Transcript
- 0:03Speaker 1: This is a podcast called twenty five whist talking basketball,
- 0:08Speaker 1: and they all wear a whist so, yeah, it's too bad,
- 0:11Speaker 1: But what did you expect.
- 0:13Speaker 2: It's a podcast called twenty five Whistles.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Twenty wine, thank you.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Let's go. Twenty five Whistles presented by DraftKings used the
- 0:24Speaker 3: promo code Bobby Sports when downloading the DraftKings sportsbook app.
- 0:27Speaker 3: Stay tuned, you'll hear more about Draft Kings and all
- 0:30Speaker 3: it has to offer throughout the show DraftKings. The crown
- 0:33Speaker 3: is yours. We got a good one. We're gonna talk
- 0:37Speaker 3: some college basketball for sure. We're gonna talk to Paul McDonald, which,
- 0:42Speaker 3: if the name doesn't ring a belt. Initially, it's just
- 0:45Speaker 3: the fact that this dude won a national championship at
- 0:47Speaker 3: USC is a quarterback. The fact this dude is all American,
- 0:50Speaker 3: the fact that this dude was drafted. And this is
- 0:52Speaker 3: like the seventies eighties. I forget that everybody couldn't watch
- 0:57Speaker 3: all the NFL games then. Yeah, and he was like
- 1:00Speaker 3: King Dingling at USC and he's like, I'm drafted by Cleveland. Interesting.
- 1:04Speaker 3: I don't even know. I don't know much about the
- 1:06Speaker 3: Browns because TV was very regional and this was like
- 1:09Speaker 3: the national game. It's so that's so interesting to me.
- 1:13Speaker 3: So Paul McDonald is joining us. We also talk about
- 1:16Speaker 3: some of the stuff too, like what's happening in USC now.
- 1:19Speaker 3: But that's fun. Good get Kevin, Yeah, yeah, that's all.
- 1:22Speaker 3: I mean, most of the guest gets in case somebody
- 1:25Speaker 3: knows they're Kevin. But this one, I was like, I
- 1:28Speaker 3: don't know if that'll be interesting, and Kevin's like, just
- 1:30Speaker 3: trust me on this one, and it was. It was
- 1:32Speaker 3: awesome good. He was the first left handed quarterback ever
- 1:34Speaker 3: for the Cowboys.
- 1:35Speaker 4: Yep, and I don't know if they've had one since
- 1:39Speaker 4: it was Quincy.
- 1:41Speaker 3: He left hand. Maybe he wasn't left hand. Maybe he
- 1:43Speaker 3: was just so bad he seemed like he should have
- 1:44Speaker 3: been left handed?
- 1:46Speaker 1: Were bad times? Were those?
- 1:48Speaker 3: We probably good times? He's good Georgia, I remember being
- 1:50Speaker 3: awesome at Georgia. He probably wasn't left hand. I don't
- 1:53Speaker 3: know why I thought that though, but yeah, we yeah that.
- 1:55Speaker 3: And then there's a.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Kellen Moore, Keen Kellen Moore, Hey, bad times?
- 2:01Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I forgot who played for them?
- 2:02Speaker 1: Me too?
- 2:03Speaker 3: Me too? And when you said that first, I went, no, no,
- 2:07Speaker 3: not offensive coordinator, left handed, yeah, corner, but he was
- 2:12Speaker 3: also awesome in college but super system. But I mean,
- 2:17Speaker 3: here's legit boys, stay right. Oh yeah beat Oklahoma. Yeah
- 2:19Speaker 3: said all kinds of records there. Yeah. So the other
- 2:23Speaker 3: thing is, there's a little bit of a half. The
- 2:25Speaker 3: controversy wasn't made by anyone but me about a jersey
- 2:28Speaker 3: that I was given as a gift, but then I
- 2:30Speaker 3: found out I was stolen. Hilarious, and I don't know
- 2:33Speaker 3: what to do. So that's happening too. All that on
- 2:37Speaker 3: the way, but now I'm talking like Seinfeld. It's also time.
- 2:41Speaker 3: What's to do with a tittle title? His name?
- 2:46Speaker 6: Ever?
- 2:47Speaker 3: The tittle Tattle?
- 2:52Speaker 7: After beating LSU and the Elite Eight, does Caitlyn Clark
- 2:56Speaker 7: need to win a title to become the best female
- 2:58Speaker 7: basketball player ever?
- 3:00Speaker 3: I've seen this conversation happen on Twitter and people are
- 3:03Speaker 3: pretty adamant on both sides. I feel like this is
- 3:06Speaker 3: not to you. I know you're just get You're setting
- 3:08Speaker 3: me up to give an opinion. I feel like that's
- 3:10Speaker 3: the dumbest question in the history of questions ever.
- 3:15Speaker 1: No offense, Kevin, I know, no.
- 3:17Speaker 3: That's why I wanted to say that. But you're just
- 3:20Speaker 3: setting me up to talk about it more than you
- 3:21Speaker 3: really have this Ques, I'm just gonna leave guys. No, So, Kevin,
- 3:26Speaker 3: what do you think? Kevin?
- 3:28Speaker 7: In my opinion, she's already the greatest I've ever seen. Yeah,
- 3:31Speaker 7: I've never been into women's basketball college basketball. I mean,
- 3:35Speaker 7: Diana Tarossi was awesome and Maya Moore was great, but
- 3:40Speaker 7: she's a whole another level.
- 3:41Speaker 1: It was the Oregon girl.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Yeah, she's played Steph in the three point shoot she
- 3:46Speaker 3: was great too. I mean, she was the original holy
- 3:48Speaker 3: crap shooter yea before Kaitlyn Clark. This is why I'm
- 3:51Speaker 3: going to say, yes, I got I got a couple
- 3:53Speaker 3: of reasons so we can. We can do stats. First
- 3:54Speaker 3: of all, Right, as far as the stats of shooting
- 4:00Speaker 3: most from the logo, she's number one. I just made
- 4:01Speaker 3: that stat up. But she has to be, has to
- 4:03Speaker 3: be on the stats of me appointment watching women's college
- 4:06Speaker 3: basketball and not Arkansas number one, number one. Those stats
- 4:09Speaker 3: alone put her there. Ratings NCAA women's record with twelve
- 4:13Speaker 3: point three million views on Monday night versus LSU. Not
- 4:16Speaker 3: on the network either way, it was on the ESPN, right,
- 4:19Speaker 3: wasn't on It wasn't on a traditional Big four network,
- 4:24Speaker 3: crazy like ab this. She has pierced popular culture in
- 4:30Speaker 3: a way that no other women's basketball player has to her.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Even if you haven't watched her, you know the name.
- 4:36Speaker 3: There have been other amazing basketball Maya Moore, I mean,
- 4:40Speaker 3: Cheryl Swoops even who There are a lot you could
- 4:46Speaker 3: say if you were going to put them one on one,
- 4:48Speaker 3: or who really was the best? I think Caitlin Clark
- 4:52Speaker 3: is overall the best ever because of what she's been
- 4:55Speaker 3: able to bring to the sport. If I'm matching skill sets,
- 4:58Speaker 3: that's tough for me because they didn't play against the
- 5:00Speaker 3: each other. It's like going Michael Jordan versus Wilt Chamberlain
- 5:04Speaker 3: versus they didn't play against so that we just go
- 5:06Speaker 3: Michael Jordan. He's won championships, he or he's although I
- 5:09Speaker 3: think Lebron's best ever. Honestly, to be that big and
- 5:12Speaker 3: do that much, I digress. Here's my Caitlin Clark thing.
- 5:17Speaker 3: You can't penalize her for not winning a championship because
- 5:20Speaker 3: it's not all even in college sports. It's not like
- 5:23Speaker 3: an NBA where there's a salary cap, where she's playing
- 5:27Speaker 3: with what's around her. That school also I was not
- 5:29Speaker 3: a basketball powerhouse. She has made I what basketball powerhouse.
- 5:35Speaker 3: She's the best ever, She's the biggest ever. She may
- 5:38Speaker 3: not be the most skilled. I think she's the most
- 5:40Speaker 3: skilled Chelder I've ever seen him a whole life. Yeah,
- 5:42Speaker 3: lights out and I'm just trying to avoid the well
- 5:46Speaker 3: this Rebecca Lobo could dunk. I do think Caitlin Clark
- 5:50Speaker 3: is the best ever, But I and I don't think
- 5:52Speaker 3: a championship defines her. If it were a Pro Bowl
- 5:54Speaker 3: and she had more than four years, don't want to
- 5:57Speaker 3: add in COVID year into this. If it were more,
- 5:59Speaker 3: if it were like she could do twelve or thirteen years,
- 6:02Speaker 3: I would then say she needs a championship to some
- 6:04Speaker 3: people to really be the best ever. But she literally
- 6:07Speaker 3: has such a small spot to be able to do
- 6:09Speaker 3: it that, No, it doesn't matter in college because you
- 6:14Speaker 3: could go best college players ever, I don't think that
- 6:16Speaker 3: they've like look at Kevin drant didn't play the long
- 6:19Speaker 3: but he was awesome at Texas. They didn't win, They
- 6:20Speaker 3: lost to Syracuse.
- 6:22Speaker 5: Derek Rose pops in my head.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Memphis. He missed free throws like crazy. Memphis missed all
- 6:26Speaker 3: those free throws that he was so good, but they
- 6:32Speaker 3: just cant shoot free throws. That's not his fault.
- 6:34Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe little he missed, but in Mario Chalmers who three.
- 6:38Speaker 3: That's true too. Yeah, but if they'd have made the
- 6:40Speaker 3: free throws exactly. My point here is college is such
- 6:44Speaker 3: a smaller scale. It's not fair to judge the greatest
- 6:47Speaker 3: of all time on championships of college because there's only
- 6:50Speaker 3: four years and a lot of times in year one,
- 6:52Speaker 3: maybe they don't even play. She's the best ever. It's
- 6:56Speaker 3: the dumbest question I've heard in my life. Not your
- 6:58Speaker 3: fault though, no offense offense You agree with me, Eddie.
- 7:01Speaker 3: What do you think?
- 7:01Speaker 4: By the way, Well, it's hard because like you look
- 7:04Speaker 4: at like do you think it Barry Sanders, you know,
- 7:07Speaker 4: like he was one of the greatest running backs ever,
- 7:09Speaker 4: but he never won, got close to winning anything.
- 7:11Speaker 1: So we don't put him at that.
- 7:13Speaker 3: And the question shouldn't even been issue. The greatest ever
- 7:15Speaker 3: he was. Your question was should she have to win
- 7:17Speaker 3: a title to be considered it? Yes, So the answer
- 7:21Speaker 3: is no, she shouldn't have to win a title. She
- 7:23Speaker 3: should be considered in that conversation regardless of title. As
- 7:26Speaker 3: I say, you can pick other people, but it shouldn't
- 7:28Speaker 3: be because she doesn't have a title that she loses.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Barry Sanders, Dan Reno, right, Charles Barklay right, amazing but
- 7:39Speaker 3: never won a title.
- 7:40Speaker 4: But if Tom Brady never won a super Bowl, we
- 7:43Speaker 4: would never put him as the goat.
- 7:44Speaker 3: We wouldn't in football because he had a much larger
- 7:48Speaker 3: area to dance.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Yeah, so I haven't said all that.
- 7:51Speaker 4: No, she's she's awesome, and I think everyone acknowledges that
- 7:54Speaker 4: she's awesome.
- 7:55Speaker 3: She needs to win a title to be considered the
- 7:57Speaker 3: greatest ever. No, I say no to. Also, I don't
- 8:01Speaker 3: think Charles Barkley's the greatest ever, but you can still
- 8:03Speaker 3: be considered amazing without a title. He wasn't the greatest ever,
- 8:06Speaker 3: but he's still top thirty five ever, never won a.
- 8:10Speaker 4: Title, but everyone you say, who is the greatest ever?
- 8:13Speaker 4: Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Michael Jordan all won titles, but
- 8:16Speaker 4: they also had a lot of time to do it,
- 8:18Speaker 4: and they had a lot of time.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Caitlyn's in college four years. Yeah, all right, next up?
- 8:22Speaker 5: All right, hopefully a better question here?
- 8:24Speaker 7: Oh that was Kevin's You were good dude with both
- 8:28Speaker 7: one seeds being heavy favorites this weekend.
- 8:30Speaker 5: Which underdog do you think has a better chance to cover?
- 8:32Speaker 1: Oh?
- 8:32Speaker 3: You know it, I just looked. Yukon is eleven and
- 8:34Speaker 3: a half point favorite over Alabama Produce a nine point
- 8:37Speaker 3: favorite over n C State. Yukon was having the plane
- 8:41Speaker 3: trouble where they were waiting under the plane to pick
- 8:43Speaker 3: them up and the they didn't have a plane. First
- 8:44Speaker 3: plane broke, could play couln't get there. They got get to Arizona.
- 8:46Speaker 3: It was like one thirty in the morning, still couldn't lead.
- 8:48Speaker 7: You see it all, yeah, yeah, not the details of it,
- 8:50Speaker 7: but I did see they got delayed.
- 8:51Speaker 3: I only saw because we were having our show and
- 8:53Speaker 3: I got home and they were still like playing issues
- 8:56Speaker 3: that was reading about they could affect, probably not.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Throat them off.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Something's gonna have to throw them off. Now we're talking
- 9:04Speaker 3: about covering here, we're not talking about winning.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Yes, you know who it is.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Purdue at any point could lose. I think Purdue will win,
- 9:11Speaker 3: but Purdue until Purdue is not Purdue, They're still Purdue.
- 9:15Speaker 3: And I think they have to get to the championship game.
- 9:17Speaker 3: For me, they don't have to win the whole title
- 9:18Speaker 3: to not be Purdue anymore. But if they get to
- 9:20Speaker 3: the championship game, I feel like they've dropped some Purduas
- 9:24Speaker 3: and you don't want to have Purdunance on you. You
- 9:26Speaker 3: don't even want the nest to be named after you
- 9:28Speaker 3: because it was Virginians for all right. I think Alabama
- 9:33Speaker 3: has a better chance to cover versus Yukon because I
- 9:36Speaker 3: think Alabama, if they shoot, if they they are so
- 9:40Speaker 3: so dynamic, that's their thing. If they shoot a forty
- 9:46Speaker 3: percent from three, if they can do that, that's trouble.
- 9:50Speaker 1: But you know how that goes.
- 9:51Speaker 3: They also can shoot twenty two percent and there it's
- 9:53Speaker 3: a disaster. But I think Alabama can actually win that game.
