- 0:01Speaker 1: Why on Sky News. This his Sharry Good Evening. We
- 0:08Speaker 1: start tonight with breaking news. Opposition leader Peter Dutton has
- 0:12Speaker 1: just landed in Israel for a three day trip. As
- 0:15Speaker 1: we go to air, Dutton is currently meeting with Israeli
- 0:18Speaker 1: Foreign Minister Israel Katz. He will then later today local
- 0:23Speaker 1: time meet with Israeli President Isaac Hertzog. This is a
- 0:27Speaker 1: strong show of support from the Coalition towards our closest
- 0:32Speaker 1: ally in the Middle East. It comes as senior figures
- 0:35Speaker 1: in the Israeli government are growing increasingly frustrated with the
- 0:39Speaker 1: Albanezy governments public criticisms and hostilities. I could also reveal
- 0:44Speaker 1: the opposition leader will then meet with hostage families and
- 0:48Speaker 1: former hostages who have now been rescued by Israel. These
- 0:53Speaker 1: will be deeply emotional meetings for Peter Dutton. You hardly
- 0:58Speaker 1: ever hear our current government speak about the hostages. Yet
- 1:02Speaker 1: there are still one hundred and twenty Israelis, including baby
- 1:06Speaker 1: Kafir Bibas, held captive by terrorists in Gaza. Dutton will
- 1:11Speaker 1: also over the coming days travel to the south to
- 1:14Speaker 1: the kibbutzs where Hamas slaughtered entire families, and he'll go
- 1:20Speaker 1: to the site of the Nova Music festival where oney
- 1:23Speaker 1: two hundred young Israelis were gunned down in cold blood.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Dutton is unlikely to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,
- 1:33Speaker 1: who broke his trip to the US to deal with
- 1:35Speaker 1: the escalating situation in the north of Israel. There are
- 1:39Speaker 1: concerns war is imminent after the tragic and atrocious attack
- 1:44Speaker 1: by Hesbela on children over the weekend. Now, Peter Dutton
- 1:49Speaker 1: is the most senior Australian politician to visit since October seventh,
- 1:54Speaker 1: with Anthony Albernizi refusing to go. Alberanizi is one of
- 1:59Speaker 1: the only Western leaders who chose not to visit Israel
- 2:03Speaker 1: to show his support over the past nine months, and
- 2:08Speaker 1: when Pennywang eventually visited the region, she didn't bother to
- 2:12Speaker 1: go to the sites of the October seven massacres. This
- 2:17Speaker 1: trip is highly significant. It reinforces Dutton's commitment to Israel,
- 2:23Speaker 1: Australia's ally and to the Jewish community. It's a volatile
- 2:28Speaker 1: situation at the moment on the ground. Already flights are
- 2:31Speaker 1: being canceled to Lebanon amid the tensions with Hesblah and
- 2:35Speaker 1: We'll cross live to Israeli politician Sharon Haskell later this
- 2:39Speaker 1: hour to speak about how she expects this situation is
- 2:43Speaker 1: going to unfold in the North. But Dutton's decision to
- 2:47Speaker 1: make a solidarity trip to Israel is a sign of
- 2:50Speaker 1: how different foreign relations would be under a Dutton prime ministership,
- 2:56Speaker 1: and it highlights the leadership we've been sorely missing from
- 3:00Speaker 1: the Albanese government. Now let's turn to Albanesi's cabinet reshuffle.
- 3:09Speaker 1: There's a cost of living crisis, a housing crisis, and
- 3:13Speaker 1: spiraling power bills and on our streets, lawlessness goes unchecked
- 3:18Speaker 1: and an unprecedented breakdown in social cohesion. This is an
- 3:22Speaker 1: economic and social crisis. Yet you have to ask is
- 3:27Speaker 1: the Prime Minister even serious about fixing these problems, about
- 3:32Speaker 1: making life easier for working families who are struggling. Because
- 3:38Speaker 1: he's put Clara O'Neill in the critical portfolio of housing
- 3:42Speaker 1: and Tony Burke in charge of our national security. Clara
- 3:47Speaker 1: O'Neil comprehensively failed as Home Affairs Minister, a point that
- 3:51Speaker 1: was obvious even to the PM. It's why he moved
- 3:55Speaker 1: her out of that role. Under her watch, Australians were
- 3:59Speaker 1: bashed assaulted and a convicted pedophile allegedly contacted children after
- 4:06Speaker 1: they were released from immigration detention. Clara O'Neil and her
- 4:10Speaker 1: sidekick Andrew Giles failed to protect the community time and
- 4:15Speaker 1: time again. Barely a week went by without the opposition
- 4:19Speaker 1: calling for her scalp.
- 4:22Speaker 2: The best thing would be for Minister Giles and Minister
- 4:25Speaker 2: O'Neil to resign, resign today and if that doesn't happen,
- 4:30Speaker 2: for the Prime Minister to show some strength.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Clara O'Neill is like this, just this rolling train wreck.
- 4:36Speaker 3: She's a complete debarkle, just a walking disaster for the government.
- 4:40Speaker 4: This is an incompetent, hopeless, hapless Home Affairs minister.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Prime Minister should sack Andrew Giles and sack Claara O'Neill.
- 4:49Speaker 1: But it wasn't just the Coalition launching a political attack.
- 4:53Speaker 1: O'Neil faced tough questions in the media.
- 4:55Speaker 5: Too banged legal challenges to come out of this legislation.
- 5:00Speaker 6: I'm so sorry, I've got to go to a metage.
- 5:03Speaker 7: Missus questions are there, what's your response.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Well, we want to know what they did.
- 5:10Speaker 4: One raped a fourteen year old stepdaughter while his wife
- 5:13Speaker 4: gave birth. One rate the sister of the mother of
- 5:16Speaker 4: his infant child, one raped, a disabled fourteen year old
- 5:20Speaker 4: and a sixteen year old.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Do you think that washes look natt.
- 5:25Speaker 4: I completely understand the concern that you have about these
- 5:28Speaker 4: and the crimes that you've listed there are absolutely.
- 5:31Speaker 8: Horrendous and no member of Parliament and no member of
- 5:33Speaker 8: the government is going to disagree with that.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Well, the situation is now so bad that we learned
- 5:39Speaker 1: on the weekend thanks to journalist at Rhiann and Down,
- 5:42Speaker 1: the five hundred and twenty dangerous non citizens were released
- 5:47Speaker 1: from immigration to tension by the Albanezy government in its
- 5:51Speaker 1: first year in power five hundred and twenty oh and
- 5:56Speaker 1: recall that O'Neill called the future president of the United
- 6:00Speaker 1: States son a big baby in social media comments. She
- 6:05Speaker 1: should have been apologizing, in fact, because her own agency
- 6:09Speaker 1: had been slow to grant him a visa. Those comments
- 6:13Speaker 1: were juvenile and unbecoming of a senior government minister. As
- 6:17Speaker 1: her shadow Home Affairs James Patterson pointed out at the time, his.
- 6:22Speaker 9: Purpose is not to exclude people on a political basis
- 6:26Speaker 9: or an ideological basis. People have diverse range of political
- 6:29Speaker 9: views are perfectly entitled to come to Australia as long
- 6:31Speaker 9: as they intend to propagate them in a peaceful way.
- 6:34Speaker 9: And I have not seen any evidence to the contrary
- 6:36Speaker 9: about mister Trump Junior's planned visit to Australia.
