- 0:00Speaker 1: And the Cracking power play.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Lord, this is the King Postgame Show, brought to you
- 0:05Speaker 2: by Toyota of Olympia. Now for an in depth look
- 0:09Speaker 2: at your Kraken Hockey. It's the post Game. I'm the
- 0:12Speaker 2: Global Credit Union Kraken Audio Network.
- 0:17Speaker 3: For the final time tonight, welcome back inside of Climate
- 0:20Speaker 3: Plageriina alongside al Kiniski ever fits you back here with
- 0:23Speaker 3: you cracking falling for to one of the Minnesota Wild.
- 0:27Speaker 3: It was one one with two fifteen left in the game,
- 0:32Speaker 3: or two to one rather with two point fifteen left
- 0:35Speaker 3: in the game. And the Wild, though, get back to
- 0:36Speaker 3: back empty net goals, and that is where this one
- 0:39Speaker 3: will conclude. And if you're the Seattle Crack and you
- 0:42Speaker 3: score on the power play, you break a perfect twenty
- 0:46Speaker 3: three for twenty three pk stretch for the Wild coming
- 0:49Speaker 3: into the game today. You know, but it's still not
- 0:54Speaker 3: enough offense tonight for Seattle. The physicality was their big
- 0:57Speaker 3: hit from Vince Dunn that got the crowd fired up,
- 1:00Speaker 3: that got the bench fired up, like we heard from
- 1:03Speaker 3: Freddy Gadreau after period two, But not enough for the
- 1:06Speaker 3: cracket here tonight.
- 1:07Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's interesting too because the last two games
- 1:10Speaker 4: Edmonton and Detroit, cracking and grabbing six goals over those
- 1:13Speaker 4: two games even strength, but they're not able to get
- 1:15Speaker 4: one here tonight even strength. Just the power play goal
- 1:18Speaker 4: by Jordan Everley. And you know there were some difference
- 1:21Speaker 4: makers out there tonight for sure the penalty kill. Getting
- 1:24Speaker 4: that one goal put him one for three on the
- 1:26Speaker 4: power play. They were perfect on the penalty kill, going
- 1:30Speaker 4: three for three. Vince Dunn's hit absolutely had a momentum
- 1:33Speaker 4: grabber there in the first period. And I think Philip
- 1:35Speaker 4: Grubauer had a great game as well.
- 1:37Speaker 5: I was gonna say, I mean, you're gonna see this
- 1:39Speaker 5: game as four one. It's two to one, You've got
- 1:42Speaker 5: two empty net goals.
- 1:44Speaker 3: I thought, Philip Grubauer, he's gonna get his first regulation
- 1:47Speaker 3: loss of the season now for one and one. We
- 1:50Speaker 3: know what we've seen the last couple of years from Grubauer,
- 1:53Speaker 3: but I think it's safe to say this is probably
- 1:56Speaker 3: some of the best hockey that we've seen from Philip
- 1:59Speaker 3: grubauerins that playoff year two years, three years ago now.
- 2:02Speaker 3: But you know, not enough run support for the cracking
- 2:05Speaker 3: here tonight, and the Wild historically are just a team
- 2:08Speaker 3: that when they get up by a.
- 2:09Speaker 5: Goal or two, they just lull it to sleep.
- 2:12Speaker 3: They grind you down to a nub and don't really
- 2:16Speaker 3: give much of anything. The Cracking did get some shots.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Gustafson had a strong game and net as well. The
- 2:22Speaker 3: battle of two goalies, but unfortunately, if you don't count
- 2:26Speaker 3: the empty netter, Philip Gustafson one better than Philip Grubau.
- 2:30Speaker 4: I think that once Minnesota got that go ahead goal
- 2:33Speaker 4: from Marcus Johanson, they clogged up the middle. They didn't
- 2:37Speaker 4: let Yes Seattle get to any speed going off the rush.
- 2:40Speaker 4: It was stickier than peanut butter and chest hair through
- 2:42Speaker 4: the middle of the ice.
- 2:45Speaker 5: So vivid, tough to get going.
- 2:50Speaker 6: What was what was?
- 2:51Speaker 5: What was the TV show where the guy covers himself
- 2:54Speaker 5: in peanut butter and arrested development Yeah, yeah, something like that.
- 2:58Speaker 5: Oh goodness for one can fall to Minnesota al over
- 3:02Speaker 5: to you for more colorful analysis. Hasn't to get ready
- 3:06Speaker 5: to get out of here?
- 3:07Speaker 4: Well again, special teams, we're good tonight. I would take
- 3:10Speaker 4: that every night, so you're gonna lock that in. Unfortunately,
- 3:13Speaker 4: even strength was not where the crack and were able
- 3:15Speaker 4: to get it done offensively. I love the hit by
- 3:18Speaker 4: Vince Done. Go ahead and throw that hit every game.
- 3:20Speaker 4: I'm good with it. And then I just want to
- 3:22Speaker 4: highlight PHILP. Grubauer's game. He stopped two breakaways out there tonight,
- 3:26Speaker 4: and as you said, this wasn't a four to one
- 3:28Speaker 4: game for him, it was a two to one game.
- 3:30Speaker 4: He'd probably like to have maybe the ericson goal back,
- 3:32Speaker 4: but the deflection, the goal ahead goal on Joe Hanson,
- 3:35Speaker 4: that's a tough.
- 3:35Speaker 6: One to start.
- 3:36Speaker 5: That's a defensive breakdown right there. You let them all
- 3:38Speaker 5: alone in front.
- 3:38Speaker 4: YEP.
- 3:39Speaker 5: Three stars tonight brought to you by Mama Kay.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Speaking of goaltenders with a nine to five eight seve
- 3:44Speaker 4: percent engine stopping twenty three of twenty four, Philip Gustuson
- 3:47Speaker 4: was your third star. Second star goes to Matt Boldie.
- 3:50Speaker 4: He had an assistant, was plus three on the night,
- 3:52Speaker 4: and first star goes to Joel x Eriksson Eck. He
- 3:55Speaker 4: was one goal, one assist and a plus three. Well,
- 3:58Speaker 4: let to do it here.
- 3:59Speaker 3: From Mike Benton across the street, I guarantee he's never
- 4:03Speaker 3: had peanut butter in his chest.
- 4:05Speaker 5: No, I hope not. Actually, Hey, Mike, have you ever
- 4:08Speaker 5: had peanut butter? In your chest.
- 4:10Speaker 7: Heir, guys, all I will say is a The answer
- 4:14Speaker 7: is no, MB I have a peanut butter allergy, so
- 4:17Speaker 7: I don't want that. I'm certainly not going there. You
- 4:22Speaker 7: do you though, fellas appreciate it, Thank you very much.
- 4:25Speaker 7: Tough way here for this one to end this for
- 4:27Speaker 7: back at Tom's Watch Bar live right across from Climbing
- 4:30Speaker 7: Pledge Arena, in a game that was so close through
- 4:33Speaker 7: forty minutes of play, and perhaps Philip Grewbauer deserved better,
- 4:36Speaker 7: but when you score one goal, it puts a ton
- 4:38Speaker 7: of pressure essentially on how you play. And Minnesota pulls
- 4:41Speaker 7: away here in the third period as a crack and
- 4:44Speaker 7: fall to five and one and trying to figure things
- 4:46Speaker 7: out here still after going winless in the last six games.