- 9:57Speaker 3: I don't think they will, but I think they can
- 10:00Speaker 3: everything goes just right. I think North Carolina State's gonna
- 10:02Speaker 3: have to have everything go right and produce is can
- 10:04Speaker 3: have everything go wrong?
- 10:05Speaker 1: Oh really yeah.
- 10:05Speaker 3: I think Yukon can play well and still get beat
- 10:08Speaker 3: if everything goes right with Alabama, because they have the
- 10:10Speaker 3: athletes and they have the coach. But I think in
- 10:16Speaker 3: the Purdue game, every it's just a different animal. Anc
- 10:22Speaker 3: State's got to have both things go wrong. I think
- 10:24Speaker 3: had Adue go wrong and they got to go right
- 10:26Speaker 3: Ancy State. They had such a good run they met
- 10:28Speaker 3: the final four. It's awesome.
- 10:30Speaker 4: I don't think zach Edy has seen a challenge like
- 10:32Speaker 4: he's going to see with DJ version.
- 10:34Speaker 3: You only say that because he's kind of fast. Yeah,
- 10:36Speaker 3: let's get him. He's also large tall, but he's also
- 10:42Speaker 3: like large.
- 10:42Speaker 1: You got height versus body.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Zakidi has body too, He just happens to be taller
- 10:47Speaker 3: with the body so it doesn't look as wide.
- 10:49Speaker 5: If it was like bull bullye, I'd get it well.
- 10:51Speaker 3: And the way difference you may look it up. I'm
- 10:53Speaker 3: sure the DJ is weighed a few more pounds still
- 10:57Speaker 3: because but he's six nine and he's got six inches
- 11:00Speaker 3: on him. But have you seen his moves in the paint? Oh,
- 11:02Speaker 3: it's touch, It's like light. It's like light.
- 11:06Speaker 1: It's beautiful. Do something nothing but net with a hook.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Well, don't say nothing but net, because that's stupid. Its bigger,
- 11:11Speaker 3: nothing but the more, nothing but that. It feels like
- 11:14Speaker 3: when you go give me my change and goes he
- 11:16Speaker 3: stops saying give me my change at the why because
- 11:18Speaker 3: nobody says that anymore. That give me my change.
- 11:20Speaker 1: When I make my three give my change, Give my change.
- 11:23Speaker 3: You didn't make me, and here's the deal.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Here's the deal.
- 11:24Speaker 4: My kids are starting to say it too now. I'm like,
- 11:26Speaker 4: I don't say that. Give me the change.
- 11:29Speaker 3: It's such an old school funny thing.
- 11:31Speaker 5: Is twenty five pounds heavier?
- 11:33Speaker 1: Okay? But but do.
- 11:35Speaker 3: You know here what we're saying. He's got a bigger body.
- 11:37Speaker 1: It doesn't matter. A bully is a bully.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Okay, So you bully a little bit. You're changing, Okay,
- 11:43Speaker 3: i'd say, is a bully that's gonna be interesting.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Ei is a big giant that, like I can book.
- 11:49Speaker 8: You know.
- 11:52Speaker 3: You're being stupid. It's funny. I would say. Eadie's game
- 11:57Speaker 3: has developed so much it has any year.
- 12:00Speaker 1: He's got a lot better.
- 12:01Speaker 3: That we mostly are mad at Edie. I'm not I
- 12:04Speaker 3: bet on him, mad at d because he's fouling too
- 12:07Speaker 3: much and not getting called or the opposite fowls get
- 12:10Speaker 3: called on the person against Edie all the time, unfairly.
- 12:14Speaker 3: I understand the point, but at some point the refs
- 12:18Speaker 3: can't call foul every time, and at some point the
- 12:21Speaker 3: refs have to call foul sometimes. It's almost like in football,
- 12:26Speaker 3: we've had coaches on go Okay, pass interference, We're gonna
- 12:29Speaker 3: do it every time because eventually the rest can't call
- 12:31Speaker 3: it like off the line, so more like illegal contact
- 12:34Speaker 3: off the line Tyreek Hill. Every time, you hold him
- 12:38Speaker 3: until he gets that because the rest aren't going to
- 12:39Speaker 3: call it every time. Eventually there's gonna be a point
- 12:41Speaker 3: where they can't and it'll give us a bit of time.
- 12:44Speaker 3: You can try that with Edie, and Edie can try that,
- 12:47Speaker 3: but eventually Edie's just gonna get to be Edie. And
- 12:50Speaker 3: he's seven foot three or four. He's also developed a touch.
- 12:52Speaker 3: He's pretty lovely, he's pretty lovely playing.
- 12:55Speaker 4: And he's learned to keep the ball above his shoulders
- 12:57Speaker 4: and once he does that, nobody can get it.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Nobody can even get closer to it.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Anyway. I think Alabama has a better shot to cover
- 13:03Speaker 3: because I think they can actually win. Okay, I think
- 13:07Speaker 3: I don't think they will, but I think I think.
- 13:10Speaker 3: I think it's all the money that you put on
- 13:11Speaker 3: Purdue speaking right now, I know, oh, I don't care
- 13:14Speaker 3: about that because it doesn't affect that game.
- 13:17Speaker 1: The money.
- 13:17Speaker 3: I'm saying Alabama can win if Purdue plays pretty good,
- 13:20Speaker 3: because if Alabama plays exactly right, they can beat Yukon.
- 13:24Speaker 3: NC State needs to play great and for Purdue to
- 13:26Speaker 3: play terrible. But I'm done. All the numbers and weights
- 13:30Speaker 3: are messing up.
- 13:31Speaker 5: Wait, okay, let's go to the NBA here.
- 13:33Speaker 7: After returning from injury this week, do you think the
- 13:35Speaker 7: Sixers can make a legit run if mbat is healthy
- 13:39Speaker 7: in the East.
- 13:39Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 13:40Speaker 3: The best thing about the Sixers whenever it comes to,
- 13:43Speaker 3: you know, making the run, being in the playoffs, is
- 13:45Speaker 3: that they don't have James Harden. Harden sucks in the playoffs.
- 13:49Speaker 3: I think Harden is done playing, like his contract says
- 13:52Speaker 3: it's over. And I mean he's notoricuely terrible in the
- 13:54Speaker 3: playoffs and he's awesome. He's actually playing. Hart has been
- 13:58Speaker 3: great with his change of scenery like that whole. I mean,
- 14:02Speaker 3: the Clippers for the most part have been really good,
- 14:06Speaker 3: and I think they're gonna make a pretty good plaoff
- 14:07Speaker 3: roim because Harden has people on that team who can
- 14:09Speaker 3: tell him to shut up. He does it. He's not
- 14:11Speaker 3: the alpha alpha there. He can be one of the
- 14:13Speaker 3: alphas and he can throw a fit. How much fit
- 14:16Speaker 3: are you gonna throw? Whenever you look around at your
- 14:18Speaker 3: other teammates First of all, you got Russ coming off
- 14:20Speaker 3: the bench. And I know this question about the Sixers,
- 14:23Speaker 3: but it makes me think of Harden. You got Russ
- 14:25Speaker 3: coming off the bench. Kawhi is just somebody I wouldn't want
- 14:28Speaker 3: to mess with and anyway whatsoever. I feel like Kawhi
- 14:32Speaker 3: gonna sad that to you, but you go, he's gonna
- 14:35Speaker 3: hurt you and then he'll go. Like I was watching
- 14:41Speaker 3: some old YouTube videos of Kawhi Garden Lebron in that championship.
- 14:45Speaker 3: I don't know what year it was.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Earlier.
- 14:49Speaker 3: Yeah, he he gloved Lebron. It's wild to see how
- 14:56Speaker 3: good he was. I think they don't have Harden, so
- 15:00Speaker 3: they're not gonna depend on that. I think if Mbi
- 15:02Speaker 3: is healthy, mbiad is amazing. But he missed eight weeks
- 15:07Speaker 3: and like, and it's also a knee. I'm not an
- 15:10Speaker 3: athlete like that. I know I sprained my toe the
- 15:12Speaker 3: other day and doesn't hurt anymore, but I still worry
- 15:14Speaker 3: about it. Imagine if I eight weeks with a knee
- 15:18Speaker 3: procedure too. Like that's that that is, that's significant. He
- 15:24Speaker 3: did play his first game, what had twenty four points,
- 15:26Speaker 3: six rebound, seven assists, but he didn't. He didn't he
- 15:28Speaker 3: didn't play the whole as many minutes as he would obviously.
- 15:31Speaker 3: But I do think they can make a run. But
- 15:33Speaker 3: I do think Boston is MB to the Sixers, or
- 15:39Speaker 3: is Porzingis to Boston Porzingis if healthy, I think they
- 15:44Speaker 3: win all the East and maybe at all EMBIID. I
- 15:47Speaker 3: think they have a shot to win the East, but
- 15:50Speaker 3: Boston's gonna be tough, and that's your team. I know
- 15:53Speaker 3: they're they're gonna be tough because they have it. They
- 15:56Speaker 3: have it all, they have scores, they have one of
- 16:01Speaker 3: the best on ball defensive players in the league period.
- 16:06Speaker 3: If Porzingis is on, he's just a hard matchup because
- 16:08Speaker 3: he is so big and he can play the five
- 16:12Speaker 3: effectively but can also and a lot of the big
- 16:15Speaker 3: guys can shoot now. But there's just something weird about
- 16:16Speaker 3: Porzingis's ability to play, like all three levels really hard
- 16:20Speaker 3: to guard. It's like Gardnetty because he keeps yelling I
- 16:22Speaker 3: want my change. You know, I don't like Garden you It' annoying.
- 16:23Speaker 1: He throws you off a little bit.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Yes, they can make a run. I don't think they
- 16:26Speaker 3: win the East, even with EMBIID, But I think they could.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Probably they could make the Eastern Finals, depending on the seating.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Is awesome too, man, Absolutely, Yeah, we're not saying he's not.
- 16:37Speaker 3: I'm saying the greatest addition to Philly is the subtraction
- 16:43Speaker 3: of James Harden m Yeah, full circle and as long
- 16:46Speaker 3: as Embiid is there. Maxie's a dog.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, he's awesome.
- 16:51Speaker 3: MAXI to me is like Brunson and New York, like
- 16:54Speaker 3: you needed the right environment and the right people to
- 16:56Speaker 3: believe that if you can have the ball enough or
- 16:58Speaker 3: you can be the star, you can be a star.
- 17:01Speaker 3: And Max he's been able to do that. It's because
- 17:03Speaker 3: Max he has become a freaking star. Yeah, Bronson is Dowes.
- 17:07Speaker 1: He carries the Knicks trade.
- 17:09Speaker 3: He's a superstar and he wasn't gonna be that in
- 17:11Speaker 3: Dallas and they basically traded him for like a low
- 17:13Speaker 3: bread So that's what's up. Yes, they can make a run.
- 17:16Speaker 3: I don't think they can win the East though. Go ahead,
- 17:18Speaker 3: all right, it's go to the NFL here for the
- 17:19Speaker 3: last one. After trading Stefan Diggs this week, where do
- 17:22Speaker 3: you rank the Texans in the AFC next year?
- 17:25Speaker 1: Stacking out crazy?
- 17:26Speaker 3: The fact they have, they have mixing in the backfield.
- 17:30Speaker 3: You also gotta remember Tank Dell C. J. Stroud, who yeah,
- 17:34Speaker 3: with nobody had a great year. The only thing that
- 17:37Speaker 3: scares me is that, again he was a rookie and
- 17:39Speaker 3: he did play really well. We kept waiting for him
- 17:40Speaker 3: to fail. He never did.
- 17:41Speaker 1: He was never did.
- 17:42Speaker 3: But again, there's not that huge sample size to go Okay,
- 17:47Speaker 3: can he can do this multiple years in a row
- 17:48Speaker 3: once there's been a bunch of tape on him, once
- 17:50Speaker 3: people start to really scheme what he's been strong at.
- 17:53Speaker 8: Uh.
- 17:53Speaker 3: I do think is gonna be really good again, especially
- 17:56Speaker 3: with the weapons. The problem I guess I have with
- 17:58Speaker 3: Digs he just seems like he's difficult. Same thing with Harden.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Like when Diggs was with the Vikings, wasn't the most
- 18:07Speaker 3: loved dude.
- 18:08Speaker 4: You think he's toxic? Oh yeah, really big time.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Josh Allen probably don't confetti ever, Like, what what's Josh
- 18:17Speaker 3: Allen gonna do?
- 18:17Speaker 8: Now?
- 18:18Speaker 3: Be happy? So Diggs is an awesome receiver. I do
- 18:24Speaker 3: think the Texans are strong. They're young defensively and but young,
- 18:30Speaker 3: but like awesome at the same time. Their draft last year,
- 18:33Speaker 3: you know, with two top seven picks Wills Alabama. He's
- 18:41Speaker 3: started to really be a stud at the back end
- 18:44Speaker 3: of last year, a little earlier than even expected. I
- 18:47Speaker 3: think that it's let me rank them. AFC Chiefs are one,
- 18:56Speaker 3: Chiefs lost Tyreek, Will Mahomes be good. Yes, I'm gonna
- 19:00Speaker 3: go Buffalo. They'll do something. They'll supplement the receiving a bit.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Maybe in the draft. There's some good receivers.
- 19:06Speaker 5: The lost Davis too.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I wasn't a Gabe Davis guy. I felt like,
- 19:10Speaker 3: I'm gonna tell you why, because I had him in
- 19:12Speaker 3: fantasy and he just was existent. I mean it's not
- 19:16Speaker 3: in any way.
- 19:16Speaker 5: Well in the playoffs is when he was the only
- 19:18Speaker 5: time he would show up.
- 19:19Speaker 3: But he don't get points of fantasy for playoffs, true
- 19:21Speaker 3: fantasy playoffs. He didn't. There's the real playoffs. Yeah, I'm
- 19:25Speaker 3: still gonna go Chiefs, Bengals. T Higgins.
- 19:32Speaker 5: I even about T Higgins really good.
- 19:35Speaker 8: Huh.
- 19:35Speaker 7: It's hard to say if he's a number one, because
- 19:37Speaker 7: he can't be a number one with Jamar Chase obviously,
- 19:40Speaker 7: and even Boyd is good.
- 19:42Speaker 5: I mean, if he goes.
- 19:42Speaker 7: To the Patriots or the Bills, he'll for sure be
- 19:44Speaker 7: a number one, and we take them all day, for sure,
- 19:46Speaker 7: but number number one like top five, No.
- 19:50Speaker 3: I agree, really good too. He's really good too. Yeah,
- 19:56Speaker 3: and that if Burrow stays healthy, I'm gonna go. Everybody's
- 19:59Speaker 3: healthy in my mind, just Chiefs, Bengals, Bills.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Now I'm gonna go Texans.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Wow, where's Baltimore in here?
