- 0:04Speaker 1: Hey, welcome to Off Edge the Pod with your host
- 0:07Speaker 1: me Cam Jordan. I'm I'm super excited because not only
- 0:10Speaker 1: do I gotta get to talk to Og of the game,
- 0:12Speaker 1: legend of the game, if you will, you know, a
- 0:14Speaker 1: Giants legend for sure, one of the great d d ns,
- 0:18Speaker 1: one of the one of the real, one of the
- 0:20Speaker 1: first real hybrids, for real, for real that just plug
- 0:23Speaker 1: and play wherever you could go, pro bowler, all pro.
- 0:26Speaker 1: More importantly, a super Bowl champion, not one time, but
- 0:29Speaker 1: two times. My dog Og legend oco me Europe.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Well, that's a great intro, man, god Lee, I mean,
- 0:39Speaker 2: I wish everybody introduced me like that.
- 0:40Speaker 3: That's incredible, cap. I appreciate it.
- 0:43Speaker 4: I'm not trying to.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I'm not trying to just you know, just give us
- 0:45Speaker 1: flower I'm trying to give flowers to my dog.
- 0:47Speaker 3: You know.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Yes, I'm blessed, you know, I'm blessed to be gainfully employed,
- 0:53Speaker 1: and I'm pissed off that we somehow we tricked off
- 0:55Speaker 1: a game against the Rams last week.
- 0:57Speaker 4: But I'm also motivated, you know.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I hear you this year fifteen for you year
- 1:03Speaker 2: fourteen fourteen, that's crazy, man. I remember us being in Africa. Well,
- 1:08Speaker 2: first of all, we'll probably get to that. But I
- 1:11Speaker 2: have never in my life laughed as hard as that
- 1:16Speaker 2: day when we're in that restaurant and you told me
- 1:18Speaker 2: that story that that was that was the funniest thing
- 1:21Speaker 2: I've ever heard in my life.
- 1:21Speaker 1: But yeah, well we will definitely, we will definitely get
- 1:25Speaker 1: to it. You know, like, oh yeah, if you can't live,
- 1:28Speaker 1: you can't love, Like what's the point of living.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I love.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I love every minute of this life. I may I
- 1:34Speaker 1: tell people, like, the worst time my life may be
- 1:37Speaker 1: you know, a game on.
- 1:38Speaker 4: A Sunday where you don't you don't come out with
- 1:41Speaker 4: the win.
- 1:41Speaker 1: But if that's the worst part of life, yeah, life
- 1:44Speaker 1: is all My people are healthy, you know, Mom's healthy, pops,
- 1:47Speaker 1: healthy kids, healthy wife healthy. At the end of the day,
- 1:50Speaker 1: I don't have to, like really truly worry about anything
- 1:54Speaker 1: that's not out of my plate. Like everything seems to
- 1:56Speaker 1: be in control right now.
- 1:58Speaker 2: So let's let's I'm going to stop you there, because
- 2:00Speaker 2: that's not the worst. The worst isn't losing. The worst
- 2:03Speaker 2: is losing, and you don't get a sack.
- 2:04Speaker 3: That's the defense losing. You don't get a sack.
- 2:11Speaker 2: That's like your you don't you don't know what to
- 2:14Speaker 2: do for yourself for the rest of the week.
- 2:15Speaker 1: But see, that's that's how you focus even on a
- 2:17Speaker 1: wind though if the team wins, you don't get a sack.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I used to be hung like I didn't like, I
- 2:22Speaker 1: didn't eat, Like we won, but I didn't eat.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Yeah, So like everybody's yeah, and I'm like, I'm like.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I stopped the run, but like I also didn't eat
- 2:32Speaker 1: like I thought I was going to. Like, but my
- 2:38Speaker 1: happiness completely shifted a long time ago because you know,
- 2:41Speaker 1: my rookie year, I had.
- 2:42Speaker 4: One one yeah, yeah, right, I was.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Told I wasn't gonna play a run or I wasn't
- 2:49Speaker 1: gonna play the past, you know, so like rookies had
- 2:51Speaker 1: to earn it.
- 2:52Speaker 4: And then ever since then, rookies have been on third down.
- 2:54Speaker 1: So like, you know, like the the ideology, I was
- 2:57Speaker 1: just like born into that old old age of bs,
- 3:01Speaker 1: you know, of the hey, you got to hurt each
- 3:03Speaker 1: and every up, but all a sudden we drop somebody
- 3:05Speaker 1: and they're just thrown in there. Or like you get
- 3:07Speaker 1: a free agent free agent and you just like throw
- 3:09Speaker 1: on the edge like yeah, yeah, he's gonna work. He
- 3:12Speaker 1: doesn't even know our culture, he doesn't know our way,
- 3:14Speaker 1: you know. But again that's it's different. So now I
- 3:18Speaker 1: love I love just winning. I love the idea. In fact,
- 3:21Speaker 1: now I'm a year fourteen, and you know, even I've
- 3:24Speaker 1: even learned again, if the worst sixty minutes I have
- 3:27Speaker 1: is them telling me that they don't need me and
- 3:29Speaker 1: we're gonna, you know, shift the page and sort of
- 3:31Speaker 1: head towards our younger guys, I'm damn near coaching, and
- 3:34Speaker 1: I'm sick that I can't be on the field because
- 3:36Speaker 1: I'm like, as much as I want to play, as
- 3:39Speaker 1: much as I want to work, as much as I
- 3:40Speaker 1: as I know I can be successful at the defensive
- 3:42Speaker 1: n spot, I'm like, yo, I just want to win.
- 3:46Speaker 1: It's one of these wins are more important than the next.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Because I was like, we can create some sort of
- 3:49Speaker 1: a push for playoffs. Let's want a damn super Bowl
- 3:51Speaker 1: because you know, you see how I threw that two
- 3:52Speaker 1: time super Bowl.
- 3:54Speaker 4: Oh you're out there, guess what I don't have next
- 3:56Speaker 4: to my name? It could be all accurate.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Twenty tens, NFL Decade, All Pro Pro Bowl, YadA, YadA, YadA, YadA, YadA, YadA.
- 4:03Speaker 1: But for some reason, super Bowl champion. There's twenty seven
- 4:08Speaker 1: years of Jordan men in the NFL, and guess what
- 4:11Speaker 1: we don't have.
- 4:12Speaker 4: We got a lot of accolades. We don't have the accolades.
- 4:15Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 4:16Speaker 2: I believe that probably at this stage in your life,
- 4:19Speaker 2: in your career, and nothing could probably mean more than
- 4:21Speaker 2: that because you've done everything else.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Let me just I've been to NFC championship game. I
- 4:26Speaker 4: ain't been beyond it.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's that's probably it for you. Man.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Man, I need like I need to know what that
- 4:33Speaker 1: feels like. And and I and I put it up
- 4:35Speaker 1: in the category of like, like, will I consider my
- 4:39Speaker 1: career of failure if I don't win a Bowl? Absolutely not.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I've outshot my coverage. It's like walking around with the
- 4:44Speaker 1: wife when you know you got a ten on your shoulder,
- 4:46Speaker 1: Like it just feel you know what I'm saying, Like
- 4:49Speaker 1: it's not as bad.
- 4:50Speaker 3: You know, Yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 4:53Speaker 2: There's there's no circumstances which you can call your career
- 4:57Speaker 2: like a failure even if you don't win, because that's
- 4:59Speaker 2: people who want super Bowls who ain't really gotten nothing.
- 5:03Speaker 4: Earned any of it.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Exactly what was just not even what excuse a jag like,
- 5:08Speaker 1: wasn't even just a guy?
- 5:09Speaker 4: Was just a guy they hired a couple of weeks ago.
- 5:11Speaker 1: You know, like if you were if you were one
- 5:15Speaker 1: of the guys, and then you have to go like
- 5:17Speaker 1: ring like Super.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Bowl, ring hunting.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Good for you, but also does it hit the same
- 5:21Speaker 1: if all you did was young team, the team, the team,
- 5:23Speaker 1: the team, and finally found.
