- 0:11Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to episode fifty one of Ravellio for
- 0:15Speaker 1: August twentieth, twenty twenty six. I'm Amy and today I'm
- 0:31Speaker 1: joined by special guest Carolyn. Hello, Carolyn is back back
- 0:39Speaker 1: for another go around.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Yeah, no, curse Child's time right.
- 0:45Speaker 1: No, Unfortunately Nicole is off this week, but she will
- 0:50Speaker 1: be back next episode. And next episode we'll be talking
- 0:54Speaker 1: all about the Back to Hogwarts showcase, so she'll be
- 0:57Speaker 1: back in time for since in this episode we'll be
- 1:03Speaker 1: discussing the Hogwarts Castle grounds. But first.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Listening to w WN, the Wizarding Wireless Network.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Now for the latest headlines. All right, we do have
- 1:19Speaker 1: a little bit of news this episode. I feel like
- 1:21Speaker 1: we're like slowly ramping up to that Back to Hogwarts.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Last episode we had a little more this episode, we
- 1:27Speaker 1: have a little more.
- 1:28Speaker 2: More stuff leaking out about the show. Yeah, it's happening.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Things are happening. So first up, we have a date
- 1:39Speaker 1: for the opening of the largest Harry Potter store ever,
- 1:43Speaker 1: which is opening on Oxford Street in London on November
- 1:47Speaker 1: fourth of twenty twenty six. There are some really cool
- 1:52Speaker 1: features that will be inside the store, including a gigantic
- 1:55Speaker 1: Ukrainian Ironbelly, which is set to be the centerpiece over
- 2:00Speaker 1: Gringot section of the store. A full size replica of
- 2:05Speaker 1: the Night Bus will be in there, and a Leaky
- 2:09Speaker 1: Cauldron food and beverage experience where fans can get their
- 2:13Speaker 1: butter beer in regular, hot, and frozen varieties.
- 2:17Speaker 2: I'm excited to see how that My only experience with
- 2:20Speaker 2: the store is the Chicago store. That's the one I'm
- 2:23Speaker 2: closest to, and the butter beer like cafe side is
- 2:28Speaker 2: so cool when you walk in, and I think this
- 2:31Speaker 2: has probably been discussed and it's all over, I'm sure,
- 2:34Speaker 2: but I feel like they're different, right, Like the New
- 2:35Speaker 2: York one has a unique look to the Chicago one.
- 2:37Speaker 2: I know they have unique butter beer like logos that
- 2:41Speaker 2: go with each store too. Yeah, but so it'll be
- 2:46Speaker 2: interesting to see one how much bigger this one is
- 2:49Speaker 2: compared to, just given the extra retail space, and to
- 2:52Speaker 2: what they do to make this one unique. Yeah, and
- 2:55Speaker 2: the other two.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I do love that each of these has like its
- 2:58Speaker 1: own theme in kind of its own like logos and emblems.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I think that's really cool.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Yeah, my favorite is still the Chicago one though right now, Well,
- 3:13Speaker 2: let me know when you come.
- 3:14Speaker 1: All right, sounds like a plant. So there's also going
- 3:20Speaker 1: to be an exclusive wand that's sold at this shop location,
- 3:24Speaker 1: which is yes, of course. So the wand is said
- 3:28Speaker 1: to be a diagon Alley themed wand, So not sure
- 3:33Speaker 1: what that looks like.
- 3:34Speaker 2: But are these the stores are connected to like Universal
- 3:40Speaker 2: and stuff, aren't they? Or no, we don't know that
- 3:43Speaker 2: for sure.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Uh no, So the stores are more like the Warner
- 3:49Speaker 1: Brothers side of things.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Okay, because I mean it's a lot of this, there
- 3:54Speaker 2: ends up being a lot of the same. I mean
- 3:57Speaker 2: there's always unique swags. Yeah, But like I do feel
- 4:00Speaker 2: like certain things you can find at the Harry Potter
- 4:05Speaker 2: stores that you can also find in Universal is I
- 4:08Speaker 2: feel like the Unique Wands is a missed opportunity to
- 4:11Speaker 2: make interactive wands that people would pick up outside of
- 4:14Speaker 2: the park. That's all. That's kind of where I was
- 4:16Speaker 2: going with that, because like my littlest absolutely loved the
- 4:20Speaker 2: Unique Chicago wand, which was that's the tri Wizard one,
- 4:25Speaker 2: or at least it was. Maybe they haven't changed it
- 4:28Speaker 2: that I know of, so we next new Universal new
- 4:32Speaker 2: Unique wands. She loved that wand thought it was the
- 4:39Speaker 2: coolest thing. Did buy the unique one for that Remember
- 4:43Speaker 2: that Harry Potter experienced the interactive one for the younger kids.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it was like it started in Chicago and
- 4:52Speaker 2: at play that's the one that one's unique Wand she
- 4:55Speaker 2: actually bought that one because that one was also a
- 4:58Speaker 2: cool unique one. But like if these worked at the
- 5:01Speaker 2: parks to boot, that would be so cool.
- 5:04Speaker 1: That would be really cool. I wonder, like what the
- 5:10Speaker 1: It's probably like a legalities thing, and like I'm sure
- 5:13Speaker 1: it is.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I just feel like it's a missed opportunity to up charge. Yeah,
- 5:18Speaker 2: as an option, like not all of them have to
- 5:21Speaker 2: be the you know, you could get the plane one,
- 5:23Speaker 2: or you could get the one that's gonna work when
- 5:25Speaker 2: you go to the park.
- 5:27Speaker 1: It'd be really cool. What would be even cooler as
- 5:29Speaker 1: if they could somehow like partnership and like Universal would
- 5:32Speaker 1: be willing to put their wand technology in the store
- 5:37Speaker 1: and have like wand.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Spots to cast even cool cooler, so cool.
- 5:43Speaker 1: So then our next bit of news is TV show related.
- 5:47Speaker 1: So English actor Nicholas Holt has been cast as Guildroy
- 5:52Speaker 1: Lockhart in the second season of the HBO Harry Potter
- 5:55Speaker 1: TV series. Holt is known for his roles in films
- 5:59Speaker 1: like Nasfaratu, Mad Max, Fury Road, and of course, for
- 6:04Speaker 1: his portrayal of Lex Luthor in the DC Universe films.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Hold also starred in The Great, for which he was
- 6:12Speaker 1: nominated for an Emmy and two Golden Globes. So he's
- 6:16Speaker 1: got quite the resume.
- 6:19Speaker 2: I kind of like this, Yeah, what's.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Your opinion on this? Because I feel like I haven't
- 6:23Speaker 1: seen enough of his work to even have an opinion.
- 6:27Speaker 1: So I'm just kind of sitting here like, well, I'll
- 6:29Speaker 1: see what it's like when it comes out.
- 6:31Speaker 2: So here's the thing. The ones you named are not
- 6:34Speaker 2: films that I really Lex Luthor is the one that
- 6:37Speaker 2: I remember that I've seen. I'm trying to pull Wait,
- 6:40Speaker 2: I'm gonna pull up his filmography real quick, because I
- 6:43Speaker 2: know i've seen him in other stuff.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I am dB.
- 6:49Speaker 2: I'm trying to think of, trying to remember if he's
- 6:51Speaker 2: the one I'm thinking of. There was one film that
- 6:53Speaker 2: I really enjoyed him in, if I'm right, and he
- 6:55Speaker 2: played a zombie in that one. Oh yeah, he Okay,
- 7:00Speaker 2: So there's a film called Warm Bodies that he was in.
- 7:03Speaker 2: He's a zombie that becomes not a zombie at the
- 7:08Speaker 2: end because he falls in love with a normal person.
- 7:10Speaker 2: It was a really weird comedy, you can dark party
- 7:14Speaker 2: kind of thing well in this that was the premise
- 7:17Speaker 2: of this one. It was a bit of a stretch
- 7:19Speaker 2: of a film, but it was really kind of funny.
- 7:23Speaker 2: I highly recommend you watch it. It's kind of a
- 7:25Speaker 2: weird one if you you know. And then so that one,
- 7:31Speaker 2: that's the one I was thinking of. He was also
- 7:33Speaker 2: in the X Men films. He dated Jennifer Lawrence for
- 7:37Speaker 2: a while because they were in those X Men First
- 7:41Speaker 2: Class together. I mean, I've seen him in a bunch
- 7:46Speaker 2: of things. A lot of things are superhero or weird related,
- 7:48Speaker 2: because my taste movies is weird. I loved his portrayal
- 7:52Speaker 2: of Lex Luthor, and I do think that he I
- 7:57Speaker 2: feel like this could be great. I mean, I liked
- 8:00Speaker 2: and with Branna as I liked him as Lockhart, but
- 8:07Speaker 2: it felt almost cartoon charactery, and I feel like I
- 8:13Speaker 2: feel like it could be a little less cart like.
- 8:15Speaker 2: I feel like it could be good, but little less.
