Latest / Sri Aurobindo Studies / Vital and Mental Life Forms Interact With Us in the Material World

- 0:01We scour the Galaxy for signs of intelligent life elsewhere.
- 0:07The reality is that unless an extraterrestrial race has found
- 0:12a way to circumvent the constant of the speed of light through
- 0:16some method of folding space or creating wormholes that truncate
- 0:21the distance to be travelled, setting up a multi thousand year
- 0:26multi generational Starship to visit other solar systems, or
- 0:30possibly finding a way to travel safely at speeds far in excess
- 0:35of the speed of light. It is not likely nor feasible
- 0:40that such extraterrestrial beings residing in other
- 0:44planetary systems in other parts of the Galaxy or further away in
- 0:48other galaxies will be able to visit us.
- 0:52Reports of UFO phenomena should be investigated not only as to
- 0:57whether there has been interstellar travel by an
- 1:00extraterrestrial race or new discoveries by humanity that
- 1:05lead to harnessing of powers that exhibit these forms of
- 1:08motion, but also whether such things are potentially evidence
- 1:13of mental or vital beings manifesting the capability of
- 1:17solidifying vibrations into forms that can be observed and
- 1:22interact with our physical reality.
- 1:26Another point often overlooked is that consciousness may
- 1:30actually move faster than light and is not bound by distance.
- 1:36We have always been wedded in our thinking about physical
- 1:39beings transporting themselves in physical vehicles across
- 1:43galactic or intergalactic distances.
- 1:47However, we may also consider that beings project
- 1:52consciousness and when they reach a proposed destination,
- 1:57they use elements they find there to build the locally
- 2:00needed physical bodies and vehicles.
- 2:04We have found clues of other life forms right here where we
- 2:07are, but we largely disregard the significance of the clues we
- 2:12have received. We tend to disregard the fact
- 2:16that with the extended ability to observe microscopic levels,
- 2:20we have an indeed discovered that life exists at the single
- 2:25cell level. This, however, is not
- 2:28necessarily the most significant clue we have.
- 2:31We now understand that there are ranges of vibration to which our
- 2:36senses are not accessible. As we explore further, we begin
- 2:42to see that there are vital forces, mental forces and
- 2:46spiritual forces active, which influence and act upon us even
- 2:51though we cannot directly perceive them.
- 2:54Many people bring back reports of beings that interact with
- 2:57them through dreams, trance, out of body experiences,
- 3:02extraordinary experiences, near death experiences, et cetera,
- 3:07which correlate with what we know of the energetic forces
- 3:12that we can identify. It is not a very big leap to
- 3:16accept that the forces we experience are in many cases
- 3:20expressions of fully conscious, intentional beings who are
- 3:25acting out of their own motives and self-interest, or at the
- 3:29very least playing their defined role in the manifestation of the
- 3:34divine action in the universe, Sri Aurobindo writes quote.
- 3:41But the contacts do not stop here, for there is also an
- 3:45opening of our mind and life parts to a great range of
- 3:48subjective, objective experiences in which these
- 3:52planes present themselves no longer as extensions of
- 3:56subjective being and consciousness, but as worlds.
- 4:01For the experiences there are organized as they are in our own
- 4:04world, but on a different plan, with a different process and law
- 4:09of action, and in a substance which belongs to a superphysical
- 4:14nature. This organization includes, as
- 4:18on on earth, the existence of beings who have or take forms,
- 4:23manifest themselves, or are naturally manifested in an
- 4:27embodying substance, but a substance other than ours, a
- 4:32subtle substance tangible only to subtle sense, a superphysical
- 4:37form, matter. These worlds and beings may have
- 4:42nothing to do with ourselves and our life.
- 4:45They may exercise no action upon us.
- 4:48But often also they enter into secret communication with Earth
- 4:53existence, obey or embody, and are the intermediaries and
- 4:59instruments of the cosmic powers and influences of which we have
- 5:05a subjective experience or themselves act.
- 5:08By their own initiation upon the terrestrial world's life and
- 5:12motives and happenings. It is possible to receive help
- 5:17or guidance or harm or misguidance from these beings.
- 5:22It is possible even to become subject to their influence, to
- 5:26be possessed by their invasion or domination, to be
- 5:30instrumentalized by them for their good or evil purpose.
- 5:35At times the progress of earthly life seems to be a vast field of
- 5:39battle between superphysical forces of either character,
- 5:44those that strive to uplift, encourage and illumine, and
- 5:49those that strive to deflect, depress or prevent or even
- 5:54shatter our upward evolution or the soul's self-expression in
- 5:59the material universe. Some of these beings, powers or
- 6:04forces are such that we think of them as divine.
- 6:08They are luminous, benignant, or powerfully helpful.
- 6:13There are others that are Titanic, gigantic or demoniac,
- 6:18inordinate influences, instigators or creators, often
- 6:22of vast and formidable inner upheavals or of actions that
- 6:26overpass the normal human measure.
- 6:30There may also be an awareness of influences, presences, beings
- 6:35that do not seem to belong to other worlds beyond us, but are
- 6:40here as a hidden element behind the veil in terrestrial nature.
- 6:45As contact with the superphysical is possible, a
- 6:49contact can also take place, subjective or objective, or at
- 6:54least objectivized, between our own consciousness and the
- 6:58consciousness of other once embodied beings who have passed
- 7:02into a super physical status in these other regions of
- 7:06existence. It is possible also to pass
- 7:11beyond a subjective contact or a subtle sense perception, and in
- 7:17certain subliminal states of consciousness to enter actually
- 7:21into other worlds and know something of their secrets.
- 7:25It is the more objective order of otherworldly experience that
- 7:30sees most the imagination of mankind and the past.
- 7:35But it was put by popular belief into a gross objective statement
- 7:39which unduly assimilated these phenomena to those of the
- 7:43physical world with which we are familiar.
- 7:46For it is the normal tendency of our mind to turn everything into
- 7:51forms or symbols proper to its own kind and terms of
- 7:55experience. End Quote Reference Sri