- 5:24Speaker 3: One, It's not the same.
- 5:29Speaker 2: The whole time team straight up, straight up legendary.
- 5:33Speaker 4: That's what I'm like.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I said, I've got so much loyalty towards the franchise.
- 5:36Speaker 1: It doesn't matter if the franchise kicked me out tomorrow,
- 5:38Speaker 1: I'd still have love for the franchise.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Like would you play somewhere else?
- 5:42Speaker 1: I've thought about it like four or five times over
- 5:45Speaker 1: the years.
- 5:45Speaker 4: I was like, oh, I can touch for agency. I've
- 5:47Speaker 4: never won. I've never touched for agency.
- 5:49Speaker 1: I've never had a year where I didn't have guaranteed
- 5:52Speaker 1: money in it. I've never played without guaranteed money. That's
- 5:55Speaker 1: enough loyalty for me. Like my family good, my life good,
- 5:58Speaker 1: my kids kids will be mm hmm. I'm out in
- 6:02Speaker 1: the community daily, like you're out of the community and
- 6:04Speaker 1: in Africa trying to create the I p P. Which yea,
- 6:07Speaker 1: let's let's get into it because I'm getting I'm getting
- 6:09Speaker 1: more on me and less on you, and you're you're
- 6:10Speaker 1: the legend that we're bringing in. You know, like, uh,
- 6:14Speaker 1: we hung out in Africa. You know, uh that this
- 6:18Speaker 1: pass off season two years ago, this passive season. Yeah,
- 6:22Speaker 1: that's offseason. That's how you know time. Time is just
- 6:26Speaker 1: a flat line. For me, It's not a circle, it's
- 6:29Speaker 1: straight linear. I'm just like, yeah, happened yesterday a week ago. Okay,
- 6:32Speaker 1: my bad. But you know, we we shot that Born
- 6:35Speaker 1: a Place Who Bo commercial out in Akra, Ghana, which
- 6:38Speaker 1: I've already called Acra until I got there and it
- 6:40Speaker 1: then became a craw which which just tells you Americans
- 6:45Speaker 1: have been wrong about everything for so long. But what
- 6:48Speaker 1: was your favorite movement A moment about shooting the Born
- 6:51Speaker 1: to Play campaign?
- 6:53Speaker 3: Wow?
- 6:54Speaker 2: I think overall it was just you know, seeing you
- 6:59Speaker 2: guys there, you know, like seeing you Saquan Jefferson, Like
- 7:05Speaker 2: understanding what the idea behind the NFL Africa was and
- 7:09Speaker 2: that connection that was trying to be forged, and then
- 7:12Speaker 2: just seeing it come to reality like that like, never,
- 7:14Speaker 2: in my mind whatever, imagine that the biggest names in
- 7:18Speaker 2: the NFL would have been shooting a commercial in the
- 7:21Speaker 2: middle of a markets in Ghana, You understand what I mean.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Like the absurdity of that, you know, never would have
- 7:29Speaker 2: crossed my mind where we began the whole program. So
- 7:31Speaker 2: just seeing you guys there, seeing you guys connect with
- 7:35Speaker 2: your heritage where you're really from, understanding what was really
- 7:39Speaker 2: going on, seeing the way people were looking at you,
- 7:41Speaker 2: to me, that was the most special thing.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Man.
- 7:43Speaker 2: It's something that I always wanted. I didn't know how
- 7:46Speaker 2: I was gonna make that happen.
- 7:47Speaker 3: You know.
- 7:47Speaker 2: We started with just the African players, and then you know,
- 7:51Speaker 2: we started to see more and more American people were like, hey, listen,
- 7:54Speaker 2: I want to I want to be a part of this.
- 7:56Speaker 2: I want to understand what's going on. And you know,
- 7:59Speaker 2: seeing more people grab take towards that, which was the
- 8:01Speaker 2: original idea, was just mind blowing for me.
- 8:04Speaker 3: And that was the part, the best part.
- 8:06Speaker 4: For me absolutely.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I mean, you know, I got to I got to gone,
- 8:10Speaker 1: and I was like, yeah, I see you all at
- 8:12Speaker 1: this hotel, but I'm in the streets, like I was walking,
- 8:14Speaker 1: I was walking in the marketplaces and walking like I
- 8:17Speaker 1: was going places doing you know.
- 8:19Speaker 2: You're a boy cam like, bro, yeah, cam is in
- 8:25Speaker 2: the streets.
- 8:25Speaker 3: I'm like, bro, you're in.
- 8:26Speaker 4: The I'm in there and I'm in this.
- 8:30Speaker 1: You hit me. Was like, was like, hey man, this
- 8:31Speaker 1: is not like it's not like you can't just walk
- 8:33Speaker 1: away and walk around here. I was like, man, look,
- 8:36Speaker 1: I was like, to be clear, I feel so.
- 8:37Speaker 4: At home here.
- 8:38Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I look across the way and brother brother called me
- 8:42Speaker 1: light skin, you know what I'm saying. Like, I'm like,
- 8:44Speaker 1: I'm walking, I'm vibing. The old ladies is all hitting
- 8:47Speaker 1: on me. You know, they hit me with that big
- 8:50Speaker 1: back activities. I'm like a Mary Sweetheart, no home, but
- 8:55Speaker 1: you know, like just just enjoying the culture.
- 8:57Speaker 5: Bro.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Just I love anytimes like I've hit Africa, I just
- 9:01Speaker 1: feel like I'm good there, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 9:04Speaker 1: and I've probably got a false sense reality because I'm
- 9:06Speaker 1: just walking around like, yeah, these are my people, you know,
- 9:09Speaker 1: whether it's been Egypt, whether it's been Ghana, Liberia. You know,
- 9:12Speaker 1: the more Africa that I see, it's just like the
- 9:14Speaker 1: more I feel like, you know, when you walk around
- 9:16Speaker 1: and you know, all the owners, all the whatever is
- 9:19Speaker 1: history that you may have a part of, like you know,
- 9:22Speaker 1: you do the twenty three and me and I'm like,
- 9:23Speaker 1: oh you got Nigerian and and I recoach YadA YadA,
- 9:26Speaker 1: and I'm like, hell yeah, you know mother Lancetrong.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Yep.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Because you know that's like to be To be completely honest,
- 9:34Speaker 2: the understated part of NFL Africa was that is that
- 9:39Speaker 2: there's a connection that has been broken so many years ago,
- 9:43Speaker 2: you know, and I feel like there's a misunderstanding between
- 9:48Speaker 2: those two people and just now you're starting to see
- 9:50Speaker 2: that connection be re established and come back together. And
- 9:54Speaker 2: I have to be I love to see it, man.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Like to me, I was just in awe, Like when
- 9:58Speaker 2: I would watch you and I was just looking in
- 10:01Speaker 2: my head. I was like, man, this is this is
- 10:03Speaker 2: so cool. Look at what sports What sports can do,
- 10:05Speaker 2: you know what I mean? Like, look at what sports
- 10:07Speaker 2: can can do bring people back together like this man,
- 10:10Speaker 2: and having you in that environment and having all you
- 10:13Speaker 2: guys in that environment, man, the most special part of
- 10:15Speaker 2: everything for.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Me, Man, legendary vibes. And then you look, you took
- 10:20Speaker 1: me to you took me to a food spot. You're like,
- 10:22Speaker 1: you know, you know, you got me off the streets
- 10:23Speaker 1: for real. I was just rocking roaming. I went to
- 10:25Speaker 1: the beach, I went to like some other stuff. They're like, hey,
- 10:27Speaker 1: it's not so safe for there. I was like, well,
- 10:29Speaker 1: I don't know where I'm I was like, I've been.
- 10:30Speaker 1: I've been as far as the fruvelas in Brazil and
- 10:33Speaker 1: theods from California to New York. I don't really care
- 10:36Speaker 1: if they've got great food. I'm going big back activities
- 10:39Speaker 1: all time. But you took me to this whole and
- 10:40Speaker 1: wall spot. You're like, no, this is like You're like, yokam,
- 10:43Speaker 1: this is a place. Now, it's not gonna have the
- 10:46Speaker 1: highest You like, there might be a hole. Bro. We
- 10:49Speaker 1: got in there and there's literally holes at the ceiling.
