- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside the Birds is back. What's going on? Everybody? It
- 0:14Speaker 1: is Jeff Moser, it is Adam Kaplan and of course
- 0:17Speaker 1: we are joined by Inside the Birds dot COM's Andrew
- 0:20Speaker 1: de Checko. Eagles mandatory mini camp, two of them back
- 0:24Speaker 1: to back Tuesday Wednesday, it's over. We got all the intel.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Adam was there, Andrew was there. We're gonna bring you
- 0:30Speaker 1: all the intel from their eyes from the Jefferson Health
- 0:34Speaker 1: Training Complex to the ears of our listeners in this
- 0:37Speaker 1: podcast and really looking forward to doing that. So let's
- 0:40Speaker 1: get started right away, fellas. And by the way, it's
- 0:44Speaker 1: crazy now because after this there's six or seven weeks
- 0:47Speaker 1: of no football until training camp.
- 0:48Speaker 2: So this was it.
- 0:49Speaker 1: This was both of your opportunities to see the whole
- 0:53Speaker 1: team there, the new offense and the requel in addition
- 0:56Speaker 1: to the defense. But Andrew, give us the attendance report
- 1:00Speaker 1: real quick.
- 1:00Speaker 3: First for both days.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Yeah, Joe tryon show Yanka wasn't there for either day,
- 1:05Speaker 4: and then not practicing today was Makai Lemon, Jahad Campbell.
- 1:09Speaker 5: Those were the two names.
- 1:10Speaker 4: Britain, Cubby Tucker, Large Grant kal Kata and then Jalen
- 1:15Speaker 4: Carter participated in individuals and warm ups, but again not.
- 1:19Speaker 5: In team drills, so that was something.
- 1:21Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:22Speaker 4: And Jonathan Bernard as well, he hasn't participated in team
- 1:25Speaker 4: drills throughout the.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Spring and that's because of his surgery. Yeah, he was
- 1:28Speaker 2: talking about that today.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Right Tryon Shoenka was also not at the two open practices.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Is that accurate or was he there?
- 1:36Speaker 5: No? I have not seen him. He hasn't been there.
- 1:39Speaker 4: But you know, after that first day, I was told
- 1:42Speaker 4: that all but one player was there for the for
- 1:45Speaker 4: the voluntary ones.
- 1:46Speaker 3: So that's interesting.
- 1:47Speaker 1: And then I know a lot of the guys said
- 1:49Speaker 1: that DeVante Smith was an excused.
- 1:52Speaker 5: Personal a personal reasons.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, But it's weird that Trion Schwenka, who's
- 1:57Speaker 3: trying to make.
- 1:57Speaker 2: A team, he ain't gonna make it anyway.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I know he wasn't gonna make it, but I also
- 2:01Speaker 1: wonder if he realized that and then he's, yeah, he's
- 2:03Speaker 1: pulling a Jakwaski tart from many years ago and been
- 2:06Speaker 1: like I gotta, I gotta leave.
- 2:07Speaker 6: Because I wonder he signed April six, It was the
- 2:09Speaker 6: date of execution of his contract.
- 2:12Speaker 2: No, gonna look up.
- 2:16Speaker 6: It's kind of one of these things like why did
- 2:17Speaker 6: he sign here when they gave because I'm sure his
- 2:20Speaker 6: agent could find out what other guys were making. Gurnard
- 2:23Speaker 6: comes in here for twenty five million, you know, he
- 2:25Speaker 6: gets extended twenty five MINIU a season, and then they
- 2:29Speaker 6: brought it Arnold Ebukeetty four he's gonna make I think
- 2:32Speaker 6: four million. Let me just double check that. Yeah, he's
- 2:34Speaker 6: gonna make four point three million. Ebuqutty, by the way,
- 2:37Speaker 6: signed before try On Shayanka did. It's like, why did
- 2:41Speaker 6: he sign here? And then if you really do your homework,
- 2:43Speaker 6: Vic only plays three? You dress four edges, he play three.
- 2:45Speaker 6: That's what he does. He doesn't change that. By the way,
- 2:48Speaker 6: the same thing that.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Was the discussion that we had at the time.
- 2:50Speaker 6: It is like, which the yeah, yeah, I we'll see
- 2:53Speaker 6: if it's we'll see, we'll see what happens. But yeah,
- 2:56Speaker 6: that was kind of odd. But listen the story that
- 2:59Speaker 6: you know, it was warm. It was day two many
- 3:02Speaker 6: mandatory minicamp practices, and you know, Andrew was there with
- 3:05Speaker 6: me and we exchanged notes. Is it was my first
- 3:08Speaker 6: exposure to it, and it's kind of what I thought
- 3:10Speaker 6: it would look like. The offense condensed slits, tight, splits.
- 3:15Speaker 6: What you call coaches depends on which coach you talked to.
- 3:17Speaker 6: The tight splits. It sure as hell looks like the
- 3:20Speaker 6: McVeigh offense, the concepts and Sean does this for a
- 3:24Speaker 6: reason because it helped, as we've talked about now for
- 3:26Speaker 6: five years, it helped free up Cooper Cup and then
- 3:31Speaker 6: once they got pooking to cook because knew they couldn't get.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Open on their own. It helps you get open. Talk
- 3:36Speaker 2: to coaches about this.
- 3:38Speaker 6: It's a lot easier to run against man coverage when
- 3:40Speaker 6: you play inside. When you're outside, it's really hard to
- 3:43Speaker 6: win one on one. That makes sense. But Andrew, you've
- 3:46Speaker 6: been here for every practice they let well, all the prices,
- 3:49Speaker 6: they let you watch with the media. Overall, you've seen
- 3:53Speaker 6: this passing game. How much different does it look to
- 3:56Speaker 6: you than you've seen before?
- 3:57Speaker 5: What a bit different you're saying, player schemed open. Whereas
- 4:01Speaker 5: in the past, too many times the receivers on the
- 4:04Speaker 5: outside have won one on ones, and I don't think
- 4:07Speaker 5: that that's sustainable. Last season they didn't win as often
- 4:10Speaker 5: as they had in the past, but you're seeing a
- 4:12Speaker 5: lot of multiple tight end usage. They really have focused
- 4:16Speaker 5: on middle of the field throws, intermediary throws, getting the
- 4:19Speaker 5: ball out of the quarterback's hands, a lot of under
- 4:21Speaker 5: center work for Jalen Hurts and the other quarterbacks. And
- 4:25Speaker 5: this is so important right now.
- 4:27Speaker 4: This is the ironing out phase because then when you
- 4:29Speaker 4: get to training camp, that's where everything ramps up.
- 4:32Speaker 5: And that's something to keep an eye on.
- 4:34Speaker 4: But one thing I will say, guys, and we've been
- 4:36Speaker 4: talking about this for seemingly three years now, the running
- 4:40Speaker 4: backs have been a pretty big mainstay thus far in
- 4:44Speaker 4: this offense in terms of checkdowns and things like that,
- 4:47Speaker 4: angle routes, and so I can't help but wonder if
- 4:53Speaker 4: that's gonna be something that they will implement in this
- 4:56Speaker 4: offense where you have to get the ball out quickly,
- 4:58Speaker 4: timing is so paramount for this to work that you
- 5:01Speaker 4: want to have those built in options for your quarterback.
- 5:04Speaker 1: So I was asked on our you know, every our
- 5:07Speaker 1: listeners know we're on ninety seven three South Jersey every
- 5:10Speaker 1: you know day Monday through Friday, one of us in
- 5:12Speaker 1: football at four segments, and Mike gil the host, asked me, fellas,
- 5:17Speaker 1: after you know, seeing reporters like yourself, Andrew and Adam
- 5:22Speaker 1: saying that the running back was getting the ball in
- 5:24Speaker 1: the passing game. So Mike Gill asked me, is that
- 5:26Speaker 1: going to be more prominently featured in the offense this year?
