Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Bailey's never been his hanging in studio? Are you giving
- 0:02Speaker 1: it the official curve and everything?
- 0:03Speaker 2: Like, I'm just like, you know, okay, let's let's get
- 0:06Speaker 2: it fixed up here.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Make it happen, my guy, make it happen. You know,
- 0:11Speaker 1: it's been a minute since we caught up with Bailey's mmerman,
- 0:13Speaker 1: and dude, your entire world remains absolutely on fire.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Thank you, dude, thanks thanks. How the hell do you met?
- 0:22Speaker 1: Like a handful of years ago you were just a dude.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm like still, I am just to bed. You're
- 0:28Speaker 2: more the dude than a dude right now.
- 0:31Speaker 1: How are you managing all that?
- 0:32Speaker 2: Man?
- 0:33Speaker 1: Cause it it has been like a wildfire for you.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Dude.
- 0:36Speaker 3: I'm just blessed to be alive. Man, I'm just blessed
- 0:39Speaker 3: to be here for real. Every day I just wake
- 0:42Speaker 3: up and I'm just like, Okay, let's keep working, Let's
- 0:44Speaker 3: keep going hard and try to keep locking in and
- 0:48Speaker 3: making music because it's kind of like you know, what's next,
- 0:52Speaker 3: what's next?
- 0:53Speaker 1: You know, there are artists who have like a slow
- 0:56Speaker 1: burn to get where you're at right and there's a
- 0:59Speaker 1: lot of like pride swallowing moments and lessons you're learning
- 1:04Speaker 1: on the fly.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 1:06Speaker 1: What are some of the hardest lessons that you've had
- 1:08Speaker 1: to be like, well, shit.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Man, it's honestly just the basic ones like don't don't
- 1:20Speaker 3: get drunk before shows, don't do that because that doesn't
- 1:23Speaker 3: make sense, which you know, yeah, listen, you know if
- 1:30Speaker 3: you want to have beers after cool.
- 1:32Speaker 2: But you know, I learned that the hard way for sure.
- 1:35Speaker 3: But there's been a couple others that it's just the
- 1:39Speaker 3: normal things. I'd say that you're just like, Okay, dang,
- 1:42Speaker 3: and I can't do that, like, dang, you don't do this,
- 1:45Speaker 3: like but for the most part, I feel like I
- 1:48Speaker 3: feel like I'm doing pretty good on not messing everything up.
- 1:52Speaker 3: You know, you haven't. I haven't messed everything up yet,
- 1:55Speaker 3: So I'm like, okay.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Yet, I almost you're not good at all.
- 2:00Speaker 1: But at the same time, I think it's pretty cool
- 2:02Speaker 1: because when those moments surface, and they do for everybody,
- 2:05Speaker 1: not just you. The only reason why it looks bigger
- 2:08Speaker 1: is because you're doing big.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Stuff right.
- 2:11Speaker 1: But your fans immediately. You never have to defend yourself
- 2:14Speaker 1: your fans a right right away or like he's a
- 2:17Speaker 1: he's a dude.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, literally like let him live, let him live
- 2:21Speaker 2: his life, let him have fun.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Man.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Yeah, And that's and that's the thing.
- 2:24Speaker 3: I honestly, I just appreciate the accountability that I have
- 2:30Speaker 3: now because everybody did have my back. It really gave
- 2:34Speaker 3: me this sense of like, Okay, they like they're gonna
- 2:38Speaker 3: forgive you, but you can't sit in grace.
- 2:41Speaker 2: You know.
- 2:41Speaker 3: You can't just sit in it and like be like, oh,
- 2:44Speaker 3: give me grace every time. You have to learn from
- 2:46Speaker 3: your mistakes. So you know, that's where I'm at now learning. Uh,
- 2:51Speaker 3: definitely won't be doing that again. And just overall in life,
- 2:54Speaker 3: I've been locking in, dude. I've been like, Okay, I'm
- 2:57Speaker 3: gonna be one hundred and ten percent me every single show,
- 3:00Speaker 3: every single day, and I'm going to start doing the
- 3:02Speaker 3: right things and taking care of myself. And because I
- 3:05Speaker 3: have so many people that are counting on me and
- 3:08Speaker 3: I can't let them down again, I'm not doing that.
- 3:09Speaker 3: It felt awful. It was like the worst feeling ever. Man.
- 3:13Speaker 3: It was just the worst. And now I'm like, Nope,
- 3:17Speaker 3: I'm crushing every single thing I do because I have
- 3:19Speaker 3: to prove to everybody that I'm freaking meant to be here, bro,
- 3:22Speaker 3: I want to be here.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Plus, if you start letting people down. Lou has a
- 3:26Speaker 1: very expensive home with the pool in the backyard. That's
- 3:28Speaker 1: what Bailey Zimmerman hits.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Yes, I don't how are my manager is going to
- 3:31Speaker 3: have fourteen homes.
