Latest / The Vault: The Epstein Files / Former Attorney General Bill Barr Gives His Jeffrey Epstein Related Testimony To Congress
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. So the dog and pony show involving Jeffrey
- 0:08Speaker 1: Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell kicked off in earnest yesterday on
- 0:11Speaker 1: Capitol Hill with Bill Barr appearing before Congress to give
- 0:15Speaker 1: testimony about Jeffrey Epstein. And wouldn't you know it, Bill
- 0:20Speaker 1: Barr says that there's no chance whatsoever that Donald Trump
- 0:23Speaker 1: could be involved. I mean, who would have ever guessed
- 0:26Speaker 1: that Bill Barr would have that kind of commentary? You know,
- 0:30Speaker 1: the same Bill Barr whose father hired Jeffrey Epstein at
- 0:33Speaker 1: Dalton when he was the headmaster there? The same Bill
- 0:37Speaker 1: Barr who came in and told us that everything was
- 0:40Speaker 1: on the up and up when it comes to Epstein?
- 0:43Speaker 1: The same Bill Barr that's done nothing but lie through
- 0:46Speaker 1: his teeth when it comes to Epstein, that same guy?
- 0:50Speaker 2: Sure, the arbiter of truth, Bill Barr.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Today's article is from Fox News and the headline, Bill
- 0:57Speaker 1: Barr testifies he didn't see info that would implicate Trump
- 1:01Speaker 1: in Epstein case, Comer says. So if you're going to
- 1:04Speaker 1: tell us what happened at the interview, why not just
- 1:07Speaker 1: make it public? Why is this happening behind closed doors?
- 1:11Speaker 1: Why is Congress getting these documents so they can go
- 1:14Speaker 1: through them before the public sees them? Well, I'll tell
- 1:17Speaker 1: you why. Because they want to control the narrative still.
- 1:20Speaker 1: They want to give you sanitized information. They'll say that
- 1:23Speaker 1: it's about survivors. They'll say it's about protecting people. But
- 1:27Speaker 1: what they really mean is it's about protecting their donors.
- 1:30Speaker 1: The people that are funding their campaigns. The people that
- 1:33Speaker 1: are paying for their vacations. The people that are letting
- 1:36Speaker 1: them use their planes. The people that are funding their
- 1:40Speaker 1: political careers. This article was authored by Elizabeth Elkind. Former
- 1:48Speaker 1: Attorney General Bill Barr told House investigators on Monday that
- 1:51Speaker 1: he never saw anything that could tie President Donald Trump
- 1:55Speaker 1: to Jeffrey Epstein's sordid crimes. Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer
- 2:00Speaker 1: from Kentucky said, Well, that settles it, folks. We can
- 2:03Speaker 1: all pack it in, we can all stop investigating, and
- 2:05Speaker 1: we can all just move on to the next topic, right?
- 2:08Speaker 2: Because Bill Barr told us so.
- 2:10Speaker 1: I mean, is there anybody who's more likable, anybody who's
- 2:13Speaker 1: more reliable, and anybody who's more honest than Bill Barr?
- 2:18Speaker 1: I mean, we're talking about the pinnacle of honesty here, folks.
- 2:21Speaker 1: He said that he'd never seen anything that would implicate
- 2:23Speaker 1: President Trump in any of this. And he believed, if
- 2:27Speaker 1: there had been anything pertaining to President Trump with respect
- 2:30Speaker 1: to the Epstein list, that he felt like the Biden
- 2:32Speaker 1: administration would probably have leaked it out. Comer told reporters,
- 2:37Speaker 1: partway through Barr's testimony, Yeah, sorry, I don't buy that.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Considering that the people on the left, these politicians, they're
- 2:44Speaker 1: owned by the same bankers. Oh, they're going to out
- 2:47Speaker 1: the whole entire operation, huh?
- 2:49Speaker 2: Out themselves?
- 2:50Speaker 1: This is called mutually assured destruction. That's why it's never
- 2:54Speaker 1: been released. And that's why these goofballs are still sanitizing it.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Here's an idea. Let's end the whole entire thing. And
- 3:01Speaker 2: there's one way to do that. Be transparent.
