They're like,
- 26:58Speaker 1: not a competition at all. I was just joking about
- 27:00Speaker 1: my own struggles. I have LGMD, a muscle wasting disease,
- 27:04Speaker 1: and can relate to the nothing will stop me. Now
- 27:06Speaker 1: Sarah didn't reply further.
- 27:07Speaker 5: I was like, oh.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Oh, that poor person.
- 27:09Speaker 2: I know.
- 27:09Speaker 1: I was like, God, you can't go at people in
- 27:11Speaker 1: your comments without knowing the full story. To be fair,
- 27:13Speaker 1: there is that whole, what is it? Is it called
- 27:15Speaker 1: like the blueberry bagel theory or whatever it is where
- 27:17Speaker 1: it's like you could say I love blueberry bagels and
- 27:20Speaker 1: everyone's like, what about the plain ones?
- 27:23Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Well, I mean, that's clearly not what this person was doing,
- 27:25Speaker 1: but I suppose you don't know tone on social media.
- 27:28Speaker 2: She was triggered. Now, I've got a prediction for you.
- 27:30Speaker 1: I think Sarah is going to go to an acupuncturist
- 27:32Speaker 1: and naturally cure her ligament injury herself.
- 27:35Speaker 2: No way.
- 27:36Speaker 6: It sort of made me feel not uncomfortable. I wasn't
- 27:39Speaker 6: feeling sorry for myself, but I was like, why?
- 27:42Speaker 1: Matt Sikowski has revealed he felt emotional after attending his
- 27:46Speaker 1: friend's wedding over the weekend. Now, this was the first
- 27:49Speaker 1: wedding he attended since the breakdown of his marriage to
- 27:52Speaker 1: Tammy Hembrough. Let's have a listen to what Matt said.
- 27:56Speaker 6: It was a bit strange to watch. Like when they
- 27:59Speaker 6: were doing their vows, it was so cute and so heartfelt.
- 28:03Speaker 6: It sort of made me feel not uncomfortable. I wasn't
- 28:06Speaker 6: feeling sorry for myself, but I was like, why? Like,
- 28:09Speaker 6: why was mine? You know what I'm trying to say?
- 28:11Speaker 2: Like not forever.
- 28:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:12Speaker 6: Why was mine not forever? Because in that moment, I
- 28:14Speaker 6: remember when I was saying them, I was like, this
- 28:16Speaker 6: is forever. And I was like, why did it, why
- 28:18Speaker 6: was it not real? Why was it, you know what
- 28:20Speaker 6: I'm trying to say? Yeah.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Matt went on to say he couldn't quite articulate how
- 28:25Speaker 1: he felt and needed time to talk to his therapist
- 28:28Speaker 1: to help identify the exact emotion. It's crazy to think
- 28:31Speaker 1: it's nearly coming up to their first wedding anniversary.
- 28:34Speaker 2: That's in November.
- 28:35Speaker 7: Are you serious?
- 28:36Speaker 2: So only like four or five weeks away.
- 28:38Speaker 1: That is actually crazy because it feels like just yesterday
- 28:41Speaker 1: that the Daily Mail's drone was flying overhead, Tammy was
- 28:44Speaker 1: in a pink dress.