- 5:30Speaker 1: And I see Adam shaking his head already, and I said,
- 5:32Speaker 1: call me September twenty.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Eight, you know, call me week four.
- 5:37Speaker 6: I love questions like that, Like we're not coaches, Like
- 5:40Speaker 6: we could tell you what we say. Yeah, you could
- 5:42Speaker 6: talk to someone with the team and they'll tell you, hey,
- 5:43Speaker 6: you know this is probably going to be involved, but
- 5:46Speaker 6: until you get there right.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Plus, part of the problem with Hurts has been is
- 5:51Speaker 2: unwilling to check the ball down.
- 5:52Speaker 6: And also this, I know for a fact the play
- 5:56Speaker 6: will be in during the week and you get to
- 5:59Speaker 6: the game and I think happens it doesn't happen with it.
- 6:01Speaker 6: It could be a checkdown, It could be an angle route,
- 6:05Speaker 6: it could be whatever.
- 6:06Speaker 2: You just you say, you all you could.
- 6:09Speaker 6: Why do I frown Because I've been seeing this way
- 6:10Speaker 6: too much since ur It has been the quarterback and
- 6:14Speaker 6: we know the gen's got this great arm downfield. But
- 6:17Speaker 6: you've got to be more diverse than you're in your
- 6:19Speaker 6: passing game and your willingness to do it, your thought process.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Yeah, all we're saying is what we've seen, and that's
- 6:26Speaker 4: something that has been part throughout the spring.
- 6:29Speaker 5: A lot of inside the numbers throws as well.
- 6:31Speaker 6: Oh there was a Andrew. There was a big time.
- 6:34Speaker 6: I don't know if you noticed it, but there was
- 6:37Speaker 6: a sideline throw to Wicks. It was a deep comeback.
- 6:41Speaker 6: It hurts through the bleep out of it. I don't
- 6:43Speaker 6: want to curse. Yeah, that was a big time. A
- 6:46Speaker 6: deep comebacks in every every offense, every scheme. But here's
- 6:52Speaker 6: what I liked. He was decisive and that ball came
- 6:54Speaker 6: out like it's got like it's it's a time and throw.
- 6:56Speaker 6: It's the receiver goes deep and he turns around, it
- 6:59Speaker 6: comes back and that ball that that ball's got to
- 7:01Speaker 6: be out and it was right on time. I was like,
- 7:03Speaker 6: that was a nice design play that goes to your
- 7:07Speaker 6: point on timing and it's a rich Jeff, as we
- 7:09Speaker 6: sent it back to you, it's this is a rhythmic offense.
- 7:13Speaker 6: It's got to be on time. But they've got a
- 7:16Speaker 6: very interesting past our group. Remember submit he didn't even
- 7:18Speaker 6: work on Wednesday, and you know you saw Hollywood Brown
- 7:21Speaker 6: get more reps, Wick, Scott more reps. We saw Danny
- 7:25Speaker 6: Gray get some You know that like guys you would
- 7:26Speaker 6: not get on the field or getting on the field
- 7:28Speaker 6: because you're you remember Makai lemoncamp practice, He didn't practice
- 7:32Speaker 6: for weeks because of the hamstering issue, right, So they
- 7:33Speaker 6: were taking they were taking a look at a lot
- 7:35Speaker 6: of other guys.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Yeah, So one thing I wanted to ask you guys,
- 7:38Speaker 1: because I thought it was really interesting, is a I thought.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Saquon Barkley and Lane Johnson were surprisingly detailed in both
- 7:45Speaker 1: of their press conferences about the wide zone that Sean
- 7:49Speaker 1: Mannion is implementing and Chris Cooper is coaching for the
- 7:51Speaker 1: offensive line and how it's different, but what the advantages
- 7:55Speaker 1: of it will be when they when they get it together,
- 7:57Speaker 1: because you know, the egos don't like to really talk
- 8:00Speaker 1: about things that would give anybody a competitive advantage.
- 8:02Speaker 3: But Lane was pretty.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Forthcoming in the whole design, saying, we want to get
- 8:08Speaker 1: the linebackers and the d tackles running side to side.
- 8:11Speaker 1: We want to tire them out and then switch to
- 8:13Speaker 1: sort of power football after they get tired. So we
- 8:16Speaker 1: do know that there is the expectation at least of
- 8:19Speaker 1: seeing a decent amount of this outside zone, wide zone,
- 8:22Speaker 1: stretch zone, a mid zone, and there's different versions of it.
- 8:25Speaker 1: But bottom line is offensive line moving horizontally looking for
- 8:30Speaker 1: that one cut system, whereas for years they've run inside zone,
- 8:33Speaker 1: power duo, everything up the middle. I'm wondering, Andrew, and
- 8:38Speaker 1: from what you saw on Wednesday Wednesday's practice, I mean,
- 8:41Speaker 1: do you continue to see that being the most prominent
- 8:44Speaker 1: run or is its mixed in?
- 8:46Speaker 3: How do you guys see that all the practices.
- 8:50Speaker 4: So, yeah, it's been mixed in and it hasn't been
- 8:53Speaker 4: incredibly prominent. I would expect that to be more of
- 8:55Speaker 4: a mainstay when you get to training camp. They're more
- 8:58Speaker 4: so going through the installation process and establishing that foundation.
- 9:01Speaker 4: But I think what Lane Johnson said that I found
- 9:03Speaker 4: to be interesting is that you're stretching at front side.
- 9:06Speaker 4: You're making the defense cover a lot of ground, but
- 9:08Speaker 4: you're also giving the running back the ability to.
- 9:11Speaker 5: Read backside blocks.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Right.
- 9:13Speaker 4: And Lane also said, for the first time in his career,
- 9:16Speaker 4: he's going to have guard hill and so he said,
- 9:18Speaker 4: if he loses one on one, because that's what he's
- 9:20Speaker 4: been doing, you'll have the guard there.
- 9:22Speaker 5: To help him out.
- 9:22Speaker 4: So he said me like that was what he said
- 9:25Speaker 4: when he after he said that.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Yeah, so Adam and I talked about this.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I even had a quick chat with Greg Cosell, and
- 9:30Speaker 1: we're pretty sure what he means is because there's going
- 9:32Speaker 1: to be a heavy influence of play action passing and
- 9:36Speaker 1: being under center.
- 9:38Speaker 3: What looks like runs.
- 9:39Speaker 1: You know, you've got your five offensive line, your two
- 9:41Speaker 1: tight ends probably split, and that gives you a max.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Protection front for a pass.
- 9:45Speaker 1: But it starts off looking like a run flowing one
- 9:48Speaker 1: way or flowing the other way. But then the quarterback
- 9:50Speaker 1: keeps the ball and it becomes play action pass. But
- 9:53Speaker 1: the blocking team starts off with the tight end on
- 9:56Speaker 1: the play side blocking the edge right, and then the
- 9:59Speaker 1: right tackle and right guard double. It's not really a
- 10:02Speaker 1: double tea. It's like a reach blocking.
- 10:04Speaker 6: Or watch Kittle watching watch the Niners play action with Purty,
- 10:08Speaker 6: watch them raw to the right and watch title right.
- 10:11Speaker 1: So you it starts off as like a double team
- 10:13Speaker 1: and then it becomes a pass and then you have
- 10:14Speaker 1: help I think for distinction purposes. If it's a third
- 10:17Speaker 1: and seven and they're calling a drop back and Jalen
- 10:21Speaker 1: Hurts is scanning the field, you're not gonna see the
- 10:23Speaker 1: right guard helping Lane Johnson. That's that's not a player.
- 10:26Speaker 1: That's not what you're going to see because Cam Jurgens
- 10:28Speaker 1: can't handle like a big, huge guy all by himself.
