- 0:03What does the nanny do? OK, so we're done.
- 0:08Goodbye. You.
- 0:10Shut it off do. Not twist my words.
- 0:14Do not make me a victim, sweetie.
- 0:17Just look at the mountain. That's what you saw that day.
- 0:22You've been knife in the kidneys
- 0:29sacrifices that I made to love you.
- 0:38Spooky Halloween. It's time to get frightened with
- 0:50Very scary, especially for Meri. Meri should be frightened for
- 0:56sure. I'm frightened for her.
- 0:58Hate to say it, but I I am. Welcome everyone, and hopefully
- 1:03you enjoyed our special spooky intro for this Halloween week of
- 1:15celebration countdown. It's the moment.
- 1:17Well, it's not quite the moment. Yeah, we're not even there yet.
- 1:20It's the moment before the
- 1:21moment that you've all been waiting for that we've been
- 1:24talking about forever, it seems.
- 1:25And as we often do, we open with the adults on the couch talking
- 1:30about how their trip to Sedona for marriage counseling started
- 1:33this journey towards having a commitment celebration.
- 1:36And Kody reminds us that drafting their family mission
- 1:40statement and sharing it with their friends and family in a
- 1:44ceremony styled event will be the inauguration of that.
- 1:47And I'm like, of course we have to use inauguration again.
- 1:51I love you. Just brought that up in the last
- 1:56little while, and then you might never hear it again.
- 1:59Yeah, they have a few favorite words that they use.
- 2:02Inaugurate is definitely one of Kody's favorite words.
- 2:05He's used it quite a few Times Now.
- 2:08He also uses another big word he says that the family marriage
- 2:12retreat, which they give us a lovely flashback to, has them
- 2:17all realizing that they needed to recalibrate.
- 2:21Oh. Oh, they needed to recalibrate
- 2:28What an interesting choice in words.
- 2:30Oh my goodness, that's a little inside joke for Kimber and Chris
- 2:37It's a spooky week. It's a freaky week.
- 2:41Freaky winky Jesus. And on screen we get up four
- 2:48weeks until commitment ceremony, Dun, Dun, Dun.
- 2:50So obviously we have basically a month until the commitment
- 2:54ceremony. And you know, even when we met
- 3:02But also it is the Browns. So we'll see how they manage
- 3:05this. I'm sure it'll be really well.
- 3:10whenever we see a countdown, you know that chaos is about to
- 3:15ensue. They're trying to induce panic
- 3:27to do and some of the things that they've accomplished.
- 3:29The yards have almost been completed for their landscaping
- 3:32efforts, which is good. Kody says he still needs to get
- 3:36suits for the boys. I'm OK.
- 3:38I'm not sure that we will see anything about that.
- 3:42The wives have drawn out their dress ideas like sketches or
- 3:46something and need to find someone to help get them made.
- 3:52And of course, Janelle has to mention that they need to keep
- 3:59You got to love Janelle. Bringing it back to the dollars
- 4:03and honey, what is the biggest thing that they still need to
- 4:05get done? The biggest thing of all is that
- 4:14statement. This whole thing is to
- 4:17inaugurate this family mission statement and it's still not
- 4:21ready. I can't with this.
- 4:25I was thinking back to the first time that we heard about this
- 4:31stupid mission statement and it was season 5 episode 3 when they
- 4:39That is when this was first discussed.
- 4:42We're on season 6 episode 18. It was well over a season ago.
- 4:55This has been going on for fucking ever you guys.
- 4:58And if I remember correctly, we got a snarky comment from Leon,
- 5:02something about how this is not a business, it's a family.
- 5:04But they were talking about the mission statement a long time
- 5:07ago, so you know. Long as time ago, Meri when she
- 5:12talks about the ceremony being in their backyards made me
- 5:16cackle. Meri says that the fact that the
- 5:23bigger statement. Why are they always trying to
- 5:28spin everything? The fact that they're having
- 5:32this party, this inauguration in their own backyards makes it
- 5:36more special, makes it a bigger statement.
- 5:40How? I I do not follow the logic.
- 5:44I was hoping that you would maybe have some sort of crazy
- 5:47half cocked theory or something. It's just her trying to spin the
- 5:54space. On an actual event space.
- 5:56They always have to put a weird spin and twist, and the fact
- 6:00that she even has to point it out and try to put a positive
- 6:03spin on the fact that it's in their backyards tells me that
- 6:06she's not happy that it's in their backyard.
- 6:09Right. When people over clarify
- 6:10something or draw attention to how it's whatever and it's like,
- 6:15Especially her. Especially her.
- 6:18Yeah, there's a few times in this episode, I believe, where
- 6:24about something, but she's going along with it for all the other
- 6:27wives and for everyone to be happy.
- 6:28And it's like, oh, how very magnanimous of you, Meri.
- 6:32Meanwhile, behind the scenes, the voodoo dolls are getting
- 6:35pins in the eyes. Oh, Mayor Kody tells us that
- 6:40they do at times struggle with coming to a consensus on things
- 6:44because of their numbers, the number of people in their
- 6:47family, but also jokes about how he can get them to convince one
- 6:51another to support ideas sometimes.
- 6:52So he kind of gets one wife in on something and then maybe gets
- 7:02democracy or whatever they call it will work in his favor.
- 7:06Christine jokes about how monogamous couples don't have a
- 7:09tiebreaker for their roadblocks.
- 7:11And I'm like, oh, a tiebreaker.
- 7:13Interesting. Honey, do you think you would be
- 7:17husband? Absolutely not.
- 7:19Only if they always agreed with you, then maybe it would work.
- 7:26thinks he has decision making easier than a monogamist would
- 7:40They always have to compare themselves to monogamists and
- 7:43how their polygamist life is better than a monogamist
- 7:47relationship because of XYZ. Just another thing that they do
- 7:52to us repeatedly on the show. Yeah, God, we're starting out
- 7:56strong with the cliches here from them.
- 7:59We transition over to Christine's house where Janelle
- 8:02is arriving with Sam, and Sam is the daughter of one of
- 8:06Janelle's friends, a local friend in Las Vegas.
- 8:08She makes sure to clarify a friend from Las Vegas like that
- 8:10was a really important detail. And this friend's daughter just
- 8:14graduated with a fashion design degree.
- 8:17And Sam, Sam, Sam, Sam, Sam might have some work ahead of
- 8:23her. You know Sam, Sam, Sam.
- 8:27Sam, Sam, I am very confused by everything that you've got going
- 8:39days before a commitment celebration.
- 8:42Sam is wearing some sort of black leather biker vest with a
- 8:47lot of studs or something on it.
- 8:51And I did note that Sam also seems to have like a young
- 8:55person's version of a Karen haircut, but with a little edge.
- 9:00Now you will be able to describe
- 9:02Like what was going on with the hair?
