- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: I am your co-host extraordinaire, Chris Miles.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: I also host another podcast here on the Rise Network called New I'm Music Group.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: Episodes come out, new episodes are either.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: Come out every single Friday unless we have personal matters to attend to.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_01]: And sending across from me is my co-host.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: And of our from Ken I call you dad.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm glad to be here.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: Chris, of course, is the host of a new music role if you didn't say that already.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: And he's extraordinary, which if you want to be extra ordinary, I guess that's pretty good.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'd rather be extra exceptional myself, but Chris is his ordinary and then he's a little extra.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: He's a little extra ordinary.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: So finally figured out what his situation is now that we have that locked in.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: So glad that you can break down a word.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: That could be your superhero power.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: Extra ordinary.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: Right, and your superhero power is never shutting up.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: One for the extra ordinary guy or talking over people that's how we'll talk over people I talk through them It's a difference exactly.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's been it's been a week been a week We were some last week since we have been together to talk about things and of course on the last episode We said we were gonna review disclosure day disclosure day and I will confess I did not see it
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: Your sins are forgiven.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: Did not thank you.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't realize.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for our fathers.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to help me.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I was waiting for.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: Do I get a Snickers for that?
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to tell Mary three times.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: Do I get a Snickers?
- 1:58[SPEAKER_01]: Do I get a Snickers for that, too?
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, Snickers.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: So, disclosure day.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: But, I do have a review of my own for something...
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: I would say just as popular.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: And I will be reviewing the TV show on Netflix called The Burrows.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: And then of course later on in the episode we'll talk about what we feel our worst soundtracks are The soundtracks that we feel from movies that are just I won't say got off of but that's what the word That's the word that comes to mind.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I wouldn't say got off.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: I just say the music didn't fit
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: you did that last time was not charts for you said like the music fit or whatever music has to fit.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't necessarily agree with that, but there are some movies where you're extra ordinary.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: You know the music didn't fit in a bodyguard, but let's let's go on for that.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so movies coming out this weekend.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: This is a huge weekend if you are a comic book fan only because the highly anticipated super girl movie comes out in theaters this weekend.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: and I'm sure a lot of people are going to be running to the movie theaters to see that notice I didn't say flying correct you did not say flying that's very good also coming out this week is jackass best and last which features you doesn't it?
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think it does.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: In the lead character, from not mistaken.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: Extraordinary.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_01]: In limited releases, the invite.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm only including normally we don't include limited releases, but I'm including this one because it actually has a really decent cast.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: And it's kind of interesting.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_01]: Now, obviously we didn't go over supergroom on what it's all about because I feel like itself explanatory.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_01]: However, should we call this a spoiler alert?
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not exactly sure, but I'm going to give you a tip.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: Do not waste your time with the Helen Slater version of this movie that came out in the 80s.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: It is God awful Okay, and I watched it for the first time a couple of days ago.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: Never seen it before until now, and it's terrible So if we're looking at movies and which one is gonna do better?
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: I think this super girl will probably be better than the one from Did the days of future past as I like to call it?
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: Jason Mamo is in it.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: He's playing Lobo, so it should be interesting as well.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: And then of course, Jack asks, featuring all the cast characters that you would probably remember from that movie.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not recommending that ever.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: Jack asks, it's...
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's when the when it first came out, it was funny and then after while it just became stupid because you were like, I'll start you guys stupid.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: You guys are just doing stuff it.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you're true.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: The first episode because nobody ever did that before back in the day.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: They did this nobody ever filmed it.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know why?
