- 0:00Speaker 1: With Stu Gotts and Hawkman.
- 0:02Speaker 2: We have a very exciting podcast today. Stu gott we
- 0:06Speaker 2: do huh, well, this is the podcast I wanted to
- 0:10Speaker 2: do last episode and I couldn't find that anything.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Yes, And I was asking that question because I have
- 0:15Speaker 3: no idea what we're doing every time we take the mic.
- 0:18Speaker 2: So I mean, well, God bless the listeners of this podcast.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Many have migrated from being you know, lifelong Levatard show
- 0:28Speaker 2: listeners over to this podcast, and we appreciate it and
- 0:30Speaker 2: spread the word. I mean, we like the fact. I
- 0:32Speaker 2: mean we're really doing this for fun. No, there's no
- 0:38Speaker 2: real return on it for me other than getting to
- 0:41Speaker 2: relive some of the exciting moments doing a cameo every
- 0:45Speaker 2: now and then making a twenty twenty five bucks.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Yeah, you haven't reached out to me to do a
- 0:50Speaker 4: cameo lately. What's going on there? I mean, I haven't.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Promoted the cameos in a while because you're very hot
- 0:56Speaker 2: to stay out there at my Horner Park.
- 0:59Speaker 4: I should I kept my mouth shut. I'm sorry.
- 1:01Speaker 2: I mean, anybody who wants a cameo of me and Stutt, Yeah,
- 1:07Speaker 2: go to a cameo search, Mark Hawkman and you know,
- 1:11Speaker 2: just a summertime cameo for you and your friend.
- 1:13Speaker 4: Sure, so regardless, I can meet you out of the Starbucks.
- 1:16Speaker 3: I have a double espresso when it's one hundred and
- 1:17Speaker 3: fifteen degrees out Yes, it.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Is so fucking hot out there. The notion of drinking
- 1:22Speaker 2: a coffee and recording cameos with you, it's just not appealing.
- 1:26Speaker 2: It's why I haven't promoted it. But this is this
- 1:30Speaker 2: is the epitome of a passion project. We have fun
- 1:34Speaker 2: and I love the fact that I hear from so
- 1:36Speaker 2: many listeners. Most of them you know, old school LeBatard
- 1:40Speaker 2: show fans, some of them you know new They only
- 1:43Speaker 2: started listening during the ESPN days and they are just
- 1:49Speaker 2: finding some of this stuff now because they follow you
- 1:52Speaker 2: or have seen someone post about this.
- 1:54Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Somewhere in fact, I got a DM. You could always
- 1:56Speaker 2: DM me on Instagram. That's the best way to reach
- 1:59Speaker 2: out to this particular podcast, and to me, it's Radio
- 2:03Speaker 2: Mark Hawkman on Instagram. Somebody DMS high Hawk and greetings
- 2:08Speaker 2: from Northern Europe. I had to write something after the
- 2:11Speaker 2: Lombardo episode. I was listening to your show with Dan
- 2:15Speaker 2: here in Finland a long time ago when the original
- 2:18Speaker 2: Lombardo call happened, I think it was through the seven
- 2:21Speaker 2: ninety website. At the time, it was such a welcome
- 2:24Speaker 2: sound to hear those calls again with you and Stugotts.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I was driving through my town laughing like crazy by myself.
- 2:31Speaker 2: People probably thought I was nuts. I hope you and
- 2:34Speaker 2: Steugotts keep doing this for a long time. Sam snead,
- 2:38Speaker 2: My God, that's how you end it. That's how you
- 2:42Speaker 2: end it. Yes, that's the perfect sign off on any So,
- 2:46Speaker 2: if you want to reach out and help out the pod,
- 2:50Speaker 2: or have an idea, or just want to comment radio
- 2:52Speaker 2: Mark Hawkman on Instagram. So in the last episode, I
- 2:57Speaker 2: had told everyone I had just seen the Mychael Jackson
- 3:00Speaker 2: movie and I had remembered a couple of Michael Jackson
- 3:03Speaker 2: related things that happened with the show, and my intention
- 3:06Speaker 2: was to play those, but I couldn't find any I knew.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I had done a Rihanna song where I sampled Mamase
- 3:12Speaker 2: Mama saw Mamakusa into Mohammed Massaqui and I think it
- 3:17Speaker 2: was who was it? It was? It was Boredopa, Enrique.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Ricardo, Yeah, Enrique Riccardo, same thing, Tomato Tomato.
- 3:24Speaker 2: No, biggie, what's the difference. You're called Solana Falero.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Yeah, we're getting up there in years, fifty six years old, Ricardo,
- 3:31Speaker 2: I apologize, I'm forty times, but so I knew I
- 3:36Speaker 2: had done something Michael Jackson related there. I also, as
- 3:40Speaker 2: I said in the last pod, I knew that we
- 3:42Speaker 2: had interviewed Jermaine Jackson and it went south. Yes, and
- 3:46Speaker 2: I couldn't find any of those so pretty much the
- 3:49Speaker 2: last pod was just us playing a bad, fake Michael
- 3:52Speaker 2: Jackson call and a bunch of Don King calls, which
- 3:55Speaker 2: was fun but not great.
- 3:56Speaker 4: It was the worst episode ever. I mean, that was it.
- 3:59Speaker 2: That's what I thought. Yes, not to sugarcoat it. Ye
- 4:02Speaker 2: first episode ever.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Yes, I'd like to label this in every episode the
- 4:05Speaker 3: worst episode ever. I believe that episode had more downloads
- 4:08Speaker 3: than any episode we've ever done.
- 4:09Speaker 2: I mean, God, bless the listeners of this podcast. Ricardo
- 4:14Speaker 2: found the Rihanna song that I was looking for, Enrique,
- 4:17Speaker 2: and a listener found the Jermaine Jackson interview, Yes, that
- 4:24Speaker 2: I was looking for. Yes, I should probably give him
- 4:26Speaker 2: some love. What the what is that guy's name?