- 9:04The hair was already out of style by this point because the
- 9:08haircut, that inverted Bob haircut that was so massive
- 9:13during the time when I was in beauty school in 2010, this was
- 9:172013, that style was already going out as I was in beauty
- 9:22school. And yeah, she's got a Karen
- 9:24haircut with the front straightened so it looks more
- 9:28dramatic. She's trying really hard to be
- 9:32unique, I'll say that. I'll give her that.
- 9:35And Janelle definitely did not
- 9:40friend's daughter from Las Vegas, because I would not have
- 9:43thought she was from anywhere else.
- 9:46I wouldn't have thought she was from Utah, that's for sure,
- 9:50just based on appearance alone.
- 9:52But. She took the long drive down
- 9:55from Lehigh like. MMM, no.
- 9:58Kidding, I don't think so. But the other thing about this
- 10:04back was also very like hyper pushed up or whatever.
- 10:08It was her edgy a take on the Karen.
- 10:10It wasn't just lightly pushed up or whatever.
- 10:13It was like it could poke you in the eye.
- 10:14It could hurt you. It reminded me of a scene kid.
- 10:22emos that didn't just wear black.
- 10:24So I think she was probably a scene kid or something like
- 10:30that. Definitely trying to overdo it
- 10:39was over the top. And I don't know, it's sometimes
- 10:49Yeah. She definitely overdid it.
- 10:52I'm just imagining right now if we had Sam and Colleen Snow on
- 11:03It would be a whole lot. Too much, just too much.
- 11:06I didn't know whether I felt bad for her during this or whether I
- 11:20Agreed. Oh, Sam also is wearing a lot of
- 11:32hair and. It all clashed too.
- 11:34It was not cohesive, it all clashed.
- 11:37Anyway, so thanks for going on that journey with us into Sam's
- 11:41appearance. But it's important that we talk
- 11:43about Sam's appearance because Sam went to school for fashion,
- 11:47right? Fashion design.
- 11:48Apparently she is a designer. And Sam, it's going to do some
- 11:54And I guess this exercise is where they put fabric over
- 11:58themselves to get a rough start of a dress, like maybe
- 12:02dimensions and measurements. I am I even describing that
- 12:05correctly? Yeah, draping is where they use
- 12:08basically an ugly colored fabric.
- 12:10It's not the fabric of the dress, it's where they create
- 12:13the pattern for the dress. So they'll drape the fabric over
- 12:23pencil, and sketch the dress out on your body, essentially using
- 12:28the fabric to create a pattern while you're doing it.
- 12:31This, from the very get go, doesn't start off great, it
- 12:37starts off rough. I understand that draping to the
- 12:46it's to create the pattern and you're going to use the actual
- 12:53because you're using ugly colored fabrics or fabric scraps
- 13:00justice to what the dress is going to look like.
- 13:02So it's just starts off looking rough from the get go.
- 13:05And then especially when you have a new graduate doing it
- 13:09that is way out of her league, she shouldn't have even offered
- 13:13to do this. It's very apparent from the get
- 13:17go. It's just not going well.
- 13:20Yes, there's a lot of ugly, ugly things happening in this
- 13:25episode, and I mean that strictly just appearance wise.
- 13:31We start with Christine. Christine tells us that she
- 13:35wants to do a simple empire waist dress.
- 13:37We see the drawing of this simple dress.
- 13:41It looks like a medieval times dress.
- 13:45Maiden bar, wench style, long sleeves draping down from the
- 13:53wrist in a triangular pattern, medieval dress.
- 13:59There's no other way to describe it.
- 14:02It's hideous. It looks like something you
- 14:04would wear to a Renaissance festival.
- 14:06I can't describe it any other way.
- 14:09So that's that's the starting point here everybody.
- 14:11Yes, Christine does share her inspiration with us, but before
- 14:15she had done that, I couldn't help but wonder, where is
- 14:20America's favorite polygamist wife, Robyn?
- 14:23And now, unfortunately, my conspiracy theory doesn't end up
- 14:30this that spoiled bitch? I was like, oh fuck Robyn.
- 14:33I jumped to a whole bunch of conclusions.
- 14:34I had the emoji of the eyeballs looking to the side like what is
- 14:39And I still want to know what she was doing and where she was
- 14:42because I don't trust that bitch.
- 14:43I don't trust that bitch for as long as I can, Thrower.
- 14:47Oh my God. Kody tells us that he thinks
- 14:50this is going to be a huge challenge for Sam and that he
- 14:54doesn't think she knows what she's getting herself into.
- 14:57Walt, Kody's telling this. They're on the couch, and I was
- 15:02very distracted by Kody's appearance.
- 15:04I'm wondering if you thought it looked potentially like he had
- 15:16filler Botox, something, I don't know if maybe his eyebrows were
- 15:20just darker. Something was going on with his
- 15:23face. And I'm doing the math in my
- 15:25head and I'm going, OK, so they filmed the season.
- 15:27They're doing these couch moments after they filmed
- 15:30everything. Once they wrapped before they
- 15:33did the next season. Did he go get?
- 15:35I couldn't make out what it was. It just seemed like his face was
- 15:43little different to me. I'm.
- 15:44Going to have to pay better attention during the next
- 15:47episode at the couch moments because the one thing that I
- 15:54thought was odd that they touch on towards the end of the
- 15:58episode is his facial hair again, which we've pointed out
- 16:03I thought that his facial hair, that they talk about, his full
- 16:11Maybe he's trying to cover something up.
- 16:14Maybe he got something done for the ceremony.
- 16:16Well, it would have been, I believe after because I didn't
- 16:21OK. And to be fair, like I was, it
- 16:26eyebrows are darker because I was trying to figure out what am
- 16:42you're kind of like, their face is different.
- 16:44And if you don't notice, you don't notice.
- 16:46But when you do notice, it's kind of like, it's all I could
- 16:50I was like what the fuck is going on with his head?
- 16:52Oh, my gosh, Now I'm going to have to pay a close attention
- 16:54because I feel like I usually am spot not on noticing that stuff.
- 17:00that would go and do something
- 17:02Oh yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 17:03So. And I'm sure he has.
- 17:05Yeah. I think there's points later in
- 17:07the show as well. I mean, I definitely in later
- 17:10seasons he's gotten Botox and fillers.
- 17:11There's points where like half
- 17:14his whole forehead doesn't move.
- 17:15And then they but the episode before he was like looking like
- 17:18a joker. It's just all over the place.
- 17:20I'm excited to see him try to be expressive without being able to
- 17:28Yes, he is. He definitely is.
- 17:30It's going to be comical. So I think Christine is the
- 17:34first one we see here with Sam draping her as well, right?
- 17:39Yeah, yeah. And I'm not familiar with the
- 17:41whole draping thing. Like I'm just going to be
- 17:42honest, no one's ever made a dress for me.
- 17:44I've never been in that place, and I haven't made many dresses
- 17:48myself. But while they're showing this
- 17:56And Christine says I feel like a dressmaker's dummy.
- 17:59And I can tell you, she ends up looking like some kind of dummy,
- 18:07your shape and the wrong colors and the wrong everything?
- 18:10Like everything was looking terrible.