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: Because it's stupid.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, that's your own personal opinion.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: Just saying those of us that grew up in that era thought if there's a film of a sex disease for a reason those of us that grew up in the era thought that they at least the first season was going to be funny.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's right exactly.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's the point.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah And your extra ordinary right exactly So Jack asked of course starring Johnny Knoxville on the rest of the gang I didn't like him in the remake of the movie with the rock
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: he played a nice character in that the movie walking tall the remake of the original walking tall Johnny Knoxville was in there as a sidekick to Dwayne Johnson and I have to say I did like him in that and he digress his folks I'm just saying I'm not not all bad was he in walking tall I don't remember him in walking tall he was just sidekick okay
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: Also, like I said coming out this week, we're talking about the movie, the invite and the reason I said I included it because it is limited release is the fact that Edward Norton and Edward Norton is in it rather Seth Rogan, Rogan as I had to call him is in a no offense.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: He just is missing hair.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I do that.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, Penelope Cruz, Olivia Wilde, Rashid Jones, and let's see, Ben Browning as well.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: So it's got a stellar cast.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if it's going to be any good.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: The premise that they're giving you on it is that Joe and Angela are on thin ice.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: And tonight might be when it all falls apart.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, their upstairs neighbors are about to arrive for dinner.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: And everything that can go wrong goes worse.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, OK.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: So back to walking tall.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you were right Johnny Knoxville is in it.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: I just couldn't remember and it probably because it's generally right Okay, anyway Probably because his performance was absolutely repulsive, but that's the same.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: It was not he did a really nice job.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's your opinion as you are where I'm not a huge fan
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: Well, okay.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: So that's saying something.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_01]: And then last but not least as far as theaters are concerned for releases this coming week is a movie called Couture.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: Couture.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: Couture.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: Which star.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, exactly where stars.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_01]: You didn't do that.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_01]: Which stars.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: Annelina Cholina.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: Angelina.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: Angelina.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: I won't comment.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: Angelina.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: I said Angelina.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: Angelina.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: Angelina.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't like being called an
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I call her Angie let's see.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm sure she like you call under that she does Anyway, it's obviously about the fashion world that's set in the frenzy of Paris fashion week If you're into that kind of stuff you might enjoy it again remember it is it's not in limited release Especially released our world wide Devils Prada.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of what I'm thinking.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's like trying to write the cocktails of devils Prada at least.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: That's what it sounds like she hasn't been in it
- 7:34[SPEAKER_01]: anything in a while right it's been a minute as the kids like to say a hot minute yeah so anyway those are the movies that are coming out in theaters and then there are two movies coming out on streaming services both of which I don't think you have if I remember correctly a little brother is the first one that's coming out on Netflix little brother
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: Little brother.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you said butter at first.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: I said little.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_01]: I probably said little brother.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: You probably wanted to say little butter.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you need hearing aids.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: We've already said butter.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: It starts John Cena and Michelle Monaham, which if I remember correctly, I think she was in Gotham.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's about a famous real estate agent's carefully curated world, which basically is upended when his eclectic little brother unexpectedly reappears.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: Eclectic.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: Eclectic.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: Was that pronounced enough for you, Mr. Phoenician?
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I never heard anybody describe their family members eclectic music collection.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: Probably a better way of saying something else.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, it means he's all over the place.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: Could be sort of eclectic means.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: And that could be the better way.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: That could be the better way of explaining somebody who might be like rainman.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: So there you go.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: And he says, none of the furniture matches.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's a style.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's eclectic.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there you go.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: Couture and a club nobody nobody is he's any saying anything about the vocabulary knowledge that you have Mr I've done business skill.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, I know goes into as we'll see how much that does four goes into eight two times So goes into as the last movie coming out this week This one's on peacock.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's called strong.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: I have peacock
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I'm glad you do and the rest of the library heard you too.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: I hope so.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: Tyler Perry stars in it And that probably says enough about what this movie's gonna be.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's not another medium movie, but he is in it It's a talented violinist prestigious new role as a music tutor for anigmatic elite family spirals into a psychological battle for her safety and sanity
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: What's with all these enigmatic?
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: I don't.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: Eclectic tour.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: Today's an e-day.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: This is like fancy schmancy word day.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I'm sorry.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: Are you feeling a little less agimicated?
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm feeling a little behind behind.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm feeling like I'm in an elite.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: suburb now there you go you know I come from the hood so that being said and we already knew you came from the hood I think I think we have a unanimous vote here right we do oh you're gonna go see jackass oh no oh okay so you're gonna go see super girl too right
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's not super girl too.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: It's super girl.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: Just super girl.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: She got the dog with her.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, okay.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: Well.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: What's the dog name?