- 8:17Speaker 2: I mean, I guess I don't know the tone of
- 8:18Speaker 2: the series yet, where they're going with it, and there's
- 8:21Speaker 2: a lot of humor in the series, and that's one
- 8:24Speaker 2: of those really ridiculous ones. But with Branna, I feel
- 8:30Speaker 2: like he knew he was ridiculous and he played that up.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Holt strikes me as the kind of actor who will
- 8:38Speaker 2: be equally ridiculous but believes it as like a real
- 8:43Speaker 2: serious knit, like like I like, because I don't think Lockhart,
- 8:49Speaker 2: like Lockhart doesn't know he's ridiculous serious about it, and so.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Brandna was more of like, I'm going to do this thing,
- 8:56Speaker 1: but wank wank is not funny.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Yeah, and it was almost like he was in on
- 9:01Speaker 2: the joke, which I think gives a very different, a
- 9:03Speaker 2: great vibe. I love Brannon.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Very funny, but yeah.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Very funny. But I feel like Holt will be like, no,
- 9:11Speaker 2: you know, I believe this and I'm ridiculous, you.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Know what I mean.
- 9:14Speaker 2: So, and if they get to movie five and they
- 9:19Speaker 2: actually put this in and he's there.
- 9:23Speaker 1: The hospital scene there so good.
- 9:26Speaker 2: I absolutely love that scene. I mean you kind of
- 9:29Speaker 2: need it. The problem to me with book five is
- 9:31Speaker 2: there's not enough of the humor and then when you
- 9:34Speaker 2: get it, because we have angsty teen and as the
- 9:38Speaker 2: mother of a teenager, I know that this is perfectly normal.
- 9:42Speaker 2: But I want the humor too.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I want the unrealistic. If I wanted it to
- 9:47Speaker 2: be a realistic teen experience, I'd go read a more
- 9:50Speaker 2: realistic novel. These people have wizards. They don't have to
- 9:53Speaker 2: be that realistic all the time, right, I get that
- 9:58Speaker 2: at home with teenagers.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Yeah, so it'll be interesting to see for sure.
- 10:06Speaker 2: In one way. Yeah, he's He's got a great filmography,
- 10:09Speaker 2: so I think it'll be good.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Yeah. They are getting a lot of good actors for
- 10:14Speaker 1: this series, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they do.
- 10:17Speaker 1: And I think once we see that first season, it'll
- 10:20Speaker 1: be easier to understand the direction.
- 10:23Speaker 2: And the adults have a low lift just like in
- 10:28Speaker 2: the movies. They're not in it as much as is
- 10:30Speaker 2: about children. So it's an easy thing for him to
- 10:35Speaker 2: do this and not have it consume his life, right.
- 10:41Speaker 2: I mean, I feel like the actors who are going
- 10:43Speaker 2: to have that happen to them are the McGonagall and
- 10:45Speaker 2: a couple of the main teachers, But most of them
- 10:47Speaker 2: are going to be able to just pop in and out.
- 10:49Speaker 2: And I am really excited for who they cast. A
- 10:51Speaker 2: snape though, I feel like, yeahs could be really cool.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. After the trailer, I was like, yes.
- 10:58Speaker 2: I kind of like where they're going with it.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to it so soon a
- 11:07Speaker 1: few months, all right? So our next it well, I
- 11:13Speaker 1: thought this was our final bit. No, just our next
- 11:15Speaker 1: bit of news.
- 11:18Speaker 2: You got a couple more here. I can see the doc.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't see the extra bullet points. So our
- 11:24Speaker 1: next bit of news is Tom Felton has announced a
- 11:28Speaker 1: final extension on his.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Untill the next final extent until the next final extension.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Yes, on his rin.
- 11:35Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I mean, I don't know not a lot
- 11:36Speaker 2: about Broadway, but that always feels like what happens, this
- 11:39Speaker 2: is my final tour down the road.
- 11:41Speaker 1: It's your last chance to see me.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Let me just give you let me can I rint
- 11:45Speaker 2: another check here? Tom, see if you go a little longer.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Oh gosh, yes, my joke.
- 11:52Speaker 2: But I really love that he's doing it.
- 11:53Speaker 1: I do too, and I think he loves it too.
- 11:57Speaker 1: But yes, this is supposedly the final extension on his
- 12:00Speaker 1: as Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter and the Curse Child
- 12:02Speaker 1: on Broadway. This extension has him in the role through
- 12:06Speaker 1: January third, twenty twenty seven, and yeah, I think he
- 12:11Speaker 1: loves doing this show and is just like living his
- 12:15Speaker 1: best life.
- 12:16Speaker 2: So I agree, I love I mean, it clearly was
- 12:21Speaker 2: a very formative part for him because he was an actor.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Maybe not a huge actor, but I remember seeing stuff
- 12:26Speaker 2: prior to Harry Potter and it was a formative role
- 12:32Speaker 2: for him. He clearly had fun doing it. I do.
- 12:36Speaker 2: I am not an actor. That is my child's department.
- 12:40Speaker 2: I think playing the villains can be more fun, though. Yeah,
- 12:44Speaker 2: so you get more, you get so, I feel like,
- 12:48Speaker 2: and then getting to play what this character you did
- 12:50Speaker 2: as a child becomes because you're the right age to
- 12:53Speaker 2: do it. Why not cool? Yeah, it is cool. Yeah,
- 12:59Speaker 2: I'm not surprised the extent ended it. I mean, I
- 13:01Speaker 2: feel like he probably would do it. I joke about
- 13:03Speaker 2: like it's just about the money, but like, I really
- 13:06Speaker 2: do think he loves it and would do it regardless.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Oh and he is such a nice you see it
- 13:12Speaker 2: when he comes to like the comment like I saw
- 13:14Speaker 2: it at the convention the one time I went to
- 13:16Speaker 2: leak econ and stuff, like, I mean, he clearly loves it.
- 13:19Speaker 2: He loves the fans, which is a great thing.
- 13:21Speaker 1: So oh yeah, yeah, and I didn't put this in
- 13:26Speaker 1: the dock, but I saw the Warwick Davies came to
- 13:30Speaker 1: the show. I think it was last night, and there
- 13:33Speaker 1: are some great pictures of him and Tom together, like
- 13:37Speaker 1: in the dressing room and like they had taken a
- 13:40Speaker 1: little pole the ride and they like dated it.
- 13:43Speaker 2: And it's so cute.
- 13:44Speaker 1: It labeled it Draco and Flitwick. It was cute, all right.
- 13:50Speaker 1: So our final bit of news is Hogwarts Legacy too
- 13:54Speaker 1: is confirmed to be actively in the works. And this
- 13:59Speaker 1: confirmation was a weird one because it came very quietly
- 14:02Speaker 1: in a WB earnings report, so there was no big
- 14:05Speaker 1: like Hogwart's Legacy two's happening announcement. It was like in
- 14:09Speaker 1: the earnings report. There's no other details beyond that it
- 14:13Speaker 1: is indeed.
- 14:15Speaker 2: I mean, this game was hugely popular for them.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Mm hm.
- 14:21Speaker 2: I am not surprised that they're going to make it two.
- 14:24Speaker 1: No, not at all.
- 14:25Speaker 2: I have finally started playing Hogwarts Legacy. I waited. I
- 14:32Speaker 2: waited way too long. I don't know. I only have
- 14:35Speaker 2: a switch people, yeah, same, So I had to wait first.
- 14:39Speaker 2: I had to wait for Switch, and then I saw
- 14:42Speaker 2: the graphics differences and went, this is not but I like,
- 14:50Speaker 2: I think. My only concern is and I have to
- 14:54Speaker 2: I have to do some more comparisons. I don't know
- 14:56Speaker 2: if I love and I don't know. If it's just
- 14:57Speaker 2: because of how they poureded it, they need to think.
- 15:00Speaker 2: And if it is because of how they pourted the
- 15:02Speaker 2: game over, then they need to seriously rethink the game
- 15:05Speaker 2: controls because they need to be working more fluidly on
- 15:08Speaker 2: every device. Now, I'm sure you're going to get a
- 15:10Speaker 2: bunch of comments from somebody who's played the game on
- 15:13Speaker 2: like PlayStation five and went, now, it's fine, You're just
- 15:15Speaker 2: it's your switch. Okay, I can see there was a
- 15:18Speaker 2: weird port there. But right now, as I'm playing and
- 15:22Speaker 2: I finally started playing this game, I'm going, why, why
- 15:26Speaker 2: isn't this It's not intuitive to anything I've ever played before,
- 15:30Speaker 2: and I've played Hogwarts. Legacy is very similar to me
- 15:34Speaker 2: to Zelda in that there are objectives, but it's very
- 15:38Speaker 2: open world, so you have a lot of freedom in
- 15:40Speaker 2: how you accomplish those tasks. M dude, the guys over
- 15:45Speaker 2: there at Avalanche Port Key Games, whoever, I don't care.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Go grab yourself a copy of Zelda Breath of the
- 15:52Speaker 2: While and Tears of the Kingdom. Look at how those
- 15:55Speaker 2: two are played. Please, I'm begging you. Okay, there's reason
- 16:00Speaker 2: that those games are insanely popular with fans of that series.
- 16:04Speaker 2: It's the graphics aren't even phenomenal. They're great, good like
- 16:08Speaker 2: they took it. They made an artistic choice. They said
- 16:11Speaker 2: this is how the world's gonna look. They committed to it.