- 3:04Speaker 1: That doesn't mean going through Congress and having people like
- 3:07Speaker 1: Comer come out and try and run some kind of
- 3:10Speaker 1: game on us. Because that's really what the whole point
- 3:14Speaker 1: of this is. They're trying to fortify the administration, right?
- 3:18Speaker 1: That's the whole point of having Bill Barr come up
- 3:20Speaker 1: here and give testimony. Oh yeah, look, the Attorney General
- 3:23Speaker 1: says he saw nothing amiss. Yeah, well, bitch-ass Bill Barr
- 3:26Speaker 1: was in on it. So not exactly what I would
- 3:29Speaker 1: call a reliable narrator. The ex-Trump administration official is the
- 3:35Speaker 1: first person to appear in the House Oversight Committee's probe
- 3:38Speaker 1: into the federal government's handling of Epstein's case. And I
- 3:42Speaker 1: wish I could tell you folks that I thought that
- 3:44Speaker 1: they had good intentions here and that their motivations were pure,
- 3:47Speaker 1: but I don't think they are. I think that this
- 3:50Speaker 1: is all about trying to give cover to the administration
- 3:53Speaker 1: and to try to calm down the base a bit,
- 3:55Speaker 1: but I think that this is going to have the
- 3:57Speaker 1: opposite effect. I think that people are going to have
- 3:59Speaker 1: more questions than we get answers when this whole entire
- 4:03Speaker 1: dog and pony show is over and done with. Like
- 4:05Speaker 1: others subpoenaed to testify after him, Barr's deposition is being
- 4:09Speaker 1: conducted behind closed doors.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Oh, I wonder why.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Why is it that we're not having transparency here when
- 4:16Speaker 1: the big issue is that everything has been kept under wraps?
- 4:20Speaker 1: But sure, let's just compound the problem and let's continue
- 4:23Speaker 1: in secrecy like a bunch of boobs. And once again,
- 4:27Speaker 1: I ask you, why should we trust anything that Congress
- 4:29Speaker 1: is telling us? Have you taken a look at their
- 4:32Speaker 1: approval rating lately? But all of a sudden, We should
- 4:35Speaker 1: listen to what they're saying and they're not going to
- 4:37Speaker 1: try and protect themselves and the power structure that keeps
- 4:41Speaker 1: them in power. Because make no mistake, that's all any
- 4:44Speaker 1: of these people care about. None of them really care
- 4:46Speaker 1: about justice. None of them care about you. And they
- 4:49Speaker 1: certainly don't care about your kids. Comer said Barr told
- 4:52Speaker 1: investigators he didn't know anything about a client list and
- 4:56Speaker 1: did not have conversations with Trump. About such a list. Well,
- 4:59Speaker 1: that's because the list never existed. The whole point of
- 5:03Speaker 1: talking about that list was so that later on, when
- 5:05Speaker 1: it comes out that there is no list, they can
- 5:08Speaker 1: say to you, look, it's just a big conspiracy theory,
- 5:10Speaker 1: like the rest of it. There are so many traps
- 5:13Speaker 1: that have been set throughout this whole entire investigation to
- 5:16Speaker 1: make people look kooky. That way they can say the
- 5:19Speaker 1: whole entire thing is nothing more than one big conspiracy theory.
- 5:22Speaker 1: And this is the blueprint they use every single time.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Democrats who were in the room for the first two
- 5:28Speaker 1: hours of Barr's deposition were much more vague about what
- 5:31Speaker 1: went on, but they accused Republicans of taking too soft
- 5:35Speaker 1: an approach. Oh, I'm sure that they're just going to
- 5:37Speaker 1: go hard as fuck on Bill Clinton, right? I'm sure
- 5:40Speaker 1: the Democrats are going to let him have it. Meanwhile,
- 5:42Speaker 1: they're letting Stacey Plaskett slide as we speak. Nobody's saying
- 5:46Speaker 1: shit about her. Has anybody called her to the carpet?
- 5:49Speaker 1: Where are all the articles from New York Times or
- 5:53Speaker 1: Washington Post or the Daily Beast? You know, all these
- 5:57Speaker 1: outlets that like to talk shit.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Where are they now?