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: Crypto.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay, you have any crypto by the way, cuz it's going up again.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: No, I do not.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care about crypto.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you should cuz it's fake.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna blow up.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: I hope it does in somebody's face.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: Pretty soon.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to be couture.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: and you are going to be extroordinary.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: They find how to be cryptoless.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care because I don't see the point in it, but that's just me.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of things that I don't see the point in, I did not see the point in disclosure day.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: So that's why I'm letting you review it.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: So give it to us there, big man, who knows all these big words.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: Well, here's the thing.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, here we go.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: I went to this movie, first thing did you see it yesterday, did you see it today?
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: I saw yesterday.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I saw it last night.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: I can't remember the last Steven Spielberg movie.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: Recent Steven's big, my wrong.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: I don't remember anything, but I had really high hopes for this movie because it's Spielberg.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's very today, obviously.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's all about the government's...
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: with the word, because not conspiracy, the government's reluctancy to reveal information on extraterrestrials.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: So to interject you really quickly, the fable man's was the last movie he was given in the 1970s.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's 20, 22.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it was only four years ago.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: And it's here.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: Before that, he directed a website story.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, that wasn't good either.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: The remake was not as good as the original.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, disclosure day.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: First of all, I don't know why they needed the word day.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: disclosure would have been fine.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't really need.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: They was kind of, to me, was kind of redundant.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: But there's really only one, well, two stars in here, Colin Firth, that you won't recognize, I didn't recognize it was Colin Firth, and Emily Blunt.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: The rest of these people, I don't know who they are.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: A common domain, I've seen them in other things too, so maybe there's three.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: But all the rest of these people are people that you won't know.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I mean, it's kind of, it's kind of, it's close encounters taken to the next level is what it seemed like to me.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: and they show footage that had me thinking that's the one thing it did have me thinking towards the end of the movie they show footage that may or may not be hijacked footage from government sources possibly or it could be AI.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to tell.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: And anyway, the premise of this is that the
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: truth or non-truth of alien existence is what this movie is about and how the government has been keeping its secret for many, many, many, many years.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: There's some plausibility in it.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_00]: There's some things that kind of are not plausible in it.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think it kind of was a weak storyline.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: For me, for this kind of movie, I watch all the ancient aliens and those kind of movies, and I'm a believer that you can't have a universe as big as we have, and not have other life somewhere.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: A Berleaver?
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: Berleaver.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: Of Couture.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: So this, I wouldn't think this was going to be more than it was, and I was disappointed.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'd probably give it a six.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_00]: And I really, really, and I won't give it away, but I really didn't like the end at all.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_00]: Not a typical Steven Spielberg ending at all.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: And it's the other side of E.T., it's total, you know, the B side of the E.T.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_00]: record.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_00]: If E.T was the A side, this is the B side, then nobody is probably gonna care about too much.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: And that is exactly why do you wanna see this movie?
- 14:36[SPEAKER_01]: you did say that and I was like it's going to be another it's going to be like a retelling or it's going to have something to ETS to do with it and I was like ridiculous yeah it wasn't though wasn't ETS should I was it was completely different nobody phoned anybody well I didn't think it was going to be like phone home and all the cutesy lovey stuff that E.T.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: was but I figured it was going to have something to do with you know some sort of alien life communicating with us so no it's not that at all no good well then what's it about?
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: Well, here's the problem with this movie.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: Unlike other Steven Spielberg movies, if I tell you what it's about, I give it away.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the biggest problem with this movie.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: So we could say that if I give you two sentences, description.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to give you two sentences description right now.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: You ready?