- 3:33Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. If I, if I don't keep
- 3:35Speaker 2: working hard.
- 3:36Speaker 1: House Tom Martin's in the pay for Silverado.
- 3:38Speaker 2: You have these people, Yes, I have a lot of
- 3:41Speaker 2: people counting on me. Yes.
- 3:44Speaker 1: It's been a minute since we caught up with you.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Uh.
- 3:47Speaker 1: One of the one of the biggest things most recently
- 3:49Speaker 1: is you're part of the iHeart Country Festival. As this
- 3:52Speaker 1: interview airs, it will be after because the song will
- 3:56Speaker 1: have come out and it'll be it'll be after the
- 3:58Speaker 1: Ihart Country Festival. So we're gonna little Smoke and Mirrors.
- 4:03Speaker 2: A show like that.
- 4:04Speaker 1: I mean, it was you, Cole Swindell, Rascal Flats Brooks
- 4:09Speaker 1: and done.
- 4:10Speaker 2: What's the situation like that?
- 4:11Speaker 1: Because you've been a part of festivals in general, what's
- 4:13Speaker 1: the situation like that where you come in and there's
- 4:15Speaker 1: all these massive names who have been doing it since
- 4:18Speaker 1: you were in middle school.
- 4:20Speaker 3: And to be a part of Yeah, it's nerve wracking it, Like, dude,
- 4:24Speaker 3: it's you could only imagine, right, Like you got all
- 4:26Speaker 3: these people and you're like, well, I better not mess
- 4:28Speaker 3: this up because.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Everybody's watching me right now.
- 4:32Speaker 3: So yeah, for sure, it's like but it's kind of
- 4:35Speaker 3: been like that, you know, for the last two years now,
- 4:39Speaker 3: Like you know, when I started going on tour Morgan
- 4:42Speaker 3: every night, bro is like, gosh, Hardy and Ern and
- 4:45Speaker 3: Morgan are like watching what I'm doing, and like, you know,
- 4:48Speaker 3: I got a freaking crush this, So it wasn't the worst.
- 4:50Speaker 3: But obviously having all those names in front of you,
- 4:54Speaker 3: whoa insane dude.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it's wild. Oh yeah, I don't think.
- 4:58Speaker 3: It'll ever go away either. I don't think i'll because
- 5:01Speaker 3: I'm always a fan first. I always try to say
- 5:03Speaker 3: that like I grew up listening to all these people
- 5:06Speaker 3: and never expected to ever be in this position that
- 5:09Speaker 3: I'm in, So yeah, it's insane to be in front.
- 5:14Speaker 2: It'll never go away. Yeah.
- 5:16Speaker 1: One of the first interviews we ever had with you,
- 5:18Speaker 1: you were talking about you had just bumped into Morgan Wallen, right,
- 5:22Speaker 1: and he's a guy that you looked up to. You
- 5:23Speaker 1: didn't really know what to say, well, your relationship with
- 5:25Speaker 1: him has definitely grown since then. What's it like to
- 5:29Speaker 1: go from a fan of his too now? I mean, really,
- 5:32Speaker 1: he's a coworker, he's a cohort, he's somebody who's got
- 5:35Speaker 1: your back. You guys have toured together. What's that relationship
- 5:37Speaker 1: like and how important is it to you?
- 5:40Speaker 2: Man?
- 5:40Speaker 3: It's still still just like super surreal, but also at
- 5:45Speaker 3: the same time, like it's like yeah, yep, like this
- 5:49Speaker 3: is just what I'm doing.
- 5:50Speaker 2: I think it's so surreal because I.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Can't believe I'm in like this position in life to
- 5:56Speaker 3: be around people I've looked up to for a long
- 5:58Speaker 3: time and to be thought of as like one of
- 6:02Speaker 3: one of them, I guess, like a country singer and
- 6:04Speaker 3: a country artist, I guess. So I don't think that'll ever.
- 6:08Speaker 3: I don't like, I'll never be able to like understand that.
- 6:10Speaker 3: So I think that's what makes it like, Dagan, this
- 6:12Speaker 3: is really it's still like really cool. And when my
- 6:15Speaker 3: friends are like, dude, is it is?
- 6:17Speaker 2: Is it cool?
- 6:18Speaker 3: Like no, and Morgan, I'm like, dude, yeah, freaking heck yeah,
- 6:21Speaker 3: this dude, it's freaking I've listened to this guy since
- 6:23Speaker 3: I was like fourteen years old, dude.
