Transcript
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Daily Writer, where we share a lesson each day to help you cultivate the habits for creative success.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: We've talked many times on this podcast about the need to learn from others.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Whether it's being part of a mastermind, reading books, attending a conference, or something else, it's vital that we all put ourselves in a learning posture.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: It's important that you learn from other writers who can share their knowledge, but in the same way, you must help other writers be more successful.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: There are plenty of people in your orbit who would love to achieve your level of success, whatever that level might be.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: Even if your only level of experience is starting a blog, there are plenty of writers who would love to learn how to do that.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Don't dismiss your skills just because they seem common.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: If you've taken time to build or create something, you can teach it to someone else.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Now, it doesn't mean you have to label yourself as a teacher or set yourself up as some big expert.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: It just means that you're sharing what you've learned.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: You can do this on social media, your blog, an email newsletter, speaking, and so many other ways.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: A simple but powerful way to help other writers is to host a weekly mastermind call.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Now, I've been a part of a writer's mastermind group for years.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: Each week we meet on Zoom and talk about our successes and challenges.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: And that weekly meeting has an amazing way of encouraging my spirit.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: It also helps the other writers because they have challenges of their own.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: The whole idea of a mastermind is to bring together like-minded people to help each other solve their problems.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: And I can't begin to tell you how many times over the years that our mastermind group has helped me push through a problem or an obstacle.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: And many times, in fact, maybe most of the time, the obstacle isn't somewhere out there.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: The obstacle is in my own head.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: I'm my own worst enemy.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: But when I help other people, it gets the focus off myself and reminds me that I do have some things to teach others.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: So if you have a brain and you can write words, you can teach others.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Somebody out there needs your knowledge and you can change their life by sharing it with them.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for listening to today's episode.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: I want to take a moment to let you know about our daily writer membership community.
