Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: The men in India's Brothers is a famous case in America.
- 0:03Speaker 1: They may be released from prison, could be within the
- 0:05Speaker 1: next few weeks. Tiny Wardman and US correspondent Figure Story
- 0:08Speaker 1: News with me this morning.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Tiny, Good morning, Good morning.
- 0:12Speaker 1: So how has this come about. Why has the judge
- 0:15Speaker 1: decided to reduce this sentence.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Well, this judge resentenced them to life in prison with
- 0:23Speaker 2: the possibility of paroles, So this is going to really
- 0:25Speaker 2: pave the way for them to be released. The judge
- 0:28Speaker 2: didn't outright say that the brothers should be released. That
- 0:31Speaker 2: is a decision that's going to be left up for
- 0:34Speaker 2: California's governor and the parole board. But he did say
- 0:37Speaker 2: that after thirty five years behind bars, that they did
- 0:41Speaker 2: deserve a chance to get out. This is really a
- 0:44Speaker 2: case that has gripped the United States for decades. It's
- 0:49Speaker 2: been the saga that has been playing out and there
- 0:51Speaker 2: have been a number of these docu series, particularly this
- 0:54Speaker 2: one that came out last year on Netflix, that have
- 0:58Speaker 2: been done on them, which has really brought the to
- 1:00Speaker 2: a younger generation. They have been behind bars essentially since
- 1:05Speaker 2: nineteen eighty nine, that is when they were convicted of
- 1:08Speaker 2: killing their parents inside their Ritzy Beverly Hills Mansions, and
- 1:13Speaker 2: the brother The brothers have always maintained that they killed
- 1:17Speaker 2: their parents because they feared their parents were going to
- 1:20Speaker 2: kill them first after years of really horrible sexual abuse
- 1:24Speaker 2: at the hands of their father, something that they claim
- 1:27Speaker 2: their mother was aware of and that they were trying
- 1:29Speaker 2: to keep a secret. So that has always been their claim.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Over the years, their family members have come out and
- 1:35Speaker 2: advocated for them, including before this decision came down, and
- 1:39Speaker 2: as you mentioned, they're going to be potentially could be
- 1:42Speaker 2: released as soon as June thirteen, that is when they
- 1:44Speaker 2: are scheduled to appear before the Board of Paroles and.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Very quickly, Tony, the two hundred and ten Boeing aircraft
- 1:52Speaker 1: that kassan Ewise is going to get us part of
- 1:54Speaker 1: this deal with Trump.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Yeah, so this is actually the big Boeing order ever,
- 2:01Speaker 2: two hundred and ten Boeing airplanes that was signed as
- 2:06Speaker 2: Donald Trump is taking this trip across the Middle East
- 2:08Speaker 2: in Kutta earlier today. You know, there was another thing
- 2:12Speaker 2: that they signed. This is a statement of intent that
- 2:14Speaker 2: could lead to thirty eight billion dollars in investments at
- 2:18Speaker 2: Qatar's LB Airbase, which is this vital US military hub
- 2:23Speaker 2: in the Middle East. One thing they didn't talk about,
- 2:25Speaker 2: at least publicly, is this very controversial offer by Kuta
- 2:29Speaker 2: to donate a four hundred million dollar luxury Boeing jet
- 2:34Speaker 2: to be the next air Force one, which of course
- 2:36Speaker 2: has led to a raft of conflict of interest concerns
- 2:40Speaker 2: and foreign foreign influence concerns, because don't forget, this is
- 2:43Speaker 2: the same Kuta where the Trump family business has just
- 2:47Speaker 2: struck a deal to build a Trump branded luxury golf
- 2:50Speaker 2: resort and villa. And he's his family has been striking
- 2:53Speaker 2: deals like this all across the Middle East right now,
- 2:56Speaker 2: his first foreign trip as president to that very region.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Yeah, big, Dale's tiny. Thanks for your time. Tony Waterman,
- 3:01Speaker 1: US correspondent Figure Story News.
