- 0:00Speaker 1: Don on Light FM.
- 0:01Speaker 2: It's Cubby and Christine, producer Kristen. We're just talking about
- 0:04Speaker 2: all the holidays. We just talked about Halloween candy and
- 0:07Speaker 2: how long it will last. Go back and listen on
- 0:09Speaker 2: the iHeartRadio app if you missed that conversation. Just search
- 0:12Speaker 2: Cubby and Christine. Now let's tackle Thanksgiving.
- 0:14Speaker 3: Let's talk turkey.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Let's talk turkey.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Yes.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Apparently you can already, can you call the Butterball Hotline yet?
- 0:19Speaker 1: Or they're getting ready to?
- 0:20Speaker 3: I don't know if it's up and running, but they
- 0:22Speaker 3: are getting it together. It's funny because I was thinking
- 0:24Speaker 3: of this as I was driving in Cubby. Where are
- 0:27Speaker 3: we spending Thanksgiving this year? Hmm.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Do you want me to invite you over?
- 0:31Speaker 3: Yeah, could you?
- 0:32Speaker 1: Actually, we're out of the country. Did you know that?
- 0:34Speaker 3: No, so you just psyched me out, didn't you?
- 0:35Speaker 1: You want to come on vacation with us?
- 0:36Speaker 3: Yes, I would.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Definitely. Actually, before we get into this topic, where do
- 0:40Speaker 1: you normally do Thanksgiving?
- 0:42Speaker 3: Well, usually I'm with my brother and sister-in-law. Okay. My brother, Steve,
- 0:46Speaker 3: and my sister-in-law, Charlene. And then some years we are
- 0:49Speaker 3: with Eric's family. So maybe this year.
- 0:52Speaker 1: No plans as of now.
- 0:53Speaker 3: No plans. Somebody's got to take us in. I've never
- 0:55Speaker 3: hosted a Thanksgiving dinner.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Take Christine in. Text 44363.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Can you adopt Eric and me for the day?
- 1:02Speaker 1: Just two people. That's all you're asking, right? You and Eric.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Two people who can't really cook a turkey.
- 1:06Speaker 1: If you can take in two people, text us right now.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Wearing side dishes.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good trade-off.
- 1:11Speaker 3: I mean, it's something, and we do help clean up.
- 1:14Speaker 3: We're really good about that.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Again, text 44363, Christy and Eric looking for a place
- 1:19Speaker 2: to do Thanksgiving.
- 1:19Speaker 3: 85% of people now, this is the Butterball Turkey Hotline,
- 1:23Speaker 3: they're getting ready. They're telling us that 85% of people
- 1:27Speaker 3: do plan on celebrating Thanksgiving this year, which is good.
- 1:30Speaker 3: And we have a guest list that includes 10 people.
- 1:34Speaker 3: So hosts are saying... What's the most important thing you
- 1:38Speaker 3: can do if you're hosting as a guest? You can
- 1:41Speaker 3: help them clean up.
- 1:43Speaker 1: I was going to say, you mentioned one.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Yes, that is really all they want.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Don't get there too early, though.
- 1:47Speaker 2: You'll end up having to prep because I used to
- 1:49Speaker 2: arrive too early at a friend's house, and the wife
- 1:52Speaker 2: would put me to work.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I'd be vacuuming. Yeah, here's the vacuum. Yeah. She'd make
- 1:56Speaker 1: me vacuum, and that's no joke. It would be like,
- 1:59Speaker 1: 1 o'clock, get there. And I'd get there at noon.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I was always too early.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Oh, that was super early.
- 2:03Speaker 2: I was coming from Jersey, and they lived in Westchester,
- 2:06Speaker 2: and I knew I'd have to battle Thanksgiving Day parade
- 2:09Speaker 2: traffic and just overall, you know.
- 2:11Speaker 3: You couldn't kill time at like a Dunkin' Donuts or something?
- 2:14Speaker 1: I probably should have, right? I'm always running early when
- 2:17Speaker 1: I go there, and yeah.
- 2:19Speaker 3: I guess they were used to you at that point.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. It was already plugged in, the vacuum. Just
- 2:23Speaker 1: go to work.
- 2:24Speaker 3: So, yep, we're averaging 10 people this year. Prices are high,
- 2:29Speaker 3: but we still, of course, plan to celebrate, which is
- 2:30Speaker 3: good news. A lot of cooking, cleaning, and kitchen time
- 2:33Speaker 3: for the hosts. So that's why hosts say what they
- 2:36Speaker 3: would like more than anything is just for you to
- 2:38Speaker 3: help them clean up afterwards. When the majority of guests
- 2:41Speaker 3: pitch in, only 38% actually ask for the help that
- 2:46Speaker 3: they need. So volunteer. Oh, right.
- 2:49Speaker 1: They say, no, don't worry about the table.
- 2:50Speaker 3: I got it.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Just do it.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Just, yeah, worry about the table.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Don't go to the sofa with your hand down your
- 2:54Speaker 2: pants and the remote control with the Detroit Lions game on.
- 2:57Speaker 1: That's what I usually do.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Really appealing. Nearly two-thirds say they would love cleanup to
- 3:01Speaker 3: be as simple as pushing a button, but of course
- 3:03Speaker 3: that doesn't exist. Turkey is still the star of the meal.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Eighty-four percent of hosts plan to serve the turkey, and
- 3:10Speaker 3: 20 percent say they're buying a fresh one. You know,
- 3:12Speaker 3: I saw a guy yesterday in Stop and Shop, and
- 3:14Speaker 3: he had one thing in his hand. It wasn't even
- 3:16Speaker 3: in the cart. It was in his hand, and it
- 3:18Speaker 3: was a frozen turkey.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Hey, it's not too early. Wow. As long as it's frozen,
- 3:22Speaker 1: you're fine, right?
- 3:23Speaker 3: I mean.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I wonder if you can get a good deal on
- 3:24Speaker 1: turkeys now because we're so far ahead.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Yeah. He's planning ahead or they're making turkey dinner this weekend.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Who knows what people say they're looking forward to the
- 3:32Speaker 3: most at Thanksgiving. Spending time with family, followed by the
- 3:36Speaker 3: food and then the relaxation. And yes, the Butterball Turkey
- 3:40Speaker 3: Talk Line is what they're calling it, will be back
- 3:43Speaker 3: for their 45th year. So free Thanksgiving support for anyone
- 3:48Speaker 3: who needs it. They have professionally trained turkey experts ready
- 3:51Speaker 3: to take our calls, 1-800-Butterball, as well as through Butterball.com
- 3:55Speaker 3: and on social media.
- 3:57Speaker 1: What happens if you call now? Hey, we're not ready.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Was that guy in Stop and Shop too early? Yeah.
- 4:05Speaker 1: All right. Again, text us.
- 4:07Speaker 2: We need a Thanksgiving location for Christine and Eric.
- 4:11Speaker 1: 44363. Watch us be the biggest texting we get all
- 4:14Speaker 1: day long.
- 4:15Speaker 3: It would be nice.
- 4:16Speaker 1: You're loved, Christine.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 4:17Speaker 1: They're going to want you over. That would feel good.
- 4:18Speaker 1: And she'll clean up.