- 18:12Unfortunately, I didn't quite connect the dots that it is like
- 18:17what the hell is going on here? But she definitely is a dummy,
- 18:25worse or the real fabric isn't much better than the scrap
- 18:30fabric, so they might as well have been using the draping
- 18:34fabric for their final dresses, which, my God, Yeah.
- 18:38Oh, my gosh, It's tragic from from the beginning here.
- 18:44It really is because the colors don't look good on her.
- 18:48That's what I mean. When they're draping the
- 18:50dresses, they just look ugly from the get go.
- 18:55And I feel like being on ATV show and this being such a huge
- 19:01opportunity, you just graduate from design school, you come in
- 19:05a little bit more put together, you maybe don't have such
- 19:10oddball draping fabric colors even to try to make things look
- 19:14better from the start. She's even wearing crazy low
- 19:18rise jeans that are frankly too small for her and her butt is
- 19:23about to pop out every time she's bending down to pin
- 19:26things. I don't understand people's
- 19:29choices when they know they're going to be on television and
- 19:33this is a fashion design graduate.
- 19:37I hear you. The jeans in every scene she's
- 19:47the jeans. And then the top where there she
- 19:53almost like, oh, gosh, don't hate me, but a woman of a
- 19:57certain age who works in like a biker bar.
- 19:59And she might be wearing the vest that she should have been
- 20:05small. So it just looks like
- 20:07everything's about to burst and pop.
- 20:08And you don't know if she's bringing you whiskey drinks or
- 20:15Everything's too small on her, which if somebody walked in
- 20:19looking like that to work on a dress for me, I instantly would
- 20:22say Nope and I would walk away. Nope, Nope, Nope.
- 20:26This isn't going to work because if you can't even dress
- 20:30yourself, honey, how are you supposed to make me a dress?
- 20:33Yeah, this isn't even going into a store and picking something
- 20:35out. It's making a dress.
- 20:37From scratch. They would say this to us in
- 20:41beauty school if people showed up looking rough.
- 20:43You can't sell beauty if you look like the beast, and that
- 20:47was all I had in my mind during yes.
- 20:50No, I mean, I would personally not be asking Sam for any
- 20:55garments made for me, and I probably wouldn't be asking her
- 20:58for any fashion advice. I think I would just or maybe I
- 21:00would, and then I would just ignore it all.
- 21:02So, you know, there's Sam. Yeah.
- 21:03Not even for this time. Everything that was going on was
- 21:14start. They really were.
- 21:17And you, it's funny because you have this draping fabric or the
- 21:21whatever that the scraps. Her mom is friends with Janelle.
- 21:27college, you don't have any money.
- 21:28OK, got it. I've been there.
- 21:31You can't ask your mom to go spend 20 bucks or something on a
- 21:34like bolt of some black or dark Gray fabric or whatever.
- 21:37You need to just have it look a little better for filming.
- 21:39And you could even just ask Janelle.
- 21:41I mean, she's asking this favor of you.
- 21:43I think it would be OK to buy a bolt of fabric.
- 21:45I mean, these people love a fabric store.
- 21:47Meri, Meri, she could have gone over to Meri's house.
- 21:50Meri probably has like reams and
- 21:52called. I kept thinking Meri was going
- 21:55to jump in at some point and offer to help because Meri
- 21:59supposedly knows how to sell PJ's, at least from what we
- 22:02know. I kept thinking Meri was going
- 22:06to offer to help and instead she
- 22:10struggle. Yes, she does.
- 22:12So and it gets worse and worse.
- 22:15We go to Janelle next. She's the second one to tell us
- 22:18what she wants for her dress. She tells us that she wants to
- 22:24She's more comfortable showing off her body now and she wants
- 22:31Get it girl. I think it's a great choice for
- 22:34her. I think a wrap dress is a good
- 22:40Sam on how to pick a dress for their body shape.
- 22:43So Janelle did the right thing. She picked the right style for
- 22:50Well, then there was Robyn's friend in San Francisco, The
- 22:53member, the fashion expert, whatever her fucking name was.
- 22:58about what would work for their body.
- 23:00Because Christine, Christine, her choice is a choice and
- 23:06Janelle's choice is another choice.
- 23:07And I would say they are opposite ends of the spectrum.
- 23:12She even tells us that one moment.
- 23:14I don't care if I can't breathe for the evening because I'll
- 23:16look really good. And I'm like, fuck yes, Janelle.
- 23:20it's like, I think I can do the the suck in for two hours and
- 23:24just rock it. Like I can fucking do this, you
- 23:26know? Yeah, I loved that she said
- 23:28that. It felt very different from the
- 23:31start of her at the beginning of
- 23:35a funny quote from her And Meri Meri, Meri Meri.
- 23:42Her long list of requests here.
- 23:45Meri doesn't want to feel restricted at all.
- 23:49She wants AV neck yadda yadda yadda yadda.
- 23:54She wants out-of-the-box edgy, Meri.
- 24:02Out-of-the-box Edgy? Really.
- 24:03Oh, but it also has to be flowy and drapey fabric.
- 24:08And I feel like those two things are very, you know, I can, I can
- 24:20one. I mean, you give that to someone
- 24:27realistic with her expectations as well.
- 24:29She is easy, breezy, beautiful Meri.
- 24:31You're talking to a designer that's wearing the most
- 24:34restrictive clothing that I've ever seen.
- 24:37Oh my God. And Meri's asking for the
- 24:41complete opposite. She wants flowy.
- 24:45I'm going to tell you right now she ends up with fabric akin to
- 24:52wet suit fabric. I would describe it as
- 24:57comparable to a wet suit fabric. So great choices happening here.
- 25:04was just envisioning her getting
- 25:07fucking vest off of herself. Just like I can't like she's
- 25:10like sewn in or something. It was insane.
- 25:12Peeling her clothes off. Yeah.
- 25:14Oh my gosh. And then we transitioned to a
- 25:16couch moment. That was so lol.
- 25:19Janelle is sharing that she has already talked to Sam about
- 25:23what Sam might be experiencing with her sister wives and she
- 25:27says to Meri she goes, I have to
- 25:31that you may be hesitates. And Christine goes be sister
- 25:36wife nice. I'm like sister wife nice.
- 25:39That's so amazing. Janelle chuckles.
- 25:42Everyone's kind of chuckling and
- 25:45be the pickiest. And Meri is laughing which is
- 25:48good. She's taking it in stride.
- 25:51And Janelle says don't worry, don't take it personally.
- 25:53It's just personality and they
- 25:59blinking and I love it because
- 26:03been there. When someone starts saying
- 26:04something and you're just waiting for it to finish, well,
- 26:09you're blinking. And I'm like, oh God, Meri,
- 26:11don't unhinge your jaw and swallow Janelle whole like this
- 26:14is Halloween week. She could turn into any kind of
- 26:16monster, you never know. But luckily she doesn't, thank
- 26:20God, because Janelle does follow
- 26:23And she's like, that's OK. They prepared us in fashion
- 26:26school for those kinds of clients.