- 10:52Speaker 1: They have plastic containers catching the free fall dripping whatever,
- 10:56Speaker 1: the water dripping down. But that food was fire Oh good?
- 11:01Speaker 3: Or is it? How good was that food?
- 11:02Speaker 5: Bro?
- 11:03Speaker 1: And you're like you're like, no, Bro, this sauce is
- 11:05Speaker 1: not like America sauce is just like, this sauce is hot.
- 11:08Speaker 1: I was like, man, please, I'm in merry and hey,
- 11:10Speaker 1: I'm eating the green sauce over all a big job
- 11:13Speaker 1: of guy.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Yeaes sir absolutely, man that it's important that when you
- 11:18Speaker 2: go to Africa, you just don't go to like the
- 11:20Speaker 2: tourist spots, like you go see like really what Africa
- 11:24Speaker 2: is about, right and taking you to that type of
- 11:26Speaker 2: restaurant where it's not a glitzy, glamorous type of spot.
- 11:30Speaker 2: It's yeah, a hole in the wall, but you've got
- 11:32Speaker 2: to really experience what Africa was like. And you saw it.
- 11:35Speaker 2: The food was incredible, you experienced it. We got out
- 11:38Speaker 2: of there, no doubt.
- 11:39Speaker 4: He great times.
- 11:40Speaker 1: I was like, I gotta go back to We're not
- 11:43Speaker 1: gonna talk about you know, we're gonna we're gonna find
- 11:46Speaker 1: out from the top to the bottom. I didn't even
- 11:49Speaker 1: know what the culture is about, all right, but anyways,
- 11:51Speaker 1: let's uh, let's talk about me. You know you're Nigerian, Nigerian,
- 11:57Speaker 1: you know, born in London, still got a British accent
- 11:59Speaker 1: at times. Yeah, move to Alabama, which I didn't catch
- 12:04Speaker 1: that southern draw from you. But you know was how
- 12:07Speaker 1: was the multicultural upbringing that you have helped you shape?
- 12:10Speaker 1: Like how you wanted to expand the football, the game
- 12:13Speaker 1: of football, so.
- 12:16Speaker 2: You see, my whole life experience actually taught me so
- 12:21Speaker 2: many different things, especially about the game. I think being
- 12:23Speaker 2: born in London where nobody knew anything about football when
- 12:26Speaker 2: I was back then in eighty one, then moved to Nigeria,
- 12:29Speaker 2: nobody knew anything about football, and getting to Alabama, which
- 12:33Speaker 2: was crazy. Imagine going from Nigeria, you know, to Alabama,
- 12:37Speaker 2: the Deep South.
- 12:38Speaker 3: That was bizarre.
- 12:40Speaker 2: But then I started to play the game, and what
- 12:43Speaker 2: I realized was in Nigeria, I wasn't one of the
- 12:47Speaker 2: top athletes there. Like I just wasn't. There's so many
- 12:50Speaker 2: people who had much more athleticism. There were better athletes
- 12:53Speaker 2: than me. But as soon as I got to America,
- 12:54Speaker 2: for whatever reason, I became a pretty good athlete, and
- 12:58Speaker 2: I said, well, this game right here gave me the
- 13:01Speaker 2: opportunity to get an education, you know. Then from there
- 13:04Speaker 2: go into the NFL and make all this money, and
- 13:06Speaker 2: everybody's trying to do all these different charities, and they're
- 13:09Speaker 2: trying to do all these different things. In Africa, it's like, well,
- 13:12Speaker 2: we have this amazing resource, these incredible athletes, and nobody's
- 13:16Speaker 2: given them an opportunity.
- 13:17Speaker 3: So rather than.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Doing charity the way people usually do. Why don't we
- 13:21Speaker 2: do it a different way. Why don't we use this game,
- 13:24Speaker 2: which is American football to give the people, those incredible
- 13:27Speaker 2: athletes opportunities that are you know, ordinarily they wouldn't have.
- 13:31Speaker 2: And that was the whole idea behind the NFL Africa program.
- 13:35Speaker 2: We have I think it's like six players now in
- 13:37Speaker 2: the NFL. We have a couple in college, some of
- 13:40Speaker 2: the NFL Academy here in the UK. So it's just
- 13:42Speaker 2: really a program of utilizing what they have there to
- 13:46Speaker 2: give them opportunities. You know, it's not just oh, we're
- 13:49Speaker 2: going to do charity, we're going to do this, we're
- 13:51Speaker 2: going to build Well, no, these guys have incredible athletic ability.
- 13:55Speaker 2: These guys have the ability to do things that can
- 13:58Speaker 2: actually help to teams. They can help colleges, they can
- 14:01Speaker 2: help you know, the NFL academy. Okay, cool, Well they're
- 14:03Speaker 2: going to get education, they're gonna.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Make some money. People who are on the streets that.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Are currently in the NFL, they're sitting in the same
- 14:11Speaker 2: mean room as you imagine like somebody being like you
- 14:15Speaker 2: know the places that we saw them in Ghana just
- 14:18Speaker 2: out there and then like a month later you know,
- 14:20Speaker 2: they're in the NFL and in training camp, they're training,
- 14:23Speaker 2: they're getting prepared for football, like you know, the mind
- 14:27Speaker 2: mess that that does, and and just seeing things like
- 14:29Speaker 2: that happen, there's really nothing quite like it.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Hell, bro, my stunt double was bigger than me. You like,
- 14:37Speaker 1: you was super swollen, and I was like, what do
- 14:39Speaker 1: any stuff double before? But I was like, yo, also
- 14:41Speaker 1: come play nose tackle for me, you know, like yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 14:46Speaker 1: just put this double team. You were built for this
- 14:49Speaker 1: and you didn't even know it like this. That's one
- 14:52Speaker 1: of the crazyest scenes is like watching kids, you know,
- 14:55Speaker 1: go go beachside and uh in Ghana watching them play soccer,
- 14:59Speaker 1: you know, for for football, and like and how athletic
- 15:02Speaker 1: they are and just like it looks like they're running
- 15:04Speaker 1: on top of the sand, you know, like little speakers.
- 15:07Speaker 1: And I was I was jogging on the beach getting
- 15:09Speaker 1: my little cardio in. These kids are rolling. I was like, bro,
- 15:13Speaker 1: they're athletes everywhere, but they're better focuses, you know, on
- 15:16Speaker 1: a on a primarily non contact sport.
- 15:19Speaker 4: Where come plain wide receiver, big dog.
- 15:21Speaker 1: I was like, I see you, I see you rolling,
- 15:24Speaker 1: you know, like you could you could probably hold your
- 15:26Speaker 1: own in a little seven, you know.
- 15:28Speaker 2: But yeah, that's that's that's something that's really what that
- 15:32Speaker 2: was about. That's what we've been doing, and you know,
- 15:34Speaker 2: thank me, the NFL got behind it. It's it's it's
- 15:38Speaker 2: been incredible.
- 15:39Speaker 3: You know.
- 15:39Speaker 2: I wish you know, I know you traveled to Africa a lot.
- 15:42Speaker 2: I hope like along these next trips when we do
- 15:44Speaker 2: another one of these camps where we're going to go
- 15:46Speaker 2: get these athletes camp, I want you to just come
- 15:49Speaker 2: and I want you to see where these guys are training.
- 15:52Speaker 2: You see them practicing, You like, okay, cool, other guy.
- 15:54Speaker 2: I don't know about this guy. You know, he's got
- 15:56Speaker 2: the size, he looks athletic. And then you know a
- 16:01Speaker 2: month later he's in your camp. He's literally your train
- 16:05Speaker 2: in your meal room, going through the same things you're
- 16:07Speaker 2: going through, and you're like, how is this even possible? Man?
- 16:10Speaker 2: And a lot of the guys who've been through to
- 16:12Speaker 2: the camps, they've actually seen that. Some of them are
- 16:14Speaker 2: on teams now in Cleveland with guys who recruited them.