- 20:12Speaker 3: Next?
- 20:13Speaker 1: Where the Dolphins? After all that they've lost a lot.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Then it starts to yeah, I mean then the Chargers.
- 20:19Speaker 1: I got think about Chargers.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Because Harball's there and they're going to actually run the
- 20:25Speaker 3: ball a lot. It's gonna actually make Herbert not have
- 20:27Speaker 3: to carry the whole team, and he might actually be
- 20:28Speaker 3: as good as everybody thinks. He will be as good
- 20:30Speaker 3: as he is. And Harball's won everywhere. The Cowboys over there,
- 20:33Speaker 3: and they got rid of Eckler, and I think it's
- 20:34Speaker 3: probably a good move based on how Harball wants to
- 20:36Speaker 3: run an offense. Harball doesn't throw. It's not Eckler all
- 20:39Speaker 3: day throwing, you know, swing routes.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Chargers.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Then you get to that second tier. Let's just do
- 20:45Speaker 3: tiers then first tier Chiefs, Bengals, Bills, Boom. Second tier.
- 20:50Speaker 3: I'm putting the Texas at the top of the second
- 20:51Speaker 3: tier with the Ravens and the Chargers and the Dolphins.
- 20:58Speaker 3: No Browns not. Yeah, I just I don't believe in.
- 21:01Speaker 3: I don't believe Sean Watson top of the third tier Steelers, Browns.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Steelers can move up for sure, and I think they'll
- 21:11Speaker 3: I'll have much better quarterback play obviously. What'd you say?
- 21:16Speaker 1: Ride them's?
- 21:18Speaker 3: That's right, let's right?
- 21:19Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, what's he going to say with the Steelers?
- 21:21Speaker 1: Ride me still, steal me, still steal my heart. Let's
- 21:24Speaker 1: steal still.
- 21:26Speaker 3: Let's still sometimes. But I do think he can really
- 21:29Speaker 3: be good. M Yeah, he's got he's He's probably eighty
- 21:33Speaker 3: one percent of what he was. That's enough over there
- 21:35Speaker 3: with the Steelers.
- 21:36Speaker 5: But Russ right, not yeah, not Digs ok at Russ.
- 21:39Speaker 3: Oh yeah, with Diggs. I was just always just ranking
- 21:41Speaker 3: the teams. Once the Eggs is on the Texans, gotcha?
- 21:43Speaker 3: All right? That wasn't the stupidest question ever? Has a
- 21:45Speaker 3: good one?
- 21:45Speaker 1: Good job made it?
- 21:48Speaker 3: All right? That's till tttle his name. The title Tattle
- 21:57Speaker 3: twenty five Whistles presented by Draft Kings sports Book and
- 21:59Speaker 3: of official sports betting partner of the NFL. Download the
- 22:03Speaker 3: DraftKings app used to code Bobby Sports to get in
- 22:05Speaker 3: on the action. Uh, Final four, I'm gonna hit you
- 22:08Speaker 3: with this. Alabama covers So Alabama Alabama plus eleven and
- 22:13Speaker 3: a half. I don't think they win. You heard me earlier.
- 22:17Speaker 3: I think they can. But then I got confusing.
- 22:20Speaker 4: Eleven would be the closest win for Connecticut this tournament.
- 22:24Speaker 3: I mean the last year two they and Arkansas had
- 22:27Speaker 3: to play them. I had to go watch them lot
- 22:28Speaker 3: Arkansas Killama or Yukon in Vegas. Yeah, me the wife
- 22:33Speaker 3: Ben Rector and his wife went, We're like, let's go,
- 22:36Speaker 3: We're goetta. Oh god, three minutes of the game is over.
- 22:38Speaker 3: It's over.
- 22:39Speaker 1: That's terrible.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Yeah, We're like, we just wasted all this money and
- 22:42Speaker 3: time to come out here. But Yukon ended up winning
- 22:44Speaker 3: the whole thing. So I'm gonna go Ala Biama plus
- 22:47Speaker 3: eleven and a half. I'm gonna go Purdue minus nine.
- 22:52Speaker 3: And that's a lot of points to give up. I
- 22:54Speaker 3: get it. I believe maybe biased, but I but I
- 23:00Speaker 3: bought But I wasn't biased. I created that bias because
- 23:03Speaker 3: I thought they would win. Does that make sense?
- 23:05Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 23:05Speaker 3: I wait, I bid the money to buy Purdue. I
- 23:10Speaker 3: have to pick three, don't I? Because I'm looking about
- 23:12Speaker 3: the over unders? Do I have to pick three? Is
- 23:14Speaker 3: your over unders? Is you're under theory?
- 23:17Speaker 4: Though count like you have the under theory that it's
- 23:19Speaker 4: all going to be under because they're nervous when the
- 23:21Speaker 4: tournament starts. Now, where are you at with the final four?
- 23:24Speaker 4: I would think the nerves are even more of the
- 23:25Speaker 4: final four for Yukon.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Yeah, you can just chill. They just roll up. They
- 23:30Speaker 3: roll up in jeans, we.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Play, We're playing what court?
- 23:35Speaker 3: They put a quarter down like we're next in jeans.
- 23:39Speaker 3: I'm gonna go the under on the Alabama Yukon game
- 23:42Speaker 3: only because if Alabama isn't shooting at a decent percentage,
- 23:45Speaker 3: they're gonna still shoot and they're gonna score alll that's tough.
- 23:52Speaker 3: And I don't know, I'm aboundand I have no clue
- 23:53Speaker 3: on the I suck it over unders. It feels so tough.
- 23:57Speaker 3: I'm gonna go under on the Alabama Yukon.
- 23:59Speaker 5: Game one, sixteen and a half.
- 24:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't you know what I have the number.
- 24:04Speaker 3: I didn't even know what it was, was going under. Yeah,
- 24:06Speaker 3: if you want to take the twenty five whistles Parlay.
- 24:08Speaker 3: Check out Draftking sportsbook. New users used to cod to

- 24:20Speaker 3: wire text hope and wy four six seven three six ' nine.
- 24:26Speaker 3: I could feel guilty or I could not. This is
- 24:29Speaker 3: a Jersey controversy that happened with me and a gift
- 24:31Speaker 3: that was given to me that was stolen. Here here
- 24:34Speaker 3: is this segment. All right, we're in studio now with
- 24:37Speaker 3: one of my friends and he's one of the guys
- 24:39Speaker 3: that owns Super Coffee. And this is even a commercial
- 24:42Speaker 3: or Super Coffee, but that's how I know him. And
- 24:44Speaker 3: you came to our million dollars show and you gave
- 24:46Speaker 3: me a gift, and still I feel guilty about the
- 24:48Speaker 3: gift because it was a sports gift. Jimmy, would you
- 24:51Speaker 3: say tell everybody the gift that you brought me to
- 24:53Speaker 3: the show?
- 24:54Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 24:54Speaker 9: So we uh, I brought you as signed Alan iverson Georgetown, Jersey,
- 24:59Speaker 9: you know.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Which is awesome now hold on, I want to tell
- 25:02Speaker 3: you why I feel guilty of it, because if it
- 25:04Speaker 3: were just that, like, that's really generous of you and
- 25:08Speaker 3: I that's awesome and that's like old school too. Yeah,
- 25:14Speaker 3: and it's but then he told me where he got it?
- 25:17Speaker 3: Where'd you get it?
- 25:19Speaker 9: My brother Jake played football at Georgetown. He's a big
- 25:21Speaker 9: AI fan, and I took.
- 25:23Speaker 3: It off the wall, and you know, he stole it
- 25:25Speaker 3: from his brother.
- 25:26Speaker 5: No, you did it?
- 25:27Speaker 3: Yeah, So like I feel like does he know yet?
- 25:30Speaker 9: He kind of knows, but he's supportive.
- 25:33Speaker 3: He's supportive of it is Bobby's birthday, but it's almost
- 25:36Speaker 3: like not super present tense when he says he's like,
- 25:39Speaker 3: he's supportive when he fully understands.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Where the how long has he had that jersey? I
- 25:44Speaker 1: know it's been ten years.
- 25:46Speaker 9: I think I think you put it on eBay and
- 25:50Speaker 9: we make him buy it back.
- 25:52Speaker 1: That's cool, that's the most.
- 25:55Speaker 3: That's so funny, Like that's hilarious until somebody scoops in
- 25:59Speaker 3: and pays more that it's gone. Yeah, because I love
- 26:03Speaker 3: but that I feel, I don't know, I'm torn how
- 26:06Speaker 3: I feel. It's so generous of you to think of
- 26:08Speaker 3: me like that. And that I'm very appreciative. But if
- 26:10Speaker 3: I were his brother and I came in and was like, where's.
- 26:13Speaker 1: My eye jersey, I'd be pissed.
- 26:14Speaker 3: Where's the bit? Where's the answer? Yeah, it's not the answer,
- 26:18Speaker 3: but nobody seems I know it was here. And you
- 26:23Speaker 3: look over and he's like, hey, man, he sees me.
- 26:25Speaker 3: There's a picture of me wearing it that looks a
- 26:28Speaker 3: lot like you should just replace it with a picture
- 26:31Speaker 3: of bones wearing How important was that jersey to him?
- 26:34Speaker 9: Be honest, I think ten years ago it was cool
- 26:37Speaker 9: sitting on the wall. It was a decoration. And I
- 26:40Speaker 9: think everything you're doing with your memorabilia, I hear you.
- 26:43Speaker 1: I don't think it works like that. It doesn't get
- 26:46Speaker 1: it's cool.
- 26:47Speaker 3: It's like Grandpa's ashes were cool ten years ago. You know,
- 26:50Speaker 3: they just don't meet as much anymore. Okay, I think
- 26:55Speaker 3: I need to ask somebody with a bit I'm not
- 26:58Speaker 3: going to say better perspective, but maybe be a fuller perspective.
- 27:02Speaker 3: So would you introduce whore sitting beside you? Yes, this
- 27:04Speaker 3: is my fiance Allison Allison. I feel like you'll keep
- 27:07Speaker 3: it real with the Alison, what do you think about this?
- 27:09Speaker 3: I am great, I'm it's so kind. But what do
- 27:14Speaker 3: you is anybody gonna be upset that I have this jersey?
- 27:18Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 27:18Speaker 10: I mean, I'm I'm a big sister too. Yeah, so
- 27:22Speaker 10: I understand the rivalry.
- 27:24Speaker 3: Yeah so I don't want to be part of it.
- 27:25Speaker 3: I don't want to be a pawn in the rivalry game.
- 27:28Speaker 3: I mean I kind of do that's fun. And the
- 27:30Speaker 3: bit of putting it on because I was I would
- 27:31Speaker 3: never I would have never sold it. I would have
- 27:34Speaker 3: that's awesome. But if the bit was, hey, put on,
- 27:36Speaker 3: make them buy it back and donate the money, that
- 27:38Speaker 3: would be freaking hilarious. But only if, like he really
- 27:43Speaker 3: wants it. What do you think I should do?
- 27:46Speaker 10: I mean, I've known Jake for three years. I've never
- 27:49Speaker 10: heard him talk about.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Okay okay, I heard him mention that interest.
- 27:55Speaker 10: So I don't know.
- 27:57Speaker 3: Can I keep the jersey with no guilt? Because if
- 27:59Speaker 3: you say, yeah, that's what I'm going to do and
- 28:01Speaker 3: I'm going to move past this in my life, yes,
- 28:03Speaker 3: no guilt, no gilt. You kind of squinted her eyes though,
- 28:05Speaker 3: you know it was definitely if I were playing poker
- 28:08Speaker 3: against her, I'd be like she definitely the gift was
- 28:10Speaker 3: for you.
- 28:11Speaker 10: If anyone's going to feel guilt, like Jimmy has to
- 28:13Speaker 10: deal with that, you know, but I like Jimmy.
- 28:16Speaker 3: I don't want you to feel guilt.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Okay, judges, Eddie, what am I judging on?
- 28:21Speaker 3: What I need? I mean, it's your gift. I get it,
- 28:23Speaker 3: and it's it's very kind.
- 28:25Speaker 4: I think it's it's all on Jimmy here, like really
- 28:27Speaker 4: like he's the one that took it off the wall.
- 28:28Speaker 4: He's the only decided, like I'm going to steal it
- 28:30Speaker 4: from my brother, give it to Bobby. It's yours now, dude,
- 28:33Speaker 4: keep that thing.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Kevin.
- 28:35Speaker 7: Yeah, I wasn't very convinced until she said that she's
- 28:38Speaker 7: never heard him talk about it in three years.
- 28:40Speaker 5: Okay, so it can't mean that much.
- 28:41Speaker 1: But there's stuff on my wall.
- 28:42Speaker 3: I don't talk about it.
- 28:43Speaker 1: But she said Alan Iverson, She's yeah, I've.
- 28:45Speaker 10: Heard him talk about a lot of basketball players. I've
- 28:48Speaker 10: heard him talk about sports. You know, it's gone and
- 28:51Speaker 10: I've never heard him mention Alan.
- 28:53Speaker 3: Can I call him and tell him we go? Will
- 28:56Speaker 3: you type his number on my phone and we'll have
- 29:01Speaker 3: and he may be super cool because he's like Oh,
- 29:04Speaker 3: because I know him.
- 29:05Speaker 1: I like him, see me? He does? Now, Like, what
- 29:08Speaker 1: do you mean, Like, when did he find out?
- 29:11Speaker 3: Maybe maybe.
- 29:16Speaker 8: He knows? Three?
- 29:18Speaker 1: Okay, he's upset.
- 29:22Speaker 3: But it went to boyemail so quick. He probably dropped
- 29:25Speaker 3: his phone in the bathtub trying to you know, because
- 29:28Speaker 3: he's sad as Jersey's gone. The phone in the bathtub
- 29:31Speaker 3: doesn't do anything. It's like a toaster, you know. Okay, Oh,
- 29:38Speaker 3: we got blocked. I'm gonna record video. This is a
- 29:43Speaker 3: good voicemail, like video voicemail. Hey, it's Bobby Bones here.
- 29:48Speaker 3: I wish you would have answered. I just have something
- 29:50Speaker 3: I needed to talk to you about. Yeah, it's very serious.
- 29:53Speaker 3: It's been on the heart of my mind. But you
- 29:55Speaker 3: you've blocked my call from my phone and now from
- 29:57Speaker 3: your brother, which makes me think we're both dead to you.
- 29:59Speaker 3: And I know why. I know why we're both dead
- 30:01Speaker 3: to you. If you could call one of us back,
- 30:04Speaker 3: that'd be awesome. I just need to talk to you.