- 4:50Speaker 7: Tonight it is a four to one final wild over
- 4:52Speaker 7: with a Kraken and a lot more to cover. As
- 4:55Speaker 7: once again, come on back and join us here if

- 8:05Speaker 7: Crack and play, and this thing is close as it
- 8:07Speaker 7: gets against a very tied checking opponent, but unfortunately on
- 8:11Speaker 7: their side, one goal just not enough here to get
- 8:13Speaker 7: it done, with Minnesota pulling away with a go ahead
- 8:16Speaker 7: goal by Marcus Johanson and a pair of empty net
- 8:19Speaker 7: goals to spite the efforts of goaltender Philip grew Bauer
- 8:22Speaker 7: in net. Once again the Kraken must wait one more
- 8:25Speaker 7: game here to break out of their windless skid. They
- 8:28Speaker 7: fall for one to the Minnesota Wild here in game
- 8:31Speaker 7: two of this home stand, Mike betting with you again
- 8:34Speaker 7: back across at Tom's watchbar, and the Cracking falling to
- 8:37Speaker 7: eleven ten and six with twenty eight points on the season,
- 8:41Speaker 7: and unfortunately a chance to get closer here to the
- 8:44Speaker 7: cut line falls by the wayside here. We'll catch you
- 8:47Speaker 7: up more on that later on as far as your
- 8:49Speaker 7: teaser with that, but the Kraken facing a Minnesota team,
- 8:53Speaker 7: the Wild improving now to sixteen nine and five with
- 8:57Speaker 7: thirty seven points finishing therefore game road trip with a victory,
- 9:02Speaker 7: and the Wild now have won six in a row
- 9:05Speaker 7: in the head to head set here at Climate Plagerina.
- 9:08Speaker 7: Time out for the highlights in this Sellokraken Drive to
- 9:10Speaker 7: the Nets scoring recap is brought to you by the
- 9:12Speaker 7: all new Chevy Tracks now bigger and Boulder Tracks is
- 9:16Speaker 7: the perfect assist.
- 9:17Speaker 1: For all of life's adventures.
- 9:19Speaker 7: The first period was characterized by this Philip Grubauer had
- 9:23Speaker 7: to be huge, and he was just that in the
- 9:25Speaker 7: early moments. Plus also Vince Dunn laying a big hit
- 9:28Speaker 7: on Matt Zucarella, who would not return to the game afterward,
- 9:32Speaker 7: has certainly set a very physical tone for the remainder
- 9:36Speaker 7: of this one, the two teams battling it out to
- 9:38Speaker 7: nothing nothing tie at the end of twenty minutes of play,
- 9:41Speaker 7: and then into period number two, Minnesota looking to make
- 9:45Speaker 7: their move.
- 9:46Speaker 14: Wild back an sidering pass in front and they score
- 9:51Speaker 14: that boldie from behind the goal. Joel Erickson Eck will
- 9:55Speaker 14: finish off the play and eighteen forty two left here
- 9:59Speaker 14: in this second the Wild to a one nothing lead.
- 10:02Speaker 7: Joel ericson Ech going right to the front of the
- 10:05Speaker 7: net and on brand Joel Erickson egg goal and that
- 10:08Speaker 7: helping him break out of a goal scoring slump.
- 10:11Speaker 1: His fifth on the year.
- 10:12Speaker 7: Coming one to eighteen into the second period courtesy Matt
- 10:16Speaker 7: Boldy and Jacob Middleton put the Wild out to a
- 10:18Speaker 7: one nothing advantage, and that helped Ericson Eck break out
- 10:21Speaker 7: of a seven game goal scoring skid. But the Krakend
- 10:25Speaker 7: getting their chances, and right here on the power play
- 10:28Speaker 7: against a very threatening Wild penalty kill, how could they
- 10:32Speaker 7: make their mark?
- 10:33Speaker 3: John takes the shot back to McCann backside, Stevenson in front.
- 10:38Speaker 15: Everly, Oh, captain, my captain on the power play, thirteen
- 10:51Speaker 15: to twelve to go on the second we're tied.
- 10:54Speaker 5: What why?
- 10:55Speaker 4: Well, it took just eight second of power play time
- 10:57Speaker 4: for McCann to set that one up. He feeds it
- 10:59Speaker 4: over to Stevenson. Stevenson with a quick pump Everly on
- 11:04Speaker 4: the back door and Everyly just has to redirect that
- 11:06Speaker 4: one in this game has won one time.
- 11:11Speaker 7: How tough has it been to score on the wild
- 11:13Speaker 7: penalty kill recently? Well, pretty tough when you consider they
- 11:17Speaker 7: had a run of nine consecutive games pitching a shutout
- 11:20Speaker 7: in the crack and finally breaking that with that goal
- 11:24Speaker 7: by Jordan Everly six forty eight into period two. It
- 11:27Speaker 7: was the first power play goal allowed by Minnesota since
- 11:31Speaker 7: November sixteen. Chandler Stephenson, in a six hundredth career NHL game,
- 11:36Speaker 7: picked up an assist on the play. He's got points
- 11:38Speaker 7: of back to back games. Jared McCann also with a
- 11:41Speaker 7: helper on Jordan Everly's ninth of the year, coming via
- 11:44Speaker 7: the power play at six forty eight h period two,
- 11:48Speaker 7: and you give kudos as well to Brandon Montur helping
- 11:50Speaker 7: draw the penalty for tripping on Matt Foldy, which helps
- 11:54Speaker 7: set matters up for a one to one tie. Both
- 11:57Speaker 7: teams taken that score, battling neck and neck into period three,
- 12:02Speaker 7: and as far as Minnesota was concerned, where were they
- 12:04Speaker 7: looking for third period offense?
- 12:06Speaker 5: You get ready to go for the Olympics in Milan Courttano.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Literally in a shot right side tip t in they
- 12:12Speaker 3: score for Minnesota Wild here in the offensive zone from
- 12:18Speaker 3: the right wing half wall. It's gonna be the former
- 12:21Speaker 3: cracking Marcus Joe Hanson burning his former team for a
- 12:26Speaker 3: two to one Wild lead eleven forty eight to play.
- 12:29Speaker 6: In the third.
- 12:30Speaker 7: All he had to do was just make a simple
- 12:32Speaker 7: play right toward the front of the net, and Johansson,
- 12:35Speaker 7: helping set a screen, got a redirection from Joel ericson
- 12:38Speaker 7: x shot at a twelve of period three, flipping it
- 12:42Speaker 7: right over the shoulder of Philip Grubauer and nothing munchs
- 12:44Speaker 7: of Kraken goaltender could do in that case, and you
- 12:47Speaker 7: saw the reaction perhaps from Ryan Lindgren smashing a stick
- 12:51Speaker 7: or trying to over the crossbar. A frustrating end on
- 12:54Speaker 7: that shift, which put Minnesota on top two one. Eight
- 12:57Speaker 7: twelve into period three, Johansen's ninth goal of the season
- 13:02Speaker 7: the Kraken, it seemed very next shift tied the game,
- 13:06Speaker 7: but Ty Cartier batton the puck out of mid air
- 13:10Speaker 7: into the open net bright pass. Goaltender Philip Gustafson had
- 13:14Speaker 7: the goal waved off because the puck was batted down
- 13:16Speaker 7: with a high stick above the crossbar, replays confirming that
- 13:21Speaker 7: and a tough turn of events with Minnesota maintaining their
- 13:24Speaker 7: two to one edge despite the crowd that was certainly
- 13:27Speaker 7: upset with the results at the very end of that
- 13:29Speaker 7: and also despite Kartier's best efforts as well where you
- 13:32Speaker 7: give him credit from there, Minnesota would wrap things up
- 13:34Speaker 7: in a pair of bat to back empty net goals,
- 13:36Speaker 7: Carill Caprisovs eighteenth coming with one fifteen to go in regulation,
- 13:41Speaker 7: Stirham and Spurgeon had the assist, and then Vladimir Tarasenko
- 13:45Speaker 7: wrapping things up with a minute left third goal on
- 13:48Speaker 7: the year from Ericson Eck to finish it off for
- 13:51Speaker 7: one wild over the Kraken is your final score, your
- 13:55Speaker 7: final shots on net twenty nine to twenty four in
- 13:57Speaker 7: favor of Minnesota special teams. This is where it was tough,
- 14:00Speaker 7: because the Kraken looked pretty good as far as building
- 14:04Speaker 7: a case in this game with a turnaround night on
- 14:07Speaker 7: the special team side, despite their struggles on the penalty kill,
- 14:11Speaker 7: there were three of three against Minnesota and also turned
- 14:13Speaker 7: in a one to three effort on the power play,
- 14:16Speaker 7: but only one goal getting by Philip Gusovson. It's a
- 14:20Speaker 7: tough ass to get two points from that kind of situation,
- 14:23Speaker 7: and Gussovsen, turning in a twenty three save effort on
- 14:25Speaker 7: twenty four shots, improves this record with a win to
- 14:28Speaker 7: eight eight and three. The loss of that two Philip Grubauer,
- 14:32Speaker 7: who had twenty five saves in this one and perhaps
- 14:35Speaker 7: deserving of a better fate, but takes his first loss
- 14:37Speaker 7: in regulation of the season. He is now for one
- 14:41Speaker 7: and one time. Now for the cors Light hillless moment.