- 26:28And everyone laughs. So luckily Janelle wrapped it up
- 26:30in a little humorous bow and it wasn't a takedown of Meri.
- 26:34Thank God, because I don't know that we can handle that.
- 26:37She was trying to be kind about saying it, but also we all know
- 26:42it's true so it's funny, but at the same time it's just
- 26:46reality. You can't get offended when you
- 26:49know that about yourself as well.
- 26:52Leave it to Meri to get offended about anything when she decides,
- 26:58road. So you never know.
- 26:59With her, you never know. She has a hard time expressing
- 27:02herself, honey. She sure does.
- 27:05She sure does. I was glad that it went that
- 27:08well because while she was blinking, which felt like a mini
- 27:11eternity, I was going, yeah, I've been there.
- 27:15Oh, God, oh, God. Oh, what's happening?
- 27:16And I was like, OK, Chris, it's always a little weird when I
- 27:19see myself and Meri. I have to take pause and reflect
- 27:23and genuflect, get back right with God.
- 27:27We hear this kind of thing from Janelle every now and then,
- 27:31where she starts off giving a compliment, kind of not
- 27:36backhanded compliments to the other wives.
- 27:40I've picked it up a few Times Now.
- 27:41She did it in the episode recently with Christine where
- 27:44she was trying to compliment her
- 27:50because she never thought she could be tough before.
- 27:53She kind of gets herself in these Pickles where you just
- 27:56want to say maybe stop while you're ahead.
- 28:00We get where you're going with
- 28:03being insulting. But it is kind of true.
- 28:06So yeah. We go back to the kitchen where
- 28:11Meri is now standing in front of
- 28:15through this edgy, flowy desire that she has.
- 28:19And she gestures with her hands over her waist, saying this is
- 28:24what needs to be accentuated, the smallest part of her tiny
- 28:28little waist. Then she glides her hands down
- 28:31to her hips and says, this does not.
- 28:36It's like, Oh my God, Meri. Like, she's so good.
- 28:40She's so unbelievably good. Oh my God.
- 28:43Do you think she's trying to be funny when she says this or do
- 28:47you think she thinks Sam is dumb
- 28:51where to make the dress tight and where not to I?
- 28:55Know, I just honestly don't know
- 28:59I'm like, is she saying this for
- 29:02Like what is happening here? And you know, she did talk about
- 29:06that when they went dress shopping too.
- 29:07She was all about how this shirt
- 29:09And it's like, you know, Meri,
- 29:12And like, yeah, I got it. Like you're what you're saying
- 29:15is the most basic shit. I think most women would
- 29:17understand if their waist is smaller than their hips, then
- 29:20accentuate that the waist is smaller than the hips.
- 29:22It's not rocket science. I mean, Christine wouldn't get
- 29:24it, but everyone else would. I just feel like she could have
- 29:27been trying to make a joke but
- 29:31Sam would have laughed she'd have given the death glare like
- 29:34it wasn't meant to be a joke. In the end it had that type of
- 29:39thing going for it that I couldn't tell if she was joking
- 29:42or not and I probably would have
- 29:45the room thinking she was making
- 29:48not. She tries to step people up for
- 29:51failure though. She tries to bait people
- 29:54sometimes. I think it was bait and switch
- 29:57would have happened here. Oh my God, I love that.
- 30:01Meri tells us that she's just at
- 30:04new things and do different things.
- 30:06And I'm like, OK, Mayor, she's
- 30:09and it doesn't rub me the wrong way.
- 30:12I just think it's funny that she's so kind of inside the box
- 30:15in many ways and she has this parallel narrative of her
- 30:19wanting to be edgy and different, but then also is
- 30:23pretty regimented and to the book.
- 30:26And so she's you know, there's a
- 30:29Meri all the time because she's flip flopping in her own life
- 30:31all over the place. And this is where we get a
- 30:34moment from Robyn on the couch
- 30:37spoken to Sam and Sam has agreed
- 30:41she can do. And I'm going, what the hell
- 30:43does that even mean? She hasn't even met you.
- 30:45She has. I mean, she agrees that she's
- 30:48going to see what she can do. And I was disappointed because I
- 30:52thought here on Halloween week I
- 30:56know, electrocute Robyn or throw
- 30:59something because she was lying the entire time and was never
- 31:01going to have a dress made. Turns out apparently she's going
- 31:05to work with Sam to see what Sam
- 31:08seeing her. So that's nice.
- 31:10Great idea. We get some spooky transition
- 31:16music. They have the best transition
- 31:19music ever on the show, and we
- 31:25to see Nancy. All of the adults are going to
- 31:30Nancy's office to work on the family mission statement.
- 31:37They are going to see their therapist to work on a family
- 31:41mission statement. I can't stress that enough.
- 31:43I just find it so odd. You're going to see a therapist,
- 31:48you have many an issue to work
- 31:53write your family mission statement for a farce of a
- 31:57ceremony to put on a posture for
- 32:01Like I can't with them. We're not going to therapy to
- 32:06work on our real issues. Nope, Nope, Nope.
- 32:09We're going to work on the family mission statement and
- 32:11have Nancy, a licensed therapist, moderate the writing
- 32:17of this mission statement yet again.
- 32:21But they don't want to spend money on doctors for their
- 32:24children, but they're spending
- 32:27therapy. Yeah.
- 32:33Oh, that's, you know, it's funny
- 32:36even strike me in the moment as that bizarre because this
- 32:39family is so fucking weird. But yeah, why on God's green
- 32:42earth are you doing this with a therapist?
- 32:45Especially when you know the outstanding items that you
- 32:47certainly should be working on.
- 32:49But I do suspect that Nancy might have connected the dots
- 32:53that you just did as well when we hear from her a little later.
- 32:59this, she's like, what the fuck am I?
- 33:01What are they doing here? What are they doing here?
- 33:03They just busted into my office.
- 33:05They just kicked down my door, sat down and forced me to write
- 33:11down their family mission statement in my therapy notes.
- 33:19through the door and like the scary music's playing and
- 33:22whatever her name is got the cigarette with the ash and it's
- 33:25all scary. And Nancy's like, Oh my God, the
- 33:29Oh. God.
- 33:30They show a clip of the adults almost discussing, I feel like
- 33:58It was bizarre. I mean, I could see at high
- 34:02level where if you were going to talk about, OK, we want to talk
- 34:05about child rearing and we want to talk about our interpersonal
- 34:08relationships or whatever, I I could see the start of it.
- 34:11But the way they were addressing it just felt almost, well, you
- 34:21exercise. Like we have these parameters
- 34:22and these guidelines and we've got to give supporting content
- 34:27It did. It felt mechanical, like they
- 34:30looked up a template on how to start doing this and that's what
- 34:40She's obviously not helping here because I don't know.
- 34:44I don't know. When regarding an improved
- 34:48healthy lifestyle, Christine has drafted a truly scrumptious
- 34:52paragraph that really moved me and she shared it with everyone
- 34:56in a touching moment. She says, excuse me, I just want
- 35:04physical body, we intend to return it as great as we
- 35:07received it. OK.