- 30:08Speaker 3: Is that him calling? No, it's not.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Who is that someone else? Yeah?
- 30:11Speaker 3: Yeah, it's post alone.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Get that one.
- 30:14Speaker 3: Hopefully I'll talk to you soon. And this is pre preemptive.
- 30:19Speaker 3: I'm sorry, Okay, I'm gonna send save.
- 30:24Speaker 5: I don't even know you could do that.
- 30:26Speaker 3: It's the new okay that I'll let me push it
- 30:29Speaker 3: boom if he calls back, let me know. Okay. So
- 30:31Speaker 3: that's where I am, that's where we are, and but
- 30:37Speaker 3: it's not that the good causes my personal life the best.
- 30:40Speaker 5: Jimmy just doesn't care.
- 30:42Speaker 3: I'm not. I'm not selling it. I'm not unless you
- 30:46Speaker 3: were like, unless you were like donate, I would. But
- 30:49Speaker 3: it's like I was like, this is a nice gift.
- 30:51Speaker 3: I will keep it. Or did you mean for me
- 30:52Speaker 3: to sell it? Whatever you want to do, it's yours. See.
- 30:55Speaker 3: The only way I can think I could find some
- 30:56Speaker 3: solace is if I did put it on for charity. No,
- 30:59Speaker 3: I still I want it to sound. Now I'm getting selfick.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Now I'm getting selfish with it.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Jim is here, younger brother, middle brother. That's right.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm the modest so super coffee. How did you
- 31:07Speaker 3: it's three brothers, brothers. I know this. I'm not to
- 31:10Speaker 3: ask questions like I don't know. Yeah, but it's three brothers.
- 31:13Speaker 3: And how did you guys start doing coffee?
- 31:17Speaker 9: We all played sports in college and growing up, and
- 31:20Speaker 9: we didn't want to drink a Starbucks that had forty
- 31:22Speaker 9: five grams of sugar in it. So we just started
- 31:24Speaker 9: brewing our own coffee, you know, healthy coffee, zero sugar
- 31:27Speaker 9: with protein it We're kind of just like jocks in
- 31:29Speaker 9: a dorm room putting protein in our coffee and tasted good.
- 31:32Speaker 9: It gave us energy, and we started selling it to
- 31:34Speaker 9: our friends.
- 31:35Speaker 3: And now you sold you the coffee from your dorm room.
- 31:38Speaker 5: Oh yeah, nice.
- 31:39Speaker 3: We sold that to Whole Foods.
- 31:40Speaker 1: We from the dorm room.
- 31:41Speaker 9: We brewed it in a blender in the dorm room,
- 31:43Speaker 9: poured it into an honest tea bottle, and we went
- 31:45Speaker 9: to Whole Foods and we said, hey, we're super Coffee.
- 31:47Speaker 3: No way they had a permit for that. There's no
- 31:49Speaker 3: way that. That's hilarious. And so they were like they're like, well,
- 31:53Speaker 3: said you have a name, you must be legit. Yeah,
- 31:54Speaker 3: how did how did you sell it to Whole food
- 31:57Speaker 3: Did you just go and be like where we are there?
- 32:00Speaker 9: Store manager?
- 32:00Speaker 1: Here?
- 32:00Speaker 9: Can we talk to him? And there's a store right
- 32:02Speaker 9: on Georgetown's campus. And the guy was like, yeah, if
- 32:05Speaker 9: you can bring your friends into my store, I'll sell
- 32:07Speaker 9: your products. So that's how we That's how we got in,
- 32:10Speaker 9: give us an inch and we took a mile.
- 32:12Speaker 3: And how did it do well?
- 32:14Speaker 9: We made sure it did well, Like we stayed there
- 32:16Speaker 9: every day and poured samples.
- 32:17Speaker 1: And stock the shelf.
- 32:18Speaker 9: He gave us two little facings in the cooler and
- 32:20Speaker 9: by the end of the day we had we had
- 32:21Speaker 9: twenty facings.
- 32:22Speaker 8: Like we were very aggressive.
- 32:24Speaker 3: There are artists that I know that have made it big.
- 32:26Speaker 3: Whenever a record store back in like the two thousands
- 32:30Speaker 3: would be like, okay, we'll stop. We'll give your record
- 32:34Speaker 3: a little bit of space because you're doing okay locally,
- 32:38Speaker 3: but if it doesn't sell, we're not going to give
- 32:39Speaker 3: any space. And they would just have they just have
- 32:40Speaker 3: all the friends go buy it up back back, just
- 32:42Speaker 3: for that investment of they think it's working and even
- 32:46Speaker 3: if it's not, you can you can convince it to work,
- 32:49Speaker 3: that's right. Yeah, And then then the record guy started
- 32:51Speaker 3: to put more out than other people would just see
- 32:53Speaker 3: it and then start to buy it, and then it
- 32:54Speaker 3: became a thing. That's that's that's a really cool story.
- 32:57Speaker 4: How you got two Whole Foods though for not turning
- 32:59Speaker 4: you guys away. The manager, Yeah, that's not so, I'm
- 33:01Speaker 4: playing the guys works that works there.
- 33:03Speaker 9: Yeah, he's Derek Ruber, that guy without Derek Kruber, the
- 33:06Speaker 9: store manager at George Shown.
- 33:07Speaker 1: I don't think there would be super coffee.
- 33:09Speaker 3: What what sports did you guys play? Jake and I
- 33:12Speaker 3: played football, little brother Jordan played hoops. How about Jordan?
- 33:16Speaker 3: Does he like Allen Iverson? Because I now feel like
- 33:19Speaker 3: I took it from him too, like I might have
- 33:20Speaker 3: gotten passed down.
- 33:21Speaker 9: Yeah, he loved Alan like that was gonna be mom.
- 33:24Speaker 9: I know, shorts down to his ankles because of Ai.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Yeah, dang, Why Austin, why'd you guys end up in Austin?
- 33:32Speaker 1: Uh?
- 33:33Speaker 9: We were ready for a change. Twenty twenty. We were
- 33:34Speaker 9: living in New York City. City was shut down, Austin
- 33:37Speaker 9: was open. Whole Foods is based in Austin, ironically, and
- 33:40Speaker 9: Austin's an awesome, creative city, collaborated.
- 33:42Speaker 3: The greatest city. It's a great city. New York feels competitive, right,
- 33:44Speaker 3: It's like, what do you do for a living?
- 33:45Speaker 9: Everybody's trying to wine up each other. Austin's like, how
- 33:48Speaker 9: do we help you win?
- 33:49Speaker 3: Austin's like, how many trees are you playing today? Eleven?
- 33:51Speaker 1: You're in you're working today. Don't go to work today.
- 33:55Speaker 3: Yeah, just mental health, go walk the woods. It's my
- 33:57Speaker 3: favorite city. I'm biased. Our whole showcame is they're either
- 34:00Speaker 3: born in Austin, from Austin. We all met in Austin,
- 34:02Speaker 3: we all lived in Austin. The show was birthed in Austin.
- 34:05Speaker 3: That's my favorite city. Like, it's my favorite city and
- 34:07Speaker 3: I'm not from there, so I feel like I can
- 34:09Speaker 3: say that. And you're not from Austin either, from Montana.
- 34:15Speaker 1: That's cool.
- 34:16Speaker 3: It's like the Austin of the Tanna's.
- 34:18Speaker 4: I have a question about Montana, Like, can you just
- 34:21Speaker 4: go like drive five minutes and then the mic over
- 34:24Speaker 4: there and see like Buffalo's.
- 34:27Speaker 3: Yeah, if you I mean, if you're in near Yellowstone,
- 34:29Speaker 3: you're he.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Just means generally anywhere anywhere like your backyard.
- 34:33Speaker 10: No, not five minutes, but to you know, one two
- 34:36Speaker 10: hours and you're in the middle of nowhere.
- 34:38Speaker 3: Did you basically anywhere you are? Did you hate when
- 34:40Speaker 3: Yellowstone came out? Because everybody's like, is that like your house?
- 34:42Speaker 3: Is that you No? I mean I love it? Okay, good? Yeah,
- 34:45Speaker 3: because when I went we were shooting and breaking bobby
- 34:47Speaker 3: bones in Montana and it was when Yellowstone was like
- 34:49Speaker 3: season two really getting big, and when we had a
- 34:52Speaker 3: land in Bozeman, but then drive like three hours. There
- 34:54Speaker 3: was no cell service where we were for a few days.
- 34:56Speaker 3: But everybody was kind of annoyed then because it was
- 34:59Speaker 3: just just popping and they were just starting to go, wait,
- 35:02Speaker 3: this isn't us. But then then you kind of realize
- 35:04Speaker 3: it's kind of a cartoon version, which is right.
- 35:07Speaker 10: It's it's like it's it's all sort of a caricature,
- 35:10Speaker 10: yeah itself.
- 35:11Speaker 3: And people know that did you grow up a guns?
- 35:14Speaker 3: Did you personally? But yeah, yeah, so we I'm in
- 35:19Speaker 3: an Arkansas. We grew up all guns all the time? Breakfast?
- 35:23Speaker 3: What'd you shoot this morning? You know? It was that,
- 35:25Speaker 3: you know, growing up. Then I start to have different
- 35:27Speaker 3: ideas about guns and not you know, every knucklehead should
- 35:30Speaker 3: have one, but I understand them. And it's people that
- 35:32Speaker 3: come from rural areas that also can like see them
- 35:34Speaker 3: as a tool and not just what people who never
- 35:36Speaker 3: had one. Just I can see what people don't think
- 35:38Speaker 3: it's a bad like the only bad guys have guns.
- 35:41Speaker 3: But I just wondered if, like, since you lived in Montana,
- 35:43Speaker 3: it's probably pretty universal. Most people had a gun, and
- 35:45Speaker 3: it wasn't even like you got a gun. It's like, oh,
- 35:47Speaker 3: you got a jack for your car. It was almost
- 35:50Speaker 3: like everybody had it.
- 35:51Speaker 10: Yeah, the conversation is completely different if you're from a
- 35:54Speaker 10: Montana Yeah, Colorado then major.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Then if you're from either of the coast.
- 36:00Speaker 3: Because neither side understands each other because people on the
- 36:02Speaker 3: coast are like different, why and then people in rural
- 36:04Speaker 3: are like no, no, But you just wish there was
- 36:06Speaker 3: somebody like me who could bring your way together. I
- 36:09Speaker 3: don't know who that would be. That would be just
- 36:10Speaker 3: like me, man. I wish there was like a me
- 36:13Speaker 3: with a retro jersey signed by a superstar. It really
- 36:18Speaker 3: rides from the ashes. Probably it really wouldn't matter. But like,
- 36:22Speaker 3: like he probably was like something that was stolen, but
- 36:24Speaker 3: he wanted to do good. But okay, your brother didn't
- 36:27Speaker 3: call us back. You let him know.
- 36:30Speaker 1: He's upset, man, that's why he's like answer.
- 36:32Speaker 3: Can you imagine that's why he's so pissed right now?
- 36:35Speaker 3: Or he can't find his jersey, so he put his
- 36:37Speaker 3: phone to the side and he's searching all over town.
- 36:39Speaker 3: He supported it stolen to the cops. Really good to
- 36:44Speaker 3: meet you. Hope he had fun at the show.
- 36:47Speaker 1: It was awesome.
- 36:49Speaker 10: You know, it's like such a rare experience to see
- 36:52Speaker 10: that many amazing musicians with such different like vibes and talents.
- 36:59Speaker 3: In one sitting. It's it's for us, it's really cool.
- 37:02Speaker 3: But it's also because of that same thing, it becomes
- 37:04Speaker 3: a bit problematic because you're like, gotta learn this song,
- 37:07Speaker 3: and it's this style, gott to learn this song, and
- 37:10Speaker 3: then sometimes Addy and I go like, we're not learning
- 37:11Speaker 3: this one.
- 37:12Speaker 1: It's too hard.
- 37:14Speaker 10: If you guys were backing everyone up was so impressive.
- 37:18Speaker 3: I was like, are they play?
- 37:20Speaker 1: Are they do? They actually know all of these songs?
- 37:22Speaker 3: Most you see sometimes not play. Like sometimes if I
- 37:25Speaker 3: got to a part of a song and I was like, well,
- 37:27Speaker 3: I would just put my guitar. I would just take
- 37:29Speaker 3: my hands up. So people but most of it, and
- 37:32Speaker 3: some of them we were like, we're just hurting the cause.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Like when Edwin McCain came out like I, oh.
- 37:38Speaker 2: No, yeah, I took a guitar off and I laid
- 37:40Speaker 2: it there and just went back to the I'm not
- 37:44Speaker 2: going to mess that up. Good uh, good luck with
- 37:47Speaker 2: with super coffee.
- 37:49Speaker 3: You don't mean my luck. You're killing it. It's awesome.
- 37:52Speaker 3: And then I got a jersey and we'll figure out
- 37:55Speaker 3: what the plan is. It's your gift, man, it is
- 37:57Speaker 3: my gift, and I want it. I'll be honest, No, yes,
- 38:03Speaker 3: I just want to. I want to do what's right.
- 38:05Speaker 3: So when if your brother's cool, I'll do what he
- 38:09Speaker 3: thinks we should do. If he's like, I love it
- 38:12Speaker 3: and I will pay a ransom for it, it would
- 38:15Speaker 3: donate the ransom.
- 38:17Speaker 1: I would do that.
- 38:18Speaker 3: If he's like, he should just have it, I would
- 38:20Speaker 3: do that, and that's all. We'll just leave it to
- 38:23Speaker 3: those two.
- 38:24Speaker 9: It would be funny if he buys it back and
- 38:26Speaker 9: puts it on the wall.
- 38:27Speaker 3: I could put if you said you should put it
- 38:29Speaker 3: on eBay, and what I would do, this is what
- 38:32Speaker 3: I would do. This is the ultimate joke. I wouldn't
- 38:34Speaker 3: even do a Okay, I'm gonna put it up and
- 38:37Speaker 3: say give you can buy it for a thousand bucks.
- 38:40Speaker 3: I'd put it up as an auction and started at
- 38:42Speaker 3: like fifteen hundred or two thousand to three thousand or
- 38:45Speaker 3: something crazy, and then he'd have to go and at
- 38:48Speaker 3: least do that, and then watch people also fight with
- 38:51Speaker 3: him a bit it's so funny, but also want it.
- 38:54Speaker 3: But I think you tell me all right, we'll follow
- 38:57Speaker 3: up on that work and people get super coffee.
- 39:00Speaker 9: We're in Nashville, you get it on Kroger, but nationwide
- 39:02Speaker 9: we're on Amazon. We're gonna have a skinny latte summer.
