- 0:18Speaker 2: is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website for deals
- 0:22Speaker 2: bya Toyota dot Com.
- 0:26Speaker 3: All right, we are back, No open nothing, We'll just
- 0:30Speaker 3: get right to it.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Just get right to it.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Oh, it's it's the Tuesday after the Sunday that wasn't.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Oh my goodness, it's Paul, let's do seven. We'll be
- 0:43Speaker 3: by and yeah, we're gonna talk about it. We got
- 0:46Speaker 3: to get it out of our system. Patriots lose Super
- 0:50Speaker 3: Bowl sixty just wasn't meant to be. Wasn't meant to be.
- 0:55Speaker 3: We got there, but we just couldn't finish it. And
- 0:59Speaker 3: Satt'll see, Hawks are the champions and they should be
- 1:02Speaker 3: and they deserved it.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Ye with a better team for the full sixty minutes. Yep,
- 1:06Speaker 2: absolutely so.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Some speechless say speechless, I.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Don't know which way to go now. I'm gonna go
- 1:13Speaker 4: the positive way for I mean, what a season, what
- 1:15Speaker 4: a season? I mean, before we get into the Super
- 1:17Speaker 4: Bowl of it all, I was definitely disappointed. I was
- 1:20Speaker 4: sitting amongst Seahawks fans. It was a whole different experience
- 1:23Speaker 4: for your Boyduce, not being in the press box again,
- 1:25Speaker 4: not having Paul and Evan to talk to throughout the game.
- 1:30Speaker 4: But after about twenty minutes after the loss, I just
- 1:34Speaker 4: was what a thrill ride. This was, how much personality
- 1:37Speaker 4: this team had, how much this team got along. It
- 1:41Speaker 4: was just so fun. And last week was just such
- 1:43Speaker 4: a culmination of all that. I know the game wasn't,
- 1:46Speaker 4: but all of the events and as people dug further
- 1:49Speaker 4: and further into this team and external media sources got
- 1:53Speaker 4: familiar with this team and how special this team was.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Like the Seahawks were awesome and I don't know if
- 1:57Speaker 4: anybody's going to stop them this year, but that doesn't
- 2:00Speaker 4: get in the way of just a phenomenal Patriots season.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Congratulations to everybody who put this team together and competed
- 2:06Speaker 4: on the field. It was It was so much fun.
- 2:08Speaker 3: I suppose if you're gonna lose a Super Bowl, that's
- 2:10Speaker 3: the way to do it.
- 2:10Speaker 5: Fred I said the exact same thing, Like it was
- 2:13Speaker 5: such a different feeling, like like the Philadelphia one, and
- 2:16Speaker 5: like the whole post game is like where was Malcolm Butler,
- 2:19Speaker 5: why didn't you play or you know this call you
- 2:21Speaker 5: know goes this way that way, and you know the
- 2:24Speaker 5: catch by type, none of that.
- 2:26Speaker 2: This was kind of none of that for this one.
- 2:27Speaker 2: So it was different.
- 2:28Speaker 5: And I think we're gonna, you know, be hearing from
- 2:32Speaker 5: Mike Vrabel momentarily. Hopefully we'll get a chance to see
- 2:37Speaker 5: what he has to say. We did get in the
- 2:39Speaker 5: locker and Mike and I this morning, the players sort
- 2:42Speaker 5: of packing up and getting started on their offseason, bounced around.
- 2:46Speaker 5: Did hear from Drake May again? He said, no surgery,
- 2:51Speaker 5: just like kind of catching up on some news Newsy items.
- 2:54Speaker 5: He said, he will not need surgery on the shoulder.
- 2:58Speaker 5: Just feels like rest. We'll take care of it. Will
- 3:01Speaker 5: Campbell did speak. I know some of our fans probably
- 3:05Speaker 5: aware that he did not speak after the super Bowl.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Apologize for that and.
- 3:15Speaker 5: Just kind of said, you know, I was very emotional
- 3:18Speaker 5: coming off of a performance like that. He took a
- 3:21Speaker 5: lot of ownership of his own performance. So we have
- 3:24Speaker 5: Rabel now.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Rank for Abel, we get some audio.
- 3:40Speaker 5: Yeah, So again I thought Campbell was was really good
- 3:43Speaker 5: today and you know, sort of apologizing for not speaking
- 3:47Speaker 5: the other day, and you know took ownership of his
- 3:50Speaker 5: performance that I wasn't good enough. I'm the fourth overall pick.
- 3:53Speaker 5: I'm I'm a highly paid player, and I deserve to
- 3:56Speaker 5: have people criticize.
- 4:00Speaker 6: You make additions to it, and we'll try to do
- 4:03Speaker 6: that to this football team. I like the foundation of it,
- 4:06Speaker 6: and we'll try to improve on it.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Like we downtime or you just dive right into the offseason.
- 4:15Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm sure there'll be some you know, get the
- 4:17Speaker 6: coaches out of here. I'm sure there'll be some time.
- 4:19Speaker 6: And you know, it's all part of it. And I
- 4:22Speaker 6: think we're so embedded in it you don't look and
- 4:24Speaker 6: see that today's February tenth. And I think for the
- 4:27Speaker 6: most part, we focused on it's today at Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday,
- 4:31Speaker 6: we play a Sunday, So we got into that routine
- 4:35Speaker 6: and never really noticed or paid attention to what the
- 4:39Speaker 6: actual date was. So I'm sure we'll take a little
- 4:43Speaker 6: bit of time and then we'll have to have to
- 4:45Speaker 6: continue on with the player evaluation and combine and all
- 4:50Speaker 6: those things.
- 4:51Speaker 7: It was such a.
- 4:52Speaker 6: Special team culture wise, personality wise.
- 4:57Speaker 7: The changes are inevitable.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Sad it's difficult to wrap your head around and when
- 5:02Speaker 1: you've been in the business for a long time, like
- 5:04Speaker 1: it's gonna.
- 5:04Speaker 6: Be uh yeah, I don't know if that's difficult today,
- 5:09Speaker 6: you know. I mean, there'll be some difficult decisions that
- 5:11Speaker 6: we'll have to make and uh we'll try to do
- 5:14Speaker 6: 'em with the with the team's best interest in mind,
- 5:17Speaker 6: and it as always that'll never change, you know.
- 5:21Speaker 7: Appreciate what they did and how they.
- 5:23Speaker 6: Came together and all the guys that came in from
- 5:26Speaker 6: other places that maybe didn't start the year with us, and.
- 5:30Speaker 7: The different path and a different journey than each guy took.
- 5:34Speaker 8: What here has to have the game if the Super
- 5:37Speaker 8: Bowl experience will be a valuable one for you guys
- 5:39Speaker 8: said go, only be valuable.
- 5:41Speaker 2: If we understand what we need to do to improve.
- 5:43Speaker 9: Having had the chance to reflect on a little bit.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Do you know what now when you need to do
- 5:47Speaker 2: to be sure after this?
- 5:49Speaker 7: No, not right now.
- 5:50Speaker 6: I don't think that this is this is the time
- 5:53Speaker 6: to to go into those I mean, just still try
- 5:57Speaker 6: to uh enjoy the season and enjoy seventeen wins and
- 6:01Speaker 6: the opportunity to coach these guys and you know whatever
- 6:05Speaker 6: that looks, it looks like, but you know, we'll know
- 6:08Speaker 6: we'll continually have to improve. Reflect upon the first Super
- 6:13Speaker 6: Bowl I played in and was able to win and
- 6:15Speaker 6: failed to make the playoffs next year, So we know
- 6:17Speaker 6: how difficult this is.
- 6:19Speaker 7: I won't won't be easy and never will be. So
- 6:24Speaker 7: we'll have a plan. No, that's okay.
- 6:27Speaker 10: Want to come to your coaches that you've been Zach
- 6:29Speaker 10: wors staying as if asive coordinator.
- 6:32Speaker 2: How do you think things work out?
- 6:34Speaker 6: Yeah, there'll be a lot of things that we'll have
- 6:35Speaker 6: to work through there, Mark, we'll have to work through
- 6:38Speaker 6: you know, tease, teas healthy and been given you know,
- 6:44Speaker 6: a release to to be back and be back at work,
- 6:47Speaker 6: and so again I'll work through all those things here
- 6:50Speaker 6: in the next you know, a couple of days, weeks,
- 6:54Speaker 6: however long those decisions make or may take.
- 6:58Speaker 7: Mike, you knows, you just use the words we know
- 7:01Speaker 7: how hard this is? Usually those three words, we know
- 7:04Speaker 7: how hard?
- 7:06Speaker 11: What you thought about this team when you first took
- 7:08Speaker 11: the job, training camp, this team meet expectations or past
- 7:12Speaker 11: expectations or.
- 7:13Speaker 6: Every time you guys ask me about my expectations, I say,
- 7:16Speaker 6: I try not to have any so that I'm not disappointed.
- 7:19Speaker 7: But I would say that they.
- 7:22Speaker 6: Now that we're done, probably exceeded expectations. I think we
- 7:27Speaker 6: Probably the biggest thing is I think we learned how
- 7:30Speaker 6: to win. I think you have to learn how to
- 7:32Speaker 6: win in this league. You have to understand sometimes they're pretty,
- 7:36Speaker 6: sometimes they're not. Sometimes you have to come from behind,
- 7:39Speaker 6: Sometimes you have to make a stop late defensively, sometimes
- 7:43Speaker 6: you have to make a kick. And sometimes they're you know,
- 7:47Speaker 6: easier games where things are going right and you're turning
- 7:49Speaker 6: punts for touchdowns and defensive touchdowns and you know everybody's
- 7:54Speaker 6: having a big pizza party. So but we learned how
- 7:57Speaker 6: to win in different ways, and I think that that's
- 7:59Speaker 6: important in this league.
- 8:01Speaker 7: Have you rewatched the game yet? Yeah? Watched it. Yeah.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Are there are any occasions where you say, you know,
- 8:08Speaker 1: I wish we did this light and see that.
- 8:10Speaker 6: Well, I mean, I think that's the same case in
- 8:12Speaker 6: every game. I wish we would have blocked this guy.
- 8:14Speaker 6: I wish they wouldn't have moved. I wish we would
- 8:17Speaker 6: have called a different coverage for what they did. I wish,
- 8:20Speaker 6: I wish they wish, But you know, it doesn't go
- 8:23Speaker 6: that way. We none of us did it enough to
- 8:26Speaker 6: to you know, put ourselves in a position to win
- 8:30Speaker 6: a game, you know, early on I think you know,
- 8:32Speaker 6: however that went, and we had chances, we put a
- 8:35Speaker 6: drive together, installed, we hit a twenty yard play, and
- 8:38Speaker 6: installed we gained eight yards on first down, and find
- 8:41Speaker 6: a way to not convert a first down. And there's
- 8:46Speaker 6: a lot of things where you know, we we had
- 8:49Speaker 6: chances on a quarterback, and if we make those sacks,
- 8:52Speaker 6: maybe the ball comes out, maybe we intercept the ball
- 8:57Speaker 6: instead of them catching it. You know, maybe Marcus makes
- 9:01Speaker 6: that interception. As close as that is. That's that's how
- 9:04Speaker 6: this game goes.
- 9:05Speaker 7: Like I wanted to ask you about Will Campbell, and
- 9:08Speaker 7: I think because.
- 9:09Speaker 4: When he was coming out of the draft, some teams
- 9:12Speaker 4: viewed him as a guard, others viewed him as a tackle.
- 9:16Speaker 4: His I guess his season has been looked at h
- 9:20Speaker 4: and scrutinized.
- 9:22Speaker 7: Just like everybody's hays, you know what I mean.
- 9:23Speaker 6: Like, that's what you ad when you sign up to
- 9:25Speaker 6: play left tackle, you sign up to play corner, you
- 9:28Speaker 6: sign up to play quarterback, you sign up to be
- 9:29Speaker 6: the head coach. Uh, you get judged, you get scrutinized. Yeah,
- 9:33Speaker 6: well he's twenty two years old. He's our left tackle.
- 9:35Speaker 6: He'll get better, He'll get stronger. Moments where he played well,
- 9:40Speaker 6: moments where he blocked the guy. You know, there's plays
- 9:45Speaker 6: he'd like to have back. We're not We're not moving
- 9:47Speaker 6: well to guard or the center or the tight end
- 9:50Speaker 6: or anywhere else.
- 9:53Speaker 7: So I don't what to tell you.
- 9:55Speaker 6: Like, who do you guys hope what do you hope
- 9:58Speaker 6: to your team because you didn't finish the job?
- 10:01Speaker 7: What do you hope they learned from that? How hard
- 10:04Speaker 7: it is to win a championship? You know what I mean,
- 10:08Speaker 7: how hard it is.
- 10:09Speaker 6: To to finish, you know, the season, to be at
- 10:14Speaker 6: your best, uh in the in the biggest and brightest moments.
- 10:20Speaker 6: But you have to start over. So things starts over
- 10:23Speaker 6: in ten weeks. The off season program starts in ten weeks.
- 10:27Speaker 6: That's how I look at this. And you know, when
- 10:30Speaker 6: I said that to him, they kind of looked at
- 10:32Speaker 6: me like I was crazy. But that's the reality of it.
- 10:37Speaker 6: We have a group of guys who played a lot
- 10:38Speaker 6: of football. We have a lot of guys that didn't
- 10:40Speaker 6: play a lot of football. And as I was taught
- 10:46Speaker 6: to talk about the business of the NFL, the businesses,
- 10:51Speaker 6: we have a We're looking for the better, younger, cheaper
- 10:55Speaker 6: player every day and the players that we have are
- 10:58Speaker 6: trying to not let that happen. And that's the dynamic
- 11:01Speaker 6: and that's the business of the National Football League. Spoon
- 11:05Speaker 6: said they saw and tells from guards and tackles on
- 11:09Speaker 6: fast rusher sets.
- 11:10Speaker 7: Were you able to see anything that you was talking about?
- 11:15Speaker 6: I mean, there's that tell is there every week where
- 11:20Speaker 6: a guy's stance is a little different, and you.
- 11:23Speaker 7: Know what I mean, like we did the whole s
- 11:26Speaker 7: went the whole season.
- 11:27Speaker 6: Morgan Moses was in the same stance when we threw
- 11:29Speaker 6: the ball, and we threw it pretty good. And you know,
- 11:33Speaker 6: s when we run it, guys try to be in
- 11:36Speaker 6: the same stances. We wanna try to be as consistent
- 11:38Speaker 6: as we possibly can. You know, I think on some
- 11:42Speaker 6: down and distances guys can be in two point stances.
- 11:47Speaker 6: We have certain rules for you know, in there in
- 11:50Speaker 6: third down or if you're on the open side, you're
- 11:53Speaker 6: away from a tight end, and you know, I think
- 11:56Speaker 6: that those things are pretty consistent.
- 11:57Speaker 7: And you know it, there were moments where they knew
- 12:03Speaker 7: we were gonna throw the ball.
- 12:04Speaker 6: And I don't know, you'd have to give me the
- 12:06Speaker 6: exact idea of when the nickel we were throwing it,
- 12:11Speaker 6: feeling just what.
- 12:15Speaker 7: Your first year in New England has.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Said and what it's done to you.
- 12:20Speaker 6: Well, I mean, I think just the support since we
- 12:21Speaker 6: first got here, not only from Robert and Jonathan, but
- 12:25Speaker 6: the entire organization of just everybody buying into what it
- 12:32Speaker 6: was that we wanted to do. Some of the changes,
- 12:35Speaker 6: some of the things that remained the same. I appreciate that.
- 12:38Speaker 6: I know change is always sometimes difficult. The fans, the community.
- 12:43Speaker 6: I thought, you know, coming back here and seeing twenty
- 12:48Speaker 6: people here last night, I know it doesn't sound like
- 12:51Speaker 6: a lot, but you know, when you had a tough day,
- 12:54Speaker 6: I thought that was pretty cool to see the people
- 12:56Speaker 6: standing out here last night in the cold, waiting waiting
- 12:59Speaker 6: for us to come back, just to welcome us back. So,
- 13:03Speaker 6: you know, we gave our fans a lot to cheer about.
- 13:05Speaker 6: Certainly not satisfied with, you know, not finishing the season
- 13:11Speaker 6: with a championship, but I think we gave him a
- 13:15Speaker 6: lot of things to be hopeful about, and the cheer
- 13:17Speaker 6: about and those environments that they created and the playoffs
- 13:21Speaker 6: was special.
- 13:22Speaker 7: Is it any more beneficial from.
- 13:23Speaker 6: A roster building standpoint to have gone through this playoff
- 13:26Speaker 6: run seeing how your team matches, hoping it's from the
- 13:28Speaker 6: top competition in the league and where the margin for
- 13:30Speaker 6: ERIC can maybe be increasing with more I mean we
- 13:34Speaker 6: when I can only play who they let us play,
- 13:35Speaker 6: and I guess being able to evaluate your team against
- 13:39Speaker 6: the top talent is always something that's important. We try
- 13:45Speaker 6: not to focus too much on on who the opponent is.
- 13:48Speaker 6: It's what we need to do to try to win
- 13:50Speaker 6: each week. But you know, I think that that's a
- 13:52Speaker 6: good measuring stick to say, well, these guys are really
- 13:55Speaker 6: good defenses, or this is how you you know you need.
- 13:59Speaker 7: To be able to do these certain things to win.
- 14:02Speaker 6: I think we have an idea, but then you know,
- 14:06Speaker 6: once you play the better teams, all those things get magnified.
- 14:10Speaker 9: Over the course of this season.
- 14:11Speaker 12: You mentioned mugiple times, like finding the right player and foster.
- 14:15Speaker 13: The relationship and then evaluating the players skill might be straightforward.
- 14:21Speaker 14: You can look at the staffs or the field and
- 14:23Speaker 14: the tape, but.
- 14:23Speaker 8: How do you know like the personality and the characters
- 14:26Speaker 8: off of those.
- 14:27Speaker 15: Players and you evaluate.
- 14:28Speaker 6: Them well, I think that that's a great question to
- 14:32Speaker 6: be able to you know, there's no test at the
- 14:35Speaker 6: combine to measure away you know, heart and fortitude and
- 14:43Speaker 6: competitive spirit. They don't have tests for those types of things.
- 14:47Speaker 6: So it's you know, we have to put it upon ourselves,
- 14:50Speaker 6: our coaching staff, our scouts, our personnel staff to be
- 14:53Speaker 6: able to identify the right type of people.
- 14:56Speaker 7: You have to you have to.
- 14:58Speaker 6: Be talented and you also have to have a certain
- 15:02Speaker 6: makeup that when things are tough, which they are, they
- 15:06Speaker 6: will be tough during the season during the game, that
- 15:10Speaker 6: we find a way to uh to persevere like liberally.
- 15:14Speaker 5: Probably would you know about any changes to the coaching
- 15:18Speaker 5: staff and do.
- 15:18Speaker 9: You expect that.
- 15:21Speaker 6: There's always gonna be change. I don't know when I
- 15:23Speaker 6: would expect those. I just try to focus on the season.
- 15:28Speaker 6: Met with the players this morning, will continue to meet
- 15:30Speaker 6: and visit with coaches and we'll kind of go from there.
- 15:35Speaker 1: A year ago, what is the biggest difference with the
- 15:38Speaker 1: New England Patriots between last year and this year?
- 15:41Speaker 7: As your map up like the last year meaning the
- 15:44Speaker 7: one we just had from from.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Your start date to now, the biggest difference in the
- 15:49Speaker 1: building the culture where the team is at right now.
- 15:58Speaker 6: I mean there's yeah, I mean we, Like I said,
- 16:00Speaker 6: I feel like we learned how to win. I think
- 16:02Speaker 6: that they believe that what we're.
- 16:05Speaker 7: Doing is.
- 16:09Speaker 6: Try to help them be better players, be better teammates,
- 16:14Speaker 6: be better parents, be better husbands.
- 16:20Speaker 16: I don't know.
- 16:21Speaker 6: I hope that they care about the relationships in this
- 16:24Speaker 6: building and that it's not transactional. We know that there's
- 16:27Speaker 6: going to be transactions that take place, but you know,
- 16:32Speaker 6: I hope that they know that we have their best
- 16:35Speaker 6: interests in mind. And you know, we may disagree, but
- 16:39Speaker 6: I think that there's a level of respect there to.
- 16:44Speaker 7: Call you nothing.
- 16:46Speaker 6: Taking the day off super Bowl hangover, I appreciate you, guys.
- 16:51Speaker 6: I don't know how many guys I got to see
- 16:53Speaker 6: or people that I got to see.
- 16:55Speaker 7: After the game, but I want to thank you.
- 16:58Speaker 6: Thank you for covering us, thank you for the care
- 17:01Speaker 6: that you gave a lot of these stories.
- 17:03Speaker 7: And again we are fully understanding where judged. We are.
- 17:09Speaker 6: Questioned like that's your job, that's what you guys are
- 17:12Speaker 6: here for. But appreciate the respect that you gave us,
- 17:15Speaker 6: gave me, gave our team, gave our organization. So look
- 17:19Speaker 6: forward to seeing you guys in April maybe or whenever
- 17:23Speaker 6: I have to talk to you again. I know it's
- 17:25Speaker 6: at the combine. I'm just kidding. Happy birthday to Stacey too,
- 17:28Speaker 6: his birthday. Yeah, you guys gonna sing happy birthday when.
- 17:36Speaker 7: Quick.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Well, that's a wrap on the twenty twenty five season.
- 17:41Speaker 3: Mike Rabel with his closing press conference, and that's possibly
- 17:45Speaker 3: the last time we'll see that room. Yeah, because the
- 17:48Speaker 3: next time he'll be doing a press conference should be
- 17:51Speaker 3: from the new Patriots Training Center.
- 17:52Speaker 4: It's right, so that as we were walking out of
- 17:54Speaker 4: the locker room today, although I know they'll be back
- 17:56Speaker 4: here for game day, so right, there will still be
- 17:58Speaker 4: use of the auditorium in those things, but yeah, open
- 18:01Speaker 4: locker room, media center.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Yeah, going to change.
- 18:03Speaker 3: All that stuff's going to change next next year.
- 18:06Speaker 2: All right.
- 18:07Speaker 3: So any thoughts on what he had to say, No
- 18:10Speaker 3: good stuff.
- 18:11Speaker 4: I mean, I just I that last question. I think
- 18:13Speaker 4: they established the culture, they established a program here, and
- 18:16Speaker 4: they certainly have a group of players returning who are
- 18:19Speaker 4: going to believe in the process. But there's no carryover.
- 18:22Speaker 4: That's the thing that you know, they got to rebuild
- 18:24Speaker 4: right from the bottom again. And you know, I love Rabel.