- 10:30Speaker 1: But I do, I do understand what Lane's talking, and
- 10:32Speaker 1: I think that will be an advantage that they're trying
- 10:35Speaker 1: to get overall, which is the perception of running the
- 10:38Speaker 1: ball a certain way and then springing the play.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Action pass on the defense.
- 10:42Speaker 6: You were saying them, Yeah, No, it's uh, it's you
- 10:47Speaker 6: have to remember a couple of things here. So you've
- 10:49Speaker 6: got the heavy influence of mc Sean McVay, right, Seawan
- 10:52Speaker 6: Mannion obviously uh, and then Mannion worked for Michael Matt Lafloor.
- 10:57Speaker 6: Matt Laflora is what is Sean mcvay's offensive coordinator in
- 11:01Speaker 6: Tron's first year in twenty seventeen as a player. And
- 11:04Speaker 6: you've got the offensive coordinator who strictly is coming from
- 11:06Speaker 6: the Shanahan influence, Okay, Chris Cooper Shanahan influence, and of
- 11:12Speaker 6: course obviously Minnesota and Kevin O'Connell McVeigh. So you mix
- 11:16Speaker 6: all this stuff, this seems could be beautiful. Like this, is
- 11:20Speaker 6: there another team that's got so many influences. I think
- 11:22Speaker 6: it's super cool. I think it could be really look.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Good, you know.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Yeah, No, it's a it's a really cool blend of
- 11:28Speaker 1: a different bunch of philosophies, both as you're mentioning as he.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Played, because he played for McVeigh.
- 11:33Speaker 1: And Lafleur, as you mentioned, was his offensive coordinator when
- 11:36Speaker 1: he played his first few years with the Rams, and
- 11:38Speaker 1: then he went on and played under. I think Clint
- 11:40Speaker 1: Kubiak was at one point his offensive coordinator in Minnesota,
- 11:44Speaker 1: and so was.
- 11:45Speaker 3: So was Gary Seattle in Seattle.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Yeah, no, no, no, I think Clinton was in Minnesota at
- 11:49Speaker 1: the time that Seawan Mannon was a player in Minnesota.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I think he was.
- 11:55Speaker 1: I think Gary Kubiak was actually the assistant like head
- 11:59Speaker 1: coach too, running offense. Remember, he came back for one
- 12:01Speaker 1: year with the Vikings under and then stefans Key became
- 12:04Speaker 1: the head coach and he needed help, he needed like
- 12:07Speaker 1: a veteran guy, so he brought in Gary Cooper.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, because that's where he got the mid zone. Yeah.
- 12:11Speaker 2: I remember Kevin talking about that. Yeah.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Yeah, So yeah, that's all the same kind of pattern. Well,
- 12:17Speaker 1: I wonder I want to what you guys think about
- 12:19Speaker 1: tight end usage because we expect that the Eagles are
- 12:22Speaker 1: going to continue to be among higher league average in
- 12:25Speaker 1: twelve personnel, and maybe even more so, should be more
- 12:28Speaker 1: so than even in the past. But which tight ends
- 12:30Speaker 1: are getting out there right now and getting the looks.
- 12:34Speaker 4: There's a lot of obviously Dallas Scott, but EJ. Jenkins
- 12:37Speaker 4: has been getting a lot of work as well, Johnny
- 12:38Speaker 4: Munt not so much Eli Stowers, but I did notice
- 12:42Speaker 4: he was wearing a sleeve on his right leg. But
- 12:45Speaker 4: I'm saying those three and Grand Kaka Terra, by the way,
- 12:48Speaker 4: as I mentioned, didn't work today, so that that's sort
- 12:51Speaker 4: of limited.
- 12:52Speaker 5: I haven't seen a ton of Stone Smart.
- 12:54Speaker 4: Cameron Latsu has worked in there as well, so I
- 12:56Speaker 4: see a world where they carry four tight ends, and
- 12:59Speaker 4: I think what was really emphasizes how important the blocking
- 13:02Speaker 4: aspect is if you're a tight end in this offense,
- 13:05Speaker 4: so that that that could sway how they look at
- 13:08Speaker 4: I mean, obviously Johnny Mounts here to block, but other
- 13:10Speaker 4: players as well.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Just understand something.
- 13:13Speaker 6: Just one thing to add, I wouldn't make any broad
- 13:15Speaker 6: statements about how much twelve personnel they're going to play
- 13:18Speaker 6: because Remember Lemon did not practice for two weeks. Smitty
- 13:21Speaker 6: didn't practice like the media only saw, so they only
- 13:24Speaker 6: got access to a handful of practices. Yes, Egos have
- 13:28Speaker 6: a lot of ten ends. But they did make a
- 13:29Speaker 6: trade for Dan Tavinwook's extended his contract. They spent a
- 13:32Speaker 6: first round pick on Lemon. You got, Smitty, you got.
- 13:35Speaker 6: They paid five million to Hollywood Brown, which is I
- 13:38Speaker 6: thought it was ridiculous, but we'll see what his role is.
- 13:41Speaker 2: They're going to have the ability to whatever the hell
- 13:42Speaker 2: they want.
- 13:42Speaker 6: If these if Manny is who they think he is
- 13:46Speaker 6: and hurts, plays well, and he gets rid of the
- 13:48Speaker 6: football in time, they could literally run is whatever groupings
- 13:52Speaker 6: they want to run, which have enough they you can make.
- 13:57Speaker 2: I learned this the hard way when Tyer kills to
- 14:02Speaker 2: the Dolphins.
- 14:03Speaker 6: Think there's no way that I know Mahomes was great.
- 14:05Speaker 6: That he hasn't been great the last couple of years,
- 14:07Speaker 6: but he was great. Then when the MVP back to
- 14:08Speaker 6: back Super Bowls. If you've got a great play caller,
- 14:11Speaker 6: you could scheme anybody. You could figure out a way.
- 14:15Speaker 6: I learned this from talking to coaches like you, you
- 14:17Speaker 6: do the best you can with what you've got. If
- 14:19Speaker 6: this kid's as special as Eagles thinking is, look out,
- 14:22Speaker 6: he'll he'll do great with this stuff.
- 14:24Speaker 2: But you got to have buy in, you got to
- 14:26Speaker 2: have execution. It all works together.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Yeah, what you're saying is very important because you can
- 14:30Speaker 1: be much more opponent specific with how you choose, Like
- 14:34Speaker 1: if you think you can really move the ball on
- 14:37Speaker 1: a team, if you keep it in base, you can
- 14:39Speaker 1: play a lot of.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Twelve personnel, even thirteen Eagles have.
- 14:42Speaker 1: If yes, if Mannion really wants to steal a little
- 14:44Speaker 1: bit from his mentor so McVeigh, then maybe and the
- 14:47Speaker 1: Eagles certainly have enough tight ends to play a little
- 14:49Speaker 1: thirteen persons.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Andrews said, they have.
- 14:50Speaker 6: They there's a word absoluteency for tight ends. Yeah, they've got.
- 14:54Speaker 2: They'll have five or six receivers to work with. Now.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Lemon said, get him up to speed in training camp.
- 15:01Speaker 2: This is not good. He missed two weeks of practice
- 15:03Speaker 2: like that. He's behind.
- 15:03Speaker 6: It's not doesn't mean he won't start week one. It's
- 15:06Speaker 6: just in his learning and getting used to this offense.
- 15:08Speaker 2: He hasn't. He wasn't on the field.
- 15:10Speaker 6: But once he's comfortable, you get Wicks on the field,
- 15:13Speaker 6: you get Hollywood Brown if he's if he's as good
- 15:15Speaker 6: as they think he's going to be.