- 6:41Speaker 1: And yet Albanizi has now moved Clara O'Neil into the
- 6:44Speaker 1: equally important role of Housing Minister, a portfolio that would
- 6:49Speaker 1: need enormous heavy lifting. Because the Albanzy government has not
- 6:53Speaker 1: built a single completed home under its ten billion dollar
- 6:58Speaker 1: Affordable Housing Fund, despite pledging to build forty thousand homes
- 7:04Speaker 1: within five years. Well just let that sink in. Not
- 7:07Speaker 1: a single home built yet, that's according to Simon Benson's report.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Yet it's spent twenty four million dollars on consultants and
- 7:15Speaker 1: six million on executive salaries, a poor record to say
- 7:20Speaker 1: the least. This is despite the fact that rising rents
- 7:25Speaker 1: are one of the key contributors to our inflation crisis.
- 7:31Speaker 10: A lot of the remaining inflation that sitting in the
- 7:34Speaker 10: Australian economy is driven by supply challenges things like housing.
- 7:37Speaker 10: A rate rise will only make the housing crisis worse.
- 7:41Speaker 10: It will only contribute to even higher rents.
- 7:44Speaker 1: So this means the housing crisis is a big reason
- 7:47Speaker 1: inflation remains high, why the cost of living continues to rise,
- 7:52Speaker 1: and why the RBA has to keep pushing up rates.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Does the Prime Minister really have confidence in Clara O'Neil
- 7:58Speaker 1: to fix this? Give her record over the past two years.
- 8:03Speaker 1: And then there's Tony Burke, the senior government minister who
- 8:07Speaker 1: was slow to properly call out hate preachers and he's
- 8:10Speaker 1: now in charge of Social Cohesion in the critical role
- 8:14Speaker 1: of Home Affairs. Or it was in Tony Burke's own
- 8:17Speaker 1: electorate that this hate preacher you're about to see uttered
- 8:21Speaker 1: these deeply offensive remarks just twenty four hours after October seven.
- 8:28Speaker 6: Smiling and unhappy. I'm it's a day of courage.
- 8:45Speaker 1: On October the tenth, The Australian newspaper reported that Tony
- 8:49Speaker 1: Burke and Chris Bowen were under pressure for failing to
- 8:53Speaker 1: properly condemn local anti Israel preachers and activists who led
- 8:58Speaker 1: rally celebrating her mass's at times. They wrote, Leader of
- 9:02Speaker 1: the House mister Burke failed to directly condemn a preacher
- 9:05Speaker 1: in his electorate who said he was elated at the
- 9:09Speaker 1: murder of Israelis. The head of the nation's peak Jewish
- 9:12Speaker 1: body Alex Rivchin called on the Workplace Relations Minister to
- 9:16Speaker 1: repudiate this incitement in the harshest and clearest terms, he said.
- 9:21Speaker 1: The criticism came after a rally took place in Lakember
- 9:24Speaker 1: in mister Burke's Southwest Sydney electorate, during which speakers described
- 9:28Speaker 1: attacks on Israel as you just heard, as an act
- 9:32Speaker 1: of courage and resistance. Well, Tony Burke himself is pro
- 9:37Speaker 1: Palestinian and anti Israel, and remember he didn't disavow the
- 9:42Speaker 1: abc of the notion that Israel was committing genocide.
- 9:47Speaker 10: I've heard people describe it as a genocide?
- 9:50Speaker 11: Do you see it that way?
- 9:53Speaker 8: I prefer to provide the facts as I just did,
- 9:57Speaker 8: and I think your listeners will will find their own
- 10:00Speaker 8: words to be able to describe it. I think when
- 10:03Speaker 8: we go straight to do we use this word, do
- 10:06Speaker 8: we use that word, we end up in an argument
- 10:08Speaker 8: about linguistics. What I want to talk about is what's
- 10:11Speaker 8: happening to individuals.
- 10:14Speaker 1: But worse than this, what comments that Tony Burke made
- 10:17Speaker 1: at the Woodford Folk Festival where he tried to explain
- 10:21Speaker 1: away a context for the Hamas attacks on October seven.
- 10:25Speaker 1: He said, as you're here. The history of the region
- 10:27Speaker 1: didn't begin on the seventh of October.
- 10:31Speaker 8: Before the seventh of Octobers.
- 10:33Speaker 12: I think it's worth remembering because sometimes this is forgotten
- 10:37Speaker 12: any canal, the word has been genocides us here.
- 10:47Speaker 13: What is your response to those concerns?
- 10:50Speaker 12: Do you share those concerns?
- 10:52Speaker 13: The Israeli defeats minister said there will be no food,
- 10:56Speaker 13: no water, no fuel. This is a complete siege and then.
- 11:00Speaker 8: Described to the community in Gaza as human animals.
- 11:03Speaker 13: The discussion that I believe that I believe makes a
- 11:08Speaker 13: difference is in people hearing the facts of what is
- 11:13Speaker 13: happening on the ground and they will very quickly choose
- 11:18Speaker 13: words to describe it.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Well. ASIO Boss Mike Burgess has warned that Islamic extremism
- 11:27Speaker 1: Islamic extremism is the top domestic terror threat in our country.
- 11:32Speaker 1: But how can Tony Burke be the Minister for Home
- 11:35Speaker 1: Affairs when instead of a clear eyed focus on Islamic
- 11:38Speaker 1: extremism as one of the top threats to Australia, he
- 11:43Speaker 1: chooses to more often than not simply attack Israel instead
- 11:49Speaker 1: will labor figure Cameron Milner, who is Bill Shotten's former
- 11:52Speaker 1: Chief of Staff. He's going to be on my show
- 11:54Speaker 1: tonight and his view is that Tony Burke will be
- 11:58Speaker 1: compromised as Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration because his
- 12:02Speaker 1: seat of Watson is the center of Islamic extremism in Australia.
- 12:06Speaker 1: And Cameron Milner says that Burke will be under local
- 12:09Speaker 1: pressure from his constituents to take in more Palestinian refugees
- 12:14Speaker 1: or Cameron told me today, how could we expect him
- 12:17Speaker 1: to take to cabinet a move to list his book
- 12:20Speaker 1: to Rear, for instance, given its members are already campaigning
- 12:24Speaker 1: against him in his own local seat. There's no question
- 12:30Speaker 1: that under Tony Burke we will see a strengthening of
- 12:33Speaker 1: the anti Israel position in the Albanese government because he's
- 12:37Speaker 1: never been a friend of Israel. Burke's own history in
- 12:41Speaker 1: the immigration portfolio is also worrying. He presided over Operation
- 12:47Speaker 1: Open Borders for the last three and a half months
- 12:50Speaker 1: of the Rudd government back in twenty thirteen. Well two
- 12:54Speaker 1: years after this, in twenty fifteen, Tony Burke spoke to
- 12:58Speaker 1: Labor Faithful about how he proudly abolished temporary protection visas
- 13:04Speaker 1: and he admitted the number of lives the people who
- 13:08Speaker 1: had died under his watch. Have a look.
- 13:12Speaker 8: I was the shadow Minister for Immigration before the two
- 13:15Speaker 8: thousand and seven election. I took to the election and
- 13:21Speaker 8: to this conference a platform that the entire conference cheered.
- 13:26Speaker 8: I changed our platform so that we stood for the
- 13:30Speaker 8: abolition of temporary projection visas. I was there for fewer
- 13:34Speaker 8: than four months, and there are thirty three lives that
- 13:38Speaker 8: were lost on my watch.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Well during the time that he was Immigration minister, Tony
- 13:44Speaker 1: Abbott launched a scathing attack on Tony Burke.
- 13:49Speaker 14: We've had more than fifty thousand illegal arrivals, more than
- 13:52Speaker 14: eight hundred votes, eleven billion dollars in budget blowouts, and
- 13:56Speaker 14: tragically more than a thousand deaths. Sy it's important to
- 14:00Speaker 14: get the facts straight here.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Well, given all of this, it is utterly extraordinary that
- 14:08Speaker 1: Tony Burke is now trying to position himself as a
- 14:10Speaker 1: future Labor leader, as a future prime minister. It's fascical.
