- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to pick up
- 0:06where he left off with the Tovin Owell interview with Congress. Question. Okay,
- 0:12let's talk about mister Epstein's time while he was in
- 0:15the shoe. Answer okay, question, did you ever have any
- 0:19conversation with mister Epstein while he was in the shoe? Answer?
- 0:22The only conversation I had, like I referenced earlier, was
- 0:25when I took the phone from him in the shower,
- 0:28letting him know that his time was up. As far
- 0:31as conversation that would have been like me speaking to
- 0:33him at the time, I mean when I handed the food,
- 0:36I just opened the food tray and I handed it.
- 0:38We didn't have a conversation. Oh and he asked me
- 0:41to plug in the seapap machine and I said okay,
- 0:44and I plugged it. In question, so there were never
- 0:47any conversations, no back and forth more than what you
- 0:50just described. Answer no, question, did you ever have any
- 0:54interaction with mister Ebstein besides the ones that you just mentioned?
- 0:57Answer no. When I count, when I did the count
- 1:01on myself, when I looked through the window, he raised
- 1:03his hand, question signaling that he was there? Answer? Was there? Correct?
- 1:08Because he's on the floor. He puts his mattress on
- 1:10the floor. Question Did that seem unusual to you? Answer
- 1:14no question. Would other inmates do things like that put
- 1:17mattresses on the floor? Answer I mean in general population, Yeah,
- 1:22especially if their bunk was the top and they don't
- 1:24like to be on the top, they put it on
- 1:26the floor. Mister Emmer, you mentioned that you didn't have
- 1:29any conversation with mister Epstein while he was incarcerated. Are
- 1:33you aware of any staff at MCC that may have
- 1:36had conversations with him that were not related to his incarceration,
- 1:40Miss Noel, Not that I know of. Question. Did he
- 1:44he being mister Epstein, ever attempt to interact with you?
- 1:48Answer no question. Did you witness or hear anything about
- 1:51him trying to interact with any of the other officers?
- 1:55Answer no question. Would mister Epstein ever write notes in
- 1:58his cell? Answer Sir, I learned that after I didn't
- 2:02physically see him writing a note or was aware at
- 2:04the time that he would write notes. Just know about
- 2:07the notes after question. So he did write notes in
- 2:11his cell that you learned about after the fact, answer
- 2:14that I learned about after the fact. Question would inmates
- 2:17in the shoe have access to materials while in their cell?
- 2:20Answer I'm not sure. Question would they have any like
- 2:23books or pens, notepads anything like that? Answer not that
- 2:27I saw. Question would speaking about shoe inmates like generally,
- 2:31would they be allowed or permitted to have such items
- 2:34in their cell? Answer that I don't know the answer too,
- 2:38I don't know if they're permitted to have it. Question
- 2:41you said earlier that shoe inmates in particular were different
- 2:44from the arrest of mcc inmates because they were in
- 2:46their cells for twenty three hours answer correct question out
- 2:51of the day, and they had one hour outside their cell.
- 2:54What would normally be happening when they would be outside
- 2:57their cells? Answer? So the one hour could be that's
- 3:00where you're going to meet your attorney, or there's like
- 3:03a little library like right there you can go. And
- 3:05I think in the shoe it's you can't be together.
- 3:08There's like separation, so it's not like everybody's out together.
- 3:12I guess if one's done reading then the other could
- 3:14come out like that. But other than that, I'm not
- 3:18sure if anything else that they do because it's not
- 3:21done on my shift? Question what shift is it done on? Answer?
- 3:25I know there's wreck, but I don't know if they're
- 3:27allowed to go to wreck. I don't know who. But
- 3:29that would have been a morning shift, like eight to four.
- 3:32I come on at four, So question what's the wreck?
- 3:37Answer on the roof upstairs outside. Question you said that
- 3:40mister Epstein met with his attorney attorneys frequently. How did
- 3:45he seem where you ever on shift whenever mister Epstein
- 3:48would come back from visiting with his attorneys? Answer yes,
- 3:51question how did he seem when he came back? Answer?
- 3:55Whoever transported him to his cell? And that's it? Regular question?