- 6:25Speaker 2: So yeah, it's really cool.
- 6:27Speaker 3: And dude, the guy has had my back when he
- 6:30Speaker 3: didn't have to and he's definitely just been there for
- 6:34Speaker 3: me a lot, and that's what makes me just go, yeah, like,
- 6:38Speaker 3: I really love this dude every time. He's always had
- 6:41Speaker 3: my back. And yeah, it means a lot.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Outside country music is unless you really pay attention, you
- 6:48Speaker 1: don't realize how like it's a family and everybody's got
- 6:51Speaker 1: each other's back, and there's and there's I mean literally
- 6:53Speaker 1: everybody knows everybody, everybody's a fan of everybody, everybody's championing everybody,
- 6:58Speaker 1: which doesn't happen outside of the country world.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Yeah, they don't have to do that, you know.
- 7:02Speaker 1: So so outside of Morgan, what are some relationships that
- 7:05Speaker 1: are like too, and whether it's a big name or not,
- 7:07Speaker 1: what are some relationships that are really important to you
- 7:10Speaker 1: for where you sit today and maybe whose opinions are
- 7:12Speaker 1: very high on on your music and whatnot, ma'am.
- 7:19Speaker 3: So I would say it's kind of just the people
- 7:23Speaker 3: that put me on when they didn't have to, like Morgan,
- 7:26Speaker 3: Like Morgan put me on when he didn't have to
- 7:29Speaker 3: put me on, and Drew Baldridge put me on when
- 7:32Speaker 3: he didn't have to put me on, like he was
- 7:34Speaker 3: just a champion of mine early you know, sent me
- 7:36Speaker 3: a number, yo, hit me up if you need anything.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Same thing with Morgan, you know, is like I would say,
- 7:42Speaker 3: you know, like Hardy as well, big a big idol
- 7:45Speaker 3: of mine, and he's just like he put me on
- 7:50Speaker 3: and he didn't have to and he did, and like,
- 7:52Speaker 3: I don't know, it's there's a lot, there's a lot
- 7:55Speaker 3: of more artists like man, there's so many, I can't
- 8:01Speaker 3: even name them all, but they're just like so many
- 8:04Speaker 3: that have like brought me up, Jason Aldan being one
- 8:07Speaker 3: of them, Luke Brian being one of them, Like Luke
- 8:09Speaker 3: freaking Brian, dude and Jason freaking out Dean, Like what
- 8:12Speaker 3: even is that? And they dude even like yeah, like
- 8:17Speaker 3: it's so crazy, it's hard to even think about.
- 8:19Speaker 2: But there's been so many and ah wow.
- 8:23Speaker 1: But the cool thing is you can see in your
- 8:25Speaker 1: reaction and when you start to think of these names,
- 8:27Speaker 1: I'd imagine moments are playing in your head of like them,
- 8:29Speaker 1: showing support or meeting them, and it's the cool thing
- 8:32Speaker 1: is to see like that the end time reaction of
- 8:37Speaker 1: like you're like, damn, dude.
- 8:40Speaker 3: No, dude, I don't want to keep bringing this up.
- 8:43Speaker 3: But Luke Bryan, after I really messed up at kan
- 8:46Speaker 3: Koum brought wanted me to come over to play a
- 8:49Speaker 3: song with him. After I had taken a nap and
- 8:52Speaker 3: got my you know, got my stuff together. Yeah, I
- 8:55Speaker 3: got some water and stuff and it's not funny, but
- 9:00Speaker 3: he brought me back over and dude, I thought he
- 9:02Speaker 3: was I thought he was gonna be upset, and dude,
- 9:04Speaker 3: he was like worried about me, and he was like, hey, man,
- 9:07Speaker 3: I just want to make sure that you know that,
- 9:09Speaker 3: like we care about you man, and we don't want
- 9:11Speaker 3: to see you like do that.
- 9:12Speaker 2: We want to see you win.
- 9:13Speaker 3: And everybody here is championing you and and Jason was
- 9:16Speaker 3: like yeah, man, like we love you man, and we
- 9:19Speaker 3: want we want you to like win and this and that,
- 9:21Speaker 3: like you're badass and all these nice things. I'm like,
- 9:25Speaker 3: I just messed up your show that you had me
- 9:27Speaker 3: come play, and you're like it's just insane, and that's
- 9:31Speaker 3: that's what makes me like super appreciate everything is Like, dude,
- 9:35Speaker 3: they didn't have to do that. They could have just
- 9:36Speaker 3: wrote me off and been like yep, well whatever, and
- 9:39Speaker 3: they did it and they like really care about me,
- 9:40Speaker 3: and yeah, just really means a lot. And that's how
- 9:43Speaker 3: that's why, that's how important it is to me, Like
- 9:46Speaker 3: I'm really getting it together now. Like, yeah, you could
- 9:50Speaker 3: call it being young or whatever, but I have a
- 9:52Speaker 3: big opportunity and I obviously was taking advantage of that
- 9:56Speaker 3: and not appreciating it. And I would say, now I've
- 10:00Speaker 3: really realize, like how just disrespectful to the fans and
- 10:03Speaker 3: to everybody that was And I'm like, Okay, locking in,
- 10:07Speaker 3: I'm gonna be one ten all the time. I'm gonna
- 10:09Speaker 3: like I'm doing it, so yeah, I appreciate it so
- 10:13Speaker 3: much that I'm gonna like really get my shit together.