- 14:44Speaker 7: So up the game, Cracking fans, you can win your
- 14:46Speaker 7: chance to sit in the super Chill Course Light silver
- 14:50Speaker 7: seats go to Corslight dot com forwards last Seattle Cracking
- 14:54Speaker 7: to enter. Must be twenty one years of age. No
- 14:57Speaker 7: purchase necessary corps Light choose Chi. I'll celebrate responsibly. But
- 15:02Speaker 7: here's one way to get your bench, and also the
- 15:06Speaker 7: home crowd up and going in period one.
- 15:09Speaker 5: But kay left side, but here's in front. Try to fight.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Everyly on the back door, and that passed too far
- 15:14Speaker 3: in front of him.
- 15:15Speaker 16: So.
- 15:17Speaker 1: That bed's done. Lowers the tom in the corner.
- 15:21Speaker 17: And now we've got a melee as super Rillo got
- 15:25Speaker 17: spun around bes Doune caught him in the train tracks
- 15:29Speaker 17: and it's taking everybody on in a white jersey.
- 15:33Speaker 1: What a hit.
- 15:36Speaker 7: You can call that one an old timer as far
- 15:38Speaker 7: as physical play and cracking history, Ben's done, lowering the
- 15:42Speaker 7: boom on Matt Zucarello, put the shoulder right into him,
- 15:45Speaker 7: and as far as the modern game is concerned, as
- 15:48Speaker 7: clean of a.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Hit as it gets.
- 15:50Speaker 7: The Wild didn't like it immediately, charging ad done and
- 15:53Speaker 7: a scrum breaking out right in the corner just seconds after.
- 15:56Speaker 7: But the tone was set on that hit by Done.
- 16:00Speaker 7: Fortunately for the Wild size Zucarello out of the dressing
- 16:03Speaker 7: room would not return, but don putting the hit on
- 16:06Speaker 7: the Wild forward certainly setting a threatening tone in this game.
- 16:10Speaker 7: End of the second period, though, the crack and needing
- 16:13Speaker 7: more heroics from their goaltender.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Dallas short handed breakaway yeah, cob tregand.
- 16:19Speaker 17: Down the slot.
- 16:20Speaker 14: Big same by Philip Grubauer one on one.
- 16:24Speaker 5: With Treggin and the Kraken back the other way.
- 16:28Speaker 7: And that save on Yakov Trenyon arguably Grubauer's biggest of
- 16:32Speaker 7: the night, and in that second period he faced nine
- 16:35Speaker 7: shots and turning away all nine of them. Early on
- 16:38Speaker 7: with a crack and trying to get their game and
- 16:40Speaker 7: gear they had to rely on. Their goaltender was certain
- 16:42Speaker 7: with certainly several high danger saves. That's a big reason
- 16:46Speaker 7: why that they were in the thick of this one,
- 16:47Speaker 7: as Philip Groupauer's breakaway save on Yakov Trenyon was also
- 16:51Speaker 7: our second moment here as far as our showlest moments
- 16:54Speaker 7: of the game, courtesy Corps Light as well Time out
- 16:57Speaker 7: for the Big Win, brought to you by the Evergreen
- 16:59Speaker 7: Council on Problem Gambling. Let's go to Toronto where the
- 17:03Speaker 7: Maple Leafs we're looking for and open and shutcase loses
- 17:08Speaker 7: the puck.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Open ice on the left wing for Tomorrows, dropping for
- 17:11Speaker 3: Colin in front for Riley god.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Morgan. Riley gets the Leafs on the board. It's one
- 17:29Speaker 1: to nothing. Morgan Riley on that goal.
- 17:32Speaker 7: With Austin Matthews giving all the offense goaltender Dennis held
- 17:36Speaker 7: to Be would need as their netminer, turning in a
- 17:39Speaker 7: twenty nine save effort for his first shutout of his
- 17:42Speaker 7: NHL career, and the Leafs blanking the Tampa Bay Lightning
- 17:46Speaker 7: to nothing on Monday, and they improved a four to
- 17:49Speaker 7: zero to one in their last five games. But what

- 21:43Speaker 1: Sough way for this one.
- 21:44Speaker 7: And when you consider this game was in the balance
- 21:46Speaker 7: through two periods of play and tied at one, but
- 21:49Speaker 7: in a period where the Kraken are usually at their
- 21:51Speaker 7: best and fine ways to pull away, is the wild

- 22:32Speaker 1: A light night in the NHL.
- 22:34Speaker 7: Is all done and for the crack and unfortunately a
- 22:37Speaker 7: chance gone by the wayside to make a move further
- 22:40Speaker 7: closer here to the cut line of the Western Conference.
- 22:42Speaker 7: Because the Los Angeles Kings beat the Utah Mammoth on
- 22:45Speaker 7: the road for to Adrian Kempe with a goal and
- 22:49Speaker 7: assists Joel Armia also with a pair of goals to
- 22:52Speaker 7: lead Los Angeles' side. So Utah stays at thirty one
- 22:55Speaker 7: points and the Krakens day three points back of them.
- 22:59Speaker 7: Say Lewis, Winnipeg, Chicago, all Idol, San Jose and Edmonton
- 23:04Speaker 7: tied with Utah at thirty one points. They were idle
- 23:07Speaker 7: as well elsewhere. We said earlier the Maple Leafs upending
- 23:10Speaker 7: Tampa Bay to nothing. Dennis Hildebeid turning in his first
- 23:14Speaker 7: career NHL shutout. Morgan Riley had a goal. He was

- 23:23Speaker 7: Nasam Kadri and Yegor Sharon Govic each picking up three
- 23:26Speaker 7: point evenings. And the Red Wings have just finished off
- 23:29Speaker 7: the Vancouver Canucks in a four to nothing shutout win
- 23:33Speaker 7: at Vancouver. James Van Riemsdyke, Andrew Cobb, Dylan Larkin, Nate
- 23:37Speaker 7: Danielson picking up the Red Wings offense in that game.

- 28:22Speaker 7: Wild Mike Benton Alconiski with you back across at Tom's
- 28:26Speaker 7: watch bar. Al joining us right now and ol opening
- 28:29Speaker 7: thoughts here for tonight. A lot of strain was put
- 28:33Speaker 7: on the krack and by themselves scoring just one goal
- 28:36Speaker 7: and too bad because it's filled a great hit by done,
- 28:39Speaker 7: a great effort by Philip Grubauer, and a great effort
- 28:41Speaker 7: by special teams.
- 28:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean you obviously are disappointed that the team
- 28:46Speaker 4: couldn't get it done even strength tonight. It was you know,
- 28:49Speaker 4: it was one of those things where you're happy they
- 28:51Speaker 4: got the power play goal because they hadn't done very
- 28:54Speaker 4: well in the power play is of late. You're happy
- 28:56Speaker 4: they went perfect on the PK, but a team like
- 28:59Speaker 4: Minnesota enough to score more than one to beat them,
- 29:01Speaker 4: and that was the case tonight.
- 29:02Speaker 7: Here are the thoughts from Cracking captain Jordan Eberley right
- 29:06Speaker 7: now back down stairs that Climate Pledge Arena meeting with
- 29:09Speaker 7: the media.
- 29:10Speaker 22: Jordaned abtually a tough one for you guys tonight, But
- 29:13Speaker 22: you guys, culdarly played a strong gid.
- 29:16Speaker 23: Uh Yeah, I mean, you know, you gotta find a way.
- 29:19Speaker 23: I don't care how you play. I think it just
- 29:21Speaker 23: comes down to, you know, we For me, it's just
- 29:25Speaker 23: we need to find a little bit better from everybody.