- 16:13Speaker 2: I feel like with Harry Potter, they went with movies
- 16:18Speaker 2: are dark. We're gonna keep it dark, and we're gonna
- 16:22Speaker 2: have this pseudo realistic, but it's not gonna quite look
- 16:25Speaker 2: realistic enough. And I've seen PlayStation five games. In some
- 16:28Speaker 2: of these new switch Shoo games, they didn't commit enough
- 16:31Speaker 2: to the realism, and they didn't commit enough to the art,
- 16:34Speaker 2: like pick aside, it doesn't matter. And those are my
- 16:38Speaker 2: biggest complaints. Gameplay seems okay, though, storyline seems okay so far.
- 16:42Speaker 2: I'm enjoying playing, but I'm like, just if you're gonna
- 16:45Speaker 2: go realistic, go realistic, do your Resident Evil or whatever.
- 16:50Speaker 2: I'm trying to think of games that have that hyper
- 16:52Speaker 2: realistic look, or you pick an art style and it
- 16:56Speaker 2: doesn't have to look like you know what it feels
- 16:58Speaker 2: like to me those older do you remember the Potter
- 17:00Speaker 2: games that came out for each movie where they have
- 17:04Speaker 2: that slightly realistic but then there's still kind of block
- 17:07Speaker 2: not quite and they're like blocking movements. Yeah, I have
- 17:11Speaker 2: to look at how this game plays on like a PlayStation,
- 17:14Speaker 2: Like I'm sure there's screen grabs on YouTube or something
- 17:16Speaker 2: that is where I'm like, hmm, but I am excited
- 17:21Speaker 2: for two Yeah, and I am curious about what they're
- 17:23Speaker 2: going to do to the map.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Yes, I bet they will expand or add something, because
- 17:31Speaker 1: once you have kind of all of this already built.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Mm hmm, it's much.
- 17:36Speaker 2: That's what they did with the two Zelda games, is
- 17:39Speaker 2: that it's the same map and they built off of
- 17:41Speaker 2: what they already had. And Zelda is arguably a much
- 17:45Speaker 2: smaller game than average because Nintendo is known for keeping
- 17:51Speaker 2: things smaller. But one of the things when you go
- 17:54Speaker 2: online is this could fit all the maps of all
- 17:57Speaker 2: the different Zelda game, like if you were to lay
- 17:59Speaker 2: them all like something about I don't know, I feel
- 18:02Speaker 2: like it. So if they can do that, yeah, on
- 18:04Speaker 2: a switch, you can make an arguably amazing game for
- 18:08Speaker 2: any system. Right with a huge map, Right, that's got
- 18:13Speaker 2: plenty to see and do.
- 18:14Speaker 1: It'll be interesting to see what TOO looks like in
- 18:17Speaker 1: comparison to one, because I think once you've got it
- 18:21Speaker 1: all there, you can really improve.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Me not being much of a gamer outside of like
- 18:29Speaker 1: Animal Crossing and Dreamlin Valley, I was like looking at this, like, Wow,
- 18:34Speaker 1: these graphics are awesome.
- 18:37Speaker 2: I don't know. I think I'm also I don't need
- 18:40Speaker 2: the cinema aspect. It doesn't need to be super dark,
- 18:42Speaker 2: can you please? I don't I'm old. I can't see.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Can you make it lighter? I don't know.
- 18:49Speaker 1: I've always been.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Blind, even prior to like being old.
- 18:53Speaker 1: I love the looks like. I agree that the emotions
- 18:57Speaker 1: and the mouths moving are not as fluid as they
- 18:59Speaker 1: should be, but I do love I love the overall look.
- 19:04Speaker 1: I love like the clothing. I love how the hair
- 19:09Speaker 1: looks like. I think that looks really cool.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Well, I think they did a lot of it really well. Yeah,
- 19:14Speaker 2: I just said commit one way or the other. Yeah,
- 19:18Speaker 2: it just felt like they couldn't decide between artistic and realistic.
- 19:22Speaker 2: And I think that's my issue with the graphics. Pick aside,
- 19:24Speaker 2: I don't care which. It'll be interesting to see what
- 19:28Speaker 2: they do with the second story, but I have to
- 19:30Speaker 2: get through this one and see where we end. I
- 19:32Speaker 2: wonder if you're gonna be the same character or they're
- 19:34Speaker 2: gonna Yeah.
- 19:35Speaker 1: I wonder if it's going to be like the same timeline,
- 19:37Speaker 1: you know, yeah, Like is it going to jump forward?
- 19:40Speaker 1: Is it gonna go backward? Like where where are we
- 19:42Speaker 1: going to go?
- 19:43Speaker 2: I really hope they don't jump forward. You start getting
- 19:45Speaker 2: so close to what we already have, and I feel
- 19:48Speaker 2: like that's going to upset more people.
- 19:50Speaker 1: What works so well about it is that it's set
- 19:53Speaker 1: so far back in time, Like it's cool to see
- 19:55Speaker 1: Hogwarts in the Wizarding World in a different time period.
- 19:59Speaker 2: No connection to Grindlewald, Voldemort, Harry, any of those storylines
- 20:05Speaker 2: that you know. Yeah, so yeah, No, I feel like
- 20:07Speaker 2: that would be a foolish I mean, maybe they'll do it,
- 20:11Speaker 2: but I feel like that's a foolish idea because then
- 20:13Speaker 2: you start getting into well, why aren't these characters here,
- 20:15Speaker 2: Why aren't they the voices? Why does Snape all of
- 20:18Speaker 2: a sudden look like he's from the TV show not
- 20:20Speaker 2: the movie. This is wrong, you know what I mean? Like,
- 20:22Speaker 2: you're just gonna upset too many fans. I think, so
- 20:24Speaker 2: stay in areas of history where you can keep it exactly.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Maybe you got a name drop here and there, like
- 20:32Speaker 2: the Weasley drop. That was interesting. I wasn't expecting that,
- 20:35Speaker 2: And then I got to Hogwarts. I went, oh.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean it's okay. With success of the
- 20:40Speaker 1: first Hogwarts legacy shows that you can make something within
- 20:44Speaker 1: this world that has zero connection to the story that's
- 20:48Speaker 1: existing and people will still love it because it's that world. Yeah,
- 20:54Speaker 1: I agree, So hopefully they you know, they take from
- 20:59Speaker 1: that access. Uh.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Well, I've derailed this enough on the news, so okay,
- 21:09Speaker 2: I feel bad.
- 21:10Speaker 1: No, that was good though. That was a good discussion.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Well that's it for the news. The magic continues over

- 21:36Speaker 1: out more at patreon dot com slash Revellio podcast. Okay,
- 21:44Speaker 1: so our main discussion getting in the spirit of back
- 21:48Speaker 1: to Hogwarts season, we wanted to talk about Hogwarts. We
- 21:52Speaker 1: decided to talk about the Hogwarts grounds because there's a
- 21:56Speaker 1: lot there that I feel like we don't really get
- 21:59Speaker 1: to discuss very much, so buckle up. So the general layout,
- 22:09Speaker 1: we know that Hogwarts is situated on a cliff overlooking
- 22:12Speaker 1: the lake. It has front gate.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Ever pictured it on a cliff though, really, yeah, my
- 22:18Speaker 2: head picturing go ahead, I'm sorry, I don't want to.
- 22:21Speaker 2: I never pictured it on a cliff. I actually pictured
- 22:23Speaker 2: it very flat because of the Loch Lake. Oh yeah,
- 22:28Speaker 2: so I mean mountains around it. I always pictured like,
- 22:32Speaker 2: you know, nestled in to naturally protect it.
- 22:35Speaker 1: But okay, I always see the image from the first
- 22:39Speaker 1: film of Hogwarts, like looming.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Over the lake with the little boat. Yes, going that
- 22:45Speaker 2: did very much like skew my. But the way they
- 22:49Speaker 2: talk about going down to the lake in the books,
- 22:53Speaker 2: because there were no films when I started reading these,
- 22:56Speaker 2: you know, the fact that they would go hang out
- 22:59Speaker 2: by the lake, I always picture just kind of like
- 23:01Speaker 2: the front of the castle had this massive like lawn
- 23:04Speaker 2: area and it just led up to the lake because
- 23:08Speaker 2: the kids would go hang out there. So my mental
- 23:10Speaker 2: picture has never died with anything. Yeah, even I would
- 23:15Speaker 2: pulled up the map in your dock the other day
- 23:17Speaker 2: and I went This doesn't look right in my head either,
- 23:19Speaker 2: and that one was drawn by rolling.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, it's funny how that happens. We all picture
- 23:27Speaker 1: something different.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Can't please everyone.
- 23:32Speaker 1: But according to this map that was drawn by JKR,
- 23:38Speaker 1: the front of the castle is facing away from the lake,
- 23:43Speaker 1: so it's like the back of the castle that's kind
- 23:46Speaker 1: of over the lake on the cliffs. Right, the front
- 23:50Speaker 1: gates are flanked by winged bors, which I know we've
- 23:54Speaker 1: had references to that in the book.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Yeah, that's been many references to that. Yeah.