- 10:16Speaker 2: You know.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Love that love that you are a guy who is
- 10:20Speaker 1: not a stranger to collabse you've do I mean, and
- 10:22Speaker 1: you've been all over the place with them, right, It's
- 10:24Speaker 1: not just like in the Country Lane, which we're about
- 10:26Speaker 1: to talk about this one with Luke Colmbs, but like
- 10:28Speaker 1: all over the place where on the Fast and the
- 10:31Speaker 1: Furious soundtrack, like what like a year ago, Yes, you
- 10:34Speaker 1: worked with the Jonas brothers.
- 10:35Speaker 2: You random right, big X the plug.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Is any part of you are you hesitating about collabs
- 10:43Speaker 1: because you're still very much like introducing yourself to mainstream
- 10:47Speaker 1: country fans, right, like a lot of people may know
- 10:48Speaker 1: your music but not recognize you at the grocery store
- 10:51Speaker 1: or something like that. Is any part of you like,
- 10:54Speaker 1: hang on, I don't want to collab too much, or
- 10:55Speaker 1: you like screw it, I'm having fun.
- 10:59Speaker 3: No, Honestly, I'm more about let's make sure we get
- 11:04Speaker 3: the perfect song that we both are really excited about,
- 11:07Speaker 3: and then we both really go in on it and
- 11:10Speaker 3: we want people to hear this song because we love
- 11:12Speaker 3: this song so much. And that's kind of where they've
- 11:15Speaker 3: just been coming to, where I'm like, yeah, I really
- 11:18Speaker 3: love this song, Like this is fire, like the Big
- 11:20Speaker 3: X song. When he sent it to me, it was
- 11:22Speaker 3: just like, yeah, I really love this song.
- 11:25Speaker 2: I've been a fan of Big X.
- 11:27Speaker 3: I can name almost every one of his songs, so yeah,
- 11:32Speaker 3: this is.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Like gonna be fire.
- 11:33Speaker 3: And then we cut it and then we listen to
- 11:35Speaker 3: it and you're like, Yep, that's freaking fire. And then yeah,
- 11:38Speaker 3: and then you know, same thing with you know, the
- 11:42Speaker 3: Luke Combs song. I had always felt since I got
- 11:48Speaker 3: the demo before I knew Luke. I said, man, Luke
- 11:51Speaker 3: Combs would freaking crush this song with me. But I
- 11:54Speaker 3: didn't have his number, you know, So I'm not gonna
- 11:56Speaker 3: like go get his number and try to text him.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I'm gonna I'm more of an organic guy I want
- 12:00Speaker 2: to have.
- 12:00Speaker 3: I want to know him, and you know, vice versa
- 12:04Speaker 3: to where he like wants to, you know, collabh me
- 12:06Speaker 3: and he likes me. So ended up getting invited to
- 12:10Speaker 3: do the concert for Carolina with Luke, and we met
- 12:14Speaker 3: that day and we just like kicked it off and
- 12:16Speaker 3: like we were rehearsing this song and it was just
- 12:21Speaker 3: like immediate, like man, you're cool. And then he was like, yeah,
- 12:25Speaker 3: you're cool. And then we took a selvy and stuff
- 12:27Speaker 3: and then so he gave me his number at the
- 12:29Speaker 3: end of the day, and I was still really nervous
- 12:31Speaker 3: to send the song. But then I was like, all right,
- 12:35Speaker 3: screw it, I freaking I'm literally here right now on
- 12:38Speaker 3: a prayer, like on a godsend, so just send the
- 12:42Speaker 3: freaking song.
- 12:43Speaker 2: So I texted him.
- 12:43Speaker 3: I was like, hey, man, I've been wanting to send
- 12:45Speaker 3: you this for a while, but you know, I've just
- 12:47Speaker 3: been nervous. But I just figured I'd just send it
- 12:50Speaker 3: to you, so like, you know, let me know what
- 12:52Speaker 3: you think. I think you would crush this whatever. And
- 12:55Speaker 3: then he didn't text me back for a month, and
- 13:01Speaker 3: it was like, and.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Did you think did you think it was a fakeful number?