- 14:15Speaker 1: If that Albanezy government was doing poorly before on immigration, detention,
- 14:21Speaker 1: on refugees, on social cohesion and more, it can only
- 14:27Speaker 1: get worse with his new team. I mean, you'd laugh
- 14:30Speaker 1: if it wasn't so concerning for our safety and national security.
- 14:39Speaker 1: All right, let's bring in tonight's panel, Sky News host
- 14:42Speaker 1: Steve Price and contributor Joe Hildebrand. Welcome to you both.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Great to see you. Well, let's start with tonight's breaking news.
- 14:49Speaker 15: Joe.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Peter Dutton is right now in Israel. He's going to
- 14:53Speaker 1: be meeting, as I just revealed, with the Israeli President,
- 14:56Speaker 1: Isaac Hertzog, with Israeli Foreign Minister, senior members of the government. Joe,
- 15:01Speaker 1: this stands in obvious contrast to our Prime minister, who
- 15:05Speaker 1: has refused to pay a solidarity visit to Israel since
- 15:09Speaker 1: October seven.
- 15:10Speaker 16: Yeah, look, I'm not I initially said that Anthony Alberanezi
- 15:13Speaker 16: needed to wait for an invitation to visit Israel from
- 15:16Speaker 16: the Prime Minister Edemint. It seems that invitation is not
- 15:19Speaker 16: going to v forthcoming. It hasn't handled it particularly well,
- 15:23Speaker 16: and I think the problem is that you have to
- 15:27Speaker 16: be consistent in these things, and you have to take
- 15:29Speaker 16: the rights down. You will find that he's actually politically
- 15:32Speaker 16: rewarding as well as the right thing to do. And
- 15:35Speaker 16: I think if there hadn't been and he was unequivocal
- 15:38Speaker 16: in condemning the October seven attacks. He wasn't unlike Penny Wong,
- 15:42Speaker 16: he didn't say, oh, you know, we urged Israel to
- 15:45Speaker 16: be proportionate in its response. But again, if he hadn't
- 15:49Speaker 16: been right there, you know, with Israel visiting those communities
- 15:53Speaker 16: that were affected, meeting the Prime Minister, it would make it,
- 15:56Speaker 16: I think politically easier for him to, for example, you know,
- 16:00Speaker 16: move the motion that was moved in New South Wales
- 16:02Speaker 16: Labor Conference over the weekend and to condemn the actions
- 16:06Speaker 16: in Gaza, as it was for President Biden to do so,
- 16:09Speaker 16: for example, because his allegiance to Israel is not under question.
- 16:13Speaker 16: And I think that's where the Labor Party needs to
- 16:15Speaker 16: be and they should take a leaf out of Joe
- 16:18Speaker 16: Biden's book and maybe not Carmlala Harrison.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Well, we'll get to the Labor conference a bit later
- 16:23Speaker 1: in the show. But Steve, the Prime Minister, was interviewed
- 16:26Speaker 1: on Sky Today by Kieran Gilbert and I was interested
- 16:29Speaker 1: to hear him and he doesn't say it often reiterate
- 16:33Speaker 1: government's travel advice that people shouldn't be going to Israel.
- 16:36Speaker 15: Have a quick look, people shouldn't be traveling Australian citizens
- 16:40Speaker 15: shouldn't be traveling to that region given the instability which
- 16:45Speaker 15: is there and the risks of escalation which are there.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I mean, Steve, you'd presume the PM would have known
- 16:52Speaker 1: through dfact that Dutton was making this trip. So perhaps
- 16:56Speaker 1: that's where the comments are going to go over the
- 16:58Speaker 1: next couple of days that Duton should be there.
- 17:02Speaker 17: It really does give the opposition and Peter Dutton in
- 17:06Speaker 17: particular more oxygen to describe Anthony Albanezi as a week leader.
- 17:10Speaker 17: Now you've heard those two words shari on numerous occasions
- 17:15Speaker 17: over the last couple of months. They keep prosecuting this
- 17:18Speaker 17: case that the bloke in the lodge is not a
- 17:21Speaker 17: strong decisive leader. So what Peter Dutton's trip does, of course,
- 17:25Speaker 17: has put even more pressure on Anthony Albanesi in that regard.
- 17:28Speaker 17: So and you can't underestimate either that that is a
- 17:32Speaker 17: dangerous place at the moment. And Peter Dutton has decided
- 17:35Speaker 17: to go on this very quick trip over three days.
- 17:38Speaker 17: This whole Hesbilar issue could blow up while he's in
- 17:41Speaker 17: the air or on the ground there in Israel, and
- 17:43Speaker 17: it shows that he's prepared to actually go there and
- 17:47Speaker 17: show an example of what Australia would be like under
- 17:51Speaker 17: a Dutton government and the Dutton government's attitude to Israel.
- 17:54Speaker 17: It shows a very big gap between the Albanezy government
- 17:58Speaker 17: and what Peter Dutton would be like in power. And
- 18:00Speaker 17: I think that's what the aim of the trip is
- 18:02Speaker 17: as well.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, indeed, Joe, let's turn to the weekends reshuffle,
- 18:07Speaker 1: Sunday's reshuffle. Look, the Prime Minister has tried to say,
- 18:11Speaker 1: oh no, there were no failings by Clara O'Neil. She's
- 18:14Speaker 1: doing an excellent job.
- 18:15Speaker 16: That's my birthday party, everybody, that's the prize.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, this is ridiculous. No one believes the
- 18:21Speaker 1: ministers were performing so well that they just had to
- 18:23Speaker 1: be moved out of their portfol.
- 18:25Speaker 16: Of course, no one believes it. But he has to
- 18:26Speaker 16: say it doesn't he's the Prime minister. There is colleagues.
- 18:28Speaker 16: He's saying the right thing. It's like when you know,
- 18:30Speaker 16: you send out an email saying that you know, like
- 18:32Speaker 16: Joe will be leaving us at the end of this
- 18:34Speaker 16: month after fifteen years with the company. We wish him
- 18:36Speaker 16: well in his future endeavors. He's been a wonderful employee.
- 18:39Speaker 16: Of course, he's going to say that blind Freddie knows
- 18:41Speaker 16: that's not the case. I don't think this reshuffle is
- 18:44Speaker 16: the disaster that a lot of people seem to be
- 18:45Speaker 16: paid to it as it seems very sensible to me.
- 18:47Speaker 16: Sensible Tony, like Tony Burke, is a really really strong performer.
- 18:52Speaker 16: People might not agree with his past decisions or his
- 18:54Speaker 16: past positions, but he's a very strong performer. He's smart,
- 18:57Speaker 16: he's a strong parliamentary performer. He'll be able to handle
- 19:01Speaker 16: it very well. I think Andrew Giles, I think, is
- 19:03Speaker 16: the real sort of I suppose culprit in the disaster
- 19:08Speaker 16: over the immigrant detainees, and he's been absolutely shafted. He's
- 19:13Speaker 16: been absolutely shell But it looks like a move sideways technically,
- 19:15Speaker 16: so that's fine. Again, when was the last time you
- 19:18Speaker 16: heard about the wonderful work Brendan O'Connor was doing in
- 19:20Speaker 16: skills Never That's why no one's going to hear from
- 19:23Speaker 16: Andrew Giles every again. Claire O'Neil, A bit like Bill
- 19:25Speaker 16: Shorten being sent to ndis. You've got a portfolio that
- 19:28Speaker 16: wasn't even in cabinet the last time laborer in government.