- 39:06Speaker 9: That's the that's the motto this year. What's that mean?
- 39:09Speaker 9: Don't put all that sugar in your coffee. Grab super coffee.
- 39:11Speaker 9: You're a sugar Oh. I thought it was like a flavor.
- 39:13Speaker 9: No skinny lot, it's the whole. The concept is skinny
- 39:16Speaker 9: lot for me.
- 39:17Speaker 1: There.
- 39:17Speaker 3: I hate coffee. I'm talking with super Coffee.
- 39:19Speaker 1: I hate coffee.
- 39:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I hate taste coffee. It tastes like I don't know,
- 39:25Speaker 3: poop tastes like for the rest.
- 39:26Speaker 1: But you also don't know.
- 39:27Speaker 4: You also don't know a lot about coffee, Like you
- 39:29Speaker 4: thought coffee cake was like, oh, I thought coffee coffee
- 39:32Speaker 4: flavored cake.
- 39:33Speaker 3: Oh was that funny to you?
- 39:35Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 39:36Speaker 3: I thought coffee cake was coffee flavored cake, and I
- 39:39Speaker 3: was like, who in the world would eat I hate
- 39:40Speaker 3: the cake taste of coffee. Why would you make cake
- 39:42Speaker 3: taste bad? I mean that's fair though, Yeah, did you
- 39:44Speaker 3: enter the microfuse. Did you not think that coffee cake
- 39:47Speaker 3: was coffee flavored cake?
- 39:49Speaker 1: Oh, it's cake that you eat?
- 39:50Speaker 3: Whoop coffee nolice? Is that known? Is that like universally known?
- 39:54Speaker 1: I think it's no.
- 39:56Speaker 10: Yeah, dude, that the coffee like the nomenclature confusing.
- 40:00Speaker 3: I'll give you that.
- 40:01Speaker 10: But like I guess the real coffee cake is Tia Massoux, right,
- 40:03Speaker 10: because that's actually soaked.
- 40:06Speaker 3: Yes, now that's true. Like a dessert, a Tierra Massoux
- 40:08Speaker 3: does have a coffee flavoring too.
- 40:10Speaker 1: Now you know what Tiara Massoux is, Yes, coffee.
- 40:14Speaker 3: I do know what that is because they this is
- 40:16Speaker 3: on the menu.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Oh, coffee flavored cake.
- 40:19Speaker 3: And coffee cake says in the title.
- 40:21Speaker 5: I never knew that's why they called it that what coffee?
- 40:23Speaker 5: Coffee cake? So what did you think coffee?
- 40:25Speaker 3: What did you think?
- 40:26Speaker 8: I mean?
- 40:26Speaker 5: Initially I thought, yeah, like coffee.
- 40:28Speaker 3: I was like, that's the dumbest cane in the name.
- 40:30Speaker 1: Yes, a bunch of idiots.
- 40:31Speaker 3: So my point is, I hate coffee, but I like it.
- 40:34Speaker 3: But I like super coffee for a couple of reasons.
- 40:37Speaker 3: One because it's not that I don't feel like this
- 40:40Speaker 3: when I'm done. And then too. I like the pumpkin
- 40:42Speaker 3: pie flavor.
- 40:44Speaker 1: That's a good one.
- 40:44Speaker 3: And that may be like the most childlike flavor, but
- 40:48Speaker 3: I do like the pumpkin pie flavor.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Fas like Thanksgiving. Yeah, it's actually I know.
- 40:54Speaker 3: I'm a child.
- 40:54Speaker 4: Do you want to know what's funny is Jimmy brought
- 40:56Speaker 4: some super coffee and he brought it out of a
- 40:58Speaker 4: Kroger bag.
- 40:58Speaker 1: I'm like, did you buy it?
- 41:00Speaker 3: About your own stuff? That's like an artist whose single
- 41:02Speaker 3: comes out or the CD and they going by their
- 41:03Speaker 3: own at the target.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly what that is?
- 41:05Speaker 3: Okay, no coffee, brother, yet he must be like he
- 41:08Speaker 3: must be in a big meeting, like probably making deal.
- 41:10Speaker 3: He's with it on a coffee.
- 41:11Speaker 1: He's with the cops right now.
- 41:14Speaker 3: So what I say on the front are said, G
- 41:16Speaker 3: E O R G E. Good to see you guys,
- 41:20Speaker 3: Thanks for coming in for the show. Thank you for
- 41:22Speaker 3: the jersey. We we'll find out what we need to
- 41:24Speaker 3: do with it. And do you know AI, I don't know. Okay,
- 41:29Speaker 3: I mean I do. I'll call it like we could
- 41:32Speaker 3: settle it with that. Thank you, guys. Have a safe
- 41:34Speaker 3: trip back to Austin and we're coming in May or
- 41:37Speaker 3: so and maybe we'll see you guys in well on. Guys,
- 41:40Speaker 3: been together, by the way, three years. Okay, so you'll
- 41:42Speaker 3: probably still be together in May hopefully. When's the wedding
- 41:45Speaker 3: are you guys? Yeah, when you guys get.
- 41:46Speaker 9: Married September of twenty twenty five in Montana.
- 41:50Speaker 3: That's awesome.
- 41:50Speaker 1: You got to have buffaloes there.
- 41:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, I know the guy that runs Bevo.
- 41:56Speaker 3: We can at least ship him up there.
- 41:57Speaker 1: All right, right, Beivo the lomoren. We got to do
- 41:59Speaker 1: too much access Evo. That wait, how do we do
- 42:03Speaker 1: too much axes with Bevo?
- 42:04Speaker 9: You run them out, you silver spurs. You gotta put
- 42:07Speaker 9: the white cowboy pants on and all that.
- 42:08Speaker 1: That's a good idea.
- 42:09Speaker 3: I want to do it. I want to do it
- 42:11Speaker 3: and be like.
- 42:12Speaker 1: Hv A tol. Yeah.
- 42:15Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, thank you guys.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Good to see you guys too.
- 42:21Speaker 3: All right, that was awesome. Now let's get over to
- 42:24Speaker 3: my talk with Paul McDonald. Paul was the quarterback in
- 42:27Speaker 3: the nineteen seventy eight USC national championship team, so that
- 42:30Speaker 3: alone is amazing. Also all American, he was a top
- 42:35Speaker 3: six Heisman. He was draft in the fourth round. He
- 42:39Speaker 3: was the first lietenanded quarterback with the Cowboys. It just
- 42:42Speaker 3: goes on and on.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Played under Tom Landry.
- 42:45Speaker 3: Yeah, and what he's done even since he was also
- 42:49Speaker 3: the part of the broadcast team for USC for years. Right, Yeah,
- 42:52Speaker 3: he stayed it.
- 42:53Speaker 4: But you're you're missing the most important one the Cowboys. No,
- 42:56Speaker 4: Kevin played football with his son.
- 42:59Speaker 3: How is that not on the sheet? Read your fire.
- 43:02Speaker 3: It's not your job to fire somebody.
- 43:06Speaker 7: Yeah, that's the cool part is three sons all played
- 43:08Speaker 7: D one, three quarterback quarterbacks.
- 43:10Speaker 5: Yeah, all quarterbacks.
- 43:11Speaker 1: Wow.
- 43:11Speaker 3: He's an author and entrepreneur and overall like I liked him,
- 43:14Speaker 3: like I wanted to be friends with him.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Oh yeah, he's awesome.
- 43:16Speaker 3: Now you can check out his work at game change
- 43:18Speaker 3: nation dot com.
- 43:19Speaker 8: Here he is.
- 43:20Speaker 3: Paul McDonald, Hey, Paul, good to talk.
- 43:22Speaker 8: To you man, Bobby. Thanks for having me on your show. Yeah.
- 43:24Speaker 3: I got a lot to talk to you about, you know,
- 43:26Speaker 3: as far as as the book and game Change, et cetera.
- 43:29Speaker 3: But you know, when I was reading a bit about
- 43:32Speaker 3: your story, getting into the weeds a little bit like
- 43:35Speaker 3: I want to go back to that, to the year
- 43:37Speaker 3: that they had the strike and you know you're in
- 43:39Speaker 3: side gets hurt his arms hurt. You go like two
- 43:43Speaker 3: and one. You're probably feeling like, all right, this is
- 43:45Speaker 3: my big my big spot to make it in the NFL.
- 43:48Speaker 3: And then the strike hits, Like how I mean that
- 43:52Speaker 3: had to be such a terrible time for you.
- 43:56Speaker 6: Well, we were, we were out for sixty days on strike.
- 44:01Speaker 6: It was a completely weird experience, right. It was my
- 44:05Speaker 6: third year in the league. We played a few games,
- 44:07Speaker 6: we weren't playing pretty very well, and Brian Stick was
- 44:10Speaker 6: the starting quarterback. By the way, he won the MVP
- 44:12Speaker 6: in nineteen eighty so he's the best player in the NFL.
- 44:17Speaker 6: In eighty one, it didn't go so well. So really
- 44:22Speaker 6: an awakening moment was when he was introduced one.
- 44:24Speaker 8: Game in nineteen eighty one.
- 44:26Speaker 6: He got completely booed by the crowd, and at that
- 44:30Speaker 6: point I realized where the term fan came from.
- 44:35Speaker 8: Fanatics. Right, But in eighty.
- 44:38Speaker 6: Two he was actually starting, and we went on strike
- 44:42Speaker 6: for sixty days, and I was working out, I was
- 44:44Speaker 6: staying fit, and I don't know what Brian was doing,
- 44:48Speaker 6: but it wasn't working. When he came back and then
- 44:50Speaker 6: I got the start. My first start was against the
- 44:52Speaker 6: Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 44:54Speaker 3: When nice that went well when nice strike kids. Again,
- 44:58Speaker 3: this is is a different time then, and I think
- 45:01Speaker 3: back any strike that I saw when I was younger,
- 45:04Speaker 3: I kind of always held the players accountable not really
- 45:08Speaker 3: knowing how the game worked. Like I was like, could
- 45:10Speaker 3: you guys, they're just being selfish because again, we didn't
- 45:14Speaker 3: have the internet, we didn't have the ability to if
- 45:17Speaker 3: we wanted to learn more about it. To learn more
- 45:18Speaker 3: about it, we just kind of had to listen to
- 45:20Speaker 3: the forty second bite from the sports guy or the newspaper.
- 45:23Speaker 3: Did you feel like during the strike that people really
- 45:26Speaker 3: didn't know what the strike was about.
- 45:29Speaker 8: It's a great question, you know.
- 45:31Speaker 6: I've done a lot of interviews, Bobby, and no one's
- 45:33Speaker 6: ever asked me anything about this, So it's really cool.
- 45:38Speaker 8: We're talking about. I think as the players, we did.
- 45:41Speaker 6: Some things in the community, for nonprofits, for charitable organizations.
- 45:46Speaker 8: We tried to get the support of Cleveland. Cleveland. Now,
- 45:50Speaker 8: Cleveland's a sports town. I mean, they love you or they.
- 45:54Speaker 6: And they let you know how they're feeling. But I
- 45:57Speaker 6: loved I love playing in Cleveland. But yes, there was
- 46:00Speaker 6: I think this sense of wait a minute, come on,
- 46:03Speaker 6: let's we just want to watch you play. What's the
- 46:05Speaker 6: big deal and we're we're scrapping for peanuts, you know,
- 46:09Speaker 6: on the on the on the floor back in the day,
- 46:12Speaker 6: compared to what's going on today with the financial structure.
- 46:17Speaker 8: So what we had the.
- 46:18Speaker 6: Unions behind where we're union collective bargaining agreements as what
- 46:23Speaker 6: it was, and we're part of the NFL Players Association,
- 46:26Speaker 6: which is a union. So we had team stirs, we
- 46:29Speaker 6: had other of these organizations.
- 46:31Speaker 8: Walk in the picket line. I walked the picket line.
- 46:33Speaker 3: That's crazy, weird, that's crazy.
- 46:35Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 46:35Speaker 3: I mean even like not to stay too much on
- 46:37Speaker 3: a strike in general, but just being me being an
- 46:39Speaker 3: un educated sports fan. When I was a kid when
- 46:41Speaker 3: baseball struck, I was like, you guys are making a
- 46:43Speaker 3: ton of money. Get back. But then you realize what
- 46:44Speaker 3: the owners are actually making, and you know what, it's
- 46:46Speaker 3: a business, and you everything's relative, and so I was
- 46:49Speaker 3: just when I read your story about the strike hitting,
- 46:53Speaker 3: I was like, oh, man, that's stinks. And then it
- 46:54Speaker 3: just put me on this whole spiral of Man. I
- 46:57Speaker 3: used to hate strikes and hate the players for it,
- 46:58Speaker 3: but it really is not the players. It's it's on
- 47:00Speaker 3: both sides. But I would just blame the players because like, well,
- 47:03Speaker 3: you're millionaires, you should go play. But then I'm not like,
- 47:05Speaker 3: well you're billionaires. We just didn't know who the owners
- 47:07Speaker 3: were and so we couldn't really vilify them because they
- 47:09Speaker 3: were just a big corporation. But your career has been
- 47:11Speaker 3: so crazy, Like you are a first team All American,
- 47:15Speaker 3: you win the national championship at USC when you're in
- 47:19Speaker 3: LA in what was that like the late seventies when
- 47:22Speaker 3: you win the national championship seventy eight or so? Yes,
- 47:24Speaker 3: are you famous in LA in the late seventies as
- 47:28Speaker 3: the USC quarterback that won the national championship?
- 47:31Speaker 8: No?
- 47:33Speaker 6: No, not famous at all, even though we were on
- 47:36Speaker 6: the front page of the Times most every every day and.
- 47:39Speaker 3: First team All Americans, you know. But still it's not
- 47:42Speaker 3: like Matt Lioner even was. It's not like we could
- 47:45Speaker 3: go through a bunch of the USC quarterbacks now it was.
- 47:47Speaker 3: You weren't famous even though you were that dude.
- 47:51Speaker 8: Now, this is pre social media. This is a pre
- 47:56Speaker 8: I mean, all you have with the print news and
- 47:58Speaker 8: when you had you know, you had uh you know, the.
- 48:01Speaker 6: Weekly news and the daily news that there wasn't much
- 48:06Speaker 6: out there now even the people on campus. There was
- 48:11Speaker 6: a little bit buzz there, but I think people were,
- 48:14Speaker 6: you know.
- 48:15Speaker 8: Staying away.
- 48:15Speaker 6: They didn't want to hound you.
- 48:18Speaker 8: No, not at all. I mean I didn't know what.