- 13:06Speaker 2: No?
- 13:06Speaker 3: No, no, I I it wasn't a no. So I
- 13:11Speaker 3: was like, okay. I was like, I know he's I know,
- 13:13Speaker 3: he's really busy. He's got a big family, he tours,
- 13:17Speaker 3: He's literally Luke Comb's so I'm sure he's really busy
- 13:20Speaker 3: and I'll.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Just give it some time.
- 13:23Speaker 3: And then like a week went by. Then like two
- 13:26Speaker 3: weeks went by, and I'm like okay, I'm like I'm
- 13:28Speaker 3: still letting this, you know whatever, because I you know,
- 13:31Speaker 3: we had a good connection.
- 13:32Speaker 2: He'll text me back, I you know whatever. So then
- 13:35Speaker 2: he's literally like all over the world.
- 13:36Speaker 3: So I had this insider that was like, yo, Luke's
- 13:40Speaker 3: been jamming that song, and like so just like whatever,
- 13:45Speaker 3: like Luke's been jamming that song. I'm like, okay, all right,
- 13:48Speaker 3: I bet it was freaking Luke the whole time. It
- 13:49Speaker 3: was a freaking insider. But anyways, I don't know, it
- 13:52Speaker 3: was It was funny because I guess he was just
- 13:54Speaker 3: like jamming it, you know, because it's a big deal. Like,
- 13:57Speaker 3: you know, I'm sure he doesn't just be like, yeah,
- 14:00Speaker 3: I'll get on whatever song.
- 14:01Speaker 2: You know, he's gotta love the song.
- 14:02Speaker 3: So then like a month later he texts me back
- 14:05Speaker 3: and he goes, Yo, this song rips. I'm in And
- 14:10Speaker 3: then I was like, holy freaking crap. And then when
- 14:13Speaker 3: he cut it, it was like, oh yeah, this song
- 14:17Speaker 3: freaking rocks and yeah, so that one was like super
- 14:23Speaker 3: organic and he loves the song.
- 14:25Speaker 2: I love the song.
- 14:26Speaker 3: We we did content for it, and he was like, hey,
- 14:29Speaker 3: I don't I don't usually do this, but you know,
- 14:32Speaker 3: he's like, you know, if I'm gonna do it, i'm
- 14:33Speaker 3: gonna do with you. And I'm like, all right, dude,
- 14:35Speaker 3: let's do it. It's fun, you know, And we had
- 14:37Speaker 3: the We had the best day too, dude, making all
- 14:40Speaker 3: the videos and man, just everything around this song has
- 14:44Speaker 3: been so much fun, dude.
- 14:45Speaker 2: So I'd say that is where I'm at.
- 14:48Speaker 3: With like Collapse is like if it's sick, if we
- 14:51Speaker 3: both love it, then I'm in. Yeah, So it's gotta
- 14:56Speaker 3: be something you're passionate about and you're freaking you.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Know, like yes, like run through the Yes.
- 15:00Speaker 3: I freaking loved this song and I love this artist,
- 15:03Speaker 3: and I can't wait to hang out with you and
- 15:05Speaker 3: do all this stuff with you.
- 15:05Speaker 2: It's freaking do it. It's gonna be awesome.
- 15:07Speaker 1: So many songs are just an idea on your phone
- 15:10Speaker 1: or maybe there's a demo and then they just die
- 15:13Speaker 1: or they just sit there forever. Yeah, would this song
- 15:15Speaker 1: have done that if Luke Combs didn't get on it.
- 15:18Speaker 2: No, I probably would have put it on my album.
- 15:23Speaker 3: But I was super praying that Luke was gonna get
- 15:26Speaker 3: on it, dude, cause because I was like, man, he
- 15:28Speaker 3: would just really make this song, you know, you know,
- 15:32Speaker 3: he made it what it is, man, and he added
- 15:34Speaker 3: a lot to that song and it made it what
- 15:36Speaker 3: it is, and I just knew it.
- 15:37Speaker 2: I could hear it.
- 15:38Speaker 3: I'm like, yeah, I could put this out, But man,
- 15:40Speaker 3: if Luke jumped on it, this would be freaking badass,
- 15:43Speaker 3: you know, this would be freeing awesome song. So yeah,
- 15:47Speaker 3: but yeah, it would have came out on my album.
- 15:49Speaker 1: It's called Backup Plan And it's funny because when you
- 15:52Speaker 1: hear the title and we know the history of some
- 15:55Speaker 1: of your biggest songs, you're like, okay, just breakup or
- 15:59Speaker 1: like right right, met somebody else, whatever, and it's not
- 16:02Speaker 1: it right. It's like it's more bet on yourself and
- 16:05Speaker 1: get your shit together type song.