- 4:30Speaker 4: The listener Joseph Joe okay, Joe.
- 4:35Speaker 2: And so I was emailing with him. He said, back
- 4:38Speaker 2: in the day, he would subscribe to the podcast and
- 4:43Speaker 2: download every episode, so he has every full show from
- 4:47Speaker 2: like years and years and years. And he's like, I
- 4:50Speaker 2: heard you talking on the pod about the Jermaine Jackson thing,
- 4:52Speaker 2: and I think I can recall, like when do you
- 4:54Speaker 2: think the date was? And I think and I said,
- 4:56Speaker 2: I think it was towards the end of my time
- 4:58Speaker 2: on the show, so I think it was around twenty eleven. Anyway,
- 5:00Speaker 2: we narrowed it down, we found it. So this is
- 5:04Speaker 2: the podcast that I wanted to do last week, and
- 5:07Speaker 2: I think it'll deliver better than last week did not
- 5:09Speaker 2: that last week was terrible, even though it was the
- 5:12Speaker 2: worst show we've ever done, but.
- 5:15Speaker 4: Not according to the downloads.
- 5:16Speaker 2: So this is the Rihanna song. So Mike Ryan, I
- 5:22Speaker 2: was not familiar, not that I wasn't familiar with her music,
- 5:25Speaker 2: but the songs that I would parody were more you know,
- 5:28Speaker 2: eighties and classic rock and more my genre. And I
- 5:33Speaker 2: remember Mike Ryan saying, no, no, no, you got to do
- 5:35Speaker 2: this Rihanna song. Is it Rihanna? Rihanna?
- 5:37Speaker 3: I think it's Rihanna and you were doing Hall and
- 5:39Speaker 3: Oates and Mike wanted you to exactly, Yeah, he wanted
- 5:42Speaker 3: you to speak to We were trying to gain a
- 5:44Speaker 3: young audience. That Mike was like, why are you doing
- 5:46Speaker 3: Hall and Oats songs?
- 5:47Speaker 2: You know? Yes, I did a Michael Doliac song to
- 5:52Speaker 2: Olivia Newton John's heart attack. Now, Olivia Newton John's heart
- 5:57Speaker 2: Attack wasn't even popular when we were kids. No, let
- 6:00Speaker 2: alone in two thousand and five when I was remaking
- 6:03Speaker 2: it into a Michael Doliac song.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Yes, Taylor, do you know who Hallan Oates are? And
- 6:08Speaker 3: do you know Olivia Newton John from Greece?
- 6:11Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 6:11Speaker 4: Yeah, wow, Hallan Oats not Greece.
- 6:17Speaker 2: That's a great call, you know, holl of Os No, okay,
- 6:20Speaker 2: oh fuck you? Yeah, you're full of shit.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean Jesus legend.
- 6:24Speaker 5: Riccardo has emphatic yes from him.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Yeah, at Ricardo take over this podcast.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Nothing would make him happy, all right. I'm telling you
- 6:34Speaker 3: how you don't have a bigger fan than Enrique. I
- 6:36Speaker 3: am telling you.
- 6:37Speaker 2: I mean, sorry, Ricardo, sometimes the nickname is gonna stick,
- 6:44Speaker 2: and I have a feeling you're gonna be in Rique
- 6:46Speaker 2: for the next ten years.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Taylor.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Would you go ahead and tell Hawk how many times
- 6:50Speaker 3: I've called Ricardo and Rique good amount.
- 6:53Speaker 4: That's why we're laughing.
- 6:58Speaker 2: So here it is so Mike Ryan like, hey, do
- 7:01Speaker 2: this Rihanna song. It's very popular right now. And I
- 7:05Speaker 2: listened to it and I remember writing lyrics with Mike,
- 7:08Speaker 2: I think. And it's Mike and Cynthia as the background vocalist.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Cynthia is still part of the Well wasn't really part
- 7:16Speaker 2: of the Levatard show back then. She worked for the
- 7:18Speaker 2: radio station. But she's part of the Levatard Show now.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Cynthia is the female backing vocals on this track. This
- 7:26Speaker 2: was after a terrible loss by the Dolphins. It was
- 7:29Speaker 2: a great game by Mohammed Massaquy, of course, And I'm
- 7:33Speaker 2: not super proud of this song. It's a little cringe
- 7:37Speaker 2: inducing at the beginning, but the hook with the Mohammed
- 7:41Speaker 2: Massaquy is worth the payoff. So here's what I was
- 7:44Speaker 2: trying to get to last week.
- 7:49Speaker 3: Any college signals to throw fires intercepted by.
- 7:54Speaker 6: The Texans Dolphins twenty three thirteen.
- 8:00Speaker 1: I know one thing about these guys. A're not gonna
- 8:02Speaker 1: start winning on Sunday.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Philip Rivers will throw.
- 8:07Speaker 7: Over Vonte and they'll have Vincent Jackson blowing the defense away.
- 8:12Speaker 7: And Bill Parcells screwed this team in just about every way.
- 8:16Speaker 1: But we got Mike Pounce Pouncy Jake Long.
- 8:20Speaker 7: Yeah, he was our salvation.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Now it's all gone wrong.
- 8:24Speaker 5: Unbelievable.
- 8:25Speaker 7: Parcels made winning here impossible. Baby Reggie Bush's aura was incredible.
- 8:32Speaker 1: But now he just fumble.
- 8:33Speaker 5: Let's just slap on the ball.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Oh no, hen he's unguarded.
- 8:37Speaker 5: Marca Lumbo fall started.
- 8:39Speaker 2: We're too blazing and we were.
- 8:40Speaker 7: Already down four touchdowns. This team has a bad taste.