- 19:31Speaker 16: It's now a really front of center, supercharged important portfolio,
- 19:35Speaker 16: and what do you do. You get someone who's got
- 19:37Speaker 16: a lot to prove, who maybe didn't have such a
- 19:39Speaker 16: great run on the paddock last time round. You say, right,
- 19:43Speaker 16: your reputation, your legacy depends on you fixing this crisis.
- 19:47Speaker 16: That's what Shorten is doing right now with the NDAs.
- 19:49Speaker 16: And that's why I reckon Claire.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Given housing is so critical, Given it's part of the
- 19:54Speaker 1: reason inflation is so Hi you think he would put Albaneze,
- 19:57Speaker 1: He would put the absolute best minister in that Steve.
- 20:00Speaker 1: I'm going to hear your take though, and what Joe
- 20:02Speaker 1: just said, because I completely disagree with him that Tony
- 20:05Speaker 1: Burke couldn't be better for Home affairs. I mean home
- 20:08Speaker 1: affairs you need someone tough on national security, tough on immigration,
- 20:13Speaker 1: someone who is strong on terrorism. I mean Tony Burke
- 20:18Speaker 1: didn't call out the hate preachers after October seven.
- 20:21Speaker 17: Immediately it was Joe out the back when you started
- 20:26Speaker 17: the show today.
- 20:27Speaker 16: He's been missing in action.
- 20:28Speaker 17: I mean, he clearly didn't hear a word you said.
- 20:31Speaker 17: If he thinks Tony Burke's going to do a great job,
- 20:33Speaker 17: I mean Tony Burke has a seat which, as you
- 20:36Speaker 17: point out, Chari is the center of radical Islam in
- 20:40Speaker 17: Australia and he if he wants to retain the seat,
- 20:43Speaker 17: has to keep the Muslim vote and that's what he
- 20:46Speaker 17: is going to be doing. I mean, why would you
- 20:48Speaker 17: put someone like that in charge of Home Affairs? I
- 20:50Speaker 17: mean this whole O'Neil gilesing just makes me laugh. I
- 20:54Speaker 17: mean I sometimes wonder whether the Prime ministraction listens to
- 20:58Speaker 17: himself when he speaks. He was on Sky today with
- 21:01Speaker 17: Kieran and he had a crack at Barnaby Joyce over
- 21:05Speaker 17: those comments joycemade yesterday and he said, what does this
- 21:08Speaker 17: bloke have to do to lose his job? Was he
- 21:12Speaker 17: talking about Andrew Joles? Yeah'll give about clearonially exactly.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Such a good point. I mean, the hypocrisy is truly breathtaking. Well,
- 21:22Speaker 1: let's have a look at the reality of this cost
- 21:25Speaker 1: of living crisis on the ground, and we read today
- 21:28Speaker 1: that Australian hospitality businesses are going under sadly at record rates.
- 21:33Speaker 1: This is new data from the Australian Securities and Investments
- 21:36Speaker 1: and it shows the number of food service in solvencies,
- 21:40Speaker 1: So restaurants and cafes insolvencies have jumped fifty percent to
- 21:45Speaker 1: one thousand, six hundred and sixty seven. Joe. You know,
- 21:49Speaker 1: this indicates that people can't afford to eat, to dine
- 21:54Speaker 1: out so much.
- 21:55Speaker 16: It is terrible and it's awful to say any business
- 21:58Speaker 16: go under, especially small business there. However, the brutal reality
- 22:02Speaker 16: is this is what the Reserve Bank wants Australians to do.
- 22:05Speaker 16: It wants us to cut spending and this is why
- 22:08Speaker 16: these businesses are going under because customers are no longer
- 22:10Speaker 16: spending their cutting back on anything because there is a
- 22:13Speaker 16: cost of living crisis. And believe me, I know, but
- 22:16Speaker 16: they are not spending on anything they don't absolutely have to.
- 22:19Speaker 16: So if there is a light at the end of
- 22:21Speaker 16: this tunnel, a silver lining to this cloud, it is
- 22:24Speaker 16: that this will hopefully put less pressure on the RBA
- 22:28Speaker 16: to raise interest rates next month.
- 22:30Speaker 1: For a very fine line though, between lowering inflation and
- 22:34Speaker 1: not plunging.
- 22:35Speaker 16: This This is the problem. It's a really session and.
- 22:37Speaker 1: The place where is the RBA on that? Are you
- 22:40Speaker 1: worried about that?
- 22:41Speaker 5: Steve?
- 22:43Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 22:44Speaker 17: Look, I know a number of people who run businesses
- 22:46Speaker 17: that have chains of restaurants, and you know they are
- 22:51Speaker 17: very successful. But guess what can't afford to open on
- 22:54Speaker 17: a Sunday, can't afford to play the penalty rates in Victoria,
- 22:57Speaker 17: you've got increases in land taxes, every price of everything
- 23:00Speaker 17: they sell has gone up, and of course the changes
- 23:03Speaker 17: to the industrial relations system boarding by this government mean
- 23:06Speaker 17: they've got to pay staff so much more money. We
- 23:09Speaker 17: are in the middle of a recession. Walk down any
- 23:11Speaker 17: of the main eat streets in Australia and you know,
- 23:14Speaker 17: I know Melbourne better than I know Brisbane, but I've
- 23:16Speaker 17: seen it in Sydney. The number of two let signs
- 23:19Speaker 17: in places like Chapel Street are unbelievable and people can't
- 23:22Speaker 17: afford to go out, and so they're not going out
- 23:24Speaker 17: and having smashed avocado on toast, although we do still
- 23:28Speaker 17: see cafes that are full of people and Joe's probably
- 23:31Speaker 17: an avocado man, and absolutely, I mean most of us
- 23:35Speaker 17: can't afford to go out and do that anymore.
- 23:37Speaker 16: Yeah, strictly vegiemite and a flat white and that's it.
- 23:40Speaker 16: Even a lart I reckonised you wouldn't pay.
- 23:42Speaker 1: No one would pay for vegimine and toasted a cafe
- 23:45Speaker 1: you mailed.
- 23:45Speaker 16: That and do it at high not leave the house,
- 23:49Speaker 16: not pay.
- 23:49Speaker 1: For Vegmink and everyone else has show on Sky News.
- 23:53Speaker 1: All right, Steve Price, great to see you and Joe
- 23:56Speaker 1: think you coming up after the break. The Middle East
- 24:00Speaker 1: on the brink of all out war as Israel prepares
- 24:02Speaker 1: to respond to Hesbela's deadly attack on children. Politician in
- 24:07Speaker 1: Israel Sharon Haskell will join me Life plus the alarming
- 24:10Speaker 1: report that reveals a disinformation campaign aimed at the Paris Olympics,
- 24:20Speaker 1: with the Middle East is on the brink of all
- 24:22Speaker 1: out war after twelve children were killed when Hesbelah hit
- 24:26Speaker 1: Israel's Golan Heights on the weekend. Israel and the United
- 24:30Speaker 1: States both say Hesbelah is responsible for the attack in
- 24:33Speaker 1: the druzetown of Majdal Chams, but the terror group has
- 24:37Speaker 1: denied responsibility. The IDF has confirmed it will prepare a
- 24:41Speaker 1: response against Hesbelah. Well, let's bring it now, Israeli politician
- 24:46Speaker 1: Sharon Haskell. Sharon, you're joining us. You're in a car
- 24:50Speaker 1: en route to where the attack happened in Israel's north.
- 24:54Speaker 1: The situation on the ground looks volatile. Flights are being canceled.
- 24:58Speaker 1: I understand and correct me if I'm wrong. There are
- 25:00Speaker 1: around one hundred thousand Israelis who've been displaced from the
- 25:03Speaker 1: north Drew's parents are burying their children. What can we
- 25:08Speaker 1: expect now from Israel's response to Hesbelah and how soon?