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: A cybersecurity expert and a TV meteorologist race against a secret government agency to leak the truth, actually it's one sentence, about the existence of alien life.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_00]: No, that's, that's really not what it's about.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: that's what they that's that is literally what they give you from the internet on disclosure day it's not it's that's the description they give you I know the premise it's not what it's about it all okay it really isn't then why why put up a premise like that if there's not really what it's about it's a lot more about the government knowing aliens are are here and
- 16:01[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I can't I can't that's exactly what leaking the truth about the existence of alien life states when they're talking about a sneaker government agency the crux of this movie is another nice word crux isn't that
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: That's part of the movie, but the crux you.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: But that's not the crux of it at all.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: And if you go see it, you'll understand what I'm saying.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't, I've been accused of giving away things on this show as you know by a certain person.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_01]: You need to stop listening to your critics and not worrying about it.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: Is that my critic?
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, totally is, because you're always worried about what he says.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_00]: And I have to worry about it.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, if you need a good car repair sale or good car repair man, not salesman, sorry.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_01]: In the Westmont slash downturn scroll of Illinois area, check out to be there auto repair.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: You're welcome.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_00]: Stop bugging your father anyway.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_00]: Not bugging me.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_00]: He's he has some truth and what he says.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_00]: He's coming.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe one thing maybe we can show.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_00]: We can show
- 17:03[SPEAKER_00]: All right, so what did you give it again?
- 17:05[SPEAKER_00]: I gave it a six.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_00]: A six, okay.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_00]: This is a, you know, I love sci-fi.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_00]: I told you a long time ago.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't see this again.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to see it ever, so there we go.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so I guess that's how we needed to say about that.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_01]: Move it on to TV because that's what I decided to review.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: So I was,
- 17:27[SPEAKER_01]: intrigued by this for multiple reasons and why this i'm referring to the world so yes it is big word they put on your big boy pants too i don't have any well then that sounds like a you problem um so uh yeah so i would say that i may add a decent
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, and I should say decent.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: I would say that I thoroughly enjoy stranger things.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: I would not say that I'm like over the top of fan of it.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, a huge, huge fan.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: But I would say that I thought it was a great series.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought, you know, it had a lot of great moments in it, a lot of great story, design, stuff like that.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_01]: And a really good homage to the 80s and all things 80s as well too.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: And moving into.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: the burrows.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_01]: I was kind of feeling the same thing.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, all right, so let's see if the duff the brothers can do it again and let's see if they can give us what we want.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, that didn't happen in my eyes.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_01]: And here's the reason why I say that.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: I say it because
- 18:36[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it doesn't hit the mark on a lot of things.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: After watching the first episode, by the way, I was highly recommended for me to see this.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: And after watching the first episode, I was like, I swear to God, if this turns out to be like a retelling of cocoon, I am not gonna be happy with myself.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: And for those of you that didn't grow up in the 80s, we have our 80s expert here.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: So can you give us a synopsis of what cocoon is there in Mr. Man?
- 18:58[SPEAKER_00]: I can, indeed, because I've seen there were two, at least two, I know, they're not even three.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_00]: And, um,
- 19:05[SPEAKER_00]: I like Brian Denny.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_00]: He's in it.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: What is the synopsis of the book?
- 19:10[SPEAKER_00]: Donna Meachey, who's also in it.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_01]: And so as a good person.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_00]: The premise of cocoon is these aliens, again, who come to earth and they put some pods in a pool, a abandoned pool, near an old people's home.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_00]: And some of the old people,
- 19:31[SPEAKER_00]: find the pool and go swimming in the pool and become energized, become youthful.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_00]: There's a scene where Donna Meachie, if you know who Donna Meachie is, and if you don't know, go watch trading places with Eddie Murphy, he's one of the brothers.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_00]: You'll see him actually, you know, 69, 70 year old guy break dance scene at a club.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_00]: That's what these pods are supposed to do.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_00]: and and then eventually and William William Brimford is in a two who's also one of my favorite actors so it's a it's a old people
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: make contact with aliens and it brings them some youthful vigor and they try to bring more than more of the nursing home people are not nursing home it's an old folks home not really a nursing home over to jump in the pool and get revitalized as well and then they made a sequel to it as well where the aliens have to come back and get the pods and the old people help them.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's a fun movie.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's a really good idea.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'd not see that alien movie.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_00]: I would probably give 8.5.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: So I'd watch it again.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: Cocoon back in the day was actually pretty good.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_01]: I saw it as well too.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: I did not see the second one because I was like, I don't see more.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_01]: Need to see more of the first and whatever.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_01]: However, here's the funny thing.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_01]: If you ever saw Cocoon, you've pretty much seen the story about the Burles.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: So a little bit of a spoiler alert here.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: But yes, the Burles takes place in an old folks community.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so it's got a very good cast though.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: I will say that.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_01]: Gina Davis is in it.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_01]: Alfred Molina's in it if you are a fan of Spider-Man like the original Spider-Man's You probably are not willing to admit that right now, but he played doc op doc oc
- 21:18[SPEAKER_01]: Rather, Dennis O'Hara is in it.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see who else.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_01]: Alfred Wood is in it.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: And Seth Newmirk and Alice Crumbleberg play like the villains of the show, I guess you can say that.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's got a decent cast.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of interesting characters in here.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_01]: If I said, did I say Gina Davis is in it?