- 16:07Speaker 3: It's a story about I didn't write this song. I
- 16:10Speaker 3: didn't write the song, and this is what I'm saying.
- 16:12Speaker 3: It just made sense and I loved it and I
- 16:15Speaker 3: felt like, man, I could have wrote this. You know
- 16:18Speaker 3: what many people were telling me I was great. I
- 16:20Speaker 3: tell the story like at the end of every single
- 16:21Speaker 3: show every night. You know, people who told me I
- 16:24Speaker 3: was crazy because I was quitting my job and I
- 16:27Speaker 3: was gonna try to be a country singer.
- 16:29Speaker 2: And then everybody like.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Kind of was like, ah, dude, like this guy is
- 16:32Speaker 3: literally crazy, like whatever, and then it worked and it's
- 16:35Speaker 3: like I'm literally here right now, and I just think
- 16:40Speaker 3: it's such a testimony too.
- 16:42Speaker 2: And the same thing.
- 16:44Speaker 3: My first show was with Luke Combs. My first full
- 16:47Speaker 3: band show was with Luke Combs. It rocked the South
- 16:50Speaker 3: in twenty twenty one and I played at two pm.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Nobody was there except four of my buddies were in
- 16:57Speaker 3: the in the you know, in the yeah so in
- 17:01Speaker 3: the lawn so and now I have my first I
- 17:05Speaker 3: have a song coming out with him, or I have
- 17:08Speaker 3: a song out with him. I mean, like it's insane,
- 17:11Speaker 3: like the full circle moment, and the testimony of the
- 17:14Speaker 3: song is like, YO, don't have a backup plan. Chase
- 17:16Speaker 3: your freaking dreams because you never want to like look
- 17:20Speaker 3: back and go, man, what if I what if I'd
- 17:22Speaker 3: have done that?
- 17:24Speaker 2: What if? What if? Don't be a what if or
- 17:26Speaker 2: man like?
- 17:27Speaker 3: And that's what this song is about, is chasing your
- 17:29Speaker 3: freaking dreams, not having a backup plan and not listening
- 17:32Speaker 3: to anybody telling you that you're crazy or it's not
- 17:34Speaker 3: gonna work. They don't even freaking know you. You know you,
- 17:37Speaker 3: So go chase your freaking dream Yeah.
- 17:39Speaker 1: When you started out, and I go back to the
- 17:42Speaker 1: first time we talked to you, and we've talked at
- 17:46Speaker 1: like award shows and stuff. The confidence you have in
- 17:49Speaker 1: yourself now and how you carry yourself now, it's it's
- 17:53Speaker 1: almost like you're a completely different dude from when you
- 17:55Speaker 1: first thanks walked in. I mean, the confidence you have
- 17:59Speaker 1: and you're having fun and you can tell you believe
- 18:01Speaker 1: in yourself. You obviously surround yourself with a fantastic label,
- 18:04Speaker 1: and I'm sure the rest of your team is awesome.
- 18:08Speaker 1: How important was that for you to get in a
- 18:11Speaker 1: more comfortable spot versus like because when you start doing
- 18:14Speaker 1: everything is so awkward.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Interviews are awkward.
- 18:17Speaker 1: You know, you're meeting people who have listened to all
- 18:19Speaker 1: your music. How do you get over that to be
- 18:22Speaker 1: in the confidence about you sitting now? Because it's got
- 18:24Speaker 1: to be hard work.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Man.
- 18:26Speaker 3: I don't know, honestly, I think you just become more
- 18:30Speaker 3: you and you just go, Hey, I make music and
- 18:37Speaker 3: I'm me and I can't be anybody else but me,
- 18:40Speaker 3: And so if you love me, it's gonna make it
- 18:43Speaker 3: a lot easier for me and you to be friends.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Because I love everybody. But some people, you know.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Some people don't you know, don't be liking my I'm
- 18:49Speaker 3: upbeat all the time.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Some people don't like that.
- 18:51Speaker 3: But that's okay because if you don't like that, then
- 18:54Speaker 3: you're probably not my energy either.
- 18:56Speaker 2: I'm an upbeat person.