- 8:44Speaker 7: Parcels had a fat waiste. The Dolphins slipped in urine
- 8:48Speaker 7: then ended up on their face.
- 8:50Speaker 2: This frigging team is boring.
- 8:53Speaker 7: After the first half, I will be so knowing Arross
- 8:57Speaker 7: has gotta cut this.
- 8:59Speaker 1: I still drive have a list.
- 9:01Speaker 7: Please have mercy, Please have mercy, Please have mercy, Please
- 9:05Speaker 7: have mercy.
- 9:06Speaker 8: Hi back to past cock Bank, going right corner of
- 9:09Speaker 8: the until Massa Kratkahmad Mara.
- 9:13Speaker 6: I'ma say my Mohammed Matsuk. I'm gonna say my Mahamad
- 9:16Speaker 6: mass suck quah. I'm go'na say my Muhammad Massa Kwai.
- 9:19Speaker 6: I'ma Sayama and Massa Why, i'ma say Mamahamed massa Qui.
- 9:23Speaker 6: I'ma say my Mahama massu Qui. I'm gonna say my
- 9:26Speaker 6: Mahamad massa Quai. I'm gonna Sayama and Massuy. I'ma say
- 9:29Speaker 6: my Muhammad massa Quai. I'm gonna say Mamahammad massa Quai.
- 9:33Speaker 6: I'm gonna say my Mohamed Massaqui. I'ma say my Mohammad
- 9:36Speaker 6: massa Qui.
- 9:40Speaker 4: I mean, what's there to be embarrassed about?
- 9:43Speaker 1: Jesus.
- 9:43Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a banger.
- 9:46Speaker 9: Now.
- 9:46Speaker 2: That was a rough vocal performance at the beginning. I
- 9:48Speaker 2: didn't find my footing until about three verses in.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Yeah, but once you found that footing, my friend woof
- 9:56Speaker 4: was really really good.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Like that one't that one's still uh? That one still
- 10:00Speaker 2: slaps a little bit.
- 10:01Speaker 1: I think.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Yes, Taylor has done five Jalen Brunson songs, and I
- 10:05Speaker 3: saw the jealousy the second he started listening to that song.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Because his are good, yours are great, you know, and
- 10:11Speaker 3: it Yeah, you need to get him from good to
- 10:13Speaker 3: great hockey.
- 10:14Speaker 10: You do.
- 10:15Speaker 2: I will tell you though, I was working with a
- 10:18Speaker 2: fantastic producer, which was Tommy Ferrara. They is our producer
- 10:22Speaker 2: back then, yep. And he had been in a band
- 10:25Speaker 2: and he had produced tracks before, so like he really
- 10:28Speaker 2: was able to make these parody songs a thousand times,
- 10:31Speaker 2: because if you go back and listen to the ones
- 10:33Speaker 2: that I used to make on my own where I'm
- 10:35Speaker 2: just singing over the song like, they're painful compared to
- 10:39Speaker 2: what Tommy would churn out for us.
- 10:41Speaker 4: So Tommy is a legend. And Tommy, you're right. He
- 10:43Speaker 4: was a drummer and a rock band, like a heavy
- 10:46Speaker 4: metal band, I believe.
- 10:47Speaker 3: And I remember him telling me, finally the show that
- 10:51Speaker 3: wants to make songs like this was a dream come
- 10:54Speaker 3: true for Tommy Ferrara. He just didn't understand why it
- 10:57Speaker 3: was our afternoon drive show doing sports.
- 11:00Speaker 10: I mean.
- 11:03Speaker 2: There is now here's the other thing that I wanted
- 11:06Speaker 2: to get to last week, But thanks to our great listeners,
- 11:10Speaker 2: I can finally get to it. And by the way,
- 11:13Speaker 2: I happened to just start listening to that full show
- 11:16Speaker 2: that he sent me. And next episode of this podcast,
- 11:20Speaker 2: we'll revisit a strip club conversation you and Dan and
- 11:26Speaker 2: I had and it was on the heels of You
- 11:29Speaker 2: and I coming home from a strip club apparently the
- 11:32Speaker 2: night before.
- 11:33Speaker 4: Yes, does it involve gasoline.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I mean.
- 11:41Speaker 2: It doesn't involve Murph. It doesn't involve gasoline.
- 11:44Speaker 4: I assure you. Murph was there though.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Yeah, if not, he certainly got the bills. He got
- 11:49Speaker 2: the receipts to write him down as a business expense. Inexplicably,
- 11:57Speaker 2: so I'd mentioned in the last app So I see
- 12:00Speaker 2: the Michael Jackson movie and I was like, do we
- 12:02Speaker 2: ever have any connection? I remember we had Jermaine Jackson
- 12:05Speaker 2: on once and we were super excited Jermaine Jackson. And
- 12:10Speaker 2: I know, you know, for young people, for Taylor, he
- 12:14Speaker 2: may not understand Jermaine Jackson. Oh, it's just one of
- 12:16Speaker 2: the Jackson's. Jermaine was the other successful brother, like the
- 12:20Speaker 2: really successful brother. Michael was uber successful. Jermaine and Janet
- 12:26Speaker 2: were the two other siblings who had hit songs. And
- 12:29Speaker 2: so Michael had, you know, died already. Jermaine had a
- 12:34Speaker 2: book coming out and we were really excited. Dan loved
- 12:39Speaker 2: I mean the Jackson's the Victory tour. Dan was there
- 12:42Speaker 2: for that. I had seen the Victory Tour at Miski
- 12:45Speaker 2: Park in Chicago like this was. This was exciting. So
- 12:49Speaker 2: here's the intro and I want you to I want
- 12:53Speaker 2: you to listen to this. This is Dan Jermaine Jackson's
- 12:56Speaker 2: on the line. You guys are introducing him.