- 25:15Speaker 7: Well is what I had crossed the red line and
- 25:18Speaker 7: you're right.
- 25:19Speaker 5: I'm coming back now from the town of mach Delchams
- 25:22Speaker 5: here in Israel and the Golden.
- 25:24Speaker 7: Heights, and it's heartbreaking.
- 25:27Speaker 5: There are twelve families, the entire Drew's community whose morning
- 25:33Speaker 5: into Israel entirely.
- 25:35Speaker 7: I don't think that a massacre like that of twelve children.
- 25:40Speaker 5: Has left one dry eye year in Israel. Our hearts
- 25:43Speaker 5: are completely shattered and broken. These are little babies. These
- 25:47Speaker 5: are little children who went to play soccer, They wanted
- 25:51Speaker 5: to play sport, they were competing there and their parents
- 25:55Speaker 5: are absolutely broken.
- 25:57Speaker 7: The entire community is broken.
- 26:02Speaker 5: It's difficult to be in this area during this point
- 26:05Speaker 5: of time because we know that this is the quiet.
- 26:08Speaker 7: Before the storm.
- 26:10Speaker 5: Crossing such a red line targeting massacrering children, there's gonna
- 26:15Speaker 5: be a fierce response.
- 26:18Speaker 1: We have to.
- 26:18Speaker 5: Make sure that Chris ballad that back by Iran. These
- 26:22Speaker 5: are by Iran's order. The IRGC ordered that, and we
- 26:27Speaker 5: need to make sure that this line will never be
- 26:29Speaker 5: crossed again, and for that we need to bring back
- 26:33Speaker 5: to the turrent into our borders. Every single day there
- 26:37Speaker 5: are dozens of attacks with drones, with missiles, killing people,
- 26:43Speaker 5: destrowing homes, destroying lands. And if we want to be
- 26:48Speaker 5: able to bring back the Israeli refugees into their homes,
- 26:52Speaker 5: we have to make sure that Chris Balla understand that
- 26:55Speaker 5: there's a price for attacking like that, and definitely for
- 27:00Speaker 5: murdering children in such a horrific way.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Look, everyone's on edge in Israel at the moment. There
- 27:09Speaker 1: are concerns that the wider areas of Israel as well
- 27:13Speaker 1: could now come under attack from Hesbela, as you say,
- 27:17Speaker 1: funded by Iran, not just the north. Is this what
- 27:21Speaker 1: you're expecting that there is going to be a larger
- 27:24Speaker 1: scale conflict now with Hesbelah.
- 27:29Speaker 5: Well, it really depends on there. I mean for nine
- 27:34Speaker 5: months now, but nine months we've been withholding our troops
- 27:39Speaker 5: from the defending the northern border.
- 27:41Speaker 7: From defending our community in our homes.
- 27:45Speaker 5: And so if Chris Blah will decide to continue to
- 27:49Speaker 5: attack on a daily basis a sovereign state, obviously, I
- 27:53Speaker 5: don't think there's going to be another solution than a
- 27:56Speaker 5: full on confrontation. We're given the international community now more
- 28:00Speaker 5: than nine months to try and negotiate peacefully, you know,
- 28:06Speaker 5: some diplomatic resolution. But Chris Blah and especially in Iran,
- 28:11Speaker 5: doesn't understand that. They don't understand the diplomatic way. They
- 28:15Speaker 5: don't understand diplomatic solution, and they don't keep up to
- 28:19Speaker 5: their word all these agreements. I mean, we have an agreement,
- 28:23Speaker 5: there's a United Nations resolution.
- 28:25Speaker 7: About Chris Ballad. They broke that.
- 28:28Speaker 5: They're attacking Israel on a daily basis. They're murdering our citizens,
- 28:32Speaker 5: they're murdering children. So of course, by the look of things,
- 28:36Speaker 5: it will become a full confrontation. And Chris Ballah needs
- 28:40Speaker 5: to understand. Look, Israel does not want to turn their
- 28:44Speaker 5: route into Jubailah, Jabelia or a Fiah. Okay, we don't
- 28:49Speaker 5: want that. We've given the international community nine months to
- 28:52Speaker 5: come to a diplomatic solution, so you cannot.
- 28:55Speaker 1: But is that what you're saying is going to happen?
- 28:58Speaker 1: Are you saying that is going to be an attack
- 29:00Speaker 1: on Beirut?
- 29:02Speaker 5: I don't say this. Is I say that Israel for
- 29:06Speaker 5: nine months has been we hould withholding it and we
- 29:09Speaker 5: all want to see the same site. That's why we've
- 29:13Speaker 5: given them nine months for a diplomatic solution, but obviously
- 29:17Speaker 5: it doesn't come to this point. So at this point,
- 29:20Speaker 5: as Israeli, we do not see any other solution and
- 29:23Speaker 5: a full confrontation and to make sure that we are
- 29:27Speaker 5: able to defend on northern border.
- 29:31Speaker 1: All right, and that is going to be an extremely
- 29:34Speaker 1: tough period, heavy loss of life, no doubt on both sides. Sharon,
- 29:38Speaker 1: really appreciate your time tonight. Thank you very much. That's
- 29:42Speaker 1: Sharon Haskell, an Israeli politician. Well, let's move to the
- 29:46Speaker 1: Paris Olympics now, and we have an exclusive report we
- 29:49Speaker 1: can bring you where it's been revealed that Russia is
- 29:52Speaker 1: using the Paris Olympics as a way to launch a
- 29:55Speaker 1: major disinformation campaign, with pro Russian aibots creating fake videos
- 30:01Speaker 1: designed to destabilize the games. In one example that you've
- 30:05Speaker 1: probably heard of, a video is spread on social media
- 30:08Speaker 1: pretending to be from Hamas inciting violence at the Olympics.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Then there was also a deep fake documentary that had
- 30:16Speaker 1: Tom Cruise, not the real Tom Cruise, criticizing Olympic officials. Well,
- 30:21Speaker 1: let's bring in now cybersecurity expert Internet two point oh
- 30:24Speaker 1: co founder David Robinson to explain. David, thanks for joining us.
- 30:28Speaker 1: What is your work delving into who's been behind these
- 30:33Speaker 1: fake videos? What is it uncovered?
- 30:36Speaker 18: Good evening, Sherry. Basically, it looks like Russia is launching
- 30:41Speaker 18: strategic disinformation campaign against the Olympics, against Paris from our view,
- 30:50Speaker 18: basically on multiple fronts, through multiple mediums, there are videos
- 30:57Speaker 18: pretending to be Hamas making direct threats in a violent
- 31:01Speaker 18: way against the IOC in Paris twenty twenty four. They're
- 31:05Speaker 18: also you know, pretending to be from different areas in
- 31:09Speaker 18: that rift. But in the end, there's an open wound
- 31:13Speaker 18: here in France and that's the history of terrorism and
- 31:17Speaker 18: the social cohesion issue that has been going on with
- 31:21Speaker 18: the election. So Russia is trying to divide the French
- 31:24Speaker 18: and exploit that rift in society. So you attacking the
- 31:28Speaker 18: IOC but also being very divisive in their campaign.
- 31:33Speaker 1: I mean, that's something I think a lot of people
- 31:34Speaker 1: don't realize. We know, there's a lot of inflammatory content
- 31:38Speaker 1: on social media, particularly on TikTok, which is where a
- 31:42Speaker 1: lot of the younger generation are, but it's not well
- 31:45Speaker 1: known that often state actors like Russia are behind this,
- 31:50Speaker 1: so are putting forward disinformation even to drive an erosion
- 31:55Speaker 1: of social cohesion in the West. What do you think
- 31:58Speaker 1: that aim is here, specifically in targeting the Olympics.