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: Gina Davis is in it if I didn't say it already.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: OK. Carlos Moranda's in it as well too.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: After the first episode, I was like, okay, I swear if this is what's gonna happen.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's what's gonna happen.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: And I was really kind of like, This it just gave me a bad vibe and Then the second episode and the third episode and by the time I watched like I watched the three episodes and then by the time I got to the third episode I was like, okay, this is what's gonna happen.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: And I pretty much figured it out Because there's these aliens that go visiting These elderly folks in their sleep, and that's all I will say about that
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: and certain curators of said community of retirees that people that run the place in other words are the ones that are drinking the cool aid and we'll leave it at that because I don't want to give away too many too many I don't want to do too many spoilers here but that's exactly what it is and Alfred Molina was pretty much the lead in it he plays a guy who is pretty tech savvy and he figures out a way to combat them so to speak
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: And his daughter in the show, a lot of people have grown to hate her because the way she treats her dad.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: But later on in the show, you find out that she was misled, and that's all I'm going to say about it.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, if you've seen cocoon, you've kind of known the whole thing.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_01]: If you know who Ponctin Leon is and the fountain of youth, you probably understand the story there as well too, and that's pretty much it in a nutshell.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_01]: That is what this is about.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: However, it does, in the sense where cocoon is the, the old folks hop in the pool and get younger, they're actually being used for a source, a food source, so to speak, in a different way.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: So it's a little different, but it still got that whole, like,
- 23:27[SPEAKER_01]: It eternal life like never dying kind of being vampire, ask thing, and that kind of stuff in a weird sort of way.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_01]: And the Duffler butters produced all this, they were executive producers on this, just like they were on Stranger Things.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what they thought about it.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_01]: So here is the Crem de la Crem when it comes to that.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, I'm gonna give you my rating.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: I give it a five.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: It was okay, and that's about it.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, probably a four.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: Now that I really think about it, although a lot of people kind of gave it like a six and a seven in a lot of different places, but I think that's because it's a younger audience who's never seen other stuff, like older movies and things of that nature.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_01]: So to me, this was just a retelling of cocoon.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: That's all it was.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: It was a re-rapping of cocoon in a different way, so to speak.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but here's the creme de la creme, or the piece de lourous distance, as far as I'm concerned.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: Um, after season one, Netflix has canceled this show.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: So, there it is right there, yeah, it got a 96% on rotten tomatoes, I don't understand why.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, that's it in a nutshell.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: If you're into alien, sci-fi stuff, you'll get a kick out of it.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_01]: If you haven't seen cocoon, you'll probably be a little bit more drawn to it.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_01]: But after that, it's just, that's the way it boils down to.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_00]: Watch, just one episode.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_01]: No, I watch, I think there's eight episodes and you let's four of them.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: I watched all eight episodes.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: All eight?