- 24:00Speaker 1: So there is a path that leads up the front
- 24:03Speaker 1: lawn to the castle entrance. The lawn itself surrounds the
- 24:08Speaker 1: castle on both sides, and on the sides it slopes
- 24:12Speaker 1: down to the lake on the right. So that would
- 24:17Speaker 1: presumably be how they like get down the lawn to
- 24:20Speaker 1: the lake to hang out by the water.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, if you kind of figure there had
- 24:24Speaker 2: to have been away. Yeah.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Yeah. Also on the right is the quidditch pitch, so
- 24:33Speaker 1: that's kind of off to the side, and then on
- 24:36Speaker 1: the left the lawn leads to the edge of the
- 24:39Speaker 1: Forbidden Forest.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Right. Yeah, this is different than I pictured it in
- 24:47Speaker 2: my head. I was pictured the quidditch pitch a little
- 24:49Speaker 2: further away, though. I do like the idea that the
- 24:52Speaker 2: quidditch pitches in between where it is, just because I
- 24:59Speaker 2: like to think of more people visiting, like you know,
- 25:03Speaker 2: like going to see a high school game kind of.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Thing, right, like hogs Meat coming.
- 25:07Speaker 2: To watch the games and stuff.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Yeah, which, according to the map, Hogsmeat is like right
- 25:15Speaker 1: kind of outside the front gates of.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Hoggs It's like right there. I don't I don't think
- 25:19Speaker 2: I pictured it quite right there.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:21Speaker 2: She just was like, I don't have room, So I'm
- 25:23Speaker 2: just going to make this for whoever she was making
- 25:26Speaker 2: it for, to kind of plan it out.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Yeah, but yeah, Hogsmead. I guess if you're traveling from
- 25:31Speaker 1: Hogsmead you would kind of go through that road in
- 25:34Speaker 1: the front gate. There could be that.
- 25:38Speaker 2: It's a movie ism that's stuck in my head too,
- 25:39Speaker 2: that it takes longer to get to Hogsmead.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Yeah, it's got to be nearby if they're they're walking
- 25:47Speaker 1: there for their Hogsmeade weekends, right.
- 25:51Speaker 2: I think they do, don't think most time they walk.
- 25:53Speaker 2: It's not like they're taking carriages over there, right, So
- 25:57Speaker 2: it must actually be closer than we realize.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Yeah, because I always picture it really far away too,
- 26:02Speaker 1: which I think, speaking of Hogwarts Legacy, that probably doesn't
- 26:08Speaker 1: help because it feels like you're walking forever to get
- 26:10Speaker 1: to Hogsmeade from Hogwarts in that case.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Wait, but even the zoom in there's like a boat
- 26:15Speaker 2: like the map in Hogwarts Legacy, and I'm not very
- 26:17Speaker 2: far so I don't have much map yet, but like
- 26:20Speaker 2: the map for Hogwarts, there's like the boat house is
- 26:22Speaker 2: like on the water. Yeah, like out in the middle
- 26:26Speaker 2: of the lake. Like there's a difference that I'm like
- 26:28Speaker 2: in terms of the games, Like that's not in any
- 26:31Speaker 2: of the films that way, That's not how I again,
- 26:33Speaker 2: I would picture the boat house being near the can
- 26:38Speaker 2: you think of like do you I don't know what
- 26:40Speaker 2: you're looking.
- 26:41Speaker 1: I don't even see the boat house on this map.
- 26:45Speaker 1: So maybe this was drawn before the need of the boat.
- 26:50Speaker 2: But the boat house doesn't exist until book seven. Right
- 26:53Speaker 2: when you think about it, that's the first time you
- 26:55Speaker 2: ever hear about Like it's not like they're like, we're
- 26:57Speaker 2: going to the boat house, right, you know, it's like Mermaids.
- 27:00Speaker 2: It's like Mermaids in book four, you know, all of
- 27:03Speaker 2: a sudden there's mermaids, which why would you want to
- 27:10Speaker 2: be in that land? How did they get in there?
- 27:12Speaker 2: If it's there's no way in or out? This is
- 27:14Speaker 2: it's a it's Scotland, it's locked landlocked. How the how
- 27:19Speaker 2: did they even get there? These are all the questions.
- 27:24Speaker 1: I don't know. The castle, yes, very strange, so kind
- 27:36Speaker 1: of exploring the grounds a little bit. We know that
- 27:40Speaker 1: the green houses are pretty much right next to the castle.
- 27:48Speaker 1: If you're looking at the castle, like facing the front entrance,
- 27:51Speaker 1: it's on the left side, kind of between the castle
- 27:54Speaker 1: and the forest right so that's where they have their
- 28:01Speaker 1: herbology lessons. But there's also like a vegetable patch right
- 28:06Speaker 1: next to them, which I assume this is probably where
- 28:10Speaker 1: they grow food for like students and staff to actually
- 28:13Speaker 1: eat at this castle.
- 28:15Speaker 2: I think they do. I mean, we don't know exactly
- 28:18Speaker 2: how many people are in Hogwarts at any given time
- 28:20Speaker 2: you need to feed, so is it even big enough?
- 28:23Speaker 2: But then not magic? So you know, right, I like
- 28:28Speaker 2: that you can basically you could probably see Hagrid's hut
- 28:31Speaker 2: from the castle too, Like greenhouses are right there. I
- 28:35Speaker 2: feel like Hagrid would probably be tending more of that
- 28:38Speaker 2: garden than Sprout would be, at least in terms of
- 28:42Speaker 2: the food. Yeah side of things, Like, I don't think
- 28:46Speaker 2: Sprout's doing nothing. She clearly has a greathe thumb. But like,
- 28:49Speaker 2: I feel like Haggard would have been responsible for it,
- 28:51Speaker 2: because we know he grows the pumpkins for how so
- 28:55Speaker 2: it wouldn't surprise me if he's doing more of the
- 28:57Speaker 2: other growing.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Than the.
- 29:01Speaker 2: So it does make sense of these clothes. I never
- 29:03Speaker 2: liked that movie. Asn't either. I feel like, why did
- 29:05Speaker 2: they have to Why is Hagrid's hut magically become so
- 29:09Speaker 2: far away? He's a groundskeeper, he needs to be close.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Right, because the cinema of.
- 29:17Speaker 2: That path, I'm gonna make faces. You can't see me
- 29:24Speaker 2: people making faces.
- 29:25Speaker 1: I don't like it, Carolyn's not about the cinematic element.
- 29:31Speaker 2: I'm not about the darkness either. Why does everything have
- 29:34Speaker 2: to be so dark?
- 29:34Speaker 1: Please?
- 29:35Speaker 2: This is the thing. It's in more movies than just Potter.
- 29:37Speaker 2: I'm done? Can we not? I can I be able
- 29:40Speaker 2: to see what I'm watching a movie?
- 29:44Speaker 1: Oh gosh? So the womping willow is also like situated
- 29:51Speaker 1: pretty near the greenhouses. It looks like kind of on
- 29:54Speaker 1: the patchlon between the greenhouses and Hagri's hut.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Okay, I don't know. I mean, isn't the the womping
- 30:04Speaker 2: willow hides a path too, because that's how where's that house?
- 30:13Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Like the shrieking shack because
- 30:16Speaker 2: you're going to hog you're going to hogs meet with that.
- 30:20Speaker 2: And there's other passages. There's like the witch in the
- 30:22Speaker 2: castle and stuff like that that like, okay, but.
- 30:27Speaker 1: It's got to be a pretty long path, right, It's
- 30:29Speaker 1: got to be.
- 30:30Speaker 2: A pretty long path. Well, I mean, but like I said,
- 30:31Speaker 2: there's also the one I the one i'd witch the
- 30:34Speaker 2: hump that Harry comes through too. So no matter what,
- 30:37Speaker 2: these are long paths. But that's got to mean that
- 30:40Speaker 2: hogwarts and hogs meet are pretty close together too, because
- 30:43Speaker 2: it's still a lot, even magically to dig those passages,
- 30:47Speaker 2: right and the one I mean, I think my only
- 30:50Speaker 2: issue with the location of the womping Willow is I
- 30:52Speaker 2: would think it would be on the side closer to hogsmeat.
- 30:59Speaker 2: But I guess it's doesn't really matter when you think
- 31:01Speaker 2: about where some of the other passages are true true.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Because the castle's farther away than the tree.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, so I don't know, but I would have
- 31:12Speaker 2: thought it would have been on the side by that.
- 31:15Speaker 1: I don't know that would make sense. So a little
- 31:19Speaker 1: bit about the tree. We know it was planted in
- 31:21Speaker 1: nineteen seventy one to hide the opening of the tunnel
- 31:25Speaker 1: leading to the Shrieking Shack, to give Remus Lupin a
- 31:28Speaker 1: safe place to transform during the full moon. It's a
- 31:33Speaker 1: sentient tree, and from Snape's reactions when Ron and Harry
- 31:39Speaker 1: crash into it in book two, is probably pretty rare,
- 31:44Speaker 1: I would think, because he seems quite concerned about this tree.
- 31:50Speaker 2: I think he's just looking for an excuse to yell
- 31:52Speaker 2: at Ron and Harry, so it becomes very rare and very.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Make more point earned about the tree than he is
- 32:01Speaker 1: about the two kids.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Yeah, and I don't think I mean, unless you're taking
- 32:06Speaker 2: an acid that thing, and good luck taking an axe
- 32:08Speaker 2: to a womping willow. I don't see it being It
- 32:11Speaker 2: feels like a tree that can defend itself.
- 32:13Speaker 1: I think you'd be smashed to smitheries.
- 32:15Speaker 2: But yeah, Also in the film, there's like never any
- 32:20Speaker 2: leaves on that tree.