- 12:59Speaker 4: We're excited, and then Jermaine starts to.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Talk and instantaneously everyone realizes this is going to be bad. Yep,
- 13:10Speaker 2: and you can feel the energy get sucked right out
- 13:14Speaker 2: of the room. Yes, just with Jermaine's first answer, which
- 13:19Speaker 2: is almost inaudible. Here is this live on the air.
- 13:25Speaker 1: All right.
- 13:26Speaker 9: Our guest now is Jermaine Jackson. He's got a new
- 13:28Speaker 9: book out. You are not alone, Michael through a brother's eyes.
- 13:32Speaker 9: If you want to check out any of his work,
- 13:35Speaker 9: Jermaine Jackson Entertainment dot Com is where you go. And
- 13:38Speaker 9: as we were talking about before he came on here
- 13:40Speaker 9: with us, this is an iconic music family and all
- 13:45Speaker 9: their music holds up. They were making music twenty and
- 13:48Speaker 9: twenty five years ago. That's still today you listen to it,
- 13:53Speaker 9: and music hasn't evolved beyond this point.
- 13:56Speaker 5: They really were.
- 13:57Speaker 9: Visionaries, this family music visionaries. Jermaine Jackson with us now
- 14:03Speaker 9: on seven ninety the ticket again. The book is his
- 14:06Speaker 9: new book is you are not alone, Michael through a
- 14:08Speaker 9: brother's eyes. What would you say, Jermaine, is the most
- 14:12Speaker 9: interesting thing in your book?
- 14:15Speaker 10: The most interesting thing is showing the human side of Michael,
- 14:20Speaker 10: which is the most important thing, And showing our humble
- 14:24Speaker 10: beginnings and growing up us kicking cans home from school
- 14:29Speaker 10: and wanting to be like the Motown accident, preparing and
- 14:35Speaker 10: not knowing how far we would go, but we wanted it.
- 14:39Speaker 10: And so what I've done is book. Besides giving a
- 14:43Speaker 10: true documentation of who Michael was and who we are
- 14:45Speaker 10: as a family, I wanted to show the human side
- 14:49Speaker 10: of Michael and at the same time addressing all the
- 14:54Speaker 10: obstacles that the media created and put before him, and
- 14:57Speaker 10: all the things he the false elegation and accusations that
- 15:01Speaker 10: he was accused of. And I break it down and
- 15:03Speaker 10: I get took the seat of everything, and I show
- 15:05Speaker 10: you quit records and everything that was done all the
- 15:08Speaker 10: way up to his passing.
- 15:11Speaker 3: He does not use a phone, and he doesn't know
- 15:13Speaker 3: how to sell a book. I mean, I gotta tell you,
- 15:15Speaker 3: I had that book on order. I canceled it.
- 15:18Speaker 2: I mean, just the energy flies out of the room.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Yes comes in and he's like, you know, He's like,
- 15:24Speaker 2: and it's one thing. I guess if you're face to
- 15:26Speaker 2: face with Jermaine, you lean in sure and you're like, oh,
- 15:31Speaker 2: you have my attention and you can talk like this
- 15:33Speaker 2: because but is it like you're on the phone trying
- 15:36Speaker 2: to sell a book. Yes, And he's like no, no, no,
- 15:40Speaker 2: And I remember, I remember the energy getting sucked out
- 15:44Speaker 2: of the room and just looking at you and Dan
- 15:47Speaker 2: and going this is going to go south.
- 15:49Speaker 4: Yes, that it happened so quickly. Dan was so excited.
- 15:53Speaker 3: You could hear it in his voice as he's doing
- 15:55Speaker 3: that introduction and speaking of the introduction, pretty wordy hawk.
- 15:58Speaker 3: There was no question there. I mean, and I don't
- 16:00Speaker 3: know what Dan was doing. He was filling time. I'm
- 16:02Speaker 3: not certain if the connection wasn't there. You didn't have
- 16:04Speaker 3: Germane yet. But Jesus Christ, was that a wordy intro?
- 16:08Speaker 2: I mean yeah, I mean this whole notion that Dan's
- 16:11Speaker 2: such a great interviewer. I mean, come on, just go
- 16:14Speaker 2: listen to the Germane interview.
- 16:16Speaker 4: Don't clip that, don't clip it. We both know that
- 16:20Speaker 4: Dan is a fantastic interviewer.
- 16:24Speaker 2: I mean, he had that show on ESPN the art
- 16:27Speaker 2: of the conversation.
- 16:27Speaker 4: Yeah, it's two episodes.
- 16:29Speaker 2: What the wonder I couldn't.
- 16:33Speaker 4: Find anymore Riley and Tyson, I believe.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Uh so you can tell in this next clip just
- 16:41Speaker 2: how annoyed you are with Jermaine Jackson. Just a couple
- 16:46Speaker 2: minutes into the interview. Listen to the disdain in Stugott's voice.
- 16:52Speaker 10: I had a tiger on the victory tour. No one knew,
- 16:55Speaker 10: but I my tiger been with me.
- 16:58Speaker 5: He had a tiger, stutt He had a tiger with
- 17:01Speaker 5: him on the victory tour.
- 17:02Speaker 1: I heard him, didn't Yeah, No, I heard him.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Jermaine Jackson joining us on seven ninety to take It,
- 17:06Speaker 3: will be replaying Joe Hayden coming up at six thirty tonight.
- 17:10Speaker 5: You named one of your sons, your majesty. That seems
- 17:15Speaker 5: like a bit much, Your majesty, that's a little.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Over the top.
- 17:20Speaker 10: All of my son's names start with the Jay, and
- 17:22Speaker 10: his name is is a lot like mine J E. R.
- 17:25Speaker 10: M A. And I didn't know what I just called
- 17:28Speaker 10: him DRUMD.