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: I watched the entire series.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, yeah.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_00]: In one night.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_01]: No, over the course of a couple of nights, we watch like two episodes, maybe three episodes, whatever.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: And then two or three and whatever.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_01]: We went through the whole thing.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but yeah, uh, it'll suck you in at first and then if you, uh, if you are a fan of movies, you'll probably figure it out real quickly and I kind of give it away too and you'll be like, and the other thing is, one last thing, Gina Davis doesn't look like she fits in with the rest of the cast anyway.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_01]: Um, she looks remarkable.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: I will say that much, but everyone else looks like they're older and she looks like she's the young 50th hippie that's there because, you know, somehow she got in.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 25:39[SPEAKER_01]: She doesn't if you if you were to like, what's that del web, right?
- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: The entire facility that's in a lot of places.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: She looks like she's she looks like she's one of the caregivers for somebody at like one of the del web places, you know.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, that's it.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm done.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not talking about the boroughs.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_01]: I think we've given it more than enough time.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_00]: So let's move on to move on to the to the actual part of the episode.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, where we talk about some of the worst soundtracks in movies and you have already given your little Disposition on it, I guess you could say is that you're going to come at it from an angle of the music doesn't fit the film.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_01]: So to speak, right?
- 26:16[SPEAKER_00]: It has to segue well
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_00]: So you can't have an action scene and have the song underneath it be, you know, a slow ballad.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: So let's segue.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's my to you.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: And which movies are you picking or which soundtrack are you picking?
- 26:34[SPEAKER_00]: We reviewed this a while back and I mentioned it then and it's the
- 26:48[SPEAKER_00]: in that movie at all.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_00]: For me, it didn't work for me at all.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_00]: The music didn't lend itself to the music, it didn't blend in with the movie for me.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_00]: It was more distracting than anything else.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_00]: So when you're being distracted by the music, it's hard to follow along with the dialogue in the movie in my opinion.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_00]: So that would be my first one.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: Then there's some that are just kind of like so generally I want to back up for a second that movie was about a man who produced like R&B and hip-hop Right and that was the music that was featured in it so how it was and it wasn't it wasn't it wasn't it I thought it would be but it wasn't
- 27:34[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, we must not have seen the same movie it didn't fit that the context of the soundtrack didn't fit the context of the movie The one of the most famous ones that that was paned by a lot of people was a troll two the troll movie
- 27:50[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's nothing but me.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that was pan by a lot of people.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_00]: That was, that was soundtrack, was pan by a lot of people.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_00]: And I kind of agree that it didn't really, I mean, it's a cartoon, but still.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, troll, it's a troll.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, what do you think I said?
- 28:04[SPEAKER_01]: You said troll, not trolls.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_00]: troll, troll, troll, T-R-O-L-L. Troll, troll, two.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_01]: Trolls, it's trolls, it's multiple, it's not just one.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's one.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you're talking about a different movie.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_00]: Dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude
- 28:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's not the trolls, okay, not the cartoon one, okay?
- 28:38[SPEAKER_00]: The cartoon one, the music is, is the movie, okay.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's, it's the movie, cut trolls.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_00]: So, okay, those are my two.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_00]: I only have two today.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's it?
- 28:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's it.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_00]: We have seven.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot to pick from, because there's a lot that just don't make any sense.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_01]: I was curious, I thought you would go a little bit older.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_01]: I thought you would go with, you know.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_01]: Other movies, but okay.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_00]: Older movies tend to be very true in terms of the music they use for the genre of the movie in my opinion.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'm also surprised you didn't actually pick a soundtrack soundtrack.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: You like you picked like a musical score soundtrack.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_01]: I guess I should say.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's a soundtrack.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_00]: There's a, no, there's an original score.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_00]: Then there's a soundtrack.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking about the soundtrack for highs to lowest.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, not like where they had background music when the guys running through the park or some shit.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_00]: That's a whole different.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm glad you're differentiated between those two.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_01]: So now that our audience knows exactly what you're talking about.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_01]: Why would hope?
- 29:36[SPEAKER_01]: Because what was on the troll soundtrack?