- 3:59Did you ever know what is mister Epstein doing anything
- 4:01unusual while his cell door other than what you described
- 4:06him laying the mattress on the floor. Answer no, because
- 4:09you're not in the cell block constantly like regular population
- 4:13only like if you're going to conduct around or account.
- 4:16But no other than the mattress on the floor, I
- 4:19never observed him doing anything. Question. I know we touched
- 4:22on this a little bit earlier, but I'm going to
- 4:24ask you again. Were you aware that mister Epstein was
- 4:27seeing AMCC psychologist following the July twenty third incident. Answer,
- 4:32when they came into the shoe, they see a psychologist,
- 4:35him seeing or after I don't know. Question okay, So,
- 4:39did you ever witness any MCC psychologists conducting clinical follow
- 4:44ups with mister Epstein? Answer no, and I think a
- 4:48lot of those things are morning shift things on my shift. No,
- 4:51I never seen anyone. Question because typically didn't work the
- 4:55midnight shift. Answer eight to four question okay, and just
- 4:59to clarify, I think you said note to this, but
- 5:02were you, as a shoe officer, responsible for reporting any
- 5:05unusual behavior by mister Epstein or any shoe inmate to
- 5:08the psychologist? Answer no question. Was that ever a part
- 5:12of the training that was expressed to anyone that you
- 5:14know of? Answer to report unusual behavior to a psychologist?
- 5:18No question, like, for example, a shoe inmate that was
- 5:22on suicide watch, Did you have to make note of
- 5:25that in any way? Answer no question. Did you know
- 5:28at the time that mister Epstein had signed a new
- 5:30last Will and Testament on August ninth, twenty nineteen, Answer
- 5:34no question. To the best of your knowledge, and based
- 5:38on what you saw of mister Epstein while he was
- 5:40in the Shoe and while you worked there were there
- 5:43any signs that Jeffrey Epstein was suicidal? Answer no question
- 5:48And based on your experience as a correctional officer and
- 5:51what you witnessed firstand do you believe that mister Epstein
- 5:54killed himself? Answer yes, question? Why is that answer? Because
- 6:00he was the only one in to sell Nobody else
- 6:01was in there, mister Emmer during your time with MCC,
- 6:06where suicide's a common occurrence, Miss Noel, my time was
- 6:09very short because I was out with an injury for
- 6:11those months. But that was the first one that I
- 6:14was there for. And that's the thing. There weren't that
- 6:17many suicides at MCC. It wasn't like a place that
- 6:20was riddled with a bunch of inmate deaths via suicide.
- 6:26And it's not like they haven't had a whole bunch
- 6:27of high level inmates go through the doors, Miss fair Bend.
- 6:35Question was it maybe common is not the right word,
- 6:38but do you think that there would have been more
- 6:39Shoe inmates in particular on Suicide Watch than inmates elsewhere
- 6:43in the MCC Answer correct question. So, MCC psychologists, it
- 6:49wasn't uncommon for them to come in and do like
- 6:51follow ups with shoe inmates? Is that right? Answer in
- 6:54the morning question, I'd like to reference the Dojoig report.
- 6:59I know that we talked about it a little bit.
- 7:01It says that on August eighth, some mcc new York
- 7:04staff received notice that mister Epstein cellmate would be transferred
- 7:08out of the institution the following day, on August ninth.
- 7:12Did you ever receive any notice that mister Epstein cellmate
- 7:15would be transferred out? Answer no question. Were you ever
- 7:19told that mister Epstein would be getting a new cell mate?
- 7:21Answer no question. Were you ever told why mister Epstein
- 7:25cell mate was being transferred out on August eight? Answer
- 7:29no question. Did you ever personally speak to anyone else
- 7:34that knew that his cell mate was going to be
- 7:35transferred out? Answer no question. Were you working that day
- 7:39on August eighth? Answer August eight? I think I worked.
- 7:43Question okay, but you didn't hear any conversation about that?
- 7:46Answer no question, okay. I'd like to move forward to
- 7:50the night of August ninth, as we've been discussing, So
- 7:53you had the workstation in the shoe that you worked at,
- 7:56correct answer correct question. Did you have a computer at
- 7:59that station while you worked at the shoe Answer correct
- 8:03question was it a desktop or a laptop? Answer a desktop?