- 32:21Speaker 1: It feels like, yeah, maybe because it's always waving its
- 32:27Speaker 1: branches around, so they all fall off.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Those are some really weak leaves. Then if it can
- 32:34Speaker 2: just shake itself and like get all the leaves off,
- 32:37Speaker 2: I mean it's not that time of year. Well they
- 32:39Speaker 2: did do that a little bit in the third movie. Yeah,
- 32:41Speaker 2: see it like ohh and then it shakes off more humorously.
- 32:44Speaker 1: But I feel I was gonna say movie three, Movie three,
- 32:48Speaker 1: we see it with the leaves.
- 32:49Speaker 2: But yeah, movie two, though, that thing is a dead
- 32:52Speaker 2: tree basically really in this and that's only September.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Yeah, like it shouldn't have lost.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Yeah, not really enough, just saying interesting, very interesting.
- 33:10Speaker 1: So then Hagrid's hut, we know it's situated on the
- 33:14Speaker 1: edge of the forest, and Hagrid also has his little
- 33:17Speaker 1: pumpkin patch by his hut, so.
- 33:23Speaker 2: I wonder if he's growing more than just I mean
- 33:25Speaker 2: I always got the pumpkin patch, but I wonder if
- 33:26Speaker 2: that's more of a like a garden version too, like
- 33:29Speaker 2: they got extra stuff. Really. Yeah, that's another one where
- 33:35Speaker 2: I just I've never pictured it the way they portray
- 33:38Speaker 2: it in any of the films in terms of location.
- 33:43Speaker 2: I know the movie the movie really made it like
- 33:45Speaker 2: all kind of crazy. Is how you get there? But
- 33:46Speaker 2: I always just kind of pictured it. It's just like
- 33:48Speaker 2: this big I guess I just always pictured a big
- 33:51Speaker 2: open lawn that opened up into the lake off to
- 33:53Speaker 2: the side. Yeah, because I did feel like the back
- 33:56Speaker 2: of the thing was more cliff based and what Yeah,
- 34:00Speaker 2: maybe it like slopes down because they do take the
- 34:03Speaker 2: Like it's not like I didn't have. But I always
- 34:05Speaker 2: kind of just pictured a big, open and bright and
- 34:08Speaker 2: like mountains to block everything in. But like, yeah, it's
- 34:13Speaker 2: just a very different image in my head.
- 34:15Speaker 1: I know he's always right by the forest, but you
- 34:18Speaker 1: can't tell me Hagrid walks off that huge winding path
- 34:21Speaker 1: every single day to go do his duties at Hogwarts,
- 34:25Speaker 1: Like no, it's too far, too far.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Also, what entails his ground's duties? Right? Because the ground
- 34:33Speaker 2: seems massive right the way they portray it in the films,
- 34:39Speaker 2: like insanely massive. How you're into the school, there's like
- 34:44Speaker 2: no greenery.
- 34:47Speaker 1: How does he mow the lawn.
- 34:51Speaker 2: With his umbrella?
- 34:54Speaker 1: Like it's gotta be a spell. He uses his umbrella right.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Put yell a little like a little mow the lawn,
- 34:59Speaker 2: Like yeah, the lone stuff.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Because an actual lawnmower wouldn't work at Hogwarts.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Nope, electronics, and he's.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Not gonna go pushing around one of those old fashioned ones.
- 35:14Speaker 1: This is a massive.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Land magical groundkeeping duties.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Yeah, like does he have to?
- 35:23Speaker 2: I mean, he's just That's part of why I think
- 35:25Speaker 2: Hagrid stays at the castle, to be honest, because it's
- 35:28Speaker 2: like he's far enough away that he could basically be like, well,
- 35:30Speaker 2: I'm just gonna do my magic.
- 35:32Speaker 1: What I know pretty much?
- 35:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't care, you snapped, Miwand.
- 35:40Speaker 1: So speaking of Hagrid's duties, like a lot of that
- 35:42Speaker 1: happens in the Forbidden Forest, it seems, which is right
- 35:47Speaker 1: near his hut.
- 35:49Speaker 2: I mean, in a lot of ways, he wasn't a
- 35:51Speaker 2: great teacher, but he made a good care of magical
- 35:54Speaker 2: Creature's teacher just because he probably had to deal with
- 35:57Speaker 2: everything in that forest. Probably knew more about the preachers
- 36:00Speaker 2: than anyone else they could have hired, right except for maybe.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Yeah, like we know that there's the Festal herd in there,
- 36:12Speaker 1: which they used to pull the carriages. Yeah, we know
- 36:17Speaker 1: the centaurs are there. We know ragg and all the
- 36:22Speaker 1: Acromanchelas are there.
- 36:23Speaker 2: Which is Hagrid's fault. Those are there because of him.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Thanks a lot for that, Hagrid. Thank you, Hagrid, Thank
- 36:30Speaker 1: you for creating giant giant spider colony.
- 36:36Speaker 2: The giant though he's got a giant.
- 36:38Speaker 1: They is in there, Unicorns, ORNs.
- 36:43Speaker 2: I assume, other small nargly nargyls and fairies and such.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Bow truckles probably.
- 36:52Speaker 2: Bow truckles probably.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:53Speaker 2: There's a lot of stuff in that forbidden forest and
- 36:55Speaker 2: a lot of things that can kill you.
- 36:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, it makes sense that is forbidden.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Where else are you going to put magical creatures in Britain? Right?
- 37:05Speaker 2: So that they don't harm muggles? That's the other thing. Like,
- 37:08Speaker 2: it's a security nightmare for the students. But they are
- 37:10Speaker 2: wizards and they can learn to defend themselves. But if
- 37:13Speaker 2: you put that forest near muggles, they're all going to die.
- 37:18Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, Like where else do you put them so
- 37:22Speaker 2: that the creatures are safe and the people. You don't
- 37:27Speaker 2: have many options, many options, So I guess outside of
- 37:30Speaker 2: magical school probably your best option.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Yeah. So we do know that the forest has a
- 37:38Speaker 1: pretty large expanse, and it's not all necessarily on Hogwarts grounds.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Since Bartikrausch was able to enter the forest and walk
- 37:48Speaker 1: on foot to access the grounds and gobblet of fire.
- 37:52Speaker 1: So he presumably entered somewhere else outside of the grounds.
- 38:00Speaker 2: And I don't picture a like a fence really or
- 38:04Speaker 2: covering all the grounds. I feel like they would use
- 38:07Speaker 2: natural barriers wherever possible. Right, And we know the marauders
- 38:11Speaker 2: made the map, but they didn't necessarily know how far
- 38:15Speaker 2: everything went, so their map has to stop somewhere mm hm.
- 38:21Speaker 2: So realistically, you could have gotten through if you have
- 38:26Speaker 2: even the tiniest of inclination of where to try without
- 38:31Speaker 2: people seeing you.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Yeah, right, And I mean according to the map that
- 38:37Speaker 1: we have, he could have entered somewhere outside of Hogsmeeads
- 38:42Speaker 1: so that like no one in the village could see it.
- 38:45Speaker 2: Yep. And we don't know who knew about all those passages.
- 38:50Speaker 2: We know the marauders found them, we don't know how
- 38:54Speaker 2: many people knew about all of those things or them
- 39:00Speaker 2: out over the years. So Barty could have known about
- 39:04Speaker 2: even the one in like zon gooes, right, that's the
- 39:08Speaker 2: right one, that's the right shops hogs meat.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Yeah. So when I was trying to find some more
- 39:14Speaker 1: information on the forest, I found a little bit about
- 39:17Speaker 1: its possible origins, so it likely originated around the nineteenth century,
- 39:25Speaker 1: and according to the Wizarding Examination Authorities Wombat test, if
- 39:31Speaker 1: you remember this from J. K.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Romer it existing, I don't. I never took it.
- 39:37Speaker 1: I took it and I got exceeds expectations. I remember
- 39:40Speaker 1: I had my little certificate.
- 39:42Speaker 2: I think, I think you had to enter that at
- 39:44Speaker 2: a certain time, and I missed it. It was like
- 39:47Speaker 2: very specific stuff, and I was never as big of
- 39:49Speaker 2: a fan as I was. I was never on top
- 39:51Speaker 2: of that.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Yeah. But anyway, according to that, the forest likely started
- 39:58Speaker 1: as a small wood tended to by the centaurs before
- 40:01Speaker 1: it grew into the great forest that we know from
- 40:04Speaker 1: the nineties. So that's kind of interesting that like the
- 40:07Speaker 1: centaurs kind of tended to the forest and built it
- 40:11Speaker 1: into the home and habitat that they needed.
- 40:15Speaker 2: So I feel like it still would have been as
- 40:20Speaker 2: big as it was, because if we think about it
- 40:23Speaker 2: in terms of like it's mountains probably mostly or some
- 40:30Speaker 2: sort of natural land barriers around it on most sides,
- 40:33Speaker 2: with a lock in the middle, even if it even
- 40:37Speaker 2: if that's more of like a crescent shape and it
- 40:39Speaker 2: flattens out to give you Hogsmeade. I do feel like
- 40:42Speaker 2: a I mean, because you're not going and cutting down
- 40:43Speaker 2: a forest. Well you can, but given how old Hogwarts is,
- 40:50Speaker 2: it's more likely that the forest was I mean, I
- 40:52Speaker 2: don't doubt that the centaurs probably tended it type thing,
- 40:56Speaker 2: but like, I don't feel like it would have gotten
- 40:59Speaker 2: I feel like would have already been a very large
- 41:01Speaker 2: forest into these mountains, going up into these mountains, So
- 41:05Speaker 2: that feels like a stretch. But what do I know.