- 18:26Speaker 4: I think he did a great job this year. It
- 18:28Speaker 4: might be a little bit easier next year because he
- 18:30Speaker 4: has some players who already know what the expectations are,
- 18:32Speaker 4: and you have some players to lead the way and
- 18:34Speaker 4: help set examples without needing to be told right from
- 18:37Speaker 4: the get go. So I'm I'm just you know, right now,
- 18:40Speaker 4: I'm just so excited to get into the offseason and
- 18:42Speaker 4: get into rebuilding this team. And you know, no one
- 18:45Speaker 4: expected this, and it's easy to yeah, we'll get into
- 18:47Speaker 4: the super Bowl and all the you know, plays that
- 18:49Speaker 4: they missed and frustrations we have with the team. But
- 18:52Speaker 4: I can't help it start this whole show off without
- 18:55Speaker 4: saying I feel really great at this franchise in the
- 18:58Speaker 4: direction they're headed, and how excited I like they kept
- 19:01Speaker 4: saying we'll be back, We'll be back. I don't see
- 19:02Speaker 4: it as we'll be back in the super Bowl. I
- 19:04Speaker 4: see it as we're going to be back as a
- 19:05Speaker 4: competitive team next year. It's going to get harder. Teams
- 19:08Speaker 4: are going to want to play them harder, and they're
- 19:10Speaker 4: going to need to build and to get better at
- 19:12Speaker 4: this offense.
- 19:12Speaker 5: And you saw the amount of holes they had. Yep,
- 19:14Speaker 5: like that, that's what everybody keeps saying. I can't believe
- 19:17Speaker 5: they made it this far and this was such an
- 19:20Speaker 5: amazing season. And that's true, and this is why, because
- 19:23Speaker 5: it's amazing that they were able to establish a culture.
- 19:27Speaker 5: And I thought the one thing that really stood out
- 19:29Speaker 5: to me was Mike Grabel saying, we learned how to win,
- 19:32Speaker 5: and that's not easy. The twenty twenty five Patriots had
- 19:35Speaker 5: tremendous culture. We'll see what the twenty twenty six team has.
- 19:38Speaker 10: You know.
- 19:39Speaker 5: That's why I liked your point Mike about that, Like,
- 19:41Speaker 5: you know, it's not something that carries over. You have
- 19:44Speaker 5: to bottom, you have to re identify, you know, re
- 19:46Speaker 5: establish it going forward, you know.
- 19:48Speaker 3: And they'll have some money to spend, and I know
- 19:51Speaker 3: they're going to be drafting low, but you know a
- 19:54Speaker 3: lot of picks though.
- 19:55Speaker 2: That right, what doesn't mean that you can't draft good guys.
- 19:59Speaker 2: I was giving a little I was after the game.
- 20:01Speaker 3: I was talking with No Socks and he's like, what
- 20:03Speaker 3: I heard about this next year? It is you know
- 20:06Speaker 3: it's gonna be a tougher schedule and how the teams
- 20:08Speaker 3: are going to improve. Yeah, but I said, why can't
- 20:12Speaker 3: we improve too?
- 20:13Speaker 2: Like, why can't we get better?
- 20:14Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 20:15Speaker 3: Why are we already writing off twenty twenty six because
- 20:18Speaker 3: the schedule's going to be tougher. I'm not right now,
- 20:21Speaker 3: I still think we can win the AC East like
- 20:24Speaker 3: and then you're in the playoffs.
- 20:25Speaker 5: I'll give you the line that I that I annoy
- 20:27Speaker 5: Patriots fans with what the constantly the last four or
- 20:30Speaker 5: five years when they want to keep telling me how
- 20:32Speaker 5: bad Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City is and how bad
- 20:34Speaker 5: Buffalo and Josh Allen. When you have a good quarterback,
- 20:38Speaker 5: you are always a contender. The Patriots have that.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Now.
- 20:42Speaker 5: The Patriots will be a contender next year because they
- 20:45Speaker 5: have Mike Rabel and Drake May and then how they
- 20:48Speaker 5: fill in those holes around it will tell you how
- 20:51Speaker 5: much of a contender they'll be. But they will be
- 20:53Speaker 5: in the mix because you have those key ingredients.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Right right, So so I'm not I'm not dreading next
- 21:00Speaker 3: year because it's going to be a tougher schedule, and
- 21:01Speaker 3: on paper right now it is. It's a it's a
- 21:05Speaker 3: tougher schedule, but I think we're going to be better too.
- 21:08Speaker 4: I mean, it's just going to be a lot. I
- 21:10Speaker 4: don't want to they got to go to Seattle next year.
- 21:12Speaker 2: I mean that game will already like, let's get well
- 21:14Speaker 2: the bills.
- 21:15Speaker 5: If we just can't schedule so of the bills, I
- 21:18Speaker 5: can't imagine you're going to have, you know, all the
- 21:21Speaker 5: things that fell into place for you again next year.
- 21:24Speaker 4: But it's gonna be harder.
- 21:25Speaker 2: But you have, like, you have so much going for you.
- 21:29Speaker 5: You have a young team, you had Key you know,
- 21:33Speaker 5: I know we haven't talked about the game yet, but
- 21:35Speaker 5: like there's a young guy that I think has gotten
- 21:37Speaker 5: unbelievably better down.
- 21:39Speaker 2: The stretch, who played a whale of a Super Bowl.
- 21:42Speaker 2: What's it right?
- 21:43Speaker 7: You know?
- 21:44Speaker 5: So you have these these young guys that are playing
- 21:46Speaker 5: bigger and bigger roles as you go, Like, that's what
- 21:49Speaker 5: you that's that's the kind of development. I know that
- 21:51Speaker 5: people were disappointed because some of the other rookies seem
- 21:54Speaker 5: to maybe hit a wall a little bit, or they
- 21:56Speaker 5: have play leveled off down the stretch, including Drake May
- 22:00Speaker 5: not a rookie but a young guy. Yeah, but there
- 22:03Speaker 5: were some other younger guys that that really stepped up.
- 22:06Speaker 4: And I'm glad you brought up with Whatson for Paul.
- 22:08Speaker 4: I thought he was excellent. And you know, I think
- 22:11Speaker 4: November December, I remember talking on the show. Is he good?
- 22:14Speaker 4: Like he's playing a lot, a lot of plays, and
- 22:18Speaker 4: then all of a sudden in the playoffs you start
- 22:19Speaker 4: to see this rookie safety making plays all over the place.
- 22:22Speaker 4: He was outstanding in the super Bowl. Walking into the
- 22:24Speaker 4: post game party, there were about like three four people
- 22:27Speaker 4: with all woods and jerseys on, and I'm like, that's
- 22:28Speaker 4: got to be his family. I just said, hey, Woodson
- 22:31Speaker 4: balled out today. Thanks man, appreciate it. I said it
- 22:33Speaker 4: to him today as well in the locker room. That
- 22:35Speaker 4: to me might be the most exciting takeaway the whole playoffs, that.
- 22:37Speaker 3: Whole defense, the way they played for most of the game.
- 22:40Speaker 3: I mean, you can only hold on for so you
- 22:41Speaker 3: can only hold on for so long. They played really,
- 22:43Speaker 3: really well. And Gonzo I think might have had his best,
- 22:46Speaker 3: one of his best games, two brilliant plays. He's going
- 22:50Speaker 3: into his fourth year yea.
- 22:52Speaker 4: On his fifth year off.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Well do you just say, listen, let's just extend him now,
- 22:56Speaker 3: can do that?
- 22:57Speaker 2: I think you have to do that.
- 22:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I think he's the priority. And I say, a
- 23:01Speaker 4: legit edge rusher, be it Max Crosby or somebody else,
- 23:03Speaker 4: those are the biggest priorities. For me of big spending
- 23:06Speaker 4: and investing, Yeah, those are two spots to start.
- 23:09Speaker 2: I don't know how you do it, you know.
- 23:11Speaker 5: And I haven't really looked at the free agent lists,
- 23:14Speaker 5: and I know there's not a ton, but I think
- 23:16Speaker 5: they need a number one.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Wide receiver too.
- 23:18Speaker 5: But you know, in terms of it's just in terms
- 23:23Speaker 5: of a big ticket item, like I don't think that
- 23:24Speaker 5: will be cheap. Now, you could opt to try to
- 23:27Speaker 5: get a young one. You you could opt to draft one,
- 23:30Speaker 5: you know, the bottom of the first round.
- 23:32Speaker 2: I don't know. Again, I haven't we just got home.
- 23:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I haven't dealt into any I think I think
- 23:37Speaker 3: when it comes to the draft, you know, other than
- 23:39Speaker 3: the quarterback, we're back to best player available. I mean,
- 23:42Speaker 3: I really don't think that there's one place where you
- 23:44Speaker 3: can say, oh, they couldn't use an upgrade.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:46Speaker 3: I think you can use an upgrade everywhere. And if
- 23:49Speaker 3: there's a guy that's obviously the best player at a position,
- 23:53Speaker 3: I think you got to take them, you know.
- 23:55Speaker 5: But it is another one of the super Bowl itself
- 23:57Speaker 5: is another one of those cliches everybody talked about last year.
- 24:00Speaker 5: You know, the Eagles just just you know, dominated on
- 24:03Speaker 5: both sides of the line, and you know, I was
- 24:05Speaker 5: I was a little I mean, the Patriots offense obviously
- 24:08Speaker 5: had its struggles throughout the postseason, so I wasn't overly
- 24:12Speaker 5: surprised that that happened on offense. I was surprised that
- 24:15Speaker 5: the Patriots could not stop the run.
- 24:17Speaker 9: In this game.
- 24:18Speaker 5: I did not expect. I didn't anticipate. I would have
- 24:21Speaker 5: thought if, if, if Seattle was going to win this
- 24:23Speaker 5: game fairly easily, then Sam Donald would have had one
- 24:26Speaker 5: of his better games.
- 24:26Speaker 2: He didn't. He was pretty average.
- 24:29Speaker 5: I thought he missed a lot of easy throws that
- 24:31Speaker 5: were wide open. I thought he was laid on a
- 24:33Speaker 5: lot of throws, and then a couple of times they
- 24:36Speaker 5: had he was victimized by drops.
- 24:38Speaker 2: But the run. I was not expecting Kenneth Walker to.
- 24:41Speaker 3: Be that What was his numbers in the first half,
- 24:44Speaker 3: ninety four yards him?
- 24:47Speaker 5: I thought he had ninety four yards in the first half,
- 24:49Speaker 5: and he finished with what was it.
- 24:52Speaker 2: One thirty five? Yeah, five yards, five yards, But.
- 24:55Speaker 3: They weren't letting him in the end zone, you know,
- 24:58Speaker 3: so like that was the kind of game you're like, okay,
- 25:01Speaker 3: you know, you get a couple sevens, trade them for threes.
- 25:04Speaker 3: That's the way you wanted to go. But the offense
- 25:07Speaker 3: just didn't do its part. No, it didn't do its part.
- 25:10Speaker 3: And every Super Bowl that I've ever watched since I
- 25:13Speaker 3: was a kid, where one team dominates another, it's because
- 25:15Speaker 3: their line dominates, and their defensive line dominated our offensive
- 25:20Speaker 3: line and we just couldn't do anything. Super Bowl forty two,
- 25:23Speaker 3: I mean that to me, That's what I was watching
- 25:25Speaker 3: it everything. It's when Denver beat Carolina. It's the when
- 25:29Speaker 3: my old Denver team would lose. It's because their line
- 25:33Speaker 3: got dominated by some by some NFC team. That's that's
- 25:39Speaker 3: when you get these lopsided Super Bowls, when you lose
- 25:43Speaker 3: the trenches badly.
- 25:44Speaker 4: When we were on Radio Row, Mike Rees said something
- 25:46Speaker 4: that I was kind of disappointed. I hadn't really thought
- 25:48Speaker 4: about enough, and he said, pointed out the veteran leadership
- 25:52Speaker 4: on that defensive line, the DeMarcus Lawrences of the world,
- 25:55Speaker 4: the Leonard Williams, the guys that had been around for
- 25:58Speaker 4: a while. And maybe it was over simplifying it, but
- 26:01Speaker 4: when he said those things, I'm like, those guys are
- 26:03Speaker 4: gonna come to play, and the rookies and old Morgan
- 26:06Speaker 4: like you know, the old lineman and the new lineman,
- 26:08Speaker 4: they all had to play up to that level and
- 26:10Speaker 4: they couldn't. And it's it's not all that surprising. Remind
- 26:13Speaker 4: me of someone of the Patriots defense when you just
- 26:15Speaker 4: had a bunch of dudes who have been here, they
- 26:18Speaker 4: are here to win a Super Bowl. This is their time.
- 26:20Speaker 4: These veterans, they get they were outstanding. You know, what
- 26:22Speaker 4: are you gonna do?
- 26:23Speaker 3: Yep, hi Evan, Hello, how you doing?
- 26:27Speaker 2: Okay? Yeah? Just okay? Yeah? Have you come to grips
- 26:31Speaker 2: with it?
- 26:32Speaker 3: Are you still trying to figure this out?
- 26:36Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 26:36Speaker 14: It's not even so much about the result of the game.
- 26:39Speaker 17: I just like going to the combine in two weeks
- 26:41Speaker 17: like this is like I had never done this one before,
- 26:45Speaker 17: so this will be fun. Uh quick turnaround and you know,
- 26:49Speaker 17: a lot to digest from the game and then a
- 26:51Speaker 17: lot to get to moving forward.
- 26:54Speaker 2: But that'll help, it'll help you get back into it.
- 26:58Speaker 17: Honestly, you don't have any time to well on it.
- 27:00Speaker 17: I'm not dwelling on it too much. I mean, like
- 27:03Speaker 17: when you lose to a better team, there's not much
- 27:05Speaker 17: really to dwell on.
- 27:06Speaker 14: And that's what we saw.
- 27:08Speaker 17: So I mean there are some things that certainly, I
- 27:10Speaker 17: thought the Patriots didn't do very well in this game
- 27:13Speaker 17: that was uncharacteristic of them. That was disappointing. I would say. Offensively,
- 27:21Speaker 17: they just had no plan for pressure whatsoever, which was
- 27:26Speaker 17: very frustrating to watch back yesterday where they're bringing the
- 27:30Speaker 17: same nickel blitz over and over again and they just
- 27:32Speaker 17: aren't blocking it over and over again, and you're just like,
- 27:35Speaker 17: how could it Josh McDaniels coordinated offense get beat by
- 27:39Speaker 17: the same scheme four or five six times.
- 27:43Speaker 14: Defensively, they missed eighteen tackles in this game.
- 27:48Speaker 17: There's like four or five opportunities behind the line of
- 27:50Speaker 17: scrimmage to sack Sam Darnold that Milton Williams and Jalen
- 27:54Speaker 17: Hawkins and guys just missed.
- 27:56Speaker 14: So I thought offensively there was a mess defense.
- 28:00Speaker 17: They there are plays there to be made, and they
- 28:03Speaker 17: were making them the first three playoff games, and they
- 28:05Speaker 17: just didn't make them on Sunday. You know, plays that
- 28:08Speaker 17: could have flipped the game potentially in their favor. You know,
- 28:11Speaker 17: Chase On you know, gets free off the edge and
- 28:14Speaker 17: it's just a split second too late and Donald's arms
- 28:18Speaker 17: moving forward. So that's an incomplete pass instead of a fumble.
- 28:21Speaker 17: But against Houston or against you know, Denver, that's it.
- 28:25Speaker 17: That's has been a strip sack and and those are
- 28:27Speaker 17: the types of plays that might maybe would have turned
- 28:30Speaker 17: the tide.
- 28:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I hear that, And I do think that there
- 28:35Speaker 3: were defensive plays. I saw those mistackles. I saw guys
- 28:39Speaker 3: flash by Donald and just miss them.
- 28:41Speaker 2: But I think I just can't put it on the defense.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Oh no, no, no, no, defense punted the first eight times you
- 28:49Speaker 2: had the ball, right, you got it, you got it.
- 28:53Speaker 14: I didn't think they played well on either side.
- 28:55Speaker 5: Of the I don't think they played as well as
- 28:57Speaker 5: the defense is getting credit for.
- 29:00Speaker 17: Christian Gonzales and Craig Woodson played at Woodson was unbelievable
- 29:03Speaker 17: in this game and in the I think there were
- 29:06Speaker 17: two specific pass breakouts by Gonzales that were just extraordinary.
- 29:11Speaker 5: Now that said, I think they were both on Donald.
- 29:14Speaker 5: I think Donald had a guy and I'm not even
- 29:16Speaker 5: telling you Gonzalez got beat. I think the slant to
- 29:19Speaker 5: JSN and the goal line was just Laton behind him
- 29:23Speaker 5: and unbelievably athletic dive and pass breakup on the deep ball,
- 29:28Speaker 5: which is Shaheed that he had. That's just like, that's elite.
- 29:32Speaker 5: That's an elite breakout.
- 29:33Speaker 14: One of the best cornerback players of the season.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Just elite.
- 29:36Speaker 5: And there's there's some great I mean, I know people
- 29:37Speaker 5: don't want to see them now, but there's some great
- 29:39Speaker 5: photos of that of that play. Yeah, that's an exceptional
- 29:44Speaker 5: athlete making.
- 29:44Speaker 2: A play in space.
- 29:46Speaker 5: But but I do think Donald, like he had some
- 29:49Speaker 5: of those plays.
- 29:49Speaker 2: I kind of agree with Evan.
- 29:50Speaker 5: I think Donald was the reason that they were getting
- 29:53Speaker 5: held to three instead of getting the seven more often
- 29:56Speaker 5: than not.
- 29:56Speaker 4: Did you feel like he got sped up? Do you
- 29:58Speaker 4: feel like he No, I just feel like.
- 30:00Speaker 2: I just felt like I just felt.
- 30:01Speaker 4: Like you're just sending the zero blitz is and it's off.
- 30:04Speaker 4: But I felt like, but that's the point, you know, like, yeah,
- 30:07Speaker 4: there's going to be a guy there.
- 30:08Speaker 2: I didn't really feel like he looked like sped up
- 30:10Speaker 2: to me.
- 30:10Speaker 5: I just felt like he was just missing easy the
- 30:12Speaker 5: couple the Cooper Cup with the sticks like easy outs,
- 30:15Speaker 5: like like pitch and catch kind of throws that he
- 30:18Speaker 5: was throwing way to the outside. Maybe, I mean, maybe
- 30:21Speaker 5: maybe it was pressure. They did get pressure in this game.
- 30:23Speaker 4: No, it seemed like that was just we're going after him.
- 30:25Speaker 5: And I thought that was the one area that I
- 30:27Speaker 5: thought defensively was really good. I thought they got consistent pressure.
- 30:30Speaker 5: They just like Evan said, they weren't getting sacks.
- 30:32Speaker 14: It just as they didn't make the game change the play.
- 30:36Speaker 17: And I think that's what a lot of the players
- 30:37Speaker 17: talked about after the game on defense. It wasn't that
- 30:40Speaker 17: they felt like they were the reason why they lost
- 30:42Speaker 17: the game or anything like that, but.
- 30:44Speaker 14: They needed they left the field, they needed to.
- 30:46Speaker 17: Turn Seattle over and they weren't able to turn them over.
- 30:49Speaker 17: And they had probably three or four opportunities to do
- 30:52Speaker 17: it and they weren't able to do it. And uh,
- 30:55Speaker 17: you know, offensively, it was obviously why they lost.
- 30:59Speaker 14: But I didn't think the defense made enough plays either.
- 31:02Speaker 4: I just red zone. I mean, I was happy that
- 31:05Speaker 4: they got stops in the red zone. I mean that
- 31:06Speaker 4: was critical and that was the part of their game
- 31:08Speaker 4: that's stunk all year.
- 31:09Speaker 2: And it's one for four on paper, where it's really
- 31:11Speaker 2: kind of one for.
- 31:11Speaker 5: Six because they had a couple of other field goals
- 31:14Speaker 5: that were just outside the red zone. And again I
- 31:18Speaker 5: just put it more on Donald. I don't think Donald
- 31:20Speaker 5: was was great in this game. Yeah, and I you know,
- 31:23Speaker 5: I'm happy for I mean Patriots stuff aside, I'm happy
- 31:26Speaker 5: for his redemption story. I think sometimes these guys get
- 31:30Speaker 5: you know, the crap kicked out of them when it.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Doesn't go great for them early in their career.
- 31:33Speaker 5: And you know, guys like him and Baker Mayfield and
- 31:36Speaker 5: Gino Smith have sort of resurrected themselves and bounced back
- 31:40Speaker 5: from that. I think that's commendable. But I don't think
- 31:42Speaker 5: he played his game. Was the NFC Championship he did.
- 31:45Speaker 5: If he played like he did against the Rams in
- 31:47Speaker 5: this game, yeah, I'd.
- 31:50Speaker 17: Give a defense some credit on some of the director
- 31:53Speaker 17: of the red zone stops and stuff like that, and.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Especially especially against the run in the red zone.
- 31:59Speaker 17: Yeah, and they they were good statistically. They just you know,
- 32:03Speaker 17: Kenneth Walker had five explosive runs. You know that that
- 32:06Speaker 17: were big plays in the game on a game that
- 32:08Speaker 17: didn't have a lot of offense. You know, that's kind
- 32:11Speaker 17: of reminded me of Super Bowl fifty three with Julian
- 32:13Speaker 17: Edelman right where he was just in.
- 32:16Speaker 14: A defensive game.
- 32:17Speaker 17: He was the best offensive player in a defensive game
- 32:19Speaker 17: for either team. You know, those runs were big, but Seattle,
- 32:24Speaker 17: you know, this is one of their worst offensive performances
- 32:26Speaker 17: on like a per play basis of the season.
- 32:28Speaker 5: That's funny because Donald said that like right after the game,
- 32:31Speaker 5: like it's amazing, Like you're you're like two questions into
- 32:34Speaker 5: an on field because well, you know, we won the
- 32:37Speaker 5: Super Bowl in all, but.
- 32:38Speaker 2: We didn't play very well offensively today.
- 32:40Speaker 17: Yeah, they actually averaged fewer yards per play than the
- 32:42Speaker 17: Patriots did.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not going to get into offensive comparison.
- 32:47Speaker 5: The Patriots had about two hundred and sixty fourth quarter.
- 32:53Speaker 2: No, Xema doesn't even want that.
- 32:54Speaker 14: Makeup for how horrible the Patriots offense was.
- 32:58Speaker 17: The numbers like are not that far off, which tells
- 33:02Speaker 17: you that the Seahawks offense wasn't all that great either.
- 33:06Speaker 17: You know, I think the most frustrating part about the
- 33:08Speaker 17: Patriots offense was just I thought that there were a
- 33:12Speaker 17: handful of times.