- 17:32Speaker 3: So I use my opportunity to speak to promote Joe Hayden.
- 17:42Speaker 4: In a way that was angry.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Play that again for a second Taylor, because he go,
- 17:49Speaker 2: he goes, he gives this like you could tell this
- 17:52Speaker 2: has gone south, and so now Dam's just making fun
- 17:55Speaker 2: of the answers by going, he had a tiger, Stu.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Guys like he's trying to he's trying to do anything,
- 18:03Speaker 2: and you're just completely out of it. At this point,
- 18:07Speaker 2: you want to hear the Joe Hayden interview for a
- 18:09Speaker 2: second time rather than Jermaine Jackson for the first time. Listen, now, annoyed,
- 18:13Speaker 2: Stugts is here.
- 18:15Speaker 10: I had a tiger on the victory Tour. No one knew,
- 18:18Speaker 10: but I had my tiger been with me.
- 18:21Speaker 5: He had a tiger, Stu Gotts. He had a tiger
- 18:23Speaker 5: with him on the victory Tour.
- 18:25Speaker 1: I heard him, Dan, Yeah, No, I heard him.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Jermaine Jackson joining us on seven ninety to take it
- 18:29Speaker 3: will be replaying Joe Hayden coming up at six thirty tonight.
- 18:32Speaker 4: I mean, what do you what does Dan want me
- 18:35Speaker 4: to do with that?
- 18:37Speaker 2: Great Like Dan obviously is waiting for a longer answer
- 18:41Speaker 2: from Jermaine, he doesn't get it, so he just repeats
- 18:44Speaker 2: what he said. Yeah, he goes, I had a tiger
- 18:46Speaker 2: on the victory Tour, he had a tiger. It's almost like,
- 18:50Speaker 2: you know, you're a grandpa. I can't hear he had
- 18:53Speaker 2: a tiger on the victory tour stude.
- 18:56Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I heard him right. It's almost like Dan
- 18:58Speaker 4: wanted me to sell Jermaine's book for him a tiger.
- 19:04Speaker 2: So there goes the interview. It's this is ending and Dan, really,
- 19:11Speaker 2: I'm not playing all but he is asking badgering questions
- 19:15Speaker 2: at this point. I actually and it's funny because we'll
- 19:18Speaker 2: revisit the uh, the reactions we had after the interview.
- 19:23Speaker 2: But when I was listening to this back for the
- 19:25Speaker 2: first time, I was like, wow, these questions were starting
- 19:28Speaker 2: to almost get insulting. But here's how it ends. And
- 19:33Speaker 2: and remember I've said since last week's pod that I
- 19:37Speaker 2: remember Jermaine Jackson just kind of putting the phone down,
- 19:41Speaker 2: like not hanging up, like just kind of put it down.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Like it's a very weird ending. Here's the ending to
- 19:47Speaker 2: the interview.
- 19:48Speaker 5: Is it is it true that you married the same
- 19:52Speaker 5: woman as your brother?
- 19:53Speaker 10: Oh no, no, that's not true.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Falsehood.
- 19:56Speaker 9: So falsehood, one of the many falsehoods surrounding the Jackson families.
- 19:59Speaker 9: To got all eyes, you are not alone Michael threw
- 20:04Speaker 9: up brother's eyes. Shaquille O'Neil came on with us, told
- 20:07Speaker 9: us the story is he still there?
- 20:09Speaker 1: Did I lose him?
- 20:10Speaker 5: Told us the story of Michael.
- 20:13Speaker 9: Jackson sitting on Shaquille O'Neil's bed and immediately wanting to
- 20:17Speaker 9: buy the entire Shaquille O'Neil house. Give us a story
- 20:20Speaker 9: of a time, Jermaine, where you were, you know, an
- 20:24Speaker 9: athlete or an actor or a musician came into your
- 20:26Speaker 9: life and you looked around and said, I can't believe
- 20:28Speaker 9: that this is happening to me.
- 20:38Speaker 5: Well that's good punctuation. That's as good as any.
- 20:41Speaker 1: I think he talks quietly, maybe so, Jermaine.
- 20:56Speaker 5: Joe Hayden replayed at the end of the six o'clock.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Time for a better interview. Mike Buck's gonna join us.
- 21:03Speaker 5: I was to get to Michael didn't want to be black.
- 21:06Speaker 5: I wanted to him up a little bit, you know,
- 21:10Speaker 5: but we never got to it.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Man, has there ever been an interview?
- 21:15Speaker 5: Just let's keep it moving, Let's just keep it moving.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Comes, just keep it moving, all right, Mike Buck, God disappointing.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Keep it moving, not Dan, I'm very disappointed.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Everybody is to keep it moving to the waiting days
- 21:30Speaker 3: of summer, make you feel like you're running on I'm
- 21:31Speaker 3: running on empty right now.
- 21:34Speaker 4: Then a better interview.
- 21:38Speaker 3: The name of the book he was promoting, he was,
- 21:41Speaker 3: you were not alone, and me and Dan never felt
- 21:44Speaker 3: more alone.
- 21:48Speaker 2: It's just I mean, but but in Jermaine's defense, is
- 21:54Speaker 2: it true you married the same girl that your brother married, Like,
- 21:58Speaker 2: that's obviously an internet there was no internet hoaxes back then.
- 22:02Speaker 2: That's a National Inquirer hoax.
- 22:05Speaker 10: Like.
- 22:05Speaker 2: I'm not exactly certain where Dan was going by the end,
- 22:09Speaker 2: other than he was annoyed that the interview wasn't very good.
- 22:12Speaker 2: So he's just like, well, fuck it, I'm gonna ask
- 22:14Speaker 2: whatever I feel like asking.
- 22:15Speaker 4: He was going crazy, that's where he was going.
