- 0:00Just when you thought you'd seen it all,
- 0:02check out the latest addition to the UK police force.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: We are building this national innovative policy with a robot dog.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: This is not a joke.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: This is now being tested on behalf of the home office.
- 0:18Yes,
- 0:19firearms training,
- 0:21thermal imaging camera,
- 0:23room scanning,
- 0:25weapons recognition capabilities,
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: and they can be using all sorts of different things in the future.
- 0:32They make it all friendly looking now,
- 0:34but just wait until it's got a rifle on the top of it.
- 0:37So the UK has just announced something straight out of a
- 0:40dystopian movie.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Robot police dogs.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: They're pitching it as innovation and efficiency,
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: but let's be honest here,
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: this is about control.
- 0:52Because once these machines start patrolling our streets and
- 0:55enforcing the law
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: without human judgment or accountability,
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: where does it end,
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: ladies and gents?
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: So today we're looking at why this isn't progress at all,
- 1:06it's actually the beginning of something in my mind to be far
- 1:09more terrifying
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: because these are AI powered remote controlled robot dog police officers
- 1:18They're set to begin operational capability in 2026 and they're
- 1:23already being
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: tested right now on UK streets equipped with night vision,
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: thermal imaging,
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: 3D scanners,
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: weapon detection,
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: AI facial recognition technology.
- 1:34Of course the government's calling it developed surveillance
- 1:39but I remember George
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Orwell calling it telescreens and now they've got legs.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Comrade!
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: This is Big Brother.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: probably a lot more advanced telescreens,
- 1:55but they say these machines can patrol dangerous areas without
- 1:59risking human police
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: lives.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: They can chase suspects over ridiculous,
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: very rough terrain,
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: they can navigate stairwells,
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: and they can even communicate through built-in loud speakers.
- 2:12The police say they don't get tired,
- 2:14they don't ask questions,
- 2:15and they don't hesitate.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: And that's precisely what unsettles me.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: A robo-dog doesn't ask questions.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: It simply follows orders.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: It doesn't read body language, tone or intent.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: Its decisions are filtered through algorithms and camera feeds,
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: a cold binary judgment of who it's been programmed to treat as a threat.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Keyword there, programmed.
- 2:45The government claims this is going to save money and make the
- 2:48police more
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: efficient with reduced strain on short-staffed police and 24-7 patrols.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Hold on,
- 2:55maybe they can get rid of the hate crime unit and all the
- 3:00online social media
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: control measures units and they might have more manpower available.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Wait a second, can I just say manpower?
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: Is that a hate crime?
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Am I saying people power, police power?
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Ignorance is strength.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Freedom is strength.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: They also say this is going to keep officers safe from harm.
- 3:23Well,
- 3:24isn't that part of being a police officer to step in when
- 3:27things go wrong?
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: It's like when I was a soldier.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: No one ever said to me, by the way, this is a dangerous job.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Just so you know,
- 3:34when you go into a war or a war zone or a conflict and people
- 3:39are shooting at you,
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: there's danger there.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: You just need to be, I mean, it's obvious, obviously.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: And there's also this huge potential for abuse here.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: Once this government starts using these robots,
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: it's going to be very hard to roll it back because it will be normalized.
- 3:57In effect,
- 3:57it will be a permanent expansion of state power to suppress
- 4:02dissent or protesters.
- 4:05The police have already used these AI drones with facial
- 4:07recognition technology
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: this week when they made 423 arrests at Notting Hill Carnival.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Surprise.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: You know, so every second that they operate, they're scanning your face.
- 4:21They're recording your movements,
- 4:23mapping out your environment and flagging information.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: suspicious behavior dictated by an algorithm.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: if you're getting something from this video,
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: please do me a favor real quick and just hit that subscribe button.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Really appreciate that.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: Leave a comment below as well.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: Let me know your thoughts, make your voice heard on this issue.
- 4:45They say these robot dogs are about public safety,
- 4:48and they use the term as well.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: We're all in it together.
- 4:51And if you have nothing to hide,
- 4:53why would you mind giving up your freedom for the greater good?
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: This is narcissism, what they are putting out.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: in practice,
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: though,
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: if we look at it all,
- 5:03they are really about mass data collection under the guise of
- 5:07law enforcement.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: Because...
- 5:09Realistically,
- 5:10how are these tiny things expected to chase down the rest
- 5:14criminals right now?
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: They're not, but they will be able to later.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Robot dogs had been deployed in the US already,
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: but there were concerns surrounding AI and facial recognition,
- 5:27and they also found that the technology was equipped with
- 5:30biases towards certain
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: groups of people
- 5:34that the ai thought were more likely to be the criminal in the
- 5:38case or may commit a
- 5:40crime of course that is not permitted in today's world of
- 5:45course in fact just
- 5:46recently u.s police used a robot to catch a man in fact check
- 5:49out this video here
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: Here you go.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: In fact,
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: if you look at what's happened recently in China,
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: they have developed robot dogs to be equipped with weapons
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: and used by the military.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: This is pretty scary stuff.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 6:38US companies like Ghost Robotics have unveiled and trialed
- 6:42rifle-equipped dogs
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: despite promises from Boston Dynamics not to weaponize these robots.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: These gun-toting robo-dogs could become weapons of mass destruction.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: Have you thought about this?
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Have we not all watched Black Mirror?
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: If not, here's a little reminder for you.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: If this exists elsewhere, the UK can't pretend it won't happen here.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: It's a question of when, not if.
- 7:08We know that the House of Lords established an AI in Weapon
- 7:12Systems Select
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: Committee back in 2023,
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: but not once have they updated their development since then.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: And now out of the blue,
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: we find out there's these new police robots and they're already underway.
- 7:26This sort of says to me,
- 7:29suggests that decision development isn't happening now.
- 7:32the way it's supposed to is happening behind closed doors
- 7:35without democratic debate
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: or public input.
- 7:39It's not hard to imagine these robot dogs being weaponized
- 7:43without our prior knowledge.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: This has happened before.
- 7:46You look at all of the things that we've seen with the Snowden
- 7:50leaks and the
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: tracing,
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: track and trace apps,
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: automatic number plate recognition technology,
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: CCTV,
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: facial recognition,
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: or the online safety act,
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: all these things.
- 8:02The UK is the most surveilled country in Europe and we're never
- 8:06consulted so it's
- 8:07uncertain how much this is going to sort of continue but I
- 8:11think it's going to
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: continue a lot.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: How much is it going to cost taxpayers as well?
- 8:15Well you think the Denver robot dog that police use that cost
- 8:18328,000 and that was
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: just to manufacture one of these things.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: So where does this end?
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: What is the future of these robot police dogs?
- 8:29What technology could be developed or deployed next threatening
- 8:34our future and our freedoms?
- 8:36Will this really ensure safety for our families or is this
- 8:39another attempt to
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: gather data right in front of us on the streets?
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: Ladies and gents, you decide.

- 8:48SPEAKER_00: subscribe if you haven't already,

- 8:52SPEAKER_00: Until next time, take care.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: God bless.