- 33:13Speaker 14: Or there was open receivers and they just couldn't block it.
- 33:16Speaker 14: They you know, they were just either not.
- 33:18Speaker 17: Blocking it or may missed maybe four or five throws
- 33:21Speaker 17: that he'd probably want to have back. And it was
- 33:24Speaker 17: just a combination of those two things where I really
- 33:27Speaker 17: did not watch this tape and thought the receivers were
- 33:31Speaker 17: getting you know, strapped by Seattle Secondary and there was
- 33:34Speaker 17: no place to go with the ball. I mean, there
- 33:36Speaker 17: certainly were a few plays like that, but there are
- 33:38Speaker 17: a few plays like that in every single game.
- 33:40Speaker 5: The one that really frustrated me that was the third
- 33:43Speaker 5: and one and they and I was.
- 33:45Speaker 2: Like, take a shot, take a shot, take a shot.
- 33:47Speaker 5: And they did, and they had like a you know,
- 33:49Speaker 5: maybe a twenty yard completion that was there and just
- 33:53Speaker 5: missed them. Douglas was open on that play, and I
- 33:56Speaker 5: didn't think it was an overly difficult throw.
- 33:58Speaker 4: What do you think about it?
- 33:59Speaker 3: It seemed like Douglas was getting more attention this game,
- 34:03Speaker 3: like more plays going to Douglas, he was getting more reps.
- 34:07Speaker 4: Well. I saw him lined up on a memory a
- 34:09Speaker 4: couple of times, which I thought was maybe they're trying
- 34:11Speaker 4: to test test, you know, and a small, quick guy,
- 34:14Speaker 4: I mean.
- 34:15Speaker 5: Did a really good job in that wheel Road the
- 34:18Speaker 5: second player of the second half.
- 34:19Speaker 2: I think it was might have been the first play.
- 34:22Speaker 14: Pop was open the entire game.
- 34:24Speaker 5: Yeah, not on that play, which I think that they
- 34:27Speaker 5: would dial in something up coming out of the halftime
- 34:30Speaker 5: with him, and I think it was him and then
- 34:31Speaker 5: Henderson with something they they wanted to get to the edge,
- 34:34Speaker 5: and I give the Seahawks credit, they sniff sniffed both
- 34:37Speaker 5: of those out.
- 34:38Speaker 14: He threw it as the one on the back shoulder.
- 34:40Speaker 2: You mean it was down the sideline in front of
- 34:45Speaker 2: the Patriots bench.
- 34:46Speaker 17: Yeah, he drake through it as a back shoulder and
- 34:49Speaker 17: Pop tried to adjust to it. But it doesn't have
- 34:52Speaker 17: the biggest catch radios, so it just didn't happen.
- 34:54Speaker 14: But there was like.
- 34:56Speaker 17: Fot look right, there was like four or five times
- 34:59Speaker 17: on the on the film where pop Is opened deep
- 35:02Speaker 17: and they.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Just well I saw what you saw.
- 35:04Speaker 3: But what was going on with May at that time,
- 35:07Speaker 3: Like he's under pressure?
- 35:08Speaker 17: Yeah right, so like yeah, you know, but if they
- 35:11Speaker 17: were able to block it up, then I think they
- 35:13Speaker 17: would have had opportunities, you know, against even like he
- 35:18Speaker 17: ran on a sixteen yard scramble on third down in
- 35:21Speaker 17: the fourth quarter that you know, moved the chains and everything.
- 35:24Speaker 17: Pop is he's remains a thrower a little bit longer.
- 35:27Speaker 17: It's that might be a touchdown if he sees them
- 35:29Speaker 17: down the field. You know, There's a lot of that
- 35:31Speaker 17: going on. I just it was very disappointing that that
- 35:36Speaker 17: they got out coached as badly as they did on offense.
- 35:39Speaker 3: Now you say out coached just because they couldn't scheme
- 35:43Speaker 3: up protection enough or.
- 35:44Speaker 17: Yeah, I just thought that their their whole pressure plan
- 35:47Speaker 17: was out of I don't even know what it was,
- 35:50Speaker 17: to be honest with you. I mean, they there was
- 35:53Speaker 17: just too many instances where there is free runners at
- 35:55Speaker 17: may like they're they're just bringing overloading a side of
- 35:58Speaker 17: the protection. And like when you talk about blitzes and
- 36:01Speaker 17: protections and stuff, you have two kind of obvious ways
- 36:04Speaker 17: to go about it. You can either scheme up something
- 36:07Speaker 17: to throw hot and get the ball out of the
- 36:08Speaker 17: quarterback's hands by throwing behind the blitz underneath the defense,
- 36:13Speaker 17: or you can try to load up on blockers and
- 36:15Speaker 17: bring six seven guys in and try to block it
- 36:17Speaker 17: and then take shots out of blocking it that way,
- 36:20Speaker 17: because you're gonna have the one on ones on the outside.
- 36:23Speaker 17: And they just kind of were left without an either answer.
- 36:27Speaker 17: They didn't they weren't blocking it. You know, they were
- 36:30Speaker 17: sending guys down the field against blitzes and there's nobody
- 36:33Speaker 17: in the block for it. And there's three vertical routes
- 36:35Speaker 17: that he's looking at, and it's like, well, where's he
- 36:37Speaker 17: supposed to think that.
- 36:40Speaker 3: Seattle just did a really good job of disguising what
- 36:43Speaker 3: they were going to do and just doing what we
- 36:46Speaker 3: didn't think they were going to do in certain situations,
- 36:49Speaker 3: like if we if their defense did what we thought,
- 36:52Speaker 3: we would have had it blocked. But they just seemed
- 36:54Speaker 3: to be out guessing us or you know, because like
- 36:59Speaker 3: we went through this whole season and it.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Never looked that bad. Yeah, I mean, well the Texans
- 37:03Speaker 2: looked pretty.
- 37:03Speaker 4: Bad against other opponents of the Seahawks. This is kind
- 37:06Speaker 4: of what they do.
- 37:08Speaker 14: Well, yeah, I made of the best blitzing defense in football.
- 37:11Speaker 3: They are, but like teams were able to score some
- 37:14Speaker 3: points on them. I mean we I mean, let let's
- 37:16Speaker 3: face it, were they if it wasn't until the end.
- 37:18Speaker 14: Like number one we were in defense in the NFL.
- 37:20Speaker 2: They were the number one scoring defense. So the Rams
- 37:23Speaker 2: scored on him. The Rams scored on him.
- 37:25Speaker 5: They allowed thirty twice. Yeah, once the Rams want to
- 37:28Speaker 5: Tampa Bay.
- 37:29Speaker 3: Okay, I was all I wanted was in the twenties.
- 37:32Speaker 2: I don't need thirty. Well, well they don't allow twenty.
- 37:35Speaker 2: They allowed seventeen.
- 37:36Speaker 17: But it's also just you know, I would have taken
- 37:38Speaker 17: that too either way. And I you know, McDonald deserves
- 37:42Speaker 17: a lot. He's a great play caller, and he does
- 37:44Speaker 17: when to time it up. He knows when, uh, you
- 37:47Speaker 17: know where the weaknesses are and protections, you know, things
- 37:50Speaker 17: of that nature. I mean, they were just they were
- 37:52Speaker 17: just blitzing the crap out of the B gap. Like
- 37:55Speaker 17: they were just sending two guys right through the B gap.
- 37:57Speaker 17: The back can only take one, so there's just always
- 38:00Speaker 17: going to be somebody unblocked every single time. So, like
- 38:03Speaker 17: I said, you know, you just there's way there are
- 38:06Speaker 17: answers to these things that offenses have, there's tools to
- 38:09Speaker 17: solve it. Now, is that Drake may pre snap recognizing
- 38:12Speaker 17: that things are coming and getting into protections. Is that systemically,
- 38:17Speaker 17: like they're you typically a system that wants to block
- 38:20Speaker 17: it rather than throwing hot against unblocked rushers. So like,
- 38:24Speaker 17: is that a communication thing, pre snap and identification thing.
- 38:28Speaker 17: Is that flaw with the system that they need to
- 38:32Speaker 17: look at? Maybe yeah, throwing hot more because I thought
- 38:35Speaker 17: in the fourth quarter, even though it was a little
- 38:36Speaker 17: bit too late at that point, he hit Remandre in
- 38:39Speaker 17: the flat for thirteen yards. He hit Kyle Williams on
- 38:42Speaker 17: a speed out against the same pressures that they had
- 38:45Speaker 17: been bringing. So it was too late at that point,
- 38:47Speaker 17: but they did start to find some answers to it late,
- 38:51Speaker 17: So you know, that was to me was them throwing
- 38:54Speaker 17: hot against the blitzes though, and not having him try
- 38:57Speaker 17: to block it. So, like I, whatever the it is,
- 39:01Speaker 17: they didn't have one right, so you got to come
- 39:03Speaker 17: up with a better solution.
- 39:04Speaker 3: I just think the guys are better than our guys.
- 39:07Speaker 14: I mean, there's nobody there to block the guy.
- 39:09Speaker 2: I do think both things can be true.
- 39:11Speaker 5: Like you know, I wouldn't necessarily push back on Evan
- 39:14Speaker 5: saying that they didn't get out coached, because I think
- 39:16Speaker 5: they did. And I wouldn't push back on someone and say, well,
- 39:19Speaker 5: what do you expect Josh to do? The other guy
- 39:22Speaker 5: just had more talent. I think that's accurate too. Sometimes
- 39:24Speaker 5: both things can be true.
- 39:26Speaker 17: When if you're talking about the four man rushes, and
- 39:28Speaker 17: I'm with you, you have five guys, they have four,
- 39:30Speaker 17: and they're getting home with four man rushes.
- 39:32Speaker 14: That's a problem. They had an eighty six percent pressure
- 39:34Speaker 14: rate when they blitzed in this game.
- 39:36Speaker 2: Oh no, they hit.
- 39:38Speaker 5: Every single long But I also think like there was
- 39:40Speaker 5: one particular blitz that and I know Witherspoon blitz like
- 39:43Speaker 5: four or five times, and I think he got picked
- 39:44Speaker 5: up once. Those are the one, but there was one
- 39:47Speaker 5: in particular that he came and it looked like his
- 39:49Speaker 5: timing was way off and he was late, and that's
- 39:51Speaker 5: usually danger zone for the defense. But he zigzagged like
- 39:56Speaker 5: with an athleticism that I don't think there's just anybody does.
- 39:59Speaker 5: I think he a good player and has a knack
- 40:01Speaker 5: for that. I think you know, when you get into
- 40:03Speaker 5: open space like that and you find a way to
- 40:06Speaker 5: get to the quarterback and you got home.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Now. I also think.
- 40:11Speaker 5: And people don't want to talk about this, but also
- 40:13Speaker 5: something that Evan said is really true, Like some of
- 40:16Speaker 5: this stuff is on Drake.
- 40:18Speaker 2: Oh yeah, absolutely.
- 40:19Speaker 5: I thought he held the ball a little bit early
- 40:21Speaker 5: in the game, yep. And I don't think he was
- 40:24Speaker 5: seeing it quickly enough. And I do think, like like
- 40:26Speaker 5: Evan made, and I know exactly the two players you're
- 40:28Speaker 5: talking about, they got to him immediately on that little
- 40:32Speaker 5: swing to Remondre Stevenson. And again I'm dismissing the play
- 40:35Speaker 5: because of when it happened, but there were probably other
- 40:38Speaker 5: opportunities to do stuff like that that I don't think
- 40:41Speaker 5: he looked like, no, right, you know, well no, I
- 40:45Speaker 5: mean this drive chart is unbelievable.
- 40:47Speaker 2: I agree that he held the ball.
- 40:48Speaker 5: They had seventy eight yards in the first three quarters.
- 40:51Speaker 5: Like the longest drive was the first drive of the
- 40:53Speaker 5: game for twenty eight yards.
- 40:55Speaker 17: Yeah, and I got that drive though, is the drive
- 40:57Speaker 17: that was the way they had to play It was
- 40:59Speaker 17: a six yard run on first down. They got two
- 41:02Speaker 17: yards on second down and a little flat you know,
- 41:04Speaker 17: ball on the flat to Ramandre Stevenson first down and
- 41:07Speaker 17: just keep on chipping away at it.
- 41:08Speaker 14: And the other thing that I thought.
- 41:10Speaker 17: It was first outs was just bizarre was how little
- 41:13Speaker 17: they've they've featured the backs in this game. Like I
- 41:15Speaker 17: thought they were running the ball a little bit on them,
- 41:17Speaker 17: not for big plays, but I was keeping them on
- 41:20Speaker 17: schedule so that they weren't in third and fifteen, and
- 41:23Speaker 17: they were like chipping away with the run game with Remandre,
- 41:26Speaker 17: like he was grinding out some tough yards between the
- 41:29Speaker 17: tackles that were making it second and five instead of
- 41:33Speaker 17: second and fifteen.
- 41:34Speaker 2: He played Welldre.
- 41:36Speaker 17: Yeah, Henderson had a seven yard run. He had a
- 41:38Speaker 17: nine yard run on a little toss play. They ran
- 41:40Speaker 17: a nice shovel rpo shovel.
- 41:43Speaker 2: They both averaged three yards of carriage.
- 41:45Speaker 17: Yeah, but that's the team you're going up against. Like,
- 41:47Speaker 17: you're not gonna be if you get into long down
- 41:49Speaker 17: and distances against Seattle, that's when Devin Witherspoon's coming through that.
- 41:53Speaker 5: I think they were getting in some of those with
- 41:56Speaker 5: some some stuffed runs early in some of the hissions.
- 42:00Speaker 5: I just don't think they had any answers for anything
- 42:02Speaker 5: Seattle was doing.
- 42:04Speaker 2: But I don't put it like I don't know, maybe I'm.
- 42:07Speaker 5: Just too defensive of Josh, Like maybe I know I
- 42:11Speaker 5: am a little bit too.
- 42:11Speaker 4: But I think what's troubling is I mean the Witherspoon
- 42:13Speaker 4: blitzing was kind of their twist, right, Like, this wasn't
- 42:15Speaker 4: something that they did him specifically.
- 42:17Speaker 2: But they may look so they talk so much about
- 42:19Speaker 2: all the games.
- 42:20Speaker 4: That, right, but I just may look unaware of him,
- 42:24Speaker 4: unaware of him when he's coming through. He's not even
- 42:26Speaker 4: looking his way and that like, so you know, and
- 42:29Speaker 4: I just I go back to is he calling out
- 42:31Speaker 4: the right protection? Is he calling out the right mics like,
- 42:34Speaker 4: but I see the same things that you guys saw
- 42:37Speaker 4: with the blitzing, and they're blitzing him off and Pop's
- 42:39Speaker 4: got nobody on him.
- 42:40Speaker 2: You just stopped turning around.
- 42:42Speaker 3: What I love to see next year is is those
- 42:45Speaker 3: pressure beaters where when you're up against the team that
- 42:48Speaker 3: you know has the advantage getting the ball out of
- 42:52Speaker 3: your quarterback's hands, giving him options to be able to
- 42:55Speaker 3: do that.
- 42:56Speaker 2: We just don't seem to be We haven't.
- 42:57Speaker 3: Been able to do it all year.
- 42:59Speaker 2: I mean, it's it's been a problem.
- 43:00Speaker 4: It's becoming apparent what you know, when Drake's off his
- 43:03Speaker 4: game at this stage in his career, what it looks like.
- 43:05Speaker 4: And this was some of the stuff we saw in
- 43:07Speaker 4: the summer where he's drifting a little bit into pressure,
- 43:09Speaker 4: he's looking the wrong way, and Seattle seem to have
- 43:13Speaker 4: a beat on those things, and we're able to expose it.
- 43:15Speaker 17: There's a lot of, you know, pros and cons to
- 43:18Speaker 17: doing it, you know, either way. You know, a lot
- 43:21Speaker 17: of the West Coast coaches, my guy Kyle Shanahan, a
- 43:24Speaker 17: lot of those guys, they just throw hot against blitzes.
- 43:27Speaker 17: They don't worry about the quarterback trying to get up
- 43:29Speaker 17: there and be a chess master and move guys around
- 43:32Speaker 17: and protect it and all this different stuff. They just
- 43:35Speaker 17: have pre programmed hot routes within the concept, right, and
- 43:39Speaker 17: that's how they do it, you know, typically, and I
- 43:42Speaker 17: don't know one hundred percent that this is how they
- 43:43Speaker 17: do They only do it this way or that way.
- 43:45Speaker 17: But typically with McDaniels, they've always been a let's change
- 43:50Speaker 17: the play at the line of scrimmage to block it
- 43:53Speaker 17: instead of let's react to it post snap.
- 43:56Speaker 14: But when you have a twenty three year old quarterback.
- 43:57Speaker 17: Who's only in his second season, he's not Tom Brady like,
- 44:01Speaker 17: he's not going to get to the line of scrimmage.
- 44:03Speaker 17: And you know the quarterbacks that had success against Seattle,
- 44:06Speaker 17: our thirty seven year old Matthew Stafford, who can get
- 44:09Speaker 17: to the line of scrimmage and kind of get a
- 44:10Speaker 17: feel for what they're in and see the.
- 44:13Speaker 14: Right and do it that way.
- 44:15Speaker 17: So I think that Drake may plays better when he's
- 44:19Speaker 17: confident the ball's coming out.
- 44:20Speaker 3: I'd like to dictate on offense instead of react. And
- 44:24Speaker 3: you know, even if they don't bring pressure, having those
- 44:27Speaker 3: quick plays, you know, timing plays, getting the ball out
- 44:31Speaker 3: of the quarterback's hands quickly, keeps the defense on their heels,
- 44:35Speaker 3: sets up longer shots, sets up the run play. You know,
- 44:39Speaker 3: I think though that those quick, high percentage passes in
- 44:44Speaker 3: today's day and age are actually you're kind of good
- 44:47Speaker 3: run plays that set everything else up.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Well you need.
- 44:52Speaker 3: I mean, I honestly believe in what Dante Scarneki has said,
- 44:57Speaker 3: every quarterback needs his binkie, and to me, the biggie
- 45:01Speaker 3: is someone that you can always rely on to get open. Yeah.
- 45:04Speaker 4: You know, I kind of been thinking about as a
- 45:05Speaker 4: guy like Colston Loveland. I think that's the kind of
- 45:07Speaker 4: guy that, like Drake, I feel like would love a
- 45:11Speaker 4: big lane, athletic tight end with a big catch radius,
- 45:15Speaker 4: like like you know, a tight end versus Mac Collins.
- 45:18Speaker 4: I mean, to be honest, a little disappointment Collins a
- 45:21Speaker 4: little disappointed. Maybe he kind of was a tight end thicker,
- 45:25Speaker 4: but that was kind of disappointed with Hunter Henry and
- 45:27Speaker 4: I mean this playoffs and I just feel like, you know,
- 45:29Speaker 4: is this a sign he's over thirty? Hooper's a free agent,
- 45:32Speaker 4: that's a spot to me, I agree with what Paul said,
- 45:34Speaker 4: get definitely, but like there's no question they need to
- 45:37Speaker 4: probably talk about Isaiah likely a little bit this offseason.
- 45:39Speaker 4: But if you could get an elite kind of mover
- 45:42Speaker 4: with a big catch radius, somebody that Drake likes, that
- 45:45Speaker 4: that could be the big and he's he's.
- 45:46Speaker 2: Got to work on his accuracy to under pressure. A
- 45:49Speaker 2: couple of throws too, you know Hooper twice ye throws.
- 45:52Speaker 14: One of them to Hooper was a bad route, but
- 45:55Speaker 14: I don't know which one of the other.
- 45:57Speaker 2: One there was one that he was he one in.
- 45:59Speaker 14: From his own end zone was a bad and the
- 46:01Speaker 14: route was not.
- 46:01Speaker 2: Oh okay, all right, that's I think that's the one.
- 46:04Speaker 4: I'm thinking to stop just writing a little flag out.
- 46:07Speaker 2: I don't know what he's doing, all right.
- 46:09Speaker 3: Eighty five to five Pass five hundred is the hotline
- 46:12Speaker 3: podcast at Patriots dot com. Is the email address. Let's
- 46:16Speaker 3: get to it. Let's see what everyone has to say.
- 46:18Speaker 3: I'm sure everyone needs to uh get a little therapy here,
- 46:23Speaker 3: get some stuff off their chest. Let's keep it clean.
- 46:26Speaker 3: I'm only kid herms in DC. What's herm? You're first?
- 46:32Speaker 7: What's going on? Fella?
- 46:34Speaker 2: Hey?
- 46:37Speaker 18: I don't know.
- 46:38Speaker 13: I could think of so many different directions.
- 46:40Speaker 2: But we have a lot of people waiting yeah.
- 46:44Speaker 13: I guess that was disappointed in really the coaches because
- 46:46Speaker 13: it didn't seem like they were they hadn't.
- 46:49Speaker 2: Ready to play.
- 46:50Speaker 18: I mean your points to three quarters, that's that's I mean, that's.
- 46:53Speaker 13: Not really producing to win a super Bowl game. But
- 46:56Speaker 13: I guess my question is big picture and if you
- 46:59Speaker 13: guys talk about it over, I guess what positions we
- 47:03Speaker 13: need to be addressed? There is a off season or
- 47:06Speaker 13: two obviously take the next step, all.
- 47:08Speaker 3: Right, I mean, like I said, there's a lot of them.
- 47:11Speaker 3: I mean, right now everyone's focused on the line and
- 47:15Speaker 3: left tackle. So let's let's let's address the elephant in
- 47:19Speaker 3: the room is is will Campbell your left tackle for
- 47:23Speaker 3: twenty twenty six?
- 47:23Speaker 2: Forget about the twenty six Mike Rabel just told you,
- 47:28Speaker 2: But what do you think should he be?
- 47:29Speaker 7: Yes?
- 47:29Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, I do think you should be a to
- 47:33Speaker 5: give him more time, like Mike said. But also, b
- 47:36Speaker 5: you just acquired two tackles in twenty five. You drafted
- 47:39Speaker 5: one at four and you signed it free agent. And
- 47:41Speaker 5: Morgan Moses, Morgan Moses is probably going to need to
- 47:44Speaker 5: be replaced soon, sooner rather than later. If you wanted
- 47:48Speaker 5: to draft a tackle, maybe in the second round.
- 47:52Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know.
- 47:53Speaker 5: I haven't delved into this, not to it's actually not
- 47:55Speaker 5: to jump on Evans like I tackle class like it's
- 48:00Speaker 5: maybe thirty one.
- 48:01Speaker 17: I don't think you're going to draft the tackle that's
- 48:03Speaker 17: gonna be better Will Campbell at thirty one.