- 29:29Speaker 23: You know, you can say we're working hard, competing, but
- 29:31Speaker 23: I just think that, you know, we need to find
- 29:34Speaker 23: a little bit more from every single guy. I think
- 29:36Speaker 23: that comes down I've said this before. I think that
- 29:39Speaker 23: the line between winning and losing is so thin. You
- 29:42Speaker 23: feel like, I mean, obviously you've lost six in a
- 29:44Speaker 23: row now, and you know, you feel like you're it's
- 29:48Speaker 23: not great, Like you don't feel good. And I think
- 29:51Speaker 23: that you have to realize that, you know, a little
- 29:53Speaker 23: bit here puts you over that edge and you start
- 29:55Speaker 23: winning again. But yeah, I mean we got to find
- 29:59Speaker 23: a way.
- 30:00Speaker 6: Seemed like Grooby deserved better.
- 30:01Speaker 4: He played pretty well tonight.
- 30:02Speaker 23: Yeah, Grooby played great. He especially early on. He you know,
- 30:06Speaker 23: he stood on his head there when they kind of
- 30:08Speaker 23: were breating this at the start, So he gaves a
- 30:10Speaker 23: chance to win. I think it, Uh could he did
- 30:13Speaker 23: a great job tonight.
- 30:15Speaker 24: When you say you need see more from everybody where,
- 30:18Speaker 24: how do you guys cause that you know, as a.
- 30:20Speaker 6: Group, but where else do you feel like you guys
- 30:22Speaker 6: can kind of pull that out?
- 30:23Speaker 23: No, I think the efforts there. I know the guys
- 30:24Speaker 23: are working hard and competing. I just think that we
- 30:26Speaker 23: need to find you know, whether it's you got to
- 30:28Speaker 23: make an offensive play, whether you've gotta win a battle,
- 30:30Speaker 23: whether you've got to you know, make a wall play,
- 30:32Speaker 23: whether you've got a block shot.
- 30:33Speaker 1: We just need more.
- 30:34Speaker 23: We need more, will we need more, you know, more
- 30:38Speaker 23: passion to win hockey games. You know this is a
- 30:40Speaker 23: good team. I know we are. I've been you know,
- 30:44Speaker 23: been on a lot of teams and I know we're
- 30:45Speaker 23: a good team. We just have to find a way
- 30:48Speaker 23: to get back to you know the process of being detailed,
- 30:52Speaker 23: being hard to play against. And you know, the more
- 30:56Speaker 23: you do that each night, more consistent, youre gonna win games.
- 31:00Speaker 7: Well, ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking, and
- 31:03Speaker 7: you can certainly tell urgency is growing. Those words from
- 31:06Speaker 7: cracking captain Jordan Everley, with the only goal coming from
- 31:10Speaker 7: the captain here of this seaning in the power play
- 31:11Speaker 7: at six forty eight, as the Crack is still looking

- 36:19Speaker 7: up right now with your instant reaction to this game,
- 36:21Speaker 7: your final score again Cracking follow the Minnesota Wild four

- 36:25Speaker 1: Mike Betton, Alkiniski with you.

- 36:31Speaker 7: Great to be back here once again. Two stories plenty
- 36:35Speaker 7: of foods, screens, vibes, and the Kracking looking to get
- 36:38Speaker 7: back into the wind Colin where hopefully it's a happier
- 36:40Speaker 7: party coming up here on Wednesday. But Alkiniski joining us
- 36:44Speaker 7: right now, and now, before I get into all of this,
- 36:47Speaker 7: let's revisit the comments here from Cracking Captain Jordan Everley
- 36:51Speaker 7: and folks. This is very very important to pay attention to.
- 36:55Speaker 7: And this was his answer in the final portion of
- 36:58Speaker 7: his scrum of the media once ago.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Fritz Aarah.
- 37:01Speaker 23: I know the guys are working hard and competing. I
- 37:03Speaker 23: just think that we need to find you know, whether
- 37:05Speaker 23: it's you got to make an offensive play, whether you've
- 37:07Speaker 23: gotta win a battle, whether you gotta you know, make
- 37:08Speaker 23: a wall play, whether you got a block shot. We
- 37:10Speaker 23: just need more, We need more, will we need more,
- 37:14Speaker 23: you know, more passion to win hockey games. You know
- 37:17Speaker 23: this is a good team. I know we are. I've
- 37:19Speaker 23: been you know, been on a lot of teams, and
- 37:22Speaker 23: I know we're a good team. We just have to
- 37:24Speaker 23: find a way to get back to you know, the
- 37:27Speaker 23: process of being detailed, being hard to play against. And
- 37:32Speaker 23: you know, the more you do that each night, more consistent,
- 37:35Speaker 23: you're gonna win games.
- 37:36Speaker 7: Four nine four five one. Textas your reaction right now,
- 37:39Speaker 7: four nine four five one. And now what I get
- 37:42Speaker 7: hat out of here is this. When you score one
- 37:45Speaker 7: goal in a game like this and you're trying to
- 37:48Speaker 7: break out of an O four and one skit, all
- 37:50Speaker 7: it gets you, unfortunately, is a spoiled effort from your goalie,
- 37:54Speaker 7: a spoiled effort from your special teams, and now your
- 37:56Speaker 7: captain going the call out round.
- 37:58Speaker 4: Well, it just goes to show you you know how
- 38:00Speaker 4: height hockey games are, and that you know one or
- 38:02Speaker 4: two mistakes can be the difference between one in the game,
- 38:05Speaker 4: win in a game one nothing and losing a game
- 38:07Speaker 4: two to one. And you know, Jordan Eberdy's right more
- 38:10Speaker 4: of a passion to win a lot of those details
- 38:12Speaker 4: that he talked about. He's speaking truth in that answer there,
- 38:15Speaker 4: and you know, hopefully that's what's being said in the
- 38:17Speaker 4: locker room as well. You know after a game like that,
- 38:19Speaker 4: before the coaches come in, is exactly what Jordan said
- 38:23Speaker 4: there and the answer to that question, that's what everybody
- 38:25Speaker 4: needs to needs to hear.
- 38:26Speaker 7: Oh, this is going to really set the table I
- 38:28Speaker 7: think for Lane Lambert's postgame press conference, and we're going
- 38:30Speaker 7: to hear from this getting toward the end of our
- 38:33Speaker 7: Talking Cracking portion of this evening's broadcast. But I go
- 38:37Speaker 7: back and think of where the roots of Jordan Eberly's
- 38:41Speaker 7: reaction comes from, and the first period the crack and
- 38:44Speaker 7: built a terrific case. They were oning the edge and
- 38:47Speaker 7: shot attempts. The metrics say shot quality as well, very
- 38:51Speaker 7: much on their side. But the third period is not
- 38:54Speaker 7: just a factor that Minnesota really tilted scales I think
- 38:57Speaker 7: in their favor for the metrics, but also you go
- 39:01Speaker 7: back and consider the game is still essentially up for grabs.
- 39:05Speaker 7: A two to one, you pull the goalie, you battle,
- 39:07Speaker 7: you tie things up, boom, brand new game. Anything can happen.
- 39:10Speaker 7: But I think it was just the quickness of how
- 39:14Speaker 7: both Minnesota Wild empty net goals came.
- 39:18Speaker 1: That's also a cause of concern. Yeah.
- 39:20Speaker 4: One of the things that to me too, you know,
- 39:21Speaker 4: talking about stats, was the high danger chances seven for
- 39:24Speaker 4: Seattle eleven for the While they were just given too
- 39:27Speaker 4: many opportunities to score goals. Two of those high danger
- 39:30Speaker 4: chances were breakaways that Philip Grubauer had to come up
- 39:33Speaker 4: with big saves on. But you're giving a team not
- 39:35Speaker 4: many chances, it's no surprise they end up on top
- 39:39Speaker 4: in a game like this, So that's going to get
- 39:41Speaker 4: tightened up as well.