- 15:17Speaker 2: On Andrew's point, you got all those tight ends, you
- 15:20Speaker 2: got all these receivers. Yes, they don't have a J. Brown.
- 15:22Speaker 6: We get that, folks, it shouldn't be quite as good.
- 15:25Speaker 6: But you got to understand the coaching coaching matters. It's
- 15:29Speaker 6: players one coaches one a. You can't have one with
- 15:31Speaker 6: the other to be great. You can't win without good coaching.
- 15:34Speaker 2: You just can't.
- 15:34Speaker 6: It's impossible, literally impossible. You're a bunch of dumb coaches
- 15:37Speaker 6: who can't coach.
- 15:38Speaker 2: You're not winning.
- 15:39Speaker 6: I mean there's a part of the fan base since
- 15:42Speaker 6: you could just the players could coach, Just roll the boat,
- 15:44Speaker 6: let them coach and coach themselves. Like this is how
- 15:47Speaker 6: dumb some of football Twitter could be. Sometimes they just
- 15:49Speaker 6: don't understand.
- 15:50Speaker 2: It's a you know that, Yeah, yeah, exactly. It's just
- 15:55Speaker 2: like you can't it.
- 15:57Speaker 6: But I'm so interested, Andrew who it looks beautiful. It
- 16:02Speaker 6: looks like it could be great. We won't know till
- 16:04Speaker 6: we get to the regular station for many games. But
- 16:07Speaker 6: it's not like they don't have talent. People, Like there's
- 16:09Speaker 6: no way they go through both without a J. Brown.
- 16:11Speaker 6: Why can't you make a run if the coaching and
- 16:13Speaker 6: execution is great.
- 16:15Speaker 4: Yeah, coaching execution is a big part of it. There's
- 16:17Speaker 4: also the continuity pieces there with DeVante Smith and Dallas Gotter,
- 16:21Speaker 4: and I thinks on Davante's skill set, I think this
- 16:24Speaker 4: system could stand.
- 16:25Speaker 5: He could stand and benefit most.
- 16:27Speaker 4: Out of all the receivers that they have because of
- 16:30Speaker 4: his multifaceted skill set. But you're right, we're not gonna
- 16:34Speaker 4: know what this looks like, and that's why it's so important.
- 16:37Speaker 4: I find myself reemphasizing that the Eagles are so early
- 16:40Speaker 4: in this process, so you can't read too much into
- 16:43Speaker 4: it one way or the other. This is the sort
- 16:46Speaker 4: of the introductory phase, the onboarding phase, whatever you want
- 16:49Speaker 4: to call it. But you can certainly see the direction
- 16:51Speaker 4: that they're heading.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know, someone can listen to this and
- 16:55Speaker 1: rip the crap out of us they want and say
- 16:57Speaker 1: what they want.
- 16:57Speaker 3: I don't really care.
- 16:59Speaker 1: But like, we're not sitting here talking about stats. We're
- 17:02Speaker 1: not sitting here talking about quarterback accuracy. We're not talking
- 17:05Speaker 1: about turnovers because we don't do that. We know what
- 17:08Speaker 1: mini camp is. We know that there's seven there's players.
- 17:12Speaker 3: That are out. I mean, like, that's it's pointless for
- 17:15Speaker 3: us to do that here.
- 17:16Speaker 1: So we're not going to We're just gonna talk theoretically
- 17:19Speaker 1: and conceptually. And I think that Adam put it in
- 17:22Speaker 1: a good way and he said, there's enough here for that.
- 17:24Speaker 1: If this offense really does what it's supposed to do,
- 17:26Speaker 1: it should look really interesting right now. You know, just
- 17:30Speaker 1: based on what you've said Andrew, reading your stuff and
- 17:32Speaker 1: Adam you saw today, I'm sure the offense doesn't look
- 17:34Speaker 1: like poetry in motion right now, but.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I don't It's funny. I might've been talking to Andrew.
- 17:40Speaker 2: I forget someone to practice on Wednesday. I'm like, Okay,
- 17:43Speaker 2: it doesn't look very good today. Points, but I don't care.
- 17:46Speaker 2: It doesn't matter to me.
- 17:47Speaker 6: I don't get In fact, if they would have ripped
- 17:48Speaker 6: it up, I would have read into it. Oh it's
- 17:50Speaker 6: nice if they had a good practice, it doesn't matter.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it's OTAs these are. It's folks.
- 17:55Speaker 6: Just give you an idea. It's a lot of seven
- 17:57Speaker 6: on seven. Okay, it's like flag football. It looks just
- 17:59Speaker 6: like flag football. They're in jerseys with the T shirt
- 18:02Speaker 6: under it. They're wearing shorts.
- 18:03Speaker 2: It's extremely like they cannot get physical, so they're not
- 18:06Speaker 2: allowed to. You just talked about.
- 18:08Speaker 6: Andrew gave you the injury list, the guys who are
- 18:09Speaker 6: in practicing, guys who aren't there.
- 18:11Speaker 2: But it's a developmental face. Andrew nailed it. It's just
- 18:14Speaker 2: you're you're literally at the beginning.
- 18:15Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't read into anything now that Tanner McKee
- 18:19Speaker 6: stuff hilarious.
- 18:20Speaker 3: Let's talk about that.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Can I think it's actually very funny?
- 18:23Speaker 3: All right? How do you think it's fun I think
- 18:25Speaker 3: it's weird.
- 18:26Speaker 6: I see it different than most people because again I
- 18:29Speaker 6: basis song going back to two thousands, my first year
- 18:31Speaker 6: covering the NFL, I've seen a lot of weird stuff.
- 18:34Speaker 6: This is really odd there. The question is not see
- 18:39Speaker 6: I think people are I look at it differently than
- 18:41Speaker 6: everybody else.
- 18:42Speaker 2: I want to know why? Why are they rotating?
- 18:44Speaker 3: Right?
- 18:45Speaker 2: This makes no sense to me. You know what you
- 18:47Speaker 2: have in Tanner McKee.
- 18:48Speaker 6: Andy Dalton's a thirty eight year old journeyman who's near
- 18:51Speaker 6: the end of his career.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Like, why are you even rotating?
- 18:54Speaker 6: Well, there's clearly any reason they're they're You don't do
- 18:57Speaker 6: this if you're totally happy with Tanner McKay.
- 18:59Speaker 2: I'm just gonna be on with you.
- 19:00Speaker 6: I know the way it works. You don't do this
- 19:03Speaker 6: unless there's something you're not happy with. Was it the
- 19:07Speaker 6: Washington game, which is one game? Can't be it can't
- 19:09Speaker 6: be that right, Oh, you're trying to push him, Like
- 19:11Speaker 6: what what we outlined the people when it happened, you know,
- 19:14Speaker 6: we we let people know that how he loved and
- 19:16Speaker 6: he don't know he liked him.
- 19:18Speaker 2: It was between the Eagles and Dalton.
- 19:20Speaker 6: It was between the Eagles and Panthers before he signed
- 19:23Speaker 6: with the Panthers at the last minute. He just made
- 19:26Speaker 6: a decision of family decision. He wanted to live in Charlotte, Okay,
- 19:29Speaker 6: but how he was always like Dalton Dulton. Dalton in
- 19:31Speaker 6: his day was a pretty good athlete for the for
- 19:34Speaker 6: the position he played under Jay.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Gruden, you know or.
- 19:38Speaker 6: Who are the Yeah ja, yeah, Marvin Lewis's OC for
- 19:42Speaker 6: a while. Yeah, you know it's a West Coast system.
- 19:44Speaker 6: But he's also thirty eight years old.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Yeah, So why are you bringing it? Like? I get it,
- 19:49Speaker 2: you need a third string quarterback now, I know a
- 19:51Speaker 2: lot that.
- 19:51Speaker 6: The conspiracy theory is, Oh well, if they're going to
- 19:53Speaker 6: trade Tanner mckith.
