- 0:48Speaker 1: seven oh seven. Here's your host, Alex Garrett. All right
- 0:57Speaker 1: on One leg Up on News to start twenty twenty five.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Here's where we're at in this moment one thirty nine
- 1:04Speaker 1: January second, twenty twenty five. According to Superintendent in New
- 1:09Speaker 1: Orleans and Kirkpatrick, Bourbon Street's about to be open to
- 1:14Speaker 1: the public as of one thirty nine Eastern Remember the
- 1:19Speaker 1: Sugar Bowl had to be postponed till today, which I
- 1:23Speaker 1: am in full support of. I mean, New Orleans just
- 1:27Speaker 1: underwent a tragedy and some people thought football should still
- 1:30Speaker 1: go on while lives were killed by a terrorist. How
- 1:35Speaker 1: insensitive did yesterday's show some of the sports world. You
- 1:40Speaker 1: want the Sugar Bowl to go on when there could
- 1:42Speaker 1: be explosives in the Superdome or around it. You want
- 1:46Speaker 1: the Super Bowl, the Sugar Bowl to go on between
- 1:49Speaker 1: Notre Dame and Georgia when we have tragedy on our hands. No.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I thought the teams handled it very well, by the way,
- 2:00Speaker 1: and they were telling their prayers and thoughts with the
- 2:02Speaker 1: fifteen killed by this maniac. And there has been a
- 2:10Speaker 1: lot of one leg up on news by these outlets.
- 2:14Speaker 1: To continuously feverishly supply us with information as they found
- 2:19Speaker 1: it and report on it with such fast work has
- 2:24Speaker 1: been impressive, and I wanted to wait till we got
- 2:31Speaker 1: more facts before I came on and talked. But what
- 2:35Speaker 1: I'm about to play you from An Kirkpatrick, the superintendent
- 2:39Speaker 1: and in the New Orleans Police Department chief is so
- 2:44Speaker 1: moving it should rally the spirits of New Orleans of
- 2:52Speaker 1: tours in New Orleans who are just trying to enjoy
- 2:58Speaker 1: their New Year's week. I'll get to that clip in
- 3:02Speaker 1: a minute, but you know what, the real one leg
- 3:05Speaker 1: up on news and I haven't had a chance to
- 3:09Speaker 1: shout it out yet, but I want to turn you
- 3:14Speaker 1: to one. Jenny tare T a E R. Jenny s.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Tair on X, who was a New York Post Texas reporter,
- 3:27Speaker 1: said this yesterday at four twenty nine pm. She posts,
- 3:34Speaker 1: the FBI didn't show up to the NOLA suspects address
- 3:37Speaker 1: until one pm today. We were on the scene before
- 3:42Speaker 1: no one came out of the home or answered the door.
- 3:45Speaker 1: This was a quote tweet of FBI Houston, who said,
- 3:49Speaker 1: the FBI Houston and the Harrison County Sheriff's Office are
- 3:52Speaker 1: currently conducting law enforcement activity near the intersection of Hugh
- 3:55Speaker 1: Road and Crescent Peak Drive, securing a perim in the area,
- 4:00Speaker 1: and they're asking people to avoid the area because they
- 4:04Speaker 1: believe they had some homemade plant bombs to detonate in
- 4:10Speaker 1: this maniacs home. So did Jenny s Taire You have
- 4:15Speaker 1: one leg up on news to start twenty twenty five
- 4:18Speaker 1: because you were there even before the FBI got there,
- 4:21Speaker 1: and that is journalism that is getting the scoop and
- 4:26Speaker 1: being prepared in Houston, Texas. So kudos to you for
- 4:32Speaker 1: being on the scene. And honestly, I'm sorry anybody had
- 4:36Speaker 1: to be on the scene. This tragedy should not have happened,
- 4:47Speaker 1: because firstly, where was the FBI on this? Weren't there
- 4:56Speaker 1: tips that something was going to happen. Weren't there tips
- 4:59Speaker 1: that they was about to have an explosion in front
- 5:02Speaker 1: of the Trump Hotel in Vegas? Weren't there? One has
- 5:07Speaker 1: to ask ourselves, I'm sorry it got to this point
- 5:13Speaker 1: where we're now mourning and others who have been gravely
- 5:17Speaker 1: injured by this, because I feel like for families of
- 5:24Speaker 1: fifteen innocent lives, well really fourteen, because they've actually counted
- 5:34Speaker 1: the fifteenth as the suspect who got killed in a
- 5:38Speaker 1: shootout with police, that this even had to happen. We
- 5:51Speaker 1: applaud the FBI when a terror plot on election day
- 5:56Speaker 1: is foiled, but it's also hold them accountable for when
- 6:03Speaker 1: plots are completely missed, or background checks are not thoroughly done,
- 6:10Speaker 1: or videos of the suspect driving to Louisiana are not
- 6:14Speaker 1: really vetted. It could have been handled way better. As
- 6:19Speaker 1: Senator Marshall Blackburn said, it tells you all you need
- 6:22Speaker 1: to know about this FBI. This is the same FBI,
- 6:25Speaker 1: by the way that when Mangioni's mother said, Hey, I
- 6:29Speaker 1: think he's gonna do something to that CEO Brian Thompson,
- 6:34Speaker 1: and they didn't do anything about it. It feels like
- 6:37Speaker 1: it's the same FBI that drops the ball. And while
- 6:41Speaker 1: it prevents one tragedy, the minute it slips through the cracks,
- 6:46Speaker 1: this happens fourteen or dead. They should be the ones
- 6:53Speaker 1: we wore, not the fifteen. Because one is the suspect.