- 39:42Speaker 7: I'm gonna go back to the first period where we
- 39:45Speaker 7: saw a real big u turn for special teams, and
- 39:49Speaker 7: it began with the penalty killing. Because we've said this before,
- 39:53Speaker 7: it's really seemed as if something's amiss, but get you
- 39:56Speaker 7: take a penalty over a minute end of the game.
- 39:58Speaker 7: Philip Grubauer first pen kill was your best player on
- 40:01Speaker 7: the ice. That save on Hartman was unbelievable. Yes, And
- 40:04Speaker 7: then the second penalty kill.
- 40:07Speaker 4: It went better. There were there were no shots on
- 40:08Speaker 4: goal logs in that one, so a lot better penalty kill.
- 40:11Speaker 4: But you know, I again, you don't want to be
- 40:14Speaker 4: testing that all night against a team that's got a
- 40:16Speaker 4: team that's got Carell capriceof and Matt Boldy on it.
- 40:19Speaker 7: So you come up with a third kill as well,
- 40:22Speaker 7: and it shows that things are starting to turn the corner.
- 40:25Speaker 7: And while and this is what I was gonna get
- 40:27Speaker 7: at here, you want to stay out of the box
- 40:29Speaker 7: as much as possible, especially for how good Minnesota's power
- 40:32Speaker 7: play is. But yet, what did we see as far
- 40:35Speaker 7: as steps forward with the crack and p K.
- 40:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean they did a better job of not
- 40:40Speaker 4: getting stuck out in no man's land. And what I
- 40:43Speaker 4: mean by that is you can play a diamond, you
- 40:45Speaker 4: can play a square, whatever you want to play. You
- 40:47Speaker 4: just can't expand that shape where it's too big because
- 40:51Speaker 4: that opens up those scene passes in the middle that Edmonton,
- 40:54Speaker 4: Edmonton loved to find across the hash marks. So you
- 40:57Speaker 4: do have to attack when and when when you need
- 40:59Speaker 4: to but it stops and starts at straight lines, and
- 41:02Speaker 4: I thought that the cracking did a better job of
- 41:04Speaker 4: getting out attacking, but getting back into position very quickly.
- 41:07Speaker 7: And here's one thing is that I noticed a change
- 41:09Speaker 7: in structure as well, you as well, and I saw
- 41:12Speaker 7: a bit of a move to a diamond formation here
- 41:14Speaker 7: for this penalty kill. But we saw, I think, really
- 41:17Speaker 7: where the groundwork was laid this morning. Virtually the entire
- 41:21Speaker 7: team was on the ice well before their ten to
- 41:23Speaker 7: fifteen morning skate was supposed to start. This was critical
- 41:27Speaker 7: to get locked into place, and they were going hard
- 41:29Speaker 7: at the penalty kill very early on this morning.
- 41:31Speaker 1: Yeah, that's just it.
- 41:32Speaker 18: You know.
- 41:32Speaker 4: You think about that early morning skate and lots of
- 41:35Speaker 4: times there is focus on the special teams and you
- 41:38Speaker 4: assume it's to let the guys on the power play
- 41:40Speaker 4: snap the puck around. But it was just important this
- 41:42Speaker 4: morning to have those guys do that but also have
- 41:45Speaker 4: the penalty kill be very sharp. And I think that
- 41:48Speaker 4: Lane Lambert was calling out accolades when the penalty kill
- 41:51Speaker 4: was coming up with a big stop in that time.
- 41:54Speaker 7: This morning, Jordan Everley had the only power play goal
- 41:57Speaker 7: of the evening and for the only goal as well.
- 41:59Speaker 7: Here as a crack and go one of three. But
- 42:01Speaker 7: here's something that really caught my eye. One power play goal,
- 42:05Speaker 7: but just on three shots, you're also one of three
- 42:08Speaker 7: on the power play.
- 42:09Speaker 1: The question bears and it might be a lay up.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Here are the Kraken shooting the puck enough?
- 42:14Speaker 4: Well, you know you gotta look at shot attempts on
- 42:15Speaker 4: a power play as well, because, yes, you want to
- 42:17Speaker 4: see shots on goal. But if I see shot ten
- 42:20Speaker 4: shot attempts and no shots on goal, that just tells
- 42:23Speaker 4: me that pucks are getting blocked, pucks are getting deflected
- 42:26Speaker 4: past the net, pucks are getting intercepted. And that's the
- 42:29Speaker 4: first step of scoring in a power play is shot attempts. Eventually,
- 42:33Speaker 4: you do have to get something to the front of
- 42:35Speaker 4: the net, but you know, in the in the course
- 42:37Speaker 4: of that two minutes, eventually something's gonna go off of
- 42:41Speaker 4: a knee pad, something off a deflection. I mean, look
- 42:45Speaker 4: at the game winning goal from Minnesota. Johansen goes to
- 42:47Speaker 4: the front of the net. It's a backhand saucer.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Mic Like, it's not even a ra It was off
- 42:51Speaker 1: a screen.
- 42:52Speaker 4: It's a backhand saucer. So yes, it's a defensive breakdown.
- 42:55Speaker 4: But it wasn't a big Brandon montour boom. You know,
- 42:58Speaker 4: it's a saucer that just gets redirected. And I don't
- 43:00Speaker 4: know if that would have made it to the net
- 43:02Speaker 4: had it not been redirected.
- 43:04Speaker 1: But the point is is.
- 43:04Speaker 4: That you've got to get the pucks to that vicinity
- 43:07Speaker 4: so the guys can deflect them. And even if it's
- 43:09Speaker 4: slightly wide, that's okay. I can as a forward, I
- 43:12Speaker 4: can redirect or I can deflect that puck back on net.
- 43:15Speaker 7: Simple gets it done a lot and pretty funny enough.
- 43:19Speaker 7: How simple is enough? Sometimes you just throw it right
- 43:22Speaker 7: out the net, and that's where you get your offense.
- 43:24Speaker 7: In Minnesota certainly prove that with the game winning goal
- 43:26Speaker 7: by Marcus Johansson, by the way, the crack and five
- 43:29Speaker 7: shot attempts by the way on a power play, Minnesota
- 43:32Speaker 7: had one as far as five arm four power play
- 43:34Speaker 7: situations again four nine four or five one Texas right
- 43:37Speaker 7: now on the kJ R text and I we're gonna
- 43:39Speaker 7: hear from the krack and head coach Lane Lambert coming
- 43:41Speaker 7: up here in just a bit, Mike Benton al Kaniski
- 43:43Speaker 7: back at Tom's watch, bar I want to bring up
- 43:46Speaker 7: goaltending here, because Philip Grubauer tonight took his first loss
- 43:50Speaker 7: in regulation. And this is where we often say, don't
- 43:54Speaker 7: look at the box score and the final score to
- 43:57Speaker 7: determine how good a goaltender was a game like this.
- 44:01Speaker 7: Grubauer tonight, facing twenty seven shots, made twenty five saves
- 44:05Speaker 7: plenty were of the high danger of variety, and especially
- 44:09Speaker 7: in the first period. This is where the Kraken stayed
- 44:12Speaker 7: afloat because of Philip Grubauer.
- 44:14Speaker 4: Yeah, when you look at those box scores, you got
- 44:16Speaker 4: to look for that e M. That empty net symbol there,
- 44:18Speaker 4: which means Philip Grubauer wasn't on the ice for that goal.
- 44:21Speaker 1: So you're right, Mike.
- 44:22Speaker 4: You know two goals will get credited against him, the
- 44:24Speaker 4: other two will be empty netters. And you know it
- 44:26Speaker 4: was the two breakaways that he stopped early in the game.
- 44:28Speaker 4: It was the penalty kill obviously. You know he has
- 44:31Speaker 4: to be your best penalty killer out there. You know,
- 44:33Speaker 4: you saw him keep the puck in front of him.
- 44:36Speaker 4: You saw him chop at pucks when they were in skates,
- 44:38Speaker 4: clearing them into the corners. Just a solid, very technical
- 44:41Speaker 4: game for Philip Grubauer to make.
- 44:43Speaker 7: I think also, what you'd take away from this if
- 44:45Speaker 7: you're the Kraken is you had your goaltender bail you out,
- 44:49Speaker 7: especially in the first period.