- 8:07Question how many desktops were there at the station? Answer
- 8:11to the best of my recollection, too. Question Okay, was
- 8:14the computer yours? Or would you log into it? Answer?
- 8:18I would log into it? Question would you always log
- 8:20into the same computer? Answer no, it could be either
- 8:23or question was it a staff specific log in that
- 8:27you had to get into the computer? Answer yes, question
- 8:31so any staff member could log into the computer. Answer correct.
- 8:35Question would you complete your logs or your reports on
- 8:38the computer? Answer no on the sheet? Question on the sheet?
- 8:42Were there any tasks that you would complete on the
- 8:44computer while you were on shift? Answer not the shoe question, so,
- 8:48to be clear, nothing that you would have done on
- 8:51the computer work related answer correct question. Okay, did Officer
- 8:56bon Ham and Thomas I'm assuming also both had computers?
- 9:00Answer correct question. Did you stay on the same desktop
- 9:03computer for both your August nine and August tenth shift? Answer?
- 9:08I don't recall that. Question. Okay, while you were on shift,
- 9:12were you ever on your computer? Answer yes? Question what
- 9:15were you doing on your computer? Answer on the shift
- 9:19from midnight to eight in the morning, I was looking
- 9:21at furniture. Question so non work related things? Answer correct.
- 9:27Question Were you searching images or things on Google? Answer no,
- 9:31to the best of my recollection. No question. But you
- 9:34said you were looking at furniture. How are you doing
- 9:37that on your computer? Typed in that search? The search
- 9:40doesn't have to be Google. It could be like being
- 9:43any search, any search engine. Question. Sure, were you looking
- 9:47at anything else besides furniture while you were on the internet?
- 9:50Answer so whenever you open the homepage where the new
- 9:53loads Epstein would be on there, and I'd clicked onto it.
- 9:56Question the search function I believe a friends Will report
- 10:00has done the two desktops at the shoe station that night.
- 10:03It said that the search function said, quote latest on
- 10:06Epstein in Jail end quote. I know that you've been
- 10:09asked this before, did you? It's your testimony that you
- 10:12didn't physically type in latest on Epstein in Jail. Answer right,
- 10:16I clicked on when I seen it load like on
- 10:19the news on the desktop. Question and the desktop. The
- 10:22Frienderick report of the desktop says that the latest on
- 10:25Epstein in Jail was searched twice that night, once five
- 10:28forty two am. And once ten minutes later, or again
- 10:32ten minutes later at five point fifty two am? Is
- 10:34that correct? Answer? I saw that. I learned that later
- 10:37on the news. I don't recall doing that, only what
- 10:40I said, like, if I see it on the homepage,
- 10:44I click on it and read it. But as far
- 10:46as performing a physical search, I don't recall doing that. Yo,
- 10:49I don't believe a minute of that. Holy shit. And
- 10:52if you notice, her story really isn't jibing with what
- 10:55we've heard from the other depositions. Question when you first
- 11:01clicked on it, what did you see? Answer? Well, I
- 11:03don't remember specifically, but it'd be like a headline with
- 11:06them like whatever the headline would say. Question, So at
- 11:09that point you knew who Jeffrey Epstein was? Answer at
- 11:12that point, yes, question and you knew that he was
- 11:15an inmate in the shoe answer? Uh huh. Question were
- 11:19you curious in any way anything about mister Epstein? I
- 11:22guess my question is why didn't you want to look
- 11:25at gets cut off by toviin no, Well, oh, because
- 11:27he's in there. Question so mister Epstein was found deceased, Well,
- 11:31he appeared to be deceased in his cell at six
- 11:34thirty am the morning of August tenth, Is that correct?
- 11:38So what forty minutes after, she's looking up Jeffrey Epstein
- 11:42and Jeffrey Epstein in jail like what doesn't make sense
- 11:47to me? And I'm sorry that I don't buy it,
- 11:49but I don't answer that. I can't answer because I
- 11:54didn't find him. Question. Okay, who found mister Epstein in itself?
- 11:58Answer Michael Thomas. All Right, folks, we're gonna wrap up
- 12:01right here and in the next episode dealing with the topic,
- 12:04we're gonna pick up where we left off. All the
- 12:06information that goes with this episode can be found in
