- 0:28Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:30coop, very chilly morning out here.
- 0:33Spring is starting to come up, but today's chilly anyway.
- 0:38So today we are talking about wants versus willing to do.
- 0:43Now there are a lot of lessons coming up this week because I'm
- 0:46working on farm stuff, I'm working on redoing some things
- 0:50and I think there's some very valuable lessons to be brought
- 0:52up in this. So I'm going to be helping weave
- 0:55them in here as we go, because I think, I think it will be a
- 0:58great way and a great metaphor for everybody to see it this
- 1:01way. So wants versus willing to do
- 1:04big one for me out here on the farm because I want everything.
- 1:08I want this massive greenhouse. I want to have a garden that's
- 1:13200 by 200. I want to grow every single
- 1:16tomato variety that I possibly can.
- 1:19And I have, my father used to say all the time when I was a
- 1:23little girl, your eyes are bigger than your belly.
- 1:26And that didn't just count for ice cream, which is where he
- 1:28always said it to me, But it it usually shows up in a lot of
- 1:33places for me because I have a massive imagination.
- 1:36So I love the idea of being able to do more and more and more,
- 1:40and it becomes a sense of overwhelm.
- 1:45It can become a sense of overwhelm.
- 1:47I don't usually let it because I know how to get past these
- 1:51things. But really what it boils down to
- 1:53for me is taking wants and saying, OK, what am I willing to
- 1:58do to make these things take place and how much time am I
- 2:01willing to put into these? And that's where it always gets
- 2:04a little bit more. I don't want to say tricky, but
- 2:09you have to get to the place where you're going to be
- 2:11radically honest with yourself. So I am looking at having some
- 2:17help come in to help me put some irrigation in.
- 2:20Why? Because I'm not willing to do it
- 2:22myself. I know I need the outcome of
- 2:24this because it's just too much to keep up in the heat we have
- 2:28down South. It's just way too much to keep
- 2:31up with watering every single day at the level that we have to
- 2:35by hand. I I physically could be doing
- 2:38watering 8 hours a day and that's just not possible with
- 2:41what I have in my business and family.
- 2:44You know, stuff that I have to do, it being there and doing
- 2:47that, plus being outside in that heat is not something that I
- 2:52relish doing. So it's something that I have to
- 2:55say, OK, I'm not willing to do this.
- 2:58So the the way this can start off for you and how you can look
- 3:02at this in your life as you can look at and you may be already
- 3:05getting adjustments to goals for the year and saying, gosh, I
- 3:07didn't realize this was going to be so complex.
- 3:10I didn't realize this was going to take up so much time and I
- 3:12want to adjust my goals and that's fine.
- 3:14I really want you to hear me say that.
- 3:16It's fine. I have had more people this
- 3:19year, I think, than ever than have just come to the
- 3:21realization they have to be honest with themselves and they
- 3:23have to adjust their goals if they need to, so be OK with
- 3:26that. But this is really about saying
- 3:29what am I willing to do? And so I was like, I'm not
- 3:32willing to have another summer where I am overwhelmed with
- 3:35watering. I want the outcome.
- 3:37I am willing to do it. I I I am willing to work my butt
- 3:41off. But I can't do that piece of it.
- 3:44I'm not willing to do that piece of it and then saying, OK, now
- 3:48what am I going to do about that?
- 3:49Does that make me give up on the goal or does it make me ask for
- 3:52help? Does it make me say, OK, I need
- 3:55to go ahead and admit defeat in a certain way or admit I need
- 3:59help and I am very stubborn. I hate to admit that I need help
- 4:03like I'm I'll just, I'd rather suffer through some things than
- 4:05admit that I need help. And that is something when we
- 4:08talked about, they're all things that we, you know, don't like
- 4:10about ourselves. That's one of the things for me.
- 4:12I wish I was a little more a minimal to that.
- 4:15But you know, I was raised by a dad who always was like, no, you
- 4:19can do it. And that put me in a headspace
- 4:22of like, no, I can do it. Can I?
- 4:24Yes. Should I?
- 4:26Maybe not. And that's something I've had to
- 4:28really work towards and learn because it's part of being human
- 4:32to ask for help. And it also makes other people
- 4:35feel good when you let them help, when they when you let
- 4:37them have that ability to say let me help you, it it really
- 4:41does matter to people. They get to feel good too.
- 4:44So from that vein, take this on and really start looking at what
- 4:48are you willing to do. Not just what you want, because
- 4:52the wants are powerful and they will drive you incredibly
- 4:56insane. But you have to look at what am
- 4:58I willing to do and you may need to adjust.
- 5:01Bottom line, you may need to adjust and it's OK adjust.
- 5:05Ask for help. Believe me, I've got a crew of
- 5:08people coming here to install irrigation and I am excited
- 5:12about it because I recognize I wrote down This is it.
- 5:16You know I need help with this. So inform yourself.
- 5:20Give yourself that break. Figure out the difference.
- 5:24All right, my friends, I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:26I hope you have a blessed day. Bye.