- 16:17Speaker 2: You know, we got guys who are you know, in
- 16:19Speaker 2: different football teams, and the NFL players were there when
- 16:24Speaker 2: they saw them first. And then a year later they're
- 16:27Speaker 2: sitting next to them in their stadium or in their
- 16:30Speaker 2: practice facility getting ready for games.
- 16:32Speaker 3: It's it's crazy, no doubt.
- 16:34Speaker 4: I mean just the assurd.
- 16:36Speaker 1: In fact, tell Hard Knocks to call us bro like
- 16:38Speaker 1: they got hard Knocks and they look at they looking
- 16:41Speaker 1: at the one specific team. But part of we could
- 16:43Speaker 1: extend the hard Knocks out to like the international level
- 16:45Speaker 1: of like, hey, this guy's been killing it, working it.
- 16:48Speaker 4: Guess what, you know.
- 16:49Speaker 1: He's going to get this invite to this team, just
- 16:52Speaker 1: trying to camp, just see if it shakes.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Yeah, imagine that story.
- 16:56Speaker 4: The match is just just the story alone.
- 16:58Speaker 1: So you're talking about the but that's all for part
- 17:00Speaker 1: of the I p P program right.
- 17:04Speaker 4: Pathway.
- 17:05Speaker 1: You know, Yeah, I when I was uh you know,
- 17:09Speaker 1: years ago, not years ag because he's still in the league.
- 17:11Speaker 4: But David On Yamata came from Nigeria. In Nigeria, you know, just.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Monster d tackle for the Saints and then once he
- 17:19Speaker 1: went to the trash Birds, I mean dirty bird Falcons.
- 17:23Speaker 4: You know it's different, but.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Monster, monster of a human being, great guy, great player,
- 17:28Speaker 1: and just you hear his story, he's like, yeah, you
- 17:30Speaker 1: used to have to go to the bush and come
- 17:31Speaker 1: from America. I was like, what is this bush? Yeah,
- 17:34Speaker 1: so actual bush? Are you going to a brush? Are
- 17:37Speaker 1: you going to? Yeah, like literal jungle. And it was like, yeah,
- 17:40Speaker 1: we have bush me what is bush meet?
- 17:41Speaker 3: Like?
- 17:43Speaker 4: Whatever you catch in the.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Bush, whatever, You're going to this jungle? He goat deer, monkey, whatever, armadillo?
- 17:51Speaker 1: What what rabbit? Whatever?
- 17:53Speaker 4: This bush meet? Can tall?
- 17:54Speaker 1: You like, you're just You're just throw it in the
- 17:56Speaker 1: stew and you're going get some food food you calling
- 17:58Speaker 1: it today?
- 17:59Speaker 3: This man, it's a different life.
- 18:01Speaker 4: It's different life, completely different life. You hear that.
- 18:03Speaker 1: It's like you just I'm just like, I'm glad I
- 18:05Speaker 1: never had to go get my own food. You know,
- 18:18Speaker 1: what would you consider the biggest culture shock going from
- 18:21Speaker 1: like a even London, you know, Nigeria, but you take
- 18:25Speaker 1: your you take your behind on to Alabama, Bama, roll
- 18:30Speaker 1: tie Rollbama.
- 18:32Speaker 4: Really you were you were more like war Eagle Obama.
- 18:34Speaker 2: But oh yeah, but there's a lot, there's a lot
- 18:39Speaker 2: to impact there. There's a lot to impact there because
- 18:42Speaker 2: you know, when I was in Nigeria, people would bring
- 18:47Speaker 2: back like tapes from America and so they would bring
- 18:50Speaker 2: back like it would be The Cosby Show, it'd be
- 18:53Speaker 2: The Fresh Prince of bel Air, it'd be Beverly Hills
- 18:56Speaker 2: nine o two on Oh, it'd be Baywatch.
- 18:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:58Speaker 2: So my idea of America was that you understand what.
- 19:05Speaker 3: That's what I.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Thought America was. And so I remember if I got
- 19:10Speaker 2: on the plane, my dad told me. He was like, hey, listen,
- 19:13Speaker 2: you're going to a very dangerous part of America. And
- 19:19Speaker 2: in mind, I couldn't. I was like, what is he
- 19:21Speaker 2: What do you mean by you're going to America doesn't
- 19:23Speaker 2: have dangerous places, it's you know, it's Bentley Hill's Nihill
- 19:26Speaker 2: to one. Oh. And what he didn't tell me was
- 19:30Speaker 2: I was going to live in Section eight housing in
- 19:32Speaker 2: the projects in Alabama.
- 19:35Speaker 3: Right. Yeah.
- 19:37Speaker 2: So we go from Nigeria, where we're thinking America is
- 19:42Speaker 2: one way, and I get to not only America, but
- 19:47Speaker 2: I get to the south of America and I get
- 19:50Speaker 2: to Alabama Section eight, you know, right in the middle
- 19:53Speaker 2: of Oak Rage housing projects, and my mind was completely blown.
- 19:57Speaker 2: I never I couldn't even imagine what it was that
- 20:00Speaker 2: I was seeing. I didn't understand the way they were talking,
- 20:03Speaker 2: I didn't understand the way they dressed, and I just
- 20:07Speaker 2: I didn't know, you know, America was like that.
- 20:09Speaker 1: You know, so, oh see the son of a king
- 20:12Speaker 1: in Nigeria, the prince prince oci Section eight housing, real
- 20:17Speaker 1: coming to America type stuff.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Like but that's really, that's really you know a lot
- 20:22Speaker 2: of people don't really know this, but that's really what happened. Like,
- 20:25Speaker 2: it's really what happened. Like my father like he would
- 20:28Speaker 2: you know, he was he was the king of our village.
- 20:30Speaker 2: And so that was I would say coming to America
- 20:33Speaker 2: was an exaggerated version of our lives, but it was
- 20:36Speaker 2: it was similar, you understand, And so you leave that
- 20:39Speaker 2: and you you come to Section eight housing, and in
- 20:44Speaker 2: all being Alabama, it was it was bizarre.
- 20:46Speaker 3: And so we had to navigate our way through that.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Everybody know you and care about you and like what
- 20:54Speaker 1: you know, village protectors to hey, man, don't give a
- 20:57Speaker 1: damn about you.
- 20:58Speaker 4: Let b find the first guy met.
- 21:03Speaker 3: I'll never forget this.
- 21:04Speaker 2: And I got to school and I told him I
- 21:07Speaker 2: was from Nigeria and he was like, oh, how did
- 21:10Speaker 2: you get here? I was like, well, we flew. He
- 21:13Speaker 2: was like you flew?
- 21:14Speaker 3: What do you mean?
- 21:15Speaker 2: They ain't got planes over there? You came over here
- 21:17Speaker 2: on a whale, and I thought it was joking.
- 21:24Speaker 3: He was joking.
- 21:25Speaker 2: He couldn't understand that, you know, we could actually fly
- 21:29Speaker 2: to America because in Africa we didn't have any.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Of these things. So it was third that was crazy, bro, crazy.
- 21:36Speaker 1: But also Alabama, you know, like, come on, education South,
- 21:42Speaker 1: it's it's a thing.
- 21:44Speaker 2: It's different there. But then also some of the nicest people,
- 21:49Speaker 2: you know, that's Southern charm, Southern aspects.
- 21:51Speaker 3: That's a real that's a real thing too.
- 21:53Speaker 2: So they have some of the nicest, you know, most generous,
- 21:57Speaker 2: you know people, and and you know, once I outed
- 22:00Speaker 2: to play football, I started to you know, make friends
- 22:03Speaker 2: and all that good stuff, and then everything just starts
- 22:05Speaker 2: to roll from there. And you know, some of my
- 22:07Speaker 2: best friends are you know, they're from there. But it's
- 22:10Speaker 2: initially that shock was.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Crazy.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Come from come from the West coast, the southern the
- 22:17Speaker 1: Southern shock is real. You're like, oh, oh.