- 19:54Speaker 2: They need to get Dalton reps. That's a two.
- 19:58Speaker 6: That's a convenient excuse to I. I'm not saying it's wrong,
- 20:01Speaker 6: but okay, fine people, some people would throw that out there.
- 20:04Speaker 6: But this, on the surface, it's ridiculous, Like why, I
- 20:08Speaker 6: think it's funny, Like why would you do this all
- 20:10Speaker 6: of a sudden, there's something we don't know, we're gonna
- 20:12Speaker 6: find out.
- 20:12Speaker 1: We'll always find out, so we will find out. Yeah,
- 20:15Speaker 1: And I've said from the start that the whole hierarchy
- 20:17Speaker 1: doesn't make sense because you don't normally see a third
- 20:20Speaker 1: string quarterback who was fifteen years in the league who
- 20:23Speaker 1: makes more money than the backup. But and they went
- 20:26Speaker 1: out and acquired him, and it could just be it's not.
- 20:30Speaker 1: But if you wanted to overrationalize it to make it
- 20:32Speaker 1: make sense, you would just simply say, well, Dalton's a
- 20:35Speaker 1: way more accomplished quarterback in his career than Tanner McKee is,
- 20:39Speaker 1: so why wouldn't he be the number two?
- 20:43Speaker 3: But he's right, I get I get that he's near
- 20:44Speaker 3: the end.
- 20:45Speaker 1: I'm just saying, if you're trying to overrationalize it, you say, well,
- 20:47Speaker 1: why wouldn't Dalton be a number two. He's way more
- 20:49Speaker 1: accomplished than No.
- 20:50Speaker 6: I see what you're saying, but it's what I'm saying
- 20:53Speaker 6: that that's not how they view it.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Teams do something.
- 20:55Speaker 6: They do stuff for a reason, Like, yes, most of
- 20:58Speaker 6: OTA's is about rotation, an experimentation. I get that that's
- 21:02Speaker 6: based on decades of watching this stuff. I laugh sometimes,
- 21:05Speaker 6: Andrew and I will laugh and we'll see a guy
- 21:07Speaker 6: like last summer they might have had a number four
- 21:10Speaker 6: guy run with the.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Ones and OTA. It's like, this guy's not even gonna
- 21:13Speaker 2: do an the team. What do they do? Like they're
- 21:15Speaker 2: just getting they want to take a look at a guy.
- 21:16Speaker 6: That's fine, Yeah, they're just mixing a magic it's but
- 21:21Speaker 6: but the adult the Dualt McKee stuff, it's kind of
- 21:24Speaker 6: funny because they're they're they're giving the media something. If
- 21:29Speaker 6: you really are smart, you find out why they're doing
- 21:32Speaker 6: it and get to the truth, because you don't.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Teams don't do stuff on a whin. They do it
- 21:35Speaker 2: for a reason.
- 21:37Speaker 6: I just find it kind of interesting and funny, like what,
- 21:40Speaker 6: why all the sudden is this happening now?
- 21:43Speaker 4: On Wednesday, it was Tanner McKee who worked with the
- 21:46Speaker 4: second group as Nick Sirianni mentioned about the rotating, which
- 21:49Speaker 4: is something that I and many have written about.
- 21:52Speaker 5: So yeah, I mean, we'll we'll see how how it
- 21:56Speaker 5: pans out in training camp.
- 21:57Speaker 4: But and the practices that were open to the media,
- 22:00Speaker 4: it was largely Andy Dollman working with the second team.
- 22:03Speaker 4: Might have been three practices, three consecutive practices.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Nick said, every Yeah, now they're not taking on and
- 22:10Speaker 1: off and on and off, they're not alternate.
- 22:12Speaker 5: Well, three consecutive that we're open to reporters. So what
- 22:14Speaker 5: they're doing when we're not there now?
- 22:16Speaker 6: Ryan, plus now are they giving Andy in one practice
- 22:20Speaker 6: ten reps and only ten or five?
- 22:23Speaker 2: You'd have to be charting.
- 22:24Speaker 6: And understand what they're trying to accomplish. But the whole
- 22:27Speaker 6: thing's interesting and kind of comical because there's it's just
- 22:30Speaker 6: not the way things ended last season. So I don't
- 22:33Speaker 6: know what has happened when you didn't have any games
- 22:34Speaker 6: or practice, what what could it possibly happen?
- 22:37Speaker 1: One thing that I don't know, because again you're looking
- 22:39Speaker 1: for rational reasons for why and not trying to jump
- 22:44Speaker 1: gun here. But you know, if they feel like Tanner
- 22:48Speaker 1: McKee will eventually get Dealton training camp because there's going
- 22:51Speaker 1: to be a quarterback that a team isn't happy with,
- 22:54Speaker 1: or there's going to be guy who lost the injury.
- 22:57Speaker 1: It's good to have your back up just up to
- 22:59Speaker 1: speed and not getting no reps. But then the counter
- 23:02Speaker 1: that would be Dalton, like as Adam mentioned and Andrew confirmed,
- 23:06Speaker 1: Dalton's played in this offense before.
- 23:07Speaker 3: It's McKee who really needs the reps.
- 23:10Speaker 1: But again we don't know how the reps are being
- 23:12Speaker 1: divided when the media isn't watching. So it's all it
- 23:15Speaker 1: is funny now that you think about Adam, because it's
- 23:17Speaker 1: funny how it makes people have mind pretzels when it
- 23:19Speaker 1: could just be a nothing burger.
- 23:21Speaker 2: It is interesting now, but I s's interesting. It is
- 23:24Speaker 2: interesting when I when I first heard about this.
- 23:25Speaker 6: So it's like, what, like that's that's the most bizarre
- 23:30Speaker 6: thing I've ever heard, Like makes no sense, But just
- 23:33Speaker 6: talking to coaches for twenty seven years, I just know
- 23:35Speaker 6: they do things for a reason. They just don't throw
- 23:37Speaker 6: it on a whim, like there's thought, there's thought put
- 23:39Speaker 6: into it, Like but why I want to know the
- 23:41Speaker 6: why it's happened.
- 23:42Speaker 2: It's happened.
- 23:42Speaker 6: That's fine, it's it's whatever happens. Happened, but I want
- 23:45Speaker 6: to know the why behind it. Why are they doing this?
- 23:47Speaker 3: Yeah? Crazy?
- 23:48Speaker 1: And Nick Nick Sirianni didn't just come out and say
- 23:50Speaker 1: why when he was asked.
- 23:51Speaker 3: I mean, that would just be a total give.
- 23:53Speaker 2: But he could have. He could have shot it down.
- 23:54Speaker 6: No, what I I think Zach Berman asked that it
- 23:57Speaker 6: was a zacht Literally as soon as the press conversation start,
- 24:00Speaker 6: he said, Hey, what who's your number two quarterback?
- 24:02Speaker 2: I think was the question.
- 24:04Speaker 6: Now if maybe if he asked them ten minutes later,
- 24:06Speaker 6: he would have said, hey, we're just trying to get
- 24:09Speaker 6: Andy reps because he's new.
- 24:11Speaker 2: He's new to our team. I want to get him.
- 24:14Speaker 2: I want to get him some reps with the twos.
- 24:16Speaker 2: But he didn't say that. He could have said that.
- 24:18Speaker 2: He didn't do that, right, That's why I could have
- 24:19Speaker 2: shot this thing down.
- 24:20Speaker 3: He didn't do that, say anything.
- 24:22Speaker 4: No, Yeah, I guess if I'm trying to rationalize, you
- 24:24Speaker 4: could look and say Tanner needs the reps right now.