- 32:04Speaker 18: Russia is the only country that normally comes to the
- 32:08Speaker 18: Olympics that has had a torrid history of being banned
- 32:10Speaker 18: from the Olympics. Obviously, the doping scandal, the war in
- 32:13Speaker 18: Ukraine basically means that Russia's banned from the Paris twenty
- 32:17Speaker 18: twenty four Olympics after their doping band was removed. So
- 32:21Speaker 18: Putin takes significant value in national sporting competitions, both in
- 32:27Speaker 18: football and Olympic sport. And so there's a great history
- 32:32Speaker 18: here between Putin's Russia and the Olympics disrupting them. You know,
- 32:37Speaker 18: they invaded Georgia in two thousand and eight, they launched
- 32:40Speaker 18: a massive cyber attack in twenty eighteen against North Sorry,
- 32:44Speaker 18: that South Korean Winter Olympics. So it's a huge personal
- 32:49Speaker 18: insult Putin representing Russia in his mind, in his perception
- 32:54Speaker 18: that he's not allowed to come.
- 32:56Speaker 1: David, the report that you've given us for this show tonight,
- 32:59Speaker 1: it shows the IOC twenty twenty four apps. So the
- 33:02Speaker 1: official Olympic app actually allows TikTok tracking cookies, so anyone
- 33:09Speaker 1: who downloads the app could potentially be tracked by TikTok.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Is that accurate and why would this be happening?
- 33:19Speaker 18: Yeah, Cherry, we've released that in the last twenty four hours,
- 33:22Speaker 18: so it's probably Australian exclusive on TV. We've done a
- 33:25Speaker 18: lot of analysis on the IOC IOC's twenty twenty four
- 33:29Speaker 18: paras app in the last week and they embed a
- 33:33Speaker 18: lot of third parties into the app, and notably you know,
- 33:37Speaker 18: for Australian government officials, US government officials, TikTok their JavaScript
- 33:42Speaker 18: basically is embedded through the app and their website. So
- 33:45Speaker 18: as soon as you go to check your metal tally
- 33:48Speaker 18: or download the app, TikTok is getting browser activity and
- 33:53Speaker 18: all the activity you do on that domain, and so
- 33:56Speaker 18: you can you can stop it, but you have to
- 33:59Speaker 18: go into the curity settings and hit reject or if
- 34:01Speaker 18: you don't, TikTok we'll get that information.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Unbelievable. Not many people of course would know to do that.
- 34:07Speaker 1: All right, Dave, thank you so much for your time,
- 34:09Speaker 1: and just to explain who Dave is He was a
- 34:11Speaker 1: former intelligence officer in Australia and now he's a cybersecurity
- 34:15Speaker 1: expert with his firm that he co founded, Internet two
- 34:18Speaker 1: point zero, and their work is responsible for a lot
- 34:21Speaker 1: of the revelations on TikTok that have led to change
- 34:24Speaker 1: in the United States Congress. Well, coming up after the break,
- 34:28Speaker 1: We've still got a lot to look at. Albanizi is
- 34:31Speaker 1: fast losing the trust of voters. Yet another damaging poll
- 34:35Speaker 1: plus a labor inside it slams Alban Ezey's move to
- 34:38Speaker 1: promote Tony Burke. Cameron Milner will join me next. All right,
- 34:46Speaker 1: welcome back. Well, in a minute, I'm going to show
- 34:48Speaker 1: you the first pictures of Peter Dutton live on the
- 34:51Speaker 1: ground in Israel. This is exclusive to us to the
- 34:55Speaker 1: Shari program. You can see there Peter Dutton in a
- 34:58Speaker 1: bilateral meeting with his Israeli officials. This is Peter Dutton
- 35:02Speaker 1: with Israel's Foreign Minister, Israel Cats. These pictures have just
- 35:06Speaker 1: come in to us. This is a highly significant meeting.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Later today Israel time, Peter Dutton will meet with Israeli
- 35:13Speaker 1: President Isaac Hertzog in a strong show of support from
- 35:17Speaker 1: the coalition towards our closest ally in the Middle East,
- 35:21Speaker 1: and this follows the Albanesi government's track record of increasing
- 35:26Speaker 1: hostility and criticism towards Israel, despite our strong history of
- 35:31Speaker 1: intelligence sharing agreements, our strong friendship. Albert Ezi has not
- 35:36Speaker 1: visited it Israel since October seven. Most other world leaders
- 35:40Speaker 1: took a trip there in a show of solidarity, Albinizi
- 35:43Speaker 1: did not. When Penny Wong eventually went, she failed to
- 35:47Speaker 1: visit the sites of the terrorist massacre in the South.
- 35:50Speaker 1: She didn't visit the Nova festival either, where one thy
- 35:53Speaker 1: two hundred young people were killed in cold blood, gunned down.
- 35:58Speaker 1: We've had survivors on this show. But Peter Dutton has
- 36:02Speaker 1: traveled there. He is there. He flew in tonight and
- 36:05Speaker 1: he went straight to a meeting with Israel's Foreign Minister
- 36:09Speaker 1: Israel Cats. So very significant meeting, very impressive. It's going
- 36:13Speaker 1: to send a strong message by Peter Dutton to the
- 36:16Speaker 1: Jewish community and it comes after just how vocal he's
- 36:19Speaker 1: been on the issue of anti Semitism. Well, let's bring
- 36:22Speaker 1: in now Labor powerbroker Cameron Milner and former Labor MP
- 36:27Speaker 1: Michael Danby. Welcome to you both, We're going to get
- 36:30Speaker 1: to Tony Burke in a minute, but Cameron, I just
- 36:33Speaker 1: want to get your reaction to this breaking news tonight.
- 36:36Speaker 1: I mean, what do you think it highlights Albaneze's failure
- 36:40Speaker 1: on this issue?
- 36:43Speaker 19: Absolutely, chari and Peter Dutton once again is showing Australians
- 36:46Speaker 19: what leadership really looks like. He's actually doing the things
- 36:49Speaker 19: for Australia on the international stage, not going on some
- 36:52Speaker 19: kntique tour on TOTO one and having Champagne in the
- 36:54Speaker 19: White House, doing real international relations. And so Peter Dutton
- 36:57Speaker 19: yet again is showing the Prime Minister what primises should
- 37:00Speaker 19: be doing and isn't. And that's an indictment on Albow.
- 37:04Speaker 1: I think I need to remind viewers Cameron that you
- 37:05Speaker 1: are Bill Shotton's former chief of staff. You are a
- 37:08Speaker 1: senior labor figure. You know this isn't a conservative person
- 37:12Speaker 1: criticizing Albin Easy here, Michael Danby, long term federal labor MP. Michael,
- 37:19Speaker 1: what's your take on Darton's visit here?
- 37:22Speaker 20: Well, Elbow should have gone there. Even his fashionist to
- 37:25Speaker 20: mate with whom he issues press releases now pontificating about
- 37:29Speaker 20: the Middle East. Justin Trudeau has been how can you comment,
- 37:34Speaker 20: how can you have these poor Israeli ambassador I, me
- 37:36Speaker 20: and my Moon called in to discuss Hezbollah and her muscle,
- 37:41Speaker 20: all this kind of stuff if you haven't seen the
- 37:44Speaker 20: facts on the ground, if you haven't been there and
- 37:46Speaker 20: you haven't spoken to people, negligent, Just like Foreign Minister
- 37:51Speaker 20: Wong with Ukraine. I was there in March in Ukraine,
- 37:55Speaker 20: took a train to Kiev. Come on, penny, you can't
- 37:58Speaker 20: be giving Australian tax fares money there without going there.