- 48:22Speaker 6: Fans hysteria was all about until I got to Cleveland.
- 48:25Speaker 8: Believe it or not.
- 48:27Speaker 3: When you go and you're drafted, then the fourth round,
- 48:31Speaker 3: what is First of all, what's it like being drafted
- 48:33Speaker 3: in the first round? Back there? Now it's you on TV.
- 48:36Speaker 3: You go to New York or wherever they're having it.
- 48:37Speaker 3: We had a Nashville one year in Vegas. But to
- 48:39Speaker 3: be in the fourth round is that they two, three, four?
- 48:44Speaker 1: They do it all in one day?
- 48:45Speaker 3: Like what was that situation like?
- 48:47Speaker 6: All one day? Back back then again? No press, no media,
- 48:50Speaker 6: no nothing. First first time ESPN actually broadcast the draft
- 48:56Speaker 6: on TV. It was cable when no one had cable,
- 48:58Speaker 6: so I didn't even see it.
- 49:01Speaker 8: I just got a phone call.
- 49:02Speaker 6: I got a phone call from samartig Leana who was
- 49:04Speaker 6: the head coach, telling me I got drafted.
- 49:06Speaker 8: In the fourth round.
- 49:06Speaker 6: I was a little bummed because I was supposed to
- 49:10Speaker 6: go earlier by the Raiders and fortunate unfortunately for me,
- 49:15Speaker 6: but fortunately for him. Mark Wilson was available in the
- 49:17Speaker 6: first round. They took him, and so I had to
- 49:19Speaker 6: wait till the fourth round. At that juncture, I was
- 49:22Speaker 6: just happy to go anywhere, to be to be picked
- 49:25Speaker 6: and have an opportunity to go play and get paid
- 49:27Speaker 6: for it.
- 49:28Speaker 3: With the Brown was mister Brown? Was he there when
- 49:31Speaker 3: you were there?
- 49:32Speaker 6: Paul Paul Brown? Now he was at Cincinnati. Yeah, no
- 49:36Speaker 6: he wasn't, but he started. Art Modell was the owner.
- 49:41Speaker 6: They had a you know, they had a good I
- 49:43Speaker 6: didn't see that much on television, right, We didn't get
- 49:45Speaker 6: that out here in southern California. We got the Rams
- 49:49Speaker 6: mostly sometimes the Niners, but but I rarely saw them.
- 49:55Speaker 8: I didn't know where Cleveland was. I had to look
- 49:57Speaker 8: it up on a map.
- 49:58Speaker 3: Okay, so you're playing with the Browns. You know you've
- 50:03Speaker 3: you shifted teams a few times. You were in Seattle,
- 50:07Speaker 3: But did you ever actually make the team in Seattle
- 50:10Speaker 3: or on the practice squad?
- 50:11Speaker 6: There did not There was no practice squad. You made
- 50:14Speaker 6: the team, they sent you home. So I was was
- 50:18Speaker 6: with Cleveland for six years and got to play. I
- 50:21Speaker 6: started twenty two games, and that was a blast. Again,
- 50:25Speaker 6: you reference eighty two. We got the team to the
- 50:28Speaker 6: to the playoffs in nineteen eighty two, so that was
- 50:30Speaker 6: really fun to do that.
- 50:33Speaker 8: But then I got cut.
- 50:36Speaker 6: And I had a choice between Cincinnati or Seattle. I
- 50:40Speaker 6: thought Seattle would be a better opportunity, and I was
- 50:44Speaker 6: sort of wanted to get back to the West coast.
- 50:45Speaker 8: But then I was just in training camp got cut.
- 50:49Speaker 6: Fortunately I had an injury guarantee, and so mid Sea.
- 50:53Speaker 6: It's interesting because you you're cut and you're like, Okay.
- 50:56Speaker 8: You're looking at the waiver wire who got cut.
- 50:59Speaker 6: Maybe there's an opportunity for me to go to another
- 51:02Speaker 6: team and get picked up and keep playing. I did
- 51:04Speaker 6: that for several weeks and then nothing, no phone calls, nothing,
- 51:09Speaker 6: And so finally I got a call from my old
- 51:11Speaker 6: friend Paul Hackett, who was coaching at SCA. He was
- 51:14Speaker 6: at that time the offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys,
- 51:19Speaker 6: and he called me and I decided he was just
- 51:21Speaker 6: calling a chat because I had forgotten about it. I
- 51:23Speaker 6: was like looking at like what am I going to
- 51:24Speaker 6: do with my life kind of thing, and he said, hey,
- 51:26Speaker 6: Danny White got injured on Sunday, and that's time.
- 51:30Speaker 8: I got to Dallas for a couple of years.
- 51:31Speaker 3: Dan, that's pretty cool.
- 51:32Speaker 1: Yeah, that's great. I love that.
- 51:34Speaker 4: So you you played under Tom Landry. Well, I mean,
- 51:38Speaker 4: I'm a huge, huge Dallas Cowboys fan, but I don't
- 51:40Speaker 4: know much about Tom Landry other than my grandfather busted
- 51:45Speaker 4: Tom Landry stealing Beebies from his hardware store.
- 51:48Speaker 3: I hear the story everywhere.
- 51:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:49Speaker 8: Yeah, that is shocking that he would do anything illegal.
- 51:54Speaker 8: That's crazy.
- 51:55Speaker 1: Yeah. What what was he like?
- 51:57Speaker 8: Stoic? He was kind of in his own little world.
- 52:01Speaker 6: Not not a guy you would run up to and
- 52:05Speaker 6: give a hug or even a high five. He walked
- 52:08Speaker 6: down the hall sometimes because he was in his thoughts
- 52:11Speaker 6: and you walked past him, and he wouldn't even recognize you,
- 52:13Speaker 6: wouldn't even acknowledge you, wouldn't say hi to you. And
- 52:15Speaker 6: I thought that was a little strange. We would have
- 52:19Speaker 6: meetings and he would go through these spreadsheets and he
- 52:24Speaker 6: had all these different categories of measurement. How how the
- 52:28Speaker 6: team was doing, you know, third down conversions, first down,
- 52:31Speaker 6: how many yards on first I mean.
- 52:32Speaker 8: All this, you know, just detail.
- 52:37Speaker 6: And I was up on the top row one time
- 52:38Speaker 6: we were doing this, and I mean half the row
- 52:42Speaker 6: was they were sleeping there you know, because he had
- 52:43Speaker 6: this like overhead projector putting.
- 52:45Speaker 8: Those numbers up on them.
- 52:46Speaker 6: They could Most of the players couldn't follow the numbers,
- 52:49Speaker 6: but he he obviously was an amazing coach. Would have
- 52:53Speaker 6: loved to play for him longer. In fact, he told me,
- 52:56Speaker 6: I wish I would have drafted you. He was very
- 52:58Speaker 6: loyal coach. When I got cut there on my way out,
- 53:02Speaker 6: he said, I wish I would have draft you because
- 53:03Speaker 6: he was that way. He would he would hang with
- 53:05Speaker 6: you a long time. It's unfortunate how it all ended
- 53:10Speaker 6: for him, with his career and Jerry Jones coming in
- 53:12Speaker 6: just cleaning house. It's disappointing to see that. But great man,
- 53:16Speaker 6: great human being.
- 53:16Speaker 3: A couple of questions for you about what's happening kind
- 53:20Speaker 3: of now us he leaves the PAC twelve pactell is
- 53:23Speaker 3: basically two teams now but what what? What the heck? Like?
- 53:27Speaker 3: That's a whole new feeling. If you're an SC fan,
- 53:29Speaker 3: you're traveling to places you'd never been, all the way
- 53:31Speaker 3: across the country. How do you feel about that?
- 53:35Speaker 8: So weird? It's bizarre.
- 53:37Speaker 3: Good luck at Ruggers, you know, it's for it's crazy scheduling.
- 53:43Speaker 6: They could really put the knife to the Trojans, the Bruins,
- 53:47Speaker 6: and of course the Ducks and now you dub uh
- 53:51Speaker 6: in the tribal schedule playing playing those games in November
- 53:55Speaker 6: when it's snowing back in the Midwest and Ann Harbor
- 53:58Speaker 6: or you know, the Big House and the Shoe at
- 54:04Speaker 6: Ohio State. So I think it's gonna be really, really interesting.
- 54:08Speaker 6: I don't know how they're gonna deal with travel. I
- 54:09Speaker 6: think football is one thing, but all these other sports
- 54:11Speaker 6: think about that. Yeah, what are you gonna do? Go
- 54:14Speaker 6: play doubleheader? You miss miss school? I mean you're gone
- 54:17Speaker 6: from school for a week or two weeks with basketball, baseball, tennis.
- 54:21Speaker 6: I mean, I just don't know. And the cost of
- 54:25Speaker 6: travel is going to be immense. So it's gonna be
- 54:29Speaker 6: an interesting experiment.
- 54:31Speaker 3: When you're playing at SC Mark s Allen's on the team,
- 54:34Speaker 3: young Mark Sallen. Was he something or was he just
- 54:38Speaker 3: one of the awesome dudes who developed into something even better?
- 54:41Speaker 8: So here's trivia question. Bobby who is named the modern
- 54:44Speaker 8: day quarterback? And trust sixty six years old, so we
- 54:50Speaker 8: use that term loosely.
- 54:53Speaker 6: Name the modern day quarterback who played in the same
- 54:55Speaker 6: backfield with two Heisman Trophy winners.
- 54:58Speaker 3: I'm gonna go the modern day quarterback who played in
- 55:02Speaker 3: the same backfield with two, But so first, it's got
- 55:05Speaker 3: to be something that is about you. Initially I would
- 55:07Speaker 3: go Heismotrophy, but Thrma Thomas didn't win the Heisman Trophy.
- 55:09Speaker 3: Barry Sanders, they both played at Oklahoma State. I think
- 55:11Speaker 3: of elite running back tandems Jackie Robinson not he played,
- 55:16Speaker 3: was a great football player too. But he asked me
- 55:20Speaker 3: one more time, who the modern day quarterback? So that
- 55:23Speaker 3: had to be somebody from the seventies on.
- 55:25Speaker 6: I would say, yes, from the seventies on, Yes, exactly.
- 55:29Speaker 6: So what played in the same backfield with two Heisman
- 55:33Speaker 6: Trophy winners.
- 55:34Speaker 8: M Okay, it's you.
- 55:38Speaker 3: It's you. It's got to be it's got to be you.
- 55:40Speaker 3: It's a great question. Okay, yeah, got it.
- 55:42Speaker 1: How do we not get that?
- 55:43Speaker 3: No, less the point. Paul McDonald's my guest.
- 55:46Speaker 8: Let's go boom. Yeah.
- 55:49Speaker 6: Charles White won it my year in nineteen seventy nine,
- 55:53Speaker 6: and then and Marcus was the starting fullback.
- 55:56Speaker 3: That's crazy, and so he wanted.
- 55:58Speaker 6: Two years later. So you can win a lot of
- 56:00Speaker 6: money on that beat. In any bar anytime.
- 56:06Speaker 3: I just should not have been an idiot. Why That's
- 56:08Speaker 3: why I didn't have any friends and I lost all
- 56:10Speaker 3: the time he was there, I didn't get there. Okay,
- 56:13Speaker 3: I got three final questions for you, Lincoln Riley. Will
- 56:16Speaker 3: he play with full eleven men on defense this year
- 56:18Speaker 3: unlike last year where he was had like four guys
- 56:20Speaker 3: out there at a time.
- 56:22Speaker 6: You know, so many of my colleagues, my former teammates,
- 56:25Speaker 6: were just shaking our heads.
- 56:27Speaker 8: You know.
- 56:28Speaker 6: To win a title in football, you have to have
- 56:32Speaker 6: a mental toughness. You have to be physical, and that
- 56:36Speaker 6: means running the football. It doesn't mean necessarily.
- 56:39Speaker 8: Mean throwing it every down, and that means you got
- 56:42Speaker 8: to play great defense. You know.
- 56:43Speaker 6: Obviously championship wins defense. Isn't that the cliche? So it
- 56:46Speaker 6: was so frustrating. Doesn't matter how any points you score,
- 56:50Speaker 6: you keep giving it up out the back door. So
- 56:53Speaker 6: they're certainly getting all the players and recruiting portal got
- 56:59Speaker 6: I think, and enhanced coaching staff.
- 57:01Speaker 8: We'll see, but you know, it's that.
- 57:06Speaker 6: You have to have that mindset of physical toughness. The
- 57:11Speaker 6: offense they run does not coincide with that level of mindset.
- 57:16Speaker 6: It's finesse, it's skills, it's fast receivers, it's fun.
- 57:22Speaker 8: It's you know, it's not their.
- 57:25Speaker 6: Dam three downs on a cloud of dust. It's let's
- 57:29Speaker 6: just make this fun and entertaining. We're like showtime. That's
- 57:33Speaker 6: what their offense is. But to win a championship, they
- 57:36Speaker 6: need to develop a different culture.
- 57:37Speaker 3: What's difficult If I were an SC fan, Well, my
- 57:40Speaker 3: family's all OEU fans, so the massive OU fan, So
- 57:42Speaker 3: I I'm not. I'm an Arkansas fan, but I got
- 57:44Speaker 3: to I watched Owe you a lot, and you know,
- 57:47Speaker 3: if this was a one off thing, you'd be like, well,
- 57:49Speaker 3: but the same thing happened at OU where they scored
- 57:52Speaker 3: a bunch of points, but they had a bunch points
- 57:54Speaker 3: scored on them. So it's not like he just has
- 57:56Speaker 3: a switch he can flip. So if I were an
- 57:58Speaker 3: SC fan, I'd be like, dude, just bring somebody and
- 58:01Speaker 3: go with defense as yours and I will not touch it.
- 58:03Speaker 3: Difficult thing to do, obviously, but do you feel like
- 58:07Speaker 3: defensively they're going to actually recruit different types of players
- 58:10Speaker 3: now that they're playing in that conference, Like the Big
- 58:13Speaker 3: going to the Big Ten, it's a bigger, it's a
- 58:15Speaker 3: whole different landscape.
- 58:16Speaker 6: I hope so, I hope so. I believe that's what
- 58:19Speaker 6: they're doing. I believe that's what their intention is. Hey,
- 58:22Speaker 6: he's a smart guy, Lincoln Rise is a smart guy.
- 58:24Speaker 8: But you are right.
- 58:27Speaker 6: Your DNA is your DNA. I believe he took a
- 58:30Speaker 6: real step back to look at the landscape and review everything.
- 58:35Speaker 6: I think he's going to allow the defensive coordinator, that
- 58:37Speaker 6: the guy from UCLA to run the show.