- 5:59Speaker 1: The whole entire selective outrage is completely and utterly unacceptable.
- 6:04Speaker 1: You can't pick and choose what you find despicable here.
- 6:07Speaker 1: It's all fucking despicable, no matter who took part. I
- 6:10Speaker 1: have more questions now than I did before going in. Representatives, Suhas, Submaranium,
- 6:16Speaker 1: Told reporters before Comer's remarks, just generally though, I think
- 6:20Speaker 1: Democrats' side is doing most of the heavy lifting. I
- 6:23Speaker 1: don't think we're learning much from the questioning from the
- 6:26Speaker 1: House Republicans. It is all a dog and pony show.
- 6:29Speaker 1: All they're trying to do is calm things down. That's
- 6:32Speaker 1: all this is. I wish it was more. I wish
- 6:35Speaker 1: they really cared about what was going on. I wish
- 6:37Speaker 1: they really tried to get to the truth. But I'm
- 6:39Speaker 1: not going to take part in their bullshit-ass narrative. Comer
- 6:42Speaker 1: said when asked about those comments, I think it's unfortunate
- 6:45Speaker 1: that the Democrats are trying to, seems to me, politicize this.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Oh yeah, they're the only ones trying to do that, huh?
- 6:53Speaker 1: Now after Bill Clinton gives his deposition, it's going to
- 6:56Speaker 1: be the other side claiming the same thing. But the
- 6:59Speaker 1: reality is, both sides are playing a role.
- 7:02Speaker 2: It's like wrestling.
- 7:04Speaker 1: They make pretend that they hate each other out in public,
- 7:07Speaker 1: but behind closed doors, they're all breaking bread, they're all
- 7:10Speaker 1: hanging out together, and they're all best friends. And that
- 7:13Speaker 1: goes for both sides of the aisle. All of this
- 7:16Speaker 1: is performative. Barr served as Attorney General from February 2019
- 7:22Speaker 1: through December 2020 during Trump's first administration. It was his
- 7:27Speaker 1: second stint leading the Department of Justice after first holding
- 7:31Speaker 1: the job under former President George H.W. Bush. Barr notably
- 7:36Speaker 1: led the DOJ when Epstein died by suicide, allegedly, in
- 7:39Speaker 1: August of 2019 while awaiting trial in a New York
- 7:43Speaker 1: City jail. And of course, it was just a bunch
- 7:46Speaker 1: of coincidences, right, that led to what happened. The machinery broke,
- 7:50Speaker 1: the guards fell asleep, they're short-staffed, and everything just happens
- 7:53Speaker 1: at the same time.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Okay, I guess. If you want to believe that, that's cool.
- 7:58Speaker 2: I don't believe it, though.
- 8:00Speaker 1: He said days later, at a fraternal order of police
- 8:02Speaker 1: event in New Orleans, that he was appalled and angry
- 8:06Speaker 1: at what he said was the facility's failure to adequately
- 8:09Speaker 1: secure this prisoner. The most important prisoner, maybe in the
- 8:14Speaker 1: whole entire system, and you put him in a jail
- 8:16Speaker 1: cell with a four-time murderer. Please somebody make that make sense,
- 8:21Speaker 1: because it does not make sense to anybody with a brain.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein should have never been in a jail cell
- 8:27Speaker 1: with Nicholas Tartaglione. Not for one minute, not for one second.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Yet he was.
- 8:33Speaker 1: And then, when he allegedly tried to kill himself the
- 8:35Speaker 1: first time, he tells the jail and his lawyer that
- 8:39Speaker 1: it was Tartaglione that assaulted him? Only to have the
- 8:43Speaker 1: BOP clear Tartaglione in about, oh, I don't know, 10 minutes,
- 8:48Speaker 1: and let Tartaglione keep it moving. Then, after Tartaglione is
- 8:53Speaker 1: found guilty, he doesn't get the death penalty for killing
- 8:56Speaker 1: four people? The federal death penalty? Right, the fix isn't in.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Everything's on the up and up. Barr told the Associated
- 9:05Speaker 1: Press later that year that he was personally involved in
- 9:08Speaker 1: investigating Epstein's death, specifically that he reviewed security footage from
- 9:12Speaker 1: that night and it said it showed no one entering
- 9:15Speaker 1: the cell that night. The late pedophile died. Well, uh,
- 9:19Speaker 1: what if they were there already? Like I've said before,
- 9:21Speaker 1: we don't know who was in that jail previously.