- 29:40[SPEAKER_00]: All music that didn't work.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_00]: Troll, not trolls.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm going to offend a lot of people with this one.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: But my very first pick is the crying game.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_01]: That was utterly terrible as far as the soundtrack is concerned.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_01]: Produce, of course, by the Pet Shop Boys, which was about the only good thing that was going for it.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, other than that, it's just kind of, really, I don't see how that fit.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_01]: However, it probably fit in another way, just from the way all that stuff works.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: And then I'm gonna only take one other ones because I've never liked the soundtrack ever in my entire life,
- 30:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you didn't like the title song.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_01]: No, I do not
- 30:30[SPEAKER_00]: No, you don't like that.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_00]: You don't like the old lady throwing the wish.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_00]: I wish I wish a relake.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_01]: I wish an ocean a first of all that movie was terrible as far as I was terrible When my top two worst movies and fours and I would like those three hours of my life back, but as far as I'm concerned that song should be called my fart will go on Not my heart will go on because it's terrible That's good.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_01]: I like that but anyway I though you know what I'm gonna throw another one and just to piss more people off that man forever
- 30:59[SPEAKER_01]: How did any of those songs fit in a super hero movie?
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'll give you that.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_01]: Kiss from Rose?
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: Really?
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: Are you kidding me?
- 31:07[SPEAKER_00]: I'll give you that.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'm done.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you want to make that soundtrack better is if the Spice Girls were around that.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_01]: Then it would have been better.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, I digress.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's it.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm done.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure you do.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_01]: Anything else you want to add in there?
- 31:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think you've covered that very well.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so are we in a Grants that Supergirl is going to be the movie that we're reviewing next time around?
- 31:32[SPEAKER_00]: We are.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_01]: All right, cool.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: So we will be back next week with a review of Supergirl.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, we will also do an eclectic review.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you might.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going to do a regular review because I'm only extra ordinary.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: You're extraordinary.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_01]: We are now, but.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_01]: And then of course, we'll always give you an update preview on the movies that are coming out the next week.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody told us that in one of our last episodes, you and I made a comment about how we were just not thrilled with the way the movies are coming out and how there's really not a lot of movies forward to and somebody was like,
- 32:05[SPEAKER_01]: y'all missed the point the point was is that they weren't they they were too spread out over the course of the summer right and I remember when I was a kid and maybe Maybe it's just that whole thing but like there was a blockbuster after a blockbuster if there a blockbuster every week It doesn't feel like it's been that way for a while and that's what I was saying when I said what I said yeah about how it's just kind of
- 32:26[SPEAKER_00]: So, and for the person who said that, I agree with you, by the way, I'm on your site.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_00]: So, of course you are.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_00]: I think curse was wrong here.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, of course you are.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_00]: So little on suck up.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_00]: Little applause would be nice if we get a chance.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_01]: There's your applause.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, and then next week we'll do worst makeup.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_01]: Sounds good.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: Not ours though.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't do my makeup.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_01]: Do you do my makeup?
- 32:54[SPEAKER_00]: I have a makeup artist.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you look like you went on the sun.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_00]: That's what it's about the only makeup.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_00]: I was out in the sun.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_00]: I was in the pool all the way.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_00]: And now you put on an orange shirt and you really look like a oompholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholumpholum
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, speaking of open-loop as you need to watch the Pickle Ball episode of Can I Call Your Dad?
- 33:16[SPEAKER_00]: Did you watch it?
- 33:17[SPEAKER_00]: I've... You were there?
- 33:19[SPEAKER_00]: I was there filming a live.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_01]: And you mentioned afterwards you saw the video and what did you say?
- 33:24[SPEAKER_00]: I had to have a channel on a yellow.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was an orange shirt.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_00]: That was yellow.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it was yellow choice of shirt.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_00]: Why did you say you shouldn't have worn that?
- 33:33[SPEAKER_00]: Because I look like a lemon.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, if you'd like to see a lot of one watch that episode, you want to have absolutely I did a tournament Monday, yes, just past Monday, one third place.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_00]: Nice So there all your pickleball listeners are going yeah, and we're all black by the way Probably a little too warm anyway folks.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: That's gonna do it for this episode We will see you again next week and until then save us some popcorn save us some cheesy popcorn