- 38:03Speaker 20: Out of failure war, no Embassy of Australia still then,
- 38:07Speaker 20: just replicated time after time. But the amen corner of
- 38:10Speaker 20: the press gallery in Canberra lets them both off.
- 38:13Speaker 1: Indeed they do a Cameron Tony Burke promoted to Home
- 38:17Speaker 1: Affairs Minister. It's a kind of unbelievable. What are your
- 38:20Speaker 1: concerns about him taking on this job?
- 38:24Speaker 19: Well, the whole reshuffle is like shuffling the deck chairs
- 38:27Speaker 19: on the Titanic. I mean it's not exactly a big change,
- 38:30Speaker 19: but the worst possible change is Tony Burke into the
- 38:32Speaker 19: two portfolios. He's taken utterly compromised. His own electorate is
- 38:36Speaker 19: the epicenter of is Islamic extremism in Australia, the epicenter
- 38:40Speaker 19: of hate preachers, and yet as the local member he's
- 38:42Speaker 19: waved it all through.
- 38:43Speaker 17: So Goodness knows what.
- 38:44Speaker 19: He does as our Home Affairs minister when our national
- 38:46Speaker 19: security is at stake. Goodness knows when he's got the
- 38:49Speaker 19: demand for Palestinian refugees in vert commas to come out
- 38:53Speaker 19: after the conflict, who will no doubt be flooded with
- 38:55Speaker 19: hamas and other g hardy operatives and it'll wave them
- 38:58Speaker 19: through As a weak immigration minister. No, Tony Berg is
- 39:01Speaker 19: utterly compromised because his own personal endev and try to
- 39:04Speaker 19: hold on the seat of Watson against the Muslim vote
- 39:07Speaker 19: will compromise every single decision he makes. Can be making
- 39:10Speaker 19: decisions on his own interests no longer than national Indrists
- 39:13Speaker 19: and Albow should have known better.
- 39:16Speaker 1: No, very good points, very strong comments. Now you'd think
- 39:19Speaker 1: the Albanezer government would be focusing almost solely on the
- 39:22Speaker 1: cost of living at the moment, but absurdly, given they
- 39:26Speaker 1: can't even solve the housing crisis, they think they can
- 39:29Speaker 1: fix the problems in the Middle East. And we saw
- 39:32Speaker 1: the Labor State conference over the weekend in New South
- 39:34Speaker 1: Wales and there was a big push, Michael Danby for
- 39:37Speaker 1: Palestinian statehood, even while her Mass currently remains as the
- 39:42Speaker 1: governing body. There was some sense from none other than
- 39:46Speaker 1: Daniel Andrew's former Victorian premier, and he wanted against recognition
- 39:51Speaker 1: of a Palestinian state.
- 39:52Speaker 21: Now.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Daniel Andrews said, and I quote her mask on not
- 39:55Speaker 1: about peace, hermuss on not about anything other than the
- 39:58Speaker 1: eradication of the Jewish state. Federal Communications Minister Michelle Roland
- 40:03Speaker 1: also dismissed concerns over the Muslim vote campaign. She's said,
- 40:07Speaker 1: Michael that Labour shouldn't be basing its position on the
- 40:10Speaker 1: war it's foreign policy on pro Palestinian voting intentions. Michael,
- 40:16Speaker 1: how much do you miss Daniel Andrews at the moment?
- 40:20Speaker 20: Well, I actually saw his speech. It's ironic that the
- 40:23Speaker 20: former socialist left premier of Victoria is more towards the
- 40:26Speaker 20: political center on these issues, on national security issues than
- 40:31Speaker 20: the New South Wales right. Tony Burke, Chris Bowen ed
- 40:36Speaker 20: Hughesick are all responsible for the total intellectual collapse of
- 40:40Speaker 20: social democracy in Australia. This is not the labor of
- 40:44Speaker 20: Kim Beasley, Bob Hawke, even Paul Keating or Kevin Rudd.
- 40:48Speaker 20: And it's not just on this Middle East issue, but
- 40:51Speaker 20: it's on the environment, cost of living, all of these
- 40:54Speaker 20: kinds of issues, giving the unions too much power while
- 40:59Speaker 20: he was a minister for Union Afares, Tony Burke. It's
- 41:03Speaker 20: all a mistake, you know. It's not what Bob Hawk
- 41:07Speaker 20: would have done, not what Kim Beasley would have done.
- 41:10Speaker 20: It's a different Labor.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Party, Cameron. We've got this new Redbridge pole in the
- 41:16Speaker 1: papers over the past couple of days showing that the
- 41:19Speaker 1: Labor government is struggling to hold on to public confidence.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Voters are now turning to the opposition. In the two
- 41:26Speaker 1: party preferred survey, Coalition is leading fifty one point five
- 41:30Speaker 1: percent to Labour's forty eight point five percent. So again
- 41:34Speaker 1: this shows Cameron that perhaps Albanzi doesn't have the instincts
- 41:39Speaker 1: in the right place. He needs to be doing more
- 41:41Speaker 1: on the issues that are affecting everyday families who are struggling.
- 41:46Speaker 19: Absolutely, and thank goodness, Jim Chalmers is trying as hard
- 41:49Speaker 19: as he possibly can as Treasurer on the cost of
- 41:51Speaker 19: living issue. But no, this poll is part of a trend,
- 41:54Speaker 19: a huge trend, and it's a trend away from Albanese
- 41:57Speaker 19: Labour's primary is plummeting and Peter Duttley's rebuild the conservative
- 42:00Speaker 19: or liberal primary nationwide because he's talking about cost of living,
- 42:04Speaker 19: because he's talking about issues at matter around the kitchen table,
- 42:07Speaker 19: not virtue signally on Gaza, actually putting downward pressure on
- 42:11Speaker 19: gas prices. No, so seriously, Charlie, We've been talking about.
- 42:14Speaker 16: This on the program for a while now.
- 42:15Speaker 19: Albert has a huge problem and the longer it goes,
- 42:18Speaker 19: the worst it'll get.
- 42:20Speaker 1: Yeah. Indeed, all right, Cameron Milner, Michael Danby, thank you
- 42:23Speaker 1: both very much for your time and thoughts tonight. Now
- 42:26Speaker 1: still to come the race to the White House titans
- 42:29Speaker 1: as new polling shows VP Kamala Harris gaining ground on
- 42:33Speaker 1: Trump Plus. And this is an outrageous story. Google stands
- 42:37Speaker 1: accused of censoring the assassination attempt of Donald Trump. This
- 42:42Speaker 1: is a big story and I'll bring it to you next.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Welcome back. Well, let's turn to the United States now,
- 42:50Speaker 1: where Vice President Kamala Harris is calling background lost by
- 42:54Speaker 1: Joe Biden. There's a new Wall Street Jonal poll and
- 42:57Speaker 1: it shows a likely Democratic nominee is sitting forty seven
- 43:00Speaker 1: percent to Donald Trump's forty nine percent in a two
- 43:04Speaker 1: person matchup. Harris is also fundraising extremely well, picking up
- 43:09Speaker 1: a reported eighty one million dollars in one day. This
- 43:12Speaker 1: is apparently the record for twenty three hours. That's bringing
- 43:16Speaker 1: now Sky News contributor Kosher Gada Koshark great to see
- 43:20Speaker 1: you look in the space of just a week, it
- 43:22Speaker 1: looks like the Democrats is back up and running for sure.
- 43:28Speaker 21: I think, you know, this race has clearly even reset Shari.