- 18:57Speaker 3: I'm I want to have fun and be a little
- 18:59Speaker 3: off the wall, and just I don't know, say whatever
- 19:02Speaker 3: you want and have some fun. I don't know, So
- 19:04Speaker 3: I just I would say I became more me and
- 19:06Speaker 3: I'm just like I am who I am. If you
- 19:08Speaker 3: don't like that, then that sucks because I wish you did,
- 19:11Speaker 3: because I like to be friends with everybody. But yeah,
- 19:14Speaker 3: at first, you're just like, I think you're trying to
- 19:17Speaker 3: be something that you think you should be, and then
- 19:20Speaker 3: that gets really tiring, and then all of a sudden
- 19:22Speaker 3: you're just like, Okay, well I gotta be me, guys,
- 19:25Speaker 3: because I'm really tired of being not me. So here
- 19:30Speaker 3: I am as me Bailey Z.
- 19:32Speaker 1: When it comes to social media, you post a good
- 19:37Speaker 1: amount on TikTok and you're not afraid to be silly goofy,
- 19:41Speaker 1: singing along making chalky milk or whatever. Yeah, but how
- 19:48Speaker 1: many of those do we not see? Of you just
- 19:50Speaker 1: being a clown?
- 19:51Speaker 2: How many of that?
- 19:52Speaker 1: How much of that you are?
- 19:53Speaker 2: You?
- 19:53Speaker 3: Like?
- 19:53Speaker 2: No, that was dumb?
- 19:55Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I don't even I'm usually like a
- 19:58Speaker 3: one taker. I'll post it, because that's another thing with me.
- 20:04Speaker 3: I'll put it all out there. I'm just like you
- 20:05Speaker 3: know what, I'm trying everything. I'm just gonna put it
- 20:09Speaker 3: out there. If it don't do well, well, good thing.
- 20:11Speaker 3: If I wake up tomorrow, I can post another video
- 20:13Speaker 3: and we'll just keep on going. Now the retakes sometimes
- 20:20Speaker 3: I'd be doing retakes. I'll be doing retakes sometimes. But
- 20:24Speaker 3: you know, doesn't everybody exactly. But yeah, no, I just
- 20:29Speaker 3: put everything out there because I'm just like, nope, this
- 20:31Speaker 3: is me.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Throw it out. See what it does.
- 20:33Speaker 3: Because sometimes it stuff you think is so dumb, they're
- 20:36Speaker 3: gonna think it's so funny.
- 20:37Speaker 2: So I'm like, all right, whatever.
- 20:39Speaker 3: And then if they think it's dumb, you're like, oh, okay,
- 20:41Speaker 3: all right, we'll try something again tomorrow.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Last thing I want to ask is you shared just
- 20:47Speaker 1: how absolutely Jack you are this new song with Luke
- 20:50Speaker 1: Colmbs it's called Backup Planets Out Now. How do you
- 20:56Speaker 1: not to say you're not excited for your career and
- 20:59Speaker 1: all that, but like, how do you stay just as
- 21:01Speaker 1: excited for the next song?
- 21:03Speaker 2: Oh?
- 21:03Speaker 3: Because it's a new journey man. Every song is a
- 21:06Speaker 3: new oh Man. I love every single part of from
- 21:12Speaker 3: like thinking of the idea of the song or starting
- 21:15Speaker 3: with the chords on a song to like, Okay, you've
- 21:18Speaker 3: written the song and now you're gonna cut the song,
- 21:21Speaker 3: and then now you oh, we love the song, and
- 21:23Speaker 3: now you we need like how are we gonna do
- 21:26Speaker 3: our thing with it? And you know, make sure people
- 21:28Speaker 3: know about it and do they like it? See if
- 21:30Speaker 3: other people like it, Like everything that goes to all
- 21:33Speaker 3: the way to like after we release it and we're
- 21:35Speaker 3: talking about it and promoting it. Like I don't know, man,
- 21:38Speaker 3: I just love it. And it's it's kind of like
- 21:46Speaker 3: it's so rewarding when other people love the work that
- 21:50Speaker 3: you do, and it's like super like yeah, rewarding when
- 21:56Speaker 3: you have put all these plans together and you start
- 21:59Speaker 3: to execute everything that you've made up in your mind
- 22:01Speaker 3: and all this creativity that you've just thought of and
- 22:04Speaker 3: worked on for so long and so hard on to
- 22:06Speaker 3: start working and like people are you know, loving it
- 22:10Speaker 3: and being like, oh, we love this, dude. There's no
- 22:12Speaker 3: other feeling like that in the world. Like and then
- 22:14Speaker 3: people being like, hey, dude, that new song you got
- 22:18Speaker 3: is badass, dude. That is like my number one fueler.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Like I'm like, dude, you have no idea actually how
- 22:24Speaker 3: much that means. I'm literally gonna go home and try
- 22:26Speaker 3: to write another one right now so I can just
- 22:28Speaker 3: continue to do this and like have songs that help people,
- 22:31Speaker 3: have songs to help people party, have songs that just
- 22:34Speaker 3: like I don't know, man, just something about being an
- 22:38Speaker 3: artist and being able to create every single day just
- 22:40Speaker 3: like gets me freaking amped.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Bro like, and I'm not gonna lie. I've got bad days.