- 58:40Speaker 8: And he's got to run his defense. You can't. And
- 58:43Speaker 8: they did a good job at UCLA last year just
- 58:45Speaker 8: one year being there.
- 58:46Speaker 6: So hopefully that will be the case for USC this
- 58:50Speaker 6: year that they'll be tougher.
- 58:52Speaker 8: They can stop and get the.
- 58:54Speaker 6: Offense off the field, so the Trophans can come on
- 58:57Speaker 6: and score the points that they know how to do.
- 58:59Speaker 3: All right, trivia question, and I'll end with this, is
- 59:01Speaker 3: it Paul McDonald, Well, he's part of the answer.
- 59:04Speaker 8: I'll get that one.
- 59:05Speaker 3: So in the nineteen seventy that the Heisman Trophy voting,
- 59:07Speaker 3: Paul McDonald finished sixth overall. Who finished first, second, third, fourth,
- 59:11Speaker 3: and fifth?
- 59:14Speaker 6: Well, let's see, second might have been second or third?
- 59:21Speaker 6: Was Arch Sleaster. Wow, that's a great question.
- 59:27Speaker 3: I don't even know the answer. I just wonder. I
- 59:29Speaker 3: just wondered if he knew who finished the five that
- 59:30Speaker 3: finished ahead of him more than I.
- 59:32Speaker 8: Knew I finished sixth.
- 59:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, let's look it up.
- 59:35Speaker 3: Let's look it up.
- 59:36Speaker 1: So you didn't even know, No, No, I didn't.
- 59:38Speaker 3: I just want to see if he knew because nineteen
- 59:40Speaker 3: seventy nine heisman Charles White is a winner, obviously, right seem.
- 59:54Speaker 1: Charles White.
- 59:54Speaker 3: It doesn't have the rest of them. I have me, Okay,
- 59:57Speaker 3: go ahead.
- 59:57Speaker 1: Who do you have at second?
- 59:59Speaker 3: Yeah? Billy s Oh from Oklahoma? Yeah, go ahead? And
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: number three Mark Wilson, one of the Beach Boys, go.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: Ahead, and number four Art Slid.
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: That'ston Peyton and Eli Son Art.
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: He just said that, he said.
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: And then have five Vegas Ferguson, Oh, classic Vegas, Vegas Ferguson.
- 1:00:17Speaker 8: Notre Dame running back, good player.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: A couple of things that I wanted to talk about. First,
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: we're uh, you know, a bit of adversity because I
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: just kind of want to lead into the book here,
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: and I feel like we all have a ton of it. It's,
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: you know, not if we're going to get it, it's
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: when we get it. How do we react? You know,
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: what are the tools we've kind of developed? And so
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: you wrote through the Tunnel true stories of sports and
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: life that empower your spirit. So is that is this
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: book just gonna make me a better person? Because I
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: need it, Paul. That's why I have you here.
- 1:00:46Speaker 8: I need it, Bobby. We all need it. We all
- 1:00:51Speaker 8: need to improved. We all need to be our best self. Fact,
- 1:00:54Speaker 8: there's a chapter in there, be your best self.
- 1:00:58Speaker 6: I think you know what we tell ourselves all day
- 1:01:02Speaker 6: long is a reflection of our life. And if we're
- 1:01:06Speaker 6: not caring for ourselves, how can we care for another.
- 1:01:10Speaker 6: That's not narcissistic, that's just the fact. That's what we
- 1:01:13Speaker 6: should be doing. And but we go around beat ourselves up.
- 1:01:16Speaker 6: Why did I say this? Why do I do that?
- 1:01:17Speaker 8: I better than that? Now, you got to be grateful,
- 1:01:20Speaker 8: grateful for what you have, Grateful for what you've done. Bobby,
- 1:01:23Speaker 8: Look at you.
- 1:01:23Speaker 6: Look at your career, I mean music, country music, your
- 1:01:28Speaker 6: status in the in the world, sports, comedian, renaissance man.
- 1:01:32Speaker 6: Really focus on all of those great things instead of
- 1:01:37Speaker 6: what you're not doing, and good things will continue to
- 1:01:39Speaker 6: happen for you.
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: I'm more like Rent to own mannisances. Yeah, I'm more
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: like you go and you pay a little bit each
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: month and by the time you finally get it, you've
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: paid like four times for it. It's like it's more
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: like layway those real price. You know, that's the difference.
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: So tell me about game change, because it feels like
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: that is a resource that a lot of folks are
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: able to used to better themselves or at least put
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: themselves in a position to do that.
- 1:02:04Speaker 8: We're launching at the end of the summer.
- 1:02:06Speaker 6: We're super My partner and I, Jack Barrett, were super
- 1:02:08Speaker 6: excited about it.
- 1:02:09Speaker 8: I met Jack this is a good story through a
- 1:02:13Speaker 8: mutual friend.
- 1:02:13Speaker 6: We met He is a documentary filmmakers, a storyteller, and
- 1:02:18Speaker 6: so he wanted to make a movie, a documentary on
- 1:02:21Speaker 6: the history of the USC UCLA football rivalry. So I said,
- 1:02:27Speaker 6: I wasn't that interested in it, you know, even though
- 1:02:30Speaker 6: I broadcast football at SC for fifteen years on radio,
- 1:02:33Speaker 6: just didn't interest me. I was interested in bigger things,
- 1:02:36Speaker 6: different things instead of just football.
- 1:02:38Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:02:40Speaker 6: But then we start talking about, hey, let's attach ourselves
- 1:02:42Speaker 6: to a charitable cause. Let's do something good for society.
- 1:02:47Speaker 6: So we found this charity called curate and we made
- 1:02:52Speaker 6: the movie. We had this premiere. It was awesome.
- 1:02:54Speaker 8: We had half the side was sc former sc.
- 1:02:57Speaker 6: Athletes and football players. The other half side was former
- 1:03:00Speaker 6: UCLA football players and we watched the film together. I
- 1:03:04Speaker 6: raised a lot of money for this organization called Cure
- 1:03:07Speaker 6: for Cancer Research. We've netted that. We've had a dinner
- 1:03:11Speaker 6: ever since then. That was about twelve thirteen years ago.
- 1:03:14Speaker 6: We've had a dinner. And now we've got a golf
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: turn who netted five million dollars for cancer research by
- 1:03:19Speaker 6: making that movie.
- 1:03:20Speaker 8: So how cool was that? So that's how I.
- 1:03:21Speaker 6: Met Jack, and then Jack and I really became friends.
- 1:03:25Speaker 8: It was him nudging me, Paul, we.
- 1:03:27Speaker 6: Got to write a book. You got to write a book.
- 1:03:29Speaker 6: My son also nice me too.
- 1:03:30Speaker 8: I thought like, what am I going to write a
- 1:03:32Speaker 8: book about?
- 1:03:32Speaker 6: So we came up with the theme and so the
- 1:03:36Speaker 6: book Through the Tunnel is really a precursor for game
- 1:03:40Speaker 6: change and game change. You know, let's be honest our society,
- 1:03:46Speaker 6: especially the pressure the state of the mental health of
- 1:03:51Speaker 6: our children. And we're focusing on to start and launch
- 1:03:55Speaker 6: our company high school student athletes. I mean, the pressure
- 1:03:59Speaker 6: on these kids is immense with social media with what
- 1:04:02Speaker 6: theirs expectations are to getting into college and getting to
- 1:04:04Speaker 6: college of their choice. So we're providing inspirational content. A
- 1:04:09Speaker 6: lot of it's free, but there is a paywall, so
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: there'll be some subcrision as well. We're going to have
- 1:04:15Speaker 6: mastered class like things classes and web live, web broadcast
- 1:04:21Speaker 6: chat room for these kids that they can just go
- 1:04:23Speaker 6: hang out and it's all.
- 1:04:24Speaker 8: Positivity, it's all empowerment.
- 1:04:26Speaker 6: So we're going to not just fire them up, We're
- 1:04:28Speaker 6: going to provide them tools of how to lead their
- 1:04:31Speaker 6: best life.
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: That's awesome, I am mental health is something that this
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: generation now is actually understanding. It's something they work on.
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: I mean mine was like the last one where it
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: was kind of embarrassing to talk about but a few
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: people were doing it. But now, especially with what you're
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: doing and you're having something that exists that people can go.
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: It's a well that people can go get water, Like
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: we're learning why we need water and that's well they
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: can go get the water. And so I think that's
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: great for athletes who honestly, if you're really good at
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: being an athlete, people wonn't really focus on you for much. Else.
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: I think you've seen that too, and there's not a
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: lot of skills that are developing. I didn't develop being
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: funny let until I got beat up, you know. And
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: it's these athletes are always, you know, either the prize athlete.
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: That's all they're known for. That they don't have to
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: develop other skills until they get to a point where
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: they just don't have them, and that's really not where
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: we want them to be. So I really commend to
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: you for your effort in trying to take care of
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: these kids and these young athletes.
- 1:05:25Speaker 8: Well, thank you, Thank you, Bobby. We're doing our part.
- 1:05:29Speaker 6: It's not just those that are lead either, it's you
- 1:05:32Speaker 6: look at like ninety five ninety six percent of these
- 1:05:36Speaker 6: kids will not play in college, and it's that high
- 1:05:39Speaker 6: school experience that.
- 1:05:40Speaker 8: We want to maximize for them.
- 1:05:41Speaker 6: And by the way, the lessons you learn in sports
- 1:05:44Speaker 6: are just fantastic, you know, like you said, Overcoming adversity,
- 1:05:49Speaker 6: working with others, being on a team, dealing with a loss,
- 1:05:53Speaker 6: dealing with a win, how to perform in pressure moments,
- 1:05:58Speaker 6: how to rise above There's so many different lessons to
- 1:06:02Speaker 6: be learned.
- 1:06:02Speaker 8: So we want to keep them in sports.
- 1:06:03Speaker 6: We want to keep them having fun and have the
- 1:06:06Speaker 6: proper perspective about it, and even if they're not, you know,
- 1:06:09Speaker 6: the star it's it's an awesome experience. And think about
- 1:06:14Speaker 6: when you were a kid, Bobby, I mean just playing
- 1:06:16Speaker 6: in the street with your buddies. That's what sports is
- 1:06:18Speaker 6: meant to be, and that's what we're attempting to encourage
- 1:06:21Speaker 6: kids to continue to do.
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: I like dealing with wins. Did you have buddies, nobody's
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: and any bodies and didn't win? So you know, I
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: definitely going to use this. I use this here. Well,
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: look this is It's been awesome to talk with you.
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: Congrats on the book and also I'm really looking forward
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: to seeing game change Nation. Man, this gonna be awesome.
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: You know, it's a super great idea. I think it's
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: a much needed idea, and I think it takes somebody
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: who's been through it but has also learned what you
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: didn't know. Meaning if my analogy as I grew up
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: really poor, but now I'm pretty rich, and I know
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: how poor people get screwed over, so I can help them.
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: And the same way with you being an athlete and
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: now you've switched your career to go to business, you
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: now can help athletes had no idea what what what
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: they were missing out on with business because nobody was
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: helping them. And so because of that, like I admire that.
- 1:07:07Speaker 6: I'll leave you with this quote, Our greatest work is
- 1:07:11Speaker 6: that which we wish had been offered to us when
- 1:07:14Speaker 6: we were in our deepest pain.
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: That's a pretty hard quote to leave me on, because
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: I got to look it up and see what that means.
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: But I leave you with this quote.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: Oh boy, quote challenge.
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: We quote back and forth. Whoever established the high road?
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: Wait?
- 1:07:35Speaker 5: I lost it, dang it.
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just gonna go
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: ask where they were going and hook up with them later,
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: hook up with them later, get fine them.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: Ah, got it, got it. I took that a whole
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: different direc Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: Let me leave you guys one okaye quote get busy

- 1:10:14Speaker 4: It's like the loser, I know, I know, but it's
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: not sexy. But I think that's just kind of where
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: it's at.
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: You know, what is sexy? My gold bo Jackson signed
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: Tops eight of twenty signature.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: That's not sexy. That's sexy.
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: Yeah, Like I tried to have sex with it the
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: way you did. Yeah, there wasn't. Yeah there was gold.
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: I couldn't. It's wrong with you, man, But it was
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: that sexy dude.
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: That's so cool, man, that's so so cool at all
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: those cards are so cool.
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: So we opened the box and we streamed it. I
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: guess we haven't talked about it here though we haven't.
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: We did so much talk about it on this, I
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: should do a quick recap and you'll see the whole
- 1:10:51Speaker 3: episode when we do our series on memorabilia. So we
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: open this box and get the invitation. Got a Goal
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: Tier invite? I have to RCP to that, I guess,
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: but I don't know if I get one or two people.
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: Do I want to go by.
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: Myself and you want to take me with you?
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: No? No, No, Listen to what I'm saying. What if I
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: only have the option to go by myself if it's
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: not a plus one? Do I want to go by myself?
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: You have to? That's awkward.
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: It is awkward.
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: It's awkward.
- 1:11:17Speaker 5: What if they ask you to wear like a masquerade?
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: Oh? Do I have sex party? Yeah?
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: With cards?
- 1:11:22Speaker 7: I call Jackson, bring your bo Jackson, Bobby.
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: That's a good question, man.
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: I kind of feel like I have to just for
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: the story. Yeah, it says Baltimore doesn't give a date
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: and I need an RSVP because I have it, and
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: it says gold Tier. But I think I think you
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: guys were dead wrong. I think gold is just a
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: basic because the box is gold. But I don't know that.
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: I couldn't find it, Mike anything.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: Nothing about that.
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: But I do see there are no plus ones?
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: What one ticket?
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: They want you to go solo, so you buy a
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: box and then you have a.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: Hey even Willie Wonka, like even little I only had
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: a plus one?
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: Is that for this year? Microp for last year?
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm seeing it right now.
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: That's I guess somebody else email them because there's nothing
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: under the ticket and they said yeah, they said back
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: no plus ones.
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: Wow, dang secret club.
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: I got a minrdy No, that's Usmarinardi Johnny Bench one
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: on one sign was cool. I looked up the Derek
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: Jeter because now I've been able to spend a little
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: time with the cards and you know, we cry together.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: Hey are they still all laid out the way we like?
- 1:12:28Speaker 9: It?
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: Wereked till yesterday. But I had dorm dudes come over
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: before they left, and I had them help me sleave
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: them because I don't feel good about messing up the
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: cards and they do it all the time. So I said,
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: would you guys come over and help me put them
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: in stuff so on a mess the corners up.
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: Yeah, they know how to grab all that stuff.