- 48:05Speaker 5: What I'm saying for like maybe the you know, a
- 48:07Speaker 5: potential replacement on the right side, and then you so
- 48:10Speaker 5: you you go in, you have some depth here to
- 48:14Speaker 5: fill in, and then you figure out definitively in twenty six,
- 48:17Speaker 5: if it looks the same as it did this year,
- 48:19Speaker 5: then I would be I would strongly think about making
- 48:22Speaker 5: a move for twenty seven. If you show significant improvement
- 48:25Speaker 5: this year, you know, in twenty six, then you say, great,
- 48:27Speaker 5: we were patient and we knew this guy was the
- 48:30Speaker 5: player that we drafted at four, and you go forward
- 48:33Speaker 5: with it.
- 48:33Speaker 17: I know there's gonna be a lot of questions about
- 48:35Speaker 17: needs and target players to target and stuff like that,
- 48:38Speaker 17: But I think the most important part right now is,
- 48:41Speaker 17: like what happened offensively that led them to averaging twelve
- 48:45Speaker 17: points a game less in the playoffs than they did
- 48:47Speaker 17: in the regular season. Was it just the competition was
- 48:51Speaker 17: so elite that they just got bogged down.
- 48:53Speaker 14: Was it injury? You know Campbell with his need you know,
- 48:56Speaker 14: Greig May with his shoulder, was it?
- 48:59Speaker 17: They need more talent, they need upgrades? Is it like
- 49:03Speaker 17: right like right now?
- 49:04Speaker 7: You know?
- 49:05Speaker 14: Is it system?
- 49:06Speaker 3: I want to build an offense that plans on facing
- 49:09Speaker 3: an elite defense every week, right, and you're not going
- 49:11Speaker 3: to score thirty points every week, but to have some
- 49:14Speaker 3: type of you know, plan or defense against a good defense.
- 49:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with you.
- 49:22Speaker 17: They just need to do you know, the autopsies right
- 49:24Speaker 17: now is the most important part, Like why did they
- 49:28Speaker 17: drop off so big offensively in the playoffs? And before
- 49:32Speaker 17: we start talking about moving Campbell or you know, acquiring
- 49:36Speaker 17: number one wide receivers and using a big asset on that, like,
- 49:39Speaker 17: they need to figure out what they feel like was
- 49:41Speaker 17: the main reasons that they only average sixteen points a
- 49:45Speaker 17: game in the playoffs. And I don't care who you're playing,
- 49:47Speaker 17: that's not going to be good enough, you know. And
- 49:50Speaker 17: so it didn't catch up to them until the Super Bowl,
- 49:53Speaker 17: but most likely in the future it will catch up
- 49:56Speaker 17: to them sooner than that.
- 49:57Speaker 3: I mean, if you're going to play better teams next year,
- 50:00Speaker 3: which on paper we will, it will catch up to
- 50:03Speaker 3: them sooner. So I think I think part of a
- 50:06Speaker 3: lot of it is Drake. I don't I think I
- 50:08Speaker 3: don't think he's fully baked yet. I think he still
- 50:10Speaker 3: needs time in the oven.
- 50:12Speaker 5: He had six touchdowns and four picks. Yeah, in seven fumbles.
- 50:16Speaker 4: I mean it was sacked a record NFL record twenty
- 50:18Speaker 4: one times.
- 50:19Speaker 5: Sacked twenty one times, and you know, his completion percentage
- 50:24Speaker 5: was under sixty percent four games, So you could just say, well,
- 50:28Speaker 5: postseason sometimes that's the sceiving gets a that's a four
- 50:30Speaker 5: game snapshot.
- 50:31Speaker 2: It's clock needs to speed up.
- 50:33Speaker 5: So I think Evan's point is dead on, Like, you
- 50:37Speaker 5: need to figure out why was it ess Drake.
- 50:41Speaker 2: Was it a combination of protection in Drake?
- 50:45Speaker 5: Was he not setting the right protections where the guy's
- 50:47Speaker 5: not blocked, Like there was one sack that.
- 50:50Speaker 2: Wilson just got walked right back into May.
- 50:54Speaker 5: And I also thought that was a sack that I
- 50:57Speaker 5: was really stunged that May took like that he didn't
- 50:59Speaker 5: see that walked right into his lap and then he
- 51:02Speaker 5: you know, it was like and then he gets sacked.
- 51:06Speaker 5: So it's probably a combination of a variety of things.
- 51:10Speaker 5: Evan's point is right. You need to find out the
- 51:12Speaker 5: whys that you went sixteen points basically twenty one. They
- 51:16Speaker 5: scored twenty eight, but that was a pick six with
- 51:18Speaker 5: Marcus Jones sixteen, twenty one, ten and thirteen in your
- 51:22Speaker 5: in your playoff games, and really two of those sevens
- 51:25Speaker 5: were defensive, right.
- 51:26Speaker 4: It's just no easy decisions on the offensive line and
- 51:29Speaker 4: the fact that Vrabel said Will Campbell's are left tackle.
- 51:31Speaker 4: That's the only thing I'm positive now about that team.
- 51:34Speaker 4: I love Morgan Moses to your point, Paul, can we
- 51:36Speaker 4: count on him next year? Another year older to play
- 51:38Speaker 4: every game. Michael Winn's making a lot of money. Do
- 51:41Speaker 4: they feel like he is the right value for what
- 51:44Speaker 4: they need? Garrett Bradberry was great this year.
- 51:47Speaker 2: I think I got to keep it, but he.
- 51:49Speaker 4: Got Bradberry had a tough time in this one too,
- 51:51Speaker 4: and we know he's been up and down praise for
- 51:53Speaker 4: his leadership though. And then Wilson might be the air
- 51:56Speaker 4: apparent at that so I just I'm not sure where
- 51:58Speaker 4: you start, like.
- 51:59Speaker 17: You that's a tricky part of his center because I
- 52:03Speaker 17: think the best thing to do would be to move
- 52:04Speaker 17: Jared Wilson back to center and then sign a left
- 52:07Speaker 17: guard that dude like should have been Joe Toney. It
- 52:11Speaker 17: was you know, someone that is a veteran that can
- 52:14Speaker 17: play next to Campbell and can help Campbell.
- 52:17Speaker 14: You know, through all of this type of stuff.
- 52:18Speaker 2: It's a good point.
- 52:19Speaker 17: But if you're gonna do that is Garrett Bradberry out.
- 52:23Speaker 17: Is Jared Wilson now not a starter next year? You know,
- 52:27Speaker 17: like do you make that a camp battle between two
- 52:29Speaker 17: guys that you really like and like don't want to
- 52:32Speaker 17: you know, I know it's not the boy scouts right now.
- 52:35Speaker 3: Where Jared Wilson should be in twenty twenty six.
- 52:38Speaker 17: I would hope that they see him still as a center.
- 52:41Speaker 17: I just think that his issue is his body type,
- 52:45Speaker 17: his issues against anchoring, against power.
- 52:47Speaker 14: I think he's a naturally center.
- 52:49Speaker 3: I hope that they agree or don't agree and make
- 52:52Speaker 3: and know right now this is his position. Well, I
- 52:55Speaker 3: wonder that I don't want to be finding out.
- 52:57Speaker 5: The big thing to me would be Bradbury, Like what
- 53:01Speaker 5: do they feel about bradbar.
- 53:02Speaker 2: Yep, make him a super sub.
- 53:06Speaker 14: He's only ever played center.
- 53:08Speaker 3: He's only played center. Yeah, okay, well Ben Brown's you're
- 53:10Speaker 3: super so yeah.
- 53:11Speaker 17: I just I wonder if maybe, and maybe it might
- 53:15Speaker 17: be you know, too picky in terms of type, but
- 53:18Speaker 17: like you know, there is a way that if you
- 53:20Speaker 17: can get like the right kind of left guard to
- 53:23Speaker 17: play next to Will Campbell, that that could really help
- 53:25Speaker 17: Will Campbell out a lot. You know, a guy that's
- 53:27Speaker 17: a little bit wider, that takes up a little bit
- 53:28Speaker 17: more space, it's a little stronger, you know, all those
- 53:31Speaker 17: types of things that could really help him out a ton.
- 53:34Speaker 17: But then your your musical chairs, you know at center
- 53:39Speaker 17: and with Jared Wilson, who you like and is a
- 53:41Speaker 17: player you picked high and all that kind of stuff.
- 53:43Speaker 4: Which I'm not I mean, I hate the worst diving
- 53:45Speaker 4: in the offseason. But Vadarian Lowe's a free agent, do
- 53:47Speaker 4: you re sign him? Do you go out? I mean,
- 53:49Speaker 4: I'd add a guard in the tackle that I think
- 53:52Speaker 4: have potential to start at some point, whether it's a
- 53:54Speaker 4: veteran that can come in right in a start, or
- 53:56Speaker 4: draft a rookie tackle who maybe could I want to
- 53:58Speaker 4: take that Vadarian low spot.
- 53:59Speaker 5: Maybe you got us Bryant, and I wonder what they
- 54:01Speaker 5: think of Marcus Bryant, and you know, he didn't get
- 54:04Speaker 5: any opportunities really to play I don't know if that
- 54:07Speaker 5: means he wasn't ready for them or they didn't need it.
- 54:09Speaker 5: Like I said, you had a couple of guys that
- 54:11Speaker 5: almost never play full seasons, played full seasons in Carlton
- 54:14Speaker 5: Davis and Morgan Moses. Those are two guys that are
- 54:19Speaker 5: constantly missing four games a year, and the fact that
- 54:23Speaker 5: they didn't was one of the reasons why you were
- 54:25Speaker 5: so successful.
- 54:26Speaker 2: Yeah, danny'snt Daytona. What's up? Danny?
- 54:30Speaker 19: Hey, how's it going guys?
- 54:31Speaker 20: You guys back from radio row?
- 54:33Speaker 2: I sees, yeah, we're back from radio row.
- 54:36Speaker 20: All right, I'm gonna make this quick. Evan and Paul,
- 54:40Speaker 20: you guys hit it on the nail on the coffin,
- 54:43Speaker 20: or the hit the nail on the hitd on the coffin.
- 54:46Speaker 20: I would say, this is my opinion. I'm gonna make
- 54:49Speaker 20: this click on the line. I think the whole line
- 54:52Speaker 20: should be a battle next year. What they need to
- 54:54Speaker 20: do is, like Danner Lofty stood on ESPN and several
- 54:58Speaker 20: analysts across the league were staying after the game, I
- 55:01Speaker 20: sat back and was kind of digesting a lot of stuff,
- 55:03Speaker 20: and let I put all my most inside yesterday. I
- 55:06Speaker 20: think in twenty twenty six, Mike Rabel needs to do
- 55:10Speaker 20: what Bill Beliseck did for years, making an open competition.
- 55:14Speaker 20: Will Campbell needs to fight for his spot. Uh next
- 55:17Speaker 20: year for the line and left tackle. There's whom the
- 55:20Speaker 20: guys of the Texas.
- 55:21Speaker 19: There's a guy that.
- 55:23Speaker 20: The Texans are selected in the mock draft of this
- 55:26Speaker 20: Procter guy. I think if they can get somebody at
- 55:29Speaker 20: the bottom draft. Yeah, it may not be a great
- 55:31Speaker 20: tackle last but you bring in somebody. Last year, I
- 55:33Speaker 20: think Paul brought this up in the beginning of the
- 55:35Speaker 20: season that there was no competition for Will Campbell.
- 55:39Speaker 19: He was just slated to just.
- 55:40Speaker 20: Kind of go in there and be the guy. So
- 55:42Speaker 20: next year, this coming season, you bring in competition for
- 55:45Speaker 20: Will Campbell. He has to fight in earth for a spot.
- 55:47Speaker 20: This is the National Football League. You gotta fight for
- 55:49Speaker 20: your spot and earn it. It's not given.
- 55:53Speaker 3: I think he's gonna fight for a spot regardless. It's
- 55:55Speaker 3: gonna be backups to Will Campbell. But see, I get that, like,
- 56:00Speaker 3: you know, you want everyone competing, and you know, go
- 56:02Speaker 3: into camp and make it an open competition.
- 56:05Speaker 2: I don't want to do that.
- 56:06Speaker 3: I want them to go into camp knowing who they
- 56:10Speaker 3: think is going to be the starters, and let's go
- 56:12Speaker 3: with that.
- 56:13Speaker 5: And we're also advocating for like, oh they need to
- 56:16Speaker 5: have Okay, so Venarian Lowe wasn't deemed enough competition for well,
- 56:22Speaker 5: there aren't enough tackles in the league as it is.
- 56:24Speaker 5: Like now the Patriots are going to have like a
- 56:26Speaker 5: starting caliber tackle that's going to push Will Campbell.
- 56:30Speaker 2: Like they just used the fourth overall pick on a tackle.
- 56:33Speaker 2: That's why I would not advocate moving him to guard
- 56:35Speaker 2: right now. I think he's probably going to end up there.
- 56:38Speaker 5: If you're asking me, put my hand on a bible
- 56:40Speaker 5: and tell you what I think. I think he's going
- 56:42Speaker 5: to end up as a guard. But I wouldn't do
- 56:44Speaker 5: it now. I would see it through. You took the
- 56:47Speaker 5: fourth overall pick, make sure make sure before you move it.
- 56:50Speaker 5: We talked to Robert Gallery last week right as one
- 56:53Speaker 5: of our one of our many guests. I'm sure you
- 56:56Speaker 5: guys all enjoyed a lot of those guests. Number two
- 56:59Speaker 5: overall pick in the draft was considered a generational.
- 57:03Speaker 2: Blue ship prospect. Blue Ship. He spent two years two
- 57:07Speaker 2: three years at tackle before he became a guard. It happens,
- 57:12Speaker 2: I mean sometimes it happens. You know, you don't want.
- 57:15Speaker 2: No one wants that to be the case. But if
- 57:18Speaker 2: he ends up.
- 57:18Speaker 5: Being a good guard, uh or even an elite guard,
- 57:22Speaker 5: is that better than being sort of a run of
- 57:24Speaker 5: the mill tackle.
- 57:25Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 57:26Speaker 5: I mean, Mike Grabel might say, no, it's more valuable
- 57:28Speaker 5: to have a serviceable tackle than an elite guard. And
- 57:31Speaker 5: if that's what they feel, I'm not the football games
- 57:34Speaker 5: that's what they are.
- 57:35Speaker 17: I mean, especially with the supply and demand, right, Like,
- 57:37Speaker 17: you know, it's easy, much easier to find playable guards,
- 57:40Speaker 17: and no one has tackles to play tackles. But I
- 57:42Speaker 17: would just say, like, the line played bad in the
- 57:45Speaker 17: Super Bowl, full stop, but let's.
- 57:47Speaker 2: Not it's it was.
- 57:48Speaker 17: Let's not overreact and act like the line was in
- 57:51Speaker 17: complete shambles all season. Like the line got a lot
- 57:54Speaker 17: better this year compared to last year, certainly, and was
- 57:58Speaker 17: basically above league average for the majority of the season
- 58:01Speaker 17: until they hit the playoffs. So to now overreact to
- 58:05Speaker 17: the Super Bowl and say they need all sale changes
- 58:09Speaker 17: on the offensive line, I just would be careful with
- 58:12Speaker 17: doing that off of just one game that was admittedly bad.
- 58:15Speaker 3: Alex Is in San Diego what's up, Alex, Hey, what's up?
- 58:20Speaker 4: Guys?
- 58:20Speaker 19: Welcome back. This feels a lot different than twenty seven,
- 58:25Speaker 19: twenty eleven, twenty seventeen, because I felt like those games
- 58:28Speaker 19: just was like a well, if like something went different,
- 58:30Speaker 19: like we could have won, right, you know, we.
- 58:33Speaker 2: Didn't have any of that. This we need to get
- 58:34Speaker 2: a hot ripped out this time.
- 58:38Speaker 19: Yeah, But anyway, I just think moving forward, I think
- 58:41Speaker 19: this team really needs to get younger. I love the
- 58:44Speaker 19: free agents, but they're getting older. And I know it's
- 58:46Speaker 19: something we've talked a lot on the show, but we
- 58:48Speaker 19: really need to build through the draft. I know you
- 58:50Speaker 19: just like you talk with Morgan Moses getting up there
- 58:52Speaker 19: in age Garrett Bradberry's thirty Elliott Wolf had a great
- 58:56Speaker 19: draft in twenty five, but twenty four not so much.
- 58:59Speaker 19: So I really think this next draft is going to
- 59:01Speaker 19: be huge. But anyway, I'll take it off the line.
- 59:03Speaker 3: Okay, thanks Alm Picks. Yeah, I mean I said this earlier.
- 59:07Speaker 3: If you're going to lose in the Super Bowl, this
- 59:08Speaker 3: is the way to lose, because like you were, you
- 59:10Speaker 3: were dominated. You know what, there was no there was
- 59:13Speaker 3: no like last minute. Oh my god, if we could
- 59:15Speaker 3: only have done this, we would have won.
- 59:17Speaker 2: No, I mean I would.
- 59:19Speaker 5: I would offer the slightest of Homer views at twenty
- 59:24Speaker 5: two to seven.
- 59:25Speaker 2: They got the stop, they got the ball, and your way,
- 59:27Speaker 2: they could have it was nineteen. If they can go
- 59:30Speaker 2: to and score here, maybe it was nineteen.
- 59:32Speaker 4: I'm trying to think about the then question when they
- 59:36Speaker 4: got that first touchdown, were you surprised they didn't go
- 59:38Speaker 4: for two?
- 59:39Speaker 7: Or what?
- 59:39Speaker 2: You gotta light it?
- 59:40Speaker 5: You got to light me up now, Sorry, we can
- 59:41Speaker 5: get that up. We've talked about this. I think they
- 59:44Speaker 5: got the two point conversions backwards. I would have gone
- 59:47Speaker 5: for two, win the first one, and I would have
- 59:48Speaker 5: kicked the second one.
- 59:49Speaker 17: I didn't think they managed the game as well at all,
- 59:51Speaker 17: to be honest with you, Yeah, I just I.
- 59:55Speaker 4: Couldn't talk about this stuff with all the Seahawks fans
- 59:57Speaker 4: that we're around. But you know what I loved about
- 59:59Speaker 4: the Super Bowl. The only people that like this Super
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: Bowl were Seahawks, man, because everybody else was bored out
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: of their minds.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: Well, I can't blame.
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: Them, so just real quick, Freddy, especially when the Patriots
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: are in it's it's.
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: An amazing game.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: When the Patriots scored it was nineteen seven, so it's nineteen.
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: That's eight, eight and three. That's the way I would
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: look at it. So you score if you can get eight.
- 1:00:21Speaker 5: Now I can get eleven. I can get eight and three.
- 1:00:24Speaker 5: If I miss it, I still need two touchdowns to
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: take the lead. Right, So it's not like I cost
- 1:00:30Speaker 5: myself anything in terms of touchdown. I don't need three touchdowns.
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: If I don't get it, I still need two touchdowns.
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: I would be down thirteen instead of twelve. I don't
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: see much of a difference between thirteen and twelve. The
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: second touchdown, they make it twenty nine to thirteen, and
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: at sixteen if you kick it there and make it
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: fifteen again, that's only one two point conversion you need
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: to tie. Potentially, they opted to go for two, and
- 1:00:59Speaker 5: now what foshes you if you don't get it to need.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: Two twos to tie? It was like back to the
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: Falcon the Falcon super Bowl. You need two touchdowns? Two twos?
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: Were they major things in the game. No, but I
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: would have I would have done it.
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: The opposite was sitting up there and like what thinks
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: about that?
- 1:01:16Speaker 17: I just wanted to put any sort of game pressure
- 1:01:18Speaker 17: on Sam Darnold and they just never got there. When
- 1:01:21Speaker 17: they made it nineteen to seven, and then they got
- 1:01:23Speaker 17: the stop. I was like, a score here would at
- 1:01:25Speaker 17: least make him feel Oh.
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: Yeah, that fumble at that point was the pick.
- 1:01:32Speaker 14: I think it was the pick. Pick yeah, and and
- 1:01:34Speaker 14: the pick.
- 1:01:34Speaker 17: You know, he almost threw a pick three plays earlier
- 1:01:38Speaker 17: on the same thing where he just eaving it up
- 1:01:40Speaker 17: and it's one.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: Of the best throws of the night.
- 1:01:42Speaker 5: It turned out to be he threw into like an
- 1:01:44Speaker 5: unbelievable defensive team meeting. It was like, yeah, and then
- 1:01:48Speaker 5: the next play was his best throw, the touchdown to Hollins.
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: But that that play to Hollins that got him down
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: there was like, I can't believe that didn't get intercepted.
- 1:01:56Speaker 14: Yeah, I couldn't help, but.
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: Think about you know, with it wasn't going great, but
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: when you had Tom Brady, you knew that at some
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: point he was gonna start playing good. And like you
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: just had that confidence that and and then you realize
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: you're like, Drake hasn't done that yet, Like you know,
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: you like twenty eight to three, and.
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: You're like, let's put it this way, Like someone had
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: asked me, I didn't put this on air. Obviously someone
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: had asked me about the nod, Like, in my mind,
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: the nod came really early in this game. But if
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: Tom Brady was playing, it wouldn't have wouldn't have been
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: the same.
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:02:24Speaker 14: Yeah, when it was nineteen to seventy through the pick,
- 1:02:26Speaker 14: like I just.
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: Was, he was that was probably the finality.
- 1:02:31Speaker 17: He was trying like he was trying to get twelve
- 1:02:33Speaker 17: points in one drive, and like they were.
- 1:02:35Speaker 14: They got off their own goal line.
- 1:02:37Speaker 17: They had been chipping away a little bit at it right,
- 1:02:39Speaker 17: a couple of dump offs to Stevenson, a scramble, and
- 1:02:42Speaker 17: then he just started going for broke and I was like,
- 1:02:45Speaker 17: just making nineteen fourteen and see what happens, Like there's
- 1:02:47Speaker 17: still nine minutes left in the game.
- 1:02:51Speaker 14: It just was not a good game. They just did
- 1:02:53Speaker 14: not play well.
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: All right, We'll take a break when we come back.

- 1:04:57Speaker 15: I think you can use it as a learning experience
- 1:04:59Speaker 15: and experience that you have a chance to, you remember
- 1:05:02Speaker 15: for the rest of my career, the rest of my life.
- 1:05:04Speaker 15: And it's a chance to you'll battle back for something
- 1:05:08Speaker 15: that didn't go your way or you wish would have
- 1:05:10Speaker 15: gone different, and give you fuel.
- 1:05:12Speaker 9: To to remember that.
- 1:05:14Speaker 15: And and that's what you give me, something to work for.