- 22:21Speaker 4: Like is this the nineties?
- 22:23Speaker 1: Like why why do you feel like everything's a little
- 22:26Speaker 1: bit outdated?
- 22:26Speaker 4: Know what do you mean?
- 22:27Speaker 3: Yeah, Okay, it's crazy.
- 22:30Speaker 1: I mean the transition alone from New Orleans from twenty
- 22:32Speaker 1: eleven to twenty twenty something has been outstanding, Like I
- 22:35Speaker 1: can only imagine.
- 22:35Speaker 4: What it was like in Bama.
- 22:37Speaker 3: God Damgnya Bama.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but you like it, love it, love.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Or do nobody come down? And I don't know why.
- 22:46Speaker 1: I mean because you used to come with the Giants.
- 22:48Speaker 1: So anybody, anybody that was part of the Ops is
- 22:50Speaker 1: the Ops. You know, like you you live here, they
- 22:54Speaker 1: love you, you play for here, like they're they're willing
- 22:57Speaker 1: to go out their way for you.
- 22:59Speaker 4: And you know, it's it's unlike.
- 23:01Speaker 1: New York, Like New York's always feels double edged, like
- 23:03Speaker 1: even when they like you, you feel like they're ready
- 23:05Speaker 1: to stab you in the back. Like here, guys, he's
- 23:11Speaker 1: Coasters man. You never you never really know where you
- 23:15Speaker 1: stand with him. You're like, you know you might die,
- 23:17Speaker 1: but you're also not their guy. You know.
- 23:21Speaker 2: You know what I didn't know because you know, I
- 23:23Speaker 2: played I played my final two seasons in Atlanta with
- 23:27Speaker 2: the Falcons.
- 23:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:29Speaker 2: I don't think a lot of people understand that Falcons
- 23:33Speaker 2: and they don't. They don't understand what's going on there, man, Like,
- 23:36Speaker 2: can you explain?
- 23:37Speaker 3: Can you do your best to explain to me what
- 23:39Speaker 3: what is that?
- 23:40Speaker 4: I don't know?
- 23:41Speaker 1: Our city is better than ours, Like it's a it's
- 23:44Speaker 1: a it's a city vers city honestly situation, you know,
- 23:49Speaker 1: which is crazy because uh, in the NFL, like the
- 23:54Speaker 1: Giants have people that they dislike, but the whole conference,
- 23:57Speaker 1: Like Giants don't like Philly, but Philly doesn't like you know, cowboys.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Cowboys don't like and y'all sort of don't sort of
- 24:03Speaker 1: okay with the Washington Commanders but don't like them, you know,
- 24:11Speaker 1: but like for for for our conference, like you know,
- 24:14Speaker 1: so the same thing with the AFC North, Like they're like, oh,
- 24:17Speaker 1: we don't like the Steelers, don't like the Bengals, and
- 24:20Speaker 1: the Bengals don't like the Ravens. Like everybody has this
- 24:22Speaker 1: interchangeable hate. You know, it's very directed. Atlanta doesn't like
- 24:28Speaker 1: New Orleans, and you know what, the energy is returned.
- 24:31Speaker 4: New Orleans doesn't like Atlanta.
- 24:33Speaker 1: The Saints don't I hate, you know, I hate Falcons players,
- 24:38Speaker 1: you know, teammates that go over there.
- 24:39Speaker 4: I just feel like they're traitorous. Coaches go over there.
- 24:42Speaker 4: I'm like, how did you choose lesser?
- 24:43Speaker 5: You know?
- 24:44Speaker 1: It's I mean, like even though yeah, there's so many
- 24:47Speaker 1: similarities and yet there isn't you know, a Falcon can
- 24:52Speaker 1: never be a saint, you know, m.
- 24:55Speaker 3: That's that's that is a real Yeah. I didn't. I
- 24:58Speaker 3: didn't understand it.
- 25:00Speaker 2: When I got there, I was like, why are they
- 25:01Speaker 2: so why are they so angry?
- 25:04Speaker 1: So this is this is different because you feel you
- 25:08Speaker 1: feel the evil energy where you're walking there.
- 25:11Speaker 4: Lock the gates behind them. When we get done beating
- 25:13Speaker 4: your behind, then you can leave.
- 25:17Speaker 1: There's been there's been years where we've flown in Atlanta
- 25:19Speaker 1: and they egged the buses like that's where like I love.
- 25:23Speaker 4: It, I love it. I love to hate them.
- 25:26Speaker 1: You know I was saying talking about football just in general,
- 25:32Speaker 1: like you know, how was I was leaving from one
- 25:34Speaker 1: team to another because I've never done it. You go
- 25:36Speaker 1: to from like when Super Bowls and Giants going to
- 25:39Speaker 1: trash Atlanta. Uh yeah, Okay, the city is nice. I
- 25:47Speaker 1: do enjoy Atlanta, but the Falcons they're not even in
- 25:51Speaker 1: They're not even in Atlanta anymore. They're like they took
- 25:55Speaker 1: they took right. There was the New Orleans super Dome,
- 25:58Speaker 1: which was was at the time when the Mercedes been
- 26:00Speaker 1: super Dome and can Atlanta couldn't you know, they couldn't
- 26:04Speaker 1: emulate what a Super Bowl ring looked like so many
- 26:07Speaker 1: they became. They became the Mercedes Ben sup Super domb.
- 26:11Speaker 2: You got so many different variations of insults. You got
- 26:17Speaker 2: just yeah, a plethora.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Absolutely, I've been here for fourteen years. The bag is
- 26:23Speaker 1: not getting lighter, you know.
- 26:25Speaker 3: Man, I hear you so I al would say this.
- 26:28Speaker 2: It's I because I lived in Atlanta my whole career,
- 26:32Speaker 2: even when I was playing with New York, Like, Atlanta
- 26:34Speaker 2: is my off season home. My parents lived there before.
- 26:37Speaker 2: When I was in school, they were living in Atlanta,
- 26:39Speaker 2: so Atlanta was where so it was almost like coming
- 26:41Speaker 2: home right in that sense. But oddly enough, you know,
- 26:46Speaker 2: I didn't know that I wasn't a great player until
- 26:50Speaker 2: I got to Atlanta.
- 26:51Speaker 3: That's that's when I knew that I wasn't a great player.
- 26:56Speaker 3: No no, no, no, no.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Cap The entire time I was in New York, I
- 27:00Speaker 2: thought I was the best defensive end in football.
- 27:04Speaker 3: I thought that I did. In my head. I was like,
- 27:07Speaker 3: I'm the best defensive end in football. As you have
- 27:10Speaker 3: to think, right, and.
- 27:13Speaker 2: You know, because you're having a lot of success, but
- 27:15Speaker 2: you don't really account for the other dogs who I
- 27:19Speaker 2: had with me.
- 27:20Speaker 3: You understand, who made my job so much easier, just to.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Straight hand JP Interior, Robbins Cofield like lin Val, like
- 27:33Speaker 2: killers and so you know, you're doing all this stuff
- 27:37Speaker 2: in New York and then I was, yeah, I'm there.
- 27:41Speaker 2: Then I get to Atlanta and them dudes ain't there,
- 27:44Speaker 2: and that level of success could have replicated.
- 27:48Speaker 6: I was like, oh, okay, I'm good. I was a
- 27:51Speaker 6: good player. The great players. The great players could replicate
- 27:57Speaker 6: success anyway anywhere.
- 27:59Speaker 3: That's just a fact.
- 28:00Speaker 2: And leaving New York, to me, it was something that
- 28:05Speaker 2: had to be done.
- 28:07Speaker 3: You know.
- 28:08Speaker 2: I enjoyed my years in Atlanta. I did the great people,
- 28:12Speaker 2: great great organization. But that's when I found out that
- 28:15Speaker 2: I wasn't the greatest defensive end in football. I found
- 28:17Speaker 2: it out there.
- 28:18Speaker 1: That's what you can I mean, speaking of guys moving
- 28:20Speaker 1: in there, what do you think about like, you know,
- 28:23Speaker 1: like there's some giant Philadelphia hate. What do you think
- 28:25Speaker 1: about Saint Quan going from the Giants to Philly?