- 44:51Speaker 1: But this is.
- 44:52Speaker 7: Against the Minnesota team that does usually not get four
- 44:55Speaker 7: or five, six, seven goals each night, like Edmonton, like Colorado.
- 45:00Speaker 7: So what happens when you face Colorado coming in This
- 45:03Speaker 7: is essentially a warning shot to get your game buttoned
- 45:06Speaker 7: up early.
- 45:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, it's going to be a test of
- 45:08Speaker 4: the Krakens defensive zone structure. And you know, I don't know.
- 45:11Speaker 4: I mean, I haven't looked that closely at the teams
- 45:12Speaker 4: that Colorado's played, but the Kracken aren't the only team
- 45:15Speaker 4: in the league that are focusing on this defensive structure
- 45:18Speaker 4: style hockey.
- 45:18Speaker 6: But it's good.
- 45:19Speaker 1: You've got to make it very.
- 45:20Speaker 4: Difficult for any team, especially the Colorado Avalanche, to get
- 45:24Speaker 4: those scoring opportunities, and you certainly don't want to give
- 45:27Speaker 4: them opportunities off the rush.
- 45:28Speaker 7: Let's go back and revisit here the offensive production issues,
- 45:31Speaker 7: because again we said earlier here, the last couple of
- 45:34Speaker 7: games showed that they were finding ways to generate shot attempts,
- 45:39Speaker 7: get the puck up ice as well, and that essentially
- 45:41Speaker 7: is the end game for their defensive structure. Don't just
- 45:44Speaker 7: sit back, it's get the puck back, move it back
- 45:48Speaker 7: up bys And we saw maybe a trend in the
- 45:50Speaker 7: right direction here for period one, but still again you
- 45:53Speaker 7: come up only with one goal. You have to ask
- 45:56Speaker 7: the question where do you begin to work at this
- 45:58Speaker 7: and not I think number two? Also, how much again
- 46:01Speaker 7: does this team miss change Schwartz.
- 46:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean both of those things are true. You've
- 46:05Speaker 4: got to work on the five on five scoring opportunities.
- 46:09Speaker 4: It's about crisp passing. I think too many times it
- 46:12Speaker 4: got sloppy a little bit through the neutral zone, a
- 46:15Speaker 4: couple of zone entries into the offensive ice ice whenever
- 46:18Speaker 4: giveaways right at the offensive blue line, which are just killers.
- 46:21Speaker 4: You got all this momentum coming out of your zone
- 46:23Speaker 4: through the neutral zone, but to give it up with
- 46:25Speaker 4: that offensive blue line and have to go back and
- 46:27Speaker 4: play back checking defense, that's frustrating. So getting the puck
- 46:31Speaker 4: into the offensive end, either with control or on a
- 46:33Speaker 4: dump and then going and getting that puck so so
- 46:36Speaker 4: important to getting the offensive opportunities even strength.
- 46:39Speaker 7: Again four nine, four to five one on the KJR
- 46:41Speaker 7: text line, let's jump in right now with some reaction
- 46:43Speaker 7: and from the four to two five saying bumper that
- 46:46Speaker 7: ty Carcier's goal was still in a way. The final
- 46:50Speaker 7: score wasn't good, but Special Team took a step forward
- 46:52Speaker 7: tonight onto Wednesday's game. I will say this, Al, you
- 46:56Speaker 7: said it. You got to call balls and strikes. Astick
- 46:58Speaker 7: was above the crossbar. There's no other way around it.
- 47:01Speaker 7: But you can't again knock the effort by ty Carcier.
- 47:05Speaker 7: That's gonna get pats on the back from your coach
- 47:08Speaker 7: goal or no goal when you go back to the bench.
- 47:10Speaker 4: Yeah, and I don't think there's a situation where he
- 47:12Speaker 4: could have done much differently. And that's you know, on
- 47:14Speaker 4: that goal, you might think, well, why wouldn't you wait
- 47:16Speaker 4: until the puck was below the crossbar. He was basically
- 47:19Speaker 4: below the goal line behind the net, So you're not
- 47:21Speaker 4: gonna be able to hit that puck once it drops
- 47:23Speaker 4: below the crossbar. So I like the effort, like the
- 47:26Speaker 4: I like the skill connecting your two and a half
- 47:29Speaker 4: inch three inch blade of your stick with a tiny
- 47:31Speaker 4: little puck that you not hand. Coordination is really important,
- 47:35Speaker 4: and he'll he'll get another chance to put a goal
- 47:36Speaker 4: like that in when he's in front of the net.
- 47:38Speaker 7: Two oh six brings this up, and I love that
- 47:41Speaker 7: Steven from the two oh six brings this up. The
- 47:43Speaker 7: Vin's Done hit back in period one. That's a clean
- 47:45Speaker 7: hockey hit by Done. Even in today's NHL, that.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Is clean hockey. That from the two oh six. There's
- 47:51Speaker 1: no way around it.
- 47:52Speaker 7: Zukarello, and you feel so bad for him because he
- 47:55Speaker 7: had to go off the ice and wasn't seeing rest
- 47:57Speaker 7: of the game and you hope he's okay, but he
- 47:59Speaker 7: just win right across the tracks and Done came in
- 48:03Speaker 7: like a freight track.
- 48:04Speaker 4: Yeah, let's talk about that for a second. So you
- 48:07Speaker 4: look at the replay slow motion, as slow as you
- 48:09Speaker 4: can get it. You see Dunn's initial contact go to
- 48:13Speaker 4: Zucarilla's shoulder. Now, when you watch it at high speed,
- 48:15Speaker 4: you see Zucilla's head snap. You see his face hit
- 48:18Speaker 4: the ice after they hit. You know, you hope he's okay,
- 48:21Speaker 4: But I don't know what effect that head snap or
- 48:24Speaker 4: that face hitting the ice was on him not playing
- 48:26Speaker 4: the game. But either way, it's that initial contact that
- 48:29Speaker 4: makes it a clean hit. You hit somebody's shoulder to shoulder.
- 48:33Speaker 4: Of course their head's gonna stap. That's inertia. You know,
- 48:36Speaker 4: I think it's inertia from science class.
- 48:37Speaker 7: But but I'm not a big science sky. I wasn't
- 48:40Speaker 7: a big science s guy in school. But I mean,
- 48:43Speaker 7: at least we do know that is inertia. That's what
- 48:45Speaker 7: makes it a clean hit, exactly easy to the eye.
- 48:48Speaker 4: So you can't stop that head snap which you can
- 48:50Speaker 4: stop is the initial again, underscore initial contact being to
- 48:55Speaker 4: the head. And if that were the case, I'd be
- 48:57Speaker 4: the first one to say that's a penalty for Vince.
- 49:00Speaker 7: Now here's one question to ask, because al you grew
- 49:03Speaker 7: up playing in a much, much, much different era, and
- 49:07Speaker 7: when you consider the the Seattle Thunderbirds and then trapped
- 49:12Speaker 7: by the Philadelphia Flyers, let's just say physical hockey.
- 49:16Speaker 1: Is a prerequisite. Now.
- 49:18Speaker 7: Now here's here, here, here's where I want to get
- 49:20Speaker 7: to a hit like that. I mean, once upon a
- 49:24Speaker 7: time in the NHL, you didn't have a scrum after
- 49:27Speaker 7: every clean hit.
- 49:28Speaker 1: We're getting almost every time.
- 49:29Speaker 4: Now, no, I know. And it's funny. We chat it
- 49:31Speaker 4: with JT. Brown about that after the period. He goes, oh, yeah,
- 49:34Speaker 4: you got to react to that, And I just thought.
- 49:36Speaker 4: I get it if it's a star player, and even
- 49:39Speaker 4: in the nineties and junior hockey, you can't touch me.