- 22:17Speaker 3: I mean, he lost his mind. And now we know
- 22:19Speaker 3: why The Art of Conversation only had a two episode run.
- 22:22Speaker 4: I mean, you'd be.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Thankful it wasn't Jermaine the first interview. It'd have been
- 22:29Speaker 2: one and done.
- 22:30Speaker 4: He's going to get so mad.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Here is the first segment after the Jermaine Jackson disaster.
- 22:40Speaker 1: I'm not certain Jermaine really hung up on us.
- 22:43Speaker 5: I think the time is just up.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Well, I think Jermaine doesn't know how to use a phone.
- 22:53Speaker 3: We went along with Jermaine Jackson. We come back after this.
- 22:58Speaker 1: I agree with you, thank you does not know how
- 23:01Speaker 1: to use a phone.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Brule.
- 23:03Speaker 1: At the moment that he came on, it was clear right.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Dan asked a question and Jermaine ja.
- 23:07Speaker 11: It was like he was talking to someone in a
- 23:09Speaker 11: whisper that was right across from him, in a quiet plight.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Oh, like, have you ever used a phone?
- 23:16Speaker 3: But if there's a family, I'm thinking, how like a family?
- 23:19Speaker 3: Because there's such big celebrities that have no use for
- 23:21Speaker 3: a phone. They don't use the phone that often. Perhaps
- 23:23Speaker 3: it is the Jackson film.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Oh, he doesn't need to know how to use a phone.
- 23:26Speaker 2: People come to him. All right.
- 23:27Speaker 11: Let me tell you about Dania Highlight. Dania Highlight is
- 23:29Speaker 11: my place for action. You could make it your place
- 23:31Speaker 11: for action as well. The live highlight action at Dania
- 23:35Speaker 11: Highlight is jermazing. They've got live highlight, they've got simulcasting
- 23:40Speaker 11: of the horses and the dogs, and they've got poker
- 23:42Speaker 11: on the second floor poker room.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Oh god, I love hearing the uh like the show
- 23:48Speaker 2: stuff intertwined with all this stuff. The segue into Mike
- 23:52Speaker 2: Buck and my commercial into Damia Highlight, like I just
- 23:57Speaker 2: like the just the ordinary everyday shows stuff. Yes, just
- 24:01Speaker 2: such a memory.
- 24:03Speaker 4: What a sad half hour for Dan.
- 24:05Speaker 3: A Jermaine Jackson interview that went the other way, I
- 24:08Speaker 3: mean into a Mike Buck interview, and.
- 24:10Speaker 4: Then you Dania highlight Joe Hayden at six point thirty.
- 24:15Speaker 2: I'm then to be thinking what the fuck did I
- 24:18Speaker 2: do with my journalism career? So this is the post mortem.
- 24:25Speaker 2: This is the next segment where we actually start to
- 24:28Speaker 2: break down what happened, which we did with a lot
- 24:31Speaker 2: of interviews. We would do a post mortem, and a
- 24:34Speaker 2: lot of Texters were complaining that you and Dan were
- 24:39Speaker 2: kind of mean in a cerbic right to Jermaine Jackson,
- 24:43Speaker 2: that you guys were culpable in the disaster. Here's how
- 24:47Speaker 2: that segment went.
- 24:48Speaker 5: Hack, Am I missing something like what did we do wrong?
- 24:52Speaker 3: What was wrong with the questions that I was asking, Well,
- 24:55Speaker 3: let's do it this way, Dan, excuse me because we
- 24:58Speaker 3: had Rampage Jackson on earlier this week and it was
- 25:00Speaker 3: a dreadful interview.
- 25:01Speaker 5: I watched that one.
- 25:03Speaker 9: So I watched that one because I wasn't as prepared
- 25:06Speaker 9: as I needed to be for that interview, and I
- 25:08Speaker 9: got some facts wrong.
- 25:09Speaker 3: My point is, Dan, and the reason I bring that
- 25:11Speaker 3: up is when we botch it, we have no problem
- 25:14Speaker 3: telling you that we watched it.
- 25:15Speaker 1: But I honestly, I'm with you. I don't feel like
- 25:17Speaker 1: we did anything wrong during that interview. I really don't.
- 25:20Speaker 11: There there are times that will book a guest and
- 25:22Speaker 11: I kind of know that, Dan z oh, why do
- 25:24Speaker 11: I have this guy on? And I can tell that
- 25:27Speaker 11: it might be one of those interviews where he's gonna
- 25:29Speaker 11: poke and prod a little bit.
- 25:30Speaker 2: This wasn't that.
- 25:31Speaker 1: This was not the case.
- 25:32Speaker 11: In fact, I was a little annoyed by how much
- 25:36Speaker 11: you stroked him when he came on the air. I've
- 25:39Speaker 11: never heard you talk that glowingly about someone before they
- 25:42Speaker 11: came on the air. So this was certainly not a
- 25:44Speaker 11: case of you being disrespectful. You're a huge fan of
- 25:47Speaker 11: their music.
- 25:48Speaker 9: I first concert I've ever been to, and I didn't
- 25:50Speaker 9: mean to be disrespect I don't think it was.
- 25:52Speaker 3: I was about two or three questions away from getting
- 25:55Speaker 3: disrespectful and getting angry, just to be honest, just in spair.
- 25:58Speaker 1: To be honest here, I think he did anything wrong.
- 26:01Speaker 3: You know, No, Michael Jackson, I'm a big fan, huge fan,
- 26:06Speaker 3: but he's strange.
- 26:08Speaker 1: And the world could see that he was strange.