- 43:31Speaker 21: And what's even more remarkable is what would normally be
- 43:34Speaker 21: developed over an eighteen month time span, that's the typical
- 43:37Speaker 21: time span of a presidential campaign, all of that has
- 43:40Speaker 21: been compressed into one hundred days, one hundred days away
- 43:43Speaker 21: from election day, and so you're going to see this
- 43:45Speaker 21: kind of tightening and everything else happened at an accelerated space.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Peace It is expected.
- 43:50Speaker 21: There's sort of, you know, a honeymoon period for somebody
- 43:52Speaker 21: who's by a large still a blank canvas to a
- 43:54Speaker 21: lot of people, and they're working very hard over the
- 43:57Speaker 21: next four weeks both parties to frame her and define her.
- 44:00Speaker 21: But I think a lot of pent up demand that
- 44:03Speaker 21: had been put to the side of disillusioned voters in
- 44:05Speaker 21: the week of Biden and that disaster's debate, all of
- 44:08Speaker 21: that is coming back out and being released. It's sort
- 44:10Speaker 21: of like a relief rally, and I think many people
- 44:12Speaker 21: expect that it's going to continue in August and that
- 44:15Speaker 21: at that point we go back to the fundamentals of
- 44:17Speaker 21: the race, and I think those last sixty seventy days
- 44:20Speaker 21: is kind of going to basically shake out in terms
- 44:22Speaker 21: of the final result.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Here, look, let's turn to this story. I think this
- 44:25Speaker 1: is incredible. Google, as in the search engine is censoring
- 44:29Speaker 1: results for the assassination attempt of Donald Trump, and instead
- 44:33Speaker 1: we're seeing that Google is suggesting recommended search results for
- 44:37Speaker 1: Donald Reagan, Hitler, Bob Marley, anything you can think of,
- 44:42Speaker 1: but not Donald Trump. I actually tested this out today
- 44:45Speaker 1: and anyone at home can do it as well. Go
- 44:46Speaker 1: to Google, type in attempted assassination on and even when
- 44:53Speaker 1: you start writing Dnald Donald Trump does not come up. Kosher.
- 44:58Speaker 1: I think this is a for the role of big
- 45:01Speaker 1: tech in the upcoming US.
- 45:03Speaker 21: Election one hundred percent. I tested out as well, and
- 45:08Speaker 21: you know it doesn't even stop with Google. I also
- 45:10Speaker 21: tried it in chat GPT and it comes out and
- 45:12Speaker 21: says that there are no credible reports from credible sources
- 45:15Speaker 21: that he in fact was had an attempt at assassination.
- 45:18Speaker 1: That's outrageous.
- 45:20Speaker 21: I think, you know, it really brings to point this
- 45:22Speaker 21: issue with big tech where Google is eighty five percent
- 45:25Speaker 21: of the search industry and Being is the other fifteen percent.
- 45:28Speaker 21: There By the way it works, they're not doing this.
- 45:30Speaker 21: So you've got so much power in this one company
- 45:33Speaker 21: that has so much a market power as well as
- 45:35Speaker 21: information control power. You layer on AI with the chat
- 45:38Speaker 21: GPT example, it's only going to get worse. But for
- 45:40Speaker 21: a few flashpoints. You've got X, you've got some media outlets,
- 45:43Speaker 21: you've got independent media that's sort of making this known.
- 45:47Speaker 21: But it is really really ominous, and it's just another
- 45:50Speaker 21: version of what we saw in the last election with
- 45:51Speaker 21: the Hunter Biden laptop suppression or this suppression, and you're
- 45:55Speaker 21: seeing it in real time, and unfortunately a lot of
- 45:58Speaker 21: people who get their news from just these platforms and
- 46:00Speaker 21: aren't as literate about going out and finding other resources
- 46:03Speaker 21: will be unfortunately their opinions are shaped or you know,
- 46:06Speaker 21: erasure is happening right before our eyes.
- 46:08Speaker 1: I mean, it's interesting that the left is so worried
- 46:10Speaker 1: about disinformation, you know, as we all are, but the
- 46:13Speaker 1: Left makes it a campaign platform. You know, They've tried
- 46:16Speaker 1: to have disinformation and commissioners, and yet on chat GPT
- 46:21Speaker 1: no credible information that there was an assassination attempt on
- 46:24Speaker 1: Donna Tumpa. It's just unbelievable. Now, let's turn to Trump's
- 46:29Speaker 1: running mate JD. Vance. He's doubling down after footage emerged
- 46:33Speaker 1: of him making these comments.
- 46:35Speaker 11: Have a look, we're effectively run in this country via
- 46:39Speaker 11: the Democrats, via our corporate oligarchs, by a bunch of
- 46:43Speaker 11: childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives
- 46:45Speaker 11: and the choices that they've made, and so they want
- 46:47Speaker 11: to make the rest of the country miserable too.
- 46:50Speaker 1: Tucker nodding along, by the way childless cat ladies.
- 46:54Speaker 20: Well.
- 46:54Speaker 1: In an interview on another form of Fox host at
- 46:56Speaker 1: the Megan Kelly Show, Vance said it was a sarcastic common.
- 47:01Speaker 22: It's not the criticism of people who don't have children.
- 47:04Speaker 22: I explicitly said in my remarks, despite the fact that
- 47:07Speaker 22: media has lied about this, that this is not about
- 47:09Speaker 22: criticizing people who, for various reasons, didn't have kids. This
- 47:13Speaker 22: is about criticizing the Democratic Party for becoming anti family
- 47:16Speaker 22: an anti child.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Look, many people will be offended. It is difficult to
- 47:21Speaker 1: have children, a lot of fertility issues, So Kosha, this
- 47:24Speaker 1: is damaging him. We've seen major celebrities like Jennifer Aniston
- 47:28Speaker 1: attack him for the comments.
- 47:32Speaker 21: Yes, and he has stepped into the lions den here,
- 47:34Speaker 21: So any word he has ever spoken or written, they're
- 47:36Speaker 21: going to call him through that. And this was an
- 47:39Speaker 21: unforced error in terms of the style with which he
- 47:42Speaker 21: phrased that and the words that he chose as he's
- 47:44Speaker 21: doing the clean up right now with Megan Kelly and others.
- 47:46Speaker 21: Though I think his broader point that he's sticking by
- 47:48Speaker 21: is it's about what kind of society do we have
- 47:50Speaker 21: and are we pro family or anti family as a
- 47:53Speaker 21: broader point, But I think I would come back to
- 47:55Speaker 21: what we talked about at the top, where this race
- 47:57Speaker 21: is going to be very very close, and it's going
- 47:59Speaker 21: to be one lost on ultimately the base turning out
- 48:02Speaker 21: for both sides. And if you look at what his
- 48:05Speaker 21: answer is now and in terms of how he's trying
- 48:07Speaker 21: to correct that or modulate it through that lens, it
- 48:10Speaker 21: explains that he's going to not worry about the Jennifer
- 48:12Speaker 21: Aniston's or even like some of the moderate votes might
- 48:15Speaker 21: be gettable as much as he's worried about getting those
- 48:18Speaker 21: low propensity voters that are already open to and supportive
- 48:22Speaker 21: of his policy and President Trump's policy. And I don't
- 48:24Speaker 21: think these comments are going to swear them. So that's
- 48:25Speaker 21: why he's going to double down on that position.
- 48:28Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, Kosha Ghana, thank you so much for
- 48:30Speaker 1: your time. And yeah, I think the likes of Jennifer
- 48:32Speaker 1: Aniston and Taylor Swift aren't going to change too many votes.
- 48:35Speaker 1: People know what they think of Donald Trump. Now that's
- 48:37Speaker 1: it for me. I'll see you at eight o'clock tomorrow evening.
- 48:40Speaker 1: And right now, here's Paul Murray