- 28:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, of course, of course you know where
- 28:34Speaker 2: we were in in Ghana. I spoke to Saquan and
- 28:39Speaker 2: I pulled him aside. I spoke to him and his
- 28:40Speaker 2: father and I was like listen, there's only two players
- 28:44Speaker 2: who I've told not to leave New York. I told Odell, yeah,
- 28:48Speaker 2: don't leave New York. And then you know, when I
- 28:52Speaker 2: ran into him, he was like, well he didn't want
- 28:54Speaker 2: to leave. They kind of forced him out. So he
- 28:56Speaker 2: didn't really want to leave New York, but he forced
- 28:58Speaker 2: him out.
- 28:58Speaker 1: So Bowl champion Odell Beckham, Yeah, yeah, exactly, you kicked
- 29:02Speaker 1: me out.
- 29:04Speaker 3: Exactly right now.
- 29:08Speaker 2: I still think his career, even though he want to ring,
- 29:10Speaker 2: I think Odell in New York was that's a that's
- 29:12Speaker 2: different gravy bro. That's just that was. That was a movement. Yeah,
- 29:16Speaker 2: you understand what I mean. He was a different level
- 29:19Speaker 2: of star in New York than than we've seen.
- 29:23Speaker 4: Right, baby Baby Deity for sure.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Oh that was that was that was an incredible time
- 29:28Speaker 2: for him. And so that that I think I was
- 29:30Speaker 2: kind of correcting him not wanting to leave New York.
- 29:33Speaker 3: Now. I spoke to Sau. I was like, listen, don't
- 29:37Speaker 3: don't do this, you know, new York, because I you.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Know, I had left New York and you know it
- 29:43Speaker 2: didn't work out. And at that point in time, I
- 29:45Speaker 2: hadn't really seen people who left New York that went
- 29:47Speaker 2: on to have real success. So I was like, yeah,
- 29:50Speaker 2: don't do that, And I got to tell you all
- 29:52Speaker 2: was wrong. Yeah, he didn't take my advice, Cam and he's.
- 29:59Speaker 3: A to be the MVP. Man.
- 30:01Speaker 4: There we go. That's all it's gonna say.
- 30:02Speaker 3: Say ridiculous, ridiculous.
- 30:04Speaker 4: It ain't been.
- 30:05Speaker 1: It ain't been a running back as MVP in years,
- 30:08Speaker 1: a decade, decades. I don't know what that is, but
- 30:11Speaker 1: it feels like it's very quarterback or or wide receiver
- 30:14Speaker 1: at bast and yet here we are.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Like this, like did you see the backwards hurt? Like
- 30:21Speaker 2: what what was that?
- 30:21Speaker 1: I mean they added in in Madden bro like the
- 30:24Speaker 1: backward hurdle, and you you get excited when you know
- 30:27Speaker 1: it said top ten highlight when somebody hurdles over somebody,
- 30:30Speaker 1: he goes, he goes backwards, and then get yeah, yeah
- 30:33Speaker 1: he's going absolutely federal.
- 30:36Speaker 4: You know Eagles. Then go ahead, and you know.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Just thinking about the Eagles, Now Sae Kwon goes over.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Now you know he's he's probably a MVP favorite. They
- 30:47Speaker 1: beat they beat the Ravens, Does that prove that they're
- 30:51Speaker 1: contender worthy?
- 30:52Speaker 3: Now? Definitely, would you say there a favorite? I would
- 30:58Speaker 3: say that in the in the NFC.
- 31:00Speaker 4: Okay, best team in the NFC.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Detroit Detroit is Detroit is a superb team also, but
- 31:06Speaker 2: I believe Philly can beat Detroit. So in the NFC,
- 31:09Speaker 2: you have to you have to put them when you
- 31:10Speaker 2: look at the way that roster's constructed, that offensive line
- 31:13Speaker 2: dominance right, their running game, their defense is playing well,
- 31:17Speaker 2: they have received they can beat you in every way,
- 31:19Speaker 2: so that there's really no way that you can look
- 31:21Speaker 2: at Philly and be like, Okay, you know this is
- 31:23Speaker 2: a team unless the quarterback struggles and they're lightning the
- 31:26Speaker 2: load off of him with that running game, So it's
- 31:30Speaker 2: got They're gonna be a tough out in the NFC.
- 31:32Speaker 2: I would say that probably, you know, if not number one,
- 31:35Speaker 2: that one beat definitely.
- 31:36Speaker 3: M m.
- 31:39Speaker 4: All right, let's let's take this back out of your career.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Is there a single game that you can, like, you
- 31:44Speaker 1: can highlight that you black man, that was my best game.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Ever, best game ever, So I had We're playing against Philly.
- 31:53Speaker 2: I had six acts in the game in Philly.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Before I got to the league. I remember that though
- 31:57Speaker 1: I was in college. Yeah yeah, oh seven yeah, so.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Six sacks in the game. But that that wasn't I
- 32:05Speaker 2: don't think that was my best game.
- 32:06Speaker 4: Six sacks was in your best game? You know?
- 32:08Speaker 1: You pass rushers only quantify sacks, like, yeah, yo, y'all
- 32:13Speaker 1: do't y'all would be like, oh, I had fourteen tackles,
- 32:15Speaker 1: like there was a there was a game I had fourteen.
- 32:16Speaker 1: I was like, really him, like you only had you
- 32:19Speaker 1: only had a half sack. I have fourteen tackles. I
- 32:21Speaker 1: was everywhere anyways, but six six sacs? Why why is
- 32:27Speaker 1: that not your Why is that not your best game?
- 32:29Speaker 2: Because and I got to the quarterback a total of
- 32:33Speaker 2: eight times.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Cy clip, you know what I mean?
- 32:38Speaker 4: Eight times six sacks.
- 32:39Speaker 2: I love the outcomes, right, So, but that's that's what
- 32:42Speaker 2: you call like an anomaly that that doesn't happen a
- 32:45Speaker 2: lot of times. You get to the quarterback eight nine times,
- 32:47Speaker 2: you might walk away with one and a.
- 32:48Speaker 3: Half two, you know what I mean?
- 32:51Speaker 2: Yeah, so every time I got back there was a sack. Now,
- 32:54Speaker 2: we played against Carolina it was in two thousand and six,
- 32:58Speaker 2: actually six and I hit the quarterback thirteen times. Not
- 33:04Speaker 2: precious thirteen quarterback hits, zero sacks, right, But to me,
- 33:10Speaker 2: that was that was that was my best game as
- 33:12Speaker 2: a as a pass rusher. I'd never I'd never passed
- 33:16Speaker 2: rushed like that before. That was my best game as
- 33:17Speaker 2: a pass rusher. Thirteen quarterback hits thirteen is crazy thirteen
- 33:22Speaker 2: back there.
- 33:23Speaker 1: I might I might have been more sick leaving that
- 33:25Speaker 1: game than I would. Oh yeah, Like I got six
- 33:28Speaker 1: sacks off eight hits thirteen and you leave with nothing nothing,
- 33:32Speaker 1: zero zero, Like I tell you when I tell you,
- 33:34Speaker 1: I'd leave the game so frustrated, like, oh, you had
- 33:36Speaker 1: a great game, don't talk to me right now.
- 33:38Speaker 4: Like I got to figure out how to get one
- 33:40Speaker 4: step faster.
- 33:41Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 33:41Speaker 1: I'm on I'm on sledge training for the next five
- 33:44Speaker 1: days because I'm really getting there.
- 33:45Speaker 4: Or not getting there trying to get that would that
- 33:48Speaker 4: would have hurt my feelings like more, it's it's the
- 33:50Speaker 4: it's the success that you.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Don't have that I feel like bothers me anyways more
- 33:55Speaker 1: than ever, Like you could come up with you know,
- 33:56Speaker 1: I played Philly and had you know, three sacks against
- 33:59Speaker 1: Mike Vick. When I was young, girl, I was like,
- 34:00Speaker 1: this is my first three set game. I was like, amazing,
- 34:02Speaker 1: you're trying to film, but you fell off too, like
- 34:04Speaker 1: now it's like it.