- 26:10Speaker 3: And when either Dan Hawk, when you get a cold, okay,
- 26:13Speaker 3: and you're walking around in a hospital mask. I've had
- 26:15Speaker 3: several colds, you've had him. I never see anyone walking
- 26:18Speaker 3: around in a hospital mask. I'm not holding my baby
- 26:21Speaker 3: over a ledge fifteen stories up in a hotel. He
- 26:24Speaker 3: did some strange things, and for Jermaine to make it
- 26:26Speaker 3: feel like where there's strange was that's where.
- 26:28Speaker 5: I was taking a seam like Michael Jackson never grew up.
- 26:31Speaker 9: It seemed like at fifty years old he was still
- 26:33Speaker 9: a child in every way, still playing with children. People
- 26:36Speaker 9: couldn't believe the idea that he would have kids in
- 26:39Speaker 9: his home and there not be some sort of sexual
- 26:41Speaker 9: intimacy if he was leaving, you know, having them sleep
- 26:44Speaker 9: in his bedroom.
- 26:44Speaker 5: But it seems like he never, I mean, he never
- 26:46Speaker 5: grew up.
- 26:47Speaker 11: What it showed me though, was Jermaine is as delusional
- 26:51Speaker 11: as Michael was.
- 26:52Speaker 5: That's what the interview showed.
- 26:53Speaker 10: I mean.
- 26:53Speaker 9: But I think you see I would disagree with you
- 26:55Speaker 9: on this because I would I would say that what
- 26:58Speaker 9: Jermaine was is a little little too absolute and a
- 27:01Speaker 9: little too resolute in believing.
- 27:04Speaker 5: That because the media was not fair to the family.
- 27:07Speaker 9: And I'm assuming that if any of us went through
- 27:10Speaker 9: what they went through with the media, we too might
- 27:12Speaker 9: feel like the media wasn't fair. I think he's just
- 27:15Speaker 9: gone so far over to the other edge that nothing
- 27:18Speaker 9: the media did was accurate, that every portrayal, that everything
- 27:23Speaker 9: that blame on the Jackson family.
- 27:24Speaker 5: I sort of understand stew Gods. I mean, I do
- 27:27Speaker 5: I blame him. No, I don't blame him. I understand.
- 27:29Speaker 9: I mean, this was a family that felt persecuted by
- 27:31Speaker 9: the American media of its own doing. I mean, a
- 27:36Speaker 9: lot of us have weird stuff in our families. Not
- 27:39Speaker 9: a lot of us live our entire lives on a stage. No,
- 27:41Speaker 9: I mean, listen, I have weird stuff with my family too.
- 27:43Speaker 3: It just annoys me when everyone knows you're weird, everyone
- 27:46Speaker 3: knows you're a little bit strange. It's okay to be
- 27:48Speaker 3: different and strange, and yet you're making everyone else feel like,
- 27:51Speaker 3: you know, hey, you're the strange one.
- 27:53Speaker 1: We're perfectly normal over here. That's the part that was
- 27:56Speaker 1: annoying to me.
- 27:56Speaker 11: I like people that have some kind of self awareness
- 28:00Speaker 11: and people that could make fun of themselves a little bit,
- 28:02Speaker 11: you know what I mean. Like, Yeah, I don't want
- 28:03Speaker 11: anybody picking on my family either, but if my son
- 28:07Speaker 11: jor David does something silly, like I'll be the first
- 28:10Speaker 11: one to point it out.
- 28:13Speaker 4: You're so proud of that, always.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Coming in there with the with the haymaker, always always,
- 28:19Speaker 2: because we would do that after a lot of it. Yeah,
- 28:21Speaker 2: we would, really, we would do a post mortem. And God,
- 28:25Speaker 2: because textures were always weighing in on whether they thought
- 28:30Speaker 2: the interview was good bad, whether you were good, whether
- 28:32Speaker 2: Dan was good, and that was part of the fun
- 28:34Speaker 2: I think of the show was then dissecting because no
- 28:38Speaker 2: sports radio show did this. We would then dissect what
- 28:41Speaker 2: we did the previous segment. Although some people would get
- 28:44Speaker 2: annoyed by that, right, would Jesus Christ?
- 28:47Speaker 4: Move on? Yes, yes, guys, it was bad, move on
- 28:51Speaker 4: to the Dolphins. Let's go right.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Yeah. We wanted, uh, we wanted resolution after those interviews.
- 29:00Speaker 5: In Jermaine's defense, I do think you guys went to
- 29:02Speaker 5: Jafar Jackson.
- 29:06Speaker 4: To Jaffar Jackson.
- 29:09Speaker 2: So here it is you and I are wrapping up
- 29:13Speaker 2: the show. This is what I think happened. Okay, I
- 29:18Speaker 2: think and this would happen every now and then. I
- 29:22Speaker 2: think Dan would go, that was a bad show, and
- 29:24Speaker 2: then he would just want to leave early, and he
- 29:26Speaker 2: would say, can you guys finish?
- 29:27Speaker 1: Yep.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Sometimes he had an appointment that he had to get to,
- 29:32Speaker 2: you know, like so I don't know why he wasn't
- 29:34Speaker 2: there for this final wrap up, but you and I
- 29:38Speaker 2: I love just again the mundane show stuff. You and
- 29:41Speaker 2: I are promoting some events that are coming up for
- 29:44Speaker 2: the show, which also has to make like if Dan's
- 29:47Speaker 2: if Dan got into his car after what he considered
- 29:51Speaker 2: to be a bad show, I'm imagining Joe Hayden and
- 29:53Speaker 2: Jermaine Jackson was not the pinnacle of No No.
- 29:57Speaker 3: But I gotta tell you, like, don't leave early. If
- 29:59Speaker 3: you're gonna mad at what me and Hawk do, whyn't
- 30:01Speaker 3: you leave?
- 30:01Speaker 4: I mean, how about that?
- 30:02Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, but I think probably just sad in us
- 30:06Speaker 2: listing all the things that are coming up, like the
- 30:09Speaker 2: Quarterdeck appearance, you know, like.