- 41:11Speaker 2: We weren't there, We weren't there. It's also an imaginary.
- 41:16Speaker 1: No, none of this exists, no way. Yeah. So then
- 41:26Speaker 1: moving on from the forest to the Great Lake. Uh.
- 41:30Speaker 1: Sometimes the Great Lake is referred to by fans as
- 41:34Speaker 1: the Black Lake, but interestingly enough, it was never called
- 41:38Speaker 1: that in the text, so it was no. I guess
- 41:43Speaker 1: it was referred to in its initial book description as
- 41:46Speaker 1: quote a great.
- 41:47Speaker 2: Black lake which they came to at night, so of
- 41:51Speaker 2: course it looked right.
- 41:53Speaker 1: So that probably got kind of twisted around from there
- 41:56Speaker 1: and people just referred to it as the Black Lake.
- 41:58Speaker 1: But it is a fish actually the Great Lake. But
- 42:06Speaker 1: since his fresh water and landlocked, it is really a lock.
- 42:10Speaker 1: Since this is in Scotland, so true. Yeah, and we
- 42:16Speaker 1: know that the giant squid lives in here, which this
- 42:20Speaker 1: is one of those details from the book that I
- 42:22Speaker 1: love so much that I really hope makes it into
- 42:26Speaker 1: the TV show. Just like randomly in the background. I
- 42:28Speaker 1: just want to see the tentacles just come out of
- 42:30Speaker 1: the lake.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Yeah, them hanging out by the lake, random coming up.
- 42:35Speaker 2: I agree.
- 42:35Speaker 1: It's just so funny and it's so random, and I
- 42:40Speaker 1: don't know, I just I love that there's a giant
- 42:42Speaker 1: squid just in the lake and it's just not explained
- 42:45Speaker 1: because like I mean, real giant squid.
- 42:47Speaker 2: It's magic doesn't have to be explained, right.
- 42:50Speaker 1: Like a real giant squid is not going to live
- 42:51Speaker 1: in there in the fresh water.
- 42:53Speaker 2: It's not gonna get in there either, right.
- 42:56Speaker 1: But like locked, Yeah they locked. Yeah, it's funny, but
- 43:01Speaker 1: I mean there is easy to be human. There is
- 43:06Speaker 1: a history of hoaxes surrounding like finding giant squids in lakes,
- 43:12Speaker 1: so I mean it could be inspired by that. And
- 43:16Speaker 1: then like I feel like a lot of stuff that's
- 43:18Speaker 1: in the Wizarding World is like those things where it's like, well,
- 43:21Speaker 1: muggles thought that they saw this, but they explained it
- 43:24Speaker 1: off as like a hoax or like imaginary.
- 43:27Speaker 2: But according to the Wizarding like yeah, ess he's like
- 43:30Speaker 2: a kelpie according to the Wizarding World or something. Yeah,
- 43:35Speaker 2: so yeah it works. I don't know. I just think
- 43:39Speaker 2: of it as a magical kraken.
- 43:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:41Speaker 2: It just happens to be in the lake. It's the
- 43:44Speaker 2: only way it makes sense in my head.
- 43:45Speaker 1: I just love in the books when Dennis Creepy falls
- 43:51Speaker 1: in the lake on the boat crossing and it's the
- 43:54Speaker 1: giant squid that saves them from the lake. It's so cute.
- 43:58Speaker 1: I love it.
- 44:01Speaker 2: Octopus, octopi and squids, those pretty damn smart animals. So yeah,
- 44:06Speaker 2: by it.
- 44:07Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, and then we have our murr people in
- 44:12Speaker 1: there too, which is which I already had my brand.
- 44:15Speaker 2: But seriously, where how huh right?
- 44:18Speaker 1: How does that it?
- 44:20Speaker 2: Just like, how does it happen? Unless it wasn't always landlocked?
- 44:24Speaker 2: I mean I don't really know how locks form.
- 44:28Speaker 1: Did someone bring them there from somewhere else or did
- 44:31Speaker 1: they just like spawn into being here like from the
- 44:34Speaker 1: beginning of time?
- 44:35Speaker 2: Little circus dude, Oh he brought them to the Great Lake.
- 44:41Speaker 2: There you go, it's his fault.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Will blame him, blame him. Yeah, he had had to
- 44:47Speaker 1: dump him quick.
- 44:49Speaker 2: He was being chased by newte by Newt didn't nowhere
- 44:54Speaker 2: else to go, so we went to Hogwarts of all places.
- 44:59Speaker 1: Yeah, but but it is really interesting that there's like
- 45:01Speaker 1: this whole colony of mr people down there that like
- 45:05Speaker 1: have their own civilization.
- 45:09Speaker 2: You don't hear of normal things in the lake either, though, No,
- 45:13Speaker 2: And it it brings up an interesting thought process, which
- 45:18Speaker 2: is the magical stuff exists alongside non magical things in
- 45:24Speaker 2: the Wizarding World or like Wizarded Like, so why isn't
- 45:29Speaker 2: there just a normal, I don't know, trout in the
- 45:33Speaker 2: lake kind of thing, you know what I mean? Like,
- 45:35Speaker 2: there's no you don't even when Harry goes down in
- 45:38Speaker 2: book four to get Weasley, he's not like, oh I
- 45:43Speaker 2: saw a school of fish. It's I saw these kelpie
- 45:45Speaker 2: and it likes grindy like he sees only the magical stuff, right, huh?
- 45:52Speaker 2: And I makes like it makes you think, like, wait
- 45:56Speaker 2: a minute, because if you go beyond on the Great
- 46:01Speaker 2: Lake to like an actual ocean, you'd think the magical
- 46:05Speaker 2: stuff would be they'd all have to coexist, right right?
- 46:10Speaker 1: Or is it just so mundane that like he doesn't
- 46:12Speaker 1: even really couldn't notice.
- 46:14Speaker 2: That there, Yeah, I mean when you see the magical
- 46:20Speaker 2: thing versus the boring trout or whatever. But like, I
- 46:24Speaker 2: don't know, just interesting thought, like you don't you don't
- 46:27Speaker 2: get mentioned of normal things being and I mean it's
- 46:32Speaker 2: a book, and why would you because it's the normal,
- 46:34Speaker 2: boring thing versus the cool magical thing. But it just
- 46:39Speaker 2: makes you wonder about the the circle of life of
- 46:44Speaker 2: it all of like everything being in a symbiotic or
- 46:49Speaker 2: whatever the words that might be the wrong word for it,
- 46:51Speaker 2: like relationship with itself and nature and stuff. But right,
- 46:57Speaker 2: but I still don't know how the mermaids got there.
- 46:59Speaker 2: I don't know how the squid got there either. I mean,
- 47:00Speaker 2: like this is just weird to me.
- 47:02Speaker 1: We don't know, I don't know.
- 47:04Speaker 2: We don't know.
- 47:04Speaker 1: They drop from the sky, I don't know.
- 47:08Speaker 2: Sure, let's go with that now, I'm gonna go with that.
- 47:10Speaker 2: That works better. Somebody just dropped it as they were
- 47:13Speaker 2: flying by.
- 47:14Speaker 1: There was a rainstorm and they got pulled up into
- 47:18Speaker 1: the clouds from the ocean, and then sure the rain
- 47:21Speaker 1: dropped them into the Great Lake.
- 47:24Speaker 2: That's what it was. That's how it a little fish eggs. Okay,
- 47:27Speaker 2: I got there. I got there, all right, randoms my brain.
- 47:35Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 47:38Speaker 1: And then kind of the last stop on our tour
- 47:41Speaker 1: of the grounds here is the quidditch pitch, which there
- 47:45Speaker 1: isn't a ton to say about the quidditch pitch really,
- 47:47Speaker 1: but it's a quidditch pitch.
- 47:49Speaker 2: Sports yay football, wizarding football, Go team, Go team.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Oh.
- 48:00Speaker 2: I mean, it's a pretty ingenious way to still have
- 48:02Speaker 2: a sport, to have the houses competing with each other.
- 48:05Speaker 2: M hmm, because you really don't have It's not like
- 48:10Speaker 2: a normal like, oh, I'm in the middle of London,
- 48:13Speaker 2: so we're gonna play football against the other local school, right,
- 48:17Speaker 2: you know kind of thing. But I don't know, I
- 48:23Speaker 2: never pictured Yeah, I never pictured the location of this
- 48:26Speaker 2: that kind of thing. I guess I kind of pictured
- 48:29Speaker 2: it maybe a little further, but it kind of makes sense.
- 48:31Speaker 2: It would be one closer to the school and two
- 48:33Speaker 2: kind of in between the two, like I said before,
- 48:36Speaker 2: to kind of draw in people from the village who
- 48:38Speaker 2: are like, I'm bored, let's go watch.
- 48:40Speaker 3: The game today, right, yeah huh, Because it definitely is
- 48:45Speaker 3: a very crowded pitch in the movies, like when they're
- 48:48Speaker 3: watching there's lots of people there, not just the students.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Right, which would make sense that locals would want to go,
- 48:56Speaker 1: because like, where else are you really going to watch quidditch?