- 1:05:16Speaker 15: I think, something for this team to work for, in
- 1:05:17Speaker 15: this organization and these coaches. And you know, we came
- 1:05:20Speaker 15: up short and every went love the last two playing
- 1:05:24Speaker 15: at the same time. So it's it's hard to you know,
- 1:05:26Speaker 15: really reflect on it. You know this this early, but
- 1:05:29Speaker 15: you'll know from the kind of the quick you know, twenty.
- 1:05:31Speaker 9: Four or forty eight hours.
- 1:05:33Speaker 15: It has been that you know, we left it all
- 1:05:36Speaker 15: out there, I know that, and we came up short
- 1:05:37Speaker 15: and you didn't execute or play how we wanted to.
- 1:05:39Speaker 15: But there's a lot of teams, there's a lot of
- 1:05:41Speaker 15: things that this team did well and we can use
- 1:05:43Speaker 15: it down the road. Is you know, we get back
- 1:05:46Speaker 15: in OTAs or get back in training camp, like what
- 1:05:49Speaker 15: could be the difference or what can we do a
- 1:05:51Speaker 15: little extra?
- 1:05:53Speaker 9: What could I do you know in the quarterback room?
- 1:05:55Speaker 9: What can we do in the quarterback room a little more?
- 1:05:57Speaker 15: Uh, you'll find answers and you know to make the
- 1:05:59Speaker 15: throw or two to make those plays in those situations
- 1:06:03Speaker 15: that you know, kind of change the out to come
- 1:06:04Speaker 15: in the game.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: Thanks for coming in first of all time to us
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: and making the time to rest.
- 1:06:09Speaker 15: Yeah, the last year was a little bit different case
- 1:06:12Speaker 15: just with uh compredit this year just the coaches and stuff.
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: So, you know, looking ahead physically, I think one of
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: the questions just where are you physically in terms of
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: can you say like you won't need any surgery or
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: anything going forward to set yourself up for the off
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: season to help.
- 1:06:31Speaker 15: Yeah, just get some time off, your time off. Your
- 1:06:34Speaker 15: time is the best healer, and you know, definitely just
- 1:06:37Speaker 15: need time off.
- 1:06:37Speaker 9: You know, nothing that.
- 1:06:40Speaker 15: You know needs any thing to be done, just some
- 1:06:43Speaker 15: time away and time to you'll get some rest and
- 1:06:47Speaker 15: it's just time away from football.
- 1:06:50Speaker 22: Drake.
- 1:06:50Speaker 10: How good do you feel just about the foundation that
- 1:06:52Speaker 10: you guys said this season and what that does for
- 1:06:54Speaker 10: be looking forward?
- 1:06:55Speaker 15: Yes, coaches, then in the in the in the squad meeting,
- 1:06:59Speaker 15: just what we kind of the star we set you
- 1:07:01Speaker 15: know for this for this city, for this fan base,
- 1:07:04Speaker 15: you know, kind of got them, got them back, get
- 1:07:07Speaker 15: some energy.
- 1:07:08Speaker 9: Back in the city.
- 1:07:09Speaker 15: I think that's what you know, we talked about in
- 1:07:11Speaker 15: the quarterback room all year long about you know, turning
- 1:07:13Speaker 15: the city back up, and you know, I think we
- 1:07:16Speaker 15: did that. I think you felt that this year. You
- 1:07:17Speaker 15: felt that at you know, you know on Sunday, you know,
- 1:07:20Speaker 15: in the game and you know we're at the the
- 1:07:22Speaker 15: biggest game on the highest level, and you know, the
- 1:07:26Speaker 15: Pats they said we were back. But you know, we
- 1:07:28Speaker 15: came up a little short. But sometimes it happens, and
- 1:07:30Speaker 15: sometimes you know, you do whist things would have gone different.
- 1:07:33Speaker 15: But I can't say hav any regrets besides not making
- 1:07:36Speaker 15: you a few extra more plays and few extra throws
- 1:07:39Speaker 15: in that game.
- 1:07:39Speaker 7: Was your biggest takeaway after watching.
- 1:07:41Speaker 9: The Yeah, I think we just lost.
- 1:07:44Speaker 15: I think they made more plays than we did and
- 1:07:46Speaker 15: they were the better team on Sunday, and you know
- 1:07:48Speaker 15: they deserve to win.
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: And we just.
- 1:07:52Speaker 9: You know, we couldn't.
- 1:07:54Speaker 15: Speaking for myself, couldn't get you enough going on offense,
- 1:07:57Speaker 15: you know, to help our team.
- 1:07:58Speaker 11: Wind you talk about with Karen and they have also
- 1:08:02Speaker 11: a duck this year about learning and take you away
- 1:08:05Speaker 11: from the Super bo Bowl, but from the year as
- 1:08:07Speaker 11: a whole, from what you learned this year, what you
- 1:08:10Speaker 11: take from this year to help you going forward.
- 1:08:15Speaker 15: I think, first off, just what a what a long
- 1:08:17Speaker 15: journey it is, you know, to get to that game
- 1:08:19Speaker 15: and you as many you know, bumps or bruises or
- 1:08:22Speaker 15: you know, time you spend or how long it's field.
- 1:08:25Speaker 15: It's it's really you know, it's it's worth it when
- 1:08:27Speaker 15: you are in that game and you have a chance
- 1:08:30Speaker 15: to to win Super Bowl, and I think that's what
- 1:08:32Speaker 15: you do it for.
- 1:08:32Speaker 9: And it's really hard.
- 1:08:33Speaker 15: To make it seem like, you know, the games behind
- 1:08:36Speaker 15: don't matter, you know, but that's really the case.
- 1:08:38Speaker 9: When you get to that stage, the games behind.
- 1:08:40Speaker 15: You know, they the twenty other games that we played,
- 1:08:42Speaker 15: and they really you know, it felt like the last
- 1:08:46Speaker 15: one is one that really mattered.
- 1:08:47Speaker 9: And I think that's what you kind of learned about.
- 1:08:49Speaker 15: That's what you go to work for and improve and
- 1:08:51Speaker 15: try to not try to stay at the same level
- 1:08:54Speaker 15: you're coming in the next year and try to act like, man,
- 1:08:56Speaker 15: we're here and we're fine.
- 1:08:57Speaker 9: We just need to keep doing what we're doing.
- 1:08:59Speaker 15: You got to elevate, and you know teams are going
- 1:09:01Speaker 15: to be you're looking at you know, what we did,
- 1:09:03Speaker 15: how we you improved so quickly, and and how we
- 1:09:06Speaker 15: you know, want a division and on the A f
- 1:09:09Speaker 15: C and a lot of the great things. So teams
- 1:09:11Speaker 15: are gonna try to you'll have a bulls eye on
- 1:09:14Speaker 15: us to try to you'll stop us. So we gotta
- 1:09:16Speaker 15: you not try to be complacent and know that your
- 1:09:19Speaker 15: teams are gonna be chasing us, and we've got to
- 1:09:20Speaker 15: try to chase chase the Seahawks.
- 1:09:24Speaker 11: Will Campbell's depends.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: I know you guys have such a like rach Off, just.
- 1:09:30Speaker 11: What's this first season bend like?
- 1:09:32Speaker 21: Playing with them?
- 1:09:33Speaker 15: Yeah, it's you know, it's a pleasure of going out
- 1:09:36Speaker 15: there with Will, you know every time. I know, I
- 1:09:39Speaker 15: know it's probably been a long year for for the rookies,
- 1:09:41Speaker 15: your long year for Will, a long year for these
- 1:09:44Speaker 15: guys to get adapted to you'll play in the NFL,
- 1:09:47Speaker 15: and I think Will is you know, a great case
- 1:09:49Speaker 15: of you know, somebody who's experienced it all. You experience,
- 1:09:52Speaker 15: you know, ups and downs, you know, injury side of it,
- 1:09:54Speaker 15: the long the long times we get gotta you don't
- 1:10:00Speaker 15: want to talk to the media, but you have to.
- 1:10:02Speaker 15: Or either the expectations of a first round pick. I
- 1:10:05Speaker 15: think he's dealt with so much this year it's gonna
- 1:10:07Speaker 15: it's only gonna be great for him in the future.
- 1:10:10Speaker 15: He's gonna be a great player in this league. Already
- 1:10:11Speaker 15: has a great player in this league. And I look
- 1:10:13Speaker 15: forward to, you know, getting back in you see him
- 1:10:15Speaker 15: in the off season, hanging out with them, and get
- 1:10:17Speaker 15: back in the US. You know, you know, I love Will,
- 1:10:19Speaker 15: and you know I'll look forward to playing with him
- 1:10:22Speaker 15: for a long time.
- 1:10:22Speaker 10: Will do you have.
- 1:10:25Speaker 11: Like what's your off season that looked like this year
- 1:10:28Speaker 11: perhaps compared to last.
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: Year, Like you have any uh, you know.
- 1:10:32Speaker 7: Playing to kind of chill and then get.
- 1:10:34Speaker 15: Back to it or yeah, I can't say too much.
- 1:10:40Speaker 15: You know this this off season, I gotta I got
- 1:10:43Speaker 15: a wife. Now, we got a beautiful wife. So know
- 1:10:47Speaker 15: I look forward to, uh, you'll spend this off season
- 1:10:49Speaker 15: with my wife, and that's kind of my first thought.
- 1:10:55Speaker 9: That's gonna be the highlight of my off season. I
- 1:10:57Speaker 9: can tell you that.
- 1:11:00Speaker 21: Any think about you know, you kind of mentioned towards
- 1:11:02Speaker 21: the end when you're talking talking about the shoulder that
- 1:11:04Speaker 21: it is just you know, kind of a long season,
- 1:11:06Speaker 21: you know, just sort comes with that.
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: Is there anything you learn in terms of like how
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: to prepare, how to take care of you take care
- 1:11:13Speaker 4: of your course of long season you might.
- 1:11:14Speaker 7: Be able to use their streating thing.
- 1:11:17Speaker 15: I mean, I feel like my arm was feeling feeling
- 1:11:20Speaker 15: great all year. I don't think throwing really was the
- 1:11:23Speaker 15: instance from my arm. I think it's you know, a
- 1:11:25Speaker 15: case of you're having them. One you know, hit in
- 1:11:29Speaker 15: the NSC Championship game that was just kind of unfortunate
- 1:11:31Speaker 15: and unfortunate timing and unfortunate kind of what Uh just
- 1:11:35Speaker 15: like I said, the timing of it, and you know,
- 1:11:37Speaker 15: the two weeks was was great to have off, to
- 1:11:39Speaker 15: have a chance.
- 1:11:40Speaker 9: To be out there and be out.
- 1:11:43Speaker 15: There for my guys, And yeah, I mean you can't
- 1:11:46Speaker 15: you know, blame things on injuries. You know, things happened
- 1:11:48Speaker 15: like this all the time in the league. It was
- 1:11:49Speaker 15: was blessed this year, what year of you know, you know,
- 1:11:53Speaker 15: health and blessings for me this year. You can't you know,
- 1:11:56Speaker 15: stone it on one little thing on the shoulder. So
- 1:12:01Speaker 15: this is unfortunately it happened to be throwing one. But
- 1:12:03Speaker 15: at the same time, you know I could have prevented
- 1:12:05Speaker 15: it or or you'll make more plays. You know, I
- 1:12:09Speaker 15: was feeling like I was able to make throws in
- 1:12:11Speaker 15: the game and was myself so nothing that, yeah, have
- 1:12:15Speaker 15: any thing really just much else to say about that drag.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: No might be to flight talking down, But where do
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: you feel like you made the most strikes the season
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: where you Josh McDaniel's working with Ashton Grant and are
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: there any things in soft season did you feel like
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: you're going to hold.
- 1:12:27Speaker 7: In on early? Yeah?
- 1:12:28Speaker 15: Really, you know, felt like my rookie year in this
- 1:12:31Speaker 15: I mean my rookie year. You know, I was in
- 1:12:32Speaker 15: the virtu year in this offense. You know, I was
- 1:12:34Speaker 15: the first full time starter had a chance to you
- 1:12:37Speaker 15: learned so much from a great offensive coordinator, and Ashton
- 1:12:40Speaker 15: has been awesome with just kind of relaying the new
- 1:12:44Speaker 15: connection between this the past offense that he was in with,
- 1:12:46Speaker 15: you know, the Browns that we had later last year,
- 1:12:48Speaker 15: and just translating it and now he's in our own
- 1:12:50Speaker 15: terminology and kind of building the foundation of his offense.
- 1:12:52Speaker 15: There's so much you'll more can you'll take this offense
- 1:12:55Speaker 15: and you know, give me more tools and more. You'll
- 1:12:59Speaker 15: just answer the line of scrimmage and I think, you know,
- 1:13:01Speaker 15: with my capability to you'll play the position and and
- 1:13:05Speaker 15: kind of use my knowledge of the game and learn
- 1:13:07Speaker 15: it from coach, you know, to get us in the
- 1:13:08Speaker 15: best spot is only going to help us down the road.
- 1:13:10Speaker 15: And just try to get our guys in the offensive
- 1:13:13Speaker 15: room and get me to that level where I'm able
- 1:13:15Speaker 15: to operate, you know, on the field in a game
- 1:13:17Speaker 15: like manner, you know, to to accomplish those things. So
- 1:13:19Speaker 15: I'm looking forward to it, you know, getting a chance
- 1:13:21Speaker 15: to being the your Lord willing and knock on wood,
- 1:13:24Speaker 15: you know, the same offense for for the second year.
- 1:13:26Speaker 15: That looks I'm looking forward to that. I think, you know,
- 1:13:29Speaker 15: the sky's limit for us. We got a lot of
- 1:13:30Speaker 15: great players in that room, in that locker room, and
- 1:13:33Speaker 15: I think, you know, it's gonna be fun to get
- 1:13:34Speaker 15: a chance to you'll find out, Hey, what maybe these
- 1:13:37Speaker 15: few things Drake you need to you'll really focus on,
- 1:13:40Speaker 15: you know, maybe eliminate from your game, or you know,
- 1:13:43Speaker 15: know what plays you you don't take a sack on,
- 1:13:45Speaker 15: or knowing when we're across the fifty, you know, try
- 1:13:47Speaker 15: not to have negative plays.
- 1:13:48Speaker 9: I think you know a little things like that, and you.
- 1:13:50Speaker 15: Know, areas of the offense where you can take us
- 1:13:52Speaker 15: to the next level and coach can kind of give
- 1:13:54Speaker 15: me some tools and we work on. You're trying to
- 1:13:56Speaker 15: find that next level. So I'm looking forward to that,
- 1:13:58Speaker 15: and that's what keeps you going.
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: And now great moments in history.
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: Why the Patriots never blew anybody out of the Super
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: Bowls has always been a mystery to me.
- 1:14:13Speaker 5: I think they kind of low key one that you know,
- 1:14:16Speaker 5: I never felt like Evans says that he never had
- 1:14:19Speaker 5: any fear of losing the game against France.
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: I never had any fear of losing. That's exactly.
- 1:14:25Speaker 5: I had fear of going to Pittsburgh in THEFC Championship game,
- 1:14:28Speaker 5: and I know what the score ended up being. But
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: that game to me was the Super Bowl. I never
- 1:14:33Speaker 5: had any fear. I thought that the Patriots did not
- 1:14:35Speaker 5: play particularly well in the first half of that game.
- 1:14:38Speaker 5: The second half they asserted their dominance. They got a
- 1:14:40Speaker 5: ten point lead with whatever it was three minutes left.
- 1:14:44Speaker 5: Ye Eagles got to know by the way touchdown at
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: the end.
- 1:14:47Speaker 14: That's a perfect comparison exactly.
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: How I never felt that game was in doubt. Yeah,
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: I didn't feel fear it myself.
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: Yeah, you were thinking you were at that one for
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: oh god, yeah, come on, Oh that was the one
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: Pop didn't get to go to.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: All right back here and Patriots Unfiltered eighty five to
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: five Pats five hundred is the Hotline podcast at Patriots
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: dot com is the way to email address. Obviously, we're
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: going over the Super Bowl and the twenty twenty five season,
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: but we're also looking ahead to twenty twenty six a
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: little bit.
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: What would we need to do? Draft is coming up?
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: The combine is coming up in what ten days or
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: something like that.
- 1:15:31Speaker 4: We'll be there two weeks, two weeks from right now,
- 1:15:33Speaker 4: we'll be there two weeks from yesterday.
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: Yeah, so you know as Bill would. I was saying,
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: you know, we're a little behind. We're all over yea,
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: we are all a little behind.
- 1:15:41Speaker 4: We all we No, that's dead.
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: Never mind, Nah, what's what's going to be our slogan
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: next year? We need more?
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: We were walking me and morel we're walking out And
- 1:15:52Speaker 4: I was just like it was all they had and
- 1:15:53Speaker 4: it wasn't enough.
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: All right, back to the phones we go. Let's go
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: to Brandon in Pennsylvania. What's up Brandon?
- 1:16:08Speaker 10: Hey, guys, Hey, happy to be on the show.
- 1:16:14Speaker 22: Yeah.
- 1:16:14Speaker 10: So obviously I've been listening to you know what you
- 1:16:17Speaker 10: guys are talking about trying not to overreact as a fan,
- 1:16:21Speaker 10: But I have to I have to disagree with what
- 1:16:26Speaker 10: was said earlier about not to overreact about the offensive
- 1:16:30Speaker 10: line play in the playoffs, because I know I know
- 1:16:34Speaker 10: where they were ranked throughout the regular season. But ultimately,
- 1:16:39Speaker 10: like Evan said, we have to build this team in
- 1:16:43Speaker 10: the off season as if we're going against a top
- 1:16:46Speaker 10: defense every week. And I think the playoffs exposed a
- 1:16:49Speaker 10: lot of holes in our team.
- 1:16:52Speaker 14: So Brandon, what what what would you do?
- 1:16:54Speaker 17: You want them to go ahead and change four starters again?
- 1:16:57Speaker 17: Like I think that's just the point I'm trying to
- 1:16:59Speaker 17: make is like they already invested a lot in the
- 1:17:01Speaker 17: offensive line last offseason. They took some steps forward this season,
- 1:17:06Speaker 17: and now if you go back to the well and
- 1:17:07Speaker 17: you start changing it again.
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: You know, I don't think anyone's saying we need all five, right,
- 1:17:12Speaker 4: we just you know, a creative way to upgrade it.
- 1:17:15Speaker 4: Is it a guard at which spot?
- 1:17:17Speaker 9: You know?
- 1:17:17Speaker 4: That kind of thing.
- 1:17:17Speaker 5: Well, And I would also say, Brandon, you did have
- 1:17:21Speaker 5: two rookies start on the left side. And I know
- 1:17:24Speaker 5: that no one wants to go all cliche, but the
- 1:17:27Speaker 5: rookie wall is a real thing. And I do think
- 1:17:30Speaker 5: that there was signs that some of those young guys
- 1:17:32Speaker 5: their performances tailed off as the season. Now, Woodson was
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: the one who went the other way. He seemed to
- 1:17:37Speaker 5: get better as the season went. But you can make
- 1:17:40Speaker 5: an argument that the first three picks, first four picks, like,
- 1:17:44Speaker 5: you know, all kind of tailed off as the season
- 1:17:46Speaker 5: wore on. I don't think Henderson was the same guy
- 1:17:49Speaker 5: in the playoffs as he was sort of in that
- 1:17:51Speaker 5: middle of the season when he was hitting all those
- 1:17:53Speaker 5: home runs. And Wilson and Campbell conceive it, you know,
- 1:17:57Speaker 5: theoretically will be better players in year two.
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: So I would just see it through.
- 1:18:01Speaker 17: I think you just had to trust the process a
- 1:18:03Speaker 17: little bit because if you start, if you make another
- 1:18:06Speaker 17: if you make a hole again at left tackle, let's
- 1:18:08Speaker 17: say they move Campbell inside, now you need to use
- 1:18:11Speaker 17: an asset to invest again in another left tackle a
- 1:18:14Speaker 17: year later. And now we're talking about edge rushers, we're
- 1:18:17Speaker 17: talking about receivers, we're talking about you know, all these
- 1:18:20Speaker 17: other positions, and it's like there's only so many things
- 1:18:22Speaker 17: to go around, especially when you're picking thirty first in
- 1:18:25Speaker 17: the first round, Like they don't have a never ending
- 1:18:28Speaker 17: war chest to just go out there and plug.
- 1:18:30Speaker 14: All these different holes. So I just you know, I
- 1:18:33Speaker 14: think you have to hold your while.
- 1:18:34Speaker 10: Like you just part of that was part of my
- 1:18:37Speaker 10: just concern of the pin because obviously I know that,
- 1:18:40Speaker 10: like resources are limited, it's not as simple as just
- 1:18:42Speaker 10: plugging them in. And like going into the playoffs. Before
- 1:18:45Speaker 10: the playoffs, I thought, are one of our biggest acquisitions
- 1:18:48Speaker 10: for the next season, would get get a top perimeter threat,
- 1:18:51Speaker 10: get a pass rusher. That's what I was kind of
- 1:18:53Speaker 10: hoping that we're addressed in this next coming offseason. But
- 1:18:57Speaker 10: then just after seeing the offensive line play, I can't
- 1:19:00Speaker 10: help but think that. You know, I don't want Drake
- 1:19:03Speaker 10: May to turn into Joe Burrow. I don't want him
- 1:19:06Speaker 10: to have a Te Higgins and Jamar Chase on the outside,
- 1:19:08Speaker 10: but then he gets hit so much every year that
- 1:19:10Speaker 10: he ends up getting hurt and not even being able
- 1:19:12Speaker 10: to play. That's just my concern. I know it's not
- 1:19:14Speaker 10: a simple thing to address, but as a fan, that's
- 1:19:17Speaker 10: what I'm worried about because at this point, I don't
- 1:19:19Speaker 10: even know if getting a perimeter threat or a tight
- 1:19:22Speaker 10: end that was mentioned earlier to open up the field
- 1:19:25Speaker 10: is really gonna matter if he just gets hit every
- 1:19:28Speaker 10: single play. I think a lot of it has to
- 1:19:30Speaker 10: do with him as a young player as well being
- 1:19:32Speaker 10: able to address who's blitting, and I think he'll grow
- 1:19:34Speaker 10: from there. And I'm not I'm not disagreeing with you
- 1:19:37Speaker 10: guys completely. I think that you have to trust the
- 1:19:39Speaker 10: process a little bit. I was just, as a fan,
- 1:19:42Speaker 10: very disappointed.
- 1:19:43Speaker 19: That's that's what suck out.
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: To me, all right, Thanks Brandon, I appreciate the call.
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: You look at how much work the Bengals have tried
- 1:19:49Speaker 4: to put into their offensive line and you know, it's
- 1:19:51Speaker 4: it's it's really hard to do.