- 35:10As they're going back and forth about it, you know, and they're
- 35:14kind of razzing her and Kody saying, well, you know, it was
- 35:21And she's like, yes, I was serious when I wrote it.
- 35:24And it's like, you were serious, Nick.
- 35:26You were serious. You think that your body today
- 35:31out of your mom's vagina. I mean, like, it's just a
- 35:35bizarre way of putting into this framework of being healthy and
- 35:45It's just bizarre. Strange.
- 35:47I don't think that a family mission statement in my mind
- 35:52would include your physical body.
- 35:54It would have more to do with your mental emotional support
- 35:59for each other. The non tangibles, so that's why
- 36:09they want to touch on, like the financials, the body, I just
- 36:14was a bit confused by it. I guess that's why I'm like, I
- 36:20So Christine takes it very literal, talking about the
- 36:25physical body, but trying to incorporate the Almighty God in
- 36:29the celestial Kingdom and returning as good as we were
- 36:34received here on earth. And she's trying to be poetic
- 36:39and it's not working. I thought of when we would go
- 36:45camping when we were younger. The campsite rule.
- 36:48Leave it better than you found it.
- 36:50She's. There, you cleaned up.
- 36:52Leave it better than you found it.
- 36:53Except for she's talking about their bodies.
- 36:57It's quite something. It's very Christian.
- 37:01And Kody thanks her for stimulating our thought process
- 37:05with this suggestion. Stimulation.
- 37:07That was another one of their words.
- 37:10Man, for polygamous cult members, they really like
- 37:14talking about stimulation. Absolutely.
- 37:16Then they show a clip of Janelle reading what they have so far in
- 37:25going to be. It's like it must be paragraphs
- 37:28and paragraphs and paragraphs. It's got to be an entire full
- 37:32page of copy, no double space. Just like paragraphs of shit.
- 37:35Not like a sentence or two that clearly describes what you're
- 37:38doing. It's like a book.
- 37:40It's like the preamble to the Pledge of Allegiance.
- 37:43We the people, in order to form a perfect union Jesus, they're
- 37:56they have of this mission statement, we get a spotlight
- 37:58moment for Robyn where she shares her feelings about what
- 38:05Every time we read it, you know, I like, I get goosebumps, I get
- 38:13choked up. I'm like, this is cool.
- 38:19Really cool Robyn it's. Really cool.
- 38:24Our family mission statement is real, real cool.
- 38:29My Lanta, this woman, there's just no one like her.
- 38:34No one like her. Goosebumps.
- 38:35It gives her goosebumps. She gets all choked up.
- 38:40It's like Robyn, just, you know, improve your posture.
- 38:43You'll be fine. My God.
- 38:44At least she's not hearing angels singing like Christine
- 38:46does. Listen, everyone in the room is
- 38:49stimulated except for Nancy, OK?
- 38:51Nancy's not so stimulated. While they're chatting with
- 38:55Nancy, though, they talk about
- 38:57statement made to be signed by
- 39:01available to put into their home
- 39:04this mission statement. They have to go into detail when
- 39:08describing this. I should say Robyn is the one
- 39:12going into detail because leave it to her to just yap or jaw.
- 39:18They describe that well. We're going to get it printed on
- 39:22nice paper. We're going to put it in frames.
- 39:25We're going to have four of them
- 39:28four of the homes, and then we're going to sign each of
- 39:31them, perhaps on a canvas, Kody says.
- 39:35Why do they have to overly describe?
- 39:38Yeah, we're going to get it printed and put it in frames.
- 39:41Why did it have to be 10 full sentences about how that's going
- 39:48I thought, surely some of these women have canvases in their
- 39:51homes now. Based on Janelle and Christine's
- 39:57canvas printer painting of any sort.
- 39:59I know they have those tiny little pieces of word art.
- 40:03But I'm going and I'm going, is this how would it even be a big
- 40:09doll to get 4 canvases made now?
- 40:12Unless no, it is the Browns. So Kody would probably over
- 40:15complicate it and find some artisan person in like a valley
- 40:19seven years in the future, 15,000 miles away.
- 40:21And it would take, you know, the
- 40:24things to get it. And it's like, you know, and it
- 40:26isn't today, but you could just have them made and it's not a
- 40:30big deal. It's just weird.
- 40:32I don't get it. I don't get it at all.
- 40:33I think even then you could have
- 40:38to get a picture printed on a canvas.
- 40:41You could have gotten a picture of this statement printed and
- 40:46then printed on to canvas. The wives act like this is such
- 40:51a horrible idea. A canvas?
- 40:53No, a canvas is too permanent for us.
- 40:59It's such a big deal to get it
- 41:05no, no, we hear from Janelle. Well, if it's on canvas, what if
- 41:12you ever got another wife? Then what would we do?
- 41:17The ghost of fifth wife. OK, that's lame.
- 41:23We couldn't just go get another one printed or add this
- 41:28person's name onto the canvas.
- 41:33not shitty computer paper in case we have to print another
- 41:38one someday. They even reference it being
- 41:40painted on a canvas. And I'm going, why does this is
- 41:43where I'm thinking? They literally think it's going
- 41:45to be like a masterpiece and it's like, yeah, just print it
- 41:47on. It's just I don't, I do not get
- 41:50these people. Even if you wanted someone to
- 41:52write it in calligraphy for you.
- 41:53I know people that have gotten their wedding invites done
- 41:58through a calligraphist artist and it's not cheap by any means,
- 42:08These people act like everything is so hard.
- 42:11They have to over describe printing something and they
- 42:15can't even agree on whether it should be on fancy paper or
- 42:21canvas or painted or printed. Write it in your own blood for
- 42:28This is the new baby decision. Fucking figure out your mission
- 42:33statement. Make the difficult decision?
- 42:35No. Marry Papa Vein and get it
- 42:39started. Oh my God, I love it.
- 42:41Write it in your own blood. I mean, that's what they should
- 42:43have done if they really loved each other, that's for sure.
- 42:45That that totally makes sense. Each wife could have done one
- 42:48for her own home, in her own blood.
- 42:51I mean, it would have been truly artistic.
- 42:56And Kody takes out a little dropper and puts like one drop
- 43:03little paint tray, like, Oh my God, this is going well.
- 43:06Would have been great part to add to the ceremony.
- 43:09It would have been truly magical, truly something, yes.
- 43:18another wife, and Janelle hasn't a great rebuttal, she says.
- 43:21I honestly don't foresee it coming, but you know, we never
- 43:29Oh. The camera does a pan to Robyn,
- 43:32and she's just sitting there, Sitting there.
- 43:34She didn't look as upset as she could have.
- 43:37I think she didn't look as upset as when they were in that
- 43:40terribly busy restaurant in San Francisco where they couldn't
- 43:42even barely function and she was, you know, scowling because
- 43:45Kody was talking to his wife on a phone.
- 43:48Like, my God. But it was interesting.