- 49:00Speaker 1: For the professional quidditch you'd have to probably travel.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Yeah, which is a lot easier for wizards than it
- 49:06Speaker 2: is for muggles. But still do you want to right?
- 49:11Speaker 1: Hm?
- 49:13Speaker 2: So it's interesting. Yeah, yeah, there's not much to say
- 49:17Speaker 2: about it. It just is. It's a quidditch pitche soccer there.
- 49:20Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, So that kind of concludes our little tour
- 49:27Speaker 1: of the Hogwarts grounds. So where would you want to
- 49:32Speaker 1: hang out on the Hogwarts grounds? Where it would be
- 49:36Speaker 1: like your go to hangout place?
- 49:37Speaker 2: Probably by the lake, Probably by the lake. I like
- 49:41Speaker 2: sa I like being near the water. I do not
- 49:43Speaker 2: live near water, of course, because I am I mean,
- 49:48Speaker 2: I've got the Great Lakes near me, but don't go
- 49:51Speaker 2: to them often enough. But I don't know, I grew up,
- 49:53Speaker 2: I did. I gro up a lot of places, but
- 49:55Speaker 2: I lived by the ocean on the East Coast when
- 49:58Speaker 2: I was little and that was very mentally formative for me.
- 50:02Speaker 2: So it's probably still one of my favorite places to
- 50:04Speaker 2: be right by a beach one possible. Yeah, so I'd
- 50:06Speaker 2: probably hang up by the lake. Same.
- 50:10Speaker 1: I went to college on one of the Great.
- 50:11Speaker 2: Lakes, so yes, I would like to access to that
- 50:15Speaker 2: kind of thing.
- 50:17Speaker 1: Just take my book down there and just look at
- 50:18Speaker 1: the water. Yeah, that would be my spot.
- 50:21Speaker 2: It's very to my husband and I whenever we go.
- 50:24Speaker 2: Whenever we go, Charlie's like, let's go see this. I'm like, no,
- 50:27Speaker 2: I want to just go sit by the water. Right,
- 50:29Speaker 2: that's relaxing. I just go sit by the water.
- 50:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it's all I want.
- 50:36Speaker 2: I'm happy. I don't need to sight see. I should,
- 50:39Speaker 2: but I don't need to. Leo must so Lem.
- 50:58Speaker 1: It's been a while since we've done a Miss Salem,
- 51:02Speaker 1: but typically this is something that's like later, like kind
- 51:06Speaker 1: of happy news, and we had one for this this week,
- 51:09Speaker 1: which is nice. Dobby's memorial on Freshwater West Beach in
- 51:16Speaker 1: Wales is saved. So what happened. An underwater electrical cable
- 51:25Speaker 1: was supposed to run straight through the beach and this
- 51:29Speaker 1: grave memorial that fans have set up on the beach
- 51:32Speaker 1: where Dobby's death was filmed, and fans actually successfully lobbied
- 51:38Speaker 1: for the cable line, which is worth eight hundred million
- 51:43Speaker 1: dollars for this project. Uh, they got this to be
- 51:46Speaker 1: diverted away from the memorial so it as not to
- 51:50Speaker 1: destroy it.
- 51:52Speaker 2: Okay, wait, now I know this is a thing like
- 51:56Speaker 2: the Potter sites tend to be very pot destinations. Yes,
- 52:01Speaker 2: especially for filming. I don't know what they're going to
- 52:03Speaker 2: do now that the TV show is coming. There'll be
- 52:05Speaker 2: a whole new site. Right. But this wasn't even like
- 52:09Speaker 2: made by the like it's not even like the city
- 52:12Speaker 2: where this is went. Oh we could have a proper
- 52:14Speaker 2: and this was sanctioned. This is just a thing that
- 52:17Speaker 2: fans set up. Yes, and you're diverting an eight hundred
- 52:21Speaker 2: million dollar electrical apparently yay.
- 52:25Speaker 1: Apparently they got so many phone calls about this that yeah,
- 52:30Speaker 1: they actually diverted it, which is pretty crazy, you know,
- 52:36Speaker 1: the power of speaking.
- 52:37Speaker 2: I guess it's his cable line here. Do we know
- 52:40Speaker 2: if it was like to get electricity to the visit
- 52:43Speaker 2: or like internet or you know.
- 52:45Speaker 1: So it's electricity and I didn't delve too far into it,
- 52:49Speaker 1: but it's something about it connects from Wales to Ireland
- 52:55Speaker 1: and some sort of something electrical.
- 52:57Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, oh yeah, well I was just his cable line.
- 53:01Speaker 2: That's why I was like, cable could be Internet, like yeah, yeah, realistic,
- 53:06Speaker 2: just wondering. Yeah, but yeah, so this is not the
- 53:11Speaker 2: first time that this fan memorial has been saved. If
- 53:15Speaker 2: you remember, back in twenty twenty two, there were environmental
- 53:19Speaker 2: concerns raised about the site because fans were leaving physical
- 53:23Speaker 2: items behind instead of just the beach pebbles.
- 53:28Speaker 1: So the site was allowed to remember that, Yeah, the
- 53:30Speaker 1: site was allowed to stay then, but obviously there were
- 53:35Speaker 1: a lot of reminders about this of do not leave
- 53:39Speaker 1: physical items on this memorial on this beach it was
- 53:44Speaker 1: garbage at the time, Yeah, because they can be washed
- 53:47Speaker 1: into the sea and then you know you've negatively impacted
- 53:50Speaker 1: marine life and the environment. So just a reminder. Super
- 53:55Speaker 1: cool that this is saved and it is. It looks
- 53:59Speaker 1: like a cool place to visit. I would definitely visit
- 54:02Speaker 1: there if I was there. But yeah, there's ways to
- 54:06Speaker 1: pay tribute without doing harm. So a few ways. You
- 54:11Speaker 1: could take photos and appreciate the existing grave markers without
- 54:16Speaker 1: adding anything new. Or you can use a smaller rock
- 54:20Speaker 1: with like a pocket knife or something to like scratch
- 54:23Speaker 1: a message into the rock. Don't use paint because the
- 54:28Speaker 1: paint can flake off over time and get into the ocean,
- 54:32Speaker 1: So yeah, it's so noise.
- 54:39Speaker 2: Last week, the podcast question was what is your favorite
- 54:42Speaker 2: show or entertainment in the Wizarding World theme parks, and
- 54:46Speaker 2: from Jerry we heard she responded with, well, before Epic Universe,
- 54:52Speaker 2: it would have been a difficult choice to make. All
- 54:55Speaker 2: four of the live shows at Hogsmead and Diagon Alley
- 54:58Speaker 2: are great. I happy to hear that the Fountain of
- 55:01Speaker 2: Fair Fortune is still in rotation. I actually saw that
- 55:03Speaker 2: for the first time on our last visit, because I
- 55:06Speaker 2: never got a chance to see it the first time round. Yeah,
- 55:10Speaker 2: the past several times, I seem to always get the
- 55:13Speaker 2: Three Brothers, and I was afraid that the Fountain had
- 55:16Speaker 2: been discontinued. But now the Circus show is the clear winner.
- 55:20Speaker 2: I just love that show so much for so many reasons,
- 55:23Speaker 2: including the fact that you can sit down inside out
- 55:26Speaker 2: of the rain and heat. I'm with you, Jerry, in
- 55:31Speaker 2: such a great show. I've actually seen it at least
- 55:33Speaker 2: four times, sitting in different locations. I love being in
- 55:36Speaker 2: the middle about two to four rows from the front
- 55:39Speaker 2: the most, since you have the chance to catch the
- 55:41Speaker 2: magic bubbles. And watch them turn to smoke just like magic,
- 55:45Speaker 2: but sitting towards the left and right. Let's one notice
- 55:49Speaker 2: different details also, especially when we get inside Newt's case.
- 55:53Speaker 2: I have seen and enjoyed all the different projection shows
- 55:55Speaker 2: on the Castle, and my favorite is certainly the Christmas one.
- 56:00Speaker 2: And I don't think you mentioned. The Frog Choir also
- 56:04Speaker 2: has a special holiday show with Wizarding carols I forgot.
- 56:07Speaker 2: I wish they would. I wish they would release Celestina
- 56:10Speaker 2: and the Frog Choir music at least a Wizarding Christmas CD. Ooh,
- 56:14Speaker 2: that would be cool y. I think that the only
- 56:18Speaker 2: entertainment that I have managed to avoid is the Dark
- 56:21Speaker 2: Wizard's Death theaters who wander through hogs meat during the
- 56:24Speaker 2: Halloween season.
- 56:25Speaker 1: Ooh, I'm gonna have.
- 56:27Speaker 2: To check that out. I don't know when that starts.