- 34:05Speaker 4: Really could have been a five sack game.
- 34:09Speaker 1: I would I had a good game, but it could
- 34:11Speaker 1: have been legendary, you know, like.
- 34:12Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, but for you to what you hit a.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Quarterback a dozen plus times and come up with nothing.
- 34:20Speaker 1: I probably zero me and you would have the same
- 34:23Speaker 1: amount of hair I might. I might have pulled it
- 34:25Speaker 1: all out. It would have been done, Like no.
- 34:28Speaker 4: Bro, what sick?
- 34:31Speaker 2: But those those thatswishes are you know, We're like, hey,
- 34:34Speaker 2: we're a different breed man.
- 34:35Speaker 3: You know this.
- 34:36Speaker 2: You know you know what even makes me mad, Like
- 34:38Speaker 2: when we would have interior players, you know what I mean,
- 34:41Speaker 2: like you know, limb ball and yeah, and trying to
- 34:44Speaker 2: get I'll be I'll be angry. I'd be like no, no, no, no,
- 34:46Speaker 2: no no.
- 34:49Speaker 4: Duke stopped to run. You played the screen.
- 34:52Speaker 1: Hey, In fact, I tell you de talkles all the.
- 34:54Speaker 4: Time before they try to convert me to you tagle.
- 34:56Speaker 4: This year, do you do you tackle? Stop? They stopped
- 35:00Speaker 4: the screen. So there's a screen.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Your job is to get in front of that running
- 35:04Speaker 1: back and buy us one more second because I should
- 35:06Speaker 1: be on his ass. Or the next year, like you
- 35:09Speaker 1: stopped the run and stop the screens.
- 35:11Speaker 3: Let's should take care of that exactly.
- 35:14Speaker 2: I will tell limbll I was like, okay, listen and
- 35:16Speaker 2: he'll tell you.
- 35:17Speaker 3: You know, Limb J.
- 35:19Speaker 4: Monster he was.
- 35:21Speaker 1: He was really good at the Giants. But he made
- 35:23Speaker 1: his hey in Minnesota.
- 35:25Speaker 3: In Minnesota, that's where he became a real real baller.
- 35:28Speaker 3: But when when when? When in New York?
- 35:29Speaker 2: I would tell him because you know he'd be trying
- 35:31Speaker 2: to get sacks. I like, listen, listen, listen to Limb.
- 35:35Speaker 2: You see there's a tree and it's full of fruits,
- 35:38Speaker 2: and the fruits is the sack.
- 35:41Speaker 3: Your job is to pull the branch down.
- 35:43Speaker 5: So I car you guys, defensive ends, Bro, we're a.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Special ego ego maniacs. At times like you, you go
- 36:04Speaker 1: in and be like, you know, if if somebody falls
- 36:06Speaker 1: off me and you get it, you literally like, hey, bro,
- 36:08Speaker 1: it's all full circuit.
- 36:09Speaker 5: Come back your way.
- 36:12Speaker 1: But if you don't want it, I donay. It may
- 36:22Speaker 1: not say your name, but you're in there. Like when
- 36:24Speaker 1: you look at my sacks, think of it as an
- 36:26Speaker 1: US thing. Like the defensive ends are sick hos, like
- 36:32Speaker 1: the way the way you felt about noles. That's why
- 36:34Speaker 1: I look at linebackers I see tomorrow days like Blitz
- 36:37Speaker 1: and he has six seven sacks on the season. I'm like,
- 36:39Speaker 1: you're dead wrong. You should be you should be covered.
- 36:41Speaker 1: You should be covered to buying us time to do
- 36:43Speaker 1: what we could do. No linebacker, ever, no middle linebacker
- 36:47Speaker 1: gets paid off of sacks like it.
- 36:49Speaker 4: It's a it's a high five for you.
- 36:50Speaker 1: You can get paid off of your your deflections and
- 36:53Speaker 1: your tackles and interceptions. That's your that's your chairy on top.
- 36:57Speaker 1: Nobody cares about your sacks. W go back there and
- 37:00Speaker 1: that tight end like you're supposed to. Man, that's crazy. Look,
- 37:06Speaker 1: I know, I know you got things to do. I
- 37:07Speaker 1: just I just wanted to appreciate you for your time. Man,
- 37:10Speaker 1: Appreciate you coming on tapping in with the pod, off
- 37:12Speaker 1: the Edge podcast, all your success, for all the leadership,
- 37:15Speaker 1: for all the ambassador programs that you're you know you
- 37:17Speaker 1: you're lending power to and and creating a platform for.
- 37:21Speaker 1: It's it's not only commendable, it's going to be the future.
- 37:24Speaker 4: You know.
- 37:24Speaker 1: I hope twenty years from now, we're not gonna talk
- 37:26Speaker 1: about how few Nigerians are and we're gonna talk about
- 37:29Speaker 1: how many Africans are part of the NFL. But I
- 37:33Speaker 1: appreciate you tapping in off the edge the pod with
- 37:36Speaker 1: Cam Jordan. Man appreciate oh see, you know, just dropping
- 37:49Speaker 1: game per usual, just talking when I tell you a
- 37:52Speaker 1: great guy, great great person. I wish I was younger
- 37:56Speaker 1: to have been on the Giants, just to just to
- 37:58Speaker 1: try and learn from a group like they had. I
- 38:00Speaker 1: mean they had dogs back in the day. Oh Seaman,
- 38:03Speaker 1: you're you talk about Mike's Trey han who's a legend. Everybody,
- 38:07Speaker 1: every defense man wanted to be like Mike, want to
- 38:09Speaker 1: be like Mike straight hand, especially after the career that
- 38:13Speaker 1: he's had you transition to TV etctera. It's just, you know,
- 38:16Speaker 1: he's the standard. You talk about JPP. You remember JPP
- 38:20Speaker 1: dog uh and then of course Justin Tuck. You know,
- 38:23Speaker 1: just like there's a reason why they won championships. They
- 38:26Speaker 1: built from the D line and up. That's how That's
- 38:28Speaker 1: how I build championship team. I'd go strong, interior, amazing ends,
- 38:33Speaker 1: and then you build a team as they are. But anyways,
- 38:36Speaker 1: of course, amazing quarterback, you know, take back prime Drew
- 38:40Speaker 1: Brees and just give them, you know, me bringing Trey
- 38:44Speaker 1: Henderson Will Smith as a pass rush in three and
- 38:47Speaker 1: then I take a probably prime Centric Ellis or Sheldon
- 38:51Speaker 1: Rankings or ooh now, Brian Berzi. He's got six and
- 38:53Speaker 1: a half saxon the season. Either way, that's just the
- 38:55Speaker 1: Saints wants that I can never have. That I can't
- 38:57Speaker 1: get back.
- 38:58Speaker 4: But you know, there's there's there's more. So we'll see
- 39:00Speaker 4: how the shakes out.
- 39:02Speaker 1: We're entering the segment I like to call the final push.
- 39:07Speaker 1: And honestly, you know, when I think about how we
- 39:09Speaker 1: lost to the Rams, we lost by seven, we twenty
- 39:12Speaker 1: one to fourteen.
- 39:13Speaker 4: We had a chance at the end to finish it.
- 39:14Speaker 4: I wish we were just finished.
- 39:15Speaker 2: You know.
- 39:16Speaker 1: The pivotal change the last couple of games has been
- 39:20Speaker 1: finishing strong, start fast, finished strong. We started fast, three
- 39:23Speaker 1: points up, six points up, we go into halftime six
- 39:25Speaker 1: So you have to be able to finish those games.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Go twenty one points on the defense in the in
- 39:29Speaker 1: the second half. It's just now calling it an embarrassing.
- 39:33Speaker 1: It hurts because if they don't score after the second half,
- 39:35Speaker 1: they can't win.
- 39:38Speaker 4: For it to come down to the final wire, we
- 39:40Speaker 4: don't get it done.