- 9:25Speaker 2: We have no idea.
- 9:27Speaker 1: So sure, you can run the narrative that nobody went
- 9:30Speaker 1: into the jail cell after a certain time, and you
- 9:32Speaker 1: might be telling the truth. But that's only because somebody
- 9:35Speaker 1: was in there previously. And guess what? A lie of
- 9:39Speaker 1: omission is still a lie. He eventually concluded Epstein did
- 9:43Speaker 1: die by suicide, Barr told the outlet, owing to a
- 9:46Speaker 1: perfect storm of screw-ups at the jail. A perfect storm
- 9:49Speaker 1: of screw-ups at the jail. That has never happened before
- 9:52Speaker 1: with any other inmates. Hasn't happened since. But when we
- 9:56Speaker 1: have somebody in that facility who has the secrets... That all.
- 10:00Speaker 1: damning enough to topple whole ass governments, all of this
- 10:04Speaker 1: happens at once and that person is the person who dies, huh?
- 10:08Speaker 1: When asked if Barr told as much to House investigators
- 10:11Speaker 1: on Monday, Comer declined to speak for the former Attorney General,
- 10:15Speaker 1: but added he believed the general consensus was that Epstein
- 10:19Speaker 1: killed himself with no external foul play. All they're doing
- 10:23Speaker 1: is trying to build the narrative to run protection for
- 10:26Speaker 1: the administration. How can people not understand this? What this
- 10:29Speaker 1: whole entire circus amounts to is trying to give cover
- 10:33Speaker 1: to the administration and say, see, look, this is nothing
- 10:37Speaker 1: more than a giant hoax. But I think it's going
- 10:39Speaker 1: to backfire on them because unlike a lot of the
- 10:42Speaker 1: other bullshit that we've seen, a lot of the other
- 10:44Speaker 1: news that is fake, this is not. and I think
- 10:47Speaker 1: this is a minefield for everybody involved. Barr's testimony is
- 10:53Speaker 1: part of a wider bipartisan investigation into the handling of
- 10:56Speaker 1: Epstein's case, which has also reached several former attorney generals,
- 11:01Speaker 1: FBI directors, and former first couple Bill and Hillary Clinton. Well,
- 11:06Speaker 1: it didn't reach the people that it needed to reach
- 11:08Speaker 1: the most, Alex Acosta, Philippe, Mukasey, Villafana, Menchel, and everybody
- 11:15Speaker 1: else involved. But sure, tell us about this complete investigation
- 11:19Speaker 1: that you're engaging in and all these people that you're
- 11:21Speaker 1: calling up to Congress to give depositions who have nothing
- 11:25Speaker 1: to do with what went on. And here's my prediction.
- 11:28Speaker 1: When all's said and done, they're going to say, see, look,
- 11:30Speaker 1: there's nothing to see here. Everything's on the up and up.
- 11:34Speaker 1: And we're being very transparent with you. Meanwhile, they're going
- 11:37Speaker 1: to say, trust me, bro, we're not going to get
- 11:39Speaker 1: any kind of documentation to back up what they're saying.
- 11:42Speaker 2: And then they'll just move on. just like they did
- 11:45Speaker 2: the first time.
- 11:46Speaker 1: And folks, I'm warning you now, don't expect much to
- 11:49Speaker 1: come from this testimony that any of these people are giving.
- 11:52Speaker 1: We're not going to learn anything. Nobody's going to get
- 11:54Speaker 1: in trouble because of it. And frankly, I highly doubt
- 11:57Speaker 1: we're going to learn anything new. So obviously, we're going
- 12:00Speaker 1: to keep following along and we'll see where it all goes.
- 12:03Speaker 1: But I am less than impressed with day number one.
- 12:08Speaker 1: All of the information that goes with this episode can
- 12:11Speaker 1: be found in the description box.