- 56:29Speaker 2: When does that start? And on a Halloween projection? Oh well,
- 56:33Speaker 2: there you go. Maybe i'll see it this October. And
- 56:35Speaker 2: the Halloween projection show is my least favorite. I only
- 56:38Speaker 2: saw it one time, and then from Anne, she said,
- 56:43Speaker 2: Felsina Warbeck. Her show is fun and high energy. I
- 56:48Speaker 2: do love cel Asina show. I remember the first time
- 56:50Speaker 2: I saw Celestina was when my kids were really little,
- 56:52Speaker 2: and watching them like hop around to the music was
- 56:56Speaker 2: the best because the nice thing I have to say
- 56:59Speaker 2: that one is pretty well planned out and leaky or
- 57:03Speaker 2: not leaky in diagon Alley because you do not cut
- 57:08Speaker 2: off traffic to sit and enjoy that show just sitting
- 57:11Speaker 2: on the ground, which was perfect when you have little
- 57:13Speaker 2: kids and they're tired and you need to just be
- 57:16Speaker 2: out of the sun because diagon Alley's all covered for
- 57:18Speaker 2: the most part. And so I don't know that one
- 57:23Speaker 2: was a great show I did not see. That was
- 57:25Speaker 2: the first time I'd ever gone. I didn't see any
- 57:27Speaker 2: of the other shows except Celestina. I missed Brothers Fountain,
- 57:31Speaker 2: all of them just because of timing wise with the
- 57:33Speaker 2: kids wanting to wander around the park and they were
- 57:34Speaker 2: pretty young. My little list wasn't even two. Oh wosh, no,
- 57:38Speaker 2: it wasn't even three. So it was a long time.
- 57:42Speaker 2: And then so I got to see more shows when
- 57:44Speaker 2: we went this last year, and that was fun. I
- 57:48Speaker 2: definitely think the Circus is one of my favorites, yes,
- 57:52Speaker 2: because that is a really good show, But you know
- 57:55Speaker 2: what the thing is, the Circus just makes me want
- 57:57Speaker 2: to know what the Ministry Ride really would have been,
- 58:02Speaker 2: because the circus is so great with the creatures. And
- 58:06Speaker 2: then for whatever reason, they caved, they pivoted and they
- 58:11Speaker 2: turned that Ministry Ride into the Ministry Ride, and I
- 58:14Speaker 2: really think they should have stuck to their guns. I
- 58:17Speaker 2: know it would have. Actually, here's a good example. I
- 58:21Speaker 2: went with you guys in January. We all went got
- 58:24Speaker 2: to see all of the fun. We're all fans, we
- 58:27Speaker 2: know these worlds. We've seen the Fantastic Beast movie. A
- 58:31Speaker 2: family friend of mine who has kids about my daughter's age.
- 58:36Speaker 2: They went over the summery, did not have like, didn't
- 58:40Speaker 2: stay at the parks, didn't have the early access, miserable
- 58:43Speaker 2: hot summer heat. I did try to warn them that
- 58:45Speaker 2: and I was like, you're gonna love epic. It's great.
- 58:47Speaker 2: And they went to the Harry Potter section and they're like,
- 58:49Speaker 2: we don't get any of this, and I was like,
- 58:52Speaker 2: and I think that's why they pivoted with the Ministry
- 58:56Speaker 2: because nobody was gonna get it.
- 59:00Speaker 1: But I go to other sections of that park, and
- 59:04Speaker 1: I don't necessarily understand the Nintendo section, but I still
- 59:08Speaker 1: enjoy it and have fun and appreciate it.
- 59:10Speaker 2: That's the thing. That's why I'm like, you should have
- 59:12Speaker 2: just dug in, because the other thing they said was
- 59:14Speaker 2: this was really cool, we just didn't understand any and
- 59:18Speaker 2: I was like, Okay, that's fine, but it's still cool
- 59:23Speaker 2: and magical, and like if you're going to have Wizarding
- 59:25Speaker 2: Paris all of a sudden, none of that makes sense
- 59:28Speaker 2: it right, you can walk into the Circus show and
- 59:32Speaker 2: you get enough backstory just from the Circus show, Like,
- 59:35Speaker 2: I feel like the line could have been geared towards
- 59:37Speaker 2: whatever they were going to do with it.
- 59:38Speaker 1: Yeah, and look at how many people pack into that
- 59:42Speaker 1: Circus show every single showing.
- 59:44Speaker 2: Yeah, and I do.
- 59:46Speaker 1: I feel like every time I've gone I've seen people
- 59:49Speaker 1: wearing fantastic Beast merch who clearly know it's up. I've
- 59:55Speaker 1: also overheard people like in lines be like I'm going
- 59:59Speaker 1: to watch these movies now, like this is cool. So
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: like I feel like they could have done it. Yes,
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: it would have been a risk, but I feel like
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: they could have done it. I think that there was
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: enough of a tie to the Harry Potter that people
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: know that they would have recognized Wizarding World and been like,
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: let's go oh, Wow, this is cool.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: But without any knowledge of what they would have been planning,
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: I feel like that that ride could could have easily
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: been and maybe that's what it was. I don't really know,
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: I'm no insider. I feel like it would have been
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: you go into Newts apartment and the walk the line
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: is walking through his like basement. Yeah, and the ride
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: is the case, Yes, I.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: Really think it because they have the Rumpant animatronic. Why
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: else would they have had an a rumpet animatronic if
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: not for a fantastic beast.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: Ride, right, So I feel like that's what the ride
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: was supposed to be. You're walking into is you in
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: his apartment? Maybe you're you're just magically fluing, you're not
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: flowing through time, you're flwing into London right from France.
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: And that's why the line then starts to make sense,
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: because it's ridiculously long and you're going through his little
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: magically extended basement with all the creatures, and then you're
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: going into the case for the ride. Yeah, and they
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: should have whether or not that's actually but something to
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: that effect is what it should have been, and it
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: should have stayed that way, and I think they should
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: have stuck to their guns. But whatever is what it
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: is now.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: Somebody made that decision.
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: Somebody higher up made that decision. And don't get me wrong,
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: the lines that people stand in line for that ride forever,
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: but we waited for it. I think one of the
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: shorter times too.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I remember all of us.
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: I think all of us jumped in line when it
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: was still short enough to justify riding that ride. And
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: I remember getting off that ride and going one my
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: kid's gonna get sick. It was very similar. This is
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: how I think these like is would I take my
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: kids on it? Right? My one kid gets a really
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: bad motion sickness the Hogwarts Castle ride. I get motion
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: sick and I was feeling queasy getting off that ride.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: But she was like ready to peek, like she gets
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: way worse motion sickness than me, I think in some ways.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: But I was like, this is that type of ride
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: where it's like she's going to be set to her
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: stomach doing this thing. And then the mashup felt forced,
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: So I was a little underwhelmed. It wasn't a bad ride,
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: it was fine.
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: Every time I do it, but I just yes, I
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: won't get over the fact that we could have had
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: a Newscase ride.
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: Yeah, it's always going to be a little bitter, a
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: little bit, a little bit. I wonder what they're going
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: to do. This is off topic and out of Wizarding World,
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: but given that it is epic, I feel like it's
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: a little on topic. They stuck heavily to the animated
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: version of How to Train Your Dragon, not the live action,
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: and I wonder if they're ever going to try and
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: incorporate some of the live action elements to that, And
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: I hope they don't, but.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: Like, I feel like they won't, just like I think
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: that the Harry Potter sections of the park. They're not
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: gonna pivot to TV show. It's a it's going to
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: be on the BBA, the TV show. Yeah.
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: Maybe I think they will incorporate some of the TV stuff.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: I don't think they're going to make drastic changes to
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: the rise right maybe March, but Merch. I think it'll
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: be Merching easy changes. They'll they'll probably change and swap
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: things out to go along with the TV show. Yeah,
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: because you're gonna have a whole generation of people that
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: are going to be confused. Otherwise, so.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: Interesting anyway, anyway, so our discussion question for this week
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: is where would your go to hangout Spot B on
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: the Hogwarts grounds. Carolyn and I are both Team Lake,
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: so interesting if we get other answers.
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: I'm curious to see what other people would say about
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: the ground because they do feel like there's a lot
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: of good spots to kind of like depending on your interests. Like,
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: it's not like it's a small and I would be
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: a little concerned about the ones that choose the forest. Yeah,
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: it is forbidden for a reason. People just remember that.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: You're on your own.
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: Harry gets into all mess of trouble in there every
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: single time.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: Oh gosh, but we would love to hear from you,
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: so drop us an email at Revellio Podcast staff at

- 1:04:51Speaker 1: Revellio Podcast. And then just a quick heads up about
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: our next episode. It's going to be slightly delayed due
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: to how back to Hogwarts Falls this year. This happened
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: to us last year too, so we will be waiting
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: to record until after the showcase so that we can
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: discuss all of the latest from that day. So we
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: need a little bit of time to get that done
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: and out to you all. Our regular release would have
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: been on September third, which is too tight a turnaround.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: That is way to turn around, So we need a
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: little time to digest that.
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: And you know there's going to be an announcement, so
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: you don't want to miss exactly.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: So we're just going to delay a little. So keep
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: an eye on our socials for release date as we
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: get a bit closer to that, but expect it to
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: be sometime in the days following what would have normally
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: been that September third release, so likely that weekend or
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: early the next week.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: Probably a good thing.
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: Yeah, there'll be news.
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: Then you'll have news, you'll have things to talk about.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: It would be good, exactly. Yeah, So Carolyn, thank you
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: so much for joining us yet again.
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: Oh always fun my little foray back into the Wizarding
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: world a little bit here and there.
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: So yeah, all right, until next time, I'm emy and
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: I'm Carolyn Mischief managed,