- 39:40Speaker 1: This shit got to figure out a way to get
- 39:43Speaker 1: back in the W column. I mean, our division is
- 39:45Speaker 1: still up for grab. Somehow, some way, we have to
- 39:47Speaker 1: be able to close this out. We go five strong.
- 39:49Speaker 1: You can't tell me we're not sliding in. We're still
- 39:51Speaker 1: playing hopeful games, meaningful games.
- 39:53Speaker 4: So we have to be able to figure that out.
- 39:56Speaker 3: Too.
- 39:57Speaker 1: I mean, it doesn't help when you lose guys like
- 39:59Speaker 1: you know, Nick's out, goes down, our starting offensive guard
- 40:02Speaker 1: for the game. He goes down. Then you know, Tyring
- 40:07Speaker 1: goes down, but he's coming back, you know, he goes
- 40:09Speaker 1: I think he comes back in or maybe he doesn't,
- 40:11Speaker 1: but it's not as bad as I think. But then
- 40:13Speaker 1: you lose Taysom Hill and it you lose a guy
- 40:15Speaker 1: like Taysom Hills. Man's a Swiss army knife. And I'm
- 40:18Speaker 1: not even sure what the injury was. I don't even
- 40:20Speaker 1: gonna talk about it because if if a season ending
- 40:22Speaker 1: like it probably will be that hurts. I mean, you've
- 40:26Speaker 1: seen what he does and in our short yardage game alone,
- 40:29Speaker 1: and that that's game saving.
- 40:31Speaker 4: Nobody stops tasting third and two, third and third and one.
- 40:36Speaker 1: How you can't so that that that changes a dynamic?
- 40:41Speaker 4: What do you where?
- 40:42Speaker 1: Where do you where's he gonna line up at wyde, receiver, slot,
- 40:44Speaker 1: tight end, full back. He might be the thirteen personnel
- 40:48Speaker 1: big tight end. I mean he plays every position. So
- 40:52Speaker 1: to lose something like him, man, that that's going to
- 40:54Speaker 1: take an adjustment. You can't replace a guy like him.
- 40:57Speaker 1: I mean you've seen when he's healthy. When he's out,
- 40:58Speaker 1: that's like replacing a guy like you can't. Some guys
- 41:02Speaker 1: just aren't replaceable.
- 41:03Speaker 3: You know.
- 41:04Speaker 1: It's like headdreshers being thrown inside on.
- 41:07Speaker 4: The Tier D line.
- 41:10Speaker 1: But I digress. So we got to be able to
- 41:13Speaker 1: find our way to win. You know, the Saints fans
- 41:15Speaker 1: have been nothing short but amazing. They came back, they've rallied.
- 41:18Speaker 1: It's like they've they've been the Saints team. Like you know,
- 41:22Speaker 1: when we won we were related and we lose. It's
- 41:24Speaker 1: like we could have won, and you feel that in
- 41:26Speaker 1: the city we're just trying to win. We have to
- 41:28Speaker 1: find our way to win because the fans deserve it.
- 41:30Speaker 1: I think that, you know, for random people that I
- 41:36Speaker 1: saw like online, like hey, we should tank for a spot.
- 41:38Speaker 4: What do you talk about. There's no tank. It's this
- 41:40Speaker 4: year or nothing.
- 41:41Speaker 1: It's like the Super Bowls in New Orleans and you
- 41:43Speaker 1: tell me we still have a playoff chance.
- 41:45Speaker 4: We can't tank.
- 41:45Speaker 1: Ain't no such thing as tank, and we have to
- 41:47Speaker 1: take that to take Yeah, not tank. Take tank is
- 41:51Speaker 1: my son. Nah, No, tank is where he belongs right
- 41:55Speaker 1: right in school, right now. Take every win available, five
- 41:59Speaker 1: games if we have to find a way, find our reason,
- 42:02Speaker 1: find our drive to take every win this this uh,
- 42:05Speaker 1: this season. So whatever happens, let it happened, but we
- 42:09Speaker 1: have to take these wins.
- 42:10Speaker 4: Five left.
- 42:11Speaker 1: We figured, you figure we finished nine and eight. We
- 42:15Speaker 1: can live with that. Darren Rizzy, interim head coach, We
- 42:17Speaker 1: can live with that.
- 42:18Speaker 4: You know.
- 42:19Speaker 1: Derek Carr, the way he's been playing, I wish he
- 42:21Speaker 1: had never got hurt like they if our teams healthy,
- 42:24Speaker 1: Rashi she Chris Olive. You know, we don't miss out
- 42:28Speaker 1: on anybody any games. Talking about ak talk about Jamal Williams,
- 42:33Speaker 1: you talk about you know, healthy Kendre Miller. Completely different conversations, bro,
- 42:39Speaker 1: But that's now where we're at.
- 42:40Speaker 4: This is the NFL.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Guys get hurt, things happen for the final for the
- 42:45Speaker 1: final part, you know, it's just being thankful, you know,
- 42:50Speaker 1: thankful that we have our chance to have five more games,
- 42:53Speaker 1: that we're not out of playoffs, that we still can
- 42:55Speaker 1: still fight it. I'm even more thankful, you know that
- 42:59Speaker 1: I'm part of a phenomenal organization, a phenomenal franchise. I'm
- 43:03Speaker 1: at the highest level thankful because you know, I talked
- 43:05Speaker 1: to OC early and I was like, Yo, the family's healthy.
- 43:08Speaker 1: My kids are healthy. You know, wife, mom, dad, daughter's son,
- 43:14Speaker 1: everybody's good.
- 43:15Speaker 4: You know this this passed by week.
- 43:17Speaker 1: I was out in LA and I did a lot
- 43:18Speaker 1: of you know, did a lot of Vincent's studio, but
- 43:22Speaker 1: all over at the Fox studio there was a kid.
- 43:25Speaker 4: I talked to.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Aiden Steiner where, man, he's got one of the rarest
- 43:30Speaker 1: because he's as a kid, he's a child. You know,
- 43:34Speaker 1: it was a whole acronom I NA D Infantile neuroximal
- 43:38Speaker 1: disorder where you know, like they say a lot of
- 43:41Speaker 1: those kids don't even make it past ten. As a father,
- 43:44Speaker 1: I am heartstruck, like broken, Like I'm like, I can't
- 43:48Speaker 1: even imagine if if it was a cousin, it was
- 43:51Speaker 1: a friend, it was Aidan, Like I'm talking ad and
- 43:53Speaker 1: I'm just like heart hurt. I can imagine if it
- 43:57Speaker 1: was my child. So that's why I'm saying, my life
- 43:59Speaker 1: is a blessing and you have to take advantage of
- 44:02Speaker 1: each and every opportunities. And hopefully you know to listeners
- 44:05Speaker 1: out there, you're doing just that. You're you're enjoying each
- 44:07Speaker 1: and every moment, the ups at the downs, because there
- 44:11Speaker 1: is an opportunity. As long as you're breathing breath of
- 44:14Speaker 1: fresh air, as long as you're breathing life, you can
- 44:16Speaker 1: speak life. And if you can speak life, you can
- 44:17Speaker 1: just create positivity. You create positivity, you can create a
- 44:20Speaker 1: momentum change. If you need a momentum change, come be
- 44:23Speaker 1: around me. I'm gonna be nothing but the highest positive
- 44:25Speaker 1: and highest push for positivity. And that's you know, gonna
- 44:29Speaker 1: start with the Saints going want to know this week
- 44:31Speaker 1: that's shout out to the Steiner family.
- 44:33Speaker 4: Shout out to Aiden and if there's a.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Chance to even overcome, I hope he does because to
- 44:40Speaker 1: hear that man, that's a strong family. Dad, patient mom, patient,
- 44:44Speaker 1: little brother, understanding and patient. Like, just be blessed for
- 44:49Speaker 1: what you have and know that even though things can
- 44:52Speaker 1: always be better, they can always be worse. So God
- 44:54Speaker 1: bless This is Cam Jordan Off the Edge podcast.