- 22:44Speaker 3: You know, you got bad days where you're just like down,
- 22:46Speaker 3: But these days it's pretty seldom Cuz, man, I'm just
- 22:50Speaker 3: chasing my dream one day at a time, right, you know,
- 22:53Speaker 3: just the real world. Man, It's it's crazy. I literally
- 22:56Speaker 3: was living in a trailer with my mom like four
- 22:58Speaker 3: years ago.
- 22:59Speaker 1: So now like I saw that movie eight Mile.
- 23:02Speaker 2: That's not a real thing. No, it's a real thing,
- 23:05Speaker 2: and honestly, it's so funny. It's kinda is.
- 23:07Speaker 3: It's like the real thing, except not as like rough.
- 23:11Speaker 3: Yeah it was.
- 23:13Speaker 2: It wasn't the hood, it was in the content. It
- 23:15Speaker 2: was still.
- 23:18Speaker 1: You brought something up that that sparked, and Tay always says,
- 23:22Speaker 1: because Tay will like go through this audio later, she'd
- 23:24Speaker 1: be like, you said last question, and then talked for
- 23:26Speaker 1: five more minutes. But this is for sure the last question,
- 23:29Speaker 1: because Tom's like.
- 23:30Speaker 2: We got it all.
- 23:33Speaker 1: You you brought up having bad days. Everybody has bad days.
- 23:37Speaker 1: What is a song of yours that got you through
- 23:40Speaker 1: a bad day that maybe you would suggest to a
- 23:42Speaker 1: fan like, hey, if you're feeling down, like I got
- 23:45Speaker 1: this and just one of your songs, not something that
- 23:48Speaker 1: you would go here, but like maybe a song of
- 23:50Speaker 1: yours that like can pull you out a hill man.
- 23:53Speaker 3: It's I'm not trying to sound cliche, but backup plan.
- 24:01Speaker 2: I've had that song for.
- 24:03Speaker 3: M man a long time. It's been sitting in my notes. Man,
- 24:09Speaker 3: I would say maybe it almost a year ago. I've
- 24:11Speaker 3: had it for a long time.
- 24:13Speaker 1: And.
- 24:15Speaker 3: I've had a lot of also following your face moments
- 24:17Speaker 3: in the last year. And Dude, every single time I
- 24:20Speaker 3: just think of that song, like, well, what are you
- 24:23Speaker 3: gonna do?
- 24:23Speaker 1: Quit?
- 24:24Speaker 3: Like You'll never know if things get better if you
- 24:26Speaker 3: just quit, and like you're just like what are you
- 24:28Speaker 3: gonna do? Be a freaking wizz, Like get back up, dude,
- 24:31Speaker 3: Like you literally have this song that you love that
- 24:33Speaker 3: you're about to put out like and so, And it's
- 24:36Speaker 3: like the whole testimony of like if I had to
- 24:39Speaker 3: quit when everybody was like, oh, this guy sucks and
- 24:42Speaker 3: I was reading on the comments that freaking sucked, it
- 24:44Speaker 3: was an awful day, awful week, awful couple weeks.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Dude.
- 24:47Speaker 3: If I had quit there, I wouldn't have a song
- 24:49Speaker 3: out with Luke Combs right now.
- 24:50Speaker 2: I wouldn't have a song out with Big exra Plug.
- 24:52Speaker 3: That's like my highest scoring hot you know, hot one
- 24:55Speaker 3: hundred song.
- 24:56Speaker 2: I've ever had. I wouldn't I wouldn't be here with you, like,
- 25:00Speaker 2: you got to keep going. That last the biggest. Yeah,
- 25:03Speaker 2: it's a big deal, dude, It really is. And dude,
- 25:06Speaker 2: it's just.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Like, uh ma'am, you got to keep going when the
- 25:09Speaker 3: world knocks you down. No backup plan, getting back up, bro,
- 25:13Speaker 3: get back up and keep freaking going because then tomorrow
- 25:16Speaker 3: you might make a freaking you know, you might do
- 25:18Speaker 3: something that changes your life, but you'll never know if
- 25:21Speaker 3: you quit today. So man, it's a big deal, dude. Yeah,
- 25:24Speaker 3: so backup plan it, dude. It gets me through for sure.
- 25:27Speaker 3: It's helped helped me be positive.
- 25:29Speaker 1: There it is, dude, I know you're busy.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Thanks for hanging dude, Thank you for having me. Bro,
- 25:34Speaker 2: let's go