- 24:26Speaker 4: But Andy is familiar with this system, so maybe he
- 24:29Speaker 4: can be someone who sets an example for for what,
- 24:32Speaker 4: for how it's supposed to look and gets the ball
- 24:35Speaker 4: out of his hands a little quicker and then things
- 24:37Speaker 4: like that.
- 24:38Speaker 5: I don't I don't know. It is a fascinating situation.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Andrew. I'll tell you what what you just said.
- 24:43Speaker 6: When when Andy don't play for John Gruden, I mean
- 24:45Speaker 6: Jay Gruden with the Bengals.
- 24:47Speaker 2: When Jay was the OC, he was quick draw mcgral man.
- 24:50Speaker 6: He when he his processing, he started to really breakdown
- 24:54Speaker 6: his processing later in his career with Dallas and moving.
- 24:57Speaker 6: You know, he just became a journeyman. He sometimes you
- 24:59Speaker 6: lose your whatever the case may be. But when he
- 25:02Speaker 6: was really good early in his career, before he got
- 25:04Speaker 6: he had that hand injury where he was.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Headed towards being an MVP candidate.
- 25:09Speaker 6: Quick decisions bought Chad Johnson and whoever else they had.
- 25:13Speaker 3: He got the.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Muhammed, good call by you.
- 25:19Speaker 6: Some of the tight ends he got rid of that
- 25:21Speaker 6: football Tyler Eifert, you remember.
- 25:23Speaker 5: Him, Marvin Marvin Jones.
- 25:26Speaker 2: Jones, good call. Yeah. They were loaded man. And he
- 25:30Speaker 2: was really good, listen, he was really good.
- 25:31Speaker 3: He just could't win a playoff game.
- 25:32Speaker 2: That was you know, that was he couldn't win the
- 25:34Speaker 2: Prime Time. Yeah. He hit all the records on.
- 25:35Speaker 3: The Prime Time. Yeah, there were a couple of No.
- 25:38Speaker 6: He Andrew makes a great point. He does know that,
- 25:41Speaker 6: but and he also has not been here before. It
- 25:43Speaker 6: doesn't know these players, So there's a I have to
- 25:48Speaker 6: believe it's got to be more than that. Well, we're
- 25:50Speaker 6: gonna find out, and we'll we'll see. It's bizarre to
- 25:54Speaker 6: me because as much as they've loved him behind the scenes,
- 25:56Speaker 6: it's just odd.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Anyway, let's move on.

- 27:22Speaker 1: an addition here. Aj Epanessa he loved.
- 27:26Speaker 3: How do you like it?
- 27:27Speaker 6: He's a power defensive lineman. He's not an edge rusher.
- 27:29Speaker 6: Just about what people think. He is talking to people
- 27:32Speaker 6: work with him in the past. He played his entire
- 27:35Speaker 6: career in forty three with Sean McDermott. He was drafted
- 27:38Speaker 6: to be a power end, which is generally the run side.
- 27:41Speaker 2: You know.
- 27:42Speaker 6: He's yeah, yeah, he really, As someone told me, he's
- 27:46Speaker 6: his six foot six, forty three defensive and he should
- 27:48Speaker 6: have played in thirty four, which he's going to play
- 27:50Speaker 6: in here now the Eagles running thirty four, he should
- 27:53Speaker 6: play as a seven technique.
- 27:55Speaker 2: I guess that's really what he he's got six six,
- 27:57Speaker 2: two sixty. Yeah, he's really a longing the.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Way for people. He means he lines up over the
- 28:01Speaker 3: offensive tackles.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Yes, right, he's built for it.
- 28:04Speaker 6: And I did he not fail a team's physical in
- 28:08Speaker 6: spring on my wrong about that and free agency?
- 28:11Speaker 3: Yeah, it was the Cleveland Browns that Yeah.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Yeah, he's a little light for the three for a
- 28:17Speaker 1: seven though he's two hundred and sixty pounds, usually.
- 28:19Speaker 2: He might be. He see he was, but that's what Usually.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Your ends or are closer to three hundred pounds because
- 28:25Speaker 1: they're stoppers.
- 28:26Speaker 6: You could be too eighty two nine, Well maybe put
- 28:28Speaker 6: weight on, don't know, but I'm just telling with his length.
- 28:33Speaker 2: To draft him in the second round as the Bills
- 28:34Speaker 2: did the Bill.
- 28:35Speaker 6: He got product. Listen, he got production. He actually got
- 28:38Speaker 6: better a than a sacker. But he's just not a
- 28:41Speaker 6: he's not a true edge crusher. I think people have
- 28:44Speaker 6: mislabeled him.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Right, but which he doesn't have great hands. I mean
- 28:48Speaker 1: he's strong at ioway, but.
- 28:50Speaker 2: He's really long. He's super strong. At Panessa, he's super strong.
- 28:56Speaker 4: Well, he has a similar bill to Joe Tryon, who's
- 28:58Speaker 4: six foot five to sixty pounds.
- 29:01Speaker 6: Sopes is thicker. Yeah, he looks like he looks like a.
- 29:07Speaker 1: I was gonna say, try On is more a customs
- 29:09Speaker 1: lining up like in the two point and or just
- 29:11Speaker 1: rushing from the edge and and.
- 29:14Speaker 6: Try and you're just talking about weight, but this guy
- 29:19Speaker 6: is a this guy because remember.
- 29:21Speaker 2: A nickel, you generally play forty three front.
- 29:23Speaker 6: Anyway, now we're not taking's gonna be on the team,
- 29:25Speaker 6: but we'll see in training camp how they line him
- 29:27Speaker 6: up because he hasn't playing the scheme before. So we're
- 29:30Speaker 6: we're gonna, you know, we're gonna see. Yes, uh, Buffalo
- 29:33Speaker 6: got production at him. It's not that he didn't do
- 29:35Speaker 6: well at.
- 29:36Speaker 5: Times twenty four sacks, but.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Yeah, he had production.
- 29:39Speaker 6: But he's really that's not really what he is. I
- 29:41Speaker 6: think some people when they look at numbers, oh he's
- 29:44Speaker 6: he's definitely interesting. Not really if you watch his tape
- 29:46Speaker 6: and we'll look at his length, but.
- 29:50Speaker 1: I think he will see and then uh, Michael Jordan,
- 29:53Speaker 1: I think he's hold on. I Thinkinessa is ideally like
- 29:55Speaker 1: you're you're at this stage of his career, you're when
- 29:58Speaker 1: you're rushing the passer, usually a mour man.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Front, not a five man front.
- 30:01Speaker 1: So he's like three right, so he's like your interior detail.
- 30:05Speaker 1: I almost think I'd rather have him on the inside
- 30:07Speaker 1: and use that burst like they do with Brandon and No,
- 30:10Speaker 1: that would be great. But then they're like, wait a minute,
- 30:12Speaker 1: you got Jordan Davis, you got Jayalen Carter.
- 30:13Speaker 3: You gotta know, you got Moro Joe. You got to.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Remember remember coming.
- 30:17Speaker 6: He's coming here as a try he tried out, right,
- 30:21Speaker 6: He's gonna be brought in training camp. He's just got
- 30:23Speaker 6: to get through each week to see if he's even
- 30:24Speaker 6: gonna be in the roster. Yeah, we have to understand,
- 30:27Speaker 6: and well we'll see where he lines up in training camp.
- 30:28Speaker 6: I just like, I like this, Andrew, and I saw
- 30:31Speaker 6: the tryout group. Who is the Davis guy you you
- 30:33Speaker 6: brought up?
- 30:34Speaker 2: Andrew to me that.
- 30:35Speaker 5: It was Joaquin Davis from like North Carolina eighty. I
- 30:41Speaker 5: don't know it was. It was a small coach that James.
- 30:45Speaker 2: Courchet was there. It was a punt returner.
- 30:47Speaker 3: By the way, the.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Eagles are not very deep in punt returner.