- 49:42Speaker 4: You do that to a star player, you're gonna get
- 49:44Speaker 4: a reaction. But if two fourth lines go out and
- 49:47Speaker 4: they hit each other like that, I don't think anybody's
- 49:49Speaker 4: doing anything. They're just going to grind like that. And
- 49:52Speaker 4: it's very different hockey now, where a big open ice hit,
- 49:54Speaker 4: a big hit along along the wall, clean or not,
- 49:57Speaker 4: you get that response. And I listen, I love I
- 50:00Speaker 4: standing up for each other. I don't have a problem
- 50:02Speaker 4: with that. That's today's hockey, but it was very different
- 50:04Speaker 4: in the nineties.
- 50:05Speaker 7: For one two asking anybody from Coachella Valley ready to
- 50:10Speaker 7: come up for a couple of games, can you shake
- 50:13Speaker 7: things up right now to address the offensive issues that
- 50:15Speaker 7: from the four one two?
- 50:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, listen, there's always gonna be that opportunity.
- 50:19Speaker 4: You got Berkeley Catton out of the lineup right now,
- 50:21Speaker 4: you got the Jannie Newman in the lineup. Finally had
- 50:23Speaker 4: a pretty good game tonight, by the way, looked better
- 50:26Speaker 4: than last game, and a couple of shot of a
- 50:28Speaker 4: few shot attempts for him. But yeah, I think that's all.
- 50:31Speaker 4: That option is always on the table. You know, you've
- 50:34Speaker 4: got Cale Flurry on the back end, You've got Jamie
- 50:37Speaker 4: alexiak out, so you've got two healthy guys in the
- 50:40Speaker 4: press in the press box for the game. So from
- 50:43Speaker 4: a roster control standpoint or or you know that sort
- 50:47Speaker 4: of thing, you have to be careful about what you do.
- 50:49Speaker 4: But I'd like to see, you know, a Jacob Mallonson
- 50:52Speaker 4: come come up. I'd like to see Ben Myers come
- 50:54Speaker 4: back up. There's a there's a handful of names that
- 50:57Speaker 4: I think, uh, you know, would would benefit of being
- 51:00Speaker 4: back in this lineup for a game or two.
- 51:01Speaker 7: We saw Oscar Fisker Mouleguard and again many reports say
- 51:05Speaker 7: he's got a fright a bright future, and we saw
- 51:07Speaker 7: it with our very eyes and right now twelve points
- 51:10Speaker 7: to nineteen games, but plays a game that is very
- 51:13Speaker 7: very translating here to Lane Lambert's system. And again again
- 51:16Speaker 7: the question is how soon here for twenty one year
- 51:19Speaker 7: old Jagger Fergus, who leads Coachella Valley with twenty three
- 51:22Speaker 7: points in twenty one games.
- 51:23Speaker 4: Yeah, those are another two names, and I mean, if
- 51:25Speaker 4: I'm putting together five on my list, those two were
- 51:27Speaker 4: probably in the top five. And when uh Oscar Fisker
- 51:30Speaker 4: Mulgar was here, I thought that he looked good. He
- 51:33Speaker 4: looked like he fit at this level, and I think
- 51:35Speaker 4: with enough games he would develop into probably a middle
- 51:39Speaker 4: six forward very easily.
- 51:41Speaker 7: All Right, We're gonna step out here for a second
- 51:43Speaker 7: and come right back with Lane Lambert's reaction the crack
- 51:45Speaker 7: out again fall for one of the Minnesota Wild this
- 51:48Speaker 7: evening in their second game with the homestand a climb
- 51:50Speaker 7: and pledge arena from Tom's watch bar, Mike Bett and
- 51:53Speaker 7: Alkiniski with you.
- 51:54Speaker 1: We'll come back in a bit, Dan.
- 51:56Speaker 7: This is talking Cracking on ninety three to three KJRFM.
- 52:00Speaker 2: Now back to Duck and Cracking with Mike Minton on
- 52:04Speaker 2: your home of a crack in.
- 52:05Speaker 4: Sports Radio Letty three point three kJ.
- 52:08Speaker 7: R FL back at Tom's watchbar right across from climbing
- 52:12Speaker 7: pledge arena the cracking fall for one two the Minnesota Wild,
- 52:15Speaker 7: and we get more reaction here from X with a
- 52:17Speaker 7: hand of Leba to Butler, just asking for more net
- 52:20Speaker 7: from presidence and look at a have a better recognition
- 52:22Speaker 7: of backdoor opportunities here in this game. And now from
- 52:25Speaker 7: leab it to Butler on X the cracking again falling
- 52:28Speaker 7: for one to Minnesota, but Jordan Eberley picking up the
- 52:31Speaker 7: only Kraken goal via the power play. Let's check back
- 52:34Speaker 7: in right back downstairs for more reaction with crackenhead coach
- 52:38Speaker 7: Lane Lambert.
- 52:40Speaker 18: Jordan just told us that he thinks we need a
- 52:43Speaker 18: little bit and you guys need a little bit more
- 52:45Speaker 18: from everybody.
- 52:46Speaker 6: How do you feel about that?
- 52:48Speaker 22: Take on?
- 52:48Speaker 6: And also how do you think the team played tonight?
- 52:51Speaker 26: I thought we started the game slowly, which you know
- 52:55Speaker 26: when you've lost four in a row, and I you know,
- 52:57Speaker 26: I haven't won a game in five. That's disappointing to me.
- 53:01Speaker 26: I thought our goaltendor was outstanding tonight, gave us a
- 53:04Speaker 26: chance to win. I would agree with his assessment that
- 53:08Speaker 26: we need more from everybody. You know, we we have
- 53:12Speaker 26: to have everybody playing well and we just can't afford
- 53:17Speaker 26: to have any passengers. And I didn't think I didn't
- 53:19Speaker 26: think everyone brought their best tonight.
- 53:22Speaker 24: How'd you feel the team responded after ties goal was
- 53:25Speaker 24: waved off or confirmed no goal?
- 53:29Speaker 6: How did we respond?
- 53:31Speaker 26: I mean, you know, I thought the third period, I
- 53:35Speaker 26: thought we could have generated a little bit more, but certainly,
- 53:39Speaker 26: you know, we had some opportunities. Again, we're you know,
- 53:43Speaker 26: we're in a third period at home in a tie game,
- 53:46Speaker 26: and you know, take away the empty nit goals.
- 53:49Speaker 6: That's you know, basically three one goal losses, so and
- 53:54Speaker 6: all in the third period.
- 53:56Speaker 26: So we you know, we we haven't been good enough
- 53:59Speaker 26: in that situation, and we were earlier in the year,
- 54:05Speaker 26: and you know, right now it's it's we're going through
- 54:08Speaker 26: a tough time and we have to stay positive and
- 54:11Speaker 26: work our way through.
- 54:11Speaker 6: It's the only thing we can do. But we have
- 54:13Speaker 6: to be better.
- 54:14Speaker 24: And you could see Ryan's frustration after the wild second goal,
- 54:18Speaker 24: when what do you from your vantage point, what do
- 54:20Speaker 24: you feel like you could have done differently on that play?
- 54:22Speaker 5: Uh?
- 54:23Speaker 26: Yeah, I think I think he probably could have went
- 54:25Speaker 26: out the other side. You know, that's probably what he
- 54:28Speaker 26: was looking at as well, you know, instead of bringing
- 54:30Speaker 26: it up the strong side wall.
- 54:31Speaker 6: But you know, that was that was a play that
- 54:35Speaker 6: was made. That's the play that.
- 54:36Speaker 26: Happened, and and you know we uh, you know, I
- 54:39Speaker 26: thought we responded with a goal from from Carha, but
- 54:42Speaker 26: you know, it was just a little bit too too
- 54:44Speaker 26: much of a high.
- 54:45Speaker 16: Stick lane it appeared that the defensive coverage from both
- 54:50Speaker 16: the forwards and the defenseman wasn't as good as it
- 54:54Speaker 16: could have been, Like on Johnson's winning goal and the
- 54:59Speaker 16: early power plays that the the wild we're having more
- 55:06Speaker 16: time and space than probably what would have been optimism.
- 55:11Speaker 16: There were the two breakaways where if if Krubauer hadn't
- 55:16Speaker 16: stood on his head, this might not have been as
- 55:19Speaker 16: close a game. Is that something that you'll be looking
- 55:24Speaker 16: at in that it that's easier to fix than figuring
- 55:27Speaker 16: out how to score more goals?