- 1:19:52Speaker 17: I just think we're losing sight of the fact that
- 1:19:54Speaker 17: he was just the runner up for the MVP, Like
- 1:19:57Speaker 17: was he on his butt all season or was he
- 1:19:59Speaker 17: on his butt the last coup weeks? And let's look
- 1:20:03Speaker 17: at it objectively and not just think about the last
- 1:20:06Speaker 17: thing that we just saw against maybe the best pass
- 1:20:08Speaker 17: rush in the NFL in Seattle. And like, you have
- 1:20:12Speaker 17: two young players. My biggest thing would be with Will
- 1:20:14Speaker 17: Campbell and Jared Wilson. I would not play them next
- 1:20:17Speaker 17: to each other, Like I think when you have two
- 1:20:19Speaker 17: young players like that playing side by side, it's so
- 1:20:23Speaker 17: easy to just target that one side of.
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: The offensive world, right where.
- 1:20:27Speaker 17: Like it's if you can spread him out a little bit,
- 1:20:30Speaker 17: then it's a lot easier.
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: To hide a bit of a mistake.
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: When Wilson came back from his injury, not keeping Ben
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: Brown in there because Brown was playing pretty well.
- 1:20:40Speaker 17: I questioned it at the time because I just think,
- 1:20:44Speaker 17: going back to something I said earlier, like Brown's a
- 1:20:46Speaker 17: bigger guard.
- 1:20:47Speaker 14: He's a bigger, wider, more.
- 1:20:49Speaker 17: Physical player than Jared Wilson, And like that did that
- 1:20:54Speaker 17: help settle Campbell down a little bit, knowing that he
- 1:20:56Speaker 17: had somebody with some size playing next to him, I
- 1:20:59Speaker 17: thought that they were better honestly, Ben Brown.
- 1:21:03Speaker 5: To extrapolate, you know, brand maybe Brandy gets some of
- 1:21:06Speaker 5: his wish. Maybe that's a move and it's Wilson inside
- 1:21:09Speaker 5: the center. If they decided Bradbury's no longer there, Brown
- 1:21:12Speaker 5: they extended, so they obviously like him. Yeah, you know,
- 1:21:15Speaker 5: maybe Brown gives them a little of that girth that
- 1:21:19Speaker 5: Evan's talking about next to Will Campbell. And again, I
- 1:21:22Speaker 5: expect those two guys to be better in year two.
- 1:21:26Speaker 5: And I also think Wilson's not getting enough attention as
- 1:21:29Speaker 5: he's not getting it. And I know I understand fourth
- 1:21:32Speaker 5: overall pick left tackle, that's a spotlight position. And I
- 1:21:36Speaker 5: loved the way Campbell answered those questions. Today's like you
- 1:21:39Speaker 5: know that that comes with the territory. I was a
- 1:21:41Speaker 5: high pick, number fourth overall, number four overall. I'm highly paid.
- 1:21:46Speaker 5: I deserve to get scrutinized. You know, again, I'm paraphrasing,
- 1:21:50Speaker 5: But Wilson, I don't think, has been under the same scrutiny,
- 1:21:53Speaker 5: and they both they both struggled.
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: Mark Is in Denver, North Carolina. I didn't know there
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: was such a thing Denver, North Carolina.
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: That's your favorite North Carolina.
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: So yeah, let's not forget Campbell is a young rookie.
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: His deficit is not arm length, it's small technique adjustments
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: in another offseason in the weight room. He will be
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: a good left tackle in this league as he gains
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: experience in size. At twenty two years old for his
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: first go at these elite ends, he has learned and
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: will get better.
- 1:22:23Speaker 4: I mean, I thought it was so interesting the amount
- 1:22:24Speaker 4: of support that he got from a lot of not
- 1:22:27Speaker 4: you know, online Twitter troll the NFL lineman, guys who
- 1:22:30Speaker 4: had done it. You know, hearing from those guys carries
- 1:22:33Speaker 4: a lot of weight for me. And that's why, I mean,
- 1:22:36Speaker 4: Brabel said it. So we don't have to spend all
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: off season talking about do you keep him there? No,
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: Brabel said it, but remember we had I think it
- 1:22:44Speaker 4: was Morgan Moses in here talking about the offensive line
- 1:22:46Speaker 4: this year, and he gave so much credit to Garrett Bradberry.
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: And you know, I'm not saying that it's just you're
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: gonna have to upset the apple cart a little bit
- 1:22:54Speaker 4: to get the offensive line better. But I think you
- 1:22:56Speaker 4: need to do it. I just don't think it's going
- 1:22:58Speaker 4: to start with Campbell.
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: It's going to start.
- 1:23:00Speaker 17: I'm not suggesting to worry about hurting people's feelings or
- 1:23:03Speaker 17: anything like that, but like they already changed out four
- 1:23:07Speaker 17: fists of the offensive line last offseason and they got
- 1:23:10Speaker 17: a little bit better. And if maybe a starting caliber
- 1:23:14Speaker 17: left guard and free agency or something like that is
- 1:23:17Speaker 17: the answer, maybe you know, moving Wilson to center, and
- 1:23:21Speaker 17: you know signing a left guard is the answer. But
- 1:23:23Speaker 17: like they're not going to go out and sign five
- 1:23:25Speaker 17: new starters again, Like that's just not gonna happen. And
- 1:23:27Speaker 17: I would just add, like to the email or like
- 1:23:32Speaker 17: both things can be true that Will Campbell's dimensions is
- 1:23:35Speaker 17: the problem, But that doesn't mean that he can't be
- 1:23:39Speaker 17: good around the dimensions, which is the technique part that
- 1:23:42Speaker 17: people are keep bringing up. I think the issue for him,
- 1:23:45Speaker 17: or not issue, or just the thing for him is
- 1:23:47Speaker 17: he's going to have to be a really good technician
- 1:23:50Speaker 17: at the position. Like he's going to be have to
- 1:23:52Speaker 17: be like a master at his set points, his hand fighting,
- 1:23:56Speaker 17: his strike timing, like all these little minutias that we
- 1:23:59Speaker 17: talk about with the offensive line play. To add his
- 1:24:03Speaker 17: dimensions be a high level left tackle. But that doesn't
- 1:24:07Speaker 17: mean that he can't do it. It just means that they're
- 1:24:09Speaker 17: both true.
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: Yeah, and you got to give him some time. To
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: Pall's point, you got to give him some time to
- 1:24:12Speaker 4: see that. And if you immediately throw the baby out
- 1:24:14Speaker 4: with the bathwater, big baby, well.
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: They have the same coaches next year. I don't know.
- 1:24:19Speaker 4: That's a great question. I was wondering about that. I mean,
- 1:24:21Speaker 4: they do have three guys. I mean, this is just
- 1:24:23Speaker 4: my non informed off the cuff, Like I wonder if
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: Maron comes back or if like Hoteiling takes it over.
- 1:24:28Speaker 4: Maybe it's a co thing with him. I don't know.
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: I'm just speculating. It'd be great to get Doug Maroon back,
- 1:24:34Speaker 4: but I just wonder if he might want something a
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: little bigger than you know, being the head offensive line
- 1:24:38Speaker 4: coach for.
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: Patrick's in Canada. What's up? Patrick? Nice?
- 1:24:43Speaker 18: So h yes, hi there. So I'm just calling because
- 1:24:48Speaker 18: after you know, going through the emotions of Sunday's game there,
- 1:24:53Speaker 18: I'll wondering what your thoughts are on the game that
- 1:24:57Speaker 18: Josh McDaniel's called as you see, because I'm not sure
- 1:25:01Speaker 18: about you guys, but I was somewhat surprised that, you know,
- 1:25:05Speaker 18: kind of wait until very very last night, when the
- 1:25:07Speaker 18: games a little out of hand at that point, a
- 1:25:09Speaker 18: lot of reach to really kind of take risks and
- 1:25:12Speaker 18: shake things up. I would have loved to see some
- 1:25:16Speaker 18: big personnel out of them, like, you know, bring an
- 1:25:18Speaker 18: extra tight end or even extra offensive line to try
- 1:25:20Speaker 18: to force Seattle out of that quarters. Look to use
- 1:25:23Speaker 18: with two ice safeties right to try to really really
- 1:25:27Speaker 18: run the ball. If you really that kid to the
- 1:25:29Speaker 18: ground game, why not just bringing all your big guys
- 1:25:33Speaker 18: and just try to step it down the throat until
- 1:25:35Speaker 18: you're forcing to stack the box and maybe create.
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: Someone on one guy.
- 1:25:39Speaker 18: It didn't seem like they could throw the ball because
- 1:25:41Speaker 18: seattleys playing zone the whole there's cover four, cover six,
- 1:25:44Speaker 18: There's like nothing there for May at all, whatsoever?
- 1:25:49Speaker 19: What your thoughts?
- 1:25:50Speaker 17: Yeah, that's all great points, Patrick, I mean, those are
- 1:25:52Speaker 17: all the points that I've tried to hit on. I
- 1:25:55Speaker 17: did not think that this game was coach well by
- 1:25:59Speaker 17: the Patriot and think they called a good game, and
- 1:26:02Speaker 17: I think he hit a lot of it. I mean,
- 1:26:03Speaker 17: they had one play with six offensive linemen on the
- 1:26:06Speaker 17: field and went for twenty one yards and they never
- 1:26:08Speaker 17: went back to it.
- 1:26:08Speaker 5: So I was surprised about that, the Mumford thing, and
- 1:26:12Speaker 5: I don't know if maybe they could have dictated some
- 1:26:14Speaker 5: matchups a little bit with that. I thought that they
- 1:26:19Speaker 5: had a decent mix of aggressiveness downfield early that people
- 1:26:25Speaker 5: are completely.
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: Forgetting that weren't just weren't there.
- 1:26:28Speaker 5: I mean, there was a deep ball, I think to
- 1:26:31Speaker 5: Hollins on a third down. I thought they ran the
- 1:26:35Speaker 5: ball just ineffectively for the most part. I'm just looking
- 1:26:39Speaker 5: at some of the starts to some of these drives. Yeah,
- 1:26:41Speaker 5: the first drive, it was a six yard run that
- 1:26:44Speaker 5: started it, and then you know, the second drive they
- 1:26:50Speaker 5: had the ball Evans play with Mumford was the first
- 1:26:53Speaker 5: down play. It was a twenty one yard completion. Then
- 1:26:56Speaker 5: first and ten forty three Henderson up the middle minus three,
- 1:27:00Speaker 5: you know, then puts you immediately behind the sticks. Then
- 1:27:03Speaker 5: you know, you go to like a a later drive
- 1:27:06Speaker 5: and it's the first down play you know, for three
- 1:27:09Speaker 5: a three yard run, and you know the next time
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: it's a Stevenson three yard run.
- 1:27:15Speaker 17: It's just three yard runs in a game like that,
- 1:27:16Speaker 17: aren't aren't a loss in my opinion?
- 1:27:19Speaker 5: No, But what I'm saying is, I think they did
- 1:27:22Speaker 5: try to run the ball on early downs for the
- 1:27:24Speaker 5: most part early in the game, and they weren't overly
- 1:27:26Speaker 5: effective doing it. They are two running backs, both averaged
- 1:27:28Speaker 5: three three point two and three point three yards per
- 1:27:31Speaker 5: carry on thirteen carries total. Like Evan's right, Henderson had
- 1:27:35Speaker 5: a nine yard run and still average three yards to carry.
- 1:27:39Speaker 17: A nine yard run against that defense might as well
- 1:27:41Speaker 17: be a twenty five yard No.
- 1:27:42Speaker 5: But what I'm saying is that's that was that was
- 1:27:45Speaker 5: the one run and they still only averaged three. Counting
- 1:27:47Speaker 5: that they averaged three yards. You know, they can't run
- 1:27:51Speaker 5: against that, but.
- 1:27:52Speaker 17: You have to stay on schedule against that defense, like
- 1:27:55Speaker 17: if you're if I think.
- 1:27:56Speaker 5: They've gotten a lot of third and lungs because they
- 1:27:58Speaker 5: ran the ball early in see some possessions.
- 1:28:01Speaker 14: I think it's that I think they were chipping away
- 1:28:03Speaker 14: in the run game.
- 1:28:03Speaker 17: I think Henderson Stevenson had seven carries or something crazy
- 1:28:07Speaker 17: like that.
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: They only had thirteen cash.
- 1:28:09Speaker 5: I mean, like, you know, there's seven for twenty three
- 1:28:11Speaker 5: for Stevenson, six for nineteen.
- 1:28:13Speaker 17: Yard run in there, there's a five yard run in there,
- 1:28:15Speaker 17: there's a four yard run in there there's a three
- 1:28:17Speaker 17: yard run in there, like when you're playing a defense
- 1:28:19Speaker 17: like that, like that's you need to keep chipping.
- 1:28:22Speaker 14: Away to have balance to the offense because if you turn.
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: It in you got to converse some third down.
- 1:28:27Speaker 17: But if you turn it into a dropback game where
- 1:28:29Speaker 17: it's third and nine and plus, like, you're not going
- 1:28:31Speaker 17: to convert third down.
- 1:28:32Speaker 5: That was third and seven a lot because they were
- 1:28:34Speaker 5: getting three yards like that's. I just think it's a
- 1:28:37Speaker 5: tough way to play against that team.
- 1:28:39Speaker 17: I think it's a I think the opposite, Well, it's
- 1:28:41Speaker 17: a tough so it might be the only way to
- 1:28:43Speaker 17: do it, But you gotta maybe maybe.
- 1:28:45Speaker 5: I'm giving them too much credit. I'm giving Seattle too
- 1:28:48Speaker 5: much credit. You just just don't think.
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: I don't think anybody ran ran against them all year.
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: I don't see.
- 1:28:53Speaker 5: I don't think you were a very good running team
- 1:28:54Speaker 5: and they didn't allow any running yards all year.
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: I didn't think that was the way to go about it.
- 1:28:59Speaker 14: But I didn't think that. I don't think that there.
- 1:29:01Speaker 17: You don't aren't running the ball necessarily to score points
- 1:29:04Speaker 17: and to be super productive with the running game, You're.
- 1:29:06Speaker 5: Or if they could have running the five and six
- 1:29:08Speaker 5: yard runs like you said that, which they I think
- 1:29:10Speaker 5: they did twice. If they could have done that consistently,
- 1:29:13Speaker 5: I would agree with you. I just think that they
- 1:29:15Speaker 5: set up a lot of long yarded second downs and
- 1:29:18Speaker 5: then that's when you know the pressure's coming and all
- 1:29:20Speaker 5: of a sudden it's third and long and.
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: You know, so you're saying you pass out a first down.
- 1:29:24Speaker 5: Yeah, like you know, and I'm sure they did that
- 1:29:27Speaker 5: plenty too. I'm just I just was looking at the
- 1:29:29Speaker 5: couple of the early drives. I thought, you know, the
- 1:29:33Speaker 5: first play of the game is a six yard run.
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: That's great.
- 1:29:35Speaker 5: I'm with Evan on that, Like, that's how you you know,
- 1:29:37Speaker 5: that's how you stay out is stay ahead of the chains.
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: Their first run of the game was sixteen.
- 1:29:42Speaker 17: I think it was ten. But it's really hard to do.
- 1:29:45Speaker 17: And I'm not saying that it's an easy way to live.
- 1:29:47Speaker 17: But their first drive of the game started six yard run,
- 1:29:51Speaker 17: two yard run, short pass the season first.
- 1:29:54Speaker 5: First down, like that, that was that's how you stay
- 1:29:57Speaker 5: ahead of the chains.
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: I agree.
- 1:29:58Speaker 5: If you can get six, I'm with you. I just
- 1:30:02Speaker 5: wasn't expecting to get six very often, I understand. I
- 1:30:05Speaker 5: just I think that you know that defense.
- 1:30:07Speaker 17: Because they play as much too high shell as they do,
- 1:30:10Speaker 17: they don't give up a lot of explosive runs, which
- 1:30:12Speaker 17: is why a lot of the numbers, you know, the
- 1:30:14Speaker 17: yards per carry and all that stuff. Really, but I
- 1:30:17Speaker 17: think what that what they do will give up is
- 1:30:19Speaker 17: a lot of like three or four yard runs. So
- 1:30:21Speaker 17: could you have kept it in like second and six
- 1:30:24Speaker 17: instead of second and ten because you have an incomplete
- 1:30:27Speaker 17: pass on first down, you know what I mean?
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: Sure?
- 1:30:30Speaker 5: And like to your point, you're not expecting to get
- 1:30:32Speaker 5: two or three yards on the run.
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: You want to get maybe four or five. Yeah, And
- 1:30:35Speaker 2: I'm not expecting to get an incomplete pass on the
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: first down pass. So yeah, I mean I see what
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: you're saying. Yeah, whatever you do, you got to do
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: it well right right, And they did, you know, they
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: did have a couple.
- 1:30:47Speaker 5: I think Stevenson had a six yard run on a
- 1:30:49Speaker 5: first down and he had a five yard run on
- 1:30:50Speaker 5: a first down, you know, And I don't think that
- 1:30:53Speaker 5: they were able to I also maybe to Evan's point,
- 1:30:56Speaker 5: if they kept doing it, maybe it would have gotten better.
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: I don't they I.
- 1:30:59Speaker 17: Wasn't expecting them to start breaking big runs against that defense.
- 1:31:02Speaker 17: They don't give up big runs, but I was hoping
- 1:31:04Speaker 17: that they could maybe just continue to consistently chip away
- 1:31:07Speaker 17: at them. And Stevenson's been one of their best offensive
- 1:31:10Speaker 17: players for the past two months and they completely kind
- 1:31:13Speaker 17: of took him out of the game. And I think
- 1:31:15Speaker 17: the Patriots took him out of the game.
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: I would agree.
- 1:31:18Speaker 17: I don't think Seattle did. I think the Patriots did.
- 1:31:21Speaker 17: And that's where the part was frustrated.
- 1:31:23Speaker 3: RT right, Sin Morgan Moses is going to be thirty
- 1:31:26Speaker 3: five and was getting beat on speed rushes. He was
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: a band aid fixed, not long term. We should draft
- 1:31:32Speaker 3: or get younger there too.
- 1:31:33Speaker 5: Yeah, well, that's the whole point is that you need
- 1:31:36Speaker 5: to replace him. Maybe not in the starting lineup in
- 1:31:39Speaker 5: twenty six, but you need to replace him. He's not
- 1:31:41Speaker 5: here for the long term. So you're going to need
- 1:31:43Speaker 5: a guard. I mean, I'm sorry, you're going to need
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: a tackle. And now everybody wants to replace the left
- 1:31:48Speaker 5: tackle too, So you're in a situation like Kevin's saying,
- 1:31:50Speaker 5: We're so we're going to replace two tackles again, two
- 1:31:53Speaker 5: years in a row.
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: We're going to replace two tackles. So now you're not
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: addressing any of the other needs. There's a lot of
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: other needs.
- 1:31:59Speaker 4: You need to tackle that can start next year. I
- 1:32:01Speaker 4: just assuming that you're going to get that much out
- 1:32:03Speaker 4: of Morgan Moses again next year, you have to be
- 1:32:06Speaker 4: completely prepared for him to miss multiple games next year,
- 1:32:09Speaker 4: and hopefully it's a developmental guy. It's like a soldier
- 1:32:11Speaker 4: that comes in and then I'll shoot volmer gets hurt.
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: Soldiers going to come in and play a little early,
- 1:32:15Speaker 4: but get that experience. But I don't know how they
- 1:32:17Speaker 4: feel about Marcus Bryant. He's the big question mark. I
- 1:32:20Speaker 4: don't think he's really active much at all this year
- 1:32:22Speaker 4: in the stretch twice and that not at all. I
- 1:32:25Speaker 4: don't know if there's anything there. So that's why I
- 1:32:27Speaker 4: bring up very low like I don't. I mean, he
- 1:32:29Speaker 4: played okay, he's an okay backup. Is there going to
- 1:32:31Speaker 4: be a market for him? I mean everybody problem.
- 1:32:33Speaker 17: With him is that he's a left side backup. Yeah,
- 1:32:35Speaker 17: he doesn't swing. They can't play right. So I I
- 1:32:39Speaker 17: remember Belichick used to say this all the time. When
- 1:32:41Speaker 17: you draft based on need and you miss, then you
- 1:32:44Speaker 17: didn't feel the need right. So everybody would say, oh,
- 1:32:47Speaker 17: like you you drafted the position in the first round.
- 1:32:49Speaker 17: I oh, they drafted for need, they needed a left tackle.
- 1:32:52Speaker 17: They drafted a left tackle. Well, the problem is is
- 1:32:54Speaker 17: that when the left tackle can't play, you still have
- 1:32:57Speaker 17: the need. So to Paul's point, like, if you're a
- 1:33:00Speaker 17: little bit patient with Will Campbell and you give him
- 1:33:02Speaker 17: another year to see if he can play the position,
- 1:33:05Speaker 17: then you maybe address it.
- 1:33:06Speaker 14: You know.
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: I think that's the way I go two to three
- 1:33:08Speaker 3: years from get him in the weight room, work on
- 1:33:11Speaker 3: his footwork.
- 1:33:12Speaker 14: It's the technique.
- 1:33:13Speaker 17: You know, his feet and his hands are late, so
- 1:33:16Speaker 17: when he gets his guys are getting into his frame
- 1:33:20Speaker 17: and then his feet aren't in the ground and so
- 1:33:22Speaker 17: then he's going back into Drake.
- 1:33:25Speaker 14: It's a technique thing that he can fix.
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: Don's and Philly, what's up Don?
- 1:33:31Speaker 18: Guys?
- 1:33:32Speaker 12: As we all know, super Bowl sucked, but this is
- 1:33:35Speaker 12: an offseason show where we're more excited about free agency
- 1:33:38Speaker 12: in the draft than the super Bowl. Just kind of
- 1:33:42Speaker 12: wanted to discuss I kind of think that, and I
- 1:33:45Speaker 12: know we're a bit early and you guys haven't dug
- 1:33:47Speaker 12: too much into the draft, but I kind of like
- 1:33:51Speaker 12: the idea of, you know, if this Kenyon Sadique is available.
- 1:33:54Speaker 12: He's a developmental tight end, you know in the Mike
- 1:33:58Speaker 12: Go in the late teams early twenties, think about.
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: Trade Milks an excellent plaifum, Yeah.
- 1:34:04Speaker 12: I mean, if he's available, I think it'd be really cool.
- 1:34:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:34:07Speaker 5: I don't think he'll be available at the end of
- 1:34:08Speaker 5: the first round. He's the kid out of Oregon, right, yeah.