- 6:57Speaker 1: He should not be mourned. Think of it that way.
- 7:01Speaker 1: He should not be mourned. And the isis component makes
- 7:06Speaker 1: you wonder if there are terror cells in New Orleans,
- 7:14Speaker 1: which I think they were thinking there were, and if
- 7:17Speaker 1: there are active cells that need to be shut down
- 7:19Speaker 1: right away, and maybe it does take a change in
- 7:27Speaker 1: present to make that happen. But I'll get off my
- 7:32Speaker 1: soapbox because I truly want to say this podcast is
- 7:36Speaker 1: dedicated to those who have had one leg up on news,
- 7:38Speaker 1: Kyle Becker, Jenny Taire, who have been really getting the
- 7:44Speaker 1: truth out. They're getting us on the scene on the
- 7:47Speaker 1: ground with real facts and trustworthy information better than those
- 8:00Speaker 1: we call the mainstream media. That's why independent journalists have that.
- 8:06Speaker 1: And yes New York Post, she's a journalist with the Post,
- 8:09Speaker 1: but she's an journalist in my view. If you got
- 8:11Speaker 1: there before the FBI, that's great reporting on your own work,
- 8:16Speaker 1: on your own due diligence. We need the independent voices
- 8:22Speaker 1: to have one leg up in twenty twenty five when
- 8:25Speaker 1: it comes to these major news breaking horror stories, because
- 8:34Speaker 1: the independence are the ones that are gonna tell us
- 8:39Speaker 1: the truth and nothing but the truth. Prayer to the
- 8:45Speaker 1: families of those who have been killed by a terrorist
- 8:49Speaker 1: attack and to the local police that are stepping up
- 8:57Speaker 1: their game to try and get New Orleans backing up
- 9:02Speaker 1: and running in safely. So like Superintendent and Kirkpatrick who
- 9:09Speaker 1: ended her press conference today with this, Yes, this city
- 9:14Speaker 1: is amazing. This city is known for its resiliency. This
- 9:18Speaker 1: is a city that is still impacted from twenty years
- 9:22Speaker 1: ago with Hurricane Katrina. This city knows paying, but this
- 9:29Speaker 1: city also knows how to recover. And they were waiting
- 9:33Speaker 1: for recovery and you can recover and not ever forget
- 9:38Speaker 1: the scar. How moving is that? How inspiration was that?
- 9:44Speaker 1: How rallying is that? It sounds a hell of a
- 9:47Speaker 1: lot better than the governor going out to dinner when
- 9:51Speaker 1: his city is mourning tragedy and they had a big
- 9:55Speaker 1: old smile on his face? Did the Louisiana governor for what?
- 10:00Speaker 1: And now? The best healing is of Irish fans and yes,
- 10:04Speaker 1: Georgia fans who go to the game that I'm sure traumatized,
- 10:08Speaker 1: but who go to the game today are treated to
- 10:11Speaker 1: a really damn good Texas versus Arizona State like game.
- 10:17Speaker 1: How cool would that be as a way to bring
- 10:21Speaker 1: the fan bases and excitement together through tragedy and to
- 10:26Speaker 1: really bring New Orleans together in tragedy