- 30:49Speaker 3: I know they need a really interesting signing from.
- 30:52Speaker 6: I asked Andrew on Wednesday, I said, Andrew, who the
- 30:54Speaker 6: hell is their punt returner on the covey?
- 30:57Speaker 4: I mean you you would think that maybe they would
- 30:58Speaker 4: give Hollywood Brown a look there, given his speed, maybe
- 31:01Speaker 4: in Elijah Moork and try to carve out a role
- 31:04Speaker 4: for himself other than wide receiver, to try and give
- 31:07Speaker 4: himself a good chance to make them.
- 31:08Speaker 5: I mean, we'll see.
- 31:09Speaker 1: We know Cooper, we know Vic Fangil will march right
- 31:12Speaker 1: into Nick Siriani's office with like a weapon if he
- 31:15Speaker 1: tries to make Cooper to Gen the punt returner.
- 31:18Speaker 3: That is not happening.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Vic is not allowing Cooper to Gen to be a
- 31:21Speaker 1: punt returner. So I don't to me, the candidates, like
- 31:24Speaker 1: you said, are Marquise Brown and a guy and Eli
- 31:28Speaker 1: Moore who might not make the team, and then who
- 31:31Speaker 1: not not too many you know.
- 31:34Speaker 4: Also, and we're way down the line here, but you
- 31:36Speaker 4: can also put someone like Cubby on the practice squad,
- 31:38Speaker 4: elevate him for three weeks. Sometimes the roster has a
- 31:41Speaker 4: way of shaping out. By that point, a roster spot freeze.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Up Yeah, you can even keep pro proche on the
- 31:47Speaker 1: on the a veteran on your practice squad in case
- 31:50Speaker 1: you need him to return punts for a couple of weeks.
- 31:52Speaker 5: Because he's been there, they have to sign him.
- 31:54Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, that's what I'm saying if he winds
- 31:56Speaker 1: up making the team, because it's been decent.
- 31:58Speaker 2: He's been a.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Journeyman wide receiver who's played for the Ravens, He's played
- 32:01Speaker 1: for the Browns.
- 32:01Speaker 3: What else he played for? He played for another team too.
- 32:04Speaker 2: He's only going to stay in league as a pumper turner.
- 32:07Speaker 2: I mean it.
- 32:08Speaker 5: Yeah, great kid too. I interviewed him before the twenty
- 32:11Speaker 5: twenty draft.
- 32:12Speaker 2: There you go, all right, before.
- 32:13Speaker 3: We get out of here.
- 32:14Speaker 1: I mean, we haven't really talked about the defense. And
- 32:16Speaker 1: I know Andrew that just talking to you and reading
- 32:18Speaker 1: your stuff. I mean, requoll And has has come as
- 32:21Speaker 1: advertised so far. And I think you and Adam had
- 32:24Speaker 1: the experience that I've had before sometimes with certain athletes
- 32:27Speaker 1: where once you actually see them, like stand next to them,
- 32:30Speaker 1: you realize how uniquely built they are.
- 32:32Speaker 2: You know.
- 32:33Speaker 3: I always talk about my.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Time where I met Flarry Fitzgerald and I was I
- 32:36Speaker 1: can almost like not pay attention to the conversation because
- 32:39Speaker 1: wide receivers aren't built like that.
- 32:40Speaker 3: It's it's just so striking.
- 32:42Speaker 1: But what's it like seeing Rikuolan out there running as
- 32:45Speaker 1: fast as he does at that size?
- 32:46Speaker 5: Adam, go ahead, this is your first shot at seeing him.
- 32:48Speaker 5: What do you got?
- 32:50Speaker 6: So I happen to see him many years ago at
- 32:55Speaker 6: whatever game I saw him at in twenty two senior ball,
- 32:59Speaker 6: whatever the.
- 32:59Speaker 3: Hell he might have grown three inches since then.
- 33:02Speaker 2: I forget.
- 33:03Speaker 6: I just remember, like, just he is as advertised. He's
- 33:10Speaker 6: a legit six four Now I understand smitten in practice,
- 33:14Speaker 6: and look that A. J. Brown's not there and not
- 33:17Speaker 6: that Makai Lemon movie match up on the most but again,
- 33:19Speaker 6: that would be fun. I don't have much out there receiver,
- 33:22Speaker 6: but to see him just dominate, it's just like he
- 33:25Speaker 6: it's funny. I was sick of It's like it reminded
- 33:27Speaker 6: me of a way different scale. But when Miles Garrett
- 33:31Speaker 6: came in here two years ago and just house the
- 33:32Speaker 6: Eagles offensive line, it was kind of like he wasn't
- 33:35Speaker 6: being tested and he was like, like these guys are gnats,
- 33:38Speaker 6: Like these these guys taken by me.
- 33:41Speaker 2: I just thought it was kind of he dominated. I
- 33:43Speaker 2: understand it. So it's it's flight football, it's it's off
- 33:46Speaker 2: season practice. They mean it means nothing to me, right,
- 33:48Speaker 2: But I only just I.
- 33:49Speaker 6: Look at footwork, backpedal, stop and start, body type, waight,
- 33:57Speaker 6: just the showing things I look for.
- 33:59Speaker 2: I try to get out of going to these practices.
- 34:01Speaker 2: He was he dominated. I know he wasn't being tested much.
- 34:04Speaker 6: But Andrew, he's so he's a receiver because he's a
- 34:07Speaker 6: former receiver playing corner, and he's so much taller than
- 34:11Speaker 6: all their receivers. He Wix is tall. He's just under
- 34:14Speaker 6: six to two. He's way bigger than he is.
- 34:16Speaker 4: Yeah, he's kind of a bowie out there, has really
- 34:18Speaker 4: good ball skills. You see his ability to match carry
- 34:21Speaker 4: and deliver. We'll see what happens when the pads come
- 34:23Speaker 4: on and the competition ramps up in training camp. But
- 34:26Speaker 4: I have to tell you, guys, there's probably not a
- 34:29Speaker 4: more enticing matchup for me then to watch Reek Wall
- 34:31Speaker 4: and go up against Kayle Lemon or Don Tavian Wicks
- 34:35Speaker 4: in one on ones in training camp.
- 34:36Speaker 2: That's one ones.
- 34:37Speaker 6: I love those, yeah, because that's when you get match
- 34:40Speaker 6: up with guys you probably wouldn't be an eleven on eleven.
- 34:43Speaker 6: It just they they'll just match it. They they mix
- 34:45Speaker 6: and match a lot of guys. It's actually pretty cool.
- 34:49Speaker 6: But yeah, wollen he looks the part. But let's let's
- 34:53Speaker 6: let's let's get to let's get to training camp. See
- 34:55Speaker 6: how he does.
- 34:57Speaker 3: I gotta I gotta ask though.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Was there a play uh where Woolan was matched up
- 35:02Speaker 1: on like Elijah Moore and he broke up a pass.
- 35:04Speaker 3: To him or something like that?
- 35:05Speaker 2: Is that? No? The big one is he had the pick.
- 35:07Speaker 2: He had the pick against God or he just know that.
- 35:10Speaker 1: But somebody I thought I saw that he was up
- 35:13Speaker 1: against Elijah Moore, and I can't think of a worse mismatch.
- 35:15Speaker 3: Yeah, five nine Elijah Moore than they go up against
- 35:20Speaker 3: against six FOURK.
- 35:21Speaker 2: Wooland with the I have a foot on him.
- 35:23Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's yeah.
- 35:25Speaker 4: Well, he defended Hollywood Brown pretty well last week on
- 35:28Speaker 4: that on that route that I was telling you guys
- 35:29Speaker 4: about the go ball, and Hollywood Brown's not a big
- 35:32Speaker 4: guy either, but it almost looked like Greek Walling gets
- 35:35Speaker 4: his body and sort of blocks him off and it's
- 35:37Speaker 4: just so tough to get around.