- 43:51Maybe it was just a little drama for the effect from production,
- 43:54but she was just sitting there kind of like, yeah, never saw me
- 44:02Was it a jab at her? Not sure.
- 44:05Not quite sure, Janelle. Well, you just brought up
- 44:08Janelle does have this way of if she cared, it would be putting
- 44:13So it's just like, you know, whatever.
- 44:14She starts saying something and then she reigns it in, but then
- 44:19she kind of says it anyway. She even says that she was
- 44:24caught off guard by the idea coming into her head, but she
- 44:28just thought it in the moment and so she had to say it.
- 44:34OK, Kody on the couch. He's got to get serious about
- 44:40this now. Kody says that he wants to put
- 44:52He does not think there will be another wife.
- 44:56No God. I think that Robyn would slit
- 44:59his throat in his sleep if he considered getting another wife,
- 45:05one after Robyn, do you? No, I think it's just that
- 45:09thing, that teaser that, you know, that helpful thing for
- 45:13television, basically. Maybe he's getting sick of it at
- 45:17going to put it to bed. Maybe Robyn's actually getting
- 45:22scenes about it. Yeah, that could be as well.
- 45:25I'm just picturing after she slits his neck or his wrists or
- 45:28whatever that then there's more blood for their family mission
- 45:34Red Rob Red Rob writing on all their new walls in the house.
- 45:42Get spooky. Well, Speaking of Spooky, Kody
- 45:49another wife is destined for their family.
- 45:54And then there's a long pause, and we cut back to Nancy
- 46:00speaking in her office. And I love this.
- 46:03This is where we get some truth from Nancy.
- 46:06You know, this is where she's got something to say, she says.
- 46:10You've constructed an amazing
- 46:12statement with incredible values, a whole lot more of
- 46:16awareness of how you want to be.
- 46:18Do I think you have it all figured out?
- 46:22No. But you can get the fuck out of
- 46:27my office now that's what she's thinking.
- 46:29And I I just was, oh, I go first of all, laughing out loud.
- 46:33Laughing out loud, like brilliant moment as far as at
- 46:36least editing, because then as soon as I caught my breath from
- 46:40laughter, I was wondering what was the precursor to her saying
- 46:44this? Like, I wonder if they wrapped
- 46:56yeah, you've got a great statement here, but do you have
- 47:00anything else figured out? No.
- 47:02Like it's insane and she's just using her therapist voice to say
- 47:07instead of the bigger picture. I'm sure that she, as a
- 47:11therapist, is kind of going insane in her own mind.
- 47:14Like, what am I even doing here? Are they really here to get
- 47:18help? Because I'm just helping them
- 47:22write project essentially, not fix their marriages, which is
- 47:27what I thought I was supposed to be doing.
- 47:30Yeah, Nancy, the copywriter, very well.
- 47:33She's more of an editor at this point.
- 47:34She's more like approved. I approve of your mission
- 47:38statement, however. dot dot, dot like.
- 47:40Oh my God. Oh my God.
- 47:42Do we see more of her in the future?
- 47:44Do they continue going to therapy?
- 47:46After this, Oh yes, we get to spend plenty more time with
- 47:50Nancy, Yes. OK.
- 47:51And there's no implication behind what I was trying to say.
- 47:56just a therapist doing her best with these fucked up people.
- 48:03Meri shares that she's concerned
- 48:06family after they've completed
- 48:09celebration is over. I'm on the merry train here for
- 48:12a second. Seems rational.
- 48:14And Kody says he doesn't want to
- 48:17table, which I thought, does he mean sweep it under the rug?
- 48:20I think that's what the expression is.
- 48:22But let's say, you know, sweeping her concerns under the
- 48:24table makes sense, that she needs to own moving her mindset
- 48:30to a positive, hopeful place. This exchange feels dismissive,
- 48:35but I feel like I kind of understand both positions.
- 48:39Like what was your take away on this?
- 48:41So first of all, she doesn't fully express what her concern
- 48:44is. She just says she's concerned
- 48:47about what happens after. She doesn't come out and say,
- 48:51I'm concerned that after all of this is said and done, we're
- 48:53just going to go our separate ways.
- 48:55Again. I'm concerned about our
- 48:57connections being maintained after the ceremony.
- 49:00No, we yet just, I'm just concerned about what's going to
- 49:04happen when it's over this empty
- 49:09And of course, Kody wants her to
- 49:12You got to change your mindset.
- 49:14It's all on you here. You're the one that's got to
- 49:19change your outlook, not us. More of the same again.
- 49:24And she fucking deserves it. She did it to Christine so many
- 49:29times blatantly in our faces. You're getting what you're
- 49:32dishing out here. You're so right.
- 49:34Meri doesn't share her actual concerns.
- 49:36So what are you supposed to do with it?
- 49:38Because I'm going, Yeah. Why are there is an element in
- 49:47maybe choosing to actually problem solve?
- 49:50She can't even name what she's concerned about, so how is there
- 49:58this shit. Kody's telling you to keep sweet
- 50:01and it's kind of a nothing burger, but yet it's still in
- 50:03the show because I guess it's what it's as deep as they get in
- 50:06their conversations, I guess. If she would have gone deeper
- 50:09and if she would have said, I'm concerned about us not staying
- 50:15together or not keeping our relationship strong after the
- 50:18ceremony, Kody never would have said you just need to change
- 50:21your mindset. He would have said, well, that's
- 50:23what we're working on, we'll keep working on it, which would
- 50:26have even been a better conclusion than for her to
- 50:30change her outlook. But she didn't give him really
- 50:33anything to finish the thought
- 50:36They're just so shallow with everything.
- 50:39They never really go there. That's why the therapy session
- 50:45pisses me off. As soon as they started and they
- 50:47started with the family mission statement, they didn't start
- 50:50with. We've all been so stressed out.
- 50:52We're all working on parts of the ceremony and we're not
- 50:55working well together and we're having trouble making
- 50:58decisions. And This is why.
- 51:00No, they're there writing their homework with a therapist.
- 51:05Like, get your fucking shit together, people.
- 51:08And then we get this half baked moment of concern.
- 51:15OK, isn't that why you were just in therapy was to work on what's
- 51:29work on this other thing. Instead of working on the true
- 51:35the issue in front of all of our family and friends.
- 51:39Yep, absolutely. It's more of the same.
- 51:44It's exhausting, exhausting. You're like, I'm exhausted by
- 51:50this family, God. To wrap up this scene, Kody
- 51:54says. I think Nancy is pleased to have
- 52:00something this wonderful. And I went holy fucking
- 52:05narcissistic. Much like red flags, red flags,
- 52:08yellow flags, red flags, red flags.
- 52:10You are in therapy and your concern is the approval and
- 52:14pleasure the therapist being pleased with you.
- 52:17I mean, I am certainly no therapy expert, but I don't
- 52:21think the goal of therapy is to have the therapist approval or
- 52:28conversation. It's like you're there to
- 52:30unearth some real truths and work on some real shit and at
- 52:33times have an objective person be the mirror held up to you to
- 52:36really call you out on some stuff in a non aggressive manner
- 52:42understanding of therapy. Not to have the therapist go
- 52:45good job I'm pleased with you. Like what the fuck even is this?