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: And they did. They came over and some of them
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: were like, you don't want to sleave these, we have
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: to get order bigger sleeves two by two, little dozzle
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: point nine six.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: Illuminardi, get the ID deal and get a bigger card.
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: And so I was like, okay, so I ordered some
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: batter ones but they're so awesome to look at.
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: Which one?
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: It just costs so much, But I don't even care
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: about costs anymore because it's already gone. Yeah, it's like
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: credit card money gone. Yeah, it's credit card now. It
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: sunds play money except not really. It sucks and I
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: gotta pay the bill, but I do good points. But
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: even then Dave Ramer saidn't worry about pints. Dave Ramsey says,
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: you know, points aren't. Yeah, he's so he's exactly what
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: he said. But I have to go to this thing
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: by myself. If that's true, I have to go. There's
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: no date, but I am going to RSVP today. If
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: you want to know a little fun fact. And I
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: don't know that we're doing it. I was talking with
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: Zach from Dorm Dudes, and he's the CEO, and I
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: was also talking with his like first in command. Do
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: you guys do you guys meet those guys?
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: Yeah, dorm Dudes, Yeah, yeah, Zach and Shane.
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: Yeah, so Zach and Shane were over. We did an
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: interview about breaking and Zach's like, man, Zac's like, I
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: want to buy a box. Probably Zach's a kid. They're
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: both really smart, extremely ingenuitive. Twenty two year old. Yeah,
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: he was hustling with a lawn care business before this,
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: like building out a lone. Like he's he's got a
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: brain as an entrepreneur. It's wild because he's so young
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: and like risk taking and like doesn't come from like
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: money or anything. So he was like, we should go
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: in thirds and buy another box. And I was like, man,
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: third sounds so much better.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: Than another pool. So y'all doing it?
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: I Well, surprises have gone up. They're like thirty grand
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: a box, now, I know. So I said I would
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: be in if we could find another twenty well mine
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: was twenty five. If we could find one between twenty
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: and twenty five, I would go in on a third.
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: Do you think you'll make money off this first box?
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: I don't know, because at least your money back.
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: I don't know. I hope I'm gonna start doing that.
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: But I looked up the Derek Jeter that I have
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: because there's like a a something of fifteen in the
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: same card that's twelve hundred bucks. I have something of
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: ten that Derek Jeter Patch signed, so I know that
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: one's at thirteen fourteen hundred bucks. We got a bunch
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: of five hundred ers. We got that John F. Kennedy,
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: which I'm going to a list on eBay. I'm gonna
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: start at like ten grand and nobody may buy it,
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: and I hate to have to get rid of it,
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: but I'm on my money back. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Like
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: I didn't do this business man. No, it's actually a stupidity.
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: It's just for fun and for a series. And if
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: I lose a few thousand bucks, that sucks. But we
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: have a show. We're trying to make this show well,
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: hopefully we get sponsors. It wasn't just me throwing money
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: at it. I saw some people and I made the
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: joke too, like you give a poor hillbilly money, look
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: what he goes and buys. True, but also to us,
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: it's a series and we're out pitching it now for
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: sponsors and hopefully I'm able to make money and pay
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: for it. And if not, then I'm just a hillbilly
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: that has too much money.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: And they're right.
- 1:15:39Speaker 5: It is what it is, just a hillbilly for sure.
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: I'll be back to that soon if I keep buying it,
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: don't worry. Uh So, I've been looking at him, but
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: we've sleaved them up. We feel pretty good about some
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: of them thinking about doing another one. But then it's
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: the if they're all three of us, who gets that
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: other ticket to the party? Oh yeah, yeah, because there's
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: three of us and I'm is it. I have equal
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: call to that ticket as well.
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: I got it. Is what you do?
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: Get the ticket in half?
- 1:16:05Speaker 4: You know, you put all you put all the names
- 1:16:06Speaker 4: in in a hat and if whoever draws it goes
- 1:16:10Speaker 4: to that person. Now, if you get it, I get
- 1:16:12Speaker 4: a second ticket, and then you get a plus one.
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: I don't hate that idea. We're going with you, and
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: that's then we'll draw all your names. Who goes with me? Oh?
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: And then draw.
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: You know where your big coat and just on each
- 1:16:26Speaker 3: other's shoulders. It's funny that twee. Your mind goes child.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: Like sneak in big huge trench coat.
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: Read let comes out of nowhere with gold sometimes Uh huh.
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: That's hilarious. So that's that deal. I don't when this Airrs.
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: It could all be settled. I don't know. Personally, I'm
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: dealing with the Arkansas Razorbacks.
- 1:16:47Speaker 8: Mike.
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: Will you look and see I anything's happened, If must
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: has gone yet, if he's.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: Not leaving, what do you know? What do you know
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: about it?
- 1:16:54Speaker 8: Well?
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: I don't want him to go, but if he does go,
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: I'm okay with it because that's his mom lives there.
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: That's how California, Yeah, Southern California especially, that's it will
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: be like if the head coaching job at Mountain Pine World,
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: but I leave here to go do that, it's my home.
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: You would not, I know, because that coach.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: I could not.
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: But I know he wants to be there eventually and
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: goes there a lot when he has vacation, and he's
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: been awesome for ARKTS. So he's elevated the program to
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: a point where we now can go get a top
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: tier coach because of the success that's just recently been
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: had in the last five years to early days of
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: Sweet sixteen. Anything as of right the second no, nothing new, Okay,
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: So when you have this podcast, who knows what's changed?
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: But I know you though you're not just like waiting
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: on Twitter being like, ooh, any.
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: Updates, like have you called it? Have you texted him?
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: That's a it's a weird if any of my I
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: wouldn't say bustling are friend friends, but if any of
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: my friends or even like buddies in the industry, if
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: they're like controversy, it's it's weird to even tech somebody music,
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: unless you, like if you're an artist, if you're like
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: a super close friend. Let's say it didn't happen. But
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: let's say John Party uh got arrested for what's something
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: that's not bad, but it would be.
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: Weird trespassing because he like jumped a fence at a ranch.
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: I'd probably text loll to him that maybe too close
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: to him, but oh, bar fight. I don't know that
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: one too, like how you feeling? Maybe John parties that example,
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: but it would be weird to text somebody who's been
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: like a little not a scandal, but something that's really
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: not my business. So I did text must, but I
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: don't text him. He's not gonna text me like updates,
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: like live updates, like a like a real friend would.
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: And I don't feel like I can share what he
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: has said to me because it's not said to be shared.
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: And if I want to be somebody who can be
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: told something and not.
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: Yeah, spill it, it's too big news.
- 1:18:59Speaker 3: Well, I I also don't know, like something could happen,
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: and I won't know what's happening because I only talked
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: to him yesterday.
- 1:19:05Speaker 4: So what I mean, what I saw was that he's
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: had an interview scheduled.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: So this is what has.
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: Been said publicly. There have been sources that said Must
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: have been looking for a new job. What I think
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: not what I know. I don't know this firsthand. But
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: what I think is that must is the kind of
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: guy that's always looking for any opportunity. He's like keeping
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: his eyes open for any opportunity ever all the time.
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: It doesn't matter when lose, whin lose. He's always like,
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: let's go, let's look, let's look around. Is there something
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: that would be more fitting for me? Or is there
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: something I could leverage to get a longer contract here.
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: He must have just a businessman, sure, and a really
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: good basketball coach. So I don't fault him for that
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: because I would do the same thing. You know, it's business.
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: There's loyalty, but it's business, so there's not really it's
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: like our company. I love our company. They've been great
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: to me for twenty years. But I also know the
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: company tomorrow if something happened. So I'm loyal to them
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: to a point, but you always got to look out
- 1:19:59Speaker 3: for Number one. That being said, I know he loves
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: southern California, and we all have known as Arkansas fans
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: that that's what we're gonna lose him to eventually. He's
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: very nomadic in nature. Anyway, everybody's been. We know that's
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: where he wants to go. So you can't be mad
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: at somebody for going where. Personally, it makes the difference.
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: And also, if you're a LA guy, you want to
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: live in La, not Fayetteville. And yeah, attackers are higher
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: and Steff costs more, but he'll be okay. And also
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: it's like what fulfills you?
- 1:20:31Speaker 9: Right?
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: Yeah, at that point, see a big difference between LA
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: and FA.
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: I don't either. I'm just saying that all I did
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: text with him. Right now, It's twelve twenty on Thursday,
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: April fourth. This podcast goes up today. Anything could change,
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: anything could be different. I did text with him, we
- 1:20:47Speaker 3: did speak about it. Will I'm not going to share
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: what he said but I do have knowledge, and I
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: hope he stays. People are like, he's already. It's it's irre, irre, irrutable, posible, irrefutable,
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: one of the eras irritable. That's bowls my bows, Like
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: they like, you can't fix this. If he's almost yeah,
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: maybe maybe that.
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: Yeah, that's so good Mike, good.
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: Job, buddy, But it is you know what, you know
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: what changes everything? Winning, That's what changes everything. And he
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: didn't like stab a kid or kick a dog. I
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: hope he stays. But if he's gonna go talk to
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: USC a place where he probably would like to go,
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: that's not You gotta get over yourself people. I gotta
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: fight with somebody on Twitter yesterday, which I don't do
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: a whole lot. And he's like, man, if you're not
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: little at us, get the heck out of here. And
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: I'm like, first of all, he wasn't a razorback. He
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: came because a businescision. He may lead because of a
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: Busines decision. He makes the best decision for himself. And
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: he's like, I don't even want him here. If he
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: doesn't want to be here, that's the dumbest thing I
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: ever heard of my life.
- 1:21:56Speaker 5: So if he comes back, then what does that guy?
- 1:21:57Speaker 8: Do? You know?
- 1:21:59Speaker 3: What I mean? If we win, He's like, Oh, I
- 1:22:01Speaker 3: knew all along.
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: No, it's so dumb.
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: I'm going to so here we go. I'm going to
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: campus next week to teach, teaching a couple of days
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: on campus, and I think it'll be settled by then.
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: I think, muscle stay or go. May it already happened
- 1:22:14Speaker 3: by now? And then I think the new coaching search
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: starts or doesn't. But let's say it does start. That's
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: interesting because who's it going to be. Is it Chris Beard?
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: It don't Miss reportedly got an extension at all Miss
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: but hasn't signed it yet. Whatever the heck that means?
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: Is it Jerome Tang?
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: Wow?
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: At Kansas State?
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: That's our guy, that Jerome Man.
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: Didn't have a great year last year. But you really
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: can't judge it on one year because mustn't have a
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: great year last year. But Tang's only been a head
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: coach for two years, where must has had definitely.
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: A bigger But he had a great year first year
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: as a head coach.
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: So we shall see. But hopefully I'm there if they get.
- 1:22:54Speaker 5: To announce a new coach, what if they announce you
- 1:22:56Speaker 5: as a new go, hold on, hold.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: On, would you go to the press conference? Would you
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: sit at the table like behind must?
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: I mean, answer both of those. They announced me as
- 1:23:01Speaker 3: a new coach. Here's what I would do. I would
- 1:23:03Speaker 3: take I would be paid except ten grand a years
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: my salary, but they have to give the other four
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: million to me for nil money. And I'm gonna get
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: all the best players. I'm still gonna do this job.
- 1:23:15Speaker 3: So I'm still gonna be oh god, choking buy baseball cards.
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: I was like, dude, you're not taking the million, the
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: four million.
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: I'm using that to build a championship.
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: Smart smart, And then if.
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: I'm there, I'll go to the press conference. I want
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: it that. I've also been talking to the athletic director
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: a little bit. I know Hunter, you're a check pretty well.
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: We met Hunter. We were there, Yeah, I knew I
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: did them. Yeah I met Hunter, So it'll be like
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: we met him, already knewhim.
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: Go, I'm cool and Kevin and Mike and I text.
- 1:23:44Speaker 3: With him a little bit too, just kind of getting
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: the field, that lay of the land. It's amazing how
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: much respect quote finger quote you get when you're a
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: big donor.
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: Oh yeah, oh yeah, they respect you a lot.
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: Or and now that they know because we Eddie I
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: went and did that show and Hunter and I don't
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: think Hunter knew what even I know he knows him
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: on the radio, he knows whatever, podcast whatever. But Eddie
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: and I did the show in fab and we sold.
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: It out super quick. We raised money, man, and.
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: Then we gave them all the money. We'd take any
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: money raised money. And he watched the show and I
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: think it was like, oh, this is what they do.
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: Yeah, people care. It's weird, but they do.
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: And then we walk off for like I know, we
- 1:24:21Speaker 3: can't believe it either. Anyway, that's my drama right now.
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: Sports wise, I just think it'd be good if like
- 1:24:28Speaker 4: there was a press conference and I want to introduce him,
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: and you introduce him, and then you sit right next
- 1:24:33Speaker 4: to him as he says whatever he's going to say,
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: and then after he's done with that, you answered the question.
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: Just then I take questions too direct. Yeah, I would
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: do that. I would like to do that even with
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: if mustas exactly what he's saying, our new coach that's
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: been here before, and we'll take questions and then he goes.
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: But to ask him a question. You've also got asked
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: me a question after he's done.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: Correct or you don't have a question.
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: Or you don't get to ask one. Otherwise nobody cares
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: about me.
- 1:24:59Speaker 5: Very unselfish of you.
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: Thank you. Yeah, that's really on my mind right now.
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sorry. You're going through a lot right now.
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: I don't I'm getting a bit icaracy though.
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: That's a big word. You might have to define that
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: for me.
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: Are you familiar with story Vicarus? Uh, refresh my memory?
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: I probably do a refreshment memory. Chris flew too close
- 1:25:19Speaker 3: to the sun, and Chris, don't fly too close to
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: the sun. His mom said that dad maybe maybe also
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: you may see whose dad was. Oh these are gods,
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: these are Do you think somebody can just fly there?
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: Man, I don't know, said Licorice. Dad liquor Is told
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: the son Liquor like, don't fly, don't.
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: Fly so high, don't fly too close to the sun.
- 1:25:44Speaker 3: He got too close to the situation close son, and
- 1:25:47Speaker 3: his wings melted and he fell and died. Oh man,
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: So where I don't want to get too close to
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: the sun is I don't want to get too close
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: close close to the program because if I don't like
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: somebody like a coach or luckily right now I'm good
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: like a coach or athletic director. I don't want to
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: have to feel differently about the program because of a
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: personal situation. Yeah, so I tried to be I try
- 1:26:07Speaker 3: to make it an inicuracy situation. Good is zus' Dadalus?
- 1:26:13Speaker 3: Are we sure that's not Justus's nickname?
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: Like the bar daddy Dedalus?
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: So Dadalist said Chares, don't fly too close to the sign,