- 1:34:12Speaker 12: Yeah. If if he's in you know, mid teens, high teens,
- 1:34:16Speaker 12: low twenties, consider trading up for him. Is that something
- 1:34:20Speaker 12: you think this regime would consider in terms of, you know,
- 1:34:23Speaker 12: getting rid of assets, But kind of just wanted your
- 1:34:25Speaker 12: opinion on you know, tight end, wide receiver, edge rusher,
- 1:34:30Speaker 12: the rank of what your ideal focus would be, you know,
- 1:34:34Speaker 12: through a free agency the draft. But I'll take it
- 1:34:36Speaker 12: off air.
- 1:34:37Speaker 2: All of the above.
- 1:34:38Speaker 5: I would just say that with this regime, I wouldn't
- 1:34:42Speaker 5: I would say anything and everything is in play until
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: we find out what their tendencies are. You know, Like
- 1:34:47Speaker 5: with Bill, I would have tended to say probably not
- 1:34:50Speaker 5: that's you know, I'm not going to go up ten
- 1:34:51Speaker 5: twelve spots because he didn't do it all that often.
- 1:34:55Speaker 5: At the top of the draft. He made a lot
- 1:34:56Speaker 5: of trades around the draft later. But I don't know
- 1:34:59Speaker 5: what Mike Vrabel thinks. And you know, Ryan Cowden and
- 1:35:04Speaker 5: Elliott Wolf and whoever else is going to be involved
- 1:35:06Speaker 5: in this stuff. You know, Evan and I were talking
- 1:35:08Speaker 5: off air at the break just now about kind of
- 1:35:12Speaker 5: making a splash a little bit, you know, moving that
- 1:35:14Speaker 5: pick for a player moving up in the first I
- 1:35:16Speaker 5: think I think all these kinds of things are on
- 1:35:18Speaker 5: the table.
- 1:35:19Speaker 14: I would move the pick for a player.
- 1:35:21Speaker 17: I just think that this team right now needs like
- 1:35:25Speaker 17: impact players at like key positions. It's only a couple
- 1:35:30Speaker 17: Like I think they need an edge rusher and I
- 1:35:32Speaker 17: think they need another playmaker on offense. But those that
- 1:35:36Speaker 17: don't just like grow on trees and especially are pretty
- 1:35:39Speaker 17: hard to find at thirty one. So if you can
- 1:35:41Speaker 17: trade that first round pick for Max Crosby, I'm doing
- 1:35:44Speaker 17: that in.
- 1:35:44Speaker 14: A our beat.
- 1:35:46Speaker 17: And I don't even know if it would take thirty one. Like,
- 1:35:48Speaker 17: I don't know what Crosby's value is. I'm terrible at that.
- 1:35:50Speaker 17: I have no idea what what his value is, but
- 1:35:54Speaker 17: I would think maybe that would be especially a late
- 1:35:57Speaker 17: first round pick. But you know, I think that they're
- 1:36:00Speaker 17: in that era now, like they're in that range where
- 1:36:03Speaker 17: they don't need to keep you know, just drafting and
- 1:36:06Speaker 17: drafting and drafting like they're good enough now where I
- 1:36:08Speaker 17: think they can make it splash like that.
- 1:36:10Speaker 4: Yeah, started, edge and tight end. Those are two spots.
- 1:36:12Speaker 4: You know, you you're going to have to bring in
- 1:36:14Speaker 4: players at those spots. They're thin.
- 1:36:15Speaker 17: They've got are some free agent tight ends. You know,
- 1:36:18Speaker 17: Kyle Pitts is a free agent. Isaiah Likely is a
- 1:36:22Speaker 17: free agent, so there are some free agent tight ends
- 1:36:25Speaker 17: that would be available.
- 1:36:26Speaker 15: You know.
- 1:36:27Speaker 14: Both those guys are are more like big receivers, like
- 1:36:30Speaker 14: big slot receivers and.
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: The like that.
- 1:36:32Speaker 4: Though I think ends, I think that Fitz style.
- 1:36:34Speaker 14: In the passing game, it does. I'll I'll be upset
- 1:36:36Speaker 14: about my running game. But I know I only I
- 1:36:38Speaker 14: think about that.
- 1:36:39Speaker 5: But I think that that was an underrated problem because
- 1:36:43Speaker 5: I don't think you got a lot of blocking out
- 1:36:44Speaker 5: of either of those guys.
- 1:36:46Speaker 17: Like Barnard who just killed them like blocking catching the ball.
- 1:36:51Speaker 17: I mean he was he was a big time X
- 1:36:53Speaker 17: factor in the game and both the run and pass game,
- 1:36:56Speaker 17: and just watching how Seattle is able to get you know,
- 1:36:59Speaker 17: into their twelve personnel and have tight ends that can
- 1:37:02Speaker 17: block and catch the ball and move the pocket and
- 1:37:05Speaker 17: play action and you know all that.
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: When you watch them.
- 1:37:08Speaker 5: So I'm curious about that now that you brought it up,
- 1:37:11Speaker 5: you know, with the tight ends where they really effected,
- 1:37:13Speaker 5: because how many times did you see Walker score it
- 1:37:16Speaker 5: to the side sideline and get that, you know, and
- 1:37:20Speaker 5: you know, I'm not suggesting that the officiating was a problem,
- 1:37:23Speaker 5: Like generally when you see that, you get at least
- 1:37:25Speaker 5: one holding call and then well, I don't think there
- 1:37:27Speaker 5: was a single one in the game. Now, I'll take
- 1:37:29Speaker 5: the way that game was officiated any day.
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: There were no calls. I love it.
- 1:37:34Speaker 5: I think there was a I think there was one
- 1:37:35Speaker 5: false start on Will Campbell in the first three quarters
- 1:37:37Speaker 5: of the game. I don't even remember another penalty until
- 1:37:40Speaker 5: the fourth quarter. The Seahawks got a couple on defense.
- 1:37:43Speaker 4: I got a question, what was good with all the
- 1:37:45Speaker 4: fighting going on? Did you see who was like in
- 1:37:47Speaker 4: the middle of that. Seemed like quite a few scrums
- 1:37:49Speaker 4: down near the end. I can't tell.
- 1:37:51Speaker 2: It looked like twenty nine.
- 1:37:54Speaker 5: Somebody threw a punch. Twenty nine I thought threw a punch.
- 1:37:56Speaker 5: I was surprised there were no flags on that.
- 1:37:58Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I think they.
- 1:38:00Speaker 5: Would jar and they were pushing it. I mean they
- 1:38:02Speaker 5: were both giving it back and forth. But I thought
- 1:38:04Speaker 5: twenty nine for the Seahawks gave a you know, threw
- 1:38:06Speaker 5: a punch.
- 1:38:07Speaker 3: Jigs had somebody's face mask, Joe.
- 1:38:10Speaker 5: Yeah, result so that's why they didn't throw the flag.
- 1:38:13Speaker 5: Digs had his face mask.
- 1:38:14Speaker 4: Okay, so.
- 1:38:17Speaker 14: Are we going to talk about dicks?
- 1:38:18Speaker 2: Are we just going to so by that graveyard?
- 1:38:21Speaker 4: What do you want to talk about?
- 1:38:22Speaker 14: Where is he?
- 1:38:24Speaker 7: Oh?
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: He wasn't in the locker room?
- 1:38:25Speaker 14: No, he was like where was he on the field
- 1:38:28Speaker 14: the entire playoffs?
- 1:38:29Speaker 3: Well, I think the teams they said, let's just get
- 1:38:33Speaker 3: rid of them.
- 1:38:34Speaker 4: Did they did you find they were giving him more attention?
- 1:38:36Speaker 14: Not in this game. I think he was kind of
- 1:38:38Speaker 14: I don't even know what he was doing.
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: Yeah, oh was he not running his routes? I don't
- 1:38:42Speaker 2: even know what.
- 1:38:43Speaker 14: I don't It's probably not for us.
- 1:38:45Speaker 2: Okay, it was okay, card.
- 1:38:47Speaker 14: We were we were out to launch a little bit.
- 1:38:49Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I think wide receiver is another position we
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: have to look at.
- 1:38:54Speaker 17: Just look at him and Hunter Henry, you know, two
- 1:38:56Speaker 17: guys that were kind of the engines of the passing
- 1:38:58Speaker 17: game in the regular season, and they're production completely fell
- 1:39:01Speaker 17: off a cliff in the postseason.
- 1:39:03Speaker 14: I think they went from like one.
- 1:39:04Speaker 17: Hundred and five yards per game combined to like fifty
- 1:39:07Speaker 17: five in the playoffs, you know, basically cut in half.
- 1:39:10Speaker 17: And we can see here and say that teams were
- 1:39:12Speaker 17: game planning them and stuff like that, but you know,
- 1:39:14Speaker 17: teams game plan a lot of good players and they
- 1:39:16Speaker 17: find ways to get open.
- 1:39:17Speaker 4: You know, they need a young, dynamic weapon. There's no
- 1:39:19Speaker 4: question I think that.
- 1:39:20Speaker 5: I mean, you can't fill everything all the time. It's
- 1:39:23Speaker 5: just like we said last year, that's a big need
- 1:39:25Speaker 5: they need. They need a dynamic playmaker. I mean, I
- 1:39:28Speaker 5: don't know if it's going to be a tight end
- 1:39:30Speaker 5: or wives, but whatever it needs like a Tyler Warren.
- 1:39:32Speaker 4: You know, I'm just naming coming up with Titans that
- 1:39:34Speaker 4: have gone the last couple of years that I think
- 1:39:36Speaker 4: could come in and make an instant impact.
- 1:39:38Speaker 14: I mean, I would love to have Tyler Warren.
- 1:39:39Speaker 4: But but you know, and again I said, are really
- 1:39:44Speaker 4: good find it?
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: Yeah, call suggestion. It's not you know, I'm.
- 1:39:49Speaker 17: Just going off of what all the Bruglers and all
- 1:39:52Speaker 17: the draft people say, because I've done zero work on
- 1:39:55Speaker 17: the draft whatsoever. But it's not thought of to be
- 1:39:58Speaker 17: a very good draft. It's it's not a great draft.
- 1:40:03Speaker 17: It's not a very deep draft.
- 1:40:05Speaker 2: Did you're talking about in its entirety?
- 1:40:07Speaker 17: In entirety, this is not a particularly good class based
- 1:40:12Speaker 17: off of what.
- 1:40:13Speaker 2: Expert Finally, the COVID stuff, Yeah right.
- 1:40:17Speaker 17: Yeah, I mean a lot of that is just based
- 1:40:18Speaker 17: you know, let's face it, it's based off of a
- 1:40:20Speaker 17: couple of positions, whether or not, like quarterback is strong
- 1:40:23Speaker 17: and stuff like that. And this year, you know, Mendoz
- 1:40:25Speaker 17: is really the only prize at quarterback, so you know,
- 1:40:29Speaker 17: that always hurts it. There are some edge rushers, but
- 1:40:31Speaker 17: a lot of them are expected to go pretty early
- 1:40:34Speaker 17: in the draft, you know, Rubin Baine like guys like
- 1:40:37Speaker 17: that are going to be like top ten picks.
- 1:40:40Speaker 14: So we'll see. But it's it's not thought a very highly.
- 1:40:44Speaker 2: On one thing with digs that kind of annoyed me.
- 1:40:46Speaker 2: It's probably just a big thing.
- 1:40:49Speaker 5: Late in the game, he caught up like a deep
- 1:40:51Speaker 5: pass down the middle, and you got up kind of like,
- 1:40:55Speaker 5: I was like, bro, the game's over, You're not like
- 1:40:58Speaker 5: you're not styling this catch here?
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: Like I think he kind of spun the.
- 1:41:01Speaker 5: Ball and like, besides the fact that they were in
- 1:41:04Speaker 5: hurry up, like you know, they're trying to desperately score touchdowns.
- 1:41:08Speaker 5: And I was like, to Evan's point, like you've kind
- 1:41:11Speaker 5: of been mia all playoffs and now you catch like
- 1:41:14Speaker 5: a twenty five yard pass when you're getting killed in
- 1:41:17Speaker 5: the Super Bowl and you're styling it.
- 1:41:19Speaker 17: I just didn't really you know, we talked earlier about
- 1:41:23Speaker 17: like quarterbacks having their biggies like that. Diggs is supposed
- 1:41:26Speaker 17: to be the binkie, Like he's supposed to be the
- 1:41:29Speaker 17: chain Movie. You're supposed to be the guy that you know,
- 1:41:31Speaker 17: when you need seven yards, he's gonna get eight, you know,
- 1:41:34Speaker 17: like that's supposed to be his role.
- 1:41:35Speaker 4: And it just so you didn't really see him open
- 1:41:37Speaker 4: a lot during the game.
- 1:41:38Speaker 17: No, man, Like just like running through zones and I'm like,
- 1:41:41Speaker 17: you know, like so many just three vertical routes down
- 1:41:45Speaker 17: the field and I'm like.
- 1:41:46Speaker 14: Where are we going, like stop and turn around? Yeah,
- 1:41:49Speaker 14: And you.
- 1:41:49Speaker 17: Know the pass rush is just on top of may
- 1:41:52Speaker 17: and they just are sending guys, they're running nine to
- 1:41:55Speaker 17: eight nine, you know, go and put the post in
- 1:41:57Speaker 17: the middle, and they're just running it over and over again,
- 1:41:59Speaker 17: and like maybe he has like one little like the
- 1:42:02Speaker 17: tight end of the back is like chipping and then
- 1:42:04Speaker 17: leaking out underneath as kind of like a late outlet.
- 1:42:07Speaker 4: The only outlets were just to the flyers with the
- 1:42:09Speaker 4: running backs.
- 1:42:11Speaker 14: There just a lot hotting down the field. And he's
- 1:42:14Speaker 14: holding the ball.
- 1:42:14Speaker 4: Is not good?
- 1:42:16Speaker 2: I digress. James is in Georgia. What's up, James?
- 1:42:20Speaker 4: Oh, it's James Pearce.
- 1:42:21Speaker 2: James.
- 1:42:22Speaker 3: Oh, yikes, James is in Georgia, going once twice?
- 1:42:28Speaker 2: You're out.
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: Let's go to Peter in Tampa.
- 1:42:32Speaker 2: What's up? Peter's gone, He's not there.
- 1:42:35Speaker 3: Pete about Manny in New Bedford?
- 1:42:37Speaker 2: What's up? Manny?
- 1:42:38Speaker 22: Hey? What's going on?
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: Can you hear me?
- 1:42:40Speaker 7: Yes?
- 1:42:42Speaker 18: Hey? What the hell of the season?
- 1:42:43Speaker 16: We had?
- 1:42:44Speaker 18: Hit me up for a second.
- 1:42:45Speaker 22: I'm pretty glad about the amount of exposure we had
- 1:42:51Speaker 22: in his post easy And I don't know if you remember.
- 1:42:55Speaker 22: I don't know if you guys watched this, but wow.
- 1:42:56Speaker 22: Garrett was on a podcast not too Long to Go,
- 1:43:00Speaker 22: and he was asked how do you beat the Patriots
- 1:43:03Speaker 22: And one of the first things he said was, Drake
- 1:43:06Speaker 22: is going to hold the ball, so you're gonna have
- 1:43:08Speaker 22: to beat him with a foot man rush, all right.
- 1:43:10Speaker 22: So I'm so glad that Drake was exposed because for
- 1:43:15Speaker 22: the most but I remember we talked about earlier in
- 1:43:19Speaker 22: the season as he likes to hold the ball. Okay,
- 1:43:21Speaker 22: so this is going to be such a teaching moment
- 1:43:24Speaker 22: for him going into the next year, is being able
- 1:43:28Speaker 22: to pick up the pressure and being able to get
- 1:43:31Speaker 22: the ball out quicker.
- 1:43:32Speaker 7: Right.
- 1:43:33Speaker 22: So again, I remember he was he's not learning much
- 1:43:36Speaker 22: when he's up over seventy percent completion percentage, right, he's
- 1:43:40Speaker 22: kind of floating at that all time high. But this
- 1:43:43Speaker 22: postseason really exposed the things that he really needs to
- 1:43:46Speaker 22: work on. So I'm kind of again, I'm happy about
- 1:43:49Speaker 22: the success. Obviously, I didn't want the Patriots to lose,
- 1:43:52Speaker 22: but I'm glad that so much of that was exposed
- 1:43:55Speaker 22: in this postseason because this is something that he's really
- 1:43:57Speaker 22: gonna have to work on for next year. We got
- 1:44:00Speaker 22: to tell these people that are like so quick to
- 1:44:03Speaker 22: say we need to change up the offensive line. No,
- 1:44:05Speaker 22: it's so much harder to sit here and change up
- 1:44:07Speaker 22: the offensive line then to just teach Drake May how
- 1:44:10Speaker 22: to handle the pressure and how to get the ball
- 1:44:12Speaker 22: off sooner. I think we have to just trust the process,
- 1:44:15Speaker 22: you know, and just trust that where we are the
- 1:44:18Speaker 22: offensive line, and they're going to build more chemistry the
- 1:44:21Speaker 22: upcoming year. So I'm curious to see what you guys
- 1:44:23Speaker 22: think about that thing.
- 1:44:24Speaker 2: Thanks.
- 1:44:25Speaker 17: I really don't have any major problems with Drake holding
- 1:44:28Speaker 17: the ball like he's a playmaker.
- 1:44:31Speaker 14: He's not, like I don't.
- 1:44:33Speaker 17: I don't look at him as somebody that I want
- 1:44:35Speaker 17: to like turn into like this, like quick release, like
- 1:44:39Speaker 17: check down Charlie, like, let's I it's also like, to me,
- 1:44:43Speaker 17: a lot easier said to just sit here and say
- 1:44:45Speaker 17: get rid of the ball, Like, well.
- 1:44:47Speaker 3: I think, but I think you by design, I think
- 1:44:50Speaker 3: you have to do that at times, just to keep
- 1:44:52Speaker 3: the defense on its heels.
- 1:44:53Speaker 17: Well, if they had done that, then I would agree.
- 1:44:56Speaker 17: But like, like, you can't if there's nobody to throw
- 1:44:58Speaker 17: the ball to you, Well that I don't know.
- 1:45:00Speaker 2: It's all. It's all link.
- 1:45:02Speaker 5: I understand what Evan's talking about. In the back of
- 1:45:05Speaker 5: my mind. It's like, you know, you get a guy
- 1:45:07Speaker 5: who throws fifteen picks and you're like, he's just got
- 1:45:10Speaker 5: to cut down on the interceptions you just got and
- 1:45:12Speaker 5: then the guy ends up throwing five interceptions the next year,
- 1:45:15Speaker 5: but you know, for half the touchdowns and half the yards, Well,
- 1:45:18Speaker 5: why did that happen? Because he's so intent on not
- 1:45:21Speaker 5: making when he plays anymore. I think if you turn
- 1:45:24Speaker 5: Drake May into the gotta get rid of the ball
- 1:45:26Speaker 5: and get it out quick, you have a potential to
- 1:45:29Speaker 5: lose a lot of that downfield stuff that you got
- 1:45:31Speaker 5: this year, because not all of that was just you know,
- 1:45:34Speaker 5: shotgun snap back foot with throwing a go route to Booty.
- 1:45:39Speaker 5: Some of it was moving around, sliding around, thinking of
- 1:45:41Speaker 5: like the Saints plate, you know, where they they booted
- 1:45:44Speaker 5: him out a little bit and they're throwing it downfield
- 1:45:46Speaker 5: to Mario Douglas. And yeah, I mean, I understand he
- 1:45:50Speaker 5: takes too many sacks. He needs to cut dock, he
- 1:45:52Speaker 5: needs to cut back on the sacks. But I don't
- 1:45:54Speaker 5: want him just saying I got to get rid of
- 1:45:57Speaker 5: the ball all the time. I want the play making element.
- 1:45:59Speaker 4: But there's a time for that. And I think it's
- 1:46:00Speaker 4: more to me the experience, the mental experience going against
- 1:46:04Speaker 4: the playoff games, you know, I just I think there
- 1:46:06Speaker 4: were too many times where, you know, the drifting into
- 1:46:08Speaker 4: pressure the looking at the wrong side. You know, those
- 1:46:11Speaker 4: kind of things I think will help him, and it
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: doesn't always have to be I agree with you guys.
- 1:46:14Speaker 4: I don't want to make him a quick game only guy,
- 1:46:16Speaker 4: but I think he needs to know when it's got
- 1:46:18Speaker 4: to be kick game only. There's got to be sometimes
- 1:46:20Speaker 4: for that too.
- 1:46:21Speaker 17: And I think there's just like five or six throws
- 1:46:23Speaker 17: that he missed in this game, and he also missed
- 1:46:25Speaker 17: a handful of them in the I. It's a championship
- 1:46:27Speaker 17: game where he just flat out missed the throw. And
- 1:46:30Speaker 17: if he makes those throws, I just think we're talking
- 1:46:32Speaker 17: about this a lot differently. Like he had you know,
- 1:46:34Speaker 17: this third down he has booty on his slant. He
- 1:46:37Speaker 17: just throws it, you know, it makes him die for it,
- 1:46:39Speaker 17: and he just can't make the catch.
- 1:46:41Speaker 14: You know he has you know.
- 1:46:42Speaker 2: There's a Douglas one on the third down.
- 1:46:44Speaker 17: Yeah, you know the Douglas one on third down where
- 1:46:46Speaker 17: he short armed it. Like if he's making these throws
- 1:46:49Speaker 17: like he was all regular season, then like, I don't
- 1:46:51Speaker 17: think we're sitting here saying that he takes too many
- 1:46:53Speaker 17: sacks and this dad the other thing, Like it's.
- 1:46:55Speaker 5: Like you haven't said you know, he was like five
- 1:46:58Speaker 5: points away from being the MVP.
- 1:47:00Speaker 2: He just barely.
- 1:47:02Speaker 4: But it's just such an experiencing. I mean, there's so
- 1:47:04Speaker 4: many different ways games unfold, and you know, I just
- 1:47:08Speaker 4: with him. I think it's he's a young kid, and
- 1:47:09Speaker 4: these are like, you know, he's got to get to
- 1:47:11Speaker 4: that point where you can be terrible for a couple
- 1:47:13Speaker 4: of quarters and then you turn it around and you
- 1:47:15Speaker 4: start playing well and you get you know, you find
- 1:47:17Speaker 4: your rhythm. Those are the things I just and maybe
- 1:47:19Speaker 4: I'm being too anecdotal with that, but it's felt like
- 1:47:23Speaker 4: Drake's games go the way they go. There's not really
- 1:47:25Speaker 4: a He played like crap for the first half and
- 1:47:27Speaker 4: then he came out in the second. Maybe there were
- 1:47:29Speaker 4: one or two.
- 1:47:29Speaker 14: I think Baltimore great example of that.