- 52:51pleased with him and he did a good job.
- 52:54I get the vibe that he thinks she is proud of her work with
- 52:58them. Like she needs that as well from
- 53:01them. Which was?
- 53:03Weird to me. Oh wow, that is total, you know.
- 53:07Like she's so lucky she got to
- 53:09We're so great and we probably
- 53:12about her position. Oh my God.
- 53:16Either way, I mean both, but either way, that's like, this is
- 53:21so nuts. It is so.
- 53:23I'm like, I don't even know how to articulate it, but those are
- 53:26like the the vibes that I got.
- 53:31He just thinks in such a weird
- 53:34moment for me to wrap my mind around like what he's putting
- 53:38down, like what's really behind what he's saying.
- 53:42It's very bizarre. He needs to actually seek some
- 53:46therapy out and not be putting
- 53:52He just seems so unaware that getting other people's approval
- 53:56is not the most important thing in everything.
- 53:58And like, if you can't connect
- 54:01to you, you're going to miss so much shit.
- 54:03And I just, that's why I hate to
- 54:06thing because anybody that talks about Kody says he's a
- 54:09narcissist. OK, well, we're not here to
- 54:10diagnose anyone, but it's like literally you're worried about
- 54:18approval about herself or pleased with herself.
- 54:20Like, what is this take away? It is so bizarre, so bizarre.
- 54:24Yeah, and that's the thing with narcissists, right?
- 54:28They just are so caught up in their own world that they don't
- 54:34ever seem to get the bigger picture.
- 54:37And that's what we see time and time with him is that he can't
- 54:46things in other than his own perspective and his own needs.
- 54:59something in a different way than it's intended, like if it
- 55:05But in his case, I don't think
- 55:07they're that happens very much.
- 55:09I think he's just that unaware of what's going on.
- 55:12It's kind of strange. You hear in reality TV they ask
- 55:16you to say lines in like post production if they're missing
- 55:20something or missing a sound bite.
- 55:22I don't get that feeling from him very often because I think
- 55:31that type of person. Yeah, yeah.
- 55:34Well, don't you worry everyone. We are taking a left turn like
- 55:44Sam is back for the next fitting or whatever it's called of the
- 55:53So is this another step between the thing and then the actual
- 55:57fabric? Like do you cut the not real
- 56:00fabric to make pre cuts so that you have like a test or
- 56:03something? They took some of Christine's
- 56:05mock tapioca pudding. They used an iron.
- 56:10They smeared it out. They made fabric called mock
- 56:15fabric. They draped it over Christine's
- 56:17body. I think that it's like the
- 56:21second layer or whatever where they make the actual.
- 56:25Pattern. Where they make the pattern,
- 56:28Yes, but Christine doesn't know what she's talking about.
- 56:31So yeah, but they're making more.
- 56:33They're making more of the pattern.
- 56:34It just cracks me up like when they had try to have Christine
- 56:40I know because I'm thinking in my head, I'm going there's
- 56:44additional cuts, pinning and measurements happening here on
- 56:50Mock up. Yeah, I'd be, I'd go in.
- 56:53And so is this a phase between what we did before and the
- 56:57actual fabric? I just was like, she, I didn't
- 57:02God bless Christine. She's.
- 57:03Just silly. And Christine has a, what I'm
- 57:07going to call a garment now, not to be confused with her
- 57:11undergarments that they wear as these, you know, Mormon
- 57:14fundamentalist polygamist. She's wearing this thing, and it
- 57:24more gorgeous. Gorgeous, darling.
- 57:26And just as I was basking in Christine's beauty, Kody walks
- 57:34Oh, Kody. And Christine asks him, what do
- 57:37you think? And I just love this part.
- 57:44I love this part so much. Oh, I love this part.
- 57:47Living in a household with a mother and a father together,
- 57:51going through the wild ride of marital bliss with my parents.
- 57:59happens. You know, Kody's on the couch at
- 58:07And all the wives are laughing.
- 58:09And I thought, now as we go through this, my mind shifted a
- 58:13little bit, but I went, it's so fucking true.
- 58:16All of the the scenes and sitcoms about the wife getting
- 58:22think? And it's just like, Oh my God,
- 58:27And she's like, it doesn't look
- 58:29great. What do you think?
- 58:29And he's like, it looks fine. And she's like, it looks fine.
- 58:32And it's like, there's no way,
- 58:35And I so empathize with any man that has been in this
- 58:39situation, the good men, the good men, the men I love in my
- 58:42life that I, you know, they're not toxic enough to cut out,
- 58:45still deal with this. And I, I, if they look at me,
- 58:49I'm like, don't look at me. I don't fucking know.
- 58:51It's not. I don't know what to say, you
- 58:53know? It's literally just scraps that
- 58:57are pinned on to her, too. So there was no reason for her
- 59:01to even ask how it looked because it looked like a bunch
- 59:06of nothing. Yeah.
- 59:07Yeah. I think it's instinct sometimes
- 59:09when your husband walks in and
- 59:12to ask them what they think. I don't think she really thought
- 59:15she would get a great answer. I don't think she was trying to
- 59:19do that here. I think I only ever asked my
- 59:23husband his opinion when I'm trying to figure out shoes at
- 59:27the end of an outfit. Like what shoes should I wear
- 59:31with this? And usually it's because we're
- 59:34going out somewhere and I'm trying to decide if I want to be
- 59:37a completely uncomfortable for
- 59:40heels or if I want to be comfortable and wear the shorter
- 59:43shoes so I get his opinion on which one looks best so that you
- 59:47know I have an out. If he picks the comfy shoes for
- 59:50me, I try not to even really ask
- 59:55just going to be a kind thing that he says anyway.
- 59:59And so, well, this doesn't really matter to me.
- 1:00:01I agree with you about this example.
- 1:00:02I think that Christine just kind
- 1:00:05And I don't think she was trying
- 1:00:08phrases that you would say, but just reminded me of the times
- 1:00:12where I don't. You know we love women on this
- 1:00:14podcast, even me, the leader of the manosphere.
- 1:00:17Of the manosphere. You love us so much there.
- 1:00:19Are times where it does feel a
- 1:00:23win here, and it's not even about winning.
- 1:00:24It's about no one's going to do anything right in this
- 1:00:27situation, and that's where we're going.
- 1:00:29It didn't have that vibe, but it
- 1:00:32moment to my childhood and my mother and father and going
- 1:00:34like, yeah, there was no way my dad was ever going to do any
- 1:00:36right in that situation. I'm the type of person that
- 1:00:39would get all the time from other people.
- 1:00:42The the comment. Well, it looks good on you.
- 1:00:46I wouldn't wear it, but it looks
- 1:00:49So I just stopped asking people because I like I have a
- 1:00:52different sense of style. So if I like it, whatever, Fuck
- 1:00:55you guys. Yeah, you wouldn't wear it
- 1:00:57because you're boring. Thinking about myself, I don't
- 1:01:00really ask what they think about
- 1:01:03haircut is. I just don't default to that.