- 55:29Speaker 6: Well?
- 55:30Speaker 26: Yeah, I mean, you know, we've talked all year long
- 55:32Speaker 26: about what what is what is our identity? And we've
- 55:37Speaker 26: had some some defensive breakdowns for sure.
- 55:41Speaker 6: I thought, you know, aside from.
- 55:42Speaker 26: The breakaway that you alluded to on the on the
- 55:46Speaker 26: on their power play, I thought our penalty killing was
- 55:49Speaker 26: better tonight, you know, and our goaltender played well on
- 55:51Speaker 26: the penalty kill.
- 55:54Speaker 5: You know.
- 55:54Speaker 26: But I think that, you know, as far as our
- 55:57Speaker 26: d zone is concerned and our pressure, it's not as
- 56:01Speaker 26: good as it was, you know, maybe five or ten
- 56:03Speaker 26: games ago, and we've got to get it better.
- 56:06Speaker 23: Coach, you had a new look with Newman and Cocko
- 56:10Speaker 23: and Shane Wright tonight, it seemed like they spent a
- 56:11Speaker 23: decent amount of time.
- 56:12Speaker 6: The offensive zone. Why did you think of that? That trio? Yeah,
- 56:15Speaker 6: they were.
- 56:15Speaker 26: They played together in Edmonton as well, and you know,
- 56:18Speaker 26: I thought they were. I thought they were effective in
- 56:21Speaker 26: that in that game as well. So I I like
- 56:24Speaker 26: their line tonight. I didn't mind their line at all.
- 56:27Speaker 26: You know, I thought I thought Shane was skating. I
- 56:29Speaker 26: thought he was doing some things with the puck. And
- 56:32Speaker 26: and you know, so we'll see where we go from here.
- 56:35Speaker 26: You know, our injuries of of sort of, you know,
- 56:38Speaker 26: with Schwartz being out and and now kat and being out,
- 56:41Speaker 26: our lines have been shuffled.
- 56:42Speaker 16: And then big picture and from your experience, I mean
- 56:45Speaker 16: when a teams going through a slumth like this, I mean,
- 56:47Speaker 16: what needs to happen to break out of it?
- 56:49Speaker 6: Well, you know you have to.
- 56:51Speaker 26: First thing is is that you know it's a this
- 56:53Speaker 26: is a this is a ruthless league, a national hockey league.
- 56:56Speaker 6: Nobody cares.
- 56:57Speaker 26: Nobody cares if you've lost four or five games in
- 57:00Speaker 26: a row, LA is going to come in here and
- 57:02Speaker 26: try and give it to us again. You know, So
- 57:06Speaker 26: you got to find your way out of it by
- 57:07Speaker 26: staying positive and by being determined. You know, that's the
- 57:12Speaker 26: only way you can do it. You got to find
- 57:14Speaker 26: a way to get past it.
- 57:16Speaker 21: Both special teams units have been struggling coming into the game,
- 57:19Speaker 21: but you kill all three penalties on one side and
- 57:21Speaker 21: get a power play goal on the other side.
- 57:23Speaker 6: What did you think about the difference there tonight.
- 57:25Speaker 26: Well, it was it was very very good for us
- 57:28Speaker 26: from that standpoint. You know, we we won the so
- 57:32Speaker 26: called special team's battle, which you know we haven't done
- 57:37Speaker 26: for a little bit here, So that's a step in
- 57:39Speaker 26: the right direction. Definitely a positive from that standpoint, you know.
- 57:43Speaker 26: And we in the second period, you know, right at
- 57:46Speaker 26: the end Tolven it hits the crossbar and you know
- 57:48Speaker 26: we hit a goal post. So you know, right now,
- 57:51Speaker 26: just it's not coming easy, you know, and sometimes you
- 57:56Speaker 26: just you know, it gets a little bit worse before
- 57:58Speaker 26: it gets better. But you got to you gotta find
- 58:00Speaker 26: your way out of it.
- 58:02Speaker 7: Well, straightforward talk there from crackenhead coach Lane Lambert. Mean,
- 58:05Speaker 7: with the media downstairs right across the street to climb
- 58:07Speaker 7: the pledge, we're gonna Indeed, it is a ruthless league,
- 58:10Speaker 7: and I mean the reaction here to this is that
- 58:12Speaker 7: you can huff, you can puff, you can scheme, you
- 58:14Speaker 7: can play physical, but ultimately the mind directs the body,
- 58:17Speaker 7: and the Crack it had to use that mindset a
- 58:20Speaker 7: positive one to begin to build their foundation once again
- 58:24Speaker 7: to get back into the wind calumn, and again to
- 58:26Speaker 7: follow up that Philip Grubauer certainly outstanding this evening that
- 58:30Speaker 7: will direct to a very interesting conversation maybe potentially of
- 58:34Speaker 7: how many more games he could get amidst a very
- 58:36Speaker 7: busy schedule, and Jordan Eberly's comment saying that we need
- 58:40Speaker 7: more Lane Lambert echoing that saying we can't afford to
- 58:43Speaker 7: have any passengers to paraphrase it. So again not a
- 58:47Speaker 7: physical thing here, but more so a mental thing to
- 58:49Speaker 7: break out of this, and you can think maybe this
- 58:52Speaker 7: is going to incite a potentially dynamite situation for the
- 58:57Speaker 7: first period coming up on Wednesday, that's when the Kraken
- 59:01Speaker 7: take on the Los Angeles Kings, final game of the
- 59:05Speaker 7: homestand the Kraken getting a favor here from the Kings
- 59:08Speaker 7: as they beat Utah four to two. So the Crack
- 59:10Speaker 7: and still three points back on the cut line in
- 59:13Speaker 7: a very bunched up Western Conference, it is San Jose,
- 59:16Speaker 7: Utah at Edmonton all taie thirty one points a piece.
- 59:21Speaker 7: But the Kings again prior to this evening a massive
- 59:24Speaker 7: breakout offensive game six nothing win over Chicago in a
- 59:28Speaker 7: year where they have been again sputtering for offense, defense
- 59:32Speaker 7: more of their calling Carter Course under Jim Hiller, entering
- 59:35Speaker 7: today ted for third in goals allowed two point five
- 59:39Speaker 7: shared with Dallas, also tied for fifth in the NHL,
- 59:41Speaker 7: and shots allowed at twenty six. So the Kraken trying
- 59:45Speaker 7: to respond again against a very challenging team defensively and
- 59:50Speaker 7: looking to improve on their seven to seven and one record.
- 59:54Speaker 7: They have won two of three, so it'll be the
- 59:56Speaker 7: first of four beatings coming up, and a lot of
- 59:59Speaker 7: them bear big significance here because after Wednesday's game, by
- 1:00:02Speaker 7: the way, a TNT matchup the Cracking at the Kings
- 1:00:05Speaker 7: December twenty third, that is the last game before the
- 1:00:08Speaker 7: holiday break. They're at the Kings again on the fourth
- 1:00:11Speaker 7: of February, last game before the Olympic break, and after
- 1:00:15Speaker 7: that one more matchup right back here in Seattle April thirteenth,
- 1:00:19Speaker 7: which will be the home finale for the twenty twenty
- 1:00:22Speaker 7: five and twenty six regular season. Looking forward to Wednesday
- 1:00:27Speaker 7: again pub dropping a little past seven o'clock Pacific airtimes
- 1:00:30Speaker 7: six thirty. Hope you can join us and we'll do
- 1:00:32Speaker 7: it from here from Tom's watch Bar. Big thanks once
- 1:00:35Speaker 7: again to Travis Moger, technical Director, Terry Ryan.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Our on site engineer and for al Kiniski.
- 1:00:41Speaker 7: This is Mike Benton saying good night from Tom's watch
- 1:00:44Speaker 7: Bar and thank you for joining us. Your final score
- 1:00:46Speaker 7: once again the Minnesota Wild four and the Seattle Kraken one.
- 1:00:51Speaker 7: This is Talking Cracking on ninety three to three KJRFM