- 30:11Speaker 4: We had to get him in while Dan was out.
- 30:13Speaker 3: I mean I think we're like, I think he left
- 30:15Speaker 3: early hot because we were running back Joe Hayden at
- 30:17Speaker 3: six point thirty the show was over here seven and.
- 30:19Speaker 4: He just wanted to get out of that.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Why did he have to leave though an appointment? Did
- 30:23Speaker 2: he just want to get home?
- 30:24Speaker 4: I don't know, my I'm thinking here just uh and
- 30:27Speaker 4: I think you'll agree with me.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Hayden probably took us to nearly to the end of
- 30:32Speaker 3: the show and it was like a four minute segment
- 30:34Speaker 3: and we're like, Dan, just come back, yeah, and he
- 30:36Speaker 3: was in.
- 30:36Speaker 4: A pan mood and we'd like just get out.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, you might as well just get out
- 30:39Speaker 2: of here and we'll just wrap it up. And this
- 30:41Speaker 2: is us wrapping up that show.
- 30:44Speaker 5: Food Truck Derby is Saturday.
- 30:46Speaker 11: That's at Gulfstream Park and then Saturday night we've got
- 30:49Speaker 11: another UFC watch party and that's at the Quarterdeck near
- 30:52Speaker 11: Sagres Sawgress Mills.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Yeah, it's actually out in Plantation.
- 30:55Speaker 3: We'll be out there at eight o'clock and we'll have
- 30:57Speaker 3: prizes to give.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Away food and drink specials.
- 31:00Speaker 3: And of course we love Frank the owner at at Quarterdeck,
- 31:03Speaker 3: and every time we go out there Hawk, the place's pack.
- 31:04Speaker 1: So that's gonna be a great time. So Saturday night
- 31:06Speaker 1: you can make a nice little night of it.
- 31:08Speaker 8: There.
- 31:08Speaker 3: You're seven ninety fan food Truck Derby at Goldstream Park.
- 31:12Speaker 3: And then when you're done with that, come on over
- 31:13Speaker 3: and drink with us and watch the UFC at the quarterdeck.
- 31:15Speaker 4: Yeah, perfect night.
- 31:16Speaker 11: Food truck derby starts at five o'clock, so you can
- 31:18Speaker 11: shout down there and then you get your drink on
- 31:21Speaker 11: at quarterdeck. I think the UFC cards start at nine o'clock,
- 31:24Speaker 11: now right, they started at nine o'clock.
- 31:25Speaker 3: Yeah, they started at nine o'clock. It's Jones versus Rampage Jackson.
- 31:28Speaker 3: And by the way, it's located at one two three
- 31:31Speaker 3: seven zero West Sunrise Boulevard out in Plantation.
- 31:34Speaker 1: That's the quarterdeck out there.
- 31:35Speaker 11: And speaking of Rampage Jackson, we had Rampage Jackson on
- 31:38Speaker 11: earlier in the week. If you missed the interview or
- 31:40Speaker 11: the other Jackson that we had on today, Jermaine Jackson.
- 31:44Speaker 11: If you missed either of those Jackson interviews, you need
- 31:47Speaker 11: to go to seven ninety the ticket dot com slash
- 31:49Speaker 11: Dan and listen to those interviews, either via the podcast
- 31:53Speaker 11: or online at the archives, because it was two terrible
- 31:57Speaker 11: Jackson interviews. Rampage Jackson interview went awry because you and
- 32:01Speaker 11: Dan were ill prepared. The Jermaine Jackson interview went awride
- 32:05Speaker 11: today because we have we have theorized that he doesn't
- 32:10Speaker 11: know how to use a telephone.
- 32:11Speaker 1: He doesn't, we can't interview Jackson's It's very.
- 32:14Speaker 11: Difficult to interview someone on the phone when they have
- 32:17Speaker 11: no experience on a phone.
- 32:19Speaker 1: It seemed like that was the first time Jermaine has
- 32:21Speaker 1: ever used a phone, did it? It's weird.
- 32:23Speaker 11: Dan comes out with the question and Jermaine starts to answer,
- 32:26Speaker 11: and Jeron turns to me and he says, I don't
- 32:28Speaker 11: think Jermaine Jackson knows how to use a phone.
- 32:31Speaker 4: It's very possible.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Jermaine Jackson was holding the phone upside down.
- 32:34Speaker 11: Sometimes if I'm calling, if I'm driving home after work
- 32:37Speaker 11: and I'll call my kid, he'll answer the phone. I'll go, hey, hey,
- 32:40Speaker 11: you have you have the phone upside down? I felt
- 32:42Speaker 11: like you, like someone should have yelled at at Jermaine Jackson.
- 32:44Speaker 3: Yeap, speaking of home, I'm coming home, Cheetah, Allendale Beach
- 32:47Speaker 3: Here I come Zaslo's up next.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Coming on?
- 32:53Speaker 8: Yeah, in a fucking element, A couple of radio pros
- 33:00Speaker 8: cutting it up. I mean a couple of radio pros
- 33:06Speaker 8: with the food truck derby the quarter Deck.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Here's a couple of interviews we did. You got to
- 33:13Speaker 2: check it out on the website. We actually can listen
- 33:16Speaker 2: to interviews on the website now. And I'm coming home, Cheetah,
- 33:20Speaker 2: because you've got to weave in a sponsor at the end,
- 33:23Speaker 2: Sayslo's next. I mean, like like Carrie Strug hitting the
- 33:27Speaker 2: perfect landing. I mean, we are in our fucking element.
- 33:31Speaker 4: And our Bella Coroli was in a car driving home
- 33:34Speaker 4: listening to Jim Manditch.
- 33:40Speaker 2: Bella.
- 33:42Speaker 1: I think I said it right.