- 1:01:05I think there are other gay men where if I go out and we're
- 1:01:08going to a certain event or a certain type thing, I will ask
- 1:01:11if I if they feel like it's the right vibe.
- 1:01:14But in general, I'm not asking
- 1:01:16I look or what my clothes are,
- 1:01:19shit. Like I'm just like, I'm just
- 1:01:20rocking what I'm doing. So I don't really identify with
- 1:01:22that. Yeah.
- 1:01:24Kody says. The funny thing about validating
- 1:01:26women is I can't tell. If they want the truth, I can't
- 1:01:31tell. I can't tell if I'm supposed to
- 1:01:34tell them what they want to hear
- 1:01:38That doesn't look good. I'm sorry.
- 1:01:41I was like, Oh my God, Oh my God, he says.
- 1:01:46This is where I can take a note from the real man's handbook of
- 1:01:49yes, she looks beautiful in it.
- 1:01:52I should have just said that, but I was like, it's such a
- 1:01:57blatant lie because it's scraps on your body.
- 1:01:59It's. Like this?
- 1:02:01Is sad and once again, I don't think she's trying to set him
- 1:02:03up, but this is the whole thing probably actually going through
- 1:02:05his mind is like, what the fuck do I say?
- 1:02:08There's literally just scraps of fabric all over her fucking
- 1:02:10body. Like Oh yeah, you look
- 1:02:11beautiful. Like what?
- 1:02:12Like what is he even supposed to say?
- 1:02:13You look like Cinderella when her step sisters ripped the
- 1:02:16dress off of her. You look great.
- 1:02:19And Kody was telling us all of this on the couch, but then we
- 1:02:29Really. Like, what do you think?
- 1:02:30To Kody, she's at least volunteering that she's nervous.
- 1:02:34her a little nervous. So what does he think?
- 1:02:37And he says, you know, it needs to fit her tighter and fit her
- 1:02:40better. And it's a Princess dress, It is
- 1:02:43Christine, and I guess it is a
- 1:02:47And then back on the couch, Christine admits.
- 1:02:49You know, I knew it looked downright hideous.
- 1:02:51And Christine and Janelle kind
- 1:02:53giving him props for answering
- 1:02:56And he cracks a joke about this man handbook and how he wishes
- 1:03:00he was sitting there with all of
- 1:03:02high fiving him. And then Robyn has to jump in
- 1:03:05with a funny little quip. Do you want to do a little
- 1:03:07impression of Robyn giving him a
- 1:03:10Yeah, leave it to Robyn to pretend to be the dude and be
- 1:03:13supportive of Kody in this situation.
- 1:03:15And yeah, man, do the fake high 5 to her husband.
- 1:03:18She's a cornball. Anything to be the cheerleader
- 1:03:22for Kody, you know? Yes.
- 1:03:28When we return back to the room where Sam is, Robyn is there
- 1:03:32and I was wondering where America's favorite shy, pretty
- 1:03:36wife was. I love her so much and I just
- 1:03:39missed her. She's getting fabric scraps.
- 1:03:41I guess that's what they're called.
- 1:03:44Draped and pinned on her. She shares the inspiration from
- 1:03:47her dress, which is a modesty friendly alternative to the
- 1:03:51common St. Hore tube top and mini skirt
- 1:03:54outfit she liked from the Skinny Bitch store in San Francisco.
- 1:03:57Kitty Bitch store. Which is really actually a
- 1:04:01fairly attractive standard dress a normal person would wear to
- 1:04:05maybe church. I mean, it is at the knees that
- 1:04:08might be a little short for church for some people,
- 1:04:11Understandable. But when I looked at it, I
- 1:04:13thought there's nothing salacious about this dress.
- 1:04:15And even in the photo, I think she was wearing one of those.
- 1:04:18OK, what are they called? The little jackets.
- 1:04:20A little bolero jacket. She shows one photo with it off
- 1:04:23and I thought, OK, you can see her arms.
- 1:04:25That is a bit much for this family.
- 1:04:27And then they show her with the bolero jacket.
- 1:04:29And I thought, I can't believe that this wouldn't be
- 1:04:32appropriate for a family commitment ceremony.
- 1:04:34But you know, I guess it is what it is.
- 1:04:38I don't know, trouble in paradise.
- 1:04:40Showing off those knees with other men at the ceremony is not
- 1:04:48I can't have anybody seeing your calves, you hussy.
- 1:04:52Well, they had to pay for the houses somehow, so don't forget
- 1:04:56about that. You know, you know, you know.
- 1:04:59And Meri's next in this in the scrap making session with Sam
- 1:05:03and she's wearing a tent. It literally looked like the
- 1:05:06green tent my brothers and I would camp in in the backyard
- 1:05:09when we were kids. Like this weird off green, green
- 1:05:17It was a tent wrapped around her body.
- 1:05:20Gross, gross fabric. And then Kody has to yell that
- 1:05:30be work. They've got their work cut out
- 1:05:36be anything wearable. This is so far fetched it's not
- 1:05:40even funny. They are setting this girl up
- 1:05:43for failure. She's setting herself up for
- 1:05:46failure. She should have asked another
- 1:05:49graduate, another friend from her design school to help her
- 1:05:52and they could have each done 2 dresses.
- 1:05:54That would have been feasible. Or dresses starting completely
- 1:06:03Mccall's pattern from Jo Ann fabric.
- 1:06:05It's like, what the fuck are you thinking?
- 1:06:08Yeah, this is your first job out of school.
- 1:06:12Kody is right. This is about to be truly
- 1:06:16fucking horrific. Horrifying with a capital H
- 1:06:20whore for Robyn. Oh, Robyn.
- 1:06:24Just that whore Robyn. Showing off them knees.
- 1:06:29Spooky knees. Yes, Oh my gosh.
- 1:06:32Now don't you worry everybody. The fright is not quite over.
- 1:06:36There is more to come in Part 2 of this episode.
- 1:06:39That's going to drop on Thursday.
- 1:06:40We are going to cut to five days before the commitment
- 1:06:44celebration. Quite a cliffhanger.
- 1:06:45Are the Browns going to be able to get their act together for
- 1:06:49the family commitment celebration?
- 1:06:51Will Nancy rejoin the family to celebrate with them?
- 1:06:54I actually don't know if that happened.
- 1:06:57So that was a weird thing to say.
- 1:06:58But we're going to come back to you on Thursday with Part 2 of
- 1:07:08We're going to be scared. This is going to be scary.
- 1:07:10It's going to be frightening. I am scared.
- 1:07:12I'm scared for Sam. I'm so scared for Sam.
- 1:07:15Let's see if she can do this. We went from scared of Sam to
- 1:07:21scared for Sam real quick and I definitely am both still scared
- 1:07:25of her. Also scared for her.
- 1:07:28See you in 2 days.