- 35:39Speaker 6: Nice we'll dig more than are our notebooks in the
- 35:43Speaker 6: future show, since we've got six weeks left until training camp.
- 35:46Speaker 6: But I was I know it. I'm just talking about conceptually.
- 35:49Speaker 6: As you mentioned earlier, it does look really fun. It
- 35:52Speaker 6: looks like it could be fun, but they got to execute.
- 35:55Speaker 6: Guy's got to do what they're told, like they just
- 35:58Speaker 6: gotta they gotta listen to the coaches and and execute.
- 36:00Speaker 6: Jalen's got to buy in. It sounds great, said all
- 36:03Speaker 6: the right stuff. We've been fooled before. We'll see what happens.
- 36:06Speaker 6: But this thing has a chance to look really interesting
- 36:09Speaker 6: this season. I know it's we had heard things, we
- 36:13Speaker 6: knew about some things that were coming here when Manu
- 36:15Speaker 6: was hired, but you don't know until you get there.
- 36:17Speaker 6: But my first impression is pretty damn good.
- 36:19Speaker 2: Well, it doesn't mean a whole lot yet because.
- 36:21Speaker 6: We're in early June, but I'm very interested to see
- 36:25Speaker 6: what this thing looks like, as he Andrew brought up
- 36:27Speaker 6: in training camp.
- 36:27Speaker 2: Very interested.
- 36:28Speaker 1: All right, here's what's going to be coming up within
- 36:31Speaker 1: the next days and weeks here on inside the Birds. First,
- 36:33Speaker 1: the CHECKO is going to do is to CHECKO daily
- 36:35Speaker 1: is going to be giving you guys more intel from
- 36:38Speaker 1: what went on the last two days at the camp.
- 36:41Speaker 1: He's going to do some stock up stock down stuff
- 36:43Speaker 1: on his to checko dailies. We're going to have Sam
- 36:46Speaker 1: Finkle back with us probably Friday morning. We'll have inside
- 36:49Speaker 1: the data, which is a continuation of when we started
- 36:52Speaker 1: just using predictive modeling to figure out what contract extensions
- 36:55Speaker 1: for certain players might look like. And then Adam and
- 36:58Speaker 1: I will get back into our series next week starting
- 37:02Speaker 1: on continuing on to defense, where we're looking at contracts
- 37:06Speaker 1: at each position, what it means for each player's future.
- 37:09Speaker 1: And uh, you know that that's been some really extensive
- 37:12Speaker 1: stuff we've been doing there.
- 37:14Speaker 2: And one more Greg Cosell is coming back.
- 37:16Speaker 3: And Cosell, yep, go ahead, what are we doing with him?
- 37:19Speaker 3: So we are, well, we'll be recording it soon.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Well that's kind of a TBA and when we're gonna
- 37:23Speaker 1: drop it, but every uh summer as our inside the
- 37:27Speaker 1: Bird's listeners know, and maybe we have new people who
- 37:30Speaker 1: haven't familiar with it, but we bring in Greg Cosel
- 37:33Speaker 1: them the tape breakdown guru that he is, and we
- 37:36Speaker 1: do an NFC East preview because all the moves have
- 37:39Speaker 1: now been made, all the rookies are in and all that,
- 37:42Speaker 1: and Greg gives us his tape breakdown perspective on each team.
- 37:47Speaker 1: It's a four part series with all four division teams,
- 37:50Speaker 1: so we got a lot of great stuff coming up
- 37:52Speaker 1: in the next few weeks. On inside, It's funny you
- 37:54Speaker 1: said all the moves are made. Well, look Washington once
- 37:56Speaker 1: Brandon ayuk I but the moves or who the hell
- 38:01Speaker 1: knows what he could even do at this point. Oka,
- 38:03Speaker 1: If we're gonna do it at Washington preview, we'll go.
- 38:05Speaker 6: Yeah, and by the way, they're gonna they want it,
- 38:06Speaker 6: Brandon and I will be there like the fifth receiver
- 38:08Speaker 6: or fourth receiver they played.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Football in a long time. But that's another story.
- 38:13Speaker 4: You know what we should also do, guys, is training
- 38:15Speaker 4: camp stars of years past.
- 38:17Speaker 5: Yeah, that might be a good Oh yeah.
- 38:19Speaker 3: That's July. Uh yeah yeah, or Hank Baskets of the world.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Are Greg saladmatize something?
- 38:27Speaker 6: Lorenzo Booker, Yeah, yeah, Lorenzo Booker, Yes, I was reminded
- 38:32Speaker 6: of that by someone a couple of weeks ago. Yeah, yeah,
- 38:34Speaker 6: but I lived, and so did you. Jeff the Hank basket. Yeah,
- 38:39Speaker 6: I'm just telling you that was one of those like
- 38:41Speaker 6: is this real or not? And it wouldn't stop until
- 38:44Speaker 6: it stopped. When it stopped, it was ugly. But you
- 38:47Speaker 6: know Nate Brown. Until they got to train to contend,
- 38:49Speaker 6: Nate Brown started dropping past his Nate Brown to another one.
- 38:52Speaker 1: Yeah, Lorenzo Booker for sure won the Lee Heisman Award.
- 38:55Speaker 3: He was but he was unbelievable.
- 38:58Speaker 5: Fannie MoMA, Yeah, stop.
- 39:02Speaker 2: That's why he did it.
- 39:03Speaker 5: To wait.
- 39:04Speaker 1: In ten years from now, are we gonna be who
- 39:06Speaker 1: is that guy you mentioned before?
- 39:08Speaker 2: Henry Josie Brother? Nothing will be Henry Josie.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Nothing he was Davis.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Yeah, in like ten years from now, when we're doing inside, Well,
- 39:17Speaker 1: if I'm still alive, Andrew's probably gonna be running at
- 39:20Speaker 1: that point with two other slubs.
- 39:22Speaker 3: But we'll be like, oh yeah, Waki Davis. Remember how
- 39:26Speaker 3: he ripped it up in that Training Camp.
- 39:28Speaker 6: Practice Michael Gas person, Come on, man, hey, look man,
- 39:33Speaker 6: we referenced Michael Gaspers, Andrew and I practice Wednesday, and Andrew, Brent,
- 39:39Speaker 6: Andrew and I love as Jeff does. If folks don't know,
- 39:42Speaker 6: we love the Training Camp Superstars. You never hear from
- 39:43Speaker 6: him after one practice or of the summer, like they
- 39:46Speaker 6: either never play football game, they go to the CFL.
- 39:49Speaker 6: But what happens is the fans get attached to a
- 39:52Speaker 6: training camp superstar and you literally it's like when the
- 39:55Speaker 6: guy gets cut, you've cut. They were part of their family.
- 39:58Speaker 6: It's almost they're not related to the player, but they
- 40:00Speaker 6: get so attached to the player, like youry.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Like, how can she hear mcgride not make the team?
- 40:06Speaker 2: Right here? McBride?
- 40:07Speaker 5: Right right?
- 40:08Speaker 2: Did he go to Delaware State?
- 40:09Speaker 1: He did go to Delaware State, same school at Darnarian
- 40:12Speaker 1: mccant's another Lee Heisman.
- 40:17Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, all right, yeah. We better stop. This
- 40:21Speaker 3: is too much Shenanigans. We gotta save this for some
- 40:23Speaker 3: future podcasts.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Thanks everybody watching for Andrew to check on, and Adam Kaplan,
- 40:28Speaker 1: Jeff Mosher, you've been.
- 40:29Speaker 3: Watching Inside the Birds.
- 40:30Speaker 1: We're listening to Inside the Birds number one in Eagles Intel,