- 1:47:32Speaker 4: He kind of turned it around. And you see too
- 1:47:35Speaker 4: much snowballing, you know, like these games, especially even going
- 1:47:38Speaker 4: back to preseason. That's what's just the dichotomy between what
- 1:47:42Speaker 4: we saw this year and then what we saw in
- 1:47:43Speaker 4: the playoffs. It's just when we were watching in training camp,
- 1:47:46Speaker 4: like this is what I was expecting to see more
- 1:47:48Speaker 4: of throughout the season, not consistently, but more of these
- 1:47:52Speaker 4: kind of games where he's just you know, he got
- 1:47:53Speaker 4: thrown off. This defense got to him. He did great.
- 1:47:56Speaker 4: But I also think once you got to the playoffs,
- 1:47:58Speaker 4: you really see that tells you real the truth against
- 1:48:01Speaker 4: those good defenses.
- 1:48:02Speaker 3: Jacob and Nashville history tends to repeat itself. How does
- 1:48:05Speaker 3: this team and its journey remind you of the ninety
- 1:48:08Speaker 3: six team and you foresee a two thousand and one
- 1:48:11Speaker 3: like run in a few years. Well, I mean, somebody
- 1:48:14Speaker 3: else asked me that will this be like ninety six,
- 1:48:18Speaker 3: and I said, I hope not, because they actually got
- 1:48:21Speaker 3: worse every year after ninety six until they had to
- 1:48:24Speaker 3: make a coaching change.
- 1:48:25Speaker 2: I don't want that to happen.
- 1:48:27Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you know, I mean to me, not to always.
- 1:48:29Speaker 4: I've been bringing a lot of things back to eighty five,
- 1:48:31Speaker 4: but I do think there are some similarities there for
- 1:48:34Speaker 4: me in that that was a record setting road team.
- 1:48:37Speaker 4: This was a record setting road team, and in the
- 1:48:39Speaker 4: Super Bowl both teams ran into an absolute buzzsaw on defense.
- 1:48:45Speaker 4: And I don't know what it means for going forward.
- 1:48:47Speaker 4: Everyone wants to say, oh, they got there, they got
- 1:48:49Speaker 4: the experience. I think that's great, But like we've been talking,
- 1:48:53Speaker 4: about they have to get a lot better next year,
- 1:48:54Speaker 4: and I think they have a lot of holes that
- 1:48:56Speaker 4: we saw in training camp were re exposed here in
- 1:48:58Speaker 4: the playoffs.
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: Okay, Brendan and Edmonton says, what seventeen seventeen was the
- 1:49:07Speaker 3: result of the Super Bowl more related to being lesser
- 1:49:10Speaker 3: talented or more related to injuries to key players.
- 1:49:13Speaker 14: I didn't hear the first part smarking.
- 1:49:15Speaker 3: Super Bowl were about being less talented or key injuries.
- 1:49:20Speaker 2: First one, Yeah, I think so against this team. Yeah,
- 1:49:23Speaker 2: a bunch of.
- 1:49:24Speaker 4: Dudes up front.
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: Yep, New Jersey, Canada, New Jersey. There's no question Seattle
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: was the better team on Sunday. But how I wish
- 1:49:34Speaker 3: that the Patriots could have scored on that second fourth
- 1:49:36Speaker 3: quarter drive would have made it a one score game,
- 1:49:39Speaker 3: and even if they lost, there would have been a
- 1:49:41Speaker 3: shot where they could have stolen one. But Drake's ill
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: conceived throw ended it. Oh well, but I'm super psyche
- 1:49:47Speaker 3: for next year when the rookies have more experience and Stammina.
- 1:49:51Speaker 4: You could feel the Seahawks fans get a little tense
- 1:49:54Speaker 4: after that first touchdown than they punted, and they were
- 1:49:57Speaker 4: all kind of just sitting down like and I felt
- 1:49:59Speaker 4: like kind of South Seattle play too, Like they just
- 1:50:01Speaker 4: felt like it was inevitable and they were sitting there,
- 1:50:03Speaker 4: just sitting back, waiting, and then you felt a little
- 1:50:06Speaker 4: bit and then when they throw that interception, all of
- 1:50:07Speaker 4: a sudden, all the Seahawks fans woke up at that
- 1:50:10Speaker 4: point and like tension release for them. But you could
- 1:50:12Speaker 4: feel it a little bit in the stadium that the
- 1:50:14Speaker 4: Patriots I did.
- 1:50:15Speaker 5: Like that's like I said, I had, Like my one
- 1:50:18Speaker 5: little moment was when they forced Seattle to punt after
- 1:50:22Speaker 5: they scored and they got the ball back. I said, well,
- 1:50:25Speaker 5: if they could score now, I gotta be honest with you.
- 1:50:27Speaker 5: I didn't think they were going to get out and score,
- 1:50:29Speaker 5: just because of the way the game was going. But
- 1:50:31Speaker 5: I said, if they could go out and score, there's
- 1:50:34Speaker 5: a lot of game pressure on Sam Donald.
- 1:50:35Speaker 2: Maybe that's when.
- 1:50:36Speaker 4: He that's when the turnover he finally starts to turn
- 1:50:39Speaker 4: it over.
- 1:50:39Speaker 17: There's just a bad play, Like ball died on him
- 1:50:43Speaker 17: because he like hitched up into the pocket, hit his
- 1:50:47Speaker 17: arm as he was throwing, threw it right to the post.
- 1:50:49Speaker 17: Safety he was going to be there anyways, even if
- 1:50:51Speaker 17: he got enough on the ball.
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: I don't know, just not a not a good throw.
- 1:50:57Speaker 21: You know.
- 1:50:57Speaker 4: What I'm reminded of though this week is that one
- 1:51:00Speaker 4: team suck right now, there's one team that's awesome.
- 1:51:02Speaker 17: And well that's why I like, I'm just being a snarky,
- 1:51:05Speaker 17: but like that's why I brought Like I understand we're
- 1:51:07Speaker 17: all upset. I understand that they lost the game, but like,
- 1:51:09Speaker 17: they won seventeen games this year and made it to
- 1:51:11Speaker 17: the super Bowl, and I feel like a lot of
- 1:51:13Speaker 17: this stuff we're hearing today is like, how are we
- 1:51:15Speaker 17: going to overhaul the roster? And it's like, guys, like
- 1:51:18Speaker 17: the quarterback just was the runner up for MVP the
- 1:51:21Speaker 17: coach one Coach of the Year. They were just playing
- 1:51:23Speaker 17: in the Super Bowl. Like they have holes, they have
- 1:51:26Speaker 17: things to fix. But let's not overreact and act like
- 1:51:28Speaker 17: the whole team is crap now just because they lost
- 1:51:30Speaker 17: this yap, right and.
- 1:51:31Speaker 4: There's the Super Bowl loser. This is your week. This
- 1:51:33Speaker 4: is your week to get this suck spotlight. You know,
- 1:51:35Speaker 4: everyone on school talking about Will Campbell and all, you know,
- 1:51:39Speaker 4: it's just in that's.
- 1:51:40Speaker 3: What I hope doesn't happen is and it happens a
- 1:51:42Speaker 3: lot in history is the super team that loses the
- 1:51:46Speaker 3: Super Bowl, they don't.
- 1:51:48Speaker 2: Bounce back, they don't make the playoffs. A lot.
- 1:51:50Speaker 17: Yeah, I feel like it's mostly that, but it does
- 1:51:53Speaker 17: sometimes go the other way where it's fuel. And you
- 1:51:57Speaker 17: know the Eagles that took them two years, you know,
- 1:51:59Speaker 17: there was a year in between their appearances and they
- 1:52:02Speaker 17: won the second time they got they got back, but
- 1:52:04Speaker 17: they weren't terrible the following year, they just weren't.
- 1:52:07Speaker 5: They fell apart. At the end of the year, they
- 1:52:09Speaker 5: were like ten and one or something like that. Yeah,
- 1:52:11Speaker 5: but that's why Evan's point that he made early in
- 1:52:14Speaker 5: the show is so important, Like you have to you
- 1:52:17Speaker 5: have to find out the whys, you know, like and
- 1:52:21Speaker 5: they have a more realistic look at everything than we
- 1:52:24Speaker 5: do obviously, so they might look at it not to
- 1:52:28Speaker 5: be snarky, but they might look at it and say,
- 1:52:30Speaker 5: you know this, this rusher is not going to be
- 1:52:32Speaker 5: good enough to win seventeen games next year because we're
- 1:52:34Speaker 5: going to be playing different teams and maybe, like, why
- 1:52:38Speaker 5: was the offensive line not good enough in the postseason?
- 1:52:40Speaker 5: It might be because you played full good teams for
- 1:52:44Speaker 5: good defenses, like and again, Mike Rabel and his staff
- 1:52:48Speaker 5: have a better understanding of how much those kinds of
- 1:52:52Speaker 5: factors impacted the performance and.
- 1:52:54Speaker 17: The injuries, you know, like injury, level of competition, a
- 1:52:58Speaker 17: lot of young guys and big places, young quarterback, young
- 1:53:02Speaker 17: left tackle, you know what, all the different circumstances they
- 1:53:07Speaker 17: and then you know, you got to look at like
- 1:53:09Speaker 17: every year, you got to look at your system. You
- 1:53:11Speaker 17: gotta look at the schemes you're running and the system
- 1:53:13Speaker 17: you're running, and you know, what can you better do there?
- 1:53:16Speaker 17: I mean there's a couple of things that you know,
- 1:53:19Speaker 17: they didn't They couldn't run a draw play to save
- 1:53:22Speaker 17: their life.
- 1:53:23Speaker 14: The screens weren't great.
- 1:53:24Speaker 3: It's just too much pressure right up the million, right.
- 1:53:26Speaker 17: So like these are things that like you know, screen
- 1:53:28Speaker 17: game draws, moving the pocket, all things that they didn't
- 1:53:31Speaker 17: do very well are all change ups to try to
- 1:53:33Speaker 17: get the pass rush away from the quarterback. And if
- 1:53:36Speaker 17: you can't do those, then you're just kind of dropped
- 1:53:38Speaker 17: back passing all the time, and then they're just teeing
- 1:53:40Speaker 17: off on you.
- 1:53:41Speaker 4: How do you feel I asked Paul this in in Sanford,
- 1:53:43Speaker 4: how do you feel about the running back position? Like, well,
- 1:53:45Speaker 4: how would you approach that this offseason? I mean, do
- 1:53:47Speaker 4: you want to go. I feel pretty good about Underson
- 1:53:49Speaker 4: and Stevenson. You feel pretty good as a duo.
- 1:53:51Speaker 5: I like those two, but I feel like they probably
- 1:53:54Speaker 5: need somebody, but you know, not a major I don't
- 1:53:56Speaker 5: know what situation.
- 1:53:59Speaker 17: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean, I'm they definitely need a
- 1:54:01Speaker 17: third guy. But I most teams now are only running
- 1:54:05Speaker 17: really with two and then they have injury.
- 1:54:07Speaker 4: Was sneaky, sneaky, harmful, sneaky harmful, But at.
- 1:54:11Speaker 3: The time you didn't miss him too much because they
- 1:54:13Speaker 3: were winning kickoff.
- 1:54:14Speaker 4: I just having a second, you know, I.
- 1:54:16Speaker 3: Mean, running sneak, running back on your own.
- 1:54:19Speaker 2: But I agree with Evan, like how many teams rotate
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: three backs?
- 1:54:25Speaker 7: None?
- 1:54:26Speaker 17: Most teams are going with the two headed monster these days.
- 1:54:29Speaker 17: I mean, the Seahawks had it with sharbon Ay and
- 1:54:31Speaker 17: Walker until Sharboney got hurt. So like, that's that's really
- 1:54:35Speaker 17: the the way that the league has gone. The third
- 1:54:37Speaker 17: guy is what they've been using Deer and his Johnson for.
- 1:54:40Speaker 17: He's you know, insurance in case somebody gets hurt, and
- 1:54:43Speaker 17: his kickoff returner maybe you know that sort of thing.
- 1:54:45Speaker 2: I just laughed.
- 1:54:46Speaker 3: I was laughing because when of Paul's shows this morning
- 1:54:49Speaker 3: they were talking about, you know, shows the caller they
- 1:54:52Speaker 3: nearly need to get to bring in a full back.
- 1:54:55Speaker 3: Josh wants a full back.
- 1:54:56Speaker 14: They could. I mean it's not wrong like.
- 1:54:59Speaker 2: Lamp they they just eighth round.
- 1:55:01Speaker 17: Maybe well I'm not saying you need to draft one
- 1:55:04Speaker 17: or anything like that, but I think it if that's
- 1:55:07Speaker 17: how they want to, you know, kind of script their
- 1:55:09Speaker 17: run game is to stick for the way mc daniels
- 1:55:11Speaker 17: has always run the ball.
- 1:55:12Speaker 14: You know, they need they need to have the personnel
- 1:55:14Speaker 14: to run it down.
- 1:55:15Speaker 4: Find a full back above replacement like can maybe that.
- 1:55:18Speaker 17: It doesn't have to be like a high asset like
- 1:55:20Speaker 17: I don't know which is James Devlin was not like
- 1:55:22Speaker 17: they didn't draft them in the second round or anything
- 1:55:24Speaker 17: like that, Like no one's going to.
- 1:55:25Speaker 4: Do that, could do it.
- 1:55:27Speaker 3: Henry and Sunny Yorkshire overall very very happy with the season.
- 1:55:32Speaker 3: Of course, disappointing not to win our last game, but
- 1:55:34Speaker 3: we have to be happy with how things have played out.
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: That being said, do we still find ourselves in the
- 1:55:39Speaker 3: same position as we were this time last year? Questions
- 1:55:42Speaker 3: that all five O line positions need to find a
- 1:55:45Speaker 3: number one receiver, Questions about depth across the defense, need
- 1:55:49Speaker 3: to improve the pass rush. Like I say, very happy
- 1:55:51Speaker 3: with how things played out, but we still have huge
- 1:55:54Speaker 3: strides to take. So should be great, uh to watch
- 1:56:00Speaker 3: or something about watching a few wins.
- 1:56:01Speaker 2: I don't know what that means.
- 1:56:03Speaker 7: I ain't.
- 1:56:05Speaker 17: I think they're closer than a lot of these people
- 1:56:07Speaker 17: are making it sound.
- 1:56:08Speaker 14: I really do.
- 1:56:09Speaker 4: This is that this is everybody sucks week. Though this
- 1:56:11Speaker 4: I don't understand it.
- 1:56:13Speaker 2: Would they need a w R one?
- 1:56:16Speaker 14: Yeah, but that's like that's like a cherry on top
- 1:56:19Speaker 14: thing that.
- 1:56:19Speaker 3: Oh I don't think that's a cherry on top.
- 1:56:22Speaker 2: What do you mean I think they need a w
- 1:56:24Speaker 2: R one. I don't think it's a cherry.
- 1:56:26Speaker 17: I think they need Yeah, it's a cherry on top
- 1:56:28Speaker 17: because they already have the foundation laid Like, they already
- 1:56:31Speaker 17: have the quarterback, they already have a great coach, they
- 1:56:33Speaker 17: already have pieces. So now you drop the wide receiver
- 1:56:36Speaker 17: on top of it, and it's.
- 1:56:39Speaker 2: More than a cherry.
- 1:56:39Speaker 3: It's I think it's foundational in this NFL.
- 1:56:42Speaker 17: And today I'm saying that they're they're at that point
- 1:56:45Speaker 17: now where they can start making these types of big swings.
- 1:56:49Speaker 14: No, I'm not saying that as I don't. I think
- 1:56:52Speaker 14: we're just no.
- 1:56:53Speaker 2: But they need a true number one receiver.
- 1:56:57Speaker 3: And when I say that, I don't mean they're not
- 1:56:59Speaker 3: going to get your March or Justin Jefferson. When I
- 1:57:02Speaker 3: say true number one receiver, I mean a guy that
- 1:57:06Speaker 3: week in and week out, Drake May.
- 1:57:08Speaker 2: Can depend on that.
- 1:57:09Speaker 3: He's gonna he's gonna have production. He's going to end
- 1:57:12Speaker 3: the season with or at least near one thousand yards
- 1:57:16Speaker 3: and you know, over eighty catches.
- 1:57:19Speaker 17: But I'm saying all I'm saying is is that they're
- 1:57:22Speaker 17: at the win now move stage. Like acquiring a number
- 1:57:25Speaker 17: one wide receiver, acquiring a star pass rusher like a
- 1:57:28Speaker 17: Max Crosby. Those are your window is now and you're
- 1:57:31Speaker 17: going to try to win one now. You won't do
- 1:57:34Speaker 17: that as a necessarily as a rebuilding team, like when
- 1:57:38Speaker 17: you're focus thirteen and you don't know if.
- 1:57:39Speaker 3: You when you have your quarterback, it gets you the
- 1:57:42Speaker 3: luxury of focusing elsewhere.
- 1:57:44Speaker 14: Right now you're in that window.
- 1:57:45Speaker 17: Like, I don't think that they have holes all over
- 1:57:48Speaker 17: the roster still, I think that they have like three
- 1:57:52Speaker 17: or four really big needs that if they can hit
- 1:57:55Speaker 17: on them.
- 1:57:56Speaker 14: Then they're going to be right back here where they
- 1:57:58Speaker 14: were this year.
- 1:58:00Speaker 2: I agree with that. I agree with that, and I don't.
- 1:58:02Speaker 17: Think that all the callers and emails we're getting are
- 1:58:05Speaker 17: like the offensive a lot of.
- 1:58:09Speaker 5: Like we have to address all five offensive line spots again,
- 1:58:12Speaker 5: like you know, like clash, and I just I think
- 1:58:14Speaker 5: that's too strong, too strong. You have to always be
- 1:58:18Speaker 5: looking to improve. Mike and Evan been talking about this
- 1:58:20Speaker 5: for weeks. I couldn't agree more with both of them.
- 1:58:23Speaker 5: You know, Mike perfect analogy the three to four Corey
- 1:58:27Speaker 5: Dyllon thing, like you need to you know, if that's
- 1:58:29Speaker 5: Max Crosby or someone like that, that's the kind of
- 1:58:32Speaker 5: move they should be able to. They should be looking
- 1:58:34Speaker 5: to make and able to make. Because of the situation
- 1:58:37Speaker 5: you're in. Teams players are no longer going to say
- 1:58:40Speaker 5: no to you just because of it's you.
- 1:58:44Speaker 2: You know, you just came out of the super Bowl.
- 1:58:45Speaker 17: That's but Corey, like Corey tracked out, like that's exactly it.
- 1:58:49Speaker 14: It's the win now move. It's the push it over
- 1:58:51Speaker 14: the top move.
- 1:58:52Speaker 5: Yeah, that's why I loved it as soon as Mike
- 1:58:54Speaker 5: said that whenever, whenever you said it for the first time,
- 1:58:57Speaker 5: And I keep giving them credit for it.
- 1:58:58Speaker 4: I appreciate.
- 1:58:59Speaker 17: Yeah, it's not the you know, we need bringing in
- 1:59:03Speaker 17: that hungry. We have ten holes and we need to
- 1:59:05Speaker 17: overhaul total.
- 1:59:06Speaker 3: So yeah, I mean, we're gonna have another show on Tuesday, obviously,
- 1:59:10Speaker 3: but you know we can Thursday. I mean, you know,
- 1:59:13Speaker 3: we can talk about the viability of bringing in a
- 1:59:16Speaker 3: guy like Max Crosby.
- 1:59:18Speaker 2: You know, what would it take?
- 1:59:19Speaker 4: A first round pick? I think everybody here, Oh, you
- 1:59:21Speaker 4: think you would.
- 1:59:22Speaker 2: Give a first round pick for him?
- 1:59:24Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:59:24Speaker 2: I would, well at thirty one.
- 1:59:26Speaker 3: Maybe, yeah, I think no, No, our pick is at one.
- 1:59:31Speaker 2: Yeah, he's only twenty eight.
- 1:59:32Speaker 4: Yeah, he's a needle mover in the worst way.
- 1:59:35Speaker 5: I just can't imagine you're getting him for less than
- 1:59:38Speaker 5: a first round pick.
- 1:59:39Speaker 2: But I don't know. Sometimes these guys go for less
- 1:59:41Speaker 2: than you think.
- 1:59:41Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I'd sign up right now for thirty one.
- 1:59:45Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Brady wouldn't let the Patriots get him.
- 1:59:50Speaker 17: He's not anybody that's not out. He's just I mean,
- 1:59:55Speaker 17: Diana Rossini is saying that Max Crosby wants to play
- 1:59:57Speaker 17: for Rabel already.
- 1:59:59Speaker 14: She said that on radio last week.
- 2:00:01Speaker 2: All right, like I said, we'll be back on Thursday.
- 2:00:05Speaker 3: Thanks for listening, watching, Thanks for listening and watching all
- 2:00:09Speaker 3: last week at Radio Row. I know, right, that was
- 2:00:15Speaker 3: a lot of fun. Just wish we couldn't have, you know,
- 2:00:18Speaker 3: finished the deal.
- 2:00:19Speaker 7: Uh.
- 2:00:20Speaker 3: But we will be back Thursday, and we'll be here
- 2:00:23Speaker 3: every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the off season.
- 2:00:26Speaker 17: Tomorrow we move now taking the noon on Wednesday spot
- 2:00:32Speaker 17: from season.
- 2:00:34Speaker 3: Okay, so we'll fill your Wednesdays with the light banter
- 2:00:38Speaker 3: of Evan, Lazar and Alex bar Alex came back with
- 2:00:42Speaker 3: a little hopping his steps.
- 2:00:43Speaker 2: So I don't know what happened down there, but.
- 2:00:47Speaker 3: Even though the Patriots lost, he seemed to be a
- 2:00:50Speaker 3: little bit on the on the My Alex story was.
- 2:00:54Speaker 17: On Monday morning, he texted, I get wake up to
- 2:00:57Speaker 17: a text from Alex.
- 2:00:58Speaker 4: It's just like, who is this woman knocking on my door?
- 2:01:00Speaker 7: Oh?
- 2:01:01Speaker 2: It was like why did I get a bill?
- 2:01:03Speaker 7: Did that?
- 2:01:04Speaker 14: So that really happened?
- 2:01:05Speaker 7: Huh? I know.
- 2:01:06Speaker 14: I was like, yeah, they lost, Yeah that was not
- 2:01:09Speaker 14: a nightmare that.
- 2:01:10Speaker 2: It's tough for you kids, I know. All right, see
- 2:01:12Speaker 2: you Thursday.
- 2:01:15Speaker 4: Hey, this is Deuce. Thanks for tuning into the show.
- 2:01:18Speaker 2: If you really want.
